You say?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
And it's also Groundhog's Day.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah, and the dude saw no shadow? Yeah spring the
early Spring. I don't know what. I don't know why
he saw. I always see early Spring on my birthday.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
And I don't know which ones which, but we have
an early Spring.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
What's his name?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Punk? Satni Phil? What punks? A tani Phil?
Speaker 2 (02:29):
And how old? How old is this dude? Does he
ever die?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
The groundhog?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
No, he does not ever die. He's he's immortal.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
And now is he the same dude in Caddyshack or
is a different one?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I think it's a different I think it's a whole
different animal. Oh yeah, I think they look alike. Hey,
before we go, before we move on, before we do anything,
we have to have pause for a moment of silence
for the great Apollo Creed. We passed, Hey, I mean,
and we have affirmed that it was not Drago who
(03:01):
knocked him dead in.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
The you know what, we like like in the movie.
He died a long time ago. I know, so now,
but now the real what's his name?
Speaker 1 (03:08):
What's his Carl Weathers he was also doing he was
he was the guy that I can see hanging with
the with the fork and with the fork in his
thro and he was also what was the other movie
with the Arnold's Predator. Yeah, so I feel bad. So
it's a bittersweet day. We're celebrating your birthday, but also
we're celebrating the passing of Apollo Creeds.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
I shared I share birthday and death day with with
some you.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Do so anyway, So we are celebrating your birthday after
Actually we're at four in the row now.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
And I like our black two wins man because ugly
winds also count exactly as long as you add on
the right column.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
It's good.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
And I think we faced two teams that have nothing
to lose that we all of a sudden with the
with the five time All Star and Eastern Friends play
of the Month doing this thing right, We have kind
of like a target in that if those guys that
are really good want to beat the crop out of us,
(04:09):
those guys that are in the middle of the road
want to beat the crop out of us, and those
guys that have nothing to lose, want to beat us
because they want to have they want to have like
a medal in their season. And we have another one
coming up tomorrow against a team that gave a single
digit wins.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
And you know so, and you brought up a good
point about winning ugly and that the mark of a
good team I always say is can you win games
when you're not at your best. And they haven't been
at their best is lest they've been trying to reincorporate
guys into the lineup, so they haven't been at their best.
So beating winning games ugly is important. And also the Cavs,
I believe, I'm not sure if it's eighteen and two
(04:48):
or nineteen and two league best against teams under five hundred,
which is a big thing because it means you're focused
for games. You don't take games off because again, the
teams can can get you.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Do you know what?
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Then a lot was said during this street in January
that the Cavs were just beating teams, But guess what
those are? The double is that you have to have
so you're doing you're doing what you're supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Right, we have, like like you said, at.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
And two against teams that have a losing record. And
we have on paper the easiest schedule in the month
of February, including the week off in the All Star breaks,
and we have two games against Philadelphia that is going
to be probably with a Joel m bid for a
little bit. We have two games against against Washington, but
(05:34):
that I think that is the type of game that
also tests what these guys are made of, because those
are the games that you really got to bring your
head together, and and and and and it is the
human nature to over to underestimate, to oversee, to look ahead,
and and that's why we have a good coaching staff
that it's going to make sure that these guys are
(05:55):
going to come in. And my my thing, you know,
every every game in my broadcast, I have we have
the Rocket Mortgage momento, patter far the moment of success
of Rocket Mortgage. And I always say that when we
play teams like Detroit, like Washington, s Antonio, like Memphis
like those are teams that you gotta take out the
will or any they have, if not early by midway
(06:19):
and the third quarter, you want to have this guy
because one of the things this type of teams do
is quick when they see it again, like here we
go again, right, Yeah, So the last couple of games,
we have left these guys hanging around with any we
hopes so that they can actually pull off the victory,
and we have been able to put it together and
take it off. So I think these are also good
(06:40):
tests mentally and physically for the guys to make sure
that they come out and do what the paper says,
because on paper is boring, right, that's why you play
the game. But on paper we are a better team
than San Antonio, even we went by Yama on the roster, right.
So as much as we love our friend jet Thro,
you know tomorrow we have to go.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
I don't take care of business.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
You're right, and you know it's it's It sounds like
an easy thing when you say, well, you beat these
sub five hundred teams, but you and I have both
been in with finals teams that struggle against bad teams
for that same reason and that you're underestimated, you don't
get up for it. Look at what.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I don't want to say, the Lakers, but with Braun
and Anthony David is the best team in the NBA
at home right, Well, on defeat it just recently, right,
that's only I think that. I believe it's only the
second home loss, third third loss. But you know, yeah,
a team without the two starters coming and to you
right right, and you got the full squad.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
We've got the three big guys, the four big guys play.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
So yeah, so yeah, I mean again, the coaching staff
has these guys ready to play, and they'll be ready
to play when they take on the Spurs on Saturday night.
One guy that is always ready to play and he's
ready to do just about anything is George Mikros, who'll
be our guest. I've been I've been waiting to have
(08:04):
him on all year. I want to say him. I
know I've been saying you.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
Would say, and I think it is the perfect time
we can actually sit down with him and just spend
the whole show with him, because that's what we didn't
want to.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
We didn't want to have him where there was not
much to talk about.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
We want to, we want to.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
It was like, you know, after practice when we usually
do it, but it's like five ten minutes and go bye.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Now.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
In San Antonio, lounging on my birthday day off at
the two double dules and those weird home and those
weird home and away back to back then.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
I don't know why they feel different.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
I don't know, but I maybe I'm in the minority.
But I love back to backs. I love back to
backs because you are a day off. There is no
argument about your day off after I guess so, but
I don't know. Man, is it nice to be in
San Antonio. I'm gonna go as soon as we're done,
I'm gonna get in my underwear and go and watch
Rocky marathons. It's nice. I love a day off. It's
(08:56):
pretty sweet. But I and it's your birthday, so yeah.
For shoot around tomorrow morning, we expect Rapha to be
bleary eyed and clueless, and maybe he'll be at a
pizza parlor the night at two o'clock in the morning,
I don't want a window with.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
I gotta start scouting where the pizza place is and
how lady stays open, because I don't want to have
to be knocking like a like a zombie. You know
the movie, h what was the movie with with Will
Smith when he's in New York I'm legend or something
like that, when he had those dudes living inside turn out.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
That's me. When it's that's me coming out of the bar.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
And we're also at Riverwalk, we don't watch. We have
to put a little floatinges on your arms.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
This is not one of my favorite cities by ways.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Not I love. I love San Antonio. I love the Alamo,
the big version of.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
The and the two cities that I'm not my favorites
and the one that I always end up stuck with.
Usually they hold here either super Bowl, no super Bowl,
but like Final four, so I'm here like a whole week.
And war Leans is another.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Cety with this place.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
I don't like the food. I don't like the food.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
I don't like the whole I feel like I'm in
somebody's and I like, I mean my horse, and like
I don't know, I just I never I never been
a fan of San Antonio. Need you what like I need?
I feel like I need. I want to go out
and get on a horse and go somewhere like you know.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
And it's a nice arty party hotel, which you know
I love. This is Archie Farst. This is arty, partsy.
There's all kinds of Archie party down in the lobby.
There's a brochure in your room checking out.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Die, I'll tell you to watch the Farsi in New
York and in Miami if you want.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
But trust me, go look at the brochure in your room.
I haven't even checked my room for a B day,
but I bet there's the of that too. No, no, no, well,
I take everything back.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
I don't think that crow will be attached to every day.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
So anyway, we're going to be back with George Nyang.
I'm really looking forward to it. I mean, and I
first of all, he's the funniest dude in the end,
but i'd like to du exactly. He's a good dude.
And and you know again he's funny as hell, but
you don't want to treat him like a minstrul that
he's just funny. I mean, the guy has a really
great outlook on the NBA and he really smart, smart dude. So, uh,
(11:14):
we're going to have him on right after a break,
and we'll continue with Ralph's birthday celebration.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
How did you birthday?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
To me?
Speaker 1 (11:24):
All right, this is Dean Wade and I never listened
to Wine and Gold Radio. There's more of this. Give
me how come Quickie on w h K, How Come
Bill Belichick coaches like, yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
After this on Wine and Gold Radio.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Wonder just take light about that senter too.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Upon this battlement in eighteen thirty six, two hundred Texas volunteers,
including such heroes as Davy Crockett, Bill Travis, and Jim Booey,
fought off an onslaught of four thousand Mexican troops under
the command of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. At
this time, I'd like to conclude our tour, and I
mean it, y'all have been one of the greatest gripts
(12:55):
I have ever worked with. Really, Okay, are there any questions?
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yes, where's the basement?
Speaker 7 (13:02):
Excuse me, aren't we going to see the basement? There's
at the Alamo.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
To one in Gold Radio.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
My goodness, okay, everybody, and welcome back to segment two
of Wine and Gold Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
It's a major episode, major.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Major episode because not only is it the Fernandez Brito
Birthday Spectacular, but we have a guest on that we've
been talking about all year and we've been saving him.
We've been saving him and like I'm so I'm so excited.
George and Yang, George Yang. We were working out before
we got on the air. How to pronounce it anymore? Okay,
George and Yang George, welcome to the show Man. Thank
(13:45):
you so much for joining us.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Appreciate you guys calling me out of the bullpen. It's
about that.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Well, it's like a day First of all, I don't
think we're gonna do this because it's a day off
here in San Antonio after back to back wins, and
I figured maybe you just want to lay in bed
and watch the Rocky Marathon what I was doing. And
definitely they have one, because I wonder, but did you
know that?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
No?
Speaker 8 (14:05):
I didn't, but you know I did play in Philly
and Rocky as like a national hero there.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
So okay, and you know, did you hear the tragic
news today passed? No, No, Apollo Creed. Apollo Creed, and
it wasn't Drago. I mean, hey, thinking I don't know
what he don't. I don't think it was you guys,
But also like, uh, like I don't. I'm sad he died,
but I'm almost happy that he still looked really cool.
(14:33):
I mean, Apollo Creed never got old and decrepit. He
died as a cool old Apollo Creed.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
So it was a good guy.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah he lost so any anyway, George, thanks so much
for joining us. It's Roba's birthday spectacular. We're gonna spank
him after the show. I don't know if you're up
for that. That's happening. Uh. I'm so glad to have
you on because when when I go home after a
road trip, I always tell my buddies my family, I'm like, man, George,
dang is so great. I'm so glad we have him.
And they're like, what's so great about? What about him?
(15:00):
I'm like, you don't know. And people just don't get
the full experience of my personality.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
I got to show off a little bit, all right.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Well, they just think you're just a normal dude. A
normal dude.
Speaker 8 (15:09):
I feel like I connect with other people because they
can like see me on the court and like I
don't look like a professional athlete, so like, wait, like
I have a chance. If he can do it, I
can do it. You can play like a yeah, you
know that's one, but looking looking the part is half
the battle too.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah, and you have a unique, obviously unique playing style
in today's game, and that you know with analytics, you
know it's all about the three point shot. Things like that,
pushing the ball and like you have the nice mid
range game, you have the push shot, you have all
that stuff.
Speaker 8 (15:37):
Ground travel. I don't drive too high, so it's saved
my life. Let's go back to you. Originally from somewhere
around Boston. Yeahthuwa, Massachusetts?
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Are you are you? Were you a Celtics fan? Bro
I did. I went to school at b you and
I was a Celtics fan.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Victoria Calves started signing me to two week contracts everywhere. Yeah,
and then my love for the Celtics ended. But how
old were you when you started playing bowl? And at
what point did you realize you you had something in there? Uh?
Speaker 8 (16:08):
You know, I started playing probably when I was like
six years old. Oh really, my dad was in the
military and he had come home from a deployment and
h he was in my neighbor's yard and he was
like dunking, and I was thought it was like amazing,
because you know, I was like, mom, my dad could
be in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Look at him like dunking a little. Did I know?
The hoop was like seven and a half.
Speaker 8 (16:30):
So you know, that's kind of when I found my
interest for it, and you know, kind of was obsessed
with like the sound of the ball and how it
hit off the rim and yeah, I went through the hoop. Yeah,
you know, and then you hear the talks of you know,
Larry Bird and all that. So I played a lot
of sports when I was growing I did ice hockey.
If if I can find the picture I send you, guys,
could I did everything? Ice hockey, soccer, basketball, football, you know, wrestling,
(16:54):
you name it. I tried it, and you know, my
mom was like super mom, driving me all over the place.
And then you know, it kind of became serious when
I was like twelve or thirteen years old, or I
was deciding where I was going to go to high school.
And you know, I was lucky enough that, you know,
my family, you know, pitched in enough money to send
me to a private school where I was just going
for academics because I don't know if you know that,
(17:16):
uh I had. I wasn't the greatest in school, to
say the least, So I my parents wanted to get
me into smaller classrooms, and so I ended up going
to a private school. And that's kind of when it
like took off. You know, I was a boarding school also,
so I was constantly focused on, you know, doing things
for me away from from home, and so school was
taken care of and then basketball kind of just took off.
(17:38):
I grew like three four inches going into my sophomore year,
and that's when I was like, Ah, maybe I can
go to a Division I college and have it taken
care of it. And then I was like, oh, maybe
I can go Division one. And then when I went
to Division one, I'm like, Okay, maybe I can, you know,
be a starter. And then my junior year, I was
kind of like, oh, people are talking about you going
to the NBA, and I was like, what you know,
And from there on out it kind of just played
(18:00):
itself out. And I just think people need to understand
in life, there's going to be roadblocks, but just continue
to put your head down and take it one day
at a time. There's gonna be days that you feel like,
I don't know if this is cut out for me,
but you know, if you can just keep your head
down and keep pushing and fight through, I promise you
at the end of the tunnel, you look back and
it'll all be worth it.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Has your game always been kind of similar as your
game and your personality always been similar, like on the floor.
Speaker 8 (18:26):
A big body, big personality, big game. Yeah, you know,
I think the biggest thing for me is I was
a low post player growing up and in high school.
I had to realize when I started playing with more
athletic players that I wanted to score, I may have
to start shooting from further away. So once I started,
you know, figuring out the three point line wasn't out
there for decoration, I started playing a little bit more.
(18:50):
But yeah, my game's kind of been similar. Obviously, it's
different in the NBA, you know, the length of size,
the athleticism. You kind of have to find your niche
of where you can fit in. And I've kind of
a justed to that everywhere I've been, Utah, Philly here,
So it's it's kind of the same but kind of different,
you know. But at the same time, I think basketball
is such a beautiful game that you can figure out
(19:11):
ways and so many different avenues to make yourself valuable
in the court.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Your father was born and raised in Senegal, Yes, West Africa.
Where was he.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
A little bit pushing that soccer side on you, I know,
big time, especially when they were able to go to
the World Cup. And beat fans and actually play, you know,
play the friend because most of the time it was
like them playing for the for the French team.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
So yeah, yeah, I know.
Speaker 8 (19:38):
The soccer was huge when I was growing up. Actually,
I remember, you know, when I was younger. You know,
my dad was so into soccer, was always watching it,
trying to have me watch it. But when I was younger,
there was no real score. There's not a lot of
scoring in soccer, so it was never really exciting for me,
you know, that instant gratification with this generation. So I
remember my dad, me and him and went out and
(20:01):
bought a lottery ticket. He was like, son, we're gonna
win like this. So I go to bed that night
and I guess the World Cup was happening, and you
know foreigners, you know, they're up late on every channel
getting it. I want to was it when was the
World Cup they had here? Or no, it was Senegal
was playing. I think it was Sweden. Yeah eight, No, no, no,
(20:24):
it was it was I was born. It was it
was like four eight or one of those, but I
don't remember.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Jeremany six. Yeah, don't don't quiz me on this. Yeah,
it was late.
Speaker 8 (20:35):
It was late at night and I remember we had
played the lot He was like, we're going to win,
and it was like two in the morning, and I
hear him screaming as like I ran down the stairs
thinking that we won the lottery, and he was just
about Senegal winning.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
So I thought my life was changing.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
But that's awesome. Talk about you your journey with Cleveland.
How did you choose Cleveland? What did you know about
Cleveland and the Cavaliers before you came aboard.
Speaker 8 (21:08):
I mean, I think it goes without being said. I mean, obviously,
the greatest to play the game is put on a
Cavaliers journey in Lebron James. So obviously there's a lot
to know about Cleveland, right. You know, hard nos, working class,
blue collar people that are here, and they support their
sports teams, that's one thing for sure, and they expect
(21:32):
nothing less than you to give extreme effort, you know,
while you're out there, and to win, which I can
appreciate because you know, I don't think they see all
the work that we put in behind closed doors, but
you do all that to be appreciated and play in
front of people that care, and they really do care,
and I appreciate that. But you know, I think the
coolest thing with my journey to Cleveland is that, you know,
(21:55):
I wanted to come here. It wasn't like, oh, this
was just you know.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
You ended up here.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
Yeah, this is a place that I kind of sought
after with you know, their need for shooting and veterans
and older guys and what the young time said this before,
with the young talent that they have and the core
building it up like this was kind of like a
perfect fit for me, right, you know, the city kind
of fits everything that I embody. But then again, the
organization is top notch, and then the cores, young core
(22:23):
that they have, you know, has me believing that, you know,
we're going to be good for a long time, and
I want to be playing for championships and winning, you know,
for a long time.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
So that's why I.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
Wanted a long term deal to be here. And uh,
it's been great. I've enjoyed every second of it.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
You mentioned you wanted to be here, and Kobe Oleman
our personal basketball Operations, always said that that's one of
the three things that he looks for when he when
he's trying to put the pieces together. He's like, you know,
you want to want to be in Cleveland. Is that
something that you sense when you came here because you know,
most of the time you find teams when they're going
through the rebuilding process or in kicking the case. You know,
when Kobe was like a mass in assets to be
(23:01):
able to make the move that we needed to make.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
You end up with guys that either end up here.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
By trade or by default or that's something that makes
a big difference.
Speaker 8 (23:12):
Where it's just a landing spot rather than home. Yeah,
but it's something that we're building. Yeah, No, for sure.
And you know when I talked to Kobe, Kobe after
you know, the deal had been done, it was, you know,
kind of one of those things where it's just like,
you know, I think we both have the same vision
of like where we kind of want this thing to be.
(23:35):
And I think, you know, with his ability to identify
talent and what he needs on his roster, not just
getting anything, but the things that he needs, and that
was you know, veterans and older guys and you know, shooting.
It's exciting to be on the same page as someone
that's you know, kind of running the show, right because
that's not how it is, That's not how it always
(23:56):
is like you mentioned, you get traded here and they're like, hey,
you're here because we had to take you in this trade.
So it's exciting. I mean, the future of Cavaliers hoops
is in a great place. And you look how the
rebuild started, right, you know, Lebron left. You know, they
struggling and win yeah, yeah, winning games, and hey, you've
you've crept up in the win category every single time
(24:18):
it was playing, you know, then the playoffs, and this
year we're kind of looking to take that, you know, further,
and you know, it's just gonna it's going to be
a bright future. And I'm just excited that this is
only year one of my.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Cara and you've been great this year, and the Calves
have been good when you are good, and that I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
You've all the damn time.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah exactly, yeah we need. But you've probably heard the
stat last eighteen games that you add double figures. Yeah,
they're sixteen and two. So first thirty point game and
the Calves go high. Yeah, and as the Caves go,
you know, as you go, so go to the Calves.
So your success has been directly tied with the Calves.
And I talked to you before and said, you're really
(24:58):
the perfect match for this team because before you got here,
it was kind of a quiet team, young guys and
shy and yeah, and you kind of.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Nobody talking, right, And do you do you want to
hear yourself?
Speaker 1 (25:14):
And I want to kind of ask you, like your
approach to the game, and I want to ask you
about you and another newcomer, Max Struce. You guys, you
both played in every game this year, you both first
year in Cleveland, and you both have very different approaches
on the court and that I'm trying to say this
in a very nice way, and you're kind of going
(25:36):
going He's you know, I mean, he's a blends. It blends,
it works, you know. And I want to ask you
about because I'm always watching you on the floor and
you know, you're talking to opponents, You're talking to the
guy people on the baseline, you talk a lot during
the game. How does that affect you and how does
(25:57):
it affect your opponents when you're john with him?
Speaker 2 (26:00):
You know, I yeah, I think it's who I am.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
And I think as I've gotten older, with my old age,
I've learned to just be myself. Right, you know, when
you first come into this league, You're kind of like,
how do I fit in? How do I be someone
that you know everybody wants to be around. But at
the end of the day, you just have to be yourself.
So I've kind of fell into being that fun, loving, caring,
(26:24):
you know, happy go lucky guy and playing with a
lot of positive energy because I've realized if I have
the Max Stern look on my face, I don't really
play that well. So I like to be joyous and
laughing and being positive. But you know that works for Max,
and Max is, you know, a lot more positive than
when people give him credit for. He's a huge piece
(26:44):
to our success, but he does have a serious element
to him that you know, brings winning and implements toughness.
But yeah, as for me out on the court, you know,
like I said, I'm just trying to be myself. I've
always found joy and being positive and funny and laughing
and always talking. I usually will keep talking until one
of my teammates tells me to shut the hell up.
(27:06):
So I haven't gotten that too many times this year,
so I'm thankful. But you know, I think it's been
good for me to come in alongside a guy like
Max who's had the ability to win so many games
that he's won in his period in the NBA, especially
with the heat, and you know, continue to learn from
him and his approach and the things that he does,
because you know, he is very serious in his approach.
(27:29):
But uh, he's diligent in his work. And I think
that's something that I've been able to take. You know,
since I've gotten to know him, and I've not I
known him, I had known him before, but being being
with him every single day.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Here in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Did you call him Max Stern?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
No, Max is pretty stern.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
It's very stern. Yeah, I'm afraid of him.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
You and I.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
I think you and I share a characteristic that it
makes It helps you a lot more than it helps me.
It gets me in trouble. We're good at making fun
of ourselves. Oh yes, which means there's nothing they can
tell us that.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Will get you off your off your game. Stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
He calls me the provoker tour becuse I always look
for a way to just go against whatever people that say, you.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Know, liking just because I like to annoy people.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
But that's something that you feel works in your in
your favor, especially when you're fans and rivals are talking
to cause the bench now always talks as brutal.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
Yeah, no, I completely agree with you on that one.
If you can make fun of yourself, what are you
going to say that I haven't already told myself in
my head?
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Oh you have a dad? But oh my god, I've
never heard that one.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
But no, you heard that one last night actually in
the locker room, exactly right by reporter. What's wrong with it?
Was feedor actually? But that you and sparring in the
locker room pretty funny, huh. I know that could be
like a reality reality show.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Sometimes. I'm just gonna take pal.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
Yeah, careful, man, he bites.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
You're a guy who probably knows down even better than
any anybody on the team haven't played with him for
To me, he's almost like the NBA's version of a
straight a student. He does everything right. He just he
really does. He's like the class president. He just does
everything right. Is what can you tell us about him
that maybe fans don't know, or or just talk about
(29:15):
your relationship with him over the years.
Speaker 8 (29:17):
Ah, you know, I think the relationship with me and
Donovan is pretty unique, right, you know, we kind of
came into Utah at the same time and his I
was trying to find my career and he found his
career pretty far. Yeah, and you know, what you see
is what you get with Donovan. I think he has
so much to offer, you know, not only from a
(29:39):
basketball standpoint, but you know from a human aspect. He
he cares for so many people and does so many
different things and has such a big heart. You don't
find that, you know everywhere, especially from Superstars, All Stars,
all NBA guys. You know, he really cares about other
people and his teammates, and he does a great job
of taking care of taking care of us, you know,
(29:59):
not only on the court, you know, but off the court,
whether it's dinners, you know, taking us out Christmas gifts.
He's he's been great sour Our relationships started in Utah
and it's been unique. You know, we've got to know
each other a lot, and taking vacations outside of the season.
Obviously we had to do the Bubble together down in
uh down in Orlando, so that was pretty unique. But
(30:23):
like what I said is you won't find a better
human being than Donovan Mitchell. So for the Cavs, you know,
fans out there. You know, for someone that's going to
help lead your organization, you're you wouldn't want anyone other
than Donovan Mitchell. I mean, the guy is a worker.
He shows up every day, he has a routine, he's
focused on winning and focus on having good people around him.
(30:46):
And that's who you want to represent, you know, your organization.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
And that's obviously, you know, one of the leaders that
we have on the team. But the success that the
Cavaliers have had, especially in the calendar year of twenty
twenty four, wouldn't be possible without the help and the
actions of the guys on the bench, right, like a
dem Way yeah, or Sam Merrill you know we I
(31:09):
don't know if you are aware, but they called him
the ladder Day Sniper.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
The ladder Day Sniper like that. I'm not changed his
name in my phone.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
As Yeah, but your impressions of the of these kids,
basically they had been able to take the advantage the
opportunity because we bad news come good news, right, you know,
two guys, two huge guys.
Speaker 8 (31:29):
I heard there's minutes out there as messed up as
it's like, oh they're hurt. Oh well that's more minutes
for me.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Yeah, that's the beast.
Speaker 8 (31:37):
You said it, and uh, you know, I think it
just speaks volumes to the depth on this team. You know,
every guy has to play a role, but when they're
asked to do more, we I think we all showed that,
you know, we're more than ready to do that. And uh,
you think about it. You know, Sam Merrill was on
the bench for a little while and you know when
his number was called, he was ready to answer it.
(31:58):
You know, Dan Wade has started to twenty plus games
and done a tremendous job. You know, Karris LeVert even
coming in and doing what he does. It's it's been
remarkable to see because how do I put this in
the right sense? You know, in professional sports, a lot
of it is made out to be individualized, whether if
(32:19):
that's you know, getting bonuses or signing contracts or contract years.
And I think, you know, with the stretch that we had,
we really showed how valuable it is to lean on
each other and depend on each other and work together
to come along to make winning the only thing that mattered.
And I just remember walking off the court after I
(32:39):
don't know who we had beat by twenty points, when
people were looking at U's like, how are you guys
going to survive without Evan and Darius, who are remarkable players. Right,
we're two and zero with them, you know, back or
I don't know what it was. I just tried to
take it one game out of time. Yeah, but just
to show people that, you know, if you can depend
on the person next to you and trust the group
(33:00):
that you're with like you can, you can do anything.
And that's at the little league level, and that's at
the professional level, that's in corporate America, that's in business.
It's that it all comes full circle. There's a there's
a rhyme or reason for teams and people that you
know stick together and depend on each other and trust
why they're successful.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
You know, I'm not going to argue with you when
you say that we have the best fans, because I
think I'm not gonna I could. I could sit here
and have a conversation with you about it, but I'm
not gonna argue with you. But we do have a
sense of a ton of gms on social media, especially
now that that everybody has a platform and everybody can
say and they have so I want you to put
(33:43):
into wards how much of this that you just talked
about has to do with J. B. Baker staff and
his staff, because everybody talked about JB. Like, like, you know,
again the gms in Cleveland and you still knew what
this is my tenth year here. There's a lot of
gms that like to fire and trade and which on
bench and everything, but JB. Biker Stuff is the one
(34:03):
I think that had been able to get you guys
to buy into the sacrifices and and and the roles
that you guys gotta.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Blay, right, you know.
Speaker 8 (34:10):
I think the biggest thing is that, like you said,
it takes everybody, and that's not only on the players,
and that's uh, it involves the coaches too, and uh,
definitely the coaches don't get enough credit for what they
have to do on a night in, night out basis.
And uh, you saying that the internet gms is funny
because sometimes I'll come across it, someone will have the
(34:33):
balls enough to tag me and something that they say.
I'll be like, Wow, that's pretty creative. I suck, That's
that's pretty awesome. And then uh, I think it was
like they had people shooting free throws on the court
one time and and someone said to me, they're like, yeah,
look at these people. These are the same people that
are telling you you suck. And the next five people airball, airball.
(34:53):
So you know, everybody has something something to say. But
you know, with that being said, I think JB has
always been a guy that's you know, been bought in
on team right, And I think that's kind of been
his message, you know, from what I've seen from Afar
and then me being here with guys trusting each other
and you know, sticking together and buying into our process.
(35:15):
And I feel like that's something that he lives by
and he deserves a ton of credit for, you know,
keeping that all together through the ups, through the downs,
through the twenty two win season, through the injuries of
two star players, you know, to be able to manage that,
you know, because coaching at this point is starting to
(35:36):
become more of managing.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Than it is.
Speaker 8 (35:39):
Yeah, you know, and and those guys sometimes they don't
get enough credit. And to go through the stretch that
we went through and to have that success, you know,
he definitely has a real big hand in that. And
he's done a tremendous job. And with that being said,
the internet trolls aren't going to stop because games left
(36:00):
gonna get So, you know, I try to be careful
of what I say because everything everything's good, and then
something happens. I'm like, yeah, see that dumb ass on
that show, we should trade him.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Just wait till after February.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Everybody talks about how how good, how close this group is,
and you can see it, you can sense it. Have
the other teams you've been in been this close or
is this a unique situation?
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Do you think?
Speaker 8 (36:29):
Oh, this is a unique situation right, because most of
the teams that I've been on, I was never one
of the older guys, so I was just kind of
there for along for the ride. And uh, you know,
young kids are impressionable, right, you know. So we have
a lot of young kids here where I'll say stuff
about what we did on other teams and they'll be like,
they'll have this look on there and be like what.
(36:51):
I'm like, maybe I shouldn't be telling you that.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
We did this, because if you go do this now then.
Speaker 8 (36:59):
Except but yeah, guys are super open to, you know,
trying new things and being open to hanging out outside
of you know, the basketball things. And like I said before,
we just have a group that actually like generally cares
about one thing and that's winning, and then off the court,
(37:20):
we care about one thing and that's having fun. Yes,
So I think those things go hand in hand. And
I don't think people understand, like, you spend so much
time with the people that are on your team. You know,
whether it's you guys, where we travel, we're up at
seventy in the morning seeing each other. It's like, how
(37:40):
even if I don't want to see you, I have
to say it. So you learn how to you know,
get along and grow with the people that you're with,
and to have a team that you know is bought
into that and is accepting. And there's no clicks, there's
no little groups. It's everybody does things together. There could
be four of us that go out and you know
where we last Memphis for for lunch, and then there
(38:03):
could be me and four new people that go get
lunch and you know, San Antonio. So uh, you have
to realize that building trust off the court is so
important for on the court. So I want to give
a lot of credit to that and us getting along
off the court for the success on the court, because
if we truly didn't get along with each other. I
(38:23):
feel like there'd be a lot more hiccups and bumps
in the road.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Then, you know what, enough enough for the serious stuff.
You guys like this is a fun show.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
I know this has been very serious.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
See we ever to tell you.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
The story when when when Jared Allen got traded through
the Calves and Kobe Altman in a in a person
conference said that, uh, you know, we're asking him whether
or not he was a techie, right, And they said, well,
you know, like I heard Jared Allen put broke a radio,
put a radio part and put it the computer together.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Yeah then I know that.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
Yeah, but we told Jared he's like not a radio computer.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah, offend, He's like a radio is easy. Listen, what
do you do for? Are you a movie guy? You?
Are you a gamer? I know some of these guys.
Speaker 8 (39:12):
I am completely out of the whole gaming thing unfortunately
the club. But you know, I love hanging out with
my family when I get opportunity. I love to golf. Y,
we got to golf. We always play at ours when
we're in I gotta get out there. I'm not inviting
Sam maryl because he seems to be good at everything. Yeah,
(39:34):
he's got a shooting. He's gonna be able to good
dad a husband, and I'm staying far away from so
we're playing golf then yeah, absolutely. But other than that,
you know, I like, you know, hanging out watching Netflix.
I'm huge into sports, whether if it's you know, baseball, hockey, soccer.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Well, what series are you watching right now? What are you? Well?
You do recommend the guy. I have to tell you
something though, you know, being from Miami, it's a little
water down.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
It's not it's not really it's not a really good
story if you want to watch the real thing that
happened with that woman. First of what, she wasn't even
close to look to looking like like like like what's
your name? Sophiagada? And there's a movie with Katherine Seta
Jones not even close, right, but there is the cocaine cowboys.
But the second one, yes, the really who looks like
(40:26):
nothing like the one they portray in the movie. He
talks about all the different killings and the least he
had from from the from the marina, and and talk
about how it went to kill him when they killed
the baby. So the movie I was I was disappointed
when I watched it because first of all, it's very
cheap version of like a Netflix sery, so you can
(40:46):
tell it was made in Colombia or somewhere.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
But also they.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
Use Colombian actors for Cuba and nothing. And also like
they mixed the characters just to make it match, make
it makes sense, to make it makes sense in the movie.
But like watch Cocaine Cowboys two and you're going to
get the real from the from the guy from the
people that are still alive, said rev He's still alive.
He's the only one that is still in jail by
(41:11):
the way. Oh wow, you know, because they're still holding
on for that sex the sex call that he had
with the with Have you finished watching it?
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (41:21):
I know, Yeah, where he still he went on parole
like recently, and they still in there and they try
to kill him a couple of times and they have
him been able to. But everybody else is dead. Everybody
in the movie. Whoever got Griselda ended up?
Speaker 2 (41:34):
You never watched. He's not a Netflix guy.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Yeah, not a Netflix really? Yeah? Sorry, what are you
like an Amazon Prime gag books? Yeah, I'm reading a
good book and I want to tell Jared about it,
because Jared's kind of a nerd, is it? That's okay, Okay,
he's kind of a so like I'm reading the sci
fi book right now, and if sci fi you're gonna
do is looking at me. Jared is the most interesting
(41:58):
man in the world. It's like he's the coolest.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Know.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
He's the only guy that I had a relationship with
before he even played for the the Caps. When he
was with the Nets, Like once he was on the
sideline playing with the camera for one of the photographers
and we just started to everything for like four years.
We used to like every time we went to Brooklyn
and they came here, we'll do like chat Ryan and
talk about, you know, photography. And I'm trying to get him.
(42:24):
I'm trying to get him to do an interview with
this with the astronauts in the in the space station.
Speaker 8 (42:30):
Oh wow, that's in Texas. Isn't Houston, right, Yeah, We're
gonna be there for a couple of days, you know.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
So I'm trying to go so we can go to Houston,
get him on a on an Astronauts.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
He wants to meet him.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
We talked about he wants to go into space, but
I don't think I don't think that'd be allowed on
the contract contract.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
I want to go back to travel for one second.
And you brought up a great point in that it's
like a family, and that I spend more time with
you guys than I do with my friends or my
family anybody. And I always say I tell people that
Off is more like my brother than any of my friends,
because don't take it the wrong way, but we're trapped together.
We got to sit next to each other on airplane.
I mean we are for eight months a year. You
(43:10):
got to get along if you don't get no escape,
right And back in the day, the players kind of
sat in the middle section and dudes played cards the
whole time. And now you guys sit in the front,
and I just have to ask, out of curiosity, do
you guys still play cards? What do you guys do
up front? It's a mystery.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
Now what happens in the front of the plane mystery?
I mean we all play cards.
Speaker 8 (43:33):
I mean I've been on teams where the card games
get a pretty expensive. At Cleveland, woud do a good
job of keeping the expenses to a minimum. You know,
a lot of guys are are movie guys. Book guys
just listen to their music. Some guys just fall asleep,
like I literally Darius Garland. I don't think I ever
see him with his eyes open on the plane ever,
(43:55):
so uh, he sleeps.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
You know.
Speaker 8 (43:58):
Tristan's a big monopoly guy, so he plays Jesse geinis
to play Monopoly.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
That'd be fun, man, Yeah, get an that monopoly game.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Monopoly is kind of like the game of life. Right.
The more real estate you know own, the better, right.
Speaker 8 (44:10):
I had to learn the harder, and I I thought
I was doing something.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
And I know fans want to know, because I want
to know. Would you play monopotly do you play with
real money? No, no money, play with real money, man,
because they got all kinds of money. Man. No, you
have like the bunch of bread down there, and.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
Why don't you get the boardwalk?
Speaker 1 (44:31):
What I mean?
Speaker 8 (44:35):
No, but there's a Marvin Garden. A lot of different
things that they do. Uh, eating is one of them.
As you can tell. I probably enjoy a couple of
snacks up in the air. But yeah, no, it is
a little mystery. I think guys have their own quirky
things that you know they do. I kind of like
to since we are with each other for a long
period of time, I like to give guys like their
(44:57):
piece on the plane. Sure, I'll be loud everyone in
a while, but that's I like to give them like
their time of like you know that because in the
locker room, I'm going to be me. On the court,
I'm going to be me. So I figured on the
plane I should give them a break.
Speaker 2 (45:11):
Grace.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
We talk about your dad from Senegal and obviously France
and Senegal.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
How was Paris for you? Was that that's something you
were looking forward to? Who do you go with?
Speaker 8 (45:19):
And I brought my mother and that was that was
a blast, right, you know, I had so much fun
because you know, growing up, you hear so much about
the Eiffel Tower, the arch.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Or the arc where arch yeah, ar.
Speaker 8 (45:40):
Yeah, and then you hear about you know, the Louver
and then the you know Notre Dame and all those things.
And I remember watching you know, the Notre Dame be
on fire when I was in Utah and I was
like wow. And to see it all in real life
is crazy. The architecture over the architecture over there was
amazing that people were really you know, welcoming. Yeah, So
(46:03):
it was a really cool trip. You know, we'll even
throw the nightlife in there that that was a lot
of fun too. I think this organization did a It
was a slammed up, right. It couldn't have gotten any better.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
There were and we won.
Speaker 8 (46:14):
Yeah, there were enough events. There were enough you know,
time to drink with you know everybody. Yeah, he's saying
that we rented out the whole peninsula. We'll look up
the peninsula in in Paris and see how nice that was.
Speaker 5 (46:29):
Watch Berlin on on Netflix. It was filming that that.
Oh really, yeah, it's amazing.
Speaker 8 (46:35):
Yeah, it was an amazing experience and I had so much.
I was just so fascinated with you know, it's like
the whole architecture of things, like I don't know if
it was the President's house or whatever, but I just
they were like these gold there's this gold bridge and
like these gold pillars, and.
Speaker 5 (46:50):
That's when that's when that's where Napoleon is bird yeah yeah,
and then what was it?
Speaker 2 (46:54):
They were like, uh, who louis the sixteen?
Speaker 6 (47:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (47:00):
Well the lord he had his head cut off because
he looked this mansion and everybody was starving. I was like,
this mansion is like the size of a small city.
No wonder why they wanted to kill yeah.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
I had a ton of fun.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
But I had a better experience this time around in
Paris than I had in the past because George I
had to pull the World War two cards.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Yeah, he was the ugly American.
Speaker 5 (47:24):
I went to Paris and in the restaurant and the
menu was all in French. Yeah, and you know, I
don't I don't understand it completely. So I asked the
waitress and in his few, in the few English words
that he spoke to me, he basically said to me
that I should learn French, you know. And I said,
you know, you're grateful, beep. You know, if it wasn't
(47:46):
for us, you'll be speaking German right now.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
They should have told you on the plane, don't pull
the World War two character.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
This tree the peninsula. Everybody was awesome. I practice my
French a little bit, and I didn't have to pull
out the World War two card. But my wife loved it.
My wife and daughter went and they loved parts them
and my wife is in love with the city. It's
so much better in the summer when you can walk it.
Oh yeah, it was cold when we were there, very cold.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
It's like real cool NBA stuff coming up over the
next couple of weeks trade deadline, You're not going anywhere.
You have to worry about it. But over the years
in trade, you I'm going to request to be traded
at the same table. But how are guys other guys
or over the years, do guys get nervous, weird they
(48:37):
look over their shoulder. They just figure, Hey, if I
get dealt and that's the way it goes.
Speaker 8 (48:41):
Or yeah, you know, I think you wake up every
day and try and do your job as best as
you can so that doesn't happen. Yeah, But at the
end of the day, I think all of us knew
what we were getting, what we were signing up for
when we decided to play basketball.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
For a lot. And that's part of the job, right.
Speaker 8 (48:55):
I talk about us being like a family and being
all of us together. You have to separate their relationships
from from the business, and that's hard to do because
we are together more than we are with our family.
But at the same time, you have to realize, you know,
if you do get traded, you know it is a business.
So I have never been traded, knock on wood. But
at the end of the day, I think a lot
(49:16):
of guys, you know, sometimes it it. It weighs on
them and it takes a toll. But at the same time,
I think we all know that. You know, this is
a business. At the end of the day, we get
paid to play a game. We once signed up to
do it for free, and we're paying people to play.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
Do you think it makes a difference if you trade
it because you know you're being moved somewhere where they
want you, Yeah, or one?
Speaker 2 (49:42):
Does it make a difference? You think?
Speaker 8 (49:44):
I think it's it's definitely is a difference. Right, you're
being sought after, If someone's coming to get you and
you're being replaced, I'm sure that's probably eerie feeling. Yeah, yeah,
exactly if just a salary tacked down to that. You know,
I try not to think about too many things like that,
but those are That's the reality of our business.
Speaker 2 (50:03):
Although we love that kind of trade. You know.
Speaker 5 (50:05):
That's how we ended up with Jarvid Allen. We woke
up one morning and said, James Harden has been traded
to playing and this and this and that and the Calves.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Get Jared Allen.
Speaker 8 (50:14):
You guys want you guys want that trade. The carosel
Vert was in that one.
Speaker 5 (50:17):
He went somewhere first when they came back, but he
went to Indiana and that's.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
When they did. And then you guys got Donovan Mitchell.
You guys are good at trading. And then we got Georgia.
Speaker 5 (50:27):
Yeah so smart. I know my actual you and you
mentioned smart. You know my wife used to be my boss,
my producer. She heard you a bad guy.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
I was.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
I was listening to one of your World interviews after
and she said, you should tell George that he should
pursue a broadcasting career because he's very eloquent. And I'm
actually okay, I'm practicing.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
Yeah, tell them.
Speaker 5 (50:51):
And my wife says that trust me pursue that she
knows what she's talking items I could be your producer.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
And then, uh, question I have for you is what
do you got overall Star break? What do you have plans?
Or you're just gonna just give's your home base in Boston.
Speaker 8 (51:08):
Yeah. So I'm a big family guy. I like to
hang out with my family, so I was planning on
going back to Boston to hang out with them, but
a bunch of my family has said that they're going
to Aruba, so I don't know what I'm.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Going to do then. So, yeah, Uba is all get
some sun in the sun. I know.
Speaker 8 (51:31):
So I'm kind of debating right now. You know, high
class problems. I get to pick a week before what
I'm going to do.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Go to Miami if you want to. I have an
nextra room there. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
And the problem I had I you mentioned Boston Celtics.
I had to go back and mention this is that
they didn't play Gino anymore. You're a Celtics fan. Do
you remember Gino who's Gina the disco dancer when the
game in hand and they would put the dude on.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
No, man, probably, I mean, and they probably never be there,
just old you know, maybe they never beat you in
a playoff, stopped it because he passed? Did that guy pants?
They used to when Boston would be up, kind of.
Speaker 9 (52:13):
Like when Michael we got some places at the field
House when when you were Michael j And it's like
kind of like it was an American stand like kind
of thing and he's just dancing.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Well, probably because I'm so pissed.
Speaker 5 (52:26):
Like.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
No, it's tight bottom bit yeah, fair bottom.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
Pants and Boston goes nuts and they love it.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
I used to have that T shirt. By the way,
Gino the Gino.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
I want to get one of those.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Let me get you in those pants. Now, you know
you don't want to see that.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
Well, it's his birthday. We're gonna try and get him
a little hammered. But Rafa is like Rafa used to
be fun. Like we I lived, serious man, I used
not fun anymore. No, I lived. I lived in New
York for about five years. He lived the great and
we lived.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
Put us together.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
We lived without knowing each other. To got to Cleveland,
like six blocks apart, and you can imagine me in
New York. I was, yes, well.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
And handle all the right.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
We can so much fun anyway. Now Rafa, now Rafa
doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke. Just he's no fun in
it until he.
Speaker 5 (53:20):
Makes it, until they actually listen to the voice of
the people and legalize it in Ohio.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
It's legal enough, dude, it's not legal yet. Well, it's
gonna be legal, going against the changing the rules ones
we voted. It's gonna be after this, after we wrap
up this show, because it's your birthday and I'm not
taking no for an answer. Oh my god, Margarita, it's happening,
see us.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
It takes on.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
It's happening today. I'm telling you so it's Rafa's birthday spectacular. George,
thank you so much for joining us on Winey Gold Radio.
And also I'm just gonna picture them what we got
George on the air. We would love to have you
be our field correspondent. And what that in tail is
maybe interviewing other dudes on the air.
Speaker 8 (54:03):
But I need a co host, you know, no, I'm
just you got it.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
If we want to go wait with George.
Speaker 2 (54:11):
And I had to change it for Minivan man, because
you know I have to.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
I have to make it like I love it sounds better.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
We had guys.
Speaker 8 (54:26):
We shouldn't change anything that we've been doing.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
George, thank you so much for joining us.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
Awesome George, and you hang man, how great is that dude?
Speaker 5 (54:40):
I love the fact that he thought he won the
lottery when you were looking and he was his father
watching beat the crop out of somebody.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
They really got him on that one, but he was
he was really great. Uh hey man, let's let's say
some thank you to get out of here so we
can take you with her sweet day off.
Speaker 5 (54:58):
Before you go, let's pause ten seconds for a station
to identify themselves.
Speaker 6 (55:07):
You're listening to Wine and Go Radio America.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Okay, I keep trying to make that official. I gotta
I gotta go back and listen to the radio. We'll
post ten seconds.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
I love it, you know, I really do.
Speaker 5 (55:27):
Like I used to have to do that when I
was in the NFL because I had the national national network,
so everybody has.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
To do it.
Speaker 5 (55:33):
And Lily Lily would throw me the car and me
like say, and then one time I didn't read it,
and in the break, she goes, when I give you
a car, it's for you to read. I'm like, okay, sorry,
that's what she says. That's what she said. She gave
me a live read.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
You know.
Speaker 5 (55:49):
Usually when now I do it all on my own,
I have been printing myself. But when I when she
was my producer, it was a much bigger operation. She
would just pass me and I would just grab it
and read whenever there was a break in the action.
But she gave me one and something happened. I don't
know what happened, but I kind of like got lost
in the papers and everything. And then the break she goes,
when I give you a card, it's for you to read. Nothing,
(56:12):
No high tone or anything. She was just like making
me aware of Like that's.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Why literally is so good for you, because you need
somebody to wrap your Hey, we are gonna say thanks
to the pr staff bj Evans of course, who runs
the whole thing with with the iron spur the iron
Oh man, he'll break it down and least instead they
better watch out to.
Speaker 5 (56:36):
You did the other night in Memphis, because the Memphis
there's a lady in charge of the microphone the pregame
the pregames from and she was like, okay, who's first,
and some lady raised her hand and she was about
to give it the microphone and there was nothing said.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
He just went like he was like.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
When when I when you're ready? When I'm ready, and
then and then.
Speaker 5 (56:57):
Serena first, then then Perro then but you need that.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
You need that order, yeah, speaking of wrapping knuckles. Uh
and then of course slinging Sammy who provide who.
Speaker 2 (57:10):

Speaker 1 (57:12):
He is I think he's a senior or maybe even
a fifty year senior.
Speaker 2 (57:16):

Speaker 1 (57:19):

donuts from Fiona's and will They're really good. Devin Booker
busted me. She said, Oh, Joe g wants something. Oh
(57:51):

correspondent so our next road trip. Man, I'd love to
get him. Put him ready to work on their next trip, and.
Speaker 5 (58:20):
I'm sure he'll get us some good content. You know what,
nothing what's said, But like our front office man keeps
hitting it exactly out of the park bringing these pieces
in because they just keep blending in like they be.
Like George feels like he's been here forever, right pieces
the fit, Yeah, but he feels like he's been here forever.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Just such a sprite.
Speaker 5 (58:39):
He knows what he has to do, a professional veteran
his role and just could do it.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
And if you could see the George Nan post game
show in the locker room.

if if any lady gets a hold that that hunk
of a man right now, because he's looking so good.
Speaker 2 (59:58):

from the top to the bottom of the stairs in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
The others did that. Yeah, they did that. I used
to love to run.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
Up there and just like that's uh, that's my final wish.
I want to be scattered on the rocky steps, my
ashes in the rocky steps. Yeah yeah really. I told
that to my girlfriend and she said, oh, like some
internal I have to clean it up, you know, and
like that's what you're thinking about and intern cleaning.
