Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to this Friday edition of the From the Podium podcast.
I'm Gabe Klea. The Browns held their final practice of
the week in London in preparation for their game against
the Minnesota Vikings this coming Sunday. On this episode, you'll
hear from head coach Kevin Stefanski, quarterback Dylan Gabriel, defensive
tackle Mason Graham, and defensive end Miles Garrett. We'll start
with head coach Kevin Stefanski, who gave his final thoughts
(00:26):
on the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Okay, good to be here.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
You know, it's a privilege for us to be over
here playing in this series. It's a special thing for
our league, for our organization, so we take it very
seriously that we get this honor to be over here.
So it's a great experience for our players obviously being here,
and they've handled it really well, as you'd imagine. We
(00:49):
were very lucky with our organization to be able to
do this and do it first class and the logistics
of everything, it's just been outstanding. So with that said,
we have had a good week, had a good week
of practice, which we had to have.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Was good.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Wednesday back in Buria, then Thursday did a good job
handling that, which is a unique day, and then today
really is a normal quote unquote Friday for us, and
I thought the guys did a really nice job. So
huge challenge this week against a good football team, a
team that we have a lot of respect for, just
from their players, their coaches. It's gonna be a very,
very big challenge for our football team. But I'm excited
(01:25):
for these guys. But with that, I'll take any questions.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Greg appeared on the injury report yesterday. I have questionable.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
When did the injury happen Wednesday?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, I think Wednesday. Maybe there was something lingering maybe
from the game, But Wednesday, do you I mean.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
I know you listen to a nice questionable. Is it
something you feel like, you know through a game time?
Where do you feel like.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
We'll see Yeah, I mean it's a he's working through it,
so we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I'd say similar there, Mary Kay, he's put She has
been pushing really hard these last few weeks, so I'm hopeful,
But we got to get through the next few days.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Kevin went into the factors for travel, schedule, practicing Wednesday
and how are the players, how do you see them
acclimating to.
Speaker 7 (02:14):
The travel the change.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, there's a bunch of different ways to do it.
I know, some teams come in early, some teams come
in late. We kind of came right in the middle there.
On Wednesday night. We just felt like it was important
for the players coaches to have as normal Monday, Tuesday
Wednesday as you can because that's the bulk of the
game planning for the coaches. That's a very big work
day for the players on that Wednesday. So we felt
(02:36):
like that was the right time. And then as you
can see here, they make it very easy easy on us,
uh to have a normal Friday practice. The facility here
is outstanding and everything went really smoothly.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
We'll stay here. Yes.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
Can you about.
Speaker 8 (02:53):
How Dylan has looked, how he's handled the weak again.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
It's.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Hand as you would expect.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Mary Kay has been, uh, you know, on top of
everything preparing. He's diligent about his preparation. So spending a
lot of time with him, as you know, when you're
on these trips, you get to spend a lot of
time together. You know, any given moment you can go
grab some time to go sit and watch some film.
So he's taken advantage of that.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
I mean for a rookie to to come in and
you know, kind of this early and you know in
his career, you get to start and you know, gain
the respect because you know, Grant and Joel all talk about,
you know, how impressed they've been about it. What does
that say? What does that say about Dylan? And what
how do you feel like he is when he's done to.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Kind of earn that well?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
I think you know, all these guys are different, and
with Dylan, he's unique and he's very mature, but also
his college career was like no other in terms of experience,
so he he can lean on that experience in these situations.
But he's not all rookies are are the same in
terms of their experience whether they come in.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
We have some guys that were twenty.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Years old when we first drafted him, right, and then
you have some guys that have been in college for
six seasons like Dylan and and you know he's like
Tom Callahanson. But but he.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
He's got a lot of experience that he can lean
on in these moments situation.
Speaker 8 (04:18):
Find it and now is the steel a number two?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yes, Joe's the backup Shaudors the emergency quarterback.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Ahead of the people.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah, all of our players and I include chadur in this,
are working extremely hard. We just finished our our period
after practice that we do every single day. Uh just
finished a red zone seven on seven period where Shador
and the rest of the younger guys are working on
ten reps. So he needs to continue to do exactly
what he's been doing and continue to do what all
these guys are doing, which is just keep working.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Was there anything uh factored into with Ryan floor as
very difficult defense in Minnesota? Did that play a role
at all?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Or is that a factory he thought about the business that.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, Coach Flores does an amazing job. I have a
ton of respect for Flow and and that entire defense,
their staff. They're players, So it's it is a huge
challenge whether you're you know, a seasoned VET or a rookie,
it really doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
It's a big challenge any which way.
Speaker 8 (05:15):
In terms of the capital situation for Dylan is staying
a little bit of uncertainty there obviously.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Do you know if Cam is ready to go on
the left side, Well, we'll see, Mary Kay, He's he's
done a nice job and everything we've asked him to do.
He's very intelligent, He's played in a bunch of different systems.
He's played over here quite a bit, so he's kind
of given everybody tips of London.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
But he's coming along. So we'll see as concerned.
Speaker 8 (05:41):
How beneficial would it be for your left ETV to.
Speaker 7 (05:45):
Have Jack over here?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I think obviously we've been trying to get the right
combinations there and see who's healthy. And Jack's working back
and obviously, like I said, I'm hopeful, but it needs
to keep see how he does over the next forty hours. Yeah,
it's always exciting when you can go up against a
team that that you know, uh people, well, you know,
(06:11):
for me, so many coaches change, players change, and there's
so many people in that building, uh that that have
been there for a long time. And I was there
as a young young coach and there's still some people
there that I stay in contact with. So it would
be great probably in pre game to rhythm up and
say how to some.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
People Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (06:30):
Keeping keep the move back.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Their their offensive, their defense, what do you see? Well, obviously,
you know, every game is a challenge, and every every
game is a different, unique challenge and for us, we
need to focus on doing all the things that that
we do in our system. Uh, and understand that they'll
have a plan, uh for our rushers will have a
(06:58):
plan in terms of how they want to pack this game.
But we just have to make sure that we stay
true to who we are.
Speaker 8 (07:03):
How do you like?
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, they're there are two I mean great, great players
and and they do an excellent job moving them around.
Speaker 9 (07:16):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
You know, justin Jefferson's is elite. Addison is really really
really good. I mean he can make every every route,
he can get down the field with unbelievable speed. So
it's it's it's a huge challenge. I feel like every
week you're you're going up against some of these guys
that are just uh they're they're world beaters. I mean,
this is a a really really good group of playmakers.
Speaker 7 (07:35):
How how did Miles move around that he doesn't have injury?
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I think he looked like himself obviously moved around well.
Uh and you know that's a credit to Miles to
get get himself ready for these games him.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Uh, why earlier weak?
Speaker 5 (07:53):
You know, do you know that you know a him
of the plays or plays you know, it doesn't they
don't hope to achieve that much.
Speaker 8 (08:03):
How much?
Speaker 5 (08:03):
What's the biggest thing he had to do the transition
from where he was and used in to hear what's
kind of the biggest.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I think for any player when you get to a
new place, it's so often is terminology and translating one
word that means something to another word that means something
that's the same. I mean, then you get into you
can get into it where our word may not mean
exactly what they're He had a similar code word.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
So there's there's just a lot of unlearning that has
to happen. Uh. Fortunately for us, he's very very intelligent.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
He's been in a bunch of different systems, so he's
kind of heard it all quote unquote.
Speaker 9 (08:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
So he's done a nice job with this week. We'll
see how it goes over the next forty eight.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah, James has done an outstanding job, uh with with
us in just a short amount of time. You don't
We're just talking about the period that we do after
practice for our young players to develop them, and that
that's really James is running the show there and we
are at the Cleveland Browns. We're very intentional about development
and having a guy like James heading that up is
(09:15):
we're very fortunate.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
Would specifically Saturday before how's that going to do this?
Speaker 9 (09:20):
Spread?
Speaker 3 (09:22):
H Yeah, I'll probably see a lot more of the grove,
you know, go for a walk, Yeah, Saturday afternoons or
kind of just get off your feet and watch TV
or have the TV watch you.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
In terms of do you think either of you were
working receivers that you guys signed off the tricks have
a chance to.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Contribute, Yeah, I think so, Mary Kay.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
I think both our young players that we're trying in
different areas see where they can contribute, whether it's offense,
special teams. But really like how those guys have been working.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
How much did this Being.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
An international guy contribute into this?
Speaker 6 (09:56):
Being the first guy into those kind of.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
St did not really factor into it.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
You know, there's a lot goes into making decisions like that,
and certainly understanding that we were traveling and those type
of things, but really ultimately we were making those decisions.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
You're trying to just do what's best for the team.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Up next, quarterback Dylan Gabriel relished the opportunity for his
first career NFL start.
Speaker 8 (10:21):
Is this kind of you know, just irregular week gone
for you with the travel and the change and everything different.
Speaker 9 (10:31):
For sure, I'd be alive if I said it wasn't.
But you know, for me, there's there's comfort there being
from Hawaii. Uh, there's a lot of reminiscent of when
we travel as a team together and you know we'd
have six to eight hour flights to look forward to,
and I just think, you know, our team prepared us
for it. So we're extremely excited altogether. And now that
(10:54):
we're here, it's a lot easier to settle.
Speaker 7 (10:56):
In start a quarterbacks as hud.
Speaker 9 (11:00):
You jail He he hasn't uh told me that, but
Joe is a great dude, and he's you know, he's
just a a guy you look to and I is
very calming, has played a bunch of ball, So you
just have a lot of confidence when you know you
see him in huddle.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
How different has this.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Week really been?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Now that you guys are forty eight hours out?
Speaker 9 (11:20):
You know, we try to make it as similar of
a week as you can, and and that's just you know,
our process and I felt like we have for for
other than yesterday traveling in and maybe doing a walk
through instead of a a true practice and a and
a jog through. But other than that, we tried to,
you know, make it as similar as possible, said.
Speaker 8 (11:39):
That you run this offense like it's your own, and
everybody that we.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
Talked to the past few days just keeps talking about
your poise, your confidence.
Speaker 8 (11:48):
Can you sort of address how did you arrive at
that point already as a working.
Speaker 9 (11:53):
Yeah, I think there's so many similar moments in your lifetime,
and although it's a different level, I think the feelings
are the same, and I've gotten better each time I've
felt that feeling, and for me, I've just attacked it
that way. There's a lot of comfort in the scheme
because you know, that's part of how they you know,
got me here is I've done it before. And I
(12:15):
think the confidence in that is now you're learning new personnel,
new people, but you come together and have ultimate confidence
in the whole concepts that we run.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
Has there been a different interaction for you with your
teammates and how they're in the starter and what has
that been like for you?
Speaker 9 (12:31):
Not necessarily, you know, I think I've always challenged myself
to lead without status, and I think it was a
you know, a challenge early for me because it was
different a role I've probably never been in. But I
think that ultimately helped me to when now you do,
you know, get the spot to roll with, you know,
you can just attack it the same way. So it
(12:53):
challenged me in that way. But now it's probably just
a little more talking in the huddle and more reps.
But ultimately it'll it'll be good on you know, Sunday
and we get to go.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
I'm assuming you probably had hundreds of messages from people
this week, maybe a handful of especially.
Speaker 9 (13:07):
Being yeah, you know a couple I think all the
coaches that have great relationships with you know, and I
don't want to miss any but you know my high
school coach, coach Rod, coach Hype from UCF, coach Golish
who's my well see there as well coach Leb.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Coach Stein Coast Landing.
Speaker 9 (13:27):
So all those guys, you know, people you appreciate, and
then also my family. But for the most part too,
it's it's something that you prepare for, you know, and
you're ready for. So it's not a text of congratulations
of some sort. It's like, you know, it's your time to.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Go show, show your folks will be here right.
Speaker 9 (13:43):
They won't be so fun. Fact, need to get my
dad a passport, So we're learning about that second just
a little later.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
In the week.
Speaker 9 (13:53):
So you know, Mom and dad, it's from Hawaii. You
can imagine that flights even further than what we just did.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
So going back to the.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
Ex your college experience, obviously college approp to different things.
That's what you've seen defensively that the various schemes. How
much have you been able to kind of bring that
along with you as you know, you're adjusting to what
you've seen how.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
The NFL defenses.
Speaker 9 (14:16):
I think it's interesting because you know, in college, sometimes
you know, some may say the lack of personnel, they
may have to add on to the scheme and do
things that are unique to help in the run game
and in the past game. I think in the NFL,
obviously personnel is at all time high, so there's extreme
confidence and maybe coverages that you've repped a bunch of times.
(14:38):
But for this, I think you take pride in as
an OC or DC in the scheme that you have
and you want to rep at a high level. Ultimately,
you're going to do what your players are good at.
But you know, as you continue to go up. It's
a lot about personnel and putting guys in the right
place to go make their plays. So just understanding that
and then understanding as a show what they're trying to do.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
To block out you had.
Speaker 8 (15:02):
You took some really harsh, harsh criticism during training camp,
and you guys always say that you block out the noise.
Speaker 7 (15:09):
Did you truly block all of that out or did
some of it seep in? And if so, did it
actually fuel you?
Speaker 4 (15:17):
You know?
Speaker 9 (15:17):
For me, I've always lived by like I I'd rather
be uninformed than misinform and everyone has the right to
in to their opinion and I understand that. But instead
of I don't necessarily block out the noise, is just
cheasing not to be a part of it. And uh,
I think that's just a singular focus, you know, and
emotional regulation of there's a job to do and there's
(15:38):
something that you just wanna focus on and do at
a high level.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
So that's what I do.
Speaker 9 (15:43):
Like I said, I respect everyone's opinion and everyone, you know,
can say whatever they want.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
It's freedom of speech.
Speaker 8 (15:49):
When we'll go more about well, when the one I
try to go cool on, did you think you could
win the strut into the.
Speaker 9 (15:55):
Season before you know, it wasn't ever about winning a job,
you know, it just playing at my best, playing at
a high level. I think when you continually do that
and you're focused on your game, uh, that that'll naturally come,
you know. And the one time you're thinking about, you know,
I got to go win something, you you just you know,
over overreact or overdo rather than just serving the moment.
(16:18):
And that's what I've been about the whole time.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
As you've worked with.
Speaker 9 (16:26):
This role.
Speaker 7 (16:26):
How is he held you specifically?
Speaker 5 (16:28):
And did you guys have Taylor in the office to
your skill set that sends to make you feel comfortable
and acquimated.
Speaker 7 (16:36):
So how has he just helped you this week?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (16:38):
I think just a bunch of conversations, you know, and
I think there's always a meeting prior to a meeting,
you know, and being able to have those conversations prior
so you can understand what we're trying to do and
do it at a high level. The more you see it,
the more comfortable you are with it. And I said
the last time, but the more turns you got at it,
like Coach Musk says, like you're just gonna have a
bunch of confidence to comfort there. So just trying to
(17:01):
do that, whether it's film, whether it's walk throughs, whether
it's walking or you know, looking at a play call
and being able to you know, say the play and
then go through the progression. So uh, kind of a
bit mixture of all that, but you know, trying to
do it as best as possible.
Speaker 7 (17:17):
Have you worked on how many people are going to
be watching from Hawaii? What time those days it's going
to be.
Speaker 9 (17:23):
I haven't thought that far, but I would guess early
in the morning. It is interesting, like I've always been
used to it when I was in Florida to Hawaii,
like a six hour difference. Texting family is a little different,
but I really haven't even looked into it. But it's
probably like double right, twelve hours eleven, yeah, two more.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
How do you feel your preparations, not the part about
traveling and the team, but how do you feel since.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
You were in the start?
Speaker 9 (17:53):
I take pride in it, you know. I think the preparation,
you know, allows you to be confident on game day,
you know, and and really not even think about schematically
what you're trying to do. But it's like you get
the formation. You already know the play call, and I
think that's something that I've always took pride in from
every level and I just continue to master that. You know,
I've even had four weeks prior to this to to
(18:14):
master how we go through a week. And for me,
it's how do you fit in film in between there?
You know, how do you fit in meals and as
you can imagine everything in between, and you know, I
just continue to master it and don't think I'll ever stop.
Speaker 7 (18:29):
Hassolved.
Speaker 8 (18:30):
It's going to be in London.
Speaker 9 (18:34):
Yeah, never thought about obviously never happened. So there's a
first for everything. But like I learned from my first
there's you know, it ain't never gonna be perfect, but
you know, the the preparation is key and go out
there and do what you do. But you know, we're blessed,
we're grateful. You know, we play a beautiful game and
we'll be able to do it in front of New fans.
(18:55):
And I think that's that's what football is all about.
The diversity, Uh, the amount of people that love this
game and are around it. Like there's beauty in that,
and you know that's what I'm most appreciative.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Of defensive tackle Mason Graham talked about the improvements he's
made in the pass rush game in Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
You look at the other you know, especially on the interior.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
The injuries they have, you know, as an.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Interior pass rusher, I mean, what's that has to sort
of excite you?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
The opportunities that might be there for you guys on Sunday.
Speaker 10 (19:22):
Yeah, I feel like there's opportunity every week for us
and then no matter who we're going against. So, uh,
it's really just about us and how we execute. I
feel like only us can stop us through.
Speaker 8 (19:34):
How about the switch to Dyla and just another person
from your rookie class to go out there and try
to shine for you guys.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (19:45):
No, I feel like we all feel great. You know,
I've seen it for myself. You know, I'm closer with
Dylan than some of the other guys. So, but he's
just been preparing himself like he's a starter since week one.
I feel like he does everything the right way and
he's gonna get his opportunity this week, and uh, we're
all behind him.
Speaker 8 (20:01):
What are some of the things that you've seen in
him out there on the field.
Speaker 10 (20:06):
Uh, he just seems poised all the time, doesn't see panicked. Great,
I can control on the offense, especially in the huddle,
keeps everyone on the same page.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
On your field.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Uh, I feel good.
Speaker 10 (20:24):
And this is my first time really getting out of
the country besides just the regular stuff out in the.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Northern America.
Speaker 10 (20:32):
But I feel like it's a good opportunity and I
feel like it's gonna be more happening more frequently too.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
And how about the fact that, uh, a couple of
guys have mentioned that Carson Wentz is prone to that
you're over, So are you kind of looking at your
chops a little bit to get up in here and.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
Dig that ball up?
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (20:53):
I mean I feel like on defense, we haven't taken
the ball away enough for us to win. So that's
really what of our focal points of you know, moving forward,
is creating more turnovers and getting the ball back to
the offense with.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
There being new offensive lineman or there are specific things
you're looking for on film with their techniques and those
kind of things that you feel are really important for
you to know as.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
You go against them.
Speaker 10 (21:16):
Yeah, I feel like every guy's different, you know, they
have their own things that they struggle with or they're
uh have strengths with. So we kind of just watched
the film as a group and kind of just dissect
what we see, you know, that player as and how
we can attack them for hours.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Away in the game.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
How different has this week.
Speaker 10 (21:35):
Then for you guys, I feel like it hasn't been
honestly that much different.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Mixed it fort yesterday. You know, we came out the
plane and we.
Speaker 10 (21:42):
Didn't really have a full on practice, but we got
moving around and got the blood flown again and we
had a normal Friday, so.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
It seems all good.
Speaker 8 (21:53):
What would you guys actually be able to get into
the city and see any London before the game?
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (21:59):
I think we have had a little time yesterday to
go see and I think we have some more time today.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
So I didn't go.
Speaker 10 (22:04):
Yesterday, but I might go for a few hours today
and go check it out.
Speaker 7 (22:07):
And what are you looking for to see?
Speaker 10 (22:10):
I wanted to go see Big Ben and then just
kind of just go with the flow with what the
other d Lineman guys wanted to do.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Is there any food specific to London that you're looking
forward to try?
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Uh? No, no, really, I haven't really heard. I haven't
really heard much. So it's a little flight here.
Speaker 7 (22:30):
How cool is it you guys?
Speaker 10 (22:37):
Yeah, coach the fantasy keeps on, you know, calling it
what it is. It's a business trip. You know, we
came here to you know, play football game and win
a football game. So that's really what we came here for.
And you know, it's hard to keep yourself locked in
sometimes when you're out of the country or somewhere we're
not used to. But I feel like we've done a
pretty good job and good job of you know, just
staying focused and getting ready for Sunday.
Speaker 11 (23:00):
So they said, y at played international games before or
anyone that told you what to expect.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Uh, they didn't really say much.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
They said, if it's a new place, you haven't really
been to go check out the city, but just stay
locked in.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
It's easy to get uh distracted.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
What about a stay in experience?
Speaker 11 (23:17):
You know there's gonna be different in cleaning the North.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Standard away game in the US.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
That's what I heard.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (23:22):
A lot of people said that it's actually pretty loud
over here, so uh excited for that makes you.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Go back to your guys' rookie class. What is it
that makes do you think that has made you guys
so special, so able to you know, so early in
your career.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
So many guys make.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Make contribute, contribute to make big you know, have have
big impacts on the steam.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (23:44):
I feel like it's all, you know, just about the guys.
Everyone's kind of just locked in and you know, we
all wanna just wanna win games together, and we wanna
you know, take Cleveland, you know, and bring 'em up
again and start winning some games here.
Speaker 8 (23:59):
Nice? And how did your first four weeks in the league?
Speaker 7 (24:02):
And is there a considerable joke between the college gaame.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
O the pros?
Speaker 8 (24:08):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (24:09):
I feel like my first wor four weeks were good.
I wouldn't say it was excellent or uh anything, just
things I need to clean up and get better out.
You know, Everything's not gonna be perfect, but just getting
on better, uh on what I need to do and
focused on that. You know what was the second part
of that?
Speaker 8 (24:28):
Has that been a considerable league between the college garays.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Part of the Uh?
Speaker 10 (24:33):
I'd just say experience is the biggest thing. You know,
everyone everyone's here for a reason, and it's played a
lot of snaps for a reason.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
So I'd just say experience.
Speaker 8 (24:44):
Jimor Forts was talking yesterday about how important it is
for you guys as a defense to really support Dylan
and put him in the best situations possible. So has
that been a point of emphasis and and what are you.
Speaker 7 (24:55):
Hope to do in every heart?
Speaker 10 (24:57):
Yeah, it's definitely been a point emphasis. I feel that
the biggest thing for us is just starting fast, you know,
not uh, setting back the offense any times that we
don't need to always putting them in good positions, just
like how we want them to put us in good positions,
uh to succeed.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
So really, yeah, and you know there's.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
True change maybe your relationship with your teammates as well,
getting to no different people who buy those spenders much time.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
We love the lost of you guys.
Speaker 10 (25:24):
Yeah, I feel like that a little bit. You know,
we're all staying over here across the street and just
kind of roll together. So just spending a lot of
time together.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
And can can you since you know Dylan pretty well,
can you speak to his leadership, his energy, his you
know sort of as and dipsyas and.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
That he displays out there.
Speaker 10 (25:42):
Yeah, I feel like he's always you know, looking to
bring guys up, and he's a big, uh energy guy.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
At least to me he is.
Speaker 10 (25:51):
He just he's just really himself when he's out there
having a good time, and I feel like that just
brings the best out of everyone else, and I feel
that's kind.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Of what you need.
Speaker 10 (26:01):
Yeah, I mean it's a nice probably one of the
nicer minivans you can have. He's got leather in there.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
So finally defensive end. Miles Garrett talked about playing his
first game in London.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Is there ever a doubt you were going to actually
be able to play?
Speaker 2 (26:19):
No?
Speaker 12 (26:20):
IM never say that kind of guy. So you have
to kill me to keep me from being on the
field pretty much.
Speaker 8 (26:29):
Can you just talk about the international game and how
it's growing, and you're such a world traveler, how do
you enjoy.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Being over here?
Speaker 9 (26:38):
And what do you think of.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
What the NFL is doing in terms of just broad.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
And it's.
Speaker 12 (26:44):
Now. I think it's it's rather fun and interesting to
see the game continue to grow, become world wide and
continue to to meet and adopt other cultures and then
being to see, you know, what we do at a
high level, you know, as professionals, not just seeing it
(27:04):
on TV, but you know, sometimes getting to to to
meet the players and see how they interact with them.
I think you know those kind of things you know
you you've seen in other sports. But I think I
was just a little bit more unique than than any other.
And uh looking forward to no playing a game and
and uh on Tottenham STATEDI, I don't think it'll be
a a hell of an experience your rookie year.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
You guys came over if like remember correctly, what's in
the experience? Did what's the difference between the experience you
had then in this experience for you beyond you know,
the experience you have in the league.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
I didn't go off. Yeah, I was doing what y'all doing.
Speaker 12 (27:41):
That's it?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Oh wows when.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
You see three potentially three backup off into one or
for the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
What do you think that makes no difference?
Speaker 12 (27:50):
And now at the end of the day, I coulda
prepared and as if you know their starting line was
out there and U last I checked, Uh, I wanted
the highest paid no tackles is out there and and
and uh playing some good balls.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
So I have to be at my very best.
Speaker 12 (28:02):
And and uh make sure the guys around me are
doing the same.
Speaker 10 (28:06):
Did you need to use.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
Jerzy last summer when you wanna get some of the practices.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Great holding that thing.
Speaker 12 (28:12):
Uh you know, maybe a little bit, but uh, you know,
I'll see what happens system wells.
Speaker 8 (28:18):
Can you just talk about the quarterback change that you
guys have had this week? How do you feel about it?
And what impact do you think you just might have on.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
On the whole team?
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Really?
Speaker 12 (28:31):
Uh, I mean I I think he just has a
youthful exuberance. You know, he he brings up a you know,
just a different vibe, different attitude and uh no, he
just always has a smaller his face. He's he's got
a lot of energy and uh, you know, l looking
forward to seeing uh you know, how he how he
moves around the pocket and and how he plays the game.
(28:52):
You know, this will be a differ different pace and
than what he's you know, been used to and uh
these are uh no against uh uh the the ones
and it's it's early on you know where we'll be
counting on him. But you know he can also count
on us to to be a lets to support him
and each phase of the game. You know, he doesn't
have to look forward to, you know, trying to take
over or you know, do too much. You know, he
(29:14):
just has to play within himself, execute the scheme, and
a lot of game to come to him.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
He talked about Christian Derris obviously have a left tackle.
Uh you move around a lot on the defense. Will
you hope to be moved away from him more often?
Given all the injuries? It's not something you look forward
to doing, or is it you wanna go against the best.
Speaker 12 (29:33):
I love going against the best, and I I like
I like playing on the right side just because that's
what I'm I'm used to. And uh, he'd always uh no,
mix it up, go left right, and you know sometimes
we you know, go through the three technique. But uh,
you know, if there's someone who's the the very best
in that at my position, i'm'a go. I'm we're gonna
(29:54):
face off. And after he was on the left side, well,
I gotta make sure I I go over there and
you know, see what he's about. And I think that was,
you know, what last week was about. And wanted to
to see Penay and Christians on my side. So I'll
take the uh the run of that duty and I
look forward to it.
Speaker 10 (30:10):
Well.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Else of cars is evening with Sacks.
Speaker 9 (30:13):
He's first his last year games for as she kids
do what she was sacked six times.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
What have you guys been seeing interest take advantage of
that and being able to look like gating pressure at all.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
I think he just he holds on to the ball.
Speaker 12 (30:28):
I mean he he's known to be a uh a
a playmaker. You know, he he wants to uh you know,
make that that big playing and uh it's help. It's
not a bad thing, know you you want that as
a as an offense. But and uh in the opposition
that he does take sacks cause he does hold on
to the ball. So you know, we have to continue rushing,
you know, not assume that the play is over, and
(30:49):
make sure that we can contain him. Know he does
have uh the legs to get out of uh you know,
some tackles and he will know duck under a lot
of guys who who come in you know, just you know,
flying through room. So just had to have to uh
contain 'em and uh know, be intelligent about how we rush.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
Well, it's do you have a chouldren joy especially for
children if they want to go, because it's so interested
in dinosaurs and full of them to the g what
kind of dinosome are you want to be placing dolposit.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
Quota by one?
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Uh? I prefer to be a t rex.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
How do you feel opinions?
Speaker 8 (31:22):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (31:22):
Sowhat rookie that he's making bamichial love?
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Is there a warmatone?
Speaker 7 (31:27):
How do you feel play?
Speaker 8 (31:28):
Who's a rookie like that?
Speaker 7 (31:30):
He's playing so well?
Speaker 12 (31:31):
Oh, she's cool? Uh, he is playing well. I mean
he's stopping run at a a high rate. And he's
also uh no, rushing well. And he's he's been learning
a lot from uh a leak and and learning how
to to rush with him and uh, you know, taking
no uh no, some of his style and uh adapting
it to his own, you know, a little bit more finesse.
(31:52):
You know, he's a he's a uh powerful guy. He
he's able to to manipulate no guys to moment him
and and and uh you know, work through the hands.
But he's able to to work a little bit from
that center aga uh into his game and to keep
them off guard.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
Oh, how much go to work?
Speaker 8 (32:05):
A lot of guys have talked about how much poise
and confidence that Dylan Gabriel plays with. Uh, can you
maybe address what you've seen when he goes against you
guys you.
Speaker 7 (32:15):
Know on the show team and things like that.
Speaker 12 (32:18):
I mean, he just he runs the offense like this
is his offense. And that's all you can ask for
for from any quarterback.
Speaker 7 (32:25):
You know.
Speaker 12 (32:25):
He you know, comes out spawn his face, chest out,
gives a call and it looks like he's been doing
it for for years the way he he manages UH
the offense. So they're looking for him to doing the
same thing on Sunday miles with these.
Speaker 11 (32:38):
UH the increasing numbers of UH international games with the NFL,
how much the players think about or talk about the
playing surfaces or the infrastructures, whether is the practice field
of the games along about Sunday.
Speaker 12 (32:50):
There's not a day that goes by that we don't
talk about the playing surface.
Speaker 8 (32:53):
HM.
Speaker 12 (32:53):
And you know, we would very much prefer to play
on on grass, you know, slippery not no. I think
the record shows that turprets a little bit more prone
to cause injuries to us, know when we play played
the game on it, so that that'll be a topic
(33:14):
of debate for for years to come and there will
only be more data to back up that point.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
But you know, we we prefer to.
Speaker 12 (33:20):
Play on grass and I think it's just better for
for outdoor sports in general.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
To see a game in I was just going to say,
how much would you like to see a game in Japan?
Speaker 12 (33:30):
Dame Oh, I'd love to see the game in Japan. No,
I think we'll be big excepted pretty well.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Then I'll do it.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
