Speaker 1 (00:04):
M R. Love Little stopping a little by experience, Hold On,

(00:33):
Hold on, broadcasting live from Rocket Mortgage Field House on
the sunny shores of beautiful Lake Erie, Cross a little beach, bruise,
Up and Awake and lots of three plan Downtown Cleveland. Hello, Cleveland, Hello,

(01:00):
you've tuned in to Wine and Gold Radio. Now you're
your host and Joe Gi you. Hey everybody, and welcome
to Wine and Gold Radio. Caden's Baby. We're in a

(01:22):
cadence now, I love it. What what episode is this?
Do you know what happened to? Who? What episode are
we on? You know, I have no idea. You're the
one that that I don't know. I know these weeks
episodes before we before we get into the big celebration.
Before we get into that, we have to have a
moment of silence for John Adams, the the beat of

(01:43):
the Indians, the drummer for the Indians. We have to
pause for a moment of silence. You know John Adams
right him, you met him. You know I wasn't a
podcast this week on you know the Big the Big
Play Refloat Show invited me to the studio. You can
see that. You should see their studios man, it's that

(02:05):
the year for here by the stadium. Yeah, the window
is their studio looked into the wrong way. I felt
like I was in Cooley account of Mexico. There was
like all this Tessna's part, like you know, I thought
Pablo was gonna come in and like like like like
a like a surprise guest. I feel like I feel
like a little fishy was going on there with all

(02:26):
these little planes. But I feel like like like a
high school girl, like I want to say, like, hey, hey,
say hi to them for me. I'm a fan. I'm
a fan of that dude. I gotta do to have
you on. Man, That'll be like my crowning moment if
I get it was going. So we were talking about
how when you from out of Cleveland, even though I
consider myself a Cleveland and going into my ninth year

(02:46):
living here, and I love it and it's my home.
By coming from New York and and loving baseball as
much as I do and enjoying baseball as much as
I do. You related that Droom beat Cleveland, right, and
it was one of the few teams that have that
you know that that that have something that you see
it and you're like, that's Cleveland right before you even

(03:08):
moved here. Before Obviously I knew about the Guard about
the Indians back then, but like I knew about this
dude and even inn when I came with my bodies
to that game, thinking that were going to close out.
And then Sandy Alomar hit the first ever, first ever
homer of Mariana Rivera in the in the in the
post season. There have been only one of two in

(03:30):
the post season that he gave Marianna Rivera and then
he didn't. He talked about Johan Adams, I think, but
he is. Yeah, but we were talking about how also
like visiting players knew about it. But the thing is
that I had that beat in my head for so long,
you know, and then when I when I got the
job with the Calves and I decided I was going

(03:51):
to come to Cleveland. I literally that was the first
person I wanted to meet, you know, I wanted to
meet Joanna and I got to meet him outside of
upside of old Jacobs Field Progressive Field. Now, when the
year of the when the Calves and the and the
and the and the Indians were both in the you know,
they had the world serious game one when we when

(04:13):
we got the rings for the players, remember in the
first game of the season. So I met him in
the morning when they were having like a big TV
thing at I. I was doing a show and he
came in with it like took a picture of banging
the drum. It was. I was like a kid. I
always loved the fact that. And then you learned things
about him that he decided to do that as a
twenty one year old, like ahead of his time. I

(04:34):
think you know, they didn't know that when you one
years old he was, and he they made him pay
for a seat for him that I did, and that's crazy.
They made him pay for a chair, a ticket for
his for his drum. That's nuts to me. Man. And
then also as an ignorant transplanted Cleveland that I was
when I came here, I thought and more a lot

(04:56):
of people do that when they from out of Cleveland.
They we thought that the drum was related to the
team being the Indians, you know, like boom boom, right,
right right, And then I learned that he was him
trying to emulate the noise that fans made when they
were banging on the chairs at all Municipal stadium and
that was even corner. I was like, oh man, he

(05:16):
thought about this about twenty one years old. But imagine
like again, like you're used to games and it's still
not as full as it should be in like a
forty thousand see thirty thousand place that used to be
like seventy eight thousand people. It was so empty and
all you'd hear like I asked this question and I
couldn't get a yes or not from the guys from

(05:37):
the Reflox show. They did not include him in the
in the Major League movie about the Indians. I think
that's a disgrace. If it wasn't, it kind of is.
And I'm not gonna say it's a disgrace, but now
that you're talking about well not yes, it kind of is.
But now that you're talking about him, I wonder why
did we ever have heard of Cass game wouldn't have
been a badass if he all of a sudden, like

(05:58):
in the fourth quarter, all of a sudden. Great thoughts
are the things that you cannot plan. And we'll talk
about later with one of our guests about you know,
the game entertainment and don't nobody can think of that?
This is a dude that thought, Hey, you know what,
let me just bring my drums. I'm just saying, like
one game, randomly, we put him out there one game

(06:21):
and the people go nuts. It's not like he did
it for a couple of times a season. He miss
only forty five games, amazing in twenty I don't know
how many freaking years. But he started in the seventies
and he meets forty one games. And that's baseball, and
a lot of it. Most of it is bad baseball,

(06:41):
a lot of it, A lot of it, a lot
of it. Hey, you know what we have to we
have to stop and say happy birthday to year, little
birthday boy baby, what are you doing to celebrate? What
am I doing to celebrate? I am going to beat
the crap out of the Grizzlies, and I'm going to enjoy.
I'm going to be watching what I drink when I'm

(07:02):
around you until the rest of the day. Well, I
was going to say, because like you don't, you don't
drink anymore, and I had that bottle of wine that
you say you will not drink, but I still trying
to convince you to drinking. Yes, I feel I think
you should not. I think it could be fun. I'm
going to celebrate it now in a way that I

(07:23):
put it this way, Broccoli raffa sucks, not just not
just broccoli rapp but like experimenting rafa has come and gone.
That's not an experiment. You've been there before. I've been
That's what. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. But I
was there before, just for the for the for the
thought or like what if right, Like we'll talk about

(07:43):
it off the air, but I still think. I still
think we can. We can still no, we can make
it happen. Um so calvs. Obviously kind of ending a
little I was gonna say, ending a rough stretch, finally
getting a two day break, but then, as you mentioned
off the air, a book ended with a pair tough
back to backs including Sunday, Monday, and then next weekend Chicago,

(08:07):
New Orleans, Chicago Home. Yeah, that's gonna be a tough one.
It's a tough one, you know. But I always think
that February and Ganuary and February are the equivalent of June,
July and August in baseball, because we are now starting
to realize that this freaking season is here to stay.
Me in the weather season. You know, there's gonna snow

(08:30):
three out of the seven days of the week and
then the other four days today is Sunday. But you
know it's like the dog days or summer for baseball.
This this is like the the polar bare days of
of of winter for for for the for the fan,
for the basketball fan. It's starting to get there. And
when you talk about what's coming up a week break, man,

(08:52):
these guys are human being. And I don't care how
old they are. I don't want to criticize it because
they're young, because then I'm fitting that years all today
and I'm already thinking about February six, when it's the
start of a five day break that I get to
like forget about everything that I love so I can
continue to love what I do, you know what I mean. So,

(09:14):
and I'm not beating myself up. So but with in
terms of the calves, it's hard to to argue against
the fans that love this team and support it and
feel angry or cheated when the team loses and they
forget about the reality thing that can eighty two game season,
and that's that is a team that's supposed to be

(09:36):
behind the standings supposed to where the rest Celtics, the Nets,
the Philadelphia, I Milwaukee, the relation. It's actually ahead in
the standings of Toronto, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, those teams that
made the playoff and and and what you know, So
we are where we want to be. We are. We
are in a situation that they need to address things right.

(09:58):
But we're nine games Finn, They're going into the Memphis game.
We and JB said it, there's sevent teams with thirty
wins in the league. We are one of them. I
think we're kind of right where we should be and
everybody else should be there, and we are. I don't
want to say ahead of the program, but we are.
We are what we expected. You're just getting Ricky back,

(10:20):
you know, you just he still hasn't think about it.
On top of us, we have Durant and Kyrie hardened
and indeed we have great free Atum and and Brown,
Janni's Middleton and Holiday and only that all those teams
have been to a final recently warned all right, so

(10:42):
we are there and and and yes, and JB said
about you know what I mean again, those teams don't
have a twenty two year old and a twenty three
year old, and you know how many of those have
us started player in the All Star Game. You have
to go through it. You have to all teams. I
mean again, JB has mentioned as many times your Celtics

(11:04):
had to go through the Pistons, had to go through
the Bulls, had to go through the Pistons. You know,
the Spurs had to go through the Lakers. It happens.
You have to go through that. Being said, we keep
getting ourselves in situations like the game against the Clippers. Well,
you have to show where we made of whoever whoever

(11:24):
we played after the Warriors the bus the following so
that night we have to show where we made of
that we laid an egg the size of a t rex. Yes,
or it happens to every team in the NBA. Right,
But then you show you learn from them. That's what
they say is winds and lessons instead of winds and losses.
You need to learn, right, they show what they show

(11:45):
that they actually learned the lesson when the Clippers came
in wounded with the calendar loss and that, and they
came in and took care of business and step on
them the way they should have, and and that's it, right,
So we are in that position that we haven't won
because secondary games at the beginning of the year. We
are you know, nine games over five whichever numbers. You

(12:06):
can massage him and look at them whichever way you want, right,
we just need to step up to the to the challenge.
But you know, again, the game against Miami, right, Miami
changing us. They've been in that situation. They've been to
the finals, they went to the finals in the bubble.
They are a team that has been coached by the
same guy and the same system forever, so they've been

(12:28):
there wasn't a big game for them. For us, it
was something. It was a new lesson. It was a
new chapter of this growing process, right, and it's still
going moving forward, I think. So I think that's my
message to the fans. Just don't don't lose track of
what we have to support here and the talent that
we have and the unicorn that we have a number four,
and how he's growing and how he's showing and now

(12:51):
and don't know, Mitchell having a career year and and
even he said it's like this guy is not falling,
like it will be everything will be okay. And in
you don't really have. I mean, the thing is, you
might have four closers or five closers, but you don't
know who the closer really is right now. So they're
gonna figure all that. They're gonna figure these things out.

(13:11):
I guess what it will be totally different in the playoff. Yeah, yeah,
and and something else in the playoffs. But you know,
what I'm looking forward to is looking forward to the
break like you are. I'm looking forward to after the
break where if they're healthy. Now you know you're done
with your Western Conference teams, teams aren't going to roll
in resting guys, you know now, games all mean something.

(13:34):
You're gonna be taking on Eastern Conference teams, jockeying for position,
people looking at the standings right now a sudden, you're yeah,
now you're every day checking the standings where you're at,
and who's behind you and who's in front of you.
So you know, again some of these games and you
mentioned it, and you have a real beef. You're not alone.
But about how these guys resting, how many guys have

(13:56):
rested when they came here. Lillard and Luca and Harder
and Harden and uh um, the Clippers you know. So,
I mean, Curry, it's a problem, and I think it's
a problem. But but that's not that's not gonna be
solved or go away. No. So and and and one
of the things also that that I was discussing with
with some of the guys was, first of all, you

(14:18):
have to take whatever is in front of you. The
Clippers came in with up with the wounded warriors. You know,
want to take it. Nobody feels bad for you when
you were in the beat them up. When they take it,
put it, you call, put them put in the right
column and move onto the next one. And and because
when we show up somewhere whatever it is, or somebody
comes into town and we have four guys out like
we had last year, nobody saying, you know what, I'll

(14:40):
see my guys, so we can we can be even.
That's why, like again, you're gonna certain games you give away,
certain games you steal. But at the end of the year,
if you're one game out of the this spot or
one game out of the playoffs, you're gonna look at
that Golden State game and you're gonna say they gave
us that one. It's more than one game. Then again,
there have been other games, but like there's one that's

(15:02):
gonna stick to you, and it's gonna say, man, they
came into town and pretty much gave that to us.
We take for you to take it, but they didn't
give it to us. I'm saying, they came out and playing.
I understand that the taking. We didn't take that foot
on the plate. That's it and you can't do that
in the NBA. Cannot and they'll learn that. But again,
at the end of the season, Joe, it's really easy
to say, okay, man, this game, we could have won

(15:24):
the game. Again, the next we could have taken and
you know they we gave away this game. How many
how many leaves that will give away on the first
trip that that's that's going to happen, right, But you
just gotta take care of business now. After the All
Star break, you can't anymore away. That's where the coaching
staff comes in. Yeah, make this, make sure these guys staying,
staying the game, stay mentally ready until that we finished

(15:47):
the game in Philadelphia, and then make sure that they
at least see the gym during those six days, because
that's what happened to when teams come back there are
guys that need to get back on track. Yeah that
thing that didn't hit the gym. You know what I mean,
it's normally nature. I won't I already have planned that
I won't even go to the gym, doing doing doing

(16:09):
my stay in the All Star right, O, can't wait.
I'm resting. I'm like, but that's my that's my way
of keeping what I do fresh and so I can
come back and continue to you know what I do.
You need because I don't want to hate. I don't
have to wake up one morning and be like, man,
I have to go to Well, I left my other job.
That's why I'm a broadcaster, not because the other job

(16:29):
would burn me out. Right right, I'll say this after
it because I'm going to You've been to a few
All Star games. I've been to a lot. I'm not
going anywhere. Well, I'm just saying I know myself and
I remember, you know, we go with lebron Kyrie and
all that, and when you came back from that weekend,
you're cooked. You don't feel like going to the second half.

(16:50):
You're especially remember they ran them through everything, so now
they have a whole week right right before. You still
be a weekend. Yeah, at least now they have, which
also works against them because now they have more events
to do with. This is what the guys make their
money too. Yeah. You know, all these guys with all
these sponsors and all this stuff. This is where they
have to go and do the the Nike thes and

(17:13):
the on the arm or Dad and the Adidas this
and the shoes. Yeah. Yeah, you got run the circuit.
But that's what you gotta pay the bill. Yeah, for sure,
all right, so for sure. Uh. You know, what we
were talking about earlier was how weird it was that
the trade deadline used to be after the All Star weekend.
It seems like it's crazy that it was always before,
but it used to be after. It's big. That's a
big that's like two weeks in. You know, you can

(17:35):
go to All Star Weekend and come back with another team.
It's kind of weird. It happened to add it's happened before.
DeMarcus Cousins one time. I remember being with All Star
we did. Oh yeah. Uh. Anyway, you know, you know
we should ask about all these things. Mommay. Yeah, so

(17:56):
let's talk to him. In the next segment. The Rafah's
Rapha's Birthdays sectacular Rose on Hey, what what did did
the ground hug see and shadow? Do you? Yeah? Man?
Six more weeks off man, Hey, We'll be right back
with Mommy dieqe. On segment two of Wine and Gold Radio.
This is Mike Snyder and I never listened to Wine

(18:19):
and Gold Radio. That was delicious. There's more of this, folks.
This is a garbage spectacular after this on Wine and
Gold Radio. This is a flashbug my coutchel with thirty

(18:47):
three points. Bet you'll back at shoots good cavaarts. Wait,
not tiking about pulling up bull back the gay Clubber
Cavaliers want it in four over times, the Cattleers to
peak of Los Angeles Quakers in four over times one

(19:08):
fifty four for one fifty three and one of the
most donebelievable ball games that has ever been played in
the coma Salmo, Milton, your mommy, dear kitten. Now back

(19:42):
to Wine and Gold Radio Tower. Everybody, welcome back to
segment two of Wine and Gold Radio. Wine and Gold Radio,
and we are joined bear special guest, Mom and Dake.
Is it might pronouncing it right? You got it right? Okay,
I'm working at and we've been working at it a

(20:05):
life for a couple of year. Before we got off
the air. Before we got on the air, we were
talking about soccer. It's been like the topics since, uh,
since the World Cup. And Mommy is trying to explain
why we don't like you got you got them all right.
We don't like the flopping, we don't like we we
like to have stats. What else is it? But the
thing with soccer we have stats, we do have stats.

(20:27):
We don't but we don't understand them. So much attention
to it. Okay, that's that's the problem. I just don't
think there's not enough scoring for for distance number one
popular here because it's tech about. In baseball, I have
seen Jack Morris throw out one nothing game. I need
the most exciting baseball game I ever watched right, right,
and and and the World Cup game was fantastic. I

(20:48):
loved it. It was one of the best games of
any sport I've seen. Going back to picking back to
what you just said, Uh, best Boy is one of
those sports that I have nice drive to understand it.
It's really hard. It's so slow. It takes one six hours.

(21:09):
He can't go it's so slow. I went to one once.
I mean, I support, I support the cops no matter what.
But it took like for six hours and they kept going.
So I told the guys, I'm going home. I'm gonna
go get food. I'm gonna go to slip. They're probably

(21:31):
the baseball has right now, but the other probably, but
I can't in soccer is football, Like I still can't
call it soccer. Americans called football and support that Americans
are only only two guys, four guys out of a
hundred actually touched the ball with their feet. Everybody else
touches with their hands and it's called football. But that well,
soccer doesn't have commercials for forty five minutes when the toy.

(21:55):
It's not a made for TV sport. That part, that
part is kind of nice. It's one of the battles
that they could haven't here. That parts kind of again,
Like we talked about the flopping and then they'll flop
and then they'll lay on the ground screaming in pain.
But and then and then two seconds later they get
up and it's like nothing happened. You know, you know
what I feel like, Americans like exciting things, things with

(22:17):
a lot of you know, numbers, but it goes back
and forth. That's that's like football. So football can be
born at some point. But yeah, um, people get more
excited when you say high number and good defense and
crazy stuff happening. But I can compare one thing to soccer.
That's what we just talked about. To me, it's a baseball.

(22:38):
I think it's super slow. It is baseball, And I
have no idea why people get excited. I mean at first,
I didn't know the rules. So people like, you know,
you hear that people get excited. No, I'm like, he
didn't go anywhere. That guy got it, like, yeah, but
you touched the first place. Oh okay. Then it was

(23:00):
in high school I got I got a start. Actually
in high school, I don't remember really well what guys
were seeing. I was playing. I was trying to you know,
so I hit the ball bad and then I stead
of going to first base, I went to the other one. Yeah.
I had no idea. I've seen it once and well

(23:22):
I wasn't showing what they're doing. I thought you can
choose all right, left people are laughing and said, no, yeah,
I'm running the excited. I'm like, oh, I can do
this for forever. See that if you played it that way,
baseball would be a really exciting. It would be a

(23:42):
lot more fun if you can just run any base
Maybe ask you a question the explain to to our
audience the amazing feet that it would be too cover.
For example, for people that think that soccer is boring,
to try and to run next to with the ball

(24:04):
him with him with the balling his feet and running
at a fastest speed that you can run without anything
on you. And they's still I mean, if you can't
find that exciting, and I don't know what, I don't
know what it is. So you're a fan for people
who don't know, you're a fan of the French, of
the French because I got I got, I got a
lot of family there, okay, you know, I'm my uncle's

(24:27):
are there, my sister is there, and my mom and
dad worked there for long, the longest ever and then
they went back home. So that's one of the reasons
why I'm so tired to to friends. But I just
need friends. Is playing Guinea. I'm not guineas my lose,
but I'm going for Guinea. Okay, I won't be so
much hurt if friends guinea, you know, and how's Guinea

(24:48):
and Guinea is good, but the problem is always it's
a lot of corruption there. You don't they don't invest
so much in soccer, it's the biggest sport there. But
guys are scared to come back and really try hard
for the for the country because if they get hurt,
they're not taken care of. In other on other national

(25:08):
teams such as French. I'm gonna give you an example.
Ben Zima got hurt, but that's not gonna hurt him
for his career because the French team is going to
take care of him exactly. So the money is not
gonna come out of his pocket. So if you're going
to play for your national team, whether it's soccer or basketball,

(25:29):
anything in Africa, especially in South America too, maybe a little,
but like you invest more and if you pay, I
think you you invest more. You know where my country
made this work up. In nine eighty two, we have
the biggest the biggest defeat in the history of wold Up.
We loves tend to one to Hungary in nine we

(25:50):
were the last team to arrive in in Spain the
day before the match. The team didn't have jerseys to change.
After the game, the math they have to keep them.
And they were all warming up and like practicing with
their own not with their own regular teams kids because anything.
And so the Hungarian that was the first game that

(26:12):
the world. We played that again Hungary the first time, right,
So the the Hungarians were practicing and they had all
these like you know, practice kids and that. So then
the Salvadorian team chose up and they have one ball
for the practice. So the Hungarian team left older balls

(26:35):
and donated the balls to the Salvadorian teams. The national
team again believe the stories that when they got to
the next practice for the next game, everybody had taken
the ball, taken the air out and put it to
bring something with you. But the money is very different

(26:55):
from the Guinea to France, from salvar to even has more. Yeah,
but the corruption it is probably just the same. It's
like you know, when they travel, they stayed like three
or four players when a room in the room in
one room. Yeah, the like they don't need Like my
friend used to play in the national team and they
had come to l A and I took him out.

(27:16):
I took like ten of them out to to eat
because they were like you know they had made us
an extra game for the people they were making an
extra game that wasn't planning the calendar, because obviously they
were probably on the side that Yeah, you know, you
know how it was. But guess what you said. They
made it to Spain, right, yeah, okay, Yeah, they had
example a good story here for you. They went to

(27:38):
the work. We've only been there twice as time wasn't
they did seven and they did to Okay when I
wasn't Guinea. Yeah. I think we played against the selectist
team or some something like. I don't know which team was.
I was young, so you're gonna laugh about this. We lose,
but we're kindly qualified to go play. I don't know

(27:59):
who were supposed to go to Senegal to play and
sing or something like that. They tell us the next
day the buss is living at ten am right something
like that whatever, and the flat at nineties had seven
or six some something. So they wanted us to get
to the airport earlier so we can do the formalities
and all those stuff before getting on on the plane.

(28:22):
I get all my luggages, my family comes and drops
me off at the stadium and I stayed. There's twelve,
and I'm thinking, Okay, it's African time. You know, it's
not ten, it's really it's really one. I still there
until too the coaching staff come and tell me, yeah,

(28:42):
I don't think we're going. I'm like, wait what They're like, no,
when we're not going? I'm like, why, Yeah, the bus
the bus broke and stuff like that. I'm like, but
we can all uber, we can take a taxi to
the to the airport. They say, no, the flight left us.
Oh my god, man, that's the third role for you. Yeah,

(29:06):
like the literally like the flight took off, the left
us behind. I'm like, there's no, wait, how can you
supposed to live in the next three hours? But again,
are you the kind of the reason for the flight?
That'd be like the Cavs team flight leaving without the players.
I mean, isn't it so what the did was that
took the money put on the on the pockets. Yeah,
and and just's all though, some crazy stars. We are

(29:29):
so we are so spoiled as Americans. We are so
do you? I mean you must think that we're spoiled
as hell? Right, let's talk a little basketball. We're coming
up on a couple of dates. Here. I wanted to
talk about coming up on the All Star break coming
up pretty soon. How do you feel physically? Are you
guys exhausted? Are you're ready for a break and you're

(29:51):
ready for a break from each other? How do you
feel physically at this point of the season we're talking
about and really collectively? U? Both both both? Yeah. I'll
start with the Tim. Okay, Um, guys are a little
banged up, but we're we're not really thinking about that.
We're trying to travel for greatness. You can see the

(30:13):
hunger like it's some games that were left there on
the table that we knew. Okay, we lost it, but
we can bid this. Tim. You know, we didn't give
them our best shot, right, we could have been better
and we could have been in a better position, but
nothing less. Let's not forget that. We're still doing great
to remind or remind ourselves that. But um, yeah, the

(30:34):
guys are not really thinking about the Ulstar like that.
Maybe you know it would be great too, relaxed, a
couple of break, take a break, go see your family
or families uh each individual guy? Um, but yeah, I
mean after that, we're gonna have to come back right
back and and focus more. But one thing that I

(30:55):
learned in the NBA, especially being with Milwaukee and learning
about knowing about um, you know, all the going to
the playoffs, how physical gets how locked and you have
to be things are going to change once we come back. Yeah,
so everybody got like another level. And do you think
the guys know that that you know that because you've

(31:17):
been there. Did these guys know it? I would assume
that they know it. I don't know if they really
know it, but like it's like you're gonna you're gonna
have to accept getting some technicals. Yeah, just so you
can show the oppening that I'm not here to play
with you. Yeah, I'm not talking about punching someone or anything,
but I'm gonna stand you know. Yeah, we're gonna have

(31:40):
that argument. Like you're not backing up. You don't need
to back up. But do you feel sometimes that they
you wish they put you in just to gether? Oh? Yeah,
I would do it, honestly, Honestly, I would do. I've
done sometimes I've done in vision, I've done and like
sometimes it's in my game, you know, like especially after
the break, guys are gonna come back trying to do

(32:01):
to put an exclamation point like, hey, hey, if I
fish you in the playoffs, you're done for. That's what
I'm trying to show you. Exactly leave it market. So
everyone's gonna raise their butt the ceiling. Yeah, so again
you're you're one of the big guys, but you're obviously
probably more more physical than our We have big guys

(32:23):
that they're they're nice guys, they're kind of they are
kind of nice guys. Quiet guys do other big man
and the other teams trying and kind of assert themselves.
Push your guys around. I've I've had that before when
I wasn't lucky. They'll put me in a game like
in some some sometimes in the playoffs and or before

(32:44):
the end of the season, and I would not you know,
guys would be there trying to like just harass you,
push your show them, show you that you don't you
don't belong. Yeah, this is our year and you see
the how elbow you in the face. Or I'll try
to artist let me or something, and I won't care
about how much they find me because those those guys

(33:05):
and they can't wait for you to get Those guys
on the team are ready to pay for it. If
I'm one of the o G on the team and
a rookie or whatever younger guy does that, I'll ask
for everyone to have a petish to have a petition
like to pay for the fine. Yeah, everyone should just
give up. I don't five hundred three whatever that is.

(33:27):
So yeah, because it changes, it changes. We have to
sometimes you have to send those messages. Yeah, you know
sometimes and we're young teams. I would imagine you have
to send a message. I always beenibing to ask you
what the blue Ridge what they called the Cavaliers as well,
or the Barrens. But it's close to a cavalier, close
to cavalier. So this guy played for the for their

(33:48):
Night Cavaliers and now he's a Cleveland Cavaliers, you know
I call his He won the championship in uh Yeah.
And you and you've you've you've won three championships in
a row, even the National Championship, then the G League
champion and then NBA Championship. Winning an NBA championship. You

(34:12):
see what it takes. We've seen what it takes. People
have no idea all the events that have to happen,
all the luck you have to have to get there.
Does this team have, in your opinion, what it takes
to get there? Um, yeah, that's all the tools. But
sometimes we've gotta be the digressor instead of being aggressed.

(34:34):
That's the one thing I think we've gotta change. Um
we talk about X and those, Yeah, those are going
to help us get there, and we have those already.
That's a very talented team to you know, even besides
System X and those that guys can go and score
for themselves, Like we're not talented. We have to understand

(34:55):
that sometimes. Again, the tactical technicals are worth it. I
don't want to use all of them the year I
have foul, but you got to have some stuff sometimes
maybe yelling at the ref or something. Let him know that, Like, look,
it's gonna be intense, so you better not call some

(35:19):
just let let the go the game go, or you're
gonna call him my favor. You can see drum on Green.
It goes at it And I really like intensity, Like
I like to play against guys like that because that
makes me go even crazier. That's why I respect him
so much. But yeah, this team has a lot and
I think we can get there. But what do you take?
What it will take us is like I said at

(35:41):
the beginning of the year, we need to we need
to get punched in the face. We need to get
punched in the face. Because we came out nine and
one or something like that in one early on, I
don't know whatever, and then we got punched on the
face and we were live. But not when you get
punched in the fast, it's too too. You got two options.

(36:04):
She didn't stay down there and you know, and you
buy your head or whatever. You give up, or you
get up and you fight, but next time you get
up and fight better gun with more tools. And that
has happened with Janice, who was like a brother to me,
and it's happened to many other people that have gotten
punched on the favor and Golden stayed early on in

(36:25):
their careers like they're getting punched in the fist. And
then Steph got better. All the guys got better. And
now you can see there being vocals about it who
were drafted this number or where no one believed in
us because we didn't have any big man last year
against Boston, but we won same thing with Tatum and

(36:45):
Jellen Brown, like, oh, you guys will never make it
but now they made it to the finals and this
year they're doing great, So I think this team has it.
But getting punched on the fist is not a bad thing.
And the other thing too is the fans need to
understand that putt in a hot sauce, in some sauces

(37:06):
or not making fun just you just hurt your own people.
You know, like you want to be supportive, you want
to push guys to get better every day because when
it comes down to that playoff game, if the team
is now mature enough, they will be listening to those things.

(37:27):
In Milwaukee, we didn't listen to anything. We said a
lot of stuff. And if I'm allowed to say here,
but am I Yeah, like you gotta get away from
I don't care if you're married or now take your
wife or your girlfriend or whomever to you know, we're
taking a break. We're gonna focus on basketball, just for

(37:47):
for one month, just one month. We're gonna focus on basketball.
We're gonna limit it, go nowt. We're gonna make sure
we eat the right way. Whatever you eat it makes
you right, and go hard in practice that can with
each other, right, Yeah, go hard, have fun. I guess
it's serious about have fun with it. You know, this

(38:07):
is your family here. Just stay stay tight. Yeah, if
if I go out and I'll do something and I'm
not really the next day, I'm hurting everyone else because
they can't count on me now. And it's the time
where it happens, because you can be done by It's
a playoff. Seriously, seven games, the first and the first
to win for you, maybe down three zero and come

(38:30):
back and win the whole thing. So there's no panic.
You just keep focusing on you know, that's the next thing.
But that's it. I like the point about what you said,
because I remember the Bucks did the Bucks. I used
to get knocked out in the first round, and I
remember everybody said, well, they can't do it there. They're
too soft. You know, it's just too soft. They couldn't
do it. And that was the thing in didn't Virginia.

(38:50):
I might be wrong about this. But then the year
before that, same stuff, talk about getting punch in the face. Yeah,
that handed thinking you were going you were coming in.
How much was that you guys were, Yeah, we're number
one in the country. We're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna
work past these guys. And then obviously you run into

(39:12):
a team that was playing the game of your life. Right,
but those three and I forget it, what three four
days I think it was that I called my final
call when you guys won the championship, What was the
process of that? I mean, a, first of all, that
date must have been the most horrible bay of your
life sports sports wise, Yeah, and we had to find
a way to recover from it. And that's what I

(39:34):
think this team also needs to do, is to block
out everything. And I didn't mention that point with Milwaukee,
we blocked that everything, fans, media, everything, we don't forget about,
forget about every just you, it's gonna be hard with
social media. Just get off media everything. Yeah, because when
you play in a game, it's not about what you say.
If you focus on okay, this possession, that possession or

(39:58):
next possession, then get good results. Everything might not be perfect,
but if you accumulate each of them, by the time
you realize and look, you look at the crowd, everyone
is probably gun in that other arena because you're kicking
everyone's But yeah, exactly. So when with Virginia, we obviously

(40:20):
we got bit bad, but prior to that game, we're
feeling ourselves. But a night to off it, one of
our teammates just located his shoulder, Jay Hoff, and then
DeAndre wasn't playing. So I felt like mentally guys were
not pere but also because it was a little nervous,
so we had a heart right. He wanted to go

(40:42):
so hard to make sure we're on point. Now, I'm like,
if you do that, guys will we're tired and we'll
not be able to, you know, play well. But it
was a cursed by blessing at the same time, because
we went out there honestly said Tim, we're great against
great Tim's we're really bad against him that we don't
know at all because we'll study you your system and

(41:04):
what you do. But if we can study that, and
you know, you know, all the guys yeah blicking tuckey,
Well looked at them. We're like, okay, he likes to
go right more, Okay, we're gonna listen to him left.
So we know those kind of kind of things like.
But with these guys, it was a street ball. Yeah,

(41:24):
what was the team? I won't forget that. Well in Maryland, Maryland,
yea Maryland. So they were street balling you know we're
doing the opposite of what we thought we came ready for.
But then after after that, some guys were down depressed,
and I was very sad. But in my head, I

(41:47):
was just like I can speak for myself more because
I know what I thought. What I was thinking. I
was like, you know what, you can either bow and
not find ways to get better, or you can just
focus on what's next. How can I get better today tomorrow?
How can I get better the next day? Do you
ever meet to Rob Sun? Oh? Yeah, I met him? Tall,

(42:08):
tall guy. Yeah, that's why I can say tall linking.
We were laughing last week. We he had to go
against Boban after the game. You set me up, man
set me up. So I had a scream and roll
with Rao. Raoul hit me. Usually I want to dunk

(42:30):
on people. I don't care. I just want to finish
you right, grab the wire, jump in the air. I'm
about to dunk it. And imagine was like five or
six ft away from me. He takes one step, He's
got the rim. I'm in the air. I'm like, oh,
I wasn't thinking of fasting the boat. I was trying
to dunk it. So last night I'm like, if I

(42:52):
try to dunk this, I'm gonna miss. I know it.
Let me right right, So I extend my arm, but
he's still next to me. I get a little nervous
and miss. But then all the shots he went, he
was trying to grab every offensive rebound. Yeah, so when
I learned in vision only play against a tall, big dude.
You don't box him box him out by putting him

(43:13):
behind you. You have to face him and you limited
he and I like, it's like you're out and I'm out.
You don't get anything. I don't get anything, but you
don't get anything. They're gonna battle around with themselves. So
I just grabbed them. But it was fun though. But
I just remember looking at you and I'm like, you know, Mount,
he's a big guy, and you look like like a

(43:33):
little kid compared to me, and it's it's really, it's
really amazing. He's a monster. We're talking a little bit again.
He was like he was laughing at me. He said, Okay,
I'm not gonna go another date. I want to ask
you about and this may not affect you at all,
but like around this time, one week from today is

(43:55):
the trade deadline? Is that another thing that affects players.
I mean we were talking about earlier. I was talking
with another writer about the human element and that guys,
now all of a sudden, you're with this team. These
are your friends, these are your guys. You your brothers,
you live in a certain area, and now all of
a sudden, there's a chance that from one day Thursday,

(44:16):
you're here. Then the next day you're gone, your brothers
are gone, you're with another team. You have to move
your whole life. Ever since the guys. That affects guys
at this time of year, it could possibly, But um
I learned from you know when I left Milwaukee was
I was surprised because I was in a contract and

(44:38):
just just I just left, like I wanted to. Okay,
see how could not believe it? But I was there anyways.
But um, I just realized that first you can't be
mad mm hmm. The business business before anything. We laugh
and play with each other, but business. So you might

(44:59):
be here or you might not be here. But don't
also forget that doesn't mean it should be mad at everyone.
Because the family I might see around again, you know,
the team that let go of me Milwaukee, I still
love me to death. M hm. I'm still in contact
with most of the guys in the front of you

(45:19):
special Yeah, you wan to tit all together, so they're
just you. Just you have to understand that, you know,
you need to be close to them. Same thing with Okay,
so like, yeah, um, I didn't go back. You didn't
want to sign me for the rest of day on
another contract, No problem, But like we're cool. I'm cool

(45:41):
with all the players and now I'm here. You know.
So you have to just understand that your pipe might
not be the same as others. But assume when you
find your home home, then it might be the third stop,
it might be the fourth, it might be the first stop,
it might be whatever. But once you get there, that's it.

(46:01):
Then that's it. They will know it. You will know it,
but they will also know it. Okay, this is one
of his final stops. Oh, he's going to be here
at list for a long time. I hope here for
a long time. I hope. So your deadline, so we'll
see what's going to happen. You ain't going anywhere. You're
not going anywhere. Do you ever wear both your championship
rings or all three of your do you get championship ring. Yes,

(46:22):
do you ever worry about I just keep I keep
it humble to me that has happened. I'll think about
it when I'm done. Just do it like the Miami broadcaster.
That's what I was doing. When the Miami broadcasters coming
down where the ring. Yeah, they when they come here,
I don't know if they do it. When the bron

(46:42):
was here, you know, that's the only time we see
them minute. So they were like, you know, the guy
will interview me and he put the ring line in
hand with I've only one mind one time, one time.
I worry. Once there was an event that j R.
Smith was supposed to go to and cancel, so they
sent me. Now I'm thinking, my god, these people paid

(47:03):
thousands of dollars for the table to sit with j R.
Smith and now we're gonna get boys something. Let me ring.
This is like three months after we won the champion
put the ring to at least I have like a
conversation starter, you know it blister my my pink's too big,
but big and it has like like like what do

(47:23):
you call it, like a three D of the of
the skyline. Yeah, so like blister my thinking fingers I'm like, hey,
so everybody, every kind of they forgot that. It was
so I'm like, you know, that's the only time my
wife is so big. It's too big. You can't really
wear that. As much as I'm proud of what the
guys did and I feel like I'm part of the team,
you know, I just worried for special locations. You know,

(47:45):
I don't. I don't. I don't even try to wear
at all. You just want another one. That's it. Oh yeah,
it does that to you. It does that to you.
It makes you want to get more. Said wow, like,
don't my girlfriend and if we win a championship that
would be there, that will be the that will be
the engagement ring for her. We will. I think it's

(48:11):
gonna surprise a lot of people. I think right now
people are thinking what they're gonna make it to the playoffs.
They're gonna be um and um, I don't know, their
second round something like that Eastern Conference. You know, if
they get there, good accomplishment. Okay, you see that. The
same thing happened to me, Like I said, hey, we're
gonna win this. Yeah, there's too many good teams. We're

(48:35):
thinking about what they were thinking about the nets and stuff.
I'm like, yo, I know, the nets stop. We got
a little fortunately fortunate. Then give the shutdown thing. Hey,
I don't know if that would be hard. It's a challenge,
like I promise you if you do. Like everybody, actually,

(48:55):
I'm telling you, like coaches coaching stuff also has to
do it as much as the players. Yeah, and you
will see everyone gets locked in. It's not like, you know,
let me get out of here, let me go home.
It's going to be let me focus on this. Okay,
I'm tired. I gotta go get a rested and and
then'll come back. It's one month. Yeah, the whole year

(49:15):
is hard to intense. It's intense. And yeah, the whole
years it's a little hard. You want to go home.
I'm tired. I want to go home. I want to
have to leave the first one even even we have
to do it, and I'm we're willing to do it. Man,
I don't think you would want to do it. Yeah, momoy,

(49:36):
thank you so much for joining us. And I just
want to say I can't speak for RAPHA, but if
you get a technical file, I got twenty bucks right here,
I want to chip in. Yeah, we want to do it. Yeah,
I want to go radio. We will, we will raise
funds for your tech. I have said it in my
broadcast sometimes and then I waste my money, will come
in and just like yeah, just get I don't even course,
I don't even have to play for too long. Yeah,

(49:57):
just come in and clean somebody out, make anybody think
about coming inside again, or if I'm going to say,
I think, don't do that. Yeah, mommy diathe, thank you
so much for joining us radio. Thank you, thank you. Hey,

(50:20):
it's Mondog, your favorite Cavalier puppet mascot and global icon.
As a rule, I never say that. I never say never.
But that said, I never ever listen to one Go Radio.
There's more of this. Oh my goodness, you better buckle

(50:40):
up at the cover. After this on Wine and Gold Radio,
did this blocome back to the joke, tap Perts, It's
time for Chap the Magnificent. Thank you, Ed. What is

(51:06):
the question? We've got questions from Twitter again? Follow us
on Twitter at Calv's Audio Versus at CAVS Audio Versions
and chop Tack the Magnificent provided the answer. Boom moving guard.
They're killing Alex Toma, Alex Tooma has asked on Twitter,
Alex which Cavalier, which Cavalier will lead the team in

(51:29):
three point percentage? Three point percentage? I'll tell you way
it is on a is on track. He's shooting sixty
percentful three point range. But I'm gonna put my hopes
in Young Garland, a pure shooter. Garland before the season over,
We'll lead this team at three point shooting, said, all right,

(51:49):
our next chut Sack the magnificent question. Jeremiah Jendra asked
how many pow many points points tonight? So well Garland
and Mitchell combined. Pour, I won't answer that. That sounds
like one of those betting apps right there to me,
Tim Jeremiah, Joe zach tonice the question. Seven Cavaliers with

(52:17):
an eight point leading the fall. As we started the
second ward, this is big Daddy Mario, and I'm the
announcer that says, now back to Wine and Gold Radio.
And I never listened to Wine and Gold Radio. Now
back to Wine and Gold Radio. Hold on, hold on,
hold on, everybody, and welcome back to segment three of

(52:39):
Wine and Gold Radio The RAFA Birthday Spectacular. Rose and
hey Josh, after the show, you want to help us
bank him right there in the pople Birthday to happy Birthday,
to happy but happy people, to heywhere we're joined in

(53:14):
Segment three Bear special guests Josh Sabo and I don't
know your job title at all, because I don't know
anybody's job title. I'm just hoping that Josh doesn't have
one of those two line titles that he deserves it.
He's pretty simple. It's just manager of game presentation and
music coordinator. He's the right person for the for the
cruchade that we have right here, right, I have to

(53:36):
tell you about made Radio exactly how long you've been
doing this? You've been here long this wow, because you
took right over from Andre. Mean you used to sit
next to Andre and then you took over. Did you
know Andrea was the Josh before Josh. Really, he was
the Josh before Josh. Yeah, but you've been up there forever. Yeah.
It was a crazy, crazy request to get in. They

(53:58):
basically said, do you know how to run the soft
where I'm like, yeah, okay, the wally pip up game
entertainment is right. If Andre ever takes a day off,
you might have to again and that well, we so
that's the jobs that I've been doing eighteen years. We're
having you on this this whole guest thing. We'll tell

(54:20):
about the crusade first, uh, to like get these changes made.
One of them was Cleveland Rocks. I wanted to get
the Ian Hunter. Cleveland Rocks says, I love that one
over the President's one, even though I love the presidents.
The other crusades are to get the halftime monkey or orangutan, right,
which do you think can happen? We have to Cleveland Metroparks.
Maybe they can get a monkey. Well, I've been doing

(54:42):
my research, and we have to find a show that
has a monkey. And like I think the probably worried
that that it's like twenty people cheering for it might
make it go nuts and it might run in the crowd.
I would rather have a monkey than that dude that
takes his sweat. And let's get him monkey throwing teachers.
We have him take the teachers of the monkey. So

(55:06):
we have that, and then then like our good things.
Is Raoul howl Neto. His real name is how you
know his story His story is His name is Howald Tony,
but Neto means grandson in Portuguese, so he's the third
his grandfather is Howald Tony. His father is Howld Tony Filio,

(55:29):
which means son, and then he's netto like grandson the third.
So he said that his first ever tournament that he
played in Brazil, they saw the thing is that they
put it since he's had netto, So I said, why
don't you change it? He goes his father always complains
about it, and his wife. Now that he's married his wife,

(55:49):
his name so and so Tony, so he wants she
wants him to change the name. So that's that's the
wine to go Radio Crusade. We want to get that change.
And then we just got one on today's show, which
is to get if Mammaddakey day As gets a suspension
or what would give it if it gets a league fine,
We're gonna help pay some of the fine, like twenty bucks,

(56:11):
thirty bucks something like that, but it won't be much,
but we're gonna help out. Any of those say that
you can help us with the Cleveland Rocks. Son was easy.
I I just listened to the podcast and then I
checked the next game and see if I had it,
and I was like, wow, this is already in here.
I could just play. How do I like, I have
to say I thank you so much, and I really
appreciate that. And it's almost like a hate to say this.
It's almost like a nat Cavs thing to do. Really

(56:33):
he did. Josh listened and he thought about it, and
he like, instead of just doing nothing, and Josh was boom,
he was right on it. Man. In the next game.
I was so happy. I was so happy to hear that.
So again, thank you for feeling one of our wishes.
Right off the bat. I actually thought that the president
of the President of the United States, the presidents, I

(56:53):
thought they had masks on and they were publican and
that's why he didn't want that version on. No, Like
I told you, I love the President's you know some
of their songs. Obviously you're a music guy, so I
love that band. I just don't love that version. I
love the Hunter version because it's it goes back to
this is probably this might even be before you remember
the kid Leo bit where he would do at six

(57:14):
o'clock on Friday's. Actually researched it before I came on here,
and I saw that, Yeah, that's where right, that's where
that came from. Is that the biggest w MMS was
the biggest radio station in Cleveland. It was kind of
big nationwide actually because back in the seventies and the
biggest DJ kid Leo, who went to New York after this,

(57:35):
he used to at at five o'clock, he'd say, okay,
punch out, wash up, and he would play Cleveland Rocks,
the in Hunter version, then Bruce Springsteen Born to Run
and then uh, the whole bit and stop and then
I forget the last band. But it was Friday on
my mind, and it was like those three songs every Friday.
And again, this is back when there was radio, when
everybody kind of listening to MS. It was you know, yeah,

(57:58):
people love radio back then, so like that was those
were the three songs, and that version of Cleveland Rocks
just kind of brings me back, Like, but I wanted
to watch you. Speaking of music, obviously, you're in charge
of making sure that the beat of the field House. Yeah,
it's it's it's upbeat. How do you how do you
choose if there it's like, is that something that you
do all the time that you're listening to tunes that

(58:19):
are coming out of classic tunes or Yeah, it's pretty
much a constant you're always listening to something and I think,
you know, in this business, it's like a constant going
to other teams, maybe even just in this market and
just see what they're doing. Um, but yeah, it's it's
it's a constant seven job. You hear something. You could
be at a restaurant or a bar and you hear

(58:39):
something and I kind of have an ever long notes
apple and I'm just kind of like, yeah, this would
be good in this situation somewhere. And then it's also
like working with our DJs who do like the warm ups,
which is more catered to the players obviously if if
you've been to a game, it's a little bit you know,
more more hip hop stuff for the players, and so
it's working with them on what they play, you know,

(59:00):
making sure that what they have is is safe for
for for playing arena because they're you know, they're just DJs.
They're coming in out of nowhere and they you know,
they're just playing whatever the hits are. So yeah, it's
it's it's a heck of a job. And it's like
I said, it never ends, and you're constantly searching for
something that's gonna not only be good for people to
dance to, which like because that's we're a big, high

(59:21):
energy building, but also something that might make sense for
like an opposing team turnover or like a misfree throw.
You have sound effects and stuff like that. Like it's
it's a constant, constant. We are very nice, you know
when you come to introducing the visiting team, because we like,
you know the other day when Miami whether we put
the heat's on rights that you like, you know, the

(59:45):
lineup is like there is Garland. You know, they're like
really like that. They don't even try to do anything.
Were actually very nice when you come to that. And
there's certain arenas that they'll play like a like I
think they're kind of mocking us when they play like
the Randy Newman Cleveland song what is it rolland River
or something like you know that song from Major League.

(01:00:06):
It's a kind of it's a Cleveland song, but it's
kind of a dour open. Yeah. A lot of people
like the face of the Guard. Yeah exactly exactly. But
like like um Oklaman City played Cleveland Rocks for us,
and that was kind of nice. Some people still and
that's why I was kind of like when I heard
your idea for the change. I'm like, this is I

(01:00:27):
like this because some people think Cleveland rocks the Presidents
it's a little corny. It's a little corny, and it's
and I feel like every everything that we ever see,
like if the Calves are on Sports Center, it's always
Cleveland rocks. Like the graphic with the stats or whatever
we do something good like and every like logo of
every event we have is a guitar, and they just
they get on veil. You know, we're having to find

(01:00:49):
out the women find out four next year here at
Rocket Marcus Fieldhouse. And they unveiled the logo this morning
and he had didn't have our guitar. That's exactly the
old Star, the old Star logan didn't how a guitar?
Are you there? I like the better that they included
terminal tower that he's more like. I like, yeah, that's
a good that's good logo. And sometimes things will sound
different when you're listening to them, like on your headphones
or in your car, and then you hear them out

(01:01:10):
in that big arena, you're like, this isn't quite translated.
I like I like the way that the Ian Hunter
sounded that, oh god, anything sounds good after a big wins.
That's true. That's true. We were like speaking of after
a big win. I don't know if you heard this
on the podcast, but we kind of And I was
gonna ask you about like songs that you like. I
know the and I love this, Like after a win,
I know the order of the songs as I'm walking

(01:01:32):
down to the you know, two coaches media, I know
exactly what song is coming next, and I love that.
I love that, and Rapha asked, So my first question,
I guess, is how do you determine which songs are mainstays,
Like there's a song that that Moondog and Moondog and
uh and Isaaca Coro and Darius Carlin Kanna dance too,

(01:01:54):
like they jump like I know the song, But like,
how do you determine which songs are just standards you
go to every game? And then why Billy Jean at
the end of victory, Ralfa, I wanted to go that one. Uh.
Let's start with that one. Uh, because Ralfa actually mentioned
to me in the hallway the other day, but that

(01:02:14):
one was I feel like it came around like season
and I very rarely get like player requests where they're
like someone has to hear, you know, Darius wants to
hear this now, and it's like that's it's really not
how it works. But like there was a player that
was here, I will say, a big part of the
championship team, not twenty three, but he was big Michael

(01:02:37):
Jackson fan, and he was like, I don't know where
we can use this, but I just love that beat,
like the first like minute Billy Gene like I don't know,
and it's just one of those ones where it's like,
all right, I'll keep that in the back of my
mind and I'll have it somewhere like ready to go,
and if I I'll try it, like you know, you
never know, like regular season is a good time, you know,

(01:02:58):
to try things. And so I just played it. There
was like, you know, twenty four seconds left, you play it,
dribbling it out. I'm like, it's another one of those
situations where it's like everybody's up and standing and sharing
it for winning. So it just kind of sounds good anyway,
Like I could here Michael Jackson in the house, and

(01:03:19):
there's a lot of things I played there that it's
like it doesn't quite fit with the only arena where
there's no fat ladies singing. It's Michael Jackson babies. Well yeah,
it's like sert Arenas have like a it's like a
tell when the game is in hand. You know this
song you all of a sudden you now you know
I always told you Yankee Stadium with the best because
when they win, they put Franktinatra's version of New York

(01:03:39):
New York, and when they look they put in Eli's version.
So yeah, I mean, some things will never change, like
the I love l a and for the Lakers like
you like I do. I love the song because they
have a like a song that's their song, you know,
Like have you ever heard that one that they play
at the end of that song? That one I kind
of like. And then they always talk about we have

(01:04:02):
the best thing. He's that angry, that angry man and
the wheelchair singing the anthem. Oh, he's a he's a veteran.
Oh man, you want to go out and either like
playball or or joined the army. When he gets he's
a double ampute legs and he comes out feels and

(01:04:24):
he comes out man, and he could he just crushes
the anthem. He is he really he's pretty cool. Like
other stuff that you say though, like you know, how
do you pick certain things? Like it's there is a
constant like conversation happening about almost everything, like knock on wood.
Cleveland Rocks has survived for a long time, but you

(01:04:44):
never know. There might be one year where someone comes
in and they're like, I don't like that as a
song anymore, so do something else. But like the oh
for Tuna Carmina, Right, that's one that I've always thought
is kind of like very much a tradition of this building,
and I like it. And we've had we've tried things
in there, We've tried to make videos and put different

(01:05:05):
songs and it just didn't It just didn't fit. Sometimes
it's a trial and error where it's like, yeah, we
didn't quite feel that, or you hear from people, you
hear from fans and they're like where was the the
O four to now? Like, Yeah, The funny thing is
that if you've been to an arena or stadium here
in Cleveland, is this guy who has been keeping you
on your feet or keeping you excited about him and

(01:05:25):
I share something When I used to do the brown
that he did, he did the doubleheader this season he
did the Browns game early and have to somebody covered
for him for like the first quarter, and he like
walked from from the stadium to here to do the
When was that for Hollow Weaturday before Christmas when they
had the Ravens game. Yeah, and we played Dallas at Yeah,

(01:05:47):
he did the doubleheader. I did. I did it once
the other way around when we played here the heat
and then we were playing the Steeler. That that's right. Yeah, Hey, Jash,
can you hold on one second. We have to pause
for a station I D Ruby and you're listening to
Wine and Roll ready Cleveland, Ohio. Okay, here's the thing

(01:06:15):
I wanted to ask you about this. Do you remember
a few years ago? Um, I don't know. I was
a couple of years ago in New York where they
tried the quiet game, the game with and the players
I think A Green complained that he was he was
throwing him off. So, like do you ever think about that,
like where you you have to kind of feel every

(01:06:37):
moment or the there are moments where you have to
be yes, they and there's it's usually a UM. We
have like during the pandemic, we came up with like
weekly meetings with like other game presentation people around the league,
because we weren't you know, there wasn't much going on,
so we're like, let's just talk about how to evolve
our shows based on you know, everything was going on.

(01:06:57):
So that was a big converse top topic converse station.
It's always like do you allow for like natural noise?
How often do you do it? Like a lot of
other arenas do it. More like even the nixt now,
like they're very they play a lot of organ and
then then other than that they'll do some you know,
just that sound and they'll let it go. So it
really just kind of comes down on what I think.

(01:07:19):
It really depends on just what kind of directive you're
getting from the top. I mean, there's a lot of
buildings that I've been to that are super loud. Miami
is very loud. We're up there also, We've always been
up there, I mean, but there are other buildings around like, man,
this is like topefully different. It's not what I'm used to.
So there's It's another one of those things where you
try it out and sometimes like and I don't really

(01:07:39):
want to say this, but sometimes like I don't think
it matters to the players, but like if we're having
like a if we're on the tail end of a
bad run, I might just back off just for that
and be like, all right, let's just see if we
can be like, you know, get some kind of rally
together here without me like pulsating the entire arena and
like that. And then you talked about this earlier out

(01:08:00):
having constantly been the lookout for new music and stuff
like that. Are you. I mean, most of what you
play is is pretty much hip hop, I would say, right,
and I don't. I don't know if there's a better
name for it. I'm an old guy, but like Oklahoma
City plays all rock. They don't play almost any hip hop,
So it's like, do you have to kind of is
that related to the fact that they do an invocation

(01:08:21):
before the game? Well it might be actually might be related,
but yeah, the Oklahoma City kind of does their own thing,
and it's kind of one of the only arenas that
I mean they played just straight rock and roll. Yeah. Yeah,
that's pretty much how it's been since. I feel like
oh six oh seven for us, like we really transitioned
a lot um, you know, when Dan bought the team
and we kind of like ramped up game ops like

(01:08:42):
three times what we were doing at the time, and
that was right around when I was coming in. So
it is interesting to see the disparity because doing baseball
and even to an extent, the Browns this year like
totally different, Like they want a lot more rock music.
They want a lot more like sing along songs because
bull are there's a little bit of old demographic and yeah,

(01:09:02):
and you're trying to just get people to have fun,
you know, when things are going so well, or when
there's like a really slow point, like what the days
that I work basketball here and then like baseball the
next day, it's like almost like I'm in slow motion
at the ballpark because things move so much slower in
baseball than than they do in basketball. So yeah, it's

(01:09:23):
a crazy disparity, but yeah, we we do. We did
a little bit of rock that year. We had the
Rock Hall jerseys, like we we tried to incorporate a
little bit there um and obviously like theme nights, if
we do like an eighties or a nineties type night,
we'll bring some more. But it just doesn't from our
you know, perspective, it doesn't really mesh well with our

(01:09:45):
show and how we're trying to get as long as
you don't get into doing that stupid bit that the
Red Sox have with sweet counter line. I'm all, I'm
all from whatever you want to try. I don't. I
don't like that sweet counter line. When do they do it?
Like it's just a Red Sox Yankees thing, or it
could be anybody the Yankees duty after the seventeen in

(01:10:07):
stri they do the caught on I cat on something
Joe and then everybody dancers. Then that's what they do.
You know the one song in Arena that drives me
insane that it just it makes it just makes me
angry to hear. It's probably like an angry it's an
angry song anyway. Is that one song they play in Boston?

(01:10:28):
And like I already hate the Celtics anyway, And when
they play the song from the Departed shipping up the
bus and yeah, is that drop Kick Murphy's Yeah, the angry,
real angry Irish song. That song just you'll never hear.
You'll never hear that in the basketball game here. You
may hear that on the hockey side with the Monsters,
but you'll never hear that because that's like one of
those ones almost like Sweet Caroline too, where Boston thinks

(01:10:48):
they own it. Yeah, so if we're gonna play it
like it's almost like there are some songs that everybody
uses and I think that, like it's Miami uses a
song that if I forget, how we go with the beat.
But literally they actually thought that I met, you know,
when I was living in Miami, that they thought it
was like a song created by the Miami Heat. It's
like the one they do when they're like rallying. I'll remember,

(01:11:12):
but it's just the beat. It's just the boom boom boom,
and everybody go, oh, I forget how we go? Oh yeah,
the Tambi Nation. It's like that army but everybody does

(01:11:34):
that now. It's like it's like it's it's really hard
to force a tradition. Like some of those things just
happened naturally. Like I'd be interested to see how Sweet
Caroline became. Like the Mets, for example, when when somebody
is getting relieved from the from the visiting team, they
do the queens and not the one bite us that's
kind of good, and they just do the beat and

(01:11:58):
everybody just goes crazy. That song they have at the
when the black Hawks win that for telling songs that, yeah,
that's one, you know that one, that's a good one,
and people fans know that, man, fans, and they relate
to that. It's like, it's amazing how they It also
helps if you have success, like I was. I helped
out one of our friends, who was Johnny Greco who

(01:12:21):
worked for the Negas Golden Knights. I went out and
kind of helped him get their music library started. When
they first started out and their search for a goal
song was I mean, they didn't really know what to do,
and they tried like three or four different things that
didn't hit. Finally they picked some song from the Killers.
But what helped was that they played well and yeah, yeah,
I just love everything. And so next thing you know,

(01:12:44):
there's a guy fighting a night fighting on the on
the ice and they were in the nation. Yeah it's important, man.
I mean again, it's you have an important job and
that you in many ways. You know, the team obviously
controls most of it, but you control the emotions of
the of the team, of the fans. The seventeen fans
are almost eighteen thousand or right. You're you're in your

(01:13:06):
hands and you've seen it at the Joe tape perch
where we're at. Sometimes that that emotion kind of like
you get really involved, like even play by play standpoint,
like you're you're in it, you get you're you're living
that game. And there are times when I turned up
the p A because it's just I just want, you know,
my my gig on the radio is to make people

(01:13:27):
feel like they're here. So I played the tiling line
ups and I played the anthem, and then whenever, whenever
there's something going on, I kind of like, you know,
like when when when who is it that came on
on the team the other day? He oh when Ricky
came back? You know, everybody was like, yeah, so's it's good.
Sometimes in this building, the fans make it easy, like

(01:13:49):
iaking of the fans. I don't want it to sound
that I'm complaining, but like we need to come up
with like an and again it's all generic, it's natural, nothing, nothing,
but like like we need to do a better job
when the team is not doing well to stay in
the game, because sometimes I think that our fans like
get out of the game as well. And that's the

(01:14:10):
hard part. When you're playing on the road, you know,
it's like, and I hate to say this, but like
Oracle Arena was just amazing. They're down, They're rarely down,
but they would sense. But at my point is if
they were down ten and they had a six old run,
they will get into it. And if they were up

(01:14:31):
six and they had a neat or run, they got
into it. So it was it was constant, and it's
like in New York. You would mentioned in the organ
in New York all that is it's like and everybody
goes and it just gets louder and louder. So it's it.
And again, but like you said, when the team does well,
that's when those things are born. We'll find out in

(01:14:53):
playoffs because that's that was always interesting being here for
the first time. We had a lot of success and
then obviously the last the last era, like four years, fans,
the fans like that fifteen, sixteen seventeen, like they were
they were it would I wouldn't say angry, but they
were like they were like at them. That's something that

(01:15:14):
I always remember and I feel like that's a big
you know, it's kind of like a big hockey thing,
like those fans are like they are ready to go Philadelphia,
you know in the playoffs right now with the NFL
to me Game six of that was the best. Yeah,
that was insane, standing and wearing the black T shirt
that they gave out and was just like people were

(01:15:36):
in the game again, like they owe us something. I'll
always remember this one and I'll give a little credit
to uh Steph Loss who was one of our DJs
who've been here for a while. That was right when Uh,
I feel like Lebron had the Undertaker shirt in one
of the press and when we came out, he played
the Undertaker theme and I'll never forget it. Everybody had

(01:15:57):
the black shirts. Everybody was going. That was like, yeah,
I fe feels pretty good about what we're gonna be.
Good night, and then I feel like the team went
on like an eighteen two. Yeah incredible. Yeah, Okay, Lou Well,
we want to hear some Billie Jean Thursday night and
next week and into the future. Man, Josh, thank you

(01:16:17):
so much for joining us. Then it was so good. Josh,
can you stay? You gotta since he knows everybody, he
gets to stick around for things. Yeah, let's see, let's
let's see every actually he gets that's true. Yeah, because
he'll know who's important and he knows who really makes
things go. We have to thank the PR Department first
of all, because I got us. I'm Gonny do Keith
Day this morning, who was excellent. And we know that
the PR Department is run by B. G. Evans with

(01:16:38):

now you. And then there's Komo wins the Really he's
the starus straw that stirs the drink. He's the best,
don't you agree? Yeah? He Sammy best. Sammy did lobster
slinging Sammy, who's bummed ull slicking Samy's bummed about time.
Brady retiring makes day. He probably gonna come back out,

(01:17:00):
but I think but he's I think he's eligible now
for Rookie of the Year. That it's like he Samy
could be Rookie of the year. He's got. We have
to thank Devin Booker, the real Devin Booker, Cavaliers diffent
book I like her. She's got you know what she's got,
He's got moxie. Like, hey, we have to thank Boo Banks.
We only I don't know what Boo does, but who cares?
Because we just love Boom you know, Robert J. Hageman

(01:17:22):

We probably wanted the guy that was jumping in the
harder than the highest when they put you and then

wrestling he is. We have to thank our special guest
Josh Shabo, Mom body aquite uh, Joe Fritch and my
brother love that guy. Lucy veris the best female in
