Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the accurate heating and cooling and plumbing game
of the Week on ninety four Country WKKJA. This week
we come to you from Zane Trace High School, where
it's Zane Trace Pioneers versus the Waverley Tigers. Welcome everyone
to another wonderful weather night here in the state of Ohio.
It's late August, but it feels more like late September.

(00:24):
And what a beautiful setting here in what we call
Kenney Kinnick in this part of the States. And I
am lou Postage along with Andrew Day. Andrew, you couldn't
ask for a better night than this.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
No football weather came early this season. Loo, It is beautiful.
It's about seventy four degrees right now, but by a
couple hours into it's supposed to be down to sixty two.
There's a kind of a Christmas to the air. And
like you said, a great setting, great high school football
setting with Agony Hill over here to our left, which
I was stupid enough to run up and down a

(00:58):
couple times in high school when I ran across country.
But it's a we have a great game tonight. We're
we're excited about what we're gonna see.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
We also look at a setting here at Zane Trace
High School with the you know, artificial surface, the turf,
and it's multi colored. You've got two shades of green
out there on the field. You got a dark green
and a light green. You got a lot of red,
white and blue on the field as well. So what
a great setting here tonight. And we've got two teams.

(01:29):
You got one team with a lot of experience coming
off a gay a week one win over Logan Elm
that's the Zane Trace Pioneers.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And then on the other side, you.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Have a team coming off a loss, a team that's
very inexperienced, a lot of guys making their first start
last week in the Waverley Tigers. So you have two
teams on opposite spectrums trying to achieve something different here tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, you do, for sure. I do think there is
a for Zaint Trace, there is a little bit of
a mental block to overcome just because they you know,
they play Waverley several years in a row now and
and Waverley has gotten the best of them. So for
all these guys, tonight would be the first time where
they would be able to beat Waverley should that happen, so, uh,

(02:10):
you know, I think they do. This is a Zane
Trace team with more experience. They know who they are,
they know what they want to do, they know what
they want to accomplish, and that certainly should give them
an edge tonight. But as you said, Waverley is a
talented team. They're athletic, they're they're quick, they're strong. But
they are young and they've got to they have to

(02:31):
figure out still who they are, what their identity is,
and what they want to do.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
And they're a young team who was dealing with a
tragedy here at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, we
lost a young man, DRez Bowling Hitchens to a car
accident and this team had to go through a lot
at the beginning of the season. And I spoke to
coach about that in my interview and you'll hear what
he had to say. But very difficult. I know, even

(02:56):
at our age is tough to deal with that stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
But being a high school kid having.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
One of your teammates, that's that's very difficult for them.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Man, It's so difficult. It's not you know, like you said,
none of us are ever quit to lose someone we love,
but especially at that age, to to lose a teammate,
to lose a friend, and in such a tragic way,
it's so hard to overcome. And and hopefully these uh,
these you know, these student athletes are are have been

(03:24):
able to grieve well and continue to grieve well. And Yeah,
our hearts certainly go out to the to the family.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yeah, our condolences to the uh not only the Waverley
football family, but also the family of DRez Bowling Hitchens.
We're going to continue on with the Adina Hell System
pregame show with a couple of the coaches interviews from
earlier this week. You're listening to the Accurate Heating, Cooling
and Plumbing Game of the Week on ninety four Country

Welcome back to the Adena Health Systems pregame show. I
am now talking with Waverley head coach Chris Crabtree, coach,
we appreciate your time here, uh this evening. Now, I
know in the preseason your team has gone through some adversity.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
How has your.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Team and coach has been dealing with us and how
has things gone?

Speaker 15 (07:13):
Well, you know, it's anything when you have an event
like that, it's obviously very tough. But you know, I
think as a staff and and you know, it's a
close knit family, and we just really tried to make
sure we work together as a family.

Speaker 16 (07:28):
Obviously you're gonna agrieve together. And you know, we brought
them in and that.

Speaker 15 (07:33):
That week and and just kind of kind of wanted
to see whereby was at.

Speaker 16 (07:38):
And then we got to the point where we could
practice and and you know.

Speaker 15 (07:41):
I think they've handled things the best that they they
they could and you know they.

Speaker 16 (07:46):
And they are still doing that obviously.

Speaker 15 (07:48):
You know, there was some some teammates that were really
close to Drazz and uh, you know, obviously I'm sure
they're still having you know, some issues and things of
that nature. But uh, you know, again we kind of
talked about how you know, now are you know, you
have a passion to play football and those types of things,
and that's kind of way you do it, but kind
of what our why is now, kind of what our

(08:09):
purpose is, you know, to kind of go out and
do things and kind of honor you know, play play
for dress and to kind of honor him and and
and you know, kind of go out and give me
the best that we can be throughout.

Speaker 16 (08:21):
The rest of the year.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Coach, and looking at your roster, Uh, you're in your starters.
Your team seems to be very young, and many of
those young players made their first start last week. How
has those kids stepped up? And maybe who has been
some of your other players that have stepped up into
some leadership type roles.

Speaker 15 (08:39):
Yeah, sure, you know, I've I've talked to a few
people and this. You know, people asked similar questions. And
you know, again it's like defensively, you know, we have
really about three guys that's maybe played last year in
the positions that they're playing now. And and so definitely
we've had on that side of the ball, for sure,
some guys playing for the very first time or playing

(09:00):
a position that never played before.

Speaker 16 (09:02):
And and uh, you know.

Speaker 15 (09:04):
Definitely difficult, especially when you've got to be you know,
you try to be as good as you can be
on Week one and knowing that coming in, we knew,
you know, there was potential that we weren't going to
be perfect there. But I mean, I think obviously flipping
to the other side here, Gunner's Myers playing quarterbacks for
the very first time. You know, we've got some youth
on that fiv of the ball and experience. But I

(09:26):
really think Gunner for not taking any varsities reps really
at a quarterback position, I think he's.

Speaker 16 (09:31):
Done really well.

Speaker 15 (09:32):
You know, saw your Myers, who's generally played tight end
and has probably the most.

Speaker 16 (09:35):
Experience on the team. Uh, he's playing a new position
this year.

Speaker 15 (09:38):
You know, we kind of were shorthanded a little bit
offensive live wise, so he's playing offensive tackle for us.
And I probably can't say enough about him for him
to kind of do that for his team because knowing
that that's kind of the best thing to help us
go forward. And uh so you know, he's he's done
a really good job there at an offensive tackle.

Speaker 16 (09:56):
And and uh, you know, pretty proud of him.

Speaker 15 (09:58):
For doing that. And then you know Bryar Barnes as
a young kid that's had a pretty good uh preseason
fourst caught the ball really well again playing again both
sides of the ball.

Speaker 16 (10:10):
First time as a varsity football player.

Speaker 15 (10:13):
Again has Nelson played corner for US last year, but
again really get his first opportunity as a receiver. And
you know, he's had a pretty good preseason and had
a really good first week as far as if you
look at statistics and things of that nature, So you know,
those guys have done really well. And again Garrett Rosenberger
is one of our guys that played offensive line and
defense forced last year as a freshman, and and obviously

(10:36):
he's kind of an anchor on that. So we definitely
have a lot of guys that's you know, playing some
different spots for the first time, we're playing first year
at all. But again, I think they're handling pretty well.
Obviously week one, you know, I'm sure a lot of
nerves for those guys and and uh, you know, played
against a pretty good, good football program in Miami Trace.
But you know, we got made some mistakes and had

(10:58):
some things that that miscuse of that nature.

Speaker 16 (10:59):
But I think going forward, you know, you never want
to you know, you never want.

Speaker 15 (11:03):
To lose, But I do think that's a loss that
we can take and look at and we can fix
some things and make some corrections and just get better
going forward.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
All right, Coach, Last year you defeated Zain tested your
place twenty eight to seven. This year you take your
team on the road for the first time. Talk about
taking your team on the road for the first time
and what you expect to see from the Pioneers.

Speaker 15 (11:24):
Yeah, I mean, we were in a situation where we
really had two home scrimmages this year, so we haven't
been on the road yet. So obviously taking a young
group that's not had a lot of experience, you know,
kim be maybe difficult, but luckily we don't have that
big for travel and obviously there's some familiarity there, so
I don't think that'll be too big of a deal.
But as far as Zane Trace is concerned, I mean,

(11:45):
you know, looking at what we've seen on tape with
them and again playing against them last year, they have
a large group of people back.

Speaker 16 (11:51):
You know, they're going to be a year older and bigger.

Speaker 15 (11:53):
And stronger, and obviously they definitely have a won two
punch at the running game with the John the Kid
and Higgins and and uh again, so we expect that,
you know, after last week, with kind of we gave
up a large chunk of yards UH on the on
the ground. You know, obviously we're expect that that's gonna
be something that we're gonna be challenged with again as

(12:14):
far as trying to stop Johnson and Higgins, and also
obviously their quarterback has the ability to make some plays
as well. So you know, our biggest thing is for us,
you know, we just have to prove that we can
go stop the run. We got to do a better
job tackling getting a lot of people to the football,
and then you know, again offensively, we just can't turn
the ball over.

Speaker 16 (12:35):
You know, we had too many mistakes on that side
of the ball.

Speaker 15 (12:38):
So you know, it's you know, it's gonna be a
good matchup. I think that this this has been a
good UH game over the years in general. So like
I said, we just got to go play really good
football and and limit the mistakes and really just cut
down on the big explosive plays because at times last

(12:58):
week we did some really good stuff. Fansilly, but you
can't give up eighty yard runs different things like that,
which obviously the two running backss any trace had that
capability because they kind of had some similent things that
happen in the love an LM game, So you know,
those are some of the things we've worked on this week.
Is just making sure we're getting people to the ball
and you know, we got to cut down all the
big explosives.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Well, coach, we appreciate your time and best luck in
the game.

Speaker 16 (13:23):
Okay, thank you, I appreciate it.

What is it that you thought your brother did for
a living in those years, Well, I knew that he was.

Speaker 21 (15:05):
For the most part, I had the feeling that he
was in the business of gaming.

Speaker 13 (15:10):
And that is William Michael Bulger, or Billy as he's
usually called. His eighteen year reign as president of the
Massachusetts Senate is still, to this day, the longest tenure
in history. Once his historic run was finished, he became

(15:31):
the president of the University of Massachusetts. He has also
received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Boston College Law School,
and he has more than twenty honorary degrees from a
wide variety of esteemed institutions. And despite all of these
accomplishments and accolades, what William Michael Bulger will most likely

(15:53):
be remembered for is something that was largely out of
his control. It is the one thing in life that
is out of everyone's control. Family, they were lucky they
didn't try it don't happen. That is James Bulger. You
may know him better as Whitey. Billy's story would never

(16:14):
be complete without Whitey and vice versa. But there are
more people involved than just the two brothers from the
old Harbor Village housing project in South Boston. To examine
the lives of the Bulger brothers, one must examine the
brutal deaths of nineteen relatively unknown souls. This is a

(16:35):
story about evil incarnate. This is Dirty Rats.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
WKKJ Systems Pregame Show. I am now talking to Zane
Trace head coach, Dylan Ware's coach Wars. I appreciate your
time here this evening Week one. You had to win
on the road forty eight nothing to logan hell. Talk
about your team's performance and what did you see from

(17:20):
your team last Friday.

Speaker 22 (17:23):
A lot of good things. Most importantly is the guys
played well. They worked hard, they prepared hard, but kind
of the game plan we came in with, just playing
a nice, clean game and doing it all three phases
of the ball, special teams, defense, and offense. The guys
really carried out the plan that was asked of them
to carry out.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Coach, as you look down your roster, you have some players.
For some of them this is their third year on
the roster and plays. It seems that your returners, especially
quarterback Gunner McCullough, talk about how they help your team
and how those players provide the leadership needed for your team.

Speaker 16 (18:04):
Yeah, we have.

Speaker 22 (18:05):
We have a lot of games under our belt amongst
the senior and junior class. A handful of those guys
even as freshman, got you know, significant amount of time
of varsity and handful of these juniors were were asked
to be put in starting roles since or sophomore year,
so they're they're not short on a lot of these
guys aren't short on experience and understanding what it's like

(18:26):
to be out on the varsity field on Friday. I'm
gonna speak on it. You brought up his name specifically,
Gunner mccallough. Gunner did a great job for us last week,
not just on the offensive side of the ball, but
also on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 16 (18:38):
Made a lot of huge plays.

Speaker 22 (18:39):
And yet Gunner, it's he's operationally things are going very
smooth right now because he's been there, done it. He's calm, cool, collected,
doesn't really get rattled by pressure or anything like that.
And with me going in my third year being around Gunner,
you know, we kind of understand the same burbage and
he knows what I'm looking for, and I know what
he's seeing and kind of his strengths and different things
like that.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Uh So he's doing a great job.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
One of the things over the last few years is
Zane Trace offense and defensive lines has provided a lot
of good things for your team. Talk about how that
is shaping up here this year.

Speaker 22 (19:13):
I mean, if you're looking off Week one, the guys
did exactly what I wanted to do. I think we
had roughly three hundred yards on the ground, not even
just the O line absolutely doing a great job. But
we have some tight ends and some running backs to
be a heavy portion of that blocking as well. So
it's a it's a full team effort on that. But

(19:33):
they've they've been they've been really good. Lucas Euler, Evan
Minor Blake Brower are are all multi year starters. Lane Reeves,
who's new with us this year, but he's he's got
some time as well. Uh Connor Smith and Blake Payne,
who are kind of due to the offensive line but
have stepped in and done a great job as well.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Last year in your non league games you ended up
going oh in three. This year you're trying to turn
those ta You have Week one win against Logan Elm,
who you lost to last year. This coming week you
lost to Waverley twenty eight to seven at Waverley last week.
Talk about your opponents this week for Waverley Tigers and
what have you seen out of them and what are
you expecting from them?

Speaker 22 (20:15):
Yeah, I mean just we're we're very aware who we've
played the last couple of years and we don't shy
away from trying to play, you know, some respectable competition.
So I mean it makes us better as a team.
But yeah, Logan, Logan Elm and Waverley both in field
of some really good teams the last couple of years.
Waverley does some really nice things on multiple areas of
the football field, specifically this year. One of the I

(20:37):
would say the biggest challenge looking at them is is
their ability to be fifty to fifty on offense and
run the ball effectively and pass the ball effectively, to
the point that you really can't dial in on one.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Or the other.

Speaker 22 (20:48):
Because they're good enough at both that you have to
respect both at all points in the game.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Well, coach, we appreciate your time and best luck in
the game.

Speaker 16 (20:55):

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four
Country WKKJ. Today's game is presented by accurate heating, cooling,

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Welcome back to Zane Trace High School as we're getting
ready for kickoff. Here in tonight's Game of the Week
by Acrid Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, And we have some
keys to the game presented by Home Loans by Jen.
The Key to better Living starts with a visit to

you approved faster. Look for Home Loans by Jen on

(24:57):
Facebook and secure the Key to your new Home with
Jennifer Conley Andrew, what are some keys tonight for Zane Trace?

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Well, I think there's really one key in this whole game,
and that's who determines the tempo of the game. Zane
Trace wants to run the ball, they want to control
the clock, They want to really kind of beat you
up physically upfront. And so if they're able to do that,
this is going to be a tough game for Waverley
to win. So Waverley has to try to get Zane

(25:25):
Trace into passing downs, get some get some stops on
first and second down, and really try to make them
pass the ball. And then on the flip side. Waverley
threw the ball forty seven times last week. They want
to get the ball out to their playmakers, and if
you're Zane Trace, you want to disrupt timing early. Gunner
Myers is making his second career start. The offensive line's

(25:46):
pretty young. You don't want to let those guys get
comfortable because they are talented and if you let them
get comfortable, they're going to have a lot of success
in the air. So who determines the tempo at the game?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
All right, We're getting ready for kickoff here and is
Zant Tray's kicking off the waiver? Waverley will be going
right to left on your radio dial in we have
a kick down to about the twenty yard line picked
up by number three I believe for Waverley, and that
is Briar Bartsch. So Waverley is going to get the

(26:16):
ball here to start this game on their own twenty
seven yard line. Waverley is going to bring out their
offense led by Junior making his second start, Gunner Myers
at quarterback, running backs Justin Kinnison and Hez Nelson. Head's
going to be more like an HVAC. The offensive line
Garrett Rosenberger, Brock Berdett, Hudson, Harris Kale Nisley and Sawyer Myers.

(26:41):
You have some wide receivers Caleb re Reisner, Bryer BArch
and Trey Perry. So we have Gunner Myers takes a
first snap. Oh, it's going to be inaccepted by Blake Brower.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
The defensive end read debt perfectly going to be an.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Inside plant pass. He read it, went back outside to
catch it. Now we do have a flag on the play,
but it looks like Waverley is going off the field
and it's going to stand as an interception by Blake Brower.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Yeah, we just talked about it. We said you got
to disrupt them, make them uncomfortable. And Zane Trace starts
off the game as about as well as you could
have hoped with a quick interception.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Yeah. Again, that's Blake Brower coming from his defensive end.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Also on the defensive line is Lane Reeves, Evan Minor
and Lucas Euler. Linebackers for Zane Trace, Hudson, Williams, Bryce Johnson,
Grady Stewart, Peyton Arthur's defensive backs Mason Hartley, Jayden Higgins,
and Gunner McCullough. So one possession, one turnover, and it
looks like it's going.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
To be a penalty on Waverley.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
It's going to take the ball now all the way
down inside the fifteen yard line for the Zane Trace Pioneers.
Gunner McCullough under center for this first snap. He's going
to get the snap hand to Bryce Bryce Johnson. Bryce
Johnson goes right up the middle. He's gonna get a
gain of about five yards on that play. So that

(28:08):
was just a straight forward dive play by Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Well, great chance here for Zane Trace to start this
game off, and and'll kind of send a little statement
to Waverley and they're like, we said, they're just gonna
line up and they're gonna try to run it down
your throat and they'll kind of day to stop them.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Yeah, you look at a Waverley defense and gave five
hundred and thirty four yards rushing last week to Miami
Trace and Zane Trace. That's one of the strengths of
their team is running the ball. McCullough under center, he's
going to hand off to Jaydon Higgins this time, who
is gonna get caught in the backfield. Great play there
by Waverley and a lot of talking there after the play.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
They gotta be careful.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
That that was number twenty one Ashton Gilbert coming in
for Waverley and making a great play there.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yeah, they were in the backfield right away. Higgins was
handed the ball and didn't really have a chance to
do anything with it.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
So that's going to be a loss of about seven
on the play.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Going to bring up third and twelve from the we'll
call it the fifteen yard line, So Zane Trey's coming
back up the line of scriming. You've got gunner mccalli
is still going under center here. He's got Higgins and
Johnson behind him in the backfield. Motioned by Williams, handoff
to Johnson. Johnson goes around the right side.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
He's going to get all the way to the end
zone for a touchdown. He had about five tackles he
brought to get there, but again a nice lead block
by the outside guys Hudson, Williams and Grady screwed out
there to get him to the end zone.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
And again that was a fifteen yard touchdown run by
Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yeah, Lou, there were a lot of a lot of
attempted arm tackles on that on that play, and Bryce
Johnson is a strong kid. If you don't if you
don't hit him low, you don't have a chance. And
he shook off quite a few defenders and made his
way into the end zone.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Kicker number three teen Preston Lane into the game. His
extra point attempt.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Is up and good.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
So with ten twenty four to go here in the
first quarter, it is Zane Trace seven Waverley Nothing. You're
listening to the accurate heating, cooling and plumbing game of

Speaker 31 (30:59):

Speaker 5 (31:05):

If you want a real deal, try tie pods. Stop
paying for water down detergents, pay for clean. If it's

based on the leading bargain liquid detergent.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
All right, back here at Zain't Tray's High School.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Well, we have Preston Lane going to kickoff now for
zant Tray's leading seven to nothing early in this game.
After a first play interception by Blake Brower. Kickoff is
going down to the twenty yard line. There we're going
to get a slipped by number two and that is

(31:45):
Hez Nelson.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
So the Tigers now will take the ball over at
first and ten.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
On their own thirty let's call it the thirty three
yard line.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Waverley respond here,
you know, as a as a coach. Right now, You've
got to get your guys into a situation where they
can feel comfortable because if if if one mistake leads
to another. Here at this point in the game, it's
just gonna snowball quickly.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, you got trips to or naturally, you got four
receivers out there to the right hand side and Gunner Myers.
Now you got the motion by hes Nelson. He throws
it out to Heaz Nelson for a quick, quick wow,
he's down the sideline and he's down to the thirty
yard line of Zane Trace quickly.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
So that was a great.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Pass out to a motion guy hess Nelson, and he
goes down the right hand side all the way to
the third or twenty seven yard line.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
So that's going to be a gain ab roughly.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
So we have a flag or something on a field
back there, I don't know, so we had maybe a towel,
but it's going to be first intent for Waverley. Here
you've got gunner Meyers waiting to snap. You've got two
receivers to left. He's going to and off to number seventeen.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
It looks like.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
And I didn't have him on my sheet here, but
number seventeen Holsinger is Jack Holsinger.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah. On that last play, Lou, they had those four
wide receivers out to the right and they used them
kind of as a as just a group of blockers.
They got Nelson the ball and he went.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Same type of formation here, two receivers to the left.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Myers hands off to Holstinger this time and nothing going there.
As again, Blake Brower's in there also with number twenty five.
That's Peyton Arthur. So Holsinger's hat came off, it came off.
He has to go out of the game now.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
And that was basically a.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
What loss of maybe two on the place. And now
it's going to be third and five. You're gonna have
three receivers out here to the left hand side, one
to the right. You got a running back behind Gunner Myers,
so spread out offense here. Myers awaits a snow app
quick throw out to hez Nelson. Hez Nelson gets off

(34:06):
of one block, he gets down to the twenty yard line.
It looks like he's going to buy about a yard shorts.
So that's gonna be a fourth and one. So we'll
see what coach Crabtree decides to do here. Big fourth
down play here, it's gonna be a long one. We'll
call it almost two so quickly right up the line,

(34:26):
and got two receivers to the left, two to the right,
and you have a running back right behind Gunner. Myers
got motion to the left hand off the number five,
and that is Justin Kennison, and.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
That's gonna be really close.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
It's gonna be real close as the umpires come in
and it looks like they're gonna go ahead and give
it to him.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
So that's gonna be a game of at least three
yards on that play to give him a first down,
second first down of the night for Waverley. And they
got themselves to sustained drive right now.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
But you can see early that they're really making concerned
effort to get the ball to Nelson, trying to get
creative in ways to get him the ball, and he
has the capability of making things happen.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
Nelson at thirteen catches last week, Myers throws deep in
the end zone. Now, what a great slat pass that was.
And it looks like that was number three Briar BArch, So.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
That was a wonderful slam pass.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
And that's going to be a was that a seventeen
yard pass play from Gunner Myers to Briar BArch for
the touchdown for Waverley.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Really good play calling there by Waverley. They everything had
been kind of short and to the perimeter, and on
that play they just kind of flooded the middle of
the field and Zaint Trace didn't have enough guys to
match up with him.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
And that extra point is good and that was by
Bryson Spangenberg. So again Myers to BArch on the touch
down pass for Waverley. The point after attempt was good.
Seven to seven is our score. We'll keep it right here.
What a answer there by the Waverley Tigers after that

(36:11):
first play interception by Zaint Trace, they were able to
capitalize that and score. And now we have Waverley went
right down the field. They don't they are not slowing
down for us to get all this stuff there. But
again a great drive there by Waverley to answer that.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
Yeah, they're they're going completely no huddle. But you could
just kind of feel a difference in the way they
handled themselves, the way they carried themselves. Once they got
that big pass play to Nelson, it was like everybody
could take a deep breath, and man, that kid is
electric and he can make some things happen.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
So again, as we talked about, you know Has Nelson
thirteen catches last week for Waverley offense. You had Justin Kennison,
he had ninety yards of offense last week. Gunner Myers
he slung that ball forty seven times last weekend. They're
lost to Miami Trayce. So you can see they're a
team that can score quickly and they just showed that.

(37:09):
So for the first time, we're going to get a
kickoff here from Waverley to Zane tray Zane Trayce dressed
in their royal blue uniforms with red helmets on them.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
It's got Pioneers or Zane Trace on.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
The side of it, and they've got some white striping
white numerals, which.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
We love to see that.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
And we have the Waverley Tigers in their black pants,
the orange stripe down the side, white jerseys. They've got
some orange numerals outlined in black. They have a great helmet.
They've got a nice dull black helmet with fluorescent tiger
paul and a stripe that goes down. So very colorful
here tonight at Zane Trace High School getting ready for

(37:50):
the kickoff, and that kickoff is going deep and that's
going to be caught by number twenty for Zane Trace,
Mason Hartley. He brings it from the goal line all
the way up, he's still going goes down about the
thirty two yard line. So a nice return there by
Mason Hartley.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
A really good return. That was a deep kick. I
think Nelson is actually the kicker for Waverley on kickoffs,
and he put that back deep and Hartley brought it out,
made some nice moves and allows Zane Trace to start
with some pretty decent feel position here.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
So again the Zane Tray's offense, offensive line Blake Brower,
Blake Payne, Connor Smith, Lane Reeves, and Heavan. Minor quarterback
is Gunner mccullar, running backs Bryce Johnson and Jayden Higgins.
And our receivers Hudson, Hudson, Williams, Lucas Euler, Grady Stewart,
and Mason Hardley. McCullough under center, hands off to the

(38:47):
left side to Jayden Higgins and he's going to gain
about three yards.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
I got to bring up second down and seven.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
That's no secret. Louis I've talked about what Zane Trace
is gonna try to do, and their their line is
really physical. They're gonna they're gonna come up and and
do everything they can to move you back, and a
lot of times they're gonna win that one on one battle.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
And again, the thing of it is is Gunner McCullough
can really throw the ball too. He can run the
ball as well. So a lot of weapons out there.
Mccalluch under center. He turns hands off to Bryce Johnson.
He's gonna go to the right hand side, spins away
from one tackle, loses another tackle. Now he's loose on
the right hand side, and one guy jumps basically on
his back to bring him down. That's Ashton Gilbert. But

(39:37):
that is going to be a gain of about thirty
four yards. Little thirty four yards, And again that was
a lot of suffering second effort there by Bryce Johnson
as he was able to get through that line.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Nice spin move to get himself into open field.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Again, it's easier said than done. But again, a lot
of guys trying to hit him high and it's not
gonna work that. He is a strong kid and he's
going to keep his legs moving.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Nothing fancy about the formation here. Quarterback under center to
running backs, one wide receiver out to the right hand side.
Turn fake hand off this time. Gunner's going to keep
it around the left hand side. Finds a lot of
room out there, and he's going to get another first down,
and that's going to be a gain of at least
fifteen yards, maybe sixteen yards there by Gunner McCullough. And

(40:26):
again he just sucked the defense in there to fake
that hand off up the middle and took it around
the right left hand side and found himself a lot
of room.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Well, Zane Trace has been so like in between the
tackles so far that the Waverley defense was adjusting to
that and was trying to load up in there. They
faked the handoff. Mccull rolls out. There's nobody out there.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Waverley defense is roughly a three to four type defense.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
We'll get some of those names here.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
In just a second. Gunner McCully comes out. He's under
center again to running backs, hands off this time to
no he keeps it again. He even faked me out there.
Gunnar mccullor to the right hand side.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
This time, he's gonna get pushed out of bounce the
two yard.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Line and that is going to be a gain of
thirteen yards. Is gonna be first and ten on to
two and again a great fake there by Gunnar mccullar
the Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 3 (41:16):
That's what it does.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
It sucks you up in there thinking that you're gonna
see who's going to get the ball, and next thing
you know, it's Gunner mccullar around the corner.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
That was the exact same play as the play before,
but just run to the other side. And they're finding
a lot of success with that right now.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Yeah, they're not going too many plays deep in that
playbook right now, they're not. So again two form or
this time, we only have one running back in the backfield,
Jayden Nelson up off to the line of scrimmage a
little bit. Gunnar McCullough takes a snap. He's gonna keep
it around the left hand side. This time he's gonna
get all the way into the end zone.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Four.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Z ain't Crais Pioneer touchdown.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
That's gonna be a three yard touchdown run by Gunnar
McCullough and.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
That makes the score.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
Z Ain't, you're a thirteen and Waverley seven with six
P forty two to go point after attempt, fourthcoming and
again this is Preston Lane in for.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
The point after attempt.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Well, when you have those three threats in the backfield
between Jade Higgins, Bryce Johnson and Dutter mcculloughy, it just
presents so many problems to the detas.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
And Lane makes the Preston Lane makes the extra point.
It is now fourteen to seven Zane Trace. You're listening

Speaker 1 (43:44):
Back at Zane Trace High School of waiting to kick
off for Zane Trace. And it is going to be
caught at the twenty yard line for Waverley, and that
is number three for Waverley Briar Bartsch and he's going
to bring it up to the thirty eight yard line
and that is where they will start their third possession
here of the first quarter. So again, twenty one points

(44:08):
and a little over half or a little under a
half a quarter Andrew a lot.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
Of points, Yeah, a lot of points. If this thing
keeps up at this pace, We're gonna be here for
a long time tonight, Lou, Yes.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
We are. Andrew and I.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
Our number one fan is listening out there or shout
out to Ariet Hutchinson for listening in tonight. She is
a huge fan of Andrew and I sometimes probably aren't
more Andrew than me, But again, we love you Riot.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
I like to think Harriot's a person, a good judge
of character.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
Got a mccallaugh.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
A quick out pass to number six, that's Tray Perry.
So again, Gunner mccallaugh, he's our gunner. I'm sorry, Gunner
McCall we have two gunners at quarterback here. Gunnar Myers
did a great job there, getting the ball out quickly
to his receiver Tray Perry, and a quick five yards
on that. So again a quick snap here by Waverley. Oh,

(45:09):
he bottles the snap ball on the field and we're
going to get a quick recovery and that is going
to be by number five.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
That's Justin Kinnison, the running back by Waverley. He was
able to fall on that ball.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
Unfortunately, that's gonna be a loss of almost ten yards
on the play for Waverley. So that's their second turnover.
Now I shouldn't say turnover this second time. They've fumbled
the ball. Both times they've been able to get on it.
They do have the one turnover that's the interception. So
they are going to get a quick procedure penalty on

(45:45):
Zane Trace here. Hard count and that draws off Bryce
Johnson for a five yard penalty for Zane Trace, it's
going to move it up to make it a third
and nine on the thirty nine yard line of Waverley.

Speaker 3 (45:58):
You got trips to the.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Right hand side, had one receiver to the left, Kennison
behind gunner er gunner Myers, gunner back to pass goes deep.
Oh he had a wide open guy that was number two,
hes Nelson. And if he was always gonna call it incomplete,
he said, he did not come down with it.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Oh Man.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
So as he fell because as soon as he caught
the ball, he stumbled, and he's gonna say, as he
fell down, the ball came loose. So that is not
a catch. I'll tell you what. If you were there
to keep his feet, he's gonna have some white open.
He walked down the sideline.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
He was and I think, if you're Zane Trace, you
gotta be talking right now. How wants yourselves about? How
do we let that guy get that wide open?

Speaker 1 (46:42):
Well, you got a lot of guys over there to cover,
especially when you bring the guy in motion. To have
four receivers on one side, you got to make sure
you count for all.

Speaker 2 (46:50):
Those they're gonna go for it here on fourth and nine.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
Loup, So fourth and nine, uh, snap too, Myers. Myers
going deep down the middle of the field. Now he's
gonna be overthrown over every one, even the defenders. So
that's going to give the ball to Zaant Trace in
Waverley territory. Can they'reround market just inside the forty yard line.
So Zane Tray's Pioneers takeover on downs in Waverley territory.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
Well, if you're Waverley right now, you're really beating yourself
up over that bad snap. On first down, you got
a nice quick passing play for six yards. You're continuing
the momentum that you had on that glass drive, and
then it all kind of falls apart on a bad snap.
You have another pass play that's open and you just
can't quite get it. And then you know, fourth and nine,
you're tough to make. You're forced to make a tough decision,

(47:38):
and it just didn't work out for him.

Speaker 1 (47:41):
So again, like a turnover almost here as Zane Trace
gets the ball in Waverley territory here for their third
possession of this game. Also listening in tonight, the Hall
of Famer Pete Liptrap listening in one of our loyal
listeners here on w KKJ, Gunnar McCollough under center to

(48:01):
running backs into his backfield. He's gonna hand off the
brace Johnson right up the middle. Johnson's going to bull
his way because we're gonna get a flag thrown in
from the back judge or I should say the umpire,
and that's.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
Gonna be a holding on Zane Trace.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
I don't know how he could see a holding in
there where it seemed like it was just a scrum
going on in there with a lot of bodies five
minutes and thirty eight seconds ago here in the first quarter.
That ball is gonna get pushed back to the abroughly
just to the.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
Zane Trace side of the fifty yard line.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
Lou, I've got a question for you. Does coach lift
Trap make you address him as hall of Famer or
Pete lift Trap? Is that is that kind of a
requirement that he's saying It is.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
Not a requirement.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
It is one of pure honor that I say that
he is a multiple Hall of Famer not only in
Eastmore High School, but also miss Kingham High School and
Pickerington High School. As well as the State Coaches Association impressive.

Speaker 3 (49:00):
It is very impressive.

Speaker 1 (49:07):
Hand off here to Higgins. Higgins tries to go to
the left hand side and he's gonna get stacked up
immediately there by Waverley. Waverley defense is doing a much
better job of stacking up that line now. And talking
about the Waverley defense, Garrett Rosenberger, Carter Cartier or Carrier
and Sawyer Myers they make up the defensive line. Briar

(49:29):
BArch Hudson, Harris Landon, Raymond remy and Ashton Gilbert are
the linebackers. And in the backfield defensively for Waverley HEAs Nelson,
Caleb Reisner, Sebastian Smith, and Jamie Blackwell. So again, since
those first two opening drives for Zane Trace, Waverley has
made some adjustments. Now we're going to get a time

(49:53):
out by Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (49:57):
Yeah, this is an interesting, uh interesting time here for
Zaint Trace on the second twenty A team that wants
to run the ball, is this going to force you
to do some things that maybe you don't really want
to do.

Speaker 1 (50:09):
Yeah, it's it's one of those things where I think,
you know, he wants to continue to run the ball
and established that ground game. But I'll tell you what,
Gunner McCall is a very good athlete. You've got some
receivers out there that I think if you allow Waverley
to keep coming up on the line like they're doing now,
I think it's going to open some things up for you.

(50:30):
And especially the tight end down the middle also is
something that you might want to look for because Zaint Trace,
I know, has that in their arsenal. They've used that
quite a bit in the last two years, that tight
end going right down in the middle.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
So here what they second down in.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
Basically nineteen we could see something like that happen.

Speaker 8 (50:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:53):
So again you're listening to us here on ninety four

Coverage WKKJ. And there's that pass we talked about Andrew
Gunner McCullough throwing deep there for number twenty Mason Hartley.
It just went in and out of his hands. But
nice play designed there by Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
Yeah, well thrown ball. Briar Bartch, the defensive back for Waverley,
had it covered really well. There just wasn't much room
to try to put that in there with.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Four thirty to go here in the first quarter.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
This first quarter is sponsored by home Loans by Jen So.
Third and nineteen, Here is what Zane Trace has. If
Gunner mccull is going to go under center, here two
running backs behind him. We had a motion to the
right hand side. Here comes Bryce Johnson around that right
hand side, finding some openings, running over players and he's

(52:07):
going to get down inside the forty yard line and
that is going to bring up a fourth and nine.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
Well, on fourth and nine, Waverley went for it. This
is a better field position here for Zane Trace. We'll
see if they looks like they're going to go for it.

Speaker 1 (52:22):
This is about the very same spot that Waverley went
for it. Waverley, however, was going the other way.

Speaker 3 (52:28):
This time.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
It is in Waverley territory and coach War's looking at
his play sheet on his wrist signals in something. Gunnar
mccallough has it they break the huddle. McCullough now going
to go in a pistol formation with Jayden Higgins to
his right, two receivers to the right, one receiver to
the left. Gunnar mccullar goes back to pass. He's looking

(52:51):
for somebody in the I'm not sure if he got
that away, but again, it was number seventeen for Waverley
who got in there quickly, and that.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
Was Jack Holsinger did a really nice job of coming
in on the blitz and really disrupting mccaulla as he
tried to throw that pass.

Speaker 1 (53:10):
Yeah, he tried to look out to his left hand
side and didn't see anybody. So that's going to be
a turnover on downs here to Waverley. So both defenses
get a stop here. Late in the first quarter. Waverley
now comes back on the offense, so Gunner Myers brings
his offense back out on the field. Three receivers to
the right, one to the left, and a running back

(53:32):
next to Myers. Myers waits to snap look quick throw
to the left and that is in and out of
the hands of number six for Waverley.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
That was Trey Perry.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
Yeah, had him on the quick out there, just kind
of put it behind him as he was as he
was trying to break to the outside.

Speaker 1 (53:52):
So that brings up a second and ten for Waverley again.
We're going to have three receivers this time to the left,
one to the right, and Justin Kennison behind Gunner Myers.
He waits a snap, we'll get motion out of hes Nelson,
hands to Kennison. He goes right up the middle and

(54:14):
he's gonna get a gain of maybe one yard. We'll
give him two.

Speaker 3 (54:19):
We've got to bring up a third and Okay, they.

Speaker 1 (54:21):
Gave him three now, so it'll be a third down
and seven and again a no huddle offense here by Waverley.
You're gonna have two receivers to the right hand side,
two to the left, and Kennison behind him Myers. Hes
Nelson goes in motion to the right. Myers gets a snap,

(54:43):
looks to the right, looking deep for hes Nelson again
on that sort of out and up pass route, and
hes Nelson could not catch that one, goes get in
and out of his hands incomplete. It's gonna bring up
a fourth down this time they're gonna choose the punt.

Speaker 3 (55:00):
Yeah, I think you have.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
To you know, that was a pass where it was
on his back shoulder a little bit wasn't perfectly thrown,
but one of those situations where you really got to
try to help your quarterback out and bring and bring
that pass down.

Speaker 1 (55:14):
So you look, we're going to think we're going to
see a punt here. We'll see if we actually get
in the punt formation. I can't make out that.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
Is that a twenty twenty eight twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
Hour punter Jordan Polling back to punt his punt.

Speaker 3 (55:33):
Nice punt.

Speaker 1 (55:34):
It's going to go all the way down to the
twenty five yard line of z ain't trace where it's
going to be picked up by number seven.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
He's going to go all the way down the left
hand's eye, he's still going down inside the fifty yard line,
and that is where it stopped Grady Stewart on our
nice return there.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
That is a thirty two yard returned by Grady Stewart
back into Waverley territory.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
So basically it negated the punt.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
Yeah, that was a I was shocked he was gonna
return it. I thought Waverley had it well covered. I
thought for sure he was gonna call for the third
catch but he didn't and made some really nice moves,
some really good cuts, and uh is able to again
give Zane Trace great field position as they start this
next drive.

Speaker 1 (56:17):
Yeah, they he made that first guy miss and then
he had some room and he took advantage of it,
made another guy miss on the far sideline there, and
he was able to get it all the way into
Waverley territory. So again Zane Trace comes out on the offense.
This time Gunnar mccull is going to go under center.
He's going to have one receiver to the right hand side,

(56:39):
Jayden Higgins going to get the pitch out to the
right trying to find some running room.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
He does get up field quickly and he's gonna get
a gain of three yards.

Speaker 1 (56:49):
So that'll bring up a second and seven for Zane Trace,
who was in no hurry. We appreciate that as an announcers.
They're gonna go back in the huddle. Coach where is
gonna look at his wristband see what play he wants
to call in next, and Gunnar McCall is gonna look
at his wrist band. Two fifteen to go here in
the first quarter, Jane Trace breaks a huddle on mccull

(57:11):
gonna go under center. He's gonna have Johnson and Higgins
behind him. One receiver to the left hand side, snap
hand off to Johnson right up the middle, quickly up
the middle for Johnson, and he's gonna gain three. This
is the old Ohio State offense. Three yards in a
cloud of dust.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
But with these new turf field you don't get that.

Speaker 2 (57:33):
Nope. I don't think you'll see it here on third
and short. It'd be interesting to see if Zane Trace
tries to get mccallugh going a little bit, just with
some quick, easy passes where you can start to develop
some rhythm. He's over two right now, passing because they've
waited until third and long and they just haven't been
able to get anything going in the passing.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
In some McCullough under center. We've got a little motion
to the left hand side, quick around McCullough.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
Keeps it here, you go, coach.

Speaker 1 (58:02):
He was going to pass it, and now he's keeping it.
He's going down the left hand side.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
No one. Oh.

Speaker 1 (58:07):
They finally knocked him out around the eleven yard line.
So that is going to be a game of twenty
one yards all the way down to the fifteen yard
line is where they said they knocked him out, but
he thought about passing there. They did pulled it down,
which was a good choice because he was a He's
been able to run off of left and right very

(58:29):
well here tonight.

Speaker 2 (58:30):
Yeah, he already has fifty four yards running on four
carries here, so he's been a really effective weapon.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
So that brings up a first down fifteen yard line
of Waverley with one fifteen to go here in the
first quarter. McCullough with an eye formation behind him. Now,
Bryce Johnson comes close to the line of scrimmage, chickens
way back hand off to Higgins, great block air by Johnson.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
Higgins going to go around the right hand side, use
his speed to get into the end zone. So a
fifteen touchdown run by Jaden Higgins.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
Around the right hand side, using his feed to get there,
and that'll be a touchdown for the Zane Trace Pioneers.

Speaker 2 (59:11):
Yeah, once he kind of got away from where all
the bodies were there, there wasn't much of a chance
they were gonna they were gonna be able to bring
him down.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
So Preston Lane is in for.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
The extra points snap hold kick and that is no
good off to the left hand side, so with a
pat miss that brings the score now to twenty to seven.

While waiting these Zane Trace kickoff. Kick is now down
to the thirty yard line where it is caught by
a Waverley Tiger who's going to bring it up to
about the forty two. Definitely a rugby scarm going on
right now.

Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
He's going to bring it all the way to the
forty five.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
We'll see if we can't get the number of that.
That is number seventeen and that is Jack Holesinger.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Both teams have actually started almost every drive with good
field position. That maybe one difference here is that Zame
Trace has started off with great field position every time.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
So one of the.

Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
Three to go here in the first quarter is going
to be first and ten Waverley on their own forty
five yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Waiverley's got to develop some rhythm here. They've had some
really good moments that just they haven't been able to
sustain it yet.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Again, they had that nice sustained drive there in the
second drive of the night. Two receivers to the right,
one to the left. Meyers hands off to number five.
That is justin Kinnison and he's going to get a
gain of a quick six into Zane Tray's territory at
the forty nine yard line. As we go under a

(01:02:09):
minute to go here in the first quarter, Waverley right
to the line of scrimmage to three receivers to the
right hand side, one of the left. Myers quickly out
to hez Nelson quick screen pass out there.

Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
He's going to get a gain of about six yards.
That's going to be a first down.

Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Waverley o'clock running at thirty one seconds to go here
in the first quarter, so it's first and ten at
the Zane Trace forty three yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
It was an intentional play call there. Myers had missed
his last four pass attempts, and so I think that
was just a chance to get him some confidence there.

Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
That was a almost jumped the route there by Zane
Trace at his number eleven gunner mccaullay. He came up quick,
but that was a actual catch over thereby hes Nelson,
and that is going to be a gain of five.
That brings up a second down of five. With ten
seconds go here in the first quarter, it looks like
they're probably going to get off one more play. Gunner

(01:03:11):
Myers awaits a snap motion by Nelson and no, they
say you did not get that off before the end.

Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Of the quarter, so that is going to be the
end of the first quarter.

We were back here at Zaint Trace High School. Quick
pass out to hez Nelson, he catches it, he goes
up field and again we're in a quick passing game
for waiver lady.

Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
They're going to give him the first down, I believe.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
Yeah, nice little uh five yeard pick up there again,
just enough to get the first down. And like you said,
they're really you can you can tell they've really just
tried to simplify things to get the ball out of
his hands quickly, get it to your playmakers.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
Hand off to Kennison around the left hand side. He
breaks back to the right and he gets up the
middle of the field. Good job of getting upfield all
the way down almost nine yards on that carry by Kennison.
So again, you talked about Waverley getting a sustained drive.
They've done a good job here of getting that sustained drive.

(01:05:27):
Second and one, Myers goes back to pass looking for
someone and cannot find him. He's gonna be brought down
in the backfield by Blake Brower. Blake Brower has done
a great job here tonight. He's got an interception. Now
he's got a sack to go with that, and that
is going to take him all the way back to
the thirty two yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
That's going to bring up a third and nine. So
that's a loss of eight on that play there by
Blake Brower.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Yeah, Goddard Myers had a little bit time to throw,
but the coverage was really good downfield by his trace,
and Brower came in and made the play.

Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
Pre receivers to the right, one to the left. Myers
now motioned to the Meyers right up the middlefield. First
time we see a quarterback draw and he's going to
get close to the line to gain, and it looks
like the full referee where he's got it marked is
going to be just a story, probably a half a
yard short. So that's going to bring up fourth in

(01:06:24):
less than one and Waverley definitely going to go forward
here on the twenty four yard line, so Meyer's going
to stay in the pistol formation. We're going to get
a time out by coach Crabtree to make sure he's
got the right personnel in the game on this fourth down.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Definitely a big play in this game right now.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
You kind of feel like this is a pivotal play.
If they get this and can sustain this drive and
go get a touchdown, then this is a really competitive game.
If they don't get this and Zane Trace comes down
and scores, you feel like maybe it's starting.

Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
To get away from you a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
So while they're talking about what they want to do here,
the SVC Adena is at Colegrove, Huntington is at Eastern Pike.
Cape Valley is all the way down in Athens tonight.
Wilston is at Piketon, Unioto at Vinton County, Logan Elm
at west Fall, and we do have a score on
that game at the end.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Of the first quarter. West Fall Leeds fourteen to eight.

Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
And Southeastern they had a team canceled on them here
this week they were able to find a game. They're
at Portsmouth Notre Dame tonight, so everyone in the SVC
on the field tonight. Last week was a little different.
We had two Thursday night games, big at fourth End
one here Myers is in the pistol formation with Jennison

(01:07:39):
or Kennison right next to him. We got a motion
by hes Nelson fake to no. He hands it off
to Kennison around the left. He's going to get the
first time. But I believe we got a flag on
the player. We're going to get a illegal procedure on
our motion on Waverley.

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
That's a tough break for the Tigers.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
We moved all the chains over there.

Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
Unfortunately the linesman over there where the chains are.

Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
I feel like this was by himself. No one wants
to look at it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
He threw the flag and it's like no one else
recognized that it had happened.

Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
He is working his hard is to try to get
that information. Our referee tonight, James Wind, he is still
trying to figure out what's going on. The referee is
now coming over to him and say, listen, I had
a legal, legal procedure on Waverley. We got to redo
this play and we got to move the chains back.
And that's what they're doing right now. This is one

(01:08:46):
of those crews that do not have the headsets where
they can talk to each other. A lot of crews
have those headsets where they can just talk in the
headsets to each other. This one does not the referee.
He hasn't even moved back. He's still standing where he was.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
You're right, it really is like the other officials don't
want to I don't want to talk about.

Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
It, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
So we're getting set here. It is going to be
should be fourth and or yeah, fourth and six on
the twenty six yard line. So we have four receivers
over here, to the right hand side, gunner McCullough alone
in the backfield. One on the left hand side. McCullough

(01:09:29):
fakes throws deep down the field, two number three in.

Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
His hands and out. He had Ryer March in the
end zone behind a defender and it went through his hands.

Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Oh man, that's a really tough break for wavery really
good route, great great pump fake by Myers to kind
of freeze the defender and had hit Bartch right in
the hands and unfortunately he just wasn't able to pull
it in.

Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
Yeah, that's going to be a tough one. They had
the first down then, but they had a penalty they
had to bring it back.

Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Now they had a fourth and sixth. They had a
touchdown that went through the receiver's hands. So that's gonna
be a big play here in this game. As it stands,
twenty to seven right now for Zane Trace. Waverley gets
that one. Now you're in within one score again and
a whole different ballgame. So Waverley defense has to come
out and stiffen up here a little bit. And we

(01:10:27):
got an update on Eastern Pike in Huntington is Eastern
Pike fourteen Huntington seven.

Speaker 3 (01:10:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Watching that Huntington team last week, Lou, I think we
both came away really impressed with what they're capable of.
And to be on the road of Eastern and competing
says a lot about that group.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Jayden Higgins around the left hand side, he's dives forward
for a gain of Well, we're going to give him
three on that, so that'll bring up a second down
and seven. So again, heartbreaking fourth down play there for Waverley.
Zane Trace now took over on the thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Two yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Saint Trace really having a lot of success right now
going out to the edges both of Lacla and Higgins.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
So McCall is going under center. You have two running
backs in the back, Johnson and Higgins. I'm going to
give it to number fifteen this time, and that is
going to be a abound the right hand side, that
is Hudson Williams. Hudson Williams with a nice run, but
we do have a flag.

Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
Keep it right here.

Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
Nice run there by Hudson Williams, but I think it's
going to be negated by a holding call as the
Pioneers are walking back with multiple flags out there.

Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
This time.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
The Waverley player that was being held and I don't
mean this as a christ did a really good job
of making it obvious that he was being held. And
sometimes that's what it takes because there's so much going
out on the field that if an official just sees
something like that, then they'll see the hold and they
can make the call.

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Yep, you got to sell it, and that's what he
did step off against the pie.

Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
So that is going to take the ball all the
way back to the twenty yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
It was a really good play design loo. They kind
of brought Williams off the edge there and he had
some running lanes and I think that's something we could
probably see them go back to later in the game.

Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
And again you had two running backs that were leading
you around that corner, so they were lead blockers as well.
So good job there by the z ain't Trey's pioneers.
McCullough under center, Williams now in motion. I want to
turn an hand off to Johnson. He's going to come
around the left hand side, comes out here, jukes a
little bit, gets up field too, roughly the thirty one

(01:12:52):
yard line.

Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
That's going to bring a manageable third and five.

Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
It was able to get back what they lost. I'm
gonna play before and uh, man, he's just a he's
a hard kid to bring down. He just runs with
really low gravity and uh stays behind his pads and man,
he's as tough tackle.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Yeah, I tell you he can run over you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
He can give it a little spin move, a little
juke move yep, and he's up the field.

Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
It's eight thirty five to go here in the first half.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
The second quarter is brought to you by shine On
Chilicothee dot Org. Pitch back to Jaden Higgins. He comes
around the left hand side. He's gonna get up the
field for first down.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
That's gonna be a gain of fifteen yards on the play,
and that's gonna be a first down. Zane Trays Pioneer.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
Really nice misdirection there. They sent Johnson one way and
uh looked like they were gonna hand it off to him,
but then pitched it to Higgins going the other way,
and it created all kinds of running room for you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Think, if you're Zane Trace here, if you get this
ball and take it all the way down and eat
up some more clock here in this quarter, could be
devastating going into halftime for Waverlely.

Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Yeah, you'd feel really good with a with a twenty
seven to seven lead heading into the break.

Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
So mccullacum breaks the hudde he comes out under center.
Higgins now goes to the left hand side, only Johnson
in the backfield. Tossed to Johnson around the left hand side.
He's down the sideline and he is gone.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
He's gone.

Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
That is going to be a.

Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Fifty six yard touchdown run by Johnson. He got through
some nice blocks once he found an opening. He didn't
look back, and he's got speed to go with that power.

Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
Lou He's now at seven carries for one hundred and
thirty two yards. I mean, I'm not the greatest mathematician
in the world, but anytime you can get almost twenty
yards per carry. That seems like a good bet.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
He makes the most of his opportunities, that's for sure.
Do you know last week he rushed the ball for
I believe it was eight rushes for one hundred and
sixty yards. Now again, if you do the math on
now when we're looking at about twenty yards, he had
four touchdowns last week as well. The extra point attempt
is up and goodbye Preston Lane, and that is going

(01:15:15):
to make you score twenty seven to seven.

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
Zane Crey's pioneers.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
Anytime as a play caller you have a guy that's
gonna go get you twenty yards for play, you feel
pretty good about it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Following tonight's game, It's Friday Night Live. Joined hosts Tim
Skags for a look at all the scores across the region,
interviews with coaches, and listen after the game until midnight
for Friday Night Live, presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling, and
Plumbing Here on ninety four Country WKKJ and also on
Buckeye Country one oh five point five.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
This is a crucial possession here for Waverley. It's twenty
seven to seven. After halftime, Zane trace is gonna start
out with the football. You cannot afford to come away
with no points here. You've got to make something happen,
preferably eat away some clocks so they don't give Zane
Trace another possession heading into halftime. But if you if

(01:16:15):
you go down twenty seven to seven, uh, go into
the break, you're probably looking at a really steep uphill
climb in the second half.

Speaker 1 (01:16:23):
Yeah, And what we're seeing here in this game is
that experience of Zaane Trace and the inexperience of Waverley,
the inexperienced meeting. They just haven't been able to sustain
drives put positive things together. Whereas you see Zane Trace,
they're very methodical on how they do things. They know
what they do well and they continue to do those

(01:16:44):
things well.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
So absolutely, and they're taking advantage of opportunities right now.
Waverley hasn't done that. They've dropped some key passes and
if Waverley wants to compete in this game, they're gonna
have to take advantage of those opportunities.

Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
That kickoff is taking that the line by hold singer
for Waverley. He brings the ball up to the forty
or thirty eight yard line where Waverley will take over
with seven forty to go. Here in the second quarter,
with Zane Tray's leading twenty seven to seven, I think.

Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
If you're Waverley here, you've got to try to establish
some sort of ground game because right now Zane Trace
just expects the pass right and so that you're you're
asking a lot out of a young starting quarterback. When
when the defense knows what's coming.

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Three receivers to the right, one to the left, we
get motioned back to the left and that is the
handoff right up the field to Kennison and that's going
to be brought down immediately in the backfield.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
That was number five for Zane Trace, Lucas Euler.

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Getting in there quickly from his defensive end position to
make that stop.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Speaking of Lucas so Eiler Lou, he is a former Eagle,
which is the pre eminent UH organization in this side
of the Value Youth League at Mary Lou Patton Parks.
I'm just going to take a moment for everybody to recognize.

Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
Right out out to the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
Now we've got all receivers here on the left hand side.
After that motion and m Myers takes it right up
the field. He gets nice yardage on that run, and
that is going to bring up a third down and two,
so he gains about seven on that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
They've had some nice success with that with that QB draw, Lou,
I think that's something we were probably going to see
more and more as we go.

Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
Well, let's remember too, Gunner Myers is not a small
six five fifteen, Yeah, not an easy guy to bring down.
Myers hands off the Kennison around the right hand side
or I'm sorry, the left hand side, and he's going
to get the first down. So again you start out
a sustained drive with the first down. They check that

(01:19:02):
off the box here to start this possession and first
down right at the fifty yard line for Waverley.

Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
So first and ten at the fifty.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
We got three receivers out here to the right, one
of the left, Myers and Kennison or heads. Nelson now
comes in motion and before Myers is able to get
set up to pass the guess who was in there
none other than the former Eagal Lucas.

Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
Oiler and he got to quick.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
There just wasn't much time there for Gunner to find somebody,
and uh, Lucas was on him right away.

Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
Lucas is not a real big guy, but he is
quick and he got back there to Myers before he
could get set up. So two receivers now to the right,
one of the left. Myers back to pass, looking looking
down fail he throws it. That's going to be a
completed pass to number six Trey Perry. That's going to
a gain of Wow, they gave him all the way

(01:20:02):
down to gain of eleven yards.

Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
That'll bring up a third down and five.

Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
That was an impressive throw by Myers. He was kind
of on his back foot, some pressure was coming and
just kind of side arm flung it right to Perry
and hit him right in the numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Myers back to pass load right down the middle field.
It is popped up and guess who has it. Jadon Higgins.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
He picks it off at the thirty He's going down
the left hand side and one guy to catch him,
and that is Gunner Myers. He does make the stop
at the fifteen yard line, so Pez Nelson. The ball
goes off his hands, popped up in the air.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Jadon Higgins gets it and he knows what to do
with it once he catches it, and he returns it
all the way down to the Waverley fifteen yard line.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
And again we've talked about Waverley being young and using
these opportunities to learn that was a past The probably
required more touch than firing at the receiver coming over
the middle, and as a result, it was tipped up
and Higgins was in the right spot at the right time.
It made the play.

Speaker 1 (01:21:13):
So first and ten at Waverley's fifteen for the Zane
Trace Pioneers. McCullough brings the offense out. He got number
three Bryce Johnson as well as number six now in
the backfield as they give Higgins a little bit of
a break, and that is Jake Staffer. Johnson around the

(01:21:34):
left hand side up the field knocked out a bounce
at the.

Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
Five yard line.

Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
Again he tried to side step a defender but stepped
out of bounce, and that is going to be.

Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
A first down for Zane Trace. That's going to make
it first and.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
Goal from the just inside the five yard line five
minutes to go here in the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
The really impressive thing about Johnson, I think Lou that
we've seen on the last few runs is he doesn't hurry.
He gets outside, he takes his time, sees what the
lanes are, and then when it's time, explodes through those lanes.
But he doesn't get himself into tough situations because he's
in a hurry to get somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Yeah, they're on the left side.

Speaker 1 (01:22:13):
That's Blake Brower, Blake Payne, Hudson Williams out there making
some great blocks for him. McCollough turns, keeps it around
the right hand side, gets upfield.

Speaker 3 (01:22:25):
Lumbo. Yeah, no, they're gonna say he is down.

Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
The referee emphatically comes running in saying he was down.
The ball did come out, So a great job there
by Waverley and I think that was Heads and Nelson
that came up and made that stop.

Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
He took quite a hit there, lou That was he
was kind of looking at the guy in front of
him and a guy behind him came and it hit
him pretty hard. And uh, thankfully for McCalla, his knee
was down when the ball came out.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
So that'll bring up a second in goal clock running
just under four point thirty to go. Zaint Trace now
just breaks the huddle. McCullough under center. He's got Johnson
behind him, Gonna pitch out to the left hand side
for Johnson.

Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
He bowls his shoulders down and gets to the end
zone for a three yard touchdown run and that is
his third touchdown of the nights, seven touchdowns in two
games for Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
Do you have him won your fantasy squad? Loo?

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
I do not. I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:23:30):
I don't even I'm not smart enough to know how
to do all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
Well, if he was on your team, he'd be getting
a lot of points right now.

Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
Yes, he would. I understand how some of that stuff works.
Extra point attempt is just apparently makes sit through. The
referee had the side step in a little bit so
he didn't get hit on the backside, but it.

Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Does go through. Thirty four to seven Now is your
score as the Zane.

Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
Trace leads Waverley with four team to go here in
the first half. Fans, Tonight's game will be available for
replays starting tomorrow morning. Click WKKJA dot com and look

the iHeartRadio app or wherever you listen to podcasts. Also

(01:24:21):
next week, Andrew and I will be making the trip
up the Pickaway County for a cross county rival. That'll
be the Circleville Tigers going on the road for the
first time this year at the west Fall Mustang.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
So next week we will be making the.

Speaker 1 (01:24:37):
Trip up to west Fall for the Circleville Tigers and
the Westfall west Fall Mustangs.

Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
And that is.

Speaker 1 (01:24:46):
The arrival of Jay Sherrid back to his alma mater.
There at the Circleville Tigers. He won his first game
as head coach of the Circleville Tigers, and we'll get
a chance to talk to him. Jay and I have
been friends for a long time as he and I
both taught together at Pickerington.

Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
It seems like.

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
For Ages west Fall right now is up twenty one
to twenty on Logan Helm. That could be a really
big opportunity for west Fall next week if they they're
able to win the night with a chance to go
three to zero in the non conference. It's been a
long time since west Fall has been in that situation,
so if they can take care of business, that could
be a really big opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
And we're looking forward to it next Friday night. So
is ain't trace kickoff?

Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
This time goes all the way down to the inside
the twenty. It's bobbled and it is it is taken
in by number three for Waverley, that.

Speaker 3 (01:25:43):
Is Briar Bart but he is.

Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
Immediately tackled and that's going to be inside the twenty
five yard line at the twenty one is where the
Waverley Tigers will take over possession here.

Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
With four ten to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
If you're Waverley here, Lou, you gotta be real careful
because with the field position that you're in right now
and four to ten left on the clock, if you
don't make some progress here, it's gonna get really ugly
heading into half times.

Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
Yeah, so you want to, you know, keep possession, get
that clock running. If you make some positive offensive yards,
then do it. We're gonna get two running backs in
the background, only two receivers to the right h Meyers
hands off to Holsinger this time coming around the right
hand side, and Holsinger is going to gain three yards
on that. That's going to bring up a second down

(01:26:34):
and seven and the clock running just under four minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
Yeah, still still no huddle here, but looks like they're
gonna take their time a little bit more and trying
to choose some clock here.

Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
So again two running backs in the backfield, you have
Holstinger and also Kennison next to Sawyer Myers or Gunner Myers.
I'm sorry, Hostinger straight up the middle this time, he's
going to end up getting the first down. That's going
to be a gain of nine yards on the play.
That's going to give him first down at the thirty

(01:27:07):
five yard line. So first down for Waverley. As a
clock continues. Now right at three thirty, Myers in the
backfield with the two running backs, turns hands off the Holsinger.

Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
I don't know if Holsinger went.

Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
The wrong way this was, but there was a fumble.
This one is going to still be loose. Actually, I
thought it was recovered by Waverley and they're going to
give it to Zain't crave Man. Daint Craise comes away
with them all Grave run there by holding everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
He's not able to hold on to it. And I
didn't see who came out with that ball.

Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
I didn't either, And uh, you're right, it was a
really good run. He was running hard, but the guy
from Zane Trace came from the side and swiped at
it and was able to pull it out.

Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
Well, if you're Zane Trace, here three twenty to go
inside the opponent's fifty yard line right at the forty two.
See if they go for a quick hit here or
they just stay with their run offense may want to
see if they take a quick shot at the end

(01:28:22):
zone here and see if they can catch them out
guard McCullough under center. You only have one running back
in the backfield, that's Bryce Johnson. One receiver here to
the left hand side. Wing backs on each side of
the line. We're gonna get a false start from someone
in the interior of Zane Trace, So back it up

(01:28:42):
five yards, make it first and fifteen. Find all your
scores on the Middle City Apparel scoreboard at w KKJ
dot com. So first and fifteen here for these Ain't

(01:29:06):
Trace Pioneers. Bryce Johnson in the backfield, We've gonna McCalla
under center. This is kind of interesting. We haven't seen
a team go under center a lot though. This time
is past tossed out here to the left hand side,
and guess what, Here goes Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
And we're going to get a flag on the sideline here.
I don't know if that flag is going to be
on Waverley on sportsmanlon conduct maybe, but we'll hold.

Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
It right here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:35):
That would be a forty seven yard touchdown run by
Bryce Johnson. If that stands, two referees are back here
conversing where the flag is at the forty seven yard line.
See if we can't, we're gonna get a personal foul
face mask on Waverly. It definitely wasn't on Bryce Johnson.

(01:29:55):
It must have been on somebody else. So Bryce Johnson's
going to get a forty seven yard touchdown run. So
we talk about a quick hitter there. There you go.
You get a quick hitter.

Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
Just by tossing it out to Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
He goes down to the left hand side for forty
seven yards.

Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
It's a pretty easy game at this point. If you're
calling the plays, give the ball to number three, then
good things are gonna happen. He has ten carries for
one hundred and ninety two yards and four touchdowns in
the first half.

Speaker 1 (01:30:23):
Well, he only has eighteen carries on the year then
right now for over three hundred plus yards.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Give a lot of credit there to Gunner mccallay. There
was some the personal fouls kind of after the play
in the backfield, Waverley player, you know, did something and
mccaulla did a really good job of not reacting, not
firing back, just kind of walking away from the situation.

Speaker 1 (01:30:44):
So that extra point was no good thereby Preston Lane
and the score stands at forty to seven. Zane Trace
over Waverley with three twelve to go here in the
first half. Again, fans, Tonight's game will be available for

(01:31:06):
replay starting tomorrow morning. CLICKWKKJ dot com and look for
our podcast page or search for WKKJ on the iHeartRadio
app or wherever you listen to podcasts. Also following tonight's game,
it's Friday Night Live. Join host Tim Skags for I

(01:31:26):

Friday Night Live, presented by Accurate Hitting, Cooling, and Plumbing.
Here on ninety four Country WKKJ and on Buckeye Country
one oh five point five.

Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
Got another score update in the Huntington Eastern Fight game.
Lou it is uh fourteen to fourteen in the second quarter.
So uh, Huntington really hanging tough against a really good opponent.

Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
Yeah, we saw Honey in the last week.

Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
Last week and the very experienced team there h and
again continues here this week and week two. So a
very short kick because of the penalty that was taken
on the kickoff, and we're gonna get a penalty here
from the judge way back here, and.

Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
Things are starting to get a little chippy. You know,
this happens when when you get really frustrated, you start
just kind of taking out that frustration and you know,
hopefully it doesn't escalate into anything serious.

Speaker 3 (01:32:32):
So we'll see what we got here. It looks like.

Speaker 1 (01:32:36):
We're going to see a hold on Waverley, so that's
going to back them up inside the twenty yard line
here to start this possession. So let's see who's going
to mark it off here. Three oh six to go
here in the first half, and that's going to.

Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
Be inside the fifteen at the eleven yard line is
where they will spot the ball and Waverley will take
over possession here down forty to seven.

Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
Well, here in the second quarter, the starting field position
for Waverley has been much less favorable. And when you
can't sustain any kind of offense for a long period
of time, you're just putting yourself in really bad situations.

Speaker 1 (01:33:24):
So Meyer's hands off to Kennison Kennison going around the
left hand side.

Speaker 3 (01:33:31):
And we'll get another extracurricular flag after the play.

Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
It looks like it's going to be another one on
Waverley hold downfield.

Speaker 3 (01:33:44):
Our personal foul.

Speaker 1 (01:33:45):
We're going to get another personal foul call here that's
going to back them up inside the ten yard line.
So again, if you're Waverley, this clock can't get to
halftime quick enough, so you can get in there, recover,
you can regroup and try to come out here in
the second half and get something positive going on. But

(01:34:06):
we saw that in the first quarter they were able
to go down there after their first drive ended in
a turnover. They had a great drive down the field
to answer, made it seven to seven. But we've had
thirty three points unanswered. Here by Zane Trace all the
way down the field is Myers. He throws it down

(01:34:26):
to number six Tray Perry all the way down to
the thirty nine yard line. That's going to be a
pass play of thirty four yards for the first down.
Great toss there by Gunner Miners.

Speaker 2 (01:34:38):
He's got incredible arm strength. Again, that was kind of
off the back foot and just kind of put it
on the line about thirty five yards later.

Speaker 1 (01:34:46):
I remember this is only a second start in high
school football. Hand off to Kennison right up the middle.
Kennison gets five yards where he's met by number.

Speaker 3 (01:34:55):
Three for Zaint Trace.

Speaker 1 (01:34:57):
That's Bryce Johnson going to bring up but second down
and five to twenty two to go here in the
first half, we're gonna get two receivers to the right,
one to the left. Two running backs in the backfield
for Waverley. Now we're only gonna have one. You have

(01:35:21):
hes Nelson behind Gunner Myers. Gunner takes a snap fake
to hess Nelson. Now he's gonna scramble around to the
left hand siety. He's gonna be met by number five
Lucas Euler Zane Trace for a loss of about one.

Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
Lou hes Nelson has not touched the balls here in
the second quarter for Waverley. And and that's uh, that's
something you have to correct. He's a kid that can
make things happen. He's he's electric, he's quick. You've got
to find a way to get him touches.

Speaker 3 (01:35:56):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:35:57):
And again Gunner Myers has done a great job of
throwing the ball around. He's had some drops by some
of his receivers as well. We get motion out here
to the right. Gunnar Myers back to pass, slings it
out to the left, almost intercepted there by gunner McCullough.
It's gonna bring up a fourth down and five with
one sixteen to go here in the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
Come back rout by Trey Perry, but mccallaugh had it
right all the way and jumped in and almost got
another interception.

Speaker 1 (01:36:24):
It looks like we're going to go forward here with
fourth and five from their own forty four yard line
with one sixteen to go in the first half. So
Myers gets the play call. Gunner Myers back in the
pistol with Kennison behind him, three receivers to the right,

(01:36:45):
one to the left. Myers takes a snap back to pass,
looks downfield, got hes Nelson.

Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
Nelson want to catch? Wow, what a catch.

Speaker 1 (01:36:53):
That is going to be flags thrown because that was
past interference. But hes Nelson just caught the ball out.
That's going to be a gain of twenty two yards
down the field. That's first down. That's a fourth and
five play where Gunner Meyers finds hess Nelson down the
field with an incredible catch. One eight to go here

(01:37:14):
in the first half, Waverley in Zane Trace territory the
thirty nine or thirty four yard line first few ten.

Speaker 2 (01:37:21):
Yeah, there was pass interference that they, you know, are
declining because obviously we got a lot more on the
on the catch. But man, what a great catch by
hess Nelson.

Speaker 1 (01:37:30):
Meyers back to pass, he alludes Blake Brower and now
he's scrambling to try to find something. He is going
to get something out of nothing, and that's going to
be a three yard game. Brings up second and seven
as we go under the one minute mark to go
here in the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
Yeah, that was about almost a six seven yard loss
on the sack, but Myers eluded it and was able
to kind of make something out of nothing there.

Speaker 1 (01:37:53):
So second and seven, two receivers to the right, one
to the left, hand off to number five hes Nelson
or Nont's number five Kennison.

Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
Sorry, he is going to get close to a first down.

Speaker 1 (01:38:05):
We're going to get a stoppage time out by Waverley
with thirty one seconds to go.

Speaker 3 (01:38:12):
Are they going to give him the first down there
or not?

Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
Looks like you're going to short Brings up at third
and one, but Waverley does take the time out with
thirty one seconds to.

Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
Go here in the half.

Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
Yeah, you know, Lou, I think this is an important
you know, possession here for Waverley to try to get
some points.

Speaker 16 (01:38:32):
On the board.

Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
You know, at this point, I don't think you're going
to win the game, but if you can take positive
things from it, you give yourself, you know, some positive
momentum heading in the next week, which again is against
a really good opponent in u Niota. So you don't
want to go in beaten up and dejected and feeling
like you can't do anything offensively.

Speaker 1 (01:38:56):
So this is next week for Waverley at Niota and
next week for Zane Trace they're home again against Amanda.
So Amanda Clear Creek comes here to Zane Trace next
Friday night. As Zane Trace now has put up forty
points in the first half in their first two games
of the year, and that's something people have to take

(01:39:17):
notice of. Myers awaits a snap. No one in the
backfield with him, and we're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
Get somebody's going to be asked to leave for equipment issue.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Maybe, Yeah, it looks like Lucas Oilers coming off the field.

Speaker 3 (01:39:41):
So he'll get those things.

Speaker 1 (01:39:43):
Just we get a player on the field for him,
and here we go Gunnar Myers.

Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
We get Nelson in motion, hands off to Nelson, Nelson.

Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
Coming around the right hand side, and guess what, mister
Blake Brower says, You're not going anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:39:58):
That's Kennison.

Speaker 1 (01:39:59):
I'm sorry, and Kennison does not get the first down.

Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
It brings up a fourth down and one with.

Speaker 1 (01:40:06):
Fifteen seconds to go. Waverley trying to get off another play.
Myers takes a snap, throws out here to number three,
that is Briar barsh for the first down.

Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
So he goes out of bounce.

Speaker 1 (01:40:21):
That stops the clock inside the twenty at the nineteen
with six seconds to go. So if you're Waverley here,
you're at the nineteen yard line, you got to go
to the end zone here with six seconds ago.

Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
Two receivers to the right, one to the left.

Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
Myers takes a snap, goes back to pass, looking downfield.

Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Throws it up in the air.

Speaker 1 (01:40:41):
It's going to be knocked out by Mason Hartley, and
that is going to be the end.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
Of your first half.

Speaker 1 (01:40:51):
First hast comes the end with Zane Trace leading Waverley
forty to seven.

Speaker 42 (01:43:57):
Thanks branging out with us here on the halftime huddle.
On on iHeartRadio, I'm your host Todd Walker. Time now
to check him with Jared Logan Bill with prep Red
Zone Ohio and of course they are always out scouting
around Ohio and ranking the talents and putting out great
information through their website and social media. And nobody knows

(01:44:19):
the talent around the state like prep Read Zone Ohio
and Jared Loganville.

Speaker 8 (01:44:22):
Jared, good to talk with you again.

Speaker 16 (01:44:25):
Great to talk with you, Thanks for having me on
well for last year.

Speaker 42 (01:44:29):
Talking with you, we know that you guys don't do
a quote unquote ranking for the freshman class, but you
rather sort of compile a list of kids to keep.

Speaker 8 (01:44:40):
An eye on as time progresses.

Speaker 42 (01:44:42):
Before we get to that, though, let me get your
thoughts overall talent level in Ohio this year.

Speaker 8 (01:44:49):
Did we lose so many.

Speaker 42 (01:44:50):
Studs that overall it's down or is it about the
same as usual. What's your take on across the board
talent level here in Ohio here in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 44 (01:45:00):
Yeah, well, I mean, I'm uh you know, I'm a
biased uhcout. I guess you might say. I feel like
Ohio has always had the talent. I feel like it's
been more uncovered as of recently. But but no, I
don't think with all the talents that they lost in
the twenty five class that that.

Speaker 16 (01:45:22):
Any anything's down.

Speaker 44 (01:45:23):
I think, in fact, I would say that that classes
are are deeper than ever with D one talent in
Ohio as well as the top end talent of you know,
PO four type town as well. So I think that
with with seven on seven and a lot of the
exposure events that are going on nowadays, with events like

(01:45:46):
Rivals and and you know, those kind of under armored
type events, that Ohio kids are getting the match up
against kids from all over the country and and show
that they belong there as well. So I I believe
it's it's talent rich and just getting deeper.

Speaker 42 (01:46:04):
Jared, let's get to your freshman players to watch. But first,
if I just asked you your top two players in
the state, regardless of class as it pertained to the
ability to play at the next level, maybe not even
the best high school player, But with all of that consideration,
what would be your top two or three overall?

Speaker 44 (01:46:25):
Top two or three, so I would say Jamior Brown
from Wayne, the Ohio State commit, talented receiver, would probably
be number one. Beyond that, I would probably say Telbert
Hill from hob End talent it defensive back. And if

(01:46:47):
we had to go one more, I think I might
go Max Riley, the high stay commit from ave On Lake.

Speaker 8 (01:46:55):
All Right, pretty strong top three.

Speaker 42 (01:46:57):
Let's go focus on the freshman classes we visit with
Jared Logan Bill from Prep breads On Ohio for the Frost.
They don't do rankings, but they do a list of
guys they have their eye on that are likely going
to be in the rankings next year. Jared, who are
some of those freshmen that are going to pop around
the state.

Speaker 44 (01:47:17):
Yeah, as you said, you don't rank freshmen, at least
not going into their freshman season. We want to see
film before we high school film rather before we start
really ranking kids. But some of our top freshmen include
running back Edmund McAllister, the third from PIC Central, Pickerington Central.
It is he's a running back. He's five eight and

(01:47:41):
seventy five pounds ms. Kind of a me and child.
He actually started for Pickerington Central in week one for
varsity football, and anybody who knows the Pickerington Central program,
it's it's storied and it's traditionally a very talent rich program.
And so if you're starting there as a true freshman,

(01:48:03):
you are are a very talented individual that goes for
Edmund If I've eight one hundred and seventy five pounds,
he's a extremely powerful running back, explosive. You look at him,
and you don't look and see that he's a freshman.
He looks kind of like a manchild, to be honest,

(01:48:24):
but a very talented young man. Has good vision when
he runs and really does a great job of just
carving up defenses. So I'm very excited to see how
things continue to progress for him as things go. Another
one would be quarterback Hunter McLoughlin. He goes to Canoe
High School just north of Dayton, and he's sixty one,

(01:48:48):
one hundred and seventy five pounds And this is one
of the most talented young quarterbacks that I've come across.
He really is the whole package, from physical talent to
mental make up to football IQ is just through through
the roof with this young man. Saw him at a

(01:49:09):
at a quarterback showcase this summer where they did a
two minute drill and he basically he operated the two
minute drill for for his offensive set where he called
all the plays, did any audibles? Uh, just super impressive
for for a freshman. And you know, when it comes

(01:49:30):
to physical skills, Cat can spin it. I mean he did,
the ball explodes off his hand. He can make every throw.
So I mean the superlatives you know, can go on
and on. But just a super talented young man and
really excited to see, you know him continue to develop.
Another player will be wide wide receiver Timothy Thompson from

(01:49:52):
Spreefield UH SIMS, a six to seventy pound receiver forrest
size has been His athleticism is really impressive. Has has
a really good feel for for creating separation using it
not just as athleticism, but his route running, which is
somewhat rare for for high school. You know, kids coming

(01:50:15):
into the high school level, you know it's not you
can tell when they're they're athletes, but the kids that
know how to leverage and and do some of those
things that are our football i Q type things as
well as half of those physical traits really impressive. Tens
tends one of those kids. Another court would be quarterback

(01:50:39):
Nate Miller. Nate actually you know with the last name Miller,
you might might sound familiar. He is the nephew of
high former Ohio state quarterback Brexton Miller. UH super athletic kids.
As I said, quarterback, he can throw it, but he's
he's a quarterback that's going to be able to both

(01:51:01):
throw the ball on the runt, really hurts you with
his legs, does a great job of keeping his eyes
up extending plays, not just gonna look to run first.
He's not afraid to sit in the pocket and and
it throws from there. He's gonna get some playing time
early at Westerville Central. You know when freshman, you know,

(01:51:25):
play at that level in the freshman year, you know
they they're going to take the lumps at times. But
super talented kid. I think he has the right demeanor
of the confidence to to succeed and continue to develop.
And the last one I have is wide receiver Silveria Hughes.
He's a Toledo Saint Francis to the sales product. He's

(01:51:47):
five and seventy pounds and he's kind of a just
just really good athlete. They use him in a number
of He's been used in a number of ways, both
in you know ageti plays or versus. Has the speed,
athleticism and get off to get open and create separation

(01:52:08):
vertically in the passing game. So just able to do
a lot of different things, be utilize a lot of
different ways in an offense.

Speaker 16 (01:52:17):
And so.

Speaker 44 (01:52:18):
He actually got his first first touchdown in high school
ball this week. So young, young, inciting group of kids,
and no doubt we'll be building on that group which
just fight fight.

Speaker 16 (01:52:34):
It's the wet chair appetite.

Speaker 42 (01:52:36):
That's Jared Loogan Bill with Prep Reads on Ohio talking

Welcome back to Zane Trace High School where the score

we look at some first half stats to scover some
scores around the area. And again you can check all
these scores throughout the evening on the Mill City Apparel

(01:55:49):
scoreboard at WKKJA dot com. At the half, Dawson Bryant
Colgrove leads Adena twenty two to nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
At the half, it is.

Speaker 1 (01:56:01):
Eastern Pike twenty to fourteen over Huntington.

Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
In the first quarter, it was Athens thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:56:07):
Four to nothing over Paint Valley pikedn Leaves Welston forty two.

Speaker 3 (01:56:12):
To nothing at the half.

Speaker 1 (01:56:14):
Also into half it is Uniota twenty eight to nothing
over Vinton County. At the half it is west Fall
twenty one twenty over Logan Elmen. And also in the
first quarter it was Portsmouth Notre Dame fourteen to nine
over Southeastern Andrew.

Speaker 3 (01:56:34):
You got some stats in the first.

Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
Half, Yeah, we do zin trace or amassed forty points.
Did not complete a pass. They were zero for two
passing the football, but rushing they racked up two hundred
and eighty one yards on twenty two carries, which is
pretty remarkable. Bryce Johnson ten carries for one hundred and

(01:56:59):
ninety two yards and four touchdowns. Higgins had seven carries
for thirty three yards in a touchdown, and Gunner mccaullay
had five carries for fifty six yards and a touchdown.
They were able to do whatever they wanted on the
ground as far as Waverley goes. Gunnar Myers was eleven
of twenty passing the football for one hundred and sixty

(01:57:20):
two yards. Rushing the football, they were not nearly as effective,
twenty two carries for forty seven yards. Holsinger led them
with twenty two yards on the ground and receiving as
Nelson had five receptions for eighty two yards.

Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
So again, Waverley in the first half did have a
couple of drives that were pretty good. They had a
fourth and sixth play where they actually found a receiver.

Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
In the end zone.

Speaker 1 (01:57:45):
He had a hand on the ball, but it wasn't
able to bring it in and that was a big play.

Speaker 3 (01:57:50):
They were only down twenty to seven at that time.

Speaker 1 (01:57:53):
Since that time, again, after their first score, it has
been a thirty three to nothing. Zane Trayce Pioneer unanswered points.
I should say for those Pioneers where we stand forty
to seven here at the half, Andrew, it's you look

(01:58:14):
at this Zaint Traise team. We talk about the experience
of maturity they have, you know, offensively to be as
efficient that they have forty eight points with a running
clock in the second half of game one, forty points
at halftime here already that's eighty eight points and roughly
six quarters of football to start this football season. Coach,

(01:58:38):
where it's got to be very happy at that output.

Speaker 8 (01:58:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
Absolutely, They're a team with an identity. They know exactly
who they are. They execute that really really well. They've
got playmakers in the backfield that can make plays even
when things aren't always there and available. And you know,
I think what you're going to start seeing again, Zane Trace,
his team's really loading up the box. They're gonna put eight,

(01:59:04):
nine to ten guys in the box and say you're
gonna have to try to beat us some other way.
And I think they have the athletes and the quarterback
and Dunna McCall to be able to do that. But
right now, they're just so dominant running the football that
they're just kind of having their way.

Speaker 1 (01:59:24):
And again, you talk about the rushing offense, you gotta
look at that offensive line. Blake Brower, Blake Payne, Connor Smith,
Blane Reeves and Evan Minor and even coach Ware has
talked about in his interview how the running backs and
the tight end in receivers have done a good job blocking. Also,

(01:59:44):
we've saw a lot of us go around the outside. Yes,
you do get blocking from the interior line, but you're
also seeing those other guys making some key blocks down
the field.

Speaker 2 (01:59:54):
Well to that point, on a play that didn't end
up standing because of a hold that probably wasn't all
that sequential with the play, they did that handoff to
Williams who is coming from the outside, and both running
backs who are are great at running the football. We're
the lead blockers, and they embraced that. They want that
opportunity to help their teammate get yards. And when you

(02:00:18):
have guys that are bought into that at every single
position on the football field, it makes it so much
easier for everybody else.

Speaker 1 (02:00:27):
Yeah, and again, I don't want to see Bryce Johnson
coming around the corner at the ball, whether he has
the ball or not, though, because he has proven to
be quite effective as he does that.

Speaker 3 (02:00:39):
So we get close to the.

Speaker 1 (02:02:20):
Back at Zane Trace High School where Zane Trace leads
Waverley forty to seven at halftime.

Speaker 3 (02:02:26):
As we mentioned earlier, next week, we.

Speaker 1 (02:02:28):
Will be at west Fall High School when the Westfall
Mustangs will take on their cross county rival, the Circleville Tigers.
So Week three will take us to pick Away County
for the battle between the Tigers and the Mustangs. That
is next Friday night, and Andrew, next Friday is actually September.

Speaker 2 (02:02:50):
Yeah, it's crazy. It doesn't seem like we should be
there yet, but it's uh, it's here, you know, Lou.
I think as we go inside the locker room at halftime,
there's two different messages going on. If you're in the
zany Trace locker room, the messages look, don't be satisfied,
don't get sloppy, continue to do the things that you've
done to put yourself in this position. And if tempers

(02:03:12):
start flaring a little bit, which we saw a little
bit in the first half, don't get involved. Don't allow
yourself to be potentially in a position where you get
ejected and then have to miss the game next week.
If you're on the Waverley side, you're not going in
trying to convince the guys that we're gonna go out
and win this game. Right, kids aren't stupid, they know better.

Speaker 8 (02:03:31):
But I think what you have.

Speaker 2 (02:03:32):
To do is create goals where we can get small
victories in the second half, things that we do well
over the course of these next two quarters, so that
you have something to take into next week.

Speaker 1 (02:03:45):
And you're exactly right, and the problem with that when
we get into things like this, you got to score
forty to seven that's thirty three points. So that means
in the second half we're going to start with a
running clock. So if you're Waverley, you know you do
have an offense that you are prepared to go quickly
with because this game is going to go quick. It
will if it continues to stay at this court. Now

(02:04:07):
Waverley scores one, it'll go under thirty and we'll go
regular conditions.

Speaker 3 (02:04:11):
But you're right, Waverley has got to find something positive
to take out of this week to go into next
week and then eventually into their league season. This is
a young team. This is a team that is going
to get better, no question.

Speaker 1 (02:04:27):
You see the athleticism, yep, you see the talent. They
have just run into a really good Zane Trace team
and unfortunately next weekend they're going to run into another
good SBC team in Unioto.

Speaker 2 (02:04:41):
Yeah, you know, I kind of thought tonight would be
a barometer for Zane Trace. I think everyone would agree
that Uniota is the presumptive favorite in the SVC. I
think tonight was kind of coming in was like, is
Zane Trace, you know, kind of another level down or
could they give un Yodo a game? And from what

(02:05:02):
I've seen, tonight. They're a team that could present some
problems for Unyoda. Now again, I think U Nyoda is
probably the team that everybody expects to win it, and
rightfully so. They're a fantastic football team and we'll see
them here in a few weeks. But I've seen some
things from Zane Trace, especially the ability to control the

(02:05:22):
tempo of a game where they can they can use
that to beat a team that might be a little
bit better than them.

Speaker 1 (02:05:30):
Yeah, you keep Unyoto offense off the field, that's gonna
be tough.

Speaker 3 (02:05:33):
For them to score.

Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
Yeah, and that's what the Zane Trace team can do.
Zane Trace won the toss at the beginning of the game.
It deferred to the second half, so they're gonna get
the second half kickoff as we get started here, your
third quarter is brought to you by Chillicothe Truck and
back to receive this for Zane Trace is Higgins and
Hartley and we're gonna get has Nelson kicking off for Waverley.

(02:05:59):
The kickoff goes all the way back to the fifteen
yard line and I'm not sure I believe that's Bryce
Johnson who has.

Speaker 3 (02:06:05):
The ball and if he can find open field.

Speaker 1 (02:06:08):
You better watch out, and he has it right now.
He's going to get pushed out of bounce at roughly
the forty nine yard line of the Zane tray. So
a good return by Bryce Johnson. He did a great
job at catching that ball too. He went backwards, jumped
up and caught it above his head.

Speaker 2 (02:06:25):
Yeah, he wasn't even the deep man, but he kind
of found himself in a situation where the ball was
coming right at him and he made a play on it.
And then just just what he does, which just.

Speaker 3 (02:06:34):
Said is my night, I'm going to go with it.

Speaker 1 (02:06:37):
So we're right at the forty nine yard line, almost
to the fifty here for a Zane trace.

Speaker 3 (02:06:42):
To start this quarter.

Speaker 1 (02:06:44):
Clock continues to run as we're at that thirty three
point margin. So coming out, McCullough is going to be
under center with Johnson and Higgins behind him. One receiver
to the right, a call of turns hands off the
Higgins he's coming to the left, goes back up the middle.
The pile continues to move, and that is going to

(02:07:04):
be a gain of four on that play. It's going
to bring up second and six at the Waiverley forty
six yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:07:18):
I think if you're Zinn's Trace here on maybe this
possession of the next year, trying to eat up clock again,
trying to you know, get this game, you know, over
with without any injuries. And uh, you know, once you
get into the fourth quarter, put all the backups in
and let them go to work and have some game reps.

Speaker 3 (02:07:35):
Yeah, that's the key thing here.

Speaker 2 (02:07:37):
No injuries.

Speaker 1 (02:07:37):
Yes, mccaullough looking at the play clock, something I haven't
had to worry about. Uh, And he lets it run
all the way down, hands off to Johnson around the
right hand side. He's going to get a gain of one.
We're gonna take it all the way down to the
forty five yard line. Looks like we're gonna ad our
first cramp of the game. That's Blake Brower and he's

(02:07:59):
got a cramp up there and his leg.

Speaker 3 (02:08:00):
He's gonna come lumping off.

Speaker 1 (02:08:01):
We're gonna get a substitute offensive lineman number fifty six
coming into the game for.

Speaker 3 (02:08:08):
Zane Trace, and that's Uriah Robbins.

Speaker 1 (02:08:13):
Certainly does not look like an injury other than just
a cramp and he's trying to work out kind of
you know. Not a humid night though, so I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
It's not hot and it's not humid. Get that kids
from Gatorade.

Speaker 1 (02:08:31):
Well, now we're going to get a time out, and
Blake Browner says, Okay, I'm ready, let's go. So Blake's
gonna go back in the game, which he can with
the time out here.

Speaker 3 (02:08:42):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (02:08:42):
Coach Ware says, no, go back over there and sit down,
young man. We're gonna do this one without you. But
I don't think he was in the right formation. He
wanted to make sure everyone was set in and understood
what needed to be done here with this play. So
the only time the clock does stop here is when
there is a time out and Coach Wears went out

(02:09:03):
there discussed the play with his offense, and now they
run back out into the field nine thirty seven to go.
Here in the third quarter with Zane Trace leading forty
to seven.

Speaker 16 (02:09:14):
Again.

Speaker 1 (02:09:14):
You can find all the scores on the Mill City
Apparel scoreboard at WKKJA dot com. Higgins goes in motion
taps McCullough as he goes by pitch out to Bryce Johnson.
He goes straight up field after he gets the pitch
and looks like he's gonna come up one yard short

(02:09:35):
of that first down that's gonna be gain of four
brings up a fourth and one from the forty one
yard line of Waverley.

Speaker 3 (02:09:43):
Mis Brower goes back in.

Speaker 1 (02:09:48):
As the clock is going to go under nine minutes
here before we get another play where coach Wears signals
into play. Zane Trace breaks the huddle caller comes up
to the line, goes underneath center. He's got Johnson and
Higgins behind him, and a hard snap count by McCullough

(02:10:11):
gets Waverley.

Speaker 3 (02:10:13):
To jump off side.

Speaker 1 (02:10:14):
That's gonna make it a first down as they go
down now to the thirty six yard line. So again
I think that was a design thing and McCullough used
that opportunity to draw them off sides.

Speaker 2 (02:10:27):
Yeah, again a mental mistake by the Tigers, one that
you really want to avoid in that kind of situation.
I'm sure all the coaches were yelling out, you know,
don't don't jump, don't jump. But sometimes as a player,
it sticks. Just take over and you make a mistake.

Speaker 16 (02:10:43):
Kall.

Speaker 1 (02:10:43):
It takes a snap hands off, the Williams now around
the right hand side. He gets up feel quickly inside
the thirty yard line. So again they go back to
that play we talked about. He had a good run earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:10:55):
Hudson Williams comes around to the left hand side on a.

Speaker 1 (02:11:01):
I guess you'd call that a reverse. He was in motion,
took the handoff as he came across and gets a
gain of five out of it, brings up a second
down and five at the thirty yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:11:12):
And again, lou the impressive thing is just how committed
everyone on the field is to blocking the man in
front of him. And as a when you're a person
that gets the ball, to know that your guys are
gonna give it everything they've got in the one on
one battle just gives you so much confidence.

Speaker 3 (02:11:31):
McCullough keeps it.

Speaker 1 (02:11:32):
He goes back to pass deep down the field, and
that's gonna be intercepted by hens Nelson at the two
yard line. He was trying to find Mason Hartley down there.
He threw it up and hes Nelson did a great
job of reading that ball and going and finding it,
and he's gonna get the interception all the way inside
the five yard line. At the they're gonna mark it

(02:11:53):
at the three yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:11:54):
Yeah, just under threw it, you know. The his receiver
Hartley was open, but just kind of left a little
bit short. I actually loved the call by coach Wears. There,
give your guy a chance to make a play. Throw
in the football. You've proven everything you need to prove
on the ground. Put the ball in your quarterback's hands
and let him. Let him have a shot.

Speaker 1 (02:12:15):
Put something else on film for other people to look
at as well. So Waverley takes over Myers, takes a snap,
turns and tries to hand it off. But that wasn't
a real good handoff. It looks like Holsinger was a
guy who had the ball. We're gonna get a safety
out of this.

Speaker 2 (02:12:31):
Well. I think Blake Brower has recovered from the cramp.
He was in the backfield right away there and brought
the ball carrier down.

Speaker 1 (02:12:40):
So Blake Brower is going to get credit with that safety,
and that will now take the score up to forty
two to seven.

Speaker 3 (02:12:54):
So Holsting tackled in the end.

Speaker 1 (02:12:57):
Zone by Blake Brower, and now we will get a
kickoff or a free kick by Waverley. Tos Aint Tray
Aint Trace will get the ball back and the clock
continues to run under six minutes and thirty seconds We'll
take a quick time out here. You're listening to the
accurate heating, cooling, and plumbing game of the Week on

Speaker 1 (02:14:28):
Higgins takes the free kick at the forty yard line
of Zaint Trace. He's up the left hand side. He's
going to take it all the way down to.

Speaker 3 (02:14:35):
The Waverley twenty two yard lines.

Speaker 1 (02:14:39):
A great return there by Higgins as he gets the
ball all the way down to where they had it
pretty much when they threw the interception. So they will
take position at Waverley's twenty two yard line to start
their second possession of the second half, and we're going
to see the Zaint Trace pioneer offense back on the

(02:15:00):
field with Gunnar McCullough, Jayden Higgins, and Bryce Johnson in
the backfield.

Speaker 2 (02:15:08):
Yeah, I think this is probably the last drive we'll
see of the first team, uh for you know, four
to twenty left here in the in the third.

Speaker 1 (02:15:15):
Quarter, McCullough hands off the Higgins, he goes around the
right hand side. He's gonna go straight up field after
he makes a cut, and he's gonna get a gain
of five. Looking at scores around the areas or aDNA
trails Dawson Bryant thirty to nothing in the third quarter,
piked in leads Welston forty two to nothing. That's in

(02:15:38):
the third quarter. Chillicothe Trails London forty three to fourteen.
In the third quarter, Huntsman or Huntington now Trails Eastern
twenty eight to fourteen. That is in the third quarter,
Circleville Tigers. They're tied with Washington Blue Lions twenty to twenty.

Speaker 3 (02:15:55):
That is in the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (02:15:57):
McCullough under Centergin Johnson behind him, toss to Bryce Johnson
around this left hand side and untouched until he gets
to the end zone. Is Bryce Johnson touchdown zant trace.
That is a seventeen yard touchdown run by none other

(02:16:18):
than Bryce Johnson.

Speaker 2 (02:16:20):
Well, Bryce Johnson's making an early case here for SVC
Player of the Year on the offensive side of the football.
He is outstanding. And the scary thing, Lou is that
for all SVC seems is that he's only a junior.
He's going to be doing this for quite a while yet.
So just an outstanding night. Thirteen carries, two hundred and

(02:16:42):
fifteen yards, five touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (02:16:45):
Tonight, Caleb Skaggs now into attempt the extra point.

Speaker 3 (02:16:49):
His kick is.

Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
Good, So we get a second string kicker in the game,
junior Caleb Skaggs, and he is good on his attempt,
and that is now making the score forty nine to seven.

Speaker 3 (02:17:04):
So Blake R.

Speaker 1 (02:17:05):
Bryce Johnson, I'm sorry, has five touchdowns tonight, four last week.

Speaker 3 (02:17:10):
That is nine in two games. That is very impressive.

Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
That's the season's worth for most guys.

Speaker 10 (02:17:15):
He is.

Speaker 2 (02:17:16):
He's depth at finding the end zone.

Speaker 3 (02:17:20):
That's almost a big Workue.

Speaker 2 (02:17:23):
Yeah, I dug down deep for that one.

Speaker 3 (02:17:27):
Athens Leeds Payton Valley thirty four nothing. That's still at
the half.

Speaker 1 (02:17:32):
We have some other scores here as we update our
score page, and again that score page is brought to
you by Mill City Apperil.

Speaker 3 (02:17:44):
Looking around the other games.

Speaker 1 (02:17:48):
Logan Elm and Westfall still twenty one twenty at the half,
and we're looking thereo Unioto thirty five to eight over
Maton County. That is in the third quarter. So kick
off here by Zane Trace. Waverley back deep to receive

(02:18:10):
has Nelson.

Speaker 2 (02:18:13):
And yees Me was down on the catch.

Speaker 3 (02:18:16):
That was number three for Waverley and that was Briar March.

Speaker 1 (02:18:23):
So Waverley now takes over at the twenty four yard line,
their first possession here of the second half, with two
thirty one to go in this third quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:18:34):
Technically it's their second possession. Lou the first possession, lesson.

Speaker 3 (02:18:38):
You are right. Second possession and again.

Speaker 1 (02:18:45):
Waverley gets better field positioned to start this second possession
of the second half, and let's see what they come out.

Speaker 3 (02:18:52):
You got two receivers to the right too.

Speaker 1 (02:18:54):
To the left end, you have Kennison behind Gunner Myers.
Myer's getting ready for a stap snap. We've got he
Nelson in motion. Throw out to hes Nelson and that
is going to be incomplete. Again, a lot of passes
off the hands of the receivers here. I think Gunner McCalla,
we've got two gunners in the game at quarterback and

(02:19:17):
how often does that happen, and how ironic with the
name gunner. But Gunner Myers has done a great job
of throwing the ball. I thought he looks very confident
back there in the pocket.

Speaker 2 (02:19:30):
We got five receivers set up on the left side here, Coach.

Speaker 3 (02:19:33):
They're all lined up.

Speaker 1 (02:19:36):
It's two, two and one, and then you just get
Gunner Myers to take the ball and go straight up
the middle with a run. That was a design run
with those five out there, and that was going to
be a gain of two. That'll bring up third down
and eight. Looks like we're going to see somewhat note
and we're going to see some of those receivers move now.

(02:20:00):
We're going to see three to the left and two
to the right. Myers is going to be alone in
the backfield. Snap back to passes, Myers flings it out
to the left hand side, and that I believe is
a catch and that's going to be a first down.

Speaker 3 (02:20:21):
I just can't see the number all.

Speaker 1 (02:20:22):
The way over there on that side of the field thirteen.
That is number thirteen, which is Caleb Reisner. So first
down for Waverley thirty two seconds ago here in the quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:20:36):
That you know, that pass right there just kind of
gives you a glimpse low of the natural arm talent
that Gunner Myers has that was across the field and
he put it right on the money.

Speaker 1 (02:20:46):
Myers back to pass, He's got a gets a screen
pass right to trade Kerry right in the middle of
the field. But that was read excellent by the linebackers
of Saint Trace, Bryce Johnson, Grady Stewart right there. It
is going to be a gain of two and that

(02:21:07):
is going to bring us to the end of the
third quarter. It is forty nine to seven. Saint trace
over Waverley. You're listening to the accurate Heating, Cooling and
Plumbing game of the Week on ninety four count three

This is hometown high school football coverage on ninety four

Speaker 1 (02:22:30):
As we start the fourth quarter, here it is Kennison
right up the middle with a gain of five. The
fourth quarter is brought to you by Mill City a peril,
so again a positive gain.

Speaker 16 (02:22:46):
Here by.

Speaker 3 (02:22:48):
Waverfully.

Speaker 1 (02:22:49):
Kennison goes right up the middle for five yards. To
start the fourth quarter, Gunnar Myers awaits a snap. Nelson
goes in motion, quick out pass to Tray Perry. Tray
gives him a nice target out there. Tray Perry stands
at six', four so he provides a nice, target especially

(02:23:16):
to the, outside And Gunner myers found him for a
gain of around seven yards six yards on the.

Speaker 2 (02:23:21):
Play, yeah, Lou When Gunner myers is, comfortable he's able
to put it kind of wherever he wants and did
a nice. Time we're reading that and put right on
the numbers To.

Speaker 1 (02:23:31):
Perry perry goes in motion now to the left hand,
side and we're gonna get some. Movement as you had
a guy in, motion no one else can. Move so
we have two guys in motion and that's gonna be
a penalty five. Yards brings up first and fifteen from
the forty yard line Of. WAVERLEY a little.

Speaker 2 (02:23:56):
Surprised loo to see The zane trace first units still
on the field. HERE i know you don't want things
to get, sloppy but they also don't want to risk
injury here in a game that's you know the way it,
is so be interesting to see how long they stay out.

Speaker 1 (02:24:12):
There got Her myers back to pass down the middle
looking For. Perry perry catches it and that's going to
be a big gain For. Waverley that's going to be
a gain of thirty two. Yards, Again myers To perry
with a big gain for The Waverley.

Speaker 2 (02:24:30):
Tigers again stoods all in the, pocket Did myers and
Hit perry deep over the.

Speaker 1 (02:24:36):
Middle myers awaits a, snap gets Motion myers straight up
the middle with a run quarterback draw and that's going
to be a gain of five bring up second and
five is all the way down to the twenty five yard.
Line so a get good momentum here For waverley as

(02:24:59):
they continue to gain yard each year as the fourth
quarter continues to roll.

Speaker 2 (02:25:06):
By, YEAH i think THAT qb draw like that we
mentioned lou is gonna be something that they're gonna go
to often throughout the course of this.

Speaker 1 (02:25:13):
Season Gunner myers with a, snap turns to, throw sets
his feet Findes Tray perry deep in the end zone
for a.

Speaker 3 (02:25:21):
Touchdown what a throw and what a.

Speaker 1 (02:25:24):
Catch Gunner myers To Tray perry for twenty five yards
for A waverley. Touchdown and that is at the eight
forty four. Mark so twenty five yards passed From myers.

Speaker 3 (02:25:42):
To Trey. Perry and they've had a good connection here.
Tonight they, have.

Speaker 2 (02:25:47):
Especially here in the second. Half perry did a really
nice job of knowing exactly where he was on the
field and making sure he corralled the ball before stepping
out of the back the end.

Speaker 1 (02:26:00):
Zone extra point attempt is no. Good that extra point
attempt by thirty Four Bryson, spengenberg and that is no.
Good the score is right now forty nine to. Thirteen
so again a nice score there By waverley and a
great passing catch From Gunner myers To Trey.

Speaker 2 (02:26:23):
Perry that's now six catches for one hundred and fourteen
yards For Trey. Perry he's had a really good.

Speaker 1 (02:26:32):
Night and, again this is an offense that is definitely
going to get better as the season goes, on as
these guys get more comfortable and very impressed By Gunner
myers and what he's able to do in the athleticism
that he. Has he's got good height to, him he's
he's a thick young, man and he's going to be

(02:26:54):
hard to bring.

Speaker 2 (02:26:54):
Down, yeah and you, know if you're seeing you, know
if you're an opposing coach that's watching this film, over
you're going to recognize That waverley left quite a few
points on the field with just some drop passes THAT
i don't think that are going to continue to happen
in the weeks the weeks to. Come so it's an

(02:27:14):
offense that does present. Problems this is not an offense
you see a lot at the high school, level and
so you're going against something that you just don't prepare
against a, Lot and like you, Mentioned Gunner myers can
can kind of put it all over the.

Speaker 1 (02:27:29):
Field so we're going to get a kickoff here By
waverley and back deep for The Zane Trace pioneers Is
higgins And. Hartley kick is caught By Bryce johnson at
the twenty two yard. Line Bryce johnson goes straight up
the field gets to the thirty eight yard, line where

(02:27:50):
we will get a stop And Zay trace now comes
out on offense. Again next week we will be at
West Fall High school for the H Cross county rival
The Circleville tigers and the West Fall. Mustang so join

(02:28:13):
us Next friday night from West Fall High.

Speaker 2 (02:28:16):
School some changes here to the to the. Lineup Raziane
trace McCall is still in a, quarterback But Bryce johnson
is no longer in the. Game. Uh we got With,
Higgins Levi.

Speaker 1 (02:28:33):
Marshall it looks like as one running back and number
Six Jake staffer at the other And staffer is the
one who gets the pitch around the right hand side
and he's going to get a gain of.

Speaker 3 (02:28:46):
Looks like.

Speaker 1 (02:28:47):
Three So jake stopfer a gain of three. Here, uh
AND i believe that's his second carrier THAT i. SAW
i saw him earlier in the. Game so brings up
a second and seven from the forty two yard line
Of Zane. Trace looks like we see still most of

(02:29:11):
the offensive line still out there with some of the.
Backups you still Have Hudson williams there at tight, end
but two new running. Backs connor McCullough takes a snap
pitch out to number two and that Is Levi Marshall
Levin marshall tries to cut it up field to.

Speaker 3 (02:29:30):
Gain something out of.

Speaker 1 (02:29:31):
That looks like he's going to be a loss of
maybe one on the, play brings up a third down
and eight as we go under the sixth minute mark
here to.

Speaker 3 (02:29:41):
Go in the fourth.

Speaker 2 (02:29:42):
Quarter, yeah good opportunity here For Zane trace to get
some other guys in game. Reps and you, know despite
you know, what who you're out there, against there's there's
just no way to prepare for a game like situation in.
Practice so it's invaluable exp as for some of these.

Speaker 1 (02:30:00):
Guys So kenne McCullum brings him out of the, huddle
he goes under the center to take the snap here
with five point thirty to go in the fourth. Quarter
toss out to this time As Jake, stauffer and he
is met at the line of scrimmage for a gain
of mar again maybe a loss of one on the.

(02:30:21):
Play following tonight's, game It's Friday Night, live joining Hosts
Tim skaggs for a look at all the scores across
the region and interviews with. Coaches it's after the game
until midnight For Friday Night, live presented by accurate, heating,
cooling and plumbing here on ninety Four COUNTRY wkkj And

(02:30:41):
Buckeye country one oh five point. Five so we're gonna
get a punt. Here we haven't seen too many punts
in this, game but we are going to see a
punt here with four.

Speaker 3 (02:30:53):
Forty five to, go.

Speaker 1 (02:30:55):
And that Is Jake staffer back to, punt nice punt
and is fielding at the thirty yard line Of. WAVERLEY
i believe that It's Head's nelson who was back there
to field that.

Speaker 2 (02:31:06):
Punt, yeah that was about an eight yard, return but
he made a lot of asimistic at those eight.

Speaker 3 (02:31:12):
Yards so clock continues to run here with four point
thirty to go in the fourth, quarter And.

Speaker 1 (02:31:20):
Waverley comes out on. Offense see if they can't get
one more solid possession. Here, Again Coach crabtree over there
coaching and trying to get these young guys some experience
and valuable experience at, that especially on a football field
on A friday.

Speaker 2 (02:31:37):
Night, well if you can put together another good drive,
here combined with what you did on the last, possession
you leave this game feeling like you've got, something like
you've got something that works and.

Speaker 3 (02:31:48):
That you can go to straight up the.

Speaker 1 (02:31:50):
Field Is, KENNISON i believe From, Reisner i'm, sorry and
he is going TO.

Speaker 2 (02:31:58):
I was.

Speaker 3 (02:31:59):
Correct It.

Speaker 1 (02:31:59):
Wasennison there's not very too many times in my LIFE
i can Say i'm, correct But i'm gonna Say i'm
correct here Justin kennison on that one goes straight up
for a gain of about. Eleven that's a first down
right at the forty nine yard line Of Waverley. Gotthera
myers takes a, snap hands off To kennison, again he.

Speaker 3 (02:32:18):
Goes up the middle for a gain of. Two that's
going to bring up second down and eight.

Speaker 1 (02:32:28):
To Quickly waverley back up to the line of, Scrimmage
Gunner myers get some. Set you got two receivers to the,
right two out here to the, left And kennison next
To myers in the. Backfield myers awaits a, snap takes
it hands off To, kennison who goes around the right hand.
Side he's up the field and he's going to get

(02:32:50):
a gain of about twelve or so on that, play
and that's going to bring up another first down For.
Waverley as we continue to see the clock go under
three point.

Speaker 2 (02:33:03):
Thirty to, go here in the fourth quarter to go, Ahead,
Dad no two first downs here on this drive already
again if nothing, else is a great confidence builder for
them moving.

Speaker 1 (02:33:13):
Forward waverley first down at the thirty five yard, Line
myers goes, deep overthrows both the defender and his intended
Receiver god to bring up a third down or first
second down and.

Speaker 2 (02:33:26):
Ten he, uh he Had Trey perry in one on
one coverage With Mason. Hartley Trey perry's sixty Four Mason
hartley's five eight over on the on the other. SIDE
i kind of surprised he didn't Give trey a chance
to go up and get.

Speaker 1 (02:33:40):
One so second and ten from the thirty five yard,
Line myers gets a snap hands off The kennison goes
around the right hand side up the. Field i'm going
to get a gain of. Five got to bring up
a third down and five from the thirty yard line
Of Zane. Trace as we go under the too twenty
mark in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (02:34:05):
At about, six.

Speaker 2 (02:34:07):
Certainly four down territory here for The. Tigers you just
don't want to have a negative play. Here get something
positive and if you're not able to get the first,
down at least put yourself in a position to have
a fourth down play with only a few yards to.

Speaker 1 (02:34:19):
Go three receivers out here to the. Left myers looks that,
way looks down in the center of the. Field he
throws it a little high for Hes. Nelson he goes
off his hands. Incomplete i'm going to bring up a
fourth down and five from the thirty yard. Line as
the clock continues to run at one forty five to,
go get a nice, route nice, pass just.

Speaker 3 (02:34:42):
Wasn't able to make that.

Speaker 1 (02:34:44):
Connection see if we can't get a positive play here
For waverley under a minute thirty to. Go, now three
receivers to the, left one to the. Right myers awaits,
snap Sends kennison out in, motion looks, downfield tries.

Speaker 2 (02:35:05):
To throw it To oh what a catch it.

Speaker 1 (02:35:09):
Was it was being basically two guys caught. It it
was the defender McCullough and the offensive player.

Speaker 3 (02:35:16):
Who was number.

Speaker 2 (02:35:19):
Three, YEAH i believe that was Bort.

Speaker 3 (02:35:21):
Fryar, BArch and both of them basically had caught it
at one, point But BArch came away with.

Speaker 1 (02:35:27):
It so great job. There it's going to be a
first down at the twenty yard. Line myers looks at BArch,
again and that's going to be. Incomplete so that's going
to bring up a second down and ten from the
twenty yard. Line as we get to thirty five seconds
to go here in the, game let's see If waverley
runs one more, play at least they get to court.

(02:35:50):
Play myers quickly calls it gets every one, position got
two receivers to the, right to the.

Speaker 2 (02:35:56):
Left i'm gonna Give Trey perry a chance here on the.
Outside If I'm waverley.

Speaker 1 (02:36:00):
Down the middle two As nelson that's overthrown and that
is fifteen seconds, left brings up a third. Down i'm
not sure they get set and run another play, here
as you have receivers all the way down the. Field
so that looks like it's going to be the end
of the ball game here As waverley still has receivers

(02:36:20):
down the, field and that is. It so your final

see next.

Speaker 1 (02:41:06):
Week The Circleville tigers coming in possibly a two and
oh to face a possible two and Oh Westfall mustangs
as they lead The Logan El braves in the fourth
quarter twenty eight to. Twenty it is The Eastern eagles

southeastern is Trailing Portsmouth Notre dame seventeen to, nine that
is in the second. Quarter so as we await our
interview here with Coach, Wears we're going to go down
to the field now with Coach wears and coach Or Andrew.

Speaker 2 (02:41:50):
Digg i'm down here with coach Dillan ware's coach dominant
dominant performance. TONIGHT i think as a, coach your three
is when you start to see the culture that you've
instilled start to show up in the results on the. Field,
already first two, weeks beat The Logan elm team that
has beaten, you beat A waverley team that has beaten.

(02:42:12):
You what are what have you seen from your team
that they're really starting to understand what you're trying to build.

Speaker 22 (02:42:20):
Here you're you're absolutely right with the year three. Thing
especially just the guys know me. Now they kind of
know WHAT i value and WHAT i expect and what's
the coaching staff expects. Them AND i, also you, know
have a very high familiarity with my. Team you, know
the Guys i've been with for three years, NOW i
know their, strengths, weakness what they're good, at you, know
maybe where there their areas of weakness are and every
things like. That so, yeah they're they're it's it's it's

(02:42:44):
obviously fun to win and exciting to.

Speaker 2 (02:42:47):
Win but the the the.

Speaker 22 (02:42:49):
Games we've, won for the most, part we've won the
way that we've preached in practice trying to win the.

Speaker 2 (02:42:55):
Game we've we've executed what what we plan to do
in the first. Place Coach Bryce johnson is a. Load
he is an absolute. Stud over two hundred yards, tonight
five touchdowns, again minimal. Carries talk about how comforting it
is as a head coach to go into a game
with a kid like that who can make such a

(02:43:17):
difference on a good.

Speaker 22 (02:43:18):
Night, YEAH i mean a lot of Lot to answer this.
Question first off Is bryce is, great And i'll get
there in a. SECOND i don't want to forget the
guys that are blocking for, him THE o line in,
general not just, that you, know with us having multiple
tight ends of the. Game Hudson williams is an absolute unsung.
Hero not necessarily always on the stat, sheet but he
plays as physical and as hard as Anybody i've ever.

(02:43:40):
Coached bryce Is bryce is a large reason of why
we do what we. Do we have enough confidence in.
Him even when there's not a, Hole bryce does a
pretty good job of making a. Hole it's very very
hard to get him on the. Ground it'd be silly
of us not, to you, know have an offense where
we try to get him the ball as much as we.
CAN i just want to say, too it is as

(02:44:01):
much as you know Gifted bryce. Is bryce works very very.
Hard he works very hard in to wait, room practice,
hard different stuff like. That so you, Know, Bryce bryce
earns his right to do the things that he does
on the.

Speaker 2 (02:44:12):
Field absolutely, defensively, tonight, coach coming in playing a team
Like waverley that throws the ball as much as they,
do it's not us not something you see a lot
in high school. FOOTBALL i thought you guys did a
good job of keeping things in front of him for
the most part and making plays when those opportunities presented.
Themselves talking about your defense, tonight this.

Speaker 22 (02:44:31):
Answer is not gonna be quite as great as you'd.
Expect waverley has some very nice, athletes and, yes as
you just, said.

Speaker 3 (02:44:40):
You at this level of high.

Speaker 22 (02:44:42):
School, football you don't always see teams that can proficiently
throw it as well and have as many nice receivers
as they, have so it is hard to. Replicate and
even when you do tell the, players sometimes you get
on the field and it's a whole nother. Speed we
got bailed out on some drops. Tonight we got bailed
out on some. Things we were in the perfect place
on some. Things SO i, mean it's it's you, know
it's that's that's that's part of. Football we did some

(02:45:04):
really good, things don't get me, wrong ain't all. Bad
but at the same, time, defensively there's there's gonna be
some areas that we can definitely work to get, better you.
Know and the guys know, that they know that they're
always looking to get. Better that's what we talk about
all the, time so they'll be excited, to you, know
get back in the lab and try to fix the.

Speaker 3 (02:45:18):
Things but we saw some areas that we didn't necessarily
like on the defense side of the.

Speaker 2 (02:45:21):
Wall, well, coach a great win, tonight enjoy this one,
tonight and Then i'm sure tomorrow you'll start ripping For
Amanda Clear creek and ready to go go for another.

Speaker 22 (02:45:30):
Week i'm gonna go get my all with those those
jvs tomorrow At waverley and then, correct, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (02:45:35):
We we right Onto Amanda ingrat's.

Speaker 1 (02:45:38):
Coach all, right hopefully we'll be able to get now
Coach crabtree to come down and do a quick interview With.
Andrew but that was the victorious COACH. Uh dylan ware
is As Coach crabtree makes his way down TO Uh
andrew to do the. Interview, well remind you next week

(02:46:00):
we are at West Fall High school with The Circleville
tigers and the West Fall.

Speaker 3 (02:46:05):
Mustangs now back down to And.

Speaker 2 (02:46:08):
I'm here With Coach crabtree Of. Waverley coach tough night.
Tonight you, KNOW i Thought Zane TRACE's physicality gave you.
Problems Bryce johnson's obviously a really tough kid to bring.
Down but your young, TEAM i thought offensively you. Did
you had some, Moments it just we weren't able to
piece those together. Consistently talk about how you get the

(02:46:32):
guys to grow from having moments to seeing those results.

Speaker 15 (02:46:36):
Consistently, YEAH i, mean obviously we kind of couldn't get
out our way own way. Sometime you, know we do
some really good stuff and then obviously make some some
talents or. Whatever but you know, again you, KNOW i
thought we we put ourselves in good positions offensively to
go make some make some big, plays and you, know
just going, forward you, KNOW i talked to him, about you,
know our biggest thing right, now we're just not doing
the little things, right the little small attention to, detail

(02:46:57):
and those are things that we just got to keep getting.
Better and, YEAH i guess you have that when some
guys it's not played a lot of varsity. Football and,
again at some point that doesn't become an excuse anymore
because we've all practiced all summer and we've been working
on those. Things but we just got to do a
better job in those areas and be more. Consistent and again,
defensively as we knew coming into this, game, obviously you,
know you give up a bunch of yards week one

(02:47:18):
and then you know you go the face two guys
that can go do the same. Thing and you, know
ultimately we felt like we had people in, position and
we felt like we had you, know kind of putting
people that need to be but you, know we're just
not finishing at the point of. Attack and obviously guys
that run hard and are big and, physical you, know
we just got we have to do a bad, job
and we just gotta keep. Working and you, know again
there's no magic answer to. That you, know like you,

(02:47:39):
said you, know a little bit of, youth a little
bit of you, know not as physical as we need to,
be and and, uh you, know that's just we're gonna
have to keep working at.

Speaker 2 (02:47:46):
It, Uh Coach Gunnor myers did some really nice things
throwing the football. Tonight. Uh Hes nelson is a is
just a dynamic. PLAYMAKER i Thought Trey perry gave you
some really good things. TONIGHT i thought it made some
really good.

Speaker 15 (02:47:58):
PLACE i, mean that's the kid we've been waiting to
kind of see that happen.

Speaker 16 (02:48:01):
To so it's very nice to see.

Speaker 15 (02:48:02):
It we know that's what he's very capable of, doing
and so maybe this is a good step forward for
him because obviously from a matchup, standpoint you, know he's
six or four work and runs really fast and and,
uh you, know he's getting more consistent with catching the.

Speaker 16 (02:48:14):
Football so that's just gonna make us better in the long.

Speaker 2 (02:48:17):
Run, Absolutely coach is a team that probably always was
going to be better at the end of the season
than you were at the beginning of the. Season another
tough opponent next week in The. Yodo how do you
keep confidence up as you keep?

Speaker 15 (02:48:30):
Improving, well you, know bottom line, is we know it's
not going to get any as you look at our
schedule and then when you get in our league play
and things of that. Nature but it's, just you, know
that's the. THING i, mean we just gotta believe in
what we're doing. Here we got to believe in each.
Other and bottom line, is you just go play for
each other and you just keep working and you try to.

Speaker 2 (02:48:48):
Get, better and you know that's kind of what we're
going to keep. Doing, well, coach we know you'll keep
working at. It good luck the rest of the. Way
appreciate your. Time thank, you back to, You, lou thank You.

Speaker 1 (02:48:59):
Andrew and again thanks to both coaches for coming and
doing their. INTERVIEWS i know it's tough sometimes on the
losing end of, that but we appreciate Coach crabtree and
wish them the best of luck as their season goes.

(02:54:36):
at ten twenty four to go in the first. Quarter
at eight eighteen to go in the first, quarter it
was a seventeen yard pass From Gunner myers To Briar
BArch that tied the score at seven to seven with
a good extra. Point Then Zane tray scored again with

eleven to go that was a fifteen yard run By Jayden.
Higgins the extra point was no. Good it stood at
twenty to seven as we. Go in the second, quarter
there were three touchdown runs By Bryce, johnson one of
fifty six, yards one of three, yards and one of

(02:55:21):
forty seven. Yards those all led up to a forty
to seven half time score and Again Bryce johnson with
four touchdowns there in the first.

Speaker 1 (02:55:32):
Half third, Quarter Zane trace came out and they did
not score in their first, possession but The Waverley tigers
were back at their two yard line to start their
first possession of second. Half that's Where Blake brower tackled

Speaker 3 (02:56:14):
Perry the point after was no good. On our final
score was forty nine to. Thirteen. Andrews some stats on tonight's.

Speaker 2 (02:56:21):
Games, yeah For Zane, trace it was all done on the.
Ground they were zero for three passing. Rushing they had
thirty one carries for three hundred and twenty, yards a
little over ten yards per. Carry Bryce johnson led the
way there thirteen carries two hundred and fifteen yards and five.
Touchdowns Jayden higgins with nine carries for forty two yards

(02:56:43):
and a, touchdown And gunner McCollough with five carries for
fifty six yards and a touchdown For. Waverley you know
some things that you can build. ON i Think Gunnar
myers finished seventeen of thirty one for two hundred and
fifty two yards. Rushing they just couldn't really sustain much
of an. Attack they had twenty nine carries for ninety one.

(02:57:05):
Yards kennison led the way there with fifty six yards,
receiving Has nelson five receptions for eighty two yards And
Trey perry had six receptions for one hundred and fourteen
yards for The.

Speaker 3 (02:57:19):
Tiers, Well, andrew this A trace team is for. Real.

Speaker 1 (02:57:23):
Yeah we saw the score in week, one we saw
in person in week. Two, yeah and this is a
team that's going to be reckoned with here as we
go through THE.

Speaker 2 (02:57:32):
SVC i think, SO i think they're a team, that
because of what they can do on the, ground they're
gonna put themselves in position to win every time they
step on the. Field so it's a team THAT i
think is going to be tough to beat if you're
below them in the standings because of the way they
can just dominate the line of. Scrimmage and if there's a,
team maybe like In Yun yoda that's better than them,

(02:57:54):
overall maybe a little more depth of, talent you still
have to try to slow down the running, attack Particular Bryce,
johnson and that's way easier said than.

Speaker 1 (02:58:03):
Done and again those two, Teams Zane tray stays here
and plays at home Against Amanda clearkreek next, week and
The Waverley tigers go on the road again to face.

Speaker 3 (02:58:13):
A Tough unioto.

Speaker 1 (02:58:14):
Team will you AND i will be up In Pickaway
county for a game against Our Westfall mustangs against The
Circle Well. Tigers both teams lead in the fourth quarter
right now thirty five to. Twenty so it looks like
it's going to be a game where you're gonna have
two two and oero teams clashing In Pickaway county and

(02:58:34):
that's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (02:58:35):
Exciting, THAY i think it'll be. Fun AND i think
for both, teams they're trying to rebuild a little bit
from where they have. Been and so for one of
those teams to end next week at three and, ohero
it's really gonna be a chance to build momentum as
they really get going into the.

Speaker 8 (02:58:51):
Season.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
