This is the WBZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. I'm
deep into a book by James Elroy, a book called Perfidia.
It's a novel, and like all James Elroy books, it
features real life as well as fictional characters during big
events in our history. In Perfidia, we meet Hideo Ashida,
who works for the LAPD, and the timing here is
critical days before December seventh, nineteen forty one. The novel

takes place over twenty three days and offers up other
interesting characters, including Ka Lake, a young lady seeking adventure
from Dublin, Ireland, an LAPD sergeant named Dudley Smith, and
a real life character William H. Parker, at the time
a captain with the Police Department and a heavy drinker
