Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ex president of the Sons of Ben, Matt Gantastic, X Head, Capo,
Adam Booth, ex player, and forever a Union legend, Sebastian Latou.
These may be exes, but they're the experts when it
comes to the Philadelphia Union. This is Exes in the U.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome back, everybody, Good afternoon. This is episode number forty
six of Exes in the U again on Matt Gondazak,
a former president of the Sons of Ben. I'm joined
polis by X Head, Kapo, Adam Booth and of course
forever Legend ex player specially two guys. Are we ready
to talk about some Union soccer this week? Yes? Yeah,
(00:42):
Well let's just go over the match review of the friendly,
the which Adams that he didn't care about, but I
think deep down he was peeking at it. The Union
were playing Frankfurt, our sister city and Union alumni. Paxton
Aarinson was tagging along and Sabah, you did the call.
I watched a little bit on the YouTube feed, got
some notes on that, But what were your thoughts on
(01:05):
the game.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I think it was a good game, even if it
was just a friendly. But I feel like, you know,
the Union didn't just you know, play or didn't care
what was kind of like weighing for a wave after
wave of Frankfurt. I think they plays their style and
I think they give it all of I think problem,
especially yourself, you know, to Frankfurt to like press them high,
(01:27):
not let them, you know, try to get out too
easily out of their backline. So I feel like, you know,
even if it's a friendly and it was probably a
good session for Frankfurt because they're saying pre season, but
I that's what I said at halftime. I don't think
the coach of Frankfurt was very happy about the way
they play because the un I think, give a lot
(01:48):
of problem to them and we should have, you know,
maybe get more goals. But again we as a keep
surfing on a wave of the way we play against
Colorado and you know we big open up. You know
it's gonna play champions stake this year. You can see
like the physicality and the technical abits.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
He's very good from them. But I think we did.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
We did win and then second half of course, no
rough substitution. But everybody brings something Dorovs go to this year.
I mean it's friendly and yeah, it was. I think
it was a fun game to to be a part
of for the player. I was a great training session,
and then you know, for the final, I think it
was a it was a good show.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, it looked pretty fun from the little bit I
got to see, And like I said, I had notes.
I was trying to catch this thing on my browser
at him on my iPad, couldn't do it. Tried my laptop,
couldn't do it. Finally went back to my iPad, changed
browsers from non Chrome I was able to get it.
So just a note for the Union people, I really
(02:48):
had to work to catch this game. To hear Seba
and Dave go through, but brutal and out of them
both score. I think that's two guys friendly or not.
They both needed to put them on the back of
the net. And then we saw three of our young
guys get some time in and they look good, so
I thought it was well worth it to keep the
(03:09):
rust off. Adam, did you catch any of this?
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Oh yeah, I picked my head in, you know, through
about the same kind of hoops that it took for
you to get to it. It was about my kind
of journey to it as well. But I picked in
on it only because you know, I do like seeing
the young guys get minutes, especially when you think about
our academy in particular. You know, a lot of these
(03:32):
guys are not that far away from being contributors to
the first team so and in a serious kind of way.
So I'm happy to see them get some tick out there.
You know, I was very impressed by the Donovan goal.
It showed poise, it showed, you know, that type of
goal scoring prowess that I do believe deep down he's
(03:52):
capable of. I'm just not sure if it's this level,
but I do believe he's definitely capable of scoring goals.
I don't think he would get to this point his
career up to the Philadelphia Union if he wasn't.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
But I think that was good for him.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
I think Bruno getting a goal obviously is great fun.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
Fact.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Love Sister Cities Park here in Philadelphia if you haven't
gone to it. It's in front of Saint Paul's and
across from the Artist formerly known as the Four Seasons
now the Logan. Beautiful little park has all the Sister
Cities in it. And but yeah, look it was it
was a friendly, It was nice.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
For me, these used to be kinda for me.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
For us to put this in the middle of our
season always kind of felt cheap because it was just
kind of like, you know, other teams were about to
do their preseason and all that. We're in the middle
of August. But yeah, let's do a friendly against the
random European team that's about to get going.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
But there are.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Benefits to it, understandably so, and no one seemed to
get injured, so you know, not positive.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeah, I think I think the players in Sebastian can
answer this worse that they look forward to it just
to measure up against these bigger teams in Europe and
just to see where you are. But the first question
to answer that here for this but I missed it.
What was the reaction for Paxton coming on?
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah, I think it was a good reaction, you know,
I think the fan especially he came on in the
second half. But yeah, I feel he was almost close
to score. He got a big opportunity and just missed.
But I think even if he had scored, probably as
a fan will have a chair for him for his goal.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I think it was it was a good reception, you know.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
He had, you know, Iorily, you didn't play that much
for the team, so I don't think like as much
of an impact that it's maybe Brandan who played a
little bit more than him, but no, he was good
but yet But to come back on on the game,
I think it was good for the guys because and
even like what Elms said too after the game, it's
you have a team like Frankfurt who's gona PLA Champions
League this year. It's one of the big boy of
(05:53):
you know, European soccer and one of the top of Germany.
And you can see that the union and the ways
they play, even if yes it's pre season of Germany,
but they really give a hard time to them. So
you can see that the level it's getting closer. It's
not here yet, but we are getting closed. And I
feel like, what's kind of saying, you know, there's a
lot of kind of surprising moment just for the coaching
(06:17):
staff of Frankos, like, oh shit, okay, there's some good
young player out there.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
You know, you might need to keep an eye on.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Those guys during the season because we might need to
you know, get maybe the next paccent and Ronson whoever,
you know, come out to help them because there is
a yeah, a lot of good players who still need
of course to get to the next level with the Union.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
But you get to the next level when you play
for a better team.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
So I think it's it was a great showdown and
you can kind of see like the things the relationship
between Frankfurt and the Union mass still you know, be
a big one kind of especially in the development of
you know, use and you know, selling player to a
team that you know, maybe you can have a easier bridge,
you know to kind of like give player with a
decent price or the Union can make money and and
(07:01):
you know, having a player like that, we have go
the next level in Europe and.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
That's a great transition for the transfers. Adam, Now, Adam,
do you want to tell me how we we say this?
Is it Milan?
Speaker 6 (07:15):
Well, I mean the dudes from America, So yeah, that's
what I'm like.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
So it can be Milan, Milan, yeah, Milan, yeah, yeah, Milan.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah. So we get him from the Danish team, but
he came from San Diego originally, well not originally yes, no,
he was with the Danish team first, but it's owned
by San Diego. San Diego native played for San Diego
Jude Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Yeah. June's
twenty fifth, he scored his first ever hat trick in
(07:49):
San Diego against Vancouver. So it's not like that was
you know, he was playing Toronto or you know, Colorado
or something he scored against. At the time, Vancouver was
top of table in the West. So I was just like,
why would San Diego let him go? And from all
accounts was the loan that they had him on. They
(08:09):
weren't going to give him the money that he was
going to want. So he went back to the team
in Denmark and then the Union kind of jumped in
very Julian kranz alike. I mean, give Ernst all the
credit in the world. He kind of POUNCETI knowing that
this guy was a young commodity, but he wouldn't want
to spend that kind of money. And when it was
(08:31):
the availability was there, he jumped on it. So Adam
your thoughts and then we'll get Adam and we'll get
a seposthoughts on this twenty six year old young striker.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
This is a team that is saying they're going for it,
and I like to see that you know, I think
there's a lot of I think what a lot of
this year has come down to is there's like missed
opportunities for the Union here and there to truly put
some separation between them and the rest of the pack.
And I think it comes down to not having, you know,
(09:06):
enough off the bench firepower offensively. And I think now
having this level of depth going forward, you know, you
have at least four quality goal scorers now in your rotation,
and I think because of that, that's what championship level
(09:27):
teams have. You know, you have to have guys that
you can now come off the bench and create and
score goals and be prolific. And I think at this stage,
you know, especially coming down the stretch, adding to what
is already I believe the best goal differential in the
league already, if you add another attacking person to that.
(09:48):
You know, as much as I do, I enjoy the
Chris Daanovan experience, but to replace his minutes with someone
who might be a little bit more prolific can be
a real big game changer for this team down the street.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
I look, I think.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
After last year, there was a lot of conversation about
this team spending whether They're going for it whether they
want to you know, make the impact or do the
things that other teams are doing to try to win trophies.
You know, this is not getting Muler. You know, this
is not necessarily getting a Sun. You know, there's there's
(10:26):
bigger names coming from bigger from other clubs.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
You want to spend bigger purses. But this is a
sign for.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Me that the Union are all in and then they
definitely see this year as an opportunity to do some damage.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah, seb, I want to get your thoughts and then
to have one or two questions about him and fitting in.
So what were your thoughts on this this transfer for
the Union?
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I think it was, you know, a good surprise to have,
you know, a guy like him not being a sting
in San Diego. And when let's say, I think a
lot of fans maybe don't know him a lot because
he play on the way Scats and San Diego and
play lates. But when you know he had ten goals
and one assist, you know in the league already you
know he can provide. And he had four goals in
(11:10):
one game, which who does that? You know, like I
did it one time? He was an Open Cup against
a very you know, not a good opponent, but he
did against Vancouver so away, so it's yeah, it's you
can definitely this is his quality for sure.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
And he looks like you know, I think when you
know Ernst and you know in our broaday count and
when they take a players, they really want him to
fit what they want to do with the Union. I
think he probably fits great, you know, the team. And
it's a it's another person that we have, like Adam said,
to score the goals. And you know, as a forward,
(11:46):
sometime you are on fire, sometimes you're closed. So it
could happen maybe with one of the three guys we
have right now, maybe during the playoff run and we
need somebody else to you know, provide the goal and
it could be that person. But yeah, it's a it's
great you have another guy quality, you know, forward to
put out there. With all the game we have to have,
we still have a three possibility to get civil ware
(12:08):
today with a shield.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
We have the Open Cup.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
And we have the Metals Cup, so you need, you know,
a full team healthy and I think the way that
Break and I have been doing from the beginning of
the year, giving confidence and rotating, you know, all the
squad when we have big weeks, know it's one coming
up since Saturday, I know we are going to have
three week games with Open Cup. You want to play
the best team every time, but you need to always
(12:32):
get confident of the guy. And you can see it's
it's happening, like we got the goal from against Colorado.
We didn't play for a long time, but boom, come
on and provide two goals. And it's what you want
from from your bench. When the guy who started, you know,
didn't play bad. They know they played good, but they
were not able to put the ball in the back
of the net. So I think that's great, and it's
yeah player, I'm looking forward to we kind of know
(12:53):
all a bit more and and see his characteristic But
it looks like he's going to fit perfectly in all
the Union kind of type of offense.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
And yeah, you can please strike early. I'm sure he
could play even me sometime.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
And you're on the right side as well sometime or
left whatever we need when we need a more guy
to push forward. So yeah, I think it's a great signing,
and yeah, I'm excited for the you know the rest
of the season because we are, you know, knocking at
the door to fully get some silverware.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, and we always worry when we get somebody coming
over from Europe that it takes a while to you know,
get used to the league. But since he was already
in the league the beginning of this year, how fast
can he integrate with this team? Do you think he
could start playing this week next week and and be
almost fully integrated with the team?
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Sever for you, I mean I think so.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
I don't think the like Union team is is like
hard to get around, you know, all the team and
how he built. It's like whoever he's in if you
are in hnd percent and you give yourself to the
team and you don't think individually you are in.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
And I think it's this type of player.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
So I'm sure, of course it takes time a little
bit to understand the way defensively, you know, the Union
playing all about the pressing and everything and kind of
get ready, you know, like physically for those type of effort.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
But he didn't have no vacation.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
I mean, he was just already playing, So I think
it'd be feeling ran. Not sure if he's going to
start Tonto or not, But we probably for sure we'll
see him off the bench, you know, because again it's
going to be the start of a three game week,
so you want him to be already involved because we
have just nine game left in a regular season and
then the playoff starts, so you want, you know, kind
(14:38):
of bring everybody. Especially when you know you join a
new team, you want to be a part of it
right away. So I don't see him all like not
playing for a little bit. I think it's going to
be in the mix right away. But I think it's
it's easier when you have a team like the Union.
You come in a team you're already on top, you're
already know, serving with a positive attitude with everybody at practice,
and you just don't feed running, especially when you have
(14:59):
the confident of you know, the John madjoon as a
coach who wants you to be here.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
And Adam, this question is your expertise. He scores. His
first goal is the chance Milan Milan. Oh he got
a goal.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Now, Oh man, there's gonna be so I mean, you know,
I'm actually happy for a name like Milan. There's a
lot of versatility with that when it comes to chance.
But you know, I look, I'm excited for this for
a multitude of reasons. Again, it gives depth, it gives help,
you know, it gives a guy.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
And let's let's.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Mention the fact that it wasn't like the fact that
he just came from another club in MLS. He came
from a club that was competing. You know, San Diego
is one of the top clubs in MLS so far
this year. Which the trend of expansion teams coming into
MLS like Gangbusters continues and I find it fascinating. Honestly,
It's one of the more interesting things in our league
(15:49):
is the older we get, the more prepared these clubs
seem to be when they come into MLS than you know,
a couple of generations ago. But you know, I think
that's really important. You know that he came from a
club that was already competing and he was, you know, doing.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
Well there to come over here already with the ladder.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
This this is going to be really I think it's
gonna be really helpful for the U down the stretch.
And again, Milan is a really solid name that makes
a chance off of so I think the Sun's event
at all will figure that one out.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Let's let's hope. So and I'm told that they're not done. Yeah,
I don't know what that means, but I was told
there's more in the works. So we're gonna see some
really important news that Adam, you and I really care
about League's Cup. Oh that's tongue in cheap and really don't.
But the MLS teams kind of word back with some
wins and the best biggest news was Messi's bodyguard is
(16:47):
banned from the League's Cup, well from all technical areas,
because he got involved when apparently he shouldn't have. But no,
that MLS is actually coming back, and I think they've
got two teams now out of the five that are
left in this whole mess. So yeah, I mean the
MLS is making a tournament out of it. So we're
gonna see now transfer news. Some big names are coming
(17:08):
across the pond. Your favorite Matt Turner goes back to
New England. We could talk about if that's gonna help
him well, be firt are all the US men's national
team goal He's going to be MLS products. That's what
it looks like. The sun is now rising in LA
for a transfer fee about twenty six million dollars and
(17:29):
as you leaked, Thomas Mueller Byron Munich great joins Vancouver
white Caps gives them some uh firepower. So if you
had to choose between Sun or Muller, who becomes messy
and who becomes jeru because you know usually with these guys,
somebody catches on and they play well and you're like,
that's why we should pay twenty six million, Or you
(17:51):
get the Olivier Drew who gets one goal and you're like, Eh,
which one do you pick is going to be the
messy versus the Durou? I do On'm putting you on
the spot.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Both of them could be Drew, Like I don't, I
mean both could. Look, I'm I'm moved by both of
these signings. And I think if the two, if of
the two, I expect Son to play better. You know,
I just think he's a better player at this stage
in his career. Yeah, Like that's that's just what that
is as a whole. And I think he's more creative personally,
(18:26):
like he can he can make more himself.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I think not not winning trophies doesn't bother him.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
No, He's very used to not winning things, so he's
he's good with that, But legitimately, I think that some
could come over here and make an impact. I think
he's gonna have a good time, but I think he's
just over here to chill. Which more power to you,
my guy. I'm not really against you for that. Muller,
I think he could have a more of an impact,
(18:53):
mainly because he's a striker and he's just he's more
of a classical person in that position. But I think
he's a little bit more dependent on his teammates, and
therefore the volatility of that is, you know, a possibility
he might not get the mojo immediately. So I like
both of these guys. I'm fans of both of these players.
I think it's really cool that they'll be in America.
(19:16):
I would like to go see both of them play
whenever these West Coast teams eventually come to the East
Coast once every five years, like they used to really do. Yeah,
it'd be really cool to see Mueller in a Vancouver
white Caps jersey. But they it's also you got to
remember as many of these guys that come over here
in this stage of their career that think they're gonna make,
you know, impacts, like Kaka or David Villa or any
(19:38):
of those guys. There's just as many Steven Gerrard's Frank lebparts,
you know, just as many guys that come over here and.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Don't make an impact.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
I mean again, Olivier Drew just don't make an impact
over here because MLS is hard. It's not an easy league.
Even if you wanted to lower the talent level and say, oh,
we're just gonna carve them up, your nearest rival is
an hour away, you know, especially if you're playing in
Los Angeles, You're flying across the country just to play,
(20:08):
Like the l Classico for California is an eight hour drive.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
Eight hour drives.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
In half of these countries equal I'm not in that
country anymore, you know. So it's like it's different, it's different.
And so a lot of these players, I think, get
hit with that when they finally come over here, and
that's what they don't have as big of an impact
because they think they're just gonna go into a sunset.
And I'm like, half of these guys who played in
America also played hockey, So good luck, you know.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
So Sebah, if you had to choose between Sun or Muller,
which one's gonna have the messy impact and who's gonna
be like the drug impact if no pressure, no pressure.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
I mean, you know, like I think you can go.
Both can be missing, both can be you know.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Gerroux whatever.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
But I feel like just where they're in their carrier
Thinker is a bit older, and I think the only
thing for him very smart player. I think he might
see him more as they're giving a lot of assists
and being smart, you know, kind of helping his team
that way as a leader.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Not maybe too.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Much on the score sheets with the goals, but more
assists when I'm thinking.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
But the thing for him is playing on turf, and
it's different.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
He's not so young, so I don't see like the
impact on his body, you know more he played at home.
Of course, when they play away there will be playing
on grass most of the time instead of Seattle or Portland.
But it's kind of what I'm scared with him. It's
like playing on turf. What will he do to his body?
Knowing it just you know, was in off season, even
(21:44):
if he was with the Munich for the Club World Cup,
how is he going to start to kind of finish
a last ten games knowing that Vancouver is playing for
you all the West right now, so they're in good
place to win it.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
I think he might help, but physically I'm not sure.
You know where he's going to be at.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
And the impact, like Adam said about the travel and
you know, it's a bit different than you know, playing
in Germany, but if you come up with the right mentality,
you can have a big impact.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
And I think it's this.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Type of player who will come and you know, we
help the team and be here, you know, to to
make an impact for the Vancouver White Cups. And we
will see him the Union because you didn't go there
in a couple of weeks, so we'll probably have a
little test of what Miller will do because he will
be probably like fit at that point and probably starting
for them. And for Son, I mean, great player, you know,
(22:37):
a goalscorer. One on one, you're going to see him,
you know on one side, probably one guy on the
other side, and you know they're just going to go on.
It is going to be a lot of fun for
the Elephant. But again it's as a guy coming to
a new team. Let's see what mentality is coming with
la Is he just going to be here and finish
the season and be okay, I'm playing a hand percent
next season, always going to like ride away, try to
(22:59):
do something. But I think son is a great player
as well.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
But we'll see.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah, with the money is they pay him, what the
impact you know he would get on the film.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, And let's keep in mind one September thirteenth, the
Union play in Vancouver, Beautiful City. Stadium's a little weird,
but guys, remember it's stadium's turf. His home games are
all gonna be terf. I don't know if he's played
on turf since he was a youth player in Germany,
So that's gonna be interesting for him to see, you know.
And and the son's son's gonna probably make that money
(23:32):
back for the LAFC just because LA's got the biggest
Korean population outside of Korea. So I mean it was
it was a brilliant marketing move for them regardless. So
you know, you can you can say what you want
about the deal, but.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Look, there's there's a reason Shoho Tani plays for the
Dodgers exactly.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
You know, we're not.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
It's sometimes marketing does marketing, you know, but look, I
and again, as a person who likes Sun a lot,
and as a who knows he's probably still trying to
make the South Korean national team for one more go
for the World Cup. He might use this season to
help try to get him, you know, in shape and
going into twenty six.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
So there's impact possibility there.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
But you know, look, I'm excited either way jerseys are
going to be about to be sold, you know.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Yeah, yeah, it's still good for the league, but you know,
it's not the way the direction we would go. But anyhow,
European soccer, World soccer starting to open up. We'll probably
start talking a little bit about that next week. But
you know, all I want to do is, let's just
talk a little bit one more time about the upcoming
Toronto game. I'm excited. It's gonna be my first game
back in SuPAR Park in a while. So, you know,
(24:42):
Toronto number twelve on the Chucks Adam four wins, eleven losses,
seven times. You know, looks good for us Sebah you're
calling the game, do you want to talk about the
number twelve Toronto team and what we can expect from
the Union.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Yeah, I mean I feel like it's kind of those
type of game and we had few this season where
we know the opponent is let's say not in our
level or kind of struggling at a tough season. They lost,
you know, two of the best player with the Insignia
and Bernadeski, who are not the animals, so it's kind
of like, you know, rebuild for them.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
It's kind of like a little not a trap game,
but you know, a game that you don't want to
put yourself at the level of the opponent.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
So I think, you know, with a great preparation with Frankfurt,
I think the team play hard because they know he
was going to be hard. They play well against Colorado,
so I would love to kind of see the same
type of mentalities they play against Colorado, kind of you know,
a lot of high press, hopefully lot of you know,
sean target that we see against Corado and with more
gold that thing you want. It's kind of the same
(25:48):
type of press like game, but now pulling the ball
in the back of the net in the firstlf and
not winning the eighty nine minutes to get the win.
But even if you know it was exciting, but you know,
as a fan you want to get to three point.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
I think it's.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Not an easy win. But it should be three points,
you know for the Union Toronto. Yeah, didn't show much
this year. A lot of young guys who want maybe
to fight for their spot for next year to try
to you know, still be there. So it's not an
easy game, but we need to you know, for the
first fifteen minutes. I feel like, you know, put the
tempo in the game, show them they are going to
(26:22):
be here for a hell of ninety minutes, and you know,
we try to get a lot of goals, make some
subs start to manage the game, hopefully for Brightley. So
you can think already of the Open Cup on Wednesday
and then New York again. So I think now for
all the last home games we have three points. It's
it's you know, what we need to get if we
want to get the shield at the end of the year.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yeah, Adam, your thoughts on not twelve Toronto.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
I mean, you know exactly kind of how I feel
about this.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
Almost to say anything more just just be redundant to
what Sebastian just said, pretty much word for word, bar
for bar. The only thing I'd just be like, yeah,
smash and grab, see if you can get yourself an
early insurmountable lead to three goals early up and get
these guys out of there so they can get ready
for Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
You know.
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Look, Open Cup is personal to me, you know.
Speaker 5 (27:15):
And I know it's personal to set for his own
particular reasons and all that, but the Open Cup is
very personal to me, you know.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
And I really really would like to witness trophy.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
And it seems like this run, more so than any
other ones we've had previously, seems poised for this team
to be in the driver's seat to win that trophy.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
So I definitely would like if we could just get
a couple of goals here, settle down, get.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Everyone out, get alijndro Bedoya in there so he can
just run around and call some chaos for a couple
of hours or a couple of minutes, and get ready
for Wednesday against a Red Bull team that again we
beat them pretty much almost for the last five years.
But this could be the one, and it'd be how
devastating with that be if it's the one. So yeah,
(28:03):
I have really much nothing, not much more to add
to that.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
The only thing I can add, you said, I get
Baduia in there. I want to see the Union version
of bay At Grandpai there, Baduya and Cavin Sullivan and
they can run around and calls chaos. I think that's
the duo we would hate. We need to see.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Look, I'll put some Dennis the Menace out there. That's
fine with me. It's all good.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Just just stay healthy and prepare for Wednesday, and you know,
you prepare for winning and you win on Wednesday, and
just that momentum, I think will just I think we'll
really propel these guys into thinking what's what's a possibility
for the rest of this season.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Let's just get into it real quick. Red Bull coming
Back US Open Cup Part two. Weather looks good right now,
knock on wood. They're number ten nine wins, ten loss
of six ties. Seba, your former team, Red Bull, what
do you think for this US Open Cup.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
I mean, see, I'm not here yet. I'm really first
on Toronto and Toronto. Yeah, I mean, I feel like
the player is the same, and I think it's the
way Brady Caml has been, you know, kind of dealing
with the season.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
It's kind of one game at a time.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Let's take care of business against Toronto and then we
can focus on the Open Cup. After they already kind
of like work on that game before, so they can
of already know a little bit of the game plan.
But yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see, if you know,
New York is coming with like the same lineup. They
are playing at home this weekend, so they don't have
(29:33):
a lot of travels so they will feel fresh. But yeah,
they have just one day less for New York, you know,
as a rest because they play Sunday. So in my
maybe came in consideration for the Union, but you know,
we're gonna take it, you know, twenty four more hours
of rest for us. But I think it's a good
team and Open Cup it's it's different. It's a different
(29:55):
feeling you know when you play it. You know, it's
like you know you you you and you go through
or you go home. It's a yeah, I feel like
different mentality when you come to those games. So I'm
willing to see what's going to Toronto. I think we
could have a great game against Tonto, keep like stuffing
(30:15):
on the wave and then maybe we see some little
switch here and there against New York. But I don't
think it's a major switch because now we are so close,
you know, to leave this prophe.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
So Kanna is going to go all in.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
I heard better your interview saying that you know we
are going to go for it. Like it's not it's
not even a question about saving legs or whatever. It's
like it's almost almost there for us to touch. So
I'm I'm looking forward to another awesome game at home. Yeah,
like you said, the weather or stay good but back
you know, at super Park and it may be maybe
(30:48):
the last game at super Bow Park before the final.
So let's you know, get a good show and you know,
get the win and go to the semi final. It
was like kind of things the Union can do it,
no no problem. But first Toronto, good game, get three points,
keep everybody healthy and if there's you know, if you're
not on there, they can figure it out. What is
(31:11):
the best one for for the Red Books. But I'm
confident and I think you know, we'll be uh, we'll
be going through.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, Adam, your thoughts on the upcoming Red Bull US
Open Cup.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Oer, just look, I'm excited, I'm I will I'm nervous,
but I'm excited because I'm just always nervous about games
where you know, self aware is in reach. But I'm excited.
I think we're good. I think, look, I think we
should be the favorites at this point in the tournament.
You know, I think we're the strongest team left in
(31:46):
the tournament. I don't have and I mentioned this a
week ago. I don't think it's necessarily Chelsea in the
Conference League vibes, but it's definitely a situation where I
do believe you're better than most teams left in this tournament.
So you keep your head down and you play union soccer.
Let's hope they can they can lift the trophy. But
first and foremost, you know, rivalries or rivalries, you gotta
(32:07):
get through New York, you gotta get through Red Bull,
And it's something where as long as the effort is
there and as long as they they really focus on it,
I do believe they're going to move forward. But you know,
you have I just want them to take it seriously,
you know, and I think they will, and I think
everybody involved knows, you know, what this trophy could mean
(32:29):
to this organization and what and what it could be the.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Start of for the rest of this year.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
And no tonight they played Wares in League Cup and
then Saturday they play Salt Lake at home and then playoffs,
so you know, maybe that makes a factor. Who knows,
we're gonna say, but Sunday, Oh Sunday, gotcha. So yeah,
so we're gonna see. Gentlemen, if you, I don't know
if you have anything else you want to bring up,
(32:55):
but if not, we can we can wrap it up
or any any other things you mentioned.
Speaker 6 (32:59):
Adam, nothing, no, no, go hotbirds.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
But no, we're good. There we go. Well, guys, this
was episode number forty six. I want to thank both
of you for joining in and sharing your wisdom with
everybody in the Union Verse. And thank you everybody else
for listening. Thanks for listening to number forty six. All right,
go Union
