Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is a results business.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This game is about results.
Speaker 3 (00:03):
We know that, but I think you're doing yourself with
this service if you're not hyper focused on your process.
Speaker 4 (00:09):
This is the Coach Kevin Stefanski Show. This is your
chance to beak inside the playbook at team headquarters in Buria.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Good evening, and welcome to the final Kevin Stefanski Show
of the preseason, brought to you by the Browns VIP
Tailgate Season Passes now available for the ultimate pregame experience
at the Great Lakes Science Center. And you are listening
to the University Hospitals Cleveland Browns Radio Network Nathan Zegura
alongside the three time, three time three times Super Bowl
champ Gerard Cherry, and Tonight, I think we have a
(01:25):
show you are going to enjoy. Not only will we
get to hear Jerrod and I get you ready for
the preseason finale against the Rams. But you're gonna hear
from head coach Kevin Stefanski and then an interview that
is one of the more fun interviews I've done in
my time here with the Browns with Aiden Huntington, and
he's one of those young guys that has become one
of the great stories of this offseason and I think
has put himself in a position to make the twenty
(01:48):
twenty five Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent out
of two lane. So that's when you are certainly not
gonna want to miss. So that's what we got coming
up for you. We'll also give you some stock up
and step up, and we'll tell you the top position
battle to watch other than quarterback because quite frankly, now
that is not a battle girod Since the last time
we talked, We've got a starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
(02:09):
It will be Joe Flacco. In many ways, this was
the quarterback competition that never was because on day four
of training camp, Kenny Pickett suffers a hamstring injury does
not participate in team drills again, Dylan Gabriel missignificant time,
Shador Sanders didn't get reps with the ones and really
didn't seem to be in that competition for opening day.
Quite frankly, it felt like it was between Flacco and
(02:31):
Pickett anyway, with that tough start to the season. But
Joe Flacco was there. He was the best quarterback in
terms of every ability that you could check and imagine.
He was there, especially availability, Gerrod.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
The best ability is availability, and Joe certainly provides that
throughout the course of training camp. And obviously he'll play
in his first preseason game. But if you look at
his body of work during a course of training camp,
you walk away from an impress You walk away on
a daily basis saying, yes, Joe Flacco is the best
quarterback out there.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
And if you played.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
Eighteen years in the league and if you still have
your throwing ability at a high level, you should be
the best quarterback out there. Obviously, the knowledge of the game,
the preparation for the game is like no other for Joe.
So I'm looking forward to seeing what he can offer.
But you're absolutely right, and Nathan, the quarterback competition was
derailed due to injury, and again in training camp, the
(03:23):
best thing that you can do is stay healthy. That
plays a major factor obviously in the course of a season,
your ability to stay healthy. And I've seen so many
guys not make teams lose positions because of what the
inability to stay healthy. So you feel for Kenny Pigott
because I'm with you in that regard as well, that
I felt that it was really a two man race
all the time. And they're yes, if you sold saw
(03:45):
some promise out of the young rookies that you yeah,
they might get an opportunity or a look if you will.
But getting hurt certainly didn't help their cause either. But ultimately,
I am more than happy with Joe Flacco. I'm happy
to see him back in the Brown's uniform. And I
still have Flaco fever, and I still that Joe Flacco
could take us higher, to higher heights.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
And Joe Flacco four and won as a starter for
the Browns back in twenty twenty three when the Browns
made that playoff run through for three hundred yards in
every game, So you know he can still do it.
The Paul looks, he looks like a quarterback six' six.
Statuesque he can throw that, Football, gerrod and, yes he
will be the starter And i'll tell you. What he
will also be the starter in the preseason, Finale So
(04:24):
Joe flacco is going to. Start as for the, Quarterbacks
Dylan gabriel will play, second and Then Shoudor sanders will
come in and play. Third Kenny pickett will not play On.
Saturday and we talked, about you, know being, available and
one of the, things one of those old, sayings Right,
girod is you can't make the club if you're in the, tub,
right can't make the club from the. Tub and For Kenny, pickett,
unfortunately that's been the. Case he's done everything they. Want
(04:45):
he's been a great. TEAMMATE i think that he's still
somebody who can start in this league fifteen to ten
and as a. Starter just it feels like With flacco
winning this competition and these young rookies looking as good
as they did in the preseason opener and then the
second game as, well For Dylan gabriel confirming you know
why you drafted them and what you saw on tape
that it's kind of a nebulous like Where Kenny pickett
(05:07):
fits in.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Now, yeah it is a heck of a precarious spot
to be. In if You kenny picket because on one,
HAND i think BECAUSE i put on my lens AND
i say to, Myself, okay he's not, Playing so maybe
he has some type of assurance that despite the, injuries
he'll still be around BECAUSE i think about, It, okay
IF i know THAT i have to go out there
to play in order to secure a, SPOT i don't
(05:28):
care IF i have a hamstring. Issue i'm gonna figure
out some way to get down on that football. Field but,
obviously in his, case he's not taking that, Approach so
there's a bunch of question marks with. IT i can
see it going one way to where he's on the
squad because you appreciate the veteran.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Ability that he brings to the backup quarterback.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Position in that do you want to entrust two, rookies
even though they've played phenomenally well throughout the course of
this training camp and in the preseason. Games do you
still lean on a veteran who's been there and done,
that especially in early on tough sledding of the. Season
so there's a lot to think and consider. There but
at this point you feel for the man because, yes
he never really got the chance because of his body
(06:04):
given out on him with the hamstring, injury and that's
one of the things that we said was differentiator for
him in That unlike the other, guys he was certainly
known for his ability to run the football and that
actually ended up hindering him from making it as a
starting quarterback in that competition with the rest of the.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Guys you, know you're exactly, right and since we last
talked as, well a lot of things have. Changed. Right
Isaiah bond is now A Cleveland brown and will play
after just three days of. Practice, gerard this was a
guy who was many thought would be a second round
pick in the twenty twenty FIVE Nfl. Draft played At
alabama Under Tommy, reese then was At texas last. Year off, field,
(06:42):
obviously accusations were levied against, them were very, serious caused
him to go. Undrafted he was exonerated of those charges
and signed with The browns on a three year guaranteed,
deal which is not typical for an undrafted free, agent
but tells you what the brown think of his. Talent
they vetted, Him Andrew berry saying they vetted him so.
Thoroughly they, involved you, know light detector tests and a
variety of other measures to make sure that they were
(07:04):
getting a player that they could, believe and then he's,
here and it's almost you kind of look at this
rookie class, Now, jorrod and you say, yourself you Got Mason,
graham you Got Carson. Sweessinger we certainly Hope Quinchawn, judkins
who had his legal issue resolved as well as back.
Soon then on top of, that now you've Got Isaiah.
Bond you've Got Dylan, Gabriel you've Got harold fan and
you've Got Dylan. Samson you've got You Door. SANDERS i,
mean if you said a year ago that would be
(07:25):
The browns draft all oh and the future first from The,
jags you would say that was. Impossible But bond has
unique speed for three ninety at the. Combine he is
a home run. Hitter whether it's a short, play just
get the ball in his hands or you can throw
it to him down the. FIELD i really think they're
gonna get him ready to have a package OF i don't,
know ten to twenty plays For week, one and this
will be our first look at him here against The.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Rams, yeah you certainly want that because one of the
things if you look at our receiver position right, now
who is the four to three guy who is to
take the coverage off the defense, guy who's the one you, Say,
okay if this guy gets it run out of the,
cab it could be a major.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Problem he represents that for.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
Us, now that doesn't bode well for the other guys
In rooumin that we're clamoring by a guy who just
literally walked on the team a couple of days. Ago
with that being, said, though, yes if you Are Andrew Berrying, company, certainly,
yes let the young man know that they, gay we want,
you we appreciate, you and, yes we will also work
you into this. Game And i'm not surprised by, That.
NATHAN a lot of, times many of the, like why
(08:25):
do you isn't it a danger to? Play at some
point you gotta go out there and, play and you
just can't ease walk your way into. It you literally
have to sometimes just say you know, what this is
gonna be a, challenge, yes, physically but, ultimately if you
get over the physical, challenges it'll make you a, better
stronger football. Player and the quicker he gets his rhythm
and timing and understanding With Joe flacco, down the better
(08:47):
we will be for.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
It, yes AND i Think Isaiah bond listen with that
contract they gave, him, Folks he's on the fifty three man.
Roster so The browns HAVE i think five receivers that
are certainly. Locks and we got a young, Guy Gauge
Larva dan who's trying to force his way onto this,
roster AND i think has made certainly a very good
case to do just. That so veterans are gonna, starters
are gonna play twenty five to thirty, plays according To Kevin,
(09:10):
Sefanci so it's about a quarter's worth of, work maybe
even a little bit more than. THAT i think if
it goes very, quickly if they go, well like let's
say they come out and, flack it leads them right
down the, field boom, boom, boom. Touchdown maybe you see
him for just the one. Possession we'll. SEE i don't
know that every veteranal. PLAY i, mean certainly there are
plenty of guys THAT i can. DO i don't. Know
we definitely don't need to See Joel, Botonio Miles garret
Or Denzel. WARD i don't think we will in this.
(09:31):
Game as The. Browns those are certain some guys you
just don't need to see those guys would be in that. List.
Now The browns also made a. Trade they traded Away Juwan,
briggs their seventh round pick last year out Of. Cincinnati
that paves the, way by the way For aid And
huntington to make this football. Team and then we're gonna
hear from him at the bottom of the. Hour an
impressive young guy draw this last. GAME i know that
(09:54):
there's not a ton obviously so. Much it's a full
they talk about all the. Time it is a full,
evaluation it continue evaluation. Process but it does seem to
me that you've got an opportunity here to make one
last statement and make the team, say you know, what
if you're a guy that you, know maybe they were, saying,
okay maybe we can get this guy the practice. Squad
do something here that gets the attention of everybody in
(10:14):
THE nfl and, says you know, What you're not going
to get this guy to the practice.
Speaker 7 (10:19):
Squad.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
NOW i, remember going back about a decade ago in twenty,
fourteen it was the final preseason. Game there's a running
back by the name Of Isaiah, crowell And i'm pretty
sure The browns at the, time in Fact i'm very
sure we're looking to get him to practice. Squad he
ripped off a seventy eight yard touchdown If i'm not,
mistaken somewhere in that range against The Chicago bears in
the preseason, finale and it was, like, well he's going
to be on the. Team guess what ended up being
(10:40):
the team's leading. Rusher so this is that last. Opportunity
what's the mindset of a player right now who's trying
to make things hard on A gm and trying to
get his spot here in The National Football.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
League it's a flat out go out there in. Ball
it's really that. Simple go run around like it's your
last chance ever lose yourself to borrow FROM m AND.
M it is one of those things where you have
to go out, there not be nervous or, scared but
go out there and be ultra productive and just show
them the reason why you should be on this football.
(11:10):
Team AND i get excited when you talk About huntington
in particular and because of the fact of what he's
done with his body of. Work so if you are
in a spot right now where you find yourself, Saying,
okay what DO i have to do to make a.
Statement go out there and your physical play should make a.
Statement and how do you do? That you do that
with not great, effort insane. Effort we talk about all the,
(11:30):
time this idea of match their. Intensity, well one thing
you certainly don't want to do is match The rams
intensity Because i'm not sure where that's even gonna be.
At but you want to go out there and be
insane about yours and go out there and grab it
and take.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
It, yeah you're, right and, listen you are going to
be playing people on The rams team that have names Like,
Dresser win And McAllen. Castles so they are not necessarily
trotting out the household names. Here they're not even trotting
out the backups to the household. Names i'm not even
sure they're triting out the third string backups to the
(12:02):
backups to the household. Names this is going to be
the four. String they're not even coming for twenty four.
Hours they would like to come, HERE i, believe run
the football and go. Home and so this is an
opportunity For browns. Players you got to dominate these, guys
right like this should be where you're putting your best
stuff forward against guys that probably will not be in
The National Football league come this time next. Week coming up,
(12:23):
next you're gonna hear from the head coach of Your Cleveland,
browns will talk about his expectations for his football. Team
what does he want to see in this preseason, finale
plus a little more insight on the roles the utilization
of some of these veterans going. Forward that's when you're
gonna hear from the head coach Of Kevin. Stefanski, now
kickoff to the twenty twenty five season is just around the.
Corner don't miss a single, play get your seats your
favorite matchups today that home Opener Baby Brown's. Bengals come.
(12:47):
On this Is Cleveland browns Dot com slash. Tickets now

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Network welcome back to The Kevin Stefanski, show presented by
The BROWNS Vip tailgate and you are listening to The
University Hospitals Cleveland Brown's Radio. Network time now to hear
from the head coach of Your, Browns Kevin. Stefanski all, right,
coach pre season. Finale finally a game at. Home it
feels like we have been on the road for quite
some time. Here what are you hoping to? See you've
mentioned obviously that pretty much everybody is going to play
(13:36):
except for those they would probably be pretty obvious that
don't need those that kind of. Work what are you
looking for from this football team against The?
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Rams, WELL i think the fun part number, one like you,
said is being back at, home being in front of our.
Fans you, know we haven't been down to the stadium
in a. Minute we didn't typically we've gone down there
in the spring for a. Practice we weren't able to
do that just with some concert. Schedules but we'll finally
get down. There some of our coaches figure out where to,
park you, know new players figure out where to, park
(14:03):
where to walk, over so it is important to get
this one under our belt at. Home but the idea
that we get to go out on a beautiful, day
it looks like in front of our, fans is exciting for.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Us what do you want to see From?
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Joe, yeah, boring, operate you, know get the ball to
our guys in, space get us into the right, plays
all the things that go to orchestrating that.
Speaker 7 (14:24):
Position is there.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Any kind of a discussion it's a preseason game where
you would talk To sean and be, like, hey let's
just not beat up the quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
BECAUSE i don't. Know this is just me.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
TALKING i know if you're able to watch any Of
cincinnati and watch it On. Monday but there were two
plays in particular where there could have been big shots
On Joe burrow And Jane daniels and clearly they pulled up.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Interesting, YEAH i did not see.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
That, listen it's.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Football we understand the risks involved when we're playing this.
Game it's our job as, coaches is our job as
an offense to keep our quarterback. Upright joe knows how
to play this. Game but when you go out there
and you're on the, field it's.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Football, yes it.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Is there are things to still be decided. Here this
is the final. Opportunity but, yes it's. Great we're going
to see the, Stars we're going to see the people
that we know are on this roster headed Into. Cincinnati
but there are some, decisions and some young guys in
particular have made some of these DECISIONS i think probably
very difficult in a good. Way what do you want
to see from those guys who have carried some Momentum
And i'll throw out names that i've seen Gage Lyra
(15:21):
dan on, Offense Aiden huntington on.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Defense, YEAH i think, again the fun part for me
as a coach and us as coaches is we've seen
a lot of these, guys not just the, games and
obviously our fans if you're able to come out to,
practice see a little bit. More but we've been watching
these guys perform since really going back to the, draft studied,
them get them here In may for The Rookie Minni.
(15:44):
Camp they're here all, spring so this has really been
a long evaluation of our. Players and then the fun
part is when the lights are on and it's game,
time you get to see them. Perform So i'm excited
when our guys make plays like that there's a bunch
of young guys that continue to show up in practice
and then show up in the. Games AND i think
when you're doing, that you're being, consistent and you're saying to,
(16:06):
us and you're saying to your teammates, that, hey my
game travels to this game.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Field all, right we've seen the young. Quarterbacks we've Seen
shador have a nice. Game we've Seen dylan have a nice.
Game joe is going to. Start do you have kind
of the plan in your mind of what's going to
happen after?
Speaker 3 (16:20):
That, Yeah joe will. Start the game flow is going
to be so important how it unfolds in terms of
When joe comes, Out But dylan will go in After
joe is, out and Then shoudor will come in After dylan's.
Out so these guys have done a, really really nice
job quarterbacks in, general but the rookies have done a
really nice job and doing everything that's asked of, them
working extremely hard on their, craft and they've both had
(16:43):
their opportunities in the Games shador Versus, Carolina dylan Versus,
philly and then get them back out there for hopefully
about the same amount of snaps in this game as, well.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
When you put a, quarterback young quarterback into a pre season,
environment take operation out of. It what are you looking
to either.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Confirm or to.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
Learn in that?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Environment i'll say this. Way for, example there are certain
things in terms of With dylan right when you watch his, tape, rhythmic, anticipatory.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
Totally, calm.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
ACCURATE i saw those things for shadur ball, placement, poison the,
pocket confirmation of what you saw on tape that made you, say,
hey this guy could be a good quarterback for.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Us, WELL i think the big thing for me would
be the guys that we saw in those games were
the exact same guys that we've seen in. Practice and
that's the important. Part you want to be able to
take the practice field to the game. Field and both
of them performed exactly HOW i would want them to
perform and HOW i would expect him to. Perform does
that mean they were? Perfect, no there are, prays, Man
that's the fun part that we have as, coaches like
(17:43):
to get these guys, better to develop. Them and there's
plays that right when they, HAPPENED i knew, It, okay
we got.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
It we gotta get that.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Fixed or that's Something, okay you made a play, Here
but think about, this that's ongoing development with our young.
Players BUT i think both of, them what they did
was exactly What i've seen do at.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Practice SO i was watching a video That hall Of
fame Quarterback Kurt warner did and it was about a
thirty minute video on us In, philadelphia AND i was
fascinated by some of the. Things and he talked so
much about going, empty which we do a fair amount of,
here and what he liked about. It what do you
like about being in those empty? Sets and he was very.
Adamant in his, mind he only he liked so it
(18:22):
was two by, three always sliding the protection away from
the three side because he thought he had multiple quick
answers on the three.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
Side it was just interesting.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Football i'll have to check it out BECAUSE i have
a ton of respect For kurt AND i think he
does an awesome, job SO i will check that. Out you,
KNOW i like empty if the quarterback likes, Empty, yeah
that's one of those. Things some guys just see it really.
Well it obviously spreads people. Out you can be in
three by, two you can be in one by four at.
Times SO i think there's really the comfort level of the,
(18:53):
quarterback and then our determination on where to slide the
center is based twofold on where the hot ants are
and where the quarterbacks read Is so what you want to,
do and you, know if we're just talking, ball if
you've got a four down front and you need the
center to slide one way or the, other you're going
to let him slide to the, left and you're going
to make sure that the quarterback's eyes are to the
right to, start and you're gonna make sure that the
(19:14):
quarterback has a hot answer to the right to, start
because what you don't want to do is have the quarterback's.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
Eyes to the.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Left he's hot to the, right doesn't see it and gets. Hit,
now there are times where some quarterbacks like to put
their hot on the back side so that they can
get hit harmlessly in the back as they're using their
hot to the, left and that does happen at. Times
if you're doing, that you better make sure as a
quarterback that you know when that hot, occurs because in
(19:40):
the case where you don't know that you're, hot that's
a free and clear hit on the.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Quarterback do you find these young guys like empty because
they've been in shotgun their whole, lives, probably AND.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
I don't think you're gonna find many quarterbacks that don't like,
Empty so THAT'S i guess the bigger question becomes the
concepts out of empty that you. Like do you want
to get the ball out of your hand? Quickly do
you want to push the ball down the? Field do
you want to have a lot of option? Routes do
you want to have more things that are. Locked that's
really based on preference of THE.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Qb and that's got to be probably an interesting balance
because when you juxtapose that and those decisions and the
brevity of those decisions with the under center marriage of
the run and pass kind of more that back to
the defense play. ACTION a quarterback who's going to succeed
doing both of those is going to have to have
a real mastery of being able to paint that, picture repaint,
it but also make quick decisions if you're in the
(20:27):
empty without a.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Doubt when you're an, empty the threat of the run
is not existent There now can the quarterback, run, Sure
but that you're telling the line you're, like, hey pass,
rush and you're also telling the line potentially to drop into.
Zones you'll see some linebackers when you get, empty go
pat the defensive tackle on the butt and, say, HEY
i need you to drop.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Here and now we're dropping.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Eight so you're certainly playing a different defense than you,
are say when.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
There's the threat of the.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Run there are so many different ways to get into.
Empty there's so many different personnels to get into. Empty
there's things that you can try to manipulate the defense
when you get into. Empty BUT i really think it
goes back to what the quarterback is comfortable, with because
they're the ones that make that thing.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Go so when you go into a game like this
and you do play some of the, starters we're Tead
bernie in yesterday and he said one of the things
that he loved in that final preseason tune, Up he's,
like you, Know cincinnati's gonna watch, it but they know,
that you know that they know and you, know and
you can go back and forth forever like The Princess.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
Bride so what is?
Speaker 1 (21:23):
There is that chess match overblown in the media's mind
or is that is there something there that maybe we're
showing you something that you think we're showning, you but
we're not showing you because you think we're.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Shown, yeah over the, years we've definitely done things in
this last game that we want the defense to. See
there's also plenty of times where we are just super
vanilla and we just don't want to show. Anything, hey
we're not going to motion at.
Speaker 7 (21:43):
All we're just gonna line up and.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Go so it's really based on what you need as
an offense in that given. Year this year took the.
Approach we had a full game, plan and there's a
lot that are that's on the call sheet that we're
gonna take off the call. Sheet we don't want to call.
It we want to save those, things but we on
it this week these guys to get the reps of
the install and run those plays in. Practice, now having said,
(22:05):
that there's plenty that we're going to do in this
game that we probably could do In week one as,
well because it's just a core part of who we
are and And cincinnati knows that about, us and so
does the rest of the. League and, conversely there's THINGS
i know that they're going to do based on what we've.
Studied the difference this year being that they have a
new defensive coordinator In Al Golden down In, cincinnati so Coach.
Speaker 6 (22:27):
Golden's been in THE.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Nfl have you, know has a history in THE, nfl
has a history at The, bengals was at The Fighting
irish and did a great job. There so there's always
there's always uncertainty going into a game where there's a new,
coordinator but it's also, football and we feel like we've
seen a lot of football over the past, month both
at practice versus Coach swartz and then in these preseason
(22:50):
games At carolina and At.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Philly how the team respond kind of that transition into
a real, week because this is your first glimpse that
these guys going through, that those machinations getting ready for a.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Game, YEAH i was really pleased with how the guys
handled the. WEEK i thought they stayed in the, moment
they worked very hard at what we asked them to.
Do and also different than a regular season week we.
Did we still did a lot of WHAT i call
browns versus. Browns still a lot of competitive. Periods so
when you're in the, season you're running off of the,
card so the scout team looks at the, Card hey
(23:23):
run this. Play they go run the play versus your.
Defense we will do, that but this week we did
less of, that and it was more, Of, hey this
is Our browns offense versus Our browns. Defense let's still
get better while in the structure of a given, week
so that they felt the rhythm of the, meetings they
felt the rhythm of the.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Practice coach should be a lot of fun down there On,
saturday getting in front of the fans again in the
final tune up before the season. Opener thanks for the
time as, always and good. Luck, yeah Thanks nathan all,
right great to hear from the two Time coach of The.
Year coming up next a young man who may very
well have played his way onto the twenty twenty Five
Cleveland browns undrafted free agent aid And. Huntington you're not
(24:00):
gonna want to miss. This that's next when we return
on The Kevin Stefanski, show presented by The BROWNS Vip.
Tailgate season passes are now available for the ultimate pregame
experience of The Great Lakes Science. Center and as, always
you're listening to The University Hospitals Cleveland brown's radio.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Network you really try to evolve year to year and
we just have to adjust based on three your.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Rosters so who are our best? Players we want that
on The. Field welcome back to The Coach Kevin Stefanski,
show presented by The BROWNS Vip, tailgate the ultimate pregame
experience at The Great Lakes Science. Center this is The
University Hospitals Cleveland Brown's Radio.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Network welcome back to The Kevin Stefanski, show presented by
The BROWNS Vip. Tailgate you're listening to The University Hospitals
Cleveland Brown's radio. Network got a chance to catch up
with young defensive Tackle Aiden. Huntington take a, Listen, aid
and first of, all it's been a real pleasure watching you.
Play give our fans some background, Though give us The
aid And huntington the quick bio here for everybody who's
(24:56):
just becoming familiar with number sixty.
Speaker 8 (24:57):
Six quick bio came from two was That ulm And
Kin state before. There just blessed to be In cleveland,
Again ohio, again and just grateful for the.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Opportunity all, Right so let's go back to your undrafted
free agent, recruitment because that's what it.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
Is in this, case you get to, choose right and
the team gets to.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Choose what was it About cleveland that led you to this?
Choice BECAUSE im gonna tell you. Something you're jumping into
a pretty loaded defensive, line.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
RIGHT i, think you, know BEFORE i came To cleveland
or even had talks About, CLEVELAND i had talked to
Coach Jock amo a couple of people, before and they
were kind of in the, middle AND i just had
this feeling, inside you, know you, know IF i were
to go on, DRAFTED i THINK i always KNEW i
wanted to come To cleveland and you, know just playing
the tag defense and just show my, abilities you, know
(25:41):
through this.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Defense all, Right so let's go to the first preseason.
Game six tackles tied for the team leading with another,
Rookie Carson. Swessenger you get a sack in that. Game
four of those tackles come on special. TEAMS i, mean
you didn't used to see guys wearing number sixty six
out there on special. Teams when you went back and
kind of went through the tape of that game In,
carolina what was your big?
Speaker 6 (26:01):
Takeaway it was kind of.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
Surreal you, KNOW i kind of Let, god you, know
do his work through, me just allow me to play.
Free so you, know the abilities that not just have,
one but multiple special teams, tackles you, know that's something
you don't really. See SO i just that's a testament To.
God that's a testament to Coach Bubba kyle for trusting
me to go out there and just you, know just
do my, job but also make please within my job as.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Well then we go To, Philly so now you're, Going you're,
like all, Right i'm on the field with the Defending
Super bowl. Champs, right what were those joint practices like for?
You and what did that tell you about? You and
where you belong and how you do belong here in THE?
Speaker 8 (26:36):
Nfl, RIGHT i, think you, know every, day you, KNOW
i come with the with the. MENTALITY i just got
to prove. MYSELF i got to earn it every day Versus,
philly Versus, carolina The browns Versus browns. PRACTICES i, think you,
know just to, myself you, KNOW i let it. COMPETE
i let it see WHERE i stack. Up what DO
i have to do to get better every? Day and you,
(26:56):
Know i'm just it's just a blessing just to be
able to do the joint practice is to get reps
and you, know to have some. Success knowing THAT i
have a long way to go to get to the
POINT i want to get to and.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Then you guys go out there and hold them to
eighty eight yards right In, philadelphia the whole defense flying.
Around what was it like getting out there for you
in that? Game and did you see things that maybe
came out Of? Carolina you, SAID i like. THIS i
wanted to work on this to see kind of still
that arrow point.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
OUT i, think you, know you, know talk about the.
DEFENSIVELY i think we've done a good, job you, know coming,
together playing together the past two, games continuing to know
that we're not satisfied with with with that and just
being content with. That we're going to continue to grow
and get. Better and you, know just for, MYSELF i
just want to continue to work on my, process learning
how to string my rushes, together work on my run,
(27:44):
technique work on my path, level just, work continue to
utilize my, superpower my, athleticism and just being able to
just go out there and just play free and just play.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Fast all let's talk about that, athleticism because you tested
crazy at your pro, day and So i'm gonna say
you're not big enough to be a defensive. Tackle and
that's fall enough For earth and long enough to be
a defensive. End and yet your athleticism keeps showing up out.
Here so when did you know and before were you
like you know, What, YES i do have some athletic.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
Gifts.
Speaker 8 (28:10):
Uh you KNOW i always had that feeling like you,
know you, know you always the big kid that was,
fast you, know you ALWAYS i was always running with
guys in middle, school high.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
School for, me it was let me run with the.
Speaker 8 (28:21):
Skills even in high, SCHOOL i ran track and THEN
i would go lift with the football team in. College you,
know before we go up, There i'm doing the skill,
workouts SO i know when it's time to go out
there with the.
Speaker 7 (28:32):
Bigs it's easy to.
Speaker 8 (28:33):
Me it's easier to help me get in condition and
my mindset as, always you, know be ready to play
the whole. Game make sure That i'm in enough cardio,
shape conditioning SO i can if my numbers, called it's two,
minute the game is on the. LINE i had a
conditioning to go out there and you, know and help
the team.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Win so there's no doubt this attack defense you mentioned
it is one of the parts of the, decision is.
Right they don't want you to sit there and try
to eat up double. Teams they want you to get
around somebody and go wreck, things.
Speaker 8 (28:59):
Right so that that's, you, Right, yeah just you, KNOW
i think and LIKE i, said you, know knowing my,
superpower my superpower is my, speed my, athleticism my. Power you,
KNOW i could be, short BUT i have a great
center low center gravity man win low man. Wins so
just you, know ability to, penetrate be. Disruptive you, know
that's something that drew me to this. Defense just knowing,
(29:20):
that you, KNOW i put decent things on, tape and
knowing THAT i could be, better knowing THAT i could,
grow and LIKE i, said to the point Where i'm
proud of, myself not just as a, player but as
a man and as a teammate and a guy in
his locker.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Room first of, all everybody's gonna hear that sending you're
gonna Be you're a very likable young. MAN i love,
that AND i love the success that you've, had and
hopefully it brings.
Speaker 7 (29:41):
Me right a.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Lot more, SO i was, told did you play? Linebacker
at one POINT.
Speaker 8 (29:45):
I did a little. Bit you, know my last year At,
TULANE i played stand up. EDGE i was around two
eighty five playing stand up, edge and you, know just
having the ability LIKE i, said you, KNOW i just
love playing. Football that's why the ability to go out
there on special teams to the new kickoff for you
by the way, right just to open up my, stride you,
know just have my clease touch the. Grass you, know
(30:06):
every TIME i touch that, FIELD i just Give god
glory just the ability to you, know get reps to play,
football to have. Fun you, know at the end of the,
day this is a kid's, game AND i just love
the abilities to play.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Football and what's it like being in that room with
you because It's you're not the only young guy in, there,
Right you're going through your Holl he's in, There mason,
Obviously Mike hall is a second your, Guy juwan's second year.
Guy you have a good core of young, guys and
you got The, vets you, Know shelby And. Malik what's
it like being in that room kind of having that
youthful energy and then you've got these guys that have
been doing it the old lads as they call, it
at a high level for a long.
Speaker 8 (30:38):
TIME i think the biggest thing is you mentioned that
experience having a, blessing you, know in the, SUMMER i
was With miles for about three, weeks so getting to
see his, routine getting to see how he, worked and
allowing myself to say to, myself where DO i stack?
Up then coming out to play, Football guys Like, Shelby
guys Like malik that have sacks that made plays in the,
league helping me with my rush, plan talking through, Me,
(31:00):
aiden do, This, aiden just you, know just work on.
This and having the ability to have those guys it's
a blessing because knowing that they year, ten year nine or,
wherever that's WHERE i want to get. TO i want
to get to the point WHERE i have a, long a,
long healthy. Career i've Made, please of COURSE i made,
money BUT i want to have an impact like those
(31:21):
guys are having on me and just continuing to work
with me and to helped me become the PLAYER i
want to.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Be and it isn't it wild when you really take
a step back and think about, it is, that, yes
you want, that and they want, that and every wants
but like the reality is you could take their, Job
like that's just the nature of.
Speaker 6 (31:37):
This is this?
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Right but to be that unselfish and still in part
that wisdom that tells you what's going on in this locker.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
ROOM i think that's an exciting thing and we're glad
you're a part of.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
That.
Speaker 8 (31:44):
Yeah and LIKE i, said and it's a, blessing you,
know because there's no, egos there's no, jealousy there's no.
Envnish those, guys you, know like you, said they could
tell me, No i'm, GOOD i don't want to work with,
you but they seek me out they see, something, right
we work out. Together so me knowing that you, know
and every DAY i think the biggest thing is you
have to earn the guys trust next to. YOU i
(32:05):
want to be able to know On sundays you know,
PERFECTLY i make this team. PERFECTLY i have a, role
Like coast Of fantasy, says make the team and earn a.
Role and every DAY i just work towards. That but
knowing On sundays that they see sixty six or whatever,
number you, know it was out there next to them mine,
whenever whatever, Number i'll be blessed to. Have but that
they could trust. Me that if when they source, calls
(32:26):
that call they could trust. It i'm gonna do the.
Job if we run a, game they could trust, It
i'm gonna do my. Job and you know that we
can have success together. PLAYING i love.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
It you got me. Smiling this is one of the
THINGS i. Like so this is My this will be
my fourteenth season with the. Team LIKE i love when
guys come through and see. Something that's what it. Is
when you're undrafted free. AGENT i think it's gonna be
given to. You, Right you've got to go. Season you've
given yourself an. Opportunity you got one more preseason, game,
right first one at. Home get to run out On
Huntington bankfield as a member of The Cleveland. Browns what
are you looking forward to kind of in this preseason
finale to kind of put the ribbon for you on
(32:57):
what has been a very impressive.
Speaker 8 (32:58):
Offseason i'll just, say you, know it's not. Over you
know it's not over Till god says it's. Over it's
not over to the final. Whistle so you, KNOW i
want to go out. THERE i want to continue to
work on my. TECHNIQUE i want to continue to work
on my. PLEAS i want to continue to make. PLEASE
i want to continue to be an. Encourager you, know
that's one THING i want to work on coming in
just not you, know on the, field but as a,
(33:19):
teammate being, encouraging you, know and being going To Huntington
bank For stadium With huntington on my last on the
back of my jersey. Energy, yeah it's a, blessing you.
KNOW i Just i'm excited to see the. Fans i'm
excited to See. Cleveland i'm just excited to hear that.
Roar you, know it's a it's a different. Energy and
then it's. FUNNY i was listening To John randall last.
(33:39):
Night he was talking about when he was In, minnesota
he was in that he was in that dome and
that energy gave him. Superpower, so you, know prayerfully With
god and That cleveland, FANS i could get some SUPERPOWERS
i never had, before AND i COULD i could put
a great finale on and a great showing for the
for the, team and continue to.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Contribute you're running out there against The cincinnati you right,
here get, loud that's when it's going to be absolutely.
Speaker 6 (34:02):

something about it And huntington off the.

on who maybe have an opportunity to better themselves On.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Saturday, well first and, Foremost i'm looking At Amani.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
MARSHALL i love What i'm seeing from him at the
running back. Position.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
NATHAN i think he runs the football. Authority he gives
us something that we don't have in our, backfield and
that's that, big powerful running. Back And i've been impressed
with all his outings thus far in the football, game
So i'm very impressed with. HIM i think he has
a really a great chance to put his name in
the conversation far as making his roster as a, corn
as a running. Back and then WHEN i go to THE,
(39:07):
DVS i look At Dom, Jones i'm saying, myself a six'
two corner brings a. Hype factor we need that. Back
there so he has an opportunity in my, mind too
to really. Help himself and he's got some room with.
The Twos so i'm Thinking for dom as well as
a money here's a great opportunity. For, you again you
can't control What the rams are gonna Do, on saturday
(39:27):
but you can certainly control.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
Your.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
EFFORT absolutely i think. You're right those are two guys
who really have an opportunity to try to make this.
Football team and, you Know With, amani, MARSHALL yeah i
think he's been. Very good it's interesting there, was report,
you Know From diana Rasini the browns are looking at
running backs potentially and the only thing you could think
they'd be looking at it as a. Power BACK and i
read that as one that maybe the resolution For Quin
(39:49):
shawn judkins is not nearly as close as any of
us want or and two that They Like, amani marshall
but they're not maybe yet ready to go into week
One With. Amani marshall maybe he can go and make
a statement, and, says yes you are ready to. Go
there another guy for me Would Be Easton moscarenus arnold.
The linebacker with all those injuries in that Linebacker And bookie,
watson's On Ir my mood's, Banged Up winston reid's. Banged
(40:10):
up he's gonna get an opportunity to play a ton
in this game, and, SAY hey i should be on that?
Fifty three what? Position? Battle gerald are you still? Watching
here obviously the quarterback that, Is over so what position
battle are you watching in?
Speaker 2 (40:23):
This?
Speaker 5 (40:23):
Game yeah i'm still playing close attention to what's going
on in the secondary and particularly with the nickel and,
dime situation because this day, and age with everybody running,
eleven personnel how can you not be concerned bout what
we're going to do in those.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Spots because we need guys to.
Speaker 5 (40:36):
Step up obviously You got greg And, got denzel but
after that there's. Question Marks so That's where i'm putting
my attention at and again this will be. An opportunity
HENCE why I Missed dom. Jones earlier the opportunity is,
certainly There so cam, step up do what you need,
to do. My man but it's certainly opportunity in.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
As, SECONDARY yeah I Mean, cam mitchell we've seen it,
in games so we know. It's there just hasn't been
a great so far preseason. For him miles hard and
last year's seventh round pick certainly an opportunity for him.
As Well nick needhum, The Veteran but i'm. WITH you
i think you really need to see what ends up
happening there in that nickel spot because it's critical to what.
(41:12):
We do, you mean think about. Week one we're going
to live in Nickel in week one Against The, cincinnati
bengals so that is going to be so so important
to get that right when we. Come back, stock up.
Step up going in the final, preseason game we'll give
you the Lineup. For saturday let me send some thank,
you so, of course to the great people who make this.
Show possible you're Listening To The Kevin stefanski show presented By.
(41:32):
THE Browns Vip tail game season passes are now available

one player whose stock? Is up going into.
Speaker 5 (42:08):
Preseason Finale Certainly julian aquora has been dominating on the
defensive end as the rest, edge balling and then from
a step, Up standpoint i'm gonna ask My Man dwan
jones to go out there and dominate like he's never
dominated before in his last preseason game to prepare for the.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Regular, season yeah my stock up is gonna be Our Guy.
AIDEN huntington i enjoy talking to him. So much it
was great to get to know him as Well as
i've really respected what he. Is doing and then step up.
For me it's gonna be these, young quarterbacks both, Of Them,
Dylan Gabriel, shore sanders keep, it rolling keep, it rolling make,
everything tough make it tough on, the media make it
(42:44):
tough on the, decision makers make it Tough On. Kevin
stefanski keep going out there, and BAWLING and i think
that will. Be fun and then the other GUY that
i really just want. To see it's not a, stock
up it's not a step up at this point because
we haven't. Seen Him but i'll tell, YOU what i
can't wait To See. Isaiah bond i'm excited to. See, Him,
jarrod yeah that will. Be exciting and, people like how's
he gonna?
Speaker 5 (43:02):
Get prepared he's, Been RUNNING and i keep on trying
to tell people to if you Have A joe flacco,
out there, experienced quarterback they can simply tell him run a,
six run a, four run a, three run a two
in those are the route trees and he'll figure that.
Part out timing obviously won't, be there, but hey still
gotta give a guy a chance to go ahead and,
get acclimated because come two weeks, from now or it's
(43:23):
two weeks and, two days we'll certainly be or three
days in, this case we'll be wanting.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
HIS services i think we're Gona see isaiah bond to
a couple. OF things i think we're RUN goes. A
nine i think we're see him. RUN posts i think
we're seeing him run, deep overs clear. Out routes AND
then i think we're gonna see him run like maybe
some drags just to get the ball in, his hands
or a bubbles wide receiver screen, to him maybe some
jet sweeps just to see what he can do with.
That speed get the ball in, his hands keep it
very simple. For him coming Up, on saturday at, nine
