Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Monday, Fred, We're back at it. I'm really good.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You are always good on a Monday. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Yeah, good reason too this time because on Friday we
got these close to getting our all time highs once again.
The stock market, all three indices actually saw rises.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Give us some numbers and what's going on out there.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yeah, they're nearing the all time highs again.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
And this I mean we're in December now, we're having a.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Good year in the stock market. The Dow was up
one hundred and four one hundred and four points, which
is point two two percent. S and P five hundred
up thirteen point two eight percent, nine percent, thirteen point
two eight points, which is point one to nine out
of a percent, and the Nazak up seventy three points,
which is point three one of a percent, and we
had we're in green for the five day and like

(00:48):
I said, year to date that was up twelve point
seven to two.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
S and P five hundred and up sixteen point.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Eight one percent, and the Nazaka up twenty two point
one zero percent. That's year to date. And we're all looking, yeah,
we're all waiting this week that's going to come out.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, tell us where we're going to get a rate cut.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Or not, but they're expecting it.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
So yeah, andleersts are very high on seeing another one
and if that happens, so that'll happen like around Wednesday,
I believe. So if that happens, what can we expect
or are they already baking that that hope into the numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I think they're baking that number in there. So if
he doesn't, yeah, the stack market could have a rough day.
Could But again it's already be getting baked in. Now
we're all looking towards twenty twenty six, what are we
going to do?

Speaker 4 (01:38):
One of Michigan University.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Of Michigan reports came out and they're forecasting four point
one for inflation next year instead of four point five.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
So that's a little good news, but again this is
just a forecast that's not where we're currently sitting at.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
And then we had a rate come out. The favorite
PCE index, which is the favorite reading of the fad,
so we have the PCEE year over year came in
just to hear well, it was at two point seven.
They were expecting it to jump to two point nine percent.
It came in at two point eight. But if we

(02:12):
look at the core year over year, exactly what they
thought at two point eight, it came in at.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Two point eight, so inflation's not skyrocketing like like they're
forecasting what they're saying right now. But again, we check
it every month.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
So we need to figure out who they are because
because they seem to be wrong a lot of the
time when they make predictions, we need to get some
names of who they are and stay away from them.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Like my parents told me to when I was young.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
They like, they like to whip us up into a
frenzy and get us all going, yes, so yeah, I'm
with you hundred percent of bred they are pretty uh yeah,
take them and leave them.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Yeah, there were some. There were some big There were
some big winners. Ultimately one over twelve percent jump for
for a cosmetic company that was just that surprised the
crap out of me.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Well, it's right behind Victoria's Secret Secret Bread. I guess
Victoria's seat is leading the way at eighteen percent up.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Dang.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
So yeah, there's some uh, I guess, uh cosmetics and
lingerie getting sold out there. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I wonder if that's I wonder if that's a Christmas
gift giving.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
That's that's making, that's making that thing.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Netflix fell a little bit, Warner Brothers went up because
of this big deal that might happen.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yes, it rose six point three after Netflix said it
would buy Warner Brothers.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
For seventy two billion. But they're gonna have a hard
time getting.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
This threw because that means they're they're grabbing a lot
of the market. It's listening to a report this morning.
You can't own that much of it. And we don't
have any competition, and everyone has to go to Netflix
or Warner Brothers and worried about.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Two about people not promoting going to the theater, you know,
just watch it at home. So keep your eye on
that one. I don't I'm not sure that one's going
to go through, but that was big news.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Well I'm gonna make I'm gonna make a prediction because
both the heads of Warner Brothers, Discovery w B d
UH and Netflix have had private meetings with your favorite President,
President Donald J.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Trump UH and phone calls UH with your favorite President,
President Donald J.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Trump, which the White House will neither confirm nor do not.
We don't talk about private phone calls. My guess is
the President will say this is a good thing and
should go through and give his give the people in
charge that we were supposed to take a look at this,
a little pushing the butt and say yeah, this should happen.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
So just my prediction. I guess we'll find out.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
I'm not sure about that one, Fred, but we're gonna lit.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
So were we before we get out of here? Where
are we looking at in the bond market? And how
do things look for the futures this morning?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Well, the futures are mainly up this morning, pushing a
little bit, and you know, it could go either way.
It's not hugely hugely up to this morning. The bond
market we're currently sitting Yeah, there's my paper. The ten
years creeped up a little bit to four point one
point five. The two year is sitting at three point
five to seven. Overseas market, we have the France down

(05:31):
eleven twelve, there are twelve points. Germany's up fifty two points,
the futs he is up four point seven, Hong Kong
down three point one point nine, which is one point
two to three percent, and Japan index the k is
up ninety all right point not bad.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Hopefully a good day today as we get a new
week started, and uh, we'll let him take a look
at those things and we'll talk to him tomorrow morning.

Speaker 2 (05:59):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
