they talk about how essentially the cheerleadersjust for a long time worked for the
fun of it and even still tothis day don't even make a lot of

Correct. So the DCC doc highlyrecommend it on Netflix. If you've
seen it, you know exactly kindof where I'm going to go with this,
and this is pay There is acertain part in the documentary one of
the first episodes, the Dallas Cowboycheerleaders are essentially their own entity within the
NFL. Then you have the DallasCowboys themselves. It's said and believed that
the DCC girls bring in so muchmoney to that organization, and it's been

addressed that they don't really get paidtheir value in their worth. And in
the documentary, the woman that's incharge of essentially the branding for the DCC
girls said, well, they're reallyjust kind of happy to be here.
Now I'm paraphrasing some of the lengthystatement that she made, and whether you
buy it or you don't, thatwas a line that was used in there,
that they're just happy to be there. At what point in your career

world is it, Hey, Ilove this work so much that I'm gonna
keep doing it for free, kindof like what I love about radio and
voiceover work versus all right now,I really need to start bucking up and
ask him for money, Like whatis that balance? You know for each
of us it's different. But here'swhat I tell you about the Dallas Cowboy
cheer leaders and everything goes back toecon one oh one. There is apparently

they are not having a problem findingyoung women to work for minimum wage,
so there is no incentive for themto either give them a raise or share
in the profits or revenue that theybring in. And so when there is
that situation, you know, youdon't often see change. Now, if

all of a sudden they had nobodyapplying or you know, the caliber that
they want applying, then they'd haveto make a change. This is true
whether it's you know, Dallas Cowboyscheerleaders or any other organization that hires people.
Hiring is supply and demand. Andone of the other examples I think
of, and it's kind of related, is I've talked to people who I
really want to be work for amajor league team or you know, et

cetera, for the sports administration.Typically, especially those entry level or lower
level jobs for those organizations are suchthat they don't pay well, but there's
so many people who want them thatthey don't have to pay well. And
so that is the calculation that goeson with employers. What's that right number

that I know, I'm still goingto get the caliber people I want?
Oh yeah, and these girls arelined up by the hundred sure to try
out for this position that pays notreally a lot. So yeah, what
am I supposed to do if Iwant to be a part of it?
I just that's it. The otherside of it. So from the applicant
side, there's a calculus that goeson for all of us when we hire,

When we apply for a job,it is what are what are the
benefits? What am I getting outof this? Not just health benefits,
but I mean a benefits to mycareer? What are the good things about
this job? What's it going toprepare me for? In other words,
how am I going to be ableto use this platform to jump off to

something else at some point? Isit worth? Is sort of the the
sexiness of the job, the fame, the fortune, the exposure, you
know, all that. Right forsome people that's very compelling, but not
for everybody. So every everybody willapplies. They go in knowing, yeah,
the pays, you know, kindof crap. However, if I
(04:05):
do this, here are all thebenefits to my career and my life that
I'm going to get. So that'swhat you have to think about it going
into it. Then any any job, and I find that those potentially that
go into a job and they arenot happy with the pay that they're making.
It's the ones that are you findingwhere they say, well I can
(04:27):
get this and this and this,and they work towards that that they get
something out of it, yeah,versus those that just go in and complain
about the pay not being great,they get nothing out of it, right,
right, So if you take thisjob, you know what the pay
is, like, well, it'strue with any job, you know what
the pay is. And so ifyou're if you're taking a job grudgingly because
but you're kind of mad that they'repaying you so little, you aren't going

to show up well, you aren'tgoing to get any salary increase at any
point, and you're just going towalk around, you know, stealing coffee
pods because you're upset that you knowthe that you're not getting paid well.
And that's just a terrible way tolive. And so I think always starting
with what do you want what's mostimportant to you out of your next job.

I know people that say health benefitsis my number one priority for now
because of my life, and otherpeople who say it's pay or it's the
opportunity to align with an organization.That makes a difference. So you have
to you have to rank those thingswhat is most important to you, and
that's how you go forward and thensay no to any opportunity that doesn't give
