Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, This is the upside with Jordan. A dose of
good news, because it's a big world out there. A
few years back, a young fifteen year old Newton resident,
Preston Settles, while on a basketball court doing what he loved,
collapsed and passed away. Several days later. Preston's parents decided
to do something in his memory, to take action to
let the world know that sudden cardiac arrest is the

(00:20):
leading cause of death among young athletes. Through the Preston
Settles Memorial Fund, the goal is to make AED defibrillators
available at schools and other venues across the state so
that other young people might survive what their son did not.
Last year, the family introduced House Build four one two
one legislation that will require AEDs at all public sporting
events in the Commonwealth. The bill is now moving through

(00:42):
the Senate. Preston's parents and his sister Taylor are determined
to use their loss to help others in Preston's name.
