Speaker 2 (00:18):
I hope you guys packed your umbrellas.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
I just won rot an umbrella. Why is that today?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
It's February tenth.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
It's National Umbrella Day. It's National Umbrella Day.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yes, umbrella's even available umbrellas.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Give me one of those good umbrellas, umbrellas. How many
does you want?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
What do you need? A National Umbrella Day?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'm both cool with you. The better umbrella. Come on,
buddy for showtime. I think it would be an on
a summary month National Umbrella Day. I guess it's on
dead winter everywhere in middle of winter, but still, I
mean still it rains more everywhere in July and this
hemisphere gold weather advisory to tell you about on National

(00:59):
Umbrella We'll get into that. I'll tell you all about
the kind of supersid Minneapolis Monday winning too. National Umbrella Day.
Don't get caught out in the rain without one in
a couple of months when it rains here again. National
Football Hangover Day Today. How are you feeling today? Come

(01:21):
a nation of too much food, booze, staying up lates
at us, moving a little slow at ten o'clock, darned
and near. Trevor went to bed, which is lighter than
for usual. Any day, good day if we're a cute,
cuddly stuffed animal. Valentine's Week after all, and it is
National Poop Day today, because let's face it, poop happens

(01:43):
for everybody. Also, Random Acts of Kindness Week, a reminder
to do something nice for others. I wish I had
a nice forecast for you guys. Cold weather advisory. These
will be on and off throughout the week. I think
nine pm tonight through noon tomorrow, chance of Floori's afternoon
mostly Sunday. We get the above today, mostly clear, twelve
below Tonight, windshield values to minus twenty five. Tuesday sunny

(02:05):
six above, Wednesday mostly sunny, high only four above, and
for Thursday, mostly sunny, a high of four twenty two
degrees yesterday's forecast high. Our average high is now nineteen degrees.
Record low is one above, so at least we're trending
in that direction, the right direction right now, though we
have clear skies that we are sitting at two below

(02:27):
downsound grand forks, How are.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
You read.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
TV, the entertainment world and whatever? Here's what you missed
on Excel ninety three.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
For the second time, the Fins Libarti Trophy is headed
to Philadelphia, Eagles five and Super Bowl fifty nine. The
Eagles are Super Bowl champions for the second time.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Forty to twenty two. They take down the Chiefs. The
Eagles crushing in Chiefs forty to twenty two to win
Super Bowl fifty nine. Quarterback, it hurts your MVP. The
Chiefs hand won two straight Super Bowls, but this one
was over so early. The gatorade shower came with three
minutes left to go in the game. I'm doc commercials

(03:13):
a little bit, just because of my guest on the
show this morning. General consensus some of the best Super
Bowl commercials including Sloth sneading Corp's light to cure their
case of the Mondays, Eugene Levy's flying eyebrows for Little Caesars,
Glenn Powell has Godlei lines for ram Trunks. But of
course it's all subjective. What did you think welcoming to

(03:37):
the show. Let's say good morning right now, Allison Whise,
Brian Hi Hi good morning, Good morning. Fantastic to talk
with you today. The aftermath of Sunday Sunday Sunday, let's
jump right in the biggest of big and who wasted
eight million dollars yesterday?

Speaker 5 (04:01):
So there were a few that stood out. I personally,
I loved the Nike ad. That was their first time
in the Super Bowl since nineteen ninety eight. Really, yeah,
so that was a big moment for them. We'll see
if it.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Pays off the game did. They did a very good
job of just using the power of being the NFL
and kind of teaching us to be better people yesterday.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Yeah, yeah, I think so. I think some of my
other favorites were Disney. You know, they always do a
really great job of showing like the impact their ip
had on our culture. I thought that Totino's, you know,
fuzzy little alien character, can't go wrong with that. Dorito's

(04:50):
was pretty cool. The worst dads in my opinion copy
Mate Dancing Tongues.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Wasn't a fan that was that was the id A
pause and rewind that because it wasn't quite sure what
was going on there.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
It was bizarre, I think, and there was a lot
of horror as you can as you call it as
people call it. Throughout the game, there was the two
B guy with the fleshy boy hat, so there was
a lot of weird that.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Was also that was very Yeah, that was right up
there with the tongue, I agree, But.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah, overall, I thought that this this year's crop of
ads were land Some of them stood out as really good,
some of them stood out as really bad. But overall
I thought they were kind of trying to just, you know,
appeal to a really broad audience of Americans who right
now can't really agree on anything, so.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
It's so tough as salad. I am also enjoyed. Later
on the Stellar ar twinead David back on AD with
the other David. I thought that was funny.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah, I mean, you can't go wrong with David Beckham
and Matt.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Damon Clydesdale's I guess there's a longer AD. I do
my best. I try with all my might for the
two weeks leading up to the game not to watch
the ads until they come on TV. I like the
surprise of seeing it the first time during the game,
but as soon as that came on, my wife said, well,
there's there's a longer ad that's way better that he

(06:26):
could have watched online or still can. But I'm glad
the Clydesdale's are back. I'm always a fan.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Yes, and we had got a baby Clive Dale this year.
But I think to your point, yeah, it is, there
are a lot of longer cuts that come out, and
I think when you see the cutdowns, they're not as impactful,
especially when they're running in the middle of the game.
So it's really interesting the whole roll out strategy and
how that's kind of shifted over the years.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Eugene lovees there's a lot of hair in the Super
Bowl ads or I guess multiple must ashes and eyebrows
flying around. But I've always been a fan of anything
Eugene Lovey does, so I can't hate on Little Caesars.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yeah, that was that was the surprise trend of the year.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
For facial hair. It was definitely odd, but bland and odd.
I was drinking root beer. That was the only beer
that I had yesterday and I still was trying to process.
Now there's Seal as a Seal.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
Yeah, yeah, so apparently that was actually a meme that
was viral a long time ago. Seal as a Seal
and that's where that idea kind of came from. Definitely
caught my attention and gave me a chuckle. But I
don't know if it was sort of the best out
of the game.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
I just love Eugene Lovey, He's great.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Him and Nick Offerman and the Pringles ad like, you know,
taking these iconic actors, having them sort of not take
themselves to seriously. It's some of the best moments. I think.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
I wish there's a button on my remote, you know
how you can pull up the captions that is going
to tell you right on the bottom kind of if
you're watching Prime, it tells you who's on the screen
right now, because sometimes sometimes you miss some of the
cameos from some of the famous people. Well that's the thing.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
I think sometimes a lot of brands pack like too
many celebrities in their ads, where you kind of miss
the storyline because you're too busy trying to like pick
out who's in it. I think Instigcart may have run
into that last night because they had so many, you know,
recognizable mascots in their ads.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
But yeah, they didn't have enough time.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
They didn't have enough time to convey that that story.
So sometimes you run into that. I think with the
Super Bowl, it's like the idea is the celebrity versus
actually like having an idea.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Allison Wise brought the executive editor of aweek, if you
had to hand out a bronze, silver and gold, who
gets the metals?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Oh my goodness, I think Nike gets the gold because
that was just a big comeback moment for them, and
people were talking a lot about that ad last night.
Bronze there were I mean silver, Uh who was the
runner up? Maybe it was the Google ad that kind
of made me cry when I watched it, But they

(09:21):
typically tend to do that in terms of like human
eye think their their technology. Uh, bron does brons mean
the worst or does.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
It mean the third third best?

Speaker 6 (09:32):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Then I would give third best to Disney because they
just do such a good job of showing like how
much their their storylines and characters have really like embedded themselves.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
In for lives.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
So their concept of like imagine the world without you know,
Elsa and Star Wars and all these iconic stories and
characters I thought was really impactful.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
And one more will give the Wasted my eight million
dollars award. I don't know what we can call that.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
I'm really curious to see if bud Light wasted their
eight million dollars because after all the controversy they've had
in recent years, this year's ad was very clearly like
trying to appeal to a very specific audience. So I'm
curious if they like swung too hard.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
There was the cull A Sack party, right, the cul
de Sac party.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
There was something there, but it was there's too much
going on again, Yeah, and.

Speaker 5 (10:35):
It was very much, you know, work for bros.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
So appreciate the roundup of the Big Game and all
of the commercials. And it's been a pleasure to visit
with you too. I like to be able to process
now what I saw with what you said. Alison Wisebron,
executive editor from Adweek, Happy day after the Super Bowl,
the hardest working person on National Overday. Thank you, Thank you.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
Great to chat with you, Excel.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Ninety three after math of a big game last night?
Did you have any commercial highlights according to you best? Worst,
of course, it's all subjective. There's no such thing as
wrong answers. We'll just disagree with them politely. Let's see,
I haven't really seen anything I disagree with though coming

(11:25):
up on the Trivity or xlmighty three Facebook pages, all
Cash has to say is bring back Snooppe Kilded worst
halftime show ever. I made the observation yesterday. I'm sure
fans of Kendrick Lamar thought it was great, but it
was a case of not appealing to the masses last year. Usher,

(11:47):
he's been around for twenty five years. A lot of
us young and old no usher sons nothing to do
with genre of music at all, But Kendrick Lamar isn't
put the timing in as say Usher or many of
the other What was it the Snoop show? Was that
three years ago? Now Snoop Eminem and Dre and they've

(12:09):
been doing it sincerely nineties and it was an amazing show.
I thought, I'm with you there, feeling a country show
next year. It's kind of what they could have done.
I was thinking this during show. How about it? Like
Nelly with all of his collaborations, I don't Florida Georgia
line aren't together anymore, but do a lot of guest

(12:32):
appearances with someone like Nelly who's been doing it for
twenty five years. But appreciate your input. Thank you, Kasha.
I have Monster Jam tickets. We're gotten do here shortly
or Minneapolis Monday tickets. Passes to Nickelodeon Universe Most Mountain
Adventure Golf where you could pick the four passes to
Monster Jam in the Twin Cities Champain America opening up

(12:53):
this weekend. We're going to get you there. Got some
men's basketball tickets, Betty going to the Best of the Sloths.
If you asked me, the others all sucked. Casey, no
doubt about the Totino's pizza roll commercial. Bent was the best.

(13:14):
My worry there was like the price of the pizza
rolls are going to go triple in price just to
pay for this commercial. My Heart's get to beat a
few years ago and bush Light had a couple of
adds in the Super Bowl. I think that's why the
thirty packs are now over twenty bucks. Darry going to
Budweiser and Harrison Ford Budweiser great. I wish they paid

(13:36):
for more than thirty seconds for their Clydesdale ant will
still have to watch the extended one online. And Harrison
Ford driving a Jeep that was good too. And that
was tail end. That was fourth quarter somewhere. I do
remember that trending coming right up? How many people are

(13:56):
missing work today? Maybe if you're all so missing work,
you're not going to feel as bad. But first business
to take care of? Excel three?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Hi?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Well, hey or good morning? What's your name?

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Kelly?

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Kelly? Yes, Kelly? How's the weekend really along? See? Aren't
you go on Mondays here? Teach? I am am? I right?
We had Yeah, what'd you think of the game yesterday?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
And we're not doing this very boring game.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
I guess you can. Don't have a team you're invested in.
It wasn't exactly a nail brider. You're right.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Commercials were a little.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
They weren't as great as they have been. It's been
like a decade since we've had like a really, really
good year of commercials. I mean, do you have a favorite?
There's no one here that doesn't.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
The Duncans with Jane's pilot, Bob and Ben Affleck.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Just missing you miss not having a doughnut place in town.
That was my first thought. Yeah, Kelly, let's play let's
what do you want to play for? Here? Monster Jam
in Minneapolis, Nickelodeon, Universal, Most Mountain, a Venture Golf can
get you to Undi Basketball or Captain America Brave New
World with a loss Lessius the Boiler Gift Guard. What

(15:19):
do we want to don Okay, let's try to get
you there. I need three out of five rights, and
it's Super Bowl. Addition, that's a fact. You're ready, okay.
Philadelphia is the only city that said four major sports
teams in a championship game in the same year. Is
that a fact? Yeah, that's a fact. Nineteen eighty the

(15:47):
Phillies in the World Series, Eagles in the super Bowl,
seventy six Ers in the NBA Finals, and the Flyers
and Sanley Cup. But only the Phillies won the title.
But still all four run the championship. All right, Kelly,
let's keep rolling here. The super Bowl actually got its
name after Kansas City Chief's owner Lamar haunt Saw's daughter
playing with a super ball. Please, that's actually a fact.

(16:14):
The super Bowl. It's on displaying the Hall of Fame
in Kenton, Ohio. I had no idea until I've read
that today. Interesting, right, all right, number three we need too,
you have three more chances. We're still in good shape.
The first super Bowl didn't even sell out. Is that
a fact. That is a fact. There are thirty thousand
empty seats at LA Memorial Coliseum. Oh, let's do this one.

(16:39):
Somebody taped over the only copy of the first Super Bowl.
Is that a fact? Yeah, that's a fact. Supposedly the
network refused, excuse me, reuse the tape to record a
soap opera. That's hilariously true. Just when you think sometimes

(17:00):
you have screwed up at work, it could be worse.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah, who can miss day our lives?

Speaker 3 (17:06):
That is also a fact. Oh, I can only wonder
what the Demaros were doing back then. You're going to Nickelodeon,
the Universal most Mountain Adventure, Golf Awesome, Happy Minneapolis Monday
TGI AM with station has the best stuff to give
away on Mondays, guaranteed.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
AM trending TESTAGG trending on Xcel ninety three.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
So joke up this morning, pull yourself together and force
yourself to go to work or just suddenly come down
with that that bog that's been going around, Pretty easy
to use that of a lot of stuff going around
right now. I always think if you're fake sick, though,
you're going to get hit ten times worse. But according
to an annual survey and estimated twenty two point six

(17:55):
million American workers plan to miss work today super Bowl Monday.
I've taken super Bowl Monday off before it's a legit
vacation day. But that's up from sixteen point one million
last year up to twenty two point six million, also
breaking the previous record of eighteen point eight million in
twenty twenty three. There may have been even more no

(18:16):
shows than that, because this is just people who plan
to stay home. There were probably more who decided the
last minute not to go in. On top of that,
another twelve point nine million employees said they planned to
go into work late Monday after the big game. This
is why people keep talking about just making Super Bowl
Monday and annual holiday, since so many people go all
out for the game in one way or another. I

(18:36):
think it'd be a good mental health day. You always
talking about doing better for our mental health, but we
need a day on the calendar, and that would be
a perfect day. I like that better than the alternate
here that I'm going to share with you shortly. Survey
from last month fifty five percent of Americans saying the
Monday after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday,
but the NFL couldn't make this debate moot by pushing

(18:58):
the super Bowl back one week. Minds out with President's Day,
which is already a national holiday, even though everyone doesn't
get en off. The super Bowl schedule is set for
the next two years, but there's a possibility an eighteenth
regular season game could be added in the twenty twenty
seven to twenty twenty eight season, and if that's the case,
the entire postseason could get pushed back one week. Now.

(19:19):
Nothing's official yet, and the players' union says nobody wants
to add another game of the season, but in the end,
of course, money talks and a lot of analysis expect
it to happen at some point. Kill the preseason all
the gallery. Twenty two point six million US employees maybe
do one preseason game. Twenty two point six million US
employees will miss work today should be Mental Health Day today,

(19:41):
But for now trending everything I shared with you excelnety
three dot com the Charvity page.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Bet you didn't know random facts coming at you now,
that's as excel netty three all.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Right, Still learning today? Brought to us by the Blue
Moves n grill called seven seven three sixty five, one six, eight, seven, seven,
three sixty five one six for Valentine's Day reservations. Just
four sleeps away, guys, blue moose, and he's grand fours.
All right, hockey fans, Betch you didn't know it. In an
NHL game, of all of the team's goalies are injured,

(20:18):
the team has the option to suit up anyone as
the goalie, even someone from the stands. In fact, that's
sort of happened before they have an emergency third goalie
use in the stands somewhere A lot of times that
guy will represent either team. All right, let's talk the

(20:39):
first person to use the phrase bounding fathers Warren G. Harding.
That's right, the guy who doesn't regulate. I can't Warren g.
Harding when he accepted his party's nomination for presidents in
nineteen twenty. First person to use founding fathers took till
nineteen twenty. Betch they know. Colgate started selling a line

(20:59):
of dinners in nineteen eighty two, but they failed miserably
because people associated their logo Duke Base not good food,
thinking of fresh breath though eating their frozen dinners. I
guess I would give them give them a shot. Now
that I buy frozen dinners off And though Vetch did know,
in the early nineteen hundreds of peanut butter and jelly

(21:20):
sandwich was considered a delicacy and only eaten by rich people.
But by the nineteen twenties, the price of peanut butter
went way down and PEB and j's became more popular.
Oh why rich people don't eat delicious? Stuck the heck
with the escargons, And finally Vetch didn't know. I guess
not to be a downer after all that Super Bowl eating.

(21:40):
But a study from Goldman Sachs estimates by twenty twenty eight,
up to seventy seven zero million Americans will try to
zempic or similar drugs for weight loss. The US population
in twenty twenty eight is projected to be around three
hundred and fifty five million, with two hundred and seventy
nine million adults. That means up to twenty five five
percent of American adults who have tried oh oh zampic.

(22:04):
And now you know my co host is here again
and we are days away from giving hard stay having
no vacuum. The United Way has returned. Welcome, good morning,
good morning, fun to visit about your weekend.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
It.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Yes, it was out doors stopped. Look at you growing
up before my eyes.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Jumping on those snowmobiles, testing them out.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
I'd like to say I did a winter deal this
weekend too. I was in a hockey.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Tournament there you go.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
But it was not your average hockey tournament. It was inside.
It was in a buddy's basement up in Winnipeg. And
it's a bubble honks team.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
That sounds like a lot of fun. I'd be curious
to see what all that tales.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
It's amazing how fast time slides By flies By made
it to the conference championship. And that's as far as
my team went this year. Keep training for next year.
And you're talking about hurting from snowmobiling, I kind of
hurt too, from gripping the guys too hard, twisting my
wrist a little too hard. Oh man, those sports injuries.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
I know. I feel so out of shape by riding
that snowmobile this weekend.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
But you got a lot of fresh air and now
you're just invigorated for giving Heart. Stay coming up here
on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
I'm ready for it. Three nights away. We're ready for
giving Heart. Stay, building bright Futures. If you haven't got
your tickets, make sure you can jump on now give
GFGF dot org, Forge Slash Bright Futures. We'll be at
the Alris Center on Thursday, February thirteenth, So this Thursday,
seven thirty am, come out and have breakfast with us.

(23:51):
You'll get to hear from volunteers, community collaborators, clients. It's
just really going to be a great thing, like we
all get together and giving Heartstay is amazing anyways, by
the whole community sure, and the state coming together. It's
just so much fun to see all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
It's just so such a nice change from I don't
know if you watched the game last night or off
at all. Well, we'll talk more about that a little
bit right when we get into the question of the day.
But NFL did a good job of just reminding us
don't be terrible people, like just just let's pick up
our game. We can do better, and giving Heartstay is
just awesome proof up here how good of people. We've

(24:33):
got a lot of the good kind of gets hidden
in the world from everything else that's going on. But
Thursday we are ready to shine again.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Absolutely, It's that North Dakota Nice. Everybody comes together. You
can donate to not only one nonprofit, but multiple nonprofits,
and they make it so simple. You know, you go
to that website, you can go to GIVEGFEGF dot org
forwards last GHD can make your donation and to United Way,

(25:03):
but you can also find other organizations. Put it all
in a cart and check out all at one time.
They make it as simple as Amazon. Easy too easy,
easy pasy.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
You're not a way doing amazing things in our community
all year long too.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
We absolutely enjoy everything that we do.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
You know.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Twenty twenty four was a huge year for us. We
purchased a six plex and a three plex to shelter
homeless families in the Grand Forks community. Because we did
not have a specific place for sheltering families, we used
a lot of hotel, motel vouchers and masterleases on apartments
and so for us it was a big year. And

(25:44):
helping all these families is truly a blessing, not only
just to house them in shelter until they get long
term housing, but then doing that follow through case management
is so important. You'll hear on Thursday if you join us,
we have a client that we have been working with
for that twelve to eighteen months doing case management, working
on budgeting. You know, there's always things that come up

(26:07):
throughout the year and we want to be there to
be a partner with them and make sure that they
make it through all those barriers and those obstacles, because
day to day there's most people are living one paycheck
away from those situations. If you have a broke down vehicle,
if you have a sick kiddo, there's so many different
things that can really put you backwards, yeah, for sure.

(26:30):
And so being there for our families through our Families
First Program Kids Closet is always expanding open up to
the community as a whole, not only for kids, not
only for families, but individuals. If you're in need of
clothing items, school supplies, hygiene products, make sure you reach
out to us. Visit our website again, that's GIVEGFEGF dot org.

(26:53):
You can sign up to come shop and pick out
all the items that you want.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
So that's where we're going to gives again both one
of your many choices you're going to make on giving
hard stay. Let's not forget the United Way through out
the web address again and once again the contact if
you want to do the breakfast on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Give gf egf dot org forward slash Bright Futures. You
can always reach out to me two on eight seven
nine one two five six two. We are so excited
to have the community come together for a great day,
not only for the building Bright Futures event, but for
Giving Hearts Day. We'll show that North Dakota and ice.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yes, yes, we will have an O bank in the
United Way. My question of the day here before we
bounce you into the other room, did you have a
gold medal? The handout for Super Bowl commercials yesterday and
the worst of the worst My speech might be tougher
to choose.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
You know, I watched a little bit of the game,
not as much as I really would have liked to watch.
I was more so getting ready for this week. I
have a very busy week, very early mornings, so I
was actually getting a lot of my kids stuff ready.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Then I did to drive in from airmore today.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
I did, yes, and then tomorrow morning I'm on radio
at six am. So it's a very busy week this week.
So I was prepping yesterday more so for getting ready
for the week and focusing on getting those kids ready
so that I can be one hundred percent for UW
this week.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Did you watch any ads before the game? He said,
I did bet my best not to.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
No, I really did not. I watched a little bit
of the football game and kind of sad. But I
am in Kansas City. They're my second team. The Vikes
are my first team. Publicly, I'll make that announcement my
hopes every.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Year and the Vikings next year is going to be
the year from what I've heard.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
You know, I feel like we hear that every year,
and you know what I'm going to I'm going to
stand strong and I'm gonna stick with the team that
I really love.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
This is on the back of the helme I said that, Yeah,
years are year.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Next year's are year. Absolutely, But you know, all in all,
it's exciting to see the games, and it really it
doesn't matter who wins. Like I'm I'm excited for all
those players, coaches, everybody who's involve.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
The fun yes, forts is about.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Absolutely And you know the funny thing, I do find
it enjoyable. If you ever notice after the games, they
all come up to each other, they talk, they're laughing,
like It's kind of one of those things like you
play hard and then afterwards it's all good. Still, no
matter the outcome, there's.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Still a nice paycheck for them. Team who doesn't win
the super Bowl, they still make I think more than
I make in a calendar year just for the one
game the losing team.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah, absolutely so. No, I didn't watch a lot of
those commercials, but it was. It was a good game
and excited for well.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Given hart S Day Thursday, let's do it, guys North
to go to nice it up again and don't forget
the United Way, Heather Novak. Always a pleasure to have
you co host the show with me.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
I always love it. Forward to it. It's a great
Monday morning start.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
DG. I am guys big week.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Let me put it this way, or Monday morning more
on a war on my Excel ninety three.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
So we've had GPS and our phones for well over
a decade now. I guess these guys haven't heard of it.
It's my first thought here. Two morons from Missouri got
caught with drugs the other day after stopping to ask
the police for directions. Their names are Aaron Reagan and
Alan Richards. They're about twenty seven. They pulled up next

(30:23):
to some cops January thirty first, and asked how to
get to a Sage Beach. It's in the Ozarks in
the middle of the state. Turned out they were already
in o Sage Beach and didn't realize it. And that's
right around when the officers realized they might not be sober.

(30:43):
The cops they stopped ask happened to be there doing
a training session for drug dogs, so they brought a
dog over found two grams of map. Now both men
are facing drug possession charges. Two more on from Missouri
caught with math after pulling over and ask cops for directions,

(31:06):
and it turned out they were already in the town
they're trying to get to trying to get to the town.
They're in the town already. Alan Richards twenty seven, Aaron
Reagan twenty seven of Missouri. Third trip to Missouri in
twenty twenty five. We will hand out these shiny moron
a ward. So after math of the game last night,
we'll get into the question of the day again, talking

(31:29):
the commercials, the ads themselves, did you have a favorite
something you liked a lot worth the money? Others that
and It's like that every year too. You think, man,
they just wasted them to a lot of money. That
company might not be around for a while. What'd you
think answers rolling in hand out your your gold medal
and then the wasted eight million dollars award And if

(31:52):
you want to comment on the halftime here, we'll talk
about that momentarily. Cheryl seems to have the halftime and
the tongue commercial. I'm guessing that was favorites Margaret best.
The Harrison Ford jeep commercial like it was just me
because he said being the commercial close to the end

(32:14):
of the commercial even though my last name's Ford, I
drive a Jeep. But that was well done, like Harrison Ford.
Rene's saying the two B commercial pretty funny, best I
would say. And Cash is not a fan of the
halftime show last night, what did you think? Minneapolis Monday

(32:36):
in progress and kind of doubling up on the Minneapolis getaways.
We've got the Monster Jam four packs of tickets that
is in the Twin Cities, not this but next weekend
coming up to twenty second and twenty third, So it's
not going to run your Valentine's weekend plans. You get
the voucher you can go to whatever day you want
as well. Should we talk about the halftime For the

(33:01):
second time.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
The fitz Liberti Trophy is headed to Philadelphia Eagles five
and Super Bowl fifty nine. The Eagles are Super Bowl
champions for the second time forty to twenty two.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
They take down the Chiefs. Drake's twenty twenty five just
keeps getting worse. Birst kendrith Lamar cleaned up with the Grammys,
and then yesterday he went there and play not Like
not Like Us during the Super Bowl halftime show dis
and Drake track. First he performed Squabble Up, Humble, DNA, Euphoria,
Man at the Garden, and Pekkaboo, then telling the crowd

(33:37):
he wanted to quote play their favorite song, but you
know they love to sue, but he's still held off,
launching into Luther, following by all the Stars featuring a
guest appearance buying good old Scissors Scizza that says Za Sizza.
Then he finally got it, gave us nut like Us,
and while he didn't say the word pedophile, he had

(33:57):
the stadium singing along to the line Trina strike a
chord and it's probably a minor sounds so hip. When
I'm quoting Kendrick lamar lyrics, don't I also drop the
line say Drake, I hear you like him young? And
to add insult injury, Kendrick Lamar brought out Drake's Axstrina
Williams for a crip walk. The whole thing was being

(34:20):
was introed by Samuel L. Jackson also provided some narration
between songs. Oh there was one more guest I didn't
see you read about this till today who wasn't exactly invited.
A protester with a Palestinian flag ran into the field
and was eventually grabbed by security. That's a big investment
for a protest. That's an expensive ticket, is what I'm

(34:41):
getting at. What did you think perhaps it's time for
another country music super Bowl halftime show seemed to be
a trending vibe after the show itself. Last super Bowl
halftime show that was fully country was the nineteen ninety
four to one featuring Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt
and the Job. That was thirty one years ago. Now,

(35:02):
my first thought is bring some of it back, But
there's so much country crossover right now, like Morgan Wall
and Luke Comb's Jelly role. We play all of them,
Dolly Parton, Big Again, Lady Wilson. Everyone can get a song.
It can bring in like a Nelly who's been featured
on a cruise Florida Georgia, Florida Georgia line, little Bets.

(35:24):
The country crossover thing I think would work because it's
about appealing to the mass audiences. In one's opinion, from
doing what we do, you've always been taught to try
to appeal to the masses, and I don't think the
Super Bowl did that very well yesterday. It'd be different
than Kendrick Klamar had been around for thirty years. What
didn't you guys think? Well, the excitement is continuing to

(35:51):
build here, by the way, we've got a Super Bowl
nonsense round up here, the post Super Bowl show, Grease
Bowls one hundred dollars, salads and hash take break the
next But the anticipation of the next big event after
the Super Bowl, of course, is giving heart stay coming
up Thursday, and I am pleased to be joined right now.
Matt Callings from the Northland Rescue Mission, good morning, good morning,

(36:14):
thanks for having me on. Great to have you on,
Giving Heart Stay coming again, and let's just talk about
some of the amazing things you guys do at Northland
Rescue Mission on a daily basis why people should definitely
be considering getting you guys up here on giving Heart
Stay and making a donation for giving Heart Stay to
the Northlands Rescue Mission.

Speaker 6 (36:36):
Yeah. So we are an emergency shelter for people experiencing homelessness.
I think most people know that. You know, we provide
the basics, beds, three meal a day, showers, clothing and more.
But what kind of sets us apart is we have
a team of social workers who are helping our clients
find jobs, get housing, manage health issues, you know, overcome addiction,

(36:58):
whatever they need to get back on their feet. And
that's why last year almost seventy percent of the people
who stayed here ended up in their own home.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Oh it's fantastic, some good stats right there. Yeah, so
giving Hearts Day, you guys always can use a little.

Speaker 6 (37:16):
More, yes, yeah, So we are about ninety percent funded
by individual donors, you know, just individuals, families, businesses giving back.
And so we're asking people if you can provide like
that first night of shelter for a client cost ninety
dollars to do that, and that gets them in the
door and into our system where they have a really

(37:38):
good chance of getting housed. And donations are being matched
of course for giving Heart Stay. So that's now through
February thirteenth.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Yeah, we don't have to wait till Thursday. Correct, Yeah,
go ahead throw the website out. I kind of jumped
on you a little.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
Yeah, no worries. It is Givingheartsday dot org. And yeah,
now through February thirteenths are being matched.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
And I don't know if you're feeling it, Matt, I'm
feeling it that we are going to break a record
again in North Dakota this year. I think. So.

Speaker 6 (38:09):
It just seems like something that keeps on growing, and
you know there's more people hear about it. We have
so many generous people here so won't say learn about it.
They want to be a part of it.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Now there's over six hundred choices, but you're allowed to
pick as many as you want. Its kind of like
your shopping Amazon to keep adding to Corky. You check
out all at once, and you're going to feel really
good when you help amazing people, like say the Northland
Rescue Mission, Matt Collins Again, Matt, props to what you
guys do on a daily basis for the community and

(38:39):
just for people in general. And let's hope for the best.
And I know what's going to happen on Giving Hearts
Day this year. We're going to break down record.

Speaker 6 (38:47):
Yes, sir, thank you so much for having me on.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Pleasure my friend, Giving Heart's Day coming up on Thursday,
and start giving out. You don't need two eights. You
do not, you do not, you do not. After half
of the Big Game, accelmenty three? Okay, who was this Megan? Megan?

(39:12):
Are you interested in heading down to the Twin Cities
from Monster Jam? And yeah, I am. Well maybe we
can make this happen. Okay, did you watch the game
last night? The Super Bowl? Running the phones?

Speaker 2 (39:26):
No?

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Actually really?

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Okay, so you don't you have no comments on the
commercials at all? My question?

Speaker 5 (39:32):
We have no.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
We're looking at hand out a gold medal and then ah,
we didn't go I don't know, a suitcase full of poop.
It's National foop Day? So who wasted their money? But
you didn't watch? So let's just jump into the game,
shall we get the Okay? Okay, it's it's called super Bowl.
That's a fact. You didn't have to watch the game
to be decent at this. Just some interesting facts, some
are actual factual, some completely made up. Get three out

(39:55):
of five, right, and you're going to Monster Jam? You ready?

Speaker 5 (39:59):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (40:00):
All right? Number one, for the first three Super Bowls
in Miami, there were no tickets. Anyone could walk in
and sit anywhere they wanted free of charge. Is that
a fact? Yeah, nobody, That is not a fact. That
is okay?

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
The ticket prices for the first three Super Bowl games,
including nineteen sixty eight and sixty nine at the Orange Bowl,
were twelve bucks. Kind of even get a hot dog
for twelve bucks. I know you can't get a bear
at a sporting event for twelve bucks. Sorry, let's move on.
Let's let's move on here, Megan. Despite despite strong viewership

(40:38):
each year, no Super Bowl currently ranks in the list
of the top ten shows of all time most watched
things on TV? Fact? Is that a fact? Or am
I making it up?

Speaker 5 (40:49):
I think most watching here?

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Has it been in the top ten for most watched
things on TV? Top ten of all time? Any super Bowl?
I'm sure it has the top ten most washed American
TV programs of all time, nine of them are Super Bowls.
Super Bowl forty nine Seahawks Patriots most watched sporting events
in the US history, with over one hundred and fourteen

(41:12):
million viewers. So get back on them, everyone but me
that watches it. Everyone but mean Yeah, more toilets were
flushed in the US during the Super Bowl halftime show
than any other time in history. What's that's not a fact.

(41:32):
The water plants do prepare for more usage, but they
say the Super Bowl halftime doesn't surpass the normal weekend
night at eleven pm. All right, we need we need
the last one here. Super Bowl weekend is the slowest
weekend of the year for weddings. Is that a fact?

Speaker 2 (41:54):
You know? I actually heard something yesterday about having ready
are you the super Bowl? That's the thing now.

Speaker 7 (42:02):
I'm gonna pay house here.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
In the past, but maybe it's changing.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
Also, we're gonna go overall altogether the few that's the fact.
You're right, it is the slowest weekend of the year.
Monster Jim Winner, What station's proud to be your Monster
Jam Minneapolis Monday Connection.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
It's time for one more thing on Excel ninety three.
One more time, one more one more.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
Sticking on theme, here a few more sillier things that
were trending on Super Bowl Sunday before the game. A
reporter on Fox twenty nine Philadelphia was excited to announce
for the first time ever, comps in New Orleans greased
the poles on Bourbon Street. Philly does it to prevent
fans from climbing the street lights. The conspiracy crowd in

(43:00):
full force again. Hashtag rigged immediately started trending. After a
questionable call went against the Eagles in the first quarter,
people claimed the rafts were in the tank for Kansas City,
but then the Eagles crushed, so that got shut down
pretty quickly, and I think it was good. There's also
a similar call that when the Eagles favor soon thereafter.

(43:21):
Because I thought, here we go again. Three minutes into
the game offensive pass interference. Marstool Sports posted a roundup
of Eagles fans who couldn't spell Eagles and trending topic here.
Since the mayor of Philadelphias felt it wrong last month,
Eagles head coach, by the Way, Nick Sirianni's Sun got

(43:43):
it right. Photos of concession prices of the game were
all over social media to the made headlines were a
fifty nine dollars cocktail and one hundred dollars caprice crab
salad gets a slid at US sporting events. It's my
big question question. Perhaps they only had one to sell

(44:06):
Fox's Super Bowl score bug. It caught heat on mine.
People thought the graphic of the bottomless screen was boring,
like they'd used a free font or something. It kind
of looked like, I'm gonna say, like an eighties at
Turrey graphic, but sort of if you can remember that,
it became such a blow out, a lot of yours
just started paying attention to prompt bets. Here's how some

(44:27):
of the sillier ones played out heads or tails on
the coin toss was tails? Was Taylor Swift showing during
the national anthem? The answer was no. Did kendrith Omar
perform with a hat on? Yes? Did he mention Drake, Yes,
he knew he would. Gatorade bath color it was yellow?

(44:47):
And was there a tush push touchdown? Yes, there was,
I like last year. Some people also thought Travis Kelcey
would propose to Taylor in the field after the game.
He did not. I guess better luck next to your
tailor if you're listening on the iHeartRadio app. Tough to
do that after you'll lose though, Oh super Bowl nonsense,

(45:07):
grease pull, one hundred dollars, salads and hashtag rag dan.
It is close to panic time now that we're just
four sleeps away from Valentine's Day? What does one do
this year?

Speaker 7 (45:17):
Simple and striking, pure and eternal, refined and luxurious. It
makes a statement like nothing else. Celebrate your special love
and show it to all the world with the gift

(45:39):
of eggs. Whatever the occasion, dazzle her with eggs.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
I think we're about to start a radio show.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
It's quite down time to be mature.

Speaker 1 (45:52):
The Trever d in the Morning Show six to ten
weekday mornings, Excel ninety three
