And tonight we have the Uniodo Shermans against the Piked
in Red Streaks. And my name is Lou Postage. Along
with me tonight is Andrew Day. Andrew Tonight, We've got
two teams, the undefeated Unioda Shermans in the two and
two Piked in Red Streaks. Both offense can really put
up some points, so it'll be interesting to see.

How this game comes out.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah, well, you know, both of both teams are kind
of in a little bit of different places. Pithon's coming
off of a couple losses, probably one of the teams
that before the season we would have identified as one
of the teams that can maybe challenge Unioda for the league.
Unioda obviously is off to a great start four to
oho and they are putting up points in bunches. So

Pithon's defense gonna is gonna have some challenges in front
of them.

But this is high school football. It's homecoming. Royalty is
about to be crowned. And this is what makes it great.

And again, this is our first time seeing the Uni
Yodo Shermans, and on paper, bore they look stacked both
offensively and defensively.

Yeah, they do.

They have playmakers everywhere. Cody Brayden's a fantastic running back.
They've got receivers and bunches. Isaac Coy as a kid
that's thrown for a lot of yards already as a
junior in high school. They just present all kinds of
problems if you're a defensive coordinator.

am now talking with head coach for the Piked in
redch Tyler. Coach, you've been through three weeks of preseason
practice and now four weeks of games. What have you
learned about your team so far in that time period.

Speaker 13 (05:10):
Well, we're a are resilient bunch, you know, thanks having
gone our way, haven't had to start that We've liked,
had several injuries, but they keep showing up, they keep working,
they keep playing hard, and that's that's all we can ask.
They're very resilient, a good, good bunch of young men
to coach.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Coach as you are looking for that, you know, consistency.
You say they're resilient, but the consistency you're looking for.
Is that's something that Red Streaks are still striving to find.

Speaker 13 (05:39):
Yeah, I mean any coach is looking for consistency. But
when you got some kids maybe playing spots they have
not used to play, and sticking kids here and there,
you're going to have some ups and downs. And especially
with the stretch we've played. You know, the teams that
we've played, it's they're going to angnify your weaknesses and

they have.

Speaker 10 (06:02):
But you just got to stay the course. You've got
to keep working.

Speaker 13 (06:05):
Getting them as many reps as we can, and just
getting better each day.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Coach, as I look down your roster, you do have
a few players that have been around for a while.
Does it help having those types of players and you
can name those players as you go through there to
help you through these rough patches?

Speaker 13 (06:23):
Yes, it does, most definitely that's been there. But also
you can't have them try to do too much, and
I think we've had that the last couple of weeks.
They've kind of tried to almost do too much and
probably put too much pressure on themselves because they have
some guys out. You still just got to go out
and do your job and help those other people along.

(06:45):
You know, we offend, we're on to lean on our
offensive line. They stay together. They've been around for a
couple of years. And of course work on Luke at quarterback.
He's got to, you know, take charge of the offense
like he has. But hey, just stay with than himself.
Just do what he's asked.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Well, coach, coming off you started the season with two
straight wins. Now you're coming off two straight losses. How
has the week of practice been this week? And how
do you think your team's are responding?

Speaker 13 (07:12):
Like I said, they're resilient, they come back ready to go.
You know, it's a big week. I mean, we do
this stretch of games, we're gonna be tough. But no,
they've had a good week, good good preparation, you know.
And it's not it's not always gonna be perfect. Life's
not perfect, and you've got to adjust. You've got to adapt.

(07:32):
You got to respond well with what's given.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Well, coach, your opponents of Friday or four and oh
the Uni out the Shermans have looked really impressive on paper.
What jumps out to you on film about the Shermans
and what do you expect from them on Friday?

Speaker 13 (07:48):
The first thing is their speed, their team speed. You
know they got offensively and defensively, they just got speed
a lot of different spots. And how do I say this,
it's hard to find weaknesses. Now we face better players
individually through the season, but you know, as a coach
you're always looking for the weakest link to attack, and

it's hard to find a weak link on that team.
They're just kind of solid all the way all the
way through, both offensively and defensively.

Speaker 10 (08:19):
So very well coached. Very like I.

Speaker 13 (08:22):
Said, lots of speed and not a lot of weaknesses there.

Speaker 2 (08:26):

Welcome back to the Adina Health Systems pregame Show. I
am now talking with Unioto coach Mad Hoops coach. It
seems really weird looking at a UNIODA roster and not
seeing the names of Blake Hoops and Cayden Cutt Right,
guys that were big contributors to the Sherman success over
the last few years. As we enter week five, what
have you learned about your team and talk about some

(12:16):
of the players that have stepped up to fill the
roles of players like Blake Hoops and Caden cut Right.

Speaker 10 (12:22):
Yeah, I mean obviously it's it's it is.

Speaker 20 (12:24):
A little bit different, probably not so much now since
we're about halfway through the season. But you know, every
year that you have success, you know you had success
for a reason, and it's because you had a lot
of really good players. And those two were obviously really
good players for a long time for us. And you know,
just in terms of replacing those guys, you know, their
specific positions are guys like Levi Dean both offensively and

(12:47):
defensively is kind of taken on Caden's role, and then
on defense the Mica Strange is the other corner that
Blake played. And then offensively, Jackson Zikafus we've slid him
out to the X receiver and he's playing the spot
that Blake played in. So we've had a lot of
really good athletes that have come up through our program,
and you know, now it's their turn and their time

(13:10):
and and they're and they're making the most of it,
which is what you want. You know, We've got a
lot of guys that have stepped up for us, but
those guys in particular have really filled the rules of
those two guys for us.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Well, offensively, your team is putting up big numbers but
the defense and their numbers is what jumps out to me.
You're only giving up five point two five a game
and not allowing anyone to get into double figures. Yet
talk about how impressed you are with your defense.

Speaker 20 (13:36):
Well, our defensive coordinator Ryan reyan Hart takes a lot
of pride.

Speaker 10 (13:40):
In that and his his defensive staff.

Speaker 20 (13:42):
All of those guys really do a great job each
week of coming up with a game plan, you know,
that fits our team. And the thing I think that
he does the best is he just keeps it really
simple and allows him to play fast. A lot of
these guys that are on our defense have have been
on that.

Speaker 10 (13:57):
Side of the football for a couple of years now.

Speaker 20 (13:59):
A lot of them are and I think that's what
you get whenever you have you add all of that
up kind of you know, I have to give a
little bit of credit to Huntington last week because they're
actually the first team that's that's even scored on us
in the first half. Our defense is really takes pride
in that side of the football and takes it personal
when teams gain yards on them.

Speaker 10 (14:18):
And you know, they don't like it and let alone
let them score on them. They really don't like that.

Speaker 20 (14:23):
So you know, those guys work really hard at what
they do when they play really fast and are very aggressive.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Coach your team as a seventeen game conference win streak
and you have won two straight gold Balls, talk about
how your team handles the role of walking around with
the bulls eye on their back and getting everyone's best
effort each week.

Speaker 20 (14:41):
Well, I mean that's something that we talk a lot about,
you know, more so when we were trying to get
to where we are, if that makes sense, Like, you know,
when we weren't winning gold Balls and we didn't have
a conference winning streak, we were talking about just taking
it one game at a time and trying to be
one to know after every Friday night. And I think
that that message kind of just got ingrained in all

(15:03):
of these guys's mind. I don't think they really think
about it, because I think I think they're still just
trying to go want to know each week.

Speaker 10 (15:09):
To be honest, I.

Speaker 20 (15:10):
Don't I don't know unless maybe ask someone like David Long.
I don't know if any of our guys on our
team would even know that we have a seventeen game
winning streak.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Well, coach your opponents on Friday. The piked In Red
streaks are two and two. Talk about what you see
from them and what you're expecting come Friday night.

Speaker 20 (15:25):
Well, I know coach Gollian really well, he's been there
for a long time.

Speaker 10 (15:29):
He does a great job with this team.

Speaker 20 (15:31):
I know, anytime that you're coming off a couple of losses,
you know you're trying to get that taste out of
your mouth, and typing is no different. They're really big
and physical upfront. They're really good on the line of scrimmage.
And you know, it's a little bit cliche, but every
football coach knows that if you can win the line
of scrimmage, you've got a really good chance to win
in the game.

Speaker 10 (15:49):
And piked In is really good upfront.

Speaker 20 (15:51):
So plus you got an outstanding quarterback and Luke Gollian
who's a three year starter, So pose a lot of
problems for us. And you know, we've just got a
you know, we've had a really good week of practice
so far and we're hoping tonight, you know, we can
figure out a way to come out on top.

On the outside they can get and make plays. Uh,
So establish the run. I think for Python, I think
the key for.

Them as long as sustained drives where they finish at
the end the score. Last week in Zane Trace, theyf
really offsided that Python actually won in time of possession
by a considerable margin in that game, which is no
easy feed against Zane Trace.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Uh, they were able to drive the ball, but that
continually made mistakes that hurt.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
They went for it on fourteens a couple of times
and didn't get it. In this game against thee where
the Unioda is gonna put up points.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
But the more you can keep.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Them their offense on the sideline by having long succein
drives and by finishing those with touchdowns, you give yourself
a chance in this game.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah, and again, if you play teams like us, it
ain't traising the un Niyodo. You can't afford not to
finish dogs. You cannot afford to give them opportunity because
those teams will take advantage of As we talked about a.

Beautiful night here tonight, it was also a homecoming.

Here at Uniodo High School, and we did crown some
royalty here before the game.

And there who are those winners of the homecoming with
the bus. Congratulations to King JJ Smith and the Queen

All right, and now we see the Unioda Sherman's running
onto the field with the band playing.

The fight song as they do so U Niodo is.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
In the white helmets with numbers on one side and
the Unioda Sherman logo on the other, white pants with
gold and purple striping and their purple home uniforms with
white lettering. And we also now see the piked at
Red Streaks with their white jerseys, silver helmets, red lettering

on the jerseys, and their red pants. So we had
the coin toss earlier tonight. Pikedon won the coin toss.
They're going to defer to the second half. UNIODA will
receive the first half kickoff, and here at Unyoda High School,
the field goes north and south and UNIODO will defend
the south goal, so they will receive the ball going

right to left on your radio dial. Looking at some
of the starters here, as we talked about the Unioda
shermans On offense, they are led by their quarterback, Isaac Coy.
Running back is Cody Brayden. Also you will see in
the backfields David Long. He will also be out sort
of like an H back type as well. Your wide

receivers will see probably about four of them, Jackson zikafuz Levi, Bean,
Jack Welsh, and also Brayden Harsha we will also see
him in as well. On the offensive line, their left
tackle is Bryce Jarvis, left guard Glen Stottridge, their center
is Landed Caruth, right guard Dylan Stanley, and their right

tackle was don Ze Newland. And again this is a
team that is averaging almost over four hundred yards a
game forty seven points per.

Game, and again they are four and zero on the year.

Looking at the Piked in defense, their defensive line, you
have Malachi Lamerson, Caleb Johnson, and Joseph Scott. Their linebackers
are Kendall Day, Wyatt Savage.

Connor Daniels and Noah Ross.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
And in the defensive backfield Landon Hennix, Gavin Blennon, and
I'm on Leslie. So as we get ready for the
opening kickoff, I'm not sure what the officials are all
done on one end here.

It's like we still have.

Three minutes on the clock, so no teams are ready
to go where and go like the clock still says
three minutes, So I don't know if their officials are
going to wait or if they're going to come down
and get things started here early. But beautiful setting here
