Speaker 3 (00:36):
I don't be a godspolder, Ladies and gentlemen, right in
ball of the Gospel defender ministries speaking in God. The
message that you are about to hear will encourage and
equip for all who have ears to hear to be
(00:59):
Christs clothes with the armor of a gospel defender.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
A surrey.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Surrey idleways a God, Ladies and gentlemen, this is a
message about five things you cannot do without if you
want to go to heaven.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Most of us live in a world of plenty of stuff.
Of course, there are many among us who are not
satisfied with the plenty of stuff they have. They want
even more stuff. We Americans are like a Thanksgiving turkey
all year long. We are full of stuffing. Even Christians
(02:02):
who should know better have fallen into this trap of
getting more stuff. We would know better if we knew
the Bible better. Three scriptures come to mind when we
think about this. Jesus said in Luke twelve, verse fifteen,
take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does
(02:22):
not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.
And then he said in Mark eight, verse thirty six,
for what will it profit a man if he gains
the whole world and loses his own soul. Apostle Paul
wrote to the Church of Christ and PHILIPPI, I have learned,
in whatever state I am, to be content. I know
(02:44):
how to be abased, and I know how to abound.
Everywhere and in all things. I have learned both to
be full and to be hungry, both to abound and
to suffer need. If only people living in the fifty
states of amer could learn to be content in the
state they live, what a difference this would make in
(03:07):
the Church. If people could only learn how to do
with less stuff, the Church might be able to do
more stuff and make more of an impact on a
world that is drowning in so much stuff that it
has no time to prepare for the great and notable
day of judgment. Ladies and gentlemen, here is a shocking truth.
(03:30):
You can actually enter heaven without ever owning a smartphone,
an iPad, a touchscreen computer, a widescreen television, or even
one single solitary video game. As a matter of fact,
for a whole lot of people, heaven would be much
more obtainable if none of these things were owned. These
(03:53):
things are hindrances obstacles to the salvation of some people.
People don't own their stuff, their stuff owns them. But
with all of this being said, this message is about
some things that you simply cannot do without if you
ever hope to enter Heaven's doors. There are some things
(04:16):
that you simply cannot do without if you have any
hope to see and to be in the presence of
the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of
the world. For one thing, you simply cannot enter Heaven's
doors without a preacher. Now I know that for some
(04:36):
people this is a controversial statement, But what I am
telling you is the truth. The Bible says so in
Romans ten, verse fourteen. How then shall they call on
him and whom they have not believed? And how shall
they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear without a preacher? Paul says
(05:01):
no one can believe in Jesus if they have never
heard of Jesus. And then he asked, how shall they
hear without a preacher? Since most of us believe that
you can't enter Heaven's doors without believing in Jesus, and
since Paul says no one can hear about Jesus without
(05:21):
a preacher, there should be no argument about any of this.
There are those you believe they will go through the
pearly gates without a preacher. But who is right? Those
who believe something that the Bible doesn't say, or the
Bible I can hear the objections of some right now,
(05:42):
What about the man stranded on an island? Are you
telling me that, because there is no preacher out there
in the middle of the ocean, that that man is
going to hell? My answer to that question is the
same as my answer for the man who is out
in the middle of a desert where there is no
water in which to be immersed for the remission of sins.
(06:05):
The man stranded on the island had opportunities to hear
the word of God before he ever ended up in
the middle of the ocean, and the man in the
middle of the desert had opportunities to be immersed into
Christ before he got stuck out there. The man on
the island and the man in the middle of a
(06:27):
desert have nothing to do with what the Word of
God says. It is amazing to me how these imaginary
men on their imaginary island and in their imaginary desert
have the power to change the Word of God into
the figment of some people's imagination. The fact is, no
(06:50):
one will go through Heaven's gates unless he believes in Jesus,
and he will not believe in Jesus without a preacher.
There are preachers like me. You can listen to me
bring the good news about Jesus, or you can choose
not to listen to me, since very few have listened
to me over the years. How about listening to Matthew, Mark, Luke,
(07:14):
and John? What about those four preachers? Will anyone listen
to them? Each of them wrote an account of the
Gospel of Jesus. Their books are sermons. Will anyone listen
to them and then obey them? What in the world
are those books for? Just fillers between the books of
(07:37):
Malachi and Acts. John said his book was written that
you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that believing you may have life in
His name. Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote their books for
the same reason, to lead people to a saving faith
(07:57):
in Christ. People may not have access to a flesh
and blood preacher, but when they sit down and read
the New Testament Word of God, they are reading and
hearing the words of a preacher. If they have any
kind of a mallible heart at all, they will leave
those New Testament books convinced that Jesus is the Christ,
(08:21):
the son of a living God. On this matter of
needing a preacher to enter heaven, a person can agree
or not agree, but the Bible says you won't get
there without a preacher. The preacher may be living, the
preacher may be dead, but you need a preacher. And
(08:42):
then another fact is that none of us will get
through the gates of Heaven without the shedding of blood.
This thought is very repulsive to some. Let's face it,
just about anything having to do with spiritual matters is
repulsive to most of the world, sometimes even to some
(09:05):
in the Church. So we need to be less concerned
with what is repulsive to the degenerate and the unregenerate
and more concerned with what the Bible says. Speaking of
the Bible, here is what is written in Hebrews nine,
verse twenty two. Without shedding of blood, there is no remission.
(09:29):
There is no remission of sins without shedding of blood.
Who in their right mind who knows the Bible believes
that anyone is going to be present at the throne
of God without their sins forgiven? On second thought, there
are plenty of people who are not in their right mind.
(09:51):
But for those who are, we thank God for Jesus
shedding his blood at Calvary's Cross. Referring to the cup
of the Lord's Supper in Matthew twenty six, verse twenty eight,
Jesus said, this is my blood of the New Covenant,
which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
(10:13):
Since we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, we know that we have
been forgiven by His blood of the New Covenant. Preacher
Peter preached this on the Day of Acts to Pentecost
in Acts two, verse thirty eight. Preacher Paul preached this
to the Church of Christ in Ephesus in Ephesians one seven.
(10:38):
In him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness
of sins. Of course, denominationalists do not believe this, and
so they have chosen not to be baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. If
they are baptized at all, it is for some reason
(11:00):
not stated in the scriptures. And since they seek the
remission of sins without doing what the Bible says is
necessary to do for salvation, they have no remission of sins.
This is one thing you cannot do without if you
want to go through Heaven's gates, the remission of sins. Now,
(11:24):
I must admit that these first two without present no
personal problem for me. But this next one I would
just as soon do without. But I can't if I
want to be with God for all eternity, and I
do so since I want to be with Him for
(11:44):
all eternity, I cannot do without chastisement. As much as
I would like to be with Christ in eternity without chastisement,
the Bible says this is not possible. It is written
in Hebrews twelve, verse eight. But if you are without
(12:04):
chastening of which all have become partakers, then you are
illegitimate and not sons. What makes this important is what
Paul wrote before this, in verses five and six. My son,
do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be
(12:25):
discouraged when you are rebuked by him. For whom the
Lord loves, he chastens and scourges every son whom he receives.
I don't know about you, but I really do not
look forward to receiving God's chastisement as proof that he
loves me. But when I consider what the Bible says
about it, I know that I must receive it. It
(12:49):
is for my good, it is for my benefit. It
proves that I am a son of God. It proves
that God has received me, accepted me, and adopted me
as one of his. Without it, I would not be
loved by him, and I would not be his son.
(13:10):
So Lord, bringing on, and I'll try not to cry.
Perhaps you may think you have never received God's chastisement
and may be worried about whether or not you are
really one of God's children. Think about this for a moment.
In eternity. Many of us may be informed the many
(13:33):
times God was ready to bless us materially or otherwise,
but he couldn't because of the way we lived, so
he chastised us by withholding those blessings. Many of us
may be informed of the many times God was ready
to use us in a spectacular way, but he couldn't
(13:56):
because of the way we lived, so he chastised us
by closing doors of opportunity. Perhaps the Lord chastens many
of us not by what he does to us, but
by what he doesn't do for us because of us.
(14:21):
Just a few verses later, in this same chapter of
Hebrews twelve, we are told there is one more thing
that we cannot do without. If we hope to live
in eternity with Christ, we will not be there without holiness.
It is written in Hebrews twelve, verse fourteen, pursue peace
(14:43):
with all people, and holiness, without which no one will
see the Lord. Most people expect to see him and
be with him, but without holiness it is nothing more
than a pipe dream. Holiness is one of those spiritual
curse words. Holiness is for those weird, far out religious
(15:08):
groups that have strange hairdoes strange clothes, and strange habits.
Holiness is for those who lived in the dark ages,
the times of the Pilgrims and the Puritans. How dare
the church preach holiness in this age of enlightenment, But
(15:29):
Hebrews twelve fourteen is still there. Without holiness, no one
will see the Lord. No one will go to Heaven,
taking with them their poornography, dope, significant others, or the
fruit of the flesh that is catalogued in Galatians chapter
five adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,
(16:00):
outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries,
and the like. That list wasn't put there by any preacher.
It was put there by God, the Holy Spirit. Without holiness,
(16:22):
you will be outside the portals of Heaven and deep
down inside the bottomless hole of hell. Now I know
that preaching holiness won't win many to Christ, and it
will run some in the church away. But without it,
no one will be received into Heaven. I know the
(16:46):
Church is supposed to act like all the children of
the members are all right, no matter what they do,
no matter what they say, No matter how they dress
and no matter how they act. I know that, and
I know that preaching like this is not popular and
(17:07):
will never grow a big church. I know that. But
I also know that being popular with the people, being
liked by the lukewarmers, being dear to the doc triningly defunct,
and being a pal to the unrepentant isn't going to
get this preacher into heaven either. Just like you, I
(17:30):
must be holy or go to Hell with a whole
lot of other people. And frankly, I just do not
want to do that. By God's grace, I refuse to
walk the wide broad road most people are traveling. I
know that sounds horrible. I know that sounds high and mighty.
(17:54):
I know that sounds hellish. I know that sounds hateful,
But beloved, Hell is horrid. Hell is horrifying. Hell will
be filled with unholy people. I would to God that
the lost would go to Heaven with me and the church,
(18:14):
but without holiness they won't. Finally, before this message is ended,
I want you to know that you and I will
never go to heaven without Jesus. Many are the scriptures
that teach us that unless we go to heaven with Jesus,
we will not go at all. One time, Jesus said,
(18:37):
I am the Way, the Truth, and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through Me. Then he
made this statement to his apostles in John fifteen, verse five.
Without me, you can do nothing. If an apostle of
(18:59):
Jesus Christ could not get to the Father without Jesus,
and if an apostle could do nothing without Jesus, where
does that leave you and me? After all, those apostles
were personally handpicked by Jesus, personally taught by Jesus, and
(19:23):
personally commissioned by Jesus. They personally witnessed the life and
ministry of Jesus. If they could not see the Father
without Jesus and could do nothing without Jesus, what does
that say about us. We may be multi talented, with
(19:48):
many educational degrees and lots of money and personal life
experiences in the Kingdom of God, but without Jesus we
are nobody's going nowhere, at least nowhere close to the Father.
(20:09):
Your life and my life have significance only so far
as they are in Christ. Jesus. If it is true
that I can do all things through Christ, and it
is what can I do without Christ, Nothing, Nothing of
(20:31):
any eternal significance, nothing of any eternal importance. I do
not deny that there are many things that you can
do without Jesus. You can sin as a sinner, you
can be unfaithful as a Christian. You can do a
lot of things, but you will do those things without Jesus.
(20:56):
You can even do some things that are not so
bad in themselves else But you can do nothing of
any spiritual consequence or importance without him. But come to
think of it, that is why people go to hell,
isn't it. They do nothing. They do not believe in Christ.
(21:17):
They do not repent of their sins, they do not
confess their faith in Christ. They do not submit to
immersion in water for the remission of sins. They do
not live faithful Christian lives. They do absolutely nothing as
far as preparing for eternity. Like Jesus said, without me,
(21:41):
you can do nothing, So go ahead and do nothing.
You don't need Jesus to do that. But if you
want to do something that will have eternal benefit for
yourself or for others, you can't do it without Jesus.
If you really want to do something spectacular and wonderful
(22:04):
go to heaven, and if you do, it will not
be without Jesus. So how can I close this message?
What more can I say? What can I add to
convince you that there are certain things that you cannot
do without if you want to go to heaven. As
I sit here in front of this microphone pondering the
(22:27):
potential audience who may hear these words, I find myself
without anything else to say at this time except what
is written at the end of the book. Blessed are
those who do His commandments, that they may have the
ride to the Tree of Life and may enter through
the gates into the city. For without are dogs and sorcerers,
(22:51):
and sexually immoral, and murderers and liars, and whoever loves
and practices a lie. Ladies and gentlemen. You do not
have to be without. You can be within if you
will repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and walk faithfully with

Christ until death.
