Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're waking up. Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's stripe hype Fridays. Marissa Contapelli of the Bengals joins
us to chit chat every Friday to get ready for
the game. Marissa, You're the perfect person to guide our
Tiff in the Morning listeners into this because I have
such a hard time letting go of summer that I
called out of work on Tuesday for summer bereavement. So
I'm nowhere near ready for football season to start. But

(00:24):
I bet you are. Good morning, Gal, Good morning, Tiff.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Well, all I have to say is get ready because
we are finally kicking off the season this weekend. I
oh my gosh. I have just been waiting months and
months for this finally week one. And honestly, Tiff, I
can't think of a better opponent for the Bengals to
kick off the season with than the Cleveland Browns. The
Battle of Ohio a huge divisional massup right off of

(00:49):
the gate, and it's a little crazy when you look
at some of the numbers. The second time in the
last three years these teams have opened up against each other.
I don't know if it's a new kind of trend
the NFL is starting. I love the Battle of Ohio series.
Being this early in the year.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I'm excited too. Did you Were you the one that
edited and posted the hype video that went up like
a day or so ago. I loved watching that.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
That was cool. That was not me. That was one
of our incredible producers, Grace Hammond. She did a fantastic
job on that video. And seriously I wanted to like
run through a brick wall after watching that, like, this
is better. This better get our fans hyped and excited,
because it's just it is. I mean, there's no better

(01:31):
match up to start the year than with this one,
and especially when you look at what this team wants
to do. We've heard all camp, all pre season long,
start fast, get out the gate, start, start fast, get going,
and I think that's exactly what's going to be in store.
I think Cincinnati comes out swinging. I think the Bengals
come out hot against the Browns. I don't necessarily expect
it to be a incredibly high scoring game, just a

(01:54):
it being week one, I think it might lean a
little bit more on the lower scoring side. But I
fully expend that Taylor and Joe Burrow to have this
offense jeering up and ready to go against Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I one a clock away. We'll touch base about the
home opener next week when we chat. But I would
say for the first time, and not that fantasy football
is new by any means amongst my girlfriends, but for
the first time, I'm hearing a lot of my girlies
talk about fantasy football and I'm not doing it. Am
I missing out?

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh my gosh, kick, we have to get you on board.
You need to be a fantasy football guru at some
point because it just it makes it so much more
enjoyable to watch other NFL games if you don't have something,
if you're not like invested in that team, you want
to follow along if you're a fan of football. That's
kind of how I got into following fantasy football. A
handful of years ago, one of my girlfriends was like, Hey,

(02:46):
I'm putting together a league of all women for fantasy football.
Do you want in. I was like, yeah, Like, let's
go ahead. You know, I'll always follow my teams, but
let's go ahead and give us a try. And it
has so much fun. It's just getting a chance to,
I don't know, just watch other games and players and
kind of you know, have a little bit of different
investment in teams you might not normally watch, you know,

(03:07):
on random, you know, Thursday night or Sunday afternoon, and
I think we need to get you on board for
all right.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well, then what would be the one piece of advice
for someone that is thinking about starting a fantasy football league?
Coming out of your mouse, Marissa Contapelly or mouth not mouse.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
That is a great question piece of advice. I always
like to just kind of default and have a few players.
It's not a few, then at least one from my team.
So I know every year I like to at least
draft one Bangle on my team. I know this year
the Jamar Chase was the popular target for a second overall,
I was not in the draft position to take him
that high. Unfortunately, then you look at the other you know,

(03:46):
Chase Brown. I think Chase Brown is going to have
a great fantasy year, expecting him to be in a
top ten fantasy wise, and you just look at the
numbers he had put up from a season ago. So
if you were lucky enough to have Chase Brown on
your fantasy team, I think he's going to do wonders
for you this year. But I think The biggest thing
tips if you're like just looking into getting started on

(04:07):
fantasy is just to go and do it having fun,
especially if you're new, not having too high expectations, you know,
just kind of like learning and getting a grasp because
you know, watching stand like fantasy is so different from
just like your every day to day you know kind
of football when it comes to just the different you
know PPR and you know, different scoring. Every league is

(04:30):
a little bit different if you're using different platforms as well.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Okay, Well, Marissa kont Pelly, team reporter and producer for
the Bengals, she joins me for Stripe Hype Friday to
get us ready. I will look out for you while
watching the game on Sunday. I'll look out for you
on the sidelines. And I hope that you're going to
bring the good juju with you for our first game,
my gal.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
I hope so too, expecting a good one up in Cleveland.
And also, you know what's stripe Hype. I know it's
the name of our segment. That's a fantastic fantasy football team.
Ming too. If you're looking for that's your teenage all
right there?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
It is that you might have sold me on it,
although I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Thanks
Mike Gal, We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Talk to you and thanks Kis
