(00:00):
Corey klugear with you as you makethat great escape from work. Thank you
so much for tuning in here andjust in time, because, as I
mentioned yesterday, Wheeling Naylor Wednesday couldn'thappen because they were playing in Toledo.
So Wheeling Naylor Wednesday is happening ona Thursday. So if your recall,
Jordan Frasca had himself a heck ofa weekend and found himself in the studio.
Tanner Laerut was able to do thesame thing this past weekend and now
(00:20):
he's here in studio joined me thisweek. So Tanner, first of all,
thanks so much for taking some timeout to talk. Oh this is
awesome. Thank you. And secondof all, I asked Jordan this being
able to break through just feeling goodabout it. It feels like the stick
feels a little bit better in yourhands and everything else, so just take
it through your perspective. Finally gettingthe monkey off your back and finding the
back of the net. It's beenawesome. I have to showed out my
(00:42):
line mates and teammates. You know, you can't do without them, So
they've been setting me up pretty welland I've been able to find them back
in the net and that was ableto spark an offensive outburst in the second
period that led you to a winto Idaho. Now, unfortunately the weekend
didn't go as planned. Idaho wontwo of the three games that weekend.
But what are your takeaways from aweekend like that? Being able to hang
(01:03):
with a tough team like Idaho likethat because the last year plus, not
many teams can say that they've beatenIdaho in a game. Yeah. No,
definitely, even just going back tolast year, they broke the record
for the best regular season ever.So they just have that pedigree in that
team that knows how to win games. So I think we're pretty young and
we're learning, so just being ableto get one and then kind of stick
around with them is huge, andwe're going to take that with us through
(01:26):
the end of the year because ifyou want to win anything like a Kelly
Cup, you're gonna have to beatgood teams and win big games. Absolutely.
So the game I alluded to earlieryesterday mornings game over in Toledo,
the six' five thriller in ashootout that you guys are able to win.
You were able to get your fourthgoal of the season in that game
and just another tough team like Toledoin a tough division like the Central.
(01:48):
What does this say about the teambeing able to hang with such tough teams
like that. I think we're justvery resilient. The highs the lows,
doesn't really matter. We're willing toplay our game and make sure we stay
in the game and then win thosegames. You know, when we gave
up a little bit of a leadand made it a little too interesting,
I think, but it was funto get that win. And then just
the overall atmosphere of a school daygame, because you guys have three throughout
(02:10):
the course of the season, onemore on the road, and then of
course later on in the spring iswhen Wheeling at West Bank Arena will have
their school day games. So justdescribe the overall experience of a school day
game and just what all changes ina game like that. It's it's definitely
something new. I've never never doneanything like that, so it's awesome for
the kids. It's I think it'sreally great for hockey in general just to
(02:31):
have them there. I think they'rehaving so much fun, so kind of
just playing for them that day andhopefully they have fun, but trying to
get ready for a ten thirty game, waking up much earlier than expected,
not getting that pregame nap and thatnight before that sleep means it means so
much. So honestly I kind ofdid like it. You're kind of just
fresh in the morning and ready togo. You're not waiting around all day.
(02:51):
But definitely something to get used toagain. Tanner Latarue joining me here
for a wheeling Nailor Wednesday that's beenpostponed to a Thursday this week because of
the game yesterday. So you joinedwith the Nailers late last season, of
course you're back this season for yoursecond year. What are some of the
things that you've been able to pickup on from last season that has helped
you over into this season. Definitely, the systems is one thing for sure,
(03:14):
Just kind of knowing a little bitmore what to do and you're not
getting a little bit shell shocked tryingto learn everything. And then just getting
to know the guys like I knowall the Vets a little bit more so
when I came here this year,it wasn't like I was meeting everyone.
I kind of knew everyone a littlebit at least and then coach Eric Army's
just been awesome. He helps everyoneso much and he makes it so easy.
So it's just such a comfortable andeasy space to be in. Absolutely,
(03:36):
So you have a little bit ofan Indiana road trip this weekend.
You're in Indie tomorrow night and thenFort Wayne late Sunday afternoon before the annual
Thanksgiving Eve home game this coming Wednesday. Toledo will be stopping by this time
around for that, So what aresome of the keys to the weekend here?
That way you can go into thatThanksgiving Eve game with a little bit
of momentum, just keeping the momentumfrom a big, gutsy six y five
(03:58):
win, Just keep that rolling fromWednesday and making sure we're ready to start
the game on Friday, and thenkind of go into a little bit of
a lull on a Saturday in FortWayne, maybe catch a movie or something,
but relax and then get a bigwin on Sunday and have a happy
bus ride home so we can gointo the game against Toleda flying. And
then just a little bit of afun question here before I let you go,
because of course a Thanksgiving Eve game, that's kind of the interview I
(04:19):
have right before Thanksgiving with one ofyou guys. So I'll ask you the
question, the same question that Iasked my listeners last week, just presenting
the scenario to you. You're atthe big feast, you have your choice
of three sides to go with theturkey, ham, whatever main you're having
for the Thanksgiving dinner. What threesides are you choosing? I think stuffing
(04:42):
definitely has to be in there. Can't go wrong with some a type of
cheesy potato for sure. Yeah. And then third, it's not necessarily a
side, but have to have Cranberrysauce for the meat. So definitely a
big Cranberry sauce guy. I can'texactly echo those sentiments. I won't turn
Cranberry's us down, but to eachof their own, especially when it comes
(05:02):
to taste. Bud's there and itdoes sound like a pretty good spread for
you there. So Tanner, thanksso much for stopping by this week.
Best of luck this weekend and bestluck the rest of the way. Thank
you so much, And just aquick little programming note to share. Of
course, you can catch tomorrow night'sgame and Sunday afternoons game on our sister
station Mix ninety seven three, butyou won't be able to catch the Thanksgiving
Eve game on there. It hasto move over to Fox Sports Wheeling because
(05:24):
of a Christmas special. Then Mixninety seven three will be airing that night,
So Wednesday Night's game, if youcan't make it out to West Banco
Arena, you'll be able to catchit over on Fox Sports Wheeling on fourteen
hundred AM and one A three pointnine FM. But if you would like
to go to the Thanksgiving Eve game, I'll have your chance to win tickets
to that tomorrow afternoon at around fourforty, so make sure you're listening for
(05:45):
your chance to win,
