Speaker 2 (00:07):
Today's game is presented.
Speaker 1 (00:09):

by Home Loans by Jan Kroger, the Savings Bank, Shine
On Chilli Cooffee and Minards with the audio technic of
pregame show. Here's Andrew Day and Lou Postage.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Welcome in football fans to another football Friday night. We
are joining you this evening from Earl Knightfield at Huntington
High School, where the Huntsmen are set to welcome in
the Mustangs of westfol And I am joined. My name
is Andrew Day. I'm joined again by Trey Postage. Trey,
I think we're in for a really good one tonight.
(00:49):
This seems like two teams that are really kind of
in the same place, fighting for the same spot.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, and both teams are coming off thick wins.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Last week.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Huntington Payton Valley got the Maple Leaf Trophy for the
first time and I think nineteen years and West will
beat aDNA in a game that they really needed and
looking at the records for both teams, Huntington comes into
four and three, West will comes in a five and two.
Both these teams want to win this game, not just
for pride, but for their tournament chances.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Absolutely, And you look at these two programs. Coach step
I think this is his fourth year at West Ball,
Coach Bieler his third at Huntington. Both of them took
over when the program wasn't in a great spot, and
both of them have kind of built the programs up
and now both of them are trying to break through
to that upper half of the SVC. And tonight is
(01:40):
one of those opportunities for one of those two teams
to do that. Yeah, and there's gonna be a lot
of people here. It's homecoming night for Huntington and coming
off that big win last week. I think there's gonna
be a lot of people here. The energy is gonna
be up, and again we got great weather. We don't
have to deal with any elements. It's gonna be probably
the chilliest it is gonna be for all these teams
all year.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
So maybe a little bit cold here later when the
sun goes down, but it's gonna be a really good one.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
It is. It is, Paul has arrived. It is a
perfect night for football. When we come back, you're going
to hear from the coaches. This is the Adena Health
System pregame show on the Accurate Heating and Cooling and
Plumbing Game of the Week on ninety four Country WKKJ. Hi,
it's Steve Mann.

I heard Radio goes one on one with Lady A
to ask what they're most proud of.
Speaker 12 (04:49):
I think our friendship has continued to grow, and that's
one of the things that we're probably the most proud of.
We're proud of the music that we're creating and recording,
but I think the fact that we still really enjoy
doing this together and touring together, and that's the real victory,
because you know, so many times you just hear stories
of the relationship, the friendship with an event starting to interiorate,
(05:12):
and so that friendship is really important.

This is hometown high school football coverage with the Audio
Technica pregame Show on ninety four Country WKKJA.
Speaker 14 (05:29):
Welcome back to the aDNA Health Systems pregame Show. I
am now talking with Westfall head coach Logan's step coach.
Thank you for your time here today. You stand at
five and two now, and last time we saw you
was Week three with a thrilling overtime loss to Circleville
and that night you also lost your starting quarterback. Two
weeks ago you lost a tough one on the road
(05:50):
to zayn Trace. Talk about what your team learned from
those games that will help you over this tough three
game stretch to end the season.
Speaker 15 (05:57):
Yeah, so our guys learned a little bit about what
adversity feels like. And one of our core values here
at Westall is Handling University. And when you play a
close game like Circleville and you take it down to
the wire and you know you lose an overtime, you
know you learn a lot about yourself and then the
way you bounce back from that is almost sometimes more
important than anything else. And you know, we we won
(06:17):
a couple of games after that game, and then went
into Dane Trace and played then really tough. We had
them seven to nothing at the time, seven at the
end of the third and they ran a couple of
check plays on us and got us and the beat us,
you know, and then the same ideas how you're going
to respond to that.
Speaker 16 (06:32):
And then you come back to a pretty.
Speaker 15 (06:35):
Big rivalry that we have with Adena and that that
turned into a.
Speaker 16 (06:40):
Pretty good game.
Speaker 15 (06:41):
And then now now you have Huntington, right so, and
Huntington is better than they've ever been and they have
you know, I have a lot of respect for their
coach as far as lessons go, we really learned what
adversity is and how to handle that and how to
get better from it.
Speaker 14 (06:55):
Well, coach, your team offensively has a great combo in
the running backs the rights, they have been solid. But
talk about the emergence of Quinn Everly, not only as
a passer but also as a runner and what that
brings to your team.
Speaker 15 (07:08):
You know, he's he's a he's a really good athlete.
And I tell him every week that I don't need
Peyton Manning. I just need to be Quinn everly. Hopefully
that settles some nerves for him. But all that comes
from a really solid offensive line and those two running
backs back there that opened some things for him up right,
So you know, defenses.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Have to worry about three really really good.
Speaker 15 (07:29):
Running backs back there, and then you know, when we
want to, Quinn can throw, throw the open you know,
throw the deep ball, or you know, throw whatever we
needed to throw.
Speaker 16 (07:36):
He's played quarterback in the past.
Speaker 15 (07:38):
He was a quarterback two years ago when he hurt
his arm and we moved him to receiver, So not
new to him. He just really hasn't, you know, been
coached at quarterback till this year. So you know, he's
a special kid that that has a pretty special group
of offensive linemen in front of him and two really
good running backs that that make things available for him
at times. So it's it's been a real good addition
(08:00):
to the backfield.
Speaker 14 (08:02):
Well, coach your opponents this week. The Huntington Huntsmen are
in a very similar position as you are with three
games ago. That's what makes this game very important. What
do you see from them on film and what do
you expect from them? Come Friday night.
Speaker 15 (08:14):
They're a big, physical football team. That's that's discipline, you know.
Like I said, I have a lot of respect for
their coach and their coaching staff and how they've went
about their business the last few years.
Speaker 16 (08:24):
I think it's very comparable to how we've been handling.
Speaker 15 (08:26):
Our business here we Westball. We've you know, we've kind
of came in at the same times and tried to
do exactly.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
What we're doing now.
Speaker 15 (08:33):
We're building the culture, we're building a program, and he's
doing a very good job about At Huntington. He has
a lot of kids that believe in him and trust
what he's about. Right, So we're going to go into
a pretty hostile environment. They have i think sold sold
it out for the last couple of weeks on that
this is going to be a big game for them,
and they're going to have a have a blackout, and
(08:54):
you know, they're they're making this a big game and
it is. We we will treat.
Speaker 16 (08:57):
It as a big game as well.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
It's a we got to win this game.
Speaker 15 (09:01):
And we're going to go against some phys google players
for them, and a really really talented quarterback and a
couple of good skill guys so they have the potential
to be really good, and so do we. So we're
excited about the opportunity to go play a team like that,
and you know, I just hope we end up on
the winning side of things.
Speaker 14 (09:18):
Well, Coach, again, we appreciate your time for this interview
and best luck come Friday night.
Speaker 16 (09:22):
Thank you.
Speaker 14 (09:23):

Speaker 14 (12:46):
The Adena Health Systems Pregame Show. I am now talking
with Huntington coach Clay Bheeler, coach. Last week, your team
won the Maple Leaf Trophy for the first time in
nineteen years. Talk about what that meant to your team
and your.
Speaker 25 (13:00):
That's something since you know I came on board with
Ed Yates, that has been at the forefront of the program,
something that we knew, you know, we had to attack
and make it a priority from day one.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
So we've been we've been doing a little extra even
in the weight room.
Speaker 25 (13:13):
In January, we do Bainbridge Circuit, you know, in the
off season. We do it Extra Hill a couple of
times a week during the season, just to give a
little extra energy to the Maple Leaf. You know, at
the end of the day, the community is always there
supported us and that you know, I think our kids,
the community, our administration, I mean, they deserve to be
able to compete in that game. And our kids stepped up.
(13:35):
They knew what was at stake and they got the
job done. So it's just for our kids to finally
kind of climb that mountain and it's something that they've
worked for and honestly, the three years prior we kind
of you know, we went into that game and.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Got our butts kicked.
Speaker 25 (13:49):
So they stepped up mentally focused and then played a
played a great game on Friday. So we're excited to
have that thing back in the township and I know
our community as well.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Well.
Speaker 14 (13:58):
Coach, this is special week in the township. I think
it's homecoming week for you guys. And right now you
stand four and three, two and two in the league,
and you know this is a special thing. You guys
have going on this year. I look back on some
of the records. Huntington's only won five games twice in
the last ten years. You have a chance to win
your fifth game here in week number eight. The next
(14:20):
three weeks are going to be very important for your
team and they have a great opportunity to finish the
regular season here on a nice run. What's the mindset
of your team right now and how has practice been
going this week?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
The mindset, I would just say is focus.
Speaker 25 (14:33):
You know, we've been working on culture and doing things
the right way, and I think the kids know what's
on the line every.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Week we go ahead it. We got to be one
to know every week.
Speaker 25 (14:42):
You know, they're always focused on the opponent at hand,
not anything out ahead of us. Practice has been great
this week. The kids know what they gotta do to
win and compete. And you know, I think that we
got a bunch of kids that love the game, love
each other, and I think they're ready to.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Take on and Challas to change the culture here.
Speaker 14 (15:02):
Coach, this week, your opponents the West Fall Mustangs. They
are basically in the same position as you are. Both
teams see this as a very important game. What do
you see from West Fall on films, and what do
you expect from them come Friday night?
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Westball.
Speaker 25 (15:16):
I always had a lot of respect for Logan step
over there. I think he runs a great program and
then he runs, you know, the right way. They always
got a big line got you know some some people movers.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
They always got some speed.
Speaker 26 (15:29):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
They got their running back quarterback duo in.
Speaker 25 (15:31):
The backfield that really really fast, and if you give
them a little bit of space, you're probably in trouble.
And then you know they're always attacking on special teams,
so you always got a kind of all three fastest
in the game.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
You gotta be ready.
Speaker 25 (15:42):
And then defensively, it looks like they're they're getting a
lot better linebackers fly around.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
So I think we got to be ready.
Speaker 25 (15:48):
We got to cross our teams, dot our eyes and
be prepared.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
For a great game.
Speaker 14 (15:53):
Well, coach, we know it is going to be a
great game, and we wish you the best of ut
come Friday night.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
I thank you guys, really appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Starting for the Huntsmen of Huntington, You're coming off a
really big win last week, so you're really just looking
to build off that and getting off to a really
fast start, and that's going to come from Frankie Hurst,
a junior quarterback and the senior.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Running back and Isaac Taylor. Frankie Hurst is running or
closing in on a thousand yards passing for this year.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
So he's able to do it in the air, but
also with his legs. And also Huntington defensively, they've really
west Feld really loves to run between the tackles, so
Huntingson's really got to get that penetration up the middle
by their linebackers and stay home and don't bite it
on those fakes. Westfeld really likes to use misdirection and everything,
so Huntingson's linebackers really needs to read their keys and
(20:27):
keeps their.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Keep their eyes out of the backfield.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
And for west Fall, again you're coming off a win,
really looking to build off that momentum as you're going
into the playoffs. West Folk's really gonna hand the ball
off to the rights. And that's the running backs of
Joey Wright and Eli Wright. They kind of split carries
each way, but they're both really effective. And the big
the big key is their quarterback, Quinn Everley. He took
(20:50):
over started out as a wide receiver this year. She
took over from the injured quarterback and he's been progressing
from week to week. He's really good on the ground,
but he's really starting to throw the ball and like
coach Steff said, he has the ability to throw the
ball and we'll see if Wessell is able to do
that tonight.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
And like I said, Wessell is really good at mis direction.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
So if they can really get Huntings in the Bible
in those fakes and get some open lanes, that's going
to work out really good for Westball. And they really
love that screen screen passing game with Everley. You do
not want to get in that third wall and third
and unmanageable range where you have to throw the ball,
so you really want to keep that in third and
short to be able to just go back to the

Country w KKJA. Today's game is presented by accurate Heating,
Cooling and Plumbing and brought to you by Home Loans

and Mynards. Now from the audio technical broadcast boop Here's
(25:13):
Andrew Day and lou postage.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Well, welcome back. We are just minutes away from kickoff.
West Fall won the toss. They elected to defer to
the second half, so they will kick to Huntington to
start this game, just to get some starters in here
for both teams. Huntington's offense is led by quarterback frank
Ye Hirsch. He's a junior. In the backfield are Isaac
(25:39):
Taylor and Evan Thomas. The seniors a couple of the receivers, Adulton, Nichols,
Carson Hale and h and Junior McDonald is out tonight.
He's been a big part of this offense. He will
not play. He is injured. They will miss him in
(25:59):
that well. The west Fall defense. The defensive line, we
have King Nichols, Rose and On. At the linebacker spots
Joey Wright, Rick Hanley Chreas and Humphrey Eli Wright. And
here comes the kick. West Fall kicks the Huntington. Huntington
(26:22):
fields it at the twenty uh. He's got some room
to run up the middle, gets to about the forty
and is brought down by a host of Westall tackles.
Speaker 16 (26:30):
To the rest of the west.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Fall defense, here we have Cayden Areo, Vincent Daniels, and
Carson Deskins. Along the Huntington offensive Carson Smith, Jared Johnson,
Luke George Caden Birchfield and Jaden Moore. Huntington will start
with the football at their own forty three yard line.
(26:55):
It will be first and ten and uh, good chance
to see a really good quarterback for the Huntsman, Frankie
Hirsch Trey.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yeah, like I said, he's closed in one thousand passing
yards this year, which is really good for a running offense.
He's made some timely passes and he's able to show
off that Army's guy.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
He's going to start in the pistol formation, some motion
by Huntington. He's going to hand it off to Isaac
Taylor on the left side. Isaac Taylor fights for about
four yards on that first down carry. It's a homecoming night.
We had some royalty that was named King was red
(27:33):
tonight to Smith, So congratulations to them. Were you ever
the homecoming King? Trey?
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Now, yeah, if I was even eligible, I'd probably say.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Now. So, we've got Hirsch in the shotgun. He's going
to hand it off to uh number zero, Evan Thomas,
who is dropped at the line of scrimmage. Yeah, just
nowhere to go there, Evan Thomas.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Westfall really a good job, just like winning that battle
between the offensive line. Fall are the offensive line for
Ruddington the defensive line for Westwall was just able to
get that for no game.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
So we are third and sixth years.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
And this is the kind of down the distance where
you're like, Huntington may have the edge over Westwall is
because they got a quarterback to throw the ball, and
curious to see what Huntington does here with some routes.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Hirsh takes the snap, he's gonna roll out to his
left and misses the receiver. It will be fourth down
and we will see the team come onto the field.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
That was still just a really nice throat right there
by Franklin. Hirsh has a zip on it for his
receiver to do that. Just Yeah, it would be interesting.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
To see how this game goes, how the passing game
affects both sides. Yeah, they're gonna roll Hirsh out quite
a bit, get him out of the pocket, allow him
to be the athlete that he is, and make some
reads and make decisions and and go from there. This
is Calvin Hirsch punting. It will drop and Huntington will
down the ball at the west Fall twenty four yard line.
(29:06):
So that's where they Mustang will take over.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, and talking to the Huntings and coaching staff, McDonald
junior McDonald who is injured, he believe their punter and
their kicker. So they're going through a little bit different
changes here. On the special team.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
They are the west Fall offense is led by number
five Quinn Everley at the quarterback position. In the backfield
two fantastic running backs Joey Wright and Eli Wright. On
the outside, you'll see Carson Deskins, Whaling, Moore and Land
and Sparks. Along the offensive line, you have Keenan Van Dine,
Russ Colahan, Mason Holderman, Sutton nef and Dominic Andrea. Westfall
(29:42):
will also start in the shotgun. Quinn Everley will take
the snap, he will hand off and up the middle
goes Joey Wright. Joey Wright takes it to the fifty,
down to the forty five, to forty, the thirty five
and all the way to the Huntington thirty for a
huge Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
West Falls offensive did a really good jockey a really
big hole for for right there.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
He he was that was a little a large lane
to run through Huntington or west Fall is going to
push the pace here on offense, We'll get to the
Huntington defense as soon as we can. Quinn Everley in
the pistol formation. He's got Joey Wright lined up behind him.
(30:29):
Beverly's going to take the snap. He's going to hand
off to right and right well again, find some space
on the left side, drag a few tacklers with him,
and pick up about eight The real quick.
Speaker 16 (30:40):
Let me.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
On the defensive line is Caden Baker, Jared Johnson, Jade
Moore and Jackson, line packer Isaac Taylor, Cayden Birchfield and
Carson McNeil. And the defensive backfield Keegan Woodruff, Calvin Hirsch,
and Cole Harbor split backs now on either side of Everly.
(31:04):
He's gonna hand it off to looks like Joey Wright
once again. He breaks a couple more tackles and gets
all the way down to the Huntington ford. It's gonna
be are I said misdirection runs, but these are just
straight up handoffs, and Ronnington knows where he's going. There's
just not able to stop they are this This west
(31:26):
Fall offensive line is creating wide open lanes right now.
Beverly's gonna take the snap. He's gonna hand off to
Eli right. He slips a little bit in the backfield,
makes his way forward to about the two yard line
where it will be second down for the Mustangs.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Yeah, Joey Wright gets them all the way down there,
and then they handed off to Eli right there, trying
to get a touchdown here.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Joey and Eli are cousins and both of them have
over six hundred yards coming into the game. Hand off
to Eli again up the middle and he is gonna
take it into the end zone.
Speaker 16 (31:59):
For a touchdown, touchdown Mustangs.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Not too much trouble there for the Mustangs on the
way down their tray.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
No, and that's gonna be what two yard run by
Eli Wright, I believe. So west Fall, they just they
put Eli on one side, Joey on the middle, or
any on the other side, with the quarterback in the middle.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
And they just hand it off to one of them. Well,
Quinn Everly is a really good runner himself, So this
is a team that has multiple backs that can really
create an advantage for themselves.
Speaker 16 (32:27):
On Carson Deskins point after.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Carson Deskins will attempt the point after for west Fall.
Snap is good, hold is good, and he is gonna
sneak it in there point after attempt, so that now
gives west Fall a seven to nothing lead. You're listening
to the accurate Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Game of the

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Huntington and is set to receive the kickoff at the twenty.
They're gonna break it around the outside. He gets to
the forty, to the forty five, to the fifty, he's
gonna cut it back up field. He gets on, he's
gonna get him. He's going in twenty five twere where
he's just tripped up by a west Fall defender and
he will be brought down. Nichols west Fall twenty yard
(34:20):
linet Nicholas with the return. Yeah, Nichols did a good job.
He actually went towards the right first, then he reversed field,
came down toward the left. He was gone. But I
think I was number eleventh for west Fall that tripped
him up there.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
I've found a name for eleven that is eight late
tripped him up, saved a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Yeah, great job of not giving up on the play
by late, so Huntington will start here. It looks like
the nineteen yard line of West Fall. It's just what
you wanted for Huntingtons. He gave up a touchdown pretty
easily on the open drive. Now you got a changea momentum.
I really want to cash him with the score here.
Hirsch takes the snap. He's gonna hand it off to
(35:00):
number eight. It looks like I think that's zero number
zero ed Thomas Thomas. He's gonna pick up about Christy
seven on that play.
Speaker 16 (35:11):
Eight to be second and two for the husband.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
We are the volume of the PA. The speakers are
right above us, so you're gonna hear a lot of
bud Lytel, who's one of the fantastic voices around the SVC.
Hirsch takes a snap. He's gonna throw it out wide.
They're gonna break it back inside. He takes a huge
hit right before the gold line, and he gets a
(35:36):
first down. These Huntington uniforms aren't the easiest to see.
I'm sorry about the lack of numbers on time. Yeah,
that looked like was that number eight? I believe it
was complete, but I don't have an eighth number for
the I don't think PA guys number eight either. So
(35:58):
I was like, good lill scream pass I want scored.
There it was Persch is gonna hand off to Taylor.
Taylor is gonna fight his way into the end zone
for a touchdown. So answer a touchdown. Just a few
plays and uh it is seven to six and Huntington
will come on. They're gonna actually go for two again
referencing back for the lack of Junior McDonald. Uh, they
(36:21):
just don't have a ton of confidence in their kicking
game right now. So I think we're gonna see this
probably most of the night. They're just gonna go for two.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Yeah, And Huntington's gonna keep going for two, and they're
gonna keep converting. Wessell's gonna have to adjust and they're
gonna have to start going for two. So we're gonna
see how this this plays out here Persh again under
under center. Here a lot of motion here from the huntsman.
Persch is gonna take the snap, He's gonna hand off
(36:49):
to Taylor. Taylor is not gonna make it in. They're
trying to push the pile and he is not gonna
make it in. So the scorer will.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Stay, We're going to take a break.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Well try, I think both of us came into this
game expecting maybe a lot of points, and we're not
even halfway through the first quarter here. Both teams have put.
Speaker 26 (38:23):
Up a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Yeah, really good start by both teams being able to
show off some big players.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
We had a big kick return by Huntington.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
But and then also with west Fall about a fifty
five yard run there by Isaac Taylor or not Isaac
Taylor wrong side, Joey Wright.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
I been Huntington with the squid kick there. West Fall
is going to field it right at the thirty four
yard line, their own thirty four yard line, so that's
where they'll take go over to ten. I think if
you're west Fall right now, you've you saw how well
(39:03):
it worked on the first drive. I think you're just
gonna see a lot of power football here. Oh yeah,
there's there's no point another just putting the ball in
harm's way or other than just giving it to your
your two tailbacks enjoying right Eli right, Rohninckton, you got
to watch out for that in this direction with quarterback
being able to keep the ball. Yeah, absolutely. Everly in
the shotgun. He's gonna fake the handoff. He's gonna run
up the middle. He's gonna find a little bit of space.
(39:25):
Looked like there was a face max mask there and
we're gonna see some flags come in on the play. Yeah,
on the tackle.
Speaker 16 (39:34):
There's a flag on the play.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
So Quinn Everley started out the season at the receiver position.
In the third game of the season, A. J. Poddocks,
who was the quarterback, a very good quarterback, got hurt
against Circleville. Every came into that game and uh really
led the offense well for West Fall, but it was
(39:56):
all running. It was all running at that at that
point they have started to in the past war but
again with the little amount of trouble they had in
the first drive, I think we're going to see a
lot more of the running game. Beverly is in the
shotgun looking at the sideline for the play.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Wessell's runs have all been up the middle, so Huntingson
really has to get that penetration up the middle by
the linebackers.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
That's another handoff to Joey right, and the Huntington defense
is all over it, and that's gonna be a two
yard loss on first down. Exactly what I said. Huntington
was able to penetrate through that offense line in the middle,
and that way they were able to get Joey right
there in the backfield right enough for about two yard loss.
If you're Huntington, this is what you have to hope for.
(40:42):
You've got to put Westfall in situations where they have. Yeah,
you got to make Everly show that he can throw
the wall first, and then you can back off a
little bit once he shows that he can. There's the snap.
(41:03):
Joey Wright starts up the middle, tries to bounce it outside.
He's gonna pick up about four on that play, So
it's gonna lead to a third and eight for west Fall.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Pretty good penetration right there by Huntington, but just a
better job at Joey Wright, who was able to just
fall forward from about two or three yards there. Bring up,
this is what west one doesn't want. They want the
third and long.
Speaker 16 (41:24):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
You know this is a passing now, but they may
try and go two runs. Yeah, and with the field
position they have right now, which is at the Huntington
forty three, this may be. This could be four down territory.
Every in the pistol. He's gonna fake the hand off
to Eli right, he's gonna roll out and sorry, faked
the hand off to Joey Wright. Just missed Eli Wright
(41:48):
of the pass so.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
Before and seventh there it was Wessell tried to put
the ball in the air and then he had him
wide open. That was Eli Wright out of the backfield.
He was heading right towards the sideline. Just a little
bit of an over a throw by Everley.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
Yeah. So west Fall is going to punt here, or
at least they're gonna line up that way. Carson Deskins
is the west Fall kicker and punter. He awaits the snap,
(42:23):
there's the snap, Deskins gets it, kicks it, and it's
gonna go down to the Oh. Looks like it's happened
to the one yard line where west Fall downs it.
You can't ask for anything better.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
That was a really good punk right there from west Fall.
It wasn't even touchdown, It just stopped. I Yeah, really
nice pot there by? Was that Deskins? Yeah, Carson Deskins.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
That looked like one of your shots from about one
hundred and fifty yards out. You put a little spin
on it, tray stick it on the green. Just let
it die right there next to the hole, and then
you got that nice bread. We're gonna talk golf a
lot tonight. I don't halftime.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
We're gonna be joined by Huntington's Tucker Taylor before he
heads to the state tournament and plays on Monday at
North Star Golf Course.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
Yeah. Absolutely. Also, I wanted to congratulate the Adena volleyball team.
They wrapped up their thirty third conference title in volleyball
last night, so and it was a gold ball to boot,
So congratulations to them. Huntington is going to start. There's
not much room for him to go back, but they
just got a full start penalty, so they're going to
(43:33):
go from about the one and a half yard line
to about three quarter yard. I think they're going to
talk about it in the CFO. Westfall maybe drew him
to do the fall start, but that would be a
huge break for Huntington if that were the case. But
they are going to call false start that we'll make
it after the distance of the goal, which again is
(43:56):
about three quarters of the yard. Yeah, I mean fall
start penalty.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
He's not gonna kill you for Huntington, but you really
just cannot take a loss here, You're you're really looking
to get some more room. If you can't get that
first down, punt it and get it back to the
other side of the field.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Keep it simple and give it to Isaac Taylor. And
that's what hope. They're gonna give it to the fullback. Actually,
I believe that was Evan Thomas. He's gonna pick up
about three on the play, so it gives them a
little bit more breathing room in their.
Speaker 16 (44:22):
Own eyes zone.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
And we were talking to the Huntington coaching staff again.
Their punter is, they've got new punter, so we're not
sure how they're gonna be able to do this. Is
Huntington really needs to get this first down if they can,
but if not, they might get Huntington. It's a good
field position.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
Yeah, absolutely, Huntington will start again in a tight formation.
Frankie Hirsh under center. He's gonna drop back and then
run forward. He's gonna maybee get a yard on that play.
He dropped back like he was gonna pass, but it
was definitely a design run.
Speaker 15 (45:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
I don't think any receiver went out for a route.
So it just really really good job by west Wall
not biting you for that. Just nowhere to go for
for Frankie Hurst on that run. But here it comes
about the third and six.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Yeah, yeah, this is a crucial down because again where
they are on the field, which is their own six
yard line, and could make it really tough if they
have to punt.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Yeah, and if you're Huntings and you want to be
aware if you're going to drop back and pass, you're
in the spot where you're you'll be in the in
the the end zone there, So the offensive line try
not to hold.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
There's some late substitutions here. I'm not sure what we're
That should be a delayed game, but oh they're gonna
reset the game the laird. Yeah that was weird, all right.
So Huntington third and six here from their own six
yard line, crucial play coming up for the Huntsman. Hirsch
(45:57):
takes the snap, drops throws, oh my goodness, Nichols right
in the hands and he just wasn't able to hold
on to it. That would have been a first down
for sure.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
Yeah, that would have been a gain of at least
ten there and he you right in a chest.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
That's one you gotta come down with.
Speaker 38 (46:14):
Now.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Huntington's got a tough spot here to pump back to
west Fall. Weste's gonna get a pretty good field position.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Here, Yeah they are. Quinn Everley is back standing at
the Huntington thirty seven yard forty yard line now to
feel this punt, So yes, to your point, they're most
likely going to get some really good field position here.
Calvin Hirsch is gonna take the snap, he punts it
and that is up in the air and it's gonna
(46:42):
land at about the thirty five yard line of Huntington.
So west Fall, we're gonna start off with some great
field position here. Track.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Yeah, I mean, that wasn't you know, the worst punt
that you could have there. You're still gonna give west
Willson a good field position, but you know, really good
job by Huntington not mess up on that end of
the zone. West Fall got it all the way down
to the one and you know, heys and didn't turn
the ball over and get a really costly penalty. So
now you got to lock back in with with defense
to get a stop here with west Fall's ground game goal.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Yeah, we have three forty eight left in the first quarter.
West Fall takes back over Quinn Everly in the shotgun
with Joey Wright to his left. He's going to take
the snap, hand it off to Joey Wright goes up
the right side and picks up about five or six
on that play. Joey Wright is not afraid of contact.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
I'm learning now he's definitely finishing his runs here, he's
and he's he's always falling forward. What I want to
see from West Falls. They're lining up three wide receivers
on one side of the field. There's only two corners
and a safety. Better watch on a screen pass that
really takes a snap. He goes through the hole on
the left side and picks up about six enough for
a West Fall first down.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
Got the h at the Huntington twenty one yard live.
Speaker 3 (48:07):
Yeah, but now you you you're inside the close to
the red zone here for Westall.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Just continue grinding out those runs. If you're gonna get
four or five yards on each carry that you're gonna have,
just keep grinding them runs out. Yep, we've got Everly
back in the shotgun or in the pistol rather Joey
Wright wind up behind him. He takes the snap, hands
(48:33):
off to Joey right and the Huntington defense does a
good job of getting multiple guys in the football. They're
gonna bring him down after about a one yard run.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Yeah, it's kind of hard to get these numbers here,
but I think that was number sixty Jaydon actually number
fifty nine Jared.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Johnson that got in there really fast.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Uh he had a really good get off there and
got in the backfield and stopped uh.
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Eliterr or Joey Wright for no no game, Westfold. Nothing huddling,
Everyone just looking to the sideline waiting for the signal
from the coaches. Everly again, everyone looks back at the sideline.
We have five seconds on the play clock. Every gonna
(49:18):
take the snap just in time, Gonna hand off to
Joey right right up the middle, and he breaks a
couple of tackles and gets down to about the fourteen
yard line, about a six yards run, and it'll be
third and four for the Mustangs.
Speaker 3 (49:33):
It looks like he would have had more about Carson
McNeil was the one that wrapped him up and actually
brought him backwards a little bit. So a really good
job of wrapping up by McNeil there. Uh, really third
and short, big down here for Westfall.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
There's a handoff to joe or to Eli Wright. I
believe he's gonna make it about a five yard game
and he's gonna make it for a first down.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
So Eli went from fullback position, yeah, and was able
again for Huntington. That was Carson Carson McNeil that stopped
in there, but Eli Wright fall four for a couple
more yards.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
We'll get that first down, yeah, so it'll be first
and goal from the ted yard line. The McNeil brothers
when we saw them play this was the first game
of the season, but they were so disruptive when for
anything that East Clinton was trying to do, uh, they
they created problems. So they're gonna be the key tonight
for this Huntington defense. I believe Beverly's gonna hand it
(50:31):
off to Joey Wright. He is going to get about
three on that carry. We get to about the six
yard line, so it'll be second goal.
Speaker 39 (50:39):
From the sixth said Hald additional for we've got fifty
seconds left and running here in this fourth quarter with
but we quarter sorry at the six yard line, second
and goals.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
Huntington really knows that they're gonna try and run this ball,
So we're gonna see if we're gonna get more penetration
here just.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
To stop him. Every unders enter, he's gonna take the snap,
he's gonna fake the handoff, roll out to his right,
and just again missus Eli Wright coming out of the backfield.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
Well, I think that caught everybody off the time. They
were really wanting to run that ball again, That's what
I was thinking. But he wrote faked the handoff, rolled out.
He had a receiver again, It's just was not a
good throw right there by Everley.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
He also had Aiden Layton wide open in the back
of the end zone, but obviously took the pass that
was easier seen. Our first quarter tonight is brought to
you by Home Loans by Jen and we have about
thirty seconds left here in this first quarter. Play clock
is down to ten seconds. Westwell's gonna have to hurry
(51:41):
to get this playoff. Ever Lee back in the shotgun,
gonna send Joey Wright in motion, gonna hand off to
Eli Wright. He's gonna bounce out to the left, breaks
two tackles and is down at the one yard line.
So it will be fourth in about a half a
(52:01):
yard for the Mustang. That was really close.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
It was a good job by two Huntington. The fitners
there can't really see their numbers, but I would not
be surprised. One of their last days deals, I was
able to get him down just right there at the
one yard line.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
And now Wessell's gonna have decision. Are we going to
go four and fourth and go with the one or
kick field? Well, that is going to end the first quarter.
This is the accurate eating plumbing game of the week. WKKJ. Hi,

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA three State Golfer.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Well, we are back here. It is a seven to
six westfol League as we start the second quarter, but
they are knocking on the door in a fourth every
one club about the half yard line. Every takes the
snap is not going to get there. They are going
to rule him down at the half yard line in
(53:57):
Huntington with a goal line stop. Will now take back
over with the football at their own one yard line. Yeah,
it looks like everyone was taking that from the behind
the center and they were just trying to push him
in there. But whenever he got the snap, you kind
of just went straight to the ground. Wasn't able to
get any any yardage on that run. So yeah, Huntington
(54:17):
second take straight time. They're gonna start inside their one
yard line. But you'd rather have it there than give
up any more. So less question, no question. So, uh,
this second quarter is brought to you by a shine
on Chillicothee dot Org. Huntington will start again at their
own one yard line, and uh, we'll see if they
(54:39):
can get anything going. You know, when when you start here,
you have to be really conservative on your first couple
of plays, So you gotta you gotta have your offensive
line move some bodies and try to create some running
lanes here. Hirsh It's gonna take the snap from under center.
He's gonna hand off to Evan Thomas there and and
(55:00):
he's gonna pick up maybe three yards there to create
some space.
Speaker 3 (55:04):
He has a good first down run there, just to
give him a little bit more breathing room. And last
time they get threw from this spot, So I would
not be surprised if they get back into the pass
game really fast here and try and pick up a
good chunk.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
Yeah, the key there is you want to make sure
you get rid of the ball quickly. Don't hang on
to it even if nothing's open, fired over somebody's head
out of bounds and live to see another day. All right, Well,
Huntington second and seven here, hirsh back under center, a
(55:37):
lot of motion by the whole entire offensive line. Hush
is gonna hand off to Isaac Taylor. Isaac Taylor doesn't
find much room up the middle, and west Fall is
gonna hold him to about a one yard game there.
So we're gonna have third and six, kind of back
to the same situation they were in on their last drive. Tray.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Yeah, I'm gonna look for Huntington to throw a pass
again here they last time it was right to Dalton Nichols,
but he just dropped it when he runs in the chest.
He just couldn't come down with it. So I would
not be surprised if they look his way again.
Speaker 2 (56:07):
All right, So play clock down to twenty. Like you said,
you want to get this ball out quick.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
You don't want to give him a chance to be
able to u sack you in the end zone or
have a holding penalty there in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
Hersh back in the shotgun, he takes the snap, he's
gonna find ope he slip slips out of a tackle
in the end zone, he gets hit and is gonna
be brought down about two three yards short of the
first down. In good athletic play there, right by Frankie Hurst.
But I think it's gonna come back. They're gonna have
(56:45):
a hole. Honeyton's gonna look out. It wasn't in the
end zone, but it was whenever he dropped back the pass.
I think it's gonna be right around the one or
two yard line. Okay, I don't think they're gonna put
that in the end zone though. Is west Falk gonna
decline this? That could be an interesting decision here. You
don't really Yeah, you give him an extra play, but
you also have a chance to maybe put him back
(57:07):
at the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
You're right, it's gonna be like a two yard penalty,
and uh, if they don't, it'll be about what fourth
and two.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
So kind of a little risky there, but you wouldn't
give hunting to another play. They are going to decline this,
So it is gonna be about four to three and
Huntington's gonna send on the punting the play the fourth
and three for the husband. So again, another another tough spot.
(57:37):
Here for freshman Calvin Hirsh.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Yeah, if you're Westfall, you really don't wanna uh let
this hit you so uh like if you you just
want to grab it or just let it roll out.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
There's a decent punt there from Hirsh. It's gonna land
and roll and get out to the uh Huntington forty
three yard line. So again that's where west and will
take over. And you know, if you're a west Fall
right now, I think you have to feel good about
the way you've been able to move the ball. It's
just a matter of being able to to put the
(58:11):
ball in the end zone and take advantage of these situations.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
Yeah, they got it all the way down to Huntington's
one yard line and just came up a little bit short.
So this drive right here is where you want to
go back to it and maybe get a little bit
more momentum going.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
So all right, So west Fall takes over again on
their forty three yard line, up seven to six, nine
fifty two left in the second quarter. Quinn Everley is
gonna take the snap. He's gonna hand off to Joey Right.
Joey Right bounces it out on the right side picks
up about ten before he's knocked out of mounds, and
(58:46):
I believe either gonna mark him short about a yard
and a half short of.
Speaker 16 (58:50):
The carry around by ten Calvin Hirsch.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
Calvin Hirsch with the stop, and again west Fall staying
pretty true to who they are. They're gonna they're gonna
pound the rock as much as they can, and you know,
let their really good athletes make plays. So every lines
up in the pistol, Joey Wright lined up behind them,
(59:17):
He's gonna hand off to right right, has all kinds
of room up the middle. He's gonna break another couple
of tackles before half the Huntington defense is able to
bring him down there. So another pickup of about ten
eleven yards there for west Fall. Yeah, Joey Wright does
a really good job.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
When he gets that ball in the backfield, he makes
one cut and goes right into the hole, and Westfold's
really running between the tackles. That's all these runs up then,
So Huntington's really got to disrupt in between the tackles
and get pressure there.
Speaker 2 (59:48):
Another handoff this time to Eli right up the middle.
He's gonna take a few defenders with him and pick
up about four. It's nice. It's a nice luxury to
have both of the rights because you can run Joey
three or four you know, plays in a row, and
then give him a break and let Eli take over
for a little while.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Yeah, it's nice that you can give him just a
little rest. Even on the field. He can just have
a rest there and just let let Eli just take over.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Absolutely, west Fall with the ball on their own or
on the Huntington eighteen yard line. Every in the pistol,
they're going to hand off again to Eli Wright. He's
gonna find his way up for a game of about ten.
But it looks like we're gonna have a hold. A
couple of penalty flags fly in, so we'll see exactly
(01:00:35):
what that.
Speaker 26 (01:00:36):
Is on the carry.
Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
Calvin h Yeah, it looks like west Fall's offensive line
tried to get to that second level and they're walking
onto the linebackers the Huntington. He just kind of grabbed
a hold of them, one of the offensive line from
Huntington or from west Fall and then letting go. Wait
for the official signal, and it is a hole on
west Fall. There were two different holds. The first one
(01:01:02):
was to climb. Yeah, I thought that was weird. I
had to combat that would have been a questionable decision.
Speaker 16 (01:01:09):
All the most things.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
The officials tonight, William Dylon, Mike Kraft, John Blinton, Brian Roach,
Andrew Skaggs, and Brooks Snyder.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Now for wesselall this is you had a good drive
going and now this this holding penalty is going to
drop you back to about second and fifteen or sixteen.
So now if you don't get a good chunk play here,
you're gonna be in another passing down.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
This is just not working out for Wessell. You don't
want to be in this passing bounds. It looks like
Huntington is going to take at the time out, so
we're going to take a break. This is the accurate heating, cooling,
and plumbing game of the Week on ninety four Country

Goheck, this is hometown high school football coverage on ninety
four Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Followed the game, and we are back, uh eight forty
five left in the second quarter, second fifty Quinneverly's gonna
take the snap and run up the middle and pick
up about four so that will bring up third down.
We have a couple of scores to pass along to
(01:03:14):
you in the sec and these scores can be found
on the Mill City Apparel scoreboard on wk dot com.
After one quarter, aDNA and piked in or title seven
and Zane Trace is up twenty eight to nothing on Southeastern.
Both of those are after the first quarter. So interesting
(01:03:35):
play call here Trey third and about they're gonna call
it thirteen on the Huntington twenty four yard line. Yeah,
I anticipate like a screen pass or something. Get it
out real quick. Beverly drops back, He's gonna make a
throat to the end zone and it's gonna be picked
off by Huntington in the end zone for a touchback. Yeah,
(01:04:02):
we can hard to see that number there. Yeah, I
believe it was Frankie Hirsh, so he's getting done on
both sides of the ball really just wasn't open there.
There was Frankie was the cornerback. There was also some
safety help. Everly tried to throw it anyway and it
was picked off by Hersh, So Huntington's gonna get the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
I think Westall was kind of like, hey, let's throw
it and if it gets picked off, it's kind of
like a punt. So when you're doing that, you want
to keep that just a little bit shorter of that
end zone. But it wasn't terrible fro By. I really
got it a pretty good away in the distance, but
just nothing there with being double covered.
Speaker 2 (01:04:36):
So Huntington with a little bit of breathing room for
the first time in about three drives. They're gonna start
at their own twenty Hirsh starting the pistol, He's gonna
hand off to Taylor. Taylor's gonna get maybe a yard
on that play. The West Fall line right now is
(01:04:57):
not allowing any sort of open up for the Huntington run.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
Game now, they were doing a really good job of
winning at the line of scrimmage there, So the defensive
line and the linebackers for Westwall really getting into the
backfield and just stalemating Huntington not able to get any
holes open for the running back.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Probably gonna have to do some creative things move some
eyes on the Westfold defense here, but there's just nothing
open up up the middle right now. This is a
strange formation. Hirsh gonna take a direct snap, he's gonna
be led by some blockers and he's gonna pick up
about four on that play. So that's gonna leave with
(01:05:38):
the third and five situation.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Yeah, it was a weird formation there for Huntingson Pershon
end up having the ball and the two running backs
and one fullback. We're leading blockers, so we had three
leading blockers to go with the offensive line.
Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
Now it's third and five.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
I really want to see Howntingson go back to that
passing game. They had success. It wasn't caught, but they
did have a really good look.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
So hirsh awaits the snap, gonna send McNeil in motion.
Hirsch is gonna roll out to the left, sees a
receiver down field and just over the hands of look
like number eight again where these uniforms are not not
(01:06:21):
our favorites in terms of being able to see early
was number eight. We didn't get his name. It was
number eight, and we don't have a number eight on
our rosters, so we will do our best to try
to find out who that is. Number L. J. Cooper
J Cooper.
Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
All right, And that was a really good pass by
hersh just a little bit too hot. It's a little
too high, but he had Carson McNeil wide open for
the first down there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:46):
But he showed off his strong arm that he did.
Huntington back out to punt Calvin Hirsch is gonna kick
it and everybody's gonna let it drop and then fall
on it at the thirty one yard line of west Fall.
So another good and uh west Fall will take over
here with a seven to six lead, and they left
(01:07:08):
here in the second quorder, and uh again, I think
we're probably gonna see uh more of the same here
from west Fall. They're probably gonna uh do their best
to keep the ball on the ground here.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
Yeah, with six ten to go here in the first half,
Westfall gets the ball half so they can kind of
go to for one here where if you get all
the way down the field and uh and score with
no time left, you're gonna get the ball here back
to start second half.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
So Everly will line up in the shotgun Joey right
to his right. He fakes the handoff, every finds the
space up the middle, and picks up about.
Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
Nine yards on the first down run. Everly's had some success.
He's averaged about four or five yards per carry. So
we talked about that misdirection by west Fall. Is now
that Joey rightly established and Huntington's starting to key on him,
Everly's gonna be able to keep it and have a
(01:08:04):
few upper holes.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Beverly takes the snap, hands off to Joey Right. He's
gonna bounce it outside, but not before Uh guess who
one of the McNeil's takes them down in the back.
Neil Jackson McNeill.
Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
Yeah, it was a big time playing. He got in
the mac field, right, is that fall the snap? And
then he just chased down Joey right, who had some
space round that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
It had McNeil not taking him down, it would have
been been a nice run there for Joey Wright. But
it's third and four down.
Speaker 15 (01:08:34):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Westwall keeps finding themselves in these situations, and Huntington, so
far as his defense, has done a good job of holding.
So third and four, five minutes left here in this
second quarter, Beverly's gonna take the snap. He's gonna hand
off to Joey right up the middle, and he's gonna
(01:08:56):
get just enough for the first down. It looks like
this official, the one on the on the opposit side
of the field, So I think it's gonna be fourth down. Yeah,
it looks like fourth and maybe a foot. Joey Wright
did a good job.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
He got hit at the line of scrimmage almost that
he just he found his way for about four yards
and they're gonna measure here, but I think he's gonna
be just a couple of inches short.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Well again tonight, if you are wondering what is happening
around not only the SVC, but uh southern Ohio, you

Here on ninety four Country w KKJ and on Buckeye
Country one oh five point five. Looks like we're gonna
get this measurement here and they are gonna give him
a first down, so enough to get that first down
(01:10:14):
and uh, Wes holl will continue their drive here on
the forty two yard line. And that was just barely
a first down. That was a really really close one there.
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
So uh now Wesviell's gonna have about four forty three
uh here to go in the second quarter, and they're
gonna have a first down right here about midfield. Fans,
tonight's game will be available for a replay starting tomorrow morning.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Every is lined up. He's gonna take the snap. He's
gonna fake the handoff. He loses his footing there, but
it regains it bounces it outside and fine taken down
right about the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
Well, he broke probably two or three tackles there, was
able to scurry away.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
But really good job by.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
Carson McNeil there again, just to trip him up and
get him for about no game.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
But Westfall really wanted to throw the ball right there.
Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
They did a really really good job with their defensive
backs take every opson away so Everly did.
Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
A good job just taking them off and run. Had
some initial pressure there. Almost as soon as he faked
that handoff and turned around, there was somebody in his face,
which disrupted the timing for the entire play. But Westfall's
looking to the sideline here. The play clock is down
to five seconds. They're gonna have to get this off
in a hurry, and now they're going to take a
(01:11:44):
time out. So not able to get the playoffs in time,
and they'll take a time out. Ninety four Country is
not the only place to hear tonight's action. iHeartRadio Sports
springs you four games each week across the region on
our family radio stations here in southern Ohio. For a
schedule and links to listen to the games on the
(01:12:05):
I on the free iHeartRadio app. The high school sports
coverage on w KKJ dot com. Well, west Fall takes
the time out here, we're going to see what kind
of adjustment they make as they come back out for
about a second. Nine play Trey, What you know, this
(01:12:31):
game started so fast in terms of offense and scoring
and then really since then it's kind of been a stalemate.
What what what each What does each team need to
do to kind of break open some things offensively?
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Yeah, I think for Westfall, they're doing a really good
job just keeping Joey right involved and getting them in
the running game. But I think everly they're they're opening
up some holes for him. Just more quarterback designed runs,
Uh would be able to just get those chunk plays back.
So Huntington can't focus on a certain part of their offense.
And for Huntington, they've kind of been backed up for
most of the time just having to able to get
(01:13:04):
anything going. So what they really want to do is
just get out of this half only down one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Yeah, well, the big thanks to the to the Huntington
people here and to Bud Lyttle for bringing us some food.
An officials time out. It looks like one of the lights, Yeah,
that's on the on the stansion here is blinking. So
(01:13:31):
I almost have a strobe like effect out here on
the field.
Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
Yeah, it's like you can see it on the field
where it's just making that that strobe like effect. So
it's definitely that's right where hunting or where Westwall's taking
the snap on those.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
So it's definitely effected in the area. I'm not sure
how easy to fix that either. That's gonna be tough
to get up there. Yeah, where's where's Craig at I
need he needs to get on that. So I'm not
sure how to fix that. Well, you know, at this point,
you just turn on some dance music and let this thing, uh,
(01:14:09):
let this thing play out the way you expect. Yeah, yeah,
that's uh, that's not an easy fix. So we're well,
they're gonna try. Yeah, you're gonna turn off all the
lights here and see what happens. Well, it looks like
(01:14:31):
it looks like we fix the problem. No longer have
a stroke light going on. Yeah. I just needed a
quick reset there, and I think it was fine. So
all right, So to reset where we are in the game.
There is three thirty eight left in this second quarter.
West Fall is up seven to six. They are on
their own forty three yard line. It's second and nine,
(01:14:53):
and that's where we will resume play. West offense comes
back out onto the field. We've got three split out
to the left, one split out to the right. Beverly
is in the shotgun with Joey right next to him.
He's gonna hand off to Joey. Right, Joey has all
(01:15:15):
kinds of space up the middle. He's gonna break it
and oh man, all the way down to the thirty
two yard line of Huntington. Again, I couldn't tell exactly
what was, but one of the Huntington defenders he'll just
got run over by Joey, right, yeah, I mean he
got running it ran over, but he saved as heads
is one now west One is gonna go fast and
(01:15:37):
really pick up the pace and probably give it right
back to Joey Wright. Beverly takes the snap. It's gonna
be a design run for him, and there is nowhere
to go to Huntington defenders both with the last name
of him.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
Yeah, I think that was Ruth McNeil's there. It's a
really good job that they just beat the west Fall aunts.
It's the line and or I don't even know if
youybody brought them and they just swallowed up.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
I've probably there for a two los yard loss. Those
two are so goold at beating the man trying to
block them and getting into the backfield. So we've got
a second and twelve here from the thirty three the
Huntington thirty three yard line. West Fall lines up, Everlee
(01:16:21):
in the shotgun send some motion there, but they're gonna
hand it off to Joey Wright, who's gonna again bring
drag some tacklers with him, fall forward and pick him
up about eight.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
Or nine yards on that run, there's that misdirection that
west Fall is known for where they had a guy
run kind of looked like he was gonna get a
jet sweep one of the wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
Just that fake pitch to him.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
Yeah, I think it just caught Huntington's linebackers moving a
little bit, just opened up a little bit for Joey Wright,
and you finished the run for about eight yards.
Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
So we've got thirty three on the Huntington twenty five
yard line here, two to five left in the sea quarter.
Westfall wants to use up as much of this clock
as they can. Everly takes a snap. He's gonna hand
it off, and immediately Joey Wright is met by a
host of Huntsmen.
Speaker 16 (01:17:14):
But there is a flag on the plane.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
I'm I'm not sure what this was going to be,
but I'm not either. It does look like the west
Fall players are moving backwards as if they know it's
on them.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
And Phipps got right in there through the offensive line.
There was nothing for Right to be able to do there.
So we'll wait to hear from the officials what the
call is. It's like a dead.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Ballstable, so that's gonna move them back. Just a costly
penalty there. Again. West Fall was moving with the run
and then these last few players where they go h
one negative run and then now they got this penalty,
it's gonna back them up to midfield. Yeah, it's gonna
bring up about a fourth and twenty two situation now.
Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
And that was after the play, so that down counted there.
So just a really really tough penalty. The Carson Deskins
will line up to punt. Nichols need to return Dalton.
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
Nichols will line up to return for Huntington. Deskins takes
the snap, a low line drive kick there. It's gonna
roll down to the Huntington six yard line. So once again,
Huntington is gonna start with some some tough, tough field
(01:18:47):
position tray. Yeah, that's the third time here.
Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Maybe this quarter they're gonna start inside their ten yard line. Here,
Huntington a minute, it's twenty five here, you don't have
much to do. I know, uh, hirsh is a really
good throw of the football, but you know you're into
the zone, only down one against west Fall, you might
as well just get out to the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
Yeah, Westfall does have a two time outs left, so
if Huntington just lines up to run it, it could
uh they could use those timeouts all right. So Frankie
Hirsch will line up in the pistol takes a snap
of design run for him to the right. He's gonna
cut it back up the middle, find some space and
(01:19:30):
is gonna pick up.
Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
Looks like enough for Yeah, we're gonna see that changes
on Nixon's mind. Here a little bit of a ten
yard run. See if they can get thanks going in fast,
and they're.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Going they're going in the hurry up here and Hirsh
is gonna run the exact same play designed quarterback run
to the right. He is going to be tackled in
mounds after a game of about five. Huntington's gonna hustle
back to the line. Who's scrimmage. Actually, it looks like
(01:20:02):
they're gonna be going to uh huddle up real quick,
gonna break the huddle, get back up to the line.
I'd like to see him take a shot here, Trey. Yeah,
second short, forty five seconds left. Let's see the roll
out to the left. Hersh sees what's in front of them.
Nice completed pass there, but we've got a penalty flag
(01:20:24):
that comes in and.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Looks like it's gonna be on Huntington with a labe
of lineman down field. Just just got out there a
little bit far and the right til the raft and
he's gonna throw the flag at the time.
Speaker 16 (01:20:38):
Twenty increase and Humphrey with Thursday flag on the play.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
We await the officials were to see what it's going
to be here, and it's gonna be a whole lot. Well,
that probably changes the equation here, Trey. I think probably
at this point you're going to have You're gonna have
second and fourteen on your own probably ten twelve yard
(01:21:08):
line with thirty six seconds left. I think at this
point you probably just try to end the half and
uh move the halftime.
Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
Yeah, I think Huntington's is gonna keep it with hersh
here and trying to get to maybe a chunk play
with a run the second blockers.
Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
So we're to see how Huntington plays this. Hirsch takes
a snap, he is gonna drop back to pass, He's
gonna throw it deep, and it is picked off by
Quinn Everley at the forty five yard line. So with
second left, we'll take over on the Huntington forty five.
Speaker 16 (01:21:44):
Following the interceptions world pick.
Speaker 2 (01:21:47):
It was seventeen seconds left. Not the worst thing in
the world. Where Hirst kind of throws it and really
ends up wearing punt.
Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
What was gonna be so, uh, we'll see if Westwall
airs it out with seventeen seconds left, but getting the
ball at half, I wouldn't see them try to be
too aggressive here.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
Yeah, maybe a screenplay or something like that where a
little safer than throwing it all the way down the field.
But give yourself a chance to maybe break one here.
Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Yeah, they're gonna line Joey right outside here, so maybe
get him ball with a screenplay.
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Everly alone in the backfield, takes the snap. He is
gonna look down the screenplay to Joey right up the middle.
Joey Wright's gonna take it down to the twenty yard line.
I expect west Fall to take a time out here
nine seconds left. West Fall does indeed take a time out.
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Yeah, it was just a weird book that Joey Wright
was out right there, so you knew something was up
with him that they're gonna get hit the ball. Well
kind of got away with the legal lineman downfield there,
but it's still gonna work for game about twenty. Now
you got nine seconds left, you can maybe take a
shot at the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
Yeah, absolutely, with one time out left now, west Fall,
they will take this snap at the Huntington twenty two
yard line, and both the coaches have the team surrounding
them going over what they want here from their groups, and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
I believe west Fall still has one more time out,
So with nine seconds left, they could take, you know,
a chance that maybe a quick pass or maybe a
quick run to get about five to ten more yards
closer and still be able to take one shot at
the end zone. Kind of opens up your playbook a
little bit more if you're closer to the end zone,
especially on the end of a half.
Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
It does fans. Just a reminder again, tonight's game will
be available for replay starting tomorrow morning. CLICKWKKJ dot com
and look for our podcast page or search for WKKJ
on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you listen to podcasts.
So again, nine seconds left, west Fall with the football
(01:23:57):
on Huntington's twenty two yard line. Wheneverly will line up
in the shotgun with Joey Wright on one side and
Eli right on the other. Eli Wright goes into motion.
They're going to throw a little backward pass. He's going
to throw it to the end zone and it is
knocked down or was it picked my Frankie Hirsch with
(01:24:19):
a pick in the end zone. I think he caught
that one handed.
Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
That was one handed. He went up at high point
of that ball and he caught that one handle. Won
a player by Frankie in.
Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
Twelve Frankie Hirsch Huts will take over first intendant thrown
twenty yard line. Well, that is his second pick of
the game. But that is a that's a sports center
right right there. That was impressive athletic displayed by Frankie Hirsch.
Now I think we're gonna see with one second left,
I think we're gonna see Huntington down this football and
(01:24:57):
you know they're going to line up in that kind
of formation. Frankie Hirsh we'll take the snap and down
the football. So that is going to end the half.
Westfall with a seven to sixth lead.

Speaker 43 (01:25:56):
I think that for the sake of the fact that
I know people want to hear those songs, you should
go back to those places emotionally and kind of channel
what you were feeling when you originally wrote it. So
you kind of have to plug into channeling and old emotion,
which is just kind of the same thing that actors
do when they're on camera.

It's great to have you on board here at halftime.

from the OHSAA and he is the director of officiating
and the football administrator.
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Bo, thanks for taking time for us.
Speaker 26 (01:28:17):
Happy to be here, Todd, Well, first thing, I.
Speaker 44 (01:28:19):
Want to talk about a couple of rather strange occurrences
in high school football games from games that I saw
or guys that I know saw, that we don't see
very often in high school football. A few weeks back,
the Saint Mary's Rough Riders pulled off the old free kick.
Many people, I'm sure unaware of this, but you can
(01:28:40):
take an uncontested field goal kick from off of a
tee with no defense off a so called free kick.
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
How does this work?
Speaker 26 (01:28:51):
Yeah, it's after a fair catch. The team has the
option of snapping the ball anywhere between the inbounds lines
inbound lines for us of the hash marks, by the way,
anywhere between the hash marks or having a free kick
(01:29:12):
anywhere between the hash marks, which if it goes to
the goalpost, counts.
Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
As three points.
Speaker 26 (01:29:17):
So if they choose the free kick, you're lined up
just like you are on a kickoff. The defense is
ten yards back and all that kind of stuff, and
you just and you kick it. And it's a really
smart play for people to know the rule. And that's
a fun one that I never, over thirty years of officiating,
(01:29:37):
got to witness firsthand, but it's a good one.
Speaker 44 (01:29:41):
I didn't see it firsthand, but being in the western
Ohio area around where Saint Mary's is, I saw it
on my social media feed all that night, and I
was familiar with that rule from seeing it in the
NFL years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
But apparently the high school rule is the same.
Speaker 44 (01:29:56):
But you know, bo that leads me to another subject
that I find a little bit I don't want to
say dismaying, but the kick rules, the special team rules
are really very wonky. Has there ever been thought about
streamlining that whole thing like a free kick? Why should
that even be in there? I mean, that seems like
a relic from the nineteen tens. There's other kids always
(01:30:17):
get confused as to whether it should be a touchback
or when you touch a punt and stuff like this.
Has there ever been any real push to sort of streamlize,
streamline and simplify the kick and punt rules.
Speaker 26 (01:30:31):
Yeah, you know, a lot of them are the same
at all levels. It's the higher levels you can have
a lot of different exceptions because you've got a concise
group of officials and teams for that matter, that you
have to inform and train of. What that's about. The
(01:30:56):
difference in high school is you have a broad number
of teams is and a very broad number of officials
and levels that that you have to get all get
on the same page. So keeping things kind of in
in big buckets is better in uh, in the high
school game. The fair catch situation, it's it's a simple
(01:31:20):
situation of I have a fair catch. These are the
things I can do.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
If a fair catch.
Speaker 26 (01:31:27):
In in kicking like shrimmage kicks on a punt, there's
certain things that happen if if it's still defined as
a kick, and it doesn't stop being defined as a
kick until possession. So the big one is I touched
the kick and then it goes into the end zone,
it's a touchback. Why it's still defined as a kick
(01:31:50):
until I possess it. So once the kick goes into
the end zone in high school, it's it's a touchback
and uh where Whereas in higher levels you have if
it's touched and then goes in, if it touches in
without being touched, and you have twelve different exceptions to
(01:32:10):
it that it's very hard for a broad group to get.
That's basically the long and the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:17):
Short of it.
Speaker 44 (01:32:18):
Yeah, you know, the real I've always wanted to change
bow is the one where a guy punts the ball
and it bounces around thirteen times and cliffs the back
of somebody's heel and now the punt team gets to
recover it. I'd like to see that rule morphed changed,
but that's for another time. We're talking with bout Rugg,
the officiating coordinator, and another play we saw was an
(01:32:41):
illegal touch first play of the game, a wide receiver
goes downfield, a post rout catches a forty yard pass,
and then we get the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:48):
Illegal touching penalty.
Speaker 44 (01:32:50):
Now, usually that's because they've balls thrown into alignment or something,
but we went down a halftime and found out that
receiver was covered up in other words, that had been
the result of an illegal formation, perhaps they should signal
both penalties.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
Bo.
Speaker 26 (01:33:07):
Yeah, the issue there is is that's not an illegal
formation until it makes that player ineligible. And it used
to be that that touching of that ball down field
was offensive pass interference if you're eligible, but it was
changed with illegal touching, which is a much better, more fitting, uh,
(01:33:31):
situation that just gives you the loss of downs. But yeah,
the trouble with that is, obviously is for everybody else
other than the coaches and players and officials on the field,
nobody knows why person eligible exactly. And that's the that's
(01:33:51):
the tough thing about it is is if you have
a microphone, it's great, Uh, it's illegal touching because number
eight eight was covered up and was ineligible, right, and
everybody knows. Yeah, when you don't have that, nobody knows.
Speaker 44 (01:34:06):
A lot of places are giving the officials microphones now
and that, and that can't help in that situation for sure.
But well, that does bring up the subject of, you know,
when you are training your officials and such, the way
they signal penalties and the way they adjudicate things can
be very helpful to them as far as explaining to fans,
(01:34:27):
even if they don't have a microphone at least to
the best they can with those signals. The better you
are with that, the easier it is for everybody in
the building to understand.
Speaker 26 (01:34:37):
Right, it sure is. I mean, signals are really really important.
And you know, we've we've had to push signals a
little harder of late, basically because all the officials have
by their own radios now and they have the O
two o's and they're they're talking a lot. And what
we try to uh enforce is the fact that that's
(01:35:00):
nice that you're communicating with each other and you know
what's going on, but nobody else does. So the signals
are the ones that help us communicate with everybody else.
And with sinceificating of time, we've told people, you know,
take some time and look at yourself in the mirror
as you're signaling, because how you signal and how clear
(01:35:20):
you are it is really a great aid to everybody
in the environment.
Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
No doubt about it. That's a great point. Bo.
Speaker 44 (01:35:28):
And let's turn to officiating and recruiting of officials, a
ongoing problem for sports at all levels, and the OHSAA
has been really pushing this for years, specifically with football,
and then if you want to address sports overall, for
you guys, recruiting of officials. Have we seen some improvement lately?
(01:35:49):
How would you characterize that?
Speaker 26 (01:35:51):
Yeah, you know, our wrong numbers are really good since
we've gone online with our officiating courses. We have over
two hundred schools that are offering officiating as part of
their curricula. So our exposure and raw numbers are great.
The difficulty is getting someone from taking that and then
(01:36:12):
going through some training and actually getting on the field, court, pool,
diamond is what.
Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
The challenge is.
Speaker 26 (01:36:22):
And and that really is that burden is on our
local associations to assist in that because they are the
ones that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
Do the training and help and those syp of things.
So what.
Speaker 26 (01:36:37):
We have done really in the last couple of years
is we've always offered some clinics from the state level,
but we really need local associations to do everything from
you know, I never went to a scrimmage when I
was officiating with less than ten people, because you treat
it as a mini clinic. We have to have more
of that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
We've offered some funding.
Speaker 26 (01:36:58):
We've probably spent over thirty five thousand dollars this year
with local associations helping them put on clinics and things,
and so that's really the challenge and we've seen much
much more success and we want to build on that.
And it's a process, not a destination, so we're just
(01:37:19):
pushing forward.
Speaker 44 (01:37:21):
That's Bo Rug with the OHSAA. He is the director
of Officiating football administrator. Of course, if you're interested in
becoming an official, go to OHSAA dot org and then
you can click on the officiating tab and get the
process started.
Speaker 2 (01:37:35):

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
You are more than welcome.
Speaker 26 (01:37:41):
Tod, thanks for everything you do well.
Speaker 44 (01:37:42):
Hopefully we can continue to recruit more guys to get
into officiating. High school football need more all the time.

Hometown high school football coverage continues. Today's game is presented
by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing on ninety four country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Well, welcome back to Huntington High School, where the Westfall
Mustang's hold a narrow seven to six lead over the Huntsman.
This is the Audio Technica halftime report on ninety four
Countries KKJ. We are joined by a special, very special
guest Tonight, Tucker Taylor, Huntington senior golfer has made it
(01:41:11):
to the state tournament and you will play Monday and
Tuesday at North Star Golf Course. Tucker, congratulations on on
such a fine accomplishment. Thank you, thank you, thank you
for having me. Yeah, absolutely so, you know this is
this is the first time you've made it to the
state tournament. Talk about how special it is in your
senior year to have the opportunity to go play there. Oh,
(01:41:32):
it's it's really special.
Speaker 38 (01:41:33):
It's the one thing I set out to strive for
at the beginning of the season was to make it
to the state tournament. It was a big golf mine
last year, but wasn't able to get done towards the
end of the year. But being able to do my
senior year is definitely, really really special. It's just all
the work I was able to play it over the
off season and then heading into the start of this year.
(01:41:54):
Just being able to grind it out and finally make
it this year really really special.
Speaker 2 (01:41:59):
It's awesome. So golf is a is such a mental game.
When you go into a big event like this, How
do you deal with the nerves that that you just
naturally feel in this kind of environment. You try your
best to turn them out. They're always there regardless.
Speaker 38 (01:42:14):
It's almost as possible to completely blank everything out. But
the most you can do is just focus on yourself,
try not to worry about anybody else's playing, and just
play your own game and trust the process and the
lawd's gonna do what the word's gonna do, and that's
how it's gonna work.
Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
Yeah, awesome, kind of going off what you said that,
I was at the district tournament where you're able to
qualify and go to the state tournament. So what golf
does do now They do the electronic scoring so you
can see the up to date scoring is, Hey, I
gotta I gotta shoot this, I gotta bury this whole.
Oh crap, I just boge because I'm down one. But
the guy a couple questions, Were you looking at that
because it was close down the stretch, Were you looking
(01:42:50):
at the other guys in that in that score book?
And what's your mindset there? Do you try not to
look at it? But if you do, know like, hey,
I'm down, I saw you boging couple holes, so maybe
you looked at it though you're like, hey, do you
press and try and get that birdie?
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Or you just kind of keep going and studying the course.
So it's actually surprising.
Speaker 38 (01:43:08):
That was one of the first notches I've ever played
where I didn't look at the leaderboard a single time.
Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
It was the main thing I was going into looking
at it.
Speaker 38 (01:43:14):
Just try not to look at the leaderboard and just
trust your own game, because I'll usually if I do
look at the leaderboard and see, oh, I'm a couple
of shots back, I'll try to push the issue and
try to take a shot here that probably wouldn't work
every time. But that was the biggest thing, was just
focusing on my game, knowing that if I trusted myself
well enough that it would happen. And that was the
biggest thing that was able to happen, was just being
(01:43:36):
able to stay not look at the leaderboard and just
trust my own game and it worked out.
Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
And looking forward to Monday, I know you got a
practice around on Sunday. How are you feeling going into
a tough course at North Store that you don't really
get to play ever because it is a private course.
So how are you feeling and how's your swing?
Speaker 2 (01:43:52):
I feel pretty good.
Speaker 38 (01:43:54):
Just the nerves of being able to go out to
a new course, especially with it being the state championship,
there's definitely something that's it's gona be hard, but swing
feels good.
Speaker 2 (01:44:04):
I feel like I've got all everything that I need.
Speaker 38 (01:44:08):
Feel pretty good going into it, and I'm pretty confident
going into the Take.
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
Awesome Book, The Tucker, congratulations on making it. I know
your school is gonna be pulling for you, but not
only that, the entire SBC is gonna be rooting you on.
We're gonna bring your coach in here real quick. You
can give him the headset a Huntington coach, Keith Green.
He's gonna join us here. Coach, talk about how special
(01:44:33):
it's been for you to be along for the ride
with Tucker here. It's been it's been four years.
Speaker 4 (01:44:40):
You know, a freshman and you know he's made district
three years, he's a SVC three years, and then this
year to get where he's at and see what he's
done to get there, it's been really special for this.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
I think one of the things in coaching that goes
overlooked sometimes is sometimes you come across the kid that
you know is just different, right, he has a different
set of abilities. You know, Tucker, I've known him for
five minutes and I already know he's an enjoyable kid
to be around. Talk about what it's what it's meant
to build that relationship with him and see him putting
(01:45:16):
all this hard work to then go accomplish the dream
that he set out to accomplish.
Speaker 4 (01:45:20):
Yeah, when I first met him, you know, as a freshman,
when he came out and he struggled a little bit,
and then scores weren't what he wanted him to be
or what he thought they should be.
Speaker 2 (01:45:28):
And you know, each year he got better.
Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
The big thing about Tuck was watching him learn the
game and played well, and that became the way we communicated,
you know.
Speaker 26 (01:45:43):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
Now, you know, I look at his feet and I
don't have to say much other than check your feet.
Speaker 4 (01:45:48):
And just because he's such a student of the game.
He's learned his swing, he's learned the way the ball spins.
He you know, his work ethic and around that's but
been really special.
Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
Yeah, awesome. Well, congratulations to both of you. We'll be
cheering you on and good luck on Monday. To thank
you very much. Thanks guys. Well, we're going to take
a break. This is the Audio Technica halftime report on
ninety four Country WKKJ.

by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing on ninety four Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (01:47:28):
Welcome back to the Audio Technica halftime Report on ninety
four Country WKKJ. Trey give us a few quick stats. Yeah,
start out for Westwall.
Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
They're led by Joey Wright, who has sixteen carries for
one hundred and fifty eight yards. Eli Wright has five
cares for nineteen yards and that touchdown, and Everley has
seven carris or twenty one yards.
Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
Not watching the air.
Speaker 3 (01:47:49):
One for four for Everly with twenty yards and those
two interceptions, both that were picked off by the quarterback
from Huntington.
Speaker 2 (01:47:57):
And Frankie Hirsch for.
Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
Rushing Isaac Taymor four carries for eight yards, Frankie Hirst
five carries for twenty six yards. Evan Thomas four carries
for fourteen yards and hearst in the air. Still not
much through the air one for five for seven yards
and one interception, and that one catch was made by
DJ Cooper or CJ Cooper. I apologize number eight. We
(01:48:23):
don't have him listed there, so.
Speaker 2 (01:48:24):
All right when we come back the second half. This
has been the audio technical halftime report on ninety four

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
Welcome back to the third quarter. Huntington kicks off, Queneverly
picks up the squib kick and they Westfall will start
the drive at their own twenty six yard on here
starting the third quarter. This third quarter is brought to
you by Chilihockey til Over fans You can check out
scores tonight on the Mill City Apparel school board on
(01:50:01):
ninety four gw KKJ dot com. Just a few to
pass along scores that were at the half piked in
up twenty to seven over a Dina Unioda was up
forty nine to six over Paint Valley in the second quarter,
and Zane Trace up forty one to nothing over Southeastern
at halftime. West Fall will start this first drive of
(01:50:22):
the third quarter. Every gets the snap, drops back and
then runs forward. He's gonna pick up three yards or so.
So second west Fall looking to try to add to
this seven to six lead. Here, Trey, Yeah, there's a
little bit more misdirection with that run. Again.
Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
They had that jet sweep motion just faking it off
the wide receiver and then Everly got about three yards there.
So let's see if west folkan build off that first
drive that they had of the game where they just
took it right down the field.
Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Everly in the shotgun all by himself, three a wide
left to wide right. Everyone looks to the sideline for
the play. Every quick throw out to number twenty three
for west Fall. He's gonna pick up about ten yards
on that play. That's Sparks with for the first down.
Speaker 3 (01:51:12):
Yeah, just a nice quick throw right there by Everley
and uh, uh sorry, who was that?
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:51:18):
Sparks was able just to take that that ball run
for about ten yards and now West fall back to
the line.
Speaker 2 (01:51:23):
Right back to it. Every gonna take the snap direct
run up the middle. He's gonna get a couple on
that before he's brought down. And what you're doing with Wessall.
Speaker 3 (01:51:32):
That last play was an empty set, so Everly was
in the backfield by himself. This next play he was
also empty, so Wessall maybe even expecting pass him. He
just takes off right there. So just a couple of
different plays off the.
Speaker 2 (01:51:43):
Same lak West fall second and seven from their own
forty one here, nursing the seven to six lead that
both touchdowns came as a result of early first quarter plays.
Everly takes a snap. He's gonna hand off to Joey Wright.
(01:52:06):
I'm sorry, Eli, right, and he's gonna power his way
forward for another two yards. So we're gonna have about
thirty five here, maybe third and four.
Speaker 3 (01:52:16):
Yeah, we haven't had any scoring since that first quarter.
It was about seven minutes left to go in that
first quarter. Yeah, it's been a while since we've seen
a score. The way it started off, it was like,
oh boy, we better buckle up. This is gonna be
a scoring fest. But that has not been the case.
West Fall breaks the huddle again, empty backfield here for
(01:52:38):
the Mustangs. Beverly takes the snap. He's gonna drop back
and he's gonna throw it out to.
Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
Number twenty three, Landing sparks again and he's gonna be
brought down about three yards short of the first down.
Looks like West is gonna bring the puff team back out.
Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
Yeah, it looks like that was supposed to be like
almost like a slant and go, and they wanted the
guy that was deep. But we Huntington had a really
good job with coverage there. And now Westll's got a
punt here, but the fourth and short right here at midfield.
Speaker 2 (01:53:14):
Of course, descouts back to punt, must Calvin Hirsch back
to receive. Coaches are yelling out at the that's been
not to jump off sides. Oh fumbles. The snap still
gets off a punt, but it's gonna go just a
few yards and Huntington is gonna fall on the football
(01:53:37):
at the UH at their own forty five yard line.
So for the first time, one of the first times
tonight they're gonna have good field position. Yeah, I think
you're right. And it's the first time they're gonna have
it outside.
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
The twenty yard line at least, because they've been just
stuck in their own zone there. But uh, Westfall, that
was almost a disaster play. I know they got only
about ten yards out of that punt, and he.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
They could have its a good job, absolutely so, Huntington
first and ten on their own forty four yard line,
eight fifty three left in the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:54:14):
Late in that first that they really had success with
hirsh keeping the ball and running.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
So let's see if they keep that up. Going to
hand off to Isaac Taylor here, he's gonna fight forward
for about four yards on that play.
Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
Haven't everyone from Taylor in this game? And that's only
a s fifth carry of the night. And really give
that the credit to Westlaw not getting Hunton in any
good position.
Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
And they really haven't had that many offensive snaps. Yeah,
they haven't had a whole lot offensive snaps, and there's
just no room to run there up the middle. Huntington
back up to the line hirsh and the pistol. He's
gonna hand off again to Taylor. Taylor is going to
break a few tackles and get the first down. A
tough run there by, I'm sorry, that was Evan Thomas.
(01:55:01):
Evin Thomas Cary and I think he had the last
carry as well.
Speaker 3 (01:55:06):
Oh okay, so yeah, it was both Evan Thomas there. Still,
he only had four carries there in the first half.
So you know, starting off, Huntingson's really trying to get
their running backs going.
Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
He took about three different hits on that play before
getting the first down. Hush gonna hand off to Taylor.
Taylor with some space up the middle, and they're gonna
pick up about five. So the Huntington offensive line here
finally starting to create some traction for this offense. Yeah,
and that's just Huntington's game plan now.
Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
It's like, hey, we're gonna beat you out front now
with our running backs to see if you can stop them.
And Huntington's really been in the like passing downs or
long situations where they had to keep it with her, so, uh,
you know a little bit different.
Speaker 2 (01:55:47):
Look now back at it here, Hush takes the snap,
going to hand off to Taylor. Taylor nowhere to go
that time. A really nice play by Joey right there
on that tack. Cool.
Speaker 3 (01:56:01):
Yeah, he had room and pass right, but right just
wrap him up right there in the ankles and about
no game there, Isaac Taylor.
Speaker 2 (01:56:09):
I'm glad you brought that up. I feel like I
watched so many games on Saturdays and Sundays where everyone's
just trying to hit people and nobody wraps up. That
was a textbook job of wrapping up and tackling by
Joey Wright Huntington. Third and four. Here, Hirsch takes the snap.
He's gonna fake to Taylor, He's gonna roll out to
his left. He finds me neil wide open over the middle,
(01:56:31):
and McNeil slides as he makes the catch for a
gain of about fifteen yards there for Huntington and a
first down.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
Just a really nice play design by Huntington, able to
get h McNeil wide open there in the center of
the field and Frankie Hirsh good job. He progressed through
his reads. That was not his first free He wanted
on the sideline there. He wanted to a deep play.
He came back towards the middle just a great throw
right in the chest.
Speaker 2 (01:56:57):
So Huntington will have first and ten on the Westfold
twenty seven yard line. Hirsch takes the snap, gonna hand
off to Thomas, I believe again Thomas with about four
yards up the middle, right on the shop.
Speaker 3 (01:57:14):
And part of the reason that Huntington's able to get
those wide open looks in the passing game is because
they're setting up with the running game and and west
Falls just really looking in the backfield and and biting
for some of these fakes.
Speaker 2 (01:57:24):
So, uh, I like what west Fall's doing there, or no,
what hunting is doing. They're just going ground and pound. Yeah.
So Huntington with probably its most sustained drive of the
game so far. McNeil in motion. Hirsh takes the snap,
gonna hand off to Thomas again and again, another another
(01:57:44):
four or five yards there. It's gonna bring up third
and short. This offensive line is really starting to get
going here, Trey.
Speaker 3 (01:57:52):
Yeah, and coming or in the first half, Huntington had
fifty eight yards of total offense and now they've gotten
around forty already on this drive.
Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
So it's just easily the best drive of the game
for Huntington. Five thirty one left here in this third quarter,
west Fall with a seven to six lead here at Huntington.
Huntington though, driving third and two, Persch takes the snap.
He's gonna hand off to Thomas. He's gonna fall forward enough,
I think to get the first down.
Speaker 16 (01:58:23):
Humphrey stop.
Speaker 2 (01:58:26):
We could have ourselves another measurement here, but they're gonna
get the first down. Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
And for this drive, I know the running backs are
doing a lot of the work, but Huntington's offensive line
is really winning at the line of scrimmage and they're
they're pushing west Fall's defensive line one to two yards.
Speaker 2 (01:58:44):
It's better reversal of the first half. Yep. Push back
in the shotgun. It's gonna take the snap, hand off
to Isaac Taylor. Isaac Taylor gonna fight his way through
the line. We're gonna pick up about three on that play.
A west Fall player lost his helmet there, so he's
gonna have to come out of the game for a
play number seven seventy two.
Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
If your west Fall and you're just constantly giving up
these three, four or five yard runs, it really starts
to take a toll on you, and it just it
takes away all that does momentum that you had.
Speaker 2 (01:59:19):
In the game just drained your energy. Yeah, it can
be demoralizing. Huntington two to the right, persch in the pistol,
Isaac Taylor behind him, hand off to Isaac Taylor makes
a spin move up the middle and it's gonna be
close to a first down. He looked like he's gonna
get down after about two yards and spun out of it. Tray. Yeah,
(01:59:40):
he did a good job.
Speaker 3 (01:59:40):
He absorbed all that contact from the West Fall defenders,
spun out of it, and then not only that, he
dove forward and kind of just fell forward for another three.
Speaker 2 (01:59:53):
That's some question right now as to whether it is
first down and they're going to give him the first down.
Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
And if you're Huntingdon, you're inside the ten first and goal,
you really need to cash in with a touchdown here.
You don't want to get all the way down here
and not be able to score. That's just gonna shift
all momentum back to West That's.
Speaker 16 (02:00:10):
Gonna have a first and goal at the Mustang seven
yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:00:13):
So first and goal for Huntington from the West Fall
seven four oh six left in this third quarter. Huntington
lined up the same way has been almost every player.
HER's gonna take the snap, He's gonna hand off to Taylor.
Taylor's gonna bounce off a few guys again and almost
get into the end zone. He's gonna be down at
the half yard line. He's doing a real good job.
Speaker 3 (02:00:35):
And once the Westll's getting to him, he's absorbed in
contact and just spinning out of it.
Speaker 2 (02:00:40):
Now, if it ain't broke, just keep going out. If
I'm gonna say the exact same thing, They're not doing
anything creative right now. They're just pounding the football and
Isaac Taylor gets a handoff and is gonna again be
stopped at about the half yard line. Not able to
get in there on second down, So it'll be third
goal from about the half yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:01:02):
Yeah, that was Eli right there for west Fall. I
did a really good job of stuff him right there
at the line of scrimmage. West Fall kind of got
away with a twelfth man on the field there. He
was trying to run out as he was getting stuffed,
but he got close enough to that sideline for No.
Speaker 2 (02:01:17):
FLA three.
Speaker 16 (02:01:17):
You need to move your car immediately.
Speaker 2 (02:01:19):
All right, So third and goal, gonna hand off to Taylor. Again,
Taylor gonna break the tackle and get into the end
zone for a Huntington touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:01:37):
And again there's Isaac Taylor breaking another tackle, making something
out of almost nothing, getting hit in the backfield. And
that's just a huge drive right there for Huntington. Looks
like they're gonna go for two now to make it
a seven point game.
Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
Well again, this is, you know, a situation that can
either hurt you or help you. When when you're gonna
go for two every time because you don't feel a
ton of confidence in the kicking game, I can create
some extra points or puts you in a deficit. So
we'll see what happens here on this two point play.
Huntington's gonna huddle up really impressive drive there by Huntington
(02:02:18):
just physically controlled that that line of scrimmage. Hurst is
gonna be under center. He's gonna fake the flip.
Speaker 16 (02:02:31):
There is a flag on the play.
Speaker 2 (02:02:34):
There is a flag. A sideline is a sideline warning
on the Okay, so that place should stand right.
Speaker 3 (02:02:44):
I believe, unless they're actually calling oh, assisting a player.
So what they tried to do they handed off the
Taylor and they pushed him in to the end zone
for that two point conversion. You can kind of see
I think it was I want to say it was
Herst that once he handed it off, he really got
into the back and pushed Taylor right unto the end.
Speaker 2 (02:03:02):
So now they're gonna attempt the pat from the eight
yard line, so it gonna probably be a pass year.
This is where it gets tough when you have to
go for two. When you end up getting a penalty
and having to score from eight yards out, that limits
the what you can call as a play caller.
Speaker 3 (02:03:26):
We'll see if they are gonna throw it. First looks
for McNeil here. He had that big catch here on
this drive, so he's lined up up top by himself.
Speaker 2 (02:03:36):
Hirsch takes it, rolls out to his right, throws it
and it is incomplete. Oh, I think we might get
a targeting penalty there.
Speaker 38 (02:03:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:03:49):
I think it's like some targeting or unnecessary roughness on
the catch there.
Speaker 16 (02:03:55):
Hersh was fast intended for eight.
Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
L J.
Speaker 16 (02:03:57):
Cooper is a complete However, there's a flag on the play.
Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
L J. Cooper took a shot after a.
Speaker 16 (02:04:04):
Helmet The helmet contact on the mustangs.
Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
All right, so that would be half the distance to
the goal I believe, which should put the ball back
at the forty yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:04:17):
Now, that was a good player call by Huntington. They
had Cooper open there, ball just went right through his hands.
It looked like a pretty good throw by hers. So
now we'll do it again, all right, So we will
attempt for the third time. Yeah, this two point conversion
by Huntington. They currently have a twelve to seven lead.
(02:04:38):
I'm gonna go two wide to the left here Evin
Thomas in the backfield behind hersh.
Speaker 2 (02:04:47):
Firsch takes the snapperolls out to his left, doesn't find
anyone and is brought down in the back by west Fall.
So no good on the pat attempt, and we're going
to take a break. This is the accurate heating, cooling
and Plumbing Game of the Week on ninety four Country WKKJ.

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (02:06:15):
Well we're back two fifty eight left in the third quarter,
Huntington with their first lead of the game now at
twelve to seven. They are gonna line up to kick
off here. It's like Everley and Joey Wright are back
deep for the Mustangs and Joey Wright's gonna pick that up.
He fumbles it and is gonna be brought up. He's
(02:06:36):
gonna stay alive for a little while and gets up
to the west Fall twenty six yard line, which is
where west Fall will start this drive.
Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
Really impressive drive by Huntington there. They had, like I said,
fifty eight yards of total offense in the first half.
That was a sixty five yard drive that they just
had to cacked it off with points. You'd like to
have that two point conversion, but again, it's still gonna
put you up two scores.
Speaker 2 (02:06:56):
It's just that one. Well, twelve to seven thirteen plays
on that drive too, So just physically control the line
of scrimmage chap so west Fall will look to drive
and try to regain the lead.
Speaker 3 (02:07:10):
Here looks like after that last play, Joey Wright's gimpy there.
He's like, we're looking at his knee. Let's see if
that affects him here. You don't want to see that.
Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
West Fole takes the snap, Joey Wright gets the handoff
and he's gonna gain about one. So he's gonna have
to come out of the game now.
Speaker 3 (02:07:39):
It's been really impressive with Huntington's defense, the physicality that
they've played with ever since pretty much halfway through the
first quarter and midway through the sorry the second just
really getting after this west offense line.
Speaker 2 (02:07:53):
Well, they're they're not gonna make Joey Wright come off
the field, which I thought was automatic. When the helmet
comes off, you have to them out of the game.
But they're not gonna make him do that. So West
fall second and nine here everally gonna be lined up
in the shotgun. And it looks like West falls on
(02:08:15):
all the time out here, and just.
Speaker 3 (02:08:16):
Took a long time to get that play together. They're
worried about if they had to bring right out from
the helmet coming off. So probably just a weird play
right there, Barney at a time on Already fans.
Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
You can check out all of the scores of tonight's
games on the Mill City Apparel scoreboard on WKKJA dot com.
Just if you scores to pass along in Circleville down
six to three to Fairfield un on the fourth quarter,
Wheelersburg up thirty seven to seven fourth quarter over Waverley.
We've got Chilicothie up twenty eight to ten over Hillsborough
(02:08:52):
in the third quarter, Miami Trace up thirty four to
six on McLean in the third quarter, Zane Tray still
up up to zero on Southeastern, twenty one to seven
over Asena, and the Jackson and Irons then up thirty
to seven at half over Washington Courthouse, and finally Uniodo
(02:09:13):
is still up forty nine to six over Paint Valley.
So West fall again, second nine. We'll try to get
something going offensively here and send to Eli Wright in
motion and trying to get a screen passed there. But
there was nothing happening, and Huntington hit the quarterback and
(02:09:36):
all you could do, all ever he could do is
throw it away Tray. I didn't see a receiver there.
Look like intitional browning to me.
Speaker 3 (02:09:42):
Yeah, Huntington didn't give him any chance to everly any
chance to find a receiver there. And if you're westlall,
this is not what you want. You don't want to
be in these starting lungs. When you got that you
really want to run the ball. Now you're in a
passing down where if you don't, you're gonna don't get
a first down here, You're gonna give the ball back
to Huntington, who just seemingly.
Speaker 2 (02:09:59):
Drove right down the on their last drive. Yeah, it's
been an interesting development that it seems like the line
for Huntington on both sides of the football right now
is winning that last rimitch. So third and nine west
Fall empty backfield. Every back by himself in the shotgun,
drops back to pass, throws it over the middle, and
(02:10:22):
Calvin Hirsch with the pick and is taken down at
the west Fall forties. So Huntington again flips the field
and we'll have the ball in a really good field position.
Speaker 3 (02:10:34):
Just I don't know if a receiver ran the wrong route,
but there was no receiver anywhere near Hirsh right there
with the pick, and that's what three picks, and all
three of them were made by hirschs.
Speaker 2 (02:10:45):
We do have a penalty flag down over on the
far side of the field. I'm not sure what that's about.
I'm not going to try and guess because I've been wrong.
I think four times that night, Biga is declined hunts,
so it looked like maybe a hold there on. I
(02:11:08):
think we went a legal lineman downfield, but that was declined.
So now Huntington will take over on to west Fall
forty one yard line. This could be a big drive
in terms of really taking control of this game track, yeah,
making it a potentially two possession game if anything goes
down to scores here.
Speaker 3 (02:11:26):
And that's just west Fall's office not built like that
to be able to get all them points back.
Speaker 2 (02:11:31):
Hirsh with the handoff to Thomas and Thomas gets stuck
by Joey Wright after he came up. About one really
impressive tackle there again by Joey Wright.
Speaker 3 (02:11:41):
Yeah, like you said, he didn't try and go high,
he went low right there and uh just really took
Was that is that Eli or that was not Taylor?
Speaker 2 (02:11:50):
Was that Evan thom Thomas?
Speaker 3 (02:11:51):
Yep, Yeah, Evan Thomas just took him out low and
was not able to get any any yards after that
initial contact.
Speaker 2 (02:12:00):
We are down to a minute and ten left in
the third quarter. Huntington with second nine on the west
Fall forty. Hirsch takes the snap, gonna hand off to
Evan Thomas again. I'm well, was that no?
Speaker 26 (02:12:14):
That was yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:12:15):
It was Evan yeas zero. He fights his way out
to the thirty yard.
Speaker 26 (02:12:20):
Line and that is gonna be a first down for
the Hunts. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
Randy right off the right tackle there and had just
a whole boxer room and got five six yards down
the field without getting touched by Huntington or west Fall defender.
Speaker 2 (02:12:33):
Really good job by both Evan Thomas and Isaac Taylor.
Of taking that initial contact, not going down on that
contact and fighting for those extra yards right now, first down,
Hirsch takes the snap and Thomas is bottled up, but
again could have been a two yard loss and he
turns it into a yard game there.
Speaker 3 (02:12:53):
Yeah, good play by Mason Holderman or Howerman from West Fall.
He's been in on a couple of few plays tonight,
so he's done really good. But again, Huntington, this is
a really big drive for them to try and get
more points here, and Wessell really needs to step up
make a playoff defense.
Speaker 2 (02:13:11):
Yeah, Huntington probably not going to take another snap here
before the end of the quarter. We have five seconds
left and they are going to let it run out,
so we're going to take a break. This is the
accurate heating, cooling and plumbing game of the Week on

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (02:14:33):
Well, we are back here at Huntington as we start
the fourth quarter, Huntington with a twelve to seven lead
on Westfall. They have the ball on the West Fall
twenty nine yard line and it's second and nine. This
fourth quarter is brought to you by Mill City Apparel Trey.
What do you expect to see from Hunnington here?
Speaker 3 (02:14:53):
More of the same, more the same, just like they
did here in the third quarter. They just grind it out,
runs in between the tackles and we'll see if west
Fall can a justin stop him.
Speaker 2 (02:15:01):
And get him off the field. All right, Hirsch takes
the snap. He is going to hand it off to
Isaac Taylor. He breaks some room, he's down to the ten,
down to the five, and he gets into the end
zone for a touchdown. Taylor a twenty nine. You are
a touchdown run by Isaac Taylor.
Speaker 3 (02:15:22):
Just a great job Isaac Taylor being patient, letting his
blocks get there. Very not trying to go through the
wrong hole, but he waited for the offensive line to
get that hole for him, and he just finished the run,
not only with the power but with the speed to
get thirty yards.
Speaker 2 (02:15:37):
Down the field. Well, that makes it eighteen to seven.
That is Isaac Taylor's third touchdown run of the night.
He's having quite a game Huntington. As we've said, with
Junior McDonald being out with an ankle injury, they are
going to go for two here. Hirsh gonna hand off
to Taylor and Taylor is gonna make his way in. Yeah,
(02:16:02):
he just took that contact that just went two yards forward.
He's just he's running good. And his stat line for
the first half was four carries for eight yards. I
haven't added up how much he has, but it's about
sixty or seventy yards with two touchdowns here in the
second half. So he's just really been that X factor.
And also, let's go in Evan Thomas has has had
(02:16:24):
some really good runs.
Speaker 3 (02:16:25):
He's acted about six or seven yards of carry here
in this second half.
Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
Yeah, Well, fans, tonight's game will be available for a
replay starting tomorrow morning. Clicked w KKJ dot com and
look for our podcast page WKKJ on the iHeartRadio app
or wherever you listen to podcasts. Well, it feels it
kind of feels right now, Trey, Like if you're westlay,
(02:16:49):
you've got to get something done now.
Speaker 3 (02:16:51):
Yeah, and it's you know, eleven fifty left here in
the in the game and you're down two score so
now you've got to score fast. So you either got
to run the really fast paced offense and run the ball,
or you gotta throw the ball. And I know Everley
just hadn't had that, had the ninth thrown the ball,
he's got three picks, So we'll see what West Fall
does here, but uh, any some points fast.
Speaker 2 (02:17:14):
The strobe light is back tray, Ah, yeah it is.
Where's Craig? I just I saw him. They're not stopping play.
They're they're they're gonna power through here. All right, Well,
Huntington is gonna line up to kick again. They have
a twenty to seven lead over Westfall with eleven forty
nine left in the game. Here once again, number fifty
(02:17:42):
four Luke George is lined up to kick. They've got
west Fall back to receive. It's gonna be number five
Quinn Everly and he will just fall on the scoke
kick then right around the twenty.
Speaker 3 (02:18:02):
I want to give credit to the punter and the
kicker for uh they're filling in for Junior McDonald's who's injured,
and they they've had some good kicks and they're not
killing Huntington. They're not making those mistakes that you'd maybe
even think from backup. So they're done a really good
job kicking game, Tony.
Speaker 2 (02:18:19):
If they're doing enough, they're doing they're doing the job
and and it's uh, it's really made a difference I
think for Huntington today. So west Fall in a critical
drive here just to uh almost start the fourth quarter,
Quinneverly will be back in the shotgun, flanked by a
(02:18:40):
right on either side. Eli Wright's gonna go in motion.
They're gonna throw it to him, He's gonna make the catch,
and he's gonna get around to the outside for about
a seven yard game.
Speaker 16 (02:18:52):
Complete.
Speaker 3 (02:18:53):
Hopefully that's a little bit of confidence, confidence there for
ever knowing that he can make those throws and also
forsall game gates of guard by throwing the ball, and
maybe it's gonna open up some Pauls for some trunk
plays here in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:19:06):
Whenever you're running the ball down the middle. We do
have an SVC final. Zane Trace won forty eight to
nothing over Southeastern tonight. Again. You can find all of
those scores on the Mill City Apparels scoreboard on WKKJ
dot com. West Fall breaks the huddle. Whenever we in
(02:19:29):
the shotgun, they're gonna send Eli Wright in motion again.
But Joey Wright's gonna run up the middle. He gets
to the fifty, to the forty five, to the forty,
to the thirty to the twenty, not gonna catch him.
He is gonna be into the end zone with a touchdown.
Joey Right with the sixty nine yard touchdown run for
(02:19:49):
the Mustangs.
Speaker 38 (02:19:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:19:51):
He good job by Wessell's offensive line just opening up
that hole and then Joey Wright doing the rest and
able to finish that run around sixty nine yards almost untouched,
and you got to credit his speed there. Way to
finish that run. And that's if you're Westfall, that's exactly
what you wanted.
Speaker 2 (02:20:07):
Man, that's exactly what the doctor ordered. They had to
score on that drive, and you kind of felt like
they needed to do it quickly. Now they're going to
give themselves a chance to get a stop and and
maybe get the ball back.
Speaker 16 (02:20:19):
What Carson deskinsad for the point.
Speaker 2 (02:20:21):
After Carson Deskins lines up to kick snap hold, it's
up and it's good. So west Fall brings the game
back to within twenty to fourteen and we're going to
take the break. This is the accurate Heat and Cooley

Goodbee, This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety
four Country WKKJA.
Speaker 2 (02:25:52):
Well we're back here. Sorry about the technical difficulty. A
lot has happened while we were here. Yeah, fall after
their last touchdown kicked an onside kick and recovered it.
And then, uh, there was a one one play where
a Hunton player got hurt. That was Casey Mosley. Hopefully
Casey's gonna be okay. And then on the second play
(02:26:14):
of the drive, Quinn Everley just took a forty yard
touchdown run to the house. Yeah, just exactly what you
wanted for Westfall.
Speaker 3 (02:26:24):
I mean drawing up that onside kick and recovery and
then just getting a forty yard touchout run within thirty seconds.
Speaker 2 (02:26:30):
Is as you know, really changed his game just in
the last two minutes. So west Fall will line up
to take the kick, snap pulled, Carson Deeskan's another pat
that's good and west Fall has retaken the lead with
four point fifty two left in this fourth quarter. Wow,
(02:26:53):
what what a spa change that has happened in just
in the last two minutes of the game. You had
west Fall going up or Huntingson going up. Two scores
playing just west Fall the last few players have.
Speaker 3 (02:27:07):
Scored a forty yard touchdown run and a seventy yard
touchdown run and an on site cap recovery.
Speaker 2 (02:27:12):
So just completely flip the script. Yeah, And like you said,
it was in a hurry. You feel like that's a
It did not look good for west Fall the way
the game was going, the way Huntington was dominating the
line of scrimmage. You kind of felt like, if they
don't do something right now, this could be it for them.
And I think that's a credit to just coaching and
(02:27:34):
the league that when things were going absolutely terrible, the
guys didn't quit, they didn't throw in the towel. They
kept fighting. And now they've put themselves in a situation
where they have the lead again with ten fifty two
left in the fourth quorder.
Speaker 3 (02:27:48):
Yeah, and if you're Huntington, you gotta just forget about
those last few drives. Remember whenever you drove down the
field just running the ball and just beating Wes Fall
up front, running in between the tackles.
Speaker 2 (02:27:59):
You got to remember that on this drive because you're
not out of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:28:02):
You've got eleven minutes left, and you can create long
drives a win that you run the ball and get
it down and score with just a few minutes left,
and then your defense make a stop. So if you're Huntington,
you got to just figure out a way to put
that in the back of your mind and just forget about.
Speaker 2 (02:28:15):
It and look forward. West Wall will line up to
kick here, Carson Deskins kicks it along the ground. Huntington
is able to get it and looks like number three
for Huntington. Colt Parker is able to fall on the
(02:28:36):
ball and they will have will start their drive on
their own thirty yard line, and we.
Speaker 3 (02:28:42):
Should give a shout out to Carson Paskin with that
onside kick. It was perfectly done, perfectly executed by him
and recovered by west Fall.
Speaker 2 (02:28:50):
He's had some big that big extra point there to
put him in the lead at twenty one to twenty
So he's really done a good good job here tonight.
Absolutely so Huntington again. Down twenty one to twenty ten,
forty three left in the game. They will start their
drive at their own thirty. Frankie Hirsch will start in
(02:29:11):
the pistol. It's like Evan Thomas lined up behind him.
He's gonna hand off to Thomas. Thomas is gonna break it,
bounce it to the outside, but nowhere to go west Fall.
Gang's up number five, number two, Caden Mercurio with the
tackle there.
Speaker 3 (02:29:33):
Yeah, it looked like Evan Thomas was gonna have a
little bit of an opening there off the left side
of the offensive line. But just a good job at
gang tackling by by west Fall. And if you're Huntington,
don't feel like you need the press. You've got plenty
of time in the way that you have been running
the football. You just can't get too worried about it.
Speaker 2 (02:29:51):
So, uh well, now I think this is an important
time of like how do we respond? Now? West Fall
responded a certain way with all the momentum going against them,
momentums against us. Now, how do we respond Frankie Hurst
with the handoff to is that Evan Thomas again and
he is going to be stopped after a game of
about two.
Speaker 16 (02:30:11):
On the carry sixth jourry right on this out.
Speaker 3 (02:30:13):
And west Fall's known that Evan Thomas and Isaac Taylor
being able to just break their tackles in that time.
They're doing a good job of gang tackling right there.
It kind of looked like you picked him up. He
was like, Hey, you're not going anywhere, so we're gonna
get you down here. Now, this is an interesting down
thirty seven in your own zone. Let's see how Huntington
plays this if we want to keep it on the
(02:30:34):
ground and just play it for two downs.
Speaker 2 (02:30:35):
The body language is completely different on the hunting on
the west Fall side. Right now, Hirst takes the snap,
rolls out to the right, throws it to I believe McNeil,
and he's going to pick up about about seventeen yards
on that pass play and getting a first down. I
believe those Dalton Nichols complete Nichols. Yeah, it was Dalton Nichols.
(02:30:58):
And that was just a really good out by Hirsh.
Speaker 3 (02:31:02):
Just even better route by Nichols, just to get Hi
wide open and Hurst hitting right in the chest and
that that was a really big down right there.
Speaker 2 (02:31:09):
That's an completion. You who knew whether it's gonna go
and you you love that Dalton Nichols was able to
make up for that that pass he dropped early in
the right on the crucial third down there, he brings
it in and then takes the takes another seven or
eight yards before getting taken down. Hursh gonna go to
the right. He's wrapped up again by west Fall. They
(02:31:29):
are swarming to the football right now. Yeah, they really
are there.
Speaker 3 (02:31:34):
It's not just one of them bringing them down. It's
not just one of them making that play. There's three
or four guys. I was just wrapping up the Huntingson
ball carrier and I was for for no gain there
for from Hersh.
Speaker 2 (02:31:45):
So second ten here, Huntington on the on their own
forty eight yard line. We have eight thirty nine left
in the fourth quarter. Huntington breaks the huddle three wide
to the left. Hursh's gonna roll out to his left,
gonna find some space there finds Dualt Nichols on the
(02:32:07):
sideline and he's gonna step out of bounds at about
the thirty nine yard line for a first down.
Speaker 3 (02:32:13):
I want to throw right there by Frankie Hurst instead
of rowing right this time.
Speaker 2 (02:32:17):
This is the first time we've seen hit roll.
Speaker 3 (02:32:19):
Left and throwing that ball on the run as a
right handed thrower and place it that perfectly right there
by a dult Nichols.
Speaker 2 (02:32:26):
Just want to throw what a pitch and catch and
now he got another first down. Well, they you can
tell by their play calling they feel so comfortable with
him rolling out that it gives them a little bit
of advantage because you never know where the pass is
gonna be coming from Huntington perst and ten on the
west fall forty yard line. Hirsch takes the snap. He's
(02:32:47):
gonna hand off to Isaac Taylor. Isaac Taylor bounces it
out to the left. Is gonna pick up about seven
yards on that carry. And what that really there's two
pass completions.
Speaker 3 (02:32:57):
What that does is it opens up holes running backs
and you know there's Isaac Taylor again. Who if Huntingson's
gonna win this game and they've.
Speaker 2 (02:33:05):
Got thirty three yards left here.
Speaker 3 (02:33:08):
To get in the end zone with eight minutes left
on the fourth quarter, He's gonna maybe be a part
of it.
Speaker 2 (02:33:14):
Seven to fifty six left in the game. Hersh hands
off to Isaac Taylor. Isaac Taylor again, you're gonna find
a little bit of space and it looks like he's
gonna have enough for the first down. So another first
down on this time you drive.
Speaker 3 (02:33:27):
Yeah, the last two runs, Huntington or Westfall hasn't done
a good job of game tackling up they have before,
and Isaac Taylor's just been able to finish the runs.
And it's just you know, getting past one west off Fender,
nice little drive the Huntington's going and uh, you know,
taking that time away from west Fall off they do
score and get a chance to go back down and
take the lead.
Speaker 2 (02:33:47):
Well, this Huntington offense has been impressive here in the
second half. They have moved the ball uh steadily and
have not had much trouble. Hersh winds up to take
the snap. He's going to drop back to pass and
tries to find Dults and Nichols on the outside, but
the alls incomplete, so it's gonna be second and ten
(02:34:11):
for the Huntsman.
Speaker 3 (02:34:12):
Yeah, just a little bit of miscommunication. Nichols was trying
to run just a straight route there, almost a post
route to the end zone, but uh, Frankie Hurst wanted
to come back there and just.
Speaker 2 (02:34:23):
A little bit of an underthrow. What a great night
for football, right, Yeah, this is uh, this is what
Friday nights are all about.
Speaker 3 (02:34:34):
I've been leaning out this window and it's kind of cold,
so I'm really glad that we're still in the in
the top here.
Speaker 2 (02:34:39):
And that it looks like it gonna be a false
start on Huntington. So they're gonna move themselves back five
yards and it's gonna be second and fifteen. Not what
you want to see. What's gonna aster, Coach Beeler.
Speaker 3 (02:34:51):
Now like you had that incomplete pass on the first down,
so you stop the clock and now you got this penalty.
It's gonna take you back to about second or second
and fifteen. So again you're you're in these passing downs.
But I really want to see Huntington take the next
two plays to run the ball, Teef. They can get
a couple of chunk plays from Taylor.
Speaker 2 (02:35:10):
Well, it looks like Evan Thomas is gonna be lined
up at the tailback position a couple of feet behind
Frankie Hirsch. Hirsch takes the snap, He's gonna roll out
to his right, scream pass back to McNeil. He's gonna
break a tackle. He's up the sideline, he's up the ten,
(02:35:30):
the five, and touchdown Jackson McNeil a thirty three yard
touchdown reception. Three game. He Huntington lead, and.
Speaker 3 (02:35:42):
That's a new up there, and Huntington has not ran
to play like that before. Everyone was looking to the
right side for that, you know, potential pass to Dalton
Nichols or Carson McNeil. But he threw it on the
uh threw it back to Jackson McNeil on a screen
pass and he had blockers in front of him and
he was on h He actually broke a tackle there
right off the when they taught it.
Speaker 2 (02:36:02):
So we did a really good job there. But the
rest of the way he was on touch of the enzone.
The tackle that he broke was the only tackle that
was going to stop him, and he was not going
to let that happen. So Huntington gonna line up for two.
They have a twenty six to twenty one lead over Westfall.
Now was seven sixteen left going to hand off, and
(02:36:22):
there's a fumble and west Fall is going to fall
on it. So the pat is no good. We've got
a great game going on, or we're going to take
a break. This is the accurate heating, cooling, and plumbing
game of the week on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 33 (02:36:36):

Speaker 2 (02:38:01):
In the game.
Speaker 1 (02:38:02):
This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country w KKJA.
Speaker 2 (02:38:10):
Well we're back. Huntington did kick off. West Fall had
a nice returns actually their own Jordan three yard line,
so that's where they'll take over on first down. Trey's
kind of gut check time. If you're west Fall, you
gotta respond once again.
Speaker 3 (02:38:26):
Yeah, and they've done a good job of it here
in the second half, and I think you really just
stick to what's been working for you here recently is
on that ground game and West Fall's wearing these white
uniforms tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:38:36):
But I don't know if you can see Joey Wright's uniform,
it is like brown. It is not white anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:38:42):
He has he has really put in the work and
he's at almost He's over two hundred and.
Speaker 2 (02:38:47):
Fifty all purposes on both sides of the football too.
Has made several tackles on the defensive side too. So
Quinn Everlely is going to line up in the shotgun,
Joey and Eli Wright line up on each side of him.
Is gonna go in motion. They're gonna fake a pass
to him. Everly's gonna run up the middle. He's gonna
break a tackle, He's gonna be brought down after a
(02:39:07):
game of about eleven yards. So a nice run by
Quinn Everley there to start this drive.
Speaker 3 (02:39:13):
There's that misdirection that we talked about at the top
of the game is uh you know, had that fake
screen pass out there to the left side to uh
to Eli Wright and it just went the other way
when he got about twelve yards.
Speaker 2 (02:39:25):
He really gonna start to this drive. Now you're into
Huntington side of the field once again. West Fall going
to line up in the shotgun, a little pitch out
to Joey right on the left. He's gonna find some
space and he's gonna be brought down after a game
of about seventeen. But it looks like we've got a
(02:39:45):
holding penalty here in the back field, right.
Speaker 3 (02:39:48):
Yeah, it looks like it's gonna come back with the
folding ball. They're just they were really trying to set
the edge right there. But uh uh, it looks like
Joey Wright was able to come free after line backer
got held by Huntings by an offensive line.
Speaker 2 (02:40:02):
They're trying to set that edge. Well, a costly penalty
there for west fall. Again, you're putting yourself ten yards
behind schedule, and as a team that is really going
to run the ball most of the times, that gonna
be tough to overcome. And you really can't panic.
Speaker 3 (02:40:19):
You still got six forty five left here in this
fourth quarter, so you got plenty of time. It's just
now it's gonna be first and twenty, so you got
twenty yards you gotta get here. You know, within these
these four downs.
Speaker 2 (02:40:30):
Wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of screenplay here
in this sequence of place.
Speaker 3 (02:40:36):
At least just some more misdirection because you know, we
hadn't seen too much of it. And then they've really
done more misdirection stuff here in the second half, and
it's really.
Speaker 2 (02:40:43):
Worked for him. Yep. Westfall lines up here, three wide
to the right, twenty Everly flanked by the rights in
the backfield. Eli is gonna go in motion again. They're
gonna run every up the middle, and he's only a
gain about one on that play there.
Speaker 3 (02:41:02):
Again, it was they were trying to do that fake
screen pass on the outside and everyone was gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:41:06):
Take off the other way.
Speaker 3 (02:41:08):
Good job by Huntingson not biting on that fake like
the first time and holding them for about a game
of one.
Speaker 2 (02:41:15):
It is getting time to postseason season.
Speaker 39 (02:41:19):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:41:20):
The SBC cross Country meet is tomorrow at a Dina
High School. Uh So, if you're looking for something to
do in the morning, Uh, come on out watch those runners,
as they've put in a lot of miles all season.
West Fall breaks the huddle five forty five left in
this game, Everly takes a snap. He's gonna roll out
(02:41:42):
to the right, dodges, a defender throws it and it's picked.
I believe that's Frankie Hirsh. He's gonna run all the
way up the sideline untouched, and he's gone to score.
There is a flag on the play for a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:42:03):
And got hit really hard right there, helmet to helmet
contact or what.
Speaker 2 (02:42:10):
But this play might be negated by a hit on
the quarterback roughing the passer. Well, there's also a flag
over on this side of the field as well, which
is away from where.
Speaker 3 (02:42:19):
And you remember Huntington had that sideline warning, so that
that could be in play here with that sideline penalty,
but that would be after the play, so Huntington would
keep possession. We see a couple of things that be
sorted out here by the rest.
Speaker 5 (02:42:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:42:36):
Another pick was that it was Frankie Frankie Hers, Yeah,
not mistaken. So it was his third pick of the
game and ran it back over sixty yards there for
the touchdown.
Speaker 16 (02:42:51):
The penalty is an eligible receiver downfield.
Speaker 39 (02:42:53):
One of the must tangs that penalty is declined to
play results in a touchdown.
Speaker 16 (02:42:57):
Punch mone.
Speaker 2 (02:43:00):
So as you just heard where penalty was on west Fall,
it was declined and uh, looks like we're going to
have an unsportsmen like conduct on West Fall had a
player arguing with one of the officials. See, I still
don't know what this flag is right here. Yeah, unless
that was the downfield outfield, Yeah, but I thought it
(02:43:24):
was Averly he got destroyed on that had and it
from here it looked pretty bad. So but you know
it was, you know, deemed clean by the officials.
Speaker 3 (02:43:36):
So now that's just a huge play by Huntington to
go up two scores now and you know, potentially go
up to by thirteen points here at this two point conversion.
Speaker 2 (02:43:50):
Let's see what we're going to get here on this penalty.
I don't think they're gonna be announced.
Speaker 3 (02:43:59):
I'd assume it was unsportsman my conduct.
Speaker 2 (02:44:04):
That's the only logical thing based on what was happening
when the flag was thrown. But it doesn't look like
they are moving well. I think that would be assessed
one kickoff. Okay, So as it currently stands, Huntington leeds
thirty two to twenty one. They're going to line up
(02:44:27):
for the two point conversion. There was an unsports unsportsmanlike
conduct on Westfall that will be assessed on the kickoff.
So Huntington is going to try to gain a couple
of yards here to put two more points on the board. Again,
(02:44:48):
Frankie Hurst. That was his third interception.
Speaker 3 (02:44:50):
I don't know if that was his best pick though,
I know it was a pick six Resold in the points,
but he had to that one handed interception that was
pretty six. I mean, yeah, he's gonna he's gonna want
to pick sixth one, but uh, you know that one
handed pick at the end of the half was pretty
good too.
Speaker 2 (02:45:05):
Well. Just a phenomenal athlete, comes from a great family,
and uh, it's he's having quite a night tonight. They're
gonna fake the handoff. Hersch is gonna roll out to
the right. He has all kinds of room to run
and he is gonna pick up two conversion. So Frankie
(02:45:26):
Hirsch just adds to the list of accomplishment. And now
Huntington has a thirty four to twenty one lead with
five twenty three left in the game. This has been
the heck of a fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (02:45:43):
We've had Huntington, uh give up the lead to Westlaw
yeah and take the West will take a one point
lead and the swing that was so fast, and now
Huntington's got a two possession leader.
Speaker 38 (02:45:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:45:52):
So it's just it's been a really good football game
and a heck of a fourth quarter here. Well, it'll
be interesting to see if Quinn Everly is able to
come back into the game at quarterback. Like you said,
the hit that he took on that last pass he
threw was no joke, and he uh it took him
a while to to get off the turf. He's not
gonna be in to receive the kickoff here, Actually he is.
(02:46:18):
He's coming out of the field. That good for him.
He thought that was a big hit that he took there,
So nice to see him get back into the game here. Yeah,
all right, so Huntington is gonna kick off. Wait, so
the oh they're moving Huntington back. Yeah, so the unsportsman
(02:46:43):
like conduct found he was on Huntington, which I did
not see, Now I did not. Uh, so they're gonna
kick off from their own twenty five instead of their
own forty. Yeah, they never announced it, so we didn't know,
right it was over on the west hand sideline, so
we assumed that. So, uh yeah, that's gonna help last
Ball get some good film position here with a decent
kick return. And we've seen west Fall score at one
(02:47:12):
play with just you know, on the first level of
the drive and certainly have the ability to break the
big runs. Here's the kickoff. Whenever he's gonna field the
ball at forty he's gonna be taken down at the
forty seven yard line by number fifteen Landon f nice
(02:47:34):
tackle on special teams there by land do or die
time for Westfall here training.
Speaker 3 (02:47:44):
Yeah, I would expect them to still go to the
run game, but just go in this quick huddle mode
so they can get more plays off. I wouldn't you
know that ever least thrown four picks in the game,
and it's just you know, I hadn't been his night
throwing the ball. So I'd really want to see them
just do the misdirection and really try and take the ball,
uh through the tackles here and maybe maybe get in
the screen game so that every's not throwing the ball
(02:48:05):
down the field. Just you know, something to get get
west Fall back into the groove of things like they
were just you know, just five minutes ago in this quarter,
they were in a good spot.
Speaker 2 (02:48:15):
All right. Everly's gonna take the snap, He's gonna drop
back as all kinds of time. He's gonna roll out
to his left. Now he's gonna throw it to number two.
Speaker 3 (02:48:25):
That's gonna be a late hit out of bounce by Huntington,
So they're gonna add fifteen yards to this five yard.
Speaker 2 (02:48:31):
Yeah, Cayden Mercurio caught a five yard pass and went
out of bounds, and then after he was out of
bounds he was hit.
Speaker 26 (02:48:38):
Player.
Speaker 2 (02:48:40):
That is going to add fifteen.
Speaker 16 (02:48:43):
There are two fires.
Speaker 2 (02:48:46):
There may have been one on Westfold as well on
a blocking on a defensive player, but I think both
of them are gonna foul.
Speaker 16 (02:48:58):
Late hit on the hunchman.
Speaker 2 (02:49:01):
So west Fall given a gift here. They're going to
have the ball now at the hunting till thirty first
and ten five o eight left in the game. Every
back in the shotgun, he's going to roll to his
right and missus number four Wyatt ward Ward was open
(02:49:29):
there for a couple of secons. I think Everly was
looking down the field at another receiver and just by
the time he was able to throw it to him,
it was just not there anymore. Yeah, there's there's a
lot of time left for west Fall, and I think
they could still maybe just mix in some run plays
here and not have to throw the ball deep down
the field by every So, you know, kind of curious
(02:49:50):
to see if these next few players are then the
type of pass plays. Well, we will find out. West
Fall breaks the huddle once again and there are three
wide right, one to the left, and Joey right next
to Quinneverly in the backfield. Everly drops back. He's gonna
find Joey right, No, he's not. Calvin Hirst just picked
(02:50:12):
off his fourth pass of the football game and he
takes the knee at the twenty five yard line. That
was a Frankie hurt. Sorry, Frankie hurt. Yeah, Yeah, just
a good job.
Speaker 3 (02:50:25):
Every kind of floated that ball a little bit over
the field, middle of the field, and Frankie Hurst really
good job at recognizing that stepping in front of the
pass that picking off for a fourth interception of the game.
He's just been a huge player here, especially on defense.
And you know, he's been really big here in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (02:50:43):
Man, he has been all over the field for Huntington.
So Huntington will have first and ten, four forty nine
left in the game, up thirty four to twenty one.
I think you're probably only gonna see running plays from
here on out if you're Huntington.
Speaker 3 (02:51:00):
A lot of Isaac Taylor and Evan Thomas just trying
to finish this game.
Speaker 2 (02:51:02):
And they're gonna hand it off to Thomas. He's gonna
go to the left side, maybe pick up one, and
they're gonna wind this play clock down as low as
it can go.
Speaker 16 (02:51:16):
Zero eleven. Thomas on the Gary twenty has.
Speaker 2 (02:51:21):
Last way they do and now they're finally officials, finally
see it. Everybody on the Huntington sideline was banging for
the call. Hey, if you can get away with playing twelve,
you might as well. I think they did.
Speaker 3 (02:51:35):
It's just, uh, it was it was Joey Wright trying
to get off the field.
Speaker 2 (02:51:38):
You just didn't get a field participation.
Speaker 16 (02:51:41):
Twelve men on the field for the most.
Speaker 2 (02:51:43):
Thanks penalty for if you don't see it until after
the play, say that it didn't. It wasn't a part
of the play, all right. So we've got Huntington with
the ball at their own thirty first and five here,
(02:52:13):
and they are gonna use every single bit of this
play clock.
Speaker 3 (02:52:17):
Yeah, they're gonna wind it all the way down and westfall.
Remember they had to take that time out in a
third quarter. I know it's a two possession game now,
but you'd like to have that time out back to
be able to get a possession for offense.
Speaker 2 (02:52:30):
Huntington gonna line up with three running backs in the
backfield with Frankie Hirsch. Frankie's gonna take the snap. He's
gonna run left, follows his blockers, gonna pick up about
about six yards and get enough for the first down.
You've seen this from Huntington where they have three running
(02:52:51):
backs to go along with their quarterback in the backfield
and they just snap at the hirsh and then he
follows those three running backs as lead blockers. That's worked
out pretty good for him here, and no question about it.
Huntington doing exactly what you want to do in this situation,
which is keep the clock in the chains moving. So
(02:53:11):
Frankie Hirsch goes into the huddle again, they are in
no hurry at all to snap the football too wide
left if Neil goes in motion and they're going to
(02:53:33):
take a delay of game. There where is a free.
Speaker 39 (02:53:36):
Snap penalty delay of game on the hunch win five
yeard penalty, make it first and fifteen.
Speaker 16 (02:53:42):
For the Hunchman.
Speaker 2 (02:53:45):
They spent the last four plays showing you exactly how
to do everything right, and then on that play, the
one thing you can't do wrong, you're going to stop
the clock. Three sixteen left here in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (02:54:02):
Uh yeah, so it's you know, Huntington, I mean Westfall.
They have a chance to get the ball back here
with two timeouts and three sixteen to go with first
and fifteen here for Huntington. But you really want to
go after the ball and try to punch this out
if you can, just give it, give it your all
and try and get that ball out.
Speaker 2 (02:54:20):
Isaac Taylor takes the hand off, goes to the left side,
picks up about five on that play. I wonder if
coach STEP's gonna take.
Speaker 39 (02:54:28):
Taylor and to carry a twenty increase of Humphrey twenty
seven handling.
Speaker 3 (02:54:33):
On the shop, we're gonna see a lot of uh
we've seen a lot of Isaac Taylor here in the
second half, but you know, especially finish this game out
where I saw he's carrying that ball with two hands.
He's makatures protected. And actually it was funny thing Westfall
didn't bring him down there. It looks like he tripped
up his alignment and I still got about five yards
on the run.
Speaker 2 (02:54:53):
So you can bet that the offensive coaches are telling
him just that, do not drop this football. M Frankie
Hirsch takes the snap, gonna hand off again to Isaac
Taylor around the left side. He's got some blockers in
front of him. He cuts back up the middle and
picks up about five six yards on that card logan step.
Speaker 16 (02:55:17):
He's gonna take a.
Speaker 2 (02:55:18):
Time out stop. Yeah, it's gonna be about third and
five here.
Speaker 3 (02:55:24):
From someone I've known Huntington, so number fifty nine, Jared Johnson,
who plays both ways for him, offensive line and defensive line.
He was injured for a little bit and he was
on the sideline there, you know, starting the third quarter.
He's out there now, so he's he's grinding it out
and he's just uh, he's uh, he's really trying to
(02:55:45):
get Huntington to this win and running this block out.
So you know, he's done a really good job of
powering through potential injury that he's had.
Speaker 2 (02:55:52):
Yep. Well, Huntington, Uh looks like as long as they
do what they need to do with two seventeen left
here in this game, it looks like they're going to
pick up a big win tonight against west Fall. They'll
take this. Take this to aDNA next week, try to
(02:56:12):
continue that momentum. Adena did lose in a final at
Piked in twenty seven to seven.
Speaker 3 (02:56:20):
Yeah, and if you're Huntings and you are coming off
a huge win last week, beating your arrival in Peyton
Valley and now you're beating West Fall, which is a
pretty good football team, you know, trying to fight and
go to the playoffs. And Huntington for themselves if they
can hang on and get this win, they've they've kind
of established himself so as maybe getting into the playoffs
here in the last few weeks.
Speaker 2 (02:56:41):
So you know, I really want to hang on just
to get this win. But really really nice that all right? Well,
Huntington has third and four again with two seventeen left.
McNeil goes in motion, first takes the snap, Isaac Taylor
runs up the middle and he is not going down
and picks up enough for the first down, a gain
(02:57:03):
of about eleven yards for Isaac Taylor's going.
Speaker 16 (02:57:06):
Isaac Taylor on the carry twenty.
Speaker 2 (02:57:07):
And there he is again, and you know that's that's
gonna get a first down being fresh set ann and
that might I might actually do it here.
Speaker 16 (02:57:15):
So that's what's going to have it first at the
Mustangs three yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:57:25):
All right, so twenty seconds left on the play clock.
We've got two minutes left here in this game. Really
really impressed with how this Huntington offensive line turned things
around in the in the second half, Frankie Hurst takes
the snap, hands to Isaac Taylor. Man he is he
(02:57:48):
is running so hard right now. He got hit early
right as he went through the line, but still ends
up with a three yard game. At a different level,
Isaac Taylor in the first half four carries for eight yards.
He did have that touchdown of the goal line.
Speaker 3 (02:58:02):
But in the second half he has had fourteen carries
for ninety yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (02:58:08):
He has just grinded out these runs. And it's a
big part of why Huntington has a league. It's been
really really impressive. The clock continues to kick tip down
in a minute ten left in this game. Huntington lines up,
waits for the play clock to get all the way down,
(02:58:31):
hand off to Isaac Taylor again, falls forward, picks up
another three or four yards and third down and five
will call it.
Speaker 3 (02:58:48):
And now he just went over one hundred yards for
this game. So Isaac Taylor has they have not been
easy yards for him. He has grinded through this game
and has gotten all these yards and he has earned them.
And then another thing, he's held onto the football. Absolutely,
we haven't seen any fumbles out of anybody here tonight,
so you know he's held on that football. He's gonna
run the clock out here and victory formation.
Speaker 2 (02:59:09):
Victory formation. Huntington is going to neil the football here
with about twelve seconds left.
Speaker 26 (02:59:17):
That is going to do it.
Speaker 2 (02:59:19):

Welcome back to Huntingson High School where the Huntington Huntsman
beat west Fall thirty four to twenty one.
Speaker 2 (03:02:41):
Let's go to the scoring summary. So it started out
with west Fall.
Speaker 3 (03:02:45):
They were up seven to nothing with an Eli Wright
two yard touchdown run with eight thirty one to go
in the first quarter. With that pat could so it
was seven nothing west Fall. Huntingson then came back with
a score at seven twenty two left and first quarter
and that was an Isaac Taylor one yard touchdown run
the pat on that was no good.
Speaker 2 (03:03:06):
It was seven to sixth west Fall.
Speaker 3 (03:03:09):
Huntington then again followed with Isaac Taylor another touchdown run
with two fifty eight in the third quarter and that
was a twelve to seven Huntington lead with that pat
also no good. And then again Isaac Taylor eleven forty
nine to go in the fourth quarter put Huntington up
twenty to seven.
Speaker 2 (03:03:27):
With that pat good. And then Weshall came back.
Speaker 3 (03:03:30):
In the fourth quarter with eleven twenty five left in
the fourth that was Joey Wright with a sixty nine
yard touchdown run with the extra point good Huntington then
led twenty to fourteen, and then west Fall again after
an onside kick recovered it and then Quinn Everley, with
ten to fifty two left in the fourth scored with
a forty yard touchdown run.
Speaker 2 (03:03:50):
With that Pat could put Wessell up by one twenty
one to twenty.
Speaker 3 (03:03:55):
And then again the Huntsman came back Jackson McNeil with
a thirty three yard touch sound catch by Frank from
Frankie Hirsch with seven to sixteen left to go in
the fourth quarter, and that put Huntington up twenty sixth
to twenty one.
Speaker 2 (03:04:10):
With that Pat no good. And then the last last.
Speaker 3 (03:04:15):
Scoring play was Frankie Hirsch his fourth interception of the
game made a pick six, made Huntingson up thirty four
the twenty one, which was our final score. And that
was with five twenty three left to go here in
the fourth quarter. Big win here by Huntington Huntsman.
Speaker 2 (03:04:36):
We are waiting on the victorious head coach to get
to Andrew Day for a postgame interview. With that we
will it looks like looks like we might have him.
Speaker 3 (03:04:52):
So we are about to go down to the field
with Andrew Day and the victorious head coach here tonight,
Coach Peeler of Huntington, who had a big win and
is going to increase his playoff chances here with a
you know, a good win last week, winning a rivalry game,
and now you're at home against west Fall and you
(03:05:15):
are you win this game and you give a really
good chance to go to the playoffs, and now we
were going to go down to Andrew Day and it
is going to be with coach Bieler of Huntington.
Speaker 2 (03:05:30):
I'm here with coach Bieler. Coach Peeler has to feel
good to get over the hump beating a really good
team like west Fall Tonite.
Speaker 26 (03:05:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 25 (03:05:37):
Absolutely. I mean we came into this week, we knew
what was on the line. I thought our kids were
super focused.
Speaker 2 (03:05:42):
Man. The culture has definitely shifted.
Speaker 25 (03:05:45):
You know a lot of ups and downs in that
game where you know, you go into half at seven six,
in the second half, you come out, you score twice,
and you give up two quick scores to go down one,
and our kids they just kept on fighting. And I
think it says a lot of you know about our township.
Speaker 2 (03:05:58):
There's a lot of grid out here, and our kids
they're fighters and they're gonna keep fighting. Yeah. I think
the word that kept coming to mind was resiliency, Like
like the interchange you just talked about, where you take
that lead and then you go down, and then your
kids don't don't quit, they just keep fighting. I don't
know if I've ever seen the difference in an offensive
line between the first half and the second half like
(03:06:20):
you did tonight. The second half. Your offensive line move
all un of scrimmage at will. Yeah.
Speaker 25 (03:06:24):
Well, I'll give that to my offensive coordinators. We found
a pocket there where their defense didn't really adjust. We
were able to get numbers and took them a couple
series to figure it out. But you know, everything starts
up front, and you're right, we're all about being relentless
and resilient, and we talked about that in execution at half,
and I felt like they definitely came out and did that.
Speaker 2 (03:06:44):
Frankie Hurst had a little bit of a night tonight
talk about what he brings to the table on both
sides of the football. He's just he's a heck of
an athlete. He's a leader for us.
Speaker 25 (03:06:52):
Anytime he's got the ball, it's trouble for a defense.
And then you know, it's always nice when the opposing
quarterback throw it to him while he's on defense.
Speaker 2 (03:07:01):
So but Frankie, I'll give it.
Speaker 25 (03:07:03):
Crankie's a great cornerback, grating coverage and just you know,
a really really good athlete. And I think his brother,
I think had two picks too, So I think we
had four tonite, two with Frankie and then two with Calvin.
Speaker 2 (03:07:13):
So just can't say enough about Frankie Man. Just great kid. Yeah, lastly,
talk about Evan Thomas Isaac Taylor. The way those guys
fight for extra yards every time out. It's got to
be fun for your line to see them doing that. Absolutely,
that's that one two punch.
Speaker 25 (03:07:29):
Evan started out at receiver earlier this year and we've
had to bring him in because we've had just some
injuries on but there's no quitting those two.
Speaker 2 (03:07:37):
They're always beat up. But you know, and I could
talk about those two all.
Speaker 25 (03:07:40):
Day and they'll get awards and accolades and you'll see
him on the stat sheet. But the fact is that
the offensive line doesn't open holes in the second half
and they're running at you know, white jerseys and red jerseys,
so oro line is uh, they took over in the
second half, and that's that's what that's what changed the
ballgame for us.
Speaker 2 (03:07:57):
Absolutely coach heck wa wind, congratulation and the best luck
moving forward. Thank you, buddy, appreciate you, and we will
take a break.

postgame report on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 2 (03:10:48):
Well we're back. Try give us some stats from tonight.
Speaker 38 (03:10:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:10:51):
Starting with the victorious team and the Huntington Huntsman. They
were led and rushing by Isaac Taylor got twenty four carries,
one hundred and one yards and three tuchdowns. He did
most of that damage here in the second half. Also,
Evan Thomas had fifteen carries for fifty one yards. Frankie
Hurst big game offensively and defensively. He had seven carries
(03:11:12):
for twenty seven yards. He was five of ten with
seventy five yards passing, a touchdown and one interception that
he threw. But he made up for it with four
interceptions that he got. Maybe we got a mixed up.
I saw a coach, but maybe we thought we had
a different numbers of interceptions there.
Speaker 2 (03:11:29):
But we're gonna give Frankie Hurst four interceptions. Well, I
know Kvien had one. I do know Covien had one.
Ye had five totals. I think I think Frankie had four.
So okay.
Speaker 3 (03:11:39):
And now for the West Fall Mustangs, they were led
by Joey Wright, who had twenty carries for two hundred
and thirty yards. He also threw in I had one
catch for twenty yards. Eli Wright had six carries for
twenty two yards, and then Quinn Everly had seventy six yards.
(03:12:00):
I'm seeing he had thirteen carries and that one touchdown.
Passing he was five for ten forty five yards. He did, however,
throw those five picks, which were pretty costly down the
stretch for west Vall and also Huntington receiving Dalton Nichols
had two catches for twenty yards, Carson McNeil had one
catch for fifteen l J. Cooper had one catch for
(03:12:21):
seven yards, and the big catch was by was that
Jackson Jackson McNeil who had a touchdown catch for thirty
three yards.
Speaker 2 (03:12:34):
All Right, well, you know, I think if you're if
you're these two teams tonight, you got a sense talking
to both coaches before the game that this was a
big one, right, And so if you're Huntington to kind
of break through and beat a really good team and
to see yourself in the top half of the SVC standings,
you haven't been there in a long time, and so
(03:12:56):
this feels like a kind of a program changing win
a little bit. Yeah, and Huntingson's only won five games
twice in the last decade for football, So this was
their fifth win of the year and just a confidence
booster heading into the last three weeks of the season.
And like you said, they're really close to that to
that playoff spot. So this win really helped them.
Speaker 3 (03:13:19):
But you know what it really needs to do is
give a more momentum going in the next few weeks
to get a couple more wins and to really strengthen.
Speaker 2 (03:13:26):
Their case for the playoffs. Yeah, so if you're if
you're West full heard a little bit of what coach
Stepp was saying to his team down on the field
there at the end, and the message was basically this, guys,
there's this is not means season over right. There's still
so much left in this season for us to accomplish.
(03:13:46):
And and he's right, there's uh. This is a team
that can still finish second in the SBC. This is
a team that if they win their last two games,
has a chance to make the playoffs. So if you're
West Fall, you just have to find a way to regroup,
come back next week ready to go, and try to
take advantage of the opportunities you have left in front
of you. We're going to go to one more break.
(03:14:09):

Speaker 2 (03:16:58):
Well, one more time from night field here at Huntington
High School where Huntington was a thirty four to twenty
one victor over the West Fall Mustangs, and uh, you know, Trey,
I think this was a game of just this was
a game of runs right, one team game momentum, and
(03:17:18):
somebody else came it back, and it just went back
and forth, and Huntington had it at the end.
Speaker 3 (03:17:22):
Yeah, that was a wild ride in the fourth quarter
where it looked like Huntington was was, you know, go
to run them away with it the way they were
running football. And then hunt Westwall comes out of nowhere
and scores two touchdowns in the span of one minute. Yeah,
and they take the lead again and then give credit
the Huntingson just to throw all that away and just
pound them again there in the fourth quarter, and you know,
(03:17:43):
finishing the job. And again I Huntington just that I've been.
They probably came in as the underdogs here tonight and
they were they thought of it too, and they were
they were ready to go tonight, and uh, you know,
just a really good job all around offensive defense, offensively, defensively,
and and even coaching.
Speaker 2 (03:18:00):
So it was a really good job with them tonight. Absolutely. Yeah.
