Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is high school basketball on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Now let's head the game site for today's pregame show
on ninety four Country.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Well, pleasant, good evening to you. Welcome to Saint Trace
High School as we get ready for some Division five
boys basketball tournament action here as the Saint Trace Pioneers
host the Nelsonville, York buck Eys out of the TVC ohio.
Jacob Wise with you along with Lou Postage, Sydney Newsom
back in studio. Glad to have you with u Yo
on our Hernstein Hyundai coverage of the Souda Valley Conference

(00:36):
on WKKJ. And the second place team in the SVC,
who's only two league losses came to the champion of
the league, the Union, Y Sherman's Saint Trace twelve and two.
A great run through the SVC with first year head
coach Tyler Cassidy, I have a really maybe even more
impressive season when you look at their full body of
work eighteen and four throughout the regular season. In lou

(01:00):
You've seen this team a number of times. We've done
a few games together year with Saint Trace as well.
They're they're kind of long, they're Lanking. They have a
lot of good basketball players on the floor. But if
Gunner McCullough has a good game, they're tough team to beat.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
They sure are, and they're a matchup problem for a
lot of teams. Except for Unioto it seems like uh
because they can defend them very well. But no, Gunner
McCullough causes a lot of problems for teams. He's very
active inside. He's does a great job of rebounding the
basketball and offensive reboundy of the basketball, knowing where it's
going to go and getting it right back up and

(01:35):
getting those points there with those second chance efforts. But again,
you look at this team and I think when land
and Gerald was able to come back at the turn
of the calendar year, this really made this team go
a step higher and that really has helped them out.
He's average almost ten points a game since he's been back.

(01:57):
He and the combination of Colla inside and you also
throw in Stewart as well, they have a lethal offensive firepower.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, and you know, you look at Gerald coming back
kind of halfway ish through the season. It's not like
you're getting back, you know, a role player, You're getting
back one of the best guards in the area, not
just the SVC can run things from the point. He
could score when needed. Like you said about ten points
per game, I think nine point one is his average,

(02:27):
but he's had several games up there in that twelve
fifteen point range. But you know, scoring is not his
number one thing he does. When you bring a player
back like that versus a player that's maybe a little
bit farther down the depth chart, it just takes your
one and now he's your two, and your two is
now you're three. And those are all good players as well,
So now you have even better players, maybe getting some

(02:47):
better matchups because you have to adjust things on the
defensive end of things as well. One other thing that
you know Zame Trace does pretty well is they use
those those long arms and they get in the way
to cost some turnovers while they don't turn the ball
over a lot on the offense, and the under nine
turnovers per game Nelsonville, York, they're about fourteen fifteen turnovers

(03:08):
per game. Gotta believe that's something that Sant Trace is
going to try to exploite here.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, Zane Trace is going to try to, you know,
make some of the offense happen from the defensive end.
And you know, one of the guys we haven't even
mentioned for Zane Trace yet, Landon Robinson. He's a guy
that can do that for you, not only from getting
some steals, but also rebounding and getting those quick outlets
down to the other end. So, yeah, defense, you look
at Zane Trace, they only give up forty three points

(03:35):
a game on average, twenty two games only giving up
forty three on average. That is a wonderful defensive team
right there.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, not a super high scoring team, under fifty seven
points per game. Nelsonville, York not far from that. They're
just under sixty one points per game. They've had to
unco you know, overcome some of those turnover issues that
we just mentioned. But you know, we were kind of
talking here off air before the game and you said
that you really feel like Nelsonville, York draws some similarities

(04:04):
to the way Sant Trace plays.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah. Their offense is guard oriented. They like to drive
the ball a lot, and they will throw it out
for threes. They have capable three pourn shooters, very similar
to that of Zane Trace. The thing they don't have
is an inside presence like a McCullough, and I think
that's where Zane Trace needs to exploit that matchup, depending
on how Nelson York chooses to defend McCullough.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, sometimes and Azayane Trace can get a little bit
three happy because they do shoot the three so well.
And sometimes when that happens, and you think back to
the Uinehoto games in particular as well, you kind of
lost McCullough. Now, in that second game, McCullough had some
second chance opportunities and that night the ball just wasn't
going in for anybody. I mean it wasn't. We don't
want to just point the finger at him, but when

(04:50):
he's not able to get those second chances and put
those in, that makes things a lot more difficult for
this same trade team because they don't get a ton
of offensive rebounds.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Either, No, they don't. Other than McCullough, you don't see
a lot of guys going to the boards and getting
those second chance opportunities. So again, yeah, they need to
shoot the ball. Well, they need to get out of
the game. Well, this is one of those games where
you get in the tournament atmosphere. This Nelson Mill York
team is a good team. I mean their record is
I don't is it right in front of me? Yes,

(05:21):
it is fourteen and eight, so they have a winning record.
You have to make sure you put teams away early
and the longer they stay in the game, which we
saw yesterday with Uni Yodo and Logan Elman. Seem like
Uniodo had control of that game for the majority of it,
but they only win by six because they just couldn't
put the other team away. And come tournament on, you've

(05:42):
got to be able to do that.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
It's a little extra desperation on the floor. Once you
get the tournament time, it's one and done. If you
don't take care of business. In some cases, maybe you
never play competitive basketball ever again the rest of your life.
So you know, don't think that that doesn't cross the
mind of the seniors on the floor. And even if
you're a junior or sophomore on the floor as well,

(06:05):
you know you think about, you know, I'm never gonna
play potentially with this team as constructed ever again, and
that's something that you know, you want to send your
seniors out the right way as well. And if you're
on a team that you like playing on, I think
Saint Trace seems to have a good group of guys
that like to play together. You know, there's there's some
extra desperation there when you get into the tournament time
and you want to keep things rolling. Every single year

(06:27):
that we see at big upsets, you have teams that
roll into the tournament that have terrible win loss records
and they make a run. You know, I think of
was it Shawnee High School? You know, five, six, seven
years ago? They didn't win a game and they won
three or four games in the tournament and made a
heck of a run. So some teams that gives you
new life to another kind of wrinkle here tonight, Nelsonville, York.

(06:48):
Not a lot of familiarity. Nobody in the SVC really
plays them on the basketball side of things, so you're
you don't have common opponents. They'll go back and look
at tape for so, you know a little of unknown.
But I think some coaches like that, don't you think
you just like to just take care of your business.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, that's it. I mean, you get in the tournament time,
it's all about, hey, what do we do best? And
how can we defend them? That's really all I worried
about it. How can we defend them and make it
hard for them to score, and us do what we
need to do. There was one common opponent with these guys.
It was Vinton County Saint Trace being them on Saturday

(07:24):
very handily, where Nelsonville, York split with them during the year,
So there was one common opponent there in the Vincon
County vikings.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
About a minute and a half here from the introductions
before this one tonight, we'll take a break as Saint
Trace gets set to host Nelsonville, York. This is Hernstein

You buy back here at Saint Trace High School, as
we get set for this one. In Division five, Region nineteen,
it's the Saint Trace Pioneers and the Nelsonville, York Buckeyes
and just about ready to give these starting intros here

(11:35):
in the gym some extra pregame reads from the Ohio
High School Athletic Association here for these playoff games that
it's always funny you hear the PA announcers from the
home side games. They've got their usual stuff they read.
They could go through that stuff at this point of
the year without even looking them at their notes, and
then all of a sudden it's like, hey, what's this
new stuff I have to read? And usually takes them

(11:57):
a little bit to get going through it, but working
our way through that. And we'll give you the starting
lineups for this one here at Nelsonville, York at fourteen
and eight, coming out of the TVC Ohio where they
finished third with a seven and five conference record. It'll
be junior Alec Thompson averaging sixteen point two points per
game leading the team coming off at twenty two point
nine against Federal Hocking in Nelsonvill Yord's last game. Bryant

(12:21):
call Is senior averaging fourteen point three points per game,
Landon Enman, a senior averaging five point nine points per game,
sophomore Cameron Sullivan averaging seven point three, and Bean Martin
a junior also getting the start here tonight for Nelsonville, York.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Again.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
It is Alec Thompson, Bryant call Landon Inman, Cameron Sullivan,
and Bean Martin for the Same Trace Pioneers in first
year head coach Tyler Cassidy eighteen and four in the
regular season twelve at two second place in the SVC.
This year, it'll be senior guard Landon Jerald averaging nine
point one per game. Grady Stewart, a six ' four

(13:02):
junior averaging twelve point five. He was a second team
All SVCER recently named asra Rippeth drawls In as well,
the senior averaging seven points per game. Also Honorable Mention
SVC Landon Robbinson, a six to two senior averaging eight
point nine points per game, Third Team SVC Honoree and
the first team aer Gunner mccallo six foot two junior

(13:25):
forward averaging fourteen point two points per game, leading the
team and scoring this season and has recorded nine double
doubles on the year. Not bad for the quarterback on
the football team. The well what he's been able to
do in the basketball floor so far this season for
the Saint Trace Pioneers again, it's Landon, Gerald, Grady Stewart,
Ezra Rippeth, Landon Robinson, and Gunner mccalla's sane trace here

(13:48):
at home will wear their white jerseys with blue trim
and the red numbers with the red numbers with the
blue outline and the ZT kind of staff on the
right side of the shorts with the blue trim there
as well, saying above the number traced below the number
on the front of those jerseys for the Pioneers. For Nelsonville, York,

(14:11):
it looks like an all black uniform top and bottom
with orange trim Funk guys and stripped an orange with
a white outline across the chest, orange numbers front and
back with the white outline as well. It's the black
shorts with the diagonal orange stripes starting about halfway down
the side and going down toward the bottom of the
edge of the shorts on either side.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I think that is brown.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
It's supposed to be brown. It is a very dark band.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Darn. It's almost like the Cleveland brown dark brown.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
They look like the browns. They sound like Ohio State.
They're from southern Ohio. Gunna McCullough and the center circle
along with Brian call to get us started here.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
You know what I miss about these games. They don't
shut off the lights. They don't have the spot lights.
Kids don't have their phones out. This is a tournament
atmosphere and you can't do that.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah, and that's to say there's less atmosphere. They take
away some of the fun, takes away. The advantage of
having a home game is Nelsonville, York wins the tip off.
They'll play down to our right here to start the
game here tonight ball the left wing with it. Bryant
call throws back ahead of the key. Now Sullivan with
it in both hands over his head. He sets the
screen now as he hands to Thompson, left point out

(15:25):
with it backhead of the key. Sullivan right at the
top of the key. One dribble with it from Martin,
picks it up, hands it off to a teammate, and
now it's Thompson again head of the key, out to
guard him as Stuart and not really making any headway
towards the basket. And they say carried the basketball. So
Thompson turns it over on the opening possession and Zaint
Trace will get it in a scoreless game.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
You know I didn't notice Grady's store down there. You
got a little bit of haircut.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
I had to take a second look at my fushetier.
I thought, wait a minute, that's a three, but it
didn't look like the same guy. Robinson handles is saint trace.
Now the right wing landed Jarrod bounce passing right point
three ball from Stuart off the front of the rim
just short now the rebound being Martin for Nelsonville York
wants to push it ahead left to right. Thompson now
swings into the left corner down the baseline. Sullivan, the

(16:14):
jumper just left of the lane, goes home and it's
two nothing Nelsonville, York.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah, and they're not afraid to push it up the
floor and go with a little bit of up tempo.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Walkhead of the key, left point down the left side
of the lane through a double team and fouled as
Grady Stewart.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Dude, they're gonna give him two shots. I thought he
was passing it all alone.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
It looked like he ended up making a pass.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
The other referee stepped in and said, no, he's passing
the ball there.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
So first foul of tonight's game goes against Nelsonville York's
Bean Martin two nothing Buckeyes Saint Trace ready to inbound
from under their own basket left of the lane and
bound goes to Stuart left corner. Fire said, three knocks
at home.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
That's always good to get him going early. He's a
guy that can really light it up.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Three two Sane Trace. Now they try to put on
the full court pressure. Nelsonville, York breaks it Martin for
three from the corner off the back of the flange.
Stuart the rebound for Zane Trace fires ahead here for
Ezra rippeth In the left wing, drives the left side
of the lane, spins and tries to dump it across
the lane, but he's called for a travel underneath.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
I thought, uh, Nelsonville, York on their first couple possessions,
they had a couple of guys that moved their feet
around two and they didn't call it there. He definitely
did travel.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Six and a half left to play here. First quarter
Sane Trace three, Nelsonville, York two and now Nelsonville, York
just getting it across the half court stripe into a trap.
Able to break that trap a little basket cut from
the original passer. Thompson can't make the lay up the
rebound from Sullivan, can't put it back Martin the rebound
underneath had it tipped and taken away by the collup

(17:52):
SA trace up by one. Six minutes left first quarter.
Stuart nearly had it poked away, able to corral it
out of the air. Beryl now back near center circle
where Reset thumbs up with the left handers, who dribbles
with the right now picks up the dribble. Tried to
pass it went off the leg of Bryant. Call and
he picks up the steel passed down along the left
block across the lane, kicks out into the wing. Three

(18:13):
ball away, not calling by a beam Martin man Nelsonville,
Yorke goes up five to three.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Tell you what, that's not a real big student section
for Nelsonville, York. A lot midment looks like maybe the
girls basketball team. Yeah, they are loud, they are making
some noise.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Jerrold, head of the Key takes one dribble inside the
three point line, jump shot showing off the front of
the rim. Call the rebound for Nelsonville, York ahead to Thompson.
He has it stolen away by Jerrold. Cheryl doesn't have
the numbers. He bounce past the mccallo running down the
right side of the lane and he lays it in.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Well McCullough does. He's good at running the floor, running
straight down the middle of the floor, and Jerald finds
him there quickly.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
The other way call missfires on a three and the
put back attempt from Sullivan misses, but he was fouled,
so he will go to the free online for a
pair and sane Trace commits its first foul of the night.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Telly, what that's two offensive rebounds already for uh Sullivan inside,
he's doing a good job and giving him second chance opportunities.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Nelsonville, York came into this game fewer than eight offensive
rebounds per game on average. As Sullivan makes the first
one here, makes it six to five, Nelsonville, York second
one all the way and that one goes home as well.
Four points now for Cameron Sullivan, the sophomore, and it's
seven to five Visitors. Robinson left point fires down underneath.

(19:40):
Good pass to Stuart on the left block and he
puts it in off the glass.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah, good cut thereby Stuart finding an open spot and
laying it in.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Lily almost caught it and turned around expecting to see
someone there and there was nobody around him. Took a
little hesitation before putting it in. Now Nelson Gill, York
breaks the press. Good pass to the left block. Now
Sullivan went away from the basket, then heads back one dribble,
puts it in off the glass. He already has six
here in the first quarter. Nelsonville, yorke up nine to seven,

(20:09):
four and a half to play. First quarter. Jerald handling
for Sane Trace pull up three from the top of
the key. No good off the side of the rim
and the rebound in Nelsonville, York. I had here to
Sullivan skid pass into the right wing. They'll get it
back to Martin right wing. Missed the three as he
hit the deck and no found there. As the ball
gets out of bounds on the far corner, they say

(20:29):
Saint Trace touched it last.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Hell you well, these buck guys are not afraid to
shoot the ball. That's for sure. We're gonna get a
time out here.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Saint Trace will take the first time out for twelve
left here in the first quarter, Nelsonville, York on the
road with a nine to seven lead over Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Four twelve left here and the opening quarter from Sane
Trace Nelsonville, York with a nine to seven lead and
they will imbound it off the Sane trace time out
being martinhead of the key, holds it up over his
head and now goes left wing for Inman who will
back it back out. Jarrell out to guard him. Alec
Thompson bounced pass ahead of the key to Sullivan who

(21:47):
has six points in this first quarter, six of the
nine for Nelsonville, York and now dribbling call, finds an
open shot, missed it just inside the left wing, and
Robinson the rebound for Zane Trace. Jarld will slow things
down and set it up on the offensive end for
Zaane Trace. Nelsonville York falls back into what looks like
a two to three zone here left wing. Now Stewart

(22:10):
back to Jerrold. Now go right wing Houston, who's checked
into the game. Robinson rights side of the lane through traffic,
can't get the shot to go, and Martin the rebound
for Nelsonville, York. He fires it ahead quickly for Thompson,
who dribbles ahead of the key. Missed the travel inman
ran about five steps and now he dribbles to the
basket and lays it in.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I'll tell you what, there's a lot of movement out
there with their feet, and I just don't see how
they're not catching it.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Usually see travel almost overcalled in high school basketball. Looking
like an NBA game out here, bounce pass inside. Robinson
too strong off the left block. Now he tips away
of the pass from Nelsonville York. Houston low on the right,
can't get the shot to go and Nelsonville York the

(22:56):
rebound again. Pushing it ahead to call down low on
the right and oh offensive Fountain. No, they called the
block on the one. Sat Trace trying to draw the charge,
but the official calls the block and a chance at
a three point play here.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Nelsonville started going back the other way thinking it was
going to be a charge call. They gave him the
bucket and he's going to get an and one opportunity here.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
I had to stop it. Youre an official coming over
to talk with Tyler Cassidy, the head coach of Saint Trece,
who's understandably a little upset here.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
I don't know if he got a warning there or what.
The referee came over and spoke to him, and now
we're ready to go again.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Call an eighty five percent free throw shooter twenty two
of twenty six on the year. He missed that one
and the rebound fought four. Sullivan nearly got it for
Nelsonville York and it goes off the hand of Robinson
out of bounds and Nelson Mill York will get it
right back.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Yeah, got to change the momentum here somehow. If you're
Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Nelson Mill York has come into this game, it just
They've started with more energy and more aggressiveness on both
ends of the floor, and they lead thirteen to seven
with two point thirty left. Here in this first quarter,
Edman look like he traveled again, passed down inside to
call under the basket. Now Martin, that will swing it
around into the left wing, call dribbles back end of

(24:27):
the key, gets at the Thompson drives left side of
the lane, tries to cross lane pass, gets at the Sullivan,
and we'll get an offensive foul here is Sullivan let
that elbow fly a little bit as he was trying
to back down to the defender right in the middle
of the lane, and the official calls the offensive foul.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
That elbow got awfully high there. Fortunate not to be
a flagrant foul or intentional I guess is what you
call that in high school.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
So thirteen to seven is the Nelsonville, York lead. Sane
Trace looking to cut into it a little bit here,
Buckeye's in that U three zone. Cheryld a couple dribbles
in the right wing, gets it back to Robinson, but
Zane Trace not moving the basketball all that quickly against
this zone. Stuart right wing and now McCollough in the corner,

(25:14):
back to Stuart. He'll just fire a long three and
he knocks it home. They're almost daring him. He has
eight of the ten for Zane Trace. Back to a
three point game, Martin Sullivan head of the key, now
two hand pass to the free throw line. Thompson back
to Martin, long three, head of the key, knocks at home.
It's his second of the game.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
That's his fourth shot. He's two for four from beyond
the arc.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Here and I'll pass here. Jerald took his eyes off
of it, hit him in the head. It's stolen and
laid in by Alex Thompson. Eighteen ten, Nelsonville, York. With
all the momentum here, Zane Trace not looking very sharp
here early Noah Houston handles between the rings now left

(26:03):
wing with it. Jerrold bounced past into the corner of
Stuart for three, knocks down another.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Yeah. I like that there. You got to do an
overload on the side the way they're guarding it. If
you overload one side, you're gonna have guys wide open.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Grady Stewart keeping Zane Trace in this one. He's scored
eleven of the thirteen, including three threes, but another look
down low and Bean Martin with another layup, his first
non three, continuing to have a big first quarter, seven
point game, twenty to thirteen. Nelsonville, York leads Jerald thinking
about the three for Zane Trace thirty five seconds left

(26:36):
in the first quarter. Driving to the basket, Stewart lays
it in through traffic. He has twelve here in this
first quarter. Quickly back the other way, Thompson missed the layup.
Houston the rebound for Zane Trace. Nelsonville, York, trying to
move quickly whenever they have the basketball. Makes you wonder
if they saw those uniodo games. Here's a long three

(26:58):
from Jerrel and it bounces up and over the back
of the backboard, out of bounds. Gerald had some room there,
but had it made up his mind to shoot it.
Once he got it. It was nearly sitting on the
first row of the bleachers.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah, you gotta get a stop here for your Zane
Trace thirteen seconds ago this quarter. You don't want to
let them end it with a shot made shot.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Nelsonville York up five. Trying to break the full court pressure,
they do skip pass into the right corner Elliott down
the baseline, loose ball, ball still on the floor, Zane
Trace on top of it, and they'll just hold for
the end of the quarter. And it ends with Nelson Hill,
York leading here at Zane Trace twenty to fifteen. This

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Start of the second quarter here at Saint Trey's Pioneers
here at home down by five fifteen loop.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Yeah, looking at the numbers, Zane Tray six of thirteen
shooting forty six percent, three of six from beyond the arc.
And as you said, Grady Stewart with thirteen of their
fifteen points there in the first quarter, Nelsonville, York eight
of fifteen, fifty three of five from beyond the York.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
The big first quarter there from Stewart keeping Zane Trace
in this game with three threes on his five made
baskets in that first quarter. Sane Trace will start the
second quarter with the ball down, the little reverse layup
from McCullough goes in and and I start to this
second quarter for the Pioneers.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Yeah, I really like the fact they went inside McCullough.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
And again nelson Mill York and rushing down the floor
in then leaves it for Paul who makes the layup
right in the middle of the lane.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
And I sort of lost him in there and called
just saying right down the middle of lane wide open.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Now they all have three players went with inman underneath
the basket and Edmund just how have a drop pass there?
Twenty two seventeen, Kelsonville, York Zane Trace with the basketball
Houston to the right elbow. McCullough blows past his defender
and he puts it up the left hand.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Wow, what a first move there from the elbow.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Tompson backing it back out for Nelsonville Yorick. A rare
half court set here from the Buckeyes right wing with it,
Elliott Spins drives toward the right block, high off the
glass and knocks it home.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
That was a very contested shot and he was able
to get it in.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Seems like everything Nelsonville Yorke throws at the basket is
going in here to start this game, Layley by five
twenty four nineteen six and a half left first quarter,
Stewart right wing extended and now they get Rippeth ahead
of the key and a moving screen is called on
Zane Trace Ezpeth.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
Yeah, it seems like they're letting a lot of stuff
go and then they call some things that just make
me question what type of tempo or is this game
going to be?

Speaker 2 (30:59):
So elson Ville Yorick off the turnover with a five
point lead here at Zane Trace Inman picks up his
dribble on the wrong side at half court, and now
Thompson trying to skip past it over and it's tipped
but it goes out of bounds. Is Rippeth tried to
create the turnover?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Yeah, Nelsonville Yorke trying to get over the press with
a lot of just lazy looping passes.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
So the inbound here and they'll start to set up
the offense slowly Nelsonville, York Inman Stewart out to guard
him back.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Trace in his own man and Zane.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Trace back into two three right wing Thompson and then
picks it back out. Thompson dribbles toward the right side
of the lane, too high off the glass, but Martin
the or excuse me, Sulivan the rebound puts it right back.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Yeah. He's had now three offensive rebounds and three futbacks.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Sane Trace having a hard time. I'm tracking him down
and blocking him out on the defensive end. Robinson back
out of the key Houston crossover, uses the handle and
he's picked up by Nelsonville, York long pass ahead Elliott.
He can't corral it. Rippeth comes away with it for
Zaane Trace, and it'll leave it back for Landon Robinson

(32:20):
to bring it up the floor. Twenty six nineteen, Nelsonville,
York leads five point fifteen left second quarter. Robinson dripples
right side of the lane before picking it up, gets
it to Grady Steward, who misses short off the side
of the rim for three. Houston. The offensive rebound skip
past the Rippeth middle of the lane, pull up jumper
from the free throw line, won't go offensive rebound McCullough

(32:41):
at the free throw line. Another look at it. Here
a third chance for Zane Trace. Houston wide open three
left wing in and out. Now the rebound hits the
floor and into the hands of Nelsonville, York's prank call.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Nice Soapa looks at her for Zane Traces, haven't got
anything consistently.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
To fall bond knock loose by Houston. Ripe comes away
with it ahead for Stewart through a double team lost
the handle, ball on the floor and.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Time out.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Time out Nelsonville, York. They said they had possession, so
the Buckeyes get the turnover and the time out. Had
a seven point lead with four point thirty six left
here in this second quarter, and Louie just the franticness
of this game. And you go back to the two
games against Uniodo and basically they said, the more transition

(33:32):
points we can get just chucking it down the floor
off of rebounds and inbounding. That worked very well for them,
and that's working well for Nelsonvill, York here tonight.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Yeah, they're three or four here in this quarter shooting.
Zane Trace just seems to be struggling offensively. Nothing as
I say, consistent. Grady Stewart did a good job there
in that first quarter, sort of carrying him. But they've
got to get some momentum change.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Here, kind of find a way to find some rhythm
on the offensive end. Not a ton of movement when
they're on the offensive end, especially against that zone. And
now Nelsonville, York off the turnover and the time out,
I mean, sane Tray is a team that, averaging just
eight and a half turnovers per game, have had a

(34:18):
little trouble hanging out of the basketball cross lane pass
goes off the side of the rim and Ezra Rippeth
comes away with it for Saint Trace tribbles inside. Nice
pass inside to mccallall low on the left, who lays
it in.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Mc call a perfect four for four or another turnover
by Nelsonville York.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Just throw it out of bounds.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Let's turnover number seven for them.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
And sane tray. So the chance to make a little
menu run here down by five, twenty six, twenty one
Robins into inbound. We'll get it to Jerrel how with
that ZT logo on the middle of the floor. Jerald
working on in mint long bounds, passed into the corner.

(35:00):
Knock call him again from Stewart.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Ran ran the baseline there and no one went with him.
He was wide open in the corner. That's his four
to three of the game.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
And now Nelsonville York again having trouble getting it across
half court. They do, but now trapped in front of
the scorer's table. Somehow they break loose and the pass
from Van has knocked out a balance by McCullough. That
was about a ragged entry to the offensive end as
you can get.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, they're fortunate they still have possession of the ball
right now.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Hean Martin to inbound all the way back near half court.
Alec Thompson working on Robinson three and a half to play,
second quarter, twenty six, twenty four Nelsonville, York on top
Sullivan top of the key, tries the back door cut.
It was knocked loose her out of the corner and
now down low and a push called here. There was

(35:56):
some contact as the pass was going to Thompson lower
the right block and Robinson's going to pick up a foul.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
He caught it and he shuffled his feet, and they're
saying he got he shuffled his feet because he got pushed.
It's a big possession here. I think Zane Drade, you
get a stop here and get it down and get
a good positive offensive possession.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Martin driving low on the right, high off the glass,
too strong, putback doesn't go and Robinson the rebound for
Zane trace two good looks at it there for Nelsonville, York,
they miss him both. Now rip it launches at three
from the right corner. Can't get it to go. Stuart
the rebound passed back inside was a little little too
lazy there and it's stolen away by Nelsonville, York. I

(36:46):
kind of made up his mind that's where he was
going with it in him and now right wing, working
on Jerrold backs it back out, tries to go inside
and it's tipped and Stuart tipped it to Robinson. Now
Robinson pushing up the floor. Jerrold down the line and
they said he stepped on the line.

Speaker 10 (37:03):
Or no.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
For a getting eight turnover on the night for Nelsonville, York.
Here with two forty to go in the second quarter
and it's out under for Zaint Trace.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
So Cameron Sullivan picks up his second foul team second
for our team. First for nelson Mill, York. Here in
the quarter, Zane Traceman two. Rippeth takes the inbound Jarrel
long three short off the right side of the rim, rebound,
tipped it five four and Grady Stewart comes away with
it for Zaine Trace landed Robinson head of the key,

(37:38):
Jeryl and Al Stewart. Robinson wide open, Robinson long two
high arching shot missed Houston. The rebound. Jerrold gets it
left point, spins, gets it to Robinson, fakes the three
from the right point, drives the middle of the lane,
gets the runner to go.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yeah, they gotta get him going. That's his first points
in the night.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
And we are tied. It was a seven point game,
and now we're all tied at twenty six two minutes left.
Here in the first half, in a loose ball they
say was touched by Zane Trace, looked like it rolled
off the foot of Nelsonville.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
You're now they're gonna get a foul on Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Okay, yeah, Rippeth for his first third foul for Zane Trace.
I gotta tell you, if I'm Tyler Cassidy, there's a
number of things that I'm frustrated with, some of them

(38:34):
from my team, some of them from not my team.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Different shirts we see for Zane Trace. Roman Barry comes
into the game here for his first faction. Rippeth had
to go off and looked like he was bleeding from
the mouth, but.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
He's the one who was given the foul and bound
the imman spinning jumper is too strong off the glass.
Robinson the rebound for Sane Trace. Pioneers with a chance
to take a lead. Noah Houston back to Jerrol who
wants to set up a spot for his screen from Robinson.

(39:14):
Now Jerrold will get it right back now Houston right point,
but well off the three point line. Now dribbles back
near centered circle. Judah Hanks into the game, gives up
jumper from the right elbow, goes for landon Jerrold his
first two.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
It's a first lead for Zane Trace. Or did they
have one earlier?

Speaker 2 (39:33):
They had an early three to two lead, maybe just
their second lead tonight, call with a long three missed
that one. Jerrold the rebounds. Zane Trace trying to run
four on three Hanks through a double team and he
lays it in all on the left. Judah Hanks joins
the score sheet, Sane Trace by four. One minute to

(39:53):
play here. Second quarter, Pioneers with a little momentum for
the first time tonight. Thompson dribbling right side of the lane,
dumps it back out for call into the corner. Beam
Martin launches at three. That one in and out and
the rebound is to Houston for a Zane Trace. There
were four white Jerseys, nobody in the other colors going

(40:15):
for that rebound.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Yeah, good job right now. Defensive rebounding by Zane Trace,
giving them only one chance. Early on, they were getting
multiple chances at it.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Thirty seconds left here in the half, Pioneers look like
they may be looking to hold for the final shot
here up by four, thirty to twenty six.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Nelson Gill's got plenty of fouls to give if they
want to be a little bit more aggressive.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Jerald back near the half court stripe, his right foot
in the circle and now having to dribble it to
not get the five seconds, and they're gonna call foul. Robinson,
I mean he's he's very frustrating two feet from half court.

(41:00):
We'll go weeks without seeing two moving screens called. I've
had two here in this first half on Zane Trace.
The Pioneers not happy with the way this game is
being officiated. No, we've got to be able to not
let that get to him too much. Thompson for the

(41:21):
free throw line, little Falloway jumper too strong, and that's
the way the half will end. El Zane Trace trailed
by seven, but they go into the half up by four.
It's thirty to twenty six. Pioneers over the Nelsonville, York

Becker is Saint Trace High School halftime in this one
Division five district quarterfinal and Saint Trace erasing a seven
point deficit in that second quarter to take a four
point half time I'm lead at thirty to twenty six.
Looking at the scoring early, it was mostly Grady Stewart,

(45:06):
can't quite say all, but he scored thirteen or fifteen
in the first quarter for Sane. Trace added an extra three,
his fourth of the game in the second quarter to
lead all scorers with sixteen in the first half, eight
points from Gunner McCullough. He had six of those in
the second quarter, two each from Landon Cheryl, Judah Hanks
and Landon Robinson. For Nelsonville, York, Cameron Sullivan has eight

(45:32):
to lead the Buckeyes, four from Bryant call and two
each from Alec Thompson, Grant Elliott, Landon Enman and Bean Martin.
Excuse me, he doesn't have two, he has eight. He
hit two threes. I just looked right at my score
sheet and only looked at the last number. Yeah, he

(45:52):
had two big threes there in that first quarter, then
added an extra but with scoreless in that second quarter,
so he With Cameron Sullivan leading Nelson York with eight
points each, it was twenty to fifteen Nelsonville, York after
the first quarter. But Zane Trace outscores Nelsonville Yorke fifteen
to six in the second quarter to take that thirty

(46:12):
to twenty six halftime lead.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
Looking at the numbers for Zane Trace, they were thirteen
of twenty five shooting much better there in the second quarter,
fifty two percent, four of ten from beyond the york.
They have not shot a free throw yet tonight. They
had seven turnovers there in that first half for Nelsonville, York. Ever,
eleven of twenty five forty four percent, three of seven
from beyond the arc, and two of three from the

(46:38):
free throw line. They ended up with eight turnovers there
in the first half. So nice second quarter there by
Zane Trace. They turned the momentum to their side and
they were able to have a nice run there at
the end. I believe that was at least an eight
oh run there at the end to grab the lead
here at halftime.

Speaker 2 (46:57):
A really nice run there to get the lead back
loot at. I felt like they were able to claw
back some momentum and just kind of settle the game
down just a little bit.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
Yeah, and again that's that's what they needed to do.
It was really hectic there at the beginning, didn't have
any rhythm on the offensive end and everything it seemed
like Nelsonville, York was thrown up, was going in. So
they've done a much better job. And again I think
it started here with the defensive rebounding. Only given Nelsonville
York that one shot at it.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Yeah, they started rebounding the ball better and I think
that spilled in a little bit to the offensive end
as well. They had multiple possessions there down the stretch
of that first half where they had two or three
looks at it and were able to get points where
earlier in the game it might have been a one
and done. Winner of this game tonight will play Monday

Tight to the end of halftime here ready for the
third quarter to get started. At Zane Trace Pioneers with
a thirty to twenty six lead and a hard fought
one after a rough start to tonight's game over Nelsonville, York.
Jacob Wise with you along with Lou Postage and Sydney
Newsome back end studio. Tonight was Nelsonville, York early making
just about everything and racing up and down the floor,

(51:46):
giving Zane Trace some fits, but able to make a
nice run there at the end of the first half
to erase a seven point deficit. Take a four point
lead here into the third quarter, and Nelsonville, York will
start the third quarter with the basketball. They'll now score
down to our left, Saint Trace will score down.

Speaker 3 (52:04):
To our right. Yeah, Zane Trace got to come out
here control the first three or four minutes of this half.
Continue what they did. At the end of the half.

Speaker 2 (52:16):
It'll be in then to inbound for Nelsonville, York, and
it's pretty good defense being played here to not let
him inbound it. Wow, that was a long five seconds
that never was reached. And the past finally gets into
Alec Thompson. It brings it across half court to the
left point, It turns its back to the basket, hands
it off and now will whistle away from the ball

(52:37):
under the basket, yeah.

Speaker 3 (52:42):
Or just a three second call. It looks like I

have the official that made the call go talk to him.
That official had to talk to another official, and then
that guy went and talked to the coaches. Mike him
all up like the NFL and give everybody a head set.
Is Saint traces first possession here in this third quarter,

(53:29):
but then carry the momentum long three from Landon Robinson
highar can shot too strong off the flange Nelsonville, York.
The rebound, Thompson comes away with it for the Buckeyes,
fribbles to tween the rings, backs up to that half
court logo and now bounces into the right corner Inman
gives it up to Sullivan right wing, holds it high
over his head. Now head of the key call into

(53:49):
the left wing in min holds it up over his head.
Now as he dribbles with the right hand back to
the top of the key fall the right corner. Thompson
trying to through traffic, and he's fouled as he tried
to unleash a layup shot there low on the right
in between two Zane Trace defenders, and they're going to

(54:10):
get Rippeth for his second. That's the first foul of
the third quarter for either team.

Speaker 3 (54:16):
I'll tell you what, It's been a long time since Nelsonville,
York has seen the ball go through the hoop.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
Here sot preth Alec Thompson at the line and the
first one the rattles in it out. This is a
team that's a sixty two percent free throw shooting team,
Putty Good Thompson a sixty four percent free throw shooter

(54:41):
fifty four of eighty four before that miss. And now
the second went on the way that one goes home.
So his third point and it cuts it to a
three point game, thirty to twenty seven, seven minutes left here,
third quarter, Saint Trace with it Rippeth open three left wing,
two strong, and the rebound fought for and it went

(55:04):
off of Zane Trace, apparently being Martin right over the
back of the Zane Trace player trying to get the
rebound already knocked it off the Zane Trace player.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
Two quick threes in their first two offensive possessions.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Nelson will York, trying to pass their way out of
a full court pressure, nearly threw it away. Sullivan keeps
it in bound, but he throws it right to Grady
Stewart's threw it ahead to Jerrold who's too strong with
the lay up low on the right and now a
loose ball after a rebound kind of hurled forward to Sullivan,
who lobs across the court for Martin. He spins in

(55:39):
the lane, throws it up with the right handed short
off the front of the rim. Offensive rebound, but cal
hit the deck from a long way, but somehow got
it to a teammate inman.

Speaker 3 (55:50):
Dribbling textbook fast break there no.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
Carl barely can walk over on the right corner trying
to walk it off after that long fall rip. It
cokes away the ball from behind from Alec Thompson and
it goes out of bounds on the end.

Speaker 3 (56:06):
It's a very unorthodox possession right now for Nelsonville, York.

Speaker 2 (56:11):
It's a team that feels like they're very much on
the edge, like they're just on the edge of losing
handling it, losing possession, making a bad pass. And now
they do is McCullough steps in front of one and
takes it away. I had to rip it, dribbles around
into the right wing, curls around, gives it the Stewart
head of the key, a couple of dribbles into the
free throw line, dumps out Robinson, and then gives it

(56:32):
back to Stewart to the left corner. Little shimmy drives baseline,
dumps out right corner, and now Rippeth runs into a
wall and he's called for an offensive foul Lake call there,
and the home faithful here is starting to get a
little bit tired of it. Things have not gone their way.

Speaker 3 (56:59):
Got an day here on the Ironton score at that halftime.
Right now, Ironton twenty six twenty over Dawson Bryant.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
By the way Lee. Also, that's Ezra Rippet's third foul,
and still five and a half, five and three quarters
left here in this third quarter. But passing back the
other way, Paul opened for the layup low on the left,
and it's back to a one point game, Saint Trace
leads thirty to twenty nine. Now if Houston gets Saint
Trace on the board, and here in the second half

(57:32):
with a layup down the left block.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Yeah, much needed possession there. Good drive by.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
Houston Sullivan and now Thompson dribbles through a double team
high off the glass, puts it in on the lay up.

Speaker 3 (57:48):
I strong drive there by Thompson.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Robinson for Saint Trace, gives up Jerald bounce pass into McCullough,
extended the left block high posting out nice back door. Indeed,
Robinson the lays it end lowe.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
All right, what a pass there, fucky gunner McCullough.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Not only just to see it, but the foot it
where it needed to be. And now a foul on
a rebound opportunity. Sane Trace thought they had it, but
they're going to be whistled for another foul.

Speaker 3 (58:19):
I don't know if he actually did it, but uh,
the offensive sold it there.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
And that one goes on Jerald his second three team
fouls for Zane Trace. Still four fifty one left here
in this third quarter. Pioneers up thirty four to thirty one.
They'll take a time out. This is Hernstein Hundai coverage
of the SVC on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 6 (58:44):

Speaker 2 (59:52):
Thirty four to thirty one. St Trace has the lead
here early third quarter, four fifty one left and this
third quarter Seville Yorick will imbound off the Zane Trace
foul and they've made three fouls already here in this
third quarter and bound from Thompson and a five second violation.

(01:00:13):
That's a number of times Loo now Nelson will York's
tried to inbound the ball and Zane Trace has been
a good job of denying any open players.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Yeah, they've had a couple of times now it's been
four plus that time it was definitely five.

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
So Saint Trace off the turnover up by three. Robinson
up top, Jarald factor Robinson right point being Martin out
to guard him. Now Jerald trying to set up the offense.
Robinson handles passes Jarrold right wing. He drives through the
middle of the lane and the runner goes.

Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Yeah, nice runner there by. Jerald Lee now goes to five.
I think it's his biggest lead for is Aint Trace tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Didn't last long all the way coast to coast landon
Inman goes right to the basket and lays it in't
lower the right up over traffic. Now Saint Trees with
a putback from McCulla, goes his tenth point of the night.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
He's perfect five for five, shooting.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Back to a five point game. Thirty eight, thirty three,
Bean Martin for three too strong and the rebound. Stuart
wants to run two point one here, Stuart will take
it himself, makes the basket and draws the foul and
a chance to the three point play here.

Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Nice drive there by Stuart points strong to the bucket.
He had scored since the second quarter. That was a
big score. We're gonna get a time out here by Nelsonville, York.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
So the time out here by the Buckeys with three
point forty nine left in his third quarter and a
seven point lead, a chance to make it eight after
the timeout. This is Hernstein Hunday coverage of the SVC
on ninety four Country wkkj.

Speaker 9 (01:01:55):

Out of the Nelsonville, York time out, Grady Stewart with
a chance to convert on a three point play, sitting
on eighteen points tonight, looking for number nineteen and trying
to make this an eight point lead for the Pioneers,
and it rattles around and it goes off the side
of the rim. Now the rebound Martin for Nelsonville, York.

Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
And seven point lead here for Zane Trays getting another stop.
Here is he begin stend that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
Lead, dribbling with it. Thompson gives it up now call
left block, working on McCullough. Now Sullivan up top back
to Thompson gives it back to Sullivan and kind of
passed it in there, and Thompson was like, why'd you
give it to me? At a guy hanging on each shoulder.
Now a lob down load at Sullivan on the left
block corrals it, kicks it back out call for three.

(01:03:53):
No one missed the left and the rebound tipped and
taken by Stuart for Zane Trace Jerald pushing it up
the floor, passes left wings. Stewart thought about the three
and said, goes underneath for Robinson, who is fouled, and
he gets the basket wrong. Continuation there and Robinson a
chance at a three point play.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
I really like the fact that he gathered himself, got
to the other side of the rim and then took
it up strong.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Landon Robinson and eight free throw shooter thirty two of
forty on the year. By the way, the foul went
on Alec Thompson is first and Robinson fires the free
throw and it's nothing but the bottom for his seventh
point tonight, and it's a ten point Zane Trace lead
forty three thirty three.

Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
He's got five points here this quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
That a contested pass here goes out of bounds. Off
of it Landon Gerald along the sideline in front of
the Nelson York Finch Lou We've talked about it this year,
and when Landon Robinson gets going, it makes everything easier
for Zane Trace. Nice to see him have a big
third quarter. Also New York down to Martin Wright follow

(01:05:06):
a jumper too strong, missed everything right into the hands
of Robinson, wants to push it up the floor, kicks out,
McCullough gives it to Stewart. Three ball from the right wing,
no rebound, Martin fore Nelson Mill York and been trying
to push it up the floor into the right wing,
hands off in the right corner. Three on the way
he goes home for Alec Thompson. A quick shot there

(01:05:32):
and I'll lob inside McCullough and a give and go
the cut from Robinson and he lays it in from
the middle of the lane.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Yeah. He and McCullough.

Speaker 19 (01:05:40):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
Now, we're working really well together.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Another miss travel Sullivan right of the lane, gives it up.
McCall our call top of the key, jibbles of the
free throw and he traveled again. No call, and he
shoots it and goes in.

Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
Yeah, I'm seeing those travel too, and I I just
can't see how they're not.

Speaker 19 (01:06:02):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Almost everyone in this gym, I've seen them. Forty five
thirty eight is Sane TRACE's lead. Gerald right wing bounces
ahead of the key. Stewart for three too strong. They
have a rebound for nelsonvill York. Good job by Thompson
to go get it. A couple of quick passes back
to Thompson, tripples free throw line, spins down the lane,
has it swatted away, and he has it swatted away

(01:06:24):
a second time. Two blocks there from Landon Robinson. Sane
Trace basketball Robinson for three now never felt personal, Lou.

Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
That's ten points this quarter for Robinson. He has two
blocks in the last possession.

Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
He has twelve on the game. Two blocks on one possession,
goes down the other way and hits a three and
now a foul underneath and Zane Trace thought it was
another travel but instead they get the foul call, and
this one'll go on mccaullaugh his second.

Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
Robinson is having quite the quarter, just like Grady Stewart
had in the first quarter for Robinson here in this quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
It's a thirteen point first quarter for Grady Stewart and
Landon Robinson still has a minute in two seconds to
add to his ten point third quarter about here for Nelsonville, York. Inman,
the right point is the clock goes under one minute
to play here, third quarter forty eight thirty eight, so
the ain't traced up by ten Inman trying to drive

(01:07:33):
through traffic makes the basket? Did they give it to him?

Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
And the fount that go in?

Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
You just let it run in the air. You couldn't
see Inman, he had three guys around him, and the
ball finds it's laid down the hole.

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
They have made some of the most incredible shots here tonight.
I thought that had zero chance of going in.

Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
So and then at the free throw line, his first
attempt at it tonight, looking for his seventh point, bends
and fires and that's too strong. But an offensive rebound
by call and the book back goes call down in
the double figures with ten out to a six point game,

(01:08:25):
forty eight to forty two, thirty five seconds left in
the third, Jerald nearly trapped in the corner, skip past
tipped out of bounds into the stands as they were
trying to find Noah Houston in the corner. Thirty one
point eight is where the clock stops.

Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Really extending the zone here, looking to trap in the corner.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Landon Robinson inbounds from the corner, gets it right back
in the corner, fires the three just short off the
side of the rim Houston, the rebound put back short,
rebound loose again and he goes out of bounds, apparently
off of Nelson. Will your.

Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Stays here with Zame trace twenty two point nine.

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Seconds, Pioneers up by six. Jerald imbound Nicola in the
left corner. Stewart handles and now Jerald gets it back
out near center circle and it just had it tipped away.
He was looking at his teammates the other way. Thompson spins,

(01:09:29):
gives it up shot from Paul short and the rebound
to Stuart five seconds four three two one. Gotta get
it in the air. Stuart for three misses it off
the front of the rim and we go to the
fourth quarter with your score, Zane Trace forty eight and
Nelsonville you're forty two. Back to the fourth quarter after

as much as ten in that third quarter. B by
Nelson Bill, York, clawing back a little bit, Jacob Wise
with you along with lou Postage. Sidney Newsom back in
studio tonight on our Hernstein Hundai coverage of the SVC
Win or Go Home Here tonight Jerrel an open look

(01:11:26):
at the three, can't get it to go and the
rebound to call of Nelsonville, York. He pushes up the
Florida inman in the right corner. Enman drives to the lane,
kind of work his way around traffic, finds a man underneath,
and the layup goes for Alec Thompson. He's now in
double figures with ten and it's a four point game,
forty eight to forty four. Randon Robinson to McCullough at

(01:11:50):
the right elbow, Jarrell into the corner for Houston. Mccallaugh
left elbow, drives the lane, draws the foul as the
shot goes off the right side of the rim. Well, McCullough,
we'll get two looks at it here from the free
throw line. Already ten points tonight, and the foul goes
on Alec Thompson, his second first foul for either team

(01:12:10):
here in the fourth quarter. Jonna McCulla at the free
throw line, a sixty four free throw shooter misses the
first as Grady Stewart checks in for Noah Houston. It's

(01:12:36):
a positioning going on here between both teams to make
sure they're ready in case of a rebound. And now
the officials getting together to have a conversation.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Were they waiting for me to get back.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
Maybe Well, McCullum missed the first one. There was a
long discussion between the officials. Land a free throw here
for mccullus, short off the front of the room. He
missed them. Both stays a four point game forty eight
forty four left corner here driving Elliot runner can't get

(01:13:18):
it to go. McCall of the rebound. We haven't seen
much of Grant Elliott in the game, the senior for Nelsonville, York,
but he's in here in a big spot for the Buckeyes.
In the fourth quarter, Landon Robinson bounces to Jerrel lay
up past near half quarter, should say saying trace trying

(01:13:38):
to be methodical here on the offensive end right wing
Jerrol and Al Robinson again far away from the three
point line, saying trace by four, six and a half
to play here. The winner moves on to play on Monday.

(01:14:00):
Team that does not win their season is over. Robinson
along three knocks at home. Land and Robinson a big
third quarter, starts it in a big way here in
the fourth.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Yeah, that was a big bucket after a long possession.

Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
I had a foul here called and an offensive foul.
A lot of fouls away from the basketball here tonight,
and this one goes on inman his first second foul
for Nelsonville, York. Here in the third Landed Robinson with

(01:14:37):
fifteen tonight, Grady Stewart with eighteen s Trace getting it
across half court as your ripeth cross lane pass. Stewart
underneath gets the layup to go.

Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
Yeah, that was a textbook press breaker. Right there, Get
it to the middle, get it down the floor, get
it to the backside guy for an open layup.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Stuart with twenty he just two away from his season
high fifty three forty four Zane Trace backdoor cutter here
and it's a good pass and a good layup in
for Thompson as he hits the deck after his twelfth
point of the Nightlave ahead here, pulled down by Rippeth
in the corner. Now, Jerald Man, I'll give it to Robinson.

(01:15:20):
Nobody's gonna guard him. They'll step up to the three
point line and launch it. Knock it down eighteen now
for Robinson. His last three made baskets have all been
for three man. It's back to a ten point lead
for Saint Trace. Fifty six forty six, five point thirty
one left. This is Hernstein Hunday coverage of the SUC

Zane Trece. Pioneers up by ten fifty six forty six
over Nelsonville, York, and the Pioneers will drop into a

(01:16:58):
two three zone out of the time I'm out across
court pass is tipped out of bounce by Stuart trying
to go right wing the left wing there to Thompson.

Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
Yeah, thing about Zane Trace going into a zone. They
can still cover a lot of areas in that zone,
especially with their hands up.

Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Alec Thompson, trying to survey his options, gets at the
end and of the right point and I'll call long
two is short off the side of the rim and Robinson,
who continues to play well, pulls down the rebound long
past to McCullough, who had to kind of curl out
left of the lane as he hauled that one in
and now driving Gerald back out right point. Stewart passes

(01:17:39):
into McCullough through traffic, had it partially blocked, but the
body was all over McCullough, and he'll go to the
free throw line here for two.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
I really like that entry pass there. He did a
good job of sealing the guy on the backside, turning
and taking it up strong.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Bryant call his first foul. Third foul of the quarter
for Nelsonville, York is McCullough, who missed both ends of
free throw opportunities earlier, and his quarterer makes the first
one here and he now has eleven and eleven point
lead I think is the largest of the night for

(01:18:18):
Zane Trace. I had it at ten a couple of times.
Second one all the way and that one goes down
the hole as well. Twelve now for Gunner McCullough. Fifty
eight to forty six. Zane Trace. Thompson behind the back
driple ahead of the key, gives up for Inman drives

(01:18:40):
right side of the lane. Tried to spin into the
lane but instead passes off the call. He lost the
handle Robinson comes away with it, trying to go coast
to coast, had it tipped away, picks it up now
dumps back for Stewart, who's on the left side of
the lane, forces up a shot, can't get that to go,
and being Martin the rebound for Nelsonville, York, who just
turns and chucks it down the floor and a shot

(01:19:01):
goes into the air and a fouls called. There was
not one millisecond where anyone in a brown jersey was
under control, and somehow they come away with two free throws.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
A couple updates here Southeastern finds themselves down four or
down five going into fourth quarter. People's thirty nine, thirty four,
and with seven and a half left, Huntington and Simms
Valley tied at I believe forty seven.

Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
Grant Elliott at the free throw line misses the first
too strong. There he has two points. Tonight, Elliot just
shooting his eighth to ninth free throw attempts on the year.
He's made three now of eight. Here comes his ninth
free throw this season and that one goes in, so

(01:19:54):
three now for him on the night, it's fifty eight
to forty seven. The same trace lead they break the
press quickly. Rippeth handling up top, gives up Stewart and
now Robinson, who's had a monster second half here for
sant Trace gets in the left wing. He'll fire the
three and it's another wow. He is on fire twenty

(01:20:16):
one for Landon Robinson. He has three threes here in
the second half. He only had two points in the
first half. Now Thompson driving left baseline and he has
it knocked out of bounds and in bound from under
their own basket. Bean Martin will take a rest as
Cameron Sullivan checks in.

Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Iron Ten's up on Cole grow forty to twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
And bound pass here to call left wing with it.
Al Sullivan dumps out into the right corner. Paul gives
up Sullivan. Now Elliott and Russell roy Yorke just keeps
getting farther away from the basket. Here is they keep

(01:21:06):
handing it off at the head of the key. Now
Inman runs halfway down the lane and draw some contact.
He was not in control shot missed everything. Robinson the
rebound into the right corner. Stewart to the right block
and he puts it in up off the glass. Grady's
Stewart now with twenty two ties, a season high that
he put up against Paint Valley on January twenty fourth,

to help families in our area remember the life of
a loved one here that loved one's legacy into Heel
as they go through the grieving process. The Hewler family
continues to remember Sharon Heel with the area's largest, most
modern facility on site crematory, and most importantly, with their
carrying and dedicated to professionals. Each individual's life is unique

(01:22:02):
and selecting how her funeral home ensures their tribute will
be just as unique. How her funeral home helping families remember,
share and heal?

Speaker 9 (01:22:12):
Oh could this vintage store be any cuter?

Speaker 7 (01:22:14):
Right?

Speaker 10 (01:22:15):
And the best part they accept discover except discover in
a little place like this.

Speaker 9 (01:22:20):
I don't think so, Jennifer, Oh yeah, huh.

Speaker 11 (01:22:22):
Discovers accepted where I like to shut up come on, baby,
get with.

Speaker 10 (01:22:26):
The times right, so we shouldn't get the parachute pats
these you're.

Speaker 9 (01:22:31):
Making a comeback.

Speaker 12 (01:22:33):
I think Discover is accepted at ninety nine percent of
places that take credit cards nationwide based on the February
twenty twenty four Nielsen Report.

Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Well, apparently Nelsonville, York decided to only take a thirty
second time out after it was signaled a fool and
a second chance opportunity. Alec Thompson puts in the fourteenth
point of the night for him, cuts it to a
sixty three to forty nine game. And now a little
finger rolled down the middle of the lane from Land
and Gerald six Now for him, sixty five forty nine,

(01:23:11):
Zane Trace two and a half left to play. Thompson,
driving through the middle of the lane, swings it back out,
iron's it up big on Colegrove at the end of three.
Winner of this game gets the winner of that game
on Monday at Waverley, and a ball goes out of
bounce off of Nelsonville, York and Zane Tracil that score

(01:23:33):
right up there, sixty five forty nine. I don't have
to do a lot of math, Lou. I think it
is all right, two four, six eight. I'm ten sixteen
points so far here in the fourth quarter. By my count,

(01:23:53):
I am not good at math in any way, shape
or form, So don't hold me to it. We're gonna
assume it right foul here as Saint Trace was kind
of trying to burn a little time off the clock,
and no a timeout called. We'll keep it here. It's
this one is a thirty second time out. Saint Trace
up sixty five forty nine, and early in this game,

(01:24:15):
it was a little bit of a chakra we were
talking to. Saint Trace needed to have a good start
to the game tonight. They did not get that, but
able to weather the storm, trailed by seven in the
second quarter, but able to storm back and take a
four point halftime lead. Able to weather another storm from Nelsonville, York,

(01:24:38):
putting up sixteen points in the third quarter, but Saint
Trace was eighteen in that quarter and kind of pulling
away from things here in this fourth quarter. Up sixty
five to forty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Yeah, and again big big second half here by Landon
Robinson and a big first app by Grady Stewart for
Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
And both of those players, tying season high. He's twenty
two for Stewart, twenty one for Robinson. How bad when
you have two players doing that, and all of a
sudden as a rippletth dribbling around, nobody was guarding him,
so he just went right to the basket and.

Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
Laid it in. Yeah, he made the turn and no
one was there. He said, well, I'm gonna lay this
one in.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
Seventh different Zane Trace player to score tonight. Now he
gets a steal as the ball popped out of somebody's
hands right into his skip pass over. Judah Hanks driving baseline,
gives up Rippeth lays it up along the left. So
four quick ones there from Sane Trace. And another time
out here from Nelsonville, York, sixty nine forty nine. It's

(01:25:40):
a twenty point game and the Buckeys are going to
start pulling out their seniors here with a minute forty
one left.

Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
And again again the person is snuck in the game.
There was Cohen Larson from Zane Trace. He was able
to get in the game there as a senior, been
injured all year long and he was able to get
in the game and get his uh ovation coming out.

Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
A lot of young faces out there right now in
White Jersey's Roman Berry, Sebastian Ray, Jamison Hill out there
as well. Three ball from the corner on the way
goes down for Gavin Lavy for Nelsonville, York, and both
teams kind of emptying their benches here for the final

(01:26:23):
minute and a half ball knocked out of balance under
the basket.

Speaker 3 (01:26:28):
That's exciting for these youngsters, getting a tournament game, getting
kids to play a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
Noah Kaiser out there is trying to get everybody in
dribbling up the floor. A Lance Stevens loses the handle,
has it taken away by Eli Herzog fires ahead for
Elliott for Nelsonville, York, and they'll set the offense up.
Now drives the right side of the lane, dumps it
off for Bean Martin and a shot short from the
right side. Excuse me, that was Brennan Tomlin.

Speaker 21 (01:26:56):
And now.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
A whistle say he went out of bounds there Its
better be Zane Trace ball. So Jordan Powell inbounds or
excuse me, that was Noah Kaiser Stevens driving runner middle
of the law. He goes down the hole. Nine different
Zane Trace player to score tonight seventy one fifty two

(01:27:22):
quickly the other way, Schultz for three nails in from
the left.

Speaker 3 (01:27:26):
Wave, making the most of their opportunities.

Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
We had Stevens again pull up jumper from the left elbow,
too strong offensive rebound dumped down low for Sebastian Ray
and he puts it in.

Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
It was a good pass there by romans Berry underneath
after he got the rebound and.

Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
He was no hesitation to rebound. Came to him and
immediately dumped it off. As Champ Schultz drives for Nelsonville,
York and kind of ran out of room there, and
Sane Trace setting in some others as Ty Singer comes
in and another player we don't have a name for.

(01:28:04):
They've got the JV uniforms on.

Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
I tell you what. I'm not sure if his first name,
but it is. He had a Singer as number twenty
on the warm up. Okay, so it could be another
one here. Oh, it'd look very similar.

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
We were told before the game that thirty would be
Tie Singer. A foul called here will put Champ Schultz,
a freshman from Nelsonville, York, at the free throw line,
hit a big three A little bit ago. Foul goes
on Noah Kaiser yeah, the first free throw here rims out. Well,

(01:28:40):
let's see, yeah, I've got a singer here on the
max Prep stats that Saint Trace uses.

Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Second one is good.

Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Second shot goes in, So four points here for Champ Schultz.

Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
For thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
There's the three ball from the corner from Ty Singer.
Now all along three the other way. Let's get it
down the floor and chuck it right now. Read Singer
is the other one on the floor, number twenty. So

(01:29:26):
they say that one went out of bounds. Offer of Nelsonville,
York eight point five seconds left. Zaine Trace is gonna
move on here. In Division five, you want to take
on either Ironton or Colgrove Dawson Bryant. Ironton was up
big at the end of the third quarter. That'll be
Monday at eight point thirty at Waverley's Downtown Gym. Great

(01:29:47):
place to call a game, to watch a game, one
of the fun high school venues in the region. Now
the inbound here and try to get through some traffickers.
Roman Berry ended up losing the handle and here's a
bomb from Lady. Try to get it in before the

(01:30:08):
buzzer and it goes off the side of the rim.
And that is how this one ends. It was close
for a lot of it put Saint Trace really taking
charge in the second half, come away with a twenty
point win seventy six fifty six over Nelsonville, York. Back
to talk more about it after this. This is a

Becker at Saint Trace High School as the Pioneer is
going to twenty point win tonight seventy six fifty six
over Nelsonville, York and advance in the Division five Southeast
one bracket and they'll move on to take on Probably
Iron ten. They were up big last check on Monday
at Waverley at eight point thirty for a chance to

(01:33:51):
move on to the district final. Scoring wise, in this
Wensane Trace, a couple of tied season highs. Grady Stewart
all scorers with twenty two, Landon Robinson with a monster
second half with twenty one. Elsewhere for the Pioneers, Landon
Jerrold was six, Noah Houston with two, Ezra Rippe with

(01:34:11):
four two each from Judah Hanks and Lance Stevens, twelve
from Gunner McCullough, two from Sebastian Ray and a three
ball there at the end from Ty Singer. For Nelsonville, York,
it was fourteen to lead the Buckeyes from Alec Thompson,
ten from Bryant Call, three from Grant Elliott, six from
Landon Inman, eight from Cameron Sullivan, Davin Lavy with a

(01:34:35):
three late, four from Champ Schultz and eight from Bean Martin,
and all eight points came in the first quarter from
Bean Martin, and I'm able to get anything done there
the rest of the lay after, it seemed like everything
he shot went in early scoring by quarter, Nelsonville, York
out scored Zane Trace twenty to fifteen and then took

(01:34:57):
a seven point lead in the second quarter before Zane
went on a run. Outscored Nelsonville, York fifteen to six
in that quarter to take a thirty to twenty six
halftime lead. Sant Trace outscored Nelsonville, York eighteen to sixteen
to go up forty eight to forty two, and in
the fourth quarter Zane Trace doubling up on Nelsonville, York
twenty eight to fourteen. That's a high scoring quarter for

(01:35:19):
both teams, and the Pioneers with a seventy six fifty
six win. You got Sane Trace, the team that scores
about fifty seven points a game with seventy six tonight,
and Nelsonville, York that scores about sixty one a game
held to fifty six, and Lou I know you've got
some numbers here for us, but it wasn't pretty for

(01:35:40):
a lot of stretches early, but as the game went on,
Zane Trace really kind of made it their game, didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:35:45):
Yeah, they took care of business there in the second half.
They did what they needed to do, and man, they
shot the ball well in the second half thirty two
of fifty three overall for the game, sixty percent, nine
of twenty one from beyond the arc, forty three percent
six of three from the free throw line. They didn't
shoot very many free throws here tonight, and then for Nelsonville, York,

(01:36:10):
there were twenty three forty seven, five of twelve from
beyond the arc forty two percent, and they were five
to ten from the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Jacob joined here by his aint Tracy head coach Tyler Cassidy.
First of all, they congratulations on the win, things for
joining us up here. Not the way you probably wanted
to start the game tonight, a little bit hectic, but
it seemed like as the game wore on, you guys
were able to kind of impose what you guys wanted.

Speaker 22 (01:36:34):
Yeah, I mean, it's a tournament time. They're a good
basketball team.

Speaker 23 (01:36:37):
They've they got fourteen wins for a reason, and you know,
I thought they came in with great energy and played
really hard. They're really good in transition, and we talked about,
you know, just knowing their personnel, and I think that
we struggled. We didn't realize their guards were as quick
as what they were early on. But I think we
made some adjustments there towards the you know, end of
the second quarter. It looked like maybe we war on

(01:37:01):
them a little bit, which took away their quickness and
getting to the paint on us. And I thought our kids,
you know, land and Robinson, tonight, whenever they seem like
they were starting to tighten up the ball game again,
it seemed like he just always made a play to
push our lead back up.

Speaker 22 (01:37:18):
And I thought he played probably his best basketball of
the year tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
It seems like when Landen gets into a rhythm, you know,
I made a comment tonight it was almost personal. He
had the two blocks on the one end, he goes
the other way and drills a big three, especially for
the momentum of the game at that point for you guys,
you know, when he gets going like that, does everyone
just kind of know and they're just like, hey, let's
get the ball over to fifteen. Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:37:40):
I think we were doing that for Grady in the
first half, and then we did it for Landing in
the second half.

Speaker 22 (01:37:44):
Really, we tried to get Landing going a little bit.

Speaker 23 (01:37:47):
We came out ran a set for him to start
the second half, and he had a decent look. But
you know, sometimes it's just trying to get those kids
the ball where they feel comfortable. And once he knocked
down that shot in transition after those two blocks at
the other end, I think that just gave him great
energy and he started to have a lot of confidence
and played really good basketball tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
You mentioned Grady Stewart in the first half. He had
thirteen of your fifteen points in the first quarter. I mean,
how important is it when as a team you're kind
of disjointed offensively to have a guy that can kind
of keep you in it for a little bit.

Speaker 23 (01:38:21):
Well, I think with Grady, you know, he's somebody who
cares a lot about playing well, and I know he
loves our seniors and wants to come out and make
sure that their season continues. And we had a lot
of nerves in the locker room, I think, and you know,
some of the guys didn't play up to their standard
in the first quarter, but Grady kept us in there,
and I think with him same thing. When he saw

(01:38:42):
his first one go down. We ran a couple actions
for him against their zone. We were able to find
him in transition, and we just talked about, you know,
continuing to play selfless, try to find our shooters on penetration,
and I thought we did that really well tonight, Coach.

Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
I thought, in the second quarter, you guys did a
really good job of tightening up the defense, and the
big key I thought was limiting them to only one shot.
Your defensive rebound really intensified there in the second quarter.

Speaker 22 (01:39:09):
Yeah, in the first quarter.

Speaker 23 (01:39:10):
You know, that's one thing that we try to be
intentional about, is limiting them to one shot. We had
that up on the board, keeping their penetration in front
so we can stay out of rotations, making sure that
we got a body on a body and checking out
and then we can go out and transition. And that's
what we've been doing really well offensively right now. But
I thought we guarded him okay, but like you said,

(01:39:31):
we did not rebound very well. We let them kind
of get into us a little bit, push us underneath
the rim, and we weren't as physical as what we
needed to do one of those timeouts. I really challenged
Gunner because usually he's that guy for us, and he
was getting out physical in the first quarter and we
can't have that happen and be successful. And Gunner really
started I think his his physicality is what really changed

(01:39:54):
the complexion of the game. All of a sudden, they
weren't getting those second chance opportunities and we were at
the other end.

Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
This is a time of year where you rely on
those seniors, You rely on those guys that have been
in these games multiple years, like a Gunna McCullough and
Landon Robinson. I thought Landon just tonight said hey, guys, relax,
we're gonna be all right, and he just sort of
took you to the rest of the way home.

Speaker 23 (01:40:16):
Yeah, like I said, for a five point game when
he made that big play defensively, made a couple of
blocks in a row and then hit a transition three,
and really, you know, I told our kids prior to
this game, I don't think we've even played our best
basketball where everybody is playing their.

Speaker 22 (01:40:34):
Best on the same night.

Speaker 23 (01:40:36):
And if we can do that, you know, we've got
an opportunity to do a lot of good things over
this next week, and you know, we got Landing going tonight.
Some of our other guys, if they play a little
bit better, then I think we're gonna be a tough out.

Speaker 3 (01:40:50):
Well, coach, you're gonna move on to Monday nights. You're
gonna go down to Waverley. And last time we heard
it was Ironton leading Cole Grove. So it looks like
Ironton's going to meet you there on Monday night. But uh,
time of the year, you just survive in advance, yep.

Speaker 22 (01:41:05):
And we we know Ireton's a good team. They present
a big challenge.

Speaker 23 (01:41:10):
But when you get to a district semi any team
that you play is when I have a good record
and be a good basketball team.

Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
So we'll be ready for it. Thanks coach, Thank you, coach,
best of luck on Monday. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
I'll go to chat with a couple of players here.
The guys we've we've talked about a lot already, and
Grady Stewart's gonna take the headset here first. But now
there was a point here in the first quarter where
it seemed like everything you threw in the air went down,
went down. The hoopy telling your teammates they get me
the ball.

Speaker 21 (01:41:36):
Huh yeah, Uh, first time felt really nice. Came out hit,
hit a few threes, and uh, from there on, I
just felt really hot. But come out a halftime, I
you know, missed I think my first three. I went
over three for the halftime, and uh, I knew how
to drive the ball, put in the bucket somehow.

Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
So well, I always did recognize you. You had that
haircut there, and when you came out on the floor,
I'm like, wait, who's that number three? But boy, that
really didn't phase you one bit and you were more
aerodynamic maybe, but you know, just talk about how the
end of that game. You guys, it was forty eight
to forty four. It was a four point game, and

(01:42:12):
you guys went on a run for twenty eight to twelve.
You guys just said, you know what, we're not gonna lose.

Speaker 21 (01:42:19):
Yeah, it was a close game all the way and uh,
they had a lead and I remember we cut it
down to two and then from there on out we
took the lead and kind of build off that, and uh,
Lannon had a heck of a second half. He came
out here, I think probably four or five threes.

Speaker 20 (01:42:36):
He was as hot.

Speaker 21 (01:42:37):
So we knew I had to pass the ball to
him and uh, I don't know, just swing a ball
and get it, get it to his hand.

Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
So well, the fun thing about is you get to
move on to Monday night, to go down to Waverley
and to play in a great tournament atmosphere.

Speaker 13 (01:42:49):
Yep.

Speaker 20 (01:42:50):
Yeah, I'm excited for that.

Speaker 6 (01:42:51):
Uh.

Speaker 21 (01:42:52):
I think I think it would be really sweet to
go to Convo. I mean that's a talking talking ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
But one game at a time, yep. Yeah, Well you
had a great game tonight or good luck on Monday, yep,
thank you. I'm going to talk to land and Robinson
here now.

Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Landon Robinson the other half of the two headed monster
tonight to him and Grady Stewart combined for forty three points.
And it seems like that's kind of your game sometimes,
where you're you're kind of you're in the game, you're
getting rebounds, you're distributing your teammates. What is it about
the second half and kind of down the stretch up
games that really gets you going?

Speaker 20 (01:43:28):
I mean, uh, it's really just my guys.

Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
Uh.

Speaker 20 (01:43:30):
In the first half, I just kind of trying to
find my groove.

Speaker 21 (01:43:33):
But at halftime, everybody was kind of talking to me,
trying to get me to get them some shots up.
H I really shoot a lot in the first half
other than layups. But uh, I mean, my guy's got
a lot of.

Speaker 20 (01:43:42):
Confidence in me.

Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
Uh.

Speaker 20 (01:43:44):
I got a lot of confidence in myself. But I
mean just having guys like Ezra LJ.

Speaker 21 (01:43:48):
Grady who will swing that ball to mean, I mean,
once once that first shot goes in, my confidence is
sky high, and after that, I just keep firing.

Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
I got to ask you about the play that sticks
out in our the double block on one end, it
turns into a big three on the other end. I
made a coments that that one felt personal the way
the way you put that one down. At that point,
you're having fun, aren't you. Yeah, I mean that's all.

Speaker 22 (01:44:10):
That's all this game is.

Speaker 20 (01:44:11):
It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 21 (01:44:13):
But just just having that the double block, I mean,
that's just something I've been able to do this year. Uh,
on the defensive end, but I mean that three could
have went to anybody, but my guys fied me, knew
I was knew I was getting a little hot, So
I mean I hit it for us, and I mean
after that, it was it was just having fun out
there with everybody but Landon.

Speaker 23 (01:44:34):
You.

Speaker 3 (01:44:34):
You've been in a lot of games here for Jane
Trace over the years, and it seems like you're this
comest guy out there on the floor. Do you really
ever get, you know, pumped up or anything. It just
seems like you're so calm out there and it and
it chose the rest of your players. Hey, we've got
this because Landen's here with us.

Speaker 5 (01:44:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 20 (01:44:51):
I mean, that's that's just how my whole demeanor is.
I try to stay calm.

Speaker 21 (01:44:54):
I mean, ever since my sophomore year playing out here
on the cour with my brother and the other seniors.

Speaker 20 (01:44:59):
Uh, just being that young guy. You can't really be
the really fast guy. You guys show your maturity.

Speaker 21 (01:45:05):
So I try to show that to the team, and
whenever we get down in games like this, I try
to stay as calm as possible, not get too fired up.
But I mean, after that league, you guys kind of
saw it a little bit. I started going a little crazy,
but uh, I mean that's just how the game goes.
I stayed calm as much as possible, but I mean
once once it started to happen for us, well.

Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
It's a pleasure to watch as a former coach. I
love to see that out there in the presence you
bring h and again, it was just a wonderful second half.
I mean you were seven of nine shooting in the
second half, and like you said to us, those double
double block there on that one end was the highlight
of the game for us.

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
And the game knows you did it on the defensive end,
the ball founder on the offensive en right there, Yes, sir, well,
good luck moving on to Monday. It looks like you
guys officially now will play Ironton down in Waverley.

Speaker 20 (01:45:57):
All right, thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
All right, Robinson John appreciate the visit up here from
him and Grady Stewart. We don't always get the shop players,
do we.

Speaker 3 (01:46:07):
No, it's it's it's a pleasure to see because you
get to see him on the court and stuff like that.
To see them come up here. And again, he is
a calm guy. I mean, he's just you know, I'd
like to check his blood pressure and see if it
ever does go up and down just because how cool
he is. But man, he is fun to watch.

Speaker 13 (01:46:23):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
And we can go over some scores here because we
got a lot of updates right now. Huntington is up
three points with four seconds left on the road at
Simms Valley. Huntington wins that game. They're going to move
on to Wednesday night and uh then we have some
other finals here. I know we had a Dina getting
beat tonight. So Adena season comes to an end. They

(01:46:46):
get beat Eastern Beats or defeats Adena fifty nine thirty six.
Miami Trace did defeat Chili Coffee sixty three forty five,
and Southeastern tonight falls their season ends falls to p
fifty six to fifty one.

Speaker 2 (01:47:04):
And it is official Ironton Beats. I want to say
Colegrove Dawson Bryant by final of fifty three thirty six.
So Ironton now fifteen and seven, Saint Trace nineteen and four.
They'll meet up on Monday, and that should be a
fun with Lou. I think Saint Trace has some good momentum.
They're a team that when they get hot we saw tonight,

(01:47:24):
if they can put that together for a whole game,
they can do some dangerous things. And Grady talking about, Hey,
I think it'd be really cool to go play in
the convo. You know, the players are looking ahead to
stuff like that, and that's a little bit of extra motivation,
isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
It sure is, And again they they you know, that's
just one place that you want to go play at.
It's a great atmosphere, and they have one more game
to get there. They go to Waverley on Monday, and
if they win that one, they're going to go down
to the Convo on I believe, Friday night. So again
they have a real chance of winning this district. When
you expand the districts to six now division or seven

(01:47:59):
divisions all, it has given some teams an opportunity. Uniodo
really has a good chance of getting to that district
final and winning a district and I think Zane Trace
does as well. And right now they're the only two
SBC teams that have moved on. It looks like Huntington
hopefully can hang on. They're gonna play on Wednesday against

(01:48:21):
People's I believe, So if they do win that game,
we will definitely have three games next week at least Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday. Definitely Monday night down at Waverley at
eight thirty it'll be the Zane Trace Pioneers taking on
Ironton and it is now a final. Huntington wins sixty
three to sixty on the road at Sims Valley. So

(01:48:43):
great win there for Huntington, and you know they move
on as well Tuesday night it'll be Huntington or I'm sorry,
Uniodo boy, I'm getting all kinds of games. Unioto will
be moving on to Tuesday night and they're gonna be
playing Fairfield Union at Southeastern. That is an eight thirty
start as well. And I will have to take a

(01:49:05):
quick look about Wednesday, Huntington it will be playing They
will be playing Peebles and that will also be an
eight thirty start at Jackson. So wow, three late night
games for wkk JAY coming up next week.

Speaker 2 (01:49:23):
Oh certainly pleasure tonight and I'm looking forward to some
of these games down the stretch and if we get there,
I'll be there Friday down in Athens for that Uniodo game.
But best of luck to Zayn Trace here and the
rest of the SVC teams still alive. They'll do it
for us here tonight from Zane Trace as the Pioneers
get a twenty point win over Nelsonville, York. Final score

(01:49:45):
seventy six fifty six for Sydney Newsom back in studio
my partner Lou postage Jacob Weiser saying so long from
Kenny Kinneck, where Zane Trace advances. Thanks for listening to
Hernstein hunday coverage of the SVC on ninety four Country WKKJ.
