Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the WZ Book Club. Hello, I'm Jordan Rich.
Believe it or not. In the year twenty thirty, our
fair city of Boston will celebrate its four hundredth anniversary.
Boston is a city packed with history, so here's a
book to check out, particularly if you're a fan of
historic Boston and its architecture. It's called Boston's Oldest Buildings
and Where To Find Them by Joseph M. Bagley. The
book takes a look at fifty of the oldest buildings
(00:22):
in Boston, with locations and the history behind each building.
Most of these historic structures are located along the Freedom Trail,
and once you know where they are and how to
find them, it should be a lot of fun to
explore further. A wide array of buildings ranging from early
homes to churches, to taverns and warehouses. The oldest structure
is the James Blake House on Columbia Road, built in
(00:43):
sixteen sixty one. Number two in the list is more familiar,
the Paul Revere House. In the North End, there's the
Major John Pitcairn House, the Moses Pierce House, the Ebenezer
Clow House, and of course the Old State House. The
oldest public building in Boston, and that's the book Club.
