Hello, and welcome to the WBZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich,
always on the hunt for another good horror novel and
a fresh take on some traditional tropes. I just discovered
a writer for the first time that you may know of,
Ronald Malfie, and I started with one of his books
called The Narrows. It takes place in a little town
called Stillwater, a town that has been dying due to
industry drying up and floods that have ravaged the area.

The most recent flood was not only devastating to businesses
and property, but it brought with it something evil, a
dark and foreboding creature that consumes the energy of young children,
stealing them from their families and sending them out vampire
style to cause more death and destruction. The writing very
much in the style of a Stephen King, where characters
are drawn realistically, and in this case, the heroes include

a teenage girl whose brother is gone missing and a
young single police sergeant tasked with fighting something he has
trouble believing. The Narrows was published about ten years ago,
and I can't wait to read more from this talented writer,
