Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tomorrow morning. That's a good anything to you. Welcome to
Frank First and Adina High School as we get set
for Hernstein. How Day coverage to the SVC here on
ninety four Country WKKJ along with Lou Postage. I'm Jacob Wise,
Sydney Newsom back in studio tonight and tonight it's the
Adena Warriors who come in at one in thirteen, one
and seven in SVC play, hosting these Zane Trace Pioneers

(00:20):
who enter at nine and two and six and one
in the SVC sant Trace trying to keep pace with
Uniyota UNIONDA with one more win, both teams with one
loss coming into SVC play here tonight. But you know,
we're halfway through January here, Lou, there's not a lot
of opportunities left to kind of make your mark in
terms of what the postseason looks like.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, that postseason's going to come up quick, especially if
we continue half weeks like we had left week where
no games basically got done and we have been on
the air since January third. So it's just good to
be back in the gymnasium doing games here and hopefully
we can keep that going as we go through January.
But yeah, it's it's going to be a quick race

(01:03):
here to the g end and this Saint Trace team
is a team that's going to have a say in
this league outcome. And right now they're a team that's
getting better and deeper because last game we had out
Landon Jerrold was able to get on the floor for
the first time and he looked good. He looked like
he had last year. The quickness was still there. So

(01:23):
this Ain't Trace team is really looking good as January
is rounding now.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
You know, important guard play is, especially at this level,
and anytime you can get a player the quality of
land and Jerrell back after missing the first ten games
with injury, comes off the bench, scores eight points. Also
had four steals in that game against Huntington, so played
pretty well, look pretty sharp by all accounts in that game.
We imagine we'll see a steady dose of him here tonight.

(01:51):
Saane Trace coming off of a sixty one to forty
win over Huntington last Friday, Gunner McCullough and Landon Robinson
each with twelve Grady Stewart Noah Houston also joined them,
scoring in double figures, so four players and double figures
in that game for Saint Trace. On the other side
of things, aDNA it's been a bit of a struggle
this year. They play hard, they I mean, they lay

(02:12):
it all out there. It's just getting the ball in
the basket has been a bit of an issue for
him this year. Seventy eight to forty two loss for
them last Friday against a very good Unioto team. Christian
Heath Joe Francis. We know those guys don't have a
lot of trouble scoring. I think Christian Heath had five
threes in that game, but those two combined for thirty
five of their forty two points in that game. So

(02:34):
if you're a team like Sant Tracy, come in, Hey,
we got to stop those two guys, and you feel
pretty good about things.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Well, you know, January third was the night that a
Dina got their first win of the season up at
West Fall, So they're a team that you know has
got that victory under their belt. You know, if they
come out here and they get hot early and stay
in this game as long as they can, it could
be a ballgame. You had mentioned those two Heath and

(03:00):
Francis also inside sophomore Colton Garrison he's a legitimate scorer inside.
And it'll be a battle in there tonight with McCulla
and Garrison. I'll be interests see how that matchup goes.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Now, we enjoyed Austin we were here was in late December,
and another young guy in the freshman Gavin Harold, who
was pretty impressive in his time on the floor as well.
So the Warriors have some young players coming through. It's
just getting them that varsity experience, getting them through an
SVC season, getting that, you know, under their belt, and
then you can kind of take off from there.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, you talk about, you know, a sophomore too, a
senior that's two years and for boys, two years can
be a big thing. I mean, yeah, you're going to
you know, grow a little bit, You're going to get
some more strength. And right now, that's where we see
these two teams. You know, Zane Trace is that mature
senior and Adena is that sophomore still growing sint Trace.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
We talk about their scoring ability and what they can
do in the offensive end, and it's been that way
for quite some time now, it seems. But defensively, allowing
just thirty nine points per game this.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Year, that's very impressive. And again it's the defense, the
lengthyness of their defense. You know, you don't think about
them being real big, but they got a lot of
guys that are about six six y two guards and
their lengthy and they can get their hands on a
lot of passes and get a lot of deflections. And
you throw the speed, like we said, Land and Gerald,
you put that in there as well. That makes it

(04:25):
really hard defensively because they can shut down some guards.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Well or about two and a half minutes away from
the opening tip off here in Frankfurt, the Adena Warriors
hosting the Zane Trace Pioneers. It's is Hernstein Hundey coverage
of the SVCO ninety four country wkk J. We'll be
back after this.

Rewards back here in Frankfurt as the Adena Warriors get
set to host the Zane Trace Pioneers here tonight it's
Heernstein Hundai coverage of the SVC. You're on ninety four
Country WKKJ. Jacob Wise with you along with lou Postage,
Sidney Newsom back in studio tonight, Saint Trace coming in

(06:23):
at nine and two right now, trying to keep pace
with the Uniodagh Shermans who are seven and one in
the SVC. Is Ain Trace we mentioned a little bit earlier,
six and one in the SVC. Westfall has lost four
games in a row after a hot start, but still
right there in that SVC pitcher at five and two.
They're taking on Huntington tonight, Southeastern. They're at four and

(06:45):
three in league play, Payne Valley three and four, Fiked
in two and five, Huntington one and six, and Adena
at one and seven. But I'll tell you what that
Unionit team, they won seven games in a row. They're
pretty hot. Looking forward again to another matchup between Unioda
Zaine Trace coming up your pretty soon too.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, that UNIODA team's really deep, that they have some
talented sophomores that are really contributing to the varsity level.
And yeah, that game was a joy to watch the
first time Unido was able to pull it out the end.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
It looks like we will pause here in just a
moment for the national anthem. A quick reminder that our
next broadcast after tonight, comes up Friday as UNIODO host
Westfall and Boys Action will have it for you here

Getting close to tip off time here in Frankfurt, the
Adina Warriors hosting the Zane Trace Pioneers here on Herstein
Hundai coverage of the SVC on ninety four country WKKJ.
About that time to have a look at the starting
lineups for tonight for the Sane Trace Pioneers and head
coach Tyler Cassidy in his first season, coming in at

(09:35):
nine to two, six and one of the SVC Lannon
Gerald's gonna get his first start of the season in
his second game of the season after being held out
from injury his first ten games. He had eight points
four steals in his first game the other night against Huntington.
Also out there Grady Stewart, a six foot four junior
Ford we'll play guard a little bit as well, Ezra Rippeth,

(09:56):
a five foot ten senior guard averaging just about nine
points per game, Landon Robinson averaging nine points per game
at six foot two senior, and Gunner McCoy averaging fourteen
point four points per game, nearly a double double he's averaging.
He's at five of them this year, six foot two
hundred and seventy pounds junior forward again for the Pioneers.

(10:17):
It's Gerald, Stewart, Rippeth, Robinson, and McCullough For the Adina Warriors,
the home team tonight, one in thirteen coming in and
head coach Ryan Olakers club looks like this to get
things started. It'll be Joey Francis the junior, along with
the junior Langston Metzger, who draws into the starting lineup tonight.
Luke Preston, the junior will go as well, along with

(10:40):
the sophomore, Colton Garrison and Christian Heath the senior and
a beggar. Pardon, it doesn't look like joe francis there.

Speaker 9 (10:49):
He is?

Speaker 2 (10:49):
He did?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I missed him. He was out there quick. They got
him quickly. I heard number one first, but it is.
It's Francis Metzger, Preston, Garrison and Heath. Thanks for the
extra eyes, lou Ame whites for the Adena Warriors. Warriors
are written out across the chest in that navy blue
with the lighter blue outline, navy blue numbers front and back,
navy blue trim around the necks and the armholes and

(11:10):
down the sides of those white shorts. For the Zane
Trace Pioneers, it's a traveling royal blue jerseys with Zaane
above the red number Trace below it red trim on
the jerseys and shorts there as well. The tip in
the air, and it's won by Adena. So as we
get underway here, the Warriors will get first possession as
they move left to right, ball into the right wing

(11:30):
for the Warriors. Now back out front, Garrison up top
throes into the left wing. They try to find Francis
has the ball knocked loose, but it's picked up there
right of the lane by Colton. Garrison puts it on
the floor, that'll spin back in the middle of the lane,
tries to work back to the block. Ass shot partially
blocked by McCullough. Now goes back to the basket and
a charge is called. As McCullough takes the charge and

(11:51):
Garrison will draw the first foul of the game.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yeah, very good aggressive man and man defense by Zane Tracing.
A great job there of McCullough. You know, he he
basically drew that foul. He knew that Garrison was going
to go hard to the bucket and he basically h
just took it. And that was a great job.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
So Zane Trace with its first possession down to our
left ball in the right wing entry pass right the
lane to mccallony and puts it up and in from low.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
On the right. What a great plass there a bout
Land and Gerald finding the better shot instead of settling
for a three.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
So two nothing Zane Trace seven twelve just underway here
in this first quarter from Frankfurt and aDNA having trouble
getting it across half court. Now they finally do. Into
the left corner is Garrison, who holds it higher for
his head. Ezra Rippeth comes out to guard him. Here's
a long three shot from the first row of the
bleachers from Joe Francis, too strong off the glass rebound

(12:44):
Saint Trace and trying to push it forward. Jerrold passed
it off of a aDNA player's foot, or they do
say it went off of a Zane Trace player's foot
and out of bounce back to a Dina.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yeah, he thought Robinson was going to go all the
way to the bucket and Robinson didn't. Thus out of
bounds to.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Six forty three left here, first quarter two nothing Zane Trace.
Here is steal near half court, taken away by Grady Stewart,
but unable to find the handle, ends up going out
of bounds. It'll stay rather go right back to Adena,
so no harm, no foul there.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yeah, exactly what I've talked about in the opening. Get
a lot of hands on a lot of passes and
get a lot of tips.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
That lanky athletic defense from Zane Trace makes it tricky
for anyone entry pass here low on the right to Garrison,
kicks it back out, Heath puts it on the floor,
a long two jumper, too strong, rebound fought for, and
finally McCullough controls for the Pioneers, pushes back up the
floor Robinson and into the right wing. Stewart drimples back
to Robinson right point, back to Stuart right wing, fires

(13:44):
the three knocks it down.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Tell you what does Zane Trace Keating can really shoot
it and if they get on a roll, they can
make a bunch in a row.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Grady Stewart a forty eight three point shooter coming into
tonight as the team. Sane Trace shooting at forty percent
from beyond the arc this year. Here's the steel at
half court. Gerald steps in front of a pass, dumps
down a little on the left, in a little pass
across the lane to McCullough who's open on the right block.
He puts it in for his second basket and it's
seven to nothing. Sane Trace with a five point fifty

(14:12):
left here in his first quarter, and Adina, we'll take
a time out. We will as Well. You're listening to
Hernstein Hunday coverage of the SVC on ninety four Country.

Speaker 12 (14:20):
WKKJ presenting a gain Flings love story. Dear love of
my life. We were on the twelve B bus this
morning when I caught a whiff a scent so fresh,
so life changing. I had to find its source, Alas.
I didn't know if you were the woman in the
pink Fresheny washed cart again or the retired mailman next

(14:42):
to me, but I knew one of you was my soulmate. Ah,
the scent of gain Flings Try game Flings with oxy
boost and fabrize.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Seven nothing is the lead for the Sane Trace Pioneers
off to a hot start early still here in this
first quarter at Adena and Lou Again. You talked about
it in the open, that long, lanky, athletic defensive play
from Saint Trace has created offensive.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Opportunities exactly, and that's you make the most of those
opportunities that you get. And they have done so, three
for three shooting here to start the game seven to
nothing lead.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So Atina will inbound it from down to our left
and trying to work against the Sane Trace press. Can
I do pass it backward and now finally get it
across the timeline to Metzger, but he's trapped in the
near side corner at half Port has the ball taken
away by Stewart one on two back the other way,
had it knocked loose, and Heath comes away with it
for a dina. Five and a half left first quarter.

(15:48):
Francis dribbling into the right wing back to the basket,
gives it back up Heath right point Stewart out to
guard him driving. Heath has his pass tipped away but
it stays with a dina. Back to the top of
the key with it now, Francis, spinning off of a defender,
throws underneath, finds an open Garrison, who puts it up
and in from low on the right.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Yeah, Colton Garrison. He's really developing into a good offensive player.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
As it's afire, so seven to two is the Saint
Trace lead now as Stewart handles for the Pioneers in
the left wing, gives up Jerrel between the rings, sets
up a new play ball left wing. Rippeth now head
of the key McCullough and over to Landon. Robinson in
the right wing tries an entry pass looking for Ripith,
I think down on the block expecting him to come out,
but it was tipped out of bounds. So Saint Trace

(16:32):
will inbound from under their own basket. Jerald will be
the mbounder here on the far side of the lane.
Throws high and way out near half court, and somehow
Stewart able to haul it down. They get it underneath
the McCullough. His shot goes in and out. Rebound Rippith
bounce pass back into the left wing. Jerreld for three.
That's short off the side of the rim. Rebound fought four.

(16:54):
McCullough pulls it down under the basket and now a
pass almost taken away by Metzger of Adina, but it
goes off his hand back to Stuart for Zane Trace.
He misses her three from the right wing, and finally
it's pulled down by Heath for a Dina.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Three shots at it there for Zane Trace couldn't get
any of them to fall.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Francis, driving for Adena, kicks it back out ahead of
the key. All the shoe popped off of landed Metzger's foot.
He's dribbling with one shoe, one sock, and finally nearly
slipped in. The official just blew the whistle and said, no,
we're gonna not let this carry on.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Wow. Kind of surprised a little bit by that. I
am surprised that the official did blow it. Evidently he
thought there wasn't anything going on there. He wasn't at
the point where he could have lost a possession or
anything like that, so he said, hey, let's just make
sure it buy's okay.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
So they take Metzger out for a moment, put in
Gavin Harold for the Warriors, and bound here they go
back up top of the key Preston who gets back up. Frances,
trying to direct traffic with his off ball hand now
trying to drive right side of the lane, jumps out
into the right wing. Heath will dribble it back out
to the right wing, pull up jumper for three too
strong and the rebound to Grady Stewart For Saint Trace.

(18:04):
He wants to run right to left cross court, pass
back this way to rip it to the left point.
Now down the right side of the lane, Stuart hanging
Runner goes off the top of the glass for Grady Stewart.
He has five and the sane trace lead is nine too.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah. Great, drive there by Stewart and don't just give
or shoot. The three attack it all the way to
the bucket. He was able to ooh, that's a lot.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
It's over and back, Yes it is.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Yeah, they've they've done not a good job here of
the press offense. They've caught themselves a lot of time
right there at the half court line. In that time
it was too close and he threw back over. It's
gonna be a turnover.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
He beat a press with what with pace and passing.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
It's been a whole lot of pass and it's almost
hesitancy right.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Yes, the passing they had has been side to side.
It's not getting down the floor.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
So here's the ball knocked loose and taken away by
aDNA Christian Heath able to come away with it, gets
it ahead Francis into the right wing, behind the back dribble,
nearly lost it along the sideline. Tight defense played here
by Rippeth, and they do say that the ball or
the foot one of the two hit the sideline there
and they'll turn it back over to Zane Trace. So
we've got that pressure defense this time from Ezra Rippeth

(19:17):
causes the turnover.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Yeah, offense against Zane Trace are very difficult if you're
trying to do one on one moves. They are a
very difficult team to play against because they guard the
ball so well.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Pioneers lead nine to two, three zero five left her
first quarter at a Dina right wing Robinson gets by
a defender jumper from inside the right wing and he
knocks it down for two.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
So Landon Robinson is one of the most unsung players
here in this league. He just does so many good
things for your team and he's always under control.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Again, aDNA having some trouble getting it across half court
and into a trap situation and they lose the basketball.
Stuart comes away with it two one one will take
it himself and it'll get the charge.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
The job there by Joey Francis and getting back and
getting that opportunity to take a charge. But yeah, they're
they're really having a struggle against this and really it's
it's almost a token pressure here, nothing really until they
get to half quart is when they really put it on.
But seven turnovers so far here by aDNA.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
It's it's different to look at it from up where
we are. But there was a point in the last
time across. They could have just dribbled it across, but
they're just stuck looking for the pass and now a
travel violation to be called. As Kevin Harrold was trying
to employ the old Lebron James with crab dribble, I.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Don't know what those euro step and stuff like that.
Eurostep to me is a travel so whatever, that's what
they called.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, two twenty three left here in this first quarter,
eleven to two. Zane Trace in control ball right wing,
Robinson for three short off the side of the rim.
Ball bounces over the rim and the rebound, controlled by Preston,
gets it to a teammate who gets it right back
to him and now pressedon across half hort Stripe passes
from the free throw line to the right wing. They
get it back to Heath and it's short off the

(21:01):
side of the rim and Robinson the rebound for saying
trace hard passed forward to McCullough who's able to control
it after an awkward bounce. Now the right wing, Rippeth
gives it back up Jerald right wing backhead of the
key as he dribbles into the right corner. Now Rippeth
through three too strong off the back of the rim
and the rebound heath for a Dina.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, that was really good ball movement there by zaying
Trace getting an open three, just wasn't able to hit.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
It out of the key. Here Harold gives up left
wing Preston Houston out to guard him closely, and now
onto the left corner with it as Francis holds it
over his head. Throws a hard entry pass left of
the lane to Garrison, who nearly dropped it. Carrals it,
takes a dribble, throws back ahead of the key and
now into the right winging with it as Gavin Harold
into the right corner. Now Preston entry pass toward Garrison

(21:48):
and it rolls off of him and then off of McCullough,
who is trying to deny that entry pass. So to
stay with a Dina.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
I'll tell you what those entry passes are going in there. Awfully,
Hall they are. It's almost like it's an angry pass y.
Gotta get a little softer, give your post guy a
chance to catch it.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
One p seventeen left, first quarter eleven to two. Saint
Trace on top entry here off the inbound pass to
Garrison to the right of the lane and a low
pass here out top to Harold able to control it
near that adena Warrior's logo at centered circle, and how
Francis will control and restart the offense driving middle of
the lane, hanging lets the runner go too strong off

(22:25):
the back of the rim, and Robinson with another rebound
for Saint Trace fires ahead for Rippeth driving left side
of the lane down to the block of the baseline,
kicks it back out into the corner. And how three
ball from Houston goes down from the right wing.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Now Houston has done a great job for him this year,
filling in there for Jerald. Now he's going to come
off the bench for him. Gives you some length and
some shooting ability off the bench.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Houston ten plus points in three different games this year,
gets his first points of the night again aDNA getting
it across half court, shot blocked underneath, another shot blocked underneath,
two different players had to look at it, both had
it swatted away, and Robinson comes away with it for
Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yeah, that was landon Robinson on both of those. So
again those little things you don't really see in stats.
He really fills up the sheet.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Now he's got five double doubles this year, so not
a bad run for him so far. As he goes
down the right side of the lane, kicks it back
out into the corner, Rippeth Runner can't get it to go.
McCullough has it knock the loose, but the putback missings
and the second putback goes down at the buzzer for Houston.

(23:32):
A third chance at a put back there finally goes
down for Houston and Zane Trace, and after one they
lead it here at Adena sixteen to two over the Warriors.

a Dina and Zane Trace will start with the basketball
head of the key. Stewart drives left of the lane
into the wing, now Houston and back up to Gerald.
Kind of reset how they want the offense to get
started here on the half court and just working it

(25:18):
around the perimeters so far, some screening going up out front.
Here's a three from Stewart left of the left wing
and couldn't get that to go and the rebound to
a Dina and a foul called. It's our first non
charging foul in this game. We had two in that
first quarter charge from either team.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
No no free throws yet Dina was five one of
five shooting there. They had eight turnovers there in that
first quarter. Zane Trace was six and fourteen, two of
seven from beyond the arc.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
For Adina getting it across half court, it was an adventure,
but not for the same reasons it had been earlier.
Almost had a player take a shot like a football game,
receiving a pass in the middle of the floor. But
all is good. Everyone gets it across Adena. Try to
set up that offense in the right wing preston our
backhead of the key. Heath swings at left wing. Francis

(26:11):
trying to get down inside to Harold, but he's pushed
all the way out into the corner. And now Francis
again left wing, well extended from the three point line,
will dribble it back between the rings and try to
restart the motion here for Adina, contest had passed into
the right corner, He's able to grab it. For Adina
puts it on the floor at the left hand, spins
back around, trying to enter it in and it's an

(26:32):
awkward pass that kind of went the wrong direction from
where the player was going, and it goes back to
the same trace. So Jerald wore the Pioneers off of
screenhead of the key into the right point, bounce pass
inside to McCullough gets it through traffic, but can't get
the shot to go low on the right and Adena
gets it right back.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah, great pass entry past there, but McCullough just didn't
get it high enough on the board to give a chance.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
To go in. Judah Hanks is going to pick up
a foul here for Sane Trace, really riding the ball
the ball handler for aDNA down that near sideline, so
his first Adina gets the ball in down low on
the right block. Garrison kicks it back out. He threw

(27:16):
three knocks it down from the right wing.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Yeah, that was a good inside out there. By Adena
throws it into Garrison back out the heat.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Nice shot cuts it to an eleven point game, sixteen
to five. Six minutes left here, second quarter, Zane Trace
still up big into the left corner. Three ball on
the way too strong from Jeral Now the rebound controlled
initially by Houston for Zane Trace, but it I guess
it couldn't control it. It popped out of his hand, out
of bounds, and they say he was the last to

(27:44):
touch it. So Adina will get it right back. So
again aDNA trying to find a way to get the
ball across half court. Francis tied up short of the
half court strip. Finally gets it to heath, but he's
trapped along the sideline. He gets out of that trap
and now Francis a jumper left of the lane. Too strong.

(28:06):
Tried to draw the foul. No dice back to sane.
Trace Jerald up the near side, right to left. Now
Houston gives it up right wing. Judah Hanks triubling under
the basket, kicks it back out Stear for three. Left
Wing knocks it home.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Getting nice inside out, Judah Hanks taking it inside and
throwing it outside Discord for a three.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Stewart with his second triple tonight. He has eighth now
to lead all scorers, and it's nineteen to five. Sane
trace quickly back the other way. aDNA had a man open.
It was Garrison underneath, but the passes a little bit
wide on the baseline side and Garrison unable to handle it.
But they say, Saint Trace touched that, so Adina will
keep the basketball fortunately for them.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah. Again attacking this press for Adina, they get themselves
into very difficult situations. That ball's got to get more
in the middle of the floor right now, they're either
bringing it up on a side or finding themselves trapped
right in corners. They got a good do it better
job trying to get in the ball in the middle.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
So imbound pass here to Garrison Low on the right block,
will dribble it back out into the corner and then
the right wing now at this back of the basket
has his triple stopped as he gets to Francis turn
around jumper right of the lane, knocks it home over
the head of Rippeth, who was playing some pretty good
d on him.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah, Fransics can really elevate and get that shot off quickly.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
The other way, Houston has his shot blocked by Garrison
Low on the right block. Yahda, Dina hits the basketball
right back down nineteen to seven here on their home
floor to Saint Trace trying to make a little bit
of a run at it here at the start the
second quarter, Garrison holding the ball. I'll put the head
of the key. Now wants to dribble to the right elbow,

(29:48):
stops back to the basket, bounce past to the right wing,
trying to find Metzger, who pulls it back out into
the right wing. Now they swing it around now back
out of the key, Metzker, Garrison right wing, Robinson out
to guard along the perimeter. Four minutes to play here
in this first half nineteen seven, z ain't trace leads

(30:10):
Metzger again, gets it left point and now Garrison right point.
But still not a lot of progress toward the basket
here there.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
No, it's a lot of movement and there's a lot
of wasted dribbles, I should say.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Garrison trying to get down the lane does so, but
has his opportunity to shoot it blocked off by Robinson.
And now Heath trying to drive middle of the lane,
puts it up with the left hand, but a foul
called on the floor and I think that's my second
foul on land in jail here.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
That was a good minute run off the clock there
without any penetration or anything. Good job there by heat
of attacking the middle, and that's what Adena needs to do.
Attack the middle, get the ball down low to Garrison
inside out type movements.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Francis the inbound from under his own basket, gets it
to Garrison left of the lane, hype a couple of
dribbles middle of the lane, puts the shot up and
he's fouled. It's like McCullough will pick up his first
and Colton Garrison will go to the free throw line
looking to add to his two points so far.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah, Adna's had some quality offensive possessions here at two
or three in a row.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
First shot up and short off the front of the rim.
So I feel like these are opportunities that Adina has
to take advantage of. Second one on the way and
that one short off the front of the rim as well.
And Zane trace the rebound nineteen to seven. Pioneers lead
it here at a Dina three twenty three left second quarter,

(31:43):
Robinson right wing for the Pioneers, gives it up back
to Robinson, drives rowing the right block, dumps back for
McCullough who puts it in right in the middle of the.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Lane again a great assist there by Land and Gerald
finding McCullough cutting right down the middle of the lane
for an.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
Easy It was like he was just following Robinson right
down the lane, wasn't he Both defenders went with the
one with the basketball and that left McCullough wide open.
Christian Heath now dribbling for a Dina. They swing it around.
It's Francis driving to the free throw line, gives up
Garrison head of the key. He wants to put it
on the floor. Now shut off there by McCullough really

(32:21):
chested him up there about one dribble in shut off
that drive and now into the corner with it. Is
Heath not seeing a lot of ball screens either here
Lou on the offensive end.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Yeah, And it's a lot of one on one type
movements and Zane Trace is not a team you're gonna
be able to do that with very much.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Tight past to Francis spin around jumper from the left
elbow is too strong Robinson. The rebound for Zane Trace
fires ahead for McCullough missed the open layup down low
on the left, and that ball gets knocked out of
bounds on the rebound attempt, and they'll say a Dina
touched it last. And it looks like like the Warriors
will take a time out to thirteen left her second quarter,

(33:04):
in Frankfurt. It is Saint Trice twenty one aDNA seven.
This is Heernstein Hunday coverage of the SVC ninety four
country WKKJ.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Nuns two thirteen left here in the first half in Frankfurt,
it is Zaane Trace up twenty one to seven on
the home team of Dina Warriors and the Pioneers inbounding
after the adena time out. The passes knocked loose and

(34:35):
Francis comes away with it for aDNA tries to go
coast to coast, hasn't blocked by Robinson, who now I
was about three or four blocks here in this first half.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
That was a great job of you know, not going
and swatting at it. He just went straight up with
the ball and he knocked it off of Francis and
it's going to be Zaane TRACE's ball.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
So the Pioneers will get the ball right back. And
then Robinson, I said earlier he had five double doubles
against five games in double figures, is what I'm meant
to say. It's McCulla with five double doubles so far
this year, so those two have been quite the dynamic duo.
It's mccullaugh down low here, found the loose basketball and
he puts it in and draws the foul.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Yeah, that's his eighth point of the night here, getting
ready to possibly get a nine. But again, good job
of just being the right spot, right time.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
Man, and Metzger picks up his first foul one point
fifty two left here in this second quarter.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
It's the first Zane Trace free throw here tonight.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
McCulla is seventy three percent free throw shooter, knocks that
one down to complete the three point play. He has
nine to lead everyone. Now, by the way, Saint Trace
sixty nine percent from the free throw line is the
team this year. Certainly some guys that have shot higher
percentage than that, but that's not you'll take that as
a team, right, that's not bad.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Oh, that's not bad at all. You shoot anywhere above
sixty five as a high school team, you're doing well.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Minute and a half left here in the second quarter,
twenty four to seven, Saint Trace leads here at a
Garrison left wing, McCullough out to guard him along the
three point line, and surprise, we hadn't had a five
second call there. But now Garrison, trying to dribble with
it to the right elbow, gives it up Heath right
wing behind the back dribble here as he works on
Robinson at our back out of the key, Metzker pass

(36:17):
into the right wing, nearly stolen by Houston, dump back
passed into the corner. Heath for three too strong and
McCullough looked like he had the rebound control and it's
knocked loose by Garrison out of bounds and Garrison will
pick up the foul his second.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Yeah, it's very tough here for Dina offensively, you know,
you have the turnovers right now, they have nine, but
they only have ten shots at the basket and that's
hard with one minute to go here in the first half.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Twenty four to seven is the lead for the sane
trace Stewart down the left side of the lane and
he gets the lay up low on the left. He's
in double figures with ten.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Stuart can really shoot the three, but he's done a
really good job of taking the ball to the hole
as well.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
And we had a season high twenty against Waverley back
on December seventh. He's on pace to at least equal
that here tonight. Pass here underneath the basket tipped, but
he gets the Garrison low on the right and McCullough
will be called for a Fallacy tried to block it
from behind, and Gunnar McCullough will pick up his second
foul tonight. Oh they gave it to Stewart.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Yeah, I definitely thought it was McCullough as well.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
So Stuart's second foul leave McCullough with one, and the
shot from Garrison goes down his third point tonight off
the line for a second time here in this quarter.
On the second one all the way off the side
of the rim misses, and thirty seconds left here in

(37:48):
this first half, Saint Trice with the basketball in a
twenty six to eight lead, looks like the Pioneers will
play for the last shot of the half. Here as
Robinson takes his time near that center circle, how bounce
passed into the right wing mccullor is Garrison comes out
to guard him. McCulla now puts it on the floor,

(38:09):
throws back between the rings Robinson to reset the offense.
With five seconds left on the clock and now time
out called four by Tyler Cassidy in the sand trace,
Pioneers coach Cassidy puts his arms in the air saying,
why do it takes so long? I've been screaming time
out finally gets it with five point three left, so
we'll take a short break as well. Final seconds of

(38:30):
the first half right after this ninety four country WKKJ.

Speaker 16 (38:33):

Speaker 16 (38:43):

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Just a hair over five seconds left here in the
second quarter. In Frankfurt, the Sane Trace pioneers coming out
of a time out here trying to make the last
basket going into the locker room up twenty six to
eight here in this first half. They it's not been
super clean this whole time for Sane Trace, but they've
been able to create enough turnovers and make enough baskets

(39:35):
on the defensive, and they've just made life so hard
for aDNA.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Yeah, and they're a team that you know you can
spread to scoring out. Ripeth and Gerroll haven't scored yet,
but again, any of these people are capable.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
Pasco's back across the line to one, They've got to
shoot it, and they don't get the shot away, so
they get the time out with five point three left,
they get the inbound on their side of the floor
and they're unable to get shot away. So we go
to the halftime with the score twenty six to eight
and Zant Trace on top of the Adena Warriors. Here.

(40:08):
After two quarters, we'll take a break back to kind

Speaker 1 (44:03):
Halftime here in Frankfurt, twenty six to eight is the
Saint Trace lead over the Adena Warriors. Saint Trace jumping
out to a sixteen to two first quarter lead. They
outscore Adena ten to six in that second quarter to
put it at twenty six to eight. And we are
going to jump over to the girls side of things
here for a moment. A Dina girls coach Andrew Day
joins us here. A big week coming up for your

(44:26):
team hire the next few days, right.

Speaker 21 (44:28):
Yeah, really big week. We've got Pikedon. We're at Piketon
tomorrow night and then at Huntington on Saturday night. Right now,
both all three of us are kind of jocking for
that two spot in the SBC, so.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
We've got a really important week. Yeah, well, you know
talk about I know in the first round, I think
Pikedon came up here, was able to get a win
against you guys, and you were able to get Huntington here.
This is a big week not only for the league wise,
but also when you look at tournament time. That's creeping
up on It was pretty quick. February second. I believe

(45:03):
it is a draw, So these are going to be
important games for you for that as well.

Speaker 21 (45:07):
Yeah, it is because again, both of those teams are
in our district and and right now we're all kind
of bunched together. So a team that can put together
three four wins in a row here is going to
give themselves a really big advantage heading into tournament time.

Speaker 2 (45:22):
I know, basketball, you know you like to get some
continuity going. Last week, you know, that's a tough week
when you basically lose an entire week. How many games
did you lose in that week? And did you get
them rescheduled?

Speaker 21 (45:33):
We lost two. Yeah, we play Southeastern on Monday. That's
rescheduled from Monday, and then West falls not till the
end of season. It's like February tenth or something. But yeah,
it's I think we went like seventeen days in between games,
and it almost feels like you're starting over. At that point,
you lose all sense of rhythm and cohesion and and

(45:54):
so you just don't know how you're going to come
back from that. Last night we had a game against Tilakatia.
Unfortunately we played well and it was good to get
that under our belts heading into these next two games.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
So you look at a game tomorrow night piked in.
What does a piked in team bring and what makes
it difficult for you to play?

Speaker 21 (46:13):
They have a lot of weapons. It starts with Laila
Kelly to their point guard. She can shoot from anywhere,
has the ability to drive the ball as well. Jalen Thorbes,
I don't know if there's been a player that's improved
more from her freshman to her sophomore year than her.
She's really athletic, has really started shooting the ball well.
Ariel Johnson's another. She's a senior that can shoot it

(46:36):
and drive as well. So they just you can't really
load up on anybody. You have to be able to
sit down and guard your man and keep somebody in front.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Well, when you look at the league, I mean, obviously
Uni Yodo's really above everyone else as far as talent
wise and what they've done so far. But you know
the next three, you piked In and Huntingdon are all
real close there and you've had some good games with him.

Speaker 21 (46:59):
We are, and we're all pretty similar. None of us
are super deep in terms of how many girls we play,
you kind of know what you're gonna get from everybody.
It really comes down to who's gonna execute the best
in these kind of games and h and so you know,
you prepare your girls the best you can and hopefully
in that moment they're ready to do the things they

(47:21):
need to do to win.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
And this is the time of year also you worry
about illness and injuries and things like that. How how
have your team come through that? Thankfully?

Speaker 21 (47:29):
And I'll knock on some wood here, but thankfully we've
been really healthy. We haven't had anybody miss due to
injury all season, so hopefully that that continues for us.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Oh, coach, we appreciate the time to come up here
and chat with us. I know it was an interesting
game last night and you've I'm sure you're busy getting
ready for these two big ones coming up this week.
Best of luck to you and I'm sure we'll see
you down the road here.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
Yeah, I appreciate it, guys, Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (47:54):
It's a Dina Girls coach Andrew Day with this year.
At halftime as the Boys at Deena Trail twenty six
to eight to these ain't trace Pioneers, and I know
any chance we get to to get the Adena girls
on coach Day always does a fantastic job there. They're
usually a well oiled machine. And you know also that
getting beat by two here at their place earlier in

(48:17):
the season, they want to return the favor coming up tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Ye again, as he talked about, that game last night
was very important to them, just to get on the
floor and get a game in because having all that
time off is very difficult to come back and see
how your girls are going to react. So getting that
game in last night was very important. And you know,
two big games and really then you come back home
Monday in Southeastern with the rescheduled games, so there's a

(48:40):
lot of games going to be happening in a small
amount of time, and that's going to be everywhere. We're
going to see that happening on the boys side as
well as some of these games that are getting bunched together.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
I'm sure he's thinking, boy, it's a really good week
to have a really good week, isn't it. They they
want it, They need to have it in terms of
not only the SVC picture, but also for once they
get into the postseason. Obviously the girls start quite a
bit earlier than the boys side of things, so were
talking earlier middle of January here, there's not a lot
of time to kind of improve your standing on the

(49:12):
girl side even more so.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
Yeah, those games are very important when you look at
those tournament draws and things like that. You want to
get those quality wins in there before those tournament draws.
That really helps out the seed because after that nothing changes.

Speaker 1 (49:27):
Well, let's have a look at the game we're here
calling tonight the Saint Trace Boys and a Daniel Warriors. Again,
it's Saint Trace twenty six to eight here at the half,
scoring wise for Adena two from Joe Francis in that
second quarter, three from Colton Garrison and a three ball
in the second quarter from Christian Heath, So just three
players into the scoring column for a Dina. For Saint Trace,

(49:51):
it's Grady Stewart with ten. He's had two threes in
this game, Noh Houston with five, Landon Robinson with two,
and nine points from Gunner McCullough, including a three point
play there toward the end of that first half. So
Zane Trace has some notable players that have not gotten
into the scoring column. But they've they've been able to
find other ways to put it in the basket.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
Yeah, you look at numbers. They were ten of twenty
three for forty three percent, three of ten from beyond
the arc and perfect from the free throw line. They
only shot one. For Adina, they were three of ten, again,
only getting ten shots in the first half. You don't
want you know, you normally get ten to twelve shots
in a quarter. They only got ten and a half,
so three of ten, they were one of four from
beyond the arc and one of four from the free

(50:31):
throw line. Now, they did a much better job of
controlling the basketball or taking care of the basketball in
the second quarter. They only had one turnover in that quarter,
nine in the first half altogether, and Zane Trace had
four turnovers.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
Looks like the same five starters from the beginning of
the game on the floor for Adena here to start
the second half, so Joe Francis, Langston, Metzger, Luke Preston,
Colton Garrison, Christian Heath, and for Zane Trace, it looks
like that's the same case as well.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
Here Zane Trays coming out here in a two three zone.

Speaker 1 (51:02):
No entry pass here right of the lane for Garrison
will pop it back out into the right wing, now
back between the rings with it. Metzger for Adina, pull
up jumper from the free throw line, knocks it down,
kind of dribble it in there. Lou and nobody came
to get him. He said, hey, I'll take this shot.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Yeah, very good job of attacking there right at the
middle of the zone and sticking the shot.

Speaker 1 (51:22):
Quickly back the other way, and a three ball goes
down for Grady Stewart from the corner. That's his third
triple tonight. He has thirteen.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
I don't think he thought that was gonna go in
because he shot it and he went right after it,
but it was able to go down.

Speaker 1 (51:36):
So twenty nine to ten. Quickly some scoring here to
start this second half. Metzger into the corner. Francis long
three knocks it down from nearly the sideline in.

Speaker 17 (51:46):
The right wing.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Tadina comes out two for two shooting here to start
the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (51:53):
So big three there makes it twenty nine to thirteen.
Stewart into the right wing, Ripeth dribbling, puts it back
ahead of the He quick passed trying to go down
low was Robinson, but it was too tall. For mcculluugh
and it goes out of bounds back to Adena.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
Yeah, that was too much of a straight pass there.
That needed to be a little lob on it to
help out McCullough there.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
So again aDNA trying to work against that press and
they get it across the line but into a trap
and a good pass out of that trap back to
the middle of the lane. Shot missus rebound from Francis,
his put back attempt misses, but he's fouled. Looks like
Robinson maybe got him on the arm there. So landon
Robinson to pick up his first foul tonight and Joey

(52:35):
Francis will go to the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
Yeah, we seeing Adina here much more aggressive on the
offensive end here in the second half.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
Well, the first shot here goes down six thirty seven
left here in the third, and Francis the junior puts
the second one toward the basket and that one goes
down as well. So a nice trip down the floor
for aDNA got it to a twenty nine to fifteen game.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
Yeah, they only scored eight there in the first half.
They got seven already here in this quarter.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
Six and a half left to play. Third quarter, Zane
Trace with the lead and the ball driving middle of
the lane, try to find Stewart in the right wing.
But the pass was I don't know if it was deflected.
I guess it wasn't because it went out of bounds
and it's going to go back to a Dina. It
was certainly made difficult and the pass off line creates
the turnover.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
That's two straight turnovers, own possessions for Zane Trace.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
And Metzger, or rather Preston having a hard time inbounding
the basketball for Adena just throws it off of a
Zane Trace player and so they'll try again this time
from the baseline.

Speaker 2 (53:45):
Yeah, Zaye Trace in a full court man a man
right now.

Speaker 1 (53:49):
So the pass goes into Francis, spends away from the defender,
throws ahead for Preston, finds a wide open garrison underneath
Low on the left, and that was beautiful loop.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Yeah, that was textbook press breaker right there. Get them
all right to the middle of the floor. Get it
down as quick as you can. Throw it ahead.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
Now the time out here for Sane Trace six twelve
left to go here In the third it's Saint Trace
twenty nine and Adena seventeen on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
Oh Dean has made a little bit of a run
here to start this third quarter. They've cut it to
a twenty nine seventeen game here against Saint Trace. Jacob
Wise with you along with Blue Postage and Sydney Newsome
back in studio tonight on our Hernstein Hyundai coverage of
the SVC Saint Trace Out of the time out Robinson
right wing, he gets it, Grady drives left side of
the lane through traffic, gets it to go, just kind

(55:04):
of threw it toward the basket and he banked it in.

Speaker 2 (55:06):
Yeah, I'm not sure if we called that a shot.
That was just sort of a let's throw it up
and bank it off the backboard. See what happened.

Speaker 1 (55:13):
I think he thought he was going to get a
foul and just kind of lobbed it toward the basket
hoping to get a chance to shoot it, and al
Saint Trace gets a steal right at half court as
a Dina was trying to bring it across wide open
three left wing. Robinson high arching shot too strong off
the back of the rim, gets his own rebound stutter
steps at the head of the key and he traveled.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
Yeah, he was surprised to get his own rebound there.
That came right out to him. And then he tried
to drive it and they said he traveled before he
put the ball down.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
Checking some other SVC scores over on the Accurate Heating,
Cooling and Plumbing Scoreboard page at WKKJ dot com Andiodo
out to a ten point lead early in their game
against Southeastern tonight, Saint Trace would be interested in that one.
Good job to get it across the line Metzger for
a Dina and a couple quick passes down low. They
had an open garrison, but the pass from Preston just

(56:05):
a bit wide, goes out of bounds and it'll turn
over back to zameing Trace with five sixteen left here
of the third.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Yeah, you got to give your big guy chance to
catch it underneath, and he threw a straight pass instead
of a little bounce pass towards the post player. Oh
nice back door cut.

Speaker 1 (56:22):
Back door cut here from Noah Houston and they found
him easy lay up there to give him seven Now
tonight and it's thirty three seventeen. A get Adina trying
to work against the pressure and a foul called here
as I believe Rippeth is going to pick up a
foul for the Pioneers.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
Yeah. The thing I noticed about Noah Houston it's really
he's you know, he's tall. I mean he's lengthy and tall.
He's like six ' three. Yeah, and you don't even
think about it until you're looking down there and you
see him, you know, make a play or get get
his hand on a pass. But he's really lengthy and

(57:01):
he does a great job for the Zane Trace team.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
Oh, Dina with the inbound pass ends up throwing it
out of bounds. So Zaane Trace now will inbound from
under their own basket. They get it to Ripe on
the left block, who spins fires and gets it to
roll down. Excuse me, Houston, they're just talking about it, yep.

Speaker 2 (57:20):
And again that was an instance where he was able
to jump up and shoot it over the defender.

Speaker 1 (57:25):
He just used his height to his advantage and able
to elevate over the defender. And now a Dina does
get it across half court. Three ball from Francis right wing,
knocks it down and he's got ten. Now the second
triple of the quarter. Saint Trace now pushing it back
up the floor. Robinson to Houston and the right wing

(57:48):
dribbles with the left hand back out between the rings.
So'll hand it off back to Robinson. Randon Robinson with
four to twelve left here in the third, it's thirty
five twenty the Zane Trace lead. But Adena has already
scored more points here in this third quarter. They did
the entire first half. Lob here into the right wing.

(58:08):
Houston was open for a moment, dribbles to the right
side of the lane, kicks it back out. Now Ripeths
driving to the middle of the lane, puts one toward
the basket. Too strong Garrison the rebound for Adena. Three
forty five left here in the third fifteen point game,
Adena trying to cut into it. Metzger dribbling, trying to
move some traffic with his off ball hand, dribbles left

(58:31):
side of the lane, stops spins back ahead of the key,
almost had it stolen away, but Garrison there to snatch
it for a dinas.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Ain't trace back to man de Man defense here now.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
Now Metzger handles goes to Heath in the right wing.
Haven't seen much of Christian Heath yet here in this
third quarter. Now Garrison, trying to work through a double team,
kicks it back out. Heath shot fake steps over, fires
to three, knocks it down from the right corner.

Speaker 2 (58:54):
A Diena is on fire here in this quarter. They
only have one misshot. They are five of shooting in
the quarter.

Speaker 1 (59:01):
A great shot fake there too, got the defender to
jump past them and had an open look at it.
Knocked it down and bound here too or entry pass
here into McCullough down low and said gives it back
up to Stuart and they'll throw back to Ripeth ahead
of the key. They'll reset things. Robinson right wing fires
the three, knocks that one down land and Robinson with
a big triple gives him five on the night and

(59:23):
stops a run from Adina at a time out of
the floor thirty eight to twenty three as the Zane
trace lead to forty seven left in the third. This
is Hernstein Hundai coverage of the SVC on ninety four
country WKKJ.

(59:58):
Old Spy super Hydrate Wash twenty four to seven. Redoing
moisture with daily use.

Speaker 23 (01:00:06):
It's the new year. Time to make a positive change
in your life. I went to my computer career because
I needed job security.

Speaker 17 (01:00:13):
Because I wanted a career in cybersecurity.

Speaker 6 (01:00:15):
I went to my computer career because it jobs are everywhere.
Oh Joe was going nowhere. I went because I didn't
want college loans.

Speaker 5 (01:00:22):

Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Game year, two forty seven left in this third quarter
at Saint Trice's thirty eight a diena twenty three dina
hat just eight points in the first half. They've got
twenty three here still with now two and a half
two and three quarters minutes left here in this third quarter.
And he shot the ball very well, and they've made
things interesting here to start the second half. Francis brings

(01:01:07):
it across half court, trying to set up the offense
here working against Robinson, drives down low on the right block,
gets Garrison on the left block, and he puts it in.
That was a pass that was rocketed through the lane
and he found his man Garrison able to get it
and put it in.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Yeah, a really good job of attacking a basket and
then finding the open man underneath.

Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Try to run him through the other way. And the
put back attempt misses after the initial miss from Jerrell,
and Adena gets it right back down thirty eight twenty five,
two oh five left to play, and there's a travel
out front and as Metzger was trying to step into
a bounce pass and it looked like it went away
and he tried to stop it, but that back foot
just couldn't stay put.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Yeah, the defender was running through the passing lane. It
would have been intercepted if he would have thrown it,
and he thought better of it and said, oop I
forgot to dribble.

Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
So a costantly turnover there back to sane trace Jerrold
will bring it up the floor for the Pioneers, swing
it around to Robinson in the right wing and now
back ahead of the key. Well shot, fake triple down
the lane, pass almost deflected there, but it finds its
way back to Jeryl for the Pioneers, and now Robinson
left wing finds it open three knocks it down out

(01:02:20):
of the left wing.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Really good shot there by Robinson. That's two threes this quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Well he gets it up in the air, doesn't he.

Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
Yeah, he sure does. I mean great follow through, nice rotation.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
There's a long three Francis left wing short off the
front of the rim rebound garrison on the offensive end
for Adina. So a second look at it here, Saint
trace back in that two three zone Metzger left point.
Now Francis trying to go middle of that zone. They
find the cutter down the baseline Preston, but had to
give it up. Three ball from Heath short off the
right side of the rim, and the rebound Robinson, who's

(01:02:53):
similarly done everything for Sane Trace. Tonight they had to
Houston no contest to the basket and he missed the
lay up low on the right garrison, able to pull
it down the rebound. I think Houston was surprised at
the lack of pressure he really saw going to the basket.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Yeah, and again a couple things there, too much spin
on the ball as he went into h lay it
in and now they got to go fix that.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
Uh, the net has kind of switched up in front
of the basket. One of the Zane Trace players come
off the bench. Jamison Hill just jumps and pulls it down.

Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Yeah, that's It's one of those you don't want to
can get embarrassed by jumping and then missing right the
pull down. So good job there by mister Hill.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
So Adina imbounding from in front of their own bench
over to our left, Francis dribbling to the free throw line,
gives it up. Metzger jumper right of the lane, knocks
it home.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
It's a second one that he's done. A good job
of driving right in the middle of the lane and
making a shot.

Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Cuts it to a forty one to twenty seven Sane
Trace lead thirty second he left here in the third
landon Robinson to Houston. It's not like Zane Trace has
emptied its bench here and it's a legitimate offensive run
for Adina Here in this third quarter, Jerald working off
a screen, can't get the layup to go, but the

(01:04:17):
putback goes low on the left for McCullum.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Yeah, McCullough does a great job of offensive rebound. He
seemed like he always knows where that ball is gonna go.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
There's a whistle before a shot could go toward the basket,
and it's like mccullo picks up his second foul. H
third foul for Zane Trace here in the quarner. A
Dina has not fouled here in this third three point
nine seconds left in this period, thanks checking in for

(01:04:49):
Zane Trace. Francis to mbound, gets into the corner. Heath
turn around jumping for three, and he knocked it down
somehow over the head of Noah Houston didn't even get
a chance to look at the basket. He caught it,
turned in the air seemingly all in one motion, and
he hits the three, and that CAP's a big third

(01:05:10):
quarter for the Adena Warriors. We go to the fourth
at a thirteen point game at Saint Tray's forty three
Adena thirty back with a fourth quarter. After this, it's

Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
Here in Frankfurt. Forty three point thirty is does Saint
Trace Lee. They will start the fourth quarter with the basketball.
But a twenty two point third quarter for the Adena
Warriors certainly was a lot of fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
It sure was eight of eleven shooting seventy three percent,
four of six from beyond the arc, perfect at the
free throw line two for two. Zaint Trade shot the
ball pretty well, as are pretty good as well, seven
of thirteen fifty percent.

Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
Nearly its steel up top as metzker loose pass at
the head of the key, but on the scrambled to
corral the loose ball, they'll pick up a foul the
second of the night, first of the fourth quarter for
either team. Yeah, if Saint Trice doesn't shoot it as
well as they did in that third quarter, it's not
a thirteen point game.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
No, And again, you know four of six shooting from
beyond the yark for Zane Trace or for Adena in
three or four for Zane Trace.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Under the basket kicking it out three ball from the
left corner, too strong from Rippeth and the rebound Heath
who hit that big three on the inbound pass at
the buzzer to in the third quarter, and Adena tried
to cut more into that Sane Trace lead jury pass
knock loose and then off the foot of an Adena
player and that'll be over and back is Luke Preston

(01:07:46):
went back to get it. Coach Olaker is upset. He
thought if Sane Trace player maybe had touched it, or
that it was a loose ball or something, but the
official says, no, no, it was touched last on the
other side by aDNA.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Yeah, two Adena players had touched it. You know, the
question is did to have possession? Well, it was still
a diena possession technically, so that's where you get the
over and back.

Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
So rip is up top, has his dribble taken away,
and now Robinson will get it left point and Grady
Stewart will handle Cheryl. Robinson now drives baseline, kicks it
out Stuart for three right wing and is off the
front of the rim. No rebound Francis. He wants to run,
he doesn't have numbers. He'll pull it out in the
right wing and throw backhead of the key. Here is

(01:08:31):
Metzger had to rip it away from Stuart. We set
the offense. Six fifty left to play. Heath right wing,
dribbles around, Robinson, goes underneath for Garrison, who had to
fight for it, gets it to Metzger, and now three
ball on the way goes down for Christian. He eleven
now for him or twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
That's going to say, that's four threes.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
I have him for all four of his made baskets
from beyond the arc and Adena cutting into it a
little bit more. Three thirty three back to a ten
point game and a foul underneath as McCullough was trying
to head toward the basket, and the Adena fans, who
all of a sudden have come alive here, didn't like
the call. Goes on Metzger his third and McCullough they

(01:09:20):
say it was not a shooting foul, so they'll have
to inbound from underneath the basket. Six twenty four left,
ten point game.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Doesn't need No one was happy with that call. Saint
Trey's wanted it to be shooting and a Dina didn't
want a foul and at.

Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
All pass into Robinson can't get the shot to go
rebound loose fot four in the corner. Great effort from
Luke Preston to tap it to a teammate and it
ends up going out of bounds off of sant Trace
and a Dina with the effort play gets it back
down ten with six fifteen up blew. This was a
eighteen point game at halftime.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Yeah, and again it seems like everything is going to
Dina's way right now, and they're shooting the ball better again,
nine of twelve shooting here.

Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
In the second half, they break the pressure here Heath
and the right wing dribbles into the corner, Ripeth trying
to close him down in the corner, and he will
pick up a foul. All of a sudden, we've started
getting some fouls here as well. We barely had any
in that first half. The intensity ratcheting up a little
bit on both sides. Six oh five left to play

(01:10:26):
and abound here to the left of the lane. Preston,
we'll get it back ahead of the key and they'll
finally find Metzger at the center. Court logo. Dribbles back
ahead of the key, working on Jeryl into the right wing.
Now spins and comes back toward the head of the key,
gives it up Francis. Francis down the right side of
the lane, had a big dribble, had to pull it down, spins,

(01:10:46):
fires it nails the three from the right wing.

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
You've got to be kidding me, Ad, That hoop looks
huge right now for a Dina.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
Thirteen for Francis has his third three of the and
it's a single digit difference right now. Forty three thirty
six is the Saint Trace lead all great entry pass
here to McCullough, got by his defender and able to
make the layup thirteen now for gunner McCullough.

Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Yeah, that was a great entry pass. It was given
to a spot where McCullough all he had to do
was catch it and shoot it.

Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Francis trying to drive down the right side of the lane,
had it knocked loose out of bounds. Five to ten
left to play. It's a nine point game. Forty five
thirty six, Saint Trace up and abound heath open three
right wing knocks it down again.

Speaker 2 (01:11:37):
You got two players that are on fire from the
three point line.

Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
That's his fourth hes fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Now, that's five for him, five grey pointers. And again
that was a time out here by Adina. Again I'm
not sure why these coaches keep going timeouts after made shots,
but again it cuts a lead to six. Oh and
you know again, since that halftime, Adena has come out
and shot the ball extremely well. Right now, I have

(01:12:08):
them at eleven of fourteen shooting here in the second half,
and that is also seven of nine from beyond New York.

Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
And all seven coming from the two Joe Francis and
Christian Heath. Lou the threes have been coming so fast
for them, I've lost track. Yeah, five for Christian Heath.
You had one in that second quarter, two and the third.
Now two here in the fourth and five h five
left to play. Saint Trace a little bit beside itself.
I've seen an eighteen point halftime lead turn to a

(01:12:42):
six point lead with five minutes to play, and aDNA
seemingly with all the momentum.

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
Yeah, now we're going to see aDNA pressure. I'm not
sure if this is a team you really want to pressure.
I mean, you you've done a good job of just
playing good half court defense. Now you're trying to extend
it a little.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
Bit, brings it across half court, working on Metzger and
now picks up his dribble a long way from the basket,
and a quick foul called way away from the basket
near half court, and Metzger will pick up his fourth
with four point fifty two left. Robinson inbound, Yeah fift,

(01:13:24):
I'm gonna swat at the ball. They're lucky they didn't
blow the whistle. Rippeth right side of the lane, kicks
out Stewart right elbow, stops across the lane and mccallaugh,
too strong with the layup, goes off the side and
off the other side of the rim, and Francis the
rebound for Adina. Metzger now handling up front. Four and
a half left to play, six point game, sane trace

(01:13:47):
leads at forty five thirty nine Here in Frankfurt. Garrison
head of the key, looking for some of the pass too,
gets it to Francis in the right wing, and now
Metzger will dribble to the free throw line, gives off
careson head of the key, Robinson out to guard screen
here long three from Francis in and out netball was
halfway down before pop loose and Stuart able to get

(01:14:11):
the rebound for Zane Trace. Rippeth, driving left side of
the lane, spins back out of the block, bounce pass
out to the wing. Jerald bounced past middle of the lane,
the colla partially blocked. Now the rebound heath for Adena,
where the effort here has been outstanding. Still a six
point game. Left wing. Preston crossed the lane, had garrison,

(01:14:36):
but he had to kind of corral the pass. Clean
pass and catch would have been an easy basket. Instead,
it's knocked away by Robinson. Insane. Trice gets it right back.
Three and a half left to play, still a six
point game. Robinson, ahead of the key down the lane
on the left side, dumps out opened three ball, missed
everything too strong from the corner, pressed in the rebound

(01:14:58):
for Adena. Forty five thirty nine is the Sane Trace
lead again. They led by eighteen at the half head
of the key Garrison three ball heath left wing. That
one was halfway down before it popped out.

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Maybe more daint Trace is only one of seven here
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
Inside three minutes to play, Gerald down the lane and
the runner goes able to kind of hang in the
air and get it high off the glass.

Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
That's his first points of the night.

Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
There are two big ones for Saint Trace takes it
an eight point game. Underneath open Garrison makes the basket
and draws the fowl. Great pass underneath the Garrison had
a chance Tod three point play for him.

Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
Yeah, again, that was Francis. He did a great job
of attacking the bucket and getting to pass underneath the Garrison,
and Garrison knew what.

Speaker 26 (01:15:53):
To do with it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
Garrison with a chance to get the double figures here,
sitting on nine points after that made basket, free throw
on the way knocks it Hall. He has ten. He's
the third Adena player into double figures. I believe there's
only four who have scored in this game for the Warriors.
But it's a five point game. Robinson will just take

(01:16:16):
a free lane to the basket. He puts the layup
in here. Solon Robinson kind of split a double team.
No one else was there. He's at ten now for
the night and a time out on the floor. With
two twenty seven left, it's forty nine forty two. Zane
Trace still clinging to this lead right now. Who they're
doing just enough.

Speaker 12 (01:16:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
And Robinson, he's such a cool customer that he just
took the ball and when no one stopped him, he said,
all right, I'm gonna take it all the way in.
And Zane Trace calls a timeout after that bucket, and
again you know it's a Dina. Their intensity here in
the second half has produced a ballgame here. Zane Trace

(01:16:56):
needs to make sure they do a better job offensively
having good quality possessions. As I said, before those last
two possessions they were only one of seven. Now the
last two positions they've been able to score, and that's
what they'll need to do here.

Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
So Christian Heath with fifteen, Joe Francis with thirteen, a
lot of those in the second half, Colton Garrison with ten,
laying Langston Metzger with four. But he's been important kind
of running this offense here in the second half for
Adina seven point deficit, a few minutes left to play,
Sane Trace with fifteen from Grady Stewart Tonight, ten from

(01:17:34):
Robinson after that last made basket, thirteen from McCullough, nine
from Noah Houston and two from Landon Jerald, who you
mentioned scored his first basket of the night. Just a
couple possessions to go in a very important two for
Sane Trace to twenty seven left.

Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Again, a little bit of pressure here by Zane Trace,
forcing Adena to bring it up a little slower.

Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
Who twenty left to play Metzger the end of the
right wing with it now, Preston, I'll get at the garrison,
head of the key. McCullough, tight defense coming out front. Oh,
he draws the charge. You have that man a trophy.

Speaker 26 (01:18:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Again, that's a quality play there on the defensive end.
And again, teams that make plays at the end of
the games, they're going to be good teams. And that's
what Zane Trace is.

Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
I mean, I don't know that the contact was much,
but there was some contact, but McCullough made it work.
Excellent awareness from him to draw the charge and abound
nearly stolen. And then they find a basket cut down
the lane from Grady Stewart in a big two there
he has seventeen.

Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
Tonight, great passer by Gerald to find him.

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
I had a foul here on Rippeth. They'll be his
third stops the clock at one fifty seven, and I
believe the fourth foul here in the quarter for Saint Trace.
Now a fifty one lead here for Zane Trace right wing.

(01:19:11):
Now Heath, He's had some massive threes here in the
second half, backhead of the key, trying to get his screen,
but then set it up all that well he was
Metzger now handling up top, loses his dribble, gets it
to Francis down the right side of the lane, gets loose,
gets the layup to go fifteen for him.

Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
And a good drive there by Francis getting it all
the way to the bucket.

Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
Sane Trace breaks the pressure Ripe in the right wing
Jarrel and now Stewart had a look at a three
left wing but pressed it out to guard him. And
now a foul away from the basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
That's gonna put Jerrol in the free throw line. I believe.

Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
They kid Christian Heath his first land and Jerrold will
go to the free throw line. We mentioned he he
was held out due to injury for his first ten games.
He played in the win over Huntington on Friday. This
is his first free throw attempt of the season, and
it rattles in and out. I met you in Zane

(01:20:18):
Traces a team shooting right about seventy percent from the
line second and all the way from Land and Jerrold,
and he knocks out one home for his third point,
and Jerrold will come out briefly for Noah Houston, who
has nine points so far.

Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Yeah, that's four straight possessions. Now for Zane Trace that
they have some points for those possessions, So.

Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Eight point game one nineteen to play. Artina being encouraged
by their head coach Ryan Olaker to speed things up
here a little bit. Presston backup top for Garrison and
now Metzger working on Houston and they try to enter
it into Garrison, but the entry past denied and knocked
out of bounds by Rippeth. His effort plays all over

(01:21:07):
the place here.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
And again it's good defense here by Zane Trace.

Speaker 1 (01:21:14):
I'm abound pass year whyde open three no from Heath
in the left corner and a big offensive rebound by
Grady Stewart and a foul here will stop the clock
with fifty six point four left on the clock and
Francis will pick up his first foul. But low it
feels like they just needed that hot streak to continue

(01:21:34):
for another couple of minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
Yeah, and you know also give credit here, Zane Trace.
They're they're making plays when they have to make plays.
This will be possession number five that they're going to
get points off of here. Five straight possessions here to
end the game.

Speaker 1 (01:21:50):
Landon Robinson makes the first to give him a leven.
He's an eighty five percent free throw shooter. Came into
tonight twenty two of twenty six from the line, and
he makes both of these, so now twenty four of
twenty eight from the free throw line this year. An
excellent shooter at the free throw line. He's been very
good tonight in every area. Forty five seconds left. Heath

(01:22:11):
up top trying to drive around the lane, gets it
into the corner, back out long three from Francis too long,
short on under the basket, a save attempt from Preston,
but it goes right to Houston for Zane Trace. They
pick his pocket though, bodies on the floor and Sane
Trace gets the time out with Noah Houston cradling the
basketball laying on his left side, and the clock stops

(01:22:33):
with thirty one point one seconds left in a ten
point game. Fifty four forty four.

Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
And again we'll stay Zane Trace possession here. Uh so again.
I believe that was his last time out that he used,
so uh again. All the credit in the world is
or aDNA four coming out with very aggressive not only offense,
but here in the second half made it a ballgame.

(01:23:03):
But then Hatch off to z Ain't trays and doing
what they needed to do to finish the game.

Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
Absolutely. A couple other scores around the area tonight. Uniodo
up fifty to twenty six third quarter on Southeastern Chillicothe
Vinton County at last check, tied at twenty at half
on our sister station fourteen ninety WBTX, and over on
Hillsborough's WSRW Hillsborough down thirty five to thirty two on
Western Brown. So some close games from around the area.

(01:23:31):
Those scores and many many others updated throughout the rest
of the night over on the Accurate Heating, Cooling and
Clubbing Scoreboard page at WKKJ dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Yeah, I think everybody's just happened to be back in
a gymnasium. See it's a basketball being played after a
lot of stuff weatherwise here in the last week, and
you know, it's still excitement around here in the state
of Ohio, with Ohio State playing for a national championship
this coming Monday.

Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
That'll be a fun night, hopefully when Robinson will inbound
out of the time out on the far side of
the floor, gets it into McCullough and then he hands
it right back to Robinson, and now it'll be Jerrold
head of the key, drawing a crowd, Robinson between the rings.
Twenty seconds left to play and if foul here on
heath he comes out to come up against Land and Jerrold.

(01:24:22):
I think Diana was trying not to put landon Robinson
on the free throw line, but in doing so lost
some precious seconds on the clock down to eighteen point
nine seconds left, and Jerrold had the free throw line
one of two already in this quarter three points tonight,
first start of the year for him after a long injury,

(01:24:45):
makes the first one here to give him four, and
the second one on the way goes down as well.
So it's ain't trace here down the stretch has made
this sh shots they've needed to, including at the free
throw line that we're out to a twelve point game,

(01:25:07):
fifty six to forty four. Long three from Francis won't
go tip nearly went back in but Robinson pulls it
down and it looks like that's how it will end.
Valiant effort from Adena in that third and fourth quarters
after a really tough start to this game. They got
it down to a six point game, but could get

(01:25:28):
it no closer, and Saint Trace advances to ten and
two and seven and one in the SVC with a
fifty six forty four win over the Adena Warriors here
in Frankfurt, and Adena falls to one in fourteen, now
one in eight in the South of Valley Conference. We'll

Aaron Frankfurt fifty six forty four is the win tonight
for the Zane Trace Pioneers over the Adena Warriors and
lou a twelve point differential on the clock. But that
doesn't necessarily tell the story, does it?

Speaker 18 (01:28:19):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
It does not, And again a great second half by aDNA.
You know when you have a team that's only got
one win on the season and it didn't look good
there at half done twenty six to eight. Boy, they
really came out like gangbusters and played well in the
second half.

Speaker 1 (01:28:34):
They score thirty seven or rather thirty six points in
the second half after getting just eight in that first half,
so quite the effort. They got it down to a
six point game, but Zaane Trace did what it needed
to do down the stretch in order to come away
with their tenth one of the season. Scoring wise, four
players scoring for Adena tonight, fifteen from Joe Francis including

(01:28:56):
three threes for him, four points from Linked Linkston Metzger,
ten from Colton Garrison tonight and fifteen five made threes
from Christian Heath tonight, so a big part of that run.
So two players with fifteen to one with ten and
one with four for a dina. For Sane Trace. It
was Grady Stewart who led all scorers. Can you say

(01:29:18):
a quiet seventeen from him and kind of lost in
how this game went, but an excellent game for him tonight.
Thirteen from Gunner McCullough, twelve from Landon Robinson, a whole
ton of rebounds as well for Landon Robinson, Noah Houston
with nine and Landon Jerild with five tonight for Sane Trace.
Scoring wise by quarters, Zane Trace led sixteen to two

(01:29:40):
after the first quarter and then outscored Adena ten to
six in the second quarter to take that eighteen point
halftime lead at twenty six to eight. And in the
third quarter it was aDNA outscoring Zane Trace twenty two
to seventeen to make it a thirteen point game going
into the fourth quarter at forty three to thirty and
Adena out or Zane Trace fourteen thirteen in the fourth quarter,

(01:30:04):
but a little late run by Zane Trace and the
absolute red hot, scorching hot shooting fell off a little
bit there the last couple of minutes and Adena just
could not quite complete the comeback after a heck of
an effort. Fifty six forty four your final loop.

Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
Yeah, and you look at the numbers, they sort of,
you know, tell what you just talked about, six of
thirty two shooting for Adena, fifty eight of eighteen from
beyond the arc, forty four percent four to seventh from
the free throw line, and they cut down on their
turnovers there after the first quarter. They only ended up
with fourteen on the night. And when you look at

(01:30:40):
Zane Trace, they're shooting was twenty one of forty six,
forty six percent, six of seventeen from beyond the arc,
thirty five percent, and six of seven from the free
throw line. And again, I think the big story of
the night. You know, we can talk about, you know
how well a Dina played in the second half, but
the last six possessions you had three bucks and then

(01:31:01):
five out of six free throws for Zane Trace. So
their last six possessions they had eleven points in those
possessions that you know, basically did what you need to
do at the end of the game, score and make
quality possessions.

Speaker 1 (01:31:13):
As a coach, LOUI, you have to love looking at
that and saying, you know, things didn't go always the
way we would have liked, but in crunch time, we
did what we had to do. Players came through. I mean,
Landon Robinson was a big part of that. Just looked
at as you know, super cool customer in there. In
some times where things were getting a little shaky there
for Sane Trace, he and Grady Stewart and land and

(01:31:36):
Jerrol and the rest of the cast able to kind
of pull things together and say, no, this isn't gonna
happen here. Tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
Yeah, that's one of the things I think you're gonna
take away from this game is land in Jerial. You know, again,
this is only this really second game back and tonight.
In that fourth quarter there, in those last six possessions,
he makes three or four from the free throw line
and makes a bucket in there as well as again,
having a guy, a senior like that on the floor

(01:32:05):
that knows how to make plays at the end of
the game is always a good thing to see.

Speaker 1 (01:32:09):
And we talked about in the open you know, experienced
team versus less experienced team. It's not just that Zane
Trace has juniors and seniors on the floor, it's those
are guys who have played a lot of minutes over
the last few years.

Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
Yeah, Landon Robinson, I think the kid is probably like
in college, you get what seven years to play now.
Seems like Robinson has been around a while, and he's
been around a lot of good basketball players and a
lot of talented players.

Speaker 9 (01:32:35):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
But yeah, he he and the others uh Landon uh
Jerrold and and again you talk about Gunner McCullough as well.
All those kids have done a great job for Zane Trace.
And again this is a win on the road in
the SBC not an easy thing to do, and uh,
they will take it. I guarantee it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
You talk about Gunner McCullough, thirteen points tonight, that's now
double figures in points for him him in eleven of
the twelve games that he's played in, So that is
pretty clutch from mister McCollough. The junior forward had five
double doubles coming in. He's able to make some big
shots in this game here tonight as well. John By
head coach Tyler Cassidy of the Zane Trace Pioneers coach Obviously,

(01:33:18):
first half, second half a tale of kind of two
different games. But when it came down to crunch time,
your team was able to do what you needed.

Speaker 17 (01:33:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 27 (01:33:26):
I just told our guys that we just we gotta
stay poised. I mean, Adina was making a lot of shots.
I don't know how many threes. I think they had
eight in the second half, and even not when they
were making threes, but their guards did a good job
getting it to the paint and you know, pivoting and
hitting mid range shots. So I don't know what shooting
percentage they had in the second half, but they definitely
shot the ball well, and you could see it was

(01:33:48):
kind of affecting us mentally when we played pretty good
defense and then they still knocked down a tough shot.
But I just told him, like, we got to keep
our poise and we got to state mentally tough offensively,
we got to keep coming down and scoring and offensively.

Speaker 17 (01:34:01):
But I was really proud of our last three minutes
of the game.

Speaker 27 (01:34:04):
I thought our guys stayed, you know, they calmed down,
we took a time out there, and I thought that,
you know, we executed really well down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
And Coach, that's what I was mentioning. Your last six
possessions on the offensive end, you had eleven points, you
had three buckets, and then you were five of six
from the free throw line to end games. That's what
you need. You need to be able to do that,
and I think your experienced players. We talk about a
guy like Landon Robinson and Landon Gerald, both of them

(01:34:32):
were involved in that.

Speaker 27 (01:34:33):
Yeah, I think it started with Landon Robinson. He did
a good great job of settling us down. You know,
he really pays plays with the right kind of pace,
slows the game down when we need to slow it down.

Speaker 17 (01:34:44):
Speeds it up, and we have some transition opportunities there.

Speaker 27 (01:34:48):
And I thought we just picked our spots well there
in the last three minutes, and we executed our press
breaker well, we had good.

Speaker 17 (01:34:54):
Spacing and transition.

Speaker 27 (01:34:56):
I thought, you know, for the most part, we got
all paint touches and we got shot We either got
to the free throw line or we got layups, and
that's what you want to see down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
And again you get a guy like Greedy Stewart and
we just talked about it. You know, he ended up
with seventeen points on the night, and really it was like,
whoa wait a second, he had seventeen points, and a
guy like Gunner mcculloy he also and again in double
figures for you tonight. Your team is a quiet team,
and you have quiet contributors all over the place that

(01:35:27):
make your team just a pleasure to watch.

Speaker 27 (01:35:31):
Yeah, I think we were always balanced pretty much every game.
Maybe we'll get a guy to twenty, but if we
do get him to twenty, it's twenty or twenty one.

Speaker 17 (01:35:42):
We don't have the explosive scores.

Speaker 27 (01:35:44):
But I think that's a testament to our guys sharing
the ball so much and one stat line that we're
always ahead in most games is the assist total. And
you know, I think that we just share the ball
really well and they do a good job of being
unselfish and playing for one another.

Speaker 17 (01:35:58):
And you know, typically our stat line.

Speaker 27 (01:36:00):
Looks like three or four guys in double figures and
then there's going to be one, one or two more
around you know, eight, nine or seven or something like that.

Speaker 1 (01:36:08):
It's interesting you mentioned the assists and one of the
things that when you guys were really going well tonight,
it seemed like the extra pass was being made and
guys maybe had a decent look, but they passed that
up for an even better look. How much of that
is coaching, How much of that is culture? How much
of that is just guys with a high basketball IQ
understanding what's happening around them.

Speaker 17 (01:36:27):
Well, I think it's all those things mixed in.

Speaker 27 (01:36:29):
But I also think it's big time on continuity, which
is big buzzword for coaches. But we moved LJ to
the one, and then that not only moves them to
the one, but now it moves Land into the four.
Then it shuffles Grady to the three, Ezra to the two.
So we're still trying to figure out, you know, our
spacing time in detail sometimes and when our continuity is good,

(01:36:51):
and it kind of, you know, talking to our coaches,
it's like we're kind of recreating a little bit of
what we're doing offensively because of LJ coming back, and
we know our ceiling is higher with him.

Speaker 17 (01:37:03):
But at the same time, it's taken a little.

Speaker 27 (01:37:05):
Bit of an adjustment, not just with LJ, but those
other guys changing position on the floor and just understanding,
you know, their footwork from a different spot, passing angles
and spacing than that kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
How much just getting him back also helped just from
a being fresh at the end of the season kind
of thing. I'm sure his legs are a little fresher
than some of the other guys, but also give some
of your other guys who maybe had to play more
minutes earlier in the season a little bit extra breather.

Speaker 17 (01:37:27):
Sure it gives us a lot more depth.

Speaker 27 (01:37:29):
And I think along with that, I think Judat Hanks
he didn't get as many minutes as what I wanted
to get him tonight, But I really think Judah Hanks
has had a really good couple weeks of practices and
he's been playing really hard. He's a kid who's had
a great attitude and hasn't played, you know, a ton
in the first half of the season, but he didn't
play last year and he's been coming along and working
his rear end off in practice, and I think that

(01:37:50):
he can give us some extra depth. And with LJ
coming back, and you know, early in the year we
were close in those ballgames with Unioda and with Miami
Trace and then the fourth quarters for whatever reason, it
might have been some depth, but they pulled away from us.
But it's definitely welcome to have that depth. And you know,
of course Lj's a special player, but also I think

(01:38:12):
Judah Hanks can help with our depth here in the
second half of the year as well.

Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
All right, coach, congrats on the win, Thank you for
the time. We'll see you here real soon.

Speaker 17 (01:38:20):
Grat you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:38:22):
That is Zane Trace head coach Tyler Cassidy with this
year as they beat the Adena Warriors here in Frankfurt
tonight fifty six forty four. At times that looked really
really good. At times they were hanging on the ropes
there a little bit, but they were able to come
away with what they needed at the end is Dina
head coach Ryan Olaker makes his way up the scary

(01:38:44):
stares here up in the press box. But coach, thanks
for coming up here to chat with us. I'm sure
it was a bit of an emotional roller coaster throughout
the game here tonight. But you have to be really
pleased with the effort that your team played with there
in that second half, especially.

Speaker 26 (01:39:00):
Always excited about the effort that we come out with.
Our biggest issue is it's in burst right and we
have not been able to you know, even looking back
to our only win at West Fall, we weren't able
to put together four good quarters of basketball. It's not
a very good start in the first half. I mean
seven points that might be uh, that might be an
all time low for me in terms of in terms

(01:39:21):
of halftime. Okay, defensively, they hurt us a lot in
the first quarter. We made some adjustments.

Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
Coming out of half.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
I felt like we had a little bit of success.

Speaker 26 (01:39:32):
But in terms of am I happy with this effort, I'm.

Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
Happy with the half of basketball.

Speaker 26 (01:39:37):
We have a lot of work get left to do,
and I feel like we have six really good basketball
games or what we like to call opportunities ahead of us.
All Right, We've had a lot of difficulty, but within
all that difficulty lies opportunity. We're just gonna continue to
put our head down and grind. I know we have
a couple older kids, but I feel like that we're

(01:39:58):
a little bit immature from the varsity level. So we're
just gonna be patient. We're gonna continue to grind, continue
to get after it, and try to put four quarters
a good basketball together.

Speaker 1 (01:40:11):
There was a pretty fun stretch there, especially as you
kind of got late into that third quarter and you
guys started making that run. It felt like everything you
put towards the basket was going in, didn't it.

Speaker 26 (01:40:20):
Yeah, you have those right. The basketball is the game
of runs now. It felt like Saint trace everything they
put up. And I don't know what they shot from
the floor. It had to be a high clip from
from from deep if I had to guess above fifty percent,
it felt like. But Christian Heath has been part of
that great run for us. The last few games he's
gotten out, We've been able to find opportunities to get

(01:40:40):
him open and running him off a little more screens
than we normally do. Try not to have him be
the first catch within the offense. We've had a lot
of success with that, and then moving Joey Francis back
and forth at the guard. So yeah, when we start
making buckets, regardless of where we're at, whether it's a
streak or not, I get a little excited.

Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Well, coaching the second half, I definitely notice more confidence
in your players. And when your players play with confidence,
they play better. And that was something I noticed coming
out in the second half and all your players Metzger.
He did a great job of attacking the middle sometimes
and getting a couple of shots to fall for him.
And again with that confidence just comes, you know, the

(01:41:20):
continuity that you're hoping for, and I think that's something
we saw a little bit from your team tonight. Hopefully
we see that more consistent.

Speaker 26 (01:41:29):
Yeah, it's hard to you know, when you're setting with
a one win ball club, you know, three quarters away
through the season. When you go in and look at film,
a lot of people think, well, we're pointing out the
negative right right now. All we're trying to do is
point out the good. Right If we look for good,
we can start to.

Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
Build off of that.

Speaker 26 (01:41:45):
And Langston has had a lot of turnovers this year.
You know, we're very open about that. And one of
the things we're trying to get Tank to do a
little more is to look to shoot when he penetrates
because he's so want to miss one, which allows the
defender to really get up in him because they're not
they're not afraid of a pull up even if he
gets by them. I think you saw that a little
bit tonight when he starts to penetrate the middle of

(01:42:05):
the paint. If he's not afraid to pull up from
the nail right there, then that then we become a
little bit different offensively because now everybody's not hugging everybody else.

Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
Yeah, And I also saw that on your defensive end,
you guys played a lot of confidence, really got after
him and force seing Tracy into some turnovers, which they're
not a team that does it.

Speaker 26 (01:42:24):
They them and Unoda, in my opinion, they do. They're
the they're at the top of the you know, they're
as good as it gets in terms of patient on
the offensive end, and if you can turn either one
of those teams over, we'll take those. And I felt
like we did a really good job in the second
half of forcing them turnover. And we also did a
better job of keeping them off the glass. The first half,
I believe they had five or six offensive rebounds. Second

(01:42:45):
half maybe one or two that I can that I
can think of.

Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
Yep, Well, coach, we appreciate the time and the effort
to get up here stairs and good luck you're down
the stretch.

Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
Hey, I thank you, guys, appreciate it all right, big.

Speaker 1 (01:42:58):
Thank you to aDNA Warre head coach Ryan o'laker as
the Warriors here fall at home fifty six forty four
to the Zane Trace Pioneers. But Louis was a fun
one here down the stretch, wasn't they?

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
It sure was again that effort in the second half
that Adina put out there and made it a very
enjoyable game to watch. And it's always fun to see
good basketball. And both teams in that second half played
some good basketball. And you know, I know, down to
stretch we're going to see some some of those good
basketball games coming up, as we're going to see you know,
West Fall, Unioto O, Zane Trace, all those teams vying

(01:43:33):
for this league and it's still a wide open.

Speaker 1 (01:43:35):
Race and teams also vying for the best possible positioning
into the postseason as well, and a reminder that our
