(00:00):
Hardy and truck Bed on ninety eightpoint seven w OVK the Valley's country favorite.
It's Corey kluegear with you as you'remaking that great escape from work.
Appreciate you tuning in here on thisWednesday hump day, and certainly someone I
hope has not woken up in atruck bed before, but still somebody very
important to the Wheeling Naylors here onour first Wheeling Nailor Wednesday at twenty twenty
four. Matthew Corsi has stopping byhere. So first of all, Q,
(00:21):
thanks so much for us I'm byhere to talk today. Awesome,
thanks for having me. And secondof all, pretty eventful way for you
guys to wrap up twenty twenty three. Not just with back to back wins
over the Norfolk Admirals, but youguys may not play them all that often,
but it just seems like these matchupsget so physical. Yeah, I
think it kind of carried over fromlast year's. I think I think we
(00:41):
played them probably like eight times.I want to say, got pretty physical
there after the first game. Atthe end of the game, I think
that carried over the Sunday's game andthat one obviously, I ended pretty physical
as well. Yeah, you sudyou should know about it carrying over to
Sunday because you were pretty heavily involvedwith some of the stuff happening in the
first period of Sunday's game. Butafter you got pestered a little bit after
(01:03):
the minute little mini scrum in thefirst period, you're able to come through
with the go ahead goal just aclapper of a slap shots. So I
know that kind of doesn't rank ashigh as scoring an overtime winning goal in
a game seven of a playoff serieslike you did a couple of years ago,
But where does How does it feeljust like after being pestered so much
by a team, just sticking itto them and scoring the goal, Yeah,
(01:26):
it feels pretty good obviously. Youguys know the game, a lot
of chirping going on out there, and when you're able to get on the
score sheet the other way obviously, then getting in the box other stuff like
that and kind of showing it intheir face a little bit, it obviously
feels good. The whole play wasa great play by r PK on that
one, so it was it wasgreat to put that in the back of
(01:48):
the net and get a little monkeyoff the back there. Haven't scored in
a game in a little bit,so, but I had to have felt
good to get it, just toeven get one win against Norrifilk, but
also two wins against them, becausethey're not the show that they used to
be a couple of years ago.No, No, they're they're a very
good team. They're high up intheir division right now. Those were two
big, big important wins. Andwe talk about it all year. We
(02:09):
played teams once or twice or fourtimes, we gotta we gotta take both
or three and close out that islandwe call it. It's kind of been
our model all year, and andwe did that this weekend again. Matthew
Corsia of the Wheeling Naylors joining mehere on a Wheeling Naylor Wednesday. So
this is your third season with theNailers. Unfortunately you lost pretty much all
of last season because of an injury. But what has stood out to you
(02:31):
the most about your tenure and Wheelingand what have you enjoyed the most about
it? I think the biggest thingfor me is inside that locker room.
It's one of the most special teamsand organizations I've been a part of my
whole career. Derek does a greatjob of bringing us together, keeping us
close in a tight knit group, and we love carrying that out onto the
ice. I think fancy that.I think they enjoy that, that we
(02:53):
all stick up for each other. We all enjoy each other's company here and
and obviously I just I just lovethe city, these fans, and it's
a great place to play. Yeah, it's clear that the fans do love
you here you become one of thefan favorites of the team. But also
some of the stuff you've done inthe community with the Salvation Army, you've
done the same Baldric's news shaving ofthe head the last couple of the last
couple of years. So what doesall that mean to you when it comes
(03:15):
to being an nailer. It's veryimportant. I mean, we're we're doing
the thing we absolutely love to doevery day. I get to put a
jersey on my back every day, practice, play, whatever it is,
and there's people out there that aren'table to do things like that. So
it's very important for me to giveback to the community, make sure people
that aren't necessarily in good situations getto feel good every day and we can
(03:38):
do whatever we can help. Soback to the action on the ice here.
You guys get to start twenty twentyfour with a road trip that would
make a lot of people jealous. You guys get to go to sunny Orlando,
Florida for some games Friday, Saturday, and Mondays. So during that
off day on Sunday, anything fun, plan to maybe tour the city you
(04:00):
a little bit and enjoy the sunshine. I know a couple boys have talked
about it. I'm getting my dadto work hun it. Right now,
we're trying trying to set up alittle golf day. You don't get the
warm weather a lot up here, obviously, it's pretty chilly. I love
the golf, so I'm hoping toget a little golf in, hopefully after
a couple of wins day before andthen just a little preview of what's to
come, because you do. Youguys do have only three home games in
(04:23):
the month, but one pretty bigone happening next Saturday, which is Super
Nailor's World. Pretty much a throwbackto some of the retro video games that
you might have enjoyed as a kid. So it's more Mario Center than anything
else. So just a couple ofa couple of little fun things here before
I let you go. Did youever play any of those kind of video
games back then when you were growingup? Growing up, I was a
(04:43):
sports guy. I feel like Iwas always playing MLB NHL those types of
games I got into obviously when yougot the week came out, Mario Kart
and Mario Super Sluggers were my twofavorites. Nice, But we have been
we have been grinding in the room. We've been playing Mario Party a lot
in our uh In Bunner's room andKoopy with them and Lobuolett, so we've
been playing in there a little MarioKart as well. So we've been we've
(05:06):
been on it this year. We'reexcited for that night. I think all
of us like love a little throwbackstuff. So the Mario Party being held
in either Davis Buns, Matt Coopman, or Peter Lobulette's locations, so pretty
much a place I gotta go rightthere if you want to get if you
want to get into Mario Party. But let's say we do put you in
like a Mario Kart situation, Whichcharacter are you choosing and why I said
(05:29):
this today, I'm gonna go withYoshi. I don't know. I just
feel like everyone loves him. Ifeel like he's someone you can't hate on,
so I'm gonna go with him.I feel like he's fast and sneaky
too, so I just feel likelike the way he way he turns,
it's kind of the I wouldn't say, I don't think every dynamics kind of
the word for it, but he'sjust able to corner a little bit better.
Not necessarily the fastest, but itdoes hate off a little bit exactly.
So again, Matthew Corsia and alot of good things happening for the
(05:54):
rest of the Wheeling Nailors here.Of course, the big road trip to
Orlando this weekend, but some morehome games coming up the following weekend January
twelfth through the fourteenth. Make sureyou come on out and support the guys
because they are up to some reallyhuge things this season. But of course,
whether home or away, they playover on her sister station Mix ninety
seven three, so you'll be ableto check them out that way as well.
So Cube, thank you so muchfor stopping in here. Best of
(06:15):
luck the rest of the way Intwenty twenty four. Awesome, thanks for
having me. And in case you'rewondering how important it is to have people
pack West Banko Arena, some attendanceby the numbers was done recently and total
attendance through sixteen home games has alreadysurpassed thirty thousand fans for the season.
And just put it all in perspectivehere how important it is to have people
inside West Banko Arena the last coupleof seasons through sixteen home games, and
(06:38):
Naylers have been hovering around five hundredthis year though their home record ten five
and one through sixteen home games. So very important to have butts in seats,
and your butt ought to be ina sea for a Naylor's game at
some point in twenty twenty four,so make sure you check them out if
you can. But as always,if you're not able to make it out
to a home game or if they'reon the road like they will be this
weekend, you can catch all theaction on mixed ninety seven Morgary Country coming
(07:00):
to after the break, we'll kickit all off with Thomas Rhetz, so
stay tuned in ninety eight point sevenw OVK
