Who All I can say is wow, hold on to you. But oh
my god, gets a govening cleanup. We say stupid things all of
the time. It gets coven andclean up according to you, And I'll
(00:24):
but give a boock coven and cleanup sponsored by nobody. Lay around a
bad football team. Bad things happenedfar away? Shall we begun? Welcome
(01:15):
to nine to noon. If you'reconfused as to YPA sounds a little bit
blacker and a whole lot handsomer today, make no mistake about it. The
Vikings vox is still out and aboutexploring the vast and ever expanding universe.
So I am filling in for Paibeing Max Buller aka Tony FROMO aka Nicolo
(01:41):
Maxavelli as always never leave home withoutmy partner in crime by my side.
I am joined by a man thatloves wrestling so much he showed up to
work in just a speedo and achampionship belt and nothing else. Say his
name and he appears. I knew, and I what they called him the
(02:04):
Cornfield cast No, but but inSaint Louis Park we simply call him Triple
B Brett Carl Anthony BLAKEMO what's good? Brett? I believe in the cornfield.
Yes, happy to be here, man, happy to be here with
you too as well. Man,We've got all. We've got a really
fun show for everybody out there.Brett and are the are the absolute last
(02:25):
ditch effort when the fan wants tohave live and local programming. Every time
we are on the air. Thelist of people who said no before us
is as long as all seven HarryPotter books combined. Our fearless leader in
program director Chad Abbott tried asking Rosie, you know what Rosie was doing?
Brett, I'm not going to answerthat question. He was busy. First
(02:49):
three instincts for Joe all got rejectedby the joke film. Yeah, but
you were close. I can readyour mind. You were close. He
was busy doing a photo shoot forthe twenty four edition of his annual shirtless
Fireman's Calendar Oka. He's not afireman, but he does have experience sliding
down a pole. So there's that. Wasn't just Rosie though. Abbit tried
(03:12):
asking Lavelle e Neil the third. He actually said yes, but that he
probably won't be here until six pm. I haven't even tried asking Dan Barero,
the big ticket to come in alittle bit early, but he said
his NWA cover band had a gigthis morning, so Abbot had no choice
(03:32):
but to break the emergency glass. That is myself and Brett Blake more happy
to be here today. So Brett, you know, like we like to
we like to be on the forefrontof the sporting news world. Here at
the Fan, we are your sportsleader. So yesterday I go to open
up social media on my phone, you know, see if there's any breaking
news, trying to see what's goingon in the world for the show today.
(03:54):
Because we're cutting edge here at theFan. We gotta be at the
forefront of everything. We're so cuttingedge. Sometimes I walk in the door
and just chunk of my afro getssliced off. That's how cutting edge we
are. Bret Blakemore, I seethe dent in it. Okay, I
don't have to fix it up duringthe commercial break. I do need.
(04:14):
I need more trustworthy friends to tellme when my afro is messed up.
There's so many times I go tothe bathroom and I'm just heartbroken because you
know, the constant on and offwith the headphones, It's just it does
a number on the fro throughout theday, you know. So I need
people to be honest with me.It's not on a scale of one to
ten. How's the fro looking rightnow? You want me to answer that?
Yeah? I do. Do youthink I know the first thing about
frozer are supposed to look that ifit's a whole can of worms, I
(04:38):
don't want to You're not even gonnatouch it. So just a ten.
It's a tent. It's a tenbecause I have no idea what a tent
is. So would you ever thinkabout shaving your head just to be in
the bit, you know, justto be a part of the bad Brothers?
I mean, we're I mean it'slike if this was a gang,
we'd be outnumbered in these streets. You know what I'm saying. I'd be
afraid to walk down the halls ofsixteen hundred. You're bald, our newest
(05:00):
recruit Meat sofce meet Socky is bald. Now you might be the best looking
one of the bunch. Hawk isbald, Rabbie's bald, Tennis bald.
I mean, there's more baldies thanpeople with hair. I'm starting to get
a little nervous, but it's alittle bit infectious. It looks it looks
so freeing. It's just easy, you know. Yeah, this afro,
(05:24):
it's it's beautiful, it's amazing,it's magnificent. It shines like a supernova.
But it's it's it shackles me,Brett. I feel tied down.
If I I feel like I wouldjust feel a little bit lighter if I
had no hair, you know. And also you could go to sporting events
and not feel guilty. Right, that's the other thing, right, That's
why I have to sit in thenoseweeds deside for me being broke, because
(05:45):
I'm just I have to do thepublic of service. If I sit in
front of everybody, anybody, you'rethat guy holding up the sign the whole
game, the whole time, standingup the entire game. I refuse to
sit down. But hey, likeI said, before, you're gonna sit
behind me, you better learn howto hod of bright hair, your bred
hair. Give me, give yourboy some corn rolls. It's all good.
We can we get the problem canbe. I've had corn rows before.
(06:06):
I've had pretty much every look thata that a young black man can
have outside of dreads. And that'sjust everybody has dreads. But I've had
corn rows, I've had fro hawks, had a flat top, yeah,
the fro hog. I actually, you know, I don't like to too
my own horn here much much likethe common man Dan Cole. But oh
yeah, I'm basically the innovator ofthe fro hawk, you know, like
(06:29):
Chad Ocho Cinco did it. Abunch of people in the NFL did it,
but I did it first. Youknow what I'm saying, Because I'm
an innovator. Cutting edge, likewe were just talking about, that's literally
cutting edge. Yeah, exactly, literally cutting edge. So yesterday Brett I
opened up Twitter slash x began scrollingon social media, but I didn't even
have to scroll far because it wasthe very first tweet I saw, and
(06:53):
it left me flabbergasted. I meanabsolutely stunned, a maze flum mixed Brett
Blake more stunned to my buns.I couldn't believe what I was reading.
The Eternal March, that is,time came to a screeching halt. If
it was a movie, it wouldhave been the moment that you hear a
(07:14):
record scratch. And I read thenews and I said this, this can't
be the top story on my timelinestead the NBA has been canceled. Oh
no, I said exactly. Iwas shocked a stunt that sounds like the
(07:39):
entirety of the NBA was this. This isn't cancel culture strike again. I'm
like, wait a damn minute, how can this be? Like, I
know nobody outside of Massachusetts wanted theCeltics to win, but we can't just
cancel the entire NBA. Like Ifound myself putting my hands on my hips
and shaking my head like a Carenat customer service. I was just one
(08:00):
hearing why. I saw Kevin Fallnessthis morning, blackout driving celebrate. I
was wondering about that. He wasjust sleeping in the producer studio. I
didn't even make it home yesterday. He was celebrating so hard. And you
know, I said, like wejust said, it's a damn it.
Millennials are trying to cancel everything.First it was Eminem and now the NBA.
I was so destryed I forgot thatI'm a damn millennial myself. My
(08:22):
pearls were cloud spread, blakemore.Yeah, my mind was lost. The
sky was so close to following. My afro was covered in Clouds. But
despite the horrific headline I was facedwith, I had to read more just
to know what was the cause formy favorite league in the world's DEMI So
I read on, and folks, this is a lesson on reading the entire
(08:43):
story and not just the headline, something we all could learn from, because,
much to my surprise, the articlewas not referring to the National Basketball
Association. No. No, itwas referring to the highly touted nothing but
Ass Basketball Tournament in New Jersey, which I know means more to you than
(09:07):
the actual bread the actual NBA.So I apologize for bringing this up,
Bred Blake. I know this isa see you later, this is a
sore subject for you. But Iwent on to read the article and it
says the nothing but Ass Celebrity BaddiesBasketball Tournament, this is a real article
(09:28):
was all set to go forward onJuly twenty first at West Side High School.
Are you sure this is not theOnions? This is It was TMZ
Sports, believe it or not. It's not too far away. It's not
too far away. But I mean, they're pretty reliable. You broke the
news of Chris Hockey. Yet I'mnot I couldn't. I just couldn't.
I couldn't bear to do it.My heart couldn't take it. He looked
(09:52):
like he was having a good day. I just hopefully he's not listening right
now. He's gonna be in Champles. So this the Nothing but Ass Celebrity
Batties Basketball Tournament, as you wellknow Bred Blakemore I was supposed to go
down in Newark, New Jersey outof high school. But after a video
promoting the event featured quote girls shakingtheir butts at the high school gym,
(10:16):
officials pumped the brakes on all ofit, and I just, ooh,
wait, we don't know where inthe world PA is right now, said
Colorado. That's what he said. What he said, But that's exactly what
someone would say to lead you offthe scent. Could be trying to see
the box opportunities speaking of boxing thebox. But my thing is it says
(10:46):
it got canceled after there was avideo promoting it. What did the school
officials think an event called the Nothingbut Ass Tournament was going to be?
I mean it kind of said likethey were living up to the name on
the tin. The tournament wasn't calledGrandma Beatrice's Chastity Basketball tournament. It was
(11:07):
called nothing but Us, but whenthey lived up to the name, the
school board wanted everything but ass.I don't get me wrong, y'all,
I don't think anybody's disagreeing that theyprobably shouldn't be having a cheek centric basketball
tournament in a place of learning. You can't really be like torking in the
same gym that kids are playing freezetag in. You have the big tents,
(11:35):
exactly. You can't be shaking yourgroove thing with your buns out in
mister Johnson's geometry class. You know, that's just you can't do that.
But what did the school officials thinkthat a nothing but Ass tournament was going
to be. I'm just so confusedat how this got approved anyways, And
I just have so many questions aboutthe logistics of it all, Like was
(11:56):
the whole tournament gonna be played intheir skivvies? That that would seem like
there would be some logistical errors there, Soury. Maybe they thought it was
you know, future Farmers of Americaclub events, and they had a bunch
of darmists. Maybe they must have, because clearly they weren't prepared for the
pro bo video, you know, like it? Just I'm still curious.
(12:22):
I want I hope this finds away to move forward, which I will
offer up sixteen hundred Yuca Avenue bythe way as the new home of the
Nothing but Ass Tournament if they wantto host it here, I'll be more
than happy to provide some vocals. But again, like, was the whole
thing gonna be played just in underwear? Because that's kind of what it sounds
like, Because I mean that changeseverything. Like if someone says someone else
(12:48):
is flopping during the Nothing but AssTournament that could have multiple meetings. Well,
I guess, I guess how fardoes nothing go? Right? You
know what I mean exactly? That'sa good question, I mean nothing.
That is a philosophical question too.How far is nothing nothing, nothing but
ass? And it's b U tT by the way and a zz gosh
(13:13):
the showers right. That's why Idon't critique how your fro looks every day,
because I don't. I wouldn't knowthe first you don't know anything about
the no. I just have somany questions about this Nothing but Ass Tournament,
but we simply don't have enough time. Brett blakemore to analyze it all,
(13:33):
so hopefully we can get to thebottom of this, and hopefully the
good people at the Nothing But AskCelebrity Batties Basketball Tournament can find a new
home that is away from a highschool, because that seems to be a
logistical error on everybody's part. Idon't really understand how this even got approved
in the first place, but I'llbe curious to uh to follow up on
(13:54):
the story. If you got anyquestions, hit the six four six tax

(15:50):
a game seven right here on KFA. And we got Richard Crazy Legs cot

live and a local here on kFA. M Max Buller here alongside Brett
Blake Moore on a rainy day inthe Twin Cities. There's no sun to
be seen today, but a differentkind of sun may soon shine here for
sports are to be believed. BronnieJames ak Lebron James Junior, the son
(18:04):
of Lebron James. By the way, in case you guys didn't know that
Lebron James Junior. If there's anyconfusion with the name has been the subject
of a lot of scrutinay a lotof scrutiny since declaring for the NBA Draft
about a month or so ago.I think people mostly fairly have wondered aloud
if Bronni really has what it takesto be as drafted, drafted as high
(18:26):
as some scouts are anticipating, whichis I mean somewhere in the middle of
the second round or A lot ofpeople are mostly just wondering is it because
he's Lebron's kid, and Lebron himselfhas expressed interest in playing on the same
team as his kid many many times. Now he's kind of walked that back
a little bit because there was teamslike, oh, the Utah Jazz are
interested in Bronnie James, and Lebronwas like, Okay, hold them,
(18:48):
I'm not going to just any teamthat gets that drafts Brownie. But you
know, he said a lot oftimes that he wants to play on the
same team as his kid. SoI think a lot of people assume that
it's gonna it's gonna happen. Butyou know, on the other hand,
optimists and I think even Brownie himselfwould say that he could evolve to be
a Derek White like player, arole player kind of guy that impacts winning
(19:11):
in huge ways, as we justsaw recently in the NBA Finals the Celtics.
I mean, straight up, theyjust don't win the NBA Finals without
a guy like Derek White. Theydon't have as successful of a season as
they've had without a guy like DerekWhite. So Brownie James could be that,
I mean, that would be awildly successful career. Nobody's expecting him,
or at least should be expecting himto be anywhere near as good as
(19:33):
his dad. Only a handful ofplayers ever have been. I mean,
anybody that's ever picked up a basketball, you can't just say that they're going
to be as good as Lebron James. He's one of the two or three
best players of all time. Sowhy am I saying all this? Well,
that's because NBA agent extraordinary Rich Paul, who has clients like the afore
mentioned Lebron James and Brownie James, said in a recent interview that your Minnesota
Timberwolves quote love Bronni. Now,I know Sassy won't be happy about that,
(19:57):
but he's worked out several teams includingobviously the Lakers, where Lebron plays
right now. He's worked out forthe Suns as well, But the Wolves
were among a handful of teams named, such as the Raptors, the Mavericks
that have interest in drafting Bronni.Rich Paul, his agent, sounded really
reluctant to have Ronnie drafted by theWolves, saying he doesn't know who the
(20:18):
owners are going to be, whichI mean, that's fair to say.
But you know, luckily for us, Rich Paul doesn't necessarily get to choose
where his clients go. The Wolvesactually do have a pick this year,
a pair of them, because everyother year bit with the Rudy Gobert trade,
so this last year we didn't haveone. This year we do at
pick twenty seven. We also havea second rounder at pick thirty seven.
And if it's true that they're interestedin Bronni James, I say, if
(20:44):
he's still there at thirty seven, maybe probably not twenty seven. We'd like
to get the air apparent for MikeConley, maybe late in the draft,
find a serviceable point guard that couldmaybe take over that starting role for Mike
Conley in the future. But ifhe's still there, at thirty seven.
Why the hell that Bret can Iask a dumb question? Yeah, is
that guarantee that Lebron is going toplay for the Timber one? And that's
(21:07):
the talker, right exactly. That'skind of what I'm saying, is like,
yeah, Lebron is I think he'ssort of more so walked back saying
that he's going to go wherever hisson goes because of the perception of it.
I think in his heart he obviouslystill wants to go play on the
same what's the perception of it?How are you being sarcastic? Right?
No? I mean I don't knowwhat. I don't get it. Well,
(21:27):
everybody wants he's done it all,let him play with this kid.
Everybody everybody's hating on it, youknow, like just saying it's nepotism.
That's the only reason why we're talkingabout Brownie, that's the only reason why
Bronni's getting drafted. Blah blah blahblah blah. But I say, if
you, basically, I mean, that's a lottery ticket to possibly get the
best, one of the best playersof all time, maybe the best player
(21:48):
of all time on your team.So even if Brownie doesn't pan out.
How often do second round picks panout anyways? In the NBA, I
mean there's not that. I meanme and PA looked up a list about
a week or so ago. Youknow this, guys like Draymond Green and
Nicola Yokitch and stuff like that. But that's extremely rare to find someone that's
going to make a noticeable impact onthe success of your team in the second
(22:10):
round. So why not get aguy like Bronni James If you could possibly
snag Lebron freaking James. I don'tcare if he's thirty eight, thirty nine,
forty or fifty. He's still playingat a super high level and he's
Lebron James. He's gonna put assesin seats, which I mean, the
Timberls don't even help with that. You think bring you as a thing before?
(22:30):
Yeah, right, exactly. TheTarget Center is already a tough ticket
right now. It's gonna get eventougher if Lebron James comes into town.
And I mean imagine, like thestoryline of it all, Lebron James aging
NBA superstar face of the NBA passingthe torch to Anthony Edwards, the new
face of the NBA, all thethings that he could teach the Wolves,
(22:51):
all the things that he could addto the Wolves. And like I said,
we're looking for a point guard.I don't know, Lebron James seems
like a pretty damn good point guardto me. I don't know. I
know a lot of people. Webrought it up on worst case scenario,
the show that we do on Sundayseleven am to one pm, and everybody
else in the room disagreed with me. They didn't want anything to do with
Lebron James. They do not Theydid not want him on this team.
(23:11):
Thinking that, you know, Ithink, but a lot of people are
like, oh, you know, the ego, he's gonna want the ball
all the time. He's gonna becircus. Yeah, exactly, the media
circus. But I mean, firstof all, we can't say we're flyover
country, but then we don't wantmedia attention at the same time. I
mean, that's we can't do that. And I don't think Lebron wants to
(23:37):
be the guy anymore. I thinkfor the Lakers he has to be the
guy. I think they got aguy like Anthony Davis not only to help
Lebron, but to carry the offensiveload for the Los Angeles Lakers, which
he just hasn't been able to doon a consistent basis throughout their time there.
Outside I mean, obviously they wona championship, they're good for them,
But I don't I think objectively anybodycan say Anthony Davis has not had
(23:57):
a super successful sting with the LosAngeles Lakers because of just consistency issues.
I don't think lebron at age thirtyeight, thirty nine, really wants to
be putting that load on his shouldersnight in and night out. So joining
a team like the Timberwolves that's gotKarl Anthony Towns that's God, Anthony Edwards,
that's God, Jade McDaniels, andRudy Gobert, I mean, it's
(24:18):
it's kind of a perfect fit.Bro Blake Moore, I'm I'm all for
the Wolves getting Brownie James. Andnot to mention that Bronnie himself again talking
about he wants to have a careerlike a guy like Derek White. I
mean, how awesome would that beto have a guy like Derek White coming
off of the bench, a guythat can come in make an instant impact
on offense play some serviceable defense.Again, nobody's expecting Brownie James to be
(24:40):
the second coming of Lebron James. But if he could be a Derek White,
if he could be a Jamal Cropper, even you know, like half
of what nas Reed is to us, that's still a really good pick.
And we have the possibility of maybeconvincing Lebron freaking James to come to Minnesota.
And I mean, come on,Lebron, You've done it all,
You've won all these championships and allthese different pl He says, why not
come to the quote unquote losing hisfranchise in NBA history and bring them to
(25:07):
the promised land Lebron's I mean, that's the perfect ending to the thirty for
thirty series someday that we're gonna getabout Lebron's life. The perfect ending is
the passing of the torch moment betweenhim and Anthony Edwards and Lebron James winning
the Timberwolves their very first championship. You support it, Brett Blakemore sure?
Who do you think sells more jerseys? Oh? Man, Now, that
would be a competition. It's gottabe man though. It's gotta be man
(25:30):
though. I think it's gotta beand man though, man, he really
just lit the whole world on fire. I think a whole different kind of
audience is going to be tuning intoTimberwolves games next year because Anthony Edwards is
the kind of guy that you know, there's there's people out there that like,
I'm a Lebron fan, and they'vebeen Cavaliers fans, they've been Heat
fans, they've been Laker fans. They'll go wherever Lebron goes. That's I
(25:51):
know, this is like a modernthing, but like following players to me
just feels weird. I can't getbehind it. It is like being a
fan of a player like you seethat a lot in football, where like
I'm a messy guy and wherever hegoes, that's my team, right,
I don't know, just weird tome. I can't I can't get behind
it. It is a little oddwhen you consider that, like you could
be hating just absolutely like foaming atthe mouth hating a team one day and
(26:12):
then the next day, so you'reyour guys on that team, yeah,
and everything you take back everything thatyou said, you know, I mean,
that's kind of how I once withthree to go, Bear slandering the
hell out of him when he waspart of the Jazz and then he comes
here. Oh he's the greatest. He's one of the greatest defenders of all
time. Of course that's natural,but I get I totally get what you're
talking about. But in general,I just think Anthey Edwards is going to
bring a whole different kind of audience. He's the kind of guy that electrifies
(26:33):
people, that young people look upto, that are I mean, we
always talk about him posterizing people, but they're literally posters of Anthony Edwards in
the youth walls all across America. And he's gonna bring a whole different audience
to this Timberwolves team in this upcomingyear. Super excited for that. But
who knows. NBA Draft is rightaround the corner. You could see Lebron
James Junior in a Minnesota Timberwolves jersey. It'll be certainly interesting to see how
(27:00):
that shakes out either way. TheTimberls pick twenty seventh, hopefully they can
get the point guard of the future. I'm sure we'll touch on that eventually
once the NBA Draft gets a littlebit closer. But around the corner we're
going to talk to Heather Rule aboutthe Stanley Cup Final. Game six is
going down tonight seven o'clock PM.Puck Job. You can hear all of
the action right here on the fan. We're going to talk to Heather about

with your questions. Brett, you'rea big fan of philosophy. I always
catch in the studio reading Plato andwhatnot. So you're familiar with twenty first
century philosopher Ladies Love Cool James?Yes, no, maybe cool Jeah.
Oh you may know him as betteras L Cool Jay and twenty first century
(28:34):
philosopher Ladies Love Cool James once said, don't call it a comeback. I've
been here for years. That's gottabe how the Oilers are feeling fresh off

guest covers hockey at such an elitelevel. She's just racking up all types
of journalistic awards like she's Daniel dayLewis during Oscar season. She talks puck
in a variety of different venues, including m MEN Hockey Magazine, where she
(29:17):
is the editor. Everybody, pleasewelcome Heather Rule to nine to noon.
Heather, how's it going good? That's quite thanks, thanks so much for
having me appreciate of course, Yeah, we called you up to talk hockey
obviously, but scrolling through your timelineon Twitter, you're really you're a woman
of multitudes. I scrolled like onetime, and you're talking about baseball,
(29:38):
you're talking about basketball, you're talkingabout your favorite local gentlemen's clubs. Okay,
I made that last one out.But all different kinds of stuff.
And obviously you're an award winning hockeyjournalists. But for what I can gather,
your favorite sport is actually NASCAR.Is that accurate? Quote? Eby
car racing? Okay is Yeah, that's kind of one of my one of
(30:02):
my favorite sports that I've liked sinceI was a kid. My dad has
always loved any fire and IndyCar racing, and yeah, I've been a few
times, been to some other races, So yeah, I love love racing.
That's awesome. I've been thinking aboutgetting into racing lately, just because
there's not you know, there's nota whole lot going on in the summer.
There's baseball. Obviously, I lovebaseball and everything like that, but
I've been thinking about getting into racing, and NASCAR just seems so fun.
(30:25):
I don't I tried it with Fone. I just couldn't do it.
I like Drive to Survive. Ilike the show and everything, but I
just couldn't do it. Nascar justseems like it's a whole lot of fun.
Who's somebody I should root for ifI'm going to start watching NASCAR?
Nascar, let's well, I mean, I don't know the drivers as much
(30:48):
as Scott Dixon that I will tellyou. An ady car that is my
favorite. Okay, an IndyCar.Yeah, he's he's an ice man.
If they call him, he's ame. All right. I'm gonna have
to keep my eyes open for ScottDixon, just like I'll keep my eyes
open for Game six of the StanleyCup Final tonight down in Edmonton seven o'clock
(31:08):
puck drop. In the first threegames in the series had their serge Bobrowski.
He was like a bulletproof vest.I mean, he was stopping every
single shot. And after the lasttwo games he's looking like I don't know
if you've ever seen Scarface, buthe's looking like Tony Montana at the end
of Scarface. He's just absolutely justgetting shot on left and right. The
Oilers have scored thirteen goals in thelast two games, and not all of
(31:30):
them were on Bob but that's partiallybecause he got pulled early on in the
second. What's been going on withSergei Bobrowski over these last couple of games.
Yeah, you know, that's agood question. On the you know,
the game four where he got pulled. I mean it was I was,
you know, out in about andkind of keeping an eye on the
(31:52):
game, and every time I wouldlook up, there was another goal of
tight Edmonton. So you know,I think a lot of it has to
do with Edmonton is just you know, I kind of woke up a little
bit offensively and we're just torn onthe shots for sure, and Conor mcgavid
especially, you know, is reallyjust the playmaker that he is, scored
(32:13):
goals and the assists that he's getting. But I think, you know,
Bob has to be a little rattledthat after these last couple of games,
especially that one getting pulled. Youknow, I think that's one for Florida
for sure. You just you know, kind of just throw away a little
bit too, because as many goalsas you give up, it still is
only one lost one game. SoI think he needs to obviously come up
(32:36):
big and the deal is too now, I mean, the pressure goes back
to Florida so much with Game six. That's kind of what I love about
the playoff series and the duke whereyou go and now Florida hasn't closed it
out twice, they had to goback to Edmonton and the pressure is back
on them, even though Edmonton stillhas two games that they have to win.
It's you know, they're I think, playing with a lot more confidence
(32:58):
right now, and you know thatthe just back in Florida, yeah,
one hundred percent. Like obviously thePanthers are only you know, one went
away from winning their first ever StanleyCup Final. But to me, it
kind of it feels like Edmonton's theone that's in the driver's seat right now.
I mean, they have all themomentum right now, right Oh for
sure, Yes, I totully agreewith that. I think, you know,
(33:20):
Florida, if they want to closeit out at home, they really
would have wanted to do that inthe last game because they do not want
to go back for a game seven. I mean they want to go back
home obviously that after the long sideafter Game six, but I don't think
they want to get this to agame seven. I think, you know,
Florida wants to get this wrapped upif they can. But I think
Edmonton, you know, like yousaid, it's there, they're playing figure
(33:45):
or not. They have the confidenceMcDavid is you know, a couple of
four point games. He's seeing it. And you know, one of the
things they love that I think yousaid it after game two is you know
it's it's supposed to be hard,it's you know, and they were down
oh two, which wasn't entirely surpriseither. I mean, you know,
the first couple of games in Florida, and you know, I think coming
in, you know, they kindof stuck by Gallups a little bit in
(34:08):
the conference finals, and you know, I think Edmonton has you know,
they're they're feeling it a little bitmore, and especially now in front of
their home crowd, and you know, they're trying to do something that you
know, not many teams have evenforced a game six I think in NHL
history seeing down all three, butyou kind of you know, that's why
I love you kind of look atit game by games. You get any
(34:29):
deep playoff, friends, you can'tlook at as all we have to important
a row and you know, youwin one game and only one two and
now you're back home in front ofyour fans, and obviously you have to
win, but you know, Ithink they have all the confidence. At
the same time, I wouldn't besurprised if Florida, you know, takes
your business and because they do notwant to, you know, get back
(34:51):
to a Game seven and you knowa lot. I think I saw something
like six of the last eight teamsthat have won the Cup half wanted on
the road. Well, I think, you know, homeice vendors sometimes can
be tricky in the playoffs because someof themes you do maybe feel more pressure
me in ton of your home fans. But yeah, I would give the
edge, I think, I reallyAnd who wouldn't want to see Game seven
(35:16):
if you don't have a dog inthe find necessarily, But I think I
mentioned has some momentum. Hey,Heather Brett here, one of my kind
of feelings throughout the series is thatFlorida has the better team, but Edmonton
has the better stars. And you'veyou've talked about McDavid, who who now
looks like the generational talent that heis, especially the last couple of games.
(35:37):
Do you feel like because with thatgiven that, at least in my
opinion that Florida's is more of acomplete team. Do you think it's McDavid
fully on his back hearing the team, or do you think the entire Edmonton
Oilers team is really sharing the weightand getting back to it or is it
just the Connor McDavid show. Ithink it's well, I think it's the
(35:58):
cod of McDavid show in the sensethat he obviously had to you know,
kind of step up and carry thingsthat for sure more than the rest of
the team, and those first publicgames what they were shut out. I
think you know, they got onegoal game too, you know, and
that was kind of the story too, like, hey, you know,
mc david, if Gary felt ifthey don't step up and start scoring here,
(36:19):
I mean, this is going tobe over really quickly. So I
think it's I think you're right.I mean, it's definitely kind of you
know, Superstar versus the complete teamof Florida. But you know, you
obviously need everyone to kind of contributein any players finishing the plays. You
know, McDavid makes him the icetoo. But I think he's, you
(36:40):
know, without a doubt, kindof the big reason why this series is
still going on. The Other thing, that I want to talk about is
usually at this time of the year, it's always referee and officiating controversy and
all I can't believe they made thiscall. And I can remember one that
was an embellishment on the I thinkit was in the third period on Kid
(37:01):
Chuck if I remember correctly, Butoverall, it really hasn't been a talking
point. Is that just go toshow how good of a series it was,
or do you feel like they finallykind of figured it out They've got
a good officiating crew. What's theofficiating in this series been like for you?
Well, I mean, you know, I haven't you know, watched
(37:22):
every minute of every game this yearit's so far either but I kind of
like that it hasn't been a talkingway. Like you said, it's you
know, I think back and beyour step in the right direction, because
you don't want to have, youknow, games coming out and you're like,
oh, there was this really badcall or this and that. So
you know, I think it's goodthat that's not something that's being talked about,
(37:45):
and it's kind of an opportunity forthe players to shine, whether it's
you know, in goal, whetherit's with David whether it's kad Chuck,
you know, kind of letting them, you know, dictate play and being
able to show okay, he's youknow, the winning team on the IE
is going to be because of whatthey can do and not because of certain
calls are getting talking to head theirRule, editor of m N Hockey Magazine
(38:08):
about all things stan Lee Cup hadthere obviously Connor mc We've mentioned Connor McDavid
several times. He's widely considered tobe the best player in the world.
Wasn't have him making as much ofan impact in the first three games as
he had over the last year.Believe he has something like eight points over
the last couple of games, whichI think I saw on the ticker on
the TV that said that's the mostin Stanley Cup final history. What's been
(38:30):
the biggest difference in his game overbetween the first three games in the last
two, Like, what is isFlorida playing playing him differently defensively or is
it just you can only contain thebest player in the world for so long.
I think it's you can only containit for so long. I mean
eventually he was going to find hisgame. I think to keep him shut
(38:53):
down and shut out for that long, you know, for a whole series
is going to be really really differoccults, you know, and they were
you know, even though they lostGame three, I think you know,
it wasn't one that was completely outreachedfor them either. But yeah, I
think he's just really stepped up hisgame and just you know, the mentality
(39:16):
and you know, the quotes they'veseen from him and the interviews and you
know, again just saying you know, things like you know, he can't
wait to see what you know, the team is made of that kind of
thing. You know, this isit's supposed to be hard. It's not
supposed to be easy to you know, to to win the company. They
made it this fart you need sixteenwins to do it, and it's you
know, kind of it's not overtill it's over. I think just the
(39:38):
attitude that he's brought and just kindof the fight he's shown on the ice
and just offensively what he can do. There's still things I think, you
know, like when we watch cookriesoff like the wild and then there's things
that these second players do that theystill surprise you. And there's still things
they do in the ice that's likeoh, man, Like I didn't you
know, I didn't see that comingor I didn't know he could do that.
(39:59):
So I think he's really just kindof stepped up this team. Well,
it'd be nice if Capriceov had drytitle behind his back too, that'd
be really nice. But that's astory for another day for sure. If
you were to come from the Panthersperspective, let's say for fun that there's
a Florida Panthers fan listening, whichyou never know there could be, what
would you tell that Panthers fan tosell some hope and what do they got
(40:20):
to do to finally close out theseries and when their first Cup? I
think for them they got to justkind of get back to to their game
and you know, like you mentionedtoo, just the kind of the team
debt that they have and you know, relying on each other and you know
what's up and you know, everythingthat they've done so well to get them
(40:43):
this far already, and to realizethat, hey, you know, they
are still in the driver's seat evenif momentum has shifted, and just kind
of that motivation of you know,we don't want to you know, kind
of make history in a bad wayand you know, getting him sevening.
You know, they have the players, they they want redemption from last year.
(41:05):
They've you know been in this spotbefore, you know, very recently,
so you know, I think ifthey kind of get back to what
they're what they are good at offensivelyand defensively, you know, hopefully Bob
can have a better game too.But you know, even the other night,
they almost you know, kind ofhad to come back in that game
(41:28):
and they almost erased the deficite thatthat they had. You know, I
think to me, you know,as they say the first goal is a
big one, I think getting thefirst goal scoring early would be huge for
Florida and this one just confidence wise, you don't want to kind of give
I'd mentioned that that early momentum, but you know, I think, yeah,
(41:49):
just for Florida, just reminded that, hey, you know there they
still lead in the series, andyou just kind of have to look at
tonight. You can't look at,Okay, we last two games, we're
on our you know, we're ona losing ski hit. You just got
to look at tonight talking to havetheir rule. A couple more questions for
her if the Panthers do find away to close it out tonight. Who's
the MVP? I think obviously unanimouslyeverybody thought it'd be Bob after the first
(42:10):
three games. But after the lasttwo, do you think it's different or
would you still say it's Bobrowski?Yeah, I don't know. Yeah,
for the last games, I don'tknow if it can be Bob, you
know, to Check just I thinkoffensively and what he's done, Barkov as
well, you know, maybe oneof those two guys, I think just
a production offensively, what they've beenable to do. You know, I
(42:37):
would say if someone has a reallygood, kind of outstanding individual performance tonight,
that could go a long way too. But yeah, put Check is
definitely out there. So what's yourHeather, what's your your personal prediction?
Do you think? Do you thinkthe Oilers take it to seven? Do
you think they win tonight? Ordo you think Florida closes it out and
wins their first Stanley Cup. Yeah, it's kind of a tough fun.
(42:59):
I mean, i'd like just I'dlove to see a game seven, and
I'd like to see it going intoit too, you know, I think
I you know, i'd like tosee Edmonton McDavid, you know, kind
of raise the cup and you know, he is such a superstar, one
of the best players. You know, it's because if you would ask me,
(43:19):
I mean I thought, you know, before the last name that Florida
would I close it out? Andthey did it. You know, to
me, it was kind of interestinghow similar to the NBA Finals and and
the Stanley Cup Final were with justyou know, both years done three to
zero and then the other team kindof clawing back really decisively in that next
game. And you know, wesaw what happened with Boston Dallas. But
(43:40):
you know, I'm gonna I'm gonnago ahead and say, say Edmonton's forces
the game seven. They've got themomentum, and you know, with with
McDavid having if you can have anothergreat game, I think the first team
seven I do as well. Itjust kind of seems like they're feeling it
right now. They remembered who theyare. I'm not an elite hockey mind.
This is basically the as hockey playoffsthat I've ever been kind of locked
(44:01):
into. But it's so much it'sso much fun now that Edmonton's actually making
it a competitive series, so hopefullythat they can get it done. I
don't care who wins at the endof the day. But I just want
to see a game seven, becausewho the hell doesn't want to see a
game seven? Uh? More, pertaining to local interestshether, the NHL Draft
is right around the corner. Whatdo you think night one? Is it
(44:22):
as a two night affair or justa one night thing? It's a two
night thing? What is okay? What does Night one for the Minnesota Wild
look like in your opinion? Goodquestion. I am not studying the draft
yet, so I have been focusedon hockey season, you know, I
(44:42):
think just overall, I mean it'syou know, as everyone looks that they
still kind of handcuffed with the PREVIOUMserior deals. So yeah, that's kind
of the big news for at leastanother year. Yeah, unfortunately it is,
but fortunately for us that we getsomeone like you to cover hockey locally
here. Thanks how that we appreciateyou for hopping on. We'll have to
(45:04):
have you on again sometime. Allright, thanks so much, you appreciate
it. Heather Rule of m NHockey Magazine, The editor of MN Hockey
Magazine, talking all things Stanley Cup, what's your prediction for tonight? Bred
Blake more. You're an eleaite ahockey mind. Do you want to see
a game seven? Do you thinkthere will be a game seven? Wives,
(45:25):
I've said Panthers in six since dayone, so I'm going to stand
behind that and go Panthers in six. I don't want to see a game
seven, but only because I havea really good friend who's a Panthers fan,
so I want to see them.He was there at Game five,
so I was like really pulling themto win, so you could see them
lift the cup right in front likethe opposite obliterate. Yeah, no,
(45:52):
it was. It was a lotof fun, man. That's save at
the very end that made that Ohmy god, oh so much fun man,
it is. I'm really good intoit said, since it's been a
lot of fun to watch the playoffs, and I kind of like, like
Heather was saying, I kind ofyou know that, h I was kind
of leaning over the NBA's shoulders, copying their homework a little bit, but
they decided to take it a differentroute. Now there is a game six.
(46:13):
Did I tell you what my friend'sshirt he was wearing that Game five
It said, could chuck around andfind out genius. We'll see if Brett
Blakemore is close. Friends and therest of the Florida Panthers fans down south
will be celebrating tonight. Game sixgoes down at seven p m. You
can listen to all the action righthere on the fans second hour of nine
(46:37):
