original Arthur Conan Doyle. To those who attempted and succeeded
in bringing Holmes back to life. Chief among them is
celebrated author and film director Nicholas Meyer. Now his latest
is called Sherlock Holmes and the Real Thing, and I
haven't had a chance to read that one yet, but
I am very involved right now in one called The

This one, published in nineteen ninety three by the author
of The Seven Percent Solution, starts off with a bang,
as a missing manuscript by doctor Watson presents a new
story about the great Sherlock Holmes, one in which the
great detective, allegedly killed in the fall with the evil
doctor Moriarty, assumes another identity and gets a job playing

violin at the Paris Opera House, only to discover murder,
mystery and perhaps a ghost in the opera house. Sound familiar, well,
it certainly is a great pastiche by Nicholas Meyer. The
