(00:00):
Corey kluegear with you as you makethe great escape from work on this Wednesday
afternoon. Thank you so much fortuning in and just in time for another
wheeling Nailer's Wednesday where I have aplayer stop by the studio here, and
safe to say, this guy hadhimself quite the weekend, capped off by
a hat trick on Sunday against Writing, Jordan and Prasca Forward joining me here
in the studio. So Jordan, thanks for stopping by it. First of
all, thank you for having me, and second of all, the hat
(00:23):
trick that you scored on Sunday. Now and now, first of all,
have you ever done that before inyour playing career. I've had hat tricks
before, but not like that, where's three different types of goals. But
honestly, it was just like Iwas in flow of the game and our
team was playing good and things wentwell that day and had to make my
luck and it was a natural hattrick as well. So all three of
(00:44):
those goals came back to back, correct, Yeah, they did. I
think just every shift I was tryingto play with purpose and make use of
it, and I knew Writing waspretty tired and we wanted to get out
early leads, so I was tryingto have that attack mentality and go after
And then you also had a separatekind of hat trick on Sunday because it's
what they call the Gordy how hattrick because you got a goal, you
(01:07):
also had an assist in the game, and right as the clock struck Zeros
in the third period, you're gettinginto a scrap with one of Runnings players
there. So just take me throughthe whole thing when it comes to fighting
in hockey, because I know youguys don't really practice it all that much
because you don't want to beat uptoo much on your teammates. But how
much do you prepare for situations likethat, what all goes into it.
(01:29):
You don't really prepare much. Youjust stand up for your teammates. You
got to stand up for yourself. So that was a situation. I wasn't
going to go out and try andpick a fighter with anyone or I'm not
like that, so it kind ofjust came to me and I just try
to stick up for myself and thegame was done. But that's what happens
when you have games like that wheresometimes like the team is just frustrated or
(01:53):
they try and do something to getyou off your game, But there's not
much preparation going into it. Ijust was in the moment. I didn't
want to like give them free shots. So you have to stick up for
yourself absolutely, And those goals thatcame that you were able to score on
Sunday, those were your first goalsof the season you were trying to get.
You were so close at the beginningof the season. Finally able to
(02:14):
break through. What did that feellike for you? It's good to just
break through like that, because thenyou just feel more open, you feel
more free, the sticks a littlebit easier to grip. Chances are just
coming your way, and it's goodto get them out of the way.
But now it's time to move onto next day, next practice, next
game, and just be present forthat. And when I'm present, I
(02:35):
find that things just happened to gomy way more and Jordan Frasca for the
Wheeling Nailors joined me here on aWheeling Nailor Wednesday. So only a couple
of weeks into the season, butthe Naylor's sitting in first place in their
division. Seems like everything's going wellfor you. Guys so far. What's
the overall vibe in the locker roomright now? Oh, it's unbelievable.
We got a good feeling. Idon't think most of our team knows that
(02:57):
were in first place, but wejust have this Viking mentality that our coach
instills in us. And we talkedabout conquering and going into battle and being
present and living in that moment. And I think it's a great mentality that
he's installed in us. And wehave this tradition now where like when we
win a game, we conquer someland. So I think guys look more
(03:20):
forward to just instead of seeing uson first place on the board, we
look more forward to taking over land. We got a cool, pretty cool
design in the room, and itfeels nice when you put a pin up
there and see that we're taking oversome teams. Definitely interesting way of looking
at things. Of course, thispast weekend was your first experience with Opening
weekend here in Wheeling because you joinedthe Naylors last season but a couple of
(03:40):
weeks after opening nights, So sotake us through your thoughts on the experience
of experiencing Opening Weekend and Wheeling.Yeah, last year I was hurt,
so I missed a home opener andit was great. I was excited to
see all the fans come out. It's glad we were able to put on
a show for them, not leavethem board, and we made a little
(04:00):
bit closer than it needed to be, but I think it was more exciting
for the fans, and I'm gratefulthat they come out and they're here to
support us, and it was amazingto see them. So it doesn't really
need It doesn't get much easier foryou guys here because you got Idaho coming
in for a full weekends late andthey're off at the same blistering pace that
they were in last season, settingthe single season records for wins, points
(04:24):
and a few other things. Soit definitely seems like a good measuring stick
kind of series for you guys interms of where you want to be and
what you want to accomplish. Yeah. Yeah, they're a great team,
and I think if we just focuson ourselves, like we'll be pretty good.
We got the advantage of being athome, they have to do the
travel here, and if we justgo uh moment by moment and play to
(04:46):
our strengths and focus on little detailsthat we do well and what we could
change moving forward in each game.I think we'll be pretty good and we
just live in that moment and havethat Viking mentality. And the other interesting
wrinkle with this weekend, I'll getyou out of here on this question,
Jordan, is that this is thefirst time this season where you have three
games in as many nights. It'stypically common here in the EHLS. So
(05:11):
tell us what all goes into, like the preparation to getting getting ready for
a weekend like this to make sureyou're not totally gassed by Sunday. Ah,
you're just being sure you're doing theright things off the ice, whether
it's getting a little bit extra stretching, eating a little bit more hydrating,
just doing the right things for yourbody, ice pass anything, anything that
(05:31):
helps you feel better. I thinka big thing is sleep, getting a
little bit more sleep, and honestlyfrom meeting myself, I know by the
third game, I just feel better, like my legs are warmed up from
the first two games, and youjust go out there and you feel free
and you play. So it's alwaysfun playing those games. So a lot
of work on the way here forthe wheeling Naglers, this weekend, but
(05:53):
it's sure to be a great oneagainst the Idaho steel Heads down the West
Banko Arena again. The games areFriday night and Saturday night at seven ten,
Sunday afternoon at four ten. Ifyou're not able to make any of
those games, you can catch theaction over on our sister station, Mixed
ninety seven three. But make sureyou come on out to these games here
support the Naylors because they are ontosome great things here at the beginning of
this brand new season, and sois Jordan Frasca, my guest here this
(06:15):
week for Wheeling Naylor Wednesday. SoJordan, thank you so much for your
time man, and best luck therest of the way. Thank you,
thank you for having me on.And a quick note here before I throw
it to break, I will haveanother player stop by the studio next week.
It's just going to be happening onThursday of next week because Wednesday of
next week the Naylors will actually beplaying a school day game in Toledo against
the Walleye and puck drop is atten thirty five in the morning that day.
(06:38):
Because a lot of the schools aroundthe Toledo area are going to come
out and check out the good oldhockey games. So Wheeling Naylor Wednesday will
happen next week. It's just goingto be happening on Thursday of next week.
But either way, if you're ableto come out to any one of
the games this weekend against Idaho, make sure you do so. But if
you won't be able to make itagain, you can always catch the action
over on our sister station, Mixninety seven three
