Speaker 1 (00:14):
Coming to you live from the Cross Country Mortgage Campus
in Barrie, Ohio. This is Cleveland Browns Daily on eight
fifty ESPN Cleveland, presented by bally Bet Sportsbook, an official
sports betting partner of your Cleveland Browns. Please bet responsibly.
Here are your hosts, Bo Bishop and Nathan Zegura.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Good afternoon, and welcome the Cleveland Browns Daily, brought to
you by bally Bet, official sports betting partner of your
Cleveland Browns. Nathan's aura and give it, give it, Come
in here, Okay? Here's you're so hate? I'm like in
and out, especially in the second hour. What what do
(01:05):
you got going on? We have to weigh trunks today
from one to three at two o'clock.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Of course, why would anything be scheduled outside of one
to three, including like our cases for London, which are
not done yet.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
How would you even know? Huh? How would you even
know what's in that case to London? Correct?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yet we're still building it out, people milling about it. Yeah,
I'll come in periodically, I gotcha.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
That would be wonderful.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Today is game one of a scheduled three hundred and
thirty four games between today and February eighth, twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Are you going to watch the Hall of Fame game?
Andrew Siciliano, Are you gonna watch the Hall of Fame game?
Speaker 4 (01:52):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I think I might throw it on just to see
a little football action. I think I think I think
it has it has background potentially. I told Luca about it.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I give you that I would have it on in
the background. I'm not gonna sit down and intently scrutinize things.
Lindsey Rhodes used to work for NFL Network at ESPN,
had a great tweet, Welcome to the day. We get
excited that football is back, only to realize seconds into
the game that we don't actually recognize ninety five percent
(02:23):
of the play people playing, and we ramp up to
be excited again next week.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
It's here. Yes, that's ex that is exactly right, That's
exactly how it goes. That's why I said I might.
I might tune into it right there, which would be fun.
So yesterday Luca was out here at camp. Gibbet avoided
him and Nana mean to now, you didn't you wanted
no part of Nana. She was looking for you. She
had a she had a bone to pick with you. Oh,
(02:50):
there are a lot of people. She should get line. Nae. No,
we obviously we all love Gibbet. I felt bad I missed.
I don't know how I missed you. I don't know
because I was up here multiple times and they're like,
he's up there. So I was here and then you're gone,
and then you're gone.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, Like I came downstairs and I remembered I got
pulled to the site. We had National Radio here with
a lot, and I remembered seeing you with the stroller,
and I was like, I gotta get over there. Yeah,
and I turned and you were gone. And I was like, Okay,
well maybe they left because we're approaching the end of practice,
and well, yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
He would, and he did. He did great. In fact,
he liked it so much that he rewarded us. In
my opinion, this is a reward. He rewarded us by
sleeping until six in the morning, longest shift of his
career by two hours. As a matter of fact, he just.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
So I'm gonna throw it out, like I've noticed this
with the grand baby. Fresh air, get him outside, get
him in activity, get him active and get him outside,
get him away from the screens and sleep a hell
of a lot better.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
It's been tough. I mean he's not even he doesn't
even know what a screen is correct, But it's been
tough yet because he can't regulate his temperature. He doesn't
possess the ability to sweat and regular sempster. And it's
been too hot. It's been stupid hot, too hot. Now,
I'll tell you what that sixty five felt great. Sixty
five in rain like daylight today. I'm happy with the rain. Yeah,
(04:14):
I'm good. I'm fine with it. And plus, because you know,
it's not like we were golfing anyway. How's golfe last night?
Tied the number one player in the league? You did? Yeah?
A tie? Okay, that's good.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
I felt like considering I hadn't swung a club in
two weeks, three weeks, that things were, things were pretty good.
Had one had one awful hole, but the rest of
it put it together. You know, I think it was
a think of forty six solid, dude, I'll take it absolutely.
That's right in the wheelhouse for these days, for my
(04:51):
golf games.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
That is very solid. So yeah, good on Luca, Good
on Gibbe. Our Hot Topics of the Day, presented by
University Hospitals, the official healthcare partner of your Cleveland Browns
is that, as you mentioned, first NFL game of the
twenty twenty five seasons tonight, the Chargers and the Leons
from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Starting today,
we talked about it football.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
They mate with the starters play one series in this game. No,
I think they should make them. Yeah, I don't think
you can make anybody do it. I don't think you
make it do anything.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I liked it. Come on, it's the Hall of Fame.
I hear you. I'm just saying I don't think you
can make it. I'm sure you can't. I don't think
you just would like to see that. You may, I
see that. I see that you would like that. I
just don't think you can make them do that. I
really don't think you can make them do that. If
somebody got hurt because they were made to do it,
like Jared Goff gets hurt on that first series justin Herbert,
(05:44):
people are like, there'd be riots.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
So the interesting thing about the whole Brocks going through
today goes, wait a minute, So they have four preseason games,
that's right, I said, Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
We had it two years ago. Yep, and we used
to do it on the rig. Yeah, it was the norm.
Four preseason games awful, Yeah, I mean by the fourth
one it was. I can remember being in Chicago for
the final preseason game, rooting for a running clock and
(06:24):
yelling at DEEC who was trying to buy a beer
from a guy walking up the aisle because we were
in the stands at Soldier Field, basically trying to get
a beer guy's attention in the beer. No, Doug, you
may not have a beer right now. I believe that's
a violation of a statutes limitations and whatnots.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
I guess, I don't know. I mean, you put us
in the middle of the stands for a fourth preseason game.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Hey, they put us in the stands for a regular
season game in London. Literally literally, I think we'll be
in a little bit of Chicago. You're at least in
a booth. It just opens very much into the stands.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Well, you like you're walking through the concourse to get
his yes, which is also the case in New England
if I recall correctly, I've never been in that one.
That one's a tight one and it does require a concourse.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Walk well, it'll be better than the last time I
was there, which it poured the entire game and it
wasn't supposed to. Last time I wasn't there, we had
COVID from Never No Names Please, Yeah, from a down
in Cincinnati and COVID. So I missed that one where
(07:36):
we got unfortunately boat raced by the Patriots. Those were
awful games. The other one was it poured. I remember, uh,
miss kay had gotten me. I feel like that had
to be like either the year before or she got me.
Like these nice leather gloves like or fur line. They
were very nice, and it was supposed to be cold.
(07:57):
It was not supposed to rain, and it rained so
hard that like in leather, good leather, when it gets
wet like now, they they might fit Luca. That's how
much they shrunk after that day. Yeah, that was I
just both the last time we went. I don't think
you did. I don't think you were on the last one.
(08:18):
The last time we went was the when I had COVID. Yeah, yeah,
it was. Yeah. The time before that was Frederico, Yes,
and that was exactly what right out of the bye week,
That's exactly what that was.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
And then yeah, the COVID one. We flew in on
a Saturday. We weren't allowed to travel with the team,
so we flew in the afternoon, sunny, beautiful, great, beautiful
fall day. We stayed in Rhode Island. By five o'clock
it had flipped wrath of God, tornado warnings like had
(08:54):
to evacuate our rooms and go downstairs to the banquet hall.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
The team was just pulling up and had to sit
on the buses while there. I mean there were numerous
tornadoes in the area. You could see the funnel clouds
from our hotel room, Jesuise, and it never led up
until we took off Sunday night, Like it just rained, stormed,
and then it just became a cold rain for seven
(09:22):
hours on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, I'm glad. I it was awful every way, shape
and form. Not said that I missed that one, Folks, ESPN.
The OCHO begins tonight and runs through August thirty first,
and is available on all ESPN platforms. What's the craziest
thing you've watched on that's real? I thought it was
in a movie, right, this is real? This is real,
(09:49):
But it was wasn't at first in a movie. Yeah,
it was Dodgeball. Yeah, what's the craziest thing you've watched
on it? I don't I've never seen anything. Here we
go ESPN. The OCHO origin explained Dodgeball movied. The Dodgeball
movie inspired the infamous channel to become a reality. So
(10:13):
the OCHO consists.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
It's been around for seven years, okay, lesser known unconventional
and humorous sports, occupational competitions, E sports, and other competitions
with some athletic, competitive or physical skill component. The block
is traditionally presented in early August. Much of the programming
(10:35):
consists of previously recorded content and reruns previously aired on
ESPN networks, some as far back.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
As the nineteen nineties. Huh so the first year it
ever became an official thing on twenty seventeen, thirteen years
after the movie Dodgeball was released in two thousand and four,
which made the reference to it. It used the platform
to fill airtime on ESPNU during the college football off season,
(11:03):
brought back the day long come conversion twenty eighteen and
again in twenty twenty two. Twenty three twenty four honored
OCHO years of OCHO by expanding the coverage of four
days of Success, and the four day structure was continued
in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
All right, now I'm in, all right, so I've got
the schedule for the first few days.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Are you ready for the hear of the sports that
are on there? You ready? I'm ready. Fluketag isn't that
the nail game? That's the Hofs game. I'm telling you
that's a great game. I enjoy that game. Is that
the nail? Oh no, it's not. That's what I thought
(11:39):
it was, No wrong. Fluketag is the unique event where
teams design to build human powered flying machines and launch
them off a platform and attempt to fly as far
as possible over a body of water. Yeah, because ninety
percent of them just goes straight. What's the hammer one?
Hammer schlogging? Is that what it is? I think that
might be. You have to flip the hammer and then
(11:59):
trade chef to pick up you get one swing. You
can't just have to hit until you get the nail
all the way. It's pretty awesome. They have been at
like october Fest. Now, yes, it's exactly what it is. Yeah,
hammer slogging? All right, All right, back to the very
exciting lineup of things that you get, hey, look this
is good. We're on streamer games, Pro roller Hockey, National
(12:22):
Ball Hockey, National Putting Tour. Would watch that. Goat racing,
t Rex races. I thought they were extinct. Corgi races
would love that. As a former Corky owner, dog surfing,
roof ball, good Game, one Wheel World Championships, Golden Tea
World Championships, Freestyle Trampoline Championships, and Auctioneers Championship, the Mullet Championship.
That sounds great, Beach Tennis, rest Ball, highlighte Awesome Game,
(12:46):
outhouse racing, Swiss Stone Tossing, mail boat Jumping, Bubblegum Blowing Championship,
fleeen Shot, Goodyear, Blimp Race, Paintball Championships, Omega Ball, Kickball,
trick shops, pop darts, Slippery Stairs, the Savannah Bananas, Archery,
Love Archery, Dodgeball, of Course, Papa Shot Championships, Pillow Fighting Championships,
car jitsu where people are like stuck in a car
(13:07):
and they have to fight each other, Crazy chess, the
Microsoft Exceell World Championships. Never heard of that, Robot fighting,
foot golf, arm wrestling, ping pong. Ping pong is an
Olympic sport bike, polo, ax and knife throwing, cool tire wrestling,
soap hockey, and tractor pulling. Hold on, I got more? Hmm.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
August second, at two thirty in the morning, you can
watch Sasquatch uncut, beard.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
And mustache competition. I don't know what that is, but
I'm in. I don't know. I like it.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
The USA Mullet Championships. Yeah you mentioned some mullet. Yeah,
thing and mullets always make me smile. The Wisconsin Auctioneers Championship.
How do we hoff entered into that?
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Well, dude, professional auctioneers are They do their own thing.
They're able to their professional auctioneers though there is legite puzzling. Yeah,
how fast can you get that puzzle? That's what I'm
talking about? Can you? How good are you Papa shot?
(14:17):
I was I've never seen you. I've seen you a
lot of things, but never in my day. Very How
do you let me what's your Papa shot form?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:27):
How do you how do you do Papa shot? Yeah?
I just do you go underhand amateurs? Are you guy serious?
You can't be good at papa shot playing that way?
I do just know you can't shooting one with both
hands on one basketball. Oh no, no, no, no, no no,
I'm like this. That's how I Rode is the greatest
(14:49):
Papa player I've ever seen. That's how he does the
whole underhand, not underhand. It's like, oh no, no, he does
the underhand, but the reverse of that. You're going underhand
and then you're making up a ball and go like this,
I've shot three. You have no idea. It's a different game.
You're I'm playing a different game than you are. You're
(15:09):
playing a basketball shooting game.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
I have, I have pop shot in my basement and
I've I've I've mastered it, so you're.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Not gonna miss. I don't care about that. I'm not
gonna miss either. I'm gonna shoot twenty more shots than you.
You're you're gonna miss way more though.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
I'm gonna make like of the shots I put up,
and I'm move I move fast too, like it's.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yeah, perfect batsman. So anything it hits rims in, I'm amphibious, dude,
I can use both hands. You gotta play one day.
Let's well again. I am. I'm happy to do it,
and I'll keep my saying bravado. I'm talking about in
my day, which is not now. I couldn't even tell
(15:53):
you less my playpop shot. But dude, in my day
I was doing now what I will do it right
in your day. In my day of playing a lot
of Papa shot, Dude, I made a lot of coupons
in my day. In college, we had a bar famous
that had it had full shot, which I was like,
(16:15):
like full and then it had pop shot. My buddy
d Strom is also a very electric Papa shot player
as well, and he's in the same same boat. Yeah,
I used to dive bar, dude. I used to go
crush people.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
At dive bar.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Crush shout out justin Yeah, sands the best. He had
a guy though, who worked there, Keith. That was very
good because we would play. Also on Mizfest. We would
go to some big place I don't even know what.
It was, huge, big bar, and there was a we'd
always have a Papa shot tournament. Undefeated. What was that?
(16:52):
What LeVar ball say, never lost, never lost. I could
find the place that the pop shot is in, like
the back left, and we would to hold it. Yeah,
I'm sure it's beautiful. I'm sure were you're doing it's
very pretty. Oh, it's so pretty. Look at the goose. Great,
come on, man, come on, come on, I'm just go
(17:15):
do me this favor. You're I know, you're very dexterous,
you're very skilled. Just go like, try what I'm talking
about I have and you're not as good that way?
Oh man, are you? Because you can you know? Are
you only reliable right handed on those? So what's the problem.
Speaker 5 (17:36):
I'm just I'm just not as accurate, Like I can't
with one hand. You can't just put it right against
the glass and it's gonna drop in every time.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Like so you're slamming off the glass. No, I swish? Okay, Well,
then we talk about the glass.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
Because I feel like doing two hands, you'd have to
bank it in.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
No, dude, No, you're going You're going for just over
the front rim, and you have perfect vacine. So if
you hit the front rim, it goes the one that
goes like that, it goes yeah, bo boom boom boom.
You can do one hand if you want. That's also
fast because you're using this hand as the gather. Trust me, dude,
trust me. I've seen a lot of I've been in
(18:13):
a lot of I don't know states. All right, So Butler,
are you running around are running? Is this a lot
of like how you're funding your time at college? He plays,
I don't. I don't have at college.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
I have it at home in my base.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
But there isn't like a pop There's not a bar
that a butler bar that has Papa shot. Not that
I'm familiar with the merit demerit, big demerit. All right,
So that's where we are, all right, coming up on
the show. We've got a lot of stuff for you
here today, and I'm even gonna invent my own segment
at some point because I want to. By the way,
(18:50):
you can get your mailback questions in to us using
at Browns Underscore Daily or on the YouTube stream. We'll
get that, all right. We're gonna hear from why I
tell her, We're gonna hear from a former NFL quarterback,
an analyst for NFL Network, David Carr with Andrew Ceciliano.
We've got the best from uh D and Jimmy haslm's
press conference. We got some around the leagues off and
then you know what I'm gonna do, because he kind
(19:10):
of hitted this some questions for you seven practice deep,
I'm gonna kind of go through position by position where
things kind of stand. It feels like perfect. You know,
seven days in the camp and you know what that
what that looks like. So that's where we're at. That's
what we're gonna do. Wyatt Tuller coming up next. You're
listening to Clevean Browns Daily presented by bally Bett Sportsbook
and official sports betting partner of the Cleveland Browns. Please
(19:32):
bet responsibly.

Whyatt Teller Check it out. Were happy to be joined
by a great friend of the program, Brown's Pro Bowl
(20:24):
right guard, Wyatt Teller and Wyatt, how the heck are you? Man?
Speaker 7 (20:27):
I'm good, Thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
We're always happy to have you. I got to ask
you this, this heat has been nuts. Is this this
like did you get any of this in college?
Speaker 8 (20:37):
That?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Is this taking you back to that? Or is this
new level of heat in Cleveland?
Speaker 7 (20:41):
Yeah, I will say, you know, growing up in northern
Virginia can get a little warm. I remember days where
its mid nineties, high nineties. Now yeah, yeah, no, I
mean not as humid as South Carolina. Sure, you know
anywhere in the true Deep South, but but yeah, no,
it was. It was warm Virginia at Tack. You're in
the mount eighty five degrees in gorgeous all the time.
(21:03):
That's how the summer is. And then here, you know,
we've had pretty mild summers. This was the first reel
I would consider while I've been here, real winter, in
real summer, where it is you know, it gets there.
I will say this, You do have to remind yourself
we're not in Tampa, We're not in Miami, in Houston,
there's a lot places that. Yeah, I don't even know
(21:25):
how they practiced me neither.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
And yesterday you guys had the pads on. What was
that like, first day in the pads on top of
the heat, all of it getting out there and it
looked like compared to what I recall and tell me
if I'm wrong, but typically the first day in pads.
I know that the Greenbrier last year was kind of
just position groups. Yeah, and you guys got after multiple
eleven on eleven periods, the intensity ratcheted up.
Speaker 9 (21:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:45):
I've definitely noticed the intensity of this camp.
Speaker 10 (21:47):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
Yeah, it's been brought up.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
You know.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
I think that, you know, after a season like we
had last year, you know, we gotta we got to
create some toughness. You know. I don't think any of
the guys in that in our locker room, or any
of the guys you know in our coaching staff are mentally,
but it just helps you understand you can go a
lot further than you you know you think you can
your body. You know, your mind will fail before your
body does.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
How's it been for you getting back in the mix?
Obviously kind of maybe a little bit of a return,
I would say, to the roots of what you did
probably earlier in your career. Here with Cleveland Browns coach
Bloomgren feels like somebody that the offensive line guys are
gonna like working for a lot. What's kind of that
been like for you?
Speaker 7 (22:23):
Yeah, No, I mean you kind of hit the nail
on the head. I think that we're getting back to
what we're good at, you know, and what's fun. You know,
past pro is not fun. There might be some offensive
lineman that I think pass protection is fun. I would disagree.
I don't think going backwards against a guy who's three
hundred pounds and probably I'm just gonna be real here
is probably more athletic, probably stronger, but you know, you know, faster.
(22:47):
But at the same time, you know, we get to
we get those plays back in the run game where
they have to now get hit double teams, you know,
you know, pull stuff like that. So you know, it's
it's what we're good at, and we're getting back to it.
I appreciate that. I also love coach bloom Graen and
I think he's a great coach.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
It feels like, to me and tell me that this
is wrong. I'm not no expert. Joe Thomas has taught
me a great deal about offensive line play, but far
from an expert. It seems like this year, when you
guys are pulling, you're kind of square to the line,
quicker than I remember you're being with from Jury's shoulders standpoint,
is that something technique wise that you guys are working on.
Speaker 7 (23:21):
Yeah, I think that a lot of our polls, you know,
skip pole versus uh, you know traditional oh pole where
you know your open pole or whatever whatever someone wants
to call it oh pole where you're crossing the center.
Some people do it skip pole, some people do it ohpole.
Bill was a big opole guy. His mindset was, you know,
you're not on the field. You're athletic enough to be
on the field as one of my offensive linemen. You
(23:43):
can rotate your shoulders and rotate your shoulders, but sometimes
you'd miss the hole or sometimes it'd hit a little wider.
But so the skip pole is just to basically stay square,
you know, put your foot in the ground and getting north.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Okay, And yesterday you guys got a lot of work
and some of that stuff. What's it been like for
you going against some of these young guys. Grant obviously
the fifth pick in the draft you're gonna get. You
get pretty familiar with him out there. E Malie Collins
is in the mix as well. Now, what's it been
like kind of getting to look at that front which
has really been remade in many cases in the middle
and is expected to be obviously a strong part of
this team.
Speaker 9 (24:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (24:14):
No, I feel like, uh, you know, we had really
good tach D tackles last year. We've had really good
D tackles my entire career here. But you know, this
year it feels you know, it feels different. We have
some guys that can you know what coach Schwartz wants.
They're they're doing and they're they're not easy to block.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
When it's a rookie, do you sometimes have to be
like it's training, kimp, buddy, Let's see. I will say
a little bit. I will say this, I think got
the deal last year.
Speaker 7 (24:38):
Well, there isn't any brother in lawn, but there is
sometimes where it's like, hey, if I'm if you got
me on skates, brother, you don't need to put me
in the quarterback's lap. So he hits his hand on
your your helmet. I haven't had to have many conversations Mason.
Mason gets it.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Yeah, he gets it's fun. It's good.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
He's he's a rookie, but he's a pro. He gets it.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, that's good in the huddle. Many different voices, four
of them so far this year. What's that kind of
been like getting the you know, have Joe Flacco back,
you bring in a new guy, Kenny Pickett, and then
the two rookies Gabriel and Shure.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
Yeah, I mean more the same. I mean I've had
a couple of quarterbacks. Yeah, so's it's nothing new. But no,
all jokes aside, we've you know, we've just got to
be able to find consistency whoever's back there. You know,
we're not looking back. We might get the play call,
but then we're looking forward. You've got to block the front.
You know, we have seven to six, seven, eight guys
to block every play. So you know, it's it's nothing.
(25:27):
It's nothing we haven't handled.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
One of the things they say in training camp you
get sick of going against the same guys. Well this year,
the way it's kind of set up is you're not
really gonna do that. We're gonna go next week. You're
gonna be in Charlotte the week after that. If Philadelphia
taken on the Eagles. Do you like those joint practices
and does that give you, you know, some real good
kind of sense of where you are?
Speaker 7 (25:45):
No, I don't. I wouldn't say I like joint practices.
But I understand the reason for him. You know, I,
like you said, you do get bored against going against
the same guys. That being said, in twenty twenty, we
didn't have any preseason games nothing. We went out there
first week. I went against the same guys for five weeks.
So you just you learn how to get better through
incremental differences whatever it is. Sure, but no, I do
(26:08):
like competing, and I like going against uh, you know,
different d tackles and just seeing what what different moves
they have. How can I you know, you know, perfect
the moves against those and make sure that they don't
get me during the season when it matters. Not that
preseason doesn't matter, It all matters, but it's just slightly different.
The only reason I'd say, you know, joint practices aren't
fun is because you're going on you know, they know
(26:29):
your snap count by the second day, they're rearing back.
If you had a good day that first day, oh yeah,
it's not gonna be fun that second day. But but no,
we you know, we have we have our work cut
out for us. We have we have a hard, hard schedule.
We have you know, good teams we're playing against in
the preseason, you know, super Bowl champs. Uh, so we
we have we have our work.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Cutout for us. Y, I was gonna ask you about that.
You know, that's the last of the two joint practices
in Philadelphia. Defending Super Bowl champs. Darn good defensive front,
darn good guys and big, big, big human beings on
the interior. That's one that I feel like, you guys
come out of that, you're gonna be like, Okay, that's
the one that's gonna give you a little barometer. But
also we're ready to play whoever is thrown at us.
Speaker 7 (27:08):
Exactly like they have guys who are fast, they have
guys who are big and strong. They have guys who
are fast, who are big and strong. So it's gonna
be you know, it's a good test of our metal.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
All right, important questions now, one, how's the family?
Speaker 7 (27:22):
Family is good? Mom's good, MAM's good. H Brooks he's good,
Gigi's good, They're all good.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
How's the golf game?
Speaker 7 (27:29):
Golf game is not good? Uh finished the in the
high eighties at the end of the year, So I
was playing a little bit better beginning of the season started,
you know, mid to high nineties and then got it down.
But now I take seven seven months off, so my
golf game's gonna.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
Turn good to go.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
But that eventually will get you back in there. Yeah,
I do have to ask.
Speaker 7 (27:48):
I have forty years to play golf.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I'm not exactly you do you have a whole a
whole life longer than that.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Yeah, A focus on football.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
What a glorious game. I'll tell you what. I walked
in the sem the other day and like people have
worn it out, there is a full on groove in
the middle of that.
Speaker 7 (28:02):
Matt, which I don't know if that's a good thing.
I feel like you shouldn't be hitting beaver tails in
an indoor but hey whatever, you know that should be
it should be smooth, just right on the edge. But no,
I feel like, you know, that's an awesome little thing
that we got. We didn't have a you know, player's
lounge for you know, three years or four years since COVID,
so it was nice. And then you know, our equipment,
our equipment room grew. There's just you know, as a
(28:25):
as an organization, we've we've had our building for so
many years. Yeah, that you just got to kind of
create a way to do it. So it was nice
that they built this beautiful indoor or you know, indoor
weight room that uh, that we have a cool little
very cool yeah, cool little players lounging there.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
All right. And then from the summer was your favorite
thing you did this summer?
Speaker 7 (28:42):
Got to go home for the first Well, so I'm
you know, I called Virginia home called Ronoke, you know,
you know, my hometown, but well hometown would technically be
built in but where we're gonna live forever is Ronoke.
And we finally bought a house that some of it furnished.
It was the first time going home and going home.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Yeah, it was really cool. That's awesome, man, awesome. Very
excited to have you back out here. We're in the mix.
Here we go, baby, twenty thirty five Cleveland Browns. Thrilled
to have you on the line obviously and thrilled to
have you on the show day. Why thanks so much,
Thanking Nathan. That is Wyatt Teller.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
So the forever homes in Roanoke seven, Yeah, I mean
I figured they would go they would go back home.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
That he and Carl, I mean they're both from that
area and totally understand.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Yeahs where there's a lot of navel stuff, right, I
was going to say, that's on the water.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
If I'm correct, I believe I think there's a big
naval base right there. My extraor neighbor I think was
stationed there. I think you still might be that I
grew up next to Yeah, Rowan.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Oak, that was where that was the closest big city though,
when we were at the Greenbrier, if I'm not mistaken,
when remember Deontay Foreman had to get taken somewhere, I think, yeah, yeah,
there you go, there you go.
Speaker 8 (30:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
I mean, look, he's clearly he's excited, as he should be.
These guys are very excited about the offense. They're very
excited about yeah, Mike Bloomgren. So yes, this is a
situation that our guys on offense are excited about. And
I think, you know, you'll get to see a little
bit more of what they're actually able to do when
you're in joint practices, because yes, you're gonna be safe
(30:25):
with the other people, but you're gonna be you know,
using probably some techniques that you might not have been using.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
I am guys, I am fascinated to see how the
joint practices work for like the Week one. We've never
done that. We've already done the second week of the preseason.
We've never done it in week one of the preseason.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Well, it makes me week one. And it's only one day.
Normally there's two days. So usually one team has a
good day and then another team comes roaring back the
next day, or in some cases, nobody roars back and
it's all bad. We're all good, depending on your yep,
all you're doing.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Yeah, I'm fascinated to see how a one day practice,
joint practice works.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Me too. It'll be uh, that'll be interesting. And then
how does you know after a two day I don't
expect you know, guys that the Browns are very comfortable
with on their team or like in prominent roles. I
don't think they play against the Eagles. But with just
one day of joint practice, I think you could still
see some people play against the Panthers. And I think
(31:32):
right now, given that it seems as though we are
as far away as possible, from as far away as
possible from having a starting quarterback named that, you're gonna
need to see these people play.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Next Friday night. Yeah, the eighth of August is gonna
be must it's gonna be appointment listening and appointment watching.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
I mean it's seven o'clock, kids, I mean that's every
quarterback is going to get a pretty big turn at
the at the wheel.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yes, because I would assume. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
I don't know what pickett status is going to be,
but I don't think are you in a hurry to
rush him back out there?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
If he's I think we'll get an answer on that.
I think tomorrow. And I my expectation right now just
based on nothing because I'm not a doctor, but just
seeing him and just what it feels like to me.
It feels like he's got a good opportunity back at practice.
I think it was an abundance of caution, absolutely, and
(32:41):
I think he'll be I think he'll be ready to go. Well.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
I think I think we're going to go pads tomorrow
and Saturday.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Okay, so I can't do three days in a row, say,
be off Sunday, then practice Monday, Tuesday, travel day Tuesday,
so there's no practice Tuesday. May there's an early I
think there might be an early something.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
You know, because I'm talking into the microphone. Actually Tuesday
will just be lift and run. Okay, maybe there's a
walk I'm assuming there's a walk through at some point,
and then we'll fly to Carolina that afternoon.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
So, and I believe we will be a more morning
practice with Carolina that joint one. Just knowing the Carolina
weather in the afternoon, the storms usually roll in, so
it's a lot like Florida in the summer.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Hey, I'm all for it. I like that morning practice.
Let's yeah, let's knock that out. Let's do that. We
shall do that, all right. When we come back, we
are gonna hear from a former NFL quarterback in analys
for NFL Network, David Carr, and kind of get his
thoughts on the quarterbacks, and then from there, we're gonna
go ahead and we're gonna talk a little bit about
(34:04):
where this roster is. Seven days into training camp, We've
got a lot to get to. We're going to do
that for you right here as Cleveland Browns Daily, brought

look at the Browns offense through seven days of training
(34:54):
camp in just a second. But now let's hear about
the quarterbacks. And who better to talk about that than
a I'm number one overall pick in the NFL draft,
started right away as a rookie NFL quarterback and analyst
for NFL Network. David Carr talked with the Browns play
by play voice Andrew Ceciliano.
Speaker 11 (35:11):
It kind of feels like old times, David Carr and me,
this guy sitting in led directors, just two dudes wearing
shorts in front of a camera talking ball man bro.
Speaker 10 (35:27):
When I when I saw this guy's face, when I
pulled up, the joy that hit my heart, having not
such a light, having not slept, I said, there's got
to be a familiar face here, this guy.
Speaker 6 (35:39):
It's good to see you.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Guys.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
Got a good one man. Listen to him. He's got it.
Speaker 11 (35:42):
So David just got off the red eye I did
from the West coast. How do you feel a million
bucks man? I feel like I'm actually back in training camp.
This is the So this if you ever want to
know what it's like to be in training camp, take
a red eye and then just go right to an event.
That's how you feel about a weekend. So I did
that Tuesday into Wednesday. The issue is Wednesday or the
(36:05):
benefit for me is that practice Wednesday was at four
thirty or something like that.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
So I go take a nap.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Now, shut it down.
Speaker 11 (36:12):
We got the nine to thirty practice for you, buddy,
and that plane just land.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
I'm happy to be here. This is gonna be fun.
Speaker 11 (36:19):
David is here as part of the Back to the Other
weekend coverage NFL Network with our good friend Jef Judea.
They'll be on all day here from the Cross Country
Mortgage Campus, and all eyes.
Speaker 6 (36:27):
Obviously are on the quarterbacks.
Speaker 11 (36:29):
There are other issues here with the Browns, other battles,
other injuries.
Speaker 6 (36:33):
To discuss, but it's about the quarterbacks. Let's talk about
the rookies.
Speaker 11 (36:36):
Specifically, when you look at Dylan Gabriel pick ninety four,
when you look at Judor Sanders pick one forty four
as a former pick number one overall who played immediately
as a rookie, what do you look to see today?
Speaker 10 (36:51):
It's it's a lot, But I think ultimately we always
talk about the eye test.
Speaker 6 (36:55):
That's what I want to see.
Speaker 10 (36:56):
I want to be here and see them live and
see how they move, see how they throw, see if
they can layer the ball. There's a lot of things
that you just can't see on film. You can see
the competitiveness, you can see overall ability, but like actually
getting to see them in eleven on eleven drills, in
seven on seven working amongst their teammates, you can get
a really good sense about the quarterback moves also his
(37:20):
ability to understand early. That is so crucial because as
a young quarterback, you walk into the huddle and there
are now grown men trying to feed their families that
have done this for five ten years, and they're looking
right into your soul like they aren't looking at the
flashy wristbands.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
They do not care.
Speaker 10 (37:38):
Can you if I put you in this field with me,
can you make sure I have a job next year.
That's literally what you're tasked with as a young quarterback,
and so knowledge is key. Man like it as much
as you can dig into understanding, and even if you
don't know what you're saying, say it with confidence in
the huddle and just get out there and try to
lead first because the physical ability will come.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
It's just about mentally being able to do.
Speaker 11 (38:01):
It how much and the mental thing I think is
a big part of it. Because Dylan Gabriel made the
point on Friday, Hey, it doesn't matter how many reps
I get, the mental reps are equally as important as
right behind the line I could be, you know, working
through it. He's exactly a play and Shoudor has certainly
said the same things as well. Gabriel is getting more
second team reps than Sanders is. Sanders had some on Friday.
(38:25):
There is a red zone session on Thursday which Shaudor
is working with the third team and honestly it was
a bit of a mess.
Speaker 6 (38:30):
Offensive line did him no favors it.
Speaker 11 (38:32):
Reily, you can't get a fair read on what the
guy can do because you can't get the playoff. How
important is it for the rookies to get reps with
the first and second team to see how they can
do things with a smoother overall operation.
Speaker 10 (38:49):
Yeah, there's gonna be moments, and maybe maybe now is
not the time. Maybe it's a couple more days into
camp or maybe even a week, because what you want
to do as a coaching staff, and we just saw
some of these guys walking out here, you have to
be really careful about those moments because exactly what I
was just talking about, when you walk into the huddle
and you don't know what you're doing, guys see it
so fast, and it's not even that you don't know
(39:10):
the play. It's just like there's a different level of
confidence that you call play with that you command ownership
of the team. And so Dylan's exactly right, that's what
you have to get to. And until they see that
in the huddle amongst their guys in the meeting rooms,
they can't throw them in there because all you're gonna
do is put them behind and you're gonna make it
really tough for them to sell their teams that they
(39:30):
can play.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
And so here's sh Door Sanders right behind us.
Speaker 9 (39:32):
Now.
Speaker 11 (39:32):
If you're watching on the video, he just came through.
He came out of the building through the gauntlet. We
got a bunch of kids here at Sharon and scream
at his name, and they were doing that yesterday Friday,
on the very first day of the open practice as well.
Speaker 6 (39:44):
Certainly he has the popularity.
Speaker 11 (39:45):
Dylan Gabriel has the popularity and fans just want to
see any quarterback get out there and succeed. You is
the former number one overall pick in two thousand and two.
You were thrown in immediately. Yeah, you started day one,
by the way, you one day number one as well
in primetime, he is, We didn't know what we're doing.
Beat the Dallas Cowboys. Had a big party in my
(40:06):
house that night. We remember watching the Cowboys went down
and we all celebrated.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
It was great.
Speaker 11 (40:10):
David Carr philosophically, though, after seeing Mahomes sit, after seeing
Aaron Rodgers sit, and after going through what you went through, Yeah,
are you of the mind that a quarterback needs to
sit and watch or should they be thrown into the fire?
Speaker 2 (40:23):
No?
Speaker 10 (40:23):
Sit, Sit, sit as long as you can and me,
it's a luxury. And what you guys have here now
with these with the two veteran guys able to be
ahead of these two young guys that that takes so
much pressure off them for a.
Speaker 6 (40:33):
Lot of reasons.
Speaker 10 (40:34):
In the meeting rooms, you get to actually watch Joe
Flacco and Kenny kind of work through you know, how
do you talk to a coach, how do you get
game plan oriented to where you get your stuff in like,
how do you how do you work and navigate that
in space? And then at the same time, the outside
pressure is going to be so big because as soon
as one of these guys goes out Dylan Orschador and
they throw a couple of touchdowns in the preseason, everybod's
gonna want me to play. But to have that veteran
(40:55):
buffer to where you say, you know, let's just we're
gonna put the veteran guys out there, We're gonna let
them go, We're gonna try to focus on getting this
team to play as good football as we can.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
That kind of gives them.
Speaker 10 (41:05):
Some time to kind of just breathe. I honestly like
when you go out here and you're in shorts. So
for me, I just I threw it better than King
Graham and Tony Banks and these guys, and so they
put me in. There was no real other option. These
guys were kind of towards the end of their career.
At least with Flaka, who is at the end, he
can still sling it. Kenny's a young guy they traded for.
You have some guys that you can put out there
(41:25):
in front of them and kind of let them breathe
for a second. So I'm a big fan of sitting
watch these guys perform. The first time I went through
a week of preparation to get ready to play the
Cowboys that game you mentioned, I was doing it myself
because I had now won the job, and the veteran
guys are less eager to help you in that situation. Unfortunately,
that's the way that it is. And so I think
(41:45):
that the longer you can go without putting that pressure
on the young kid, the better.
Speaker 11 (41:50):
And you know what the schedule does. The Browns no
favors either as well. You open at home against Joe Burrow,
you're on the road against Lamar Jackson, then you're home
against Jordan Love and then you're on the road again
as Jared Goff, and then you go then you.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
Go to London.
Speaker 10 (42:03):
Let's just wait till after London, and then you wait
after London is no bye at Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (42:11):
And Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
So let's wait till Christmas.
Speaker 6 (42:13):
We go with Christmas everyone, Christmas present little Snoward Dylan
would be great, great present. Good to see your team. Man,
stay stay over there under the ten. That's gonna be great.
I mean, there's no rain, it's humid, but you know
what I'm ready for. It's gonna rain in like an hour.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Pert a good card, everybody, all right? That's former number
one overall pick David Carr urging patience for the Browns
with their young quarterbacks. So one of the things I
said that we would do is kind of take a
look at where things stand now for this roster through
seven days of training camp. And obviously we'll get that
(42:47):
started here on the offensive side of the football. Quarterback,
you have four of them in camp right now. You
could keep four. You could keep three. If you keep three,
it is my strong belief that that means one of
either Kenny Picket or Joe Flacco would not be here.
I think it is more likely than not the answer
(43:08):
will be three at that position. But the brown certainly
could keep four if Kenny Pickett is back tomorrow. As
I think he will be. No scores on that. That
is just I think he will be. I think we
have a real competition. I've said along. I think he
is the leader in the clubhouse. Joe Flacco, who's a
tremendous human and a great quarterback and a great friend
(43:31):
of this program. I think one of those two will
be starting opening day. And then you've got the rookies
Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders. So right now you've got four.
I think it's likely three spots could end up being
all four of them. Andrew Berry said that that certainly
is possible. Running back, right now, you've got Jerome Ford,
You've got Dylan Samson, Pierre Strong, Armani Marshall, and Toa
(43:53):
to Taua Toa Taua who just joined the team recently
and is a north south runner, could be a short
yardage runner as well. Played very well in the UFL,
actually led that that league in rushing touchdowns last year.
I think you're gonna end up with three here. I
did not mention Quinjohn Judkins again, not scores, but if
(44:15):
you listen to you know what was said by Jimmy
Haslam and by others, it sounds like Quinjon Judkins will
be here sooner rather than later. And if he is,
obviously he's going to make this football team. So I
think right now Judskins, Sampson, and Jerome Ford are probably
your top three. We just don't know about the Judkins situation.
So Pierre Strong's in the mix there. I think Marshall
(44:38):
and Tau are guys that you know, could be looked
at as practice squad guys down the road. The Browns
have one full back in right now, Troy Harston. I
just think that's going to be very difficult in kind
of the numbers crunch. To see a fullback make this roster.
You we'd have to be a very special player and
not say that Harston is not. I don't know if
we've seen that or the vibes are that he is,
you know, on the level of an Andy Janovitch or
(45:01):
Kyle Hughes check somebody that you've got to keep on
your roster. Wide receiver room. This is what Browns typically
keeps six. I don't know if they keep six. I
think Jerry Judy and Cedric Tillman are locks. I think
DeAndre Carter, given his returnability, is probably a lock. Jamari
Thrashes has played well. I think he's a lock, and
to my eyes, these are my eyes. Deontay Johnson keeps
(45:22):
performing the way that he's performing, he's gonna be a
locked as well. Deantay Johnson absolutely professional receiver, Still can separate,
still can get open in his hand. Some really really
good days of camp. So also in the room, you've
got David Bell, third round pick from a few years ago.
He's been injured though we have still not seen him
at all in camp, and you cannot make the club
in the tub. He's going to need to get out
there and he's going to need to be really impressive.
(45:42):
Of the younger guys, I think three of them have
shown some aptitude here and you know, I don't know
if they'll be able to make the team, but certainly
practice squad candidates, and maybe they are the guys who
shock and make the team. And that's Gage, larved An,
Luke Floria, Cayden Davis. Those are the guys right now.
Those three have stood out to me. Larvad End has
(46:06):
been incredible. Gauge made probably the play of the day
in the padded period section yesterday. You could tell his
teammates like him. Luke Floria is beloved by his teammates,
and if you went to the Hungry Dogs, that's the
opportunity period. Afterwards, they had a one on one for
push ups and he got open door through a beautiful ball.
But you can see Jerry Judy who is running down
in mob and Flory, so he's got the respect of
(46:26):
his teammates. And then Kate and Davis has played well also.
Keishan Johnson has made some nice catches, Kate McDonald's made
some nice catches. Winston Wright just got here. But I
think right now you could have five in that receiver room.
Potentially six if Larva, dann or Floria, Kate and Davis,
if they just have monster preseasons and the Browns feel
like they're going to lose them. Otherwise, tight end, I
(46:50):
think you're gonna have three. Nadjoku fan and white Hart fan.
It has been incredible. The Chief is the Chief, and
Blake white Cart definitely has been that third tight end
so far. They also have Brendon Bates and Salcanela. I
think you keep three tight ends. I could see them
bringing in somebody though, and then maybe keeping Blake Whiteheart
for example, on the practice squad I definitely think either
Bates or Canela will be on the practice squad as well.
(47:11):
The offensive line. This is where it gets dicey because
you're probably going to be limited to twenty four on offense,
so I think you kind of have like the spots.
Let's say you go three quarterbacks, three running backs at
six five. Five receivers would be eleven, three tight ends
would be fourteen, and you're going to have at least
(47:33):
nine offensive linemen, so that's twenty three. So I think
you have one spot that could be a sixth receiver,
a tenth offensive lineman, a fourth quarterback, or a fourth
running back. That's kind of the way I see it
right now. Your starters or Dwan Jones, Joelatonio, Ethan Posak,
White Telller, Jack Conklin, Locks, Zach Ziner I think is
probably a lock. Cornelius Lucas is a lock. And then
(47:54):
your other backups that you feel pretty good about, Luke Whippler,
Tevin Jenkins. I think if he's healthy, he's going to
be a lock. Whippler's a lock, is the backup center,
and then there's Jackson Barton, who right now is working
as the backupright tackle now he's a veteran, but in
the league, do the Browns think that, you know, they
could get him or somebody else to the practice squad
and go with nine. That's the question. You also have,
(48:17):
you know, Roy and Bettica, Javion Cohen, Bucky Williams, Lorenzo Thompson,
Julian Pearl, Jason Ivy, and d'Artagnan Tinsley, which is an
incredible name. But that's kind of where things stand. I
think as you look at it on the offensive side,
I think you're gonna end up. Historically it's been twenty
four offense, twenty six defense, three specialists to get your
fifty three historically, and going through the defense, you can
(48:40):
see that it's that's probably where it's going to be. Again.
It is. It would be very difficult to have less
than that on the defensive side of the ball right now.
So that's where it is. That's how I see it again.
I think you're kind of in a competition between that
tenth offensive lineman, between the fourth quarterback, the fourth running
back in the six wide receiver for that final roster spot.
(49:03):
Really on the offensive side. When we come back in
our number two, we're gonna go take do what I
just did, but we're gonna run through the defense real quickly.
We are also going to hear from d and Jimmy HASLM.
Brown's ownership press conference from a couple of days ago.
We still will go around the league for you and
we are going to have the mailbag, So get your
questions in at Browns Underscore Daily and on the YouTube stream.
(49:28):
Our number one in the books, Cleveland Browns Daily, presented
by ballet Bet Sportsbook and official sports betting partner of
the Cleveland Browns. Please bet responsibly.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
You are listening to Cleveland Browns Daily on eight fifty
ESPN Cleveland, presented by bally Bet Sportsbook, an official sports
betting partner of your Cleveland Browns. Please bet responsibly.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
All right, welcome back our number two a Cleveland Browns
Daily presented by ballet Bet sports Book, official sports betting
partner of your Cleveland Browns. Please bet responsibly before we
head back to the podium. We went through the offensive side.
We're gonna go ahead and take a look at the
defensive side of your Cleveland Browns through seven days through
(50:29):
training camp. And this is a defense that you were expecting.
In the mic, linebacker position named Jordan Hicks. He's retired.
You're expecting at the quarterback position the name of mj Emerson,
and he has unfortunately suffered a season ending Achilles injury.
We knew that you'd be without Jeremiah Wusukorromo. So this
is a group that looks very different than perhaps you
(50:51):
thought it looked at the beginning. So as we take
a look at it, I'll kind of go through and
tell you kind of how I see it, who I
think locks are, and what's kind of up for grabs
here in these rooms. We'll start at the defensive end room. McGuire,
Alex Wright, Joe Tryan, Shoyinka, Miles Garrett. Those four to
(51:14):
me locks to make this roster. I do think you
will get another one of Cam Thomas or Julian o'cuara.
So I think you're gonna end up with five defensive ends.
I think you'll end up with five defensive ends the
defensive tackle position. Your locks, in my mind are Mason Graham,
Elik Collins, and Mike Hall. I do believe Shelby Harris
(51:34):
is a lock. I've got him in green as well,
and I think you're gonna get one of Sam Kamara
or Juwan Briggs. My guess is Briggs being the draft pick,
that he would have the advantage, So that would be
five again on the defensive defensive tackles, five defensive ends,
ten of them. They like to rotate these guys through.
We have consistently had ten defensive linemen on our initial
(51:56):
fifty threes. Now, could he get away with nine, sure,
but my guess is that you will have ten, and
that you have your core of eight, and then you're
gonna get either Cam Thomas or Julian Aquara. You're gonna
get a Sam Kamara, Juwan Briggs at defensive tech. Also
Ralph Holly, Aiden Huntington, and then kJ Henry also could
be in the mix of that defensive end position, Holly
and Huntington. On the inside linebackers, your starters, Carson Swessener,
(52:21):
Devin Bush, Mamoud Diabate, your top backups Jerome Baker, Winston Reid,
and then I think if they go with six, I
think Bookie Watson Nathaniel Watson, the former SEC Defensive Player
of the Year, would be that sixth linebacker. But if
you got again, remember we're looking now for twenty six
over here, because we've got twenty four on offense, twenty
six on defense. And so that means if you've got
(52:43):
ten on the defensive line and you've got six in
the linebacker room, you could only have ten dbs, which
is doable. You could have five corners and you could
have five safeties. Now you could also end up in
a situation where maybe you've got eleven dbs, so that
you'd only have five at the linebacker position, and that'll
come down to special teams, come down a special team.
(53:03):
So that's why I've got Bookie Watson's kind of in
that I've got him as a guy that could be
in your defensive backs. Your corners that I think are
locks are Denzel Ward, Greg Newsom, Cam Mitchell and Chiganouosium.
I think then you could have five or six there.
Tony Brown special teams guy, would be number five, more
of a special teams player than a corner. But then
(53:25):
they love Miles Harden and now all of a sudden
you're at six there. And then in your safety room,
if you're playing three like the Browns do somewhat regularly,
you probably need five there. And you got Ronnie Hickman,
Grant Delpit, Christopher Edmonds I think is in based on
what I've seen and what I've heard. And then Demonte
Kyz seems to be the next one in as a
free safety. So now you've got Nick Needham, who could
(53:46):
maybe fill two roles right if he plays well, veteran
slot corner and safety. You've got Rayshawn Jenkins, who's a
strong safety. In Donovan McMillan as well, Rashon Jenkins, the
veteran that you'd think would make this football team. McMillan
and I think I'll end up on the practice squad.
They like him. Nick Needham, that becomes a question. So
you know, somewhere between Tony Brown, Miles Hard and Nick
(54:07):
Needum Rayshawn Jenkins, you're probably you've got probably four guys
there for three spots, or maybe two spots. I was thinking,
depending on how the linebackers play out, I think your
specials will be Bejorkeez Hopkins and Sunahara. But that's where
so there's still a lot to be decided. And so
(54:28):
when you're saying in these joint practices, you know, like
defensively for example, yes, you care about who's going to
be the starter opposite Miles but at the same time,
like they're gonna all play a ton, So yeah, that's
a competition McGuire, right, and try and Shoyinka sure inside
you know how quickly once my calls out there, does
he move himself up into the top alongside Mason Graham
(54:48):
or is Malik Collins that guy? So that's a little
bit of a battle. I think your linebackers are pretty
well set with Bush, Swestnger and Diabatee, with Swesssnger at
the MIC. I think you're starting corners with Ward newso
Mitchell are pretty set and Hickman Delpit pretty set. But
there's gonna be a lot of competition behind them to
make this roster. And that's kind of ultimately what this
is all going to be about, right, is the competition.
(55:09):
And so when you're talking about joint practices, those are
massive days for these guys. When you're talking about the
preseason games, massive, massive games for these guys, massive for
the corp, massive for a great, great many things. So
(55:32):
you got to pay attention. I mean, I think these
are going to be there. There aren't a ton of
spots open, as I talked about, it's probably like one
spot on offense for or two spots on offense for
maybe like five or six guys, but all at different positions,
you know. And on defense it's probably you know, there's
a spotted defensive end, a spot of defensive tackle, and
then between the linebackers and the dbs there's probably three
(55:56):
or four spots for you know, five or six guys.
And that's really the reality of the situation where where
things stand right now. So as we get more information
and obviously you know quinch On that factors into it.
As we get back to that stuff, well, we'll see
how it ultimately all, uh, it all plays out. But
that's why these preseason games, that's why these joint practices
(56:16):
and the coverage of them are so important. And so
you're gonna have great on News five with obviously with
Chris Rose in the hoff and then on radio with
Siciliano and myself giving you kind of all the insights
that you possibly could need, you know, to be ready
and kind of understand the direction that things go. And
now things obviously change the initial fifty three to the
final fifty three that taken a week one, they typically changed,
(56:38):
but we'll see how it ultimately plays out. There all right,
we're gonna head to the podium now after that kind
of look one week through this at where the things
stand with this roster, we're gonna look for the podium
now presented by Vivid Seats, purchase your official fan Experience
package today for the ultimate game day. Here is the best,
as denoted by Gibbe from d and Jimmy haslm's press conference.
Speaker 12 (56:58):
Well, welcome to camp. We're always excited to have a
new season to get started. We're really excited with our
young players and our new coaching staff, and you can
see the energy around the building. We're all committed to
making this just a tremendous year. So we're glad to
be back at camp, and we're also really excited about
(57:19):
the new Dome Stadium. A lot of progress has been made.
I mean we started out thinking what can we do
for the fans in this community and what can we
do for northeast Ohio and for Cleveland, And I think
the Dome Stadium is a transformational project that will deliver
a world class experience for our fans and also for
(57:39):
our economic growth and conversation on what a great place
this is to live.
Speaker 9 (57:44):
So Jimmy love to.
Speaker 4 (57:46):
Add I think it is exciting when the players are back,
and for those of us are here most of the year,
it's just a much different energy level.
Speaker 9 (57:56):
I think you can tell we're working hard in camp.
It's been hot, which I.
Speaker 4 (57:59):
Think is good because it'll be hot during the season,
and they battled through that well two straight days in
pat So this'll be a good test for him today,
but off to a good start. Certainly hate that Kenny
got a little danged up, but hopefully he'll be back quickly.
And I would echo what d said, really excited about
brook Park, most appreciative of the state of Ohio and
(58:19):
all the work they did. Governor Dwine, Speaker Huffman, President
of the Senate, McCauley, Senate Financial Jerry Sereno all did
a tremendous job in helping make that happen, and we're excited.
I think sometime late this court, late this year, we'll
start moving some dirt. There'll be significant construction starting in
the first quarter, and I think now's the time for
(58:41):
this community to really work together to create a tremendous
situation here in brook Park, as well as along the riverfront,
a re envisioned lakefront and.
Speaker 9 (58:51):
Potentially in almost new airport.
Speaker 4 (58:53):
So lots of exciting things going on here in Cleveland,
and we're happy to be part of it.
Speaker 9 (58:58):
And we'll start with any football questions we all have.
Speaker 8 (59:01):
Jimmy, what in terms of wins? What would be a
successful season?
Speaker 4 (59:06):
Jeff, do you really think we're gonna answer that? You know, listen,
we gotta do better than three, okay to put a
number on it, and I don't think we will ever
do that. Everybody coaches, players, personnel, ownership all knows that
three and fourteen won't cut it.
Speaker 9 (59:21):
We've got to do better. I think we'll know what
better it looks like.
Speaker 13 (59:24):
Do you expect quitch on junkins who eventually sign and play?
Speaker 4 (59:28):
I do, but that's you know, we all understand who
process the law, and the law does not move quickly.
Speaker 9 (59:33):
But yes, we're cautiously optimistic.
Speaker 8 (59:36):
We haven't taught to use Who's the draft? So explain
why the Browns about to draft the sure acting draft
and the quarterback in the utter ground and.
Speaker 2 (59:44):
Adding two back?
Speaker 4 (59:46):
Well, I think that's really more of an Andrew question. Okay,
but I think what was that pick? We thought he
was good value at one forty.
Speaker 14 (59:53):
Six Jimmy and there was has been kind of like
a national or an artive, a person or the shore
pick or maybe he was the people have carn and caring.
Speaker 9 (01:00:04):
What would you say, Yeah, listen, we have good process.
Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
Okay, And.
Speaker 9 (01:00:11):
If you just told me, let's see, we picked him on.
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
Saturday, right Friday night, driving home, you all are gonna
pict sua door, I would say that that's not happening.
But we had a conversation early that morning. Uh, and
then we had a conversation later that day. I think
we had the right people involved in the conversation. At
the end of the day. That's Andrew Berry's call. Andrew
made the call to picture door. Just like who's gonna
start or what play we're gonna call? Is Kevin's call,
(01:00:36):
But that's that's Andrew's call.
Speaker 9 (01:00:37):
He made the call.
Speaker 8 (01:00:38):
You obviously signed out signed off on the trade.
Speaker 9 (01:00:41):
Of which is having drowned or might correct what was?
Speaker 7 (01:00:45):
What?
Speaker 8 (01:00:45):
Was it a tough sell deal or an easy sell?
Speaker 9 (01:00:50):
Those are hard decisions, listen. Travis Hunter is a special.
Speaker 4 (01:00:53):
Football player, and I do think he can play both
ways and I think he'll do well.
Speaker 9 (01:00:57):
He's also a great kid. Not a good but a
great kid. So we were locked in.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
On that, and then the opportunity came up and you
go back three places, and we thought there were really
good players, and we think we got a good one,
that really good one in Mason, and then to add
really almost the first round pick with a thirty six pick,
and to have a number one next year, we just
thought was too good to pass up.
Speaker 9 (01:01:20):
Time will tell whether we did the right thing or not.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
What have you learned about living at teams and teams
that you.
Speaker 9 (01:01:28):
Thing doesn't look like very much now?
Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
I say it's hard, and you know, you make mistakes,
and the business world wi come in.
Speaker 9 (01:01:37):
You can hire any time you want to.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Okay, there's no seasonal there's no draft, and so you
can build a team over a period of time. You know,
almost at free there's no draft, there's no free agency,
there are no controls.
Speaker 9 (01:01:50):
So it's obviously not easy.
Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
You know, we made the decision last year to take
a step back after last year's disaster and looking at
our roster and knowing that we needed a quarterback to
do this over a two or three year period. You know,
it's too early to say, but we like our rookie group.
We'll know a lot more, you know, after we played
two or three exhibition games and young guys get to
(01:02:13):
play a lot.
Speaker 9 (01:02:13):
But we like the group, and particularly if Q can
come back, we life a lot.
Speaker 8 (01:02:17):
Jim Jimmy. Just with four quarterbacks battling it on.
Speaker 15 (01:02:19):
I mean, I know Kenny's hurt now, but it's so
rare to see this many quarterbacks competing for a starting
job on a team. Just how do you think Kevin
and Andrew and everyone has sort of handled.
Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
That in the early fortunate of King really well, And
that was a concern we had, like how do you
make sure everybody gets.
Speaker 9 (01:02:34):
Enough, plays, enough looks, et cetera.
Speaker 4 (01:02:36):
And I hate it for Kenny because he played really
well the two or three days before he got hurt.
And there's nobody that wants to be part of the
team more than Kenny. He's working hard and I know
he'll get back quickly. But I think so far they've
handled it well. And something that Kevin and Andrew talk
about weekly. Here's the plan for this week, and I
think going to Carolina and scrimmaging and then playing, and
(01:02:57):
then we're going to Philly and have two days of
scrimmages and then play. And the young guys will get
a lot of looks, as will the veterans and the scrimmages.
Speaker 9 (01:03:04):
So we'll know a lot more in the next couple
of weeks.
Speaker 13 (01:03:07):
I know you said it's Kevin's decision who played, but
organization league, do you think it's important? Do you talk
about we need to see these rookies in game situation
before you have two first round picks in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
Absolute absolute, So, But I mean that's Kevin is aware
of that. He knows how important quarterback is, and he
and Andrew talk about those.
Speaker 9 (01:03:28):
Kind of things all the time. I mean, it's a daily,
ongoing conversation.
Speaker 6 (01:03:33):
Agains, Yeah, you get your match to cross of them,
and that this is a building process because you know
how loyal.
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
They are and how prest well, listen, we're frustrated too,
and we share the fans pain, okay, and we he
says this right all the time. We're stewards of this
franchise and we need to do a better job and
we want to win for a lot of different reasons.
For the main reason we want to win as far
as fans, they really do.
Speaker 9 (01:03:59):
We have a great fans and.
Speaker 12 (01:04:00):
The mayor of Cleveland has said that he doesn't want
his lake front left without getting anything.
Speaker 8 (01:04:07):
Have you reached on to the mayor?
Speaker 12 (01:04:09):
And yeah, I mean, I mean, I think we started
with the vision of the lakefront a long time ago,
and we believe strongly that the lakefront needs to be developed.
I feel like we have put a lot of input
and energy into what that vision could be. So we
have not had up further conversations recently, but you know,
we care about this community so deeply and I.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Think the lakefront is a really important part of that.
How confident are you that you'll be able to make
the Brook Park project happen?
Speaker 12 (01:04:38):
At this point, We're very confident excited about it.
Speaker 9 (01:04:44):
We can't be more confident.
Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
And let me say, these projects are really hard, okay,
and the state's a hurdle.
Speaker 9 (01:04:49):
You know, there's other hurdles.
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
You got to work with DOT and Rapid Transit, you
got to get your financing, you've got.
Speaker 9 (01:04:55):
To control calls. These are big, complicated projects.
Speaker 4 (01:04:58):
This is either the second or large largest product in
the state of Ohio history. So this is a complicated project.
There's stuff going on. It's three and a half years
till the stadium opens, and we will have to work
hard every day to get.
Speaker 9 (01:05:11):
Everything to come together.
Speaker 7 (01:05:12):
Jimmy and you.
Speaker 13 (01:05:13):
One of the chief points that the opposition to the
work part of.
Speaker 6 (01:05:17):
The project have making was that it would harm downtown Cleveland.
Speaker 16 (01:05:23):
Obviously there's big plans for the riverfront now the lakefront
opening up.
Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
Just from your perspective, how confident are you.
Speaker 13 (01:05:31):
That this region can support all three major developments and
four denities.
Speaker 12 (01:05:38):
Yeah, they're all three very different, and we believe in Cleveland.
We believe in a growth mindset. We believe in economic development,
and we believe that this could be that one of
the greatest communities out there. But you have to have
that vision and you have to have that growth mindset,
and we believe that we can take care of our
fans and provide economic development by doing the Brook Park project.
Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
You're talking about it. Let me just say one more thing.
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Excuse me, I think this think come as four different projects. Okay.
The riverfront project that Bedrock's doing is already underway, right,
and you've got a good, good start with their practice
facility in the clinic facility.
Speaker 9 (01:06:17):
Okay, that's probably a fifteen to twenty year project.
Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
Okay, the lakefront due to the fact that we're going
to be playing there through twenty eight probably, and you
have to get the infrastructure in place. Doesn't start until
twenty nine or thirty, which is, you know, basically five
years from now.
Speaker 9 (01:06:36):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
Our project will start late this fall early next year okay,
and the airport will start about that same time too,
So you'll have going on in brook Park and the
airport that'll happen simultaneously. We're opening twenty nine, they're supposed
to be opening thirty one.
Speaker 9 (01:06:52):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
Bedrock is I don't want to say a thing of
his running marathon will be ongoing for the next fifteen years.
The lakefront will start in five years, so it's not
like all four of them are starting at the same time.
Speaker 12 (01:07:03):
Here.
Speaker 9 (01:07:03):
Again, those are complicated, not easy projects.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
One of the things think about being additive, like, let's
try to add to the pie.
Speaker 9 (01:07:12):
That's what growing successful companies do. Let's try to add
to the pie. And that's what I.
Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
Think we're all trying to do, and hopefully that will
happen if we will work together.
Speaker 12 (01:07:20):
Yeah, we can write a great story for Cleveland that
people from everywhere will look to what what Cleveland's doing
and how exciting it is. With all these projects. So
that's the story that really needs to come out.
Speaker 16 (01:07:33):
This might be a better class word, and you address
this briefly. You know a lot of people, including the
county executives. I shouldn't say a lot of people, some
people including the county executive, are saying Dom's going to
be a flaw. What's your response to that.
Speaker 12 (01:07:48):
You know, we have the really smart people involved in
the process and everybody is very excited about it, and
we're getting calls on people wanting to be part of
the development around it. So do you feel really excited
about It's kind of a front door to Cleveland when
you look at it when you land at the airport,
when you drive in, you're going to be passing by
(01:08:09):
that development in the dome stadium. It's going to be
the only one in Ohio. It's really one of the few,
the few dome stadiums on the East coast. So we're
incredibly optimistic and excited about it. So thanks everybody, We
really appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
All right, those are your owners of the Cleveland Browns
d and Jimmy has some talking about a great many
things from football to the stadium, which I know we
are all very very excited about all right. When we
come back, we're going to go around the league. We
got some questions for me as well that we will
answer about training camp, and then we're going to get
into the mailbag. So get your questions in at Browns
Underscore Daily. Could tweet them directly to me at Nathan Segura,
(01:08:48):
or you can put them in on the YouTube chat
and we will get to those when we return here.
You're listening to Cleve Browns Daily presented by Valley Bet

Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
You're listening to Cleveland Browns Danley on eight fifty ESPN
Cleveland presented by bally Bed sports Book, an official sports
betting partner of your Cleveland Browns. Please bet responsibly.
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Elk and Elk serious lawyers for serious injury. It's called
one eight hundred Elcohio for your free case review. Elk
and Elk is a proud partner of the Cleveland Browns.
We go around the league now. Former Broncos and Seahawks
tight end for a first round pick, Noah Fant signing
a one year deal with the Bengals and so they'll
have Fant with Kasiki. That's they get some real size there,
tight end position, real size. What what happens with Zach Moss?
(01:10:07):
He got cut, I know, but neck injury, I'm sure.
I bet he's just not I bet he's just not healthy.
Chase Brown's their guy, and then they drafted a rookie
as well, correct Noah Fant. By the way, last year
five hundred yards the year before that four fourteen forty six,
six seventy six, seventy three, five sixty two. That's the
guy who's been pretty darn productive, averaging over five hundred
(01:10:29):
yards receiving basically five hundred fifty yards receiving a year
for his career. So he's going to join Mike Gasiki,
who the Bengals made sure that they brought back last year.
Gasiki had sixty five catches for six hundred and sixty
five yards. And so you wonder if this means we're
gonna see maybe more twelve personnel from them as well.
You'll have Chase and you'll have Higgins outside, and then
(01:10:51):
you'll have these two big tight ends. Gasiki sixty six
fans six five two fifty, got some big tight ends.
Big athletic tight end, and that'll be an interesting thing
to see how that shakes out there for the back.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
I mean again, you you might not stop anybody defensively,
but you're a formidable offense.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Oh yeah, they're gonna score. Yeah, they're gonna be very
formidable on offense. They just have the ball. Last is
that probably will be the case. Yeah, and let's not
forget you know, Chase Brown last year was very good
for them. Ran for nine hundred and ninety yards on
the season. He added another three hundred and six yards,
(01:11:32):
receiving thirteen hundred and fifty total yards eleven touchdowns, and
that was really kind of He only became the starter
towards the end of the season if you look at
his game logs from last year. Once he got going
once he really kind of became the guy. And I
would say that really kind of started in Week nine.
He had one, two, three, four, five, six. Six of
(01:11:56):
his last seven games were over one hundred total yards
and he scored a touchdown in one, two, three, four
five of them. So incredibly productive down the stretch. Chase Brown,
They're good. They're a good darn good offense. Chase Brown's
a good player. You'll be great fantasy pick once again.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
I know you're the team of your ute already cut
a cwimonious Saint Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
Yeah, my dad was really excited about that. I guess
that didn't last very long. They did sign Cleveland's own
Andy Isabella. Yeah, slot receiver type, sure, sure, sure.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
And they had worked out our former guy de Ernest
Johnson had to work out there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Yeah, he fits the system, he knows his own game.
I hope they do pick him up. That'd be great
for him. Yeah. Taj Brooks was the draft picked of
the Bengals this year in the sixth round. So they've
got Chase Brown. They brought back some a Gip Ryan
who seems to always be on their team. Receivers Yosha
Vash Jermaine Burton are probably the third receivers. But now
(01:12:59):
you look at Noah Fan in Gasiki, that's a pretty
that's a pretty solid cuble. Yeah, to go with the
two tight end look right there. Cowboys camp yesterday, three
different fights broke out. As punishment rook kid coach Brian
Schttenheimer made the team run wind sprints. Coaches included what
is going on there? I don't know last time I
saw coach and make people run wind sprints like that.
It was not good for their their tenure. Yeah, it
(01:13:25):
was one of our coaches. But it happened here in
joint practices a few years ago, and that guy was
gone very quickly.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
That's right, it is, It is right. I don't like,
what are you doing fighting with each other already? You've
been in camp for a week.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
I don't know. Sometimes you never know what you never
know what people are doing.
Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
It just doesn't make any sense to me. That part
I don't get all right. Otherwise, a relatively quiet day
in advance of tonight's Hall of Fame game. Yeah, so
let's go back to our football squad. Some questions for you,
as we're seven practices into training camp. Who's impressed you
(01:14:10):
the most this far? Give me one on offense, one
on defense.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
On offense, I'll say Harold Fannin has really impressed me
with his disability to get open. He catches everything, he's
good after the catch all of it. I think he's
been incredibly impressive. And defensively, Joe Tryon Shoyinka has looked
very good as like a very nice addition to this
(01:14:35):
football team.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Again, that's a guy that's coming off that rookie contract
and you know kind of approved year. So training camp,
so we had training camp standout. But is there an
under the radar guide that has become on the radar
as a result of his play in.
Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
The last seven practice.
Speaker 8 (01:14:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
And I would also say that, like Carson Schwesinger has
definitely stood out in a very very positive way. I
think that Shador Sanders has stood out and needs to
get more opportunities. But guys kind of under the radar
that have stood out that are competing, you know, trying
to make this football team on offense. You know, the
wide receivers Gauge Larvadan and Luke Floria, I think they
(01:15:20):
have clearly stood out. I think that Julian Aquara has
stood out so far at defensive end. Those are some
people kind of under the radar guys that I think
have looked very good. The one thing that concerns you
the most about this football team offensive line depth still
(01:15:41):
is a concern for me. Once we've gotten down, you know,
into the second and the third team, especially at the
tackle position, it has been rough center he's out, Well, yeah,
that guy's out, he's gone. And Bucky Williams is in,
so that still is a big concern to me. You know,
do we have enough playmakers at wide receiver is a concern.
The cornerback room now with losing mj Emerson is definitely
(01:16:04):
a concern of mine. And then you know, how's this
quarterback situation shakeout? That's that's probably the biggest thing that's
got to happen right now.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
All right, all right, So I mean that's I mean,
we talk training camp, Darling, I think you've kind of
named him.
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
They're the under the radar guys. Yeah, Floria engaged Larva
Dan especially at receiver. Those are guys that you know,
you're hoping to have a big, a big preseason and
Floria a local kid like it's a cool story.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Defensive line obviously seems to be the strongest position on
this football team. What's number two?
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
D line would be? Yeah, is definitely number one. I
think probably number two could be. I mean, once Judkins
gets in here, I think I'll feel really good about
our running back room with Judkins, Ford and Samson because
I like Samson a lot Ford looks very good. I
think the tight end room is very good with Najoku
and Fannin as your top two. I like Whiteheart. I
(01:17:06):
like Blake Whiteheart as well, and I think kind of
I think the safety room might actually end up being
pretty deep with Hickman, Delpit, CAZy, Edmunds, Needum Ray, Sean Jenkins,
Don McMillan. I think you've got that's like a pretty
darn good room, na would. Yeah. I gotta keep them healthy.
You gotta keep them healthy, for sure, for sure. All right,
when we come back, we're gonna get in the mail bag.
(01:17:28):
So we've got some questions I've seen already and I'm
sure there are more on the YouTube, so you can
get those questions in right now. It is a mail
bag Thursday, so we're gonna take this all the way up.

Speaker 3 (01:18:29):
It's that time at Brown's Underscore daily on X The
j Man is monitoring YouTube all right, YouTube dot com
slash Browns on our show feed. It's a pretty quiet
day on the on their front day.
Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
It's not a day on players are in the building
for meetings.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Let's go, Yeah, get your stuff together. Not you guys,
I'm talking about the fans read at work. Have you
guys ever been to Key West? Head of there tomorrow
from the adult trip with friends? Any recommendations, I'm more
I went Key Largo and uh, further up the Keys.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Awesome. I have not been to kind of feels like
you're in the Bahamas a little bit. It's very kind
of Uh, you'll love it. There's good food, great bars.
Just go have a good time. Whatever kind of it
looks amazing. I would like nothing more than to go
there and thrive. Yeah, it's you'll have a great time
in Key West. Big fan of Key West, always positive.
(01:19:39):
Jay chimes in hogs Breast Saloon and Sunset Peer. That
place is good. There's also a good.
Speaker 9 (01:19:46):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Let me think if I can find it. I'll try
to find tacos not really like right on the beach. Oh,
Amigo's Tortilla Bar. Yeah, that place is solid. They have
like cool tacos. That's they invented in there, they say
they they claim to have invented the the square taco.
(01:20:06):
I wonder if they still have those now. Those don't
look square, but make square taco. Yeah, like the shell
was this is it? But this is I guess that's
not what it's called anymore, or they don't be free anymore.
The like shell was actually a square and the way
you folded it just whatever, whatever they did, it worked.
It was good. Yeah, but that was it. I think
Amigo's Tortilla Bar because I have I have a a
(01:20:28):
shirt from there.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Joe tweets at the show Zee, what's worse your first
hole in one but no witnesses or your first hole
in one? But it's not a short part three course,
I would say nothing's bad.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Not you have of those. I mean, having no witnesses
is tough because you don't have anybody corroborated or confirmed
that it actually did happen. So it's just your word.
You know, you got it? Though, I've got two hole
in ones. Neither of you yeah, I got two. I
didn't know it. The last one actually is on video
at Walden. It was like Father's Day a few years ago,
(01:21:02):
five years ago in fact, and Kayla and the kids
were there and she took it was on video. I
got it was number two at Walden. My cousin Danny,
who was in town this past weekend and played with him,
and he's he's got seven. Excuse me, I know. And
then we were playing with another guy who's been like
a scratch and was like a pro and he doesn't
(01:21:25):
have any that's crazy. Seven. Yeah, I'm like knockings from
the fairway, like from one hundred and fifty or you know,
one hundred plus yards, but only two hold ones. One
was down in Atlanta back when I was like in college,
and then and then this one. That's insane. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
Uh, Lance tweets at the show. Traveling from Portland for
the week two game in Baltimore, flying into d C.
Staying between d C and Baltimore. Can I get a
couple recks for food and stuff to do? First time
in the area. Yeah, love history, hate seafood.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
I mean, if you love history, you definitely have to
go spend a lot of time in DC, go to
the Capitol buildings. Ye see, if you get your local
congress person to give you a tour, do that. If
you want to go ahead, and I mean there's so
many museums, Smithsonians, all the DC is awesome. DC is
an awesome, awesome town. Then you know, I think go
(01:22:25):
down if the games, the game in Baltimore, go down
into Baltimore. And you know we love a zoomie. That's sushi,
so it's not I mean, I guess that's a lot
of seafood, doesn't have to be. And then what's the
where do we go out? Give a the horseshoe came
in on saloon that place, But what's that area the
(01:22:47):
inner harbor, inner harbors where the food is? But then
we go out on that spot Federal Hill, Federal Hill, Yeah,
go out to Federal Hill. Don't bring if you get
pizza plate pizza at one place, don't bring it into
another pizza place or do so. Oh, I don't think
(01:23:07):
you want to do that. That guy was no joke.
I was ready. You were not ready. I had tattoos
up his neck and you were not ready. Nor should
you have been not ready? I had pizza from both Yep,
it was a rifle.
Speaker 3 (01:23:24):
I needed it. H Schneider. How's the Chief looked in camp?
Haven't heard much about him?
Speaker 9 (01:23:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Chief looks great. You know, I think there he's one
of the guys that they're being a little you know,
judicious with when you talk about you know, David Njoku
and Miles and Denzel and Joel Buttonio, you know the
guys that have been the Pro Bowlers and the the
guys that have been here that have done that. Yeah,
I think that is I am expecting a big year
(01:23:55):
for him.
Speaker 6 (01:23:57):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
I got two of these back to back literally from
Michael DeVore and Pete Aleria. How does the kicking game
look this training camp? If games are close, big part
of the game this year will be crucial, Pete and Aleria.
Why isn't Hopkins kicking your practice as he injured?
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Thanks? So he has kicked. I've seen him kick. Haven't
you seen him kick? Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:24:18):
Yeah, I think it's like your quarterback. You you don't
want the guy having forty reps a day.
Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
Right, you just I do think it is important that
he is back and playing at a high level because
that is going to be massive for this football team.
I mean we are going to be a team that
plays great defense, that can run the football, that you know,
(01:24:45):
takes advantage of opportunities on offense, but also takes care
of the football. It's going to come down to some kicks.
I mean, we're gonna win a lot of games. Yes,
they are going to come down to some kicks. So
hopefully that will be that'll be rolling Bejork has his
every franchise record. He's been a great punter. Soon a
(01:25:05):
horror filed the very nicely for Charlie Hula, who will
get to see when we're in Philadelphia. Yeah, I would
anticipate in some situational work yep.
Speaker 15 (01:25:14):
To clarify that question, guys, I know that on our
morning show, on the Really Big Show, they've talked about
how he has kicked, but they're also saying that he
hasn't kicked in like live reps. So everybody's asking for
like live reps. And I don't know if you guys
can touch on why or how that kind of gets
all structured in training camp.
Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
No, I just know that, like for example, yesterday did
when where they ran them on and and then he
went and he just simulated kicking it. So yeah, that's
obviously happened, but I do he's I've seen him kick
plenty and he leg looks seems to look good.
Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
Tommy clac Oh, if you could teach a college course
on anything, what would it be?
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
So I did do one time, like as a guest
professor on Fantasy Football, so that I would I would
be good at that. I would. I would teach college
course on Caddy Shack, the movie The Making of the
Whole Experience. I would teach a college course similarly on
Last Mohicans. I would teach a college course on like
amateur chefing and wine and all of that. I'd be
(01:26:15):
happy to do that. That'd be fun.
Speaker 12 (01:26:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
This was from our YouTube channel.
Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Can CBD get a closer look on t o A
toua toaa?
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Have we gotten a closer look at him? It says,
can we? I'm assuming they mean, you know, I think
I think you listen. I do think you will see
him certainly in the preseason, so yeah, you'll get a
look at him. North South runner very tough. I can
tell you that we got a little bit of a
scouting report because remember he was in the ufl our
(01:26:51):
Former coach Greg Williams, his son, Blake Williams and other
former coach of ours coach in that league. I'm pretty
sure we're on. They won, their team won the championship,
he said, Browns fans. It pains me to say it,
but he was a good player this year. Little bowling
ball that knows the red of the play. If the
Browns are going back to duo pinpool inside zone powerfootball
(01:27:12):
behind their cellar interior, he's hard to tackle for less
than forty yards. So kind of like maybe what Kareem
Hunt was like, you know, not that long ago for
the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
Richie Fox, did you guys know that your absolute legends
and should be proud.
Speaker 2 (01:27:29):
Of all the work you put ned show in the community.
Thank you, brother, love you need.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
I have one other one that I saw and love
a dog today. How would you compose your perfect fruit
salad slash bowl?
Speaker 6 (01:27:46):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
Rando, I know, but I mean to me, the number
one ranked fruit is pineapple, So there'd have to be
a lot of pineapple in there period now and then
like a really good kiwi, like a good kiwi, great strawberry. Sure, watermelon,
of course, but I would be more concerned with pineapple,
(01:28:08):
Like when I go in there and I end up
getting like out of the fruit salad. It's heavy on pineapple.
It's gotta be otherwise if it's and if there's no pineapple,
I don't get it. I understand. Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
That's yeah, I don't. I've grown to like the cantalope
of the world. I like it's gotta be ripe. Yeah,
if there's no juice, not interested.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
I enjoy very much. I enjoy cantelope, and I think
canilopes at its best when it's got a little preshudo
wrapped around it, prosudo and melon, as they do in Italy,
then it's quite good. All right.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
Yeah, I wish I would have known. I don't think
I had that when I was over there. No, I
don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
Oh man. Yeah, that's usually proscudo email alone. That's usually
on quite a great many things. Yeah. All right. That's
today's and this week's edition of the Mail. Big All right, there,
it is so much more, so much more to come.

couple more questions.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
Okay, here f a reminder for everybody. We are back
outside tomorrow practice at two o'clock. Only three practices left
for the public. Two o'clock on Friday, nine to thirty
am on Saturday, and two o'clock on Monday. We'll be
outside for Friday and Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
Yeah. Yes, we went off to Carolina. By the way.
Shout out to Matt. Wazowski said, Norfolk is on the
chest Peak has a huge naval bases, right, Ronokes in
the mountains, And I was right, Ronoke is where Deonta
Foreman went and that'll be in the mountains where Wyatt
is going to be. Yeah, thank you for that clarification. Yes,
I thought Rooke was No, it's Norfolk. Norfolk's were that
(01:30:31):
navy that Yeah, we crushing it today. Hey, this one
from Bobby, ninth grade math teacher, mister Seussi's telling me
the best color combo for a football team would be
baby blue and brown. Back to day I put it
and created a team on madd in two thousand and four.
He wasn't wrong. We talked about my baby blue. That'd
be a lot of fun. That's not serious. Those are
not scores. Do not even pretend. Don't even pretend. All right,
(01:30:53):
the next level is next. The Browns will be back
in pads at practice tomorrow to two o'clock, are right,
gibbe yes, sir, two o'clocker, And then early on Saturday,
nine thirty in the morning, one more time. So baseball
trade deadlines out there, I know a lot of people
Shane Bieber already on the move, a lot of people
waiting to see what will happen with Stephen Kwan. Sounds
(01:31:16):
like he is going to be on the move as well.
It's just a matter of where they'll have full coverage
for you that on the next level, which is next here.
Thanks for listening to Clean Browns Daily on eight fifty
