His hometown high school football coverage with the audio technical
pregame show on ninety four Country w KKJA.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Welcome to another beautiful Friday evening for high school football. Tonight,
we come to you from Frankfort, Ohio and Adena High School,
where tonight the Adena Warriors hosts the u NIODA Shermans
Andrew Tonight, we've got a game where you got two
teams that are on winning streaks. The Adena Warriors on
a three game winning streaks, all at home. Yep, they're

(00:33):
playing their four straight home game. And then we have
the UNIODA Shermans who are perfect on the season five
and zero. They have a long winning streak in the
SVC going, they've won two straight gold balls.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
So something's going to end here, don Yeah, something is.
Both teams are playing well. As you said, you know,
I think for a young Adena team, this has been
a run that they needed. That they needed this run
of three, you know, three wins in a row to
kind of get them on track, can and build confidence
and get them to believe in what they're doing. And

(01:04):
I think you're starting to see that confidence come out
a little bit and and you know, we'll see how
how that translates against the best team in the league, right,
and this is a deep, talented, big, strong, fast Uniota
team and uh they're they're going to come in again
with a lot of confidence, and uh they want to
they want to play well to get ready for next week,

(01:25):
which is the game that everybody has always kind of
had circled on the calendar against Zane Trace. So uh yeah,
it's a it's a fun game tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
And as we all know, coaches are always one game
at a time, and that's what coach Hoops talked about.
And earlier this week, I was able to talk to
both coaches and we'll hear their comments right after this message.
You're listening to the Adina Health Systems pregame show on

Mark Patrick Seminars is coming to Chili Coffee on Tuesday,
October fourteenth. Here we talk about how hypnosis works to
help people lose weight or stop smoking.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
If we have an image of a nonsmoker, we attract
non smoker behaviors and beliefs. So we have an image
of a smoker, we attract the habits of a smoker.
If we have the image of a person who is overweight,
we live up to those expectations. So one of the
things we focus on with our programs is this is
we work on at the subconscious level, the image or
snapshot of yourself. If you have a healthy image, you

(03:25):
attract healthy habits. We work on under hypnosis taking the
pleasure association now for smokers that they have forward smoking,
putting back in what they already know consciously that it's
a filthy, disgusting habit that they never wish they start
in the first place, that's killing them dead. And we
get them out of these sessions feeling good about themselves
and if what they want to do these things instead
of feel like they have to do that.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Welcome back to the Dina Health Systems pregame Show. I
am now talking with Unioto coach Matt Hoops Coach. You
now stand at five and zero overall, two and zero
in the league, and as a coach, you're always looking
for improvements from week to week. What are some of
the points of improvement that you tried to focus on
this week in practice?

Speaker 12 (05:25):
This week, you know has been the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 13 (05:28):
We've just tried to be as sharp as we possibly
can try to eliminate any penalties maybe that we've had
holding penalty, I know we had two or three last week.
So just been working more individually, like with our offensive
line skill in terms of their technique and things like that,
making sure that they're not getting caught with our hands
outside and stalling some of these drives that we've had

(05:49):
because of penalties every now and then.

Speaker 12 (05:52):
So just trying to clean things up.

Speaker 13 (05:54):
Also, if you know, we're at the halfway point of
the season, so we're trying to probably cut back our
practice times a little bit in terms of just allowing
us to recover a little bit longer and be as
fresh as we possibly can for Friday night.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Interesting stat we were able to come across here. You
were outscoring your opponents by forty two point eight points
a game, and in Division four that is the largest
margin in the state. A lot of times people are
going to say, Wow, that's a high powered offense they have,
but looking at your team, I think it's the defense
that kickstart your offense. For example, last week, your defense

(06:29):
got you on the scoreboard first. Talk about the overall
philosophy and mentality of that group.

Speaker 13 (06:35):
Yeah, I mean, just to kind of use a basketball
analogy a little bit. You know, a lot of times
when when you score a bunch of points, then you
know you don't think of it in terms of defense
because that gives the opponent the opportunity to have the
ball more.

Speaker 12 (06:48):
And same thing with football.

Speaker 13 (06:49):
You know, we're scoring a lot of points, and so
the defense is having to go right back out on
the field obviously and try to defend and get us
and get the offense the ball back in the best
possible field position. They been able to do that all
season long for us. You know, our defensive philosophy is
it's not real complicated. We want guys to be able
to line up correctly and not have to do a
lot of thinking. And our defensive coordinator, Ryan Reinhardt, does

(07:13):
a great job of allowing our guys to be really
confident in what they're doing and to play fast. And
we have a lot of really good athletes that are
already fast, and they're kind of playing with that confidence
and knowing where they're going to go and when they're
going to get there. It becomes a really good defense.
That also helps to have seven seven starters on our defense,
or maybe eight several eight starters on our defense that

(07:35):
are seniors that have also played in this defense for
two or three years. So you know that just comfort
level and confidence and being able to play freely has
allowed us to be really good defensively.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Coach, as we enter week six and the playoffs are
a ways away, but do you look at the rankings
at all, and how do you feel about the new
playoff format. We're only now the top twelve make it
out of each region, and the top four of those
twelve will get buys in week number eleven.

Speaker 12 (08:04):
I think it's the right thing.

Speaker 13 (08:05):
I think twelve's probably the right number if it's not
going to be eight, and twelve is the right number.
I'm not sure about the buye yet because obviously you've
never experienced that, and I don't even know if we
will be able to get a buy I think right
now we're sitting I think at eight in our region,
so obviously we would have to play that first week game,
but I you know, it's still a long ways away.

(08:26):
I think really you start kind of taking you look
at it every week when it comes out, just to
see where you are. But I think really you start
probably looking at it a little bit more seriously starting
in like weeks eight, nine, and ten, because it starts
to shake out by that point. But overall, I think
twelve is the right number, you know, and time will
tell if we get a first round by or if
we don't, and how that'll work out me personally. I mean,

(08:48):
if we're healthy, you know, I would rather just go
ahead and play that week eleven game. But you know,
if we unfortunately hopefully this doesn't happen. If you have
guys banged up or whatever you need another week to rest,
then that's an advantage of well, I guess it all.

Speaker 12 (09:01):
We'll figure it out when when when that time comes.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Well, getting back to week six. Here your opponents this week,
the Adena Warriors. They're on a three game winning streak
and you have to travel out to Frankfort. What have
you seen from the Warriors and what do you expect
come Friday night?

Speaker 13 (09:14):
Well, I think with Kochurt, obviously, his teams are always
going to be physical and well prepared, you know, and
just play that Adena style of football. And I think
that that's that's no different this season. They you know,
they do a good job of running the football. They
got they got some athletes that they can't get the
ball to in space. You know, when you go on
the road, it's it's you know, it's a challenge because

(09:35):
I know how we feel when we play at home.

Speaker 12 (09:38):
You know, we really like it. I'm sure a Dina
feels the same way.

Speaker 13 (09:41):
They've made some upgrades to their facility out you know,
hopefully we'll have to bring our sunglasses so that we
can stare into the sun, you know, since they've switched
the sidelines, because this rain this week is kind of
put a damper on things.

Speaker 12 (09:53):
But it looks like we're supposed to have a good night.
You know.

Speaker 13 (09:55):
I know it's going to be a tough task for
us because Dina has won three in a row, and
and they're really well coached team.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Well coach with the weather.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Andrew and I have been taking credit for the weather
all season long, so hopefully that streak continues.

Speaker 12 (10:09):
I agree, I agree. If not, I know who to blame.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Welcome back to the Adena Health Systems pregame Show. I'm
talking now with Adena head coach Scott Hert. Coach, your
team has won three games in a row. In each
of those games, your team has scored on the first possession.
Talk about how important it is for your team to
get off to a good start.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Well, that's kind of something we look that from last year.

Speaker 9 (14:01):
We got off to some slow starts, even in the
win or two that we've had last year, and that's
been just kind of the thing that we focus on
coming out and being up to speed and ready just
executing and then we can we can adjust from there,
but just coming out ready to play and it's making
a difference right off the bat. It's been a real
focus of our since the very beginning of the summer. Awesome, mean,

(14:23):
we started putting plays in. We needed to get rid
of the apprehension.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
And the doubt and all that. We just need to
go play well.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Coach, Also, your special teams and your defense have been
pretty important in this winning streak. Being able to add
points on the board for you during those games. Is
that something your team takes pride in.

Speaker 9 (14:41):
Well, that's something and it might be the reason I
kind of gave up special teams for the most part,
and we give to somebody that probably has a little
bit more time and can focus on it and maybe
just a different voice.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
But we've had a kickoff return last.

Speaker 9 (14:55):
Week or two weeks ago against Southeastern getting that started
off well, and just the fact that we can get
something out of the special teams and not just you know,
being even fine, but being on the plus side of
those is real big. And then of course the defense
for that first two wins in this winning streak, they
basically carry us. Then you give up a touchdown in
each one of those, that's going to set your offense

(15:18):
up pretty well.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
So those two parts of the last three weeks have
been very valuable.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
For us well as we enter week six now this season,
there is a new playoff format this year for high
school football. The top twelve will make it in each
region instead of sixteen, and the top four of those
twelve are going to get a week eleven. By first
of all, do you look at playoff rankings at all
right now? And how do you feel about that new format?

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Well, honestly, i.

Speaker 9 (15:46):
Haven't been on Joe Idle at all, but I'm very
aware of what's out there people around me that look
at those, and of course you can get scores and
we keep up with a few of you know, teams
that we have friends that are coaching or whatever else.
But I was all for it as an ad I
thought those years leading up when we went during COVID

(16:07):
when everybody made it, and then the next year they
just jumped from sixteen, and I was pretty sure that
school administration and coaches that were kind of involved with
that didn't want to go that far. I'm a strong
advocate for the twelve team if they're going to do that,
because I know there was a couple of years in
there where a ten and zero team didn't make it
when there was only eight going, so there had to

(16:27):
be something changed about it.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
And then you stretch it out to sixteen. I just
think in some.

Speaker 9 (16:32):
Regions, especially Division one, you get one versus a sixteen,
and that sixteen's only won one game.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
That's a tough matchup. And then, of course last.

Speaker 9 (16:41):
Year you have Mary Local, the team that they were
supposed to play didn't even play. So I think it
was time for us to do some adjustments. Hopefully they
don't lose too much money up there and they can
get by on what they make off the playoff system
they have now.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Well on paper, coach your opponents this week, the Uniota
Sherman's look very impressive, putting up some big numbers both
offensively and defensively. What do you see from the Shermans
on the films and what do you expect from them
come Friday night.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Well, what I've found is is.

Speaker 9 (17:12):
Very I like to see how teams get get them
to spread out a little bit because they they've got enough.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Kids, dudes.

Speaker 9 (17:18):
I guess if you want to call them that, that
they can just lock you up on the outside and
keep seven in the box and just and shut you down.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
That's just and I do the same thing if I
had that. We just got to be very deliberate. I think.

Speaker 9 (17:33):
One, we've got to hang on to the football. Every
little yard half yard. We talked about it all week
with the kids. Every inchine is going to make a difference,
because I told them it's just we've got to be
to a point where you've got to give me a
chance as a coach to say, on fourth down, we're
going to go for it. So every little yard is
going to make a difference. If we can get the
fourth and two and fourth and three in the right

(17:54):
field position, we've got to be able to take advantage
of that and slowing them down good luck. I don't
think they've had a full game the entire year. One
If they have it's still been stretched out a little bit.
That's our We've got little things that we need to
do in order for us to have success. We know
it's a long stretch, but you know what, that ball

(18:16):
bounces a funny way sometimes, and we just want to
make sure that we're in the right position to take
advantage of that. Well, coach, we appreciate your time and
best lucky in the game on Friday night.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
All right, thank you, lud.

Welcome back to the Adena Health Systems pregame Show. Uh well, Andrew,
As we get closer to the first half kickoff, here,
we're going to talk about the keys to the game.
The keys to the game are presented by Home Loans
by Gen. The key to better living starts with a
visit to Home Loans by Gen with helpful credit plans
to get you approved faster, look for home Loans by

(22:11):
Jen on the Facebook, and secure the keys to your
new home with Jennifer Conley.

Speaker 26 (22:16):
Andrew, what do you see?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
I think for you and Yoda tonight, I think one
key for them is to get the passing game going
a little bit more. We know what their running game
is capable of the offensive line it is fantastic. Coodi
Briden is a great running back. They actually get Ty
Woods back Tonight who's been dealt with some injuries the
past couple of years, and they are really high on him.
We know what their running game is capable of, and

(22:39):
their passing game is capable of so much more than
they've shown. And so when you're talking about, you know,
a big clash next week, when you're talking about looking
forward to the playoffs, you need to be able to
win in more than one way, right, So get the
passing game going for Adena, I think it's it's you've
got to get creative, right, you want to shorten this game.
But that's a tall ask of a young offensive line

(23:01):
against that defense in front of you and the other
to say, hey, let's go get three or four yards
every single time we run, right, So get creative. Use
motion in different ways, jet sweeps, wide receiver screen is
running back screens, anything to get the defense having to
think about more than one thing. That's how you're gonna
hang onto the ball and hopefully shorten this game.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
And I think we've already seen that happen here tonight
because Adena actually won a coin toss and they chose
to get the ball, and the last time you or
not are here, Adena took the opening kickoff ninety yards
by for a touchdown. So I think that's maybe what
coach gott Hurt has in mind. Maybe get off to
a quick lead here and see how things go. But yeah,

(23:42):

(27:26):
and Lou Postage.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Welcome back to Adena High School word tonight. It's Military
Appreciation night and the Adena Warriors we'll be wearing the
camouflage uniforms with the looks like a Navy blue lettering
and Navy blue numbers, so that may be a little
harder to see later on this game goes on, but
we'll try to do our best. They're wearing their blue

(27:52):
pants and their blue helmets for the Union Yed of Sherman's.
They are decked out in their traveling uniforms.

Speaker 26 (27:59):
White.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
It's some striping on his shoulders, some yellow or should
say gold and purple striping. You got white helmets there
and also some gold pants and purple and white striping.
So they will be kicking off and we know Andrew
their kicker is fantastic. School record forty three yard field

(28:23):
gold last week, Liam Matthey, and he has put I
wrote this stat down as I was looking in there.
I believe he has put touchbacks fourteen times.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Yeah, it's impressive.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
So Joey Francis and I believe the other one back
there is Fisher Shaw for the Adena Warriors. And we
saw Fisher Shop run one back last time we were here.
And let's see what Uniota does if they try to
kick it deep to those guys or try to do
something a little different. As Matthey approaches, of all, his

(29:00):
is deep and that is going to come down around
the eight yard line, and that is Joey Francis that
picks that up. See it's already hard to see you
out there, so Joey Francis brings it up to about
the twenty yard line where the Adena Warriors are going
to start their first possession here on offense, when we
look at the Adena offense, they are led by quarterback

(29:21):
Ethan Elick, running back Hunter Williams, and also Grady Hayden.
That offensive line is Clayton Pauley, David Warner, Lee Sowers,
Chuck Sacks, Hour, and Carson neutral tight end is Colton Garrison,
and your whiteouts are Joey Francis n Fisher Shaff.

Speaker 26 (29:41):
We come out with.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Three wide receivers out here to the right, Elick in
the pistol formation, and I believe that is Grady next
to him.

Speaker 26 (29:49):
I believe Grady gets a ball, he's going.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Straight up the middle and he's going to get you
good yarded jar on first down all the way down
to probably the twenty eight yard line.

Speaker 26 (29:58):
So we'll give him again an eight.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
It's a good sign for the Warriors. If you can
establish that round game, especially inside, it's gonna open up
a lot of different options.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
So again second and two now for the Warriors, when
we look at the defense of Uniodo and the Warriors,
they're going to take their time here. Offensively, you see
that defensive line of Jacob rennerd Kwan, James, Bryce Jarvis,
and Luke Howard. Their linebackers are Judah Zikafuz, David Long
and Cody Brayden. Look like Elik right up the middle.

(30:30):
It may have been a little fumble on there. It
may be Unioda football and it is.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
Must have been a fumble on that snap or whatever.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
So Unyodo gets the opportunity to get a takeaway right
away and they take advantage of it. They're going to
get first in ten around the thirty yard line for
their opening possession.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Well, this is what you can't have happened. If you're
at Dina. You have to hang on to the football.
Can't give Unyoda any extra any extra possessions.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
So again Unioda comes out on all offense. You see
Cody Brayden in the backfield. He's got fifty seven carries
six hundred and eighty four yards on the season so far.
He's next in the backfield to Isaac cooy cooy awaits
a snap, goes back to pass looking down deep.

Speaker 26 (31:14):
He slipped a little bit.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
He's going to his left trying to find an open
and almost caught there deep by That was number twenty
four Jackson zichifuse so great effort there by Jackson and
good good job of getting extra time by Isaac Kor.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah kind of you know, moved around the pocket there
to create that extra time. Really good play by Joey
Francis to break that pass up, got there right on time.
And uh again that's another good matchup of two really
good athletes going at each other. Jackson, Zikeafuz Joey Francis.

Speaker 26 (31:45):
And again you talk about some speed.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Uniota has a lot of speed in there, running backs
hitting whiteouts. That defensive backfield at Bedina also has some speed.
So koy awaits a snap with Braiden next to him,
going to hand off the Braiden right up the middle.
He's got a lot of room, He's finding a lot
of opening, goes to the right. He's going to get
all the way to the end zone and that is
going to be a quick thirty yard touchdown run by

(32:08):
mister Cody Braden. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
They uh, you know they're gonna use beam a lot
in motion situations. They faked it to him as he
came in motion, a lot of the eyes went with him,
gave it to Braiden up the middle and created a
wide open lane.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
So a two play drive there after the turnover by
aDNA gets Uniodo on the board. They're up six to nothing,
awaiting the extra point by Liam Mathey. Judah Zikafus is
the snapper. Good snap, good kick, and we're going to
get a flag. They hold her there as Bryce Deringer,

(32:46):
so we'll see if we're going to get a rekick or.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I'm not sure what they're gonna call here, so we'll
wait on the.

Speaker 26 (32:56):
Referee to make that call.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
As a hush comes over the crowd, we're gonna get
a legal motion there on you Niodo, So that's gonna
back it up five yards and we're gonna real kick
the extra points. I don't think that's gonna bother No,
he's a mathy at all. He's got plenty of leg left.
So now from the fifteen yard line or a sixteen

(33:22):
yard line, we'll see if he makes this twenty five
yard extra point at ten little high on a snap.
Good job by Darrenger to get it down and that
extra point is good. So with ten fifty six to
go here in the first quarter, it is now you
and Yodo is seven and a Dina nothing, well, Andrew,
that was quick.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah, it was again. If you're a Dina, the thing
you have to do consistently all night his hang onto
the football. They got it taken away there, and you
can see just how prolific this offense can be. Two
plays about thirty yards touchdown.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
When you only get a good team like this thirty
yards to work with to get a score, that's going
to be hard all night long. So Adena's got to
do a better job obviously taking care of the ball
and also making a little bit harder for you, Niodo,
to gain some yardage. Yeah, and I think we'll see.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
I think Adena is going to adjust to let's make
a Yota throw the ball right because you know, Braden
in that offensive line or are a tough animal to
deal with. So we'll see if what happens there.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
All right, So Matthew's getting ready to kick the ball
off and again back deep for the Warriors is Joey
Francis and Fisher Shoff. Matthew approaches the ball, His kick
from the forty yard line travels down to the five

(34:51):
yard line where Fisher Shoff will take it. He's coming
up the right hand side. He gets all the way
up to about the twenty four yard line. Twenty five
will give him and that's where Dina will start their
second possession. Finishing up the UNIODA defense or defensive backfield
is Levi Beam, Jackson, Zikafu's Jack Wagner, and Micah Strange.

(35:11):
You also talked about Ty Woods coming back this week
for Uni Yoda.

Speaker 26 (35:16):
He's gonna split some time with Cody Braden, not only
on the.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Offensive end and running back, but also on the defensive
end at a linebacker, So we'll see him in there
as well as Cody Braden. So Italy comes under center
this one for the snap that looks like Hunter Williams
coming around the right hand side. He's going to gain
a couple gets up to the well, give him the

(35:40):
twenty eight yard line. We'll give him a gain of
three on that one. He give him, brings up a
second down and seven.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Well again, you know, two running plays to the running back,
both have created positive yards. If you're a Dina, you
know you want to continue to lean on that and
see if you can continue to work some clock and
work the ball down the field.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
So the play comes in again, Adena in no hurry
here offensively taking their time. You're gonna get three receivers
out to the left hand side. Elick in the pistol
formation with Grady next to him, fake handoff, throws quick
out to Shoff. Shoff gets the ball, he goes upfield.
He's gonna get it a gain of about three. That'll

(36:21):
bring up a third and four for the Adena Warriors.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Yeah, just a little wide receiver screen there to Shoff.
He is the kind of kid that can break that open.
So just continually getting him the ball in those situations
and hopefully he's able to break one for a big game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
We saw Unioda last week really come up on the
line of scrimmage just Daring piked in to throw the ball,
And I think that's what Adena's trying to get Unioda
to stop doing by spreading them out a little bit.
So you got one receiver out far to the left
hand side, two to the right Elik quick pass again.
This one's out to Colton Garrison and he catches. He's

(37:01):
got a first down. He's going to get all the
way up to the almost the forty yard line. Nice
little push there actually by the defense push their core
and that's going to give him a first down at
the thirty nine yard line. So nice play call there,
getting out to your big tight end.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Yeah, I think I think Colton's going to play a
big part in this offense tonight. You know, he's a
kid that gives you a physical advantage and maybe where
that isn't the case all over the field, that's something
you have to take advantage of.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yeah, that's a nice big target to throw to if
you're a quarterback. So now we've got two running backs
in the backfield with Elick, he's going to hand to Williams.
Williams coming to the right hand side, he's going to
be stopped. That's David Long coming in from his linebacker
position to stop him right at the line of scrimmage.
They're going to get him a gain of one on
that one. But a good job there of David Long

(37:47):
getting in there quick to stop that.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, David Long's gonna play. Is gonna be the kind
of the corner piece that you had a defense, and
when he gets his hands on somebody, they usually go down.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
So it brings up a second down of nine for
the Warriors right at their own forty yard line. Again,
beautiful night here for high school football and week number six.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Perfect on the.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Weather this Friday, same story, Eli quick pass out. I
believe that is a shoff out there to the left
hand side, and again a good job by the Unioda
defensive a quickly attacking the ball.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Francis on the cast there. Yeah, they're they're doing a
good job of getting the ball to their playmakers. Then
a little off target on a couple of these wide
receiver screens, which makes the receiver have to go backwards
before they can go forwards. So see if they can
get that cleaned up.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
In a sense, it's like a long handoff, and anytime
you take a while to get a handoff, that allows
a defense to react, and that's what Unioda does best.
React there very quick Elik in the backfield, he's rolling
to his right, he's looking for a man, he's got him.
And again great job there by Jackson Zickafouse of closing

(39:03):
in quickly on shof that is going to bring up
a fourth down and seven for the a Deena Warriors,
And it looks like we see the punting unit come
on again. This is probably not a good area of
the field for you to go forward on fourth down,
especially fourth and seventh.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
No, but I think there's some positives there to take
away if you're a dean on that drive. They were
able to complete some passes, have some positive runs. You
can just build on that and do those things a
little bit better next time. You're gonna put yourself in
a position to have some sustained drives.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
So we got Cameron Stoops back for the punt, and well,
now here's a problem. No boy, Cameron Stoops had some
equipment issues and now they're going to tell me he
has to come off the fields. So that is now
going to bring on their Placekicker Blake Coddles. He is
now going to punt away Levi Beam and Jackson sickamfuse

(39:59):
deep for the Shermans. Caddles punt is going to be
fielded by Jackson Zick who's on the run. He caught
it at the thirty five. He gets up to the forty,
goes backwards steps out of bounce. So he made it
all the way up to about the forty four and
then he went backwards to the thirty nine is where
he will go out of bounce.

Speaker 26 (40:18):
He went a long way for very many yards.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
That was a long run, but good job.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Of coming up and attacking the ball, not allowing him
to hit the ground and roll.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Yeah, really good, jew let's that go that. That's probably
a net negative of another fifteen yards or so, So
certainly a good job by Jackson.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
So the Union offense now on the field, we did
not get their offensive line. That is Bright, Bryce Jarvis,
Glenn Stottridge, Landon Caruth, Dylan Stanley, and Donzell Newland is
the offensive line for the Union out of Sherman's coy
turned looks like he was going to hand off to
Cody Braiden.

Speaker 26 (40:57):
But we're going to get a.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
All start, all start on Unioda and that's going to
back them up five yards. That's one of the things
Unioda has been doing, shooting themselves in a foot basically
on their offensive possessions.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Yeah, and again, you know, for them, a lot of
what they're working on getting better at are things that
are going to benefit them down the line. And when
you're playing a really good team in the playoffs, you
can't have those kinds of penalties.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
So also, you, as I said, are Cody Brayden, David
Long in the back of it. We'll see ty Woods
back there as well. Jackson Zickafuse Levi being Jack Welsh
and Judah Zickafous as the receivers hand off on end
around to Jackson Zickafous and boy, you got ahead of
steam going around the right hand side. He's going to
get up the field for about a quick twenty yard

(41:47):
game for a first down into a Dina territory at
the forty five yard line.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Well, the offensive line did a really good job of
sealing off the outside. Jack Welch gave a great block
on the outside from the wide receiver position, and when
Jackson has that kind of a hole, he's going to
cover some ground quickly.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
You always like to see those wide receivers making blocks
out there when they're not getting the ball thrown to.
So good job thereby mister Welsh hand off the Braiden.
Braiden tries to go over here to the left hand side,
makes one guy miss and he's going to get tackled
inside the forty five yard line down to the forty
three yard line, So I bring up second down and

(42:24):
seven Coach Hoops told us this, they're going to try
to play a little faster tonight, try to get some
tempo going.

Speaker 3 (42:29):
And that's what they're doing. They're getting right back to
the line here.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
Yeah, he wants to keep us on our toes up
here is what he wants to do. Koy out to
Zikafou's quick pass to the right hand side. Zikafoo's made
it a few guys miss, still going up the right
hand side, and he's brought out of bounds. That's almost
like flag football. They're trying to grab his flag and
he's getting away from them. Gets upfield for a quick
i'd say twelve yard game.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Yeah, he made several guys miss on that play. If
you're a DNA, you've got to get guys to the
football and you've got to bring him down first chance.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
He yet up to the line of scrimmage. Is Unioto
Braiden next to Koy in the backfield. He one receiver
to the right, one to the left hand off the Braiden.
Braiden finds some room over there on the right hand side,
cuts it out to the sideline, still going inside the
ten yard line. He's going to be brought out a
bounce at about the six yard line. So nice run

(43:22):
there by Cody Braiden, and again that right hand side
of the offensive line, landing Caruth the center, Dylan Stanley
the right garden, Donzel Nolan the right tackle.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
But Cody's good. Braiden's a kid that could go get
five with a five to six yards every time with
the b offensive line. But with this offensive line, he's
going to create a lot of problems.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
And that's Cody right up the middle for the touchdown.
So that'll be a six yard touchdown run by Cody
Braiden for the second touchdown of the night for him,
and the second touchdown the Knight for the Uniota Shermans.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
Well, the interior of Adina's defensive line is going to
have to start, you know, finding ways to close off
some of those holes because right now he's not having
any trouble.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Matthy on for the extra point attempt as they run
a person on here on the end, he wasn't ready.
He's out there now again. Judah Zikafusa snapper Bryce Deringer.
The hold and the kick by Matthey is another flag
on the extra point attempt. They're two for two flags

(44:32):
and again I think that's going to be a false
start by Unioto and the referee will back them up
five yards.

Speaker 3 (44:39):
Again. Part of me wonders if Matthew's just telling them
to do that, just to make a little more difficult
on himself.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
But you know in the NFL they back it up
to what the they kick from the thirty thirty five
yard line.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
Yep, they do that's as it's no gimme yep.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
Make those extra points really exciting. I think the Browns
would like to have a from week one. I think
they're still complaining about that. Yeah, so here we go again,
second attempt here at this extra point snap hold and
kick is up and good for Liam Matthew to score.

(45:19):
Now with five forty four to go in the first
quarter is Uniota fourteen Adeena nothing. You're listening to the

Speaker 2 (46:38):
As we get ready for the kickoff here by Leam Matthey.
Just a reminder to find the scoreboard on our website
WKKJA dot com and look and find the Mill City
Apparel scoreboard for all your scores of tonight's game, So
fourteen nothing. As we get ready to get another kickoff

(47:01):
here by Uniodo and again Matthew has done a wonderful
job on his kickoffs as well.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Well. He does a really good job of, you know,
getting it high in the air to give his his
coverage team a chance to get down the field quick.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
We swen down to the four yard line for shoff.
He brings it back coming on the right hand side,
and that coverage team is going to tackle him before
he gets to the twenty yard line. I know that's
something you're talking about on special teams. Hey get down
there and tackle before he gets it the twenty and
they did it there.

Speaker 26 (47:34):
It's going to be first LI ten from the nineteen.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
And Judah Zikafus just blew up somebody that was trying
to block him that that didn't look like it felt
very good, all right?

Speaker 2 (47:44):
So first time I see Ty Woods out there at
the linebacker position as we had talked about. So good
to see him back in the lineup for the Unioda Shermans.

Speaker 3 (47:56):
Yeah, he was the starting running back to start last
year and got hurt the very first game. It's had
some more injury injuries this season.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
Helick quick hand off to Grady I believe right up
the left hand side, and he's going to gain a
one there. So as the clock continues to run and
get close to the five minute mark here in the
first quarter. Just so remind you. This first quarter is
brought to you by Home Loans by Jen so Adina

(48:31):
comes out of the huddle, second down and nine from
their twenty yard line, two running backs behind Elik, who's
under center.

Speaker 26 (48:38):
He's going to turn hand off.

Speaker 2 (48:39):
To Williams as he tries to find an opening on
the right in side. He does break through a little bit.
He's going to get up a gain of about seven
on that play. That'll bring up a third down and two.
Now you get to the third and two, that's much
more manageable.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
Absolutely. Williams is only a sophomore, but a really strong kid.
Stays low to the ground and right there he was
hit probably three or four yards before he went down,
but did a good job of driving his legs and
keeping it moving forward.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Yeah, when you look in the backfield for the Warriors,
it's a sophomore in the freshman back there, so again
very young in the offensive backfield. I believe that's a
snap right to Elick. Elik tries to come over here
to the right hand side. He's not going to get
the first down.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
I don't believe no. Nioa's defense line did a good
job of getting through and not allowing any space for
Eathan to get through there.

Speaker 2 (49:32):
So now it's going to be fourth and one. So
decision time here for coach Hurt and the Warriors. Again,
you're from your own twenty eight yard line here with
four minutes ago in the first quarter. He's going to
send in a play with Elick.

Speaker 3 (49:45):
Yeah, we'll see if this is to draw him off side,
but even if it's not, I don't hate the idea
of going forward here. Your defense has struggled to slow
down Unioa's offense, so you know, take the chance here
and see if you can keep your offense on the
field for a while.

Speaker 2 (50:00):
Adena quickly up the line, quick snap, and it looks
like he's going to get the first down.

Speaker 26 (50:07):
So good job there.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
I think that was a quick stap to Elick and
went straight ahead for the first down. He's gonna gain
a two and again first down for the Dana Warriors
with three thirty four to go here in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (50:20):
Any any time you experience success right now, as Adena's
offense it builds confidence, and so put your kids in
a position there like Coach Fort just did to get
a big first down, and that's what they.

Speaker 34 (50:33):
Were able to do.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
So as the Warriors break the huddle, Helick fumbles a snap,
tries to throw it out. There's not going to have
any time to do that as the Uniota Sherman's quickly
in the backfield, and that's going to be a loss
of at least one maybe two on that play. And
again that fumble snap sort of blew that play up. Yeah,
it was gonna be a wide receiver screen.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
He looked out that he dropped it, picked it up,
tried to look out there was there, and just cut
his losses and ran up the middle.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
So, as I said, with the sun setting here in
the west, the field here is a north and south
field for the Indena Warriors. Warriors going left to right
on your radio dial. We had a wonderful pregame meal tonight.
Thank you to one Andrew dead Elick. Back to the past.

(51:28):
He's looking now, he's gonna scramble. He's got some room
right up the middle of the field. He's gonna make
some positive yardage out of it. If they're not give
him a game of about five. On that play, it's
going to bring up a third down and we'll call
it six.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
Ethan's a mobile kid, and he's strong. He's not afraid
of contact once he gets it out of the pocket
and gets upfield and made some good things happen there.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Yeah, and again the defensive ends were really coming hard
up the field, so they were coming around the end
that had some openings in the middle of the field,
and he took advantage of it. So the Wars break
the huddle. Elick goes under center, quick hand off right
up the middle to I believe that's Williams here, and

(52:14):
that's going to get a first down. So that's going
to pick up five on that play, being first down,
Warriors here a nice little drive.

Speaker 26 (52:20):
Here, yeacking first down.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
I'm really impressed right now with a Dina's offensive line
creating some holes. The running backs are running hard dru them.
I thought that would have been a really toll task
coming into this game against this defensive front of you Yodo,
but right now they're doing a good job of creating
some advantages.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
So it brings the first and ten on their own
forty two yard line for the Warriors.

Speaker 26 (52:45):
As Alik is now.

Speaker 3 (52:46):
In the pistol formation, good time for a play action.
Maybe he rolls to his.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
Left, he's going to get brought down quickly in the backfield.
That is number fifty seven Bryce Jarvis, who got back
there almost untouched and as soon as Elick turned around
to throw the ball, he was in his face.

Speaker 3 (53:03):
Yeah, there's just no time there to do anything. And
that's a heartbreaker first down to lose ten yards.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Yeah, so loss of about nine on that play, bring
up a second down and nineteen And as you said,
that's just a tough thing to overcome for a team
that's you know, going four or five yards of play up.
Now you're really behind the eight ball having to gain
nineteen here for a first down. Elick in the backfield
gets a snap hand off to Grady. Grady's going to

(53:36):
go around the right hand side. He's going to get
a couple and that is going to bring up again,
I say, Grady, that's Grady Hayden. And that's going to
be the end of the first quarter. And as this
first quarter winds down, your score is the Unioda Sherman's
fourteen and the Adeno Warriors nothing.

Speaker 26 (53:59):
You're listening to the.

And this is hometown high school football coverage on ninety
four Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (55:13):
As we come back, Alix back to pass. He throws
a short pass up to Grady Hayden. He makes the catch,
He's only going to gain about one on that play,
and that's going to bring up a fourth down here
for the Warriors. That's a fourth down and fifteen on
their own forty two yard line.

Speaker 26 (55:33):
One thing to I'm sorry, thirty six yard line.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
Yeah, one thing to keep an eye on here. Lou
Is Adina loves to roll Ethan Elick out of the
pocket and get him on the move, but with the
way that Unioda's defensive ends are coming so hard up
the field, I'm not sure that's going to be there.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
So back to punt this time is Cameron Stoops. He'd
got whatever equipment issues he had fixed and now he's
on to punt the back deep as Jackson Zickafus and
Levi Beam and that is Zikafus who's gonna take it
down the.

Speaker 26 (56:08):
Left hand side.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
He's going to gain about twenty fifteen yards on that
run back and that's going to get the ball into
Adena territory. It's a nice run back again. Good job
of coming up and fielding that on the fly for
Jackson Zickafus.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
Well, and whoever the gunner was on the opposite side
of the field. For a Diena. They came so far
inside that it just left that entire side of the
field open. Jackson Zikafus took advantage of it, got a
really nice return there.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
So first down in ten for the Uniodos Sherman's on
the Adena Warriors forty eight yard line.

Speaker 26 (56:43):
Uniodo is going to break the huddle.

Speaker 2 (56:45):
Two receivers out here to the right, one to the left,
and we still see Cody Braden in the backfield with
Isaac Coy.

Speaker 3 (56:55):
And here we go.

Speaker 26 (56:57):
Koy awaits a snap.

Speaker 2 (57:01):
Motion here, fake handoff and going down deep for koy
and that is I believe.

Speaker 26 (57:10):
Uh is that Harsha.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
That was Lake and Langofflacol and Langoff again going down
the left hand side on a flates or straight fly
pattern down the sideline. A koy overthrew him.

Speaker 3 (57:24):
Yeah, he had him open, just overthrew him by a
step or two.

Speaker 2 (57:29):
So just a quick reminder fans, tonight's game will be
available for replay starting tomorrow morning. Click WKKJ dot com
and look for our podcast page or search for w
KKJ on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you listen to podcast.
Koy awaits a snap again motion by Harsha. This time,

(57:50):
Corey keeps it straight up the middle, finds a lot
of running room. He's going down. He's inside thirty to
the twenty five, inside the twenty five to about the
twenty three yard line, and so again, nice job of
are faking the handoff, and it looks like we're going
to get a flag on the end of that play.
That's a hold all the way down the field there,

(58:12):
I believe.

Speaker 3 (58:12):
Yeah, no need for it, really, he had a great
run going and at that point, just let him get
all the artis you can.

Speaker 26 (58:20):
So the question here is where the flag is thrown.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
It looks like it still may be a first down
because it's ten yards from the point of the foul.
So as they take it back ten yards, I think
he's still going to get a first.

Speaker 26 (58:32):
Down out of this.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Yep, that's correct, So we'll give him a first down
down to now the thirty six yard lines. It'll be
first and ten from there for the Uniono Shermans. Following
tonight's game, It's Friday Night Live, joined host Ten Skags
for a look at all the scores across the region
and interviews with coaches. Listen after the game until midnight

(58:56):
for Friday Night Live, presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing.
Here on ninety four Country and Buckeye Country. Hand off
to Jack Welsh around the left hand side. Good job
of getting up the field there by Jack, and he's
going to get a nice sixteen yard game, I believe.

Speaker 34 (59:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (59:13):
Just a quick little jet sweep there to Jack coming
off the edge and made some good things happen.

Speaker 2 (59:20):
That's like the fourth or fifth guy we've seen get
that handoff. So that's something you know you put on
film that Hey, it's not just one guy we're gonna
run this play for, it's multiple guys.

Speaker 3 (59:30):
Yeah, they've been using a lot of different receivers tonight.
Some guys we didn't see it until late in the
game last week, like Harsha and Langoff. They've been hitting
some early run here tonight. So you need know.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
With a first down inside the twenty yard line at
the eighteen koy in the backfield who waits to snap
you as ty Wood's next to him. Now he's going
to roll out to his right. He finds David Long.
I believe David's gonna get it caught and he's going
to get into the end zone.

Speaker 26 (59:57):
For a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (59:58):
For the Uniota Shermans, it'll be an eighteen yard pass
from Isaac Coy to David Loan.

Speaker 26 (01:00:06):
For another touchdown.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Yeah, this is what you want to see if you're
in Yodo, being able to move the ball in different ways,
not just relying on, you know, the straight running game
up the middle, but getting the ball to different guys
in different ways, and that just makes it so much
harder for the defense to prepare for.

Speaker 26 (01:00:23):
So the extra point here by Matthew.

Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
We'll see if we can't get a clean one off
here first snap, hold and kick, and that is good.
So the score now stands the Unioda Sherman's twenty one
in the Adena Warriors.

Speaker 26 (01:00:41):
Nothing well.

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Next week, I am going to take some time off
after I have officially be retired on October first from
my education job. So I'm going to be taking some
time off, and Andrew's going to continue and step into
my role and joining him next week will be my
son Trey, So Trey Postede will step in next Wereek
and Trey. I appreciate it allowing me to go away

(01:01:05):
for some time and you stepping in to help out.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
Andrew. Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun.

Speaker 25 (01:01:09):
Next week we may not have as much fun as
my dad will be on a cruise, but it's gonna
be a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
It's got a really good matchup. Yeah, next week, I've
gotta step into the big boys chair. You know, my
job's pretty easy right now, but next week I gotta
actually carry the water a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
So again I appreciate guys stepping up and allowing me
to take some time off.

Speaker 26 (01:01:30):
It's always good.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Now I can take time off whenever I will ever
you can, and it's a good feeling after thirty four
years in the education world to step away whenever and
just enjoy Trey and his daughter Palmer Jean. I get
to spoil that one a little bit too, so it'll

(01:01:51):
be fun. But again, Trey, we appreciate you stepping in
next week, and I'm going to help us out. Oh
that's a fumble there by Francis. He goes back and
picks it up at around the five yard line. He's
trying to get outside. Still trying to get outside. He's
going to be run out of bouncing about the six.
So again, Matthew does such a good job of getting
that ball so high in the ear on those kickoffs.

(01:02:11):
It's really hard as a receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Yeah, I mean it feels like as soon as you
catch it or as soon as you touch it, the
the coverage is on you and it just makes it
so hard to create any advantage.

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
So Trey, this is your first time seeing the Union,
you know, suremans, this is going to be a team
that next week are in a We's play the Zaint
Trace Pioneers. What's your first impression of this Saint Trace
or this Unioda team.

Speaker 25 (01:02:34):
Yeah, you guys have been touching on it. Unioda is
very quick. That's just you know, very apparent to seeing
them going against this Adena team.

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
Especially on defense.

Speaker 25 (01:02:43):
What's they're on right now is their defensive ends really
get up the field and have really gotten in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
Have not made either Elik being comfortable back there.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
So Elik awaits a snap here. We're gonna get some motion.
But it looks like somebody in the interior may have
moved for the Warriors, so that's going to back them up.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
The team.

Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Speed for Unioto is something that's really jumps out on
film and things like that, and as you mentioned, Trade
the defensive line where that speed is also for the Shermans.
So it looks like you're gonna go half the distance
to the goal line. Maybe what a yard they moved.

Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
The ball back. Yeah, there wasn't much room to go back,
so it'll be well, I guess they moved it. It
was about four yards, okay, so they moved.

Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
To four yards fourth or first and fourteen Now for
the Wears inside their five yard line here with ten
h four to go in before half. This second quarter
is brought to you by shine on Chilicothy dot Org.

Speaker 26 (01:03:47):
So I believe that was show off as he comes.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
On a little end around there, and again it was
the interior part of that defensive line for Uniota that
gets inside and.

Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
Gets that stop before it got started. Yeah, you know,
this is a tough spot for a Dina again because
you're already behind the sticks. Got a penalty on first
down that you can't afford, and so now you're backed
up against your own end zone. You've got to try
to do something creative to get your guys in the
bald space and just in a tough spot.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
Quick hand off up the middle of there, and I
believe that was Hayden as he's trying to get some
positive you already, jar I think he's going to get
back to the rid general line screaming. So we'll give
him a game of four. That'll be up a third
down and ten.

Speaker 26 (01:04:42):
Again.

Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
You might disagree with me, Lou, but if you get
a substantial gain on this play, I'm not sure you
don't just go forward again. Just keep giving your offense
chances because your defense is not showing the ability to
do much of slowing down of this uniona offense.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
So the Adena Warriors here with the third and eleven
officially Eli moving people around to get him in the
right formation, gets it quick hand off up the middle
to Hayden and he gets We'll get him again a
two on that one and again that's going to bring
up a fourth down and eight.

Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
Yeah, probably too a little too far at this distance
to give a go.

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
So again, going back deep for u Niota is going
to be Jackson, Zickafus and Levi Beam again, two guys
very capable of taking him back to the house at
any time. It looks like Cameron stoops back to Kit
or punt for the Adena Warriors as he stands inside
his end zone to get this ball off, and the

(01:05:50):
snap is good punt, low punt again, Jackson's sizafous on
the run. He gets it, he goes to the left
hand side. He tried to deliver some blows there as
he tried to get forward, and he's going to get
a return of about seventeen yards on that, all the
way down inside the twenty five yard lineup the Adena Warriors.

Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
Yeah again, just all kinds of space when he catches
that punt, and with his speed, he's gonna be able
to get up the field.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
So the Shermans with another short fear on the offensive
end here as they take over just outside let's call
it the twenty two yard line. Koy in the backfield
looks like Ty Woods next to him, little motion. They
handed off the Levi beam. That's going to be Woods

(01:06:41):
on the right hand side. Woods is able to take
it for a positive gain of let's give him four
on the carry, brings up a second down and six.

Speaker 26 (01:06:51):
So Ty Woods with his first carry of the night.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
I believe Andrew, Yeah, that is the first time we've
seen him. I'm sure they're gonna work him an even
more here as we go along the this game and
the Sherman's break the huddle.

Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Jackson Zikafu's out here to the right, looks like Jack
Welsh and Levi Bean to the left hand side. Coy
in the backfield, await to snap motion by bean bake
canned off the bean gives you Ty Woods and he's
going around the left hand side and he's going to
get all the way to the end zone for his
first touchdown of the year, a seventeen yard touchdown run

(01:07:31):
by ty Woods, and that will now take the score
to twenty seven to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Well, you can see why they're so high on him.
That was a pretty explosive run from from ty Woods.
It's it's quite the luxury to be able to go
to somebody like that. As you're back up and.

Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Again that left hand side of the line, Bryce Jarvis,
Glenn or Glenn Stottridge and landing Caruth making that whole
matthy on for the extra point of ten for Uniodo.

Speaker 26 (01:08:06):
And the kick is up and good.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
So your score now stands the Unioda Germans twenty eight
Unioto nothing.

Speaker 26 (01:08:14):

Speaker 3 (01:09:29):
Matthew with the kick.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
This one's going to go inside the ten yard line
again at the three, here comes shaff He's coming to
the right left hand side, quickly down for the Uniodo.
Sherman's that number twenty one, I believe. Jacob Brenner quickly
down the field. I believe also is at number one
or eleven, number one. Brady Carshaw also down there as well.

(01:09:57):
So good job of getting down the field. Worry his
first attempt from about the uh, they're putting it at
the twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
Yard line, I believe. Yeah, this is a This is
like a place and a time in the game where
if you're a Dina, you've got to see some success.
Right twenty eight nothing, You probably put yourself behind the
eight ball, but you want to build something here and
the rest of us half.

Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
So around the SBC tonight, other games you have Westfall
at Zane, Trace, Payt Valley's at Piketon, and Huntingdon at Southeastern.
Also you have Tillicathy is traveling and opening up their
conference season to Miami. Trace Marietta is at Circleville and
Logan Elm at Liberty Union Fisher Shop takes the snap.

(01:10:45):
I believe it is a loose ball. Are we going
to call a fumbley? And I think that might have
been a mishandled snap. And it looks like Unioto because
number twenty one Jacob Brenner came out of there at
the ball. So it is going to be a turnover
for the Warriors that I'll bring up a first and
tent right at the ten yard line for the Unioto

(01:11:07):
Sherman's Well, have any updates stray on any scores around
the area?

Speaker 25 (01:11:14):
Yeah, I just see West Falls up seven to nothing
at the end of the first quarter.

Speaker 26 (01:11:19):
Got still in the second quarter, not.

Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
Yet the halftime, so still seven to nothing west Fall.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
And again, Andrew, you and I talked about that game,
how that could be a very good game, and we
were really impressed with west Fall. Corey back to pass,
looking deep for Jack Welsh and he throws it.

Speaker 26 (01:11:36):
Out of the end zone.

Speaker 2 (01:11:37):
So a little too far on that pass as Isaac
Correy was looking for his wide receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
Yeah, I had one on one coverage out there on
the outside with you know, Jackson. Good athlete, definitely gets
his athleticism from his mother's side, not his father's side. Sorry, John,
but yeah, I took a shot there and just through
it where only his guy could get it, and it
was just a little too far. Well do they even
play football in Iowa? He would like to believe that

(01:12:04):
they do. Okay, yeah, okay, yeah, I'll just check it.

Speaker 26 (01:12:07):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
So as Unioto now first, still second and ten or
second in goal, I should say Isaac Kurey waits a snap,
he's going.

Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
To hand off.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
I believe that is number twenty five for the unit
of suremans as Judah Zickafuse, and they give him the touchdown.

Speaker 26 (01:12:23):
He gets all the way in for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (01:12:25):
I think that was thirty five thirty five Henry Ballette.
All right, so we'll give that to Henry Bullett. Sorry
about that.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
So Henry Villette quickly right up the middle for a touchdown.
That is six thirty six to go here in the
second quarter, and that now makes it thirty four to nothing,
awaiting the point after attempt.

Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
See, I was giving Zickafuse a touchdown. Run there, he'll
take it. I'm sure, I'm sure he will.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
But again, nice run there by Henry and the extra
point is that a same kicker Yep, Liam Matthews out
there kicks and now that brings the score to thirty
five to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
Well, if you're a Dina right here, you know this
is kind of the point in the game where you
got to make the decision out right as players. Are
you gonna lay down and just let you know to
do what they want to do? Or are you going
to fight and compete them and try to get something
positive going.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
So we'll see, we'll see which way they go here Again,
ninety four Country is not the only place to hear
tonight's action. iHeartRadio brings you four games each week across
the region on our family have radio stations here in
southern Ohio. For a schedule and links to listen to
those games on free iHeart happ click on high school
sports coverage on w kk J, and again, if you're

(01:13:48):
looking for scores, go to our website WKKJ dot com
and look for those scores on the Mill City Apparel scoreboard.
Around other areas, volleyball, with four games left to play
in league playoff, leave Adena has a two game lead
on I Believe that's Juneoto in volleyball, so that'll be

(01:14:10):
wrapping up here in the next couple of weeks cross country.
Their league meet will be coming up here October eleventh.
That'll be down at Southeastern Lee and Matthey with the kickoff.

Speaker 26 (01:14:21):
He gets it all the.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Way down this time about the ten yard line. Again,
fumbled there by Joey Francis. He picks it up, trying
to find positive yard He's does find something along the
left hand side. He's going to be leveled at a bounce.
Was that Matthew on the tackle?

Speaker 36 (01:14:37):
It was?

Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
It was? It looks like there's a flag down over
there too.

Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
It might have been a laid hit maybe, but again,
nice speed shown there by Joey. Fans to find some
openings along the left hand side over there, or right
hand side, I should say, along the uniodo sideline.

Speaker 26 (01:14:53):
But man, what a hit delivering by the kicker.

Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
Yeah, that was impressive. He certainly wasn't afraid of that contact.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
It reminds me of Drew basil One Chilikathi alumnia and
kicker at Ohio State. So again, as we are have
we come up with what that flag is, are they
still over there discussing that?

Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
They're still discussing referees over there on the far end.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
I don't know if the coach Hoops is involved in
that discussion over there. I think he may be pleading, hey, listen,
that was our kicker.

Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
Let him have it. Yeah.

Speaker 26 (01:15:33):
So anyways, it's six twenty eight to go here in
the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Again around other sports, boys golf, you had sectional here
this past week and we got two teams out of
the boys that go on to the districts.

Speaker 26 (01:15:47):
That as Westfall, who is a league.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Champ, they will move on to their district as well
as the Adina Warriors they qualified as a team. Looks
like we're gonna get penalty on both sides here, so
we'll see where they end up with the ball. But
also some individuals to individuals from Unyoto call it or Callaway,
Ratliffe and Sam Lewis will go on to the district

(01:16:11):
match and also from Huntington Taylor or Tucker Taylors will
move on to the district match. In girls golf, five
teams out of the SVC are going to go on
to the districts Unioto, Adena, Piked in Huntington and league
Champsaine Trace will move on. Westfall had an individual I

(01:16:32):
didn't see the name, but they do have an individual
moves on to the next round of districts. So again
the SVC has done well as they start into the postseason.

Speaker 26 (01:16:44):
So now we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
Move the ball back and forth up the field. Yeah,
it looked like a block.

Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
In the back from a Dina down close to the
end zone, so they took it back there first and
then added on the fifteen for the late hit.

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
About all right, So after all that, it is going
to be a Dina ball and we're going to get
it right around the twenty one yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
So first intended Dina was six twenty eight to go.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Here in the first or first half, thirty five nothing
Uni Yoto is the score.

Speaker 26 (01:17:18):
So again offsetting penalties.

Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
One was during the play, one was after the play,
and that's why they had to mark off the different penalties.
So Eli comes out, he's going to be underneath center,
takes a snap, hands off to I believe that is
Grady Hayden. He's going to get a positive gain of

(01:17:39):
nine yards, So quick hand off to Grady as he
went right up the.

Speaker 26 (01:17:42):
Field or was that Eli?

Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
He just kept it, Yeah, he just kept it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
So here is where those military appreciation jardies riddily get
hard to see out there, and we'll try to do
our best up here of making sure we know who
has the ball. But again, positive yard is your brings
up a second down and one for the Warriors.

Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
Yeah, and again this is a time to compete. It's
a time to figure out what you got, who you got,
and go out and fight for it.

Speaker 26 (01:18:14):
To Elik in the pistol formation back to pass.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
And he is swallowed up and that is going to
be a loss of about five yards on that play.

Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
And again it's just the.

Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
Pure speed of Unioto who gets back there really quick
before he can get anything set up.

Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
Yeah. Yeah, it's going to have to be quick decisions
back there. It's not gonna have a lot of time
to sit back there and survey the field.

Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
Yeah, they haven't been able to do any of those
quick passes that they did early in the game to
the outside. So see a lot of different people running
into the game now for uni or for a Dina.

Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
It's like Lenston Metzker at wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
So Elik under center, now turn hands off the hunter.
Hunter is going to try to get to the outside.
Over here on the left hand side, he's going to
be brought down short of the first down, going to
bring up a fourth down in two for the Warriors,
as a clock is under five minutes to go here in.

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
The second quarter.

Speaker 26 (01:19:21):
Yeah, you know, typically this.

Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Is not a go for it situation, but at this
point in the game, what do you have to lose?
Give me your offense a chance to move the sticks.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
So Elik brings into play from the sideline. So again
it's going to be fourth down and a lull one
we'll say almost two from the thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
Twenty nine yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
We're gonna get a false start on a Dina So everyone,
even you Nioto basically had everyone within two or three
yards of the line of scrimmage there and a Diena
was the one who flinched. So drop them back five
yards and Tunny in unit runs onto the field.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Yeah. Again, those those penalties that you just you can't
have against a team like this.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
So Cameron stoops back to punt for the Adena Warriors,
and back deep Levi Beam and Jackson Zikafus for Juneotto,
and they stand at their thirty five yard line. So
as the referees try to find the right place to
put the ball down. Finally they do, and now we

(01:20:40):
get the clock moving with fourth down and six stoops
back deep to punt. Waits a snap, got it, kick
us off and coming up is Levi Beam. He makes
the fair catch and catches it at the forty eight
yard line of Unioto, where they will take over. Here

(01:21:03):
with three forty nine to go, you're listening to the accurate, hitting,
polling and plumbing game of the week for ninety four
country w KKJ.

Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country w KKJA.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
As we come back to play, Unioto's Isaac Corey had
the worst thing ever. He turns and no one was
there to hand off, so he started running around and
actually threw the ball down the field on a running play.
All of his linemen were downfield blocking and that would
be illegal person downfield, so that'll be a penalty on Uniodo.

Speaker 26 (01:22:39):
That'll bring up a second down.

Speaker 40 (01:22:43):
And ten.

Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
It was declined by Adina so Coy in the backfield
motion by harsh a Tip throws it out there. That
is Levi Beam in the backfield.

Speaker 26 (01:22:56):
He gets it. He's still going on the left hand side.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
He gets down. Game of about eleven on the play.
I think that was Walker Seams. It's a good thing
you are paying attention out there for me. So Walker
SAMs with that rush for the Uniota Shermans.

Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
And Niota taken the opportunity to make some guys in
here and get some good game reps for these guys.

Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
So Cooy is still in the backfield as he awaits
a snap, Harsha in motion fumbled.

Speaker 26 (01:23:36):
That was a snap that came back touched.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
By the quarterback, touched by harsh touched by Sam's but
they were able to get on the football there for
a loss of two brings up a second down to twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
Yeah, timing was just off from the beginning there and
created a negative play.

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
So again, that's sometimes what happens when you are putting
different people in different positions that may not have practiced.
We're gonna get time out here by Uniyodo. So again,
going over some scores. As we talked about the big
game west Fall at Zane Trace, I believe that has
just gone to the half that is seven to nothing
west Fall, So low scoring game out at Zane Trace

(01:24:19):
here tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
Both teams that like to run the ball a lot. Yeah,
they're pretty much mirror images of each other. And neither
team is gonna throw it more than you know, three,
four or five times a game. They're gonna try to
establish the run and see who comes out on top.

Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
So again, next week, our game of the week the
accurate heating and pulling and plumbing. Game of the week
will be Zane Trace at Uniodo. So we will be
traveling to Uni Yodo next Friday night, where looks like
the weather forecast is going to be pretty good again
into week seven.

Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
Yeah, I looked at the next two weeks, lou and
you know you might be on a cruise but we're
gonna be here and Southern Ohio on a seventy degree
football Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
It's never a bad day on a cruise ship, all right,
Nioto getting ready to go here second and twelve on
the Adena forty three yard line.

Speaker 26 (01:25:17):
Quickly out is koy out too?

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
I believe in Braydon Harsha gets upfield for a nice
five yard game, a harsh show.

Speaker 3 (01:25:29):
Well, harsh is a kid that in the first game
of the season had a great game at Portsmouth. He's
a really good athlete and uh he's going to factor
into their offensive plans for many years to come.

Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
And again, this is a team their wide receivers got
some nice size out there to as well as speed
to throw out there too, thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:25:53):
So we have a clock issue here with I believe
they won two of six.

Speaker 26 (01:25:59):
Is that they want? Yeah, two o six to go
here in the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
It's thirty five nothing Uni Yodo as the Shermans now
have the ball. A third down and seven on the
Adena Warriors thirty seven yard line. Coy waits a snap.
He's got his roll into his right hand side looking
for somebody. Nice penetration hereby the Adena Warriors. Good job

(01:26:24):
of coming back trying to help his.

Speaker 3 (01:26:25):
Quarterback out there, going to catch on the sideline.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Jack Welsh with the catcher on the sidelines, It's going
to be short of the first down, but good job
of coming back to help his quarterback out making that catch.

Speaker 3 (01:26:37):
Yeah, did a really good job of, like you said,
working his way back and kept both feet in on
the sideline on the catch.

Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
So that'll bring up a fourth down and three at
the Adena Warriors.

Speaker 26 (01:26:50):
Thirty three yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
As there was one fifty eight to go here in
the first half, Jack Welsh and Harsha to the right
hand side.

Speaker 26 (01:27:03):
Coy in the backfield.

Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Here comes Harsha hands this went off to I believe
that's Gody Brayden in there. Coddy Braiden's gonna go out
of bounceball. We do have a flag around the area
of holding for the Shermans.

Speaker 3 (01:27:18):
Maybe not.

Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
We're gonna get holding on the Shermans, So that'll bring
up a fourth down and thirteen.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Now for Unido with one fie to go. Well again,
you know for Unyudo. Obviously that play is not going
to affect anything tonight in terms of the outcome of
the game. But those are the kinds of mistakes you
want to just get rid of so that you can
play a clean game when it matters most fans.

Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
Just a reminder, tonight's game is available for replay starting
tomorrow morning. CLICKWKKJA dot com and look for our podcast
page or search for WKKJ on the Iehea radio app
or wherever you listen to podcasts. So fourth and thirteen,
the Shermans are going for Corey, the only one in
the backfield. He goes back to pass, looking looking, rolls

(01:28:11):
to his rights, looking downfield, throws down the middle and
finds an open man. That's Harshaw. He's got the first down.
He runs back, however, and now he's going forward again.
He's going to get the first down down to about
the thirty five yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Yeah, I did a good job of just keeping his
feet alive and waiting until the last second and found
horsh over the middle.

Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
So getting a good job there by Corey of keeping
his cool in the pocket. So one twenty to go
here in the first half, first and ten, Uniodo down
at the adena twenty five yard line. Coy hands off

(01:28:54):
the Braiden. Braiden right up the middle. Good job there
of the interior part of the warrior, and I believe
that was sas Hour with that tackle, and that'll bring
up a that's a gain of about two bring up
a second down and eight as the clock runs under
the one minute mark to go here in the first half,
thirty five nothing. Unioto and Coy in the backfield with

(01:29:17):
Braiden gets a snap, fakes hand off to Braiden, tries
to throw it out here to the right hand side.
I believe that was for number four that was laying
off incomplete. Stops clock with fifty one point five seconds
to go to their in the first half for examup

(01:29:37):
a third down seventh.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Yeah, you can see here that Uniodo's really trying to
take this opportunity to get their passing game more in
rhythm and give themselves a chance to complete some passes.
Koy had completed his last three before that miss right there,
So he took a shot.

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
On that on that pass coy in the backfield with
Braiden goes back to pass looking down deep looking for
harsh shot that was broken up.

Speaker 26 (01:30:00):
I believe that's by Metzger Or is that Joey Francis.

Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Yeah, Francis had a chance, kind of jumped a split
second too early.

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Otherwise I think he had a chance to pick it
all all right, So guess what here, Andrew. We're going
to get a field goal attempt, all right? And then
Liam went over to coach and said, hey, if we
get a chance, I would like to kick a field
gold here. And let's see, we're going to be from
the it's going to be the forty three, so this

(01:30:30):
will be a forty three, No twenty eight plus ten.
That'd be a thirty eight yard thirty eight yard field goal.
So thirty eight yard field goal. We know he has
the leg for this, so Liam Matthey snap hold and
the kick. It got the distance and it is good.

(01:30:52):
So two weeks in a row we've seen Matthew make
field goals of over thirty five yards.

Speaker 26 (01:30:57):
This one's a thirty eight yard field goal.

Speaker 3 (01:30:59):
Yeah. Again, and as we've talked about almost every week.
When you have a kicker that offers that, it just
gives your offense a huge advantage again when it comes
to tight games late in the season.

Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
So Matthew now takes the score to thirty eight to nothing, uniodo,
as we are under forty seconds to go here in
the first half. Reminder here the second half we will
start with a running clock, as we have the OHSA
rule of a thirty point lead. So second half we'll

(01:31:32):
start with a running clock. And again we have that
halftime score of West Fall seven Zane trace nothing. Looks
like Circle Will is up at the half twenty one
to fourteen over Marietta. Paint Valley is trailing piked in
twenty three to nothing, and Huntington is up on Southeastern
seven nothing in the second quarter. So those are the

(01:31:58):
some of the scores around the area of tonight's game.
So Matthew to kick off once again. As he approaches
and the kick, the kick goes down to inside the
five yard line, right at the goal line, brought out
there by Francis and he's going to be brought down

(01:32:23):
at the adena. It's hard to see those numbers right
around the twenty right around the twenty yard line, so
thirty three point nine to go here in the first
half for the Adena Warriors, probably timing up for one
play here.

Speaker 3 (01:32:39):
Yeah, we'll see if they even run anything here at
this point, they just taking the air again.

Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
You will get the second half kickoff, as Adena took
the choice of taking the kickoff in the first half.
So Warriors break the huddle, Helix point under center, takes

(01:33:06):
the snap hand off to Grady Hayden and he's going
to get up a gain of about two on the play,
and that will probably be our last play of the
first half. As we wind down here, we will be
listening to the Audio Technica halftime report and then Andrew

(01:33:33):
and I will come back with some first half stats
as then we will get underway into second half. So again,
halftime here at Bosticfield at Adena High School. It is
your score Uniodo Sherman's thirty eight Adena Warriors nothing. You're
listening to the accurate Colleen Plumbing game of the week

Today's game is presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing
on ninety four Country WKKJA.

Speaker 40 (01:36:44):
It is halftime here on iHeartRadio. We appreciate you tuning
in Todd Walker with you your host for the halftime huddle.
Just because the teams are taking a break doesn't mean
we take a break. We're going to keep the information
flowing here at halftime. We're joined now by Christa and Ihoff,
the CEO of the NFHS, the National Federation of High Schools,

(01:37:07):
and I guess let's just give it a little bit
of an overview of Carissa the NFAHS. I think a
lot of fans hear that acronym, and sometimes they hear
it in conjunction with possible rules changes or things that
are changed, and the HSAA plays by NFHS rules, for instance.
Talk about the organization's structure and sort of its purpose

(01:37:28):
in life here.

Speaker 24 (01:37:29):
So the NFHS membership are each of the state associations
that oversee interscholastic championships high school sports, and about half
of our state associations also oversee performing arts, so things
like speech, debate, music.

Speaker 31 (01:37:46):
And theater.

Speaker 24 (01:37:47):
So we have fifty one association members. Washington DC has
their own association in all fifty states, and we serve
about twelve million young people. In addition to writing rules,
which you're absolutely correct, we've been doing that for over.

Speaker 36 (01:38:00):
One hundred years, we also have an online learning center
which now has over one hundred courses that run the
gamut from health and wellness to sports specific things to leadership.

Speaker 24 (01:38:12):
Safety, and we've had over twenty four million people take
those courses. So we've become a national influencer in the
education space and I'm very proud of that. And we
run about sixty five different committee meetings every.

Speaker 36 (01:38:27):
Year around rules around the arts, our governing bodies, and
our state leaders.

Speaker 24 (01:38:32):
So we're pretty busy organization and we're very proud to
say that everything we do is based on education based
philosophy doing what's best for kids.

Speaker 40 (01:38:41):
Well, it's interesting you mentioned that some of those associations
oversee performing arts. That's not the case in Ohio with
the OHSAA, but there is a lot of correlation between
the two, right absolutely.

Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
There is.

Speaker 24 (01:38:57):
We look at the things like performing arts and athletics
as kind of the second half of the school day.

Speaker 36 (01:39:02):
And they're developed in an education based with an education based.

Speaker 24 (01:39:06):
Approach in alignment with school mission vision values. So what
we would hold true to be important values for the
academic environment. Obviously, we want those to carry over into
the other activities and opportunities kids have affiliated with their schools,
and that means educating their coaches and advisors, providing them

(01:39:27):
with great officials and adjudicators of events, and making sure
that a number of adults are overseeing a comprehensive program
that pays attention to the kids' experience.

Speaker 40 (01:39:38):
Chris in the office, our guest on the program sheet,
is the CEO of the NFS. And one thing that
you guys recently put out in one of your news
releases is the headline here participation in high school sports.
It's record high with the big increase for the twenty
four to twenty five season. Take us through some of

(01:39:58):
the high points of the numbers and what's in your
opinion leading to some of these games.

Speaker 7 (01:40:04):
Great.

Speaker 24 (01:40:04):
Yes, participation numbers are up, in fact record high. We
recorded eight million, two hundred and sixty eight and ninety
one participants and we think it's about accurate. Hard to know,
but that is the highest we've ever recorded, and what's
great about that story is that it's higher than pre
pandemic numbers. So for a few years after the pandemic,

(01:40:26):
our numbers were down, they were trending up, but over
the last two years in particular, they've really started to soar.
We're really excited about that. The biggest games that we
found were mainly in girls sports, and to no surprise,
flag football led the way there. Last year we had
sixty eight and forty seven girls participating.

Speaker 36 (01:40:50):
And we know that already next year it's going to
be much greater.

Speaker 24 (01:40:53):
So excited to see that girl's wrestling is more than
seventy four thousand participants. Outdoor track and.

Speaker 36 (01:41:00):
Field, volleyball, soccer, or the three top sports for girls,
those were up and on the boy's.

Speaker 24 (01:41:07):
Side, outdoor track, soccer, and golf all had games. So
eleven player of football is still obviously the most popular
boys sports, but below those we still have track, basketball, soccer, baseball,
and such, so we're seeing our traditional leaders of participation
still there. Eleven player football is still over a million,

(01:41:31):
So when.

Speaker 40 (01:41:31):
You say football is over a million, I guess, take
us through at least the recent past, had that number
dipped below a million? Has that scene a bounce back
in the last our post COVID or give me a
short history of the participation numbers in football.

Speaker 24 (01:41:47):
Yes, so, we typically have had a million plus participants
in eleven player tackle football, and by the way, over
three thousand of those are girls. So it's been our
most popular sport listed on the boy's side by far.
It started to drop when concussions became a pretty high

(01:42:10):
concern and we started.

Speaker 36 (01:42:11):
To learn more about concussions.

Speaker 24 (01:42:13):
Change our practice protocols, change some of our rules, look
at the health and safety of our kids, how to
recognize concussions, how to educate around concussions, and et cetera.

Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
Et cetera.

Speaker 24 (01:42:24):
All of those efforts resulted in better educated coaches, better
executed programs, and I think the anxiety around concussions themselves
started to wane. As that started to happen, participation numbers
started to increase. So even though other boys sports numbers
are going up, football tackle football, which had dipped two

(01:42:49):
hundred and fifty to three hundred thousand at one point,
has now crossed back up over a million. Approaching one
point one million. So in the big picture of growth,
football is growing as well. There was a little bit
of a different last year, but it was pretty insignificant.
It was about five hundred participants which went spread out

(01:43:09):
over fifty one associations. Is exactly like ten kids per state,
so we're not concerned about that at all.

Speaker 40 (01:43:19):
Well, you mentioned the flag football component. Of course, that
is a girls sport that we are now going to
have here in Ohio. The UHSA is going to sponsor
a championship that is obviously taking off on a national level.
I know here in Ohio the Browns in particular and
then the Bengals too have been instrumental and promoting it.

(01:43:39):
Has the NFL been doing that on a national level?

Speaker 24 (01:43:43):
It sure has, and we have to thank the NFL.
All thirty two clubs are offering grant programs for state
associations to implement, and between the NFL efforts, the state
association efforts, the groundswell of support for the sport, and
some important statistics, one of which is, as far as

(01:44:04):
we know, about fifty percent of the girls that are
playing flag in high school were not previously involved in
another school of sport, which for us is terrific as
a story because it's telling us that girls are finding
a niche that they didn't have before. And now a
whole new population of students are engaged in a team,
working with a coach, working with teammates. They're part of

(01:44:24):
the school in a new way. And now with LA
twenty eight the Olympic Games having flag on the DOCAD
certainly going to see flag programs explode plenty.

Speaker 40 (01:44:34):

Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
Back at Adina High School, where your halftime scores Union
or thirty eight to nothing over the Adena Warriors. Looking
at scores across the SVC tonight, these are all halftime scores.
Westfall leads Zane Tray seven nothing at the half, piked
in up twenty nine nothing on Payton Valley at the half,
and Huntington leads South Eastern fourteen nothing around the area.

(01:48:03):
Circleville leeds Marietta at the half twenty one fourteen, and
it is the Tillicothy Cavaliers and the Miami Trace Panthers
fourteen fourteen at the half. Andrew, that's Courts kind of
surprises me. I know, Tillicothy's on a roll that is
on our sister station ninety two point seven in fourteen

(01:48:23):
ninety WBEX but Tillicothy tied with Miami Trace.

Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
Yeah. Well, Cartese Ligan has been phenomenal running the football
the last few weeks and so I'm guessing it's been
more of the same for them, but certainly they've been
playing a lot better.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Well, talking about playing better, Unioto here really much better
first half than what we saw last week against Piked
and they have really dominated all aspects here of this
first half, and I'm sure the stats is going to
be indicative of that.

Speaker 3 (01:48:55):
Yeah, just a few quick stats here. Unioda passing the
football tonight five eleven for fifty eight yards, Rushing the
football thirteen carries for one hundred and sixty seven yards.
They've just dominated on the ground and it's been it's
been seven different guys that have run the football. No
one has more than five carries, so they're spreading it out,

(01:49:17):
allowing guys to get touches and they're all taking advantage
of it. For aDNA passing Ethan Elick was five or
five in the first half, but only for fifteen yards. Again,
just doesn't have much time to look down the field
and see what's available. Rushing the football twenty one carries
for only forty two yards for the Warriors. So you know,

(01:49:39):
certainly this is a second half where Uniotta will look
to do more of the same and Adina will try
to try to gain some positive momentum here going forward.

Speaker 2 (01:49:50):
As we look at this team's as you're talking about
going forward in the next week. As I said, our
game of the week next week will be Zame Trace
at Uniotto And as you go at the last few
years of that matchup twenty twenty one, Zane Trace won
twenty eight thirteen, twenty twenty two, Zane Tray thirty five
thirty one, twenty twenty three, Unioto twenty seven fourteen, and

(01:50:14):
twenty twenty four Uniyodo twenty eight fourteen. So again, that
has been a game that a lot of people will
circle on the calendar when the schedule comes out as.

Speaker 26 (01:50:23):
To the game of the year and the SBC.

Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
And you know, I know the score West Fall seven
nothing at halftime over Zane Trace, but d Zane Trace
team is very capable of winning any night out and
we see what this Uniodo teams.

Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
Well, and in what Zane Trace I think does really
really well is just wear you down. So where they
might be down seven or h and a halftime, it
could be a situation where they kind of, you know,
really turn it around on the second half because they're
just so physical that it just wears on you as
the course of the game goes along. So yeah, it
should set up to be a really good game next week,
and again.

Speaker 2 (01:50:59):
The Adena Warriors will go on the road again to
face the west Fall Mustangs, and again west Fall wins
that game, as Zane trace, that's going to set up
another game later in the year, possibly with Westfall and Unioto. Yeah, yeah,
you know, this Adena Warrior team obviously want to try
some finds of positives. A three game winning streak coming
into the night, they're still sitting okay as far as

(01:51:21):
playoffs goes, So they got to find some positives here
as they move forward in the year and play some
of these other teams.

Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
Yeah, this is a game where you can't let one
loss become two, right, you can't let this game affects
how you prepare for the next game and the game
after that. This is you know, you learn what you
need to learn from this game, and then you move
on and you go put your full focus on west
Fall and prepare to play them all right.

As we come back here to Adena High School, both
high school bands did a wonderful job there of their
halftime performances, and the crowd enjoyed both of them.

Speaker 26 (01:53:21):
As we have, both teams now back onto the field
to do their.

Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
Pre second half warm ups and to start the second half,
it'll be Yunioto receiving the ball as we get ready
to start this second half. And just a couple of reminders,
the second half is going to be with a running clock.
Per ohs AA rules of a thirty point deficit. The
clock will continue to run even on out of bounce

(01:53:49):
plays and things like that. The only thing that will
stop it will be a touchdown, I believe, and also
a timeout.

Speaker 26 (01:53:56):
So that is what we will see here in the
second half.

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
So the second half may go a little quicker, and
that's something unfortunately, Andrew, we've seen a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
Of you as we've gone through the year, so we have. Yeah,
this is our sixth week and this is our fifth
running clock. So next week we just need to see
a really good game. That's what we're looking for. Speaking
of good games, I don't think we've mentioned it yet.
Probably the premier game in southern Ohio, if not maybe
the whole state. Ironton is beating Wheelersburg nine to seven

(01:54:27):
at halftime. Sounds like that's going to be a really
good game here throughout the out the course of the night.

Speaker 26 (01:54:32):
Yeah, big rivalry in southern Ohio.

Back at aDNA High School as we get ready to
start here the second half, and again going over some
other sports. As we talked about boys golf and girls
golf will have districts coming up this week. Volleyball will
have two weeks left in their season as that continues
to roll on. I didn't mention there was a Westfall

(01:56:14):
individual golfer that made it for the girls. Her name
was Michelle Pickett, so again congratulations to her and those
teams that will move on into the districts this coming weekend. Again,
last week we had some rain and so they had
to deal with that with some of those tournaments.

Speaker 26 (01:56:33):
This week, it looks like it's going to be a
good week weather wise, and.

Speaker 2 (01:56:37):
That's always a good thing for the golf teams because
it's tough to play when it's raining. It's really tough
to play when you have a stick in your hand
that is somewhat metal in there.

Speaker 26 (01:56:48):
Is lightning and thunder in the area.

Speaker 3 (01:56:50):
Yeah, I try to avoid that situation at all costs.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
So actually we do have one of the golf coaches
here from Adena and Adena for the first time in
school history to speak about aDNA. UH did make it
to the districts with both boys and girls. So Trey
UH talk about your program. Yeah, it's really impressive.

Speaker 25 (01:57:11):
What the kids did, you know, like you said, deal
with the rain and everything, we found a way just
to uh, you know, grind through these uh these eighteen
holes and get it done. I know for the boys,
we started out pretty tough with our our early tea
time in the morning there on Thursday. We had a

(01:57:34):
little bit of rain there, but then we battled and
at the end of the day made some putts down
the stretch and uh was able to advance the districts
by two strokes.

Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
So congratulations to again both boys and girls from aDNA
that will go on to the districts this week. And
uh the uh, I guess we'll give credit to the
head coach, uh, Jeff Postage and guiding that program. And
uh uh you know, probably the best decision, I should
say second best decision. His best decision was getting married

(01:58:06):
to the woman he married. And so that being said
Madeline Carshoner, Uh, you see how I lost Trey A
thought there for a second, But again, Madaline Carshoner, who
Jeffrey ended up married, his second best decision was bringing
you on his assistant coach for the golf program.

Speaker 25 (01:58:23):
Yeah, I guess that's right. And Madeline, you know, I
think I know her pretty good. She's fine with Jeffy
n of of course all day and uh you know,
not at home bothering her, So I think she's totally
followed that.

Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
And again, Andrew and I would like to thank our
wives for allowing us to come out here every Friday
night and do what we do and enjoy doing that.

Speaker 26 (01:58:42):
And uh so again big shout out to them.

Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
Uh, and I guess we can shout out to McKenna
lovely for allowing you to come out and join us
this week.

Speaker 25 (01:58:53):
In the next two weeks, yeah, she's gonna have to
have her hand sol with with Palmer there, so big
shout out to her.

Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
All right, So as we get ready to start the
second half, it'll be a Dina kicking off to Unioda
and that is coddle and a little onside kick here
and Unyodo loses it and it's still on the ground
and it looks like we're gonna get the ball recovered
by Uniodo. So good job there, And I believe that
is number twenty two for the Shermans that came up.

Speaker 26 (01:59:23):
With that ball. That is Luke Howard.

Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
Yeah, for a second, it was like they were almost
so confused that was happening that they didn't didn't.

Speaker 26 (01:59:30):
Go pick it up.

Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
So again, it seems like the kickoff is an exciting thing.
You just never know how what's going to go on
with those kickoffs anymore. And so Adina tries to come
out do with a little trick play there to start
to the second half.

Speaker 26 (01:59:46):
But Unioda recovers the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
They will have the ball first and ten at their
own forty three yard line. So Isaac Corey still in
a quarterback Cody Brayden behind him, wait to snap handoff.
No Coy keeps in a little option coming around Leevi
Beam on the right left hand side, I'm sorry, right

(02:00:08):
hand side gets down the field quickly for a nice
gain of about seventeen.

Speaker 3 (02:00:15):
Yeah, really nice, just a little option play there, and
Beam took it for about seventeen.

Speaker 2 (02:00:25):
So again, you know, probably going to see the first
team still in here for the first set of downs
here for Unioto, and then we'll probably see some of
the other players.

Speaker 26 (02:00:35):
Back in the game.

Speaker 3 (02:00:37):
Yeah, we saw a lot of those same kids last
Friday against PIKEDN and they're gonna get some more game
time tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:00:44):
So motion by Levi beam hand off to Cody Braiden.
He goes around to the left hand side this time,
and again the Warriors drew a good job of stacking
that one up and only about a two yard game
there by Braiden. And again that should be for a
good job there by Tody, Cody Rawlings coming in and

(02:01:06):
making the tackle.

Speaker 3 (02:01:09):
Yeah, Braden only needing to carry the ball six times,
So for tonight has sixty eight yards another night where
he's averaging over ten yards per carry. He's uh, he's
having a phenomenal season that's been really really efficient.

Speaker 2 (02:01:26):
So a lot of movement now everybody gets set for Unioto.
Motion by Levi beam hand off to Ty Woods this
time around the left hand side. He finds some room.
He's going down the sideline. It's not that a bounce.
After about a game of thirteen on the play get
a nice run nearby Woods. At the end he took
some took a hit or laid a hit on the

(02:01:49):
defender and was able to get positive yardage.

Speaker 3 (02:01:51):
Yeah again, just another really good running back that makes
makes this happen when he touches the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:02:04):
So first intent for you and to Yoda inside a
Dina territory out the twenty seven yard line. Woods in
the backfield with Koy. They wait to snap motion, no motion, Nope,
being goes back, gets set. Now he comes in motion,
Coy flips it to him. That's actually a pass since

(02:02:26):
that was a forward flip. Nice stiff armed there by
Levi Beaman. He's going to get positive yardage out of
that one gain of about five going to bring up a.

Speaker 3 (02:02:38):
Third down and four or second down and four.

Speaker 34 (02:02:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:02:45):
Again, it looked like he wasn't exactly sure when he
was supposed to go, but when he went, he turned
the corner and got some good yardage.

Speaker 26 (02:02:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:02:52):
Good job there by Koy making sure everybody was on
the same page and getting everybody.

Speaker 26 (02:02:57):
Lined up in the right spot.

Speaker 2 (02:03:02):
So again motion hand off to Braiden, this time right
up the middle, and good job there by the interior
part of the Dina Warriors not allowing that to take place,
and I believe that was sax Hour on the tackle
brings up a third down and two. Clock running under

(02:03:24):
eight twenty now to go here in the third quarter.
Got an update on the Huntington Southeastern game. It's Huntington
twenty seven Southeastern zero at half. Okay, we're in the
third quarter and this third quarter is brought to you
by Chilico a truck. Koy awaits a snap, looking to throw,
throws out to Jackson Zikafous. He's going to make a move,

(02:03:46):
get around the first defender. He's going to be brought down.
But we have a flag in the area of holding
for u Nioto and that's going to bring them back.
So on a fourth down and our third down in two,
that'll bring it back ten yards, make it third down
and twelve.

Speaker 3 (02:04:08):
Yeah, you know it was such a quick drop and
a quick release. I don't know that you needed to
hold anybody there. He got it out quickly and be
a play that doesn't really affect the play, but he
held him.

Speaker 34 (02:04:25):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (02:04:25):
Update on that Westfall games Westfall and Zane Trace. That
is now seven to seven in the third quarter. So
Zane trace has tied that up. So third down and
twelve for Unioto on their the Adena Warriors twenty nine
yard line. Koy only went into backfield to wait to snap,

(02:04:47):
goes back to pass, throws out wide and that's going
to be a little too wide for Jack Welsh out
there on the left hand side.

Speaker 26 (02:04:54):
That'll bring up a fourth down in twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:04:56):
Do you think Leam Matthew's over there trying or trying
to get a spot for a field goal?

Speaker 3 (02:05:01):
I hope so that would be about uh, I don't
know what would that be? A forty six yard field goal?
Forty five, forty six? They're not gonna I bet.

Speaker 2 (02:05:14):
I want to ask coach at after the game what
if he was over there politic and to try to
get in the game here. But it'll be a fourth
down to twelve six twenty four to go here in
the ball game, and the Unioda Sherman's getting set to
go forward on fourth down, Cooy and Braiden in the backfield,
Braiden right behind Koy, snap back to pass, Koy going

(02:05:37):
deep and again he's going to overthrow his receiver down deep.
That was intended for Jack wellsh again a little bit
too far over his head, and that'll be a turnover
on downs for U Nioto and it'll bring up a
Dina ball first and ten.

Speaker 3 (02:05:55):
Yeah, this is uh, you know, a drive here for
a Dina where you'd want to see something positive here.
Even if you don't drive all the way down the
field of score, if you can just create some positive momentum,
you know, get a couple first downs. That's gonna build
some confidence in the guys.

Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
All right, So the Warriors will take over first and
ten at their own twenty nine yard line.

Speaker 26 (02:06:21):
You want to go ahead to Andrew. Yeah, let's do
some play by play.

Speaker 3 (02:06:26):
Ethanilick in the backfield hands off to looks like Hunter Williams.
It's gonna move forward there for about two yards.

Speaker 2 (02:06:37):
Getting nice play there, positive yardies for the Adena Warriors,
says I'll step away here and let you guys listen
to Andrew and Trey.

Speaker 25 (02:06:45):
Yeah, I'll jump in here. What Adena did really good
to start the game was the run game. They did
a really good job of running between the tackles and
not offensive lineup for a Dina was moving that unioda
defensive line for a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:06:56):
So let's see if they can get that going again.
Ethan Elick under center here with Grady Hayden and looks
like number thirty five. I don't have that on my roster.
Hunter Williams runs up the middle there for another two
yards or so.

Speaker 2 (02:07:15):
That might have been a late addition to the new
uniforms here tonight, so I'm not sure who that may be.

Speaker 3 (02:07:28):
The third and eight here for the Warriors. Ethan Elik
jogs in with the play, So thirty five is hundred
Williams Hunter Williams. You look in the shotgun, he sees
the snap, hands off to Hayden and he is pulled

(02:07:51):
down by the Shermans for about a one yard loss.

Speaker 9 (02:07:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 25 (02:07:55):
Again, Unioda is really doing a good job with that
defensive line, not letting it know Z line block, and
they're just getting right in there to the backfield.

Speaker 3 (02:08:05):
Fourth down here, it looks like the punt team is
going to come onto the field here. It's fourth and eight.
They're gonna kick it away. And the size and the
strength of Uniota up fronts really is just showing right

(02:08:25):
now and as this game has gone along.

Speaker 25 (02:08:29):
Yeah, and again also just their speed and quickness is
still prevalent here in the fourth or in the second half.

Speaker 3 (02:08:38):
Punts it down to about the thirty six yard line
and we're going to take a break. This is the

Speaker 3 (02:09:56):
I'm back here at Bosticfield. First down was is it
COI dropping back to pass? The pass was broken up
by the Warriors, and so we're at second and ten.
Isaac Koy lined up in the shotgun. David Long moves
with motion. We've got Beam coming the other way, hands
it off to Braiden up the middle, and Cody Brayden

(02:10:17):
picks up about nine on that carry break. Well, that
looks like they're gonna be him the first down.

Speaker 24 (02:10:26):
Down.

Speaker 25 (02:10:31):
Ladena has not been able to hold Braiden there tonight.
Just his size and speed, he's tough to bring down.
It's not just one that if the first guy gets
to him. The tackling for aDNA, he's usually staying up
on his feet and he exploding through that tackle.

Speaker 12 (02:10:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:10:47):
Something we talked about last week a lot was when
he gets hit, he always falls forward and just creates
extra yardage. Koy rolls out to his right, throws it
over the top to Tanner Beam. He scampers down the
sideline and is taken down by number thirteen Chance Mosser.

Speaker 25 (02:11:03):
Really good touch pass there by Koy. He rolls out
to the right, kind of fakes the defender for aDNA
and receiver there he's able to get on the backside
of him.

Speaker 3 (02:11:13):
Just a really good touchdown. Yeah, about a twenty seven
yard game there. Cooy had missed his last five throws,
but was on the money there as he rolled out,
and he now has eighty five yards on the day passing.

Speaker 2 (02:11:28):
Yeah, lee by being got that one and he turned around,
He's like, Wow, there's no one around me and I
got a.

Speaker 3 (02:11:32):
Block, lots of real estate in front of me. Coy
will line up in the shotgun again. Ty Woods lined
up next to him in the backfield. Beam in motion,
hands off, the Woods cuts through the right side and
he is going to go all the way into the
end zone for another six points for Unioto. He's a

(02:11:57):
twenty yard touchdown run for ty Woods.

Speaker 25 (02:12:01):
There's Union his offensive line again just creating that big
hole for ty Woods and he does not get touched.

Speaker 3 (02:12:06):
I don't think that whole time on the run. So
just a really good job by Unioda. So ty Wood's
now four carries in his first game back in about
a year and a half and he has fifty four
yards on the ground. Looks like we've got a new
kicker for Unido and that's gonna be Tanner Bean.

Speaker 2 (02:12:28):
I think you gave Tanner the reception early game. Yeah,
well wow, that one good brothers and pub here. Yeah,
so again they have two really good kickers. They're at
Unioda and that one went through with ease.

Speaker 3 (02:12:45):
Yeah, at plenty of leg And now the Warriors will
try to regroup again and try to get something going offensively.
Let's take a break. This is the accurate heating, cooling,
and playing game of the week on ninety four country

Now we will get to kick off another high long
kick Adina Fields. It looks like Joey Francis makes a
couple moves and has brought down at around the twenty
five yard line. Francis had a couple of nice returns

(02:15:37):
here tonight.

Speaker 25 (02:15:38):
He's able to make a couple moves and beat a
few Union defenders down the sideline.

Speaker 3 (02:15:42):
Get some nice games. If you're a coach, hurt right
now here, Trey, what are you hoping to see on
this drive?

Speaker 25 (02:15:54):
You know, trying to get a little bit more minim
going momentum going into next game, and that's really just
moving the ball, even just the UNIODA side of the field.
I'm not sure if Uniota has allowed them to take
a snap on their side of the fifty here tonight,
so just you know, getting a couple first downs and
you know, taking some positives to.

Speaker 3 (02:16:11):
Go into the next game. Looks like Unioda has brought
in their second unit on defense. That's a handoff up
the middle. Lots of bodies in a mess there, but
it looks like Grady Hayden's going to pick up about

(02:16:32):
four on that play. Yeah, he was not easy to
bring down there.

Speaker 25 (02:16:35):
There was a whole or a mess of Uniota players
there and he was still standing up trying to get
more yards.

Speaker 3 (02:16:42):
Yeah, he's a tough kid, just a freshman, but not
afraid to go find some physical contact up the middle.

Speaker 26 (02:16:51):
Looks like some seniors in the game.

Speaker 2 (02:16:53):
Caden Clindeniel is it on that defensive line for the
Uniota Shermans. So I see out there number eleven Javon
Smith also a senior for UNIODEL.

Speaker 3 (02:17:05):
So some of the second teamers getting some play. Another
hand off up the middle there by t looks like
Hunter Williams.

Speaker 25 (02:17:15):
Another pretty good game there for the Warriors games about
four or five there.

Speaker 3 (02:17:19):
Uh has offensive line made some good movement.

Speaker 8 (02:17:21):
There and.

Speaker 3 (02:17:24):
Williams shot through the hole there. Yeah, sorry, that was
Grant Rawlings that got the carryings.

Speaker 36 (02:17:30):
There.

Speaker 3 (02:17:30):
Picks up five and there would be third and two.

Speaker 25 (02:17:34):
Got another score update out at Zane Trace Zane Trace
Westfall tied seven to seven.

Speaker 3 (02:17:40):
Now in the fourth quarter. Oh man, it's shaping up
to be a good one.

Speaker 12 (02:17:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:17:51):
Hunter Williams with the with the carry up the middle again,
just tough running, making sure he's falling forward and uh
does a really nice job taking up about five yards
and picks up the first down. Yeah.

Speaker 25 (02:18:03):
Like you said, that's what coach Hurt wants to see
here is getting first downs. Trying to get another first
down here, but a really good one run by Williams.

Speaker 3 (02:18:12):
Trey. We have a bigfoot sighting in the Adena Uniota
section tonight or the Adena student section tonight. So if
anyone was doubting, we know he's now real.

Speaker 25 (02:18:22):
Yes, see him a couple of times here tonight. He's
making his way around there.

Speaker 3 (02:18:25):
The feel here you look in the shotgun starts, drops
back and then finds some space to run up the
middle and picks up about three yards. Yeah.

Speaker 25 (02:18:37):
I'm not sure if that was a design run, but
u Nioda was all in that backfield and he did
not have any time to throw.

Speaker 3 (02:18:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:18:44):
Good job there by Javon Smith of getting him brought
down there by the shoe strings, or it.

Speaker 26 (02:18:49):
Could have been a lot more.

Speaker 3 (02:18:52):
Yeah, Unioda starting to rotate even more guys in on
their defense here. I see Grady Goebel on the field,
Briggs Jackson among others, Blake, Braydon Lake, and lang Off.
We called his name a couple times on the offensive
side of the football tonight.

Speaker 25 (02:19:12):
Yeah, this is one of the good things about, you know,
having running clock and sort of a lowout game here,
you can kind of get some of the JV players
and field experience.

Speaker 3 (02:19:20):
Of Friday night lights. Flick rolls to his right and
no one's open. He throws it out of bounds.

Speaker 26 (02:19:26):
It's a good catcher by the Adena assistant.

Speaker 3 (02:19:33):
Twill. What you like to see. You don't like to
see coaches that can't make that catch on the sideline.
Elick is getting the play from coach Hurt. As the
clock ticks down, We're now at eight minutes left here
in this fourth quarter, forty five to zero in favor

(02:19:53):
of the Shermans of Umida.

Speaker 26 (02:19:55):
We got an update on west Fall.

Speaker 2 (02:19:56):
It is ain't Tray's fourteen to seven over west Fall
into fourth quarter, fourteen seven's ain't trace.

Speaker 3 (02:20:04):
Elick lined up in the shotgun. We've he's got trips
receivers out here to the right. They're gonna roll him out.
You and Yoda's defensive line is WHOA what a catch
is that? Fisher? Shop? Yeah? Man, I didn't think he
had any opening at all, and shot went up, made
the catch and that's a first down for the Wolves.

Speaker 25 (02:20:23):
That was a great catch, but also a really good
throw by Ethan Elick. He had to fit that in
between the safety and the corner for Yu Yoda and
just dropped it right in there.

Speaker 3 (02:20:32):
But a phenomenal catch by Fisher. Show Yeah, no question.
That is Fisher's third catch of the football game. A
Dina braks the huddle, Ethan Elick will go under center here,
I have two running backs in the backfield and that's
a handoff to Rawlings. He's gonna get about a yard there, Andrew,

(02:21:00):
what do we say about two first downs? And that's
kind of what coach Church wants to see. He wants
to see, you know, keep going here. Yeah, they're finally
in the Unioti's territory. Well, we'll see how they finish
up this drive. Yeah, certainly a positive that you can
take from this. Dina breaks the huddle. You look again,

(02:21:23):
will be under center. Be surprised to see him take
a shot here on the outside the shaw for Francis
hands it up the middle. Really tough run by Grady Hayden.
He got hit right at the line of scrimmage, but
he refuse to go down and picks up about six
yards there. Yeah, Hayden really fought for the last four
or five yards there.

Speaker 25 (02:21:42):
He had two or three UNIONDA defenders around him at
the line of scrimmage and just drug him four to
five pass.

Speaker 3 (02:21:49):
Line of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (02:21:50):
The thing that impressed me about Hayden is he's a
freshman and he plays every down offensively, defensively, and he
does not give up at all. He's always plays hard,
so that that's a good thing to see, especially as
of a kid that young.

Speaker 3 (02:22:03):
Yeah, Elick comes out in the shotgun snap hand off
to Hayden again, breaks a couple of tackles, keeps going
on his feet and picks up about eleven yards on
that carry to get the first down.

Speaker 25 (02:22:19):
Thereas again, Hayden, like you said, plays every down. Did
not get you on that one. Broke a couple tackles there.
Offensive line did a really good job by Ideena for
giving him a big hole. But Hayden there for about
was that fifteen yards?

Speaker 3 (02:22:31):
Yeah. Jonah Renner with the tackle that finally brought him
down for the Shermans, got a.

Speaker 2 (02:22:42):
Little afraid there. We almost had a power out each other.
Aadena huddles gets the play, they come out.

Speaker 3 (02:22:55):
Elick will be in the shotgun again, just one wide
out in this formation. Hayden with another carry up the
middle again breaks multiple tackles and picks up about five
yards on that carry.

Speaker 25 (02:23:15):
Yeah, with about four minutes thirty seconds left, the Gina's
right around the twenty five yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:23:21):
See if they can do something here, Grety Hayden now
with eleven carries forty six yards. So he's certainly been
a positive for the Warriors tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:23:34):
Dina breaks the huddle, piked in up on Paynt Valley
thirty six to nothing as they play in the third quarter.
Chillicothe has just taken a lead against Miami. Trays twenty
one twenty. Looks like we've got maybe off sides on
the defense. I would think they would have let that

(02:23:58):
play go, but they did, and they blew it dead
right away.

Speaker 3 (02:24:03):
Yeah, as you heard Chase Starr on the PA system here,
that's a Warrior first down. That's five penalties now on
the Shermans and Dina lines up there now on the

(02:24:31):
eighteen yard line trying to find a way to put
the ball in the end zone. Elik dropped back, drops back,
gets flushed out of the pocket, heads to his right,
finally pulls it, runs and stays on his feet. He
got popped, but was able to stay on his feet
and picked up a gain of it looks like about
seven yards there.

Speaker 25 (02:24:51):
Yeah, after he got popped, he tiptoed on that sideline
and yeah, do a really good body controlled of staying downstair.

Speaker 3 (02:24:59):
Second.

Speaker 25 (02:25:01):
I think he was looking for the big tight end
Colton Garrison in the end zone, trying to get a
score here.

Speaker 3 (02:25:07):
Late, but really good covers there by. Uniota clock continues
to tick down. We are now at two thirty five
left in this fourth quarter. We will see if the
Warriors are able to punch it in here. They are
going with a tight, big formation here and fumble the handoff.

(02:25:30):
We will see looks like a Dina may have fallen
on it after they fumbled its.

Speaker 25 (02:25:40):
Yeah, when that ball came out, we saw them flags
come out. They need to get different colors there, because
that look like a penalty flag.

Speaker 3 (02:25:46):
Well they're orange, but they look pretty similar to the
penalty flag, and it makes our job tough. So on
my list of things too, right to the OHSA about Lou,
I am sure those things will be. Don't with swiftly
and with great efficiency, you know now that I have
more time on my hand, drops back to pass quick

(02:26:11):
slant there to Francis, and it looked like the defender
was able to get a hand in there and knock
it away.

Speaker 25 (02:26:19):
Yeah, throw by either throws a little bit behind Joey Francis,
so he kind of had to put his hands back
and catch that wall and just wasn't unable to.

Speaker 3 (02:26:26):
Come up with a one thirty leftier. In this game,
it's fourth down and four. Adina doing its best to
try to score. They're on the Union had a twelve
yard line. Ethan Elick comes in with the play. The
Warriors will break the huddle and it's like Elick will
line up in the shotgun. Got two lined up out

(02:26:49):
on the left, two on the right, one in the backfield.
Throws a quick slant there. Brayden Harsher breaks it up
and uh, that will be a turnover on downs for
the wars Yeah, that was a pretty good throw there
about Elk, but wa to play by Harsha just to
get in front of that and knock that away, I

(02:27:10):
would have been a touchdown. It's like, we'll stop the
clock on this change of possession here. I would expect
that the Shermans will come out and take ane you
a couple of times and end this ball game. But
we'll see. It's like both teams are gonna take the

(02:27:32):
opportunity to get some get some good new guys in.

Speaker 25 (02:27:41):
Yeah, going into next week, just a big game against
Zane Trace Unioda. This is kind of what you wanted
for him tonight, to come in and handle business against
a Dina who was on a three game win streak.

Speaker 3 (02:27:52):
But yeah, this this is one of those games that
it could have been easy for Uniota to be looking
ahead the next week, but it didn't. We didn't get
any sense of that at all tonight. Uniota seamed locked
in from the very beginning and dominated this game from beginning.
Then Uniota will line up here. Looks like we've got

(02:28:12):
Blake Braiden in the backfield at quarterback, lined up in
the shotgun and he will take a knee and looks
like looks like that's it. Both teams are going to
head to the sidelines and make their way across the
field to shake hands.

Speaker 2 (02:28:29):
Well, guys, good job there in the second half of
doing some play by play, get you an idea of
what you'll hear next week when these two will take

five the Adena Warriors.

Speaker 26 (02:33:32):
We have Andrew Day with coach Hoops.

Speaker 3 (02:33:42):
Right where guys are looking at they're based on what's
coming next week. You guys were locked in tonight, really
dominant from beginning to end. Talk about the.

Speaker 13 (02:33:56):
Been beaten to their head for so long, and it's
one week at a time, one matter what, and that's
hard to do as a kid. I mean, obviously I
remember being young too and knowing what was at stake.
But teen seniors and great leaders like we have. We
were trying to go one and know tonight and we
were able to do that. We had probably our best
week of practice this week, and it was in some
bad conditions in terms of their weather and stuff like that,
but they.

Speaker 12 (02:34:16):
Knew we had to get work done and they were
able to do it.

Speaker 13 (02:34:18):
And you know, when you have good weeks of practice,
then you have good game games on Friday night, and
that was no different time.

Speaker 3 (02:34:23):
Yeah, again, dominant effort on the ground over two hundred
and sixty yards on the ground again tonight, mixed in
a lot of different guys. I think he had eight
or nine guys with carries. Talk about what that versatility
means moving forward.

Speaker 13 (02:34:37):
Well, I just think the biggest thing is is it
keeps us fresh, you know, and Nicole is to get
to the playoffs as fresh as you can be. So
the more guys that we can kind of take the
wear and tear off and kind of share.

Speaker 12 (02:34:46):
That load, so to speak, it's huge for us.

Speaker 13 (02:34:49):
And you know, he got you know, obviously Cody Braid
and everyone knows about him and he's basically only played
a half of football every Friday night. And then we
get a guy like ty wiolsback who you know, was
our running back last year, to start to see and
he looked like he was healthy tonight.

Speaker 12 (02:35:03):
You know, you know, Lee by Dean can.

Speaker 3 (02:35:05):
Run the football.

Speaker 13 (02:35:05):
Dreaton Harsh You can run the football. Henry Vilett can
run the football. Walker SAMs can run the football. Those
guys run the football. But now that's possible without the
five guys up front, and they just keep.

Speaker 12 (02:35:13):
Getting better every week.

Speaker 3 (02:35:14):
So yeah, again, a great effort by your defense, moving
the line of scrimmage, disrupting what's going on in the backfield.
A Dina really struggled to get any sort of rhythm going,
and a lot of that's because of those those four
and seven guys up front that are making things happen.

Speaker 12 (02:35:29):
Yeah, it's it is.

Speaker 13 (02:35:30):
And I felt like we were able to force a
couple turnovers in their own territory, which you know that's
always good for the defense and led to really short
drives for us. So, you know, I thought a Dina
played really hard. I think, you know, they're always going
to be well coached, they're gonna do things the right way.
But you know, just tonight we were able to be
in the right.

Speaker 3 (02:35:46):
Spot at the right time and n force some of
those turn Coach Big one next week. As we mentioned,
what's uh, what do you feel like maybe one or
two keys are for you guys to come out victorious
next week.

Speaker 13 (02:35:57):
Just still a couple of silly penalty you know, you
know who knows when those are going to really cost
you in a game, and just maybe being more consistently
both running and throwing. You know, I've talked earlier, we've
had games where we've we've hit eighty percent of our
passes and games and games where we've hit you know,
fifteen to fifty five percent. So just to try to
get that over sixty close to seventy if we can

(02:36:18):
and continue to run the football and hopefully our defense
can can continue to fly around and play fast.

Speaker 3 (02:36:23):
Coach, great team, win for you guys. Congratulations, good luck
next week. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:36:29):
All right, So the victorious coach hoops and again setting
up right now as far as I know, the Zane
Trace Pioneers or yeah, the Pioneers are up twenty to
seven now on West Fall, So that game going into
the fourth quarter, so we'll see how things go there.

(02:36:49):
But if all goes the same and we have the
matchup everyone wanted next week, two undefeated teams. We're going
to go back down to the field here with aDNA
coach Scott Hurt.

Speaker 3 (02:37:04):
I'm here with coach. Oh, not a lot to say
about tonight. I thought the guys fought hard. I thought
that's just a big, strong, fast football team on it.
They showed why they're past few years. Uh.

Speaker 9 (02:37:22):
Yeah, it was pretty obvious up up front we have.
I thought we were full strength up there tonight. I
thought maybe we could pound the ball and get some
first downs, and and we did here and there. But
when you get behind the chains or if you're sitting
at third and seven, third and eight, they can lock
you up and then they're going to send people and
that's a struggle. And you know, we fumbled the second

(02:37:44):
play of the game. You know, quarterbacks just a little excited.
We got a quick hitter going and he's pulling out
there a little quick. And but yeah, I don't know.
Wasn't the play calling, wasn't the kids. It was just
they're just better than us as playing simple. Yeah, really
in the teams that we've been here, great.

Speaker 3 (02:38:06):
Itself. Rather well, he's a kid that's not going to
mix it up a little bit and put his shoulders
down and try to gain some extra yards.

Speaker 9 (02:38:14):
Yeah, and I think Hunter's the same way, Hunter Williams.
Those two guys have got to be able to grind
some yards for us. I don't know about getting to
the edges tonight with any running backs. We tried to
get on the edges a little bit with the passing game,
but when they're running through blocks and it's just.

Speaker 26 (02:38:34):
We tried, it just wasn't there tonight yet.

Speaker 3 (02:38:37):
Coach, I feel like in games like this, one of
the challenges how do you not let one loss become two? Right?
How do you not let this game tonight affect the
way that you prepare for the next one. So what's
the message to the team going into next week at
West Fall?

Speaker 9 (02:38:52):
Well, the message started at halftime, honestly, effort and your
attitude towards things. And I thought, you know, considering all things,
we were solid in the second half with with all
the things we were looking for. Yeah, you're right, it
can't compound and turn into another down or next week
at West Fall, but I think we'll be all right

(02:39:13):
going into that one up in william Sport.

Speaker 26 (02:39:15):
Well, not the same.

Speaker 9 (02:39:17):
They're not good, because they are We've seen them on film.
But we fix what we do, clean up, and we're
gonna hit the second half a lot with the with
the film tomorrow and and just see where we are
at the first half, we'll just we'll look.

Speaker 3 (02:39:36):
At it and evaluate it. But the second half is
what we're going to look at. Coach, appreciate the time.
Good luck next week at West Fall. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:39:44):
All right, So that was the Adena coach got hurt.
We will take a quick break and we will be

Back at Adena High School, where it was all u
Niyoto tonight, forty five nothing over the aDNA Warriors.

Speaker 26 (02:44:24):
Scoring went.

Speaker 2 (02:44:25):
Unyodo scored with ten fifty six a go in the
first quarter after a turnover by Adina.

Speaker 26 (02:44:31):
Cody Braiden went thirty yards. Matthew's kick was good. It
was seven nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:44:36):
Unyoda then scored with five forty four to go in
the first quarter again Cody Braiden a six yard run
this time and Liam Matthey extra point good.

Speaker 3 (02:44:45):
Fourteen nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:44:46):
Unioda then scored with ten twelve to go in the
second quarter, Isaac Coyd to David Long on an eighteen
yard pass. Matthew's kick was good, twenty one nothing u
n yodo of six fifty nine to go in the
second quarter, ty Woods sorry. Ty Woods seventeen yard run
Matthews kick twenty eight nothing, and then with six thirty

(02:45:08):
six to go in the second quarter, it was a

five nothing at that point. Then Leam Matthey added a
thirty eight yard field goal with thirty.

Speaker 26 (02:45:24):
Nine seconds go.

Speaker 2 (02:45:24):
At half, it was thirty eight nothing at the half
and the only scoring in the second half was ty
Woods a twenty yard touchdown run. This time it was
Tanner Beams extra point good. And that's where we stood
at forty five to nothing. Andrew some stats for tonight's game.

Speaker 3 (02:45:40):
Yeah, for the Denal Warriors, they were six of eight
passing tonight for twenty five yards. Rushing, they had thirty
three carries for ninety one yards. Grady Hayden led them
with forty six yards rushing. Hunter Williams had twenty nine
fort unyodo. Passing the ball, they were six of fifteen
for eighty five yards. Tonight only one carries for two

(02:46:01):
hundred and thirty seven yards on the ground. Cody Braden
had eighty of those. Ty Woods had fifty four, and
then just keep going down the line. Tanner Beam had
had twenty three, as at KOI had twenty five. Just
had a multiple, had multiple guys that really made their

(02:46:22):
way on the ground. And I'm gonna take a liberty here, Lou,
if that's okay. You know we've mentioned you're now retired.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
