Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are you, mister wheat Trow. I'm fantastic. Press Thursday,
it's Thursday, US already.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Docs hit another record yesterday. Prices keep rising. It looks
like we've got a peace plan in the middy. What
could possibly go wrong?
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Exactly? We have gold going up and a lot of
tech going up. What could go wrong?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
All right, give us the details before it all goes
to hell in a hand basket?
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
The Dow finished flat for the day. It was minus
one point two points, which is it's nothing. It's flat, okay.
For the five days though, it's up point three five percent.
S P five hundred, up thirty nine points, which is
a little over a half percent. For the five days,
it's up point sixty three of a percent, and the
Nasdaq was up two hundred and fifty five points fred
(00:51):
which is one point one two percent. The five day
brings it up to one point two seven percent. So
we're getting a lot of push. But let's look at
what's happening underneath. We're not getting any reports from the
government because they're closed. What is it nine days now?
We have the unemployment rate sitting at four point three percent.
(01:12):
Last month it was at four to two. Now what's good.
The national long term average for unemployment is five point
sixty seven, which is high.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
They like it between three three to five.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
We're sitting at four point three. But it's been creeping
up and this is getting to be a concern. Now.
We have the FED coming the end of this month.
They meet on the twenty eighth and twenty ninth of
this month. When they left that then they pushed out
their minutes from last meeting. They're about half and half
and whether to cut or not to cut. So we're
(01:46):
going to take a look.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
But we had mentioned gold went over four thousand bucks a.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Year to date, it's up fifty five percent, Silver up
sixty percent. No one's really talking about it, but it's
creeping right behind. It's surely not close to four thousand
dollars an ounce, but it's still in itself, has been
creeping up. Other good news, we talked yesterday about the
gas gas coming down. I was sitting in two thousand
and eighty eight cents, so that's some good stuff. But
(02:11):
what again, I don't want to give all.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Bad news because there's a lot of good things going on.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
But you got to look at the economy and you
and I talked about. Stock market is not the economy.
So what's going to really help. Well, that's why I
give you unemployment. We need that to come down a
little bit or not start stop creeping up. But mortgage
rates national average right now mortgage rate is six point
three seven percent, And I just googled these numbers.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I'm not saying, Hey, the national house average is for one.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Thousand potents, what they threw up there, at seven percent,
the payment would be on four hundred thousand, thirty years two.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Six hundred and sixty one. It goes down to twenty
four hundred.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
If it goes down to six percent from seven percent,
six nice. So if you compare it from seven.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
To five, seven to five, and I would.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Love that rate to be at five. I think it's
fair for everyone. That's a five one hundred and fourteen
dollars difference per month. Sweet. That's why we need the
rates to come down, because it stimulates gives us more
money to spend other places. Well, that's just a portional look,
just a quick look at the numbers.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Right now, we're not we're not getting the reports from
the government that we would usually get. So here's what
I'm curious about since we didn't get any and won't
get any probably this week when they finally come back
and we get that first report, what kind of sticker
shock are we going to be suffering from? If it's
(03:36):
good or bad, depending where it falls. But it's going
to be that first report in a while.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
When I was looking at these different numbers, it's the
first thing I thought about it. I look at all
the numbers. Not a whole lot of numbers are coming out,
but tomorrow would be talk about employment. Right, But you're right,
we're not getting what's gonna happen, Like if this happens
next week, could have Finally, you're right, what's gonna happen?
I have no idea. Well, we got to take a
look at where they're at. But then again, we're looking
at the FED meeting because we're creeping towards the end
(04:04):
of the month, even though it's only the night. But
you know, I'm wondering the same Our minds went to
the same place. There fred the same.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Thing, but good news. Advanced micro jumped again.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Up eleven point four. It's tech company shells up nine
point a company. I've not heard it, but technologies climbed
seventeen percent, so it's nice to look at. Uh ast
space Mobile jumped eight point six. Huh. They're working that
deal with Verizon about some space network stuff to help
(04:37):
with the customers.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
So sky Sky I'm not sure about that. They put
in their cellulars.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
So I'm not sure it's tied to Skyneck.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
But I don't know, Fred, I'm just I'm reading this.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
All you got to do apparently is attached a I
to your company name or say that you're, oh, you
know what we really should invest in on all of
a sudd and your stock was. It's kind of like
what Steak and Shake is doing. I wrote a story
on them the other day. They decided to, uh, and
this I'm sure as a move to increase business in
each of the Steak and Shake locations all across the country,
(05:15):
depending on what the local ordinances. They are going to
buy the biggest American flag that they can according to
local ordinances and fly it at each Steak and Shake. Jeez,
I wonder what kind of marketing that is.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Uh huh, Well, the one on the Minote Street that
I drove buy isn't there anymore. So I'm not exactly
I heard that we too, walk Measure might be adding
AI on there. Oh I'm joking.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I'm joking, all right, So no reports tomorrow. So what
are we looking forward to anything? In particular?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
We have earnings coming out Brett Okay, I know that's happening.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
We saw some earning PepsiCo hitter out of the park
this morning, but again that that stock has been flat
for a long time, over five years. Delta came out today.
It beat on both sides on revenue and estimated price
per share. So looking at Levi Strauss coming out later
today for I guess later this yeah, later this afternoon.
(06:17):
But we'll be watching those, all right.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
You keep an eye on that stuff. We'll talk to
you again tomorrow morning.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
