Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction, unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes.
So let's turn it into a tool. This is Arrow unplugged.
When it's extremely difficult to make up our mind. You know,
having the power of choice can actually weaken someone. On
this episode, we're going to explore those moments when people
(00:20):
make the choice to choose crime as the only answer,
plus the FDA's choice to ban red dye number three.
My name is Arrow. Life is a series of choices.
I mean, who decides when you're not making the right choice?
Is it the fear of going wrong? The greatest lessons
in life are often lost inside hidden away attempts and concepts. Well,
(00:41):
it's time to open your heart. Having a choice is
your daily gift. On this highway, we're learning how to
trust mirages. What's the choice? So what is it about
crime that leads people to make the choice to commit it? Well,
there's a long list associated with such an open question.
But making a choice to break the law can be
(01:02):
associated with anger, rejection of authority, and a very powerful personality.
But but, but, but Before we go down that dark path,
a bigger choice is in the core of why do
we find great interest in true crime? Mental health experts
say it's because we are hardwired to notice things that
indicate danger. It's completely natural to watch to see if
(01:24):
our personal lives are at risk. Locating answers and solutions
makes us feel safer. Okay, So knowing this, do people
make the choice to break the law out of influence? Oh?
Yes they do. There's very little accountability today, which is
a huge open door for people to just walk through
it and take advantage of a system designed to protect people.
(01:46):
I mean so much goes into making that choice to
crack the law, from social conformity to peer pressure to survival.
Just as much as we say that crime is on
the rise, guess what, so are the number of business
this is turning their backs on crime, just letting it
happen because nobody wants to deal with it. Hey, coming
(02:09):
up next, what does it mean that the FDA has
chosen to ban red dye number three? Hey? Thanks for
coming back to the choice. So what does it mean
that the FDA has made the choice to ban red
dye number three? You know, it's found in many products,
almost like a piece of magic. But according to the FDA,
(02:30):
the choice to use red dye number three is a killer.
It causes cancer plus behavioral issues in children. Banning it
in the United States is far from being a global
first step. It's not been used in European areas, New
Zealand and Australia. Red dye number three has been a
major product in candy cakes, frozen desserts, and certain drugs,
(02:51):
but according to the FDA's choice, it's all got to
be gone by January fifteenth, twenty twenty seven. According to
the Center of Science in the Public Case Interest, there
are over nine two hundred products currently choosing to use
red dye number three. As for what manufacturers will turn to, well,
the obvious choice is red dye number forty. They say
it's safer. It derives from fruits and veggies like beets, cabbage,
(03:14):
and sweet potatoes. The good news is many major companies
have already started using red dye number forty, which will
make the legal transition in twenty twenty seven a lot sweeter.
It's all based on a choice, him Meryl, And that's
what I was writing while the sun was waking up
on a brilliant new day
