Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the WZ Book Club. I'm Jordan. Rich Richard A.
Stone has written a terrific book about something very close
to home. It's called Project Mayflower, Building and sailing a
seventeenth century replica. As most of us know, it's called
the Mayflower two, a replica of the ship that in
sixteen twenty brought Pilgrims to the New World, visited by
millions yearly and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

(00:23):
But the origins of Project Mayflower begin in the nineteen fifties,
inspired not by an American but by a British World
War II vet who took on what seemed an impossible
task to build a historically accurate replica and then sailor
across the Atlantic, just as the Pilgrims did, ultimately presenting
the ship as a gesture of thanks to the United
States Britain's wartime Ally. This is the story of struggle

(00:44):
as well as adventure, get the funding to find the crew,
even to negotiate the sailing during a time of political
strife in the Middle East. A magnificent story about an
American symbol and a gift from Great Britain. Project Mayflower
by Richard A. Stone, the book Club. W'za z, Boston's
