Speaker 1 (00:20):
Or a tramp, draw the bow and heaven poll blae
with a chance for the three point plane. Well, I
guess you better get out of the way this time,
just that I've had enough of this. Broadcasting live from
Rocket Mortgage field House on the sunny shores of beautiful
(00:43):
Lake Erie and for the pulling and posted amazing flumm
live in downtown Cleveland. You tuned in to Wine and
Cold Radio. Now you're your host and jo g Hey everybody,
(01:12):
and welcome to the first I Guess in season episode
of Gold Radio. Well, yeah, I mean we're hey. They're practicing. Man,
they're breaking a sweat. I think it was stealing a
new season. We probably are. Um just got back from practice.
First of all, I am Joe Gna right, I forgot,
I'm all get up. I'm joined of course by always
(01:36):
do you like said it? See it to my right,
which is wrong as we all, And like I said,
we just got back from uh CCC. Just got back
from practice. And let me just ask you this real quick.
When you played ball, did you love practice or hated practice?
I enjoyed practice. I figured you know what, I would
have guessed that. I would have guessed that, and I
(01:57):
was the biggest corner cutter of all time. Oh no,
I was. I was the type of I don't want
to say I was the Delhi type of practice, but
I always went hardy. You know, you're the guy nobody liked. Well.
I had more than one reason why I always went hard.
One was because my coach. This is the story. I
(02:19):
played all the way up to high school and back home.
I was. I played center, but I love to play.
I was like the the the wing guy. I love
to shoot, so I always played out try and I
was one of the biggest guys back home. Obviously, my
my basketball career ended when I moved to Long Island
in New York because I was like I had to
play point guard. Was no longer the big guy. So
(02:43):
but my coach in high school, who was a really
good coach, Roberto Carrillo, he used to train the military team,
was our coach. So are workout well and we My
when I was in high school high school is like
the guy from a full metal jacket jelly donut. So
(03:03):
we went to school from one to six in the
afternoon and went to seven and practiced from like seven
thirty to nine thirty. Wow. Right, and my coach lived
in my neighborhood, so it was the only way that
I could be in the team is it took me
home after practice. So I always had to listen to
him after practice, even after he had wrote us so long,
(03:27):
I don't have to listen to him, so I have
I have more than one reason, but I always did.
I'm not telling you that I loved them. Yeah, yeah,
but I play hard and I'm just you know, I mean,
like because again, watching Cavs practice, it's really kind of
a it's a fun experience because you could see the
guys personalities, you know, I mean, you see him in
the game, it's it's different in practice. One thing I
laugh about in practices that Jared and to some extent Darius,
(03:52):
their default face is a smile. Jery'll be grabbing a rebound,
will be smiling, you know what I mean, He's that
guy is a good mood all the time. But you know,
we made an appearance on the on the Chase Doown
post exactly with Carter and seventy Justin and and we
talked about the vibe and the mood and I and
I said something like, you know, it's like fun, but
(04:15):
it's business. Like, yeah, and then they're not goofing around,
they're having fun, working hard, and but they know what's
at stake, and they know you can't feel the the
you know, the level of seriousness and the level of
like staying loose and not take yourself too seriously. But
at the same time, it's kind of like what I
(04:36):
all my girlfriend you to tell me they didn't like
me because I never take it. I never took anything
seriously way, but I was always just you know, at
that age of like being loose and being serious. Yeah,
and I agree, And that's a really good point that
they're there. They have a good balance right now. They're
not goofing off, they're not slacking. There's it's always gonna
be light because Kevin and all those guys are always
kind of goofing around. But there's there's an over overwriting
(05:00):
seriousness and business sense to that way. Lily still tells
me that, by the way, so's like, that's why nobody
takes you seriously because you're always going around this. No,
this was honestly it was I thought, I thought this
Friday's practice was really a good one. And also, I mean,
we have the I can't imagine an NBA team having
more coaches than we do. We have we have the
(05:22):
hugest coaching staff. Do you think so you think you
think it's a Calves thing. I don't know if it's
a Calves thing, but it grows everything it might that's
what it might be. That it might be, and everything
so specific and so yeah, you know detail. Coach Lane
came over and told us that he loves the way
Donovan Mitchell moves laterally side to side, and he said
(05:44):
he thinks a big part of that is from his
baseball experience, which made total sense. He said, he he
gets down, gets down in the stance, moves laterally, very
like he would be so much better laterally if he
didn't root for this anitation. Who's got a better rec
it right now? I'm curious. I haven't checked. I have
to check. The Mets are being chased by the Braves.
(06:05):
Though I was gonna, you know what to see. I
was gonna even bring up the Yankees until you did
just now, and I was gonna say, man, I know
Aaron Judge is your guy, and I know you're thinking
he's give me. I'm giving you that, no way, dude.
He took it. He took it. He took a no
hitter into the eighth inning last night and and I
(06:26):
think he drove in like the winning run or something. Fine,
what we're at the Angels right now. It's well yeah, okay,
so and I'm I have to and I'm stealing this
from stan Van Gundy. I follow up and that's how
roaring you start. But but he's I'm not even sure
the top guy in the Astros. I don't follow baseball.
(06:49):
That guy with a with a sensor in his chest
that he didn't want to take his short off after
he hit. Maybe that's not how to okay, So so
why not that guy m v P. His record is
better than the Yankees because he got and to Aaron
George is leading the American League in every single offensive category.
He's probably going about it like it's probably going to
(07:10):
win the triple Crown. That if you take out the
buffet induced triple crown by bye by Miguel Cabrera. The
class one who to do it was Carl strenskin like
like six seven is so first on the team on
everything and in the American League. The other day when
he hit sixty sixty one homer that was to take
(07:31):
the lead against against against the Blue jay who are
playing for us. But I understand that everybody's in love
about what this guy is doing and nobody has done before,
but nobody has done. If nobody has done what George
is doing, it is doing it without steroids. George is
juice to no way the whost would never juice come
(07:52):
on that that he is the He is the actual
real home run king because everybody else was jews, even
though he was an amazing summer of ninety six just
watching them and waking up the next day reading the paper, hated,
hated it, hated it. Really look at those dudes. If
you couldn't tell that they're doing while he was happening,
(08:15):
Oh my god, you didn't think so he was just creating.
You didn't think two dudes that all of a sudden
looks like linebackers. Now, who's the one that was taking
pregnant medicine for pregnant women? He played here and then
he went through the Red Sox. Who was it a
money being money? What's he was like taking horse bills?
And why did he even do that? Man? Man, he
(08:36):
was such a natural great hitter without it. But Riy
Bond was to accept that he was like Goma be
That's what I mean. I mean, I went from like
normal people to like he went from going to hold right, no,
I like Aaron Judge and I'm rooting for him, and
and I think it's a funny argument. It's a fun argument,
but he probably does. Everybody is just amazing. That's really
(08:57):
what I'm saying. Amazing for the last three or four years.
And I gotta tell do something. And again, I'm a
Yankee fan and I'm proud of it. But it is
great to see not only how much he looks like
his dad, Roger Mary's son, his oldest son who was
following him. Have you ever watched the movie sixty one,
the one I was produced by with Billy Crystal. Amazing movie.
(09:18):
If you want to learn that every all the hell
Roger Marri's went through, he was like he was chasing
the babe to the point of that's where the asterisk
came about. With that. You know, they because Roger because
the babe hit hit sixty on Hunt and fifty two games,
so they decided just to keep that. The thing with
the babe, they put the asteris come because he got
(09:41):
sixty two. He didn't get to sixty before hunt fifty
two games. And the worst part about it is that
he was he passed before they actually came to their
senses to take the asterisk off of his of of
his record. He passed before they too, before they took
the asters. Horrible, horrible, and and and the difference now,
(10:01):
you know, because he was getting hate mail from Yankee
fans were Micky mental fans because he was him and
Mickey going at it and until Mickey get hurt, you know.
But it's a great movie. I'd recall that men high.
I don't have to be a Yankee fan to to
to enjoy the story around the whole of the baby
and two great actors kind of doing it. Was just
(10:24):
like him to do that. Barry Pepper, I believe, Yeah,
he looks just like Roger. He does. So that was
really good. Um, if they advance, If the Guardians advanced,
whould be cool. I'm rooting. I don't know, you're not, well,
I'm rooting for the Yankees, But I like this Guardians team.
(10:44):
I love I I tell people, I haven't loved a
Cleveland baseball team this much since I was a little kid.
I mean, I love their lovable. This is a lovable team.
I love everything everything about the Guardians, with the exception
of one thing Mustard. No, No, I love most you know,
there's no hot dogs, their condiments and all that. But
(11:07):
just the fact that and I I went I didn't
go at it, but I kind of tweeted back to
Andrew not we gotta have him on the show. But
we talk about this, about this urgency of people in
the media to find a nickname for the team. When
that just comes naturally, they call him the guard Dose,
which I think is like the guard Gards, guard dolls guards. Yeah,
(11:28):
it's just you know, I like I like KINDERGARTI KINDEGARTI
and the Guardians. Yeah that's kind of yeah, but that's
something kind of like the Gardia kids, and it's like
a generation Guardia kids. I've heard that one. That's a
great one too. But the guard doos gotta go, no, gotta,
we gotta happen. We gotta have him a name. It
are going out on the radio and they even made
a song about it. But it's just bad. It's bad. Yeah.
(11:51):
I told Andrew that he should be banned from Progressive
Field for for calling him guards But no, I I
don't really like that one. That really um, hey, before
we uh, because you mentioned Carter and what do you
call him? Seventy ninth happened. Let's say, do you actually
check the number? Yeah, of course I like to. I'll
(12:12):
update it right now. So we were on the Chasedown
pod on earlier this week with those two guys, love
those two guys in the Chastown pod, and we kind
of broke down media day cents. Okay, So getting back
to the the cabs and we broke down. We went to
we had media day earlier this week on Monday, and
we were on the show with those guys and they
(12:33):
broke down some serious quotes or media various serious X
and we're taking him over that. Are we going over
the top with that or are we like also going
into serious stuff. We're not going to do serious We're
not smart enough. We're not smart enough to do serious stuff, dude.
So yeah, so let's uh, let's get to uh, let's
let's talk about some some clips. Let's let's talk about
(12:55):
let's set it up first, set it up, go ahead,
We we immediate day, we had to hear it for
the first time. Rocket Mortgage field House much better than
a Cleveland clinic courch because he was getting painted with
all the new colors and you know gold is back
and every So we had our table next to the
Spanish station. Its great. I loved our table too, by
the way. And what what what what it is is
a small version of of two Pro Bowl media day.
(13:18):
There's no there's no there's no chick dressing, wedding dress
or like or anybody like me with a mask or anything.
But we just got we had a table and they
could dance into the table. And the first one we
talked to again, this is all serious matters that with
this cost, with our players and coaches. The only one
who was really serious with j B is Coacha. We
didn't want him yell at it. But this is Carrie's LeVert,
(13:40):
who was a new guy, and this is what this
is what we talked to him about. We can't let
him go without asking. The Columbus Michigan thing is. I
know you're chomping at the bit, right He'll give you
some background Carress and that this guy came here from Miami, Miami,
New York, New York, Miami and right away he started
dog in the buck eyes because he doesn't like that
(14:02):
the uh sloopy thing. Oh I don't now he's I
don't really know what that means. Nobody a song, but
I don't know what it means nobody does either way.
So he's a big Michigan fan. How do you then say,
how do you reconcile being a Columbus native and being
a Michigan man. How did it happen? How did it listen?
(14:24):
Ohio State did not conflicted. Ohio State didn't recruit me,
so it's it's different. I mean, I could see if
it was between the two, but that was never an
option for me. It was never go to Ohio State,
and I probably wouldn't have anyway because it was too
close to home. I kind of wanted to go out
at but it was never a choice. Wow, so you
(14:44):
got a chance to what amazing blue man? So yeah,
so you root against Ohio State? Root against him? I don't,
especially when the football team plays. I like watching him,
but I don't really root against him, maybe just for
talking talking trash. How the hell did state that recruit
that dude in Columbus Because Ohio State, I don't say
(15:08):
it has never been a power of basketball power, but
they have been at the level of Michigan. I agree
with that one, But how the hell could you let
him slip out of your fingers. He's right, you would
like to convince the kid to come from I mean
they were right, you grout the local kids the beginning.
Where I can understand losing him to Michigan, I can't
understand not recruiting him. Yeah, because kids a good, good guy.
(15:29):
Oh he's the best. He's really the best. And I
think he's having a real good camp. But you know,
he was telling out the story how when he wasn't
when he was a Michigan camping Russell kids right right
through the team, and he's like you you know you right,
So that's kind of cool. But Carriss is he's a
great kid, and we we did talk to him also
about you know, hey, how hard is it, you know
coming in mid season. You know you're learned a new offense,
(15:52):
new guys, new rhythm, knew everything. Then he got hurt. So, uh,
it's really cool to see him in camp feeling very
comfortab what you can tell Jerry OsmAnd was one of
the three cavaliers that got married. We had they're doing
there's a study being done at the water at c
or the locker room here at Rocket Morgage field House.
Because there were three engaged players, you know, out of
the three all three got married over the summer, Kevin Love,
(16:15):
Jerry Osman and Dim Wade Dim Wolf now Mrs Wolf. Yeah,
we had news on the Wolf. But Jenny came to
the table and this is what this is what he
had to say. How was the wedding? Man? It was beautiful? Yeah,
it was beautiful. So, um, we did we did the
So we got married officially in um in Macedonia. Uh
(16:37):
you know what, I was born um And you know,
actually it's a pretty interesting story because her first trip
outside of Turkey was really born. Yeah. Yeah, And and
we did officially we got married in on the lake
and then we did the wedding into a key. So
(17:00):
it was it was yeah, it was beautiful. That ame.
That's awesome. But right the city, like how big a
city is it's it's it's not a really big city,
but it's a it's a beautiful place. So they have
a like a huge lake almost like a sea. Um.
So a lot of a lot of I mean, great nature,
(17:22):
great people. Almost everything out of this country is really
beautiful man, but not really. I mean, but I think
definitely you should see the seat. I mean I think
that you you really like it. The Capture organize like
a preseason game in Turkey, existent you know, I mean,
so we all go, you take all you show us around. Man. Yeah,
(17:45):
I mean, actually that's in Macedonia, so maybe we can
go over there for preseason. See, dude, you're always thinking
that's beautiful. You're always working a nice angle. Man. I know.
I love you for that. Here's I got to do
a confession on this because talking about Jetty and dried
Oh good, you're helping me out with these pronunciations. Uh,
(18:06):
I have to confess my I guess xenophobia or ignorance
or whatever you call it. Now, you're a well traveled person.
You've you've been around the world, and I've traveled internationally
a little bit as well. But I'm a dumb American
when it comes to this and that whenever I hear
about like international play, or when I talk to Auntie
(18:28):
ZiT about his hometown or right, every time I remember
Sasha Pavlovich, that was the one that stands out to me.
And every time again this is I I admit to
being a dumb American. Every time I think about their hometown,
I picture something like Borat. I picture like this old
Eastern European broken down women, women in Babushka's you know
(18:51):
what I mean. That's and and then you pay. You
see a picture of beautiful where like where these guys are,
and it's like a painting, right, It's the most beauty, beutiful, modern, contemporary,
cool place you've ever seen, Cooler than most places in
the in the States. You're not alone there because when
I moved to New York, I was in high school
(19:11):
finish high school here, and I always got the questions like, Wow,
where are you from from most Salvador. Do they have
cars there? You know? Do they have like everybody automatically
thinks that, And I think the picture that I that
is hear ounders of. And that is why this season
and I'm sorry like taking like the the exit here
the fork in the world. But that's why this season.
(19:32):
Part of my community work is to promote learning a
second language, because I think it's so amazing too to
learn about other cultures, to be able to communicate to
other cultures, to learn and to see because I gotta
give it to you. One of the biggest differences, and
maybe not lately, but one of the biggest difference that
the US has always had with all these countries, including mine,
(19:52):
is that most of these countries are torn down by
war and most of them still fighting age old words wars.
So people think of that, that's what you see on
the news. Nobody, nobody gives you videos of ve Slovenia.
We have the biggest population of ve Slovenians outside of
Slovenia here in Cleveland. And I bet you not many
(20:15):
people that you walk around here know what a beautiful
country Slovenia. If you went out, if you went out
on the street and ask people, what is Slovenia like?
In their mind, what they're going to describe is cold
and broken down, so old Soviet Union car Siberia exactly
exactly cold and and you know stuff like that. I
(20:36):
think that's a result of the fact that nobody talks
about that. You know. Also, it was so much fun
to see Jetty Jetty acting kind of normal. They kind
of they kind of bottled him up this year, man,
because normally he's in his disco wig and everything. A yeah,
Dylan Winder also stopped by. They want to go radio
table on the media day. And this is a guy
who didn't have to get married. He was already married,
and I forget what we talked to him about. Let's listen.
(20:59):
How is your off season? How was your summer? It
was awesome. Yeah, I was in Nashville most of the summer.
UM got out to Turks and Caicos with a few
of my teammates, so that was nice. Other than that,
really one of the few guys that didn't have to
get mad with the summer because you were already made
exactly exactly it was. I got it done. It was
it was like getting married summer. Yeah. Yeah, you should
(21:20):
have had like a triple wedding, like all of the
guys together. I was. I was at Dean's wedding, so
I was into Kansas for that UM, so I didn't
go to Kansas. Other than that, I didn't I didn't
travel out of the country much more than Turks Keikos.
So see, my I'm mind to dad like that triple
wedding is not a bad idea, like seven brides for
seven brothers, like a triple Cavs wedding, like Dean but
(21:41):
Kevin and Jetty all in one one ceremony may'd be
pretty bad as all different style weddings, right, you know,
but obviously the New York City wedding for like Kevin
and I feel bad because, like I wish you had
asked me for some hell, I would have given it
some money to like raise the budget on on the
wedding instead of library the party. Have you ever been
(22:02):
to a party at the New York Library? No? No, never,
Jolie Raphael used to throw parties at Oh my God.
One time I ended up in the third floor reading
the dictionary. I bet, I bet I know what preceded that. Yeah,
I'm following. Yeah, but your city. If you ever get
(22:24):
invited to a party at the New York Library, I
don't know where you are got the party done. It's
really had nothing to do with books done. Dylan. Know,
just before Dylan, I thought he's also having a nice camp.
Just watching him today shooting, well, that guy A a
root for him, and everybody does. But I was going
to say that the team is equally I mean, they're
(22:45):
they're competitive, but they're so supportive of him, man, you
know what I mean, they really they want this guy
to succeed and that I have put him up there
for the competition, so it's not like Kee's coming in
and thinking I'm not I don't have a channel, and
they're giving him a chance to compete for that three spot.
And when he's a minute, when he looked good, He's
looked really good and he I like the way he
rebounds to you, he's like a sneaky rebounder. He led
(23:07):
his comforts and rebound. Yeah, he rebounds well and and
and and he pushes the ball well. So we're hoping
that he can stay healthy, which is what he said.
He's finally coming into a season like Evan Moubli, Evel
evil mob. I don't know if you included that part,
but he approved that approved well, since you did, and
(23:30):
I'll tell it we. I told him that he has
two nicknames in the Spanish broadcast. He has a smooth criminal,
which is when he makes the moves inside the paint
and that's a little beautiful turnaround shot, or Evil Moubli
when he just brings the He likes smooth criminal better.
Peovil Maubli sounds better. On the love evil. We want
(23:51):
him to turn into evil Okay, let's let's hear let's
listen to Evan your brother being in town and that
that has to be I know we always talked about
stuff when you're playing baseball, when you were kidding, like
the bottom of the nine throughout. But do you guys
were dream or talked about playing together in the NBA?
I know you played together in college. Yeah. Um, we've
(24:13):
definitely dreamed and talked about it growing up. Might now
would be super cool. Um, we never expected to actually happen.
We didn't even know if college would even happen. But um,
for it to happen all the way up until now,
it's it's it's amazing. And um, I feel like not
a lot of people ever get to have that happen.
So what was draft night? Like? When did you When
(24:33):
did you know it happened? Uh? Like a few picks before.
I really didn't know, um until like that night. Um,
and it was amazing. Uh the video came out, it
was it was cool, like everyone was so brain it was.
It was a happy moment for our family. Does he
get any breaks because he's the oldest one or are
you still gonna you're gonna do You're gonna be he's
(24:55):
gonna be a rookie. I hear. Yeah, yeah, he's still
gonna have to do some rookies. UF already already did mine.
So it's just her. So what what what does he
have to do as it? Donuts? Is it? Um? Yeah?
Probably donuts? Um. I don't know whatever the vets really
tell him to do. Yeah, it's the first time in
your life that you finally get to tell him. Round guys.
(25:17):
I don't think guys do the I'm sure they don't.
They don't do initiation like they used to. It used
to be where guys used to have to, you know,
chase all kinds of stuff. They'd make them go buy headphones,
things like that. They had to were And then I
remember that Joe Harris here's they had to wear the
little pink backpacks, the little door the explorer backpack. The
last guy that had his car filled up with popcorn,
(25:38):
and he wasn't too happy about not happy about it. Yeah,
but he wasn't happy about much of the duty. But
I remember that one specifically made him very unhappy. And
he was right who filled the car with popcorn? Veteran. Yeah, man,
but I love that stuff, he said. I guess Uh,
I guess Lamar and Darius to some extent are kind
(25:59):
of the initiators. Ye, what I know is that we're calling.
He was supposed to bring two dozen donuts and he
only brought one dough and he kept bringing just one dozen,
and Tristan didn't. Tristan and I know he's a donut guy.
Then we go to Toronto, they get they bring the
team Horden's Donuts. Fantastic. You're don guy, know that, But listen,
(26:21):
gringo breakfast. Jared Allen, the Fro mud Squad, he's another
guy that has adopted the Spanish nickname. But I meant
to talk to you about that. I liked the nickname,
but maud Squad sounds better. Yeah, but I call him both.
But Patria Who We Need is the name of the
of the show, mud Squad, That's what it was calling
(26:42):
in Spanish. So and everybody back home, everybody who had
a an Afro we called it. We called him Patria
Who we Need? How didn't we know he was named
mods squad nuttil I came here. That's such a great
nickname today and he looked like the guy today. After
practice he talked about that. He finally has someone in
Robin Lopez to talk about Twilight Zone episodes with old
(27:03):
Twilight Zone episode about that. He likes goofy about everything
and so I love him on he's the best. He
spent a long time with us. So I have a
couple of clips from him. Does he listened to the
first one? But you had a good summer, great summer.
I can't complain. What do you spend it? What do
you what do you A little bit here, a little
bit in Texas went to Australia for basketball with that
(27:24):
board that's right? How was that experience? It was excellent.
I got to see the kids down there was sixteen
seventeen years old. Just a different style of basketball. Yeah,
a little more Delhi. I didn't hear about Delhi. They
we're talking about. How what was that trip? Like, I
mean again, that had to be that's a massive long trip.
(27:46):
So from Texas it took what like twenty hours just
to get over there. You know, I know for a
sum quarter that's not that can't be easy, right, Oh yeah, yeah,
I was good with late flight seats, it was I
can't complain about the travel at all. Okay, and then
what is the style of just like Rougher. I mean
it's not like Australian rules kind of No. No, it's
not like out there. No, it's like, uh, the kids
(28:11):
weren't as athletic as they are down here, but in
terms of playing basketball, knowing where they be making the
rights fundamental, it was so much better than our age here.
You really, yeah, the kids ages here. Jared has one
thing that you also. You have one thing in common
and that you both have laughs that make me laugh
(28:31):
every time Jared laughs. The funny thing with Jared is
that whenever we're doing a press conference, it happened on
zoom most of the time, but when we're even when
we're in person, like the moment they say next he's done,
something starts laughing because you know, if you're gonna bring
us something weird. But we had so many topics to
(28:52):
this cause with musquads that we kept a conversation going.
You know, I'm still requesting and I might my request
is being processed. I don't know for us to interview
the space station. Oh yeah, yeah whatever you man, do
you follow them at all? No? Man, the pictures they
(29:16):
posed and the stuff they talk about like it is
from the space station. Yeah, I'm gonna show my igrance here.
Is it just Americans in the spaceation or is that
a not even Americans? So it's I s S SO
International Space National speaking. And there are Russian Asians everybody
everybody yea, so now they're but recently as politics and
(29:38):
like that, other other countries that are going to have
their own SACE station because I saw didn't the Russians.
Probably pretty soon you're gonna be talking about like traffic
reports from up there, the right many satellites there are
up there. Let me ask you this, because again you're
(29:59):
obviously a fan of space travel and things like that.
If Elon Musks was going to shoot another one up
or because a couple of guys I don't know, zos didn't. Okay,
if they said because they've taken didn't they take William
Schattner up? They took him up? Could you go? No question?
Really I have to miss a game? Yeah, I'll go.
(30:21):
You gonna find me for going to space so you
don't have to get one of those aster at things
that's spinning around. I would do it. I would do
in the heartbeat. I think that is amazing. Jan and
I differ in terms of whether that is going to
space because you know, you go zero gravity. It's not
(30:44):
like you know, the International Space Station. Those dudes are
living up there and that's still zero gravity. Right, Yeah,
but these the guys have been going, just going all
the way. How you know, if that you can actually
spend like those sometimes yeah, perio gravity and then you
come back down it's still daring, I mean, and just
taking that flight up there and then it's still amazing.
But it's I just want to go so I can
(31:07):
see from up there the way we see the moon
you see the Earth. It's amazing to me. It would
be just the thing that the wildest thing to see
the Earth the way we see the moon here, it's
like a little part up there. That would be I mean,
maybe I can talk to Carey and tell her, you
know what, I knew you were going there. You want
(31:34):
nothing to do with it. And do you notice how
excited he gets when you talk to you, because every
time we talk about space and stuff, we both follow
the I S S. And it is incredible. Obviously he's
much he doesn't even know much about it, not me,
but I'm I'm petitioning an interview with the astronaut and
he wants to be in it be cool and I
think it would be an awesome an awesome episode of
(31:55):
One and God Radio. If Jared went into space, he'd
be the first NBA player to do the second thing
because he was the first NBA player the first time
to go into the locker room with a quad injury
and come out with a broken finger. Yeah, that is right,
Toronto Captain Hook. Captain Hook, I like that naming. This morning,
(32:19):
I asked him and during the media at scrumb if
he liked the Moniker's He enjoyed it. He also, I'm
trying to recruit him to come down and and and
and tag team with me for against Search to Sea
so he can then fall. I can't support have a
good friendship with Moondog. So this is what Robin Lopez
one of the twins. Now, I have worked with both
(32:40):
twins because I was with the Nets when Brooke saying
named bright kids and really good guys. So this is
Robin Lopez. I know you've been probably been asked this
question so many times, but how did the beef with
the mascot started? Like who was the one that got
you like so against mascot? So wait, you should switched
(33:03):
to Sara scenes. Do you know Moon Dougg is a
really cool dude staras see, I'll go with you with
that team, like you know, wow. I mean, I'm not
trying to burn any bridges burny offensively game here, So
I'm gonna say mom on that issue for now. But
a couple of years ago, when Brooke was in Brooklyn,
Brooke Andre Blanche and the Nets stumped out the Pistons
(33:25):
mascot Hooper. And I was in Portland when that happened.
So we came to play the Detroit Pistons in Detroit.
All of a sudden, Hooper Hooper, out of some miss
misplaced sense of pride, starts stepping towards me. If you
start trying to cause trouble with me, of course I'm not.
I'm not gonna let that slide. I'm not going to
shrink from the challenge. And I took care of business.
(33:46):
I handled business, and then it just kind of started.
The ball rolled from there. It became a blood feud.
And you know, I don't know what to expect any
time I step on the hard word, but I'm always prepared. Well,
you know, I know a couple of he's here in Cleveland,
and I can I can arrange for like CC to
make it down there, and then we can appreciate that.
(34:07):
Leave C C C. He's a good guy. Hooper is
kind of a he's kind of a Jerkoper don't know,
go ahead and say Cooper, and even Mini Hooper is
kind of like Mini Hooper. I gotta say we had
a love I should say this, but we're not. We're not. Yeah,
we had a pr girl who worked here, Minnie Hooper
hit on her. Well, no, that's the thing. I see
(34:32):
these mascots and the mascots don't know their boundaries. I
see the mascot there are games, you know. I saw
the Oklahoma City Thunder mascot hitting on Kate Upton. These
mascots are hitting on our men, they're hitting on our women,
and you know, I just I don't I can't stand that.
I can't stand you gotta love that. You gotta admit
he comes with a really strong argument. Yeah he doesn't
(34:52):
like say, I just like beating him up. He's got like, uh,
you know, he's got him itemized and everything. We gotta
have more. Robert, do you like Roller? Captain hook better Roller?
I think I mean you hear the coach, he's just
calling him Rollo, like it's not even a that's but
I love captain who is And he liked it to
when you when you suggested it today, you could see
(35:15):
he lit up that he like that. He also said
that somebody called him sponge Rob. That was pretty good.
He liked that. That one wasn't bad. I don't know
Robert Pong was going to be different, difficult, and maybe
let's go. I don't know. My Mitchell a great time guy.
(35:36):
Nobody's perfect, Yeah by his not by his own fault.
I guess bye bye birth, almost birth. He is a
fan of the Mets character flaw right and nobody's perfect.
I thought my grandma used to say they broke them.
They broke them all when they made me made you
(35:56):
to say I'm trying to get a metal picture because
I was stay on the golf course. Also when when
that Trey went down, my worst round of golf by
the way, ever after that, I don't even know what
it was, but I was going to ask you that
next every round I hit is the worst round of golf,
and it's just a new low every single time I
(36:17):
go out there. I was gonna ask you how how
you hit him? What hole you're run? What was the
like paying a picture for for people? So I'm in
the pro shop. Okay, um, my agent says, I'm gonna
give you a call in a few minutes. So I
buy my golf balls or whatever. He gets the cart
and we're about to get to hold nine. So we're
playing the back nine. I believe. I want to say,
(36:38):
you're playing the back nine. And I'm sitting in the
cart and I have a few people with me, but
I tell them to go go ahead. And all summer,
the people that have been with me, they're like every
time I calls, they know, waiting for the call. So
they're sitting there like I'm like, yeah, I'm fine, I'm
just go ahead, go up. So he calls me, it's like,
you're going to Cleveland and then I'll call you back.
(36:59):
I'm like, what do you You're going back? So I
said that sending everybody up and called me back. He said, yeah,
going to Cleveland. This is what the trade looks like.
This is who when at this Sue sting, this is
who's going. Um. So I catch up with everybody and
I tell everybody. I'm like I'm going to Cleveland and
like what Yeah, because at that time, you know, like
(37:20):
we all thought it was going home. Yeah, that wasn't
the wasn't the thought. And I take the golf club slinging,
like screaming, like I'm playing with Darius Garlan, I'm playing
with jaredy Allen Evin Mobil. You know we're gonna be
really good. We gotta talent, we got a lot of
things we can accomplish. And I said, I'm just gonna
hit a golf ball. I went, I think I could
(37:41):
have easily swung and pulled my I hit nothing, but
a completely missed it. Um And you know that's how
the rest of the round went. To be honest, it
was terrible because I was just I was getting calls
text I was like, you know what, I'm just gonna
I was like, you know, I'm gonna enjoy the moment.
I'm not gonna answer my phone. I'm gonna enjoy golf.
And then my mom's calling, my dad's love talking, I'm
(38:05):
talking about Brick, I'm talking to all these people. I'm like, man,
all right, you know what, forget the round, I'll catch up, alright. Yeah.
I was also distracted by the Danovan Mitchell trade as well.
Otherwise that you played the same Well yeah, yeah, exactly.
But I just blamed it on that. I gotta share
something with our audience. I told you we have the
(38:28):
media they here at Rocket morgans field House, and they
would like at least fifteen stations between somebody shooting three
sixty degree video to every single headshot that you see,
to our tables and four of the tables, including Kenny
Rhodos doing like forty five minute interviews. You do the
media day, Hey, if you're not gonna keet Kenny Rohodoff,
(38:50):
he he will interview someone. I think Kenny Rhoda still
sitting out on the floor interviewing somebody. If Donovan Mitchell
would still be out there, they don't know my Mitchell
was out there. They were break down tables, they were
breaking down the setup, and he was still and then
he had to do something for batties and he told
some dudes that were sitting their way because don't wonder
about him coming back, and he came back to talk
(39:11):
to the guys. Man. I told people the same story
and that Donovan Mitchell again, this is media day for
for veterans, especially good veterans. They come, Yeah, they come,
take a couple of photos. They'll do a couple, they'll
do the podium. They take advantage of that. I'm letting
the young guys exactly exactly. So most of the older guys, veterans,
good players, will kind of do a couple of stations
(39:33):
then cut out, which is fine, It's expected. Donovan Mitchell
went to every single station and then like you said,
he took to Kenny Rhoda beating, and then after that
he came to us, and then after he left us,
and this was four o'clock in the afternoon. Normally veterans
are home by four in the afternoon. They were here
at nine am doing exactly. Donovan Mitchell did everybody. He
did us at four, and like you said, he did
(39:55):
the mix zone after us and still did batties after that.
But it was a great kid. Wow. One guy that
is back is Ricardo Rubio that means blind in Spanish. Yeah,
Richard Blonde happy to have him back, and we talked
to him about many things too. He spent a few
minutes with us, so we had like a Kenny Rhoda
(40:16):
type interview with him. So this is the first bite
that I that I chose for you when you were
traded Ricky to Indiana. In your mind you were you
were you always hoping that you were going to be
back with this group, and what was your experienced with
with Cleveland. Well, my mind when I got traded, it
wasn't just what's next for me? It was like, let's
get this right and then see what's happened. I wasn't
(40:37):
really thinking, um. I really put emphasy on my psychologists
and far on on a mentally par and in that area,
and one of them was like, don't worry about the future,
just stay in the present and and do what it's
right right now. If I could be reincarnated as someone,
Ricky Rubio wouldn't be a guy to come back as
(40:59):
because of hair or everything. But the hair. He's cool.
He's Ricky Ruby. Yeah, I mean he's really cool. You
know what what I like. He's the type of person
that you can actually get something from out of him
whenever you meet him. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Like it's not I'm not talking about anything material, but
it's like his his way of handling himself, his way
(41:21):
of sharing his knowledge, and you can tell how this
guy what's his name? Donovan Mitchell said, you know, Ricky
Ruby has a pretty good track on on on bringing
up rookies because he was him and then Darius Garland, Right,
but but you you always get something then, h Devin Booker,
this is this is the next clip from Ricky embarrassing.
(41:41):
I'm aually looking forward to playing with Donovan and a lot.
By the way, Yeah, we got to teach them. Really excited.
I had a lot of fun with them in Utah.
I like because the chemistry that we had in you
to kind of remind me the one we had here
(42:03):
where everybody was kind of like not even like friends.
He was more going on in the court. And bringing
these two guys over here, it's going to help a lot.
And I've been practicing my how. I like that. I
just noticed it that he said it in a Portuguese
acts and listen, listen to him. By the way, how
(42:27):
we got to teach them? How? How it's that good?
You think the fact that because he's Brazilian we say how,
as opposed to I would never have known name. I
have to pronounce you have to pronounce it. Well, I'm
not sure you're saying, are you saying that it's different
in in Brazil, the R is like an age in English,
(42:51):
so how but in but let's say, I'm saying, but
we pronounced him how because he's from Portuguese from Brazil. Okay,
I guess just to say any thing that somebody being
named Pierre, right, or a French name, that you have
to pronounce it with the French accent as opposed to American,
you're supposed to write. And this is what you've been
saying for years now that I believe that, I believe.
(43:13):
I'm asking you if it's I think you're correct in
that Andre Himenez, it's like that's the American way. Well
what he mean is he menace? Yes? But the fact
that American announcers again, I'm going back to what I
said earlier about being ugly Americans and that we say, well,
you know what, we don't care how you pronounce it.
(43:35):
This is how we pronounce it. That's what's bs. It
should be pronounced the way where they pronounced it's pronounced right.
So when I say Raoul, I'm glad that Ricky tightens
me up. It's fun. It's more fun to say to
dance on the table I Media day. If I want
to go radio man, got bottom line out of everything
you can you want to get something out of these
clips that we just said. Obviously serial material like Beyond
(43:59):
Next as a ouse, It's a good group of humans.
That's it, man. I'll tell you what you said it
as we were wrapping up on on Monday, you said,
there's not a knuckle head in a bunch. There's not.
Normally there's a couple of guys. Wre's always there's always been.
There's always guys that just are tough to deal with. Man,
when they march out their own beats, it's like, that's it.
(44:19):
And it's not it's nothing against them or us. It's
just they don't just different. They're just different. And this group,
there's my twentieth season, there's the best top to bottom
groups since I've been here, as far as just cool guys,
guys that like each other, Guys that get it. You
know what I mean. It's it's it's a good group
and a group you can root for. You know, any
(44:39):
more topics? You want to talk to you before we
before we hit out. Garrett yeahs, Garrett Way, Hey again,
I'm a lead foot. I drive like a maniac. So
everybody drives like a maniac and everybody, Oh my god,
I'm believes a responsible That's what I mean. I don't
get into that kind of Well they're texting, they're texting
people that tweet about the picture of his accident. That's right,
(45:02):
while they're criving. Yeah, like the whole you know again,
And I'm I'm a big believer of the cast first,
let cast the first tone. You know what I mean?
You don't live in glass, right, It's like everything I've done,
I can't really criticize until they've done something I haven't,
which my grandmother used to say, Man, I wish, I
wish I didn't have a scene because I was stowing
(45:22):
a bunch of guys. So anyway, so that's the Browns
is coming up this weekend. Uh, they might have two
two rookies in on defensive end. If yeah, if what's
his name does not they're playing the bird the falcons?
So what else? What else? What we're gonna talk about?
(45:45):
It was another topic. Oh we were gonna talk about
to Uh, but I don't know if we should bring
that up right now? Well, no, it's dangerous. Yeah, we
just wish them the best. Yeah, I wish them the
end of that was scary last time in the NFL,
and again your former team in Miami Dolphins. Their attorneys
right now are in discussion. Hard to they you know,
the NFL just put put something out saying that he
(46:06):
went he received concussion protocol treatment, and but they also
said that that they were when people dying of of
of concussion, you know, of recurring concussions, or that he
was okay to play again. It was four days ago.
And the way he the way he got up and
stood up, but he got smacked through. He's not I
was more worried about. Yeah, I know, but he was
(46:27):
baddy slam and he hit the head. He hit with
the head first, so there was no flag for body slamming,
you know, but when you watch, but that was that
is if you want to talk about protecting the quarterback
when they throw flags, when they put the face in
the mask, I mean the guy grabbed him from his
right side and him wong him on to the other
side over his body. So I mean you're talking about
(46:50):
professional I mean protecting the quarterback. There wasn't a flag
thrown on the play. And I know it's football. I know.
Whatever you want to call it, but it is a
very It was a very violent sack. You know, now
the throwing fluce for somebody landing on top of the
quarterback or you know. And two weeks in a row
he's been hit the same way. Well, you grabbed from behind,
(47:12):
and I guess he's not a big guy. He's like
throwne Yeah. Well again, you better believe that the NFL
p A and those lawyers were talking about are thinking
about making that a penalty. They're going to figure out
a way this. You can't sling a guy. You can't
swing a person like that. And and the dude, first
of all, two is not very big. And I don't
know the name of the player who slung him, was
(47:34):
a massive individual. I mean even for a defensive lineman
was here. Dude, he didn't literally like a rag doll.
I mean, that's that's what it looked like on the video.
I wasn't watching and when I obviously my phone started
going off and let me go look at it. And
first of all, Prime Video. I checked in like a
little bit after the play and they were still showing
the replay. And and and al Michael is probably the
(47:55):
first time I can say this is that I can't
believe if you what is it? Do you believe in me?
A close guy? The only thing that came out of
his mouth was like, oh when when when they the
close up of his hands, Like, oh man, it's hard
to that disconnect from his brain and his muscle and
whatever his his body. But it was hard to watch.
Why did he keep replaying that? Yeah? I mean? And
(48:19):
the thing is I kind of wanted to see it
a couple of times, and then they showed a couple more.
I'm like, stop showing this because it's horrible. They don't
show when there's like a broke, a fracture or whatever,
but they kept showing this guy trying to trying to
figure out what the hell was wrong with We're wishing
the best. They said last night that he had recovered
movement and all his extremities, which is a great thing.
(48:40):
But I would be shocked if two of doesn't sit
out at least four weeks he had he has, I
will be shocked you're moving or whatever. I'll be very impressive.
He plays again this season, and you can't listen to
him either. You can't listen to him say I feel good.
You can't. But he shouldn't listen to the Dolphins either.
Either way, Well, somebody needs to make an executive decision
(49:04):
because again, you can't you can't. You can't play that
kid again right now, especially after he was playing on
a on three days rest. That's exactly exactly. So, like
I said, Dolphins, uh, legal team are going to be
a lot of things I need to be reviewed. But
if you're gonna throw flags for guys landing on the quarterback,
you should throw flags for swinging across the room. Although
(49:25):
did you think it was had he not been injured
on that play, would you have thought it was a Yeah,
it was. It was about it was it was a
land and it was like, I mean, it was rough
looking anyway, speaking of brain injuries, we have a couple
of knuckleheads. We have to thank you before we get
out of here. But none of these guys nobody in
(49:45):
the PR department because that that is a cracked group
of individuals right there, starting with b J. Evans who
runs the PR department. As you know Rafa with when
he brings it down on you too. Taran the Straw,
the Stars, the drink. I love him. He's the best
slinging Sammy Uh, he's a big Fields fan, is he is?
He and he's got ball skills. The other day I
(50:07):
was watching him spin the ball in his Oh yeah,
he could play man. As we have to. We have
to thank the Golden Boyd. He couldn't join us this week.
He's uh, he's busy with actual work. We have to
thank the Madison's Madison Phillips madisone curly our cracked social team. Uh,
my personal hero, Joe Fritchend Social Team. Now he's not
(50:30):
They're computer team, but they're they're they're an offshoot, They're
an arm. They're an arm of the computer team. We
gotta come up with her names. They love being called
the computer girls, the mad Girls. There you go, my
personal hero, the head of the engineering department, Joe Fritz
and Joe I love you, Man Casey Coolist. And Peter Bourbon,
who's a fictional character. Like bring him on the show,
(50:50):
Peter Bourbon. When I get to see him and physically,
like touch his arm and feel that he actually exists,
I'll believe it. Otherwise there is no Peter Bourman. Georgia
Nashley talking about the Computer Team. They are the main
cogs of the Computer team. Rob Hageman, Joe Machner, who
set up the hotline. I have I have an idea
(51:11):
to blackmailer to to kind of tempt people on the
hotline coming up. They really do. I'm not gonna say
it now. Mrs Lucy Barris, who joined us last week,
the best, the best human in Cleveland, the guy that
makes us all go top to bottom, the backbone of
the operation. D Mac, my personal hero. D Mac. Before
you go on, I just watch a replay and if
(51:32):
you looked at vironment on the on the angle, that's
what I'm saying. If you've just seen it live, I
don't know if he didn't. Okay, before they start going
to me like what the hell is talking about? Yeah, yeah,
I get saying the video here in the studios. Yes.
And finally, the dynamic duo of Dirty Kurt and Big
Daddy Big Daddy four match winning winning street. Let's go
(51:57):
Big Daddy really yeah, good for you, Big Daddy. Ah yeah,
it's so good for Big Daddy. You don't get a
pun And he's like eighty four. Let's see you guys
next week. And as always, good night, pretty MC. Wherever
you are all y'all, just back. Jr. Fires J. Smithlasity.
(52:22):
You're listening to Wine and Gold Radio, and this one
is Homer Believe in Cleveland, savoring soupod in Cleveland w
his Hope place sucks all right, fid napp the bindo.
Then go around my god, no we boy. Coda, Mary B.
