(00:31):
Kevin Stefanski. First up, All Pro defensive end Miles Garrett
talks about how the defense can return to form this season.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Talk you since your last speeding ancident?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
What is it like to be in that car and
seeing that sphenomeno freaking up to.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
More than one?
Speaker 4 (00:56):
I do, honestly rather talk about football on this team
than anything I'm doing off field, other than the back
to school you know event that I did the other day.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
But but I mean, people wanna know, want to know about.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
That, People wanna know a lot of things.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
But I I try to keep my personal life personal,
and I'd rather focus on this team.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
When I can.
Speaker 6 (01:19):
Say expout from right now, I'd.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Rather talk about something that's more, you know, focused on
this team and what we're doing, what we're trying to accomplish,
Cause this camping different for you. Uh no them h
giving me more of a uh I wanna say, lee way,
but giving me more of a platform I should say
(01:45):
to to leave where I can. You know, I feel
like there were some spaces where they were a bit
hesitant to allow me to to take over. Yah, and
not just on the field, know with my play, but
you know with with some different uh you know things
that we're doing and conversations, Yeah, conversations, Uh, you know
what we're doing throughout the day and just how you
(02:06):
know the floor of the day goes, you know, just
trying to be involved and and try to get what's best,
you know, for.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
The guys and and be uh as efficient as we
can thout today.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Are you expecting good playe Saturday?
Speaker 7 (02:18):
And and then also to just your your thoughts on
how this camp for pre season have gone for you
to get you ready.
Speaker 6 (02:27):
For your coming Yeason.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Uh, I'm I'm definitely ready to play. It's my if
my number is called, you know, I'm definitely suiting up
and ready to go. And unfortunately got the the pleasure
of going against uh Lane and Jordan. Those guys are
tremendous of what they do and it's it's always fun
going over there. They they receive us well, and you
know it's it's always great work going against them, mature
of the best at their crop.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
Hey maazing, I'm sorry, but this this is just part
So you talked about being a leader.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Uh huh, So what kind of a leadership does that
show you?
Speaker 5 (02:55):
What?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
When you get all over by accounts again?
Speaker 4 (02:59):
You're asking the same question and I'm answered it at
two different times, So I'm I'm gonna need to ask
a different question so I can I can focus on
his team and not you know this this headline you're
trying to get out of this question you're asking.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Moles, do you feel like do you feel like you're
having an impact in the way they do?
Speaker 7 (03:16):
Long going about your leadership rule and in a different
way of this game.
Speaker 9 (03:19):
I do.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I've heard, you know that from from multiple accounts with us,
from players and coaches about the the a bit of
a style change I've had, you know this year and
being a bit more minute with with uh. You know,
the attention I give and details that I bring. Make
sure the guys are bringing that same detail to the game.
You know, everybody being on the same page.
Speaker 7 (03:39):
Is this self driven or what were you verge to
to be this way by anybody who are encouraged as.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
You take No just self driven. You know, it's just
it's just gonna go as far as you know. I
I wanted to go and and Arlan and strong as
the weakest link, and I I feel like, you know,
I've got to can continue to improve and find a
way to uh, you know, elevate my teammates, not just myself.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Would you've been complimentary a job since three and since
he came back? What was your reaction?
Speaker 8 (04:06):
Maybe he was an expectation that he being a starter,
and what do you think he can do for you?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Guys?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Heading in a.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Man I I think you know anyone who's doing it
over you know, shoot thirty five as special. You know,
they'll always tell you to watch out for uh an
old man in a in a career where young people
dominate and old people die young.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
So you know he having the the nols that he does, wisdom.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
That he does, being about to bring that to his
room and sharing that with them no helps them, but
it always helps us, you know, them always being on
the same page. Ready, But you know he's he's the
guy who's able to you know, see it the best.
Right now, we're we're ready to rock with him because
you know, he he has you know, that that game
experience and he's shown that composure for years now and
(04:53):
we're we're glad to you know, have him, have him
on our side.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
You see signs of the defense getting back to twenty
three read.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
I think so that I think there were uh you know, lapses,
laps in focus, laps laps of discipline. Uh you know
when we need to be sharper without was you know,
in here or on the field. And I think you
know that it it kind of leaks out. You know,
how you are every day is how you are when
you know when you you need to be that person.
So I think, w how we've we've tightened up the
(05:24):
ship and we've we've sharpened, sharpened everything. I think we
will continue to get better and we'll we'll show uh
not only glimpses, but that we we were and are
that twenty twenty thirteen, So you gave from.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Other people, how did you describe you and changing the
leasing off the time?
Speaker 10 (05:39):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Like I said, just just more focused, you know, more
more willing to be, uh, more vocal and uh you
know a lot of the guys, no mans were last.
I'm I'm always willing to to help mentor or give advice,
but all also just being you know, the uh, the
biggest critic as well. You know, as well as you
did it, we can always do it better. I s
(06:01):
I I think that way for myself, and I'll I
critique myself, uh very thoroughly, and and you know, just
you know, showing the guys now how I think and
how I I try to improve and and uh, you know,
try to instill that upon them.
Speaker 7 (06:13):
Almost Wait, if you can take you know, the defensive
line looks so dominant here in camp.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
In the pre season. What's gonna take for you guys
to to.
Speaker 8 (06:22):
Bring that down into the rank of over seas?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
I think the only thing else to up us is us.
You know, as long as we we run the calls
that you know that that sports gets out there, we're
all on the same page. I think this guy's the limit,
and we just gotta continue to you know, be disciplined
in our our technique and and uh what we'll call
to do during that certain play. And uh, you know,
I'm I'm happy with, uh the projects that we made
(06:44):
and what we can do get it out.
Speaker 11 (06:45):
It seems like.
Speaker 7 (06:46):
When we talk to Jim or for Jock, like you're
always talking about holding you to that that next level
in terms of reproduction on the field. I guess if
if yours are going on with them, how do you
feel about that sailor.
Speaker 8 (06:56):
They kind of set for one production lines?
Speaker 7 (06:58):
Or even what do you what do you money prove?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Right?
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Absolutely love him?
Speaker 4 (07:02):
You know, I love that they they know that they're
more out there for me, and you know they they
wouldn't say it if you know it wasn't true. And
I've I've thought this the same thing, and it's about
make having a plan and execunity get that can you know,
beat these ships, beat these doubles and and find a
way to get you know, just a few more one
on ones and and continue to increase my my production?
Speaker 2 (07:22):
And what was it like last week?
Speaker 7 (07:24):
I never do enjoying what a lot of referends, but
to kind of see his reaction after going against you
two days in practice and if you got asked how
do you stop the always like I still don't know,
Like when I figure it out, I'll tell you. So
what's what's that kind of like to go against your.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
I mean into hell of an honor. You know, he's
he's special.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
You know, he's he's big, he's strong, he's he's very athletic,
and uh, you know it's it.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
It's a really uh iron sharpens iron no.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Situation when we go against each other, you know with uh,
you know how talented he is at the position.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
I'm glad to be able to go against him. Know
this early to you know see how I'm feeling.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
You know, I'm recovering, and also you know, just work
on my technique, working my craft, and you know he
was very happy to do the same.
Speaker 12 (08:07):
How do you don't feel like how did you feel
like he came out of that? Because you looked like
you lined up a little bit on the on the
left side, also against against lighting a little bit. Also,
I mean, what what did you how much did you
feel like you really got? I mean, what would sort
of your your assessment of those two days.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
For you in the defense as a whole lots of learning,
you know, just.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Going through my mindset, you know, before the play, just
analyzing the field and what's going on. You know, it's
a team like that and they're gonna try to slow
you down and play with your eyes, and you know,
fortunately they left a lot of one on ones and
I know during the season there will probably be no
different situations with trippers of all different kinds. But you know,
(08:50):
just going through that mental checklist, so I don't have anything,
you know, when I when I snapped the ball, I
don't have to think, I don't have to worry about anything.
I'm just going And I think that kind of that
kind of focused right before the ball was not really
helped me, especially against those guys mouths.
Speaker 8 (09:06):
How scary is it to see Denzel league yesterday?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
It's how important is he did doing what you guys
are trying to do on next.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Time the moment.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
I mean, he's as important as it gets. You know,
Russian coverage work together, and you know that's my brother
out there. I can't do what I do without him
and vice versa. So I'm glad to see him come
back in the building and doing well. But you know,
we just have to be careful and take care of
ourselves and pick our brothers up when we can.
Speaker 10 (09:31):
You get ice about this last twenty twenty three defense.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
We're about twenty.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
Twenty three flag though you guys won the four games
in December with him.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Do you think he still has that? I do now.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
I think he does too, and that's more important than anything.
So you know, he's excited to go out there and
show it. You know, he's so cool as can be
and he's ready for the moment.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Next up, running back Jerome Ford highlights his relationship with
running backs coach Douce Staley and how he pushes forward
to improve every day.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
So, well, what do you think about Joe being named
the start?
Speaker 5 (10:04):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I think you know, I was a decision for coach
and he made the best decision for us to win,
and we gonna put our trust.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
In him and do we gotta do the win games?
Speaker 8 (10:12):
Are you made that he droves it as well as
he does at you're.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Forty years old?
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Yeah? Uh, I am uh.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
I don't even think I was in high school when
he started in the NFL, So okay, I think it
is to you know, be able to continue to play
this game at a high level.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
I think it's a blessing for him, if you will.
Speaker 7 (10:26):
Or drone watching you guys practice yesterdays, that like the
weighted ball that Duce was making you guys scared?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Uh yeah, yeah, uh it's conditioning that he make us
do from time to time if you feel we need
a little bit of extra conditioning.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
He real big on being ready, So just doing what
we can to be ready for the game.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I know you guys have talked about he doesn't let
us feel like.
Speaker 8 (10:45):
That's not his style.
Speaker 7 (10:46):
So I guess what's it like going through that when
you're in the dark days of training camp and you
guys are putting in all that work still.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
On day fifteen or whatever is he Honestly, in the moment,
it can be frustrating, it be pissed off a little bit,
But once you done and you get to, say, you know,
a week one or or preseason game, you can see
the difference in not being tired of being able to
take on a load of plays.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Jumem, what would you say the state of the running
game is right now? You're happy where the room is
and trying systems.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, getting back to where we were, uh when we
first started running the ball more, getting more reps to that.
I think we all excited and uh, we all ready
to take on uh the roll and run the ball.
Speaker 13 (11:26):
Oh weel improved as uh and your bid let's take
off that other products of your games.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Can you repeat that, I'll get re uh improved.
Speaker 8 (11:35):
I let's take off another part of your game.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
We unt improved a lot Rooky year.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
We don't improve a lot, Duce, make us everybody else
doing routes one on ones. We do pass pro every
chance we'd get. Duce want us to pass pro every day.
If we could do one on ones against the linebackers
every day, Duce all probably wanna do that too. So yeah,
we we been preparing and getting ready. Uh so we
can make sure that were in the best position to
protect the quarterback the seasons, the whole uh running system
feel like twenty twenty really good, feel like twenty twenty five. Man,
(12:03):
we we we in we in the future right now.
We can't look back on that. We we just wanna
do whatever we can to high success in the run game?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Is the draw like you guys are.
Speaker 7 (12:12):
Getting back to the red water of what made or
this offense you know since Kevin's the fans years have been.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Here is be success?
Speaker 8 (12:20):
Does it feel like you guys are getting back to us?
Speaker 5 (12:23):
It does?
Speaker 8 (12:25):
Did your hopes when you're Gonduce is making your run
those prints?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
That's like what you talked about do you.
Speaker 8 (12:30):
Get done with them and say, man, they still need
to get in better shape, or or you like I'm good,
it's prove.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
It and where it need to be.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Uh, Nah, I.
Speaker 9 (12:39):
Don't.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
I don't think I was done with him and like, yeah,
I'm good where I need to be. I feel like
there's a it's a long way to go. We'll be
able to play forty fifty plays a game, and I
think with the conditioning, it ain't gonna do nothing but
help us, and we gonna continue to do it.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
Whins think Drewdids gone for the last week.
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Kind of calling your guys s back Eagle's line up.
The middle of the line is obviously their.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Like drawn suit.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Cont do you have since?
Speaker 5 (13:01):
What was that?
Speaker 2 (13:01):
How like on those tames?
Speaker 5 (13:02):
It was intense? Uh?
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Like you said, good front, good defense in general, and
good coach calling the defense and just going from day
one to day two. Uh, they were having small adjustments
that we would see and that we had to adapt to.
And I feel like it w it was great competition.
We were able to have fun against a really good defense,
and I guess kind of see where we were cause
did you.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Feel like you guys a group what they wanted to
see what you into good.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I feel like we got better every day. We kind
of just took it one step at a time. We
got our goals that we focus on every day, uh,
in the meetings and stuff that we look at, and
we we just kind of make sure that we we
hit those goals and we accomplished those and and that
least us took success.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
Year that you can go out there, uh, get every
down back that you did the job though.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I feel like I did a pretty decent job of,
you know, doing what I could to help the team,
you know, with all the stuff that we had going on,
Nick coming back injuries and the running back room and
the games. But just looking forward to this year and
doing whatever we can to win games, running the ball,
catching the ball, whatever you feel like, Joan Samson or
(14:12):
now that you can feel.
Speaker 14 (14:13):
Like you can under each other.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Dylan is a character. Dylan is probably one of the
funniest guys you'll meet. He probably don't act like it,
but him and his Louisiana accent hilarious. Him as a player,
and he's a great player. He got speed to him.
He can he can make you miss and in pass
pro he'll stun you. And he he he not just
a he, not a l he not just a little
guy that you gonna be able to run through. He
guy who put it, hm, he gonna put it on you.
Speaker 8 (14:37):
Do you know how the carries are gonna be divided
when you get the weekend beers.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
That's still TVD super determined. That's a Stephanski question.
Speaker 15 (14:47):
Uh and good frills that he You guys think that
resistance fans drill probably the most football or of all
of them out here on the field.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
How do you feel about that? Your partnering a lot
on that?
Speaker 5 (14:58):
Is that actual? Between me and do so? I feel
like we need to retire to drill.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
It's it's it's a little heavy on the lift, but nah, nah,
honestly it's it's a great drill. It help us get
ready to uh for collisions, It helps us get ready
to use weapons when uh we out in traffic, helps
us with boss security, and it's a little.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Bit of conditioning too. And I think it's a great drill.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
It is tiring, it can be held sometimes, but I
think it's one of those things gonna get us better
in the long run.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Yeah, sometimes I hear them my dreams what are you
off to get out of Saturday gets chemistry.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
It's like a game go prop reasonal just to kind
of give a.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Freer uh, hoping to be able to execute the game plan.
It probably gonna throw a lot of stuff at us,
and just making sure that we hit on all cylinders
and on on the little things and those things will
lead to making big plays. So as long as we
get the little things right, which we l that's what
we looking forward to do, everything else will fall into place.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Oh you know a personal you like what are you
you like?
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Experience?
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Uh, I haven't played in the game yet, so like
we're talking about earlier that conditioning and making sure that
even when I'm tired, I'm executing the details of every play.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
Can sa Fanti sacity, but dressed with the whole team.
Fanti said, you guys are about like.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
The speeding to get in this general uh just in
general to just slow down for the safety of us
and the safety of everybody else.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
Uh, anything can happen.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
And and just harping on slowing down, not speeding and
just taking it slowly is.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
The point to kind of watch yourself in that ice.
Speaker 11 (16:41):
Something you want to stretch, so do.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
You have a first speeding Oh yeah, I drop slow,
so I I don't really drop so now, so I
don't really worry about it.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Wide receiver Jamari Thrash is up next, who talks about
what he's worked on heading into his sophomore season.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
You make good camp for you? Are you feeling with
your body of the works.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I think I did pretty good. Still not where I
wanna be, but it there's always room for improvement. But
I think I had a I P I had a
pretty decent count.
Speaker 15 (17:08):
What is your mindset been, the things that you wanted
to show off, the things that you maybe wanted to
get better.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Out as you grew out y on the field, what
we felt feel pretty much.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Us really just I think my biggest adjustment was just
catching the ball. Coming from college, Uh, the NFL ball
a little bit wider so and I think that's something
that I struggled with last year, catching the ball consistently.
So that's sort of what I worked on a lot
this summer. I think I did a good job was
showing that against the Evils last week.
Speaker 15 (17:33):
I wanna ask you how think that was to have
that connection and have so many, so many plays until
with their quarterback.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
And getting sent to what you wanted to catch up ball.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Yeah, I mean it's always a good thing when you
got a connection with not only one, but you know
Shador and Joe. I think I think that's something that's
gonna help us moving forward into the year, no matter
you know what the situation may be. I think that's
always a good s a good thing to have with
some of our quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
What's that process make?
Speaker 14 (18:02):
You know?
Speaker 8 (18:02):
Getting better at that aspect of.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Said just work the drugs that shit. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
So this summer I just made sure I just caught
a lot of balls from a jug machine where there's
a quarterback I have, Uh, the thing like I could
squeeze squeeze the tennis ball to make sure I get.
Speaker 9 (18:18):
My hands in the rice. So little little stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
That's been the biggest thing here in one year, chis
that you can't like you just kind of riss big
jump only how.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
Like, how did it the first year you were in
the place from.
Speaker 9 (18:31):
Uh, I probably say definitely the speed of the game.
Speaker 10 (18:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Last year it was a lot for me coming from
college and then I didn't never I didn't really have
a two off season, so coming right in uh, to
like recommitticount and then just adjusting to.
Speaker 9 (18:42):
The speed of the game. I think that's what was
my biggest adjustment to me, What.
Speaker 7 (18:47):
Is this opportunity this year kind of process like that
she has need the number three guys.
Speaker 9 (18:52):
Like, uh say that are time.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Sorry.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
I can hear your opportunity to be like the slot
guy or the number three whatever you wanna play.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
But what is that opportunity sort of represents?
Speaker 3 (19:01):
I mean, it means a lot to me, cause I
get it's this is the year I get to also,
you know, showcase my skills cause I didn't play a
lot last year, so coming into this year and just
being familiar with the offense, I could play a lot faster.
I'm not thinking as much and just understand like different
coverages and things like that. So I F, I F
I'm really excited for this year for me, and not
only for me, but for for the Browns.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
So you weren't here in twenty twenty three when Flaco played.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
And I wasn't here, what did you think of Oh?
I think Joe's a excellent quarterback. It's a you can
tell the difference between a vet guy and like more
of like a younger quarterback, cause even like with James
last year, you could just tear the difference between like
with him and Dorian or even like Joe and shit
Door like just even though even though they're like rookies,
but you can also tell the different between having a
(19:47):
vet because Joe's not. He's not more so vocally, but
he just leaves by example and it Ja he knows
a lot of stuff that we don't know cause it's
only my second year. So he still he He's showing
us a lot of different things with his experience of
him being there to.
Speaker 9 (20:00):
Leave us the ball, sir, what about the ball as gross?
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Oh, they're I They're always on points. So and it
and with Joe's like he's gonna want you to get
to that spot. And so like my biggest thing for
me was just come like having like crossing the rocks
or s some s some route come across the middle.
Speaker 9 (20:17):
Joe's gonna want me and expect me to be at
that spot, just based off of the coverage and want you.
Speaker 10 (20:22):
Two, what you're doing and your camp in the preseason
and very productively now uh transition ninety to some.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Regular season I think the big thing magic gotta play faster,
knowing and knowing that the regular season is different from
the preseason, so just basically just playing a lot faster
and making making sure of my p's and q's.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
Last season, there were some different.
Speaker 15 (20:42):
Question marks from the depth of wide receiver room, uh,
and I know this year to focused on the making
sure that there's enough guys in there that can bring
'em a good body of work for you and other
coaches said they're gonna free.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Doesn't just step up and be that guy and holl
that hole.
Speaker 15 (20:56):
How much do you ruble in the the fact that
you're feeding on so much and knowing that there was
a questions last year.
Speaker 14 (21:03):
That keep be into this year.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Press pressure is a privilege, So you know, I look
at it as a like a great opportunity for me
to also like showcase my skills and also show the
coaches that you.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Know, I'm the guy, the guy that they're leaning on.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
So they brought up Isaiah Bond and he's joined the team.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
So what's it like to the ring a new guy
in And it's definitely in their plans this way in.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Camp right now. The biggest thing we just tryna get
him caught up, cause you know he he's only been here.
This is a second day, so we just tryna make
sure we get him caught up. But I think I
think he's a fast learner, cause yesterday he was he
picked up on a lot of these things, a lot
of the things that we threw at 'em. He picked
it up on the pretty well. So I think I
I think isaiahould be a good plus for us, cause
the cause.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Rooman just wrapped their arms around him, the welcome on
one up the other guys.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Yeah, most definitely. Yeah, we just welcomed him just like
cause Hi, I was in his shoes last year. So
and then Isaiah's from He's from like the South, so
we I kind of cross roads him.
Speaker 9 (21:59):
At a little bit, so I'm familiar with him a
little bit.
Speaker 8 (22:03):
How hard, How hard wasn't he knock going past you
as much as you from me?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
I mean, it was frustrating, but I also knew I
wasn't just ready, like and I'm okay with that, Like
I'm I'm content on myself to let myself know.
Speaker 9 (22:13):
Like, yeah, you not where you where you need to
be at.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
So it was frustrating a lot, But at the same time,
that's what comes with preparation and determination and motivation.
Speaker 9 (22:24):
So I think that's why. I think that's how I
got to where I am at today.
Speaker 8 (22:28):
Do you talk about get your passage from job? But
obviously you guys are constant.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
Rotating throughout your Again, what's a bit like get your
passages from all your other bun backs and what do
you sort of see especially brother pass.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
They kind of do your own, y'all. That's all.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I mean, all of 'em are doing a great job.
Shador's doing a great job, deal doing a great job,
Joe's doing a great job, and Kenny doing a great job.
You know, injuries has kind of slowed some of those
guys down. But catching the passae from is is always
a plus. Like the thing was dealing, He's just left handed,
so it's coming off his hands a little bit different
from how it is against all the other the other
three quarterbacks. But you know, I'm I'm excited to case
(23:01):
to pass on'em any of 'em.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Did that take get used to you from left hand
and to.
Speaker 9 (23:06):
Yeah, a little bit.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
During the summer I went to Calian Actually I went
to throw a dealer in California, so yeah, so it
was just kind of weird, just the way it comes
off his hand, cause especially like if I'm coming across
the middle right, have a shallow route or something. Oh,
just how it comes off his hand, Cause it's different
from It's different from how it's coming from my right
handed quarterback versus the left handed quarterback. So yeah, it's
(23:29):
kind of different, but I I'm kind of used to
it now.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
You you talked about it, sort of know you you're one.
Speaker 10 (23:34):
Maybe you didn't go exactly what you wanted, like, you know,
put in that effort to have the motivation to.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Come back and be better this year.
Speaker 7 (23:40):
So as this training camp and pre season kind of
going to this.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Point, like how you envision it would go, Yeah, I
probably say, yes, Well I knew I knew once coming,
I knew what they wanted me to work on coming
into the training camp. So I really just try to
work on what they needed me to work on and
then just make sure I've added it to the field.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
What was it? Uh?
Speaker 9 (24:02):
Just my consistency catcher?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Is that catching?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (24:05):
Catching consistently catching the ball?
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (24:07):
What do you think the key is that? To take
that from practice, from those precentcent games and translate that.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Jul, like I said earlier, just playing faster. I think,
just playing faster and understanding what I understanding my assignments
and my c and read 'em different keys and the
defense to know how to get open on certain routes.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Well, anybody challenge Bond to a forty yard dash?
Speaker 9 (24:28):
Case, sh I know I won't. Now he got that.
He got the forty yard dads, But what.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Did you have to count a bottle?
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Rag?
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Yes, sir uh I ran a four four four four six.
Yeah that ain't nothing compared to four three to Isaiah run.
But yeah, I don't think nobody gonna challenge him at
this moment right now.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
Yeah, how how did you kind of use your time
last year when you weren't like what?
Speaker 13 (24:48):
How how were you spending your time kind of learning
and the sort of things were you doing?
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Just kind of stayed game, just really just trying to
make sure I understand the the concept of the plays
cause last year, I they would move me a lot
or they moved me a around a lot last year.
So just make sure I understand the play the playbook
conceptionally and just understand you know, I can get plugged
in in any spot, So I just need to make
sure I knew what my assignment was.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
Why you might not the game about this special question
for you got a guessers to play emotional games, not
to talk about back as a receiver.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Help just let me know, Uh, if it's his owner man,
let me know if his owner man. It also helps me,
you know, get be able to get into my rock
a little bit, not quicker, but at the same time,
just letting everything play out. So let me know, you know,
if it is Zoner Man or the top of tempo.
Speaker 9 (25:41):
I need to come up with the when I come
off the ball.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Finally, head coach Kevin Stefanski provide some injury updates.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Is there any update on injury nature severity?
Speaker 5 (25:52):
It's a lot.
Speaker 14 (25:53):
Uh, no update, doing well. Expect him to be out here. Uh,
back out there pretty soon.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Look like Cedric didn't I know, he didn't practice.
Speaker 11 (26:05):
Yeah, dealing with a thumb thing. But it should be fine,
not long term.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
And how about Kenny Pickett?
Speaker 14 (26:13):
Uh continuing to progress. Uh, he's doing everything in his
power to get back out there.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
A SAP. What about.
Speaker 14 (26:23):
No, he's r Yeah, he's fine. We just a lot
of this is just getting some guys ready who are
playing on Saturday. So Kenny's not playing Saturday, So just
getting more walk through type reps what about like he was, Yeah,
doing more and then important part is just to find
out how he comes out of today, how he felt. Uh,
and we'll know more both after practice and then m
no more tomorrow morning, how he's feeling.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (26:47):
He's a decision to be made later.
Speaker 16 (26:49):
I just I just don't know yet, Keptain bran Day said, Uh,
a couple of weeks to deal maybe probably a month
ago now.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
I was so about seven on seven.
Speaker 11 (26:58):
He was saying he sees some diminished returns in at
the youth.
Speaker 16 (27:01):
Levels, and he wonders if he wishes he could get
more live blood up for his guys. And he was
saying he wonders if that's maybe why there's some mystery
around quarterbacks evaluation when they get here is from the
grassroots levels.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
You know, maybe they're not getting as many level as
what's your.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Take on seven on seven at the grassrooms level or
as just like the seven off seven iipflication.
Speaker 14 (27:23):
Yeah, I'm probably not equipped to answer seven on seven
for kids.
Speaker 11 (27:28):
I'm just not not around that.
Speaker 14 (27:30):
Yeah, the youth game as much to Tanser that I
would say from our perspective, we did a lot of
seven on seven in the spring, really because the rules
ask you to do seven on seven. It's hard to
do too much from a team perspective based on what
the rule, how the rules are written for us. Now
we'll do it here, and it allows the offensive defensive
line to get some one on one work together. But
(27:52):
it's a I could just tell you every coach offense
or defense, would always prefer to do team versus seven
on seven.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
And I mean all the plays the first year, yes,
well you do like you normally do and switch it.
Speaker 14 (28:06):
Up for the last one or not not this year
not doing it just you know, just with the young qbs.
Want to make sure I'm giving them one voice.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Kevin, your cornerback group. I mean, it's you struggled to
keep the whole group out there on the field.
Speaker 12 (28:20):
You know how much you know, especially in a group
like that where confusion and you know the communication is
so critical. How big of a deal is that you
know that you get Gregg back and then then sells
out for a while, and you know, Martin, you know
you're just sort.
Speaker 14 (28:34):
Of I would tell you, Chris, it's certainly you'd love
to have all your guys out there for every rep
for the communication purpose of it. But it's not a
bad thing to get guys different reps and and make
guys talk and make guys communicate.
Speaker 11 (28:47):
I think Brandon Lynch does an.
Speaker 14 (28:48):
Excellent job with our corners and they work a lot
off to the side and in the meeting room and
the and the walk through room, uh to get ready,
And a lot of that.
Speaker 11 (28:57):
Has to do with communication. Like you're saying a lot
about dukes.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
And leading that running back room. But this offseason or
this creaming camp where there's been some uncertainty there in
that group, Like how much of stabilizing president he's been
for those guys?
Speaker 14 (29:12):
Well, Deuce is a big piece of the puzzle for
me as a as a head coach for us as
a football team. He provides great energy, great spirit, great
juice out there on the practice field. Again, former player
that's done at the highest level, immediately has our respect,
but just pours himself into this game, pours himself into
(29:33):
his players.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
So Denzel, he'll be fine. For the old.
Speaker 11 (29:37):
He's day to day, he's doing well.
Speaker 5 (29:40):
It should be great.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
How did you see him respond?
Speaker 12 (29:43):
You know, obviously he was back out there today just
to kind of respond to getting back into eleven and
eleven for the first time.
Speaker 14 (29:49):
Yeah, doing a good job. Continues to feel better every
single day, but doing a.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Good job, Kevin.
Speaker 13 (29:55):
We talked to Jabarti Thrash today and he mentioned that
in the off season the big thing just getting more
comfortable catching the ball, speed of the game, stuff like that.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
How have you seen him come back here in this camp.
Speaker 14 (30:05):
Yeah, really impressed by Jamari's growth his sophomore year here.
We've put a lot on his plate and he's done
a really nice job with everything that we've given him.
He was one of those guys that did really well
in the off season program, really took to the teaching,
took to what we got accomplished in the weight room
in terms of working on his body. So I think
(30:27):
he's a product of a lot of hard work that
he's put into this thing.
Speaker 8 (30:31):
And what do you learn about a guy like that.
Speaker 13 (30:33):
Maybe he didn't play as much last year, but what
do you kind of learn about him as he's going
through that year.
Speaker 14 (30:37):
Yeah, always a guy that is extremely dependable, and I
know it at that position that's of the utmost importance
when it comes to the quarterbacks and a guy that
you can trust and can get open, can catch the football,
can line up at multiple spots. That's a valuable thing
for an offense and certainly the quarterbacks.
Speaker 12 (30:54):
Kevin looked like Joe Cubes out there just for an
emotional if there's the same thing having him and for
the guys. I know he's not gonna play, but just
having him, what does he mean in that locker room
even when.
Speaker 14 (31:07):
He can't well, Jeremiah is a huge part of this
football team. Uh, He's a huge part of of who
we are and and and what we what we strive
to be. So always fun to have him out here.
He'll be out here hopefully a good bit, but he'll
be visiting us and doing some work with us.
Speaker 11 (31:25):
And uh but yeah, we we love having Jeremiah out here.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
N so.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Limited today or was he today?
Speaker 14 (31:34):
No?
Speaker 11 (31:34):
Still limited? Still had a number of throws that we
wanted him to get and then evaluate him after much.
Speaker 14 (31:43):
Well early it's two days in, but I think it's
getting up to speed physically, getting up to speed mentally.
But he's done a nice job knowing what to do.
He's in here early with the coaches so that he
can't get up to speed.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Saturday.
Speaker 14 (31:59):
Let's see how he feels tomorrow, how we feel. But uh,
I'm not ready to say just yet.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Guy who you know didn't last year comes down.
Speaker 8 (32:11):
For you, you know though, So like you know what
a you're doing for me lately in terms of like players.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Coaches, you don't always have a lot of time.
Speaker 10 (32:17):
To let guys develop, But how much do you guys
value pats kind of giving guys time.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
To sort of grow understand like, not everybody's gonna get here.
Speaker 11 (32:26):
Meaning yeah, we have talked a lot about player development.
Speaker 14 (32:30):
The less it feels like the last couple of days,
and it's something that's very important to me and to
us and our organization. And the pace of that developments
for some players is they get it right away. For
some guys it takes a half a season, two seasons.
I can think about different guys that we've had over
the years that maybe weren't ready to contribute in year one,
but then year two they were just a different person,
different players. So everybody's at a different pace, but we
(32:53):
we do everything in our power to accelerate that pace.
And and it's it's a two way straight And Jamar
is a great example of a guy who really took
to coaching, took to what we're giving him. Didn't get
a ton of reps in the games last season, but
was always very present, very intentional about learning what to do,
and then is ready and was ready to take off
(33:15):
with that role this season.
Speaker 11 (33:18):
Injury questions kind of working, is he not really a picture?
Speaker 14 (33:27):
Yeah, I'm not there to Daniel in terms of who's
ready or not for week one. He's progressing and doing
a good job. Yeah, dealing with a back injury was mentioned.
Speaker 13 (33:39):
He said horrible lee away.
Speaker 14 (33:41):
In terms of leadership and kind of voicing his.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Opinions and stuff to the coaching staff.
Speaker 7 (33:47):
Was that more self.
Speaker 13 (33:48):
Driven by him or more with what happened during the
off season.
Speaker 14 (33:51):
As far as no, you know, I've been now with
Miles for six years. Uh, he's grown as a player,
I hope I've grown as a coach. He's somebody I trust.
He's seen a lot in his career. He's he's been, uh,
you know, with a bunch of different teammates and and
learn from those teammates. So I think he's just a
player that's continuing to evolve, and certainly his leadership has
(34:12):
been a big part of of who we are around here.
So he's somebody that I rely on, his teammates rely on,
and that's something that he embraces.
Speaker 5 (34:23):
Yes, do you have an idea of.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
How long you're gonna play the Stars on Saturday?
Speaker 14 (34:29):
I probably can answer that tomorrow, uh for you guys,
but still want to. I wanted to see how he
came out of this good.
Speaker 16 (34:37):
Training camp.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Adges that the defense usually starts out of the offense.
Speaker 11 (34:40):
If you agree with that, do you think offense takes
former defensive player?
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Why do you think offense takes longer to job?
Speaker 11 (34:48):
Good question? I don't I don't know. That's a great question.
Speaker 14 (34:55):
I do think it's something that early on, maybe defenses
can play a little bit simpler and and install one
coverage and one front one and run that versus all,
whereas the offense is maybe installing multiple plays. So there's
a little bit of a tendency to be behind. But
it's definitely true.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
That does it.
