Welcome to the Upside with Jordan a dose of good news,
because it's a big world out there, and with prom
season upon us, here's a story that'll melt your heart.
Back in high school, Sean Moyer invited Elena Hershey to
be his prom date. The prom happened, The two then
went their separate ways, only to be reunited by circumstance
when doctor Moyer found himself in need of a kidney
(00:21):
to save his life. He'd had two previous transplants and
needed a third. Circling back to that prom date, Elena
Hershey was now teaching in Colorado. She had decided to
donate one of her kidneys altruistically, and then she found
out that her prom date, Sean needed a kidney. Well,
she wasn't a direct match, but she did donate her
organ to help another person, which made certain that Moyer
(00:41):
would receive a compatible kidney in return. He did, and
now doctor Moyer looks forward to a healthier life and
believes Elena's generosity led to the match. All of this
happening thirty five years after a prom date. And that's
