crafted novel by local author J.B. Harris is The Immigrant's Wife,
set in nineteen thirteen Boston, andMacintosh is in love with a Greek immigrant,
Charles Petrinos. Rebelling against her closedminded parents, Anne lopes and finds
early happiness with Charles despite their incrediblyhard living conditions. She becomes pregnant and

another woman or perhaps ran off towar or worse, and struggles to raise
her baby, finding herself ostracized,facing sexual assault and starvation. What she
doesn't know is that Charles has caughttuberculosis, and in that era with no
cure, He's exiled to a sanitariumand cuts off communication to protect his wife
