at Uniota High School. I'm Shane Colmes and you're listening
to Hernstein Hundai SBC Game of the Week here on
ninety four Country WKKJ certainly have a good one for
you here this evening as the west Fall Musk Things
make the trip south down here to Uniota High School
and coach Kyle Joseph brings his Mustangs in six and

six overall but six and two inside SB Sea play.
Coach Matt Holmes and his Juniota Sherman's got off to
a little bit of a slow start at three and two,
but have since one eight straight and they currently sit
eight and one at the top of the SBC. In
eleven and two with an overall march I mentioned three

and two start for Uniota that second loss that came
back on December thirteen two these Westfall Musk Thangs, and
they played up at west Fall. West Fall beat Unioda
sixty one to fifty eight that night, with Ray and
Craig going for twenty two and twenty respectfully. Big win
for west Fall that night, and Zane Trace uniod and

west Fall finished the first half all with one loss
there at the top of the SBC. Since then, bless
Fall has dropped one more to a Dina to get
to that six and two mark. Uniota continues to roll
at eight and one, Zane Trace at seven and one.
If you'll remember this past weekend with all the weather,
the unioda Adena game got played, where the other three
SBC games at night, and they are all rescheduled on

various nights, and that's why when you view the SBC standings,
you'll see Uniota with that half game lead over Zane
Trace in the win column, although they are tied in
the lost column, and then west Fall just that one
game back in the lost column at six and two.
When you take a look back at that particular matchup
at west Fall, as I mentioned Ray and Craig that

the west Fall Guard play. If you haven't had a
chance to see them this year, they're certainly outstanding. Off
the dribble, Joey Ray comes in averaging just right around
twenty a game, which is tops in the SBC, and
it gets to the free throw line pretty frequently and
shoots it at a high rate, almost eighty percent. Brian
Craig is a terrific sophomore also averages up over eleven

a game. He's actually coming off of twenty eight point
performance and a win over a Huntington. So again, Ray
and Craig can really fill it up over on the
Uniota side, they do it with an incredible balance. They're
led by an outstanding point Ardon Blake Pitch. Blake Pitch
did have twenty four and that lost way back on
December thirteenth, and they have nice post presence with kad

pertains and the experience of a Blake. Hoops and Coach
Combs will run about nine different guys out there through
throughout their rotation. As I said, the packed house here
in Uniota tonight, an outstanding Friday night basketball atmosphere in
the SBC of Uniota, pet ban doing an outstanding job here.
In the pre game, they just honored the SBC champion

Uniota football squad, So Coach Hoops and his young men
honored for their success throughout the fall. They introduced at all.
They're all Lake performers, they're all district performers as well
as they're all higher performers. And again, just an outstanding
crowd here and what should be a really really important
SBC battle. As I said toward the top, Zane Tracey

sitting at that one loss. Obviously west Ball doesn't want
to give way to a third loss, and then Uniota
doesn't want to drop behind Zane Trace here as they
will end up going to Zane Trace the second half
the season. In fact, west Fall and Uniota will be
on the road. So coming up on about the six
minute mark here in the pre game, I'll step aside

the west Fall Mustangs and the Unioda Sherman's about three
minutes away from doing battle. In the opening segment there,
I talked a little personnel. Let's go a little deeper

into it here this evening, west Fall, as we SAIDs
led by the outstanding guard play of Joey Ray and
Brian Craig, Ray comes in averaging twenty a game first
in the league Craig over eleven of games. They also
have an outstanding three point shooter in Hayden Rigsby, and
then coach Joseph will go deep into the roster as well.

You'll hear the name Ethan Rose, You'll hear Brock Williams,
you hear Caleb Low, You'll hear Jacob Hicks does a
nice job as a singer. Rick Hanley, So they they'll
there'll be several Mustangs throughout the rotation there that will highlight.
As I said before, Coach Holmes will usually go about
nine deep. They were going ten deep earlier in the year.
Freshman Caden Patterson had an unfortunate injury. I believe that

happened in this Circleville game. So Uniota go about nine deep.
We've mentioned the outstanding point guard play of Blake Fitch
and then the experience of Blake Hoops and KB Perkins,
and then they'll they'll get a lot of production from
a lot of different guys. Two guys that really really
make the Shermans go it is the defensive backcourt pressure

of a cad and cut right in a Jackson Zikapoos.
They both provide outstanding on ball and good wing denial.
So oftentimes you'll hear me say those two names as
the Shermans try to contain Ray and Craig, and that'll
be an outstanding matchup to watch on the perimeter. Also
for Uniota, Go utilize some young guards Isaac Croy and

Jack Welch off the bench, and then the size of
David Long and Dawson Mitchell down low. So again two
teams as you would expect. We again two teams towards
the top of the league going to do it with
a little bit of depth. Certainly have star power, certainly
have really really elite, most likely all league type of talents.
But at the same time, when you separate to the

top of the league standing, you certainly understand why these
two teams are there when you look at the complete roster.
Let's take a look at the SVC standings coming into
this evening. I'd mentioned in the first segment Uniota at
the top there at eight and one, Jane Trace just
a half game back at seven and one, Westfall at
six and two, Southeastern and Paint Valley Go sit four

and elsewhere around the SVC this evening. Of course, here

from probably ten to fifteen guests a week, and obviously
last week with some of the weather, as you mentioned,
there was only the one game played throughout the area,

of the different things of staff and some of the

do the show. So we're certainly looking forward to getting
back in the studio to see me and talking to
the coaches. So again that usually starts right around ninive

And I know it's going to be Hayden Rigsby. I believe,

the second. Here for West fall Over on the Union

They'll come up here on the Uniota side of the

Terrific atmosphere on a basketball Friday night at the SBC.
It's obviously been this way in this league for a
long long time, and I'll be honest, this is probably
one of the more electric crowds and one of the
better atmospheres I've been in this year so far. Certainly
got some energy in the gym here. Juniota will be

in their home whites this sevening with the purple letters
and numerals, and then west wall side there with their
road red as we'll come out for the jump ball
here momentarily I'll be calling the action in Uniota move
the right to left, West Fall from the back and
I left the right and again they just with the

teams will will huddle up and I think we'll be
ready to be ready to go. And again that was
that was number four Hayden Rigsby. So again to clarify
for our West Fall listeners, it's Rose Williams, Craig Ray
and Rigsby. Get on the unio toa side, Perkins cut right,

Zika Fu's fitch and hoops. There will be Perkins versus Craig.
A pair of lefties is going up against it. Here
in the jump circle, the thistor walks in and we're
about ready to go as the ball tosses up in
the air and the balls type back and west Fall
will have the opening possession here to see the Brigsby

out top goes left side to Rose. Now Ray has
it on the left base line guarded by Zipa fairs
and on the drive. I think he might have stepped
on the line a little bit there. West Fall, wanting
a little bit of a hand check might have you
even had a little bit of a beach. Nonetheless, the
left foot cata in line on the drive on the
baseline and west Fall has turned over to Uniota. Unioda's

first possession of the night starts with west Fall in
a full court pressure, a little run and jump trash
as Fitch hits cut right lost it momentarily. Now Fitch
gets it back, goes right corner, Blake hoops for three
no good Perkins with an offensive rebound to win another
possession for the Shermans just thirty seconds in no score.
Bitch out top one four high set for Uniota goes

to the right elbow to Hoops. Wants to play high
low with Perkins goes down low to him. Good strong
move and Kyde Perkins gets our scoring started. Good post
feed from hoops as Perkins puts Unio on the board
too nothing. How comes west Fall. It's Craig. He rejects
a bass string. I'll spin move into the middle and
on the drive cut right bodies up and I think

for go to fall on offensive file. I originally thought
they were gonna have a jump ball, but as Craig
lowered you shoulder, the official comes in and goes with
the offensive foul. So again back to back turnovers there
for the musk things, and again Unioda will have it
in a full court situation, and again the Mustangs will
pick up in the full court man. Last time they
went with a running jump. Le's see if they do

that again. They show it a little bit now, kind
of a token man. Fitch brings it up across the timeline.
He drives all the way down the middle. He gets
to the rim, had a pretty good look at it.
Can't get it to go out comes west Fall with
the rebound. Gray brings it up for the Mustangs. Two
nothing Uniota. A little over a minute in Gray goes
hard to the left hand, gets into the middle, spin

move shot up. No good hoops of Unioda. With the rebound,
Fitch pushes it all the way down right corner. Zikafouse
will try a three no good. Craig of west wall
with the rebound and he'll look the push, drives hard
down the middle. Perkins is there on the help side.
Shot up, no good. Perkins puts a good inside position,
gets the rebound. Fitch driving hard down the middle, comes

left corner, cut right for three and you got it.
Hayden cut right running the floor, had the feet set.
The outstanding point guard play of Fitch finds him. Fitch
one of the tope of sist guys and all the
leges the must nearly a sixth game, does a nice
job of finding his back court mate there for three

five nothing Unioda. Two minutes into this one, back come
the Mustangs. They swing it all the way around. Now
it's Ridgeby on the on the left side. Now it
comes back over the right side and Ray has it.
Ray looks to go one on one. Zikafous now kicks
it over to the to the to the left side. There,
nice job by Unioda to cut off the drive. Now

Ray has it in the right corner. Should spin move
the middle splits the double team, but he lost the outcomes.
Fitch of Uniote's got numbers, drops a bounce past the
cut right and he lays it in time out west
Fall and it's a short one. We'll stay here. Seven
nothing UNIODA five twenty one first quarter, and again it's

been the ability of Uniota to get the defensive stop
and then get out in transition. I highlighted the point
guard play of Blake Fitch. It comes in right around
five and a half to six assists tonight, and that's
been on display here in the early going. First he
finds Cayden cut right in the left corner for a three.
That time give Perkins a lot of credit defensively, and

they were able to get out in the transition, and
Fitch had Numbers drop the bounce pass and cut right
later then, So two for Perkins, five for cut right,
seven nothing Uniota And as the teams come back on
the floor, it'll be Westfall basketball and Rail bring it
up one on one against Zickafoos. Ray across the timeline,

drives hard to the right hand. Stiffen go now gets
all the way to the rim ball knocked. Alay goes
to the left corner three ball there from Rigby, no
good out comes. Uniota hoops drops a bounce passing the
coast to fix his turnaround jumper short Perkins on the
offensive glass back out for an elbow jumper for cut right,

no good and Zikafou's working hard on the offensive glass,
but I think maybe a little too hard as he
came flying over the back of Jacob Hicks, who had
nice inside position there. And it's going to be an
offensive foul on Zickafoos. His first team first ball is
back over to west Folk seven to nothing, Uniota four

forty four first quarter, left side, it's Rigsby up top,
it's Williams. Tried to hit Hicks all the way down
in the left corner on a looked like a flare screen,
let him a little too far and it goes flying
into the Unioda cheerleaders and another spern Over is going
to give it back to Unioda. Fits trapped in bounds
here now with the cut right, throws the diagonal to

break the ten kilt to Ziccafous and he'll toss it
back to the point guard Fitch that we'll get Unioda
situated out top. Perkins now it's left side cut right.
Looks like they want to isolate Perkins down on the block.
They get it to him, shot up, no good. Pretty
good defense there from Hicks. Outcomes ray A westfal Gray
across the timeline. Lost that momentarily got it back. Pretty

(21:36):
good hands there from Zicca fous and the ball lies
free and outcomes Hoots to Unioda with it. He kicks
it all the way over the left side, cut right
for free. No good follows his own shot, gets hit back,
lay up, no good. Now Gray just swings it or
excuse me. They swing at one hand and he goes
Risby all the way down to Ray. That was outstanding
and Joey Ray lays it in and things on the board.

(22:00):
Now Unioda seven to two, three point thirty eight first quarter.
Fitch brings it across the timeline, beats his man, gets
all the way to the rim, lips up a left
handed lay up, misses everything again, out comes Westfall. Poor
transition defense for Uniota. Rigsby had it at the rim.
He lost it, man, I think it's going to go

(22:23):
out of bands and you give it back to Unioda.
Just some sloppy back and forth shot selection and play
there is at seven to two Uniota three twenty five.
I think both coaches probably not thrilled with the shot selection.
Coach Colmb's not very happy with the transition defense or
floor balance on those last two possessions. Isaac Cooley into

(22:48):
the game for Uniota and he faces the trap. Now
he gets Pitch up to Perkins to break the count,
dumps a nice little pass inside the Fitch and his
shot is up. No good, but he's going to get
hit on the wrist and he's going to get a
chance to go to the free throw line. So again
west Fall coming out of the full court man utilizing

(23:09):
the trap, a little bit of a running jump look
and at that time and the breaker Bitch able to
hit Perkins, and when he cuts down the middle, he
gets it by up and gets foul. Blake Fitch's first
free throw attempt is good eight to two Uniota three fourteen.
First quarter. Fitch will get another. That one is also good.

(23:36):
Blake Fitch shoots at nearly ninety percent top free throw
shooter in the leg, so certainly a place that they
want to keep him off the free throw line. By
comes west Fall. It's Ray looking to go one on
one against Coy. Shot up. Hoy locks the shot, but
Ray gets it back out top. It's Rose. Rose penetrates
hard down the middle and he loses it. Out comes

(23:57):
Fits of Uniota with the steel crossover move, gets to
the middle, kicks it left corner to Blake hoops and
his three pointer goes all the way in and comes
out rebound for the Mustangs. Back comes Craig the other one.
He's guarded closely by cut right. He rejects the ball
string from Hicks, tries to go baseline. The cut right

(24:18):
cuts him off. Back out Hicks. He'll try a three ball,
no good good good box out there from Blake hoops
of the Unioda for the rebound, and back come the Shermans.
Bitch'll look the push. Nine to two Uniota to twenty
first quarter. Bitch hands off the cut right, cut right.
He's the ball string from Perkins now gives way to Fitch.

(24:40):
Fitch turns and pitches at the koy in the left
corner out top cut right. His penetration drops a bounce
past the pup and shot his block and out comes
Ray of the Mustangs. They'll look the push. He crosses
over the middle, gets all the way to the rim
and lays it in with the left hand. Nicely done.
In transition. Joey Ray, as I said, twenty a night
leads SBC in scoring. He's already got four nine four Unioda.

(25:06):
First quarter. As Unioda comes back on the offensive possession,
Cutwright gives way to Hoops. Hoops dribbles with the left
hand from the point over the wing, tries to hand
it off to Fitch. Ray did a pretty good job
of blowing that up. But Fitch does get it back. Now,
Fitch on the drive a little bit, and on the drive,
I think they got him lowering the shoulder, said, he

(25:29):
leaned in a little bit, got him on the offensive file,
So Blake Fitch his first individual fouls the team second,
both coaches going to the bench there. Nate Wolf of
Westfall makes his first appearance. Dawson Mitchell of Uniota nine

(25:50):
Uniota one twenty nine first quarter. Rigsby of Westwall brings
it up across the timeline, goes diagonal to the left
wing with Craig. He thought about the three. Now on
the drive, lay up, no good Mitchell, he just checks in,
comes away with the rebound. He's trapped there, does a
good job of getting off the Fitch and Uniota could

(26:10):
have numbers if they go and Fitch on the on
the dribble there is filed. I think they're gonna get
Nate Woolf with his first file third west Fall team
file of the quarter. So not quite time to go
to the free throw line, so just be a side
out of bounds for Shermons. Uniota with a nine to

four lead and the basketball. Fitch has it out top,
looks back to coach Combs. Now they have what they want.
They go well one four high set. Fitch gives it up.
Now it goes down to the post. Good help in
the post. They skip it all the way across the
cut right his three ball, No good hicks of west
Fall with the rebound. West Fall looked to push all

the way out the rows. Good shot fake and lays
it in and right now Uniota's transition defenses really hurting them.
West Fall doing a nice job of turning defensive stops
into transition opportunities, and Rose lays it in to cut
at the nine to six Uniota buy three thirty seconds left.
First quarter. See if Uniota tries to hold for one

shot Coy has it out top. He's there with cut
right and Fitch. Now west Fall is going to send
a double team. Mitchell skips it all the way over
to hoops. Now he throws it all the way back
out to cut right twelve to shoot. Now Fitch comes.
He gets at a half court, a lot of contact
on both ends. They've let him play here in the
early going. Four seconds, three seconds Fitch on the drive,

he penetrates cut right left four hundred three.

we really enjoy doing. So as we take a look
at the first half here at Unioda to night, it's
been an extremely physical basketball game. Certainly let them play
on both ends early on. That led to some west
Fall turnovers, some west Fall drives. Playing through a lot
of contact, Uniota is able to turn some of those

stills into easy opportunities. Unioda jumped out scored the first
seven points of the game. West Fall settled in nicely
and at the end of the first quarter Unioda let
it nine to sit. Again. In the second quarter, Unioda
started a little bit of the same way, had a
nice run to start that second period. At one point,
I believe their biggest lead was twenty to eight, but

again give west Fall a lot of credit. They settle
in and they scored the final seven points of the half,
and that's where we arrive at twenty to fifteen. I
feel like both teams have had some success and transition
teams that have been able to pause the turnover or
get the defensive rebound. Both teams struggled a little bit

in their floor balance and in defensive transition. And even
though we've had a low scoring affair at twenty to fifteen,
I would say well over half of our points on
both sides come easy layups and transition. Taking a look
at some of the individual scoring, I think it'll showcase
a little bit what I'm talking about. Jackson Siicafus leads

the wafer UNIODA. He had six points all there in
the second quarter. He did have a dry, nice hard
drive and shot making a score in the scrimmage area,
but he too had to break away layups off of
defense nice passes out from kV Perkins. Cayden cuttwright scored
five points in the first half, all in the first quarter.
He did knock down a three ball Jack Welch there

in the second quarter hit a left corner of three
and then two apiece for Blake Fitch kb Perkins and
Blake Coops. Blake Fitch shot the only two free throws
of the first half for Uniota, made both of them,
so the thanks to two for two from the charity strike.

they really have done a nice job as well. Uniota
gives us just forty five points a game, and when
you take away they're two law the Miami Trades game
early in the year where they scored sixty nine, And
remember I mentioned back on December thirteenth, this West Fall
team beat Uniota sixty one to fifty eight. So you
take away the sixty nine of Miami RaSE sixty one

and West Fall and Uniota that drops all the way
to about forty two or excuse me, fifty two. And
on this seven game winning Street Grown that given up
about forty two again. So the defensive end certainly can
be too discouraging for both head coaches. But I would
imagine a lot of your halftime adjustments are talking about offensively,

how to play through some of this contact, and who
can generate some easy points coming up in about two
and a half minutes, I'll step away one more time,

about ready get third quarter action. Looks like Unioda will
bring them out the way they started with Perkins, Fitch,
Zikafu scoops and cut right west fall to be Rose, Ray,
Craig William and Rigsby Mustang possession to start the second half.

(52:41):
Ray has it, goes it over the right wing to
Rigsby and he lost control of it and the ball
goes into the back court and is across it's the
half court. Going to have a back court violation, and
we're going to turn it back over to Uniota side
out of bounds, right in front of the scores table
for Unioda. A little bit sloppy on the inbound, but
they get it nonetheless. Now Fitch has it that went

left side to cut right, now has it back up
tie high post entry to hoops. They go high low
game for Perkins, dumps it off to a cutting Fitch
outstanding cut without the basketball there from Fitch and give
Perkins and assist on a nice little dump off that
layup makes it twenty two point fifteen Uniota lead to seven.

That comes Ray forces his way down the paint with
the right hand dribble now gives way to Williams and
Zickafoos comes in from behind, knocks it away. Lay up
on the other end, No good. Cut Right working hard
to come and get it, and he's filed on the
foot back, So again Zickafoos with a still on one end.
Pretty good effort from west Fall to get back and
challenge the Zicka Foos lay up, but also give cut

Right the credit of Unioda hustling and not assuming and
he gets the offensive rebound in his foot back. No good,
but he is filed. As I mentioned, both teams shot
just two free throws in the first half, and now
Caden cut Right, the senior guard, will go to the line.
He's a seventy five percent free throw shooter for Uniota,

and he makes the first one twenty three point fifteen,
Uniota lead to eight. Cutwright will try to push it
to nine and he does free throw good twenty four
to fifteen. Little less than a minute in here in
the third quarter, Craig of west Fall brings it up
against the ball pressure of cut Right across the timeline,

dribbles through the legs, Now looks over the bench. Now
west Fall seems to have what they want, enters a
right wing. It's Ray rejects the ball screen from Williams.
Zicka Fous keeps them in it. Tried the baseline kick
and Fitch picked it off. How comes Blake Fitch. He
goes left side Zicka Fuse. He skips it all the
way across the hoops Hoops dries the baseline behind the back,

now throws it diagonal to the corner and Cayden cut
Right knocks it down for three all movement back and forth,
giveing Hoops the penetration or the assist off the penetration,
and Cayden cut right knocks it down and then in
the back horn. Kind of a silly foul from cut Right,
just the common foul. I believe that's just Cayden's first.

So west Fall will have at the full length. That
three ball pushes the Uniote advantage out to twenty seven fifteen,
and Ray'll bring it up one on one against Zikafous.
This has been a fun matchup throughout the evening so far.
Ray tries to go right side, good ball pressure zickafuse,
good denial cut right must Fall throws it away into

their own bench. Turnover back to the Shermans again. As
we've flipped the second half. Now Uniota is moving my
left to right as I call the action with west
Fall back to my right to left. I'm sitting top
corner opposente of the benches, opposite of the scores table,

Uniota does not have a team file in this particular quarter,
so again a little bit of a strategy there. If
Unioda chooses to you can utilize some of those backcourt

fouls just to kind of eat up some clock. Again,
when you're when you're dealing with the talent of Array
and Craig, they're so good off the dribble and they're
so hard to contain a lot of times you can
utilize a file play with some contact and bumps and
just try to contain them a little bit. And really,
with the new quarter bonus he over the last couple
of years, it's become a great strategy in terms of

time and score. So again, coming out of the full
timeout will have it on the side, and Uniota has
been a little sloppy and give West Fall a ton
of credit in their denial. Uniota have been a little
sloppy in their execution getting it in and like I said,
west Fall defensively, they have shown up all night. They've

played extremely hard. But likewise, give Unioda Defense a lot
of credit. Unioda Defense only giving up forty five points
on the year per game, and to hold this Westfall
group the thirty four to this point, especially when you
consider Ray and Craig usually get over thirty themselves. This

Certainly a good one. Here at Unioda High School, Tonight
Uniota fifty west Fall forty three. We mentioned back on

(01:42:12):
December the thirteenth, west Fall was victorious over Uniota sixty
one to fifty eight, and tonight coming in. It was
a defensive struggle. It was a game that was called
pretty loose, very physical, an offense hard to come by,
particularly off the dribble, had a lot of balls knocked away,

(01:42:32):
a lot of turnovers. Early Uniota scored the first seven
points of a game. Give west Fall credit. They settled
in here on the road in what was an outstanding atmosphere,
and Unioda let it nine to six at the end
of the first quarter. Uniota started the second quarter in
a very similar fashion. They jumped all the way out

(01:42:52):
to a twenty to eighth advantage of one point. And
again it was the Mustangs really composed and they score
the final seven points of the first half and in
halftime only thirty five total points on the board. As
Uniota let in twenty to fifteen. Into the third quarter,
Unioda got it going in a little bit. It was

(01:43:14):
a back and fourth of action. By the end of
that quarter, Uniota had stretched its lead. They doubled it
up from the twenty fifteen halftime advantage to thirty five
twenty five, and then early fourth quarter, I believe Unyoda's
biggest lead was forty two to twenty seven. But again
back comes Westfall. They just want not go away. It's

(01:43:34):
so impressed with their grit and their toughness and their
overall effort. They continue to come out Uniota forcing several turnovers,
getting some transition opportunity of their outstanding junior guard Ray
got going. Unioda had held him in check most of
the night, and then he really got loose in the
fourth quarter. I had him un officially right up around eighteen. Again,

(01:43:55):
these are so unofficial that will get the more official
totals from the co coaches and try to get those
to you later on, but nonetheless had him unofficially there
at right around eighteen. Over on the Uniota side, Blake
Fitch had an outstanding second half. He was held to
just two free throws in the first half that he
scores thirteen of his fifteen there in the second half,

(01:44:20):
including an overall night of seven out of eight from
the free throw line, and again Uniota wins at fifty
forty three. I think we're gonna have Coach Combs come
up to join us here and Matt ahead and get
those on there. I'm not going to pretend to know
that I have all the technology set up right here.

Sidney keeps me straight back in the studio. I think

I just give Wesfaul a lot of credit. I thought,
you know, they just can continued to come at you.
I thought you guys threatened to put him away about
three four different times, and as you'd expected with two
teams there at the top of the standings, they just

refused to go away, and they continued to come at you.
But you got to feel good that your kids stayed
with it too. Just before I get into some of
the details, give me give me your thoughts on your
initial reaction after this one just relieved.

Speaker 24 (01:45:21):
As my initial reaction, I do think you got to
give credit to our kids defensively tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:45:26):
I thought we did a.

Speaker 24 (01:45:27):
Great job on Ray and Craig. I don't know what
they had, but I thought we did whatever they had
they had to earn, you know they. I thought we
did a great job on them. The first time they scored.
I bought forty two between them, you know, so give
a lot of credit to first of all, are two
guys that do a lot of that, Caden and Jackson.

(01:45:48):
But I thought Isaac Coy did a great job on
Craig when he get subbed in. Jack Welch, I thought
we had and I thought David Long gave us great
defense off the bench tonight. We ended up going to
him in the second half because his defense was so
good and he hit a pick three, which normally isn't
you know, his thing, but but so it was. We
wouldn't have won that game without our bench tonight. But

(01:46:08):
I but I am proud of our defensive effort as
a whole. Even with a little bit of a melt
down there at the end and a couple of breakdowns,
we gave up forty three points. You're gonna win a
lot of games. We didn't play real well offensively, but
but but defensively, defense saved this to mont.

Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
Well, you know, Matt, you talk about defense and you
come in only giving up forty five points a game,
and if you eliminate the sixty nine against Miami Trace
and the sixty one when you lost the West Fall
the first time, that number goes down even more. I
think on your seven game winning streak now eight, your
your average is right around forty two. So you you
mentioned it on the on the defensive side, you you

(01:46:44):
kind of talked about what my very first question was
gonna be, the ability to go ninety. And as I
watched your team earlier in the year to now that
this seems to be a little bit more role identification,
talk to me a little bit about that because you
you mentioned little bit there in your first answer. Your good.
Not equal minutes necessarily, but you're getting some equal contribution
one through nine, and it's really starting to pay off

(01:47:06):
for you.

Speaker 24 (01:47:08):
Yeah, definitely, I mean it has paid off for us
big time, because you know, a lot of teams are
in that situation where if the if the guys they're
depending on don't get it done on a certain night,
they just have to go with it and hope. And
I'm in a situation where if guys aren't getting it done,
we can we can go to somebody else. We had
a couple guys at night that probably struggled a little

(01:47:28):
bit more than the usually do, guys that have been
great for us, you know. Unfortunately, you know, it comes
a point you can take them out for a few minutes,
let them regroup, and then that's when your your depth
shows up. So yeah, you're right. I mean, you know,
it can be challenging playing nine guys. We were playing
ten before one got hurt, and that can be challenging.
Everybody wants to play more minutes. I get that, but

(01:47:50):
I've tried to tell these guys all year long, our
depth is going to be at the end of the day.
What a big part of our success.

Speaker 1 (01:47:56):
Well, I wanted to talk to you a little bit
about KB Perkins the pastor tonight. You know, you're utilized.
It was such a physical game that a lot of
times you got some some touches down low. Give west
Fall credit, they were sending some extra help. And I
thought the guards as the night went on really started
to play off him and cut a little bit. KB
is a really unselfish kid.

I thought he really helped as a pastor this season.

Speaker 24 (01:48:15):
Yeah, he's done that all year. Sometimes he passes too much.
I mean, you know there's times he catches in there.
We really want him to go to work. Tonight was
pretty physical, I thought, I mean, you know what I
mean saying both ways. I thought KB made some really
nice moves, and you know, I mean it's physical. A
couple of them didn't go in and you know, so
then you adjust, and I thought he made a nice adjustment.
He hit Jack Welch on that little back door cut

late in the game. I thought that was a big
basket just when we needed it in the fourth. And
because you're in that situation in the fourth where you
don't want to just stand there and hold it and
be timid, but you don't want to be in a hurry.
So it's that And that's the other thing. Our time
and scores improved a lot throughout the season, and I
think that was big tonight.

Again. Well, a big part of that your your point guard.
I mentioned on the air, Blake Fitch. I mean, what
a weapon when you get in that time and score
situation to have a point guard that can dribble it
that way. But b is also a ninety percent free
throw shooter and I had him unofficially seven for eight
from from the free throw line. I think five or
six of those there in the fourth quarter, made his

last four to kind of put it away. Talk to
us about that weapon you have there at the point,
Oh yeah, I mean no doubt.

I mean you have a point guard who's played three
you know, he's what almost three four seasons into his career.
Now that's always going to be big. You know, you
can't because that experience just can't replace. So yeah, proud
of him, you know, you know Blake and Blake and
KB and you know they've done it, you know, Cayden.
I mean they've all had big games as you're Jackson
touching big games. Tonight, you know, we struggled a little

(01:49:41):
bit shooting the ball. I just we just didn't shoot
the ball real well. I thought we got We played
awfully emotional early, which I think took some bad shots,
and then then we started taking better shots. Miss those
because you've shot yourself into a slump because you took
bad shots early. And you know, we got to clean
that up in these big games. I know it's easy
to get excited. We had a great crowd tonight and
the energy, but you can't just come out here on

(01:50:01):
adrenaline and start jacking up shots at the beginning of
the game. And kind of got ourselves into a little
bit of a funk. But uh, you know, found a
way to win, I guess in the end and and
and you know it's it's an awfully big win. I'm
certainly happy.

With the Well. My last question, you stay undefeated at home,
and the good news I guess for you is is
even with some tough opponents, you at least get to
keep the white uniforms on. Yeah, I know, you got
MacLean and tomorrow night got a really good uh Leesburg
Fairfield group and then back desk, we see play next
week with Huntington, but if I'm not mistaken, all of
those at home, maybe maybe a final comment about just

would sum up the ability to get out of here
