Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, Buyna, Tarde and Boulah whatever language you speak,
wherever you're at in the world. Scratched that the galaxy,
scratch that the solar system, scratch that the universe, humans
and aliens like you are tuned into what we affectually
called the worst case scenario. Guys, breaking news right off
(00:26):
the top.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Of the show, Bradley News. We almost didn't make it today. Again,
we barely made it. I know, it's hard to believe.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Wow, we barely made it to the to the air
this week. You guys, you know, are fearless leader in
program director Chad Abbitt familiar with them. You guys know
of them.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah, he doesn't tell us anything because you have all
this intel and we're surprised every week.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Well, I don't have to find out through the rumor mill,
through the grape.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yeah. I've seen his name in the trades, but haven't
had the pleasure of meeting him yet.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I've heard he's a big tech guy.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah. Yeah, he's always at the forefront of technology. I mean,
just look at these computers that we have in here.
It's like something out of Star Trek. He actually was
the first person to use voice to text. Yah, there
you go a pioneer that is a radio for five
people too. He's so in detect that he actually hired
(01:21):
AI Artificial intelligence now Allen Iverson to replace us for
this week. The only problem was that eventually the AI
found out how much we make and it deleted himself.
So once again we are once again back on your
airwaves on a Sunday, last time in studio for probably
(01:43):
the year.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I would imagine we.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Got a couple more shows out at the State Fair,
Minnesota State Fair, which is getting started this week. You know,
the fan is live and local at the State Fair
every single day.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
We'll be out there twice.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I'll be out there on Tuesday as well, ahead of
the Ludicrous and Tea Paint concert. And when I say we,
I mean me myself, Max Fuller aka Max Strick, Mahomes
aka fro name It aka a million other things of course,
And obviously if I'm out there joining me out at
the State there will be none other than this next
guy who is so excited about the new alien movie.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
I was wondering where you're gonna go with that?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yes, And he completely remodeled his car to look like
a spaceship. He's been in the studio, floating in zero
gravity all morning and eating food out of a tube.
Back in Iowa, they called him the Hawkeye State Hottie,
but here in Minnesota we simply call him Brett.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
We come in peace some more. That's where you get
the humans and aliens.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I think about this too, when Abbott tried to replace
us as AI. Imagine just a Robbie story generator where
it's like.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Charles Barkley and we.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Were at the New York Mets game, So Robbie Mad lives.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Is that what we're doing?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Oh my god, I would love a Robbie AI story
generator that might have to be a future segment here
on a worst case scenario, and also joining us out
at the State Bear. Speaking of Robbie, it'll be the
man of a million stories himself. Surely today he will
tell us a couple more of those stories, tell us
something like, you know, he once Outsmoked Snoop Dogg and
(03:25):
Willie Nelson in a smoke off that he was the
original driver of the monster truck Gravedigger or something along
those lines, and somehow it'll all be true. That's why
we call him the human Onion. That's why we call
him the international man of mystery. That's why we call
him Sir Robbie of House Rosen. I'll thank you for
(03:48):
that wonderful intro.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
As always, although I was more of a Bigfoot than
Grave Dinner, I have more stories in the Empire Steel Building.
But I love being here with you guys on Sundays,
and I can't wait to get it started.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
I like the Long Island sound like the way to
get it just doesn't work with the new in show.
I gotta find a way to work it back in there.
I missed the Long Islands. I thought about that today,
but I'm like, I got it. I got it is.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
It's very fitting.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It legitimately is a body of water north of Long Island,
and I am plenty of sounds.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
It's all more fitting in the Hawkeye Hottie. I don't
sell yourself short. You're a heart throb. Yeah, you're a Romeo.
You're a Thorio.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Okaya, Clark has nothing on that nickname on you.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Okay, you're breaking up.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Weird question to start off the show, please, I don't
think it's a question I've ever asked anybody before. What
was the first thing you guys thought of this morning
when you woke up, Do you remember going to the bathroom? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Human need, human needs, human needs, and need to refill
the humidifier. That's the first thing you thought of this morning. Yeah?
Is it always the same?
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Is it you wake up every morning and you got
to use the bathroom or it's a different thing every morning.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
No, definitely different, for sure, I would say the same.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
And for some reason this morning, I mean, it took
me a while to figure out why. It's not usually
on my mind. I don't know why it would be,
but strangely enough, the Oakland A's. It was the first
thing that I'm just say, Okay, I didn't know why.
At first, I was very confused. I was wondering if
maybe the A's were like beaming some pr into people's
(05:28):
brains from across the country, or what's going on. But
then I woke up and I thought about it for
a little bit longer, and then I remembered that I
read a story recently. Because everybody knows now that the
Oakland A's they are moving out of Oakland, much as
every professional sports team has over the last decade or so,
unfortunately for the people of Oakland, and they will be
going to loss Vegas, and I read a story earlier
(05:51):
this week that a couple of rooms were so tore
up about the A's leaving in Oakland, which who wouldn't
be I mean, I would be devastated if any of
our core four teams Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
And they and they have a ton of diehard fans
there by the Bay that really really support that team,
really grassroots kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, and it's I mean, it's a historic franchise.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Obviously.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
You know, my favorite player of all time, Ricky Henderson,
played for the A's, So they were they were tore
up about the A's leaving, and they had this crazy
idea that they were gonna crowdfund a brand new baseball team,
and which I mean, that's that sounds preposterous. Like I've
heard of crowdfunding video games, crowdfunding movies, but an entire
(06:32):
sports team is just is just wild to me. And
they just started playing games in Oakland this year.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Actually they were going to.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Play in the coliseum itself, but the A's shut it down,
probably because there was more people that were going to
go to this game than an actual game. This team
is the Oakland Ballers, by the way, which I love,
I love that name. So it's every by all accounts,
it's off to a rousing success. But it's just a
really fascinating story if you get a chance to get
(07:00):
into it, because this, I mean this could this could
change the game if you, if you, if you have
enough support in your city, had enough capital behind it,
anybody anywhere can be the owner of a team. And
I'm not talking about John Spano style. I mean a
legit owner of a team.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
For those of you that don't know John Spano out
there bought the Islanders with imaginary money.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Basically, yeah, historic scammer.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Watched the thirty for thirty If you've never seen it,
it's incredibly fascinating. I'm upset. I've watched it like months
ago and I'm still obsessed with it.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's great. But yeah, they'll become a legit owner of
a team.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
And I think this is one of those bits where
like multiple fans can you can invest into the team.
Now there's a bunch of different owners, you know, like
like the Packers or like the Minnesota War And we're
lucky enough here in Minneapolis and Minnesota to have every
kind of team that there is, from football to football
to roller derby, we got everything covered here pretty much.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Video.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah, seriously, every everything, even specifically, yeah, exactly, call of duty,
call of duty professional team. We've got everything covered. But
but say, just for example, hypothetically, you're starting fresh, Say
you're a bright eyed young upstart, and you're looking to
start your very own sports team, any sport, any city
(08:13):
in the world. What sport are you getting into, Which
city are you basing your team out of? And what's
the name of your team?
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Okay, that's a very very interesting question there on a
lot of fronts. I would say, just thinking outside the box.
I know how deep the h the passion runs for
and I'm not the biggest NASCAR fan in the world,
but like bringing a either a or kind of building
(08:44):
a team out of here and just kind of or
maybe putting a track here somewhere because there's.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
There's there's nothing really.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I mean the closest one obviously down in Iowa, they
just had an event for the first time ever I
think at the Iowa Speedway.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
But just putting a.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
NASCAR our level speedway here and creating your own team
and just kind of having it based out of here
and then just kind of traveling the country with that I.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Know that's way way outside the box.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
I know that I know because I wanted to do
something different, Like I just I was just thinking about
different things, like rather than just having a baseball team
in some city that doesn't have a baseball team, or
a hockey team in a non traditional market, I was
just kind of thinking outside the box, something that I
normally wouldn't be interested in, that I think would be
more of a business venture rather than something that I'm
(09:31):
super passionate about. So I took it from a different
angle rather than taking it from a die hard sports egg.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Would you rather have a NASCAR track in the Twin
Cities or an F one track? I'd rather have the
NASCAR one.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
The concept of F one is way cooler to me
than the actual execution. Like I got into the show
like everybody else did, and then when I actually started
watching Racist, I was like, this kind of sucks.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Yeah, like whoever starts.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
In usually finishes, And first I don't understand the passing
rules and everything. I'm kind of out on F one.
It's still fascinating to learn about from like the story
side of things, like everything that's going on throughout the season,
but yeah, especially its poor timing because I mean as
soon as I got into F one the next verstap
In appeared and he went.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Every yea, literally the rich team, stay rich, they have
the best cars, blah blah blah. Exactly, yeah, pretty much.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
But NASCAR is sweet, man.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
I think they did have They used to have a
speedway at the State on the State Fair.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
I think I don't think it was that. Like, I
don't know what level of NASCAR.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Is because there's like different there's the Truck Series and
all that type of stuff. But I think there was
a legit motorway in Minnesota previously.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
I know they do have a couple of smaller ones,
this one up in Brainerd. I know that they do
the funny car races at I think there's one down
in Elco. But as far as a huge kind of
NASCAR style track would be so cool, just maybe fifty
one hundred miles from the Twin cities that people can
go to and you can have concerts there, you can.
I mean you saw in Bristol that they put a
(11:02):
football game there at one point, so it would be
kind of cool to bring here. But again, quite a
far fetched idea, but hatched from the brain of Robbie Rosen.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I like it though, I like it. I've been trying
to get into NASCAR lately. I I kind of like
the idea and seeing a race in person would just
be so much freaking fun. Man, you have a team name,
what wore the team name?
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Do you just hr T the House racing team hr House?
How about you, Brett Blake Moore?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
You're if you are a bright eyed, bushy tailed young
upstar looking to make your name in the sports world,
are you where are you going and what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
So a few things got crossed off. Hockey in Phoenix,
that's out. I don't think hockey in Atlanta, at least
downtown Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Fourth time the fan has learned it has not worked. Yeah,
I mean I think they're going to give it another go.
By the way, Yeah, I think they are.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
They're building an arena out in the burbs, and they
think that's the magic elixir, which.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Maybe maybe most perhaps.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
If you want to do a good business plan, like
to make money, you be the first team in a
sport in Vegas, right like the basketball team like that
is a is a slam dun no pun intended to
make money there that people will go to or the baseball,
but the basketball is really the only unclaimed one. But
what I think would be fun from a viewership slash
(12:24):
chaos perspective is if we had an NFL team in
Saint Paul.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Just split this down right down the middle.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
I imagine the chaos twice a year, Saint Paul versus Minneapolis.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
That's two football teams. Unbelievable because it happens all the time.
And you guys favorite sport football soccer. London has like
a bajillion different teams. When I was when I was
lucky enough to be in Brazil, Rio has four different
teams in the Brazilian league as well, and that it
gets crazy up in there. Man, there's already like this
I almost said unspoken. It is very very much spoken.
(12:59):
Allow beef between Minneapolis and St. Paul, with most people
being on the Minneapolis side, but a few St. Paul
defenders and they are adamant and they will defend Saint
Paul to the death. But man, I love that idea
of having in any sport, having a Minneapolis team and
a Saint Paul team. The rivalry you would just be insane.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Now, Brett, to that point, do you think that Minneapolis
could support a hockey team at the Target Center in
addition to the wild here considering this is the state
of hockeball.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
If you ask our friends Zach Howson, depends on if
there's coke in the arena. No, they absolutely could support him,
for sure. I don't know which one would be the
most I guess that would be the most fun. The
most fun rivalry would.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Be football.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
In it.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Yeah, yes, but I think I think both gonna play
in that stadium, like well, they're gonna build a new.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
May have before they build a new stadium in Saint Paul,
oh Man.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
That would be so much fun though, and selfishly, as
a Minnesota sports fan, gives us double the chances to
win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Correct that this might be the move, and it gives
us double the material to talk about. Right when we've
milked the Vikings drive, we're talking about you know, third
string right guard?
Speaker 2 (14:20):
You just talking about, Paul exactly what division?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
I mean?
Speaker 4 (14:24):
I guess they'd have to be in our division? Right,
So for sure, would we kick out the Lions? I
guess get them out of here, Samurai, or.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Or just move the Lions.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
There you go?
Speaker 1 (14:40):
That would be Dan Campbell eating in St. Paul caps
on the menu at whatever restaurant that he's at.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
I love that. I love both of those ideas. But no,
then no, but actually no, but for once.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
No.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
But usually when Max is involved, there's butts involved. But
no butt all. Well, you like big butts and you
cannot lie. I call me a b Lincoln brother, I
can't lie. Or was that George Washington? No, it was
a Lincoln. Okay, they had wooden teeth. Yeah, yeah, maybe
it was.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
I would want to do a Savannah Banana Harlem Globe
Trotter's style team. But for pickleball, that would be come
on now, I mean that could get pretty. That would
that would be really funny. I mean, first of all,
pickleball it's it's the it's the it's.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
The new thing.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
It's the fastest growing sport in the country I think
amongst old people for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
And it would be so I mean, you know, tennis
and that kind of world. It needs some more personality.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Like imagine if you just saw an old guy out there,
like just doing Harlem Globe Trotters style tricks playing pickleball,
that would be that would be amazing. I would have
so much funny. Yeah, they'd have to have a ridiculous name.
I don't know, the Minneapolis pickled Balls.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I have no idea, but I think a Savannah Banana
style team, like Brett Blake or said, being the first
one to do it for pickleball.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
I think that's money in the bank. I think so.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
And then from there you can actually start your own
kind of league there and maybe franchise out and perhaps
start some sort of pickleball revolution around the country, like
the Bananas try to start down in Savannah.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
So great idea there, Max, And we got a lot
of people on the text line.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Someone's saying a flag football team, which I mean with
the Olympics coming up, that might be a yeah, a
growing sport here a lot of people. I saw there
was some contention from the flag football people about the
NFL players possibly playing in that game when it comes
to LA in the twenty twenty eight Summer Olympics. So
might want to get another thing you can get in
on early flag football. We also got some people, Yeah
(16:47):
there was a speedway here. Someone else is saying, and
someone is saying that they that they claim that their
friend lives in Atlanta and they are.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Hockey hungry down there, Brett Blake Mark. You know, once
upon a time Double B would go to Atlanta Thrasher games. Okay,
this is true.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Okay, there's some obvious answers to this next question.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
But is there a city, any city that you think
deserves a professional sports team.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
I think with the just the growing nature of this
and I love Nashville, Tennessee. So that's and and it's
been rumored there for a long time.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
That's from the worst drivers in the country. Well, well
there's that.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
But certainly a fever and a hunger for baseball there.
I mean, they've supported a Triple A team there for
a long time. They really draw well, and it's certainly
a tourist destination for those around the country, especially in
the Southeast. I remember living in Atlanta, I used to
go up to Nashville to get my hockey. Fis actually
Brett when the Thrashes weren't there, but the Predators were
(17:45):
in Nashville, So I would go up there, and I
was talking to the people around there, and they were
they wanted a professional baseball team, you know. They they
got the Titans to move up there from from Houston.
They've supported that pretty well, have that fairly new stadium,
and I do think that they can support baseball in
Nashville and to that long island sound common.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
I think the name of the team there is the
Nashville Sounds. You would be yeah, just walk out in
a big just just song. Note, Yeah, Nashville would be
sweet man.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Everybody I've never I mean my family's from Tennessee, Memphis, Tennessee.
I've never had a chance to go to Nashville. Everybody
speaks glowingly of it, and they've got me obviously. The
Titans got great fans of volunteers, got great fans and
all that squash. Yeah yeah, I mean, you know, speaking,
you know, patting myself on the back here a little bit.
Hopefully you come up with a better name than the Predators.
Still never vibed with that name. Teams, I still never
(18:42):
vibes with that name. I think they should still go
through a name change. Predators doesn't usually have a whole
lot of probably of connotation, but I think, yeah, Nashville
is a is a gimme for for an MLB team,
for sure, especially when I mean like half the half
the state roots.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
For the Cardinals. Yeah, yeah, for sure, but like the Cardinals, Yeah,
give them a team that is Braves country. Yeah, it's yeah,
a lot of Braves and also some Cardinals as well. Max, Yeah,
Brett Blakemore.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Is there a city out there for any sport that
you think is deserving of a team. Obviously there's you know,
and there's some slam dungs here like again, no pun intended,
but Seattle is going to get the SuperSonics back, and
unless they change the name, but they're going to get
a basketball team back. They're going to get Las Vegas
is going to get a basketball team.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
These are almost shoe wins.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
But is there any like non obvious answers that you
would any team that you'd like to see get.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Well, here, I'll drop a grenade and then I'll let
Robbie go. Quebec City should get an NHL team. Robbie
your thoughts, I mean, I guess so all but I
thought you'd be all in.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
But I guess it would be behind some other cities,
especially here in the States.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
You know the way.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
Fine, I'm not going to go down a whole financial
road here about why Quebec and the taxes and everything
really don't support that and why free agents haven't gone
to play for the Canadians because of the exceedingly high
tax rate in the province of Quebec.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
So not to get too technical there, but.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yes, from a fan standpoint, of course, the Nordeaks were
an amazing franchise and they lasted there for a while,
but again they moved. They won Cups and I do
think with a brand new arena in Quebec City they
could host a team.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
But it wouldn't be my first choice. I like, I
mean I do. I'm not a similar vein.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
I don't know anything about the Quebec tax Is there
anything I didn't know that you worked for the city,
the city park board. But I would love more international
teams in every sport. I get logistically it's a nightmare
for some of these for some of these leagues, but
and then they've discussed it forever. A team or two
in London for the NFL, I mean possibly. I've heard
(20:42):
rumors about a team in Mexico for the NFL and
the NBA. I mean again, I know that it would
be a nightmare if there was some way to get
a MLB team or a basketball team down in Rio
de Janeiro. I mean just the fervor from these international fans.
They bring a whole different level of passion to the
(21:03):
sports that they love. I mean, obviously in these two
instances in London and in Rio, it's soccer and the
atmosphere there is, and Brett, you can attest to this
because you've been to one. It's unmatched even to anything
that I've seen in American sports.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
I've been to playoff games, whatever.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
The two teams in Rio facing off against each other
was the most electric environment I've ever been in a
sports setting. And I would love to capture some of
that energy that they have there in Brazil, or in London,
or in Mexico or some of these international spaces and
bring it to some of these sports, especially like a
sport like baseball, which is lacking in some energy at times,
is lacking in personality at times, but it doesn't have
(21:41):
to be, because we saw in the World Baseball Classic
how fun baseball can really be.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
And the difference between here and overseas is that here
teams are viewed as franchises.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
They're viewed as ways to make money.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Overseas, and in Brazil and countries like that, the club
is the fabric of the town. It's the fabric of
the people. The people are embodied by the club. Here
it's more of kind of a corporate field. Yes, we
love our teams and we we we wear the gear
and we and we go to the games and stuff.
(22:17):
But there, I think it's just it hits home, just
emotionally more for those people that really grew up with
these smaller clubs, like you said, and in Rio and
some of these smaller towns around the UK and Europe.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Yeah, for sure, and and well and it's the only
show in town. There is no competition for soccer in
a lot of these places. But just bringing that energy
that these fans are used to, I think it would
be I think it would be absolutely electric.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
Man.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
And we got a lot of people texting in on
the text and someone said, Minnesota needs a second MLB
team that would actually spend money. So Brandon from New Mexico,
who's always texting, and Albuquerque deserves a team.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
New Mexico no teams, no professional teams at all. I
don't know what's up with that. You ever been No,
I have, I've been to Albuquerque before.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
Yeah, it doesn't it doesn't deserve a team. I mean
it's it's a nice Brandon from New Mexico to go
to help. It is a nice town in the mountains there.
But they have two college teams with a pretty big
rivalry and the and the pit's a fun place to
see a game. But I don't think a professional team
other than the Isotopes will survive.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
So yeah, just be happy with you brand, Go Topes,
Mike Texan, Max my Man, you are a daylight and
a dollar short.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
I mean definitely on the dollars short part.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Today at noon on Channel nine, the PPA Tour Pickleball
is hosting from Bristol, Tennessee, the Bristol Open. I didn't
realize I was. I was behind the curve there on
the pickleball. But still I think I like my Savannah
Banana idea. I think that there's still there's still a
lane for that. There is definitely still a lane for
the pickle ballers. And this is the People show on
(23:51):
Cafe and and we want to hear from. If you
have any ideas about a sports team and it's any city,
any sport that you would want to open up, you
can text us six four six eight. You can call
the Hala Hotline one one hundred and three to two
zero five three two six, or shoot us an email
at boothakfan dot com, or you can even send us
a talkback on the free iHeartRadio app. Big Time Show Today, Big, Big,
(24:13):
Big Time Show Today with a capital B. We got
lead play by play voice for the NFL on Fox,
Kevin Burkhardt calling in to the show to talk about
partnering with Tom Brady in the booth this season, of course,
our Minnesota Vikings and much much more. And speaking of
those same Minnesota Vikings, we have linebacker Bo Richter joining us.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
He's gonna call in.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
He's been absolutely electric throughout these two preseason games thus far,
so we're gonna get to know Bo a little bit.
And as usual, we will close out the show with
the fan Favorite segment. How it works is the three
of us will each present a topic and then we
put it all in your beautiful, perfectly manicured hands. You,
the lovely listener, can go on Twitter slash x at
cafan one zero zero three and vote on what you
(24:57):
want us to discuss in the final segment. Robbie Rosenhaus,
you're offering for the fan Favorite segment today.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Is very timely considering I went on a date that
did not wind up going so well this.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Week, so long, So your worst date stories and I'll
tell mine from this week. Cool man.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
I wish Haley was here. Yeah, I know she would
have some great I know she would have some great stories.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
When I found out before the show that she wasn't
joining us today, I was really sad.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
I was going to save this for next week, but
I decided to use it today.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
That's the great worst date stories. How about you, Brett Blakemore.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Yeah, I know where we got to get to Burkhart here,
So I'm going to be quick guilty pleasure TV shows
that's just garbage TV that you just loved.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
I got a couple of for sure. Yeah, lots pleasure
garbage TV shows. And for me, no surprise. I want
to talk about movies.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I saw Alien, the Original Alien for the first time
in anticipation of the new Alien movie, and that was
my first time seeing that movie. And there's so many
For somebody that loves film as much as I do,
there's so many blind spots. I want to know, what
is a really popular movie that you've never seen? Like,
what is a movie that's like it's almost outlandish that
you've never seen this movie. I've got plenty of them
(26:12):
in my repertoire that and it's gonna be funny because
if I'll share one and all of us will be
what you see. Yeah, I'm sure that everybody's got their
blind spot. So so popular movies that you've never seen,
that is crazy that you've never seen. Those are your
three options. You can go on Twitter, slash x at
campean one zero zero three. But as Brett Blakemore said,
we got Kevin Burkhardt, lead play by play guy on
(26:36):
the NFL on Fox coming up next.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Welcome back into the worst case scenario.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
Robbie Rosenals here with Max Fuller and Brett Blake Moore
and let's not waste any more time.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I want to get right to my next guest.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
He is the lead voice for the NFL on Fox,
also the pre and post game host for the MLB
on Fox, and he's a longtime friend of mine, Kevin
Burkhart at Kevin Burkhart on Twitter, and we welcome him
in to the program.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Kevin, how are you this.
Speaker 7 (27:20):
Morning, row brother.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I'm doing okay, and the Vikings are doing a little
more than okay.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
I do think after their their offseason moves, although the
injury to JJ McCarthy has set them back long term.
Short term, Sam Darnold, you saw a lot of him
clearly with the Jets and then kind of bouncing around
to Carolina and San Francisco. How do you see him
fitting in with the Vikings and just kind of your
overall sense as to how they fit in this division,
(27:48):
this really really tough division as we head into the
twenty twenty four season.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Yeah, I think Sam's going to be great. I mean,
he's you know, he had you know, a lot of
success early in the season for care Line a couple
of years ago when he was a starter and they
got off to a great start and then they had
some breaks and then go his way and his play
fell a little bit. But you know, I think he's
in a great situation, you know, with Kevin calling the
(28:13):
plays and getting him settled in and obviously what he was,
you know, as an understudy in San Francisco the last
couple of years. So I like the signing, and I
think Sam's going to be really good for Minnesota. I
mean I really do. I don't I think, you know,
it obviously sucks what happened to JJ McCarthy and that's
kind of a bummer. But I think Sam is going
to have a nice year. I think the problem for
(28:35):
Minnesota is that they play in, you know, a really
really difficult division because I think Green Bay and Detroit
could both easily get to the super Bowl. I think
both their rosters are that good, and so that's obviously
tough when you got two of those teams in your
own division. And obviously Chicago is you know, how are
(28:55):
they going to be? I don't know, but they're fun
and they had a heck of an offseason and that's
tough too. So I think that's the biggest thing is
they have no gimmes in their division and that's going
to be a challenge. And what I think is going
to be a pretty competitive NFC. So, you know, offensively,
I think especially with what Minnesota does in a good
offensive line and you know, maybe a little sin at
(29:17):
depth wide receiver, but I think Hockinson comes back Kelsey
hopefully in you know, early in the season. I think
offensively they'll be fine. Defensively, how they're going to stop
all the weapons in the division, that's going to be
hard in my.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Eyes, speaking of stopping those weapons in the division, the Vikings.
If you if you just woke up earlier this morning,
was announced that the Vikings agreed to a one year,
ten million dollar deal with free agent cornerbacks Stefan Gilmour
and Kevin You've done a lot of Cowboy games, especially
last season, so you saw Gilmour in action, and with
(29:48):
the loss of second year player Makai Blackman and the
trade of Andrew Booth to the said Cowboys, they were
a little light on the back end. So if you
can talk a little bit about how Gilmour played last
year and how you see him fitting in with this
Brian Flores defense.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
Yeah, I think he's I think he's still just a
really solid player, you know, and his technique is so
good and he's so sound. I think the best thing
about him is just reliable. You know, you're going to
put him out there and he's going to play well,
and they needed that. I think, you know, they're back
in with suspect. Obviously, Harrison's still back there doing his
thing and he's still an amazing player. But I think
(30:25):
just to have that veteranstability back there with Harrison Smith
is a big ad for them and he'll help. He
was good last year. He's been good ever here He's
played really Robbie. So I like that move.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Hey, Kevin and s Brett here, I am the resident
packer backer here on the show and on the station. Yeah,
and you mentioned them earlier. I do just want to
get a quick one in. Can I get my hopes
up for the season? Is it realistic? Where should my
hopes be? And would you have made that contract extension
with Jordan Love even though according to Vikings fans he's
only had a good half season.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
Jordan Love is sensational, and unfortunately everybody in the NFC
North is just hoping he's a flash in the pan.
He's not. He's he is really really good because he
talked to people around the league who know, and every
one of them thinks he's good.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
You know.
Speaker 7 (31:14):
So I think that that's why I go by not
necessarily my eyes, and I think that the Vikings fans
have a problem with him for years to come, and
I think Green Bay is really really a threat.
Speaker 8 (31:28):
You know.
Speaker 7 (31:28):
I did not like them getting rid of Aaron Jones
obviously is now a Viking. I mean, I didn't understand
that particular move. I don't know that they're better there
than they were. I mean, obviously they went on that
playoff run, and Aaron Jones was a huge part of it.
He was so hot at the end of the year.
But I think from a talent standpoint in their roster,
(31:49):
I think they're lowered, and I think love is as
good as there is in the league.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
We're talking to Kevin Burkhard. Hey, Kevin, nice to meet you.
My name is Max aka Max Strick Mahomes aka name It.
I'm a huge fan have all your albums, even the
weird experimental electronic one. I'm just curious. You're getting ready
to call your first game with Tom Brady in the booth.
Do you feel any extra And I know, I know
if you're a professional, you've been doing this for a
long time, But do you feel any extra pressure being
(32:16):
in the booth with someone like Tom Brady, someone regarded
as not only the one of the best football players
of all time, but one of the best athletes at
American team sports history. I feel like I would try
way too hard to sound smart in front of Tom Brady. Yeah,
that's that's the four to three and they said, and
I would say something stupid and I would embarrass myself.
Do you feel any extra pressure being in the booth with.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Someone like Tom?
Speaker 7 (32:38):
Yeah, you know, I don't. And and you know, there's
a couple of reasons why. It's because a Tom is
a really great guy and he's just fits in like
like everybody else. And it's been normal. We've been you know,
we spent the whole year, really this whole off season
being together and just hanging out and practicing and doing
things like that. And then I think for me, like,
(32:59):
you know, I get you know, nervous, excited for every
game just in general because I love it so much.
But you know, if you look at the people that
I've been lucky enough to be around, and you know,
like for baseball, I host a show with a Rod
and Big Poppy and Derrek Jeter, who are pretty darn
big star as himself. Right, So the cool thing is
when you're around these guys, they're all just normal, they
(33:21):
really are. They just happen to be really good at
what they do. So I think I'm more excited. I think,
you know, I'm going to go and do what I've
always done and just try to, you know, be a
team player and make sure I put Tom in the
best positions I possibly can. But he's been great.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Man.
Speaker 7 (33:38):
It's been fun just getting to know him and obviously
take his brain and you know, people like you and
I like, he's been great just answering questions and talking
ball and listening to his story. So I think it's
going to be fun. I'm not nervous about it. I'm
excited about it.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
A lot of people, especially when you know, like an
athlete retires like Tom Brady, well it's just a cushy job.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
You just show up and you talk football and you leave.
Obviously we know that's not the case.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Can you can you describe what a typical in the
middle of the NFL season you're prepping for a game,
what your typical week is going into that game, and
all the prep you.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Have to do.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
Well, if doing games was so easy, everyone would do it,
and you see there's a lot of people that do
it and fail. And you know, because it's a lot,
I mean you you you have to become an expert.
You know, we're getting two new teams every week. You
got to become an expert every week on the teams
and everything about them. Right, So that's that's everything in
My prep's a little bit different than Tom or any
other any other analyst. But for me, like I have
(34:36):
a structure and I'm not going to go every single
minute of it, but you know, I'm reading a lot,
I'm taking notes. I'm then watching you know, games and
watching tape and things like that and getting anything I
get my hands on, and then really just studying you know,
every player, the coaching staff. Like, I just got to
be prepared for anything. It's almost like taking a midterm
(34:56):
test when you're in school. So you study your tail
off and you you are prepared through the game, and
then sometimes there's a couple of questions on the test
You're like, oh, I didn't see that coming. But at
least if you're prepared, you can handle it and kind
of move around that thing. So it never ends. There's
never like a time where you're you know, you feel
like you're done. And most of the time, at least
(35:16):
for me, because you know, it's a never ending cycle,
right of stuff, and there's so much information out there now,
I just you know, close my laptop Saturday night and
I'm like, all right, I'm good. I've worked my butt
off all week, and hopefully I'll pass the test on Sunday,
and then if you do that, Sunday is a lot
of fun because you're just kind of you studied it,
You're you're just reacting and really enjoying the game and
(35:38):
talking football. So you know, that's in a nutshell essentially
how I handle the week.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
And thanks to all that preparation you do, people like
me get to steal your takes and then sound smart
on the radio.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
So I appreciate that, Kevin, and we're really excited.
Speaker 7 (35:53):
I'm a radio guy from I'm a radio guy from
from from at Heart. That's how I started, so I
get it right.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
They say that the smart ones create and the even
smarter ones steal from those who create, so we really
appreciate it. To Kevin, I didn't know you are radio guy.
I wish we had more time to talk to you
about your whole like span of your career. But obviously
you're you're doing the NFL thing here in a couple
of weeks, and we're really excited about the NFC North
and the vikings here.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
But you you call the whole NFL, not just the NFC,
not just the AFC.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
So I'm just wondering curious your opinion, what's a team
that's going to overachieve this season, and what's the team
you think is going to underachieve the season.
Speaker 7 (36:34):
I kind of like the Rams. I you know, I
know they were a playoff team last year, and so
it's not like they're a total surprise. They finished last
year seven and one, and and I know, you know
when you look at what they have on paper, Yes,
they lost Aaron Donald, right, which is not obviously an
easy thing to replace. No, but they've got a really
good young defense and I think you know what we
(36:58):
saw last year with Matt Stafford healthy, their offense is scary.
I mean, Cooper Cup and Pooka Naku attack of a
tanem and Cup got healthier as a year one on
last year, and then Kyron Williams at running back and
they got Blake Krn from Michigan, who you know led
the country in so many categories, and they got better
on the offensive line. I think the Rams are sneaky good.
(37:20):
And again, I know they're a postseason team last year,
but I feel like that's a team if they're gonna,
you know, come out of one of those teams that
you're like, whoa they're you know, all of a sudden,
there they're eight and one. I could see them being
that team. I think they're good totally as a team.
Who would be disappointing. I think there's a there's a
lot of candidates here, and and I think there's a
(37:40):
lot of pressure on the Cowboys, as there always is.
You know, clearly their roster is loaded with talent, but
they've just got a lot going on, you know, and
and and they usually do. But you know, not signing
Dak Prescott, which to me is nuts. I don't know
what they're what they're looking for with him. I mean,
you know, I understand that they haven't won the playoff games,
(38:01):
but he's been as good as anybody in the regular season.
You know, Ceedee Lamb is still holding out. They lose
Dan Quinn to Washington, and they bringing Mike Zimmer. Obviously,
I don't tell you guys about Mike Zimmer, right, I'm
not worried about the defense, but I just think there
are a lot of intangibles there and a lot of
pressure for them because you've got your quarterback, your franchise quarterbacks, supposedly,
(38:25):
you're franchise receiver who's a top two receiver in the
league top three. I guess if you want to say
Hill and Jefferson and Lamb in whatever order, and then
you get your coach and Mike McCarthy. And again, I
know they haven't been to the Super Bowl. He's won
twelve games every year. I mean, you cannot have more
regular season success than he's had in Dallas. And he
doesn't have a contract after the year either. It's just
a lot of distraction and their schedule at the beginning
(38:47):
of the year is hard. So I would really watch
how they start the year and see how they handle it.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Kevin Burkhart, the lead voice for the NFL on Fox,
also called Super Bowl fifty seven where the Chiefs said
defeated the Eagles just a couple of years ago, also
does a great job on MLB's coverage. You've seen him
on the All Star coverage. You've seen him up there
with Big Poppy at a rod. Kevin, we can't thank
you enough for a couple of minutes of your day
today to Chatson Ball, and we'll look forward to you
come into town hopefully this season to see a hopefully
(39:17):
successful Vikings squad.
Speaker 7 (39:20):
Yeah, look forward to it. Guys. Enjoy the season and
we'll see you soon, all right.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
Thanks a lot, Kevin. That was Kevin Burkhart, the lead
voice for the NFL on Fox. What a great conversation, guys.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Awesome. I wish we could have him for like a
half hour. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Well, if he does come into town and the Vikings
do their part, he is the number one team with Brady,
So hopefully the Vikings have a really really good season
where later in the season or maybe midway through the season,
we are in the mix there as one of the
best teams in the NFC that we get him and
oh Tom Brady to come to.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Town to do a game of ours. So I can't
wait for that, and it should be a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Brett, there might be snowflakes in hell before Tom Brady
is on worst case scenario.
Speaker 9 (40:01):
But but it's but it's possible. It's possible. Anything, anything's possible.
That's what Kevin Barnett said. That's that was an awesome conversation.
Though man thotn't to Kevin Burkhar's shout out to Rappie
Rosenhaus for.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Making that happen.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
An elite NFL mind that, I believe he'll be on
the call today as the Saints and the forty nine
ers engage in some pre season at battle, and we're
obsessed with football here, so we're gonna talk more football
around the corner, and then Vikings outside linebacker Bo Richter
at the top of the hour. This is worst case
scenario on a Sunday on the Fanily, welcome back to
(40:56):
worst case scenario. Max Fuller, Brett Blake Moorebby Rosenhouse here
fresh off in interview with Fox NFL lead play by
play voice Kevin Burkhart, talking about all things NFC North.
He thinks the Vikings are going to have a good season.
Obviously we do as well, but it's a really tough division.
He thinks that we have not one, but two Super
(41:20):
Bowl contenders in the NFC North, in the Green Bay
Packers and the Detroit Lions. And obviously there's a lot
of hype around the Chicago Bears right now. And Robbie
Rosenhaus just showed me a pair of plays that have
me scared down to shaking him our boots.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Caleb Williams. I know it's.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Preseason, but he looks to be the real deal. It
looks like he's the goods man. He is making just insane.
I didn't understand it from his usc play, but those
and this is obviously this is blasphemous. This is a
little bit of an overexaggeration. But those two plays where
that you just showed me him throwing off the back foot,
him get escaping out of a collapsing pocket. Those were
(41:57):
Patrick Mahomes esque, throwing across the body, just dropping dimes. Man,
I'm terrified after seeing Caleb Williams in the preseason.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Thus far kybe texting Tennabee alerting him to the time.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
I don't know what's between his ears, because the quarterback position,
to me, is not just about.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Physical gifts and physical talent.
Speaker 4 (42:19):
But when you look at his athleticism and the way
he throws the ball on the move, I mean, just
the way he drops it in there on a dime.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
I understand he only threw thirteen times yesterday and completed
less than fifty percent of his passes, but he scored
himself on a backyard style kind of run to the
left pylon there, and each of his two preseason starts
he is not under delivered. So I think the hype
is there, and I think the division if you go
(42:51):
back to when Stafford, Rogers and Cutler were kind of
running the division and the Vikings were fishing around trying
to find their version of a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
Well, I missed Jake Cutler hopefully too. He was chaos,
man is chaos.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
He could throw a ninety yard touchdown, he could throw
a ninety yard interception any any given player.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
I'll never forget the two thousand and nine, the good
far years I like to call it. They went into
Soldier Field on a Monday night. I remember Farv threw
a touchdown to Sydney Rice to tie the game right
at the end with twenty seconds. It went to overtime,
and then Cutler through like a forty or fifty yard bomb,
walk off bomb.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
In just a beautiful rainbow over our cornerback's head.
Speaker 4 (43:35):
But it goes back to when that division was loaded
with big quarterbacks, and now it seems max like the
division is going to be loaded with big quarterbacks again.
Brett's guy Jordan Love who Kevin Burkhardt had nothing but
nice things to say. He I believe called him sensational,
which is byeah rightly so quite the adjective. Now I'm
(43:55):
a little bit in the middle like I do think
that in this day and age, they did need to
give him that contract because if you if you if
you don't have a quarterback, then then you're completely.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Specifically right.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
You have to like the Cowboys Hemdon had forever about
Dak Prescott, and look at where they are. They're still
spinning their wheels and Kevin thinks that they're going to
be an under underachieving compared to us.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
What Steven is.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Hand rub hearing that right now, it's.
Speaker 4 (44:22):
Great, but looking around the division, this is where the
team has to step it up. It's in the quarterback play.
And clearly Kevin Burkhard thinks Darnold's gonna have a good year.
And with McCarthy in comparison to Williams, hopefully we have
our version of that. It's just we're not going to
get to see him revealed unfortunately because of the meniscus injury,
until next season. But what we did see in preseason
(44:44):
game number one here was pretty good.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
Real click on Williams. Just I don't not it's anything
against Williams himself. As long as Eberflus is the coach
in Chicago, I have no faith in that. He's not
an offensive coach. And he's not a quarterback whisper, He's
not a schemer. He's a defensive guy who who has
wants nothing to do with the offense. I'm I'm out
on the Bears as long as he's there.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Yeah, I mean, just in general, throughout my entire lifetime,
which is three decades now. Oh, I've never seen the
j Culor is the best Bears quarterback that I've ever
seen them have, which is saying a lot. I've never
seen the Bears. I mean, they've barely even had serviceable quarterbacks.
So you always have to take that with a grain
(45:28):
and salt anything that you're seeing. But Caleb Williams, he
has all the tools to succeed there outside of coaching,
he has all the tools to succeed there.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
With the Roma Dunes and.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Keenan Allen and DJ More, I mean that's a pretty
stacked receiving core right there. So he's got all the
tools to succeed there in Chicago. So very curious when
they come into town when the Vikings face off against
the Chicago Bears. If I see Vikings face off against
the Cleveland Browns yesterday and some preseason action, not a
whole lot of star I don't know if any did
(45:59):
any start touched the field at all, don't I don't.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
A few guys on either side of the ball, but
no huge names got any significant playing time.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
No but one guy that really, I mean, he was
just going around, just flying around everywhere. Louis was seen
former first round pick Lewis Seene, who I mean, fairly enough,
has been roundly criticized for throughout his tenure with the
Minnesota Vikings. But Lewis seen what he had something like
eleven twelve tackles yesterday. He was just absolutely incredible, flying
(46:31):
around the field everywhere and making a name for himself
and possibly etching out a little spot on this roster
for himself.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Well, he had eleven total tackles, he had the pick,
he had the pass breakup, he had the sack, the
two quarterback hits including that one monster hit stick tackle
for loss, He led the Viking defense and every statistics.
So I'm not sure you can call him a quote
unquote starter, maybe on special teams, but he's certainly proving
that he can play in this league. Whether or not
(46:59):
he's going to be kind of showcased and maybe sent
off like Andrew Booth was for another player. I don't
know what plans they have in store for him, but
right now we haven't seen the best of Lewis scene
up until yesterday, which again was against a bunch of backups.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
So it's a wait and see with scene for sure.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
It well, I'm anxiously awaiting to be something to watch
throughout the preseason in a preseason that is wrapping up
here pretty quickly. I believe next Saturday is a final
preseason again the Philadelphia Eagles, so that'll be It's always
interesting when it's Vikings versus A Phillia And we mentioned
the game yesterday. You know who else had a great
game yesterday, bo Richter notching yet another sack in the preseason.
(47:42):
He's been lighting it up and he's on a worst
case scenario next talking all things of Vikings on a Sunday.
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Welcome back into the worst case scenario here on k
f A N Robbie rosenales here with Brett Blakemore and
Max Fuller, and it is my pleasure to welcome in
undrafted free agent and current Minnesota Viking linebacker Bo Richter.
Two sacks, seven tackles, three tackles for loss, three quarterback
hits this preseason. Just a laundry list of things that
(48:26):
Bo has accomplished. Here, Bo, welcome to the show.
Speaker 7 (48:29):
How are you good. I'm glad to be on here.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Thanks, thanks for joining us today.
Speaker 4 (48:34):
So, coming off of your senior season at air Force
winning the the Service Academy version of the Heisman there,
just kind of exploding on the scene in your senior
season and then coming into count camp and hitting the
ground running and just really showing out in these two
(48:54):
preseason games. How does it feel to be an NFL
player and and kind of just and kind of ball out.
Speaker 7 (49:04):
I mean, it's an absolute blessing.
Speaker 8 (49:05):
You know.
Speaker 10 (49:06):
I always kind of try to take kind of sit
back and kind of appreciate where I am. So, you know,
there's a lot of people that have helped me get
to this position. So it's it's the absolute blessing. And
being here with all these all these great players and
being able to keep making plays is it's just amazing.
So I'm definitely just, you know, blessed to be here.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Hey, Bo, Max Fuller here and just talking about the
Air Force, I was wondering, how does the how does
the training that you had to do for the Air
Force Compared to training camp with the with the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 10 (49:40):
It's a different It's definitely different. I'd say it's it's
a lot more geared to to help once you get
to I think most professional athletics like they just want
to keep guys healthy, you know, and not not to
say it's easy, but you know, the strength staff and
the and the and the strength and conditioning and the
dietary programs here and all that stuff is all geared
(50:00):
to keep you healthy. So you know, you're not you're
you're pushing yourself, but within your limits. And then once
you get on the field, you kind of let it,
let it loose and give it everything you've got. But
just in terms of the military training, when you get
there as a freshman, you go through six weeks of
basic training and it's you know, the goal is not
to keep guys healthy. The goal is to you know,
(50:21):
kick some ass up a little bit. Yeah, until you
make it.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
Hey, Bo Brett, here, let's go to the present.
Speaker 3 (50:28):
You've had a pretty good preseason, including this sack against
the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Takes the hand off, is able to get away from
the pressure more a second on his first play. Definitely
pushed in a suspicious from the corner.
Speaker 11 (50:41):
Man oh Er oh Richer, undrafted from Air Force, came
flying in there.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
To get a statute.
Speaker 12 (50:48):
Richter having a very good college career, five years at
Air Force Academy, and it's seeing that COVID effect. Guys
playing five six years in college football, but eleven and
a half sets and last year twenty twenty three, nineteen
and a half tackles for lost is ten sacks, forty
five tackles, a very very productive football player. So him
(51:08):
getting the opportunity to get out here and light things
up a little bit is fantastic for him.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Yeah, a whole segment on you bo during the Vikings
broadcast after that sack. How do you feel your preseason has.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Gone so far? It's been good.
Speaker 10 (51:22):
I mean, obviously the stats have looked good, but you know,
the film's never perfect, and I've got things to work on,
so you know, I've been happy with how things have gone.
But there's definitely a lot of room for improvement, a
lot a lot of room for growth. So that's kind
of what I got my eyes on right now. How
can I be better? How can I improve? But yeah,
I mean I'm happy with how it's gone, let's and
(51:43):
I'm trying to push forward and then see what we
can do even better. In the last game there in Philly.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
Talking to Vikings a linebacker Bo Richter and bouncing off
with that question, Bo. Fans have been debating the value
of the preseason for quite some time now, and especially
in today's day and age, when most teams opt not
to play a lot of their starters. I think a
lot of people think that the preseason is is heading
towards extinction. More so, and as a guy who I mean,
(52:08):
who has been making a name for himself throughout the preseason,
as a player who's trying to make this roster, how
do you as a player feel about the preseason at large?
Speaker 10 (52:19):
Well, I mean, obviously I'm a rookie, so I don't
really know how it's flipped in the past personally, but uh,
you know, it's it's kind of transformed into into let
the let the young guys play and see who can
see who can go out there and make plays. So
I think just in terms of obviously it may be
different in terms of fan value because everybody wants to
(52:39):
see the big names out there playing, but just in
terms of every team like they want to be able
to see who's a playmaker and who who can go
out and make plays, and be able to evaluate guys
in terms of that and see who can who can
make their roster, and and and for other teams too,
for you know rookies that you know, not not everybody's
a numbers game, so not everybody can make the team.
So the goal here is to make this team and
(53:03):
if not this team and other team. So just in
terms of that, it's just it's an evaluation period, so
you know, you can end up getting the best guys
in the field in the long run.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
I want to take a little bit of a deeper
look into what makes you such a great player. What's
your mindset and technique preference when being asked to set
an edge in the run game. I know a lot
of people focus on the pass rush where it's bull
rush against hand with hand fighting and other and other
various moves, but being able to play the run is
very important too. So your mind set and technique preference
(53:32):
when you're setting that edge for the run game, I mean,
I just got.
Speaker 10 (53:37):
To, you know, keep keep sound footwork, try to keep
ball steps off the tape, try to get get get
my inside hand on their inside number and fight that
inside shoulder in the run game and stay square. But
I mean, definitely, the biggest thing is setting a hard
edge and not giving up ground, so so you can
cut that ball back and send it back to your
(53:57):
fitters inside or if it bounces out, you make the
play yourself. That's that's you know, it's it's not a
super complex aspect of the game, but it's not easy.
Speaker 7 (54:05):
So you just got to you got to set a
hard edge.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
Is the Is the speed of the game different from
the college to the pros?
Speaker 8 (54:12):
Like?
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Is that one thing you've noticed?
Speaker 4 (54:14):
Like wow, Like you know, some of these guys are
a lot quicker out here than what I'm used to
playing at air Force.
Speaker 10 (54:21):
I you know, I don't want to say I haven't
noticed a difference, but it's you know, it's all it's
all football there. You know, they're good athletes everywhere in
college and obviously it just gets even better, uh up here.
Speaker 7 (54:33):
But you know, I I it hasn't been.
Speaker 10 (54:35):
It hasn't been like an unbearable change, you know for
me coming from high school to college. I you know,
I wasn't I would say that I wasn't ready to
play physically as a as a freshman in college and
and I don't think that's necessarily the case.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Now.
Speaker 10 (54:49):
I feel like physically, I you know, I stack up,
So there's it's not as big as of a jump
that I made from high school to college as it
is for me from college to the to the NFL.
So it's definitely a jump, but it's not you know,
I feel like I'm prepared.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Uh bo.
Speaker 1 (55:02):
I know, I know you probably don't want to count
your chickens before they hatch, but after seeing you play
in the preseason, all I hear is.
Speaker 2 (55:09):
Because I think you're.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
Gonna make this squad brother, So I think Vikings fans
want to get to know Bow a little bit better.
So I got some I got some get to know
Bow questions so we can we can all know you
better as a person because we see how electric you
are as a player. Who do you? I know it's
early on in your NFL career, but who is your
best friend on the team so far?
Speaker 10 (55:28):
Best friend on the team I Gabe Murphy, he just
got I know he's getting a proceder done soon, but
he was. He was one of my really good friends
before you left. I like a Van Ginko a lot.
You know, there's a ton of good, good guys in
the team though, own porter, I have a.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
I have a get to know bow question as well.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
If if your plan was to stay in Air Force
and just stay there, what would have been your position
that you would have most ideally liked to have in
the Air Force, so you'd be flying, would you be
in a chair?
Speaker 2 (55:58):
What would what would your position be?
Speaker 10 (56:00):
So my I got, I got my my duty station
and my my job assignment before I left, before I
ended up delaying the commission, and I was gonna I
was set to be a financial manager at Eggland Air
Force Base down there in the in the Panhandle of Florida,
right right in your desk in Florida. So I was
basically just going to be like a like a large
scale budget budget guy for the base.
Speaker 4 (56:22):
So one more in my in our get to know
bo seen here. Well, you grew up in Illinois a
multi sports star. Max is a huge hoopad here. So
can you give us a little bit about your basketball background,
how that's helped maybe with your kind of athleticism and training,
and if you look back to any of the other
sports and how it helped you develop into the athlete
(56:42):
and player you are today.
Speaker 10 (56:45):
Yeah, I mean I I definitely I played basketball, you know,
even now, I think I played more basketball in my
life than I've played football, just playing a sport. Yeah,
and I was more of a kind of a flasher
and get to the hoop type of guy.
Speaker 7 (56:58):
So you know, I did up.
Speaker 10 (57:00):
I feel like the biggest thing that I developed is
that like making missability. You know, if you if you
can do it with a basketball in your hands, you
can do it with nothing in your hands.
Speaker 7 (57:08):
As as an headdresser.
Speaker 10 (57:09):
So I feel like I always had that you know,
that twitch and that uh, that making missability coming from basketball.
And then switching switching from from basketball that I started
playing football lacrosse my junior high school. And I felt like,
obviously football helped my football ability, but lacrosse was just
a great way to you know, stay in shape, get
you know, get the legs moving in the off season,
(57:29):
stay fast, and you know, just you know, playing a
bunch of sports growing up, I think is really good,
just developing your body in a bunch of different ways.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
I didn't know you were. I didn't know you were
a hooper ball. Have you gotten a chance to hoop
with any of the guys on the team. Yet, what
do you think your your ball skills uh rank amongst
the vikings? Do you think you could hoop? You think
you could hoop everybody on the on.
Speaker 10 (57:50):
The squad I've seen. I know a lot of the
guys are good players. So I don't want to say
that you know that I'm the I'm the best out there,
and I honestly I have not played a lot of
basketball in the past sever years, just trying to trying
to focus on football healthy. But you know, I do
love basketball, but I don't want to say I don't
want to stay I'm the best one.
Speaker 7 (58:07):
Out here or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
Yeah, we're gonna watch you blowing a need don't get
on Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
Or something like that. So that's probably that's probably a
good decision.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
But last one for you in the Get to Noble
set a portion of this interview, what's your game day ritual? Like,
I know, like athletes are really you know, superstitious people
and like to have their their game day rituals, Like
what are you doing before a game to prep for
a game, What's what are you playing in your in
your headphones before you go out there on the field.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
What's what's bo Richter's game day ritual?
Speaker 10 (58:34):
Like in college, I had a really set like playlist
and and you know, I knew the routine, so I
knew exactly what songs I was gonna do.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
What's on the playlist, How long the I listened to a.
Speaker 10 (58:48):
Lot of eminem and d MX before the before the game.
Speaker 7 (58:51):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 10 (58:53):
I've kind of switched it up now, I you know,
I don't really know the routine yet with you know,
just the you know, being being with the same program
for so long, you kind of know how the how
the game days are going to go. But now it's like,
I'm not one hundred percent sure how things are going
to go. So I've I've kind of switched it up
and tried to stay you know, kind of calm and
not not like ramt my body into that into that
(59:14):
you know, this go time mode until until the last second,
so I can kind of have everything in the tank.
So I've I've kind of switched it up and tried
to stay a little bit more chill pregame for kickoff.
Speaker 4 (59:24):
Uh, we're talking with a bou rich the one more
quick one before I let you go. And it has
to do with the service academies. You're playing with Andre Carter,
who was in the Army, and and you got to
hook up with your your former teammate Trey Taylor there
off off of the first preseason game, who plays for
the Raiders, also a former Falcon. So, uh, just what
(59:45):
does it mean to you to see so many guys
from these service academies actually getting it, getting a legitimate
shot here to make a career in the NFL.
Speaker 10 (59:54):
I mean, just in terms of the service athlete, it's
you know, it's been such a rocky road just with
with all the Department of Defense and congressional legislation about
you know, caned service athletes go straight to the pros?
Speaker 7 (01:00:06):
Do they have to wait all that stuff?
Speaker 10 (01:00:08):
And and really I was talking to Andre Carter about it,
and he kind of paved the way for me and
Trey to come out. Otherwise the legislation may have changed,
and and and now for the people coming out, it
has changed, and they're going to have to wait two
years and serve and then come and try to take
their shots of the pros. So it's definitely a blessing
to have guys like him come out before us and
kind of pave the way. And me and me and
(01:00:30):
Trey have talked about we you know, we want to
pave the way for for guys coming out because you know,
service athletes typically don't get as much love just because
you know, offensive guys are playing in triple option system,
so it's you know, it's hard to project them to
the NFL, and and defensive guys, it's just a smaller,
smaller school, so smaller, smaller, you know, group of five competitions,
so you know, guys don't get as much look. So
(01:00:52):
you know, we've been blessed with this opportunity and we
want to pave the way for for guys to come
after that and after us and show the you know,
show the world that a service athletes are are worth
it and can play at the highest level.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
And we've been blessed with the presence of Bo Richter
Bo formerly of Air Force, now of your Minnesota Vikings,
joining us off of two Monster preseason games, and we
look forward to continuing to follow his journey here with
the team and Bow. We can't thank you enough for
joining us for a couple of minutes today off of
a late night flight back from a victory in Cleveland.
Speaker 7 (01:01:27):
Absolutely, thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
That was bo Richter, undrafted linebacker from air Force and
kind of dove into some of his football act him
in there.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
And also what was more interesting for me was getting
to know the player Max. Yeah, but he seems like
an interesting guy at DMX and then before the game
he's got good taste in music and definitely he said
he's not trying to ramp himself up before these vikings games.
Definitely got to take DMX off the playlist if.
Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
You're not trying to get.
Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Yeah. Yeah, it's impossible to sit still listening to some
DMX man.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
I look forward to to seeing his continuing journey and
if he keeps lighting it up like he's been lining up,
there's definitely I see a roster spot on this team
for a guy like bou Richter.
Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
And that's one position group that clearly has had a
bunch of turnover from last year to this year. Danil
Hunter leaves, Jonathan Gernard comes in, a bunch of the
old guard is still here from guys like Patrick Jones,
but then they bring in Jerry Tillery and Levi Drake Rodriguez,
in the middle who are new faces potentially next to
Harrison Phillips who's been here for a couple of years.
(01:02:28):
So the d line and the linebacker group certainly is
changing with just a couple of players. Johad Ward comes
in as a free agent, and hopefully Beau Richter will
have a place on the fifty three come opening day.
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
And we've been all football all the way so far.
All of our heads are looking like Stewie's from Family
Guy right now. We're just full of especially and yeah,
we're gonna talk a little timber Wolves, probably diving into
more football and more in these sports.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
A more guts board.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
Slashed to mix a bag segment around the corner, and
of course, as always, as all thirteen of you who
listen every week, no, we will close out the show
with the fan favorite segment, Brett Blakemore.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
What do the polls say? What what are we talking about?
We got worst dates movies you have been seen? And
then guilty pleasure to y pleasure pleasure.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
Yes, the clubhouse leader with forty six percent of the
vote right now, thirty two minutes left in the poll.
By the way, to get your voting, Okay, worst date stories,
We get to hear about Robbie's first.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Date that went horribly wrong. I can't wait. I'm excited
to hear that. Bring the bell. Have you want to
change the outcome of the show, It's in your hands.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
Go to Twitter, slash x at KF and one zero
zero three and cast your vote. Otherwise, around the corner,
we're talking timber Wolves, football, UFC and more. Welcome back
(01:04:19):
to Worst Case Scenario. A couple more segments to go,
but don't worry. I usually this is where I usually say,
same time, same place, same time, different place. We will
be alive and in effect in your face at the
Minnesota State Fair eleven am to one pm next Sunday
and the Sunday after that as well, two pm. Actually
(01:04:40):
an extended a jumbo edition of Worst Case Scenario, some
bonus worst Case.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
I'll be out there, rob you'll be out there, Brett
will be out there.
Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
Hopefully our very special guest Haley Darling will be out there.
Maybe we can enlist some others as well, So come
join us, have fun with us. The State Fair is back.
Football is back. We're all excited about it. Clearly, we
spent the entire like an hour and a half just
talking nothing but football. And one of the best things
about football being back, And it sounds weird to say this,
(01:05:12):
because there's there's a million great things about football being back,
but one of the best things about football being back
actually doesn't have anything to do with football. Football being
back means that the MLB playoffs are right around the
corner as well. Football being back means it's not only
the start of the wild season over in the NHL,
but also that the NBA and NBA basketball is also
(01:05:36):
right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
And your Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
Timberwolves are just a couple months away from stepping footback
on the court.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Which seems it just seems like such a short break
because we're not used to it here right Like, it
seems like such a short break. But the Timberwolves will
be back in action in October. Matter of fact, on
Opening Night.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
The Timberwolves released their schedule, their full eighty two games
schedule earlier this week, and it's I mean, super exciting
stuff because I think they only had ten national TV
games last year. They have twenty five national TV games
across ESPN.
Speaker 4 (01:06:13):
They love us, especially a lot around the holidays, Like
there's like ten of them between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:06:21):
So you go to see a lot of the Timberwolves. Yeah,
that's a fourth. Over a fourth of their schedule is
on national TV.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
And we're not used to it. We're used to be
in flyover country. We're used to being underrated. But Anthony Edwards,
I mean, is an undeniable star and an undeniably one
of the faces of the league, not just because of
that playoff run, that magical playoff run from last season,
but also because of his play in the Summer Olympic Game.
So obviously Anthony Edwards. The Anthony Edwards effect has taken place.
(01:06:50):
And there's twenty five Timberwolves games on national TV, and
like I just alluded to, the very first one will
be on Opening Night when they face off against Lebron
James and Bronni James for that matter, in LA against
the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Super exciting stuff, man.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
And what's cool is that the second home game of
the year will be one of those aforementioned nationally televised
games against the Dallas Mavericks, which wound up being an
epics series last year that didn't go our way. I
looked at some portions of the schedule, there where it
just kind of quirky things are kind of things that
stuck out. They play Golden State three times in a
(01:07:28):
four game span at the beginning of December, which will
almost seem like a playoff game. We don't know where
the Warriors are going to be this year, but if
Curry plays anything like he did in the Olympics, They're
going to be a force to be rich.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Yeah, he'll drag them to a couple of wins. I
think they're at best, they're a playing team. I think
a ton of home games in the month of February.
Speaker 4 (01:07:45):
I noticed like over two thirds of their schedule is
going to be home and not a lot of long
road trips. So February will certainly be the month where
they'll kind of have some home cooking. But again, you're right,
I mean, this is the Anthony Edwards show. The country
wants to see him, and with all those national games,
whether it be ESPN or TNT, which or thank goodness
(01:08:05):
that we get another year of inside and hopefully more
than that. But again, they are must watch TV right
now off of last year, which was sensational, just unfortunately
didn't wind up the way we wanted it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
Everybody wants to see Anthony Edwards outside of Noahliles, who yeah,
had that disparaging remark about being invited to an Anthony
Edwards party, And man, I just I really wish that
I could like Noahlliles, But that guy is unlikable.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
That guy is just straight up unlikable.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
And now he's in and then he might get embarrassed
by racing Tyreek Hill, which is apparently in the works,
But that's a story for later on in the segment.
Like you said, Robbie, we got it. There's a lot
of notable matchups for the Timbers on these national TV games.
You got games against some of multiple games against the Grizzlies,
the Nuggets, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Boston Celtics, so
(01:08:54):
kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
All the wolves little mini rivalries.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
Obviously, rivalry is a loaded word, and it's not like
a storied rivalry like Celtics and Lakers.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Or Nicks in Miami Heat or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
But if you think about the last couple of years,
those have been the Timberwolves primary kind of like opponents
that they're butting heads with. The Memphis Grizzlies bounced us
from the playoffs, and that was probably the main catalyst
for the Timberwolves going out and getting Rudy Gobert because
they killed us on the boards. The Denver Nuggets obviously,
that epic, epic epic, a seven games series where the
(01:09:28):
Wolves beat them, came back from twenty something down to
beat them and head to the Western Conference Finals. Okay,
see thunder. We were battling with them all season for
the number one seed, and even the Boston Celtics, who
I think a lot of people here in the Twin
Cities thought that the Wolves and the Celtics were on
a collision course to meet each other in the NBA Finals,
especially after two just neck and neck regular season games,
(01:09:49):
one here and one in Boston. Obviously, but obviously, I
mean clearly that did not happen. But I think there's
still a little the Timberwolves might want to prove themselves
and show, hey, y'all lucky that we didn't We didn't
get there last year in that final. So we got
a couple of national TV games against the Boston Celtics
as well. Just super I'm looking forward to it, man,
I cannot wait.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
It's right around the corner, and the Western Conference to
me is the hip and with it conference.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
I mean, look at the East and kind of some
of the teams that have fallen by the wayside, and
you look at the West and just the the arms
race that is going on out there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
And at the top of the conference.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
We saw last year the teams you mentioned, the Thunder,
the Mavericks, the Nuggets, the Wolves.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
Those are going to be the same teams up there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
But then you're gonna have to think that some of
these younger teams are going to take some sort of step.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
What step, we don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:10:40):
Houston end of the year, on that unbelievable run where
they won all those games, perhaps they take a step
and vault back in the Spurs with Wenby finally getting
him Chris Paul. Perhaps they vault into the play in
they're situea I wesh, Yes, but they're not going to
be as good as either of the LA teams that
I was gonna mention, what like with lebron on an
Anthony did. Now, Victor's down the line we got we're
(01:11:02):
putting him on ice for now until I get him
a long term point guard.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
But no, it's just you're seeing him.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
I've seen enough. We're putting him on ice. Yeah, So
I think Golden State's a team that really could rebound
this year. And we haven't even mentioned the Phoenix Suns
with KD and Booker and Friend clearly, so you look
around the Western Conference and it is really going to
be an arms race.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
So despite the.
Speaker 4 (01:11:27):
Timberwolves maybe improving next year in statistical areas, and we
know how good defensively they were, and we saw it
in the first few games against Denver where they just
locked it down like it was nineteen eighty six and.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
I saw Bill Lameber out there with Joe Dumars.
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
But just looking at statistically, they may improve, but their
record may not be as good because of the depth
of the Western Conference. Because some of these teams are
getting just a little bit better. There's not going to
be pushovers like Houston, maybe not like San Antonio next year.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
I only mentioned them because it's true.
Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
Like so the Western Conference has gotten better, I think
the bottom has raised up just a little bit and
the top is still there. The Wolves are one of
the two or three best teams, maybe not only in
the West but in the entire NBA.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
They are. But next year if they.
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
Do if they don't finish, let's say first or second.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
In the conference.
Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
It won't be because they're not in the league team.
It'll just be because the other teams around them really
have improved as well.
Speaker 7 (01:12:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
No, I actually am going the opposite way. I think
I agree with you that some of these top the
thunder are still going to be near the top. The
Nuggets are going to be significantly worse. You heard it
here first. They are going to be significantly worse.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
They don't have it. They had depth problems in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
We saw that, and they're going to have even more
depth problems because they lost KCP and they got Russell Westbrook,
which I love Rust as much as the next guy, man,
but it's it's it's he's passed his time to tell
I'm not sure how that's going to gel with Murray
and Jokic there.
Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
But I mean, I agree like the Suns will be better.
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
They rounded into form at the end of the season
last year, but the Lakers haven't gotten much better at all.
The Clippers have gotten significantly worse. The Dallas Mavericks will
be up there as well, obviously adding Klay Thompson. The
Kings have gotten better as well. But I mean the
Warriors are going to be fighting for a playoff spot.
The Utah Jazz are a joke. Who know?
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
The Rockets are super mercurial.
Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
They had they went on like an eleven game win
streak last year and still ye at.
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
The end of the season, right, and still didn't finish
five five right exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
And I know they were trying to swing for a
home run here in the offseason and make a bunch
of trades.
Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
None of that happened. Well, the Memphis Grizzlies will be
back in the.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Mix with Jah, So I do think, yeah, the West
is pretty deep, but the Timberwolves are. I think they're
head and shoulders better than most teams. Though, we really
got to worry about the Thunder and we got to
worry about the Mavericks. I'm not even it may sound blasphemous,
I'm not even putting the Nuggets in that conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
Right, which is which is interesting because they have the
best player in the in the league. So I mean, yeah,
I mean, from my money, Yokic is the best player.
So it's it's it's fascinating to me that you put
them in that category. And don't get me wrong, like
you're not totally out of left field when it comes
to your reasoning with the depth. We saw it when,
(01:14:11):
But I think that may be just the fact that
the Timberwolf second unit, led by a guy like NAS
was so much better and they're just miles ahead of
any other.
Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
But you saw it against the Lakers too, They're not
the Nuggets are a better team than Lakers, and they
barely I mean outside the Lakers blew three double digit
leads here, you know, three or four double digit leads.
I just I think you saw the depth problems throughout
their season, and I think it's going to be even
more exasperated losing a three and D guy like KCP
who's super important to their success of the year.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Before that it was Bruce Brown. Now it's KCP.
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
I think they're going to realize pretty quickly here that
it wasn't just the Yo Kitchen Murray Show. Obviously they're
the stars of the show, but it wasn't just the
Yo Kitchen Murray Show. They they made some subtractions, but
I'm curious to see how they're Obviously Yo Kitch is
still O Kitch, but I just don't think that they're
going to be I just don't think they're going to
be that good.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
I'm a bigger fan of Gordon and Porter than perhaps
you are, So I think those two guys really can.
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
Can a bench.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
Like we're not talking about a bench.
Speaker 11 (01:15:14):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
And when you're when you're employing guys like you know,
straw there and Westbrook and DeAndre Jordan, Yeah, and Justin Holland,
I mean they and Brawn, Like they don't have a
great bench, I get it, but they still could add
and if they do, I mean they're starting five, can
go toe to toe with with any team in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
But you're one hundred percent right on the depth. I
just think that that's yeah, yeah, click certified card carrying
number hater community for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Yes, but yeah, which is which is why Game seven
was extra special. Absolutely, I mean it was incredible and
and hopefully we'll take care of them in in less
in less times than then seven games next season, hopefully
if it comes to pass.
Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
But enough about the subtractions.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
In the addition of the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Vikings
made an addition just this morning as they came to
an agreement with veteran cornerback Stefan Gilmour on a one
year deal worth up to ten million dollars, but with
seven million guaranteed. We asked Burkhart about it earlier, but Robbie,
I'm curious your thoughts. Obviously the Vikings need some help
(01:16:20):
in that cornerback department. How do you feel about the
signing of Stefan Gilmore Finally after I believe it's like
a week ago that he visited the Vikings and a
lot of people kind of thought, well, he left the building,
or maybe there's not going to be a deal, but
it seems that they came to an agreement on the
money issue and now Stefan Gilmore is a part of
your Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
I love how this.
Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
Front office is being very proactive in certain areas. When
a quarterback goes down and they bring in Matt Corral
to play the second half of these preseason games that
nobody cares who wins or loses. They're just out there
as a camp are mean looking on the free agent
side of things, when these players that are going to
matter in positions that are of dire need, especially with
(01:17:03):
Griffin out and with Blackman out for the season, and
trading Andrew Booth, Stefan Gilmour was exactly what this defense needed.
They brought in a couple of other free agents, Moreau
and McCain, who have played to varying degrees of success.
You know, McCain had a couple of good plays Week
one and then yesterday, but he was an All Pro
(01:17:23):
back in twenty nineteen. It was the Defensive Player of
the Year just five years ago. Now he's thirty three.
I know he's been on his sixth NFL team now
in five seasons. But he did start seventeen games for
the Cowboys last season. And I'm taking it right from
Kevin Burkhardt's mouth. He did five or six game Oh geez,
I'll go on the button bar.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
He took from five or six cops did say we're
going to steal his takes.
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Five or six Cowboy games last year.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
So he clearly like what he saw, and he spent
basically the entire offseason waiting for an opportunity to pounce
where not only is he going to get paid what
he wants, but he's going to get the opportunity to play.
And now he's going to start day one. He's a
guy who's been in multiple systems. He's played for Brian
Flores in New England, and I think he's gonna have
(01:18:13):
a big impact on this defense.
Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
Now, Robbie, can I test your Vikings memory here? Okay,
do you recall the greatest comeback in NFL history?
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
Yes, it was against the Colts.
Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
I was there caught on camera with a smirk on
my face, thinking, yes, this is going to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Do you remember who was playing on the Colts? That
was Stefan Gilmore. Do you remember what Stefan Gilmore did
that game?
Speaker 10 (01:18:35):
I do not.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
Did he return a pick six for a touchdown?
Speaker 7 (01:18:38):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Ronald?
Speaker 11 (01:18:39):
Those left to Jefferson who's blasted by Stepan Gilmour, who
should be thrown out of the game. Okay, Stefan Gilmore
should be thrown out of the game for that hit.
And he's lucky that somebody doesn't come off the sideline
and whoop his bide.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
That's an all time was just in his bag that
whole game. But that's an all time It is an
all time call.
Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
But when players that you typically didn't root for or
didn't care for come to your team and have kind
of an edge to them, Max Patrick Beverley, I can
see myself rooting fun.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
I just Thank god, he's not anymore, right he signal.
Speaker 8 (01:19:20):
He was?
Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
He was the toast of the town, was he not?
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Yeah, you would you would think that that he was
a horse with how many feet he has in his mouth,
Like humans don't have enough feat to put as much
as he's put in his mouth. Man, it's it's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
That's actually the name of his podcast that you can't christize.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
No, he had some despair, I mean just he he
is a complete clown.
Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
But you know, you know who's not a clown, Stefan
Gilmore And he's going to help this defense and he's
going to play well and listen untill that's the twenty
twenty two p A. Well, it's it's an area they
came back and won that game. They did u This
is an area of need. This is where they needed
to address and they addressed it with one of the
best players available at the position.
Speaker 2 (01:20:07):
And I think he's going to help immensely this year.
I do as well.
Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
Super excited to see Stefan Gilmour in purple and gold
and wrapping up this segment real quick, Robbie me and
you were big MMA guys. UFC three zero five went
down yesterday, I believe in Australia. Yeah, Perth Western, which
is exactly where WW held an event earlier this year
as well. So shout out to Perth getting all the
big time international events. And shout out to Dricis Duplessis
(01:20:35):
for successfully defending the UFC Middleweight Championship by defeating is
He Adasanya. Yes, is he the last or maybe Shakespeare
asked that very same question and then the last style bender?
And then speaking of last, maybe the last time we
see style bender and in a prominent fight such as that.
(01:20:56):
After getting submitted in the fourth round in the main
event last night, I think me and you both were
texting before the fight saying, yeah, five years ago, Izzy
would have absolutely destroyed him, which I still stand by
that statement after seeing the fight yesterday, but we're both said, hey,
he's getting up there in age. I think he's something
like thirty six. He's been fighting for most of his life,
So you just sometimes you Father Time is undefeated outside
(01:21:20):
of Tom Brady and Lebron James, those are asterixes I
guess for Father Time, but Father Time is relatively undefeated,
and I believe that's a shout out to Dracus. I'm
not trying to take anything away from him, but I
think that was more so the case what happened yesterday
than Drac is being just significantly better than is he.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
Those two guys just go out.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
It was a brutal way to lose for Izzy, who
was fighting to become the second fighter net to have
three separate rangs with a belt after you know who,
Randy couldtour. His striking was looking vintage, I thought, and
in the third round there he landed some really good
body shots. Dracus looked like he was asked and instead
(01:22:01):
he's now left without much of a path to another
title shot. There was some acknowledgment of retirement speculation in
the octagon, but he said he's not blanking leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
As for Dupleasi, he's now.
Speaker 4 (01:22:11):
Beaten three less four middleweight champs with Izzy, Strickland and Whittaker,
and I think a rematch with one of them is
probably next, or he could face the fourth remaining champ,
assuming Pereira is serious about the picture that he posted
on Instagram after where he said he's coming to one
eighty five.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
So if we want to see.
Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Pereira against perhaps the champ dreichas that could be on
the plate, which again Polton Potos Poeton has some serious
power in those hands. And again he was finished by Atisania,
but he was caught. And I think that would be
a good fight to make next to one eighty five.
Speaker 1 (01:22:49):
I do as well, especially because it doesn't seem like
John Jones is coming back for that showdown in the
heavyweight division.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
He probably would, or he'd get busted.
Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
Doing cocaine or something along those lines. And speaking of
what's on the plate, Robbie Rosenhouse, Yeah, what's on our
plate for the final segment, the fan favorite segment?
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
What's cooking up?
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
What have the listeners cooked up for us? Brett Blakemore,
you know what the saying, be careful what you wish for? Yeah,
because you just might get it.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
Robbie's gonna have to tell his worst dates, sorry, because
that has forty seven percent of the vote. There's twelve
minutes left in the Twitter poll. But let's just let's
just stop the count's count.
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
We're talking worst dates in the final segment. If you
got a worst date story of your own, you can
text us six four six eight six. You can even
call us one one hundred three two zero five three
two six otherwise, we're wrapping up the show next last
segment of worst Case Scenario for the week, but as
we discussed earlier, we'll be live from the Minnesota State
(01:23:48):
Fair Come find the Fan of Booth eleven am to
two pm some jumbo worst case scenario shows to close
out the season, and then I think it's bon voyage
at least until the Viking season is Overhime.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
I'm unsure where world the worst.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
Case scenario will exist, but we will be back. We
will we will live on in the in.
Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Your hearts, and we will be back.
Speaker 4 (01:24:10):
Possibly if if the overnights are okay, we we perhaps
will be back.
Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
If that fixes his artificial intelligence, then maybe we won't
be back.
Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
Maybe it'll be robo Robbie Mecca, Max exactly. Yeah, you
don't have to Mecca, bye, Brett. I don't know what
is the word bitcoin, Brett. We made it there.
Speaker 1 (01:24:36):
We've made it there, and we're gonna get to Robbie's
worst date story. Just want to respond to this, Texter
real quick five oh seven Guy textent and says, Hey, Max,
did you feel like aunt learned a lot from watching
James and Curry get into that killer game situation mode? Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
I mean we just saw his game take a leap,
even playing on the international team the year prior, which
didn't have guys like Steph Curry, Lebron James, and Kevin
Durant who buy all accounts. Kevin Durant, which is probably,
you know, a childhood dream for Anthy Edwards. They were inseparable,
I've heard throughout the Paris Olympics. So I think we'll
learn a lot. I think we're going to see some
huge leaps in his game. And I think we already
did see that him playing a different role, because I
(01:25:13):
know he said, like, I'm the number one option, but
that's kind of not how it always went. He went
out there and played his role amicably every time that
he was asked to do so. So I think I
think he learned it incredible a lot. And he's yeah,
I mean, he's already an assassin, so he's just going
to be even more killer.
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
It's going to be fascinating to kind of see the
build up to the next Olympics because, as we've discussed
on previous editions to worst case scenario, he's going to
be the face of USA basketball and when we head
into that next Olympics, so it's going to be great
just to watch him as they go along, and you
can listen to us. Another text that came in here says,
sure do wish I could podcast my favorite show worst
(01:25:47):
case Scenario, but haven't been able to for months.
Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
I think we get this question every week. You can,
you can podcast worst case Scenario.
Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
We have our own page. Just type in worst case
scenario kfan on Google. It'll be right there. You can
listen to it on the free iHeart Radio app. Otherwise
usually we're kind of buried somewhere in kfan clips. But
just google worst case scenario KFE. As long as you
got that free iHeartRadio app, you're in good hands, brother.
Speaker 4 (01:26:10):
And shout out to branded Bills first sending us a
bunch of worst case scenario swag. For sure, we will
tossing it out at the State Fair. Tossing it out
and modeling it at the State Fair. So definitely come
out and see us the next couple of Sundays for
some jumbo shows.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Robbie Rosenhous, you're not trying to purposely, it sounds it
kind of sounds like you're pushing off telling this worst date.
Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
I don't have to get into it, but you threw
it up in the air and the listeners, Ali, you
slam dunked it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
So it's on at you, brother, What is this? What
is this horrible date that you went on?
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
We want you guys to get in yours, so I'll
give you the nuts and bolts of mine. So and
then ended up going on end up, ended up, ended
up going on a date with this girl. To make
a long story short, she wound up telling me it
was going to be a double date with a couple
of her friends. I said, sure, no problem, no problem,
group group setting. It winds up being her ex and
her exes knew what what again?
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
That was?
Speaker 8 (01:27:09):
That was something that was something that I didn't expect,
and they had they had been together for over a year,
but but she had told me before that they had
remained friendly.
Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
But I didn't know until I showed up that night
that those were the other two people that were coming.
So did you think do you think that that was
at a bounds that she didn't tell me or do
you think.
Speaker 2 (01:27:29):
Good line question? I think I think this is I
think that's weird. Yeah, I think that's extremely And we
had a fine time. But again, it was worse because
of the entire again worst case scenario.
Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
So yeah, if if if a girl is still.
Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
I was waiting for that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:50):
I was gonna feel if anyone, not just a girl,
if anyone is still friends with the X for my money,
in my personal opinion, you're not over that person yet.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
I'm still friends with a lot of my axes.
Speaker 1 (01:28:02):
I would also sleep with a lot of my access
still to Brett's point, so I realized midway through, I'm like, oh,
that's right. But like I wouldn't say like I'm trying
to get back in a relationship with any of them
or anything. But I think if something, if that was
going to be the circumstance that had to be laid
out ahead of time. You can't just set that wasn't
established before you got there.
Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
No, it was established that we were going to be
with two other people. It was not established that those
were the two people that we were going to be with. Now,
now we went to a we went to a brewery.
We didn't go to like the movies or like, yeah,
it's nice to chime in with just a couple of minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Gets around, But no, I mean we, I mean we left,
I mean we left. It was fine. I shook the
guy's hand and that was it. But yeah, it was
it was you gave a real firm hands. I gave
him a brohg. I actually invited them in for a
power trip viewing Brett bought. By the way, we left
(01:29:02):
that one on the table. We didn't you be in
that guy too?
Speaker 8 (01:29:05):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Like you meet here exactly?
Speaker 4 (01:29:08):
I wanted to pull him over to the side or
like exactly and be like, dude, you do you feel
as awkward as I do right now?
Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
Hopefully it didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
Hopefully nobody felt awkward listening to worst case Scenario because
we had a great show today, if I do say
so myself. Kevin Burkhart calling in Vikings linebacker Bo Richter,
lots of fun conversations which you can podcast on the
iHeart Radio app.
Speaker 2 (01:29:33):
Just type in worst case scenario. You can find us there,
and you can find.
Speaker 1 (01:29:35):
Us at the State Fair eleven am to two pm
next Sunday and the Sunday after that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
We'll see you there at peace.
Speaker 8 (01:29:49):
Do it
