hit the game site for today's pregame show on ninety
four Country.

Hello and welcome to Adena High School, host of tonight's
Hernstein Hyundai SVC Girls game of the Week here between
the Adena Warriors and the Uniota Shermans. I'm Chris, posted
alongside my father tonight coach Lou Postage coach short drive
for us. It's good to be.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Here, it sure is. It was a nice sunny day outside.
It's still kind of cold out there, but it's good
heading in the right direction. And that's the same thing
here with both these basketball teams heading in the right
direction towards the end of the year. And come next
Sunday we're gonna have tournament draw so that time of
the year is also coming around. But tonight we've got

a good match up here, probably the two best teams
in the league over the last four or five years.
And right now it's Unyoto's league as they have undefeated
coming into tonight's game and Adena has three league losses.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Like you said, this is team's number one and two
in the SBC. Adena tied at number two with Piked
in Adena. The home team comes in with a record
of eleven and five, seven and three in the SBC
coach by coach Andrew Day, who just picked up his
career win one hundred this week. U Nyoda undefeated in

the league at eight to no, like coach said, and
eleven and four overall, winners of four of their last five.
What are we in store for tonight's matchup?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Well, I think if you're U Niyota, you're going to
see an aggressive defense continue as that is what they
are known for. They're going to want to score in
bunches and that happens off of their defense. For Adena,
what you've got to see out of them here tonight
is they have got to take care of the basketball.
They cannot afford to go on a run where they

turned the ball over six or seven times in a
row and give up easy buckets for Uniodo. So I'm
tigon to coach Andrew Day before the game, he talked
about how we have got to value each of our
possessions on the offensive end. If they do that, they
have the capability of scoring. And I think one of
the big things that really comes into play in this

game is the inside presidence of Corinday. She has really
improved from last year to this year and the offensive
part of her game inside and really, when you look
at Unioto, they are very very athletic, don't get me wrong,
but inside presence is something that they lack. And I
think if you're a Dina, you try to maybe look

to that and see what type of matchup happens inside
with Corin Day by the Uniodo Lady Sherman's, it's.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That time of year where you have a lot of
cancelations and you know, fridgid temperatures this week. But this
is the fourth game in the last week for both
of these teams. Last time out for the Unioda Sherman's
it was a sixty six thirty win over Huntington, Maya
Hamilton leading them into scoring with twenty four points, followed
by Miley Smith's was seventeen here Beard was sixteen. A

lot of points scored by this Unioda offense.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, and again you look at those three girls, Beard,
Hamilton and Smith, they can really score. Each one of
those girls can go twenty plus at any time pretty
much in any game. So that's where their main scoring
comes from. But don't forget about Magnolia Holbert. She can
really shoot the ball. And if they Dina tries to
take away some of the main offensive cogs of Uniota,

look to Hobert. And also you could see maybe somebody
like a Charlotte Dennis stepping in another freshman that plays
a lot of minutes for this Unioto's team.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Last game for the Lady Warriors was on Wednesday night.
It was a thirty six to twenty two win over
Paint Valley. Leading scorer in that game Marley Halcomb, who
really is the motor for this Adena offense.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
And she's one of the elite scorers in our league.
And she's only a sophomore average and I believe above
fifteen points a game. But if she's able to get
on fire early in the game, that bodes well for
a Dina Because we saw last night Payt Valley got
off to a big start against Zane Trace Boys and

they were able to hang in there, but Zane Trace
ended up pulling away. For aDNA to have any chance
in this game here tonight, they have got to stay
in it early. The longer they stay in it, the
better it's going to be for them. Because really, when
you Look at Unioda, They're not as deep as they
have been. There's gonna be some girls that maybe be

forced into some action that they're not used to. And
that's your Dina, that's what you hope for.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Look at tournament seating right now, Adina sitting at seventh
place in Division five of the Southeast District, un Yota
third place in Division three Southeast District. You know those
computer points end in a week, so only looks like
this game and one more game for Adina and then
two more games after this for you and Yoda to

affect their seating. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Again, talking to both coaches, a lot of still misunderstanding
or miss not understanding how the whole process works. That
gets locked in next Friday night. So for girls, they
normally play on Saturday league games, so those next Saturday
league games will not count in that. So where you
go is going to be based off of all the

(05:30):
games leading up to next Friday. And again, it's one
of those things, as I've talked to many put coaches
and other people around, why can't you wait till the
end of the season?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Football does it?

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You know you don't start playing games right away, So
why can't we just wait till the end of the season,
put them on the bracket then and go. You know,
today's technology, you can find tape, you can find video
on different teams that you may be playing. That is
not the difficult part as far as coaching goes. So
I would like to see that change as well as
some other changes, but for some reason they have never

called me to ask me those questions.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
A similar system to football, but not exactly the same,
as it only takes into account your opponents winning percentage,
your opponent's opponents winning percentage as well as yours. When
you look at those districts, Portsmouth leads Adena's district with
point seven eighty six, Marriette point seven three to two.

(06:27):
Doesn't look like either of these teams are going to
catch those top teams in their districts, but they can
kind of tell where they're going to go.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, and again U Nyioto is a team where their
district is only going to take them to the semi finals.
Their district final is going to be against an East
District team. So that's another thing that coach Miller and
I were scratching our head over down there as we
were talking about some of this stuff. But again, tonight's
game is what we need to focus on here, and

again this is going to be a good girls basketball
tilt here in the Siota Valley and again the two
top teams in the league here tonight at a Diena
High School.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
There's a full slate of SBC girls action tonight. One
game already in the books, Huntington coming out victorious over
the Southeastern Lady Panthers at a score of forty seven
to twenty five. Elsewhere in the league, West Fall takes
on Paint Valley and Zane Trace takes on Piked. In
another game in our area, Chilicothy taking up taking on

green Up County. I believe that's West Virginia at home tonight.
That game is on.

game there for Chillicothe. And actually I think it's Greenup Kentucky, Kentucky. Yeah, Kentucky.

action just about to get underway. We'll go over to
coach and look at some starting lineups.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah, for the visitors Uni Yoto, they will start a
junior five to sixth junior, Magnolia Holbert. Also starting is
number three Charlotte Dennis, a five to eleven freshman, A
five to six freshman, Kite. What did we say? How
do we say? Pronounce that?

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Kiera Kiera Beard?

Speaker 3 (10:39):
And also starting for U Nioto is Maya Hamilton, a
five eight senior, and Miley Smith, a five to ten junior.
We'll listen now to the national anthem and again going

over the lineup bear for Unioto it is Holbert, Dennis, Beard,
Hamilton and Smith. For the home team, the Adena Warriors,
they will be starting a five to seven sophomore Marley Holcomb,
a five six sophomore, Ava Farrell, a five to eight junior,

j C. Smith, a five to eight senior, Cameron Sours
and five eleven senior Corinne Day. So again for Adena
it is Halcombe, Farrell, that's Ava Farrell, Smith, Sours and Day.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Lookay, these teams Offensively, Adena comes in averaging forty two
point six points a game defensively only giving up thirty
six point four. That's a differential plus six u Nyoda,
it is a whopping sixty eight point one point game
only giving up forty three point one points per game
and a difference of plus twenty five. What is it

(13:07):
for Adena that takes that down for them to get
a win?

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Yeah, again, taking care of the basketball number one first
and foremost. You've got to be able to do that.
If you're able to take care of the basketball, that
limits the quick offense of Uniodo where they get a
majority of their points off of turnovers from their pressure
they can put on teams. And as I said, they're
not real big, but Uniodo is very athletic and they

can really get over or get the ball turned over
by other teams.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Miley Smith comes in averaging twenty eight point two points
per game that is first in the SPC scoring and
for Adena Marley Halcom fifteen point nine points per game
that's fourth in the league. For each team, they're both,
they're going to be looking to get both of those
girls going quick.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
They sure are. And again the Elite scorers in the league.
We see here tonight the three from un and Marley.
Howcome those four are probably I believe those four are
the top four in the league as far as points
per game, and for one team to have three of them,
it's pretty special.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Tip off moments away here at Adena High School. It
is Adena and the home whites blue coloring, dark blue
letters with the light blue trim. Uniyoda and their road
dark gray uniforms, purple lettering with a white outline. I
gotta say the white outline is great. Yes, as you
can see those numbers that purple one gray. I don't

know if we would have been able to see it.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, we've seen some uniforms here this year in this
like dark gray type that there's been some teams that
have navy blue with it with no white, and boy,
you can barely get those numbers.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
They and Smith tip it away and tip goes to
un Yoda controlled there by Hulbert. Hulbert picked up by J. C.
Smith looking for Hamilton on the wing. That pass goes
out of bounds at a be a turnover.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Unioda's yeah, that was an unforced term for Unioda. They
get the uh tip and unable to do anything with
right there. Uniyoda or adena ball. J. C.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Smith across the timeline for the Warriors, gets it to
Hawtham on the wing, looking down low for day Day
guarded by Dennis, loses it, controls it, gets it to Sours.
Surs driving down in the lane, dumps it down to
Farrell off her leg loose ball tipped and control there
by Farrell. Farrell kicks it out to Halkeme. Holkeme's gonna
try three in the corner of that shot draws front
eye or no good rebound goes to a Dina. J. C.

Smith up top, over to Halcombe, back up to Smith,
setting up the Warrior offense. Smith up top picked up
by Holbert.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Then if you're a Dina, you want this long offensive
possession here, you got a second chance at it after
that three point miss.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Halcome driving kicks it to Farrell. Farrell dribbles atop the
key over to Sours Smith on the wing, picked up
by Smith of Unyoda. Sours drives her layup. No good
rebound goes to Hamilton.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yeah, that was a nice drive. Unfortunately she wasn't able
to get it in.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Smith over to Hamilton's Hamilton, looking to drive, kicks it
out to Beer Beard driving kicks it to Dennis. Dennis
cross court to j C. To Miley Smith. Miley picked
up there by her cousin Jac's coming off with Dennis screen.
Smith backs it out, looking to drive, gets in the lane,
float shot up, no good rebound controlled thereby Holcome, Alcome

Yeah, this is a game where if it's not gonna
be called tight like that, that's a good advantage.

A Dina there, welcome over to Farrell. Farrell looking to drive,
picks up her dribble, gets a cross court to j C.
Smith at the fifteen foot line, picks up her dribble
and hands it to Farrell. Farrell worked on by Beard,
cross court to hal Come. Holcome tries a three from
the corner. That's back iron, no good rebound goes to
Dennis of Uniota.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Quickly the other way comes Unioda.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Hamilton dribbles it off. It looked like Halcomb's foot. Yes,
and they'll stay here with un Yoda.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
So offensive possession for a Dina there. They've gotten two
three point shots there by how Comb, and she's been
open on those two three She just hadn't been able
to make them. But if that continues, watch.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Out Dennis in the corner for three. That's good, Charlotte.
Dennis breaks the zero zero tie and it is three
nothing Uni Yoda.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, that was a good shot there. She I wasn't
ready for that. I didn't realize she could step out
like that. But that was a wonderful shot there by Dennis.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Dennis, one of two freshmen in the starting lineup for
the Shermans. Hel come on the wing downloaded day day
post move, I made good, good, strong move there by
trend day.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
Exactly what I talked about early in the game. They
got to get her to ball. She's being guarded by
Dennis quickly.

The other way.

Miley Smith for three and that's good. Well, we know
Miley can make those. That is a wonderful shot quickly
down the four, finding Smith.

Quickly the other way. Now the Warriors holcme fifteen foot
are no good rebound on this tipped and controlled there
by the Shermans. Looked like two Warriors went up for
it and it ended up in the hands of the
Shermans and Miley Smith the other way, except Dribble gets
out to Holbert Hulbert for three, and that's good Magnolia.
Olbert makes it nine to Unioda leave five minutes left

Yeah, three separate girls have made threes there for U Niodo.

Loose ball was we recall a kicking violation on aDNA,
so it'll be Unioda basketball.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
So there's a turnover there by the pressure from u Niyodo.
But again, as I said, three separate girls have made
three pointers. We know the other two can shoot threes
as well. So this Unioda team, you've got to guard
all parts of the floor. Beard coming off of Smith's
screen looks, get it to Smith, tipped and loose ball
is controlled there by Miley Smith and she's gonna back

it out and set up the Sherman offense.

Over to Holbert. Olbert coming off a Dentnis screen looks
getting the paint, gets down low off the block, and
that's good Magnolia. Holbert took five points.

She does a good job of handling the basketball. She's

You have a Farrell the other way, gets it into
the lane, kicks it out, stolen away there by Charlotte
Dennis quickly up to Hamilton. Hamilton lay up no good

Again, that's that's where they're going to be able to

Yeah, there's not a whole lot of offensive possession time

Yeah, unfortunately we haven't seen one of Holcomb's shots go

found no good rebound by Miley Smith quickly up to Dennis.

Smith the inbound gets it the Holcum on the block

grin Day sours across the court to J. C. Smith

Yeah, a nice mood there. Just couldn't finish it, but
again showed her a little quickness.

Smith pulls up for three on the wing and that's good.
Miley Smith can really score the basketball. Yeah, you can
almost anticipate it. You could see her gearing up for
that pull up about five steps away. Live Farrell on
the wing looking to drive, gets cut off there and
kicks it out to how come over to Smith. Smith
picked up by Hamilton coach Day calling out the Adena offense.

Farrell on the wing helcome welcome up to Farrell. Farrell
looking to drive, looks for a backdoor, keeps it, gives
it to Smith. Smith driving to the plank and picks
up her dribble on the block and gets it to
sour salers and try fifteen foot or that draws back
iron and quickly the other way goes Miley Smith. No
one around her, and Smith puts it in for two.

She just took that rebound and started on a sprint
to the other end and the easy two there. We

coming out of the time out to get an easy
bucket and then to steal. But when you look at
the numbers, Adena was a eleven of thirty there in
that first half. They were seven of fifteen, much better
shooting there in the second quarter, but thirty seven percent overall,

quarter they did not have the same intense date as

in the fourth quarter that were really big for U Niyoto.
But again it was a struggle offensively for them. And
the reason why is a Deena for the most part
took care of the basketball and did not give them
their easy opportunities at scoring on the other end. So
you got to get half off to a Dina probably
looking like they may not come out of here with
a win, but I think they learned a lot about

themselves as they get ready to move forward, especially in
the tournament. This is probably a team that is pressure wise,
the most pressure you're going to see. And if you
can handle the pressure of Unioda and get quality offensive
possessions and get scoring like they got out of how
come and day, they're going to go well deep in

have multiple scores and people that can step up when

a dandy Unioda coming out on top sixty two fifty
six and you Hada moves to twelve and four overall,
nine and zero in the SVC. Adina falls to eleven
and six, seven and four in the SVC. We'll go
over to coach and look at some stats from tonight's contest.

Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
Yeah and again, And this is one of the contexts
where I think Uniyoda really came out of the gate
like they normally do. They were up twenty five to
eight after the first quarter, but from that point forward
Adena outscored them forty eight to thirty seven the rest
of the way and really helped by that second quarter
where they went on a seven over run to end

(01:28:19):
that quarter, but Unyoto never relinquished the lead. I think
Adina got as close as four in the fourth quarter,
but again Uniota was able to hold on here tonight
and win by six. Looking at the numbers shooting wise
for Adena, they were twenty two of fifty forty four percent.
They were eight of eighteen from beyond the arc forty

(01:28:41):
four percent, and there were four or five from the
free throw line for eighty percent. Now, the thing about Adena,
they only had fifteen total turnovers. Now against a team
like Unioda, that's probably the lowest amount of turnovers a
U Niyodo team probably has got all year. They're probably
used to getting over twenty plus. But Adina had had
ten of those fifteen in the second half, and I

(01:29:03):
think that's where Unioda was able to take advantage. Looking
at Uni Yoda, they were twenty four forty seven fifty
six of twenty from beyond the arc thirty percent, seven
of eleven from the free throw line sixty four percent.
They only had eight turnovers on the night. But a
stat that stands out to me for Unioda they were
only two of sixteen from the three point land from

(01:29:23):
the second quarter on, so they did not shoot the
ball deep well and they were not able to get
a lot of transition points in that time period, and
I think that's what really helped get aDNA going there
in those second through fourth quarter and allowed them to
get closer and closer to UNIODA. We're going to have

(01:29:44):
UNIODA coach Jeff Miller with us here since we get
the headsets on. Make sure he can hear us and
we'll be ready to go. All right, Coach Miller, congrats
on the victory here tonight. But you started off well
five to eight. After the first quarter, you guys were
up and you were getting your offensive possessions, getting some steals,

and everything was going well. You shot the ball extremely
well from the three point line early on. But it
was from that second quarter on that Adena really did
some things that I thought did not give you those
quick opportunities Offensively, they were able to break your pressure
initially and get some good quality offensive possessions.

Speaker 19 (01:30:23):
Honestly, Adena probably outplayed us for twenty four minutes of
that game. Thankfully, you know, we had built that lead
in the first quarter. I think it was one of
those situations that we're still going to have to figure
out how to You know, when you get a double
digit lead in the first quarter, that doesn't mean the
game's over. And you know, I just told the girls

(01:30:45):
in there, I said, you know, that's one thing we've
got to learn is when you have that lead, you
don't turn around and start playing a different style or
worrying about yourself. It's still you mean, it's still got
to be a team situation.

Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
So that was one thing.

Speaker 19 (01:31:01):
I mean, honestly, I wasn't very pleased after the first quarter.
But again, it's it's a learning you know, this this
is all about learning. I told him, if you can
learn something from it, then I guess it's a positive.

Speaker 3 (01:31:11):
Yeah. And again, you you really have two freshmen out
there starting for you play a lot of minutes. And
again this was the first time through a varsity schedule
for him, playing a lot of games. But I thought
your freshman played well tonight. I especially was mentioning in him.
Dennis had two big buckets for you there in the
fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:31:29):
And you know, Charlotte's been in a kid who the
scoring piece has has come along a little bit slower
than probably what she wants. But you know, we've talked
to her about that, that this whole thing's a process
and offense at the varsity level, I think it's going
to take her a little bit longer than the defensive
part is. But yeah, she had you know, two big baskets.
You know, they're late in the game when was tight.

(01:31:50):
So you know, that's hopefully that's a confidence booster for
her and she can kind of run with that.

Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
Coach I thought, when you look at your team, you
really get a lot off of your defense. And I
thought Adina for the most part that first half they
only had five turnovers is what I had. Second half
they had ten. But fifteen turnovers to a team like you,
I think is really good for a Dina. I don't know.
You know, if you look at some stats, you probably
get a lot more than that in games. And that

(01:32:15):
helped your offense.

Speaker 19 (01:32:16):
Oh oh yeah, I mean fifteen. You know, honestly, we're
usually we're turning someone over. Probably, I don't know what
our average is, but I'm going to stay in the
mid twenties probably, So you know, Adina did a nice
job of handling that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
And again, I don't think we.

Speaker 19 (01:32:33):
Did a very good job of the same intensity after
that first quarter that you know, we didn't carry that
for the rest of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
And again one of those things was you weren't getting
those opportunities in transition, so you were relying on your
half court offense. And from the second quarter on, I said,
you shot the ball threes really good in the first quarter,
two of sixteen from beyond the ark. From the second
through fourth quarter, didn't shoot the ball extremely well long range.

Speaker 19 (01:32:57):
Yeah, and I thought a few of those, you know,
I mean, honestly, I would be okay, I'm okay. I'm
one of those coaches. You might something crazy, but if
you're two of sixteen, but at sixteen, good looks, okay.
We had it off night. I felt like a lot
of those shots were rushed. I didn't think they were
high percentage shots. They didn't come within the offense. It

(01:33:18):
wasn't after six or seven kids touched the ball and
it's getting reversed and things like that.

Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
I thought they were just quick threes.

Speaker 19 (01:33:24):
And so you know, when you're missing quick threes like that,
and in the first quarter, if you're taking quick threes
and they're going down, kudos to us, do you I
mean we're shoot, but you got to understand that. You know,
when you're not, we're not hitting those shots. Hey, let's
move the ball around. Let's get a high percentage shot
right now.

Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
So and one of the things I'd mentioned early in
the game was the Adena team. I thought Corinde, she
she's an inside player that I think have really improved offensively.
And I said, that's one thing I think Adena can
hurt you, Nioda on going forward playing girls maybe that
are good inside, like a Krin day. What's one of
those things that you do you have to really up

(01:33:59):
your temper or a pressure from the top or where
does that come into play well?

Speaker 19 (01:34:04):
And honestly, we've we have faced several kids throughout it,
especially our non league schedule where we face some size
and size and strength gives us a lot of problems.
So we've had to make some adjustments as far as
you know. Obviously, one counter to that is, hey, up tempo,
let's get it the rat race where the pace, you know,
the pace is fast and it's not just a walk
it up pounded in. Our Other thing is there's times

(01:34:26):
where we've had to go down and double the post
just because we don't have the size and strength. But
you know, I mean, you've got Marley haw come out
there that shoots the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Well.

Speaker 19 (01:34:35):
The Pharaoh kids can shoot, so you know, then you've
got to be careful of who are you leaving to
go double the post? And then you know, and then
obviously Karent has the ability to step out and not
down the shots too.

So well, coach, a great job tonight. As you said,
it was a learning experience. You didn't play well, but
you come out with a win. I believe this also
gives you a share of the league title at least.
I know we have some makeup games to throw in there.
But again, you guys are still undefeated in the league. I
think this is too years. You haven't lost a game.
I think the last game you lost was maybe to
a Diena a couple of years ago in the league.

of that quarter and things, we're going pretty much what
many people thought. They were getting some opportunities offensively in transition.
You and I talked about before the game, you've got
to take advantage or you've got to take care of
the basketball. I thought you did that for the most part.
They were getting a lot of transition, just pushing the
ball up the court quickly. From that point forward, I

think you guys really took control of the game and
played exceptional well we did.

Speaker 20 (01:35:59):
And you know, I thought our girls did a great
job of responding to the run that they went on.

At the beginning of the game.

You know, when they're when they're hitting shots from everywhere,
everything's going in, you know, Charlotte Dennis is stepping out
and hitting threes, you know, and it's coming from everywhere.

Easily feel like, well, this isn't our night. But our
girls never back down. They never went away. They they
just kind of hung around and kept fighting and kept
fighting and and and you're right, you know, over the
last three quarters, we played really really well.

Yeah, And and to do that to a team like
them is no small feet. So you know, one thing
we talked about with the girls in the locker room is,
you know, number one, we're proud of the fight, but
number two, they have to own the fact now that
if they can go compete against Uniota like that, then
there's no excuse any night. Every night they should every

night we step on the practice floor and step on
the floor for a game in the film room, you
got to be locked in because this is what this
team is capable of.

I thought, offensively, you breaking their initial pressure and then
getting some advantages. You really worked that well. And scoring wise,
you had two girls that did the majority of the scoring.
You know, you had how Come with twenty nine and
Corine with twenty three. But I thought jc's ball handling
and getting the ball and distributing the ball, and even

(01:37:32):
the Pharaoh girls did a great job in sours. They
all did a wonderful job of getting the ball where
it needed to be. And I thought they were all
able to see that tonight.

Speaker 20 (01:37:40):
Yeah, absolutely, And that's something that killed us the last
time was you know, has a really nice half court
trap and we just kind of threw it everywhere last time.
So the last two days we've really worked on you know,
cutting back to the basketball, making yourself available, communicating with
your teammates. And I thought we did that so well.
And yeah, I mean all sorts of Jason Smith against

(01:38:01):
any kind of pressure. It's hard to press us because
she's so good at beating her man and taking care
of the basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:38:09):
So uh, yeah, I thought all of our girls did
a really good job. I thought early in the game,
Karin did a great job of scoring for you. Chris
and I talked about before the game. I thought, that's
a place where you guys could really hurt them, and
you did exactly that. And that shows to me and
a lot of people the leaps that she has made
from last year to this year on the offensive end,
a lot of those moves she wasn't able to make

(01:38:31):
last year. And I know, you as a coach and
you obviously as a parent as well, I have got
to be proud of her.

You know, she was probably our seventh or eighth man
last year. You know, she played you know, spot minutes
for us, and all along her basketball career, she's never
been the go to person. She's always been a role player,
and so to see her step into that and handle
it well is really really exciting, not only has a coach,

but as as a parent.

Yeah, well, coach, you know, again a loss here tonight,
but I think a lot of positives that come out
of it. I think you've got two games next week.

know your team going forward that a lot of teams

any time any soon. You're capable of making a run

Yeah, we want to be playing our best basketball going

some work to do before we get there. I think
we have five games left, so we got to continue
to get better. But I really like where we are
right now and where we're capable of getting well.
