I've always been a fan of Dean Koontz. I consider
him one of the stars and the pantheon of great
horror and suspense writers. And I just read the first
in a series of books featuring a character called Odd Thomas.
But a young man, an ordinary fry cook and a
diner who has a unique paranormal gift. He can see
dead people, and he often interacts with them, even though

none of them speak. From local neighbors who have passed
away to Elvis Presley, a regular visitor, Odd Thomas, as
he's known, he's helped the police solve and even prevent crimes.
In this first of several novels, evil invades a small
community in California, and Odd Thomas is writing his own
memoir about the experience. He's a different kind of hero who,
with the help of a master writer like Dean Koontz,
