Speaker 2 (00:36):
All right, what's You're live? On a sun Kiss reaction
Monday edition of Cleveland Browns Daily. I am merely Bo.
He is the great Z. How you living, buddy, I'm
living well. Your lights on? Your lights on? Oh you're back.
Look at the back end. You've been unplugged the back
of the mic. Why have you been unplugged? Why has
(01:00):
he been unplugged? Take it down there, now there, now
we're back.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It was probably because we were moving stuff around with
you being out on Friday and camera shots.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
So that's.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, take ownership. I don't so. We had the great
Timmy recon here on Friday. Yeah, I believed, of course.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
I'm bummed that I missed him because he was supposed
to be here on when no, no, yeah, supposed to
be here Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
It was inclement apparently to inclement something. Yeah, he was great.
Uh watch it big I interview is always from you.
It was it was great.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Yeah, No, I'm excited excited about that. Obviously, I was
bummed that I missed that. It's like there's something seems
to be It's not like I'm all that often.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
How dare Tequila Fela not look in here as he
walks by his collection of those PATISONI is an incredible,
amazing Patagonia quarter zip. It is, I would say in
a Southwestern motif. He has a lot of it. He
enjoys that he enjoys at Southwestern motif. Yeah, he should
give us a look. We'll see. I'm good. A heck
of a heck of a week brother a week Yeah,
(02:09):
I had a great documentarian shared some of your trials
over the weekend.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yes, you were in New York before that, so it
started Monday where we and I talked about it. I'll
go quickly on this part. But so we're getting having
work done in our bathroom, so now we need to
relocate to another bathroom and shower. Well, those pipes had frozen,
so we then didn't. Now we didn't, So now we
were to the kids bathroom on the on the top floor. Yeah,
(02:35):
so that happens. That's like stressing me out because you
don't really know until it unfreezes if it's going to
that's burst or whatnot.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Turns out not so great.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Then you have Tuesday and Wednesday, which were so cold,
unbelievably cold days. Yes, and you would maybe think that
the stress of those colds leads to what happens later
in the week. Go to New York Thursday, see my boys,
d strom Amanta. We have a great time, great meal,
great night, awesome. Come back home Friday and we're having
(03:08):
like a dinner party Saturday. Kids come back Sunday and
I walk in the house with Miss Cammick.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
It's cold in here.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, yeah, go look at the thermostat says it's like
sixty two.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
I'm like, wait a second, and it says that it's
on then set to seventy and whatnot. So we'd had
an issue with it before I reset thermostat. I'm like, okay,
maybe we got it here. Blah blah blah. Well it
turns out not. When we came home for dinner, it
was even colder. We go to sleep that night, we
were not equipped. We don't have space heaters just on
the ready. There's nowhere to go get them.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It's no. Yeah, I don't know. A Walmart would be
your best opportunity. So we try to sleep that night.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
I mean, it got down to forty nine in our home,
so think about that.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
That is insane.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
So like I slept in full hoodie flannel PJ.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Like, yeah, socks, ever, it didn't freeze it, spoon it
up by yourself this yeah, of course, yeah, I mean
it we got to do. So we wake up that
night I order. I'm like, it's got to be a thermostat,
or we have an old thermostat. It's done this before.
We fix it once, but maybe this is the end
of it. So I order a thermostat from Amazon that
(04:17):
will be delivered between seven and eleven am am. So
I'm like, it's always I don't know that I can
always trust some on those times they become a little
bit looser with their delivery times. Well, here's how it is.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
If you don't need the thing really to be delivered overnight,
just happens to fall in the overnight bucket, it'll be there.
It turns out that when you do need the thing,
as in this case, we'll not be there. So it's
really great. You get to track the truck. So they're like,
you know, at when I get up at like eight thirty,
they're like, oh, you know, this is the window. Still
(04:49):
it's seven stops away from you. They have seven drop offs.
I'm like, well, how long can an Amazon drop off take?
Not that long? And you just got to drive around
and they were like, the car was fifty at that time,
fifteen minutes from my house. Okay, So I'm watching it.
It's moving, it's moving. Now you're two away yep. Then
all of a sudden, the truck goes off the map
and it's like they have a few more stops to make.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Oh, no, can I meet the truck somewhere? I'll meet it.
I would have.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
So now it's going I'm online. They're like, we don't
even have any way to get in touch with the trucks.
We have no idea, Like, we have no idea, but
it'll come by the end of the day. I'm like, well,
I don't have heat, and I believe it's the thermostad.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
I need it now. Sorry.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Sorry, So then I go and I go to home
depot and get a thermostat.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, so get it.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Come back and I'll return the Amazon one, which, by
the way did not end up coming until about nine
thirty that night.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, I've noticed that that they're not helpful on the
way though.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
I did see an Amazon truck with its flashes pulled
over on the side of the road, like not near
a house.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, So I pull up.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Next to it and I'm like, hey, are you because
it was I think it was a lazy aim Christina.
I'm like, are you Cristina. She's like no. I'm like,
are you going to Pheasant Court? Because it was just
like five minutes from my house. Maybe it's make jibs
with what Yeah? No, so okay, fine, people are honking
at me because we're on a two lane road. People
are Amazon. It was on the way to home depot.
(06:14):
To be fair to go out of my people are
honking at me. Behind enough, I'm trying to find my Yeah,
I got real problems. I got no heat my mouse,
so I go and get the thermostat. Got to tell
you something I don't know I've ever been more proud
of myself. Took the old thermostat off, disconnected all the
(06:34):
wires all of it, hooked up the new one, which
is a Google Nest, wired it. Myself got on the
wall works, it's working, Okay, get it going. What's happening
was the thermostat would connect, it would go for five minutes,
and then it would shut off and like shut off
the power even back, so it felt I'm like, okay, maybe.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Something's like trippic. So I look, circuits are all good.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Every time I would turn switch off that's on your furnace, like,
it would go again and then after two minutes click off,
same thing. So I'm like, okay, maybe something shorten out.
Get a guy on his way out, happy to come
on a Saturday. By the way, I have to say
they took great care of me. A new image, so
if you're ever in a bind, a new image Anderson,
they were unbelievable. But it is as you know, they
(07:23):
that industry doesn't really work on the weekend. No, if
you would like them in that situation, it's gonna be
a pretty penny.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
So my first guy, Tony comes out.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
He looks at it and he's like, oh, I think
it's this this, And then we realized soon and they're
after not the blower fans not coming out, So the
heat the reason it's shutting off is that he's actually
not blowing away, and now it's getting too hot and
it's shutting off as a safety.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Sure, so you need to have that blower fan working. Well,
oh well how much might that be?
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Oh it's about seventeen, honurred Bucks on a fifteen year
old furnace.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Rest is history.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
He's like, that's like putting like a new something into
a beater, that's what he called it.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I was like, okay, okay, I said, okay, so now
what are we talking about? We need a new furnace.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
Great, okay, So he leaves, Wayne comes out after that.
Who couldn't have been nicer? Uh, we get it ordered
that night and they just did saw it and he
they had solved it this morning. So from Saturday to Monday.
So new thank you very.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Much, good job into them. Yeah, it's a new image,
a new furnace, you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
So I got the notice while I was on my
way here, actually that from my Google home that we
had juice Baby, We're back.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
When I saw miss k the Great Documentarian post a
video an image. This was probably Sunday morning when I
saw it, an image of you with a stocking cap
like the park Parker you have and a stocking cap
I'm going something is a skew, something is a miss.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
So we ended up. So here's the other part of it.
So this all happened Saturday, that they come out and
do all this stuff. Well, Saturday night we're hosting three
other couples at our house for a bowling aise that
I made for twelve hours that had been i'd been working.
Those are the images that we catured and so we're like, hey,
here's the deal, and they're like, no, we're forging ahead.
(09:13):
Everybody was in.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Anytime you have six different what was it, four couples
total accounting couples, Yeah, anytime you have four couples and
you're all trying to do something at the same time,
it's super easy to find a date that works. Now,
it was very easy.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
It automatically went like, if we don't do this, it's
gonna be in April.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Would be the earliest first date that was thrown out.
There's no way, So anybody who has children, it's over.
There's no plan, there's it's all occupied, there's.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
No free So so we decided to forge ahead. I
guess say Miss K was a trooper. I think at
first she was not too I'd call it luke warm
to the idea, but then she got warmed up to
the idea and we have everybody over.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
Now.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
I did something that is probably not recommended, but we
ended up getting some like this part's recommended, some oil
filled radiator type heaters. They work so much better than
the towers like a blowing Yeah. It just fills up,
gets hot and radiates that heat around like. So we
had that. We had one of those in the living room,
(10:13):
we had one in our bedroom. We had a couple
more like three other heaters in the kitchen. We had
the fireplace going. But what I really did what turn
the tide. And I don't think it's recommended. So I'm
gonna go ahead and preface that I don't think this
is for the faint at heart. I'm like, we got
to get it up into the sixties, like yeah, yeah,
I got to get into the sea.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
So we go.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
I go down and we have one of those tall
propane torches that you'd see, you know, a restaurant outdoor
that has kind of like that metal circle around it
that reflects the heat back down. So I go and
do that. I look at you know, can you do this?
I look up online you know obviously miss Kay with child,
(10:57):
we have to be very very careful. And they said
that you know, the only danger, it's really not dangerous,
but if there was a danger, it would be that
it would run, that carbon monoxide would be inured.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah, so I get. We have carbonoxides.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Thanks to the Nana, we have carbonoxide tectors on every
level of our home.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Recommend it for all of you. It's a silent killer.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
So I put those like right where the torch was,
two of them so we could double up and if
one was faulty, there's no way they're both faulty.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Well, I guess there was a way. But and ran
it and that's all that sucker. That'll do it change
the whole house. Yeah, and not that long of time.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
And then we got turned it off, got it out
of there, uh safely, but got the heat back and
we were in a we were in a great spot.
So that was Yeah, that was the tail of woe.
And so Buddy Sunday woke up still nothing, lots of fire.
Now the kids are coming over and so we had
gotten enough to kind of get like the first floor,
but now we have people sleeping upstairs.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
There's not a whole lot of hot air.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
That yeah, there's still not a ton and it still
it turns out it's not it doesn't transfer to other
areas of hou hire.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
In Bryce's room boy scout style.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, So they both were like no, I'm like, do
you guys? I said, well, you can take these space
heaters to your rooms and use them because when we're sleeping,
we just need it in our room and then we'll
get the rest of the house going when we get up.
And they're like, no, no, we like it cold when
we sleep. So they all went to sleep great, and
then when they woke up they were freezing and now
fortunately went.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
To deal again. But that was that was my brother.
It's just and stuff, home stuff. Being a homeowner is great.
I love it.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
It comes with unexpected costs and stress and well, and
it's also it can be whatever they want the price
to be.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Well, yeah, it doesn't need it. It's like the great
It's the Great Seinfeld where Castanz is explaining when Jerry's
getting the Volvo looked or the SOB looked at, and
Jerry George talks about the Johnson Rod. I don't even
know what a Johnson rod is. Oh, yeah, you gotta
have a Johnson. Same thing with this, like the blow
doesn't work, Let's just get you a new heater. You don't, yes,
you hope. I mean they're reputable, great, I did it.
You trust him. But at the same time, like who knows,
(13:02):
Like who knows? He could tell you anything, he'd say,
I actually, actually this new heater isn'tven gooden. If you
need six times this for this size house and it's
gonna be seventy five thousand dollars, you'd be like, well,
I guess, No, I would not. I don't know, I
would not guess. That's how crazy it is.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
It's unfortunately the kid who was you know, manages a
great many of properties in the state.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yeah, mogul.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
He has obviously a guy, and so we ran everything
and this guy was like just out the initial and
was like, yeah, no, you're good.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
They're good.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
They came in into the said a new image. They
crushed it and gave me a great deal. And I
am so grateful they to get me in. I can't imagine,
like this is not a this is the time when
I imagine a lot of people are in.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Oh yeah, fairly demonstrates yep. And so thank you. Heat
is back there you go. Have you ever had a
carbon monoxided alarm go off in your house?
Speaker 4 (13:52):
No?
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Thank goodness. We were Paydon was two, but the NBC
was terrifying moment. Beamsy was was two months yeah, two
months fresh yep. And we had just moved in a
month earlier to a house that we had down in
Wedgwood in Columbus, and it was kind of middle of
(14:15):
the day and all of a sudden they went off.
And if you've never had one go off, they don't
sound like fire alarms. They are louder and ours the system.
We talked to you, right, they do get out? Yeah,
I evacuate now all of that. And they triggered to
the fire department immediately. So we're like, what is going on?
(14:36):
We've been here like a month, Like, what is happening here?
And it was between Christmas and New Year's and we
what When I got like the boy, it was a
warm day and for December, I remember that it was
like in the high upper forties, low fifties. By the
time we got outside, it looked like it was like
Rescue Me the FX show, like six fire trucks, ambulance,
(14:59):
Like we're fine. Everybody's it's fine. Do you feel no, No, No,
we're good. Everybody's out. It's just fort We're good. Yeah,
And we had to evacuate. They would not let us
back in the house. Something the furnace had something that
was wrong with it. We had to replace the entire
furnace and we had just moved into the house. But
it was the same thing we actually lived with in
my in law's house for like a week while it
(15:19):
was all taken place. So, yeah, it's a mess. And
then you're gonna to your point like there's no way
that they can fix it quick enough. No, right, like
you're stuck, suck, you know. Yeah, brutal. It's been. I
think everything.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
Everything in my house from the major applying standpoint was
fifteen years old, give and take. So the water heater
went when we were in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's right for the Eagles game.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
Yeah, now this furnace, and then I'm sure pretty soon
the outdoor ac unit all.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Oh yeah, that's happening. We'll go. As predictable as all
that is. According to my children, yesterday's results were just
as predictable. I was informed by them at the In
the fourth quarter of the Bills Kansas City game, that
this was all predetermined. Dad. The super Bowl logo is
red and green, to which I lost it on them
and said, I can't have you believing this. I can
(16:15):
have you guys being this ignorant like h She was
like it's a little harsh. I'm like, no, I can't
have it. Yep, I cannot have it. Ye. Look, it's
not the most We both predicted this, right, or did
you pick to Washington? I picked Philly to win but
not cover, so they obviously, and I picked Washington to
win to win, yeah, and then we both had both.
(16:35):
So it's what I expected the Super Bowl to be.
The first game got out of hand. There's that the
fumble after the missfield goal from Philly, the touchdown from Washington,
then the fumble and then the touchdown, and then it's
kind of cooked and they're chasing it was.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Cooked when they fumbled the kickoff, that's and then so
then Philly was able to go touchdown, touchdown, and then
they were going to get the ball to start saying
it was it was cooked.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
That was done, and then you're trying to chase it,
and that's it. It's funny. I'm curious if you had
this experience watching Buffalo in Kansas City. To me, there
was no drama because I knew he was going to
get it again one way or another. Mahomes. I knew
he had enough timeouts. I knew that they had the
two minute warning, and I knew that if Buffalo even
gave him forty five seconds, he was going to get
(17:18):
down there. There was at no point where I thought
Buffalo to win the game, truly, at no point, and
it was a great game.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
I thought it was possible that when they settled for
the field goal, that Alan could get them down and
they could get touched on then there wouldn't have been
any time left.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
If he could have managed it right. I just didn't
have faith that they could even manage that right the clock.
There was still so much time on the fourth down,
there was still a lot of time, like they would
have to really milk first downs and be very efficient
to be able to do it, and I just didn't
have faith that they'd be able to do it. I
thought they could score, but I thought that'd be like
a minute twelve and no timeouts or something, or they'd
settle for a field goal and before they run it
(17:52):
out and then in which case I would say, well.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
He's gonna go do it? I mean, yeah, And we
have plenty of well why not. We talk a lot
about these games. But the fact that and Romo I
thought was great. On the final Kansaity possession, he was
on second, he goes, you do not run it. You
give Patrick Mahomes two chances to get a first down,
and sure enough, the next play was that kind of
sprint roll out to the right.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
They pick up that first down.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Because they almost picked up the first down too quickly,
they still needed to get one more. And then on
a third down, samajip Ryan, who had not touched the
football in the game, is where they go with it
and he picks up the first down.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
It's just that's incredible. They're incredible. Call on the blitz
on the corner blitz. They haven't called that all game.
And then they do it on short field, so he's
near the corner, is nearest to Alan of anybody, yep.
And the way they just have it just was perfectly called.
It throws him off his spot and then he's in
scramble mode.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Have you seen all the discourse between like Ben Solac
and and.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Then what's the beef?
Speaker 5 (18:53):
And then Ryan Fitzpatrick chimed in, no, what's the beef.
It's not necessarily a beef. It was just Solac. Actually,
he did a very good kind of five minute video
about that play, and basically what he said is that
the ball should have gone to Khalil Shakur, but he
also understood why it didn't based on what happened pre snip.
(19:14):
So so Solac says, basically he thinks he should have
swung it to Khalil Shakur. They ran kind of that
orbit and return. Now they run it, and he in
his video, he has a five minute video, and so
it's very smart about the game. They have a five
(19:35):
minute video and a lot of it is showing them
use this play. But it's always been against Man, so
they were expecting Man. Yep, they don't get Man. And
so when they didn't get Man, he's not thinking about
throwing the return to Shakir. Now he gets the immediate pressure,
two people unblocked. Now, at one point Solac in his
video stops it and says he's got still about three
(19:56):
yards of distance now, granted of people that are sprinting him.
He could have stop flipped his hips and thrown it
back to the left. I don't think that would have
been possible.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
So, with all due respect to Bensulec, and I have
no idea what his playing history is, I don't think.
But if you were to be at any level of
football and be the quarterback and to suggest that you
can with defenders going full bore and three yards of separation,
as if that's enough time to do that, yep, So
(20:24):
here's what you'd find that.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Here's what Fitzpatrick said in response to to Soli said,
I really actually really like your passionate knowledge for the game.
But sitting in your comfortable swivel chair with the heater
on in the house and a clicker on the hand
makes the game very easy. Having two unblocked, unimpeded defenders,
believe it or not, as pretty difficult to navigate. And
the interest of credibility, please don't ever pause the tape
again to talk about the space between the unblocked full
speed rushers and how the quarterback just needs to turn
(20:46):
his hips and make the throw.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
So that's when it's magic said.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
I'm moving to the topic case anyone wants to understand
more of the blitz is impossible to pick up with
a five man protection. The hope is that you're protected
inside out, so the free rushers are coming from the edges,
not the middle. The two things that could have helped
but hard to know pre snap were sliding the line
to the right and having the free edge rusher to
your left where a good quick throw to Shakur was,
or anticipating the blitz in the play call and leaving
him more protectors or at least chippers. Spags loves the
free safety blitz in big time moments. So when the
(21:10):
single receiver as a cut split so tighter the formation,
that blitz turns into a corner blitz, which is much
harder to detect. And then he said, somebody said to Fitzmagic,
how do you know all this stuff that the staff
doesn't seems between Romo Orlowski fits their answers to the chiefs,
I e.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Re inspecs.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
How come no coaching staff in the NFL as these answers,
but the media nails do. And FITZERI said, well, that's
the easy part, watching it happen, then criticizing their given opinion.
The difficult part is having answers for all the different
possibilities that can come up and executing them in the
game's biggest moments. Play colors are really good what they do,
but unfortunately they don't have the luxury of getting hit,
pause and rewind during the game, which is very true.
But here's it was also a fourth and five fourth
(21:47):
and five, so that's where they used labor swing out.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
That's where they usually to throw it on the other
side of the sticks. You don't want to have to
get through the sticks if you can help it. So
they show like in the Soul Like you know which
I'll hear.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
I'll retweet this whole exchange because then people can see
what we're talking about in real time. In the Soul
Like video, he shows where they use it in fourth
down situations, and it basically is the guy's got to
win and catch it. He usually catches eleven yards short
of the first down, and then it's gonna win to
win one on one or they out leverage him because
if it's man a lots of times when you run
that orbit, you're passing it, but then when you return
(22:23):
they're confused, and so in most of the cases he's
gone out there pretty unchecked and.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Then he's able to run in.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
So when he knew that it was zone and not man,
then he said, all right, that's not where my first
read is gonna be. I'm not gonna read the zone
in the middle of the field. They have, they have
all the guys going there. Now, the fact is he
still made an unreal throw. He did that should have
been caught by Dalton kincaid and was not.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
So at the end of the day, what he chose
to do and execute with his arm, well maybe not
necessarily the easiest. Now I don't think he could have
flipped his hips. When I watch this, he's on he's
on a full sprint back into his right at a
forty five degree angle with guys closing. If he had
to slip his hits, the ball's going to be thrown
then in front of his body, which, by the way,
is where where the rushers are coming from. So he's
actually to throw it left. He's actually putting the.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Ball through them almost or putting it right where they
can yeah bat it. So I don't think that was
a realistic possibility. But good discussion, good discourse, good game.
And then the Chiefs their ability to just close it
out right there and not play afraid because they just
have the supreme confidence. They're incredible, and I think that
they are seventeen and one in games they've tried. Yeah
(23:28):
this year. Yeah, who they lose to? I don't even
remember Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
It was Buffalo, Yeah, yeah, yep, Buffalo had beating them
and the Ravens in the regular or the Ravens boat
race the Bills in the regular season. One of the truth,
I don't know. Maybe the Ravens boat raced the Bills
in the regular season in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
The Chiefs twenty to thirty to twenty one in Buffaloe.
They lost to the Race thirty five in the regular
season in Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Yeah, their only loss they tried was a loss to
the Bills.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
To the Bills, I feel bad for Josh Allen thought
he played a good game. Did you see that there
are six playoff games in the history of the NFL
where a team has scored four touchdowns without turning the
football over and lost. It's only happened six times. The
Bills have lost two of those six to the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Well, I did not see that. They've they've been ousted
by them for the last five times they've been in
the postseason. They've been beaten by the Chiefs. It has
to hurt, and dude, I couldn't help. But when I'm
watching it, it just reminded me of the empathy I
felt for Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas and all those guys.
The only difference is this heartbreak is happening before the
(24:40):
Super Bowl. There's happened in the Super Bowl this, but
I think the team at reason this time, I think
this is almost worse. And I'm gonna tell you why.
It's the same team every time, and almost every game
is close. There's only one time the Chiefs boat raised him.
That was the first, like twenty twenty. Every other game
has been right down to the wire, that crazy overtime
game a couple of years ago. Change the rule, change
the rule from that. So that's it. To me. It's
(25:01):
almost more painful than the Super Bowl losses. Only one
of those Super Bowl games was competitive. They lost to
the Giants on the Norwood miss yea. Other than that,
they were raced in all of them. But this, I mean,
you're talking about three hundred and four times the Chiefs
have eliminated you. It's been tight, and it could have
gone either way and you couldn't get it done. And
I'm watching Alan the boys just cannot stand the Chiefs.
(25:22):
I don't know if it's just all the winning and
all that is my guess. This is a bigger discussion.
Have Sure, it's so easy to root for Buffalo, obviously
for obvious reasons. But why do we Why do we?
And I said with the Warriors same, why do we
hate greatness? We don't. I think we like it and
then we're like, okay, now you're too great. We like
it to a point, and then it's too great, and
(25:43):
then you got to start building tearing it down. I
think you become sick of seeing the same things. We
get sick of so much success. It happens in college
sports all the time, all the time.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Those are rigged games, though not the games are rigged,
but that is a rigged setup in terms of your
ability to spend money now or in the old.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Days, it wasn't though, Like I can think of many
of instances, whether it was Tebow Tyler, Hansborough like you
Laterner in a previous generation, grand Hill, like you accomplished
so much and then it's like we love you, we
love you. The Levey then oh my god, just go away.
I see it with the Heisman all the time, like
where they don't want to give it to somebody a
second time because they're just fatigue. And I think it
was this way with the Bills. I think it was
(26:21):
a way with the Warriors. I'm sure it was this
way with the Lakers and the Bowl. Maybe not the Bulls.
It feels like nobody really hated the Bulls but the
three and three with two off in between. But yeah,
I think it's just fatigue of seeing the same thing
over and over and over again. But yeah, they were,
but they can't stand him. I was like at one
point it like Beams, He's like Patrick Mahomes sucks. I'm like,
(26:43):
dude of things. But it's not that it is not that,
it's definitely not that, but like maybe it's because I
think it's just that they get the other thing is
is And you have to remember this. When they're broadcasting
an AFC Championship game, they are broadcasting not of the
die herds to watch every game. They're broadcasting for everyone
who's jumping into it now. So for every time that
(27:05):
CBS decides to show Taylor Swift with with Travis Kelsey's parents.
It's for those people. They're not for those of us
that watch every week game. It's for the people who
are jumping in to watch late. Is what it is.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
Do you Why do you think, like, for example, Tiger
Woods or even Rafael on the doll and I know
we got to go in second, But is it because
those are solo sports, because we don't get fatigue on
that and it's only four events a year that matter,
so you don't you're not hit with it all the time.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
No one's watching PGA Tour and tennis other than the majors, really,
so I think that like, didn't a doll win on
the clay, Look, he did, but he never Just don't
think anybody's watching the French Open that way, you know,
the way the team sports are. Ross Tucker going to

of my front page story dot com as well. We
will have a little more detail on that, but of
course one of the foremost experts when it comes to
(28:38):
football analysis, Ross, As you were taking in the games
yesterday and especially let's start with the second game, did
you find yourself just from a human perspective which kind
of pulled on you more the just disappointment of Buffalo
and Josh and all of it, or the excellence of
Kansas City and Andy and Patrick and all of that.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Yeah, definitely the disappointment for Buffalo and all that. By
the way, love the music coming back from break Let's Go,
because NFL Prime Time is my all time favorite show
in the entire existence of my life. That's my favorite
show ever. So I love that music coming back. Shout
out to your producer, and uh definitely was feeling sadder
(29:27):
for the Bills you know, I played for five teams,
including a glorious month with the Browns and Berea. You
O sick, but they were my favorite team I played for.
And there's a lot of similarities between Buffalo and Cleveland,
and I love those people, and I really, I really
(29:51):
thought it was time. I really thought they were gonna
get over the hump and they were gonna they were
gonna do it this year, and they just weren't able to.
And I know a lot of people are talking about
the officiating. I'd like to think talking to a Cleveland audience,
that they would realize, you know, I just I was
(30:13):
just raised different, I guess than a lot of people.
You know, all my dad ever talked about was personal responsibility. Yeah,
taking accountability. I mean, if you're the Bills about not
letting Mahomes go up and down the field and score
over thirty points for the first time all season or
even late in the game, you know they throw the
(30:35):
ball in the flat to the running back or Mahomes
runs it. These guys are wide open, dude, Mahomes running
it wide open. Pol Bishop, their safety has the ball
in his hands and he lets Xavier Worthy like this
little dude rip it out of his hands, Balt and
k drops the pass. You know, they have the play
(30:56):
where Samuel's wide open on the crosser and Josh misses him.
Probably would have been forty yards. You guys know how
Curtis Samuel, the former Ohio say, fuck guy, what he's
like with the ball in his hands? Electric? You know,
you get stuffed on the quarterback sneak multiple times, which
a shouldn't happen, But then me, you do it again.
(31:18):
How about quarterback power with your two hundred and fifty
two pounds sledge hammer quarterback with a seven yard head
of steam. I'm just like, they got out coached, they
got out played, and so ultimately they deserve to lose.
And I just think, you know, blaming other people or
making excuses is one of the problems with our society
(31:42):
these days. For the most part, in sports, you get
what you deserve. I thought the Brown I thought, I
thought the Bills deserve to lose the game. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
Yeah, And you know what's interesting about you brought up
the sneaks that they ran over and over again. I felt
like from the way that Nance and Romo were describing it,
and you've been in these production meetings ross that the
Chiefs knew if they sneak, they're going left, and they
continually try to do it, and the Chiefs had the
answer for it every time. It seemed like that was
something that was a known tendency by the Chiefs. And
(32:16):
if that it's that known and they're talking about a
production meetings and then they go out and execute it,
that you're right to me, that is coaching. They were
better prepared in those moments than the Bills were and
that can lead to the difference in an outcome.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Right now, I will say this, the Eagles go left
every time as well, and still nobody stops it special
because they have Jordan Mylotta and Landon Dickerson. My Lotta
is sixty eight three seventy and former Australian rugby player,
(32:50):
so he had the technique down path, and then land
In is six six and a half three sixty. I mean,
those guys are just like movers of men. It's like,
I mean, I've played for five teams, I've been around
some big dudes, holy craft. I mean, the Eagles have
three absolute monsters. And then Lane Johnson, the right tackle
(33:13):
is gonna be a Hall of Famer yep. And then
the center Jurgon is a different type of freak show.
So anyway, that's another story. But yet I did not
love anything about it, to be honest to you.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Well, you said it's another story.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
That was The other game was the Eagles seven rushing touchdowns.
They would score fifty five points in this one. They
would take the football away four times. And you talk
about getting what you deserve, you cannot go on the
road in the NFC Championship game and give the football
away the way in which the Commanders did. The Eagles
made them pay. And then it ties into that line
you were talking about. They had injuries, they didn't start
(33:50):
the game with Cam Jurgens. He ends up playing in
the second half. You don't have Landon Dickerson in that
second half. What did you think, and I know it's
a team near and dear to your heart, what did
you think of what the Eagles were able to do
and just the dominance that they showed in this game?
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Well? Yeah, I mean I talked to several personnel people
before the game, and depending on who you talk to,
anywhere between three to five Washington Commanders would start for
the Eagles. So you know, Jonathan Allen would start at
de tackle, probably next to Dalen Carter. I think Frankie
(34:25):
Louvu would start at linebacker next to the all pro
Zach Bond. Obviously, I think Jane Daniels would start at quarterback.
But I think that's kind of the problem, right, I mean,
Jalen Hurts played really well. You know, even the other guys,
Terry McLaurin, you're probably splitting hairs with him and aj
Brown and DeVante Smith. Same with the corners Lattimore or
(34:50):
Mike you Sanders. Still that that has an uphill battle,
and so then you're gonna allow Jeland Hurts to play
the best he has in two months and going to
turn the ball over four times, and that's how you
lose by thirty points. You know, like you cannot do
that if you're the Commanders and have any realistic.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Chance ross this. As we were long ways out two
weeks out before this Super Bowl, but just in terms
of the way we've seen so much of these two teams,
the excellence of Kansas City's unbelievable seven straight AFC championship games,
going obviously for a third straight Super Bowl this this
quarterback tracking down Brady and all of a sudden trying
to do something Brady didn't do that. I mean, you
(35:30):
know how many people would have had that on the
other side. With Philly, it's probably as good a roster
building over the last I don't know ten fifteen years
that we've seen they've they've consistently been in the mix.
They initially this was with Wentz and then they pivot
and they land hurt. So then they build around him,
pick up Barkley. Like two just incredibly competent organizations headed
for the Super Bowl. I know people are fatigued with them,
(35:52):
but at the same time, there's a reason you keep
seeing them well.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
And what's so interesting about it is, you know, these guys,
a lot of them were together, you know, if you
think about you know, in Philly, I remember being a
training camp and Brett Deasch, the Chiefs GM, was Andy
Reid's you know, basically personal assistant. I don't know what
(36:15):
his title was, but he was always around Andy Reid
and Howie Roseman was the GM and they all worked together.
So they have a lot of the same philosophies. You know,
I think that the I think that the Chiefs out
coach a lot of people, and I think that. Obviously,
(36:37):
Mahomes is fantastic and they have talent, but man, I've
really thought they out coached the Bills yesterday in a
bunch of ways, and then the Eagles. This is at
least the second time in the last three years that
they pretty clearly have the best roster. I mean, think
about this for a second. They have the best old line,
(36:58):
they have the best running back. They might not have
the best receiving duo, but their top five with a
j Brown Devonte Smith gotther to the top five tight end.
Parts hasn't really even played like a top ten quarterback
this year, but he did yesterday. They had the number
one defense since the buy Mitch just They're loaded. They
(37:21):
just are again and it's unbelievable. Think about like they're
just additions this offseason. First Team All Pro linebacker Zach Baugh,
two of the five finalists for Defensive Rookie of the Year,
Cooper dejen and Quinyon Mitchell. Saquon I think, yeah, he's
one of the five finalists MVP. I mean, it's those
(37:43):
are four guys they all brought in this offseason, which
I would say if I'm a Browns fan to bring
it back to you guys. Highly encouraging because all the
time Andrew Berry spent in Philly with Howie Roseman, and
so you know, for in them to bring in four
guys like that in one off season that are all
up for awards, you know, that just goes to show
(38:04):
you you can do some tweaking and make some major,
major news.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
You can just real quickly. The Zach Bond story, to me,
is one of the more remarkable in the league. It
feels like when you look at kind of what he was,
what he had done in his career. He had one
hundred and fifty one tackles this season. The four previous
years he had a grand total of eighty eight tackles.
(38:30):
This was a guy who never was a full time
defensive player or starter and now is and had this
was that one of the more just incredible taking advantage
of your opportunity. It was with Dennis Allen in New Orleans.
You think they would have figured out how to get
something out of them, But to have this type of
a performance in this season, forces the fumble in the
game yesterday is really remarkable.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
It absolutely is. I mean, that's the thing that I
think about so often is like, I'll give you this,
I'll give you the Zach Baum story. He was an
on the ball sam backer for the Saints, who you know,
(39:14):
because of some motions or shifts, he had to shift
off the ball to be an off the ball backer
for like twenty five to forty five snaps New Orleans.
Last year, the Eagles, I think thought he'd be an
edge rusher and special teamer, but Vic Fiangio watched him
and thought he could do it, and he he's the
first team All Pro linebacker. I mean, it's just just unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
It certainly is a great story. Speaking of stories, my
front page story MN here Ross founder and CEO, this
looks awesome. Can tell us a little bit about it
and how the folks can take advantage.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Yeah, it is awesome. And Actum co founder because it's
a buddy of mine that who's a writer for a
local newspaper. It was his idea and it's a genius
idea because none of us know what together our significant
other for Valentine's Day. You know, it's usually just flowers
or take them out to dinner. And not to get
too mushy or sentimental with you, I'm a huge believer
(40:15):
in life, in telling people how you feel about them.
Life is short, you know, we lose people. It's so
important to make sure your loving ones, your significant other
knows just how special they are. To be able to
talk to a writer for ten minutes while you're driving
home from work, tell them how great your wife is
(40:35):
or whatever. You can tell an email if you want.
They write this incredible story looks like you know, on
the cover newspaper, like they cover the plain deal, or
pictures of you and her kids if you have them,
it's framed and just what she's opening it to be
able to say, I wanted something special, babes, I had
a story written about you. I mean, it's unbelievable. And
then when they actually read the quotes. I never thank
(40:57):
her enough for everything she does for me and the kids.
They cry right almost every time. It's like a next

Let's we haven't had a chance to talk about these
two games as much. We did kind of some big
overarching things and we'll also get into some around the
lead We had a lot of coaching stuff that happened
(43:02):
over the course of the last couple of days. Where
do you want to do NFC or AFC first is
a little bit of an expanded conversation in terms of
the game. Yes, I don't have preference the I want
to talk about the roster building in Philly because what
Ross talked about with us was it struck me and
(43:25):
hopefully you know the idea that this is kind of
all from this same tree, this Kansas City Philly connections.
There's so many of them. I think it's a real
marvel that these two organizations are the two because and
it tells you that can happen anywhere. When when the
Eagles had one of the longest droughts between championships in
the National Football League before they finally won a couple
(43:47):
of years ago. But they've been getting at bats at
this really for two decades. If you think of Andy
Reid and Donovan McNabb and what they had twenty some
years ago, and then they had this run they've had
now with with Sirianni and they had this this ability
to be close. They had it with Doug Peterson as well.
It was initially yeah, it was initially going to be Yeah,
of course, initially this is this is Wentz. This this
(44:09):
build was around Wentz, and then they pivoted quickly. Anybody
in the league had had Jalen Hurts. I just picked
the second round. He's in the second round. He was there.
They liked him, they liked his talent, they nurtured his talent,
they put in a system that fit his talent. There's
an open mindedness with them that I think is really enviable.
(44:30):
How they put players in position to succeed, and they
have become really one of the This has been this
way for a while. It's Philip. People have always wanted
to play in Philly, but even more so now like
they get guys wanting to go there, and they just
do everything right. It's just I think, to do it
with a bunch of different quarterbacks and to constantly be
in the mix. It's a really tough thing to do,
(44:51):
but it's how you build a roster with incredible depth
of talent. They've done it, and they've.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
I mean Quinnion Mitchell their first round pick, hit, Cooper
de john hit like all the guy Their draft picks
are Jalen Carter as a monster the kid they got
from Georgia has had a great.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Run the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (45:06):
Nolan Smith, I want to say that Rusher he was
a first round Yes, they're all. They've got some real dudes.
And one of the things that was interesting is you
kind of look at at this season. Kellen Moore comes
in right and he's the new OC. Their first four
games this year, they go two and two. Here's Jalen
(45:29):
Hurts pass attempts thirty four to thirty, thirty eight to thirty, okay,
including the NFC Championship game. So he threw thirty or
more passes in four straight games to open the season,
including the championship game.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
So that's a lot of games.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
Now, yeah, he's thrown thirty or more passes in just
one game after those first four. So they had four,
they had the bye week, and they come out against
US and what they decided was we are going to
be a run team. And now that caused some dissension.
Jalen Hurts does not have a three hundred yard passing
game this season. Jalen Hurts since week since the game
(46:09):
against US, he threw for two sixty four one two three,
four five six seven eight nine ten eleven, twelve, thirteen
games since then, he's thrown for two hundred and fifty
yards once once they've become a running team. In fact,
he's been under two undred yards passing in one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven of those thirteen below two hundred yards passing.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
They became a running team.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
Those was one the things they talked about in the
broadcast I thought was actually good and insightful and what
was I thought a pretty lackluster broadcast, But they talked
about how Kellen Moore and that's he's built on the pass,
came in and said, you know, we're gonna run the ball,
and we're gonna lean on Saquon Barkley, we're gonna get
Jalen Hurts obviously involved as a runner, which they were
doing early in the season anyway, but continued to do
(46:54):
so more so as the season went on. You know,
you think about it from a short yard standpoint, the
guy's got in his last one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven games, he's got seven rushing touchdowns, including three in
this one. So I think they just did a good
job of kind of shifting into their thing. Now caused
some tension for a while with AJ Brown, sure, because
(47:15):
he and DeVante Smith both had their numbers go way
down this year. But they have overcome injuries early in
the season.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
A J.
Speaker 5 (47:22):
Brown middle of the season got art got hurt against
US and missed a good chunk of the season and
they kept rolling. But they've built an incredible roster. They
are very talmpted and they know exactly who they are.
And I thought while all the replay show, there was
definitely a hole that should have been called and they
got away with it. That game was actually still in
the balance. I believe it was thirty thirty.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
Let's see if I get in the game. Can they
scored the They scored twenty one in the fourth it
was two. I think it was thirty four to.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
Twenty three to thirty four, and you're like, okay, it's eleven,
but like it feels like it could be a game.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Sure, and then they go twenty one. An answered.
Speaker 5 (48:00):
But the biggest play was on that first drive of
the fourth quarter. I think it was a They faced
third and ten and that's where Hurts through an absolute
dime to AJ Brown one on one. They go score,
and then that was pretty much it. Had they gotten
stopped there, you never know, maybe things change, but he
did what he had to do when he had to
(48:22):
do it. Two hundred and forty six yards for him.
By the way, that's the second most that he's thrown
for in the last thirteen games.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Okay, where's it? Where's he going today? What is this today?
Speaker 4 (48:33):
Look at this?
Speaker 2 (48:33):
Look at this. That's like a casual power. Oh, it's
like the jacket's unbelievable. Dijeronimo in the house. Oh man, wow,
my gosh, looks formidable. I mean, he looks like he's
going to a Hollywood premiere. He does he does it
looks like he could all sudden start snapping. Oh, he
could do that too, he could do that too. Yeah. Wow,
(48:56):
wasn't ready for that.
Speaker 5 (48:57):
No, but that was Saquon rips it off sixty yards
on the opening play tone setter The Commanders. You just
can't fumble like that. Yeah, oh you know what that is?
That's a Grayson. That's a Grayson where it's kind of
like the vest but with sleeves like my.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
My l A C C one.
Speaker 5 (49:16):
Oh, I see, that's an h the HSG Grayson kind
of one of those numbers.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
That's a nice that's a nice product there Is that
a logo on the front. Yes, I think it's got
the HSG logo on the front. Okay, yeah, that's.
Speaker 5 (49:31):
Stout Stout formidable. Yeah yeah, what got the air maxos
of the the nineties the nineties?
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Is he gonna come in here, come on in here,
come on in here, take the what a guy on
the other side? Uh, you can't turn the ball over
like that can't. And here's the thing for Jaden and
Washington is you You come further faster than you than
anybody thought.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Now there will be tape. People will adjust to this,
much as they did in Houston with CJ. Stroud and
it was a step back him statistically. This year they
accomplished the same as a team. But the key for
Washington now is going to be putting pieces around him.
And I think it's critical the Cliff sticks around and
that there's a consistency for him, Yes, and coordinators and
(50:20):
someone who sees the game like he does. It obviously
worked this year, but now they can add to it
and Washington will be a place people want to play again.
Forever the ownership didn't allow for it. They never had
consistent quarterback play. Now they've got a young superstar quarterback.
They've got an ownership group that is well known and
well funded, and they're building a new stadium. They're getting
(50:40):
rid of all of the stuff that bogged them down
for twenty plus years. This playoff run was gravy for them.
They had already had their dessert. I mean, it was
all of it. The thing is, it's not it's not
easy to get back there.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
No, that's gonna be the hard part they're gonna they're
gonna deal with. But I thought they had a chance
in this game. You got the Diami Brown fumble, they score.
I think they scored a touchdown off of all four turnovers,
if I'm not mistaken. I think twenty eight points off
of turnovers.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
The backbreaker was at the end of the first half.
You're down.
Speaker 5 (51:15):
I think it was twenty one or twenty to fifteen,
something like that.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Let's see, I can get figure it out.
Speaker 5 (51:21):
You are down, and the first half they score. McLaurin scores,
it's fourteen twelve, they go for two. They don't get it.
Hurts scores it's twenty to twelve. You're getting the ball
back on the kickoff, and you fumble that kickoff and
then they score and make it twenty seven to twelve.
They did a great job to get a field goal,
(51:43):
but then of course you knew that Philly is getting
the ball. That two catastrophic. You can't have score fumble
the kickoff right back.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
To them, score fourteen points. Boom boom boom.
Speaker 5 (51:53):
I think they went for two on one of them,
so it end up being six and seven, so thirteen.
But that was just a brutal sequence and you're not
going to win that way. Now, in the middle of
all this, I do have to say, and I'm hyperbolee,
I'm gonna throw it out here and see if there's
any pushback. I watched the play like three times. I
think Tresway may have thrown the best pass up Hunters
ever thrown. It was feathered on a.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Seam that's pretty good over a defender and in front
of another one. Yeah, I mean that was that was
not an It wasn't just like, oh, they're not covering
the gunners and they just run and you throw it
out to him, or oh the gunner runs this way
and he runs an out and they just weren't expected
that guy's running a seam with an underneath defender that
he had to feather that ball over Thanksgiving twenty sixteen.
(52:39):
Pat McAfee, Macca better than that. It's a good one,
all right, that's a good one. The g Man's back,
by the way, I thank goodness, the g man is bad.
He's back and better than ever. By the way, you're
listening to eight point fifty ESPN Cleveland, w kN are
a good Karma brand stage every here. How do you
do it? How do you go from there to there?
Speaker 5 (52:56):
He's got the air Max, he's got the I mean
the jacket, look at the jazz's I dream a genie.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
He just goes where good. It's good.
Speaker 5 (53:02):
He looks, he looks at He's like like Rocky, looks
like Rocky Balboa.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Jesus, he did. He was over there and then he
ended up this way. Started there, he just popped out.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
I think he wanted more, to be honest, I think
you wanted more adulation and he got it.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
He deserved it. Worthy worthy AFC. We spent a great
deal of time talking about a lot of it. You
want to get into the hatred of the chiefs. I
know there will be a lot of time to discuss.
Did you did, were the people you were with? Were
you just with you and miss k or who was
watching with you?
Speaker 5 (53:33):
Uh yeah, me and miss k which my mom my
mom actually even watched the first half. Nana Nana was
in the and every now and then I'd even get
l boots and poke his head up like big play,
Hare boots.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
Big one.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
He's like, how about Pedrod? He weigh in? Is he
full of cont So? I mean, yeah, he sends me
all the like penalties aren't called on them.
Speaker 5 (53:57):
Like the absurd ones where it's like my Homes kissing
the ref and all the like, you know, all the nonsense.
So yes, But at the same time, he said that
Mahomes reminds him the most of Steph Curry, who he loves,
so he's like, all right, well, at least it was
like NFL Steph. So he can't lose. No, he can't
lose in that situation. Look, I don't think the officials
(54:25):
didn't cheat for them. I didn't think no at all. No,
in fact, on that fourth down play. So that's the
one that everybody's going to Yeah, oh, I said, whatever
they called it, it's gonna be. And people are making
a big deal because the referee at the top started
kind of over the line and then ended up inside
the line. The referee on the bottom was always inside
(54:46):
the line.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
Folks.
Speaker 5 (54:48):
I don't know if you know this, but they don't
have the yellow lines on the field in real life.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
No, And I also don't know.
Speaker 5 (54:57):
I also don't know if people understand how wide an
NFL fe is it? Sixty six yards, sixty five yards
something like that? Yeah, the idea, g man, how wide
is the NFL field?
Speaker 2 (55:08):
On second? One second? It's easily google.
Speaker 5 (55:10):
My point is they're running thirty yards in yep, maybe
twenty five yards in, so we're talking seventy five one
hundred and sixty feet fifty three point three yards fifty okay,
so you're running twenty seven, twenty six and zero point
seventy five to get to that. That's to the middle.
So you're running twenty yards, whether it's sixty feet whatever.
(55:35):
Who You don't run that in a dead straight line.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
No.
Speaker 5 (55:38):
So, even if they wanted to, and they're focused on,
they're focused on where they want to end up, and
that's where they're running to, which is it's not an
easy thing to do.
Speaker 4 (55:46):
Now.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
I do believe.
Speaker 5 (55:51):
In tennis, where the balls move in one hundred miles
an hour. They have the ability to know if it
caught the very smallest piece that computer thing, and it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
If it touched the they know stopped immediately in out,
they see it right away.
Speaker 5 (56:07):
We should be able to know if the ball or
any portion of it crosses that line, of course, So
let's let's do that. Let's get that right. That play
was always going to be whatever they called. There's no
way you could overturn it. And the thing is, when
Alan was at his closest to the point, and maybe
it did get over, it was close with his back
with the ball on this side of it.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
So it's impossible. We have the technology to know exactly
where the ball is on the field at all time.
We have the technology to know exactly what ten yards
is every time. We have the technology not to have
two human beings running with chain between two sticks trying
to get it accurate. This is all available the sky. Judge,
(56:49):
you and I have been talking about for years. I
don't understand, Well, it's going to there, going to this.
I mean, this is so simple to get these penalties right,
Get it right, get it right now.
Speaker 5 (57:00):
On the again, back to that fourth down. Now, I
think maybe one of the differences, and I could be wrong,
but this could be UH an issue with it, or
maybe the solution is because with a tennis ball, other
than when it's compressed on the racket for that second,
it's basically one shape. So like I don't know what,
I don't know where the chip is. My guess is
(57:21):
it could be in the middle. Then it knows the
radius to get to any point on the ball. The
difference with a people that go to t that do
they can figure it out. But it's oblong. So if
the the ball's position matters in terms of where it
is right, So like if you're going we have a
I think we have football right there, Yeah, pass the
(57:43):
chief ball, pass.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Out and pass that ball. Guy all over it.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
So if this is my paper, is a first down,
that's a first down. But if the ball is like this,
not a first down with the same GPS. So they
got to figure out how to know it's the angle
it's So maybe you need to have a chip in
each but also on each end of here.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
And if any I'd have one boom middle and I'd
have two on the end.
Speaker 5 (58:06):
So you'd have to have here in the middle and
in the ear and here so you might need six
different points.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
It's fine, well two because it could be like this
as well. We have the technology.
Speaker 5 (58:15):
I think we have the technology for it. I think
that it's important to get these things one hundred percent right. Yeah,
it's yeah, get it right, get it right. I thought, overall,
good job. I thought that in the critical moments of
that game, the Chiefs executed not only defensively with that
blitz and the disguise of it, they out executed the Bills,
(58:37):
and they out executed them on you know, a cup
clutch forth down, and they out executed them on the sneaks,
and they out executed them when they needed to get
those first downs ice the game.
Speaker 2 (58:47):
They did it. They were so cool, man, those plays
they called when they're ice in the game, and you
just it's so right. Had not touched the ball, no,
and they snuck him out. Yeah no, it was all
of it. By the way, I would not have had
a year ago. Kareem getting seventeen carries for sixty four
yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship game. It's
shoving circle. I remember he missed the Super Bowl with them,
(59:08):
and now he's going to get the chance. So I'm
really happy for him. And by the way, my wife
was like, wait, that's Korea. I'm like, yeah, yes, Crey,
but sure enough.
Speaker 5 (59:17):
And it took a devastating injury to put checko. He
doesn't join them until the end of September. Yep, he
was nowhere in the league. It's amazing that on the season,
and one of the things we talked about, Look, he
doesn't break off chunk runs.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
He just doesn't. No.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
His longest run on the season was twenty yards. He
had one twenty yard rush, which came again the game
against Houston in the regular season finale.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
It's but he gets you a few tough yards, that's
what he does. If they need three, he gets four.
Speaker 4 (59:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
See if they're within two of the end zone, he's
going in the end zone like it's just fourth than one.
He's getting it.
Speaker 5 (59:57):
Three point six yards of carry this year too, under
carry seven hundred and twenty eight yards. He had three
yards to carry with us three point eight three or four.
I saw something that actually ticked me off that I
just want to dress real quickly. I don't remember who
said it. I don't remember who said it, but somebody
said that we never ever used Kareem Hunt properly.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Jeez, and I'm like, wait a second.
Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
Look.
Speaker 5 (01:00:16):
Go back to the year twenty twenty when Kareem ran
for at He ran for eight hundred and forty one yards,
six touchdowns, averaged four point two carry, also had thirty
eight catches three hundred four yards and another five touchdowns.
The guy produced eleven hundred and forty five yards and
eleven touchdowns. We use them properly. And then if you
go back to twenty twenty one, he was on pace
to do the exact same thing, and in fact, his
(01:00:37):
injury in the middle of the season was devastating to
the Browns at that time. And on that one in
half of the season, he was on pace for another
eleven hundred total yards and ten or more touchdowns. So
he absolutely was used properly here in Cleveland. It just
there has been a deterioration of his of his skill set,
(01:00:58):
and you saw lash even in the city has an
unbelievable line and they have the threat of Mahomes. At
the end of the day, any defense is going to say, Okay,
we would rather have Kareem Hunt running this football. We'd
rather have Isaiah pachecoos on a knocking on cream on
anybody running it than having Mahomes do what he does.
But he it's awesome and if you're a Kareem Hunt fan,
you should be thrilled for him. I'm thrilled because unfortunately
(01:01:22):
he wouldn't have made that big of a difference in
this season, but here he gets to go win a
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Mate, go ahead, Awesome. I love Kareem Hunt.
Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
When he got in the end zone the first one
did the push ups, it was just like twenty twenty
when he does that against the against the Steelers in
that game.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
It was great. It'll be February ninth, it'll be in
New Orleans and is Super Bowl fifty nine is the
Chiefs and the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Coming up next, we will do a little positional review
in the wide receiver room and where we can address
some help here if anywhere, we'll get to that. Coming
up next to listen to Clear the Browns Daily on
eight fifty ESPN Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Cleveland Browns Daily presented by bally Vett, an official sports
betting partner of your Cleveland Browns on eight fifty esp
and Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
And back for another season from your four legged companion
his Year three of Barking Backers presented by Milkbone the
fan club for dogs view membership options joined today at
Barkingbackers dot com. Time for another preview. I'm sorry positioned review.
We are in the wide receiver room where we had
ourselves a breakout this season. For the specifics, we turn
(01:02:38):
to Doc to zee.
Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
In a year that was a Commander Heatherly special. There
was actually some joy in the wide receiver room. And
you mentioned it, the breakout of Jerry Judy. So the
Browns trade for Jerry Judy never has a thousand yard season,
and he has a historically good season in Cleveland Brown's history.
I believe fifth most yards overall in a single season,
twelve hundred and twenty nine sets the Browns record for
(01:03:03):
the most receptions in a single season with ninety. That's
a new franchise record. So he did something you know,
that had never been done before. Ninety receptions twelve hundred
and twenty nine yards both career highs from four touchdowns
averaged thirteen point seven yards a catch, made his first
Pro Bowl as well. He was the bright spot. Now,
(01:03:24):
there were some other players in the wide receiver room
that were good but it was a season that's going
to ultimately be, you know, kind of racked by injury
and then what I would call substandard play. And it
started with Amari Cooper, who was going in the year
to be the one Judy was going to be the
number two or the one A. Amari Cooper caught twenty
four of his fifty three targets with the Cleveland Browns
(01:03:46):
in six games, for two hundred and fifty yards, ten
point four a catch, two touchdowns, and led the league
in drops.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Yep, led the league in drops.
Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
Now that trade, now that we know that the Bills
are out, that trade has now netted the Browns number
ninety four. I want to say, pick number ninety four
overall in the third round. So that's what you get
for Amari Cooper. But he was supposed to be your
one and a year where he had and I'm pretty
sure this is kind of amazing. I'mretty sure last year
he had exactly twelve hundred and fifty yards.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Do I have that right, I'll pull it up.
Speaker 5 (01:04:18):
I do, yes, twelve hundred and fifty yards he had
for the Browns. In twenty twenty three, he has one
thousand fewer yards the following season in twenty three average
seventeen point four yards of catch, his success rate was
fifty three percent. His catch rate was almost sixty percent.
This year's success rate drop, his yards per catch drops
(01:04:40):
a ten point four success rate thirty five point eight,
his yards per game down to forty one from eighty three,
cut in half exactly, and his catch rate dropped to
forty five percent, the lowest of his career. That was
a low success rate of his career and catch rate
of his entire career. So I don't know what happened.
Not a factor in Buffalo at all. I mean, Amari
Cooper in his eight.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Games in Buffalo, He's it's twenty for two ninety seven
in eight games, right, and it just wasn't there. I mean,
it's it's only two touchdowns. He had four targets and
four catches on the touchdowns in the championship game yesterday,
but just was not a part of their offensive plan.
Speaker 5 (01:05:18):
In the playoffs, he had in three games, eight targets,
six catches, forty one yards, no touchdowns, six catches for
forty one yards in the play in three games in
the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
I don't know what happened. I don't get it.
Speaker 5 (01:05:32):
Great dude, committed to the craft, though he made some
comments that made it sound like he hadn't necessarily maintain
some of the things he had done in the past.
But he was one of the great route runners, great hands,
big plays, and set the Browns franchise record for most
receiving yards in a single game on Christmas Eve last
year down in Houston. Just it was stunning. Elijah Moore
was your number three. He ended up the season third
(01:05:54):
on the team with sixty one catches. He ended up
second on the team five hundred and thirty eight yards,
only one touchdown though career eight point eight yards per
catch for Elijah, so it's been interesting last two seasons.
Career highs and catches, but eight point eight yards of catch,
that is, is yards per catch have gone down every
year in his current part of it's how he's used.
(01:06:14):
Twelve point five is rookie season and with the Jets.
Twelve point one is second season. Ten point eight his
first year at the Browns. Eight point eight he's a
free agent at the end of the year. I still
like Elijah, but it hasn't unlocked. I don't think in
the way that many thought it would you know when
he was coming out of Ole Miss and so highly regards,
so productive at Old Miss. Now I mentioned Amari, And
(01:06:36):
then now we get into the injury portion of the
program and Cedric Tillman Cedi tilt misses the final six
games of the year with a concussion. He had a
three game stretch where you're like, maybe we've got something here.
Cincinnati eight for eighty one, Baltimore seven for ninety nine
and two scores, including the game winner, Chargers six for
seventy five in a touchdown, New Orleans three for forty seven.
(01:06:56):
And then he gets hurt early in that Pittsburgh game.
We don't see him again. And so Edward Tilman's got
the size, he's got all those things, catches his first
three NFL touchdowns, But then you just don't get to
see it enough, and you wonder, what do we have
in him? You like the size, you like the speed showed,
the ability to get vertical showed, the ability to make plays.
Obviously did well when when Jamis was in there with him.
(01:07:19):
But you know, now he's coming back from this concussion.
Fortunately he's not come back from a leg injury. He
doesn't have to you know, relearn how to run or
any of those things. But you know, what do you
have there? Because right now, the one receiver and he's
under contract, he'll go in his third season that you
can count on is is Judy, Elijah Moore, free agent
Tilman is back but coming off an injury. We traded
(01:07:41):
Amari Cooper. You know, Michael Woods is the next most
productive receiver on your team with seven catches for sixty
five yards on seventeen targets. Then you get down to
David Bell, who got injured in the first game. He
had three catches for twenty seven yards. Jamari Thrash had
three for twenty two year draft pick this year. You know,
(01:08:01):
there just isn't. Yeah, Darden had one catch for six yards.
James proshe had three for twenty one. There wasn't. There's
not a lot there. So when you talk about a
room that needs some help, it's the receiver room. Now
we've traded for a receiver. I believe in three straight
off seasons, Amari, Elijah and Judy. I think you can
(01:08:22):
bring Elijah mooreback relatively inexpensively, yep.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
But I think you need to add another big time
talent to that. You need a primo weapon to be
added to this room. There has to be somebody else
added to this room that is feared, no matter who
the quarterback is. Yeah, it can't just be Jerry Judy.
It can't be. And the Tillman thing was so wild
in terms of how long he was down and I
(01:08:47):
mean he's going into his third year, I think, regardless,
and hopefully that he comes back and he's full and
everything that we saw the flashes of before the injury.
Maybe that's who he is, let's hope. But at the
same time, major influx of talent needs to happen in
this room. There's got to be somebody else that is
feared in this room.
Speaker 5 (01:09:03):
Now here's the good news is that you have a
great deal of of of assets and or picks in
this draft to kind of turn things around. And this
is courtesy of our of our good friend Andrew Siciliano.
With that we got now the ninety fourth pick in
the draft, and we have got I believe I thought
(01:09:28):
I'd like that. Maybe I retweeted it. Hold police one
one sec. There we go profile posts.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
It is yep.
Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
The Browns are projected to have twelve picks in this draft,
including five in the top one oh two, five in
the top one oh two, So that could be that's
you're hoping those are those are impact players. Here's the problem.
We're talking about the receiver room. Definitely need additions there significantly.
So you need a quarterback. You maybe need two quarterbacks
(01:10:03):
in this draft, plus a free agent you maybe need
you need, you might need a whole.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
New quarterback room.
Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
Yeah, give dtr obviously the ability to compete. You need
another premier wide receiver. I think it's pretty safe say
you need an offensive tackle, yep. Whether it's you've got
Dwan coming back off of injury, he is unfortunate up
in ill finish. She's I believe he's going to be
a stud left tackle. But you also have Jack Hung.
You don't have a third tackle right now on the roster.
(01:10:28):
We did that position. I think while I was gone,
we played the tackle one. They're all leaving, they're all
free agents. We need a running back, there's a loaded
draft for that. We probably need another tight end. David
a Jok who's getting a little older. Akens is older.
We don't have a young like we're if we're going
back to what we were doing, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Two tight ends.
Speaker 5 (01:10:48):
Three tight ends. You need a tight end. So that's
five clear positions that need on the offense. And that
doesn't even touch the fact we probably need another defensive tackle,
probably need a linebacker. We don't know what's going Joek.
You can never have too many corners. Are we ready
to turn everything over to Ronnie Hickman at free safety?
You're losing you know, McLoud there, it's the last year
of Thornhills deal. The guaranteed money is up there, so
(01:11:08):
you don't know what's gonna happen, how that's going to
look as we have to probably be judicious with our
with our spend. So you've got a lot of needs.
It's a good thing you have twelve picks. You've got
a lot of needs on those football team.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
But they've got it. They're gonna be dudes. They're gonna
be some dudes who plug and play.
Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Well.
Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
You need a dude at quarterback, you need a dude
at receiver, you need a dude at running back, and
I think you need a dude at tackle. Now, could
Nick Chubb? Could you be fine with Nick Chubb and
and Ford for a season? I think absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
Let me just say that, so you could push that down,
but this draft is so loaded with running back talent
that it probably makes sense to invest in that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
You need weapons. You need weapons. You need two big weapons.
You either need you and well you need really three.
You need quarterback quarterback without question, and then you need
another weapon on the perimeter. And you I think you
need a weapon in the backfield.
Speaker 5 (01:11:54):
And it could be that you sign a free agent
receiver that you like and you go into it with
that free agent Judy as your one, bring back Elijah
on a relatively inexpensive deal, you get Tilman back, You
bring in one more receiver that you really think rounds
out that room. And maybe that weapon is a tight end.
Maybe it's a pass catching tight end to go with,
you know, Jordan Akins. I just don't know how long
(01:12:15):
he'll be. Jeranaicos was fourth on your team with forty
catches and three und ninety yards believe it or not,
this season, so he can do it. But yeah, you need, unfortunately,
a lot of a lot of things. And this is
a receiver room that doesn't look as good going into
the season, certainly as you felt like it was going
into last season. And so I do think there need
to be some additions there. I think a lot of
(01:12:38):
people believe, you know now that we're kind of seeing it,
that Travis Hunter is the number one receiver in this draft.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
So interesting. I'm glad you brought that up because I
saw Kuiper identify him as a receiver who would play
some corner.
Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
How did Jeremiah I know, we'll get to his mock
draft tomorrow. He was the same. He said he views
him as an offensive player that will full time offensive
planer defense.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
I think is what Moonlight's on defense. Full time offensive player.
You got McMillon from Arizona. But that's early. But to me, again,
we'll get we'll get through this. Like this spoiler the
Jeremiah draft, I'd be like, what in the world.
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Is going on? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Yeah, I think I'm surprised with that. I mean those
two no, yeah, but I'm surprised that they've identified Hunter
as receiver who plays corner. To me, I would think
it would have been the opposite that he was a
corner who plays ten plays at receiver. I just don't
see a scenario where you run the full receiver all
(01:13:36):
the responsibilities of a full time receiver number one, you know,
to go high in the draft, and then you can
also run out and play like six plays a game
in nickel or whatever. I just I don't know. That's
I've never we've never seen we've never seen anything like it. No,
that's that's true. Can do it, though maybe I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
I will say one thing that is very clear to
me is you need you need to score the foot
you need. That's what this league is about. Just I'm
going to run through some things. And you know what.
Fourteen teams make the playoffs, right, That's it. It's the
number buddy, Okay. Detroit was number one. They were the
(01:14:15):
number one seed, number one scoring offense, number one seed.
Buffalo was second, Baltimore was third, Tampa was fourth, Washington
was fifth, Philly was sixth. All of them playoff teams.
The only team seventh was Cincinnati in terms of scoring.
Not a playoff team, but nobody wanted their smoke at all.
Green Bay eighth playoff team, Vikings ninth playoff team, Denver
(01:14:38):
tenth playoff team, Arizona eleventh, not a playoff team, Kansas
City twelfth playoff team, at La Chargers thirteenth playoff team.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
And then you get into the middle.
Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
The only playoff teams that were not really good scoring
teams the Texans who got bounced in the second round,
the Rams who got bounced in the second round, the
Steelers who got bounced in the first round.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
That's it. The bottom here are the were scoring teams.
Speaker 5 (01:15:01):
You can guess where they're picking the draft Browns, Giants, Patriots,
Vegas Tennessee, Jacksonville Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
This is this league is all about it. It's too
hard not.
Speaker 5 (01:15:14):
Saying that you don't need to have a good defense.
Now the Eagles are using a combination of by the way,
they were the six scoring offense andise. Oh so they
have that and their defense. It's too hard to play
consistent defense with the rules against you. With the talent on,
you have to be able to score. Every team that's
still so we've got Philly who's six. The Chiefs are twelve,
still in the top twelve in the league. And the
(01:15:35):
Chiefs have actually kind of turned their offense on as
we've gotten going. You need to be able to score
to have a shot to win a Super Bowl, period, Yes,
and until you do, that's why to me, I wouldn't
even I wouldn't mind weapon weapon weapon. If we have
five top one hundred and two picks. I wouldn't mind
if all five were on the offense.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Yep, weapon, weapon weapon. I'm with you. Schwartz is a genius.
You got miles find a way to get enough stops
when you need to, right, Yeah, oh yeah, you got
some Natty and pieces K b Atzel and MJ And yeah,
I'm with you. That's that is absolutely that's the league.
Speaking of the league, we'll go around the league. Coming
up next to list to Cleveland Browns Daily on eight

Official Got toguard to your Cleveland Browns. How about on
a Friday, Jarah while hires Brian Schottenheimer on a Friday,
Doesn't that tell you everything you need to know. Of
(01:17:09):
course it does. Of course it does. And then the
biggest gamble or he doesn't want to pay coaches. I mean,
I don't understand how any of Marty's kids, So I
mean it's you know, we love Marty, but like, holy
smokes man, this guy's fifty one, never been ahead, never
(01:17:29):
been a head coach, and not really even considered to
be at the peak of his No, that would have
been like the late two thousands when he's with the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
Yets.
Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Yeah, imagine looking around that division, and I mean, the
Giants aren't really going anywhere, but you got Jayden and
Daniels and you get two NFC East teams playing for
the NFC Championship yesterday, and you're remember we said how
weird they were like they didn't spend this year, Like yes,
I mean yes, like so weird, and then they lose
(01:17:59):
the year. They ridiculously then sign Prescott to the extension,
record breaking extension. They fire McCarthy, although they acted like
they were going to keep him. Now they're bringing in
Brian Shott and I were to run it, and it's
like and is eber flu is going to be the DC?
As they saw he flew down there. Yeah, that one
was wild. That's that. That is the if you were
to give me a million guesses, I just assumed Belichick
(01:18:21):
would go there. Why not Kellen Moore? Why not Kellen Moore?
Great point? Why not even they didn't even I don't
get it. No, the Raiders hiring Pete Carroll, I do
get you. And I have not talked about it. I
talked to it a little bit yesterday. I know he's
seventy two, but he doesn't act it at all. And
(01:18:41):
I understand what they're doing here. I think this makes
a lot of sense.
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
He's gonna he's in a tough spot, but yeah, he's
gonna bring some Well, how about it?
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
How about it? Don't you think he could end up
with Russell Wilson?
Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
I do think that that's that sounds pretty that's pretty likely.
Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
There was a story from mart Rooney in Pittsburgh. I
don't know if you saw this that they're gonna bring
They want to bring back either Fields or Wilson, but
not both. And whoever it is, he wants a multi
year deal on it. So I don't want Sports to
be there.
Speaker 5 (01:19:12):
I think I want Fields to be one of the
people in my reimagined quarterback room. That gives us three
real shots at it where it's the number two pick
Fields or Danny Dimes, and then maybe a Will Howard
or a Ewers in the third round. Yeah, like that's
my court, that's my Nathan Zeger reimagined quarterback room.
Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
I want to have those swings at it.
Speaker 5 (01:19:33):
I do think that there is something about Fields or
Danny Dimes that is I've seen them at their best
and I like them, and I do think they are
people you can win with. But I don't know that
they necessarily get you where you're thinking, Okay, now we're
going to go make a run at the AFC.
Speaker 4 (01:19:54):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
But the the reason I also like both of those
guys is yes, yes, I think there's a sea on both.
But because of their youth, they could be more than
a mayor. You never know, maybe who knows right, you know,
I'd rather have rest.
Speaker 5 (01:20:07):
Stay with the Steelers, by the way, the Fields and
I take Fields right here. This is from our our
buddy Ben Albright. This is actually pretty good, so he said.
This is on January twentieth. This was a pin tweet.
If he had to guess today, Patriots vable along that
was easy Jets. I think Aaron Glenn Saints again. I
(01:20:28):
think Glenn is the choice. But if he chooses New York,
McCarthy has a long relationship with Mickey Loomis. Joe Brady
would be my plan. See I guess so the Saints
have not. Have they hired they have not. Jags want
Ben Johnson, but I think their plans c for him.
My bet has been on Liam Cohen winding up here
correct Cowboys despite the initial Dion stuff, that's not a
(01:20:49):
real thing. Kellen wo would be my guest here, but
don't sleep on current o. C Brian Schottenheimer's plan b
I'd never even heard of Brian jo This is Albright.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
This is from January twentieth. Bears.
Speaker 5 (01:20:58):
They'll be fighting with the Raiders. Try to get Ben Johnson.
My gut says this is a better job. They get
Ben Johnson Raiders. Much like the Bears. Ben Johnson is
target won. They have some nice pieces and Bowers and Crosby.
That said, the rest of the Rush is much further away,
and the AFC West is murderous.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Row million quarterback to build around only six pick in
the draft.
Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Probably have to get input from the GM here blah
blah blah blah blah. Pete Carroll would be my number
two here. I think probably a better fit for what
they need right now if they're unable to land Johnson.
So he geez clairvoyant ben clairvoyan Ben So if McCarthy
or Joe Brady end up in the Saints, he basically
got every single one of them, which would be impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
Yeah, this is a shock. That's where Russell Wilson could
end up with the Raiders. Yeah, that would and then
there's that with him and Carrol. Yeah, I don't, but
I don't want fields in Pittsburgh. I don't either, But
that's that's kind of the way.
Speaker 5 (01:21:47):
Though there's a lot there were a lot of reports
that Arthur he and Arthur Smith did not get along.
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
Based on everything we've anytime we talk about fields. That
doesn't surprise me because there's obviously some stuff that he
misses that drives coordinator's nuts. Bob sala is back as
a defensive coordinator in San Francisco. So that happened from
Brant Boyer, right, Yeah, that's true. Yeah. J T. Barrett,
former Buckeye quarterback, is a new quarterback coach in Chicago.
(01:22:13):
Under Ben Johnson. On that side of things, the Seahawks
ified Clint Kubiak is their new offensive coordinator. So there's
your bring kind of a little bit of first circle
moment there. And then Todd Monkin back, of course, which I.
Speaker 5 (01:22:26):
Would have loved Monkin to end up in If Ben
Johnson didn't go to Chicago and Monkin ends up in Chicago,
that would have been great.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
I kind of wanted him to end up with the
Jags as well. But it's great for the Ravens, no
doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (01:22:38):
So Brant Boyer is now the special teams coordinator in
San Francisco. Sala is back as the DC. That's a
very good staff. Again, that's a very good football team.
I think the Niners will be a very good bounce
back candidate in twenty twenty five. I did hear from
our London correspondent. I don't know if you've seen this
at Ali Gibbe, but that there is a he had
(01:23:00):
the rumor that it would be US. I have no
idea if this is real or not, but oh he
did tweet it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Oh no, no, I don't know. I think go ahead.
I don't want to in the Diners. That would make
sense in London, that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
Pedro over the pond. You and Pedro sharing a hotel room,
little father son trip.
Speaker 5 (01:23:21):
I told him, I told him, I said, that's it's
going to be in October, so be right around his birthday.
So that would be pretty sweet. Yeah, so we'll see
what uh see what he thinks.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
And he can fly over Cleveland to get there. Yeah,
just go straight straight on over.
Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
I just think that, you know. I mean, for all
your father does for you, you're.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
Hi rugby tours. Yeah, yeah, I mean you guys can
do some castling. You do some castling. Be fun, it'd
be fun. Can you imagine if you and I went
with him castling great and then documented it his lessons man,
so much wisdom would be so many, so much wisdom,
and then we could fast fact check at all.
Speaker 4 (01:24:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
I don't think it's all on scholarship, you man, I don't.
We're in another country.
Speaker 3 (01:24:08):
Well I'm not talking about him, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Yeah, no, not on that. All right, So there you go.
There's a lot going on in the league over the
last over the last time again. Yeah all right, we'll
get you some of the top calls from Championship weekend
coming up next to listen to Cleveland Browns Daily on

Oh wem the provide preferred provider of copiers and document

visit Ohio Businessmachines dot com. So good news for a
good buddy, mister Botonio.
Speaker 5 (01:25:00):
Yeah, Joel Batonio will be headed to his seventh consecutive
Pro Bowl, now ranks fourth in team history for most
Pro Bowl selections. He'll be replacing chiefs guard Joe Toney
due to the Super Bowl. So congrats to Joel Batonio,
very well deserving most Pro Bowls by a Brown. The
half ten Jim Brown nine, Lou Grozen nine, Joel Botonio seven,
(01:25:21):
and then Miles Garrett headlines a group of Miles Leroy,
Kelly gen Hickerson, and Dick Schaffrath with six.
Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
Pretty good list, pretty good list, very very good list,
and appropriate that Joel is on it. He was awesome
the second half of the year, especially yes and was
absolutely at top four. All right, let's hear some soundbites
from Championship weekend. Let's start with the early game the
NFC Championship. Here is Saquan taking it sixty on the
first play for the Eagles, Merril Reese and Mike Quick
(01:25:51):
on ninety four wip. We're settling first down. He pitches
it out to Parkley, takes off to the outside. He's
at the fifty, he's at the falling, he's at the thirty.
He's gonna go fifteen ten fuck touch down Barkley sixty yards.
But I was opening tout. He touched it and he
(01:26:14):
took it to the house.
Speaker 4 (01:26:19):
He did.
Speaker 5 (01:26:20):
He touched it and he took that fat No lies
detected there, no when you watch that play back, just
incredible job. They got exactly what they wanted. I don't
know how you were more concerned with a jet motion
than you were with Saquon Barkley. But I mean he
was pretty untouched. Yeah, it's pretty easy. Sure was pretty easy,
(01:26:40):
pretty easy for him.
Speaker 2 (01:26:41):
I think we had that as an over under, didn't
we The longest rush from the g man even on
his bed. He still got it in. Yeah, Josh Allen,
Josh Allen, is what it was all about. Is that
what it came down to you guys only that was
the only difference, which did you got? Which way did
you guys go? You had under fifty one yards rushing
and give a head over and I was told fifty
one and a half would be a big game for xave.
You're worthy. You had that at halftime, So good job, God,
(01:27:05):
but I support you, g man G A lot of
times I'd get that the good Listen, the over under committee,
regular season comittee. We'd get a lot of heat sometimes
about some of those numbers. Then it comes back on
a Monday, pretty good. Maybe you knew.
Speaker 5 (01:27:17):
Maybe you knew, that's why they play the games. Why
Squon hit over twenty seven on his first carry?
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
Sure did?
Speaker 4 (01:27:23):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Here's another one from this game. This was from a
big one hundred Bram Weinstein London Fletcher. So the backdrop
on this is that this was the lead in. This
is after the commanders kept jumping over Louv who goes
over twice twice, and they're like illegal, can't do it.
They kept moving them half a distance. So this is
(01:27:46):
kind of the fall and then he says, basically, we
can award we can award them a score.
Speaker 4 (01:27:50):
If you.
Speaker 2 (01:27:52):
Give them a score, knock it off. So that's enough. Uh,
here is the response.
Speaker 6 (01:27:57):
Six yards deep, he's ready to make his run on
a touch from the half yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
There he comes.
Speaker 6 (01:28:03):
Now he stops pump fakes. There would have been another
off side of the right side of the line, purchase
taking his time, more flags offside. So what happens?
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Don said? What Movi?
Speaker 5 (01:28:16):
So what?
Speaker 4 (01:28:18):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
Its a close bit different in offsides.
Speaker 6 (01:28:23):
So there was a jump on the right side of
the line. Bobby Wagner is going, I don't even know
what the Eagles were doing waiting that long to snap
the ball. We're just trying to draw the ball. Why
encroachment defense number ninety three. Washington has been advised that
at some point the referee can award a score if.
Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
This behavior happens again for now playing. I've been a
guy around again a long time. This is the first
time I've ever heard that ever awarded the score.
Speaker 6 (01:28:56):
Here's the thing, though, they were waiting to snap that ball,
they were hard counting a toush push. What do you
want them to do? They're supposed to try to stop
the play. What do you want them to do?
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
I've never heard it at this day and warned them
a score third grade? That's ridiculous.
Speaker 6 (01:29:18):
All right, So it second of goal to one toush
push again, just snap it, Jalen.
Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
There it goes.
Speaker 6 (01:29:24):
They pushed him over the goal line, touchdown, Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
That was infuriating. All right, there, I love, I love there.
They're quickly showing on a very short list of my
favorite I love at the top. This is third grade,
third grade from wide Stein. That's great.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
The rule, which is yet to be implemented in the
modern NFL, states that the defense will not commit successive
or repeated fouls to prevent a score. The penalty states
that if the violation occurs following a warning, the score
involved is awarded to the offensive team. In this case,
the Eagles would have been given a free touchdown. Rule twelve,
Section three, Article two dubbed rules fouls to prevent a score.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Here's the thing. I wish they did it great, there's
that touchdown. Here's the thing on the tush push thing though,
like Buffalo tried doing it now, the Eagles are just
better at it. They're just really good at it. They
get really good guys in the interior of their offensive line,
and they get a quarterback who squats one thousand pounds,
So the combination of those two things, they're better at it.
They play they play first and nine. Yeah, absolutely, they
(01:30:31):
play first and nine. Yep, yeah, yep. That's it. It's
kind of that simple. All right. We'll have a lot
more fun breaking all of this down as the week continues. Fun,
very fun show. The next level is coming up next.
