Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is high school basketball on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Now let's head the game site for today's pregame show
on ninety four Country.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Well, pleasant, good evening to you. Welcome to Uniodo High
Schools who gets set for an SVC matchup here between
the Shermans and the Piked In Red Streaks along with
Sydney Newsom back in studio my partner Loup Postage. I'm
Jacob Wise, glad to have you with us for Hernstein
Hundai coverage of the SVC and a at least a
share of a league title on the line here tonight
Unioda coming off that big win last week against Zane
(00:36):
Trace at Zane Trace and that kept Zane Trace from
a chance to win the league outright. Instead, Uniota is
in the driver's seat and win tonight gets them a
share and gives them an opportunity then to go win
an outright next Saturday when they play that makeup game
at Paint Valley and standing on their way tonight the
Piked In Red Streaks, who have struggled a bit this
(00:57):
year five and fifteen overall, but they have one of
the best big guys in the.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
League, Lou They sure do. And again the team that's
struggled but also has played a lot of teams well,
a lot of good teams. Well, so this is a
team you cannot just come in here and expect to win. Now,
we've seen some of the scores that Unioda has had,
and you know, we just think to ourselves, wow, how
(01:21):
did that happen? We haven't seen that every game we've
been to. Maybe it's us, but every game that we've
been to, Uniota has played really well and defensively has
just been a star wart. But tonight it's going to
be something a little different with the big guy underneath
that poses that threat. Probably the best big guy overall
(01:43):
big guy in the league, I think as far as scoring, talent, footwork,
and all kinds of things like that. But again, this
pikeding team is no slouts by no means. This Unioda
team and being a senior night, I think that helps
and keeping their focus.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, absolutely, you Toyota recognizing the senior cheerleaders and the
senior basketball players before the game here tonight, of course
Blake Coops and KB Perkins and Caden cuttwright, but also
recognizing Jude Little who should have been a senior should
have been graduating. Obviously, life cut short a few years ago.
KB Perkins, his friend wearing number two in his honor
(02:20):
this year, was out there with his family along with
some of the other players, and I think Isaac was
out there as well. Former really good Uni Yoda player
in his own right. Very touching moment here at Uni
Yoda to recognize him. They've had the banner on the
wall since that happened a few years ago. It's cool
that he has not been forgotten here and a cool
(02:43):
moment that, at least in spirit, he got to be
here at senior night for a big one here for
his UNIODA Sherman's Matt Combs, his first season here as
the head coach at Uni Yodo has put together lou
a bit of a monster obviously. You know, he's kind
of deflected some of the credit that there's a lot
(03:04):
of things with this. You need a team that you
can't coach. It's athleticism, it is speed, it's it's kind
of a ferociousness as well, and you mentioned it kind
of it started to the games that we've seen the
least and that's really all we can go off of.
But they just come out, they swarm you right from
the jump and they score in a hurry. But also
on the defensive end, they just make you uncomfortable all
(03:26):
the time and all over the floor.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
And again go back to Benton County days, that's what
his teams did down there. Defense has always been a
big part of his program and he's brought that here
to you, Niodo and every game we've seen him play,
that defense is something that just stands out. All the
guards are really good on the ball. Defenders they probably
have the best two and Zika Fusen cut right. They
(03:49):
can guard anyone at anywhere, and again you can't get
around them because their first step defensively is always ver good.
Plus they have a knack of knowing where that ball
is going to go. And Cayden cutting right, and we
saw it on the football field too with the interceptions
he's had. That knack he has of just knowing how
to get to the ball and get it stolen is phenomenal.
(04:10):
But also inside KB Perkins we talked about him last Friday,
we thought that was the key to the game for
him to play real well defensively and also offensively, and
he has done a really good job as well.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, and KB talked about him down low. You know,
you may not see him score a point, but he'll
get fifteen rebounds, and he'll distribute when he's down low
and draw some traffic. He may score fifteen points, but
he's probably still going to get you, you know, eight
to ten rebounds. He does a lot of things that
don't necessarily show up in the score sheet, but you
ask anybody who's watched him on tape, they'll tell you
(04:44):
he's a key factor to way this Uni Yoda team plays.
And just to kind of speak to the athleticism of
this team, You've got KB who's going to go play
college baseball at Finley. You have play Coops is gonna
go play college football at Morehead State. And he got
a whole bunch of other guys that are multi sport
athletes that are all conference you know, mentionable players in
(05:07):
various other sports, and they all happen to play basketball
as well. You know, maybe it's not their main sport.
For that athleticism translates, and boy do they play hard.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
And let's not forget the guy probably makes everything run,
Blake Fitch. I mean, he's done a great job in
point guard, which he started and played as a freshman.
Now he's a junior and boy he just does everything
well for this team. So yeah, this Unioto team is
you know, prime to win a league title. Here tonight
to share, I'm really looking forward to the matchup inside though.
(05:38):
I want to see how Perkins and the big guy
for Biked and bo Henry, how that battle goes on
the inside tonight.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Well, bo Henry sixty six. He had fifteen in the
first meeting between these two teams back on January third,
that was down in Piked, and he had fifteen of
the forty for the Red Streaks. That was a seventy
six forty win for the Shermans. And you know, we
can kind of you mentioned but before we got on
the air here look back at the game plan for
the Shermans from last week in that game against Saint Trace.
(06:11):
They had some guys with some size advantage and they
just really never let that size be a factor in
that game. And the pikeding team that doesn't necessarily have
the same firepower around it that Zane Trace had, So
you know, you can almost look at that game plan
and say, hey, we're going to just play our normal
game and see if you can keep up with us.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, bottle that up and bring that every night.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Well, we are getting close here to the opening tip.
We'll take a quick break. We'll come back with the
starting lineups and the opening tip here between the unit
of the Shermans and the piked in red Streaks. Right
after this, it's Hernstein Hundai coverage of the SVC on
ninety four Country.
Speaker 4 (06:47):

Approaching tip off time here at Uniodo as the Sherman's
coming in at sixteen and three, eleven one and one
occupying the top spot in the SVC hosts the piked
In Red Streaks who are five and fifteen and four
and nine in the Side of Valley Conference. Jacob liies
with you along with lou Postage Sidney Newsome back in
studio tonight. Let's have a look at the starting lineups
(09:16):
for tonight for Piked and it's our projected lineup here
Luke Gullion, a six foot junior forward, along with Mason Thacker,
a five foot six senior, Chase Johnson, a five foot
eleven junior, Trevin Shanks a five to ten junior, and
of course the six to sixth junior Bo Henry for
the Red Streaks, who wear their red jerseys and shorts
tonight with the piked In arched across the top of
(09:40):
the number in gray with the white outline gray numbers
front and back for the Red Streaks, and again it'll
be Goullian, Thacker, Johnson, Shanks and Henry for the Pike
in Red Streaks tonight and their head coach Kyle Miller
for the Union Sherman's tonight and head coach Matt Combs.
It'll be the usual suspects here tonight. Blake Coops six
(10:02):
foot one senior averaging twelve points per game. He had
thirteen against Piked in the first time around, along with
the six to five senior KB Perkins averaging over seven
points seven rebounds per game this season. The six foot
junior Blake Fitch averaging fourteen points per game third year,
is the starting point guard for this Sherman's team, and
he's one of the best in the SVC. Elsewhere, it's
(10:25):
Caden Cutwright. We talked about him, another senior five to
ten senior averaging eleven points per game. He had eighteen
and four steals using that quickness against Piked in the
last time around. He led all scores in that win
over Zaying Trace back on Friday with nineteen points. And
also Jackson zickafus five to ten junior averaging eight and
a half points per game. Again for the Shermans, it'll
(10:46):
be Blake Coops, KB Perkins, Blake Fitch, Caden Cutwright, Jackson,
Zikafus and the Shermans will whar they're home. White uniforms
with Unigodo across the chest in purple. It's the purple
number front and back with the gold outline, a little
purple trim around the necks and armholes of those jerseys.
Yellow stripe down the side of the shorts with the
purple on either side and around the edge of the
(11:09):
short leg there and they are ready to go here
as they began to announce the starting lineup and the cheerleaders,
they'll turn off the lights here momentarily, and all the
students section, which is pretty strong here tonight, will pull
out their cell phone flashlights and makes for a pretty
cool experience. One of my favorite starting lineup intros that
(11:31):
we've been able to experience. And some extra stuff there
in the crowd there tonight for the seniors as well.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yeah, they got little fat heads of all the senior players,
and it seems like they're like young senior players, maybe
elementary school type photos and wow, look at them.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I think a couple of those players might like for
those to be disappeared here pretty soon after this game
gets going, but sure they'll be holding them up into
the air. Is now they flip off the lights here again.
The Sherman's hosting the piked in red streaks here tonight, Lou,
I think when you talk to Uni Yodo, you know,
when they've lost games this year, and they've only lost three,
(12:14):
they have felt like it has been more about what
they have done versus what has been done against them.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yeah, and again, like I said tonight, Bean Senior night,
I think they're going to come out with a special
little extra effort. And again you had spoken so well
about Jude Little, you know, playing this game, you know,
for him and his family, who's been so much a
(12:40):
big part of this basketball program, even from the time
that we lost Jude till that's been a special thing.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
All the cheerleaders wearing special Jude Little t shirts tonight,
they've got to sing on the back where he said,
you know, what's the point in living? And if I
can't live? And those words have certainly been kind of
plastered all over the place here at Uniodo since that
happened a few years ago, and I think a lot
(13:08):
of athletes and students here have taken that to heart.
And I think the staff and faculty here as well,
very touching tribute here for Jude little here at Unioto.
But a basketball game about ready to get started. kV Perkins,
I assume will be in the center circle as he
approaches us. Over there, bo Henry will meet him. A
(13:28):
couple of tall guys there right there in the middle,
and look there you've got defensive end versus offensive tackle right.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
There you go. I'm sure unfortunately we didn't get to
see KB Perkins on the football field this year, but
I'm sure they've had some battles in the past.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
The rep steps in ball on the air, ball tipped
up and then tipped again by bo Henry, but it
goes right to cut right for uniodo. So the Shermans
will get the opening possession. Here playing down to our left,
Fitch trying to get it into Hoops nearly had it
poked away. Hoops able to corral down the left side
of the lane, turns, spins off the glass. No good,
Perkins the rebound over everyone trying to fight his way
(14:04):
to the basket miss. The first one got his rebound
and his foot back won't go as bo Henry pulls
it down for pike in and now bo Henry is
limping hard back the other way. Red Streaks with the
basketball their first possession, middle of the lane, kicking it
out now back ahead of the key left point. Now
Mason Thacker throws into the corner, trying to work baseline
with Shanks, but he turned around and his hoops cut
him off. They get it out to the wing and
(14:26):
the big guy knocks down the triple from the left point,
Henry with a three.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, that's a nice step out by him, and he's
still hampering that ankle right now. But that was a
great job.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
So you other trying to quickly get it up the floor,
cut right wide open for three in and out from
the left corner, and Henry the rebound for Pike and
who leads it three to nothing. One minute into this
one here Backer handling four of the Red Streaks and
out ball left point with it. Shanks goes down left
block working on cutright is gully in and he has
a shot blocked out of bounds. Now, that was last
(14:59):
touch on the block by the Shermans, so Piking'll keep
it up three to nothing here, Yeah, that was.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Kb Pergrims with the block. And again this is this
is favoring Piked in this uh slow pace, and then
we see Henry go out of the game. I'm sure
they're gonna get that checked out real quick.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
So damp bound pass here from Thacker under the basket,
just got it over the outreach, outstretched hand of Caden Cutwright.
I'll ball the right corner with it. Noah Ross touches
for the first time, going and open look from the
right elbow. Can't get it to go. Fetch the rebound
for the Shermans, trying to push it up the floor,
cross court passes Zika fous left block, puts it up and.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
End Uniodo was zero for four to start the game. There,
first one goes through and again from the defense to
the offense quickly three to two.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Piked in lead down to one, six point twenty left.
Your first court backer driving all the way, dumps off
Ross middle of the lane, gets to the bucket to
go on the bank shot. Noah Ross out there with
the face shield. Fitch back the other way, spin move
left block and the runner goes boy Knight's move there
from Blake Fitch.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Always under control, not out of control, and that was
a great spin move.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Well, he really plays with the pace, doesn't he Five four.
Sherman's down by a point here, five point fifty left
here this first quarter, just underway left wing with it.
Johnson drives lane and has it knocked the loose and
as he tried to bring it up from his hip
area off to dribble and Fitch knocked it out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
But he knocked it off his leg there. But again
that was a nice drive. But you saw the recovery
from you and Neoto quickly recover and get it. They
get a lot of hands on the basketball, either knock
it loose or knock it away.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Here we go, ibound passes two long ziga, Fous gets
it ahead to cut right who lays it in low
on the right. First two for cut right and it
points off the turnover and the Shermans have their first
lead at six to five.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
That's Sherman defense right.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
There, yep. And Layton Kelly who just checked in again
trying to drive the right block, going up and in
off the top of the glasses. He worked against Blake
Fitch there quickly the other way, they'll cut right and
receives the football pass lays it in low on the
right to get the two right backs.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
You cannot put your head down or you're gonna lose.
And here we go, another loose ball on the floor.
Zika fous I piked and keeps it.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
They're able to get it right back. It's Kelly and
now he has it poked away from behind it again
cut right wide open back the other way. It lay
up low on the right. Kayden cutt right has six.
It is ten to seven. Sherman's up by three with
five oh four left here first quarter, and Kyle Miller
wants a time out for piked in and LOUI got
to believe that that is related to all these quick turnovers.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Heies, yeah, and again that's what Unioto does. They sort
of lull you to sleep. You think you get around somebody.
Next thing, you know, the ball's poked away from you
and it's going the other way, and they do a
great job of looking up the floor. They do not
dribble it up. They pass it up when they get
the opportunity. And again Kyden cut right so good at
knocking the ball away and getting to the other end
(18:00):
the floor very quickly.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
All other thing to Lou we talk about the quickness
of Uni Yodo, you know, maybe against some other teams,
you see a guy who looks like they're open, but
the aggressiveness in the quickness, they're able to close those
gaps maybe quicker than you expect, and that leads to turnovers.
And with this team that leads to points the other way.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Yeah, you talking about teams being lengthy and being able
to guard. It's just the quickness.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Here with Unieodo ten seven Shermans under five minutes to
play first quarter, out of the timeout, Jace Ritchie, who
just checked in before that time out, gets it, dumps
down low down to knowing Ross who has his shot
block low on the left and it goes out of bounds.
It'll stay with piked.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
In two blocks here for KB Perkins early on.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And bound will come from Richie into the left wing,
wide open three gullion, high arching shot short off the
front of the rim. kV Perkins rebound two one oh
the other way. It'll be cutright to take it himself
and he draws the foul as the ball goes down
the hoop, a chant to the three point.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
And again it was the rebound and quick outlet by
KB Perkins. And again Zika Foo's in Cutwright so quick
getting down the floor.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
I mean it's like a fire drill. As soon as
they think that one of their teammates has the basketball,
they are headed the other way with pace.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Well, and again that comes from the recognition that, hey,
our guys underneath are going to get the rebounds. It's
going to be either Perkins, Fitch or Hoops getting the rebounds.
We're just going to take off.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Okayden cut it right, a seventy six percent free throw shooter,
knocks it down to complete the three point play. He
has nine himself here in this first quarter and the
unit go to lead is thirteen to seven, four forty
to play. First quarter.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
He had a quick start at Zane Trace last Friday.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Let all scores in that one with nineteen. Backer backs
it out ahead of the key, gets it into the
right wing. Richie for three knocks it down first points
for Jason Ritchie. A big triple there gets it to
a three point game at third thirteen ten.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Yeah, that was a nice shot there.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Perkins middle of the lane, dumps out, Fitch drives the
left elbow, pull up jumper the free throw line short
off the front of the rim, and have a rebound
Richie for a pikedn Able to avoid a steal attempt
from Hoops and now Richie all the way into the
right corner. Now back right point Thacker shot fake puts
it on the floor of Zicka Fous out to guard.
Now Henry extends out all the way to the perimeter,
(20:24):
throws into the left corner, down with it, dribbling back
out of the Keith Thacker throws up top and now
Henry has it right point extended, puts it on the
floor with the left hand one dribble the big Man
bounce passes to the left of the lane, picked out
of a pile there. Now Johnson in the corner, back
to Henry for a long three, and that one was
halfway down before it popped out. Zika Fou's the rebound
for the Shermans. Zika Fus quickly the other way, throws
(20:46):
it into the corner three ball from cut right. No
they had a rebound back to pikedon underneath. It was
Noah Ross who pulled it down. Three and a half
to play, first quarter, thirteen to ten. Unigodo pass deflected
stolen away by Blake. Hoops dribble it into the left
wing into the corner, tries to give it away nearly stolen,
but Cutwright got it, gets it to Fitch left point
three ball, no hoops. The rebound to put back goes.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Yeah, a good offensive rebound there by Hoops take it
right back.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Up strong fifteen to ten. Nioda leads three zero five
left first quarter, slowly bringing it up the floor. A
thacker stops at the right point, gives up Ross, puts
it on the floor, drives through the lane, lays it
up and in through traffic.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
He's had some nice offense here in this first quarter.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Noah, Ross and I'll try to trap. The Shermans are
the red streaks, but Unioda breaks through it and the
pass was tipped. But if they say it wasn't touch,
somebody has to overrule here, right.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
I was going to say, she's coming. I think she's
coming across the floor.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
To well, well, I guess they backed away from it.
It was from our angle it was easy to see
they were trying to throw. It got off the fingers
of a piked in player, which I mean it made
the ball change directions and go out of bounds. But
nobody had it, so Piken'll get it on the turnover.
Fifteen twelve Sherman's lead Red streaks with the basketball. Kelly
(22:13):
up the goion up top, tries to bounce pass into
Henry and pass his errant out of bounds. Well, they say,
Pike then gets it back.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Well, now two of them are going to talk.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Three of the Ineota coaches down on that end.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yeah, we're going to keep it here.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
They can't believe it. They didn't raise much of an
issue with the previous play that was not called a deflection,
and this one looked pretty clearly like it should have
been the other way. And bound pass here into the
left corner. Shanks gives it over to Kelly the right point.
Now going in a turnaround, Jumper has it blocked somehow,
(22:51):
Shanks comes up with it. His shot is blocked, and
now Zickafous comes away with it for the Shermans. Zickafus
left point hoops drives left side of the lane. He
picks it up well, backdoor cut Welch driving down the
baseline and then passes his way out to Zikafus, who
had it knocked away as he tried to go between
the legs, And they say piked and touched it last.
It'll stay with the Shermans.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Referees are all having a little issue as far as
his balls going out of bounce, and they're looking around
at each other every time.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
So two O five is where the clock stops. Fifteen
to twelve. Uniodo leads here at home against pikedon Fitch
will clear everyone out as he brings it across the
Sherman's logo at half court. Jack Welch now handling left
wing for Uniodo top of the key, gives up hoops,
left point, backs up fires a three too strong off
(23:45):
the flange high rebound, and Dawson Mitchell, who had just
checked in, was trying to get up over top of everybody,
and here he gets the foul call.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Hey what bike has done a really good job of
weather in the storm here saw a lot of transition
buckets there by Unioto, but piked it only down three.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Now they've hit some big threes and in the half
court they've been pretty stingy defensively, or they can limit
the transition points Layton Kelly and swinging around going in
right wing fire. So three knocks it down and we
are tied at fifteen, one and a half left your
first quarter.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah, that one's textbook ball.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Movement there, hoops open three, decides to drive anyway toward
the baseline, gets it out cut right for three, left
wing that one off the rim of the backboard and
rebound find Layton Kelly for Pike and another one and
done for the Shermans. Quickly the other way going in
for three from the corner. No and Mitchell the rebound
for the Shermans hoops, well take the three from the
(24:45):
left point. That's too strong and a foul under the basket.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
I'm not sure who we're going to get that on.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
It looks like Trevin Shanks for Piked in it's a
push in the back as David Long and KB Perkins
checked back in for Blake Coops and Dawson Mitchell. So
fifteen to all one to h five left first quarter.
You know he yoda to inbound Fitch underneath, bounce past
(25:14):
middle of the lane between four defenders. Welch nearly came
away with it, but he ends up losing it to
turnover back to Pike in Laydon Kelly right wing, bounce
pass Let's right side of the lane. They get it
down along the block. A little reverse action there from
Shanks can't get it to go off the glass. Perkins
the rebound, I had to cut right and he will
draw a foul as the layup goes off to the side,
(25:38):
but he has a chance to put two in from
the free throw line.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Here.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Tell you what, Perkins done a great job of getting
those outlet long outlets. It's like he's reliving his football
days that he didn't have this year. He's scheduled to
be the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
So Thacker picks up his first foul for piked in
his cut right fires and that one rattles home for
his tenth point of the ninth. He has ten of
the sixteen for the Shermans as they go up by one.
Were forty five point eight left here on this first
quarter clock.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
That's a pretty good first quarter.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yeah, I would say not bad for about seven minutes
and fifteen seconds where the work missus the second one.
I'm piked it again the rebound packer handling as he
brings it up the floor left to right into the
left wing.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Goalion.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
That's a big three in this quarter Johnson, and now
in the Thacker again in the right wing, back up
right point Goion. And now bo Henry walks it back
top of the key going in right point, bounce past again,
Henry looks for the three in and out from the
left point offensive rebound by Jase Johnson trying to go
back into the lane and it's picked off by Fitch
(26:48):
who gets ahead to Perkins. Little reverse layup and it's
short off the side of the rim and Henry the
rebound for piked in and they get him for a
travel double dribble there and so a quick turnover back.
They thought they had to stop Lou piked in, but
couldn't quite get the ball up the floor.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Yeah, if you're piking here, you want a good stop
here with nine seconds go. If you're Unioto, you want
to get a good offensive possession.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Wide open, long in the corner. Passes at the Perkins
six five, Fitch and the right wing four three middle
of the lane. Perkins back into the corner for Welsh fires.
The three knocks a down at the buzzer. Boy, how
good has Uneoda have been this year at hitting it
at the buzzer at the end of a quarter. They
get another one, this time with three from Jack Welch,
(27:34):
and they go up nineteen fifteen after one. This is
Hernstein Hunday coverage of the SVC on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 5 (27:43):

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Ah.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
The scent of gain Flings. Try Game Flames with oxy
boost and fabreeze.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Start of the second quarter here at Nyoda. Sherman's lead
piked in nineteen fifteen after one and Lou not quite
the sharpshooting we are used to to start a game
from the Shermans.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Oh they were eight eighteen forty four percent, only one
of six from beyond the arc at last shot there
by Jack Welsh are only three.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Good job also by piked in a being stingy on
the defense and end in limiting Uneodo's second chance opportunities.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Well piked in with six of eleven shooting fifty five percent.
The big difference is those transition buckets.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Right now, Noah Ross trying to dribble through a double
team and he draws a foul as his face mask
kind of got pulled down over his nose and mouth.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
I think, I think that's definitely a telltale sign you
got foul.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
See who they are gonna put that foul? Was it Fitch?
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:43):
I think they have up on the board inbound past
the Henry and an easy up and end from the
right block. So five now for him and it's back
to a two point game nineteen seventeen.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
He's a tough guy to lose in there, so I'm
not sure how he came open.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Lake Hoop's right wing has bumped. He tried to pass it,
ball kind of stuck to his arm and goes right
to piked in back the other way. Johnson turns a
round hands off going in, drives baseline low on the right,
and he traveled He was trying to kind of back
his way. He dribbled on himself under the basket, under
the backboard, along the baseline, and he was trying to
carve out some space to kind of move bodies out
(30:19):
of the way and so he could get into a
position to shoot. It looked like lou but kind of
hopped a couple times there, didn't.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
He ya, He took an extra step there. And that's
the six turnovers on the knife for Pike. And again
they've done a pretty good job of handling the ball,
but again you cannot have those type of turnovers against
his uniodo team.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Sherman's break the press, Perkins passes left wing zikafus wide
open three short off the front of the rim, and
again the rebound of Piked in is Jase. Ritchie pulls
it down, Richie ahead to Johnson, who dribbles ahead of
the Key now drives right baseline through a double team
up up and off the glass, but it goes over
the basket, hoops the rebound for the Shermans. Fitch racing
the other way spin move with the right of the lane,
(30:57):
but the layup doesn't go and Richie the rebound for
the piked in Red Streaks. Richie's still handling curls out
at the left corner. Zicka Boo's guarding now picks up
his dribble, has to give it up, finds Noah Ross
near center circle. They'll swing it around into the right corner.
Johnson and now Henry head of the key fire. So
the three knocks that one down.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
I tell you what. He steps out there, and without
a doubt he's ready to shoot it.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Makes his second triple of the night. In fact, he
has two threes and one two so far in this one.
Not what you expect from your six foot six college
tackle or what will be a college tackle. Left wing
here welch as Piking goes back up by a point
twenty nineteen. Six minutes left here and Perkins has it
(31:45):
swiped away by some helping defender Jase Johnson, but he
ran out of room and went out of bounds. And
now the Red Streaks change out three bodies here Backer
back in, Leighton, Kelly back in, and Shanks back in
as well, and bounce zickafoose passes to Fitch underneath, and
(32:07):
he gets it up and over the defender, and in.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
So plays a lot bigger than what he is.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
He's kind of able to use the angles in the
body contact to shoot over the taller defender when you
go to backup by one twenty five point forty left
first half. Piked him with the basketball here on the
road pass underneath. I don't think Thacker was expecting and
able to get it to a teammate though, And a
long three on the way bounces off the back of
the rim hits the wire. I guess the ribbon up
(32:37):
above that it's part of that mechanism where you can
raise and lower the backboard from the ceiling, so that's
out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
You're not really sure what the purpose of that is
because you also have a cable up there.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
I would think that the steel cable does the bulk
of the work almost looks like one of those thin
they call him ropes, but those barriers they put up
to make wines. You know. He attach him from one
stanchion to another. KB Perkins handles for the Shermans. They
lead by one here in the second quarter. Fitch left
(33:08):
out of the lane across the lane to Perkins right block,
gets some double team help and his shot no good
fitch the rebound, the putback goes and he draws the foul.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Well, just to reiterate what I just said, he plays
a lot bigger than what he is, but you know,
when you're five eight, you have to do that. But
he just does know has a knack of where the
ball is going to be, and then he has a
knack of just finding little creases and by using his
spin move finding himself open.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
I mean, he gets the rebound he was the smallest
of about five players in the area, and then finds
a way to put it in and the free throw
goes in to make another three point play. He now
has seven and the Sherman's lead is twenty four to
twenty with five left. Here in this second quarter, Packer
bringing it up the floor left the right floor, piked
in left wing. Now Kelly puts on the floor working
(34:00):
on koy shot toward the basket. No Perkins. The rebound
has to really work hard to get the pass ahead
as the ball was loose, and Perkins hits the deck hard,
but his teammates there quickly to help him up. You
always worry Lou whenever you go down on your back,
got that head kind of slamming down after KB looks
(34:23):
like he's okay.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Yeah, I was gonna get a towe out there the
wife off the floor. But yeah, you hate to see
a kid's ahead go bouncing off of the floor. Looks
like everybody's good. Yep.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Four forty five left here, second quarter, twenty four to
twenty Shermans by their standards, struggling to shoot the basketball
here so far in this game, but still up by four,
and piked in giving it everything they have like you
would expect. Fitch up top now hoop's right wing with it,
(35:04):
holds it over his head, puts it on the floor
of the left hand, picks up quickly skip past into
the left wing coy underhand shovel pass there and a
zickafuse drives to the right ol bow bounce past right corner.
Hoops tried the base line, instead goes around the defender
toward the lane, gets it to KB Perkins somehow, who
somehow puts it in the hoop.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
He's gonna say, I didn't think there was enough room
for him to do that, but he did it.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
It's like the ball teleported twenty six to twenty Sherman's
four h five left here second quarter, Jase Johnson handling
for pikeding and now gives up to Noah Ross. Facker
now right wing head of the key Richie down the
baseline left side. Ross had a block and taken away
by Perkins. He fires ahead right wing three ball and
(35:53):
that one too strong from hoops and the rebound Leighton
Kelly fo piked.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
In still u Niota one of eight from beyond the arc.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Piked him. Now in the half court offense working against
this unioda man demand. Noah Ross driving had it stripped
away by Fitch and it goes off his leg out
of bounds under the basket, and it's that, you know,
the ball handler kind of gets caught up with who
is guarding them directly, and you get some help come
over and get an extra hand in there and knock
(36:26):
it away.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Yeah, that I think that's a turnover. You know, you
can live with it. He was trying to go hard
to the bucket, so.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
The Shermans get it back up twenty six to twenty
three to twenty five left second quarter, trying to break
some pressure here now from Pike and now they back
off as Fitch brings it over the timeline, dribbling around,
letting the offense set up, gets a screen from Perkins
pull up three from the head of the k knocks
it down. Fitch, with his first triple of the night,
(36:55):
puts him at ten. Had a time out for pikedn
as the Shermans open up a nine point twenty nine
to twenty with three h five left in the second quarter.

Twenty nine to twenty any other leads here on their
home floor against the piked in red streets. The Shermans,
with a win tonight would clench a share of the
SVC and then would have the opportunity to win it
outright a week from tomorrow at Paint Valley in a
makeup game going back to when we had all that
(38:06):
snow and ice and there were a lot of cancelations
so long ago. It was what a level three snow
emergency down this way for a while.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
For days, But uh yeah, Pikedon took a lead there
twenty nineteen and ever since it's been on a ten
oh run here by Uniodo. So good comeback by them.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Blake Fitch with the big three meeting to the time
out for piked In three ball that I'm sure Uniodo
was happy to see finally go in, and that one
nearly lost. His backer was bringing it up the flour
the way he dribbled it off his shoe and the
ball just kind of stopped, but he's able to recontrol
now Henry down low a nice catching lay up down
on the left again, Perkins quickly the other way. He
(38:48):
finds Cutt right who lays it in with the left hand.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Goodness, tell you can't look down and look away, but
that was a nice move by Henry. Again, another nice
look down the floor by Unioda.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Henry down with cutting right now with twelve thirty one
to twenty two Shermans middle of the lane. A foul
called as Jase Johnson was trying to drive to the
basket and they say it's on the floor and it's
the Shermans will pick up their just second foul here
this second quarter, and this one goes on hoops his
(39:19):
first of the night and about pass from factory, nearly
tipped away by Fitch, goes through the hands and it
is taken away by Fitch right in front of the
Sherman bench. Nice individual effort there from Fitch. Drives to
the right of the lane, kicks it out, cutting right
for three in and out from the right wing, rebound
loose and pulled in by Zikafous. Now Fitch drives right
(39:41):
side up off the glass. No rebound loose, Perkins corrals.
He puts it back. No put back this time. No,
But he's fouled. I think he was fouled the first time,
but he gets the call the second time, and KP
will go to the line here. Seems like he's done
a lot here tonight, but it's just looking for his
third point of the night.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Ye, you and you had had four shots at it
that time. And they finally get to the go to
the free throw line.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
KB Perkins a sixty four percent free throw shooter. The
lefty fires it and it is too strong. It's a
team that is seventy five percent from the line on
the year. There's David Long and Jack Welch check check
(40:29):
back into the game for Uni Yodo played coops Jackson
Zickafuz take a break and the second one goes home
for KB Perkins. He has three. It's a thirty two
to twenty two ten point lead here for Yunyota two
minutes left in the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Yeah, I believe this is the biggest lead of the
ball game. Gotta be if you're piking, you gotta be
very careful here. You don't let him go in another run.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Bill Henry up top again. They sling it around to
the corner Thacker on the far side, left corner. Thacker
dribbling gets it back. Henry fires the three head of
the key to strong there long shot. Long rebound goes
all the way out toward the sideline where Thacker pulls
it in finds a man Golian underneath. He can't get
the shot to go, and the rebound is to cut
right for the Shermans cut right ahead to Fitch left
(41:12):
wing troubles down to the left block and now the
baseline turns us back to the rim, back toward the
basket shot partially block I think, goes off the side
of the backboard, left of the rim and back to Piking.
Mason Thacker handling up top between the rings. One to
fifteen left in the first half. Now lighton Kelly lops
down low for Henry. Beautiful pass lay up and in
(41:35):
for Henry.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Does such a good job with his body, not pushing
off on those little lobs, just great footwork.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Sherman's back the other way, long inside for Perkins puts
it up with the left hand.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
Yep, where's that battle I was talking about inside? Good
to see.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Forty five seconds left here in the first half, thirty
four twenty four to ten point lead for UNIODA teams
trading buckets here the last few possessions and now loose
ball underneath is they tried to get it to Henry,
Fitch pulls it away, long pass down the other way
to cut right. It was defended nicely by Luke Gollan,
who was basically a defensive back in that situation able
(42:18):
to knock it out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
So it's funny down here. Bo Henry basically covered up
Blake Fitch. You couldn't see him because bo Henry was
on top of him. I thought the referee was coming
in to blow the whistle to call foul, but they didn't.
Ball comes out quickly the other way.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
Thirty seconds left here in the second quarter. We know
Unioda loves to hold for the final shot. They hit
one of the buzzer at the end of the first quarter,
and it looks like they're trying to eat some clock
here as it gets down to fifteen seconds left in
the second quarter. I think that game against Zane Trace
on Friday week ago, three of the four quarters they
(42:59):
hit a buzzer beater or scored right near the buzzer
as they held for the last shot. Now, Fitch down
low on the right, got to the block, but couldn't
get the ball up in the air high enough, kind
of rattled off the side of the rim, and that's
the way the first half and Sherman's with a ten
point lead here at home over the pike in red streaks.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
Halftime Here at Uneyoto, the Sherman's of the ten point
lead over the piked In Red Streaks thirty four twenty
four and scoring wise in this first half, four five
players in the score sheet for the Red Streaks and
half of their twenty four points coming from Bo Henry
who hit two threes in that first half total twelve points,
(46:55):
four points from Noah Ross, three each from Luke Gollian
and Chase Rich and two points from Leyton Kelly. And
in fact bo Henry was the only Red Streak to
score a point in the second quarter that last frame there,
so Henry with a big second quarter keeping the Pikes
the piked In Red Streaks around here in this win
(47:17):
for Uniodo, it's twelve points from Caden Cutwright, ten points
from Blake Fitch, who both have pretty big first halfs.
In fact, Cutwright it was all twelve in that first quarter.
Fitch with a big second quarter to make it a
ten point first half for him, two from Blake Coops,
five from KB Perkins, three from Jack Welch, and two
from Jackson Zikafouse. It was nineteen fifteen Uniodo after one,
(47:42):
and the Sherman's outscore piked in fifteen to nine in
the second quarter to take that ten point thirty four
to twenty four lead.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
Yeah, you look at the numbers, Uniodo fourteen and thirty three,
shooting forty two percent thirty three shots in a one half.
They were two of ten from beyond the arc, in
four or six at the free throw line. Pikedon on
the other hand, ten of twenty shooting fifty percent. But
they only got twenty shots compared to thirty three by
Uni Yodo. And again it's one of those things where
(48:13):
they have ten turnovers there in the first half. When
you turn the ball over and don't get a shot,
that hurts your offense. They are four of nine from
beyond the arc. So again good shooting by Piketon, but
they got to take better care of the basketball. Piketon
took that lead at twenty to nineteen there in the
second quarter and ever since then. It was a fifteen
to four run by Unioto the end and a half.
(48:33):
And that's what they do. I mean, they make runs
on you, and a lot of times it is right
at the end of the first half that they make
a run. And that's what we see again here tonight.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Well, they didn't get the shot to go down at
the end of the second quarter. They got the shot
from Zikafu or excuse me for Welch for three at
the end of the first quarter, but they still got
the shot. It seems like they always have the ball
at the end of a quarter and most of the
time they find a way to put it in. And
you know, not the sharp shooting that we've seen several
times this year from the Shermans, but you kind of
(49:04):
touched on it. They go on runs, but they're just
so relentless in the way that they play that eventually
they're gonna see the ball go down the hoop. And
we've been in some games where we felt like Uni
Yota probably wasn't happy to go to the locker room
because of the way they were playing and they didn't
want to stop the momentum tonight, probably happy to have
that little bit of break.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
Yeah, I think they're going to go in and maybe
make some adjustments, re emphasize some things. But yeah, that
u Andi Yoto. You know, we know they can go
on runs and second half, first four minutes. You know,
we talked about even last Friday. They won the first
four minutes of last Friday's game where Zane Trace did
make a little run at him, but they came right back.
(49:43):
But if you're piked in, you got to be happy.
You're only down ten here and you played well against them.
If it wasn't for those ten turnovers where they got
transition bockets off of buckets. Off of those turnovers, this
could be a much closer game.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
I'm sure they'd like to have a little bit more
spreading the wealth, so to speak. On the offensive end again,
Bo Henry with all nine of their second quarter points.
But do you lean into that a little bit, Louis,
he's hit a couple of big threes. He's kind of
been all over the Florida You just you know, when
he's on down low, it seems like he's able to
position himself well and they're able to pass it to
(50:18):
a spot where he can catch and lay in. Obviously
easier said than done, but maybe you lean into that
a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
You would think you'd want to do that. But again,
he's a type of player that you know, if he's
comfortable stepping out, and we've seen he's able to make
him that. I think, Coach Miller, you're you're fine with
him taking those shots, but you would like to see
him more inside. He's really a good player. I mean,
I've been in Preshmint and this is only the second
time I've seen fighting this year. But he is a
(50:45):
really good player, and he's a tough matchup and one
of the reasons is he can step out and hit it.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yeah, much more athletic than you might, you know think
at first glance, some very good footwork, especially inside. Looks
very comfortable shooting the three, and it just makes a
little bit hard who's a fin When you have a
big guy like that that can come out, it forces
KB who's guarding him to come out and around the perimeter,
which kind of takes away a shot alter shot blocker
(51:10):
down low for the other players to get down there
as well.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
Yeah, and the thing here with bo Henry is, I mean,
he is just a phenomenal athlete. I think you look
at football his probably best sport, but I think football
coaches are gonna look tape of basketball and see how
he moves on to basketball for and again, KB Perkins,
(51:33):
you talk about the big men for Uniota, he too
is a tremendous athlete, and we see that he's going
to go play baseball at Finley. But you know, both
of these guys, I really enjoy the matchup seeing two
true big guys going at it a little bit. And again,
I know KB wants to step out and hit us through.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
You know, you absolutely know that's the case. He did
have a nice second quarter. KB started to heat up
a little bit there for the Shermans with a five
point second quarter after being held off the scoresheet in
that first quarter. But Gunyatta up ten here, thirty four
to twenty four at halftime about a minute and some
change away from getting a second half under way. So
we'll take a quick break back with a second half
(52:15):
between the Shermans and the Red Streaks after this. As
Hernstein Hundai coverage of the SBC ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 8 (52:21):

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Guess you abut ready for the start of the third
quarter Here at Uniyoto thirty four to twenty four. The
Sherman's lead the piked in red Streaks. Jacob Wise with
you on long loop postage Sidney Newsome back end studio
tonight for our Hernstein Hondai coverage of the SVC here
on ninety four Country WKKJ. In reminder that you can
check out all the scores from around the area tonight
over at our Accurate Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Scoreboard page
(53:52):

our Accurate Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Scoreboard show. Vanessa and
crew run down all the scores from the area and
talk to several area coaches over the phone as well,
and I going to get you caught up on the
knight's action from the region. In high school basketball, start
(54:13):
of the second half, Uniyoda starts with the basketball up
by ten. Fitch gets it left of the lane, jump shot,
no rebound, loose in pulled down by bo Henry for
the Red Streaks. So one and done here to start
it on the offensive end to start the second half
for Uniodo.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Yeah, that was a good job there by Piking getting
to stop. They got to stop at the end of
the half too, so two stops in a row.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Bo Henry head of the key Perkins out to guard
the little back door feed down low on the left,
double pump from Shanks too high off the glass, but
an offensive rebound the boot back from Gullion goes in
and the red strakes at the first points of the
third quarter, it's thirty four to twenty six. As they
cut into that Sherman lead KB Perkins up high, gives
(54:55):
up Zicka fouse and now Fitch left point extended a bit.
It back the siic of foose into the right corner.
Now hoops one hand pass, left elbow, cut right down
the lane. Left hand runner rolls in.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
Yeah, a nice job there by Hoops finding cut right
on the back side and cut right. Took it right
to the.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Hole inside seven to play here. Third quarter back to
a ten point game. Thirty six twenty six backer handling
for piked In gives up the left wing. Goi in
cut right out to guard. Here's Henry up top three,
ball on the way too strong, hoops the rebound for
the Shermans, Hoops pushing it up the floor three on two,
just stops in the middle of the lane and lets
(55:35):
it roll into the basket.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
Hey what Sometimes they just make it look so easy.
In transition.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
Six twenty left here third quarter thirty eight twenty six
now twelve point lead for Uni.
Speaker 3 (55:47):
Yodo, get a nice battle inside there, going.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
In the right wing. I'm trying to get it down
there now Henry pops out, takes it ahead of the key,
swings it around back up top. Here Shanks working on hoops,
has it picked away from behind. Its cut right, and
he'll take it all the way himself left to right.
Lady again with the right hand cut right now with
sixteen off the steal and score in a time out
for piked in five fifty four left third quarter forty
(56:17):
to twenty six is the UNIODA lead. This is Pernstein
Hundai coverage of the SVC ninety four country WKKJ.
Speaker 15 (56:25):
Urich Financial located at seventy one East Second Street in
downtown Chili Cooffee, is a proud sponsor of SVC High
School Sports on ninety four Country WKKJ. For more information
on Urich Financial Services or for a free consultation, give
them a call at seven four zero seven seven three
thirty three thirty.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
One out of the piked in time out, Uneoto making
one of those little runs. We start thirty four to
twenty four here, and we're just over two minutes into
this third quarter and it's forty to twenty six now,
(57:08):
coming off that kind of pick from cut Right where
he kind of poked it away from behind the ball
handler who was engaged with another defender and then takes
it coast to coast to the layup.
Speaker 3 (57:19):
Yeah. They they've only had six points since the four
minute mark of the second quarter has biked in, so
they need to get some offense going.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Here fall the right corner, Shanks trying to get it inside.
They get Henry, but he's jammed up against the baseline
and he's able to just power his way through fitch
and put it in again. Quickly, they'll pass the other way.
Cut Right fouled and they'll give him the basket and
the foul.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Tell you what that was close Zickfus almost went upper
and touched the net when the ball was still up there.
But they're gonna say they're going to give it to
cut Right.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
So eighteen now the chance to make it nineteen for
Caden cut Right, he would equal his total from last
Friday's win over his same trace on the road.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
Pike In has not adjusted to that quick outlet.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
Pass, shot rims out and piked in the rebound Unioto
forty two piked in twenty eight five twenty left here
third quarter. Richie dribbling right elbow, picks it up, finds
a man low on the right block, and Trevin Shanks
puts it in for his first two. Fitch quickly the
other way hoops not about the three from the right wing,
(58:30):
dribbles to the baseline, almost lost out of bounds, finds
Zika Fu's left point. Now'll fitch with it right point
backs it back out. He nearly lost his dribble as
he gets a screen from Perkins, steps through a defender
who runs by him, kind of threw it awkwardly toward
the rim, went off the front end Perkins. The rebound
now cut right through the lane back to Perkins right
point fires the three, knocks it down.
Speaker 3 (58:51):
I called it.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
I told you, Davy Perkins with the triple. You said
you knew he wanted to hit one and now a three.
The other other way altered as Shanks tried to shoot
it over Perkins, and last minute it looked like Shanks
tried to adjust and it just missed wide right. Everything
out of bounce.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Yeah, that's one of those you know, years down the
road KB is gonna go. You remember on senior night
when I stepped out and nailed that three, No doubter.
Speaker 2 (59:21):
Had absolutely no thoughts of doing anything else, and it
was a beauty forty five to thirty. Now is to
lead for the Shermans. Four and a half to play.
Third quarter, Fitch setting up the offense as he now
passes it back to Perkins and now cutting right left wings,
started toward the baseline, pulled it back out. Oh quick
(59:43):
pass out and then back into Perkins, who lays it
up all the right.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
What a look great job ever by Blake Fitch of
catching the ball quickly getting an inside to the open
man Perkins.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
Well it's almost just a tap back down in he
didn't have it in his hands. A long great pass
to Perkins going in down driving for Piking and now
in the right wing with it Richie dribbles right elbow
cross the lane for going and who lays it up
on the left.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Piked is really moving well on the offensive end. And
again they're still shooting the ball fairly. Well, it's four
of seven here this quarter. They just keep get it,
can't get enough stops on the defensive end.
Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
So foul here on Layton Kelly, who picks up his
second second team foul for piked in here in this
third quarter NIODO with no fouls so far. They haven't
fouled much tonight at all. I think I only have
three written down here. So the Sherman's inbound and Fitch
(01:00:45):
will bring it up against Jase Johnson, who plays a
little full court man demand on him. Fitch, driving through
the lane with the right hand, puts it up and end.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
Tell you what, once he gets a little step on you,
he take advantage of that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:02):
Twelve. Now for Blake, Fitch has decided I'm going to
do this one myself. Right wing. Now lighton, Kelly dribbles,
throws into the corner. Ritchie now along the baseline going
and backs it back out into the corner and this
past taken away. Zika fu steps in front of it,
steals it, and now Fitch up the floor for the
Shermans left the right. He drives right lane again and
(01:01:24):
goes down and they say it just goes out about
a lot of contact there. I think Fitch maybe stepped
on the foot of the defender, which you can't you know,
fault the defender for there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Yeah, he just tried to drive it and he lost
control of it and it's going to be out of
bounds to Pike team.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Three zero three left here in the third forty nine
two in the Yodo out in front, backer crossed the
half court stripe into the right wing of the key,
going in cut right out to guard. Now on the
right wing, Johnson tried to go baseline. I had to
(01:02:05):
pull it back out in his pass is right where
his teammate had just vacated all the way back into
the back court and out of bounds back to the
Shermans right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Good hustle. There are two guys on the floor there,
one from each team, but it's gonna go to Junieta.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
To forty one left here in the third, Sherman's will
a chance to add to this forty nine to thirty
two lead. It's been a big into that third second
quarter and a good start here to this third quarter.
Although this pass nearly taken away I think it was,
and then Fitch able to get it back for the Shermans.
They get it to Welch in the corner, who knocks
down the.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Three two for two tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Two threes seems to be one of his specialties whenever
we've seen him this year. Get a big one at
the end of that first quarter. Now playing defense here
on Thacker as he brings it up the floor for
pikedn now left wing with it, Johnson head of the
key into the right wing, going for three that's short
off the side of the rim, and Dawson Mitchell hauls
(01:03:09):
it in for Uniodo inside two minutes to play third quarter. Well,
she thought about another three in the right wing.
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
I think he thought about it, and he's like, whoa,
I'm a little deep here.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Gives it up to Fitch instead, who will reset the
offense hoops at the free throw line, pull up Jumper
there too strong and left off the backboard, Paul loose,
and finally Thacker picks it up off the floor. A
minute and a half left here in the third step
through on the drive from Richie in the shot nowhere
(01:03:39):
near the basket.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Dawson Mitchell there making him change it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
A lot of contact there again lou inside and they
let it go, which I don't think Niyodo minds a
whole lot. And now a time out called here by
Matt Combs and the Shermans, as the Shermans didn't look
like they were set up to run anything on the
offensive end. One twenty one left here in the third
fifty two to thirty two is a certain stan hun
day coverage of the SVC ninety four country WKKJ.
Speaker 16 (01:04:08):

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
One twenty one left here in the third from Unioto,
the Sherman's with a fifty two to thirty two lead
over piked In and Uniota looking to sew up a
second straight conference title. A win tonight gives them a
share a chance to win it outright a week from
tomorrow in Bainbridge against Paint Valley, but it's still some
(01:05:07):
work to do in this one. They can find cut
right low on the left hand hung as some defenders
went by, but the shot errant and bo Henry the
rebound for Piken, Ritchie ahead for the Red Streaks, drives
across the lane, dumps back Henry for three. Give them
three on the night. Seventeen now for bo Henry is
(01:05:29):
third triple for the big man.
Speaker 3 (01:05:32):
That's how you can add on to that point total there,
if you're able to step out and make.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Threes and ooh, almost to steal there about half court,
but Paul just sneaks past Shanks into the hands of Fitch,
who backs it back out to reset again. Fucked out
of thirty seconds and the Shermans, if they can do it,
would love to run the rest of this time off
this third quarter up fifty two to thirty five seconds.
(01:06:00):
Now as Fitch continues to handle, finds Long in the
right wing, and now Welch has it right point and
Fitch again near half court. Down to ten seconds left.
Here in the third Fitch to Mitchell, Welch right point
down to three seconds into the wing. Three ball from
Long mill off the back of the rim, and the
(01:06:21):
shot attempt the other way will not count if it goes,
which it does not, And we go to the fourth
quarter here at Uniota with the score of Uniyodo fifty
two and piked In thirty five. This is Herrnstein Hundai
coverage of the SVC ninety four country WKKJ.
Speaker 13 (01:06:37):
You never know if the person next to you in
line is a McMuffin, a mcgriddle's biscuit, or burtal person.
But what you do know is that every last one

Speaker 9 (01:06:48):
We're brave enough to get out of bed a.
Speaker 13 (01:06:50):
Few minutes early.
Speaker 6 (01:06:52):
Right now, get a two dollar breakfast sandwich like a bacon,
egg and cheese biscuit, a sausage McMuffin with egg only
in the app off for valid one time a day
from sevent twenty nine to nine one twenty four, Participenny
McDonalds must stop into.
Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
Rewards a Gain Scent Beads story. Jim was at the
laundromat when he heard his years said maraccus signor, but
his nose said hey freshest sent Ever, following his nose,
Jim found a man pouring the bottle of Gain Scent
beads into the washer. The scent, the freshness. Jim blurted, Sir,
(01:07:24):
your scent maroccas smell amazing. Actually, Jim, most noses call
them gain scent beads. Try gain scent beads way fresher
than detergents alone.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Start of the fourth quarter Here at Unyodo, Sherman's up
fifty two thirty five on the pike in Red Streaks
Unyoda looking for windoburs seventeen on the year, and when
you improved to twelve and one. He and the SVC
they're only long in league play a kind of a
(01:08:04):
all this surprise loss earlier in the season that they
have played very very well since.
Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Yeah, that loss was up at west Fall and who's
tonight is getting beat by a Dina after third quarter
Dina sixty four, Westfall forty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
I find that score another is over on the Accurate
Heating and Cooling and Plumbing Scoreboard page WKKJA dot com.
I's pass inside. Noah Ross lays it in for the
Red Streets and now six points for the junior cuts
it to fifty two to thirty seven. Fitch up top
gets a screen from Perkins lobs back to Perkins, who
(01:08:43):
goes above everyone to get it, and he gets back
with the next top to the rim and puts it in.
Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Yeah, a nice body control. There By Perkins takes its
shir up strong.
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
Now ten for KB driving left side, had it poked
away as Jason Ritchie and it rolls out of bounds
under the back basket. Man Ritchie, I think on the
attempt to get it back, was the last one to
touch it. So the Shermans will get it right back here.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Yeah, getting piked In's still shooting the ball well five
of nine that quarter, one and four from beyond the arc,
but getting those turnovers just limit the amount of times
they were able to get opportunities to score.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Now a little light full court pressure that now backs
off here from piked in Fitch across the half court stripe.
Seven minutes left to play. Fitch to Hoops, who hands
it back to Fitch down to the baseline. Across the
baseline to the corner. The three ball goes for Caden
cut Right.
Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
Got a job by Kayden cut Right of getting to
the corner knowing that Fitch was going to drive to
the baseline and making himself available.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Now twenty one for Caden Cutwright, who had eighteen in
the first meeting between these two fifty seven to thirty seven.
Back to a twenty point game, and the ball gets
knocked out of bounds here by Blake Hoop defending in
the corner against Noah Ross. So they'll inbound it from
near that spot, and we'll try a third different inbounder
(01:10:12):
here is they play a little hot potato here on
the sideline, and finally Poe Henry, who will toss it
in to Trevin Shanks, rides down the right side of
the lane and lays it in good drive there six
and a half left. Fitch off a screen from Perkins
(01:10:33):
to the right elbow, backs it out now back in
spin move middle of the lane, kicks out Zicker. Fus
drives baseline spun around but lost the basketball. Had to
come out to get it, gets it to Hoops who
drives to the right elbow underhand shovel pass jump shot
now from Fitch and the rebound went right through the
legs of Trevin Shanks back to Fitch of Unioto now
underneath pass denied, tipped and taken away by Luke Gullion
(01:10:57):
right underneath the basket along the baseline back the other
way right the left for the Red Streaks and now
try to drive baseline and shanks that have poked away
from behind it out of.
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
Bounds getting I mean, the Red Streaks have been playing
hard throughout this game. There's just no stopping him. And
in nice little rotation. You gotta understand this team only
has two seniors on it, so a lot of these
guys are going to be back again next year. And
you look at bout bo Henry, He's going to be
back in the middle next year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Mbound pascoes off the back of KB Perkins right back
to the inboundary facker who did out on purpose. They
swing it around, get it out there, going in for three.
No Perkins. The rebound. Zikafus by himself the other way,
hangs in the air, layup, doesn't go as he had
a little pressure. Somehow gets the rebound and now kicks
it out. Hoops not about three. He'll take the three
from the left point and he knocks it down.
Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
Good job is staying with it by Zikathooslake.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Coops gets the three ball to go. Now has seven
sixty to thirty nine. Is the Uneoda lead five point
twenty left to play left wing. Richie puts it on
the floor, spins left elbow, shot up short off the
side of the rim, hoops the rebound Lake Hoops one
of the seniors recognized before the game. Here tonight playing
(01:12:16):
his last home basketball game. Fitch handling against Gullion and
along the perimeter, turns around, dumps it back out. Hoops
not about the three out to guard him as Johnson
and now Hoops will drive left of the lane. Spins
Jumper knocks it down.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
Good move there, nice fall away Jumper.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
All of a sudden, he's at nine and a time
out for piked and as Kyle Miller asks for the stoppage,
four forty left Unioto sixty two piked in thirty nine.
This is Hernstein Hundai coverage of the SVC on ninety
four country WKKJ.

Presenting a Gain Flames love story. Dear love of my life.
We were on the twelve B bus this morning when
I caught a whiff a scent so fresh, so life changing.
I had to find its source. Alas I didn't know
if you were the woman in the pink freshly washed
cart again or the retired mailman next to me, but
(01:13:45):
I knew one of you was my soulmate, Ah the
scent of gain Flames. Try Gain Flames with oxy boost
and fabreeze.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Out of the time out sixty two to thirty nine.
Unioto leads here four thirty nine left In this one
is piked in in bounds of basketball, three ball away
from Layton Kelly, high arching shot left and the rebound
tipped out and controlled by Thacker for piked in and
another three ball from Kelly, this time it goes down
from the left wing.
Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
Kin there's a senior for you.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Gives him five All the night sixty two forty two
back to a twenty point game. Coops right wing long
three ball wide open, knocks that one down, putsim in
double figures.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
Out at twelve, puts all three seniors for Unioto and double.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Figures left corner. Kelly shot fake drives, has it knocked
away by Perkins out of bounds off of him.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
I've got four blocks on the night for Perkins.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
Who does a little bit of everything, doesn't he and
bound pires passed here. They tried to get it past
Perkins to ross, it goes off of a body and
somehow Piking able to get it past to going inside,
kicks it back out to the right wing driving now
Johnson down the lane and that one too strong off
(01:15:18):
the glass put back from Thacker goes in middle of
the lane. Believe it or not, Mason Thacker, with his
first points of the night.
Speaker 3 (01:15:29):
Had a good job staying with him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
For piked in there inside three and a half minutes
left sixty five forty four. Uineoto's lead cut right handling
up top gets it out right corner, three ball too
strong from zickafoos and the rebound Kelly for piked in
Packer pushing it up the floor now spins out around
the bench area, dribbles back ahead of the key throws
(01:15:52):
into the right wing. Jase Johnson low on the right
block now as Ross who as it's stripped away as
he tried to reach for the basket and so piked
an all inbound from under their own basket. As bo
Henry checks back into the game for Jase Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Twenty one point lead here for Uni Yodo. I'm sure
we're gonna see the seniors come out here.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
Shortly, a long shot from Kelly goes into the hands
of Gullion, who puts it up and end blow on
the right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
We called that a pass.
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Can you give him a missshot and.
Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
A pass and misshot assist?
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
There you go sixty five forty six. The Sherman lead
cut right, spins, stumps back out the Fitch, who shockingly
it feels like has another year. You're at New Yodo.
Three ball from hoops and it's in and out rebound.
Zickafu's through traffic man he gets fout on his way through.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
Zickafusa is offensively tonight, not a lot. He's got two points,
but again, his defense and his athletic ability really helped
this team out.
Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
You've got that rebound coming through and he looked like
he was playing Red Rover, Red Rover trying to break
the arm barricade kind of held him up. Drew the
foul on the floor. Saw our first s KB Perkins
getting a applause as he checks out. Hoops gets the
inbound pass between the rings, hands it off here to
(01:17:24):
Caden cut right, crossover dribble, three ball away short off
the front of the rim, and Blake coops the rebound
to the Shermans. He'll drive it back to the basket,
but with the left hand he puts it in and
draws the foul. It seems like it goes this way
a lot low where you know, Blake Hoop's very effective
(01:17:45):
on the floor, but not scoring many points. And then
all of a sudden you look down in the fourth
quarter and he's got fourteen. Ye Cayden cut right now
checks out.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Yeah, Hoops, he can score in bunches, and that's what
he've done here in the fourth quarter. He's got what
ten in the fourth quarter alone.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
Kenn cut right by the way, finishes his final game
here at home with twenty one points, leading all scores.
There's Hoops knocks down the second Now fifteen for him
quickly the other way Thacker puts it in low on
the right some quick passing. There still twenty point games
sixty eight to forty eight, two of five left to play,
(01:18:27):
and they still have Blake Hoops to bring out. In
this one jumper middle the lane for Fitch goes down
fourteen now for him seventy to forty eight. Right wing.
Richie spins out of it. Henry up top hands off,
now right wing Richie for three short off the side
(01:18:49):
of the rim, off the hand of a Piking player
into the hand of Blake Hoops about it knocked away,
but Isaac Coy there to grab it for the Shermans.
Long handles. Now Fitch gives it, backs it out to
that Sherman's logo painted at half court. Long gives up
Fitch again top of the key back Tolong running the
(01:19:10):
left side of the lane had a shot partially blocked.
I think by Henry, and Henry will pick up the
loose ball and get it back for Pike in.
Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
Backer trying to get a foul here, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
Back up the Florida, Henry and theyn't get the foul.
Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Here is.
Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
David Long reaches up and grabs Henry and some changes
being made here is Ross and Henry and some others
come out for piked in, but the applause here is
for the final senior remaining in the game, Blake Hoops
checking out. They had a big night for the seniors,
Hoops with fifteen KB, Perkins with ten some block shots
(01:19:49):
and a whole bunch of rebounds, and Cayden cut right
with twenty one done here at home, but still a
lot of basketball the been left to be played in
a Sherman jersey, and as the pass from pikedn goes
out of bounds and as Sherman's will get it back
with one oh one left up seventy to forty eight, Get.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
Sure I don't have a number twelve on my roster
for U Nioto? Do you?
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
I do not? Can Mitchell left block here for the
Shermans through some traffic puts it in nice moved there
from Dawson Mitchell, the tall junior. It's first two tonight.
I don't have a twelve on either of my rosters.
(01:20:44):
Here for the Shermans. There's a little scoop up and
under and it goes in for the foul three point
play opportunity here for Brandon Conkle, the sophomore in for Pikedon.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
That was a nice move up and under and gave
it a chance to go in, got it high enough
on the board Calson.
Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
Mitchell picks up his second foul, which I believe he's
now the only Sherman to have more than a foul
here tonight. There haven't been many. And the free throw
no good and Mitchell the rebound for Uniota. Thirty seconds left.
Aden Cox springs it up the floor here for the
Shermans now left wing backhead of the key and Isaac
(01:21:25):
coy as sophomore, will handle as Bowlan Hitchins comes out
to guard. Dressed in bowling Hitchins. Now the ten seconds
left and a foul called by.
Speaker 3 (01:21:41):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
It's dressed in bowling Hitchins trying to play tight defense
there up about the half court line.
Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Hey wants to uh play hard to the end.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Nine point five seconds left, twenty two point Sherman lead
Well then bound here too long and he doesn't even
have to get it across half court here and that'll
do it. As the fans come to their feet, and
for the second straight year, Uniyodo has clinched at least
(01:22:11):
a share of the Sada Valley Conference title. They beat
piked In here tonight seventy two to fifty, and the
Shermans advance to seventeen and three now twelve and one
in the SVC. Pike In falls to five and sixteen,
now four and ten in the SVC, and Unioda will
play Tuesday at Amanda Clear Creek and then at piked
(01:22:33):
In or rather excuse me, at Peyton Valley a week
from tomorrow, and a win there would give them the
outright title here this season in the SVC again seventy
two to fifty. Unioto beats piked In back to talk
about it more and talk of the coaches after this.

Becker, You're gonna go to high school. Final score here
tonight the Sherman's defeat the in Red Streaks seventy two
to fifty. So after a bit of a slow start,
the Shermans pull out a twenty two point win to
clinch's share of the Sado Valley Conference title for a
second straight season, and after a non league game on
Tuesday demanded Clear Creek, they'll have a chance to win
(01:27:18):
the conference outright at Paint Valley down in Bainbridge a
week from tomorrow. The Sherman's now seventeen and three, twelve
and one in the SVC. Looking at the scoring in
tonight's game, first for piked In they were led by
Bo Henry, no surprise, We had seventeen points, nine points
from Luke Gullion, four each from Mason Thacker and Trevin Shanks,
(01:27:41):
five points from Leyton Kelly, six from Noah Ross, three
from Jace Ritchie and two they're late from Brandon Conkle.
For the Shermans, it's twenty one from senior Caden Cutwright
big night for him, fifteen from Blake Hoops, also a senior,
Kabe Perkins senior with ten tonight, fourteen from the junior
(01:28:03):
point guard Blake Fitch, six from Jack Welch, a couple
of three balls from him, and two each from Jackson
Zikafus and Dawson Mitchell. Scoring wise by quarter, Unyodo outscores
piked in nineteen to fifteen in the first quarter, They
outscore m fifteen to nine in the second quarter to
(01:28:23):
take a ten point lead at thirty four to twenty
four at the break. Then they outscore piked in eighteen
to eleven in the third quarter to go up fifty
two to thirty five, and they outscore piked in twenty
to fifteen in the fourth quarter to take that seventy
two to fifty lead, which is the eventual final score
here tonight in lou Obviously not at times where it
(01:28:46):
didn't ever feel like everything they shot was going to
go in, which we've seen and obviously is a ridiculous
standard to try to play up to, but they still
find a way to play their brand in basketball and
kind of impost their will.
Speaker 3 (01:28:58):
Yeah, I guess you know, if you want to call
it maybe a typical UNIONO Knight defense. Not a problem.
They got after it and they made points off of
their defense. Offensively, Again, shooting wise, it wasn't great tonight,
thirty to fifty nine to fifty one percent, but six
of seventeen from beyond the arc. Much better in the
second half than the first half. But again it's the turnovers.
(01:29:21):
That's where they get their offense, and that's where they
can put runs on. As we talked about that run
at the end of the first half, fifteen to four
run really propelled them to this victory here tonight, and
again that's what we've seen out of Unioto typically, their
defense is what really knocks teams off of their game. Python.
(01:29:44):
I thought they shot the ball well, they shot it
over fifty percent, but again it was those turnovers and
then they capitalize on those turnovers. That's the other thing
they capitalize and they're able to score on your turnovers.
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
Yeah, a lot of people talk about turnovers and kind
of the headline there is well that you know, gets
the ball the other way and gives the other team
a chance to score, but it also takes away a
chance to score. And you talk about shooting a decent percentage,
but you still need the volume to be there, and
that's one of those things that Uniyoda defense will make
it very difficult to do. And see the players, some
(01:30:18):
of them walking around on the floor here as everyone
kind of mingles after the game. They've already got some
very stylish back to back SVC champions t shirts going
on down there. Wow, somebody brought those into the house
here confident tonight. Obviously still a couple of games to
go left in the regular season for piked In. Next
up for them, it's Tuesday at Portsmouth West that will
(01:30:39):
be their regular season finale. They didn't need to add
one of those makeup games at the end of the season,
like you know, Yodo has to with pamt Valley a
week from tomorrow. Our next broadcast here on Hernstein Hunday
coverage of the SVC here on ninety four Country will
be two weeks from yesterday, actually Thursday, February twentieth. Niyoto
(01:31:01):
first round action against Right now, it would be Logan Elm.
You're saying that you don't expect that to change, but
I guess officially opponent to be announced, but likely against
Logan Elm here in a couple of thursdays from now,
in that first round of the tournament. And you know
the old adage of the second season, once you get
(01:31:22):
to that point, it doesn't matter what you did prior
to it, right.
Speaker 3 (01:31:25):
Yeah. And with the change of you know, tournaments and
things like that, they're gonna play their first round game here,
so it'll be at Unioto and that'll be a plus.
You know, they get to play one more game here
in the gymnasium. So and it's also good that, you know,
we expanded divisions. You know, Zane Trace, Unioda aren't in
the same divisions, things like that. So it'll be fun.
(01:31:47):
We'll see some of these teams get chances against other teams.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Try now by Sherman head coach Matt Colms, coach, congrats
on the win, Congrats on taking a title here a
share of the title for now in the SVC. I
know though that you're probably got that coach praying going
and thinking, well, we're not done yet.
Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
Are we?
Speaker 18 (01:32:06):
Well, no, we don't, yeah, you don't, you know, not yet.
We got another league game next week, we got a
non league game tuesday. But yeah, it was good. It
was good to see our kids come out. There's a
lot of emotion obviously in this game to night well
senior night and with stuff for Jude Little and what
he meant to these seniors. I didn't know how we
react to that. Obviously, thought for the most part pretty well.
But Piketon has been really really good this year in
(01:32:29):
the first and second quarter, and uh, they were again
the night I thought, especially the first quarter. Yeah, and uh,
they're a hard team to shake early. And then I
felt like as the game we're on the pace. Maybe
and I don't I don't want to speak for coach,
but the pace and maybe our ball pressure, you know,
maybe made a little bit of a difference.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Yeah, they gave you guys a few fits early on,
especially in that first quarter. Like you mentioned, in terms
of getting the ball to go down the hoop, you
got some open looks, but not like we've seen a
few times this year where you guys, it feels like
when you put it in the air, it's going to
go down. But because of the rest of the way
you guys play, when the defensive end and in your
transition game, you feel like that can kind of always
pull you out of a hole.
Speaker 18 (01:33:07):
Yeah, I mean that's what we depend on. Obviously, it's
a defensive end, you know. It's when we don't play defense,
we're just not the same team. Look at the first quarter,
give some credit to them because they hit shots, but
we also were so aggressive. We just got back to
our cunt of bunch, got beat off the dribble bunch
in that first quarter. And you give a team fifteen
points in the first quarter, that's not good. But yeah,
(01:33:30):
I mean we hang our hat on our defense. The
offense is great when we have it, but we'd like
to think we can win by guarding people too, hopefully.
Speaker 3 (01:33:37):
Coach, I thought the second quarter there, you went on
a nice run, they went up twenty to nineteen, and
then you ended the quarter of fifteen to four run.
I thought that was the big key in this game tonight. Yeah,
I did, two.
Speaker 18 (01:33:50):
I mean it was you know, things were really really
even to that point. I thought that ending there, like
you said, was big, you know, and then we were
able then to kind of in the third quarter on
a pretty good note too. Other than gave up the
three to Henry there. I thought he shot the ball
really well for a big kid today. But uh yeah,
other than that, I thought we ended the third quarter
(01:34:11):
pretty well too.
Speaker 3 (01:34:12):
Yeah, he's in a matchup, uh you know problem. I
mean because when he can step out and how about
KBS stepping out here tonight and hitting a three for you?
Speaker 18 (01:34:20):
Yeah yeah, yeah, let's say that's how that's not fool's goal,
you know, no, he's listen, it was. Kv's been great
for us this year, talking about a kid who had
guts enough to even play coming off that knee injury,
being already being a sign, you know, signing a baseball scholarship. Uh,
still wanted to be with his team, still wanted to play,
(01:34:41):
and we wouldn't be where we're at without him. I mean,
he's he's a difference maker and uh, you know, really
happy for him and the other seniors tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:34:47):
Yeah. I really enjoyed watching those two battle inside. You
don't see too many big guys anymore, and I really
enjoyed watching those two. Uh, you know, go at it.
Speaker 18 (01:34:56):
Henry's really really good. I mean his uh, he's really
he's old school. He knows how to seal and he's
well coached, obviously, but he knows how to seal the post,
like if you front him, which we did tonight, he'll
stick his button after the lab. If you play behind him,
he'll just bury you. So uh, he's yeah, he's an
extreme and then if you can step out and shoot,
he becomes a really difficult match up at that point.
Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Well, coach, moving forward to you know, you have a
non league game Tuesday, and then you got your league
game on Saturday. I think it's good that you can
keep your kids focused here here in the last week
of the season with the stuff still to play for.
Speaker 18 (01:35:29):
Yeah, you know, originally it was supposed to be Tuesdays
our last game, and and honestly it worked out I
think for the best having another game because we don't
play in the tournament again until Thursday, so we would
have had about a nine day break. This will keep
us more on a normal more of a normal sort
of you know, rhythm or I guess. But obviously it's
a tough games. We've got to go on the road
to Paint Valley. But I think playing is better than
(01:35:51):
sitting around for those days.
Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
It sure is. Well, coach, we appreciate you coming up.
We enjoyed watching you all year long, and we're gonna
enjoy watching you more as we go into the tournament.
All right, thanks guys, thank.
Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
You big thank you to Matt COLEMs, the head coach
of the Unioda Shermans, and congrats also the athletic director here.
So we shot him a text a little bit earlier
and say, hey, we're going to be there and make
sure always that we have our spot up here in
the top of the bleachers and everything that we need,
along with a couple other media sources here tonight. So
it was a packed house here at Unioto as the
(01:36:24):
Shermans get the seventy two to fifty win over the
piked in Red Streaks and clench a share of the SVC,
and as we mentioned a couple of times, a chance
to win it out right coming up a week from
tomorrow down in Bainbridge against Paint Valley and lou You know,
we've talked about it. A typical Unigoda games. Sometimes they
shoot a little bit better than they did for points tonight,
(01:36:46):
but everything else looked pretty much par for the course.
Speaker 3 (01:36:48):
It sure did, and it was a great senior night
for them too. When you have three seniors and get
them all in double figures, that's a plus. And again
they did a tremendous job in recognizing Jude Little here
tonight and keeping him a part of this program.
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
Absolutely a reminder that coming up a little bit later
tonight we have our accurate Heating, Cooling and Plumbing scoreboard show,
So stick around for that is Vanessa and crew kind
of run down all the games from the area, get
you caught up on all the action and talk to
several of the coaches from around the area as well.
But for us here at Uniyota, that'll be it for
the night. Big thank you to Sydney Beck in studio,
(01:37:25):
Sidney newsom our producer extraordinaire. As always, Now for my
partner Loup Post, says Jacob Weiss, you're saying so long
from Uniota. Word tonight the Shermans clinch a share of
the SVC. They take down piked in seventy two to fifty.
Thanks so much for listening to Hernstein Hundai coverage of
the SVC on ninety four Country WKKJ. Joy the rest
of your night.
