of the film.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
On top of that, on top of that, on top
of that, on top of that, on top of that,
on top of that, and then he showed me his bill.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I've popped another pill.

Speaker 3 (00:36):

You are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Welcome to this week's show, When Your Health Matters, the
show designed to empower you to better health through knowledge
and education. And I'm your host, doctor Richard Untun from
Advanced Alternative Medicine Center. And here's my partner for the show,
your health advocate, Mark Saban.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
So, Doc Rick, you know, I think that there must
be a large percentage of people that may come to
see you looking for health with their health when they
really they might be feeling a bit lethargic, they might
be tired, but they can't really figure out, you know,
what's going on, and they don't necessarily have any diagnosed
health issues. What do you do as a way to

(02:03):
begin to treat somebody that comes into you with those
types of complaints.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Well, I guess the first thing I want the listener
to appreciate is that you must understand that it is
not normal to feel tired in lethargic, and any professional
who ignores this is not somebody that you should be
seeking advice from. You should consider going to a functional
practitioner similar to myself, who can evaluate all your systems,

(02:30):
including your energetic system, and determine why yours is malfunctioning
and what it takes to restore balance and normal function
to your energetic system. So to feel tired in lethargic, yeah,
they're not going to when I say they, the allopathic
medical system isn't going to come up with something specific

(02:54):
other than saying, well, that's normal for somebody your age,
and that's not an answer.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
That's not the answer i'd want to hear. So you
said functional medicine, So what exactly does that mean and
what are you looking at when you deal with functional.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Well, a truly functional healthcare practitioner evaluates function of what's
going on within your system. And just as a disclaimer,
the traditional medical functional doctors that are out there, what
that typically means for them is that they get to
order expensive tests to evaluate function and then the treatment

(03:34):
now that we know that you have the functional problem,
is typically going to be more of the same medication
that you would have gotten had you not had the
very expensive functional test done to understand that this is
what they were going to support you with. Anyway, I'm
talking about a functional practitioner who actually evaluates your physical

(03:55):
bodies functioning, whether it's in balance, whether it's that of,
whether it's normal, whether it's abnormal, and understanding what's working
and what's not working from a functional standpoint. And that's
something that I and many other traditional, true functional practitioners
evaluate when you come into the office.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
So, for instance, if my stomach's not functioning correctly, that
means I'm not maybe digesting my food properly.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah, maybe you're not absorbing calcium, which primarily gets absorbed
in the stomach. Maybe you're not breaking your carbohydrates down properly.
Maybe you're not even breaking your proteins down, which is
going to lead to you know, acid indigestion, heartburn, potentially reflux,
gastroesophageal reflux disease. Those are all conditions where the stomach

(04:48):
isn't functioning properly. And a lot of times doctors may
tell you to take peptobismol, They may give you an
ant acid. They may give you, you know, some kind
of proton hump inhibitor, this, that and the other thing
that they can recommend to you, and that's going to
help go after and manage your symptom, but it's not

(05:08):
going to address, well, what's going on functionally with your stomach.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
So how do you address what goes unfunctionally with somebody's
health as opposed to treating a dysfunction with some kind
of medication.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Well, at the end of the day, what I do
in my office is when we do our functional evaluation,
not only do we find where there's an imbalance in
normal functioning, but then we go to a deeper level
of understanding what are the components or what is the
why that causes the person to have the malfunction to
begin with? Is it, you know, repressed emotion, is it

(05:41):
too many toxins? Is it a nutritional imbalance? Is it
a structural imbalance? Is it a physiological imbalance? Is it
something that the person's moving through that's a spiritual imbalance?
And trying to understand what's going on with that individual
And realistically it could be also seven of those. It
doesn't necessarily have to be only one. It could be

(06:03):
multiple ones, and having the ability to assess the level
of functional communication between the brain and the part of
the body that is malfunctioning becomes vital if you want
to understand why the part of the body isn't working
the way that it's supposed to and what you need
to do in order to address it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Well, I'm glad you brought up at the first part
of that, the toxins, because I wanted to talk to
you about the toxicity in our environment and it seems like,
I mean, I don't think there's any way that any
of us can avoid being assaulted by a whole variety
of toxins that we're facing on a daily basis.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
And I would agree with that, to say the least.
We live in a sea of toxins and not much
as being done about it. Just another example of profits
over people, and it, unfortunately is getting worse. Although I
did see something online the other day. I mean, every
day I go look at the sky and I can
see the chemtrails going across the sky. It doesn't matter

(07:02):
whether I'm in Georgia, whether I'm in New York or
driving somewhere in between. The other day, I went out
and looked up at the sky and the sky was
one hundred percent perfectly blue, and I love when the
sky is one hundred percent perfectly blue. But then I
saw a post on the Internet saying that the chemtrails

(07:23):
or the government clandestine government faction that is responsible for
chemtrails is evidently being addressed the way that it's supposed
to be addressed, so that that hopefully is not going
to happen anymore.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Wow. So, I mean, what can you do for yourself?
I mean about the number of tonsons that you're facing,
is there? I mean you're surrounded by them?

Speaker 2 (07:47):
So well, yeah, we're exposed over eighty six thousand different
chemicals on a weekly basis, and less than twenty thousand
of those chemicals are regulated, and even with the regulations,
there's still a problem over time. And so so what
can somebody do. They can become informed, They can get
educated and find what toxins are in your direct environment

(08:08):
and figure out a way either to eliminate them or
to lower the amount that you're being exposed to, and
have methodologies within how you do your life that helps
to counterbalance or eliminate or remedy whatever it is that
you're being exposed to and that would require you to

(08:28):
go to somebody like myself who has an ability to
answer those questions and help you find solutions to that problem.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Now, yeah, I know that we were talking in our
last show or a couple of shows ago about the
idea of being a detoxifying and getting rid of these
excess toxins, and I remember you saying that this is
kind of the time of year that you really want
to face that. Why is it now that you want
to face getting rid of those toxins out of your body?

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Well, the energy in the body is focused on the
liver this time of year, and since the liver is
the chief detoxification organ I call it the grand central
station because everything needs to pass through it over the
course of time in the body, all blood passes through
the liver for consideration. So by supporting its ability to
release the accumulated toxins from the past year or years

(09:20):
would be important. Otherwise they will continue to accumulate and
health issues will become a problem. The primary one that
develops over time would be arthritis.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Really, so arthritis is the one that's going to get
you sort of jammed up with these toxics.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Well, yeah, when you have too many toxins in your
liver and affecting how the liver functions. That's ultimately what
creates the condition that's called arthritis.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Interesting, So what do you need to do? I know
that one of the things we wanted to talk to
you about today is there's a doctor supervised detoxification program
that you offer to patients. Can you talk a little
bit about what that program is and how it works? Well?

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yeah, absolutely, I have had a program in my office
for coming up on thirty years and I do a
service to the listenership who may not be aware of
the program, the importance of doing the program and how
it will help you to become healthier going forward, especially
if you have any sort of chronic disease problems. There's

(10:20):
a high degree of likelihood that you need to detoxify
your system so that your body can get rid of
the toxins in the system in a normal fashion the
way that it was designed to do.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
So, how do you know if you've got a problem
with toxins? Would that be any problem that you have
could be related to that.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Well, at the end of the day, if you have
a health imbalance, I can tell you that the organs
and glands within your system aren't functioning up to their
one hundred percent ability. And so if you have any
level of health issue, cleaning out the toxins that potentially
are contributing to the condition that you've been been given

(11:00):
or diagnosed with would become important. And giving you the
education that you need so that you can get back
into the driver's seat of your own health that would
be also equally and vitally important.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
So I mean, if you have something that you don't
have one hundred percent good health in an area, would
it be fair to assume that there is a toxic
issue going on in that area?

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Oh? Most likely. I mean, again, we live in a
sea of toxins. We're exposed to over eighty six thousand
of them on a weekly basis, and again, less than
twenty thousand of them are regulated. So every person on
this planet has a toxicity issue, and if you're not
doing something to address it in a semi regular fashion,

(11:49):
with some kind of program that's going to work with
the body's natural abilities to enhance the elimination of those
toxins so that the body can spreet them in a healthy,
normal fashion without creating further problems down the road that
would be important, and that's hopefully that's the reason why
we're having this conversation today, to inform the listener of

(12:12):
what they need to be aware of and what they
can do to help themselves.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Well, why wouldn't your naturally why would you have the
natural ability to get rid of the toxins? I mean
that would seem like, if you're just a normal, healthy person,
that should be something that would just be part of
your everyday normal health.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
I appreciate that thought, and in a perfect world that
would be ideal. But since we live in a world
that's been bastardized at least for the last seventy five years,
and the refining of our food and the chemical additives
that are added to our food, the preservatives, etc. All
those things that we're exposed to due to the ignorance
in the governmental organizations that regulate those things, specifically the

(12:55):
Food and Drug Administration. There's more emphasis on the drug
aspect of how health than there is on the food
aspect of health and what they've done to our food
and the genetically modifying of that food, and you know,
all the things that they add to the food and
an effort to make it look fresh and give it
a long shelf life, et cetera. Those are things that

(13:17):
you're not going to have an ability as an average
human being on this planet to get away from. You're
going to be exposed to these things, and they are
going to have accumulative effects that overwhelms the liver. And
when the liver gets overwhelmed, you're going to develop vision
problems related to your ability to focus. You're going to
develop muscle joint and tendon issues related to how you

(13:41):
move about, and your comfort level versus discomfort level, and
all of that's going to happen just by the fact
that we don't live the puritan type natural life that
we would like to believe that we do. Again, with
all the camicals that we're exposed to, you're eventually going

(14:02):
to develop a toxicity, and if you want to help yourself,
you're going to need to clean those toxins out.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
And what you said is it's a cumulative thing, so
that even if you're eliminating them at some point or partially,
over time, that builds up in your system and eventually
you run out of the ability to eliminate.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
That's one hundred percent correct.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
M So are some of these toxins you mentioned medicines.
That's one of the types of ways that you can
get chemicals into your body that may not agree with you.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Well, yeah, if you're taking a prescription pharmaceutical grade medication
that is known to come with side effects, and you're
taking that in and maybe you're not experiencing the side
effects that are the higher ones. Just the simple fact
that your liver is going to have to go through
a process in an effort to detoxify the effects of

(14:54):
that medication and then give it your body permission to
release those toxins. If you're not staying on top of that,
then you're growing health problems without even knowing that you're
growing them.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Well, it seems like there are several areas that generally
are where you're picking up these toxins, like medicine. You mentioned,
food that's being either not treated correctly or not cared
for correctly, or pesticized, things like that. But then there's
also all the workings of industry that are also adding

(15:28):
to those things. The whole idea of you know, you
were talking about chem tariales. Well, we've been flying jet
planes now for the last fifty or sixty years. So
all that's adding to this mix of the chemicals that
we're being exposed.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
To, right, and so it's important for us to be
mindful of that and then to take the necessary steps
to be proactive so that even though you're being exposed
to it, it's not creating a negative toxic effect over
time because you're doing something to prevent that from happening.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Well, can that toxic effect eventually start to make genetic
alterations to a person?

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Well, there is that sense out there when we talk
about epigenetics, then we talk about the environmental effects that
ultimately impact how our genes express or don't express themselves.
And so yeah, there's definitely a relationship there that the
average person doesn't think of, and most of traditional allopathic

(16:28):
medicine also doesn't consider. And that's unfortunate. And what's more
unfortunate is the fact that they'll turn a blind eye
to it if it's going to impact their ability to
make profit. And so once again we have another example
of profits over people, and the people who are raking
in the money don't really care about the consumer that's

(16:50):
contributing to their windfall in money.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
But you said, GMOs, Now if you're just modifying a food,
Why would that now become something that would create toxicity
issues in you? Isn't it still food?

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Well, I don't know that you can call it food anymore,
although people maybe be putting it in the category of food.
But when you genetically modify something that nature has created
and it now has characteristics and behaves in ways that's different,
like being pesticide resistant or being bug resistant because they've

(17:30):
genetically modified it in such a way that insects and
other predators of the fruits and vegetables are no longer
impacting or affecting them. Yeah, So when you're genetically modifying
things and you alter the natural abilities of those plants, etc.

(17:53):
To manufacture food in a healthy way, we as the
consumer of that food, are going to be impact negatively.
And so when there's no government agency that enforces the
fact that they need to put on the label that
this is made from genetically modified ingredients, and for those

(18:14):
who are trying to be at least attempting to be transparent,
unless you read the fine print of some of the
labels out there that are not on the front of
the package but are on the back of the package,
it may acknowledge it there, but it's not highlighting it
in a way that would interfere with your ability to
be emotionally attached to buying that particular food.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Well, this is a really important conversation, Doc Rick. We
do need to take a short commercial break. Do you
hear my general sponsor, the Alternative Healthcare Network dot com.
When we get back, I have a number of other
questions on this detox program.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Absolutely, but please listen as commercial from our general sponsor.
You're listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network dot com.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Say, listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
If you're currently suffering from any health concern and you're
not getting the results you're looking for, please feel free
to call me directly at area code eight four to
five five six one two two two five again eight
four five five six one two two two five, or
you can email me directly at docric at spineboy dot com.
That's Doc Riick at spine boy dot com, and I

(19:25):
look forward to serving your healthcare needs.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Naturally, you are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
So in that first conversation, we talked a lot about
some of the issues that come up, but one of
the ones that I would really wonder about because weight
is such a big issue for so many people. What
is the relationship with being having too many toxins in
your body in obesity?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
It's a good question. So when you ingest a toxin
that the body can't excrete in a normal fashion because
it's been modified in such a way that the body's
natural abitities to recognize things. The body recognizes natural components,
natural foods, you know, things that come into the body

(20:10):
in a natural way that are direct from nature. Bodies
equipped to be able to deal with that. When you modify,
when you bastardize, when you chemicalize, when you create poisons,
if you will, that are detrimental to how the body functions,

(20:30):
the body doesn't necessarily respond to it in a normal way,
and as a result, those things aren't processed and eliminated
out of the body efficiently. And when you're doing a
lot of it, over time, it's going to be overwhelming
to the system to where things start to back up
within the system. And that's ultimately what leads to too

(20:51):
many toxins and the toxicity that we're talking about today.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Well, I mean, I mean, if the toxins are bad,
I mean if you eat some content dominated foods, for instance,
pretty much you're going to immediately throw that food up.
I mean, it's going to go right out of your
system as quickly as possible.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Hopefully if your gallbladder is functioning properly. But if your
gallbladder is not functioning properly, then it's not gonna throw
it out through your mouth. It's going to liquify it
and run it out the other end. And the time
it takes to run it out the other end, and
the potential for absorption reabsorption back into the body is

(21:28):
there in uh, and it's gonna If the body's in
a purge mode, then whatever you're eating in an effort
to try to sustain your body and maintain it with
proper nutrition is going to be eliminated as well. And
so it's it's not a good thing to put these
kind of toxins into the body if it's going to
impact how the body deals with those That then crosses

(21:51):
over to impacting how your body deals with normal food.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
But why can't your body get rid of the toxins
the same way it would the food that it doesn't agree.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
With, well, simply because it stimulates a response within the
body that isn't the same as you would get from
eating and ingesting normal food. It has to have a
it's got to go through that two different phases, Phase
one in phase two of the liver's ability to detoxify

(22:22):
whatever toxins are coming in to create a new product
that isn't toxic that now the body can deal with
in a normal fashion.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
So, because one of the things that I think we've
talked about before is when you're certain things, when you
can't digest foods are completely utilize them, then they get
stored and they get wrapped to protect the body in fat.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Right, And that's the thing. So when these toxins stay
around too long and your body can't process them and
your body doesn't know how to eliminate them, then the
body's going to end up storing them. In an effort
to protect the rest of the body from those toxic
poisons that are accumulating within the body, the body will

(23:05):
insulate them in a layer of fat and put that
fat into the fat stores within the person that allows
it to be far enough away from the vital organs
and glands and systems, et cetera to not muck up
the works.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yeah, and I know that one of the things that
we've talked about this before that people miss misunderstand is
that you actually need fat in your diet. You need
the right kind of fat to be healthy.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
You do. And that's the misconception that we've been led
to believe, which ultimately is why we have large amounts
of obesity, no pun intended, Because we need fat to
process for energy for the body and as a precursor
for hormones. And when we substitute fat with either fake

(23:58):
fat or instead of having a normal fat diet, we
have an extra low fat diet. Well, what does that mean?
We're not eating fat anymore. So what we typically substitute
that with is something that's going to feel good in
our mouth, good on our tongue. It's going to stimulate,
you know, a balanced self esteem, et cetera. And that

(24:19):
the food material or the ingredients that promote that within
the body is carbohydrates or you're refined carbohydrates or what
I call the completely refined, in processed or the crap carbohydrates. So, yeah,
we're being exposed to lots of those because a we

(24:41):
have an addiction, we have a dysbiosis going on, in
the in the bowel system as a result of some
of the toxins that we've been exposed to, which disrupt
your microbiome and cause you to have an overgrowth of
certain components that then cause you to crave sugar. It's
not a person's fault that they end up having the

(25:03):
addictions that they have and having the negative health outcomes
that they have, for the most part, because they don't
even know how the systems set up to cause them
to lose No.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
I mean, when we get on the on the topic
of being able to detoxify the body, one of the
things that the body does is it uses a filtration
capability to cleanse the blood and the fluids in the
body right so that it can expunge the things that
don't belong right. So you have multiple filters in your body.

(25:39):
So what are those filters.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
We have three external filters, which is what keeps things
from the outside world from getting into the body, and
that's in the Chinese five element theory. Those are your
metal element organs, and those are your lungs, your large intestine,
and the largest organ in your body called the skin.
And so those those are three external barriers that keep

(26:03):
things from getting into the body if it's going to
create a problem for the body. But let's say that
you have leaky gut. Let's say that you lather up
your hands with antibacterial soap. Let's say that you already
have respiratory issues, so the doctors put you on and
inhaler only when you need it kind of thing. Then

(26:24):
what you've done is you've upset the apple cart and
the balance within the lungs, the large intestine in skin.
So now things can actually break through that protective barrier
get into the blood stream, and all that blood ultimately
goes to the liver for consideration. So now we've left
the external filters of the lungs, large intestine in skin,

(26:46):
and now we're inside the body, inside the blood stream.
And now there's three other filters specifically for that. You
got your liver, which filters all toxins, primarily solid based,
food based. Then we have the kidneys, which basically filters
and detoxifies all the liquid based properties within the body,

(27:10):
the blood and the other fluids that go out ultimately
through the urine. Okay, And then we have the recycling
plant of the blood where old blood cells go to die,
and we take them apart and hold on to the
iron and the hemoglobin, and then we recycle that into
new blood cells. So that's your spleen. So the three

(27:32):
externals that we spoke of lungs, large intestine, in skin
keep things from getting into the body. And then once
they're in the body, it has another system of internal
cleansing with the liver, the kidneys, and the scleen.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
So with that the six different filters that you're talking about,
how do you actually now clean the filters? I mean,
if I have an air filter in my car, I
can exchange it. If I have a filter in my refrigerator,
I can. I can clean it out. I can backwash
a filter. I can't do that with my liver. I
can't take my liver out and flush it. So how

(28:07):
do you do that in this process this doctor supervised
detox program.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Well, you're gonna flush the liver, but you're gonna flush
it while it's still functioning within your body, and you're
gonna feed it various ingredients that are a gonna take
the stress out of the liver to give it a
little bit of a reprieve. Then there's gonna be products
that you take specifically designed to enhance and clean and
restore normal function to the phase one and phase two

(28:36):
detox pathways to allow the health of the liver to
improve greatly.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Mm hmm. Now that's deliver. Now I have the same
same issue with my kidney. It's filtering. You said the
liquid portion. So is this detox program gonna filter clean
out the filter of my kidneys?

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah, because ultimately banking lots of liquids in this particular program,
and those liquids are designed to desoxify not just the liver,
but also help the kidney with its ability to get
rid of it toxins and restore normal function and balance there,
as well as purifying the blood which takes the stress
out of the spleen, which is the recycling plant for

(29:19):
old blood and maintaining the integrity of the new blood.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Now, the spleen is an interesting organ that I think
a lot of people really don't understand. So you're saying
that it's the recycling plant. So what does it do
break down the molecular structure of the blood and then
reconstitute it.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Well, what it does is it it's like a recycling plant.
So it's going to it's going to pull the blood apart.
You have the cellular portion, but then you have the
hemoglobin portion, which is the iron based aspect of the
blood that helps to carry the oxygen around. And so
what it's going to do is it's going to break

(29:59):
the blood cell of heart into its various components, the proteins,
et cetera. And it's going to if if there is
salvageable aspects like the hemoglobin to that particular blood cell
and whatever else is still salvageable, it's it's going to
conserve those ingredients and send them to the processing plan

(30:23):
in which to order and build more blood. And the
part that is no longer salvageable, that has served its purpose,
it's going to dump back into the bloodstream to go
to the liver and ultimately get emptied into the intestines.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Okay, So, but I always thought that the blood was
made in the marrow of the bones. So what's the
relationship between the bone marrow and the spleen.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Well, the bone marrow is where blood cells are actually formed. Uh,
the spleen is a recycling plant for the other side
of the equation. You know. It's it's it's you have
the hospital that helps to deliver babies into the world. Okay,
that would be your bone marrow. And then you have

(31:08):
the funeral home which helps takes the bodies that are
no longer living and helps to recycle those whether it's
through cremation or whether it's through you know, bearing them
in the ground, or whatever the case happens to be.
So it's they're they're at two different ends of the equation.
So the spleen is is is like the funeral parlor,

(31:30):
if you will, for old blood cells versus the bone
marrow is the the nursery where the new babies are
coming in that are going to become fully functional cells.
So that's kind of how that works.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
So and then and then you then we have the
three external filters, So we have the lungs. How do
the lungs work as a.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Filtration Well, when you breathe things in through your knows
and in through your mouth and they go down into
the lungs, hopefully the majority of what it is that
you're ingesting in that way is going to be air
that's saturated with oxygen. So when the air comes in
and the oxygen goes all the way down into the

(32:18):
smallest portion of the lung known as an alveoli, which
is essentially one cell thick. Then it allows the oxygen
to diffuse across that one cell gets attached to the blood.
And what the taxicab blood is doing at that point
is it brought from the tissues of the body. It
brought the carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body,

(32:41):
which is now a waste product. It's a taxicab shettle,
which is the blood cell brings it to the lungs
and so the taxi that is the blood, picks up
a new molecule of oxygen while dropping off an old
molecule of carbon dioxide. So it's kind of like if
you've ever been to gran Central Station or even Madison

(33:01):
Square Garden or some of those places where taxi or
you go to the airport Okay, and you've got taxi
cabs coming in to drop off passengers and then they
go around to pick up passengers, and it's just it's
very similar to how the blood system works. M M.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Now, I mean, the the the idea of the of
the external filters is to keep things from crossing it
into the body, right, but they do get across the body.
I mean, that's that's why you need to do this detox.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Claims, Well, yeah, if you're out there breathing in toxic
air or polluted air or what have you, then you're
going to damage the lungs themselves and the body's going
to have difficulty dealing with the effects of that pollution.
So doing a doctor supervised detox program where you have
an emphasis on all six filters, you're going to be

(33:51):
doing some things to help enhance the detoxification and the
normal functioning of your lungs, of your liver, of your spleen,
of your kidneys, of your large intestine, and ultimately also
of your skin.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
That's interesting because you're doing both sides of that. You're
both cleansing it out and getting rid of the things
that don't belong correct, but you're also helping restore the functionality.
Back to our opening of our conversation today about functional medicine.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Right, And so what we're doing is we're taking the
time to I don't know powerwa wash the insides of
these organs, to get all the creepy crud that is
accumulated on the walls of the organs, and we're washing
it all away and giving it a fresh coat of paint.
If you will in an effort to make it look
new in pristine, so that it's functioning in its highest

(34:43):
level possible.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
It seems like more than even a new code of paint.
I mean, it sounds like it makes it very understandable
why you would need to do this process to be
able to prepare to get the filters to clean, because,
like we were talking about, you're not taking them out
to clean them in your body, they're functioning every day
that you're doing this process. So you're preparing your body

(35:05):
to be able to do the purge of the things
that it doesn't need.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Right. So, to break the program down for the listener,
it's a twenty three day program, and the first nine
days of the program, you're removing all the toxic foods.
You're taking baths, you're doing facial steams, you're drinking you know,
detoxification shakes, you're eating high quality food. You follow the

(35:33):
menu the way that it's laid out the program, the
way that it's laid out within the manual, and what
ends up happening is is now you've prepared all those
six different organs to get rid of any toxins that
are affecting how they function and then we have the
middle five days, so day ten through day fourteen. What

(35:56):
you're doing is you're actually doing a purge of the system,
and that's different from the first nine days. But you're
still eating food, you're still drinking plenty of these detoxification formulas,
and you're helping to clean out the lungs, the large intestine,

(36:18):
and the liver primarily, but you're also cleaning out the kidneys,
the spleen, and the skin based upon what's being done
with the hot baths, with the facial steams, with the
light exercise, with the ingredients that are involved in the
program designed specifically to help with phase one phase two

(36:39):
of the liber detoxification, but also to nourish the kidneys
and the spleen and the metal metal element organs of
the lungs, large intestine, in skin.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
And so before we get to the because I want
to get to that conclusion, but we do need to
take another short commercial break before we get to the
grand finale of this fast, this not fast, but this
doctor supervised detox program. But before we do, we need
to listen to a commercial from our generous sponsor, the

(37:12):
Alternative Healthcare Network dot com.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
Very good you are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
If you're currently suffering from any health concern and you're
not getting the results you're looking for, please feel free
to call me directly at area code eight four five
five six one two two two five again eight four
five five six one two two two five, or you
can email me directly at docric at spine boy dot com.
That's Doc Riick at spine boy dot com, and I

(37:43):
look forward to serving your healthcare needs.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Naturally, you are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
So just before the break, you had taken us through
the first part, the first couple of phases of this
doctor supervised detox location program, where you're eating food for
the first nine days and preparing your body so that
it can actually do this this purge process. Then you
enter into the purging phase. Can you start from when
you begin that purging phase and take us through the

(38:12):
rest of that program.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Well, the purging phase is you know, the the detoxification
shake that you've been drinking for the first nine days.
You're doing that twice a day in the first nine days.
When you get to the middle five days, you're going
to be doing that shape four times a day. Also,
in addition to that, you're going to be taking some

(38:34):
other liquid nutrients designed specifically to purge the liver of
its all of its toxins, and it's it's going to
dump all of the liver toxins through the gallbladder into
the intestinal system to be passed out of the body
and into the toilet. And so the middle five days

(38:55):
you're going to be doing many of those drinks as well,
eating leafy green vegetables for the fiber to help with
the sweeping aspect of cleaning all the stuff out. For breakfast,
you're going to have some sliced pineapple, which again is
high in fiber, to help sweep all the garbage out.

(39:16):
And at the end of the five days. Also at
the end of each particular day, you're going to be
drinking a very specific drink that is going to flush
the liver and the gallbladder system. It involves some lemon juice,
it involves some extra virgin olive oil, and that's the
last thing that you drink before you go to bed,

(39:36):
because that's going to stimulate the liver to purge whatever
is going on within the liver. And you're going to
do that for five days, and at the end of
the five days, now that you've cleaned your system out fully,
now you want to reintroduce food to see what kind
of response your body has with that food. You want
to make sure that the food that you're putting back

(39:58):
in your body is going to be healthy for the
body is not going to start to reverse the cleanse
that you just created by starting to accumulate toxins, etc.
And so we recommend at the end of the nine
days that you switch over from the supplement shake that
you were using to flush the body over to a

(40:19):
supplement shake that's going to help to sustain the results
of what you just accomplished. But after the purge the
middle five days, then you have nine days to reintroduce
normal food, get the system back in balance and running
up the way that it's supposed to, and then putting
out any fires that may start to accumulate or related

(40:42):
to your system running in a very clean, highly efficient way.
But the rest of the body is going to have
to catch up to that.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
Well. It's interesting because you know, I wondered if the
effects are long lasting because they know that you know,
there are people that do this for weight loss, and
they go on a diet, and they get off the diet,
and then they just balloon back up to where they
were before. Is this something that has a lasting effects
or is it just really gonna sustain you over those
twenty three days.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Well, it's definitely going to sustain you over the twenty
three days, and it may even help you. It's not
designed to help you lose weight, but losing weight maybe
a happy side effect associated with doing the program. I
can tell you the first time I did my program,
that was a number of years ago. I think I
was in my late twenties, And so what happened with that.

(41:34):
The very first time I did my program, I lost
nineteen pounds. Wow, looking at me, do I look like that? Right?
And so I'm a very thin, relatively lean in my
turning sixty years of age life. But yeah, I lost
twenty nineteen pounds in twenty three days the first time

(41:55):
that I did it, and then the second time that
I did it about five years later, I didn't lose
I don't know, maybe four or five pounds at most.
But that's because when I was done with the program,
I didn't just simply go back to putting in the
same foods that I was doing. That led me to
be required to do a detox program. You know, I

(42:18):
modified my diet. I you know, improved the quality and
the quantity of foods that I was eating because of
what the detox program did for me. I wanted to
maintain and sustain my results, so I modified the way
that I was eating. I got rid of a bunch
of the crap foods. Not had a problem since as
far as accumulating toxins within the body. In fact, my

(42:43):
livers became so clean that I no longer needed to
wear glasses.

Speaker 1 (42:47):
Interesting, I mean it, And you didn't have to do
this detox every year. You said that you did it
once and then it was five years later.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Five years later. I was just you know, I wanted
to support the people that were going to be doing it,
so I told them I would do it with them,
and that way we could do it together as a group,
and we could they could ask questions while they're going
through it and be like, well, you don't understand, doctor
in tune, because you're not doing it. No, I do
understand because I am doing it. I'm right there with
you doing it, and uh, you know it. That particular

(43:18):
year of doing the detox. We had a good majority
of my practice all participate in that at the same time,
and it was it was wonderful. Everybody had subtly different experiences,
but everybody that's ever done my program over the last
roughly thirty years have all come to me at the
end and told me the exact same thing. And that

(43:39):
thing is is doctor Rick, this is absolutely, hands down
the best thing I've ever done for myself related to
my health.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Interesting, now, would a healthy person benefit from doing this
doctor supervised detox program?

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Oh? Absolutely, because, as we discussed in the first part
of the show, we live in a sea of toxins.
Those toxins are going to have a negative effect over time,
and so whatever you can do to maintain the integrity
of your system, give it some love and show it
some love and support it to be able to function

(44:15):
the way that it's supposed to do, so that it
doesn't have any issues. Why wouldn't you choose to do that?

Speaker 1 (44:20):
Well, it makes perfect sense. Now again, why do we
do it in the spring? I mean the springtime, everything's
starting to grow, the leaves are coming back on the trees.
It would seem like not necessarily, well, I guess you
do do spring cleaning. That's a normal thing.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Right, absolutely. And so what's interesting is when you look
at the energetic patterns of the body. Using the traditional
Chinese five element theory of health, which is over seven
thousand years of proven history, they divide the body up
into five different elements. Okay, you got in the winter time,
you got your water element, which is primarily your kidneys

(44:58):
and your bladder. Okay, Then in the springtime, where the
energy is now starting to expand and open up, and
leaves are growing and ice is melting, and the bears
are coming out of their hibernation and the birds have returned,
and all the things are becoming a hustle bustle. Within springtime,
that's primarily the liver and the gallbladder. So winter we

(45:20):
have the water element of the kidney bladder. Then we
have the wood element of the liver gallbladder. Then we
move from the wood to the fire element, which primarily
is is your stomach, I'm sorry, is your large intestine,
and your sorry one more time, your small intestine and
your heart. So your fire element primarily is your heart

(45:44):
and your small intestine. But then associated with that are
your endocrine organs of your ovaries, your testicles, your adrenals,
your thyroid, your pituitary, so those are your endocrine organs. Okay.
Then we move out of the fire element into the
earth element in the later part of early fall, if

(46:07):
you will, Indian summer, if you will, And that's the
stomach spleened and pancreas. And then in the fall time
we have the lungs, large intestine in skin, and those
are your external filters. And we have a short nine
day program that we do in the fall, but in
the springtime, when the energy's highest in the liver, when

(46:29):
the leaves are coming out, when change is happening, when
things are expanding and things are growing, that's the best
time to support the liver in order to do this
detox program.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
Now, it sounds like from everything you said over this
first nine days, you're eating all these different foods and
you have these particular formulas that you're taking, So it
sounds like you're going to be satisfied in terms of
hunger and anything of that nature.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
Absolutely, You're eating and drinking pretty much every hour throughout
today in an effort to provoke the body into doing
what it's going to need to do during the middle
five day purge, and then you're resupporting the body over
the final nine days in an effort to allow it
to come back to balance and normal, and then at

(47:15):
that point you get to make a life decision. You
can go back to eating and drinking the things that
you did that created the need to do a detox
to begin with, or based upon what you learned during
the detox program and the kinds of foods that you
eat that are on the menu of what it is
that you're going to be doing at different points in
the program, you may just want to continue eating that way.

Speaker 1 (47:38):
Well, that's a good point, because I would think that
if I'm somebody that goes out and eats burgers and
you know, pizzas and things like that, that I'm eating
the kind of food that I would wager is not
on this doctor supervised detox.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
Program, that would be correct. There is no pizza involved
in the program. There is no eating.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
That I'm going to go over this twenty three days
where I don't get my pizza fix.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
Nope, You're definitely not going to feel deprived because if
you can follow the directions of the program, and anybody can,
it tells you exactly what to do, and it tells
you exactly when to do it, and as long as
you can follow instructions and as long as you stay
a couple of days ahead by reading ahead, so that
you know what ingredients you need, so that on a

(48:26):
particular day where it requires you to eat papaya for breakfast.
I don't know about you, but I don't typically go
to the grocery store and buy papaya. My wife does
periodically when they're in season. You know, if you don't
normally eat papaya and you don't go to the store
and buy it ahead of time, then the morning that
it requires you to have a healthy serving of papaya,

(48:48):
you may not be ready for it. So you want
to read a couple of three days ahead so that
you can go to the store and get the ingredients
that you need for those particular days that are coming
in the not too days in future.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Well, that's so interesting that you're talking about. I mean,
that's papaya is a food, it grows, it's a natural food.
It's not like oh, some medicine I have to get
out of the shelf of the health food store or
something like that.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
No, we got mangos, we got papayas, We've got lots
of spinach, We've got other leafy greens, you know, and
it's you're eating real food the whole time, and you're gonna,
you know, if you're hungry. There's nothing that says that
you can't eat more. But what I found in the
several times that I've done this program over the last

(49:34):
thirty thirty five years is I've never been hungry during
the program, and I've never had a patient tell me
that I felt like I needed more sustenance. Because there
are instructions in is if you feel like you need
more sustenance, then you can have more leafy green vegetables.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
Well, I guess the thing about if you have foods
that you're kind of hooked on, it's that feeling of
that craving. What do you do about well those kind
of feelings while you're on this twenty three day program.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
My experience is, and the feedback that I've gotten from
the hundreds of people that have done the program is
that they don't suffer with cravings, withdrawal cravings, because you're
feeding the body. You're giving it the sustenance that it needs,
that it doesn't have time to nitpick over the fact
that I didn't get my sugar fixed today.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
I mean that would seem to me for somebody that
has really gone down, perhaps is not eating in a
healthy way on a normal basis, is going to have
the hardest time with the program like this.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
I've had people that are sort of in line with
what it is that you're talking about, people who just
don't do anything healthy in their life, et cetera, who
have committed to the program, who have done the best
they can with the program, and they get the result
at the end of the program. And everybody that has

(50:58):
ever done the program has always thanked me and praised
me for giving them the opportunity to do this program
because their health dramatically improves.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
Right. And let's say you do the program and you
slip up, like, I'm sure that that must be something.
I know. You make yourself available for people during the
program too, Like I'm having Oh, it's day four and
I'm having a real trouble not going out and you know,
grabbing a muffin or something. What do I do on
that case.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Well, you pick up the phone and you call me
and let's have a conversation. This is called a doctor
supervised detox program, which means that I'm actively involved in
it every step of the way. If you need help,
I'm just a phone call away, and we will take
care of whatever the issue is. And so it's it's

(51:49):
you know, it's it's one hundred percent supervised. But yeah,
you're going to be in your home doing what you
need to do and following the instructions. And you know,
as an adult, I just assume that you have the
ability to follow the instructions. And if you made the
commitment to do the program, there's a certain financial investment.
I wouldn't want you to throw your money away. I

(52:10):
want you to get the full benefit of doing the program.
And so we do an evaluation beforehand to determine if
we need to support this particular individual's body with some
specialized supplements because let's say they have more of a
lung weakness, or they have more of a liver problem,
or they have more of a kidney issue, or maybe

(52:32):
they suffer from skin issues. We want to support that
part of the body to be fed the way that
it needs to in order to allow itself to heal
and detoxify.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
And so well, that's great doc. I mean is we've
got about a minute left in our show now. But
the fact that you're available by phone is something that
I wanted to follow up on because if there are
people out there that are listening to our show today
and want to get their questions asked before they step
into this doctor supervised program, or if they want any
questions around their health, you do make yourself available. So

(53:07):
what are the best ways to reach out to you?

Speaker 2 (53:09):
Best way to reach out to me would be to
call my cell phone directly. It's area code eight four
five five six one two two two five again eight
four five five six one two two two five. That
is my personal cell. I will be the one answering
the phone. If I don't answer the phone, it just
means that I'm with somebody helping them. Please leave me

(53:29):
a message with your phone number and I will be
happy to call you back. Some people like the text
I had a woman text me this morning. The text
itself was I had to scroll through the text five
times to get to the end of the text. I
don't have time to wade through that kind of stuff.

(53:50):
So I'm going to ask people not to text me
if you got something long to say, if you don't
want to call me, then send it in an email.
But you know, call me. You can tell me briefly.
You can email me at docwork atspineboy dot com. Ultimately,
I'm gonna ask you to come into the office so
we can do an evaluation just to make sure that
your body is safe and ready to go in any

(54:11):
ancillary ways that we need to support it in order
to get the most amount out of it. But I'm
here to help. I want to help you. I want
to help turn the page and get you to turn
over a new leaf, so to speak. So it would
be my pleasure to help you to that end. I
guess we're out of time. I'd ask you to tune
back in next week, same health time, same health station.

(54:34):
This is doctor Richard Untune from Advanced Alternative Medicine Center
saying I look forward to supporting you when you're helping
my physician.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
He said, you're definitely ill. Sent to the nurse.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
I seem worse, but the doctor just gave me a pill.

Speaker 1 (54:49):
