This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country w KKGA. Today's game is presented by Accurate Heating,
Cooling and Plumbing and brought to you by Home Loans
by Jan Kroger, the Savings Bank, Shine On Chilliicoffee and
Menards with the audio technical pregame show. Here's Andrew Day

(00:25):
and Lou Postage.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Well, welcome to week nine of high school football, and
tonight we come to you from Zaane Trace High School
where his Ain't and Trace Pioneers will take on the
Paint Valley Paar Cats and Andrew another beautiful Friday night
here in the state of Ohio. And it's it's exactly
what you want for high school football.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's perfect.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
It's a little coolness to the air, little crisp. And
we've got two teams that are are both gonna come
out and compete tonight, and I think we're gonna find
out some things about each of these teams.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And again you look at a Zane Trace team. They
come in to this game tonight at six and two overall,
and they are one game behind you Nioto in the
league race. And for Payt Valley, this is not something
they're used to. They come in tonight and tonight winless,
and they're a team that's really looking to find something

(01:24):
positive and talking to the coach before the game. Again,
it's not something that their kids aren't trying. They are
doing so. But again it comes down to numbers for
this Paint Valley too.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, and they're really young.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
They're playing a lot of freshmen on both sides of
the ball, so you know, understandably it's been a struggle.
But again, anytime you step on the field, especially against
a really good football team like Zane trace Is, it
gives you your kids an opportunity to find out what
it looks like and what it takes to get to the.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Top of the conference standing.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
So I think for Paint Valley, you've got to use
this as an op opportunity.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Well, Andrew, it's.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Good to be back in the state of Ohio here
for high school football, even though the last couple of
weeks I did enjoy myself as I was on the
cruise ship and joining myself throughout the Caribbean. Thanks to
you and Trey for stepping in and taking care of
the games here on the radio, and also to Sydney
for all she does back in the studio, but earlier
today I was able to talk to both coaches and

(02:23):
we got those coaches interviews coming up. You're listening to

When you think of the nineteen nineties, you probably think
of your favorite Nickelodeon cartoons, epic spice Girl bops, and
wacky snacks like fruit gushers, and you probably think of
them fondly.

Speaker 13 (04:55):
But all the nostalgia around the nineteen nineties has made
us forget the rampant exploitation, violence, and tragedy that also
characterized the decade.

Technica pregame show on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Into the Adena Health Systems pregame show. I'm now talking
to Paint Valley head coach Sean Pinwell, Coach, I know
it's been a very difficult time for you guys this year.
Your record hasn't been really what you wanted it. But
as a coach, how do you how do you keep
your team mentally into it each week?

Speaker 3 (06:02):
And how has your team responded?

Speaker 14 (06:04):
Well?

Speaker 15 (06:05):
I think I think our team's response response has been
pretty well.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
We keep putting together good practices.

Speaker 15 (06:10):
Are young guys which we have quite a few freshmen,
and and they've already are starting to make arrangements for
offseason weightlifting. Like the guys that are playing basketball are
talking about lifting in the mornings before school. Other guys
are talking about, you know, when's weightlifting start went over
starting offseason. So so I think their mindset going forward
is really good. Our senior's mindset, they're they're frustrated, they're

(06:33):
used to winning. H They've been part of a successful
program in the past three years. Unfortunately, you know a
lot of a lot of guys have graduated that were
very complimentaryd a senior group.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
They struggle with some frustration, but all in.

Speaker 15 (06:46):
All, when when we come together and we're having practice,
they're having gone they're working hard and they're trying to
get better each week.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Well, coach, you talk about getting better, talk about some
of the bright spots you've seen from your team.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Here this year.

Speaker 15 (06:59):
There's there has been a lot of growth through through
the season. Uh, take away, take away our injuries. If
you look from from week one to where we're at
now and the personnel we're playing, we continue to get
better or we're just one step away where we're at
that all most states, but we're not quite running the corner.
And again, the kids keep working hard, keep their heads up,

(07:22):
really happy with the way they carry themselves each week.
You know it's been frustrating, but they picked themselves up,
hold their heads high, and carry themselves winners.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Well, coach, tonight, your opponents is the Zane Trace Pioneers.
What do you see on film from the Pioneers and
what do you expect from them here tonight?

Speaker 15 (07:41):
Zaan Trace is very physical across the board, but up
front their line is really solid. Their running backs run hard.
Of course, their run run dominant team.

Speaker 16 (07:51):
Uh.

Speaker 15 (07:51):
But when they do have to throw the ball, Uh,
they've made some big plays through the year throwing the
ball when they have to. And I expect them to
be very simil as what we've seen all year. They're
going to drive the ball and use some playout and
try to hit it over top for some big plays.
And we've got to be able to respond and handle

(08:12):
adversity and rise up to the challenge.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well, coach, we appreciate your time and best luck tonight.
We appreciate you allowing us to talk to you here today.

Speaker 15 (08:21):
Well, thank you, Thank you guys for your coverage of
the kids throughout the area. It means a lot to
the leg and to the communities in Ross County in
southern Ohio.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Well, we appreciate that, coach.

This is hometown high school football coverage with the audio
Technical pregame show on ninety four Country WKKGA.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Health Systems Pregame Show. I am now talking to Zane's
trace coach, Dylan War's coach. How do you handle where
your team is right now? There's a lot of unknowns
and your team is really dependent on the results of
other teams right now?

Speaker 3 (12:11):
How does that? As as a coach, how do you
deal with something like that? Well, I can't even see
the players.

Speaker 14 (12:17):
The coaches have looked at it, and obviously we do
coach stuff and we've looked at different scenarios and what
can go on and this and that and this and that,
and who wins here, who wins there.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
But from a player to coach standpoint, we barely spoke
of it.

Speaker 14 (12:29):
We've said, we played Paint Valley this week, we played
in the next week, and then we'll worry about who
we're playing week eleven when week eleven comes. The players
have done a really good job of that. They're not
trying to look forward to anything other than what's on
the current week.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I guess another question to that is, how do you
feel about the twelve team playoffs? We've went from sixteen
down to twelve, and now you're also getting four teams
with a buy. What is your initial reaction to something
like that makes feelings?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Personally?

Speaker 14 (12:57):
I think I got to get through a full season
with the kind of be a part of it to
really have an opinion on it and exactly how I
like it. I do think it creates a bit more of,
you know, an accomplishment to make the playoffs. Obviously eight
was really hard to get into, and then you go
to sixteen and it's not quite as hard to get
into it, you know, when you make it in the

(13:17):
twelve it obviously makes it a little bit more accomplishment
knowing the four teams got cut out, the whole buy
thing and all that. This is obviously new to high
school football in Ohio, So I guess I'll kind of
have to go through it and be a part of
it and then maybe form an opinion after that.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Well, coach, you get to this time of the year
and a lot of times you know you will rely
on your leadership from your team. How has that leadership been?
And talk about the seniors, especially since they have been
with you now for three years.

Speaker 14 (13:47):
Yeah, they're a tremendous group. Great to work with, a
joy to work with, look forward to work with them daily.
They work hard, just a group in generals, fun to
be around. They've been consistent the entire year, whether it
was Week one and we're getting ready for a Week
one after a big win, after a big loss, it
really doesn't matter who the opponent is, what week it is,
They've been very consistent showing up to try to work hard. Overall,

(14:10):
I really can only say good things about them as
a group as a whole.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well, coach, your opponents this week, The Paining Valley Bearcats
have had a very trying season. What do you see
from them and what do you expect from them tonight.

Speaker 14 (14:23):
They still have their quarterback back from the past two
years who has done a very good job the last
two times that we've played them, and they got a
couple of nice skill guys. If they get the ball,
you know, out on the edge or something like that,
they can make some explosive places. It's no mystery they
probably had had the season that they were hoping for.
This late in the season, we're aware that they're going
to be playing pretty free and kind of we don't

(14:45):
have anything to lose mentality, So as a coach, we
just got to make sure we're ready for that and
anything that could come in the game plan with that
attitude of mentality.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Well, coach, we appreciate your time and best luck tonight
on the field.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I appreciate it. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (14:58):

Run a business and not thinking about radio, think again,
because more people are listening to the radio on iHeart
today than they were twenty years ago. And only iHeart
broadcast radio connects with more Americans than TV, digital, social,
any other media, even twice as many teens than TikTok,
and that reach means everything. Just think about the universal

times the response rate equals the results. Now, let's get

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Welcome back to the Indiana Health Systems Pregame Show.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
We're now going to.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Look at some of the keys to tonight's game. The
keys to the game are presented by Home Loans by jen.
The key to better living starts with a visit to
home Loans by Gen with helpful credit plans to get
you approved faster. Look for Home Loans by Gen on
Facebook and secure the keys to your new home with
Jennifer Conleay Andrew, what do you see as some of

(18:50):
the keys for tonight's game.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Well, I think for Paint Valley, it's really simple. You've
got to get Zane and Tracey's offense off the field.
You have to find a way to do that, right
they have they play. The guys that play, almost all
of them play both sides of the football, and nobody
wants to spend thirty minutes of forty eight minutes of
actually trying to tackle Bryce Johnson and Jaydon Higgins. So
you got to get Zane trace offense off the field

(19:13):
so that your offense could take over. I think if
you're Zane Trace, I think early on tonight you do
what you do, and you establish the run and you
pound the football. But I think it's also a night
where you can start to look ahead, you know, two
weeks from now when the playoffs are looming, and if
there's things that you want to get better at, now's
the time to do it so that you can actually
go do that when the time comes. So I think

(19:35):
for Zane Trace, again, it's just do what you do,
but also mix in some things that you want to
get better at.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Yeah, And as a coach, is I talked to coach
where's there? It's a very difficult time as a coach
because you cannot control anything, right, you know, you love
to be able to control your own destiny.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
You see that written next to your name. Things are good, but.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
When you're in a spot where you can't and you
have to rely on others. You know, they're one game
behind Unioda in the league standard. If Unioda will happen
to trip up, someone else beats them, they're right there.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
But they're also there as far as the playoffs go.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
You know, they could be anywhere from six all the
way down to thirteen missing out on the playoffs just
because of what other people do.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yeah, and it's one of those things, like you said,
it's out of your control. So when things are out
of your control, the only thing you can do, and
the only thing that makes it feel better is control
the things you can control, which is right now tonight
against Paint Valley. Do what you do, win this football game,
and then go from there.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
And again this football game tonight against Paint Valley for
Zane Trace, it's not senior night. They have one more
home game next week against Adina. Paint Valley will be
on the road, I believe next week at Southeastern. So
again one more week left for both of these teams.
We do not know where we will be, yet we

(20:55):
will somewhat determine that as this game goes on, and
maybe we'll be a to tell you by the time
we're done, but we'll take a quick break come back

won the toss and they took the.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Ball right away.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
So as Andrew was saying, you know, do what you
do best, and that's what they do best. Offensively, Zay
Trace is going to be in their royal blue uniforms
with some red and white piping along the short the
white numerals outlined in red red helmets with Zane Trace
or z T on the side. And we have Paint
Valley in the white uniforms with black numerals outlined in

(25:13):
yellow yellow hats with a believe that is the numerals
on the side. Boy, that really helps us out too.
It does so again we're getting ready to start here.
We'll get the offenses and defenses set here as we
get ready to start. The kicker for Paint Valley is

(25:35):
going to be Preston Fauber, the quarterback. He also plays
linebacker on defense and now he does the kicking.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Duties as well, a little bit of everything.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
So back deep for the Pioneers that is I believe
Jaden Higgins and also Mason Hartley. I believe that's going
to be a short kick and it's going to be
caught at about the forty four yard line of the
Pioneers by number seven by Grady Stewarts. So that'll bring

(26:06):
out to zain't Trey's offense led by their quarterback Gunner mccallough.
He's gonna have Bryce Johnson and Jayden Higgins in the
backfield with him. Hudson Williams, Lucas Euler, Grady Stewart and
Mason Hartley will be the receivers as they go.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
In and out.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
The offensive line, who's a really good offensive line, Blake Brower,
Blake Payne, Connor Smith, Lane Reeves, and Evan Minor. Under center,
goes mccaullough for this first app he moves Higgins and
Hudson around in the backfield, throws it out to Bryce
Johnson in there, he goes around the right hand, left.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Hand side, I should say, and he's.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Going to get a quick fifteen yards down the field
for another first down.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
Yeah, just a little sweet play out to the left.
Johnson hit the whole hard and it was a good
ten yards down the field before he was even touched.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Great push there by that side of the offensive line,
as well as Hudson and Jaden Higgins as they moved
them into blocking.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Areas. We'll get the paint valley defense.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
We had some players that could not go tonight by
various injuries, and we're gonna get that set here in
just a second. McCullough hands off to Higgins. This time,
he goes around the left hand, fins.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
The finds room.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
He's going down to the left hand sideline, little stutter move,
and he's going to get all the way into the
end zone for a touchdown. That'll be a forty one
yard touchdown run by Jaden Higgins.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
There were about three different times I was sure he
was going out of bounds, and he found a way
to stay in bounds and kept his feet about him
and just kept going and made his way into the
end zone.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
He just flat out stopped at one point, let somebody
run right by him, and then he went straight up
the left hand sideline. So forty one yard touchdown run
by Jaden Higgins and Preston Lane is on for the
extra point attempt.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
And it is up and good and good.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
So that makes the two coore seven nothing here two
plays into.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
The game for Zane Trace. Yeah, not to start you
want us your paint Valley. But again that all of
that on both of those runs by Zay Trace started
up front and nobody touched anybody on Zane Trace, uh
for a good fifteen twenty yards that on that run.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
So again, just as we talked about in the Keys
to the Game, payt vat or, Zane Trace wanted to
come out and do what Zane Trace does and that's
what they did when right down the field in two
plays went fifty six yards for a score.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
With eleven twenty.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
Two to go here in the ball game, and as
we get ready to have Zane Trace kick off to
Payint Valley, we're going to see the kick. Zane Tracey
is going from right to left on your radio dial
that is west to east, and that is Preston Lane.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Who's going to be kicking off and.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Back deep for the Paint Valley Bearcats is Jace Reinhart.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
And I can't see the other guy over there.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Yeah, it looks like maybe number five Brendan Icon.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Okay, And that kickoff goes all the way down to
the twelve yard line where Jace Reinhart will get it.
He goes around the left hands, cuts back to his right,
and he's going to get up to about the twenty
two yard line where Paint Valley will get started on offense.
Paint Valley's offense will be led by their quarterback, Preston Fauber.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
He will have in the backfield with him.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
We believe Jace Reinhart and Max Montgomery. His receivers Brennan
Iisen and Owen Donahue. And the offensive line will be
Brady Kwman, Gabe the Hatious Camden Butler, Bryce Blanton, and
Josh Newberry. And we see Fober come out in the

(30:06):
pistol formation. I believe that is Montgomery behind him pitch
out too though, that's Jase rein Hardy's gonna go around
the left hand side.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
He get some good yardage, but he's going to.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Make it up to about the twenty nine yard lines,
so we'll give him a gain of six on that play.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Yeah, really nice run there.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Offensive line on the left side did a good job
of setting that edge and he was able to get
outside for about seven theres So if you're paint Valley,
that's a good sign early.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Zaint Trace defense, Blake Brower the defensive end. The other
defensive end is Lucas Eyler, Lane Reeves and Evident Minor
the defensive tackles. We'll get the rest after this play.
Fober waits a snap back to pass quick pass out
and it's going to be a little too high as
that was intended for number five Brennan Eisen.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Yeah, just overthrew him a little bit there. Uh, Prustin
Fober is a really good quarterback. He's uh put up
really good numbers the past few years. So h' see
if they can give him some time tonight to set
his feet and throw.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Yeah, three year starter there.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
The linebackers for Zane Trace, Hudson Williams, Bryce Johnson, Grady Stewart,
and Peyton Arthur's. In the defensive backfield, you have Mason Hartley,
Jaydon Higgins and gunner McCullough. Fober now waits a snap
in the pistol formation again, quick pass out his defender

(31:34):
or defender did a great job. Faber now just sort
of comes forward and what a great job of just
pitching it. Not even a throw, oh, but a pitch.
And then they're going to say it was a fumble.
I don't think Zaint Tracey even realizes that. So they're
gonna say Zaane Trace ball on this. There must have
been a fumble after the play or right at the

(31:57):
end of the play where Zainet Trace came up, but
I think they're doing that a fumble on Follower, But
to me it was clear he.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Was He threw the ball forward, all right.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
So it'll be a turnover, huh for the z Ain't
Trace pioneers. And as we had talked about with Payton Valley,
there's not a whole lot of moving h Everyone plays
pretty much both ways and no one went off the
field there, So caught me off a little guard there.
As Zaint Trace now gets their offense set to go

(32:30):
on the field to play, now we're going to get
a time out by Zane Trace because they weren't ready.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
They didn't, so I'll tell you what. We'll take a
time out as well.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
It is the accurate heating, cooling and plumbing game of
the Week on ninety four Country w KKJ.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKGA.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
All right, as we come back, there was a play
run and that was a handoff to Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
He goes forward for about two yards.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
That'll bring up a second and eight at the thirty
three yard line of the Paint Valley Bearcats have a
better job.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
There by Paint Alley's defensive line of getting you know,
beating someone on the other side.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Bryce Johnson takes a handoff, comes around the left hand side,
has an opening.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
He gets through that opening. He's going to get all
the way to the end zone and that is going
to be a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
That'll be a thirty three yard touchdown by Bryce Johnson.
So again another two play drive for the Zaint Trace Pioneers.
This time Johnson takes it in from thirty three yards
out for the touchdown.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Well, nobody on Paint Valley looks all that excited about
at the thought of trying to tackle Bryce Johnson. I
can't say playing with Blue that he he runs so
hard and is just really really strong.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Preston Lane on for the extra point.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
His kick is up and it is good, right, good
point after So with ten oh nine to go here
and the quarter, it is now stands Zane Trace fourteen
and Payne Valley zero.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
It feels like we've had a lot of these kind
of moments in the games we've covered lou where early
on one team comes out and all the momentums going
their way, and I think those are the kinds of
times where you find out what the other team has
made of how do they respond in those kind of moments.
So be interesting to see if Paint Valley can put

(35:26):
a drive together here and do some.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Positive things offensively. Yeah, and again.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Very difficult to do with this offensive line of Zane Trace.
All year long, they've been able to get rushing yards.
Even in their two losses, they were able to run
the ball very well in that group of Blake Broward, Blake, Payne, Connor, Smith,
Lane Reeves and Evan Minor have done a wonderful job

(35:55):
here for the Pioneers. As we get ready for kick,
Preston Lane has the ball said at the forty yard line.
Back deep is Jace rein Hard and Brennan Eisen and
the kick comes down to Jace reyan Hard at about
the fifteen yard line. He goes straight up the mine
and now cuts to the left.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
You guys trying to find some room.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
He's gonna go down around the twenty three yard line.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Then that is will Paint Valley.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Will start their offensive possession, the second offensive possession, first
one ending in I don't know if we're gonna call
that an interception on follow or what.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
I wish I could tell you, Lou. You know one
unfortunate thing here, you know in this is the way
the season is unfolded for Paint Valley is you look
at the guys on the other side, on the other
side line who are who are injured, and a lot
of them are guys that they would consider some of
their best players and their seniors. So what that does

(36:54):
is a bunch of kids that are younger that maybe
aren't ready for this, have kind of been thrust into
that action.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Faulberg tosses out to Ryan Hart and Reinhardt trying to
find some kind and they tried to come back to
the right hand side and it was a great job
there by. I believe that was number fifteen.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Hudson Williams. Who is he?

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I believe he's the leader for the SBC and tackles
this year so far, he has done a good game.
I believe that game against you and the otto, you
guys had mentioned his name quite a bit.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
He was everywhere, made all kinds of plays on the
defensive side of the football.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
So that brings up a second and fifteen. Now with
the loss of five on that play, as Peyton Valley
comes out, they're at the eighteen yard line. Faulberg goes
back to pass, looking downfield, looks for a man. He's
got it and he caught. Believe that is number two
Owen Dona Hughes a nice passed there on the left
hand side. He's going to get a gain of about

(37:50):
eleven bring up about a second or third.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Down and four.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Yeah, just a simple out route route run by Donahue
and Farber put it right on the money.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, you'd mentioned Faber.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
He's a three year starter at the quarterback position, and
last couple of years he's had some nice weapons to
throw the ball and hand the ball off to. This year,
due to injuries and things like that.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
It just hasn't been the safe.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Farber waits a snap, goes back to pass, looks to
his left. Now he's going to scramble. He's going to
get the first down. He cuts it back to the
right hand side. He's got a lot of room. He
gets up to about the forty four yard line and
that's going to be a gain of thirteen yards by
Preston Faber. Again, good job of him bringing the ball
down and taking what was open.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Yeah, sos Ain Trace is playing man defensively right now,
and so right now they don't have anybody to account
for Farber.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
And that's twice.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Now that Fober has rolled to his left and found
a little bit of space to run.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
The pressure true.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
So Fober and the Peyton Valley Bearcats break the huddle.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
They come to the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
You have two receivers to the left, one or two
to the right.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Brings one in motion.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
He's going to hand it off to number four and
he's going round the left hand side, and that is
Ethan Burke.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Ethan Burke's going to.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Get well, we'll give him right back to the.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Line of scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
And again we're finding out some of these players that
are filling in for the injured players.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
And that is number four Ethan Burke.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
Yeah, just a little jet sweep there for paint valley
and just trying to mix things up.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
So give Zane Trace multiple things to think about.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
And again that's one of those kids thrust into action
of freshmen here late in the year. Fauber breaks the huddle,
He's going to have rein hard behind him, pistol formation.
He's back, the pass finds no one, he goes up
the middle. I believe he passed the line of scrimmage.

(39:58):
He ended up throwing the ball, but I don't know
if the referees Yep, they're gonna throw the flag there.
He's gonna be pass the line of scrimmage and that's
going to be an illegal forward pass.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Yeah, he rolled out to it, stepped up through the pocket,
rolled out to his right, and had gone just about
a yard too far when he threw the ball, So.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
That'd be a loss of down, I believe. Also.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
I believe yeah, that's going to bring up a third
down and fourteen. He did a good job of going
up through the pocket. I think he would have been
better off just trying to get downfield as far as
he could.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
Now sets up a third and fifteen here for Payton Valley.
Obviously a tough spot to be in, but they do
have the ability to throw the ball, so I'm sure
we'll see them attempt to do that right here.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
All right, they break the huddle.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
They have three receivers to the left hand side, one
to the right, with rein Hart behind Fober.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Ryan Hart now goes in motion. Ay, lookout, and that.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Is going to be picked off by number twenty five
Peyton Arthur. What a great job of reading the quarterback,
stepping right the front and getting the interception. He thought
it and he went down right away, and it's going
to be at the thirty three yard line.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
It was just kind of like a little wide receiver
screen there, and Peyton Arthur's read it, saw it coming
the whole way, and at the last second jumped right
in front of it. And Peyton Valley's pretty fortunate he
got tripped up there because there was nobody else in
front of him.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
No, there wasn't.

Speaker 2 (41:31):
And again that's two turnovers on the first two possessions
for the Payt Valley Bearcat. So Zane Trace takes over
in Payt Valley territory at the thirty three yard line.
Mccaulla goes under center. He has Higgins and Bryce Johnson
behind him, and here's a snap hand off to Jayden

(41:56):
Higgins right up the middle. He's going to be brought
down and after about a game of three, we'll take
him down to the thirty yard line.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Yeah. I got hit right at the line.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
But as both he and Bryce Johnson do when they
get hit, they're not gonna concede and just fall down.
They're gonna fight for every extra yard. And he got
about three extra yards there.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
Yeah, it's amazing. When you fall forward, you're going to
get another yard ard maybe two, Devin, and I'll tell
you are now for me, it'd probably be a half
a yard. But don't sell yourself shortly. Well, you know
I can stretch it out. Seven ten to go.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
Here in the first quarter, McCall on your center barks
out the signals, tosses Jadon Higgins going around the right
hand side trying to find an open He does find
an open and there.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Is a flag down. He gets it down inside.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
The fifteen yard line, but there is a flag in
the backfield probably the area of.

Speaker 3 (42:51):
Holding and that is a call.

Speaker 2 (42:54):
So that'll bring that ploy back and march Dane trace
back ten yards.

Speaker 4 (43:01):
Yeah, really nice to design play there by Zay trace
uh Higgins off the right side and had plenty of
space to run, but that could have been because somebody
did something that weren't supposed to live well.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
And again, these running backs do a great job. Once
they get things spread out and get them tossed out
there in the out or outside, they find opening and
once they find them, they don't wait. They go right
through that opening as quick as they can and get downfield.
So this will bring up a second down and seventeen
toss out here to Bryce Johnson to the left hand side,

(43:34):
finds an opening, he gets stopped by one, he breaks
that tackle, breaks the second tackle, a third tackle, and
a ford tackle, and he's going to get all the
way into the end So we're gonna give him a
forty yard touchdown run as he broke five tackles on
the way to the end zone, and that'll be touchdown
number two for Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
This one of forty yards.

Speaker 4 (43:57):
Well, that's just a really good athlete doing really athletic things.
There were multiple times he should have been brought to
the ground and they just weren't able to do it.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
So Preston Johnson, are Preston lane On to.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Try the extra point?

Speaker 2 (44:16):
That one is no good and that's going to go
a little to the left. So with that missed extra
point attempt, the score now stands Zaint Trace twenty and
Payton Valley zero. Will take a quick break here you're
listening to the accurate Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Game of
the Week one ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 1 (45:39):
This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Preston Lane's kickoff is brought down at the twenty three
yard line. There it's fall on by number twenty two
for Paint Valley David Shephard. So that is where Payton
Valley will start their third offensive possession. As they break

(46:09):
the huddle, Preston Fober comes to the line of scrimmage.
Farber awaits a snap, turns hands off and he was
met there by number I believe that it's fifteen again

(46:30):
Hudson Williams. And again that ball carry I believe was
number twelve maximum. Where was that rein Hart? That Ryanhart
to ball carry? Jason Reinhart there and he was met
quickly by Hudson Williams one yard behind the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
Yeah, you know, if you're Paint Valley, when you're overwhelmed athletically,
which is the case now, you're playing against big, strong,
fast guys, you have to do everything right and if
one thing breaks down, it's hard get going the other way.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Oh, a little fake reverse.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
And hands off to another guy coming through.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
That was number twelve for Payt Valley.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
He ends up carrying them all, Max Montgomery, nice little
game there.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
We'll give him six yards there on the play.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
We'll give him five yards on the play that'll bring
up a third down and six.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
Or Paint Valley.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Yeah, freshmen, they're running hard between the tackles and taking
the opportunity that was given to him.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Yeah, and again, if you're Paint Valley, it's one play
at a time. You got to try to get some
positive plays stacked together and see what happens.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
Fober waits a snap back to pass.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
He's rushed out of the pocket and ad is number
five for Zaane Trace. Lucas Euler came from his defensive
end position and got him there as fast as he
could and Fober had no chance, couldn't even get his
feet set, no chance.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Came off the line and nobody had a chance of
blocking him on that.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
So great job there by Oiler, and that's going to
bring up a fourth down now and fourteen after a
sack of seven, and.

Speaker 3 (48:16):
I believe that is fober back to punt. Yeah, Swiss
Army knife.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
And that punt's going to come over here to the
right hand sideline. It's going to go out of bounce
in Zane trace territory. So Zane Trace is going to
take over at their own forty eight yard line. So
second time they will start in their own territory as
they start their possession at the forty eight with four
nineteen to go here in the first quarter, and they

(48:44):
lead twenty to nothing around the SVC. Tonight, you have
Huntington at Adena. That's a big game for Huntington after
coming off a big win at Westfall last week that
you and Trey had on the air pikedon is at
Westwall and again big game for both of those two
as they're trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and
Unioto is still going for that gold football as they

(49:05):
lead the SVC. Right now, they are at Southeastern on
our sister station WBEX. It is Greenfield McClain at Chillicothy. So,
Zane Trace comes out and we're gonna get a flag
here before anything gets started. We're gonna get a legal
procedure on Zane Trace. As they said, somebody moved in

(49:28):
the interior line of scrimmage. That a back it up
five yards brings the first down and fifteen.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
Yeah, I think if you're Jay Trace, this is kind
of the time where if you're wanting to mix some
things in, get some things going in the passing game.
You've earned the opportunity here to take some chances if
you want to.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
There you go, Gunner McCullough back to pass. He finds
Mason Hartley way downfield. He got behind the defenders and
that's going to be a four fifty two yard touchdown
pass from Glennard mccallaugh to Mason Hartley. So just as
I tell you what, Andrew, you've been making calls like
you are.

Speaker 3 (50:08):
What's his name from, Tony Romo, Tony Romo.

Speaker 4 (50:14):
Well, it just it seemed like the right time, and
they've run the ball so effectively that they do, you know,
do the fake on the handoff, and then Mason Hartley
was wide open deep and got her McCall threw a
great ball there to hit him for the touchdown.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
And Preston Lane's extra point is good. So that now
makes the score Zane Trace twenty seven and Payte Valley nothing.
So first drive was two plays, second drive was two plays.
I believe the third drive was three plays, and this

(50:53):
drive now was one play. So four offensive possessions, four
scores for the Zane Trace Pioneer.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
That's what we call efficiency.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
Looking at other scores around the area, West Fall does
lead payt Valley in the first quarters seven nothing. It
is a dina on top of Huntington seven to six
in the first quarter. Circleville trying to keep their playoff
hopes alive. They're up fourteen to six on Liberty Union
and Andrew. This was sort of a shock if Miami

(51:22):
Trace was up fourteen nothing. But Jackson just now scored.
There were fourteen to seven over Jackson. So Miami Trace
over Jackson and Chilicothy leads McClain fifteen to eight.

Speaker 4 (51:34):
Yeah, that might be Trace Jackson game. I think could
be a really good one. It probably decides the fac
this season, and both teams I'm sure are going to
come out desperate, fired up, ready, to win and U
and the Oto.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Leeds Southeastern fifteen nothing in the first quarter.

Speaker 3 (51:51):
Preston Lane's kickoff, it's.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
Going to be touched at the fifteen yard line.

Speaker 3 (51:57):
Ryan Are is able to recover that one. It was
all most of Farmer.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
But they're going to take over at their own fourteen
yard line. So good job by Preston Lane. A directional
kickoff over towards the sideline, and that forced paint Valley
to make a decision whether either pick it up or
let it.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Go out of mountain. It didn't go out of a mountain,
it didn't.

Speaker 4 (52:14):
It didn't and because of that, it took a while
for Paint Valley to field the ball, and by the
time he did, he was dropped immediately.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
So very good kickoff by Preston Lane.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
So for twelve to go here in the first quarter,
they ain't trace up twenty seven to nothing. As we
await the snap here for paint Valley, Fauber is still
in a quarterback. He's got three receivers out to his left,
one to the right, and Jase rein Hard behind him

(52:46):
in the backfield. Faber back to pass. He looks deep
down the middle, and that's going to be picked off
by Gunner mccalaugh. He picked it off at the forty
two yard line. He's taking him back cuts back to
the left, and I think he's going to get all
the way the end here Andrew nice cutback by gun
and McCullough, and that's going to be a pick six.
That's going to be a forty two yard interception return

(53:08):
by Gunner McCullough. So he just had a pass that
he threw and now he's got an interception return. So
that is McCullough forty two yard interception return for Zane Trace.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
Yeah, Faber had the receiver open there. He just kind
of floated it a little too high and a little
bit too much toward the middle.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
I'll call it. Made a great read, picked it off
and went to the house.

Speaker 2 (53:34):
So here we go Preston Lane with the extra point.
That's going to be up and good. So with that,
that makes the score now Zane Trace thirty four and
Payne Valley zero.

Speaker 3 (53:48):
We'll take a quick break.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
You're listening to the accurate eating Colleen and Plumbing gave
it the week on ninety four country w KKJ Okay.

Speaker 34 (53:55):
I have to tell you I was just looking on eBay,
where I go for all kinds of things I love,
and there.

Speaker 35 (54:00):
It was that hologram trading card, one of the rarest,
the last one I needed for my set, shiny like.

Speaker 7 (54:06):
This designer handbag of my dreams.

Speaker 3 (54:09):
One of a kind.

Speaker 36 (54:10):
eBay had it, and now everyone's asking, ooh, where'd you get.

Speaker 37 (54:14):
Your windshield wipe? Bir Ebe has all the parts that
did might come on.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
No more annoying, just.

Speaker 38 (54:20):
Beautiful, millions of signs, each with a story. eBay Things
people Love.

Speaker 39 (54:27):
iHeartRadio goes one on one with Taylor Swift on connecting
to old feelings when performing her songs.

Speaker 40 (54:33):
I think that for the sake of the fact that
I know people want to hear those songs, you should
go back to those places emotionally and kind of channel
what you were feeling when you originally wrote it. So
you kind of have to plug into channeling and old emotion,
which is just kind of the same thing that actors
do when they're on camera.

Speaker 39 (54:50):
Keep listening to iHeartRadio for more of Taylor Swift and
all your favorite artists.

Speaker 1 (54:55):
This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country w KKJA.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Preston's Fobbers or I'm sorry. Preston Lane's kickoff goes down
to about the fifteen yard line. It's going to be
returned by number four Ethan Burke, another freshman out there,
and he tries to make something happen, but he's going
to be brought down around the fifteen yard line during
first and ten Payton Valley and they're going to take

(55:23):
a quick time out here to sort of bring everyone
together and gather everyone's thoughts over there on the sideline.

Speaker 3 (55:33):
Yeah, I played on some.

Speaker 4 (55:37):
Not so successful teams in high school Loo and there
are just times where you go out and teams are
just more athletic.

Speaker 3 (55:45):
They're bigger, they're stronger, they're faster, they're.

Speaker 4 (55:48):
Older, they're they're skilled, and it's like, no matter what
you do, it's just hard to get anything going. So
the best thing you can do is just keep competing
every single play, go out there, try to make something
positive happen.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
That's what you have to do for Paint Valley right now.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
And talking to coach Penwell, he says, the kids have
done a good job up to this point age of
doing that each week in and out, and I think
now a lot of injuries have just short of run
its course where it's almost really tough for them to
put a team on the field that's going to be
able to be competitive. So, but hats off to Paint

(56:25):
Valley and what they're trying to do and coach Penwell
and as coaches are still continuing to coach and trying
to bring.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
Something positive to these kids. So hats off to that.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
And a lot of people would ask a question while Andrew,
why are you and lou doing this game. This is
a game where we try to get all of our
teams in the SVC covered, and this just happened to
be a game that we hadn't got the Paint Valley
yet and we wanted to make sure they get on there.
And you know, we want to cover as many athletes
as we can, and that's what we're trying to do.

Speaker 4 (56:54):
Yeah, I mean, and these kids have gone out and
they've practiced every day, and they've showed up on Friday
nights and they deserve some some time in the spotlight
as well.

Speaker 2 (57:04):
So Paynte Valley breaks the huddaw and they come out
with two receivers to the right and two to the left,
actually two to the right, one to the left and two.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
In the backfield, we get a.

Speaker 2 (57:17):
Number five running icing coming around the right hand side.
He makes the first guy miss and he's going to
get a game from about four yards up to about
the twenty two yard line.

Speaker 4 (57:25):
Yeah, another Jets sweep there by Peyte Valley going the
other way. This time Icen's able to pick up a
few yards.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
So other scores.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
West walls up fourteen nothing on Python right now, Huntington
leads Adina now twelve to seven. I believe that's a
case where Huntington probably still doesn't have their kicker.

Speaker 3 (57:45):
Back is out from Yeah, he's out for the year.

Speaker 4 (57:48):
Okay, so yeah, they're probably going to go for two
for the remainder of this season.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
So Paynte Valley comes out with two receivers right to
the left Farber in the backfield with Jace rein hard
clock running at three twenty to go here in the
first quarter, Fober back to pass, scrambles now to his left,
throws the ball down the field. Nice cop that number four,

(58:20):
I believe Ethan Burke.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (58:23):
Uh, Fober rolling out to his left again finds Burke
just past the first down marker.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Oh wait, oh we got a hold, We got a
hold in the backfield.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
I'm going to say that would have been the first
first down.

Speaker 3 (58:36):
Of the game.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
But now they're going to back it up halfway to
the goal line.

Speaker 3 (58:42):
That's going to bring it second down and call it
fifteen from the eight yard line.

Speaker 2 (58:51):
But again, nice play there, nice rollout in, good catch.

Speaker 4 (58:55):
Yeah, he's Preston Fabler has been very accurate as he's
rolled out, all right.

Speaker 3 (59:02):
So two receivers left, one of the right, Faber and
rein Hart. In the backfield.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
Farber back to pass, goes straight back, tries to pass it,
brings the ball down.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
Now he's scrambling.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
He's going to be brought down in the backfield at
about the three yard line, and that is number seventy seven.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
Blake Brower.

Speaker 4 (59:23):
Yeah, had some maybe a couple seconds right at the
beginning of that drop back, but that Saint Trace defensive
line is just really good and physical and they're not
going to give you a lot of time to just
sit back there and throw.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
So that's going to bring up now a third down
and twenty from the three yard line for Paynt Valley.
As they trail thirty four and to nothing here in
the first quarter, Farber waits a snap hands off to Rhin.
Hardens goes right up the middle and he gets probably.

Speaker 3 (59:59):
Right takes the ball, so he'll.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
Move it up to the four yard line and I'll
bring up a fourth down. Looks like we got an
injured player for the pat Valley Bearcats, one of the
interior alignment, so we'll get a quick time out as
we go through some of the other things we have here.
Fans tonight's game, we'll be available for a replay starting

Friday Night Live, presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing.
Here on ninety four Country WKKJ and also on Buckeye
Country one oh five point five. This first quarter was
brought to you by Home Loans by jen.

Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
As.

Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
To see who that is leave it's a seventy number
seventy two that should be Camden, Butler a.

Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
Get another senior and another kid that paint Valley can't
afford to do without, So hopefully it's just bruised up
a little bit and hopefully he can come back later
in the game.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
He's their center, so we'll see who fills in for him.
But other scores around the area. Circleville now leads Liberty
Union twenty eight to six as they try to make
the playoffs on their first year head coach Jay Sherritt.
Hamilton Township leads Bloom Carroll. That's a big game in
the Mid State League seven nothing. Chillicothe still leads McLean

(01:01:47):
fifteen to eight. Jackson now has tied up Miami Trades
fourteen fourteen, and Uniotas still leads Southeastern fifteen to nothing.
So Faber goes back to punt from his own end zone.
In his end zone, he gets the punt off, it's
going to come down to about the forty seven yard
line and that is where Grady Stewart will take it.
He goes right up the middle, cuts back to the right,

(01:02:09):
now to the left, and it looks like he's going
to get it.

Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
All the way into the end zone. So that will
be a that a thirty thirty odd yard Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:02:24):
So because Peyton Valley was backed up so far, they
had to keep extra guys in to protect and uh,
it just kind of gave Grady Stewart all kinds of
room to run. And uh he started one way and
made a really nice cutback and was off to the races.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
So that is a thirty eight yard punt return for
a touchdown by Grady Stewart and Preston lane on to
attempt the extra point, which he is four or five
so far tonight, and.

Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
That one is going to be up and good. So
now scores to.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Hands at forty one to nothing for his ain't trace
here with one thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
Five to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
So again, as we go through this first quarter, a
couple other.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Games of notes as the scoreboard keeps refreshing on me.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
And again, in high school football, the rule is if
you're up by thirty in the second half, it'll be
a running clock. But there has also been sometimes throughout
the years where some coaches have just decided, you know what,
let's just do it in the first half when we
get to a point where it could be so we
could get to that point here, maybe at the end
of the first quarter where we will start with a

(01:03:47):
running clock.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
But we will let you know if that is what
something is coming about.

Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
Yeah, you know, a certain point in the game with
a score. It's not really benefiting either team much at
that point to uh to play more football.

Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
So we'll see if that takes place or not.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
So Preston Lane's punt comes down to a fair catchack,
Yes he did so, that was fair cotton by number
five Brendan Iisen, and that is where they will pick
up from the twelve yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:04:28):
It's like Zane Trace is gonna work in some of
the second unit here. Several of the starters are gonna
take a seat.

Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
And we will get as many as we can on
the air. Looks like number yeah said.

Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Fifty one, possibly taking over at center. Therefore Payne Valley.
Actually that might be their guard moving over to center.
Gabe de Haas, Faber waits a snap. Fumble's a snap

(01:05:13):
balls loose in the backfield, and I think Faber was
able to fall on it, and I'll keep it Payton
Valley possession. But now the ball is going to be
back at the five yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:05:25):
Yeah, just never really had a handle on the snap,
and I was trying to catch the snap and hand
off at the same time, and I just wasn't able
to field it cleanly. So now they'll be in a
tough spot here. Second in about eighteen from their own
five yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
And again that was a point where you have the
new center in there and that could have changed things up.
And Faber was not used to that time of snap.
So we'll see Farber waits at the goal line, turns
hands off to Reinhart. Ryan Hart's going to get up

(01:06:04):
to about the eight yard line as he runs out
of bounce on the far side on that'll.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Bring up about a third and called eighteen.

Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Yeah, oh, Donahue Lou has one of those the shell
on his helmet. It's supposed to protect more against against concussions.
This the first time I've seen a high school player
with it.

Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
And again coach had talked about how he's had a
couple of players this year dealing with concussions. Yeah, and
again it's good to see that we have equipment that
can keep people even safer. Handoff now that is going
to be in the backfield. Are they're going to give

(01:06:52):
me to the one yard Let's say he got out there,
so they're going to say that little end around by
number four Ethan or he was able to stay out
of the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
He's going to get it on the one yard line.
That'll being a fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
Down for the Paint Vallet Bearcats. And again Grady's story
goes back to receive this punt, and that punt is
going to be the.

Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
It's going to be the end of the first end
of the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
So at the end of the first quarter it is
Paint Valley or Saint Trace forty one, Paint Valley nothing.

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
All right, as we come to Zain Trace High School
in update Adina has scored and we've gone ahead of
the Honeyton Huntsman now fourteen to twelve in their game.
Here it is forty one nothink Zane traison for Paint Valley.
As we get ready to start the second quarter, and
it's the start of the quarter, we're gonna see Payne
Valley punting from their own one yard line for Aster

(01:09:05):
Faber back deep the punt and he gets it out.
Nice punt.

Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
It's gonna come.

Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Down around the thirty yard line to Grady Stewart. This
time he's going to be heading in a little bit
by the Payne Valley bearcounts. He tries to get away
from one, but he caught it at the thirty and
they're going to give him.

Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Back to the.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Thirty seven yard line is where they're going to market.
So he ended up losing some ground there. A good
job there.

Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
I believe that was Ethan Burke back there a number four.

Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
Yeah, with as high as that punt, was probably better
off just calling the fair catch. But Stuart just tried
to make something happen and can work out.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Yeah, just as we expected here.

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
The second quarter will be run here with a running
clock as it is continuing to run here. Eleven twenty
to go here in the second quarter. Second quarter is
brought to you by Shine on Chillicote dot Org. McCullough
under center, turns around, hands off the Bryce Johnson right

(01:10:15):
up the middle and he's.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
Going to gain about five yards.

Speaker 4 (01:10:21):
Yeah, probably, uh, probably gonna keep things pretty vanilla here
if you're if you're saying trace h A lot of
runs up the middle, a lot of keeping it simple, uh,
trying to make this clock, make this clock run.

Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
And we'll see probably last possession for the starters who
for Jane Dre's most likely. Also update, uh, west Fall
up twenty one nothing over piked in right now.

Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
Wow, that's a that's a that's an impressive bounce back
after last week.

Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
So again, that's a home game for Westfall. So the
mess Dang's trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. Hand
off to Bryce Johnson. He goes up the middle. He's
waiting on his blockers. He's going to get a first down.
He's going to bring up or game about nine on
that play. That'll bring the first and ten out of
twenty five yard line for his ain Trace Pioneers.

Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Well, death taxes and Bryce Johnson getting a lot of
yards on a few carries to Lou He has six
carries for one hundred and.

Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
Four yards now in this game.

Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
The amazing thing is I believe he's averaging about ten
yards of carry for the year.

Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
Yeah, that's impressive.

Speaker 4 (01:11:27):
It makes the job of the play caller a lot
easier when you feel like we can just hand to
this guy and get a first down every time.

Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
You are exactly right.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Yeah, we're starting to see the center and quarterback here
getting ready on the Zain Trace sidelines. So mccallough's still
in there. He's going to hand off this time. That's
Jayden Higgins. I believe he's coming around the right hand side,
has a lot of room and he's gonna get stall
man at the one yard line. So that'll be a
twenty four yard game down to the one yard line

(01:11:59):
by Jaden Higgins as he was very patient and his
running trying to stay behind his blockers.

Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
Well, Jaden Higgins at the very end of that place
stretched the ball out as he was going down and
it looked like he got over the end zone, but
the official had him down with the one.

Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
Yeah, we didn't. We don't have the uh pylon came level.

Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
We should talk to Trevor Thomas about that. See, I
see if Zane Trace can get on that.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Well, we'll talk about the shot clock coming into high
school here soon. Yeah, I know that a lot of
states have talked about that, So you and I can
talk about that here in a little bit. Yeah, Guna
McCullough keeps it as he goes around the left hand side,
he's going to get into the end zone and that'll
be a one yard touchdown run by Gunner McCullough. He
has one by pass, one by interception, and now one

(01:12:47):
by rushing.

Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Yeah, not a bad night, not a bad night. Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
That's his first rushing attempt of the night, which is unusual
for Zane Tracey. They like to mix him into that
rushing attack quite a bit, but just haven't had the
need to so far.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Pressing lane on for the extra point the hole there
by Grady Stewart, who has done a great job as well,
and that is good. So now this course stands Saint
Tres forty eight, Payton Valley. Nothing so, Andrew. When we
talk about some of these changes of rules and things

(01:13:23):
like that, you know the play clock, we see it.
Most high schools have a play clock actually on the field.
Uh huh that you can see. It looks like the
push is to have a shot clock.

Speaker 3 (01:13:35):
I'm into high school basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
I believe there's close in twenty states around the United States,
and that ever implemented.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
That for this year. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
So at one of our Coaches Association meetings, one of
the guys that was kind of leading the meeting said,
it's really a matter of when not if Ohio gets
a shot clock.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
So it's coming. We're going to get it.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
And you know, they'll sometimes when they they're considering something
like this, they'll they'll send out a pole, they'll send
something out, you know, getting our thoughts. And I always
just kind of feel like these things are going to
happen whether I like it or not. So I'm not
going to put up a fight. They just got to
adapt and and be ready to change with the times.

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
Yeah, basketball coaches are used to no one really taking
what we think as important.

Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
You know, we just sort of go with the flow,
and that's how it is.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Honeyton Huntsman now back up on top of a data
eighteen fourteen over.

Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
There in Frankfort. That's been a back and forth first
half in Frankfort.

Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Preston Lane's kickoff comes down to about the fifteen yard line.
Jase Reinhart will take it. He comes up the left
hand sideline. He's going to run out of bounds at
about the twenty six yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Jase rein Hart caught that kickoff, and all of a sudden,
there were three Blue jerseys right in front of him,
so he made the correct decision to go ahead and
step out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Jackson now leads Miami Trace twenty one fourteen. They ever
done fourteen nothing. They've scored twenty one straight points. You
Nioto is up thirty six nothing on Southeastern. That is
at the end of the first quarter. All right, So
as Zane Trace comes out, looks like we see number
seventy two back out there on the field for Payint

(01:15:22):
Valley's good to see him back out there at center
for Paynt Valley. Camden Butler Fober is still in their
quarterback Jason Reinhart behind him. Now he's going to clear
out the backfield. Three receivers to the left or to
the right. Two to the left brings in motion Ethan Burke.

(01:15:42):
Are Burt's going to come around him. Fober is going
to toss it back to Burke two I for him
and goes over his head. Burt's smart enough to go
back here and just fall on top of that ball.

Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
Yeah, it was an option play. Fober kind of turned
inside and by the time that he wanted to pitch it,
there was another player in between, and so he had
to pitch it higher than he wanted to and it
went over.

Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
Brookes said, yeah, that's a loss of fifteen or ten
on that play that brings up a second down and
twenty from now the sixteen yard line, six point twenty
three to go here in the first half, Bobber hands
off the right ard around the left hand he does

(01:16:29):
not get back to the line of scrimmage. That's going
to be a loss of two on a play, and that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
Is going to be Blake Brower there on that tackle. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:16:41):
Right now, Valley's offensive line just having trouble winning any
one on one battles and Zan Trace is getting into
the backfield pretty easily.

Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
So that brings up at third and twenty two from
the fourteen yard line. We'll have two receivers to the right,
one to the left. Jace rein Hard in the backfield
with President Fauber. Ethan Burke comes in motion, hand off
to Ethan Burke as he comes around the left hand side,

(01:17:14):
He's gonna be stopped even further in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
That's gonna be a loss of carry five. And that's
Grady Steward.

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
It came up from his linebacker position and did a
great job of that's actually from the safety position.

Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
Yeah, he uh, he.

Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
Was on a mission to bring down the ball carrier.
And now Zan and Trace we'll get ready to catch
this punt and see what they can do offensively.

Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
That's a loss of six that of bringing down a
fourth down.

Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
And Grady Stewart goes back to his own or Paynton
Valley forty yard line to receive this punt. Faber in
his own end zone awaiting to snap, gets a snap,
his punt is off bounce at the thirty five, picked

(01:18:05):
up by Stewart at about the forty four.

Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
He's going to be hit, but he keeps going.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
He gets around one guy comes around here to the
right hand side, up the sideline. He's going to be
out of bouncing about the thirty yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
Well, Grady Stewart's just a really good athlete. He's tall
and athletic and he can run. So when he touches
the ball, good things tend to happen.

Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
So as we get ready here to get the new
Zane Trace possession started, we're going to see a lot
of new Zane Trace pioneers here on offense, and we're
going to have to dig deep.

Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
Into our our rosters here.

Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Number eighteen is going to be your quarterback, that is
Bryce and Payne, and he's also going to have I
believe that's number six, Jake.

Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
Stafford, number two, Levi Marshall in the backfield with him.

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
That Stafford gets a ball, number six, he goes up
straight up the middle for about a gain.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Of five over.

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
So that's Jake Stopfer he's a sophomore, and number eighteen
Bryce and Payton's a freshman.

Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Yeah, this is a great experience.

Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
You know, as a young quarterback, no matter what you
do in practice, you just can't simulate game reps. And
so to be able to as a freshman to get
out here on Friday nights under the lights, uh, it's
it's always a positive thing.

Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
So paying hands off to Staffer again, and Staffer is
going to get upfield for about a gain of two
on that play to bring up a third down and
two from the twenty five yard line. Yeah, it's a
big difference between aus Saturday morning, yep, where it's nice
and sunny outside the Friday night where you have the lights.

Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Of it about two.

Speaker 4 (01:20:07):
It's always a little different. When the popcorns popping, Liot.

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
That's it looks like we had a player that was
asked to go out. I don't know if that's an
equipment issue or what, but play stopped quickly for that
to happen, and here we go two thirty eight to go.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
Here in the.

Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
First half, Zane Trace has a third and two on
the twenty five yard line of Pink Valley by sort
of looking around. It's like it's play called it toss
back to number two for Zane Trace.

Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
And that is.

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
Marshall, Levi Marshall, and they're gonna say he did not
get that. So interesting here in we're going to see
a fueld goal to temp we are and again this
is one of those.

Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
Things you can't simulate this in practice.

Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
So this is going to be a forty one yard
field goal to tempt by Preston Lane. So as a
coach you always want to see in a game situation,
how far can we get? Yeah, Grady Stewart's a holder
kick is up and it's going to be no good
to the left.

Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
He had someone of the leg to get there. I
think he had a distance, but it was no good. Yeah,
went wide left.

Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
So again a.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Good good chance there to see where we are, and
now the coach knows. So with the clock at one
thirty to go here before halftime, possession now goes to
Paint Valley out the twenty yard line and they will be,

(01:21:57):
I think, very content to get it to halftime.

Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
Yes, this is a this is a tough thing as
a as a coach to go into a locker room
at halftime. Uh when the when the game is just
lop sided. But I think, I think what you have
to do is just create measurable, attainable goals for the
second half. What are some little victories that we can

(01:22:19):
win and hold on to as we as we leave
here tonight, and.

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Again probably knowing you're going to get you know, the
second teamers or the JV team, I guess you could
say for Zane Trays coming out here in the second half.
And so Father at quarterback with number twelve now Max
Montgomery behind him, turn hands off to Montgomery. Montgomery goes

(01:22:46):
to the left hand side, find some room, gets up
for him for about eleven yards. We're going to get
a flag on the play, may get two flags on
the play here, So I'm thrown at two different spots.

Speaker 4 (01:23:01):
Well, hopefully if you're paint Valley the both on Zane
Trace because that was a that was a positive run.
Good things happen. You got a first down on that run.
On the outside by Montgomery.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
So the clock has run out here in the quarter.
So if it is against Saint Trace, we are going
to get another play. So it looks like a personal foul.
Two personal fouls actually between against Zane Trace. Let's see
if they march both of them off. Well, there's the
first fifteen, and now we're going to get a second fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
So this would be a.

Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Thirty yard addition to the eleven yard run by Paint Valley,
and that's going to take it all the way down
to Zane Trace forty one.

Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
Now, well, with this untimed down, as you mentioned, Lou,
you're you're in a situation where you can throw a
hill Mary and see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
Now, if your coach wears you got a lot to
talk about it, yeah, you do tell you the locker
room there, guys, we're not going to do this in
the second half. We're going to go out there and
play how we need to play and so on and
so forth.

Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
But one on time down here or no, we're not
going to get it up time down, huh, And that's halftime.

Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Well I always thought you couldn't end a half on
the defense of Pederal evelody. It looks like that is
what we're going to get. So we're going to go
to halftime here at Zane Tray's High School with the
score Zane Tray's Pioneers forty eight payt Valley Bearcats Nothing.

halftime huddle. Glad you could tune us in here tonight.
Executive director of the OHSAA, Doug Ut is our guest.

Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
Doug.

Speaker 44 (01:27:36):
Even though it's football season, I want to skip ahead
to March because the basketball final four last year, we
had the state semifinals that other places and then everybody
came to Dayton for the state championship games. I know
the plan this year is to have the semifinals and
the finals in the Dayton area, not all at UD

(01:27:57):
Arena necessarily. But have we settled on a format and
locations for that yet or is that still in progress?

Speaker 46 (01:28:05):
Well, we're about ninety nine percent done tod as we speak.
It's sitting on my computer right in front of me
the schedule and we're trying to work some times out.
But all finals will be at the University of Dayton.
But again, you know, we didn't have Right State available
to us last year. We do this year both weekends,

(01:28:26):
and so we'll be playing games at Right State and
Dayton and we may have to use a third site.
And the girls just because of availability of the arenas
or how many games we can get in in each arena.
So the girls will be a three day format, the
boys of four, and the boys are four simply because

(01:28:47):
UD is pressed on Thursday because of the play n
Cuba games and they can't use their facility Thursday morning,
and so that that pushes us to a four day format.
But again, all all finals will be at right or
excuse me, at the University of Dayton, but some semi
finals will be played there as well, and a lot

(01:29:11):
of semi finals will be at.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Right State, Well, it's certainly fifteen.

Speaker 46 (01:29:16):
Minutes from parking a lot to parking lot.

Speaker 44 (01:29:18):
Yeah, that's a pretty good arrangement. I think, similar to
what we just did with baseball this past year, except
even closer had games at Thurman, Munson and Canton and
then the rest of the games in Akron as we
as had been doing. I guess the last thing to
talk about is just something I like to throw out
there because I see the Browns building a new stadium

(01:29:40):
and I'm thinking that all of a sudden people are
going to want to play the state championship games inside
because a lot of other states do that. And this
is all theoretic and out in the future, but right now,
the Hall of Fame situation that you have for the
football finals seems quite ideal. It has really worked out

(01:30:01):
well for the teams and for the association for all
the finals to be there, hasn't it?

Speaker 46 (01:30:08):
It has, and it's the perfect And we talked about this, Todd.
You were probably there. I remember Joe Burrow and his
eleven thousand or so fans at the Shoe and that
barn Burner we had their few years back and you know,
eleven thousand in the shoes still seems like eleven hundred,
you know, from a noise. But if you take the games,

(01:30:31):
you know, to the Hollow, we always stay with the
Hall of Fame. So it's an NFL experience, just not
as many bleachers, you know, you know, roughly seventeen thousand
seats in there, and two years ago we had Maslin
and hopin with nearly fifteen thousand people in the stadium
and it was awesome, awesome environment for the kids. And
so I want to get the kids that that big

(01:30:51):
time experience, which the Hall of Fame does. And so,
you know, but one one thing too that we would
be pressed on, uh even to take it indoors uh
is uh. You know, they're still an NFL season then,
and you know, I can probably pretty much assure you
that they don't really have a whole lot of interest

(01:31:12):
in us being in there on Thursday, Friday, Saturday when
they play if they play a home on Sundays, and
and so because of practice times and stuff they have
to give to the to.

Speaker 30 (01:31:22):
The UH.

Speaker 46 (01:31:24):
Other the visiting team, you know, those kind of things.
But I will I will never never shy away from
the the to give the hasm family uh a pad
on the back for some of their venues. So you know,
missus HASLMS. We're very out of it about. She wants
high school sports and the old cru Stadium, and they've
made those affordable for us to be in.

Speaker 47 (01:31:43):
So you know, you never know.

Speaker 46 (01:31:46):
Sure it would be a lot more comfortable sitting in
there in a T shirt or a little sweatshirt.

Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
Than then the snow.

Speaker 47 (01:31:53):
But think about this, Todd.

Speaker 46 (01:31:55):
I don't know if you were there on Thursday night
last year, and I believe it's Cincinnati Anderson and Get
the team. They're playing Vision two game.

Speaker 47 (01:32:04):
It was snow, and I mean that snow was coming.

Speaker 46 (01:32:06):
Down and it went to the last play and from
my vantage point to one end zone. As I was
walking out after the game, they threw it that got
deflected in the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
They won.

Speaker 47 (01:32:17):
Let's say sixty kids on.

Speaker 46 (01:32:18):
The sideline from Anderson sprinted out and each one of
them did a little slide across the.

Speaker 47 (01:32:24):
Field and that snow and I thought that was awesome. Yeah,
and so.

Speaker 46 (01:32:28):
So you know, the outdoor brings some things. We're fortunate
too that we haven't got into a lot of their
cold but certainly the indoor conditions would be something that
I'm sure we'll have a chat about, but that that
NFL schedule would probably you know, the NFL supports high
school football, but they really support their teams, so they'll

(01:32:52):
be too frill to say, hey, let's bring in here.

Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
But you never know, Doug.

Speaker 44 (01:32:56):
Final thought, you mentioned the affordability of views and Crew
stadium there with the haslums. When you think about the
OHSAA and what you guys do with the money you
bring in and how some of it gets returned to
the schools. Are we back to maybe pre COVID levels
of reimbursing schools and taking care of them and tournament

(01:33:19):
settings and travel and such. Have you recovered to that
point where you feel like you're back to where you
were or maybe better?

Speaker 46 (01:33:26):
Yeah, Todd, we've been doing that at the regional and
state level, and so you know, one of the things
that we found at COVID time was, you know, we
have to change what we're doing because, as you know,
a lot of people have heard me say we're going
to get the nine months cash on hand, but we
had four straight years of death to spending and there's
no organization that can continue that and continue that model

(01:33:51):
of the way we're doing. Plus we're a nonprofit and
can't share in profits, and so we had to make
some changes that way. But we have reimbursed schools team sports.
We have reimbursed them in the past three four years
at the regional level seven hundred and fifty dollars a
game in the state fifteen hundred and I know two

(01:34:14):
years ago we did that. Plus we went back at
that year and added two fifty onto each game.

Speaker 47 (01:34:21):
And so we have been reimbursing our.

Speaker 46 (01:34:23):
Schools for those outs. Some people that are close, you know,
it covers plus and then others that are further away
it doesn't cover all their expenses. But you know, if
you think about you're going to get forty five hundred
dollars if you're playing in the state championship game for
reimbursements of the regional.

Speaker 47 (01:34:43):
State level, and so and that's that's.

Speaker 46 (01:34:46):
Every school and and so that's that's what an audit,
the auditors approved for us to do from a nonprofit situation.

Speaker 47 (01:34:54):
And so you know, and you.

Speaker 46 (01:34:56):
Know, in the last three years, two years ago, we
gave our membership twelve hundred and fifty dollars a piece
whether you want a tournament game or not. One year
ago we gave them two thousand back in August. This year,
this past August we did twelve fifty and so we're
doing what we said we would do. We get that

(01:35:18):
nine months pass on hand, and everything else is going
back to our membership.

Speaker 47 (01:35:23):
And we do give away two hundred and.

Speaker 46 (01:35:25):
One thousand dollars scholarships back to our student athletes in Ohio.
And so you know, we've been in a position to
be stable financially plus help our schools with their mission
of providing the interschool lastic opportunities for kids.

Speaker 44 (01:35:42):
At SOHSAA Executive director Doug You. Doug, as always, we
appreciate you taking time to talk with.

early on of like, are you going to grow up

Speaker 7 (01:38:40):
Are you going to be a train wreck?

Speaker 23 (01:38:42):
And what I kind of gathered.

From all that is that it's really important to grow

Back at Zane Trace High School where there's Aine Trace
Pioneers lead Paint Valley at halft Out and forty eight
to nothing. Well, Andrew, when we look at some of
the first half stats, what jumps out.

Speaker 4 (01:39:16):
At you, Well, Uh, for Zane Trace, it's just been
uh an ability to do whatever they want. Bryce Johnson
with six carries for one hundred and forty yards, Jaydon
Higgins with three for sixty eight. Uh, I'm gonnam call
at a one yard touchdown run. And then they had
the one pass one pass play, they're one for one

(01:39:37):
for fifty two yards and a touchdown. So, uh, when
you know they're they're scoring every couple of plays that
they have the ball, so really just able to do
what they want. And then on the opposite side for
Paint Valley, it's the other side of the story.

Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
Uh, they've they've they've.

Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
Had two picks out of five passes, They've run the
ball about fifteen times and have barely broken positive yards
on those those runs.

Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
And again you look at the scoring drives for Zane
Trays two plays, two plays, three plays, one play, interception return,
hunt return, and then their last one, I believe was
three plays after they had Jade and Higgins running the
ball down into the one yard line and mccallull ran
it in. So a very fishing offensive night or Zane Trace,

(01:40:30):
and I'm pretty sure that's what Dylan Ware has wanted coming.

Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
Into this game.

Speaker 4 (01:40:34):
So yeah, well, it gives you a chance to maybe
work on a few things, keep your guys fresh, keep
them from getting injured, which at this time of the
year is a big deal because everybody's a little bagged.

Speaker 3 (01:40:47):
Up at this point in the season.

Speaker 4 (01:40:50):
So to be able to have just a few reps
for your main guys and then get your younger guys
in there and get them a chance to get some
live action.

Speaker 3 (01:40:57):
This has gone about as well as could where's could.

Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
Have hopes, and again when we get to the second half,
we will also have the running clock going on, so
it'll be a quick second half for us, and we
will trying to get all the players' names that are
going to be coming in in the second half. We
saw some at the end of the first half, but
we will try our best to get all those on
the air as good as we as well as we can.

(01:41:21):
When we come back, we'll look at some scores around
the SBC in the area and also look at some
playoff scenarios. You're listening to the Audio Technica halftime report
on the Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Game of the
Week on ninety four cut three wkkj Okay, I have.

Speaker 34 (01:41:38):
To tell you, I was just looking on eBay where
I go for all kinds of things I love, and
there it was.

That Hologram trading card, one of the rarest, the last
one I needed for my set, shiny like this.

Speaker 7 (01:41:49):
Designer handbag of my dreams. One of the kind.

Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
eBay had it.

Speaker 36 (01:41:53):
Now everyone's asking, ooh, where'd you get your windshield wipe?

Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
Bro?

Speaker 37 (01:41:57):
eBay has all the parts that did my come on.
No more annoying, just beautiful.

Speaker 38 (01:42:04):
Millions of fines, each with a story. eBay Things people love.

Speaker 49 (01:42:08):

Speaker 1 (01:42:38):
Hometown high school football coverage continues. Today's game is presented
by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing on ninety four Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
Welcome back to Zaine Trey's High School, where Zaint Trace
leads Payton Valley forty eight to nothing and a half
time around the SPC tonight, West Fall Leeds piked at
thirty three to seven at the half. Also at a
half it is Huntington leading Adena twenty eight to fourteen.
And also at the half it's Unioto leading Southeastern forty

(01:43:09):
two to nothing. The Chilicothy Cavaliers lead McLain Tigers twenty
nine to eight that nears halftime.

Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
And also another.

Speaker 2 (01:43:19):
Big game around the area is the Miami Trace and
Jackson where Jackson leads Miami Trace twenty one to twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
At the half.

Speaker 2 (01:43:28):
So as we look at going into Week ten next week,
you look at the playoff scenarios.

Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
This year is kind of new.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
There's twelve teams, not sixteen like last year, so only
twelve teams are gonna make you out.

Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
In each region. The top four of those teams in each.

Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
Region get a buye, so they get a week off
in Week eleven.

Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
Andrew initial thoughts on.

Speaker 4 (01:43:50):
That, well, it'll be interesting to see just because the
buye isn't something that's been a part of high school football.
So for every team in that situation, you're gonna have
to figure out a new process. Figure out what are
we going to do during that week off? How much
time we're going to spend on ourselves, how much time
are we going to spend on our potential opponents. You know,

(01:44:11):
it'll be interesting because it's just so brand new. So
we'll see how teams handle that.

Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
So Seeds five through eight in the first round are
going to get a home game against Seeds nine through
twelve and area teams. Where they stand right now in
the region in the SBC, Unioto is in Division four
Region fifteen. They sit forth, so they sit in that
last by spot. Also in Division four Region fifteen is

(01:44:38):
Westfall and they sit at number twenty. Tonight they're leading
the Piked in red streaks. Can they theoretically go from
twenty to twelve? The answer is yes, but there's a
lot of stuff that hasn't happened that is out of
their control. All they can control is keep winning. Looking
at some others, Circleville is also in Division four Region fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:44:58):
They sit ninth.

Speaker 2 (01:44:59):
We saw as Tigers against Westbah earlier in the year
and they're a really good team. And tonight they lead
Logan or Liberty Union thirty five to seven at the half.
We look at Division three Chilikathi Region twelve. They six
seventh in that region, so they could possibly get a
home game in the first round. Some other SVC teams

(01:45:22):
that are still.

Speaker 3 (01:45:25):
In it theoretically for the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:45:27):
This Saint Trace team sits seventh in D five Region seventeen.
Also in the same region, sitting sixteenth is piked in
Division five Region sixteen, and the last one is Huntington.
They sit twelfth in Division six Region twenty four.

Speaker 3 (01:45:44):
Andrew thoughts on some of those teams. Yeah, so u
Niota is going to be in.

Speaker 4 (01:45:48):
The question is you know do they do they do
they host you know in that do they get to buy?

Speaker 3 (01:45:54):
You know, where do they fit?

Speaker 4 (01:45:57):
Zane Trace is almost assuredly in assuming they take care
of business. There are some crazy scenarios where a lot
of things would have to happen for them to fall
to thirteen. But I think they're going to be in
Huntington if they handle their business, if they win tonight,
which they're up twenty eight to fourteen and a half,
and then if they're to beat piked In next week

(01:46:18):
again another team that should be in. It's going to
be tough for piked In and Westfall piked In, especially
with the way the game has gone tonight, there's there's
probably little to no chance and West fall. Again, a
lot of things would have to happen for them to
get into that top twelve. So looking like we'll probably

(01:46:39):
have three teams in the playoffs. So and I think
all three would have a chance to win that for
their first game wherever that falls, I think all three
of them would would would would be a it would
be a winnable game for them. So it's an exciting
time of year where these last couple of games of

(01:47:00):
the season means so much.

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
And then you know, once you get into that playoff scenario,
it's it's one and done. So you you go in
and you leave it all on the line, and you
keep going as far as you can.

Speaker 2 (01:47:13):
Yeah, and people are wondering, you know, well, how will
you cover the playoffs. We're going to continue to cover
someone as long as they're in the playoffs from the
SBC or the area, and that basically is decided based
on league standings. So if Uniodo goes on to win
the league, we're gonna cover Uniodo throughout there. If they

(01:47:34):
would happen to have a buy in the first week,
then we're gonna cover you know, whoever ends up second
or third in the league.

Speaker 3 (01:47:40):
Depending on how there goes. That's sort of how we've done.

Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
It in the past, and uh again, that's sort of
how we're going to look at things as we move forward.
But hopefully we're going to be around in week twelve
or eleven, twelve, thirteen.

Speaker 4 (01:47:52):
That'll be fun. Yeah, it would be a lot of fun.
So try to keep this going as long as we can.

Speaker 2 (01:47:57):
Well, we will be right back for the second and
a half kickoff. You're listening to the accurate eating, coolleen
and plumbing game of the Week on the ninety four Country.

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (01:49:14):
All right, as we get ready for the second half kickoff,
we'll see a some different people in different spots here
for both teams. Starting with the second half kickoff, it's
Caleb Skaggs. It's going to kick off for the Zane
Trace Pioneers back deep four. Looks like Payton Valley is
Jace Reinhard and Brennan Isen as they await the kick

(01:49:36):
of Caleb Skaggs. Skags kickoff goes all the way down
to the bounces around the eighteen, icing gets it around
to ten. He goes to the left now trying to
find it opening. He's going back to the five. Now
he's back to the two and he's going to get
tackled back there at about the one yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:49:54):
Yeah, Iceon kept looking for a lane, and as he
was looking for a lane and kind I kept getting
pushed back and further and further close to the end zone.

Speaker 3 (01:50:02):
And they're going to start this drive on the one
yard line. So again that goes back to the kickoff.

Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
Caleb Skaggs good job of getting the ball deep in
the territory. And again we talk about kickoffs a lot
of times in or Uniota has a fabulous kicker and
Liam Matthey who gets the ball deep a lot on
the kickoffs. But Zaane Tracey has done a good job
here tonight, Preston Lane, and now Caleb Skaggs is getting
the ball deep in the territory making it hard for

(01:50:30):
Payne Valley.

Speaker 3 (01:50:32):
We've got a.

Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
Whole new crew of defenders here on the field for
Zaane Trace, the little name, as many of those as
we can.

Speaker 2 (01:50:39):
All right, So Payne Valley gets a handoff, and I
believe that was a new quarterback in there as well, because.

Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
I see Preston Falber running.

Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
At it like an h back and if he would
turn his jersey around and let me see, is that Isen.
I think it is Brendan Sen now at quarterback for
Payne Valley, and he handed off to Jase Ryan Hart
there and he got back to line of scrimmage. Show
it's still second and ten at the one yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:51:06):
We've got Jake Stoffer out there, number sixteen, Gabe Renner.
Preston Lane is playing some linebacker here for Zane Trace.
It's a kicker playing that a linebacker Mike Nugent style,
the yeah there you go.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
So Iceon takes his nap. He goes straight forward with
the ball and he's not going to get now they're
going to get him out just outside the end zone there.
Zane Trace was calling for the safety, but they're going
to get him back to the Lion scrimmage right at.

Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
The one yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:51:39):
Bring up a third down and ten got Will Boreland.
We've got Connor Smith.

Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
Again. Just trying to pick out.

Speaker 4 (01:51:47):
All the new names and faces that are out on
the field here, Gavin Jean, number five, Lucas Oiler is
still in the game. Then all right, Lane Reeves is
another defender out there for Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (01:52:06):
So tight formation here, almost like a tush push formation.
Ford Paint Valley as icon takes a ball and he
goes straight forward trying to get some yard Ee gets
out about to the two yard line. Now now bring
up a fourth down and nine and Fober goes back
towards the back of the end zone to punt.

Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
Faber has punted a lot from his end zone here tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
He's done a good job of handling the football, not
fumbling around back there, not stepping back and looks like
number six is it back deep to receive this punt,
and that is number six Jake Staffer for Zane Trace
at his own thirty two yard line or Payt Valley's

(01:52:51):
thirty two yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
Nice punk pie.

Speaker 2 (01:52:54):
Faber gets back to the thirty five yard line. That's
where Stafford is taken. He goes back a little bit.
Now's coming to the right hand side. Now gets up
field and cuts back to the left. Finds him opening.
He's got a shot. He's going to go back to
the left. He's gonna and Faber a great job I'm making.
Jerry does not get to the end zone. A nice
run there by Jake Stopfer.

Speaker 4 (01:53:16):
That's a that's a high character play by Preston Fouber,
a kid that's played both ways. All night in a
game like this, could easily just give in and you know,
not give it one hundred percent, but he was determined
not to give up a touchdown on that.

Speaker 2 (01:53:32):
So I had to bring up a first and goal
at the five yard line for Zane Trace. And again
we mentioned some of the second teamers in there for
the Pioneers and their quarterback Bryson Payne is back in
to take the snaps with number six Jacob Stoffer and

(01:53:53):
number two Levi and Marshall in the backfield with him.

Speaker 4 (01:53:56):
Gavin Walker in the game as well. Sorry Kevin Waller.

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
Staffer with the ball, he's coming around the right hand side.

Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
He's going to get into the end zone for a
five yard touchdown run. So at the seven thirty two
mark of the third quarter, that'll be a five yard
touchdown run by Jacob Staffer four the Zane Trace Pioneers.

(01:54:27):
And it looks like now we're going to get the kicker,
Caleb skags on for an extra point attempt being held
there by Grady Stewart. Staffer's kick is up and good.
Where Skaggs his kick is up, it's good. So now

(01:54:48):
that makes the score Zaane Trace fifty five to nothing
over Pink Valley fans. Tonight's game will be available for
replays starting tomorrow morning, and click w KKJ and look

and on Bug Eye Country one oh five point five.

Speaker 4 (01:55:30):
As Zane Trace gets ready to kick off your lou
Something that's been in the news here this week is
that there's an athlete in Ohio suing the OHSAA for
the ability to uh capitalize on name, image and likeness,
something we've seen a lot in the college game. What
are your thoughts on on that?

Speaker 2 (01:55:50):
Well, Anders, Since I uh being a former teacher now,
I was always told by students and staff that I
wore a lot that's a shoe I wear, and they
always told me, hey, you should get a sketcher's.

Speaker 3 (01:56:06):
Endorsement deal, So I think I'm all right with it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
I think players, coaches in today's day and age, if
someone wants to give you money to do something for them,
I think the word amateur is loosely used anyways today.
So if there's someone out there that wants to gives
somebody money to endorse their product, by all means, go
for it.

Speaker 3 (01:56:28):
Are you wanting me to tweet that? Sketchers? And that's
what I was here available, That's what I was thinking.

Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
It's it's something I really enjoy doing and they fit
my feet very well in my older age, So Sketchers
is something I like to wear well.

Speaker 4 (01:56:47):
As your agent, I'll acquire that every tenth pair of
Sketchers goes to me.

Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
Okay, all right, So that's a handoff there. That is
number fifteen now in playing quarterback for the Paynton Valley Bearcats.
And we did not have a kickoff there. They just
went ahead and handed Payt Valley the ball at the
thirty yard line, and that is number fifteen, Bryson Woods
in that quarterback for Paint Valley. And again we got

(01:57:14):
a lot of new players in the game, and we
will get as many as we can across the airwaves
to you. So again number fifteen in a quarterback that
is Bryson Woods. He's got two receivers tos right to
his left and one running back in the backfield with him.

(01:57:35):
He turns to throw a Woods throws downfield to is
that caught or intercepted? He threw it to number four
Ethan Burn. But it looks like that is going to
be our man, Jake Stoffer, who's.

Speaker 3 (01:57:49):
Having a heck of a game.

Speaker 4 (01:57:50):
Yeah, right, he's making the most of these opportunities. And yeah,
it was a kind of a jump ball play and
he just kind of the ball away from the receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
So again that'll be a turnover for the Zane Trace
Pioneers and they will get the ball at their own
forty eight yard line. That was a nice pass by Woods.

Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 4 (01:58:11):
He put a lot under it and gave his guy
a chance. The Zane Trace player just made a better play,
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:58:21):
So as Zane Trace gets ready to take over here
with five nineteen to go into the third quarter, first
intend at their own forty eight yard line. Pained tosses
back to staff or staffer coming. No, that's number two man,
that is Marshall comes around to the right hand side.
He really running hard there and he's going to get
a hard eight yards as he.

Speaker 3 (01:58:40):
Ran over the defender there at the end. Yeah, what
a luxury.

Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
Uh if you're Saint Trace to you know, go to
your second union unit and have guys that can run.

Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
Like like Levi Marshall did. There.

Speaker 2 (01:58:54):
Number thirty seven Griffin Staffer in and a wide receiver
for Zane Trace bringing in the play as a Pain
is looking for the play clock to go down a
little bit before he takes a snap. He does take
the snap back to Marshall again on the right hand side.
He makes one guy missed, gets down to the twenty

(01:59:17):
yard line. So nice run there and that's going to
be a gain of almost twenty three yards. So twenty
three yard gain thereby Levi Marshall running really hard.

Speaker 3 (01:59:28):
Yeah, he's really hard.

Speaker 4 (01:59:29):
He's finishing every run getting not conceding any yards.

Speaker 2 (01:59:34):
Game Renner in the game at a wide receiver. He's
a senior that we're in a pistol formation here with Pain.

Speaker 3 (01:59:47):
He is.

Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
He has one running back on each side of him.
He waits a snap, He's going to take it himself
to the right hand side, right up the middle, makes
one guy miss, second guy miss, and.

Speaker 3 (02:00:02):
He's going to get into the end zone. Four touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (02:00:05):
Twenty two yard touchdown run by Bryce and Payne for
Zaane Trace, so twenty two yard touchdown run with three
twenty two to go here in the third quarter. This
quarter is brought to you by Chillicothee Truck.

Speaker 3 (02:00:28):
Skags in for the.

Speaker 2 (02:00:29):
Extra points attempt and the holder is Grady Steward snap
hold and the kick is good with three to zero
one to go here in the third quarter. It is
now Zaane Trace sixty two payt Valley Nothing.

As we come back to action, the first play from
scrimmage was a Bryson Woods two yard past the logan
lester now to bring up a second down and eight
for paint Valley.

Speaker 3 (02:02:24):
Woods await to snap, gets it.

Speaker 2 (02:02:28):
He goes back to passing in deep downfield on the
sideline that is Ethan Burke.

Speaker 3 (02:02:33):
Did he catch it in bounds.

Speaker 2 (02:02:35):
No, they say he caught it out of bounds, but
a getting nicer.

Speaker 3 (02:02:38):
Up there by Woods.

Speaker 4 (02:02:39):
Absolutely, I mean that's a play on the outside. He
put it where only his receiver can get it. Unfortunately,
just was a step out of bounds.

Speaker 2 (02:02:47):
And again, this is a lot of freshmen here for
Payton Valley, so you know, as coach said, some of
these freshmen are starting to step up and play a
little bit better. That's a that's a good combination there
of Ethan Burke and Bryson.

Speaker 3 (02:02:59):
W Yeah, Bryson Woods throws a really good football.

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
So third down and eight for Peyton Valley from their
own thirty six yard arm Woods away to snap.

Speaker 3 (02:03:18):
Motion.

Speaker 2 (02:03:19):
Man tosses out here and he's going to be caught
in the backfield just as he catches the ball, and
that is going to be number fifty one, and that's
going to be Peyton Burnett.

Speaker 4 (02:03:30):
Yeah, Max Comper, number fifty was also back there. That's
two freshmen that were pretty explosive coming off the line there.

Speaker 2 (02:03:37):
They did sure did they read that play right there,
and they were there before he caught that toss. So
it looks like we're gonna get another punt here. By
Pink Valley, and that is not Flauber back there, but
I believe that is number sixteen.

Speaker 3 (02:03:52):
It's fifteen fifteen Bryson Wood. He gets his punt off
nice high spy, comes down on.

Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
The fifty yard line and rolls towards the Zane Trace
goal line and will be stopped at the forty four
yard line. So that is where Zane Trace will get
the ball here, as we will probably not see another
play here in the third quarter. So again looking at
some of the scores around the area, Jackson now leads

(02:04:22):
Miami Trace twenty seven to twenty. We have piked in
still trails West Fall thirty three to seven, Huntington still
leads a Dina twenty eight to fourteen, and u Nioto
still up on Southeastern forty two nothing. And on our
sister station it is the Chilicothy Cavaliers.

Speaker 3 (02:04:42):
Twenty nine to eight over Greenfield McLean.

Speaker 2 (02:04:52):
So we end the third quarter with the score sixty
two for Zane Trace, nothing for Pink Valley.

Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
First play from scrimmage Air and the fourth quarter Brice
and Paynon takes it right up the middle for five yards.

Speaker 3 (02:06:17):
That'll bring up a second down and.

Speaker 2 (02:06:19):
Five fourth quarter is brought to you by Mill City Apperil,
also our scoreboard sponsor on WKKJ dot com.

Speaker 3 (02:06:28):
Is Mill City Apparel. Toss back, this time to Levi Marshall.

Speaker 2 (02:06:36):
He's around the right hand side, he's got under opening,
gets down about the twenty seven yard line. So a
nice run thereby Levi Marshall of another.

Speaker 3 (02:06:48):
Twenty two yards.

Speaker 4 (02:06:49):
Although yeah, he's got fifty six yards on four carries
right now, and he's looking really fast every time he
touches the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:07:00):
And really both of these UH second team runners are
doing a really good job. Jake Stopfer we've already seen
had an interception and a touchdown running. So Zame Trace
comes up to the lion of scrimmage first and ten
from the twenty seven yard line, turns hands to Jake Staffer.

(02:07:22):
This time he's going to be stopped at around the
twenty one yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:07:38):
Well, you know, as we as we look toward the playoffs, Lou,
you know, I think there's there's a couple of things
that that I think we'll all be interested to see.
One is, if if Unioto does get the get the buy,
how do they handle that? You know how to Again,
because it's so new, you know, Zame Trace could could

(02:08:01):
potentially play a team they've already played in Amanda Clear
Creek how does that how would that battle shape up?
And then Huntington right now, if Huntington wins next week,
they will they would be their seventh win. That would
tie the program record for wins in a season. So
a team that's playing with a lot of confidence right

(02:08:22):
now and a team that I don't think a lot
of teams would want to see in that first round.

Speaker 2 (02:08:29):
All right, So we're waiting here for the next play
by Zane Trace and seems like they're waiting on that
play clock to get under ten and Bryson he takes
it right up the middle and he's going to be
short in the first down, it looks like, so bring
up a third down and one from the.

Speaker 3 (02:08:51):
Just inside the twenty yard line.

Speaker 4 (02:08:54):
Yeah, I just really impressed with these, uh these young guys,
saying Trace, there's definitely some ability there and guys that
can plug holes when this senior class graduates. So have
to feel good if you're a you're a Pioneer fan.

Speaker 2 (02:09:12):
So as we await the third down play, Payne takes
his snaphands off. The staffer who comes around the right
had side, gets to the ten, gets to the five,
He's going to be brought down at the three yard line,
and again that is Ethan Burke making the touchdown saving
tackle for Pain Valley.

Speaker 3 (02:09:35):
So we have.

Speaker 4 (02:09:38):
There are five Pioneers that have at least twenty nine
yards rushing tonight in this game. So getting it done
from everywhere.

Speaker 2 (02:09:48):
Again, if your coach wears, you got to love to
see all the action you're seeing from some of these
backups that are performing well. So Pain awaits a snap,
he's gonna take it himself and he's going to get
all the way into the end zone for a touchdown.

(02:10:08):
So that'll be a three yard touchdown run by Paying
his second of the nights, and we'll see mister Skaggs
come in for the actual porn attendant.

Speaker 4 (02:10:31):
Yeah, we're gonna have two matchups next week in the
SEC with some things on the line. Obviously uh Unioda
versus westfall Unyodo playing for a gold ball, and then
UH Huntington Piketon with maybe some playoff implications online.

Speaker 3 (02:10:50):
All right, we'll take a quick break here of.

Back at the Zane Trace High School where first played
from Scrimmage Woods scrambles to his left and throws downfield
to Ethan Burke and ball was thrown out a bounce,
so that'll bring up a second down and ten for
Payne Valley.

Speaker 3 (02:12:19):
As Andrews said, next week, we're probably.

Speaker 2 (02:12:24):
Looking at one of two games, could be Pipon at
Huntington or Westfall at Unioto, and we will make that
decision here sometime soon, if not before the end of
the ninth then definitely sometime early in the week, and
we will let you know where we will be next
Friday night. Hand off the Burke as he comes around

(02:12:44):
to the left hand side and he has taken out
abouts at the forty yard line, so that'll be a
gain of We'll give him six on that play.

Speaker 3 (02:12:54):
For Ethan Burke. Bryson Woods. I've been really impressed.

Speaker 4 (02:13:02):
Lou done a good job of staying composed even when
there's pressure.

Speaker 3 (02:13:08):
Throws a really nice ball.

Speaker 4 (02:13:11):
You know, only a freshman, he's going to get bigger
and stronger, and that's a kid that I think could
be a really good quarterback here in a couple of years.

Speaker 2 (02:13:20):
So he looks over to the sidelines for the play.
Last minute instructions, gets everyone set in the.

Speaker 3 (02:13:27):
Right spot to a series just left to the right,
wait to snap back to pass looking for Ethan Burke.

Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
He finds him, catches it at the forty two yard line,
makes the first guy missed, but then as he was
trying to make a move, that first guy reconnected with
him and was able to bring him down. But that'll
be a gain of about three on the play brings
up a fourth down and two from the forty eight
yard line of Payne Valley. Looks like you're going to

(02:13:58):
try to go forward here. I think this is one
of those moments where you're trying to make some positive
things happen here, and if you can get a first
down with this unit, that'll be a positive thing.

Speaker 3 (02:14:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:14:12):
Absolutely something to show on film and give guy's confidence.
It's like they may run this down. I need to
take a time out here. The play clock has been

(02:14:32):
expired for about six seconds. They're not gonna call anything.

Speaker 3 (02:14:36):
That's an awesome job by the referee. Absolutely absolutely play out.

Speaker 2 (02:14:42):
They tried to do a little inside hand off their
but nothing doing in there by.

Speaker 3 (02:14:45):
Zay Tracer interior was able.

Speaker 2 (02:14:47):
To snuff that out, and it's gonna be a turnover
on downs here By Zay Trace. But again a lot
of times they don't give the referees enough credit. But
in a game like this, that's what you do.

Speaker 3 (02:14:57):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (02:14:59):
So. So as Zane Trace now comes out with the
clock running at three thirty three to go here in
the game, look around at maybe some of the updates
around the area. Jackson and Miami Trace tied at twenty seven.
In the third quarner, Huntington's now up thirty four to
fourteen on a Dina West Ball still leaves Python thirty

(02:15:23):
three to seven in Chilikoth. He's still up on McLean.
So we wait to snap. Payne wait to snap for
Zane Trace looks over on the sideline for more instructions
and that's going to be a handoff.

Speaker 3 (02:15:42):
We've got a.

Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
New runner in the game there and that is number
twenty four, I believe for Zane Trace, and that is
Jamarian Aikin's King.

Speaker 3 (02:15:53):
Nice run by him as he went straight.

Speaker 2 (02:15:55):
Up the field for about thirteen yards.

Speaker 4 (02:15:58):
Yeah, uh was uh that was impressive. He's he's got
some shifting this to him.

Speaker 2 (02:16:05):
So again, that's what five Deep tonight for running backs
for Trace, all of them with runs of over ten yards.
So Payne's still in a quarterback for the Zane Trace
Pioneers is he awaits a snap, this time he hands

(02:16:27):
off to another running back who again makes a nice run.

Speaker 3 (02:16:30):
Number seventeen on this.

Speaker 2 (02:16:32):
Time that's Parker Smith and he's going to get a
gain of about nine on the player bring up the
second down and one with one to go, our game balls.

Speaker 3 (02:16:51):
Again.

Speaker 2 (02:16:51):
After the game, we're gonna have coaches comments, as Andrew
will go down on the field and try to secure
both coaches and get their comments on tonight's game.

Speaker 3 (02:17:02):
And again next week, Zaint Trace.

Speaker 2 (02:17:05):
Is at home against the Dina for Senior Night and
off again to number seventeen and that is Parker Smith
as he gets the first down and takes it all
the way down to the eleven yard line.

Speaker 3 (02:17:23):
And uh, Paint Valley. I believe.

Speaker 2 (02:17:28):
I have to double check on that, but I think
Paint Valley is on the road at Southeastern.

Speaker 3 (02:17:33):
I believe you're right. That could be an interesting game.

Speaker 4 (02:17:39):
I feel like both of those teams are gonna see
an opportunity at a league win, and we'll see both
teams come out and compete really hard.

Speaker 3 (02:17:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:17:48):
Again, Southeastern has I believe a pretty long losing strike
in the SBC.

Speaker 3 (02:17:54):
They're gonna want.

Speaker 2 (02:17:55):
To get that ended here at the end of the year,
and Paint Valley is gonna want to get their first
win the game as the quarterback Bryson Payne takes a
knee and that'll end the ballgame. Here at Zaint Drays
High School, you're a final score is Zaint Tray's Pioneers
sixty nine, Pain Valley Bearcats zero. You're listening to the

Speaker 2 (02:21:50):
Welcome back to Zaine Trace High School. This is the
Indiana Health Systems postgame Show. Looking at the scoring for
tonight's game, and again it was the final of sixty
nine to nothing for Zane Trace over paint Valley. Jayden
Higgins got the scoring started with a forty one yard
touchdown run in the first quarter. Preston Lane's extra point
was good. It was seven nothing. Bryce Johnson then added

(02:22:13):
a thirty three yard touchdown run. Lane's extra point was
good at fourteen nothing. Bryce Johnson then added another touchdown,
this one of forty yards.

Speaker 3 (02:22:24):
Lane's extra point this time was no good. It was
twenty to nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:22:28):
As we continue in the first quarter, Gunnar McCullough threw
a pass to Mason Hartley of fifty two yards for
that touchdown and the extra point by Lane was good.

Speaker 3 (02:22:35):
It was twenty seven to nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:22:39):
Mccallaugh then had a forty two yard Gunner McCullough had
a forty two yard interception return for a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (02:22:45):
The extra point by Lane was good.

Speaker 2 (02:22:46):
It was thirty four and nothing, and to end the
scoring in the first quarter, Greedy Stewart took a punt
return thirty eight yards to the house for a touchdown.
Lane's extra point was good. It was forty one nothing.
At the end of the first quarter. The only scoring
in the second quarter was Gunna McCall his one yard
run praying it I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (02:23:05):
Lane added the extra point. It was forty eight to nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:23:09):
In the third quarter, Jake Staffer went five yards for
a touchdown run. Calyb Skaggs this time added the extra point.
And we'll stop real quick and head on down to
Andrew with coach from Valley, John Penwell.

Speaker 4 (02:23:25):
With coach Penwell, coach, you know, you talked before the
game about how this group of young kids that's been
sort of pressed into action due to some injuries and
some other things that have happened, how they continue to
compete night after night. Talk about just their effort and
what that brings and what that means.

Speaker 3 (02:23:43):
Looking forward for you guys, rank looking forward to the futures.
Bright for US uh.

Speaker 15 (02:23:48):
Our freshman class we got twelve freshmen and twelve seniors.
We started three freshmen on both sides of the batto
night fourth got in quite a bit offensively and defensively.

Speaker 3 (02:24:00):
Uh. So that that's a.

Speaker 15 (02:24:01):
Bright spot, uh with those guys going forward, and then
our eighth grade class kind of compliments that class really well.

Speaker 3 (02:24:09):
Yeah, looking looking towards next year, I hate hate to do.

Speaker 15 (02:24:12):
That because we've got a really good group of seniors
here that that's that's put their time in and and
and they're great guys. They're they're great players go to
be around and uh, you know, you can't say enough
about them and what they've meant to this program.

Speaker 3 (02:24:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:24:26):
Of course, I was really impressed with Bryson Woods that
came in and played some quarterback. There was a really
nice ball Steve composed under pressure. Again as you as
you look towards what's ahead, that's a kid that can
could be a really good quarterback in the future.

Speaker 3 (02:24:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (02:24:41):
And the funny thing is he wouldn't want to play,
and uh I had him in math class and I
kept saying, Hey, you gotta play football, you gotta play football.

Speaker 3 (02:24:49):
I'm not playing. I'm not playing. And he showed up
to weightlifting one day and he hadn't left since. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:24:54):
Herging in the huddle talking about a one game season
next week a team you in Southeastern, Uh, chance to
chance to go get that first league win. Talk about
the mentality you guys will have going into that game.

Speaker 15 (02:25:07):
Well, I think, just for the senior's sake, I think
it's gonna give them one, one final one, final test,
and you know, we got a proud group of seniors,
We've got a proud program, and we're gonna go out
and give it our best shot and try to make
the most of it.

Speaker 3 (02:25:22):
Well, coach, thanks for the time, Good luck next week.
Thank you all right.

Speaker 2 (02:25:26):
That was Peyton Valley coach John Pinwell to go through
the scoring and finish that up. In the third quarter,
Bryson Payne went twenty two yards on a run. Caleb
Skaggs extra point was sixty two to nothing and the
final score was Bryson Payn a three yard touchdown run.
Skags also with the extra point that was sixty nine
to nothing. As Andrew awaits coach Dylan Wars as he

(02:25:49):
makes his way to Andrew again next week, still up
in the air as far as where we will be.
We will either be at Huntington where they will take
on on Pikedon or we will be at Unioto where
they will take on West Fall. And still waiting on
the final scores here from tonight's game, but we're gonna

(02:26:09):
go back down to coach Andrew Day and the victorious
coach Dylan Wares as he gets ready to hear and
we will get.

Speaker 3 (02:26:26):
Coach Wears all right here with Coach Wears.

Speaker 4 (02:26:29):
Coach, you've sort of made the identity of this football
team in this program, a team that's going to establish
the run. Tonight unofficially had over three hundred and thirty yards.
Talk about just the mentality that your guys have up
front to be able to establish that kind of culture.

Speaker 52 (02:26:46):
I would say it starts in the off season of
the weight room and just kind of of how we
align our off season stuff and the things we do
and dinver stuff in the weight room and just kind
of toughness, physicality, mindset and everything like that, you know,
to being able to do that.

Speaker 3 (02:27:00):
The next thing would go to just swee.

Speaker 52 (02:27:01):
We we don't do that just for fun. We have
some really nice running backs that are that are do
a really good job with the ball in their hands,
and some nice nice linemen that do a good job
run blocking. So we're just kind of I mean, I
would be lying if I said that that isn't you
know somewhat. I would say my identity and how I
kind of want to run the team. But at the
same time, we have some players that really plays into
their strengths and what they do.

Speaker 4 (02:27:21):
Well, Bryce Johnson, Jayden Higgins did what they do every night,
which is run the ball really well. I thought Marshall
and Stofer came in later on and gave you some
really good runs.

Speaker 52 (02:27:32):
Yeah, and I mean it kind of goes with what
you said about like the identity and mindset. You know,
we tell these guys and no matter what, who, what,
when where, if you're on the field, you're giving everything
you have and you're playing as hard as you can.
Jake and Levi uh physically gifted kids as well, run
the ball well, good in the weight room and stuff
like that. Uh, they've done a tremendous job on JV.
The JV has had a lot of success this year.

(02:27:54):
So once again, yeah, when they when they get out there,
if if they're getting some holes up front, we expect
them to do stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (02:28:00):
Coach, It's it's that time of the year.

Speaker 4 (02:28:02):
Week ten coming up next next week, you got a
job to do, a job to finish and hopefully get
into the playoffs. Talk about the mentality you guys will
have coming in the next week.

Speaker 3 (02:28:14):
Same one as typical. You know, we're just we're just
focused on the week at hand.

Speaker 52 (02:28:19):
Big one here for the seniors, you know, might get
a home playoff game, might not.

Speaker 1 (02:28:23):
We don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:28:23):
There's a possible chance we couldn't even make it.

Speaker 52 (02:28:26):
But we're just really focusing on sending the seniors out
on a good note on Senior Night, and the possibly
last game they have at here is ain't trace for
their careers.

Speaker 4 (02:28:35):
Well, coach, good luck next week, good luck you know,
possible playoff run and hopefully we'll see you guys.

Speaker 3 (02:28:42):
Make it a long way, so congratulation. I appreciate it.
Thank you, thank you, all right, thank you Andrew, and
thank you coach. Where's we'll take a quick break here.

Speaker 2 (02:33:09):
Back at Zane Trace High School where it was all
Zane and Trace tonight sixty nine nothing over Paint Balley
and I'm sure that's what we're going to see with
the stats here and here.

Speaker 3 (02:33:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:33:17):
So for Pink Valley, Max Montgomery was their leading rusher
with sixteen yards. Jace Ryan Hart was next with five
as well as Brennan Sen with five off passing the ball,
we weren't able to get much going three for ten.
Bryson Woods completed two of those passes, so we've talked about,

(02:33:40):
talked about him for Zane Trace three hundred and thirty
yards rushing man. Just from everybody, from everywhere, Bryce Johnson,
Jayden Higgins, Stove for.

Speaker 3 (02:33:57):
Payne Marshall, just guys. Everybody chipped in.

Speaker 4 (02:34:01):
I think maybe the most important play of the night though,
was the one pass they threw, which was a play action,
bring the defense up, throw over the top to Mason
Hartley for a fifty two yard It shows.

Speaker 3 (02:34:13):
They have that ability.

Speaker 4 (02:34:15):
It also gives teams something to think about as they
watch film, and I think that is something that Coach
Wears wanted to show tonight and I think it's something
that they executed perfectly and again and talking to Coach
Wears before the game, this is a stacked division a region,
I should say, and he talked about some of the
better teams. I guarantee you all those teams don't want

(02:34:37):
to face Aye Trace in the first round for what
they can do offensively and defensively, So that'll be a team.
People are worried about once that comes out, but Zaint
Trace takes care of their business here tonight, takes care
of it. Next week against aDNA here on Senior Night.
They'll definitely be in the playoffs somewhere, yeah, I would
think so they're going to have a chance to make

(02:35:00):
a little bit of a run here. So we'll be
falling along.

Speaker 2 (02:35:04):
Looking at some of the other scores around the area.
Westfall leads Pikedon in the fourth quarter thirty thirty to seventeen.
Huntington leads Adena in the fourth quarter forty to fourteen,
Uniededo is up on Southeastern fifty seven and nothing in
the fourth quarter. Jackson leads Miami Trace thirty four to
twenty seven in the third quarter, and the Tillicalthy Cavaliers

(02:35:25):
are up on Greenfield McLean twenty nine to fourteen. That's
in the fourth quarter. And Circleville Tigers they lead the
Liberty Union Lions fifty six to fourteen. So a lot
of teams that needed to win tonight to keep their
playoff hopes of lies did And as we said, for
next week, we'll see where we are. I'm not sure
what game will be at, but we will definitely be

(02:35:46):
in a game that will be meaningful for somebody. Yep,
and we may be at Uniedo where they could be
going for their third straight Volde Ball.

Speaker 3 (02:35:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:35:55):
Again, it's that time of year where everything's on the line.
You've been You've prepared for months for this for October
twenty fourth and the opportunity to maybe win a gold
Ball or to get into the playoffs, whatever the case
may be. It all comes down to this. So it's
an exciting time to be a part of this.

Speaker 2 (02:36:16):
And hopefully we get another week of good high school
football weather next week.

Speaker 3 (02:36:19):
That'd be a perfect ten for ten this year.

Speaker 2 (02:36:22):
