To start todays episode we have a conversation that tries to dissect the Iowa QB situation and why Stratton is set to likely get the start over Cade McNamara against the Terps. Is there something deeper going on here considering that Cade is medically cleared but not back in front and still no longer a captain..? We discuss how this could even be the case going up against a walk on 4th string and dive into NIL deals for Stratton's future. WE discuss the latest CFP bracket and the new playoff system at large, the good, the bad, and the greedy SEC. Ponder games where Bama and Georgia could travel to play opening round matchups in the snow, and if the Big 12 is even going to get in? With a whole lot more packed in between, we finish with world famous Ward's Winners.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fun one tonight maybe the most fun preview episode that
we've had this year, considering the style and vibe of
our previews around here. Anytime that I can get Kevin
Ward's mind spinning, just ticking a little bit trying to
figure something out usually results in good content, and we
got that from the jump with this whole quarterback situation.
We talked playoff, we talked bets. It's a great podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Thanks for being here. Let's have a day. Let's go

(00:52):
Kevin Ward. Hey, how you doing hanging in there? Are
you sick? You're wearing a stocking hat?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Took the dog outside.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
It's like, oh no, Kevin' said Drake. Drake's sick. Drake's
like deathly ill. Threw his fight from last week until now,
said he was still visiting the bathroom frequently.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
All the way up until yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Drake, by the way, made a made an appearance on
the on the Patreon podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Wasn't that a pleasant surprise, you bum? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:21):
It was cool. Got a text early in the morning
asking when do we record now? And uh, he said
he had a story and it was a nice little,
like forty five minute debrief of Drake's weekend. It's pretty nice.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, he took the whole show and and made it
real easy on us. It was. It was pretty great.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Yeah, I just sat there. Yeah, it was good to
hear from him. Though I missed Drake miss hearing from him.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I do too.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I think he misses us a little bit because he's
now He's now made two appearances, one on the one
on the Patreon, one on the public.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah sure, I mean, like you guys are as, I
mean what you guys have been friends with him for
over a decade now, I mean, he probably got pretty
used to talking to you guys on a pretty regular
basis in once seconds kind of a little short. I'm sure
he misses it all.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I had to sleep in the same room as him
for a whole year.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Yeah, I mean, regardless of where you're sleeping at. But uh, yeah,
I think that's totally normal for him to want to
talk to his friends.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I know all of Drake's deepest, darkest secrets. We used
to We used to stay up late and talk to
each other, tell stories.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
So that was fun.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
We're previewing the Maryland game tonight. Who knows how much
of that we'll actually talk about.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Iowa hurt in the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
But I don't know if you guys have heard it,
you're probably a little bit more engaged in a whare
than Kevin is Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
But I don't think.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I don't think our team or our coaches feel confident
at all about who we're going to put.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Out there on Saturday at this point.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah, what's what's going on? Like, kid's clear to play,
but he might not play? What the fuck's going on?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
That's a good That's just a good way to question it.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
keV Uh, You in a very succinct way, just asked
the question that like three or four different reporters tried
to ask yesterday and they were just so confused. Sullivan's
out for probably definitely the next two weeks, maybe the
bowl game.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Who knows. He's not available.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
He's definitely not going to play ankle injury, which is
a conversation that we probably need to have anyway, because
it was fun to watch him play. But then obviously
him getting hurt is a detriment to the way like
kind of his style and our health at the position.
So that leaves us with shaggy old Jackson Stratton, who

(03:33):
finished the game against UCLI for US and really went
out there and did as good as he could, like
you know, props to the guy and Kaid mactmerk QB
one supposed to be QB one who still coming out
of that concussion against Northwestern. So Kid is cleared to play,
but when asked, it was actually about Linez. Linez got

(03:56):
hurt last week or in the in the UCLA like week,
so that's why Stratton came in and he wasn't on
the trip because he broke his thumb or something. Somebody's like, okay,
so is Linez back. Kaf says yes, and they're like okay,
so Linez will be number two behind Cad and Stratton
and Stratton. He's like, oh no, we'll probably start Stratton
and everybody everybody was like, uh excuse excuse me what

(04:23):
and you said Caid was cleared, right, He's like, yeah,
well we're we'll probably just started up like we finished
last time. And they're like, okay, so why is did
Kid take a step back? And he's like, he is
cleared medically, but we don't know if he can be effective.
So me and David kind of had this conversation earlier today,
which will be yesterday for when people listen to this

(04:44):
what what what comes to your mind? What do you
what are you thinking when you hear that keV?

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Does he have the yips or something?

Speaker 4 (04:53):
That's my question. I was like, does he have amnesia?
Does he does he not remember who where he is
to throw a football?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
I don't know what to make of that. I honestly have
no clue to make of that.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I immediately thought, Okay, so we have line as he's back,
but it sounds like it's between these other two Stratton
and McNamara.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
And we know what Stratton is.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
He's a guy who's gotten three weeks worth of one's reps,
actual IOWA football plays learned, you know our playbook against
the defense, A walk on guy who was forced string
to start the season. And he's who we're gonna go
with over the guy we paid dozens of thousands of
dollars to in nil money to bring in from Michigan.

(05:35):
And that guy is medically cleared, but we're not sure
if he can be effective. He only has to be
effective to just be slightly better than Jackson Stratton, who
by all means is there's not it's not a heavy
obstacle to clear there.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
This is in no way shape or form a jab
at Jackson Stratton. But he is a step above pull
into somebody out of the stands to play quarterback. Is
walk On fifth string was playing scout team linebacker two
weeks before.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
I mean, I'm trying to.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Like in this either. Yes, Kate is dealing with some
mental issue where he's like just has the yibs can't perform.
I in no way, shape or form, believe that the
coaching staff now believes that Jackson Stratton gives them the
best chance to win over.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
There's no way they can, right because.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
There's just no way the other was covering for him,
and Kate is just said, I'm done, you.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Know, And that's that's the thing. And I don't I
don't want to play, you know. I'm I'm trying to
milk this podcast keV where we still have credibility and
people respect us. I'm not going to turn this into
a drama alert YouTube channel for anybody who knows what
that is. Until this thing is just like bone dry,
no one listens. That's when I'll become the clickbit Chin

(07:00):
turned the walk Ons into a sham.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Who does the I don't know if it's you, R Garrett,
but whoever does the thumbnails is really good to click bait.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
That's that's that's clever. He's a graphic designer.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
And let me tell you it has got it has
increased our view views.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
You just gotta get the shocked facial expressions.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I know, we gotta start adding those in.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
There were a couple of ye outlined, you know, like
outline it with white.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
He said, what Sullivan ol for the season?

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Anyway, where I was going with that was, I don't
want to make mountains out of molehills here. But if
I'm reading into this a little bit, and David brought
it up on today's podcast with the KF Press review
the way he talked about it and kind of he
didn't even mention it in his opening statement. And then
you see the captains come out, and I questioned when

(07:51):
kid wasn't a captain against UCLA, And it made sense
because he couldn't travel, he wasn't medically cleared. You're not
gonna bring something. You're not gonna name a captain who's
not gonna be.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Able to even be on the trip.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
But they're back home now he's medically cleared, he still
isn't a captain, And what I like in that too,
was maybe that's a nothing burger, But keV, if you
think about some of the captains we had during our time,
and I brought up James Morris as the example. If
James was in the same situation, he got a concussion,
we ended up having to go on a road trip
the next week where he was not medically cleared to

(08:24):
make a flight. That was going to make recovery weird.
So we named another captain for that week. But then
we came back home the following week and James was okay.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Even if James isn't okay, but he's at the stadium,
James as a captain.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
He would have been a captain again, he would have
been renamed a captain. So for Kate, So if I'm
putting puzzle pieces together here, is there trouble at home?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Is there a little bit of drama going on? And
is that what we're getting into now when we're talking
about college football and nil deals and guys who aren't
at a university for four or five years, they're there
for one or two, and the deepened relationship ships that
you have and respect for a coaching staff and a
staff's respect for a player and the process.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's just a little thinner.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Than it used to be, and and and tears and
and cracks in the system and jealousy and uh anger
and jealousy whatever it needs to be, whatever it is,
starts to seep in a little bit more and Caid
Caid steps up, and internally it's just like, nah, I'm not,
I don't know, drama maybe starts to happen. I don't

(09:29):
I'm not saying that's absolutely what's going on. I'm saying
it's a possibility, because it just seems really weird that
kid gets medically cleared and isn't the guy anymore? After all,
after all this time, we were like, hey, can we
can we play Brandan Sullivan? Is there any chance Sullivan
will get a shot? Or is Kaid the QB? No,
he's our guy. Caid's proven that, you know, he's what

(09:50):
he's shown us, And now all of a sudden that's
not the case if he's medically cleared.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Here's an idea. Well, we joked about it, but is
there a chance that Tim Molenster actually was able to
unlock checks and Stratton in the past two weeks.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
It is possible that that has, you know, away.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
The rough because in theory, right, this is all just theory.
Of course, you guys talk about like really the only
ones and twos get reps in practice, right, yep, Right,
so he's gotten like exponentially more reps.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Oh yeah, his his his familiarity with the system and
the amount of practice reps he's gotten has literally by
by each rep he's taken like doubled triple like it
has just it's skyrocketed.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Mathematically, it's like infinite amount of time of practice reps
than he had four.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Weeks ago, Right, So, I don't know, Maybe it's just
they finally I think if we're just if we're just
throwing stuff at the wall here trying to make sense
of this, what are the chances that they just he
just finally got a practice.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Hey, this guy's not his roster and he's gonna be
like the was it Baker and may feel like a
fourth string walk on quarterback.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
His freshman year?

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Yeah, I believe so is Jackson Stratt. That's that's your headline, right,
Maybe that's Jackson. Is Jackson Stratton the next Babe Baker?

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Hold On, here's here's the thought for everybody on the YouTube.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
You need to like the video right now. If you don't,
you're an asshole. Because I'm doing this for you. I'm
doing it for content. This is the new thumb. Noil ready,
I'm gonna do the picture. Tim Lester unlocks Stratton. That's
the title of this episode. Now here, Hey, gret here's why.
I don't think that's one hundred percent a joke. Right
when they asked about Stratton today, so they get through this,

(11:41):
they finally get the answer out of kf Or it
was yesterday, and they're like, Okay, what gives you all
this confidence in Stratton now just two weeks after he
had to come in and relief and like, has Kade
taken a step back? Like what is what is the reason?
Like how confident do you feel now versus two weeks ago?
And Work's answer to the to the media, with a

(12:02):
smile on his face, was, Oh, I feel a whole
hell of a lot more confident now. Is Stratton balling.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Because again, like he probably hadn't seen him throw football since,
like he said.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
The words, I had not seen him throw a football.
He didn't even meet the guy until August.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Well, again, like, yes, he is obviously a hell of
a lot more confident now because like he literally knew
nothing prior to the UCLA game. Right about, Yeah, the
kids didn't lead a seventy five yard touchdown drive against
a good defense.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
He had a couple are they Are they just saying like, hey,
what's just tell Maryland expect the unexpected? And just like
they got zero idea what's coming.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
I was just gonna say, are they trying to hold
this close to the chest? And then when they come
out on Saturday, Maryland's just in for one, They're walking
into a They're walking into a bad situation.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Here's a new one. Maryland's in trouble. You know, like
you're gonna get a lot of thumbnails here clicking your way.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
You're pushing the lineup to like fifteen and a half,
just based off of one podcast. They got good intel
former players.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
We listen to this one podcast.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
They said this, this Stratton kid can absolutely sling it.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
I don't know, man, I just it doesn't seem likely.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
But I mean I literally put in my notes for
the for the Icult Pod today.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
This is the note.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
KF is clearly impressed with the very limited, valuable reps
that Stratton has gotten. That was that was my note
after listening to the press conference.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Right, let's rewind like a year and tell me where
did we find Jackson Stratton and what is his background?
Where's he from?

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Oh, it wasn't a year, It was about seven months ago.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
He used to play for CSU.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I believe he's a Colorado State guy.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
He transferred from Colorado State.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
I believe. Can you pull up his profile on the
Iowa roster.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I believe he's a young kid, got a skylar to CSU, Okay,
but with Iowa, it's just he's a walk on.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
By the way, when you search Jackson Stratton, a picture
Brendan Sullivan comes up. I just want to point that out,
Just want want.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
To and and by the way, as we as Grant
pulls this up and we can kind of dive deeper here,
I am sad that that Sullivan's hurt. It sucks we
don't get to see him play this out And you
guys can give your thoughts on it.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
But it really was exciting. Look at this guy.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
It really was exciting too. He's from Cali six sixth one.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
I want to see his high school stats.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
It probably won't.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Well, it usually does if you go.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
All the way down.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Yeah. Competed at Colorado State, red shirted after appearing in
four games. He was four of seventeen for seventy eight
yards at CSU with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
But now he's got to.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Look at all these uh, now he's got a ton
of pictures up from the UCLA game. High school three
star Composite recruit Okay two four to seven ranked him
as the sixty third nationally among pro style quarterbacks. That's
not great, but it's not horrible. He was three twelve
of five point fifteen in his career for forty five

(15:13):
hundred yards and fifty two touchdowns with nineteen picks.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
So this guy is just gunslinging all over the place.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
He probably played two years through for over two thousand
yards a year, had like a three to one.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Touchdown to in interception ratio too.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I mean, it's QB that only someone like Tim Lester
can Damn.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
I mean, what if it's just the perfect match man.
It was fun to watch Brendan Sullivan run around. He
was just far too aggressive and not aware enough in
that UCLA game. And I think I don't think I
have to tell him that or I think he was
pretty It became pretty evident pretty quickly. It would have

(15:57):
been nice to see him get five five and a half,
four and a half, five and a half games to
finish this year, knowing that he's still going to be
on the roster, he's going to be one of the
options for next year. Up until this point he's been Hey,
he's our guy for next year, and now we have
to Now we have to go another wrung down the ladder.
And now does Marco Linas come into the picture if

(16:18):
Caid's potentially I got.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
A question about Marco, Yeah, if he's healthy right now, Yeah,
and it's still maybe like amnesia Caid or Jackson Stretton,
what are the chances we ever see Marco take.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Snap amnesia cad for file football.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Like if even at this point he's still like third
bottom of the list, broking hand right or.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
A thumb issue the week of UCLA.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yeah, throwing. I mean, if it's a throwing thumb, then
I mean.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
That I have to imagine it is.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Right, Yeah, that that that's tough.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
You know, Like, Yeah, to answer your question, I don't
think we have a health although he keef said he
was back and it was showing promising. They were kind
of surprised at how quickly he came back. I don't
I don't think he's one hundred percent to where he
can get into the conversation right now. To answer that
question further, Grant Tyler Kloever personally thinks we might never

(17:11):
see a snap of Marco linas run. He can run, he's.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
More Kate is our least mobile.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Quarterback on the roster of the four. I think, no
shag shaggy shaggy Stratton. I'd love to see him scoot
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
He got an open space that one play.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
What do you see?

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I know, dude, dude, I'm juiced a little bit at
the at just the A's just the fantasy world potential
of our conversation right now, like Stratton is just absolutely
slinging it in practice, Like Jay Higgins and Castro and Sholty,
they have no idea what's going on and no answer.
Phil Parker is is the last two weeks has been like,

(17:51):
we don't know how to fucking stop this guy. This
guy's unbelievable. That's more of a Coach Wallace voice.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
But I don't know. I don't know. It's a very
interesting situation.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
The other quote that's pertinent there, Kevin and Grant is
Kay have said, I think we'll know by Friday who's starting.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
You guys won't, but we will, And they basically left
it at that.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
And I genuinely believe he is no idea who's going
to be the one schotting out their setting.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
And that's what I told Ichled.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
I was like, when he says that, I think he
absolutely means it. I think at this point in the season,
defensively a couple times they've been at a loss for
answers of what's going on, and now offensively with this
quarterback health situation, I think they are on their heels.
They straight up don't have answers for the public, and
they're going into this week blind like everybody else.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Hey, is Stratton looking a little better? Is Cade looking
a little better? Who knows? We'll decide at game time
and we're.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Just gonna roll with it. Scary place to be. It
would just be much better if we were just like, yeah,
our quarterback solid.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
You know, most important player on the team.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Yeah, that we got consistency and just good play at it, right.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I mean It's like, just not the situation.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Didn't Nate Stanley break the recordflect most consecutive snaps taken?
Was that CJ?

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Like consecutive snaps taken for an Iowa quarterback?

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, something like that. I think it was either native CJ.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I mean he started for seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, three years.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I mean, I don't think you ever got hurt.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Played in a bowl game every year, so he would
have started. He would have started thirty nine games in
a row.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
It was the last time he had a three year starter.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Was it CJ?

Speaker 3 (19:35):
No, it wasn't CJ.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Obviously not rude, wasn't rudoc. I don't think it was
vander Vanderberg.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Stanzy was too dandy.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Was like, toosh, he might have that might be a stat.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Now I'll tell you who's who's whose game started streak
he doesn't touch And that's yours.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Truly is yours years Like they have to go to
the college wall playoff one time to break years?

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Right?

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah, I have the I have the all time Iowa
start consecutive start record for any player any position in
the history of the program.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Four years, bowl game each year, plus a big.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Ten ships plus the Big Ten Championship, So it's fifty three.
The only one who could the only one who could
have beat me was I think Nico had a chance,
and then he got hurt for a game or and
he didn't start well.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
He was also there for six years, so.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Right, I guess that might be a Mickey Mouse record.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Desmond had a chance and he ended up getting suspended
one year for like the first half, yeah, the first
quarter of a game, so he.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Messed that up.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Otherwise you guys would have tied.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
So that's really my only calling card is the Polcat.
And the one just completely unimportant record that I have is.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
There's surely there's someone you share that record with. Though now.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
I tried to think back and look for it one time, and.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
But you know what, because you have the Big Ten
Championships though.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Right, and so that's that's the kickers. They didn't play.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
They didn't play it even before twenty fifteen. If there's
a four year starter and they went to.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
A bowl game every year, it would only be fifty two.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Yeah, so I'm pretty sure I'm the only one.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
You're saying there's a huge asterisk. Then with the Big
Ten Championship, on the.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Well, yeah, I mean, okay, theoretically there's there were definitely
Hawkeys who started for four years.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
It's it's a hard record to break, though, because what.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
About what about anybody currently that?

Speaker 2 (21:31):
So that's the thing is they went to the championship
and twenty.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
One on the team could have gone to two, So.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
It would have been it would have to be someone
who started in twenty one and has started all the
way through this year, or started in twenty.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Three twenty four.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yeah, Elkin had a shot to funny because it's another
long snapper. But the issue with that was, I think
this is his fourth year. He technically does have another
year next year, so he could ask shronomically set this.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
I don't know if he'll stay.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
He his first year of starting was when Spewack kind
of had the yips, and he didn't start until the
second or third. Uh, he didn't start until the third game.
He got brought in in the second game against Iowa State.
Started his first game the third game of the year.
So he's gonna be one short. But yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Stratton could be the answer. Stratton could take the Hawk
guys to the stratosphere.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Who knows, but a.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Lot of potential clickbait titles and thumbnails for this one.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
If he starts going off, we've gotta make.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
A a Oh, there's got to be a shaggy shirt.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
No, no, no, we gotta make a Stratton Oakmont meme from Street.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Yes, yes, there's so many nio Oh my god, dude,
do we super impose his face?

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah? His nil opportunities could absolutely skyrocket.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
By the ways Nate Stanley started thirty nine games in
a row.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Yeah, that was curious but pretty good.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
We'd have to go back and see how many snaps
though I can't.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
I can't find snaps. I don't got the I think someone.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Probably a few more than you.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Yeah, I would say more.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah, the snaps record is so far aheaded I I'd
love to go back and actually get the stats on that.
I think I probably averaged somewhere between eight and ten
snaps a game.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Ten sounds high.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Ten sounds high. I mean you're talking punts and pat fuels.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah, but you're only doing one or the other.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Avery drive, Yeah, but it's usually one of the two.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
It's true.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
And there's how many drives does a team average? Iowa
not not as not a ton, but it's probably more
than eight.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Yeah, it's probably around there, you know. You go, Yeah,
turnovers though, you know every now and.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Then, sure, uh never never enough to hit that twenty
five play threat.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Stanley was punting there for a little while.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah, we a little I mean, we got to bring
that back, Like how like that was?

Speaker 3 (24:18):
That was a lethal weapon for two years.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
There things we need to bring back from the Stanley era.
The fucking quarterback sneak, which we can't really afford to
do at this point anymore. And the QB punt Stanley
hit a couple forty plus yarders.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
I just want an end over end.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
There's no one back there, and he just kicks and goes, goes.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
It's not about how pretty it is. It's all about
functions exactly.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
Are you sure Stratton can't punt?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Stratton might be able to boom it.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
I mean, at this point, I'm convinced he he can
cook the team dinner too.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
I mean, just given how effective that was though, Like
I'm surprised, like we should just like once a week,
fifteen minutes, fifteen minutes, once a week, teach the quarterbacks punt.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Yeah, you catch you catch a team off guard. You
completely take out any sort of return.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Yeah, I'm with you. I'm one hundred percent with you.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Although Dacon has been elite, he's a top twenty, he's
he's top twenty in the country.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Yeah, yeah, but you know, I get what I'm saying.
There's no returner back.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
There, right, You can you completely eliminate the risk?

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Other storylines for this game, Brian is gonna be on
the other sideline. Kaeff was asked about the emotional side
of that. He basically said, he just has a ton
of respect from Mike Loxley. He's happy that as a father,
his son is around good people, which ultimately is what
kaf cares about the most. So that answer is not surprising,
and that like it's really no surprise, Like, you know,

(25:49):
they both have an objective on game day and they
want to win the game, and they kind of understand
what the other side's trying to do. So there's really
he said, quote not a great time for a family union,
but I mean sort of to be expected. So it
will be interesting. I wonder if Brian at all has
like a little twinge of like, you know, the Hawks

(26:10):
do well on a play here and there, and he's like,
hell you like if he's cheering for us a little
bit deep down inside, or if he's like, you know,
I would say, I would say probably not.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
I mean, it's it's family, but like it's a football game.
Is you're not going to war? Right, It's like sure
you want to, Like when you play a game with
your brother, your sister or whatever. Like when I play
with my kids, eventually, like they win for free, all right.
They got to earn that ship, all right, And I

(26:41):
assure you each of them wants to win very much
that they have a family member on the other side, like, oh,
at least I lost to them.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
I'm of the same opinion there, Like when when Kinley
starts to be able to like actually dribble and you know,
bump a volleyball around like she's gonna she's gonna get
the work, okay, But I cannot wait for little Kevin Ward.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
To be running around and then just be like, my
dad's an asshole. He never lets me win.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
I saw I saw a post on I forget with
social media, but it was like every year on the
dad's birthday, he raises his kid yep, forty yeah, well.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
See how long? How long? Do you think you could
do it? Uh, well, it.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Depends on when you when you have kids too, right, Well,
of course, do I at forty beat I mean.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
In your situations, I could have. And you're a good
till forty for sure.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
So I think I beat a ten year old kid
at forty for sure. I don't think I beat a
fifteen year old kid at forty five. So somewhere between.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
It's in between that range, especially your kid who's likely
going to be an athlete. And yeah, fifteen year olds
can absolutely fly and absolutely yeah and uh and they will.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Man, you're doing pretty well if you're still anywhere near
your top speed at forty five.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Oh, come, I would say ninety five maybe ninety nine
percent of forty five year olds can't even sprint without
hurting themselves right now. It's actually one of the sadder
things in the fitness industry is how it's like ninety
five percent of people never sprint again after thirty years old.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Sprinting is great for you, That's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
When's the last time you sprinted? Grant, Uh, better get
on it.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
It's been it's been a little bit. I'll be honest.
For someone who used to sprint daily for a long
time exactly like twenty years. Actually probably not twenty realistically,
but fifteen. Uh yeah, something like that. I mean it's
been for my own, like a personal reasons. I have
done it for a little bit. But I'd say maybe,
like I think I sprient it a couple of times
on the pooke Aball Court over the summer. Quick little burst,

(28:52):
yeah yeah, quick burst maybe.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
But prime example. People think your metabolism slows down drastically
as you get older. Turns out you just stop moving
a lot more. You just become extremely sedentary. That's another
conversation that people aren't ready to have yet.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Speaking of kids, shout out to Josie Jewel and the
Jewel Clan gonna have number three. Oh very cool and supposedly.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
In the way I read the caption by McCole was
that this will be their last one now for humanity's sake,
I hope that whatever form of permanent contraception that they
approach fails and that they have six or twelve or
forty more kids, because, as I told Josie in the

(29:44):
group chat, the world needs more Jewels. That bloodline needs
to or maybe or I'd be fine if each of
his kids decided to have three or four of.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Their own.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Because that bloodline needs to That's a Viking bloodline, right there, keV.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yep, straight from the uh, straight from Norway.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
From Scandinavia. Tougher people, stronger, more mentally capable.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
It's just true. Grant, don't give me that look.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
I'm not I'm not doing any look. You'd think if
you got to, like twelve, one of those has to
be another All American linebacker.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Right, twelve kids?

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yeah, sure, if Josie got twelve shots at it.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
If if Josie had twelve boys, four of them are
all yeah, they're all probably one third of them are
all big ten, probably get you probably get at least
two NFL players.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Make recruiting a lot easier for for Brad. Absolutely, yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
And that's why Josie's just honestly a selfish person. The
fact that they are only having three. No, but we're
happy for Joe's he's uh. You talk about the American
dream Josie's living. That is a beautiful.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Family, high school sweetheart, high school sweetheart.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
They're gonna happen for his home state.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
All American.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Literally set himself up financially, owns a couple of businesses
fucked us out of outlaw farming.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
We could have all been rich. But hey, you know,
so he was.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
A Denver Bronco. I'm assuming that's every young football player's
dream was.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
It was five year old Josie with a Bronco helmet on.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
That's actually so cool.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
I'm not that I was just terrible teams, Like.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
He's guy's never going to make the playoffs. But it
is what it is, what it is.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
We'll take him back if he I bet you, he,
I bet you if he called coach Peyton, let's say March,
there's a non zero chance he's like, why.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Not sign him? Just not nearly as much as Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Yeah, it wasn't that they didn't want him. It's just
that Carolina had deeper pockets at the time.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Fre Congration, Walmart and you.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Can't shut Yeah, come on, if we're up to me.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Although the guy who owns the Panthers is filthy loaded.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
To Oh yeah they all, I mean they all are.
They're billion dollar teams, too.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Busy throwing drinks on people at the stadium.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Yeah, he has some issues, I think.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Right.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Uh, this is the point I wanted to make. As
we get down to the end. Here. This is.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
There might be a lot of fans out there these
last two games that are like, I'm I'm tuned out
right this this game doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
This season no longer matters.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
And I just have a counterpoint to that at maybe
a thought experiment to run through your own brain, and
that is this game absolutely matter, maybe the Nebraska one
more than the Maryland one. But when you look back
and you have all these conversations that you get into
on Twitter or with your buddies or maybe you're friends
with Iowa State people, God bless you, and you know,

(32:58):
you go, you get into an argument and they're like, well,
Iowa you know he's never make a big game. And
you're like, oh, well, Iowa State's the worst program in
all of football history. And some of the things you
fall back on are Iowa wins eight games every year, right,
Iowa has all these trophy games that they win every year.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
They just house these trophies.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
And there's two very important games on the line that
are that have implications on that final record and a
season that you will look back on and say, well,
even in our worst season, we beat Nebraska. Even in
our worst season, we were three and one in trophy
like that. There is something to play for here, not
just for the players, but it's at stake for the fans.

(33:41):
And I think you're lying to yourself if you say
you're not invested in these games. Still, I think Kinnick
on Black Friday is gonna be a sellout. There's gonna
be seventy thousand drunk Hawkeye fans that are very enthused
to go watch that game. These seniors only have a
couple opportunities left. And I remember this time.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Of senior year, Kevin, we were six and four.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Things start to get and it's still felt like everything
was on the line because your career is quite literally
it's narrowing it.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
It's narrowing it.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
It was Yeah, I remember just being like it's scary.
It's like, oh my god, dude, right, we're a week
and a half away from being done.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Every day feels like it just slips away. Yeap.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
So there's a lot to play for. Eight and four
is still respectable at the end of this year. If
you go and win a Bowl game, nine and four
is respectable.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Not a lot of teams won nine games.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
More, don't than do.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Opportunities and another bull trip of travel and experiences for
these for the guys on this team. If you if
you care further than just the jersey, and you care
about the guys in the jersey, you.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Care about the program man, like just heading into the future,
Like yeah, it's easier to commit to a nine to
three team or a nine and four team than six
and six team, six and seven, seven and.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Six, every Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
You just care about leaving the program in a good
place that's been good to you for however long you've
been there where it's five years or a year and
a half exactly.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
So that's what I got to say on that. I
don't have much else on this game. I Maryland supposedly
has a pretty talented quarterback and maybe according to KF
maybe the deepest three receivers in the in the conference
that's including Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Their offense is pretty good. They've been in a weird
they've been like a we outgained this opponent and lost situation.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Well, I mean that's that's iwa was m oh we
rarely gain outgain opponents. But I don't have a lot
of As always, I don't have a lot of matchup or.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Game.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, I watched Maryland versus Northwestern. That's the only Maryland
Terrapins film I've watched this year. They have one really
good receiver, apparently k since they have two more not as.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Good as him, but yeah, quality.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
What do you think of the stadium? I thought the
stadium was a decent place to play, kind of like
that little like a little mini bowl.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah, it wasn't bad. It wasn't bad. The locker room
was dogshit locker room.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
It's a good stadium if you're if you've ever been
to a ugly.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Uniforms and yeah, really ugly logo.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
So you just hate the state flag Maryland.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
I do.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
Yes, that's not they didn't invent that, just that's just
the state flag, I know.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
And it's horrible.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Why do we have like a twelfth century coat of
arms for our state flag?

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Like well, and here's the thing, you have a you're
one of the when you're talking about mascots, you're a Terrapin, right, that's.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
A turtle.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
Is a form of tortoise, I believe.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
So you're one of the only schools who has a
turtle or form of turtle as your mascot.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
Come up with something cool.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Oh, they got a cool little Turpa turple logo. Okay,
kind of like kind of like we got to hurt
the Herku one where he.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Charged use that dude, use a savage ass turtle as
your logo.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
I have watched a few nature documentaries in my day,
and you know that when turtles are born, there's a
lot of birds that go picking off all them turtles
trying to dash into the sea.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
So this is a good one for the hawks.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Then huh says anything about it?

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Hold on, hold on, here's another. Here's another one. Turtles
should be the scared of the hawks.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
Oh that was confused. I was I'm gonna be out.
I didn't. I don't know where you're going with that one.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Yeah, I'm just trying to get I'm just trying to
get the uh, just trying to get the old thumbnails.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
I think when I was in seventh grade, I accidentally
got locked inside of Maryland's Stadium, like trying to trying
to explore it on my own if my dad. We
got like passed. We followed someone through like doors that
don't and I locked on the out the inside. We
didn't have like badges or anything to get through, so
we accidentally got like stuck in the I liked the stadium.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
For those are wondering how big and spacious and nice
the opposing locker room was.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
I don't know if they've changed it, but if they haven't,
it is quite literally.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Think of like your mid two thousand's middle school locker room.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
It's that, and it might be worse than that.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
It's it's it's like it's a bench in the middle,
like a standard park bench without a back. You know,
you got two steaks in the ground and a plywood
over it, and there's lockers around the perimeter.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
The room might have been sixty by twenty. Maybe it
was unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
You would have loved our D three Uh class It's
just a classroom, locker room.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Yeah, yeah, Grant, could you pull up real quick before
we go into the awards winners share, try and get out
of here.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
A little early tonight. Could you pull up the old
g bone top twenty five?

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Oh shoot, okay, we.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Have the one that matters.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
We haven't talked about this and forever.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
That's why I'm bringing it up.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
Okay, hold on my computers frozen. Actually, wow, unbelievable. The Yeah,
the new I will say this is the most not
this top twenty five. I think this is fine, but
the new college football one is some of the most
delusional stuff I've ever seen in my entire life.

Speaker 1 (39:30):
No, immediately you go to the tie for sixth here
with your ten potentially ten and two SEC teams correct.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
And and you try and rank, you try and rank
these teams.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
No, I know, I don't have any I don't have.
I think the bias towards Georgia and Alabama.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Yeah, I mean Tennessee beat Bama, who got beat by Georgia,
who got beat by All miss who lost to almost
lost to con Tucky Kentucky, who's not ranked, and they
also lost to LSU, who's no longer ranked.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
What are your guys' thoughts on the current discourse and
conversation online about the SEC pushing for basically like as
many teams as they can possibly get in and just
shitting all over Indiana and saying that they should not
get in if Indiana loses a single game.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
Well, why are you going after Indiana when there's a
team right in there as well, at number six right now,
not in this pool that lost to Northern Illinois at home? Like,
what why are you so oud at Indiana? Like that,
even if they lose to Ohio State, they have an
argument like Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois, Why why
are you talking about them?

Speaker 3 (40:39):
I will say this, like Indiana's ten and oh, and
they're having a great season, and they've looked good in
those ten games too, Like they're act just squeaking by
ten and oh they've look good.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Yeah, they're handling them.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
But their toughest, when I believe, is a five and
five Michigan.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Sure, and I understand, I understand, I have Washington, I think,
and that's I get that.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Here's the problem is part of this twelve team playoff,
like when you extend it to twelve, you should be
extending it to a place where if there's a team,
any team with one loss, unless it's a any power
team with one loss power four m at twelve teams,

(41:26):
that team should be.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
In probably Yes, yeah, I'm I'm totally there. All I'm
saying is that as of Thursday morning, the week before
the Ohio State game, Indiana's to me is still a
little bit of an unknown quantity here. I would agree
with what they do this weekend will be huge even
if they don't win, Like if they're within like the

(41:48):
score the spread is two touchdowns, Like if they cover
the spread, like there's no question there.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Third grant? How bad?

Speaker 1 (41:55):
How much money would you pay to secure an Army
victory over Notre Dame this weekend?

Speaker 4 (42:02):
Like I just I write a number down and it happens. Yeah,
I don't know. I think it would be fun for
the the world could be. I think it'd be just
fun for the world because then it also there's a
we joked around I think like three weeks ago about
like because I think Hassel brought up of like, hey,
what if the big towl just got left out?

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (42:19):
I mean yes, I mean then only wins this game.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
They're gonna have a serious, serious discussion.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
Right, They've got me in.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
There is still a chance. Yeah, because I don't think.
I don't know, Army's last.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Game of the year.

Speaker 1 (42:34):
It is a championship, Okay, so it is okay, they're
probably gonna beat Navy. Like, you can't leave undefeated Army
out of the twelve. Again, you know it's Army. It's
not a like you cannot leave an undefeated This can't
be a Florida State situation from last year. You got
to put an undefeated team in there. So the way
this is set up, say Oregon wins the Big Ten,

(42:57):
somebody wins the SEC, Boise State wins their conference.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
Yeah, and you can't leave a Boise State team that's
only lost is a single possession to the number one.

Speaker 4 (43:09):
By three on the road to the number one ranked team.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
The Miami win. Miami wins the ACC. Now all of
a sudden, the top four I don't know about that.

Speaker 3 (43:16):
SMU is looking like.

Speaker 1 (43:18):
The okay one or the other right, Like the Big
twelve is in trouble, especially if the team's at the
top continue like they lose and.

Speaker 4 (43:29):
Like look at this weekend b y U is an
underdog to Arizona State and then Colorado I think is
only a three point favorite to Kansas. Yeah, Like if
those two lose, it is it's it's looking bleak.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
I don't think chaos.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
I don't think a two loss Big twelve team gets
in Champion.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
Champion does just because there will be rides.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
If they don't you think you think that.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
I think Champions squeezes in as.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
The last team because that team's not going to be
ranked in a spot that they get it out large.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
Or the movie My rankings look very different than the
actual right.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
No, I understand, I understand so in the act, So
keep pull up the actual rankings rant just for your
saken argument here.

Speaker 3 (44:09):
Don't think no Big twelve gets an automatic bit.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
No, it's just the whole five. It's the five high
strand conference champions. It's not a specific conference.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
Oh fux. So Armies could could be literally Army as
an American, they'd be ranked above them.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
The Big Twelve is collectively cheering for Army and Boise
State to ship down their leg because there is a
real situation where b YU is your or Colorado is
your highest ranked Big twelve team and they're the champion
of the conference and it isn't in a spot ranking
wise where it gets them in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
Yeah they're not. But I think I think the committee
would pull some committee as stuff and.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
Just I agree with you that they would be like
they would rank.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
Mental gymnastics and then yeah, yeah, yeah, we need a
Big twelve team in here just for TV rates, right right, Oh,
like they did some serious mental gymnastics to leave Florida
State out last year.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
Sure did. That's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
And so they've they've shown they have no hesitancy about
doing it, so they'll do it again.

Speaker 1 (45:11):
If the SEC had their way, it might just be
an old SEC playoff, all right, So pull that back up.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
Who's got a real shot of getting in? Besides, you're
four tied for six teams. Those are the wines out there.
They've got a decent h I.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
Would it's it's Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas, A
and M.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
Texas and Texas.

Speaker 3 (45:35):
Well Texas, Yeah, but Texas does not have an impressive win.

Speaker 4 (45:40):
Texas has the same amount of impressive wins as Indiana
right now.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
I mean it's true.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
This is the actual top twenty five right now, this is.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
The actual top twenty five.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
So you've got Texas at three, Bammut seven, Ole Miss
at nine, Georgia at ten, to Tennessee at eleven, a
M at fifteen.

Speaker 3 (45:58):
I mean, Texas A and M might play in the
conference championship.

Speaker 4 (46:00):
They could. I think they're gonna lose this weekend, but
we don't know that officially yet.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
I mean, yeah, they've got Auburn in Texas to close
it out. But I mean, if Texas A and M
wins out and Texas loses that game, goes ten to
two with no impressive wins. Does Texas get left out?

Speaker 4 (46:19):
I think if Texas lose the game, They're done. I'm
gonna be honest.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
I'm telling you right now at fourteen and sixteen, the
Big twelve is just they're playing with fire.

Speaker 4 (46:30):
I don't know how.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
And how.

Speaker 4 (46:33):
I still I want an explanation as to how BYU
beat SMU.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
That is the craziest thing and it is still ranked
behind them. That is the craziest thing on earth. Those
two should be flipped. And there's just no I just.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
I would love to hear the breakdown of that. And
then also how Maszoo.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
Has just I saw somebody grant You're gonna love this.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
I saw somebody hey statement loss, right, sure, statement loss.
I saw somebody arguing this point both nine and football teams.
SMU's loss is to BYU. BYU's loss is to who
somebody that's Kansas, Kansas. They looked right past the head
to head matchup of two nine and one football teams

(47:14):
to say, well, SMU has the better loss, and they
were legitimately arguing this and somehow failed to consider that
that loss is to the other team.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
In the conversation and it's just like.

Speaker 4 (47:29):
It's so rare, and when we get to this land
the season where we're comparing out of conference teams that
have won loss and there's like we actually have an
on field product right, a show like who might be better?
And then it's just totally thrown out the window, Like
I have no idea. Like last year when we were
in this situation with like Florida State and Alabama, like
we could have if they played each other Week three

(47:50):
or whatever, like byun SMU did. That would have been perfect,
right as they're like both going to be teetering for
a playoff spot, and then they just threw it out
the window. This year, they don't even care.

Speaker 2 (47:58):
I think, I think all the issues.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
How can we how can we wrangle in as much
viewers as much money from this college football playoff as
we possibly can't?

Speaker 2 (48:06):
Absolutely?

Speaker 4 (48:07):
Well, that's my other thing too, is like, so let's
say so the Big twelves in kind of jeopardy right now, right,
but like the b YU beat currently the highest ranked
team in the a CC, yeah, or the second highest.
I don't know how how Miami managed to do what
they've done this season. It's still squeezed in there with
Alabama and Ole Miss in Georgia baffles me. There's no

(48:30):
clue how they've done that. But like I sometimes should
the ACC be in more trouble? Like why are we
just ignoring the a CC.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
Yes, they should be.

Speaker 1 (48:39):
I don't know, it's a I sent some more changes
coming in the structure of the playoff because they're running
into a lot of issues, specifically with like how those
top four seeds shake.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
Out the rules around those.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
I wouldn't be surprised if if this thing goes to
fourteen or sixteen teams very quickly.

Speaker 4 (49:00):
Well, people are gonna be really meant to if if
this ends up happening where like Georgia has two losses,
they're the last team in and then like Ohio State
or Oregon, who gets the five let's say, or Indiana
maybe it has to play Georgia gets rewarded with Georgia
in the first round after having an eleven to one, Hey,
go beat them, you know, Like that's that's when that's
when those teams have to prove it, like, hey, right, and.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Then that's the thing at the end of the day, right,
this is this is all determined who is the best
team in college football this year. Once you're in, it's
just like, Okay, you're in. If you are the best team,
like Cluer said, go prove it you you beat the
beat the other best teams in the country.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
I will say this, there's nothing I want more than
like a twelve seed Georgia or Alabama to have to
go up to a snowy.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Game in Penn State playoff game.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
What I think right now, there's two SEC road games
up north.

Speaker 1 (49:58):
I want if it end today, if this was it,
it would have two I believe. I want Alabama in
the snow against Ohio State and the Horseshoe Like.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
I want that so bad. We've always talked about it.

Speaker 1 (50:12):
Bring an SEC team the last week in November to
Kinnick Stadium at six thirty pm.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
Bring them here.

Speaker 4 (50:19):
I'll try and get it. Yeah, I'll try the actual.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
Because that's just like a normal home game. Right as
far as tickets go, like the opposing teams get like
they're a looted share, like five thousand tickets and that's
that's it. There could be a lot of game where
they get fifty to fifty.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
There could be a higher allotment, but it's not going
to be a fifty to fifty. It's going to be
I think part of the part of your seating is
that you get that home team advantage of like, yeah,
you get your normal it's going to be a home atmosphere.

Speaker 4 (50:47):
So this is it right now?

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Yeah, I mean those those those away games for that
first round, like it'll be tough. Like I think, yeah,
Ohio State wins at BYU just because they're better. But
you know, Georgia going to Penn State, like, god, probably
the better team. But that's that's a home field advantage
in a big, big.

Speaker 2 (51:09):
Way in the cold.

Speaker 4 (51:11):
According to DraftKings, the hypothetical spreads of these games would
be Georgia minus one at Penn State, Ole Miss minus
three and a half at Indiana, and then Alabama minus one.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
And God, I would, dude, I would. I'd be fine
with it.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
This would be awesome.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
Remind me what week in the first round is it
thinks after the Army Navy I.

Speaker 4 (51:34):
Think it's like the twentieth or something. I think it's
really close to Christmas, that's what it is today.

Speaker 3 (51:38):
That'd be the following week after the Army Navy.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
God, I would pay for these games right now. They
would be I'd be glued to the TV. You talk
about a guy who is very casually a watcher of
all of college football. I watch all the Hawkeye stuff, obviously, dude,
I would be glued to Georgia at Penn State.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
How are they going to time them out? We're going
to have like an eleven to one, a three in
a six thirty games.

Speaker 2 (52:00):
I don't know, but that quad box is going to
be going.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
It's probably just stacked it. I think two of these
games are one day and then two of these games
for the next day. Oh okay, yeah, I do love
the scenario though, of Ohio State, who's the number two team,
has to win a game to play the number twelve team.

Speaker 3 (52:18):
No, honestly, yeah, that is about as good as a
path is you could want for Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Well, then that's what they that's what they say.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
The best thing going back to Oregon, who you probably.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
Shouldn't be the best place to go is to be
the five seed because then you get this, You get
this higher seeded outside of the bracket, you get a
higher seeded last conference champion.

Speaker 4 (52:45):
Right now, would it make a ton of sense, though,
for Ohio State to have to play So let's say
they play to in the Big Ten Championship. This is
the bracket, so then they have to play Oregon a
third time to get to the championship.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
I think of Ohio State loses the Big Ten champion ship,
they're not going to be the number two, right, Okay.

Speaker 4 (53:03):
Yeah, that would probably seed.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
I think they would try to either way.

Speaker 4 (53:07):
If Organs in that spot, they would just eventually wind
back around to playing them again, would they?

Speaker 1 (53:12):
There's a chance, but possibly, Right, it's what you're gonna
get when you have a twelve team playoff and a
couple of great teams in a single conference. Either way,
it's going to be exciting, and I think it's going
to continue to.

Speaker 2 (53:22):
Evolve, but it will still always be exciting. Let's do some.

Speaker 5 (53:25):
Uhh, Kevin, and all we do is win, not all
we do, but we do a lot of winning.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
There's a lot of good winning.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
About the profitable right Yeah.

Speaker 1 (53:44):
Fun segment A Wards winners brought to you by could
be you, could be your comp could be your company?
Do you want to sponsor awards winners? All sell it
for bottom dollar? We currently have no sponsor there as
is right now. If you have a company fifty bucks.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
Start the bidding.

Speaker 4 (54:00):
Where are you what negotiation tactic?

Speaker 1 (54:03):
Is this better than the negotiation that currently we're making
zero dollars on a segment sponsorship and we could be
making ten dollars.

Speaker 2 (54:11):
That's a ten x profit increase.

Speaker 3 (54:13):
Grant's right there. Hell yeah, no free ads.

Speaker 1 (54:16):
We're gonna actually have to do twenty dollars because that's
one's a snack, two's a meal.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
All kick this off. I'm serious about that sponsorship.

Speaker 1 (54:23):
By the way, gym's flooring could be sponsoring awards winners
whenever you want, Jim, I'm gonna kick this one off.
We're going right to that Indiana Ohio state game. I
think Indiana is playing with that fire that we did
in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 2 (54:36):
keV.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
There's a little external motivation when you haven't been broken yet.
That adds just a little element to it. And yes,
they're underdogs by quite a bit this weekend. I think
they're going to keep it close. They're plus thirteen going
into the horseshoe. Give me Indiana to cover plus thirteen
against the Buckeyes.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
This pick is ill advised, this next one.

Speaker 1 (54:59):
By the opening of the show, in the twenty minutes
that we hyped up Jackson Stratton. Have me believe me, Okay,
I'm in the stratosphere. Iowa minus six at Maryland. They
might know something we don't actually with that, they might
know who Jackson Stratton is and what he's capable of.
He has been has Grant put it unlocked by Tim Lester.

(55:20):
Jackson's taken us to the promised Landman Iowa Hawkeyes minus
six this weekend.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
I'm gonna regret that.

Speaker 1 (55:27):
Uh so ridiculous, old faithful at this point, an Appalachian
State can play some football, especially.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
When they're home.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
But JMU has just been so trusty. When I take
them JMU minus seven.

Speaker 4 (55:44):
We'll see astutes. No, they haven't been the usual this year, No,
they have. I would feel better better about that than you.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
More minus seven and I'm actually doing four picks today.
I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (55:57):
I think Colorado and Dion Sanders they're in a bit
of a trap situation here, and the line says so
they're only minus three against Kansas. Kansas is not a
good football team this year, but they had an exciting
game against Iowa State.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
They've caught a little bit momentum.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
I think Colorado is on a war path and they're
they're trying to prove people wrong. There's a massive chip
on their shoulders over there in Boulder.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
Give me Colorado minus three. Those are my four.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Picks of the day of the week. Grant do I go, Okay,
everybody love gradorr Pop.

Speaker 3 (56:31):
We're in those segments of the Grand Schemes of the
Week or something like that.

Speaker 4 (56:36):
The alliteration Awards winners is good though, and then we
gotta you gotta remix a new song. It's I don't know.

Speaker 3 (56:42):
I like so hard on that.

Speaker 4 (56:46):
Hey, the branding rights that song are super expensive. I
went double platinum in twenty twenty. I have Kansas plus
three and a half to start. I just I like
what Kansas is doing right now. They can win out,
potentially go to a Bull game. They've just been the
kicking the right to the Big Twelve Conference and kind
of to just the playoff this whole year, the past monthly.
So I'm gonna ta Kansas plus three and a half

(57:06):
and then on the other side, Arizona State minus three
a half. I'm starting to think Arizona State might just
be the best team in the Big Twelve.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
There.

Speaker 4 (57:11):
I feel like a sneaky sneaky got a chance two
lost team right now. And you see on game day
last week they're playing Kansas State, and like Desmond was like,
why are we even talking about these guys? Like we
don't care about them? A little motivation maybe their forum
still going to this week Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (57:26):
Mystere I just.

Speaker 4 (57:27):
Respect the troops. Take an Army plus fourteen and a
half at the pinch Stripe Bowl or not, well, I
guess it's Yankee Stadium, but.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
Where that would be.

Speaker 4 (57:36):
So I'm taking Army plus fourteen a half, Auburn PUS
two and a half versus Texas A and m Fresno
taking on Jackson Stratton's former school, cord of State this weekend.
Card State could be in the Mountain West Championship game.
They're own a pretty solid season, but I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (57:51):
Take if they had Jackson Stratton, they damn sure would be.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
I mean, we have no evidence against that right now.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
No, No, it's it's the Jackson Stratton tim Lester's legal.

Speaker 4 (58:01):
H Someone the key, someone has to unlock Jackson's You're right,
you're right, Yeah, presdent of minus three of UCLA plus
four and a half versus USC kind of I'm excited
to see this one in the Big ten little classic
revalry there Duke plus three versus Virginia tech uts a
minus sixteen.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
Uh stinks.

Speaker 4 (58:23):
Well, I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember who they're playing.
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (58:29):
I don't know who they're playing. I wrote it down,
I wrote this down earlier this morning, and I don't
remember who they're playing.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
But you love them, you feel good about it.

Speaker 4 (58:36):
But it's a great regardless Wisconsin plus two and a
half versus Nebraska this one. I don't need any stats.
I don't need anything except did you guys see the
quote earlier this week that Dylan Roylo guaranteed victory?

Speaker 3 (58:49):
Oh no, oh that's bad. So that's a freshman mistake
right there.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (58:56):
He may t hate him.

Speaker 4 (58:57):
By the way, there was like I think I could
find it eventually, but there was an on three post
where he guaranteed victory.

Speaker 1 (59:01):
So minus seventeen against Temple, by the way, I love it.

Speaker 4 (59:07):
The Owls, all the Owls. Have someone sent me their
grant Best out of the year. Every single team that
has an OWL as their head coach fired their coach
this year. It's a horrible time to be an owl.
It's like, thank you for sharing, right, fau just fired
the Temple and fau Kennesaw State fired their coach. There

(59:27):
the Owls, they fired the only coach they've ever had,
that was their only coach ever and they fired them.
That's tough.

Speaker 2 (59:34):
It's tough out there.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
But yeah, I'm taking Wisconsin was the summary of that
conversation plus two and a half. Uh, and then Minnesota
plus eleven and a half versus Penn State. I just
look at that. I like that one too, and it's like,
why why is that the line? That seems very strange?
And I don't know, Minnesota has been a little hot.
It's a it's cold up there. That's only and that's

(59:56):
exactly what they want you to think. That's exactly what
they want you to think.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
All right. They're they're playing a game with you, Kevin.

Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
They're that's why they're dangling that eleven at you. All right, Oh,
what could happen?

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
It could be wrong, it could it could I don't know.
I'm not good at this.

Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
And then.

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Not financial advice.

Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
I don't know. I just I just told you I'm
taking Wisconsin because.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Of a quote that's Hey, that's that's solid right there.

Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
That's worth at least a fraction of a point.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
That's a lock.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Mississippi State plus seven. Uh, they're not good this year,
but why is that line seven? That screams issues for them?
So I'm gonna take Missippi State there and then that's it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
Those are all the picks.

Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
I'm telling you, man, the analysis is worth your wait
and go.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
If if you, as a potential sponsor this segment don't
think the Grants analysis of games is worth its weight
in fucking gold, then you are out of your mind.

Speaker 4 (01:00:50):
I also don't remember who Missoppi State's playing. Missouri? Oh yeah, Missouri?
What are they still doing in the They're the most
fraudulent ranked team out there? That's how are they still
in there? I think that's a very lower Who is
their pr department that's kept them in the rankings. I
don't really like Eli Drinkwitz. I don't really like what
it's going on in Missouri right now. So I'm gonna

(01:01:11):
take missip State. That was my real analysis. I had
to look it up first. Who's the UTSA playing again?

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
As Temple.

Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Loves it even more? Fuck the mouse all right, all right,
I'm also going to be on that Indiana game. I
will take the Hoosiers. I got a thirteen and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
I do think they're a good football team, and I
do think that they will be able to keep this
one close because I yeah, they've got talented players and
they play good football and they're well coached. So I
think I think Indiana can keep this one close. So
I'll take the thirteen and a half there. I'm gonna
go down to Bama minus thirteen and a half, so

(01:01:58):
I have a couple of thirteen absolute favorite when when
dog Bama min thirteen and a half verse at Oklahoma.
Oklahoma is having a rough year. I don't think they're
a very good team. They've got quarterback issues, They've got
a bunch of issues. I think Bama will cruise the
victory there. I also like that U. C l a
plus four and a half grant, so it's a good

(01:02:20):
pick out there. I think I think U. C l
A is a I've got a new found respect for him.
They play hard football and they play they play really
physical and I think they could give USC some issues.
So hm hmm, yeah, two more that I don't really love.

Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
Oh those are those are the best ones usually for Grant.
The ones that really stink keV. Those are just give it,
just just hand them.

Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Yeah, I mean, okay, fine, I'll take Penn State minus
eleven and oh there is Yeah, I've been on the
wrong side of the What do you.

Speaker 4 (01:02:54):
Mean you don't love it? You told you were laughing
in my face when I picked Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
You mean you don't love it?

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
I don't love it because I've been on the wrong
side of the Minnesota bet. I think times this year. Okay,
Michigan collapsed first, then USC collapsed first. Then I had
them versus Rutgers, and I think I had I think
that's it. Maybe maybe I had them a fourth time.

(01:03:22):
But I cannot pick the right line side of the
Minnesota games. But we know what, We're gonna give it
another try give me Penn statement.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
I believe it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I don't know. Yeah, yeah, he brought to you turns
