Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Upside with Jordan a dose of good news,
because it's a big world out there. I live in
the city and see a lot of young folks on skateboards.
Here's a story about a young lady, Brooke Johnson, who
decided to take skateboarding to the next level. She's become
the first woman to cross the United States the entire
country on a skateboard, beginning in Santa Monica, California, ending

(00:20):
on the East Coast at Virginia Beach. Upon arriving on
the Atlantic Seaboard, the twenty nine year old champion lifted
her skateboard over her head and thank the man who
made it all possible, her late stepfather, Roger. Due to
an accident, Roger became a quadripleger and his health suffered
until he passed away last year. He inspired Brook to
go for her dream and break the record, and although
she had hoped to push him across the finish line

(00:41):
in a wheelchair, death didn't allow that to happen, but
he was there in spirit as his ashes rested inside
a necklace she was wearing while she's skateboarded across the country.
As Brooke says, if there's one thing you take away
from this trip, it's that you can truly do anything
you put your mind to, and that's the upside. With
