Speaker 2 (00:27):
Summer's over, Summer's.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Over, Summer's over.

Speaker 2 (00:30):

Speaker 4 (00:46):
You can take a little look see xcelmighty three dot

flowing like wine. Russia. Shanna Day begins at sunset. National

no reason stop eating ice cream. National Girls' Night in
Day data relaxed. We charge spend quality time with your closest.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Friends and.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Happy National Elephant Appreciation day Data celebrates these gentle giants.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Bring your elephant to work.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Read last week that elephants have you see like bomb
sniffing drug sniffing dogs.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Elephants have twice.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
The power in their trunks sensories than dogs do. So
I'd like to see more elephants in airports. Well, let's
look at your forecast. I'll tell you about all the
winning coming up here. Patchy fog this morning, eighty today,
it got to seventy six yesterday mostly clear, fifty six tonight,
then tomorrow Sunday seventy eight, Wednesday Sunday seventy eight, and

(01:55):
for throwback Thursday Sunny, she'll be seventy eight again. A
little bit of fog right now now, kind of no
big whoop fog. And we're sitting at fifty four downtown
Grand Forks all week long. Last chance tickets to Cole

(02:38):
the way. In just a little bit, we'll get into
our question of the day. But first things first, Right,
here's what you missed.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Highline TV, the entertainment world and whatever. Here's what you
missed on Excel ninety three.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
So a laws just officially passed in Connecticut, and if
you want to marry your first cousin, you only have
about a week to do it before becomes illegal. Here
are some people in this day talking about.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
The brand new law.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Imagine a reporter coming up to you. Hey, come over here,
Can I put a mic onion in? Let's talk about
marrying first cousins. I mean, does the reporter think that, Oh,
I bet that guy's considered it before.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
It's pretty wild. I mean I would have never thought
about marrying my first cousin. It didn't really enter my mind.
But you know, hey, whatever float your boat. I did
get married, not to my cousin though last year by honey.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
It's just so wrong because of the birth defects.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
I think people love who they love and the government
should have no say in that.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Different strokes for different folks.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
But you know it's going to mess up to DNA
a little bit if you start mixing and crossing those wires.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Love when you can throw in a different strokes for
different quotes, then I screwed that up. Different strokes for
different folks.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Quote one state of banning first cousin marriages. I don't
think anyone's going to come to the town hall and oppose.
Maybe I shouldn't say that. Somebody's always upset about there's
always two signs. Any heated argument, there's there's going to

(04:17):
be somebody not pleased with that. But Connecticut's I know,
not down south, got about a week to marry. If
you're listening on the iHeartRadio app in Connecticut, your first cousins,
Let's let's talk about something else. I think we really
need to question of the day today. I wouldn't involved.

(04:39):
We only have so much time. Like I said earlier,
if not if, but when I win the lottery.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
I just like the freedom.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
I don't need a house sitting bigger than what we
live in now, maybe another dog, have.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
More time to spend at home with dogs.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
But it'd be nice just to be able to travel,
just be able to do things like decide, you know what,
I I want to go to a football game in
insert city here. I want to go see a concert there.
I want to go on vacation to this place. Just
fire it up a book. Who cares how much it
costs les now, I'm not talking about what you want

(05:15):
to do when you're in the lottery today. There are
still some things. Even if I had all the time,
all the money, I still wouldn't want to do no.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Matter what people tell you.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Question of the day today, what is something you're fine
missing out on?

Speaker 2 (05:27):
And it could be the smallest things.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
At Lista says, Honestly, I've never felt foam over skydiving.
I mean, why I jump out of a perfectly good
airplane Every time someone in gush is about the adrenaline rush.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I think, you know what else is a rush?

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Ground not speeding toward me. I'll stick to roller coasters,
thank you very much. I'll do the skydiving but for me,
I don't want to do the ten hour pre course.
That's the deal. Ain't nobody got time for that? I
think is the same strap me into a parachute and
have the guy shove me out and tell me what
cord to push. I know there's more to it. You've

(06:01):
got to do safety first, so I will most likely
not go sky to it. No matter what people tell you,
what is something you are fine on missing out? Jessica
just says going out. I like going out, but you
know how it goes as you get older. You like
to go out when.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
There's less people out. I don't know why.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
When we were twenty one, two, three, four, five years
old going out, you weren't happy unless the place was packed.
That seems ludicrous to me right now, eanks Helmutty three, Hey, well.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Hey, what's your name? I'm going Skyler? Skyler?

Speaker 4 (06:37):
No matter what people tell you, what is something you're
fine missing out on going out to the bar? That
is overwhelmingly the number one answer today? Right are the
bars empty?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Now?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
It seems to be everyone's answer.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I thanks, you're more busy now because the college.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
Students are bad.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
So just basically you're saying nobody I'm under twenty five
called me with that answer today.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Probably not again. I'm perfectly more than happy.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
If we walk into a bar and there's maybe two
other people in there.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's starting to get a little crowded. Yeah, Skyler, I
want to go to Lee Brice. Yes, all, you'll have
to enjoy the crowded shields are in and down in
Fargo Saturday night because I'm hooking you up, my friend.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Where are you at today?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I'm going to My answer was the bar, but I'm
going to the bar with my sister. It's her birthday
at this hour getting a breakfast trick.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, well, see, it shouldn't be very crowded.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
It's nine thirty in the morning, so good for you.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
I work overnight so I won't see her tonight, so
getting her a birthday drink early.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
That's a good brother. Well, cheers my friend. As we
roll ninety three minutes commercial free. What station's found to
be your Lee Bryce concert connection? That's ninety three Excel
many three. The forks of music stay gonna get you
into Parker McCollum, Maybe Lee Bryce, Shilzermine and Fargo coming
right up. Maybe some Nelson's pumpkin Patch passes. Got a

(08:07):
gift card to Palm Beach ten for you guys, do
a dinner in a movie option A lot of choices today.
Here's my question of the day. You know, there's those
people say, oh, TV shows, you need to watch this,
and which is fine if it's one season, seven episodes,

(08:28):
I can get to that. When I open something up
and it's fourteen seasons, I don't have twenty years too,
That's how long it's going to take me to get
through that. So but people do that for activities too,
like you need to We talked about skydiving.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Man, he says.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Marathons people wax poetic about the runners high and pushing
your limits. My limit is the distance between my couch
and the fridge. The only high he needs, reaching for
that last life of pizza without getting up at Netflix
binge watching marathon. Now that's a race I can win.

(09:07):
I'll say it again. Running is not enjoyable. People who
say I love a good run, it feels great after
there's nothing better for your cardio. But when it runs
in progress, yeah, it's it's miserable. It's good, but it's
a good feeling when you're done. I get why people
do it. I've done in my day ten k or.

(09:31):
I have Fargo Marathon a few times with some friends.
But Fargo Marathon with the little asterisk that we did
the relay, so four of you to the twenty six
point two miles, that's plenty, plenty of running. Question of
the day, No matter what if people tell you, what
is something, you just don't have time for?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Good morning, Heather, Fine, I'm missing out on going out
to the downtown club.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I like to go out too, but I like to
go out like four in the afternoon. Yeah, let's quiet.
What was wrong with us back the young whipper snapper era?
I think like being in your twenties. Yeah, you're disappointed
to walk in somewhere and there's nobody there.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
It's the best, Right Saturday, we'll go for.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Like a a couple of drinks and a meal between
lunch and dinner. When it's between it's after lunch, but
before dinner, it's fabulous.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Right.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Yeah. I think we're the normals. We don't need the crowd,
we don't need the people.

Speaker 8 (10:46):
As they say, Oh hell we do not. Yeah, what
are we doing? This season's wrong? It's trending in next
don xelnty three.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Good morning.

Speaker 9 (11:05):
Hi, good morning my caller number nine.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Hey, who is this? Stephanie.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Stephanie, No matter what people tell you, what's something you're
fine missing out on?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Honestly going to the bars downtown.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
And I know that lady just said that, but I
also said that before she said it.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
You know, I kind of like that. This is trending
then more and more or less you're annoyed when you
go somewhere in the concept of other people are out.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Oh yeah, well that and it's just a lot. There's
a lot going on down there.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Going out at say four in the afternoon, though it's pleasant,
sun's still up.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I mean for people who get off work early, yes,
that might be good. Party to the break of dusk.
Ooh absolutely not breaking the stigma there break a dusk,
So I mean like seven fifteen in the evening, you
can do that.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
I might be able to handle that one.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Hey, Stephanie, what do you want to do here?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I can get you to Cole Swindell this Saturday or
Lee Bryce the Saturday Cole at the Alaris Lee Bryce
at Shields Arena. Four passes of Nelson's pumpkin Patch got
a nice gift card to Palm Beach Tan for you,
or we could do go ahead.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
I definitely want to go to the Concertswindell.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
I definitely want to send it to Cole Swindell. So
let's do it.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Colstwindell ele Center five sleeps Yay, so excited. Stephanie Woods
Station is proud to be your concert connection.

Speaker 5 (12:43):
L ninety three am trending test tag trending on XL
ninety three.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Maybe I wrote this and I forgot first day fall
on the calendar. I've got my strong stance of summer
begins the Friday of Memorial Day, long weekend and ends
Labor Day. Monday is the last day of summer. So
I like this story going viral online. A guy claiming
falls started weeks ago. He said the seasons are all wrong.

(13:15):
Now he's proposing we redate all four season. Here's the breakdown.
Spring should start as soon as daylight saving kicks.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
In next year of March eighth.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
The extra sunlight means you've started spring regardless of how
cold it still is, and spring ends the first day
it's hot. Perhaps this guy doesn't participate in the Leprechaun
loop because for me, and that's the first day of Spring.
That's Saturday, right before Saint Patrick's Day, when thousands pour
into downtown Grand Forks is the official start of spring party.
But when we get the longer night time, that's a

(13:48):
good sign too for those who don't live in the
Grand Fort Seas Grand Forks in the surrounding community.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
So I'm okay with that Spring should start as soon
as daylight saving kicks in.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Summer starts around June first and stops August thirty first,
mostly because the never ending plague of summer's irks some,
so we should shorten it a bits. It's never too
hot for me, But he's basically on my same timeline.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
The Memorial Day through Labor Day deal.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Well, on September hits, it's fall, even if it's still
ninety five degrees. If leaves are falling, the NFL is
on TV, and your kids are back in school, so
it's fall. This whole wait till September twenty second thing
for summer to end is wrong, and I like this
one too. Winter begins Black Friday. It's already bleak outside,
bing Crosby's playing on the radio and you're setting up

(14:37):
the Christmas tree. Fall doesn't end on December twenty second,
it ends on Thanksgiving. Of course, if you live somewhere
like California, this is not for you, as you have
no idea what season looks season looks like. I don't
know why they have weather channels or people meteorologists in
California because this isn't always seventy two and sunny.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
If you live in the northeast, the dates would change.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
It would be a seven month winter, one week for fall,
one week for spring, the rest for summer. Some of
the comments here the seasons are based on the equinox
and solstice, But what do you think? Are the dates
all wrong? I kind of like this, we're doing the
seasons wrong. This is pretty good. So happy fall on
the calendar, even though it's been falls since the Tuesday
after Labor Day. Trending everything I shared with you Axcelnetti

(15:22):

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I bet you didn't know random facts coming at you now.
That's excel Letty.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
The game pong. It was never supposed to be released.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
A developer and Atari made it during a training exercise.
Ebaudatori's founder liked it so much they decided.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
To take it publish.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
You know the game pong is got your little flat
stick on one side of the screen, the other guys
got his on the other and bounced the ball back

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Pawn.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Well, that come out with seventy nine to eighty, one
of the first very first video games for Atari.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Betch did know.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
There have been persistent rumors that parts of the line
King and Pocahontas were animated in North Korea, but Disney has.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Always denied it.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Done. Dun, dunt, that's all I know how about that fact?
But I do know this back too, Direx Betch didn't know.
Direks created the first Latex condom back in the nineteen twenties,
first condom with lubricant in the nineteen fifties, the first
condom company website in nineteen ninety six. Dires all right,

(16:47):
excuse me, well I whipped this though. My geography minor
from the University of North Dakota comes.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
In so handy.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
The big lake they called get Chagumi Lake Superior. Betch
didn't know there's enough water and Lake Superior to cover
the entire ireland mass of both North and South America
to a depth of about twelve inches perspectives. That's a
lot of water, all.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Right, dudes.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
And I'm just talking to you guys here. Bet you
didn't know the correct word for a female dude. It
is not dude. It is not do dats. It's dude.
Dean U d d dean dudes and du Dean's. Now
you know, don't call female dudes dudes do deans. I

(17:36):
know I didn't know that either. Now I know too.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Let me put it this way. You're Monday morning.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
More on.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
A war has on, like Excel ninety three. Well, kids
these days.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Would usually appreciate a bus driver who who cooks, But
not like this, Not like this. Seventy five year old
bus driver in Pennsylvania named Harvey Silker facing chargers after
police said he threatened the children while he was driving
and punished them by cranking the heat. I mean, our

(18:11):
bus is normally smelly enough. Parents say their children got
up the bus crying and extremely sweaty. Harvey demanded that
the kids close all the windows and then turned the
heater on full blast. Now supposedly it was seventy four
degrees outside, but inside it was between ninety five and
one hundred degrees. He allegedly told the kids quote, I'm

(18:35):
going to cook you all, and I'm guessing he added,
am I'm going to cook you all, and also threaten
to bring the paddle the next day. Investigator say the
students were between the ages of five and twelve. Harvey
was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment and he
won't be driving for the district ever. Again unclear what

(18:57):
set him off in the first place or what he
thought the WLSANA would accomplish. As I mentioned, our buses
normally stinky enough, no ind occasion. Any of the kids
were seriously heart so that's the good news. Seventy five
year old school bus driver in Pennsylvania now facing charges
after police said he threatened the children and was driving
the children he was driving and punished them by cranking

(19:19):
the heat super high.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Driver also fired.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Seventy five year old harvey'sker from Pennsylvanians up with a
Monday morning moron or just a fourth trip to Pennsylvania
in twenty twenty five. I definitely not doing as well
as they did last year. I think they were a
third place overall for Morons in twenty twenty four. Maybe
you want to go to Cole Swindowl or perhaps Lee
Bryce coming to Shields Arena with his brother Lewis on

(19:46):
the line with me right now. Good morning, and good
morning Lewis. Good day. How are you, my friend?

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Oh man, life is good, the sun shining, the weather's nice.
I'm not at home about my little baby today.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
And yeah, congratulations on having a successful personal life and
of course successful musical life.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Yeah, man, it's been it's been. It's been real good.
It's been a it's a it's a fun journey with
the fun journey with having having a little baby, having
a little baby, and uh, i's got to get it
all worked out in this town how I suppose how
it's supposed to happen. But it's been en real great.
It's been real good, very much.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Looking for the forward to the show Spenmber twenty seventh
with Jackson Deane.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Of course you're bro, Lee Brice, Shields Arena, Fargo. How
do you have any any free time with the family life.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
With the tour?

Speaker 3 (20:40):
And I don't really get a whole lot of free
time literally the last war, but maybe maybe a week
ago I went down to me and my wife went
down to Charleston, South Carolina for like a We decided
to take a two day trip, and I can honestly
say that that was the first vacation that I've ever
been on maybe probably over over ten years that I
wasn't working on. So we don't get much free time,

(21:03):
but we run here. But most of the time I
got free I try and spend it with my little girls.
So other than that, Other than that, it's just the
music is if I'm if I'm in home during the week,
that's when I'm writing, kind of writing for everything, trying
to getting new music out there, and then the weekend
we're out touring.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
So I love the forard, love the uniqueness of your
music and going back to your influences being really all
over the place, but right through now till today and
all the different self has influenced you.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I've had so many different I mean growing up, you know,
you know I grew up you know, Southern gospel and
church and things and stuff like that, and you know,
groups like the Gold City and Cathedrals Quartet, the Gathers
and that's what kind of grew up listening to. But
then you know, we got to the country world bank
back whenever I was listening country music, we're first coming up,
it was your Garth Brooks, it was your Randy Travis,
you know, the good ones right there. And so I

(21:57):
just all through there. And then you know, I think
around kind of my college of years, I started kind
of getting to move. I moved down to Charleston, South
Carolina for a couple of years, and uh, and that
kind of got me into a little bit of rock
and roll, and that's where I really kind of found
of love, even a deeper love for music, I think.
And and I went and saw a band called Fuel
one time. If you ever heard.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Of that, Oh I love Hemorrhage. That's one of my
favorite in the last couple of decades.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Matter matter of fact, that hemorrhage is my is my
my That was one of my first rock and roll
songs I ever learned how to play. And it was
by them, and I heard them play it live one time,
and that I think whenever I saw them play that
song and play that play there showed loud. I was like,
you know what, that's what I was started to do,
so that kind of that kind of was a turn
in my in My big influence wise was full uh so,

(22:40):
but yeah, Hemorrhage was it was one of my I
played that in my set every once in a while,
and that's one of my favorite songs of there. But
you just keep on playing for it. From there, I
just kind of found my way in my music. And
you know, it's just naturally. I'm from south to South Carolina,
so it's just country as a bumpkin. When I got rocking,
I got rock and roll, my soul, and there's a
lot and the South here a lot of music. Tones,
got a lot bluesy kind of things, and they all

(23:01):
soow for stuff. So that's kind of a it's kind
of all over. But whenever you hear it, it's it
makes sense.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
No, that's I mean, that's fantastic. I don't want to
say there's so many people. I think it's there's fewer
and fewer people now are just kind of the one
trick pony do nothing but one solid, strict one genre.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
It's so fun to hear the different stuff.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Well, thank you man, thank you to me. It's like, yeah,
when I put on a record or something like that.
I want to build a I kind of want to
be taking a little journey. I don't I'd rather not
listen to one whole long song. I'd rather just listen
to a whole bunch of songs kind of taking me
on a little journey. So that's kind of where I
think about when it comes to music. When I'm writing
stuff like that, I'm trying to write music that you know,
I already know how to write about it, and stuff

(23:43):
kind of about me. But also I try and take
the stories of mine and I have maybe kind of
up other people and little through later might need to
hear something like that and stuff. That's kind of where
our music kind of comes from.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Lewis Bryce with with Big Bro Lee at Shieldsman and Infario

home we're both you know, family focused and everything and
both working hard. I mean, Lee's one of the hardest
working men in this business. He's he ain't again if
he ain't playing, he's writing and producing other acts are

(24:42):
right now. He just he doesn't really stop. And so
but like it. We have a couple of good, good
good dove hunts. We had a good week the other
week and now that was a good time. We get
to hang out. Then we'll have like a big haul
cooking everywhere every year and we've got to hang out
and take during hunt season, and we'll do this season.
We're a part of the next couple weeknds to slow down,
we'll we'll get and generally kind of our time slowed

small little home wall of fluffs, run here dost we
