Speaker 1 (00:02):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys, Let's go. Are you ready for a break?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Are you ready for a break?

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Ready for a break? Yeah, and so much for that.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's time for the Break on Dallas Cowboys dot Com.
Were on with Mbar Garcia, Brian brought Us, Votch Lombardi
and Derek Eagleton.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
It is Friday, October seventeenth, twenty twenty five season episode,
season twenty one, episode number sixty. Welcome to the latest
edition of The Break. We are a lot from that
WBC Morgan Studios at the Star, presented by LG. LG
is the world's number one OLED TV brand for elevenies
accounting See why at LG dot Com. Forward slash O
led Evo. All right, today we get ready for Cowboys
Versus Commanders. We'll tell you what we think going to happen.

(01:00):
By the end of the show, we will get some
predictions from these guys of what will take place on
Sunday at at and T Stadium. Let's start first with
some injury updates. Looking at first the Cowboys Cede Lamb,
it sounds like he's ready to go sounds like everything
we're hearing, both from the coach and from CD says
he's going to play this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I was, I thought about this most Cowboys social media
and watch the video of.

Speaker 6 (01:29):
Yeah go to so.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Almost Cowboys and watch the video of Ceedee Lamb that
we put out from practice, and see how well that
guy is moving like he he looks like nothing happened.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Hopefully that means that by Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
I better see a new follower there when I go
back to my work, I better see a new following.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
The Yeah exactly, that's your new Spanish.

Speaker 7 (02:01):
Yeah. I mean, you know, I just this guy. She's
saying the words fan.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Go follow right now, everybody, everybody listening to go follow Cowboys?

Speaker 7 (02:10):
All right? Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
No, I was. I was thinking about Ceedee Lamb and
really thinking about what George Pickens has been for this
team since he was gone. I do remember, I think
it was you watched that was talking at the time
when CD went out. You were talking about how CD's
role was not necessarily going to be George Pickens' role
because of the different things they did. Now, what we've
seen over the last two weeks is some of those

(02:31):
things they've actually started doing a little bit with with
George Pickens. My question for you guys is how much
was the absence of Ceedee Lamb a really good growth
opportunity for Pickens and for this offense. And how do
you think they merged back together now that that CD
is back. Will they have George doing more things than
maybe what he was doing before, which can help the offense.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
If there's a you know, like a thing that floats
around about Dagg is that he likes for guys to
flash open, like to be wide all the way open.
You know, he throws to the open guy, so to speak.
George Pickens wasn't always kind of that guy. You know,
he's not the best route running the world and he's
not particularly quick in that way. But what Pickens is
really good at is even if you're on him, he
can catch those passes. You know, you saw a crossing

(03:15):
route J C. Horns like right on him. He was
able to snatch the ball right right over the top
of him there. But DAK typically doesn't throw to those guys.
So what I think DAK needed was time with Pickens
and time and understanding that hey, even if like what
does Pickens open look like, which is different than maybe
turping open, which is different than maybe Lamb open. I
think Dak has a really good idea about what Pickens

(03:36):
open looks like. And I think one thing that we've
kind of figured out about Pickens is that he's more
of a yat guy than Pittsburgh kind of let us,
you know, led us to believe in that film. So
I think Dak has a really good feel for how
to use Pickings now and what to do. So now
when Lamb comes back, you just keep doing the Lamb
stuff that you do, and Pickens he added deep crosses
to the party, he added some motion to the party,

(03:56):
he added slot to the party. It's just that ceedee
Lamb does. He does those things much better. He's much
more seasoned in the system doing those things. So keep
Lamb doing it. But you can still find ways to
make pigs you know, good, too useful.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
To Yeah, I'm excited to see them both together, But
I'm here's the thing that causes me pause in a
way because you go back to when Brandan Cooks was here,
a different coaching staff, and yeah, but going back to that,
because we can only go back to what was in

(04:28):
the past, right, as a reference. During that time, there
were many many times where you would have Brandan Cooks
and City Lamb in a game, but then all of
a sudden, Brandon Cooks wasn't producing enough, he wasn't getting
enough balls thrown at him, or when he did, it
wasn't a successful one, he wouldn't catch it, so you

(04:48):
just never really got going. I have a very faint
memory of a game where both receivers were actually really good,
So I'm just very curious how it changes. I hope
this going back to what you just said, Yes, the
confidence is in there between Dak and Pickens. I just
hope that now with the addition of CD back into

(05:10):
the mix, there is a really good balance between the
both of them, and that all of a sudden we
don't see Pickens or even Lamb disappear in the game.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Well, can I say some real quick bind before you
jump in a question for Amber? Do you need to
see balance every game? Because I look at it and
I'm like, I don't know that I necessarily need five catches.
Five catches, you know, seventy yards eighty yards, Like, I
don't need to see balance every game. I need to
see a functioning offense. So there may be a game
whell let's say, for example, CD is they're really paying

(05:41):
a lot of attention to CD, and I want Pickings
just have a day. And it might go the other
way another week where they're really playing Picks a lot
of attention and I want CD to have a day.
So so what do you say. I want to be
clear on kind of what you're saying in the balance
from a balance.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Tad, And I'm fine with the way you described it, obviously,
but I mean in reference to let's say, when all
of a sudden a pass wasn't successful and you look
back at tape and film and you see, oh, Brandon
Cooks was open, wide open, Why wasn't the ball thrown over?
So he's more of being aware of both receivers don't

(06:15):
disappear exactly. Ran he disappeared many times, and many times
you saw him open and you're like, well, throw him
the ball, incorporate him a lot more into the play
calling and the and the places that you're running. So
it's more of that what I was trying to refer to. Yes, obviously,
there's always gonna be one that stands out more than
the other. That's the nature of the game. But I

(06:36):
just wanted to make sure, like, hey, if all of
a sudden, you're throwing at CD and let's say he
didn't catch the ball for whatever reason, and then you
keep seeing Pickens open, that that's not the case.

Speaker 8 (06:48):
Shody unlocked Georgia. George Pickens is what he did.

Speaker 7 (06:53):
That's what he's done.

Speaker 8 (06:54):
He's he's created an opportunity for him to be the guy.
You know, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh was isn't the perfect place for
George Pickens. George Pickens with the quarterback play not very good.
Play call are not very good. You know, they've he's
come here and the quarterback has done a great job
with him, you know, finding ways to get him the ball.

(07:14):
You want to know the guy that benefited from all
this the most though, it's Ryan Flinoy. That's the one.
This If you look at bigger picture of the ceed
Lamb stuff and you want to talk about Pickens and
stuff going forward, great, I mean that that guy I
think was always there, that George Pickens was always there.
We saw him at Georgia for sure. But I think
what you've done is you've you've taken a receiver that

(07:37):
that people probably had a little hope in and kind
of elevated. And I think that's what this injury's done.
It's put Ryan Flanoy in a position now to where,
if you do move on from George Pickens, that you
have to feel a lot better about where Ryan Flinoy
is in this offense.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Looking at the some injuries for the Washington Commanders, there
are three injuries that really jump out. Tim Lauren did
not practice yesterday. Deebo Samuels did not practice. Deebo Samuel
did not practice yesterday. Dorris Armstrong did not practice yesterday.
Of those three, which do you think would be a
bigger loss for Washington if they can't play on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
For the Cowboys, I think that your offense would be
fine regardless. I think your defense kind of having issues.
Any help those guys can get is massive, humungous now
knowing us boy Luke mccaffre gonna go out there again,
nine catches, one hundred and fifty seven yards and three,
that's just what it's been. But when Terry was gone,
like Deebo was the most targeted guy. But you know,

(08:36):
you still have to worry about you know, Zach Ertz
and all those other guys, but both those wide receivers
being gone is massive. I had a feel that even
if Dawrence played, I feel like Terrence and Tyler Guidon
would be fine because I don't look at Dorins as
a TJ. White type character. Dawns is very productive in
their defense. He's been getting the sacks over there, prescious
over there. Shouts out to him, but I just don't

(08:57):
see him as some imposing force that we have to,
you know, hey, running back, go help over there with
with Darren's Armstrong. I just don't see him, you know,
see him in that way White. But any help you
can get offensively, if Jade and Daniels has confidence in
a guy and they lose that guy, any small thing
will help you. Remember, we are one stop away from
winning two games. Maybe that's worth one stop maybe two.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
Yeah, I initially thought that maybe the Armstrong would be
the biggest one, but Dallas, even not running the ball
very well last week, proved that they could pass protect
and that's something they've kind of been able to do. Yeah,
they have pressures here and there, but overall though that
this this this group has been done a nice job.
So lose even if Armstrong played, I think Dallas would
be okay in this game, but you start to take

(09:41):
away the weapons from the commanders, and then Cliff Kingsbury
the way that he's gonna call this game, and Botch
is right. They always say next man up, and then
whoever plays the Cowboys next man up is the FedEx
Aaron Ground player of the Week the week. So yeah,
take away as many of those wide receivers as you can.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
For me, what's crazy right now, how I currently feel
is like I don't care who plays on either side
of the ball.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
I feel like whoever is playing.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Defense against the Dallas offense, I feel like the Cowboys
have enough weapons to be able to deal with and
really compete. I feel very confident about that. But I'm
the same talking on the other hand, it don't matter matter,
It don't matter who plays on the defense. I guess

(10:34):
I mean who plays on offense against the Cowboys defense,
because I really feel like, whoever it is, it's still
gonna be a problem. So to answer your question, it
doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Okay, So that being said, let's assume you mentioned Luke McCaffrey.
Let's let's assume both these guys are out. I do
want to mention both of them. I just saw some
footage both of them being out at practice and they
won't know how much stale practice. Will see their injury
report later, but both the right practice day. But let's
assume both they're out. Who's the next guy or next
two guys for the Washington offense in as far as

(11:07):
the passing game is concerned that you'd be most concerned
about us coming in Monday morning saying, yeah, this guy
had a day.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Luke and zach Ertz probably you know, probably more probably
more zach Ers you know, once and if the Washington
football wiz decide we're going to run the ball we
get to the red zone, zach Ertz is really good
in the red zone for them, so.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
He'll be the the more dangerous guy. But uh Ambar
said it perfectly.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
This this Wandelle Robinson dropped one hundred and thirty six
jars and two touches down on these people.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
You know, yeah, I kind of feel like though they
could they could run the ball. You know, the talk
is to go ahead and try and run the ball
and then if you get down in the red zone.
Both the guys that that vach mentioned, you know, with
McCaffrey and then zach Ertz. I think zach Ertz, you know,
four catches down in the red zone, three touchdowns. I mean,
that's that's just kind of shows you the same thing

(11:54):
with McCaffrey. They they they their offense. Yes, it would be,
it would be, it would be hurt not having both guys,
but no, it would just make them even more committed
to trying to run the football and just and just
mash Dallas up front if they can.

Speaker 2 (12:10):

Let's go, all.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
Right, let's do it.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
So, since earlier this week Vouch kept talking about therapy
sessions and all that, I decided to come up with
a segment where we're just gonna talk about our feelings.
Let's talk about our feelings and we you know, sometimes
the best thing to do for you to feel better
is to let it out.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
All right. Let me let me put a disclaimer out there.
As we start to talk about feelings. We are on
live internet radio, whatever you want to call it, remember
that as you're sharing your feelings, all feelings don't necessarily
because you need to become public. All right, We got that,
were good? Everybody good? Okay, go all right, it's not
that serious. We do not have a dump button, so

(16:59):
just be thoughtful, all right.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
So basically, I'm just gonna give you an emotion and
I want you to tell me something that made you
feel that.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Okay, Okay, related Cowboy's related.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
Yeah, as far as the season goes and this year,
so you can go back even into the off season.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
Hard.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
I Don'm not good with feelings.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
It's all right, all right, cautiously optimistic. What is something
that makes you feel cautiously optimistic optimistic about this team?

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Shoddy? Shoddy? Since he's gotten on the job, has I
think there's a certain level of optimism I have that
he is the right coach and he will eventually figure
it out, if that happens this year or not, but
he gives me confidence that they'll that they'll get somewhere
with him.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Cautiously optimistic that this Dallas I mean that this a
Dak thing is not a fluke. I think quarterbacks typically
get better the older the older they get. These guys
normally show up around their thirties and they are much
better than they than they always was. And you know,
and Beak was always up there as a as a quarterback.
You know, he was always you know, top offense type
of guy. But there's always this threat of the offense

(18:12):
to go to poop who at the end of the season.
Uh So, Dak being an older man, Dak having a
quarterback that's not named Mike McCarthy that will get in
his way, Mike McCarthy, I feel really good. I'm just
gonna piggyback off Derek's coaching situation. I think that Dak'
I don't see him going backwards, and I feel really
optimistic about that moving forward.

Speaker 8 (18:32):
I'm cautiously optimistic that this defensive line coach will figure
something out.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
You're dreaming, all right, tell us why, Brian.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
And you know, this guy has a history of working
with teams and and kind of like once he understands
who he's got and how to use guys. I don't
think this defensive line is as bad. I really really don't.
I think there's something though, and I don't know what
it is. Them back and I and I'm you know,

(19:02):
it could be talent, it could be. But to me,
I watched this group in training camp. Get after your
offensive line, create pass rush, you know, play the run.
I am cautiously optimistic that something is going to change here.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Maybe they need a game where.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
The commanders you know there are just you know, they're
they're they're hurt at receiver. They're going to try and
run the ball, and Dallas has a game where all
of a sudden they figure out how to play run
defense that all of a sudden, everything that they're coaching
the fits, everything is working, that guys aren't jumping out
of gaps and stuff like that. I'm just cautiously optimistic

(19:42):
that they're going to have one of those games and
it's going to set them in motion going forward.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
You know what's interesting about that, Brian, if you start
going through that defensive line, man for man, you actually
got talented guys. That's why none of this really makes
sense to me, is because you would be like, yeah,
I'll take that guy. Yeah, I'll take that guy. Y'all
take that guy. But you put them all together and
it's like, what's happening.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
It's dudes, I've never heard of getting pressure for the team,
and I'm man, we're at with this?

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Yeah, it just it's it's it really is weird. It's
weird that they are that it's not producing the level
of results that are consistent with the players that you
think you have.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Well, I amious cautiously optimistic about the young linebackers, and
I think it might happen a little one too late.
Shamar James, we talk about Mary's your vow. I think
over shown you still consider him young. So yeah, those

(20:42):
three I'm excited about their future. Is just might not
necessarily happen this year, but maybe towards the end of
the season, we start seeing something more cohesive there, okay,
something that made you fin Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
When we get to the to the draft season and
me and Brian bro is breaking down draft, does Shamara
James and Mary's LeFou keep you from drafting one of
those great linebacks in that draft?

Speaker 5 (21:12):
If you're talking about there there's someone that looks really.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Really, Are those guys keeping you from drafting like a
first round linebacker?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
I don't think so. But also they're not even keeping
me from doing something in free agency with a veteran
I need a veteran guy with more experience.

Speaker 7 (21:29):
Here you spitting now, give me one.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
To be honest with you, and I'll say this, like
other than other than other than cornerback. And if you
decide to keep pickings receiver, I don't look at another
position where I'm like, I have a player that makes
me say, if I see a really great opportunity in
the draft, I wouldn't take them quarterback. I'm good where
I am right now for now. You got to start
thinking about the future at some point, but for now,

(21:52):
I think he's in his prime. You keep rolling with him.
The receiver. If you re signed pickings, then you probably say,
and we're not gonna worry about that.

Speaker 7 (21:59):
Every other position got Offensiveave with this, with this, with
this place beat down.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
If they draft man, Look, there's no position that's off
He'll talk about it.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
I'll talk about there is.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
No position that's off limits in my opinion, other than
those two.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Potential All right, something that triggers you. What is triggering
about this season or who triggers you?

Speaker 4 (22:20):
When I see how fantastic Schoenheimer's doing in his first year,
I get real mad about them three years.

Speaker 7 (22:26):
That might I had in the past.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Run enough field and turn around no, no, no, no. I
smile so much because it's like the answers were there
the whole time. They were there the whole time, and
I don't want people to think I'm just making up numbers.
It was like per pff, I think the Cowboys completed
hitches at like eighty five percent, just running a field
three yards and turn around hitches and slants, slants and flats,

(22:50):
dragon concepts.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
Eighty to ninety percent of the time. That was your offense.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
And when we see linebackers kind of floating around because
they know they know you're not gonna throw the ball
deep had to throw the ball in that nonsense, and
he completed it, and it was a new stat that
came out and everybody was so impressed. Oh, Dak Prescott's
the best quarterback completing tight window throws. That sounds fantastic,
But what that means your offense ain't making no damn separation.
Then out of nowhere Mia McArthur working for Pat McAfee

(23:17):
now whatever he doing, and Brian Schottenhire who was in
the building, who is offense coordinator, they say, you know what,
I want CD Lamb to run that way? How want
can I te Turpin who couldn't get going? I want
Turping to run that way? Or as Miya McCarthy. All
you had to do was hire somebody that specializes in

(23:40):
run game.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
We'll come in here.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Hey, Mayam macarthy man, what's your thinking? I remember here
was that Maya macarthy, what do you think about the
run game?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Man?

Speaker 7 (23:45):
He'd be like, Oh, well, you know, we got the
got the guys that can fix it. You know we
got we're gonna work hard at it. We're gonna figure this,
We're gonna do you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
And all you had to do was hire an expert
outside the building that would love an opportunity claim.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
Now, who got skins on the wall is a run
down guy?

Speaker 4 (24:03):
You mean to tell me seven weeks in Brian Scheinehimen
just walk in and all those problems just go away.
I'm frustrated that the past. I'm triggered that the past.
I'll even say two years, because you remember that one
season where the first six weeks looked real ridiculous and
see the land was like, yo, Mike, something gotta happen,
and it looked real good the rest of the season.

(24:25):
Then they went right back to what Mike wanted to
do and it looked weird. And as soon as Mike goes,
we fly. I'm frustrated that two years of Dak Prescott's
prime was wasted throwing hitches and slams. That triggered the
hell out of me when I see Shotenheimen just going
crazy up here with Ryan Damn floor noid flow shouts
out the flow, shouts out of the flow.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Can I can I throw something in? Real quick talk
about getting triggered. There was just some breaking news, breaking news,
breaking news. What they say from the shoddy press conference,
what he said, Trayvon Digs is out for this game
after slipping at his house and hitting his head and
he has a concussion. Oh wow, so let's uh, let's

(25:08):
talk about it. What do you think happens like at
this point now with the defense that's been kind of
reeling a bit. Now you're without one of your starting cornerbacks.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
He don't want to be here.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
What happens?

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Let me say, because I'm doing because I'm doing Cowboy Radio,
it looks like him. It's it feels like he don't
care about this stuff, you know, I mean, but it
feels like and maybe that's unfair to him.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
That I think this. I mean, obviously we don't know.
I don't know the circumstances obviously of how this all
went down at his house.

Speaker 7 (25:36):
But always sounds like something though, don't it.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
But yeah, this could be an accident, Like I don't
I don't want to get too far into like sure
projected it. But but the fact but the fact is,
the fact is the reality is right now he ain't playing,
he ain't playing concussion.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
No, maybe maybe I'm being unfair, but it sounds like
there's always something going on.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
What's happened?

Speaker 8 (25:57):
This might be the football gods taking care of It's
Washington's not gonna play it there.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Guys, you don't get you don't get your guy either.

Speaker 8 (26:03):
Football guys are making this an even fight.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Kayln Carson, you have an opportunity, sir, Yeah, Kayal and Carson,
you've got an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
What did y'all see from Kaylen Carson during change? Well,
I mean, like before he got hurt, did you see
any anything went a.

Speaker 8 (26:17):
Very confident place. He was running around with much better
player at wake for him than he was here. And
I think they I think he was nicked up. And yeah,
they're gonna need it's probably going to be you know,
you're gonna it's gonna be elam, it's gonna be bland,
and it's gonna be uh Stewart in the slot. And
then you know, with the others you'll just try and
kind of mix and match and see how you can
get it, get it taken, how you get it covered there.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yeah, all right, that's tough. We's all right. That was
a quick break from that. But Brian, go ahead, what's
your What triggers you?

Speaker 8 (26:48):
The thing that really triggers me is I worked in
this organization, either in the front office or with dot Com,
and I appreciate every minute I've been here. What really
really triggers me is the fact that folks out there
think that this training staff isn't any good at their job.
It's not their fault that they've had these injuries and
stuff like that. Guys get rolled up on. They always

(27:08):
talked about this training staff does this, This training staff
does that. I know those guys over there, I know them.
They're working super hard to make sure that these players
get back out onto the field. But everybody wants to
take a shot that this is one of the worst
training staffs in the league I've been. I've been around
several teams they're worst training staffs than what this one is.

(27:28):
You guys don't know this training staff like I do.
And what really triggers me is when people want to
blame them for the health of your football team. They
can't help it. If guys get rolled up on, they
can't help it. If guys fall at their home and
hit their heads and can't play games, that's not their fault.
So that's the thing that triggers me the most. I

(27:49):
just think that if folks really took the time and
looked at all these injuries and looked at these players
and how these players respect the guys and gals that
are working on them right now, they would think there
would be a lot differ different. So you know, keep
that in mind next time you want to take a
run at one of these guys your gals.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
What I would say triggers me is really last week
triggered me. And the reason why last week triggered me
is because I thought you said it very well, Votch.
They basically allowed Bryce Young to not have to beat them.
I look at a game like that and I'm like,
there's no way I don't care what defensive scheme I run.

(28:26):
There's no way I wasn't going to adapt it last
week to say, I am pulling all my guys up
to the line of scrimmage and I am going to
stop the run and I'm gonna liit's the hell out
of Bryce Young, and I'm gonna make him make quick decisions,
get the ball out quick, and I'm going to trust
these twenty million dollar cornerbacks. I have to be able

(28:46):
to break up passes, to be able to intercept passes.
I'm going to force him to beat me. And if
he can beat me, I will tip my cap and
say you beat me. But there's that triggered me because
I felt like it was I'll go back to back, Brian,
you'll remember this. I want to I want to say
this two thousand and six, five somewhere in there, whenever
Dope Parcells got here as far as the freshman that

(29:08):
year they got.

Speaker 8 (29:09):
To the three.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
But what was what was the year that they played
Seattle in the playoffs? Was that five? When they played
them in the playoffs? That was five? It was five? Yeah,
and it was it was a situation where they went
into that game and literally that week Seattle was pulling
guys off the street to play cornerback. They were pulling
guys off street. The Cowboys had Terrell Owens and Terry
Glenn and I'm the whole week, I'm like, oh wow,

(29:35):
they about to light this secondary up. And they went
into that game and they ran the ball and they
ran the ball, and they never really tick took shots.
They never really challenged that secondary. And I was like
that to me, was just like I and I know
coaches look at things very differently, and coaches obviously know
a lot more than I do. Sitting here behind a microphone.
But it's so frustrating and so triggering when you're when

(29:57):
you're looking at and you're like, this team is begging
you to do this to them, and coaches just don't.
They just don't force them to be good in the
areas where they're not very good, and and that that
triggers me. And I think last week was a good
example of that. That that was a situation where I
think they had a lost opportunity. They could have really

(30:17):
really slowed down the run game and forced that quarterback
to beat him, and I don't think they put him
in that position.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
All right, Well, I had ten words, we only got
through two of them.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Get sidetracked.

Speaker 5 (30:31):
I mean, we take a lot more trouble than I anticipated.
So we might have to book another therapy.

Speaker 6 (30:37):
Session down the road. Yeah, yeah, you let it off
for sure.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
I'm coming out of this therapy session. I don't know
about John. I don't feel not wrong though, No, you're
not wrong, You're wrong. All right, Well, give us one more.

Speaker 6 (30:50):
Well, let's end on a positive note. Boy.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
You know, there's always this toxic relationship when it comes
to the cow Boys and where you're like, oh, I'm
done with this and.

Speaker 6 (31:03):
Then you're back at it again.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
So what was a moment that made you quote unquote
feel in love again that you fell in love again
with what the team is doing? Uh, that made you
kind of buy into it.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
Let me tell you something this this when when you
have an elite quarterback, you know you've changed the fortunes
of your franchise. The Washington Football Whizas was a prime
example of this. They were a terrible franchise for a
long time and they made the right decision to draft
a Q. And boy, look at our que look at
our guy. Now you a whole. Now we look at
you different. The Houston Texans, Derek could tell you the

(31:38):
Houston Texans was a weird looking team for a while.
They'll have talent here and there, but there was a
weird looking team. But if you got a guy, if
you got c J. Stroud, now you're a team that
we talk about every year that you can be in
this conversation, and I think that gives you that kind
of hope. If you don't have Dak Riscott, you're a
terrible team. You're a terrible You're you're you're in a
terrible situation. You talking about drafting high that give that
gives you a lot of hope. So when I see

(31:58):
him going out there going crazy and dizened it up
and he looking like people pay when I say it,
looking like.

Speaker 7 (32:03):
Drew Brees and nice looking like Drew Brees and.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
Him, I don't look at no man like that. But
I can appreciate when Dak going out there going going crazy.

Speaker 7 (32:11):
Like he does.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
We have a dude, right, Derek Well, I was gonna
I was actually gonna piggyback off that because I think
I do think at every moment i've been I that
they wrote me back in as an organization looking at
the team when I'm like, okay, you got a shot.
Now it's been when you got the new quarterback. I
remember that game where Romo took over at halftime and

(32:34):
you were watching him and you were like, all of
a sudden, the offensive line looks pretty good. They couldn't
block for blood blood, so but now I'm a sudden
it looked pretty good. Which again, they were the same guys.
It was just they had a quarterback knew how to
get rid of the ball, do the things. The same
thing we're seeing from Dak this year. Dak makes this
offensive line look so good. It just it just matters.
Twenty sixteen, when you got Dak in there and Dak

(32:54):
was rolling and just it was a breath of fresh air.
Those are the moments, I think in most franchises when
you get that quarterback. New York is going through the
Giants are going through it right now. You see the
kind of enthusiasm and excitement that it brings to the franchise,
and sometimes franchises can ride that straight to big success,
you know. And I think that's really when you got
really great quarterback. Play man. It's nothing like it in

(33:17):
the NFL, because your team can win any given week
when you got good quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (33:20):
Giants players are on Twitter right now talking crazy to
Broncos dudes. Yeah, like they're confident. They kind of got
a new swag now once they get it.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Once you get a quarterback, it changes everything about how
you think about the game.

Speaker 7 (33:31):
You know.

Speaker 8 (33:32):
Yeah, I'll tell you what. What what drugged me back
in was the fact that how they played against Philadelicia
and Green Bay, and what pushed me away is how
they played against Chicago and Carolina. That's the that's the
tug of war that you deal with as a cowboy fan.
You see moments of absolute brilliance. They could have won
both those games, could have very easily beaten the Eagles,

(33:53):
was a stop from getting the Green Bay game taken
care of. You know, those were the things that bring
you in. But the way they play it against Chicago
was just awful overall. And the Carolina to let them
just run over you like that was the thing that
pushes you away so very much to love hate relationship
with this with this football team. But when you when
they do show you that they can draw you in, man,

(34:14):
it's it's a pretty special thing. But but other than that, man,
it's too much of a roller coaster ride right now
for me.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Yeah, real quick, for those people that are watching our show,
when you see us like waving, we're not waving at
the camera. We got fans sometimes that are walking past,
and especially when they're kids and they wave.

Speaker 7 (34:29):
Wave.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Yeah, we got to wave back at grown people. I
don't want I don't want people to be like, why
are y'all sitting there waving at the camera. Yet we
got some fans walking past. We just want to engage
them a little bit. But that was a good point, Brian.
The good point all right, Is that it for now?

Speaker 7 (34:43):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (34:43):
Yeah, I have more work to do with you guys,
but yes, we'll save the rest for later, and we're
for next though.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
We are not getting better. I'm sorry. We've about to
figure out how we can get a professional in here.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
I gotta sit down and just talk to Mike. I
just want some answers to some of the stuff that
he was he was doing.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
That's probably not gonna work. That's probably not gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
But I mean, I'm not gonna cut some oud as.
You want to talk football with them? I know those
football guys want to talk football.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
I don't know if he don't want to sit down.

Speaker 7 (35:07):
With you, make don't know me, Michael, never know me.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Hey, well, Michael, get a heads up. Hey man, this
is that dude that's been talking about you.

Speaker 7 (35:13):

Speaker 2 (39:19):
All this money all right, it reminds me of Ricky Bobby.
This big Newton sign I can't see, but I really
love them. That's hilarious. Anyway, all right, let's talk about
predictions for this game. Uh, let's go around the table. Uh,
let's actual, let's do this instead of getting to the
pick of the game. Tell me if Dallas wins this game,

(39:42):
it will be because Blank.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Jade and Daniels made one mistake. AT and T Stadium
is loud. Maybe they get an untimely penalty and it
helps the defense just produce one extra stop. I don't
want people to think that I'm being hyperbolic when I
say this. You're you're you're literally losing field goal games.
You know one stop is the difference. So uh, you know,
I don't I'd be foolish to assume that a turnover

(40:07):
happens already hard enough to get those, but maybe just
an untimely mistake by the Washington Football Wizards, and that'll
lead the Cowboy points.

Speaker 8 (40:14):
Yeah, maybe the sun gets in someone's eyes hopefully. No,
I'm just kidding that.

Speaker 7 (40:17):
You know something else Mama McCarthy used to do.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
There you go, Mamma McCarthy.

Speaker 7 (40:20):
Used to call plays right in the sun.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Why the ball right? You know it's gonna be there, right,
That's what I'm saying. All right.

Speaker 7 (40:31):
Here, Why don't we throw the ball over there?

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Right?

Speaker 9 (40:35):
Ryan?

Speaker 6 (40:35):
You know that's the subject.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
But you know that's like, that's my thing is. That's
why it should be a home field advantages because you
know what it's gonna be like playing around it?

Speaker 7 (40:46):
What does that do? What it sound like? Where is okay?
Just we're fine.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Brandon Laurie does a really good job of curating Cowboys content.
Just go over He's they they showing all the past
sun in our eyes moment and I'm just like, no,
if I was calling, I didn't mean to bring that
call the odd number?

Speaker 6 (41:06):
You know what you were doing?

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Yeah, there's a way to go around.

Speaker 7 (41:15):
Hands in the print. Oh we got a plan for
the sun that brings a smile.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
That's the point.

Speaker 7 (41:20):
It's going to be like Jerry not gonna close the
damn curtains. Have a plan.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
There's a plan, there's a plan.

Speaker 7 (41:25):
I'm sorry, get home. I'm sorry.

Speaker 8 (41:28):
I think I think your take about getting a stop.
But I think to me, this is going to if
they're gonna be compromised on with their receivers, this is
going to now turn into you're gonna have to find
a way to play. Dallas wins this game if they
find a way to play run defense. And we mentioned
it with the fits, we mentioned with the finish. You

(41:48):
know you're the situation. Dallas has had some trouble with tackling.
The Commanders have had trouble with tackling to both teams
really when it comes to run the football, playing offense.
That the Commanders don't play zone coverage all that well,
they get into that every once in a while. You
got a quarterback that takes advantage. But I think this
thing is gonna come down to, really, if Dallas can
find a way to get better run fits, if you

(42:11):
don't see gaps, and the thing that the Commanders are
going to do is They're gonna spread you out with
their offense, and they're going to try and run the
ball inside outside on you.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
Fits if you.

Speaker 8 (42:20):
Don't see guys jumping around blocks and getting all blocks
and all that, that's how Dallas is going to win
this game. Their offense can put the Commanders in a
very very bad spot. Defense has got to find a
way to get some run stops.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
To your question, if they win is because that's what
they do. They push you away and then riel you back in.
So this is what I'm expecting. Yeah, yeah, so I'm
expecting a win.

Speaker 8 (42:43):
The important game. It is the grand Yeah, you've got
I mean, you've got to You've got to find a
way to kind of claw your way back into this thing.

Speaker 5 (42:52):
But also historically, historically Doc typically has or and plays
a good game against the Washington Commanders. So I'm expecting
him to go out there and have a great game.
So I think I'm choosing a win for this weekend.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
But so also to watch Tolbert on the return game.
You might not get in on the punt return side,
but all of a sudden, if you know you're back
and forth, back and forth, watch him controlling field position.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
You know, if all of the Turpin try yes coming Yeah,
watch Turpin in the.

Speaker 8 (43:30):
Punt in the in the the kickoff return game. You
know the element of him. Dallas won a game at
Washington with that kind of that that his ability kept
bringing the ball back and affected field position that way.
So this could be your You're kind of your dark
horse player of the game.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
I will say this, Brian, after what he did to
them last year, they might be like, Man, give it
to us. That give them the ball thirty five time.
That's better than a touchdown. Like they might be so
infided dealing with him. They just like, man's kicking out
thirty five and thirty five to first downs. That's good.
That's that's field position, right. He affects the field position
all right? Real quick? I do one also, uh yeah,

(44:07):
more news, uh. Ian Rappaport says, we already know. I
told you guys. Ian Rappaports reporting that Dan Quinn told
reporters that Terry McLaren will be out for the Sundays game.
So it sounds like the Cowboys are gonna be without Digs.
It sounds like, uh, the Commanders will be without Arry McLaren.
Will see about Deebo Samuel. Uh, but already both teams
kind of missing some some key guys, and we'll see

(44:27):
how that plays out on Sunday. All right, let's get
some picks real quick for you in the show. Watch
some homers.

Speaker 7 (44:32):
Cowboy w thirty five two.

Speaker 5 (44:34):
All right, this guy, I can't trust your opinion when
you keep being a Homer.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
I haven't been wrong yet. The Cowboys offense normally puts
up points the other side. The other side go a
little crazy.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
He's kind of got a point.

Speaker 5 (44:50):
He's been choosing the Cowboys, according to his analysis, should be.

Speaker 7 (44:54):
The Cowboys have opportunity.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
They you're up in Spanish, not saying almost easy.

Speaker 5 (45:05):
I'm picking the Cowboys not because I'm a Homer, but
because I actually do think they have the ability to
win this game against the Commander's huge game for them.
I'm picking thirty two twenty four.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
We're right here in Okay, Right, so I go home.

Speaker 8 (45:21):
Yeah. I think Aubrey walks this thing off. I think
it's a final drive. They didn't get a final drive
last week. They get one this week. Thirty one to
twenty eight, Dallas.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
All right, I think Cowboys win. I think Cowboys win
in a close game. I think it is a high, high,
high scoring game. It's forty five, forty two. Both teams
get over forty. I think it's going to be a
back and forth game. Offense is just going their homer
over here. I just think offenses are going to be
going crazy, right Cowboys and Cowboys get a win, all right.
We appreciate you guys. You want to sweet back on

(45:50):
money will tell you what when right and wrong with
the Cowboys. Still there for Vox lomb Body Brian brought
us at Amergarcia. I'm Derek Kildon. It has been The
Break live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com Radio.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboy
