(00:00):
Good morning, a goon Yaden andmoment gia. Whatever language you speak and
wherever you are at in the world, scratch that, wherever you're at in
the universe, humans aliens alike, you are tuned into what we affectionately called
the worst case scenario. I knowyou'll be shocked to hear this, guys,

(00:21):
but did we not make it tothe air. We almost didn't make
it to again for the twenty secondstraight week. The twenty second straight week.
We just got bad luck. We'rebusting. Don't put that on the
button bar our fearless leader, ChadAbbit. Many people don't know, but

(00:42):
aside from being the program director ofthis wonderful station, he's also the lead
singer of Mildly Spicy Tater Tot HotDish, a Midwest cover band of the
Red Hot Chili Peppers. His bandjust released their version of Californication called Minnesota
Abstinence, and he wanted to playthat for two hours. Turns out,

(01:03):
somehow he does not have permission toplay his own music on the air.
So low and behold, VOILA WorstCase Scenario is back for another week.
My name is Max Fuller aka RayFromano aka Captain Max Sparrow. I'm as
bad as it gets. If Iwasn't here, this show would be called
The A Team, if that wasn'talready copyright, because all my friends here

(01:23):
are as good as it gets.First up, a man that is so
utterly gutted by the passing of fitnessgirl, Richard Simmons. He came into
the studio wearing a leotard and apermed wig on. He is vowed to
do jazzer size throughout the entirety ofthe show. And I what they call
him the Cornfield Casanova. Here atMinnesota, we call him Brett Sweating to

(01:45):
the oldies More doesn't quite roll outthe tongue some of my other ones,
you know, as common would say, we'll send it to rewrite. Brett
has the whole VHS collection. Yeah. By the way, do you know
that Abbott played a song for usin his cover bands? Yeah, give

(02:07):
it away, because he's given awaythe air shot, give yourself and alto
that. I always love that man. Next, we certainly have some salt
to squeeze in. We got aguy who was never at a loss for
words, a man that has amillion stories for a million different occasions,

(02:29):
and at some point during the show, I'm sure he'll tell us something absurd
along the lines of he arm wrestledHull Covid and had a Star Wars convention
while wearing a jar Jar Binks outfit, and somehow it will be completely true.
That's why we call him the HumanOnion. That's why we call him
the International Man of Mystery. That'swhy we call him mister Robbie rosen House

(02:50):
six degrees of Robbi Rosenhouse exactly, not quite the same, No, not
quite the same. No? Isit the Baker Kevin Baker, Kevin Bacon.
Yes, everybody knows Kevin Bacon.Yeah, that's when they connect actors
via different films, And yeah, everybody knows Kevin Bacon for sure. We
are here hanging out with you untilone p m. And you know,

(03:12):
worst case scenario is not typically yourserious news a leader to borrow a bit
from Barrero here at the fan,But this is one of those things where
it's simultaneously would be it's weird forus to dive into something so serious,
but it would be even weirder ifwe had not touched on it at all.
Of course, I'm talking about whathappened and what went down yesterday in

(03:35):
Pennsylvania, an attempted assassination of formerPresident Donald Trump. A couple of people
I think are in a critical condition. One person at least is confirmed to
have passed. Very unfortunate incident yesterdaygoing down there in Pennsylvania. It's I'm

(03:55):
super comfortable saying like, yeah,no, Donald Trump is not like he
said and been accused of some thingsthat I think are reprehensible. Joe Biden
is not my guy, he said, and he said and done some things
that I think are unforgivable. Butthat that's not what this is about.
Uh, it's it's it's about that. It's just no matter who your quote
unquote guy is, the culture ofviolence in this country has just gone way

(04:23):
too far. And if we areway too accustomed and normal and numb to
it that even you know, somethinglike this, it takes something like this
to kind of shock us out ofit. Like every day I go on
I read the news, open upwhatever news website it is, you see
someone you know as a victim ofgun violence, and and you're just so

(04:43):
normal to it because it's such anormal thing here in the US. But
it should not be this normal. We should not. I mean, whether
you're a kid with your hood upin the wrong neighborhood or you're the fricking
former president of the United States,it doesn't matter who you are, and
body could be a victim of allthis violence that is surrounding us all the

(05:04):
time. And hopefully I would liketo, you know, in a just
and perfect world, I'd like tothink that this is the type of thing
that would unite everyone in the country, that we can all get behind.
That doesn't matter who your guy is. Nobody should be a judge, jury,
and executioner. What separates man fromanimal is words, is conversation,

(05:28):
logic, deliberation. We should beable to I get and I get the
you know, like the United Statesis a very divided nation right now.
I get that this is not goingto be the great Like we're all not
going to go outside and hold handsand sing kumbay A. But that's this
is something that should unite us all, no matter what who your guy is,
what your political affiliation is. Thisis something that is just reprehensible.

(05:50):
It's not okay. You don't getto take people's life into your hands.
And we're just surrounded by this cultureof violence that even a former president has
now shown himself to be immune from. It's it's a really scary thing.
And yeah, the country has obviouslya super long history of political violence,

(06:10):
and I I'd like to think thatthis is gonna be something like a changing
point in this country, you know, a huge flicking of the dominoes that
brings us all together and something thatwe can all get behind that this is
this is not cool, man,Like, we can't we can't have stuff
like this happening. We can't havestuff like this being commonplace. And we
all are so politicians, media, everybody. We're also comfortable talking with like

(06:35):
rhetoric of violence all the time aboutlike this is gonna, you know,
be war, this is gonna bethis And then we just got to throw
all that out the window man likethat. Yeah, it's it's it's tough.
That was that was very well said, and you know it comes it
comes from a place of love andand and certainly when you look at the

(06:55):
entire situation, I think it pointsback to one thing on both sides,
as we talked about off the air, and it's the rhetoric and it just
how it inflames kind of things likethis and these just disgusting actions. And
you mentioned before somebody had been shotand killed. It was actually a former

(07:15):
fire chief for Buffalo Township in Pennsylvania, a gentleman named Corey Comparatory, who
was the rally goer who was killedSaturday at the rally, and he had
a wife and children, and justan unthinkable situation for just looking at the
big picture and as you did,and just and just looking at our country

(07:39):
as a whole and realizing how we'rehow we're barreling towards the most important election
of our lifetime. You can tracethis all the way back to when Trump
was elected the first time, andthings just kind of been on a roller
coasters that since then, obviously withhim four years in office and four years
out of office. And I thinkthat we as a country, with social

(07:59):
media and everybody having the same kindof weight of opinion or they think that
they do, I think that's justinflamed things even more. And you see
this lunatic going out there and takingmatters into his own hands, and Brett,
it really is a sad day forour country. I just want to
keep it short that I just feeldisgusted by the entire thing. I think

(08:22):
Max, you said it very poignantly. I believe I said that work correctly.
Yes, that yeah, it's justthe fact that it was normalized in
the fact, I mean, onyou. Once you say it's okay for
one, then it's a slippery slopeand it comes right. There's nobody left
on the planet, right, youknow what I'm saying. So I'm sickened

(08:43):
by the whole thing. Exactly. You can't take other people's lives into your
hands. And obviously people were hurt, people have lost their lives. Like
you said, a guy that's gota family's got a wife, he's got
a kid. That just should neverhappen. And unfortunately, that kind of
gun violence. Again, it doesn'tmatter if you're a freaking kindergartener sitting in
class or you're the former president ofthe United States with Secret Service all around.

(09:05):
Nobody is immune to this violence thathas been running rampant in America for
a long time. And this isn'tnew because somebody took a shot a round
Reagan. Obviously JFK was assassinated onthe Grassy Knoll, So this is not
something that's been new that's in ourcountry, but it's clearly been ratcheted up
by just everything politically that's gone on. And we're not going to get into

(09:31):
the nuts and bolts of what's goingon with this election, but it clearly
has factored in after the debate performance, everything that Trump has come out and
said over his time at these ralliesand stuff, everything's just kind of factored
in. And you see one guytook matters, like I said, into
his own hands, and it woundup being a tragic situation, but also
a relief because the bullet if yousaw the still, the bullet was one

(09:54):
inch from his head. I canonly imagine what would have happened if something
I just can't even fathom. Butagain, a sad day for our country,
and hopefully both sides will just kindof take a step back, take
a deep breath as we move towardsNovember. Yeah, for sure, and
that's not there's a lot on theline for all types of different people to
varying degrees of severity coming up inthis election. That's not to downplay anything

(10:18):
like that at all. The politiciansare going to do what the politicians do.
But we as just civilians, ascitizens, as human beings, just
need to be I mean, itsounds super corny, but we have to
come together. We have to cometogether. You know, I'm not trying
to sound like the Beatles or something, and I get that this is not
a perfect world and this is notreally going to happen, but that's what
should happen. We got to cometogether and try to support each other man

(10:41):
because this is this is this isa crazy dangerous world that we're living in
and anybody can can be a victimto that, and it's just super unfortunate.
And I wish that wasn't the case. And we got to because this
has been happening for so long, for centuries. We got to start doing
the work right now, just sothat our kids don't and grandkids and whatever

(11:01):
don't have to live in a worldthat's like this where anyone where you know
a lot of people, I feellike in this country, it could they
think, well, it could bemy neighbor, it could be the guy
at the grocery store, it couldbe anybody, and nobody this constant state
of paranoia, this kind of aconstant state of danger that we're all living
in. It frazzles the brain andit's just no way for human beings to

(11:24):
be living in general. So hopefullywe can all come together. Hopefully this
can be a turning point. Havemy doubts on that, unfortunately, but
hopefully that they this can be aturning point and we can, uh we
can, something positive can happen fromsuch a negative incident in this country's history.
And that's I mean, hey, that's as serious as we're gonna get.

(11:45):
Yeah, like I said, itwould extremely odd if we just kind
of yeah, if we lost overit, people would be like, wait,
what did they just wake up froma coma. I'm running up my
intro and I'm like, man,as much as I want to talk about
receivers on Netflix from the show,he just doesn't feel weird, you know

(12:07):
what I'm saying. No, wecouldn't. We got a text seven sixth
three guy, You guys need togo back to talking sports. Well,
luckily for a seven six three guy, we're gonna go back to that sports.
We're gonna do that. This isthis is the people show here on
the fan, and we want tohear from you. Even if you got
to say that, and hey, your your wish has been granted, you
have two more wishes now, Sowe're gonna get We're gonna get to some
sports around the corner. We're gonnatalk receiver. We're gonna have a big

(12:31):
mixed bag segment, talks from USsoccer. We got Tom Shreyer of Zone
coverage dot Com. He's stopping bythe studio to talk Twins. The Twins
seem to have found their groove asof late. The All Star break is
coming up. Plus, a lotof people probably didn't know before all the
news yesterday, but that WOB draftstarts today. Did anybody in the room
even know that? Like I didn't, I did not know that this morning.

(12:52):
MLB Draft starts today. So plentyto talk about with Tom Schreyer of
Zone at coverage dot com. Plus, we will also be chatting with wind
Dell Epps the Links Radio play byplay box ahead of today's a big matchup
with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Plus, as always, we will
close out the show with our fanfavorite segment How it Works as the three

(13:15):
of us will each present a topicand then we will put it all in
your hands and that you vote onwhat we talk about. In the final
segment, Robbie Rose in house, what is your offering for the fan favorite
segment. Well SINCA Sports is goingto release College Football twenty five on Friday,
July nineteen, not for fan favorite. Okay, wow, it is

(13:37):
coming up in this well. Backin twenty fourteen, NCAA fourteen and GTA
five both came out a few monthsapart, and somehow we're getting a new
college football game before GTA six, which is what my friend points out.
So to that point, I wantedto discuss your favorite video games or sports
video game, favorite sports video games, favorite video game of all time.

(13:58):
I like that. Yeah, soI you almost snipe me. It was
very close because I have that onthe mind as well. This is the
last show that I'll work before Iget to play College Football twenty five.
Can't wait, and literally it's allI'm thinking about. But my spin on
it was gonna be stupid things thatyou've counted down the days for that you

(14:20):
just couldn't wait, Oka, andyou're you're looking forward to it, like
another one that comes to my Avengersendgame. I watch I watched that clock
just tick down the whole year thatit happened. Just just stupid things that
you look forward toss. So right, the last season. Yeah, yeah,
exactly, or just I mean peoplewaiting outside in line a best Buy

(14:41):
to get a camp or something likethat. Ye, anything, it could
be anything. We've all done it. We've all done it. I've waited
a tower records for summer, allright. So we got those two plus
I'm gonna go back to the wellit worked for me last week. I'm
going with it again. I say, let's play what's the scenario to close
out the show. I got somemore scenarios to throw at Shaw, so

(15:03):
I say let's close out the showwith some more what's the scenario? So
those three options will be up onTwitter slash x. You can vote on
the poll at Cavan one zero zerothree. Around the corner, though,
we're gonna talk about Netflix's new receiversA series, how we feel about it,
and what other athletes we'd like tosee get a show like that Worst

(15:24):
Case Scenario hanging out with you tillone pm on the Fans. You're listening
to the fans welcome back Worst CaseScenario on a Sunday, Max Fuller,

(15:56):
Brett Blake, Moore, Robbie Rosenhousefrom Man Derek is in here hanging out
Tom Schreyer warming up in the bullpen, so we get ready to talk to
him about twins. But before wedo that, Earlier this week, Netflix
finally released It's Receiver show, madeby the great minds behind last year's smash
hit Quarterback. For those of youhaven't seen it yet, spoiler alert,

(16:19):
it covers five different receivers throughout theNFL season. I'm sorry, I couldn't.
I couldn't keep it aside. Icouldn't. I got a spoiler problem.
Deebo, Samuel, George Kittle,I'm On Ross, Saint Brodavonte Adams,
and last but certainly not least, our guy Justin Jefferson are the featured
receivers. The cameras followed them allthroughout last season. I believe I've only

(16:42):
watched the first two or three episodesso far, but I'm digging it,
man. I'm kind of a lotof a lot of Pete and even muss
was in the second They pretty muchnarrated the entire second episode. Musse was
in the second episode for him,pa Hea and Pete narrated like all of
the whole parts of Justin Jefferson prettymuch. That was super cool to hear

(17:04):
just very surreal. It's like I'mwatching netflick. The fans reaches even reached
Netflix, you know what I'm saying. So I've really enjoyed it so far.
I am a little bit bitter becauseI can't be a hater anymore as
much, like you know, Idon't really I'm not a big fan of
the forty nine ers, but I'mlike, dang like Deebo Samuel is super
likable. George Kettle is the starof the entire show. I think thus

(17:25):
far, I think there's a reasonthat they chose to spend so much time
focusing on him. He's awesome, even I'm on rass browt. First I
was like, I don't know, this guy's kind of weird. And the
more he started talking, and thenI figured out that his dad was weird
and that's probably why he's weird,and I even started like it. I'm
on rossa bro, So I'm like, I can't hate on anybody anymore.
What that takes away half the funof the season. But it's super awesome

(17:45):
getting to see Justin Jefferson. Ido think it was kind of funny.
Everybody else kind of in their introswas like, here's my family, here's
my kids. I'm celebrating my kid'sbirthday. Blah blah blah. And justin
Jefferson's like look at these chains.Yeah, like look at these shames,
look at the dog. I amballing. It was like an episode of
MTV Cribs, but in the bestway possible. I love it. It's

(18:07):
just the duality of all these differentkinds of guys, you know what I'm
saying. Have you guys got achance to watch any of it at all?
Yeah, I've watched the first threeepisodes. I thought the uh,
the DeVante, the DeVante Adams stuff. Actually no, actually I've watched I
think five episodes now because I thinkDevanta Adams was the last one I watched.
So I thought his comments on Jeffersonwere eye opening as a former packer

(18:30):
who watched him a couple of yearswhen he was in great Now. I'm
basically just saying it's it's no secrethe watches his tape all the time,
and people don't talk about his handsenough and he doesn't drop balls. Basically,
he's a complete player and he's thatadmiration is mutual. Because JJ was

(18:51):
talking about how well Jets we gotto call him, not forget around.
Jets was talking about how much hewatches DeVante Adams tape as well. So
that's pretty cool that they have thatmutual love. Very much so. And
there are probably are you can counton one hand the number of receivers in
the league that are more talented thanthose guys as talented or more talented in

(19:11):
the league than DeVante and Jets. And I just thought looking into kind of
the bond with his family, Iknow, the chained stuff whatever, but
just the bond with Ricky and hisother brother and Jordan, Yeah, and
seeing beause just kind of how heinteracts the one thing that we as as

(19:33):
employees here at the fan get justa glimpse into because of our access,
but not nearly as much as likea Pa or Burstic, But those out
there get a window now into howgenuine and how real a person he is
and how kind of All the rumorsthat were flying around over the months leading

(19:56):
up to his signing the contract wasall a bunch of nonsense that he was
never going anywhere. That you seehis relationship with Kevin O'Connell and you realize
that when Ziggi Wilf has paid everybodyand maybe some players a little too much
from time to time. Well notsometimes definitely. I mean it's been proven,

(20:17):
so this is not going to bethe case. This is his sounded
investment. They're getting him in hisprime, and you see him now featured
on this show, and it's justit really is a pleasure to watch and
see everybody else seeing what we seehere at the station and what we have
seen as a fan base. Everybodyelse now gets to see for the entire

(20:40):
nation of the entire world that heis a superstar on and off the field.
I'm only two episodes in a couplenotes one, I'll continue to hate
the forty nine ers soon too soon. This justin receiving Raheem Moster just broke
another thirty ar. I still hatehim and he was a good guy on

(21:04):
Hard Knocks. He was a goodand I'm still like, I can't get
past the other thing. Kevin O'Connellis such a good, like purebred guy,
like in wrestling, white meat babyface, you know what I mean.
Boy, hearing him postgame after thatEagles game, I didn't think,
you know, like that's and I'mlike for it, no same shot.

(21:29):
I just did. I could Idid, seeing his interviews, seeing the
way he conducts himself, I justcould not even hear. I've never heard
his voice like above a certain volumelevel, you know what I'm saying.
And he's cursing and he's getting afterguys. But that's what you that's what
you got to do when you're anNFL head coach. I just was kind
of I was a little taken abackby that at first here in KOC,
Like, I didn't know he couldget after like that man. And I've

(21:51):
always been like everything, Like Robbiesaid, I've always heard that JJ is
not the diva type. He's agood guy, and this only confirms it.
The only thing was anyone else whenthey cut to Justin's house, was
anyone else expecting like a mansion?Yeah, like, oh, here's a
town home in Chasca. Right,I'm like, is that my parents' house?

(22:11):
But then the cars out in frontreal nice? Yeah, one of
these things doesn't belong. Yes,it fits. The motif behind the camera
on the either side was a twentyseventeen four tourists. Yeah, you know
seventeen, they still make four tourses. It was it. It's exactly like

(22:34):
you guys said he's just such ahumble dude. He's a cool dude.
And it's like, as a fanof the Vikings, it's cool to see
someone because then I got and I'mnot as like pearl clutching about the divadness
of wide receivers as some Minnesota sportsfans are, you know, but like,
it is cool to see Justin Jeffersonbe a humble guy and a guy
that you can root for as aVikings fan. It's it's tough when you've

(22:56):
been burned with the Randy Moss situationfor sure, as great as he's been,
Percy Harvin throwing weights at coaches, and then Stefanjak's basically begging his way
out of town. So when youhave those three high profile and three of
my favorite players ever to suit upfor the Vikings, you know, but
he's he's one of one and that'swhat makes him so special. Also,

(23:18):
one more note, uh with theamunrab bit. Nice to know that the
Packers we the Packers. I'm aPackers guy. We live rent free.
In his head, I love that. I'll eat that all day long and
eat that for breakfast, just retfree. Oh you played injuries because it's
the Packers Red Free. Anyways,Robber, you mentioned some of the receivers

(23:38):
of the past, and that actuallykind of leads me to my next question,
because obviously we've seen this style ofshow now with several different sports.
We saw Drive to Survive, whichdid absolute wonders for F one. I
never heard a single soul talking aboutF one state side before that show came
out. They've done one for Ibelieve tennis, now golf. They got

(23:59):
a bunch of other ones in theworks. But I'm just thinking about in
the past, not necessarily a documentaryabout someone that we already know in love,
but this style of documentary where they'refollowing them in real time throughout the
seas homes. Yeah, exactly, who is an athlete a former athlete that
you would want to see? Getthis a receiver style show? And obviously,
I mean you could just keep itin the receiver family. Randy Moss

(24:21):
would have been absolute gold back inthe day. But who's a Who's a
non obvious answer for their receiver styleshow that you'd like to see any athlete
from any sports I'm looking for.I'm taking applications, folks, for a
producer and also a director for mynew film Midnight Buffet, The Untold Story
of Joey Chestnutt. I want to, Yes, yes, I always love

(24:44):
that. I want to. We'veall said on this show that Joey's an
athlete, and he is uh anda proud American, So I'd like to
follow him on the road, perhapsfor a certain period of time, follow
him to different contests and see howhe competes. So that would be my
choice. You even got a titlefor and everything coming to theaters the Gladiator

(25:12):
until the kfan dot Com slash Gizzy. Still for Sauce Brett Blake Moore,
who was an athlete from the pastthat you'd like to see get a receiver
style show. I'm curious to hearyour thoughts because I just saying this before
you give your answer. I thinkyour favorite sport, hockey would be one
of these sports that could benefit fromthis style of show the most. Like

(25:33):
Bey on Ice product is phenomenal,But I think we do have a problem
with Matt really knowing who a lotof these guys are as people, as
human beings. We talked about iton Wednesday when we were all filling in
for Power Trip, and then itwas like, oh, by the way,
they're coming out with one and noone knew about it. Literally nobody
knew about it. This sucks. It's not a past athlete. And and

(25:55):
before I say this, this isnot me being biased towards my team.
It's actually taking a shot at myteam because this guy is so out in
left field. But have you everseen JayR Alexander talks so entertaining? You
can't tell me that would not beBut I'm not saying like, oh,
we need more Packers coverage. I'msaying this guy, as Rogers said,

(26:18):
he's not right on a lot ofthings. He's writing this. JayR is
one of one, dude. Heis his own like no one else is
like him. I think that wouldbe fascinating to see how he operates in
life. I actually that's that's whatI didn't think of. But I could
not agree more. He would begold. Just quotes on quotes on quotes
from Jaire Alexander. The first thinghe said when he reported to Green Bay

(26:38):
a couple weeks ago was the bestcornerback in the league has entered the chat.
That's what I saw is just oneof one. It's the best.
If they make a corner back one. Yes, Oh my god, I
mean that's going to be like watchinga serial killer documentary. Those guys are
psychopaths. That's that's gonna be reallyfascinating. Calve is that to the conversation?

(27:00):
Yeah, I've seen he's terrible,Scott Scott One told me he had
the worst character grade he had evergiven a player in the history of grading
players to keep to leave. Soagain, I'm sure you know he's turned
his life around everything, just hisbackground and things. He came from a
bad a bad, bad upbringing.Yeah, well, thank you for so

(27:22):
he would he would not be Idon't think he would be featured on the
show, but certainly would I wassaying, Ja probably Sauce Gardner would be
another good one, yeah, Jalen. Yeah, Yetlix right now, I'd
like some royalties. I mean, even just sticking with receivers from the t

(27:47):
O. Can you imagine him beingon a receiver for Sado is very entertaining.
He's I mean, he was myfavorite growing up, was he?
He was one of my favorite players. All the Bits. I loved it,
all the Popcorn with teall the Hallof Fame jacket. I was on
absolutely all of the Bits Anthony Edward'sanother guy from a different sport. I'd

(28:10):
love to see fallow. But that'sa cheat answer because they actually are doing
a Netflix receiver style show for theNBA and Anthony Edwards is one of those
players. I'm not sure if it'sthis upcoming season, if it was last
season. I can I tell aquick Ocho Cinco story. Sure, I'm
gonna try to keep it with underthirty seconds. I had a friend from
high school, Ocho Cinco is inDes moin for like his kids tracked meat
or something like that, and hebasically put out, someone play me in

(28:33):
FIFA in Des Moines. A buddyfrom high school tweets him back. Ocho
Cinco goes to his house and playsthem and he is a man of the
people. He used to tweet outwhere are we're going for dinner tonight when
he would get into town on Saturdaynights and in the road city and take
people out to take fans, justout, just going a random house.

(28:57):
That's how you know you're such agood dude that like nobody's gonna do anything
because I'm just chilling trying to playFIFA, you know what I'm saying.
I'm just that would be awesome seeingo Joe Sinko. Obviously a guy like
Ricky Henderson back in the time,it would just have to be Ricky,
like you could. The whole thingwould have to be about Ricky. They'd
have so many different quotes it wouldbe incredible. Obviously, Muhammad Ali would

(29:19):
have been absolute gold back and theyI'd like this j R. Smith,
J j R. Smith, Areyou kidding me? I mean that would
be basically like an episode of JerrySpringer as well, but j R.
Smith would be incredibly I would loveto see one about guys who aren't necessarily
R. Smith super He went onto play golf, didn't he in collegiately

(29:41):
right? Well, like I mean, like Jeff Tige he it was kind
of he was, he was hereand he was he was a decent player
in his time. But his podcastis all hilarious. No means a superstar
guy. So I would like tosee one about guys like j R.
Smith who aren't necessarily superstar, guysthat got to play on teams with the
striguing guy. So you get tosee it through the lenses, you know.
It's like when they when they writecomics where it's like a regular person

(30:03):
that sees Spider Man, like,oh my god, what's it like being
a regular? Like, you know, it's kind of like that you see
it through the lens. Well maybeof a regular person. And I mean
j R. Smith would just beunlimited quotes. So I would love to
see one about j R. Smith. But in general, I think hockey
could really benefit from this. BrettBlake Moore tweeting out the Ojosinko story.
Yeah, I know they did onefor golf that was yeah, full Swing.

(30:26):
Well that's that's what I was gonnasare. But yeah, that's that's
a pretty good show on Netflix.Yeah, So in general, just bring
on more of these shows. Iknow WW is going to Netflix. I'd
love to see one of these fora professional wrestler style shows, and I
would anticipate that that's going to happen. So in general, just give us
all of the all access shows.I mean, yes, we got these
people on social media now, butthis is just a whole nother level of

(30:48):
access and behind the curtain that wedon't usually get. So I would I
would absolutely love to see this andalmost any freaking sport and baseball I think
also could really benefit from a twoup sport that has problems, it's self
inflicted problems containing the personalities within thesports. And speaking of baseball, we're
going to talk to Tom Shreier ofhis own coverage dot Com around the Corner

(31:11):
about the hottest team in town, the Minnesota Twins that's coming up next on
the fan. Worst case scenario islive and a local on the fan on
a Sunday, a morning close toa Sunday after noon. Renowned poet and

(31:37):
thesbian Nelly once so eloquently said it'shot in her and he is right,
y'all. It's been like one hundreddegrees outside the last couple of days.
I've been sweating like a sinner inchurch with this damn poodle on my head
that I call an afro. Theonly thing hotter than the weather outside.
Robbie Rosenhouse, Brett Blakemore, whatwould that be? Maxwell? Your Minnesota

(32:00):
Twins. Of their last seven games, including a victory over the San Francisco
Giants last night, they would closeout the series This afternoon around three PM
is the first to pitch, andthen they're off for like what like a
week, Saturday till Saturday. Thenthey'll be back at Target Field to take

(32:23):
on the Brewers. I'm sure that'llbe a packed game. But they got
all of the momentum on their side. Heading into the midway point of the
season. They've been hitting home runslike the fate of the universe depends on
it. They are red hot rightnow. So who better to talk Twins
than Tom Shreier of Zone coverage dotCom. You've been on with us a
couple of times up when we werehosting nine to noon, But this is

(32:44):
your worst case scenario debut, sowelcome to the show top. Yeah,
I appreciate. It's a crazy, crazy team. You have to think twenty
eight straight games with home runs untilthat seven to one loss in San Francisco.
If you're not gonna hit home run, it's going to be in that
park. That hit that Jacks gaveup in the last game is a running
twenty nine of thirty parks and wentout to right sentence, so crazy.
You can hit it to the pose. That's where Carlos Santana did hit the

(33:07):
home run. Yeah, thirty forthirty half all the stadiums now. You
follow that Twitter account that what isit? Woold? Would it have donged.
You know what I'm talking. Ido know that's a real thing.
Yes, it's basically fights. No, you know the fan who caught that
the process, Yeah, the fanof caught the thirty for thirty ball offered

(33:29):
it back to the Twins for SanFrancisco Giants season tickets, and what did
the Twins do? Yeah, theTwins are like, no way, no
shot. Later later. I thinkthey often give like a bat or yeah
sign yeah exactly, Yeah, givehim, give him some garlic fries and
get him out of here. Yeah. I don't blame the guy though,
I'd have tried to hold it forransom too. Some of these, like

(33:50):
you know, some guy had likeJayleen Brown, like the ball from the
finals or something, and Jaylen Browngave him like a jersey. I'm like,
bro, you better pull up witha brown burlap sack of cash.
Like it's a cartoon, like ifyou were a real Yeah. Yeah,
the Barry Bonds the chase. Ifyou remember all those all the people gathering
in uh in the outfield and stufftrying to catch those balls. That one
guy, Zach Hampbell, who hasall those all those baseball yeah yeah he

(34:15):
does. Yeah, but uh butnobody was catching that one and except for
somebody in the stands last night.Well, it's just weird because it's so
significant to him, right, youthink in terms of baseball third history.
Yeah, he's like a thirty eightyear old player. Yeah, I mean
people thought he was washed like earfor sure when he signed. Everybody was
like wtf. I mean he's playedfor eight or nine teams, right,
yes, yeah, and so youknow, was rounding the bases. He

(34:36):
kept saying, you doubted me,no doubt, Yeah, and he was
pointing to these seals on the pier. Yes, yes, but yeah,
I just don't understand why it's sosignificant. They're in San Francisco, not
Nashville. Jerk, Tom, youwere saying, it's just so significant,
like personal to him, right rightto Santana this he's hit one in all

(34:57):
thirty parts, last long enough inthe in the league to do that,
and it's not I mean, theBarry Bonds went obviously, you go sell
that on eBay. It's a wholebunch of money or whatever. I even
know, during the quarantine, theyhad like pr people running out because they
were hitting like significant home runs rightinto empty seats and trying to find it
somewhere like somewhere in the stadium, right, and so, yeah, I
mean I understand if he says, hey, I want some sort of thing
from the Giants, right, Ihad my favorite player sign a jersey whatever.

(35:20):
Totally get that. But yeah, either way, I just this is
such a mind boggling season. Yougo back to seven and thirteen, that's
how they start, right, can'thit. Now we're hitting home runs twenty
eighth straight games, not striking outlike they were a year ago, twelve
game winning streak. The last timewas nineteen eighty that you had something like
that, And they're on one hundredwin pace since those first twenty games,

(35:44):
right, yeah, and so,and still there's question marks. How good
is the rotation? Who are thethree guys if you go into the playoffs?
Do they trade from their death whichis really important In twenty twenty two,
two years ago, ran out ofdepth, could not even with Korea
planet its best, could not makethe playoffs. Still chasing Cleveland, right,
right, and so I just thinkthat's going to be this year.
It's just we're not going to knowmuch obviously until we get closer, because

(36:07):
of how this team is playing. That's actually a question that I was going
to ask because it's been such anup and down season, Like, what
is the do you think the volatilityof the team is the prevailing story of
the team midway through the season thusfar? It was last year though too,
I think it was eighty seven wins. At various points, it's like,
give up on this team, lookat this losing street. I think
the theme is I think if theywin this series, it's like the seventh

(36:29):
straight that they've won, right, and we count winning streaks. That's easy
to continue to beat teams. Right, Two of three consistently tells you,
like, this team's much more consistentthan last year. And that is with
like you take a Royce Lewis out, they were down to Vasquez playing third.
I mean, there's no way thatguy should be playing third base,
and it's and it's so crea.I had a heel Brews, you had

(36:52):
Farmers out and Austin Martin, right, So those are the two Versatyle guys,
and you probably would have at Julian, but you learned of the heel
injury ninety minutes before the game, right, And so I mean they do
have a little bit of an issueof guys not reporting things. That goes
back to last year with Joe Ryanbeing hurt. Keir Lof I believe had

(37:14):
that. I don't know if that'sthe case with Lewis, but it did
seem weird that Lewis all of asudden stopped hitting then got hurt. But
with in Kraa's case, I thinkit may have just cropped up. He
probably thought he could play. Couldn'tyou have? Vaska's playing third? And
it's just they have fun players thisyear. I love that Willy Castro is
an All Star. That's a utilityguys. Detroit gave up on him.
Detroit had his dad like he had. His dad was a minor leaguer with

(37:37):
the Detroit but had been in thatsystem. Instead us paying two million and
arbitration, they go, hey,you can have if anyone can have him.
It was a call from Rocco comingback from his favorite brewery in Massachusetts
that sold him on the Minnesota Twinsminor League invite. I love Willi Castro.
I could talk about Willy Castro forhours, but he's a you know,
fun player. Contact guy gets onthe basis, steal those moves and

(38:00):
can play all over Austin Martin.Similar player, but can play outfield,
can play infield. Has to preparefor all that before every game. So
I think it's gonna be a funteam this season. They still have to
prove they can catch Cleveland, youknow, that's the thing in the second
half, and then they they aregonna have a really tricky deadline because you
want the death again. You wantdo On Basquez playing playing third base at

(38:21):
any point, but you probably needa third starter for the playoffs. Bullpen
is a strength you want to addto that, right add or reliever at
the deadline. So there's just gonnathere's so much uncertainty, and it's not
like years past where they have theDivision one and it's can they compete with
the Astros, the Yankees, thebest teams in the AL. It seemed
like the bullpen is back to closeto full strength. As you saw last

(38:42):
night, Duran was blowing people away. So down the stretch of the season,
we know that they're going to bein the in the chase for obviously
not only the wildcard, only afew behind the Yankees. They're in a
wildcard spot now, but to chasethe Guardians. The bullpen to me and
it seems like that was big,big sign last night. No, And
I think Brox Stewart's like the missingpiece, right, that's the last guy

(39:05):
they want to get. He hasan injury history. That's the only reason
why they have a guy that goodunder that kind of control. But but
yes, it's gonna be the Twins. I've always said they want to be
a power hitting, power pitching team. Right, you got to shut guys
down in the playoffs the easiest way, the way to guarantee to score,
hit it out of the park, right, And I think it's just gonna
be a unique build. It actuallykind of reminds you of like the Royals
in twenty fifteen, where the Royalsactually didn't have great starting pitching, guys

(39:29):
blew you away in the bullpen. You talk about the velo right from a
guy like Dran They had guys likethat and then they had the power hitting.
And it's a risky way too,I guess started winning the playoffs.
Pablo Lopez at his best, wehaven't seen that yet, right in the
first half. You want a guythat like you had in Houston last year,
right, who can just shut ateam down. Can Joe Ryan do
that? And then I think thebig question could you get that from Simon

(39:51):
Woods Richardson, who came up lateright as a rookie has over I think
that's a hard situation to put himinto or Bailey Ober young guy. Does
he have the stuff to pitch inthe playoffs? Otherwise you got to go
get a third guy. Do youthink that they are going to go get
a third guy before the deadline's likeat the thirtieth or something, right,
Yeah, I think they will.Yeah, we're probably two weeks out and
I think you're looking at the guyto fill the third slot. Right.
I don't think it's this massive move, and it's important because you want to

(40:14):
keep that core of prospects together.Because of the randomness of baseball games,
it is so improbable that they wouldhave lost eighteen straight playoff games. Yeah,
because they say, like in aregular game, like a Triple A
team could be at a major leagueteam just in the random results of baseball,
and of course it's mitigated by aseries. But these are short series
in the playoffs, so I thinkyou want to keep the core intact,

(40:36):
and that means you probably can't goout and get like an ace ace what
you need is Lopez to be better, Joe Ryan to be playoff ready,
get a third guy so you're notforcing over or what's richardson into the playoffs.
Very curious to know your opinion onthe manager, because coming out of
last season, there was a lotof mixed opinions on whether or not he

(40:58):
was going to be back this year, and with the start to the season
that they had, there were certainlyquestions. Now they've obviously turned things around,
sit in a playoff spot, andhe's in good stead and certainly has
managed things well over the last coupleof months. So short term and long
term, where do you have themanagers kind of standing with the fan base.

(41:19):
I think the hardest thing is likewhat people see is interpreted as almost
a computer, right, it's atthis many pitches, it's the third time
through the order. Get him outof there, right, and it feels
impersonal. And I think what Ihave seen just in covering the team,
and I think you can see it. He comes here and does an interview
on the fan and you see thisguy who's kind of calm, collected,
kind of a fun dude, right, and I think he is, like

(41:40):
I constantly in there see him talkingto guys individually, guys who are on
a hot streak, going hey,Miranda, we want to see more from
this. We believe in you. This is the player we think you can
be after a sophomore slump. He'llalso go talk to a guy who's at
a rough game and try to talkhim up. There is a very like
personal side to what he does, and I think that carries right. If
you can be authentically yourself, individualizeyour coaching, I think those are the

(42:01):
guys who can do this long term. And I do think stability is incredibly
important, especially in baseball, wherethe incubation period for a player takes so
long. Right, you want kindof the same voices, the same coaching
style they want. You want toreach the majors and understand what you're going
to hear from your coaches, right, And I think that's Listen brooks Lee
is a spectacular player coached by hisdad who has been at Call Paul for

(42:22):
like twenty years. He is probablynaturally composed. It's nice when he just
goes, hey, I'm going togo right from Saint Paul to Minneapolis.
I'm going to know exactly what I'mexpecting. I can go perform immediately.
We saw that from Julian. We'veseen this from guys they've called up which
Richardson, and so I think hewill be here long term. You can't
start seven to thirteen and not getcriticism given his tenure, Given there's been

(42:44):
twenty one they weren't successful, twentytwo they weren't successful with the expectations.
I did believe in the early starthere the twenty first twenty games, the
criticism was on Popkins and the hittingstaff. Right are they getting through the
players? Why are they not hittingright? Why are they below them in
doz line? But had that cantinued, naturally you're gonna face these We're talking
to Tom Schreyer of his own coveragedot com about the Minnesota Twins, and

(43:07):
Brett Blakemore has a question for you. Mentioned the turnaround and how dramatic it's
been. How much of the creditshould be given to the players, manager,
and how much of the credit shouldbe given to the rally sausage.
I mean, dude, here's thething, Like I totally the rally sausage
came out of nowhere. It wasn't, dude, we have this thing in
the back. We just don't knowwhen to bring it out. It's great

(43:30):
glass inside the stens. Just no, here's here's the thing. Now he
has a preserved because Rocko at onepoint was like, I understand sausages kind
of borderline food and like probably preserveslonger than we want to admit. But
he's like, I kind of wantto keep that away from the players after
it's been out and exposed for awhile. They had to at one point
Cali pr person have her send it, ship it out to like Washington or

(43:51):
something like that. We need thesausage, BA need our massa. They
should have used the salami, somecured meats. Perhaps, Yes, I
mean this is I think this ischeap. It's being thrown in like a
warm environment. Yeah, but Ithink I've tried to learn, like why
why did this happen? Man like, and baseball is weird. It's a
long season and trying to keep themup. I think it's just a distraction

(44:12):
those guys. If you're in aslump, if the team's losing, you
start gripping the bat more. Right, It's like I have to get on
base in this at bat, We'renot going to deliver with runners unscoring position.
We're not going to come back inthe ninth. And I think if
you can distract the players briefly.I feel like they had dance parties right
with Tory Hunter back in the dayor whatever. If you can kind of
distract the players without completely taking themout of the game, and dude,
it is hilarious. Like one ofour writers pitched a story was like Ryan

(44:37):
Jeffers and his Giant Sausage have turnedaround the Twins and I was like,
I was like, we have tobe professional on this, but you know
what I mean. And at thesame time, he's like, it's a
statement of fact, this is whathappened, and I think this is this
is I mean, yeah, Ijust think throughout the year you need to
have those little distractions, little incentiveto succeed. So if Abe Frohman is

(44:59):
the sausage Ryan Jeffers is, Ialways love that. It's incredible. But
I think that is kind of baseballthat you have these because the season is
so long, and because we're ina sports draft otherwise, you need these
little things kind of carry through andlisten to players. It's tough when you
haven't had in a bat in threedays and they go, hey, you
got a new game tomorrow. Soif the sausage of the Magic Sausage does

(45:20):
it? Keep throwing around this thisreally discussing, and they've had multiple the
Fishermen's Best, the Prince, theygot the celebrations covered now Ton. We
mentioned several times now just how goodthe Twins prospect pipeline is. I did
not know until this morning that todayis the beginning of the MLB Draft.

(45:42):
Nobody really cares about about the MLBDraft at all, and we don't have
to deep dive into it or anything. But do you have any thoughts anything
fans should look out for you forthe Twins, because obviously they've shown that
they have really good scouting. Theyhave really good selections throughout most recent history,
for sure. Is there anything fansshould look out for today? Any
guys that you that are on yourradar? Yeah, I have to.
And when they have the picks,I know it's twenty one and then it
goes from there. But I thinkthe Twin strategy has been get a guy

(46:04):
who gets the majors right, don'taddress need because even a college guy who's
pretty polished is not going to reachthe majors super soon. You know,
you want to have this pipeline forpeople like Walker Jenkins who's a young player,
Brooksley who'll be seen Atmanuel Rodriguez doubleA, and David Defesta, who
has made a picture who has startedin the major leagues. Those are kind
of the top four guys they wantto add to that, to that mix
and make sure that you have thispipeline coming through because of depth, because

(46:28):
great teams do have kind of cyclesand continue winning. If you have prospects,
I would say it may just bea college bat who's someone who they
think they can add. What youdo is try to package those guys,
and I think we may see thisof the deadline, get the picture right,
and on the flip side, youknow you may see them addressed pitching
depth later just having a number ofarms. Because Louis Varlan Bailey Ober,
I'm trying to think they've had successwith guys. Are who are in like

(46:50):
the thirteenth fourteen, fifteenth round, right, Go get a whole bunch of
guys. Actually a Festa is oneof those guys. Go get a whole
bunch of guys. Knowing that pitchersget hurt. Hope that you know two
or three reaches majors a few years. The Twins are off for the next
week or so. After today's game, it's the MLB All Star Breaking.
It kind of seems across all ofthe core four American team sports that the

(47:10):
All Star All Star Games have justgone the way of the dinosaur, you
know what I'm saying, Like nobodygives a rip about all Star games at
all. The MLB All Star Gameis on Tuesday. Do you think that's
just gonna be the future for AllStar games across all of American team sports?
Is there anything the MLB can dospecifically to get some more interest in
it? Or I kind of missedthe feeling of All Star games, you

(47:30):
know, But I also simultaneously don'tcare as well. No, I don't
either. I hate to say thatI do care. How many you know
the acclades of it, right, that Carlos Korea made it after a down
year, that Willie Castro, asI said, made it, and that
you maybe could see Joe Ryan orGriffin Jackson Aakan as a pitcher. But
I do think how many rack upmatters. I think the actual event because
we can go see other baseball games, it's hardest in that sport. Right,

(47:52):
there's sixty two Twins games. Ifyou're locked in there, it's hard
to watch, you know, arandom game of Mariners or whatever. But
I I think with other sports they'vefigured out how to have I guess you
have like a dunk contest. TheNBA kind of turns it into an event.
I don't know if they could reallydo that. I mean they should
with baseball, you should showcase likethe personalities the best players. I just
think it's kind of different. Inbaseball football you have the trouble of like

(48:13):
should you have a real game becausethey could get hurt exactly, And you
have the homer in Derby. Ithink that's the best kind of peripheral event,
right, even that guys won't doit because they're worried about screwing up
their swing. So I do.I think the actual event matters a lot
in terms of getting you three timeAll Star or whatever at the end of
your career. In terms of watchingthe actual game, I'd say like,
yeah, I'm not gonna be superlocked in and I'll see how the Twins

(48:35):
players do. Otherwise, to me, it's a break until you have the
Brewers coming up. In the secondhalf. And what I also enjoy is
the Futures Game, the Prospects Game, which actually took place yesterday down in
Texas, and Luke Kishel was theTwins prospect that participated in that. I
want to ask you about him,and also Walker Jenkins going back to last
year's draft and this year with thedraft being tonight, But last year there

(48:58):
was he that was a big deal. I remember getting a lot of coverage.
He was a high profile pick,a big power bat. He was
injured. Now he's had some timewith Fort Meyers. So how do you
see his path going And could itbe maybe on a on a Jackson holiday
potentially kind of career path there wherehe goes to double and triple a kind
of quickly and winds up with theteam and maybe a year and a half.

(49:20):
Yeah, I should have mentioned this. So last year the draft actually
mattered a lot in the sense thatthere were five guys who could have been
first overall picks. The Twins gotlucky that they moved up into that They've
gotten lucky that that people passing Brooksley, who went number eight, they got
lucky. They got in number fivein the Super Draft. I think he
could being an outfielder. It's niceyou can kind of put him in a
corner. As long as the batworks, right, you can get him
up in the major leagues. Ithink they see him as a cornerstone player.

(49:42):
It's not going to be quite aRoyce Lewis type, but I think
they see him as a very important, complimentary part. It also won't matter
as like Max Kepler, I assumehe's not going to be here long term,
right, so he could fill inthere. And then there's the question
of really Larnick and Walner, right, we've seen Larnick struggle succeed this year
while their struggles succeed this year.Gives you a little depth or another option.
I think that's a dynamic player.And in terms of Keishol, I

(50:07):
think he benefited from Brooks. Leewas supposed to be in that game.
Now he was down in Triple Aand everyone was like he should not be
hitting in St. Paul. Thisguy is ready. Yeah, And it's
a matter of again, this isthe weird ebbs and flows of depth.
Right, where's the spot on theroster for him? Now? They're like,
best because it's my third base, right, So I think you know
he was supposed to be in thatgame. Obviously, brooks Lee will take

(50:27):
being up in the majors for sure. I think this is actually nice because
it's showcasing the number five guy.I talked about those core four that are
probably untouchable at the trade deadline. He's kind of the next wrong next tier,
if you will. Double A issupposed to arrive in twenty twenty six.
I mean, he's on kind ofthe course with those guys. I
just think you know, it wasone. Listen, I think it was
one at bat he struck out,Like you know, that matters less is
this is showcasing this guy is stillspecial. This is part of the mix.

(50:50):
The twins are deep, you know, in terms of their prospect.
Tom, you're the freaking best.Obviously you're an elite baseball mind. I
know on the way up here, you said you wanted to talk about Korean
pop. Yeah, yeah, Wowachawatch it. You wanted to break down
the season for the series finale ofFriends, which I'm like, that's it
was like twenty years ago. I'mnot sure why you wanted to do that,

(51:12):
but thank you for indulging us andtalking some baseball. I appreciate you.
You're a multi sport guy. Youcovered the Temple Wolves, you cover
the Vikings, you do all ofthat at zone coverage dot com. Where
can the people find you? Yeah, zone cover dot com we have a
like forty writers. I'm one ofthe guys contributing there and edit all the
content. So yeah, if youjust want opinions analysis on on the Minnesota
sports seems, zone covers dot comand we'll definitely have you back on in
the very near future. That isTom Schreier of Zone coverage dot Com.

(51:37):
From want to Leap Mine to thenext, we're talking to Windell Epps the
Links play by play box about theCaitlin Clark game today, all about and
Moore second our worst case scenario rightaround the corner, an hour of worst

(52:00):
case scenario coming at you. MaxFuller, Robbie Rosenhaus, Brett Blake Moore
hanging out with you until one pmto the chagrin of some in the audience,
to cheers for others. Links havehad a hell of a season so
far. That's something that we canall unite and agree on. The Links
have had a hell of a seasonso far this summer. I mean they

(52:20):
beat the Liberty to secure the Commissioner'sCup. They currently have the best record
in the Western Conference and they've beenkicking their feet up chilling up there about.
By the way, they've been atop to West pretty much all season
long. But today is probably thebiggest game of the season, not necessarily
in terms of the stakes of thegame itself, but because arguably the most
popular athlete in the history of women'sbasketballs in town. That's right, Caitlin

(52:45):
Clark and the Indiana Fever are takenon the links down at the Target Center.
I'd say grab a ticket if youhaven't and get on down there,
but you're better off getting the TaylorSwift ticket at this point, I mean
it is sold out. There won'tbe an empty seat in the house.
Tip off as around three pm andyou can hear all of the action right
here on the fan. And whenyou do, tune your dial into one

(53:07):
hundred point three f MKFX and you'llbe greeted by the very professional and affable
tones of Wendell EPs the Lynx RadioWelcome back. We had you join us
when we were hosting Filling In fornine to noon, but this is your
worst case scenario debut, so thankyou for joining U, especially on a

(53:27):
huge day like today. My man. Yeah, man, it's perfect timing
to be hopping on. I mean, Kayln Clark is in the building,
right, We've all been waiting forthis. I got chills when you were
setting the scene right there. I'vebeen waiting for this day. Man.
We played every w NBA team exceptone, and that is the Indiana Fever,
and finally we were playing them forthe first time today. Can't wait.
And you've been there obviously for everygame, all the preseason, everything
throughout, and you would you agreethis is the biggest game of the season

(53:49):
so far, right, Absolutely,we're just talking about I mean, we
played in the Commissioners Cup Championship game. It's this game is bigger than that
actually, because we're gonna have themost viewers i mean on track today for
this to be the highest ten gameand regular season franchise history for the Minnesota
Links. There's only one WNBA Finalsgame where there were more fans at Target
Center for a Links game ever,So it's it's gonna be a big building.
Obviously, we all know the story. Caitlin Clark grew up a Minnesota

(54:12):
Links fan. My more was herIdol, so I know she's been looking
forward to this game and for thislink squad, I know they're looking forward
to national televised game as well inESPN, so it should be a lot
of fun. Is this the gamethat they're retiring the jersey for my more?
No, that's gonna be the nextmeeting at Target Center on augustin for
sure, Okay, for sure.Do you feel any extra pressure because it's
such a big game? I knowyou're a professional here, you're just such
a chill dude man like, butdo you feel any a little bit of

(54:35):
added pressure because it's such a giganticgame? A lot of adrenaline, you
know? For me, I mean, these are the moments I live for,
Like I want to be part ofthe big game, to have a
chance of call a game like this. We're gonna have a lot of listeners,
you know, obviously in state inMinnesota like we always do, but
I'm sure we're gonna get a lotof out of state listeners as well.
So I'm just looking forward to it. Any new listeners, any new people
we can get in the broadcast, and just soaking in the moment. Just
my view might not be as goodas some of the other things. There's

(54:59):
gonna be people in every see, especially right in front of me and behind
me. But you know, we'llmake it work. I got a great
production team by myself. Eventually I'mnot sitting in front of you because then
you would be able to see it. Damn you mentioned out of state angle
obviously, Kaylen Clark from Iowa wentto Iowa. There's gonna be a lot
of people probably driving up. Thereare five people driving up right now on
thirty five North. There were peoplewho probably camping out last night, to

(55:20):
be honestly, so people be inthe skyway. Yeah, So I don't
know. I guess what's your spidysense on what the crowd split is gonna
be. Do you think there's gonnabe a lot of HOWK I don't know
if you have any insider what's justyour gut feeling on how is it gonna
be fifty to fifty? Do youthink there's gonna be flooded with iowins and
Target Center? What do you think? Yeah, I have no doubt that
beginning of the game, you're definitelygonna feel the Clarky's in the building,

(55:43):
no doubt about that. But Ithink a lot of it's gonna be dictated
on on how Caitlin plays. Right, if she comes out and knocks down
to two three pointers in the firsttwo minutes, that crowd is gonna shift
over to Indiana Fever like atmosphere. But hey, our Minnesota Lynks fan base
is strong. They're gonna be doingtheir thing. I think it's gonna probably
be an even fifty to fifty. As you said, a lot of people
are definitely driving up from Iowa andthis is the close destination they can get

(56:05):
to. So I think certain moments, depending on how the game's flowing,
you'll hear more Caitlin Clark fans, hear more Indiana Fever fans. But I
know our Links fan base, they'regonna be showing out their moments and hoping
for a good game with that justcoming into the league. Just quickly on
Clark, I mean, she's averagingabout seventeen and seven to go with about
six rebounds a game, and shejust got the first triple double in league

(56:25):
history. So she's off to aflying as a rookie. Yeah, so
she's off to a flying star here. How do you see kind of teams
countering that? And or is Shejust that good that she's going to be
able to kind of overcome what teamslike the Links, who can really as
you know, can lock it downdefensively when they're on their game. How

(56:46):
do you see that play out? It's gonna be interesting because last three games,
Kaitlin Clark has had thirteen assists ormore. That literally is on a
streak right now. It's her highestassist totals of each game throughout the season.
A lot of that's been because herteammates have been starting to play a
lot better. Leah Boston right byher side, Kelsey Mitchell's well, like
everyone is starting getting involved around KitlynClark. So as prolific as a score
as Kaitlyn is, she's a greatpasser as well. People always, you

(57:08):
know, tend to forget about thatwhen they see you're shooting from half court
and knocking down three pointers from longrange. But the Minnesota Links, we're
gonna have, We're gonna have herhands on tap. I mean, it's
gonna obviously we need to stop Clark, get the ball out of her hands.
But there are other players in thatFever team too that also can get
dangerous and get hot whenever they wantto talking to Wendell Epps the Links Radio
play by play a box. Youcan catch him on lead vocals around three

(57:30):
pm. The Links hosts The IndianaFever and Caitlyn Clark now Wendell. Marnie
Gaeldner, our teammate and yours overthere with the Links. She made history
earlier this week becoming the first womanto call a Twins game in franchise history.
She crushed it, and she evencame up with her own signature home
run call quote, you better callyour mama, sir quote. So I'm

(57:52):
wondering, do you have a signaturecatchphrase that you're cooking up when you're doing
Links games? And if not,can I pitch a couple to you?
Well, first of all, Ijust want to congratulate Marnie again. I
mean, it's amazing the Mileston thatshe was able to achieve. She is
great. She's been a wonderful mentorto me. So shout out Marnie,
you are awesome. But as faras my own catchphrase goes Sawsan and crossing
man the one and I started thatyeah when I was back at college at

(58:19):
high Point, and I obviously carriedit over to here with the links,
and as soon as I saw peoplecommenting about it on social media, it
was one person things after the NewYork Liberty Games, and I love that
Sauson and Crossing calls like it's catchingon. And then someone else commented as
well. So yeah, I wouldsay right now, Sawson and Crossing is
at the top of the list.I'm working on a few others, but
maybe I have some new ones adebut today. We'll see, we'll see.

(58:42):
I have to know what your pitchesare, Max, Okay, I
have to you can, I gotto let me know. Okay, this
is the first one. Somebody getMaury out of retirement because insert player name
here is looking like insert other playernames here, mama. Okay, Okay,
I can't do it with Okay, can you put like fill into random

(59:06):
guyer? Okay, Somebody get moreout of retirement because the feast of Collier
is looking like Caitlin Clark's mama.Okay, No, you know, sometimes
it's just just depends on the game, like they just come out of your
mouth, man, you know.So all right, how about I heard
Ashton Kutcher started a new show calledDunked. Okay, that's why you're played

(59:35):
by play. Yeah, that's whyyou're a lad by, not me when
will have to send those two tothe writers to punch them up a little
bit. Uh? Now you thew NBA All Star Game is coming up
here pretty quickly. I think it'swhat is it like a week or two,
a couple weeks, next week, next weekend and it's in Phoenix?
Is here Phoenix? You got somethingcooked up for All Star weekend? Or
do you get the day off yougot to you going there with the links?

(59:57):
Or what do you got going onfor all Sorry? So after I
on Wednesday against Atlanta, I amheaded out of Minnesota. I'm taking a
break man break, so be watchingAll Star games. So we'll be covering
some stuff through social media. Wehave some more links and Leaf podcast episodes
coming out. But yeah, man, I mean this is the time right
now. You know obviously, youguys know I came straight from Orlando,
so been on the go since lastAugust. So it's gonna be taking a

(01:00:17):
little downtime. But very excited tosee the All Star Game. I know
the players are very excited. Iwas talking to came back about it the
other day. She's very thrilled. And you know she's gonna be going up
against fees, so that's gonna bea lot of fun to see how that
plays out. Yeah, and thelast time we talked to you, you
hadn't yet to start this new podcastthat you have with Links players. You
get these one on these really coolone on one conversations with various Links players.
I listened to a band it's it'sit's awesome. Keep doing really good

(01:00:39):
work. What is something that you'velearned from these sit downs with the player
that might have surprised you or reallystruck you, Like, who is Who's
somebody that you had a conversation with. You're like, WHOA, I didn't
know you had that much Like notyou didn't know they had that much debt,
But you're like, WHOA, Ididn't know this or this or this
about you. Yeah, I thinkwith all of them, but definitely came
back and even Land recently. Imean just about their their childhood, how

(01:01:00):
they got into basketball, how theirfamilies are so basketball oriented. It just
like proves like a lot of theseprofessional athletes, they got to come from
from some professional background, right,I mean, even with the fever.
Caitlin Clark has over ten siblings thatplayed college athletics Oka. It just shows
you a lot of it is genetics, but with k Mack and Land and
even Fee like all those players, you know, they all started somewhere,

(01:01:21):
and especially you know with k makher being a little bit on the older
side. Start off, she mentionedhow she she had been playing with boys
growing up like that he was atall boys camp and that's how she really
was able to build up her toughnessand her great and grind there. So
it just shows you know, howthings have evolved, how things have changed,
but also you know how that's alsohelped them toward position there in now.
It's really cool, man, tojust get to see some of the
athletes personalities. We're kind of talkingabout that at the beginning of the show.

(01:01:44):
There's a new Netflix show Receiver, all about all the receivers in the
NFL and everything like that. Who'sa w NBA player you'd like to see?
Get Like, I have a camerafollow them around all season. I
mean, I'm gonna be biased, man, min Minnesota. You know who
I want. I'm always gonna shouther out because I love her. Olivia
Poopa man point, she is funnierthan people give her credit for I Love

(01:02:04):
Ali. She is a fan favorite. I think a lot of LYNS fans
would agree. Every time she checksin she's always hustling. I just think,
like, you know, obviously,we pay attention to the all stars
and superstars. I would just loveto see, like a maybe get four
or five WNBA players from a coupleof teams that are like role players that
are not you know, necessarily inthe spotlight, because some of these players
have interesting stories. And we're gonnabe chatting with Ollie soon on one of
these future episodes, and she definitelyhas a story that I can tell you

(01:02:24):
is worthwhile looking forward to hearing thatwe actually were just saying the same exact
thing about these receiver styles because likeJeff Tigue, for example, wasn't a
super duperstar player. Good point. His podcast is hilarious seeing the lens of
a guy who was in the NBAbut isn't a superstar, the view from
all the way up there. SoI love that idea of you did you

(01:02:45):
shout her poop out last time?I got to text me and give me
the advance count. Unfortunately she's stillout. Yeah, she's still out right
now with the injury man. Butwhen she comes back, I can't wait
to see her. She is sheis so good and her defense is in
credit. Speaking of injuries and theFista, Collier are arguably the MVP of
the team thus far throughout the season. She's been out since the fourth of

(01:03:06):
July. She's questionable the return tonight. Any news, any word on either
one way or another whether she's playing. You think she's going to play if
you had the gut feeling you thinkshe's gonna play this afternoon. Yeah,
no official word yet on whether Fe'sgoing to be able to play. Probably
be closer to a game that indecision. I'm sure we'll hear from coach
Reeve at or pregame presser. ButI definitely think, you know, with
Fees, she knows how big ofa game this is. And I know
a lot of people probably saw herlast host media posts with the caption loading

(01:03:29):
like Fees definitely on the verge ofcoming back. She's progressively, you know,
getting better. It's what I've beentold, So you know, I
know if if, if he's healthy, she's gonna play. But I know,
also we're all Shoe Reeve, theTower organization is going to be looking.
You know, they understand that thisis it's a marathon, it's not
a sprint, right, We don'twant to rush feedback in anything. Obviously,
today's going to be a big game, and we obviously could definitely use

(01:03:49):
her, but you know, atthe end of the day, we want
to make sure she's one hundred percentbefore she heads back on that court talking
about All Stars and talking about AllStar Weekend. And we're here with the
Voice in the Minnesota Links wwendel EPsin studio Angel Rees. So there was
an incident yesterday where she tried toget her record breaking double double. Well,

(01:04:11):
she already broke the continued she triedto continue her record breaking streak that
she already had established, and shewas basically triple teamed in the last fifteen
seconds of a game that was itwas the Liberty, Was it Deliberty?
They were down by fifteen right,so the game was over. So she
shouldn't have even been on the floora to begin with. Right, the

(01:04:32):
game was over from like the threeminute mark, the Liberty had had basically
almost gone water to wire. Andyou saw at the end of the game,
and you know the type of personalityshe is and you know, the
type of vocal presence and the face. She's one of the faces of the
league for for better or worse. It doesn't matter who you are out there.

(01:04:53):
She is right front insteader, justlike Caitlin is. So she was
in the mix yesterday. How doyou feel about kind of her assimilation into
the league and that incident yesterday withher stat chasing. Yeah, you know
the I definitely saw the video andit was all I could think about was
me playing NBA two kN A.I'm on a Tuesday night. Man,
I'm trying to extend my own streak. I'm trying to fifty buzzer sounds.

(01:05:16):
But so it definitely was a littleinteresting. Her streak actually almost ended against
us. This was before the record. I was officially broken when we were
up in Chicago a couple weeks ago. But you know, with the w
NBA, sometimes you need different personalities. Not everyone can be the same or
a carbon copy, because then it'sjust it's gonna make the league feel blayd.
You know, sometimes you're gonna needsome of those players that maybe have
a little bit more of a ofa nasty edge than a more high arc

(01:05:38):
and personality. And Angelina she stillhas a lot of talent in her and
I know her personality sometimes can becontroversial for things she does. But at
the end of the day, she'sbringing in viewers. She's bringing in money
to the league, just like CaitlinClark is. Yeah, and that's really
the big thing. It's it's entertaining. You know. Her matchup against Kaitlyn
was the most watched game of WNBAhistory. That game on ESPN on Father's
Day with peaked three million viewers atone point broadcast think. So, yeah,

(01:06:00):
if you're bringing in money, you'rebringing in viewers, you know you're
doing something right. And it'll certainlybe must watch TV when her and Kaitlyn
Clark are on the same team atthe w yes that first time ever.
Yeah, I guess the Olympic team. I believe team a great chance.
Yeah for those two to showcase whatthey can do there. Yeah, that'll
be a lot of fun. Wereally appreciate you joining us today. When

(01:06:23):
where can the people find you outsideof the airwaves of one hundred point three
k f a N when there's linksgames going on? Yeah, of course,
man, Twitter, x EPs,Underscore Windell, please follow me there.
TikTok as well. Windell dot EPsfollowed me for all my videos that
I put out there. We're gonnaputting out a lot of good content future
games, and hey, if weget a we get maybe a game winner,
I don't know, we get weget something good with the Minnesota Links,

(01:06:44):
some highlight plays. I'm sure thoselittle track a lot, but I'm
looking forward. Today's game is gonnabe a gram sphere, absolutely, and
if there's a game winning shot, you gotta do. The more you gotta
do. The more you promised ushere today on live, live on major
market airwaves. You promised all usand the listeners, and you'll let everybody
down if you don't. I've nevergot a chance of call game winner.
So I got I gotta since Iwas like twelve years old, man.

(01:07:08):
So I'm super excited to hear youon the call today, Wendell. We
appreciate you taking a little bit oftime out. I appreciate you as always.
Of course, we'll hear Wendell lateron today when the Links host the
Indiana Fever tip off around three pm. And again you can hear all of
the action right here on FM onehundred point three Capan or on the free
iHeartRadio app a couple more segments ago, worst case scenario hanging out with you

(01:07:30):
till one cap an a couple moresegments to go, worst case scenario hanging

(01:08:12):
out with you to one p M. Don't worry though, or maybe worry,
depending on where you stand on worstcase scenario. We'll be back,
same time, same place next week, and we will close out the show
with our fan favorite segment as wealways do and Brett Blake Moore. The
polls are saying we're going to bediscussing forty six percent of the vote with

(01:08:33):
nine minutes left favorite sports video games. There we go. Okay, so
Rosenowes could be getting back in theWinter Show. That's right, just about
nine minutes, nine minutes to post, nine minutes. So if you want
to if you want to hear videogame talk, then just stay here right
to that. Thanks, Thanks you, you know you are such a gamer.

(01:08:54):
But if you want to change thefate of the show, it is
in your hands. Head to KFACamfan one zero zero three on Twitter slash
action. You can cast here.Otherwise we're talking EA College Football twenty five,
which we would have talked about inthe Mixed Bag segment anyways, because
we're that excited about it. Butwe'll switch it out there a little bit.

(01:09:15):
Thanks. I'll see you there.I'll see you in line apparently at
game stop later tonight. All right, guess tomorrow. I think it comes
out tomorrow, right, prepley,if you pre ordered it, it'll be
available to play three o'clock tomorrow.Let's go what not available to play or
at least be on the sidelines.Greg Burrhlter burr Halter, Wow, Matt

(01:09:36):
Burns burr Halter. After a disappointingshowing at the Copa America Tournament, the
US men's national soccer team has firedhead coach Greg Burrhalter. I believe it
happened on Wednesday this week, andmuch to the tagrin of nobody. I
don't think there's anybody defending Greg rightnow, that anybody that is lamenting the

(01:10:00):
loss of Burrholter. Robbie Brett,Blake Moore, you guys are both big
time soccer guys, elite US soccerminds, and I know you both.
Not necessarily I'm not gonna say youguys, you know, put his head
against the guillantine or anything like that, but you certainly were not. We're
not gonna shed any tears that helost his job. Am I correct in
that assumption? Well, I'd liketo think that he knows where his family's
next meals coming from. Okay, yeah, kivin Latrell exactly. It's not

(01:10:26):
like when Perez was coming to townand someone was worried about where his wife's
gonna work. You know, it'snot exactly the same. It was funny
though, that at Gi Arena, the midfielder for the US, liked the
thing on Instagram about him getting fired, like almost immediately. That's pretty funny.
With all that just goes to showwhere how to play. Everyone,
even the players were fed up withwith all Greg, which is weird because
some of them kind of petitioned forhim to come back, like like a

(01:10:50):
year ago, and now it's kindof over. It wasn't a year ago,
but you get my point. Iwas all for it. And the
concerning thing is is that it lookslike an MLS coach is coming back.
They're probably going to dip into theMLS waters again, which is super disappointing.
You guys would rather have them gointernational? Yeah? Absolutely, absolutely?

(01:11:10):
Someone, Yeah, go ahead,I'm Sorry, this is maybe a
stupid question. So it's not arequirement that the coach has to be from
the US. No, no,no, no, they are arguably their
best coach in the last two tothree decades has been Jurgen Klinsman, who,
which is sad to say, whois a German player who played most
of his career in Europe, alot of it for Brett's team Tottenham,

(01:11:33):
and it was one of the bettermanagers in the sport. And he was
a dual citizen between Germany and theUS, lived here for a long time
and got us to the furthest stageof the World Cup that we've been at
in twenty five thirty years. Kleinsman, by the way, one letter away

(01:11:54):
from being a really awkward, reallyawkward on the first day school for the
teacher. That's correct when factor inthat's German, that's six degrees of Joseph
Bubles, Oh Jesus oh Man.Yeah. Well, I didn't want to
say the H word name, butspeaking of the B word, and that's

(01:12:14):
Burrhalter. And he failed to qualifyfor the World Cup back in twenty eighteen,
and despite winning those three editions ofthe nation's League, which Brett loves
to trumpet about. I mean, they went and lost to the Netherlands in
the round of sixteen and they reallyhaven't had that sing that you win.
So I think that he had togo and I think it was time.
Max. Yeah, I don't thinkhe was coaching during twenty seventeen, but

(01:12:39):
that again to my point, itwas a completely different team back then than
it is now. But the problemis is that if Klinsmann is your best
coach ever or your best coach inthe recent history, that's a problem.
That's because he he just was coachingSouth Korea and was fired in like five
months. They got rid of themalmost instantly. So he's not a great

(01:13:00):
coach. As much as I wantto be bias towards him because he played
for my club, it just weneed someone with more experience than just the
MLS. And it looks like theyput out Jurgen Klopp was a guy that
they were going after, Liverpool's veryfamous name in their head coaching world correct
fall right, Yeah, he wasLiverpool's coach for what ten years, twelve
years something like that, maybe lessthan that, give or take. But

(01:13:25):
they they put out, they reachedout and almost like an hour later,
a news was like, yeah,he said no, like he doesn't conversation.
Yeah, it sounded that way.So but they're still trying, but
it sounds like they're just going togo for another MLS coach, which will
probably put us in the same spotthat we were to begin with. But
there's not a whole outside of coachingchange. There's not a whole lot of
like actual time on the pitch forthem to get better as a team.

(01:13:50):
Right there's not a whole lot oflike international showcases before the World Cup.
Right. Well, they do havecertain designated weekends on the FEEF calendar that
they get together and play friendlies. So for example, a team that's going
to be playing in tonight's Cope America, Columbia, they're gonna be playing Argentina.
Columbia took on the US in thelast couple of months in a friendly

(01:14:13):
and they whooped US. I thinkit was five to one, So that
was that was an alarm bell thatwent off. Then we have our showing
in Copa America where we get redcarded against Panama and we get ousted from
the tournament, not just because ofthat, but because of pretty much two
lousy games, the last two gamesafter beating Bolivia, and you see the
kind of the stock of the teamis not going up. The trajectory is

(01:14:36):
not in an upward fashion. Andwe'd love to kind of fawn over these
players, including number ten, includingCaptain America, but when it comes down
to it, they're not getting theresults done. And we've all been guilty
of this in so many sports,so many times, with so many teams.
Is that we get attached to theplayers and we don't want to blame

(01:14:57):
it on what exactly is going onthe pitch. And despite us thinking that
Burholter it was time to go,we also need these guys to step up
and make sure that they hit theground running here because in two years time,
right from this day July fourteenth, twenty twenty four, two years time,
they'll be playing the World Cup herein the US. It's going to
be the biggest spectacle, and wedon't want to embarrass ourselves on the national

(01:15:20):
stage like we did when we misseda World Cup back in twenty eighteen.
Yeah, it'll certainly be interesting tosee what the future holds for the US
men's national team. But wherever thatfuture holds, lucky to have you two
elite soccer minds alongside me to breakit down. Thanks man, Thanks glad
to be here to try and bea voice for the people on the sport

(01:15:43):
of football. Someone on the textline said, but what about Burholter's shoe
game. He's got that going tome, that's one of his bits.
Got some kicks, He's got thekick game. There's a lot of Burhlter,
like the apologists would always like tweetout like, oh, here's what
shoes he was hearing. And thenthe other bit he did was bounce passes.
So if there's ever like a likea ball out of bounds that went

(01:16:04):
to him, you'd do like abehind the back bounce pass to his player
and he would go in pressers andbe like, yeah, well if it's
moving up then they could throw itin fast. I'm like shut out.
Anyways, anyways, Greg, Yeah, that's really that is a really funny.
Yeah, two big games of CopoaAmerica Final, Euro Finals, soccer

(01:16:25):
fans foot to ball fans going crazy. I think the Wimbledon's probably still gone.
It's probably it's over now. Alcarezbeat Djokovic this morning in straight sets.
I was watching that in my studiobefore our show. Look at that,
so just wick work of Novak.Wow, that's impressive. Man,
he is the man. He's goingfrom uh, I think pretty quickly here
he's going to go from the underdogto be in the villain because he's he's

(01:16:47):
kicking ass left and right now.He is the guy. And what's amazing
is that he's about to dominate thissport when Novak is exiting and Federer has
exited just about he's he's literally aboutto just take if you think about the
era that we just went through withthose three kind of beating each other over
the last twenty years, and nowAlcaraz is about to end of the conversation

(01:17:08):
and he's about to dominate the sportonce again exactly. So that'll be super
interesting to see what the future oftennis hole did. We got a glimpse
at the future in the Wolves SummerLeague game the other day. Terrence Shannon
Junior, their second pick in thefirst overall, the first round. Overall,
he had twenty five points. Wolvesbeat the Pelicans. Nobody really cares

(01:17:30):
about the score because in Summer League, but twenty five points by Terrence Shannon
Junior, he looked like an absolutestar. He was dunking left and right,
just shooting Dillingham a little bit moreof a tougher game there. I
think he was only like two fortwelve from the field or something like that.
Four points. But Terrence Shannon Junior, Man, this is a guy
that obviously had a bunch of scandalover his head throughout most of the college
basketball season, but prior to thatwas being projected to be like player of

(01:17:54):
the Year, and he's showing exactlywhy. I'm not sure that he's gonna
he just has a a roster spotjust waiting for him with his name on
it. But after after showings likethat, he's going to go out there
and he's gonna go make his ownroster spot. Because that was just phenomenal.
Super impressed by how Terrence Shannon Jr. Was looking in the game and
just in general, how cool isit? Coolest tattoo maybe I've ever seen.

(01:18:15):
He has the g t a SanAndreas unlimited Ammo code, the unlimited
Ammo code that the dog right there. I'm all in on Terrence stan and
Junior. He looks phenomenal. Actually, the fan has learned that after the
game, Meat Sauce tweeted that SharonShannon is going to be the best timor
time. No, it wasn't justhis offense though, Max. Yeah,

(01:18:43):
it was his defense too, theway he got through screens and got a
hand in people's faces and really tookaway some easy baskets. I don't think
a rotation spot is going to behanded to him, but he certainly hit
the ground running, like you said, and there is a spot on this
team for a guy who could comeoff the bench and score in buckets and
also give them some really good defensiveminutes. As we've seen, the minutes

(01:19:06):
are not easy to come by onthis team. It's a long season and
they're going to use young guys toget through it. We saw that again
the West. We know where theteams kind of are slotted in. We
know the Timberwolves are arguably a topthree team, in the top two or
three team in the West. Wethink we think that they are, and
we think that we think that they'rethe best or or or right up there,

(01:19:29):
and they're going to have to relyon guys like him to stay up
there and to make to make goodon your prediction, because injuries are going
to happen and as we know, guys take games off, as you know
with the rest and everything else. But I just think this is a tremendous
pick by them, and other thanthe Dillingham pick, they it seems like
they knocked it out of the parkwith Shannon one hundred percent, and I

(01:19:49):
expect both of them to get intothat rotation sooner rather than later. It
might not be right away for Shannon. I definitely expect dolling him to be
in that in that rotationretty much dayone, but it might not be right
away for Shannon, but man,if he keeps doing stuff like this,
it's going to be sooner rather thanlater. And this TIMBERWLS team is going
to have some nice young pieces comingoff the bench, mixed with some wiley

(01:20:10):
veterans as well, with Joe Ingles, Nasried and Nikiel in the mix as
well, and with Kyle Anderson outand and you saw early in the playoffs,
not so much in the Phoenix seriesbut more in the next couple of
series, how big a factor thathe was, so it could come from
anywhere. And you know the volatilityof McDaniels, We know how streaky he
can get. Early in the earlyin the Dallas series. He was he

(01:20:31):
was amazing and then and then hekind of went away when the Mavericks decided
to take him away. So theyhave to get it from everywhere, and
it looks like they found another pieceto help. I'm super excited, can
now. I can't even believe. It's only a couple months away, right
back in basketball season, just mereweeks away from football season. Hockey's right
around the corner, Baseball playoffs arestarting. We're i mean, forget the

(01:20:56):
abyss man like we are right thereon the cusp of the bad time of
year. Certainly looking forward to thatand looking forward to the final segment of
the show, the fan Favorite segment, and the polls say, we're discussing
what Brad the Wolves deserve a lotof credit for getting us through the abyss
too. Yeah, serious, yeah, NonStop machine, Yeah and everything.

(01:21:16):
The winner of the today's polls, the fan favorite pole Favorite sports favorite sports
video game, will be the topicof the closing segment. So if you
got anything to chime in on thattextas six four six eight six, call
us eight hundred three two zero fivethree two six, otherwise we'll take it

(01:21:38):
from there. One more segment togo worst case scenario on the fan.
One more segment of w CS forthe week will be back saying time,

(01:22:00):
same place and next Sunday, hangingout with you until one pm. Just
want to give a quick shout outto Tom Shreier and Win del Abs,
two elite sports minds for joining usthroughout the show. Tom breaking down all
things Twins ahead of the MLB tradedeadline, the All Star Game, all
types of crazy stuff happening in theMLB, and the biggest Links game of

(01:22:23):
all time is going down at threepm at the Target Center, Links Indiana
Fever and Caitlin Clark in tow Makesure to check that out three pm tip
off right here on Kfan. Closingout the show with the Fan Favorite Segment,
You, the lovely listener, getsto decide what we talk about.
In the Fan Favorite segment, youwanted to talk about best sports video games

(01:22:47):
of all time. We've all gotsports games on the mind ahead of EA
College Sports twenty five. What apithy and catchy name that is EA College
Sports twenty five coming out later thisweek. I believe if you pre ordered
it comes out tomorrow for the restof us broke ees US regular Peasants and
peons. We'll be playing that dutifullyon Friday afternoon. I think a lot

(01:23:11):
of people I'm saying, maybe thiscould be the best sports video game of
all time, But do you guyshave one off the top of your heads,
that is the greatest sports video gameof all time, the single greatest
sports video game of all time.I would say for me, franchise wise,
in terms of consistency, this isprobably an unpopular opinion. MLB The

(01:23:32):
Show is the best franchise in sportsgame that there is in terms of consistency.
Every single year it comes out.It is phenomenal. They have the
gameplay, the difficulty that adapts tohowever you're playing, whether it's pitching,
whether it's batting. It's the dynamicdifficulty. It's amazing. Plus, I
really love a lot of sports gameshas kind of gone away from it.

(01:23:54):
I love when they include the legends. Man, it's so cool to be
able to get to have a lineupof like Hank Air in Jackie Robinson made
my own Barry Bonds, you know, like it's it's awesome and everything.
He's absolutely jack But I think MLBThe Show is the best before or after.
Yeah, both I got. Igot two different ones on this cup.
I actually do because because a coupleof players, I have the young

(01:24:16):
and the old version of them.I got the young and the old Satchel
page in my rotation, so nobody'stouching things that I got young and old.
Willie may think you can edit theheight and weight on Barry Bonds because
before, but I think like franchiseMLB, the show is number one for
me in terms of consistency. Obviously, lots of people have their problems with

(01:24:40):
Madden, lots of people have theirproblem with FIFA and all that. But
in terms of a singular game,my favorite NBA Street Volume twoh well,
that's easily that would that would havebeen absolutely all tis again. You got
the legends in there, you gotguys like MJ, and then you got
the made up guys. Stretch Obviously, as a young kid, Stretch was
my favorite. He's the tall guywith the afro. I pick stretch every

(01:25:02):
single game, just you know, doing the off the easy and just crush.
You're just crushing people with the withthe hesitation moves and everything. It's
the best. I love Nbastree volumetwo. What about you, guys,
what's the best sports video game inhistory. We got a lot of the
text line is blowing up with alldifferent types of answers. I just have
a few of my favorites here beforeI let Brett take over. I mean,

(01:25:24):
when I go in the Madden Franchise, I just think of two thousand
and four, and I think ofthe Michael Vick just playing with tam cheat
code and just being a cheat coachand just and just dropping back, rolling
out, taking off easy touchdown, play action every you could do, play
action, every single play, he'seither gonna get you twenty yards off of
a quarterback run or he's gonna bombit all the way down the field to

(01:25:45):
h as we talked about earlier,Trell Owins or Chad Johnson. If you're
me playing, yeah, yeah tothat point. That was the first year
of four where they had Franchise Mode. And I don't even have to look
to my right to Brett to seehe's nodding in agreement things. I'm a
big fan of the franchise mod. It's the best. Yeah, I mean,
that was that was kind of howI grew up on that game.
Another one would be a FIFA aboutten years ago. I think it was

(01:26:08):
FIFA fifteen or when they came outwith the first time they put the Premier
League stadiums and they got all thelicensing for that game, so they made
it more realistic. And obviously theFIFA games that have come out since then.
But if you want to go retroand go way back, I mean
NHL ninety four and the Ken Griffyjunior baseball games for me and Joe Montana
football on Sega Genesis would be okay, yeah, yeah, it would be

(01:26:30):
the three for me that that kindof and Wayne Gretzky hockey. When you
were playing sports games back then, did you ever think they would get to
how they are now? Like Imean, when you're playing something like that,
you never would have even fat themthat you'd be able to do the
stuff that you could do in sportsgames. I sat there at a desk
top okay, and played NHL ninetyseven using the space bar to shoot,
and the shift and the arrows andthe mouse. Okay. So this is

(01:26:54):
coming from somebody who used to playthose PC sports games on PC, including
MLB Triple Play ninety seven. Ifremember Triple Play before they came out with
with with mvy Well and m VVBaseball, I mean two thousand and five.
M v P Baseball is regarded byvideo game historians as one of the
best sports games ever created. Butyeah, I was totally into sports games,

(01:27:15):
just like the two of you guys. That we actually had a text
to text in into the text onhe said m VP Baseball two thousand and
five, exactly like you said Elite. We got a bunch of baseball stars
and Blades of Steel. Is thatI'm assuming that's a hockey and old school
hockey game Nintendo. That was Bladesof Glory. Blades Blade and Steel was
a very a very basic game onNintendo, but one of the earliest hockey

(01:27:41):
games certainly awesome in the in thevein of Mike Tyson's Punch Out came came
out, so came out around thattime back in the eighties. We also
have Mitch from fan Cato. I'mcurious here Brett Blake Moore's a choice for
his favorite video game of all time. We got Mitch from fan Cato,
who wants to give his take.Mitch, You're hanging out with worst case
scenario, what's the greatest sports videogame of all time? Man? Well,

(01:28:05):
I might have a couple actually throughCrystal. I do have nineteen NHL
somewhere, but I just do nothave the Sega. But I'm gonna go
with the Tech Bowl, Super Bowlof course of all time. Gotta go.
That's the classic. I mean, that's the grandfather of them all,

(01:28:26):
kind of right, I mean interms of sports video games. On sports
video games, I think Bret wouldargue it's backyard baseball, but I digress.
Backyard baseball is not. Is thegreatest good stuff of all time?
Yes? Well multi sports guy bythe way, talking about playing on a
PC. Yes, he's good atany backyard game, backyard basketball, backyard

(01:28:46):
Pablo Sanchez is the greatest fictional athlete. If you're not drafting him one one.
I don't care what backyard game itis, You're not drafting Pablo Sanchez
one one. He's the secret WebCome on, no, unbelievable. His
two need hit a home run thebest. Oh my god, I can
go buy hours and hours and hoursplaying my game. Backyard baseball is certainly
definitely up there, Brett. Butwell, what is your favorites? Is

(01:29:11):
their favorite sports game in the bestsports game the same thing in your mind?
Or no to me? It's ait would be a category like my
two favorites that I will play constantly. FIFA is one and then uh,
college football will be the other one. I loved NCAA back in the day.
I hope they can do that. You can transfer your players to Madden
again. That was all can Ohyeah, that was that was my favorite

(01:29:32):
part. Man, It's continuing mydynasty. Yes, yes, you're you're
road to glory. Yeah exactly. We did get one tweet that basically saying
there's he's concerned that there's a there'sno reviews out yet and meat Sauce on
that earlier. You can watch likeprobably twenty four hours of gameplay right now,
like they're not hiding anything from you, Like I'm telling you this game

(01:29:53):
is gonna be. I think there'sjust some games just have embargoes and stuff
like that. Sometimes that is fora preventative reason to get out in front
of but anything. I don't thinkthat's the case with with this game.
But my favorite all times probably NHLfourteen. That game is Unbelieving Marty Border
on the cover before they went tothe new xboxes and ruined it, and
then a special shout out to likethe SmackDown versus Raw games specially Okay,

(01:30:15):
dude, elite. I've been playingthat in my emulator. I mean I've
been. I bought an old schoolcopy on the PS two. It is
e elite and that's when WWE Gamesreally leaned into the ridiculousness of it.
Like the Jerry Springer aspect. Mercywas another one that came out. Man,
it was the best, and Ithink they're kind of getting back to
that, and I mean the textline is blowing up. We got baseball
Stars, NFL Blitz. Jens Blitzis a great a jam got a shout

(01:30:41):
out to Tony Hawk. Those gameswere incredible. I always could. You
could have talked about this for twentyminutes. That's my fault, as it
textually pointed out, I almost neverleave us enough time in the fan favorite
segment. That is my fault. That is because we had such great guests
here, Tom Schreier, when DellApps Elite baseball and basketball. Mind,
I'm super excited to have them inand have them talking to us about everything

(01:31:02):
that's going on in the city.Thank you, Robbie Rosenhales, thank you,
Brett Blake More, thank you Derek, and thank you a lovely listener
for spending a little bit of yourSunday with us. Worst case scenario will
be back next week. Stay safeout there, y'all. Peace,
