While the Cowboys have been able to overcome many of these injuries, the question now is if these guys are guaranteed to get their starting spot back. And is that a bad thing?

Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com
and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
This is Cowboys Storyline presented by Gillette, the official shave
of the Dallas Cowboys. Here's Nick Eatman.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Hello and welcome to Cowboys Storyline presented by Gillette. I'm
Nick Eatman. It's Thursday, October the ninth. Let's go, let's
do this. Let's talk a little Cowboys football against the
Carolina Panthers, see if they can get over five hundred
for the first time this season. Sitting directly at five
hundred to two and one, the only team in the

(00:44):
league with through five games that is right at five hundred,
and we're gonna see weird records like that, I guess
are unique records all year long. Let's just make sure
it's not a second one.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Man. It's one of those.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Things where, like usually in life, you know, you do
something once, you're like that sucks or whatever, but do
it again. I guess it's not so bad. I don't
think that will ever be cool to have a tie,
even if it's another one, or you know, this is
the first one in what fifty five years, even if
it happens again, you wouldn't want that, definitely don't want that.
This week this is a game I think the Cowboys

(01:20):
should win. It's not going to be easy, but I
do think it's a game they should win. Let's talk
about it. Let's go eight a to eight eight five
five two two ninety seven. Casey, Casey Joe in Kansas
City is first.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
What's up? Joking?

Speaker 5 (01:31):
Good morning, mister Eaton, and how are you doing today?

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Great? How are you good?

Speaker 6 (01:35):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:35):
I'm going to give you my prediction for the game
real quick. Forty two to seventeen this weekend. That's what
I see, okay, And I think Sanford the tied end,
is looking real good. I think he's almost matching Ferguson.
But I mean, for a second, backup, I think he
looks a little better than Scooney.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Yeah, so I really do.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
I think they should play him more. And then uh
as Araku and Houston. I wouldn't take them off the field.
And as a Roku seems to be improving every time
that he gets on the field. So yeah, it's kind
of exciting.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
I don't have much. That's all I got today, brother.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Thanks appreciate the call on the Bingo card. A first
player to be talked about. Brevin span Ford was not
it for me. I like it though. That's what this
show's about. You guys, guys are next level, you know,
and third level if you will. Is he the Is
he the second best tight end?

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Maybe?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
I mean he he does provide and the second tight
end is going to provide more things for you than
just catching the ball down the field.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
But I do, I do like what.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Span Ford gives them. I don't think scoon Maker is
a problem right now. Ferguson's the guy that's that's doing everything.
He's catching more passes than any tight end in the league.
I think he's second in the NFL right now and
catches behind Poka and Nakua. Obvious they're not for you know,
a lot of yards. But it's it really is moving

(03:05):
the chains, moving the sticks. And you know, is talking
to Stephen Jones yesterday and interview that'll go up on
the on the website here probably today, he said, you know,
he said, the thing about that with Ferguson is just
keeping them out of third and long. And that's and
that's kind of what that is. It's it's it's an
extended running play because it is a safe throw and

(03:26):
sometimes Ferguson gets up the field, but you don't think
about that on first down. You throw it and he
catches it, turns and gets six seven yards. It's second
and three changes everything that you want to do in
that drive. So good stuff there. As for Azeraku and
Houston never coming off the field, you know, Micah came
off the field, you know. I mean that that's part
of the position. That's what they play. Pass rushers do that.

(03:48):
But I get your point about who should play the most.
Now we've been asking for Dante Fowler to step it up,
and he did. I mean, he was credited with eight
pressures in the game. That's that's pretty good, you know,
for for for one game. Uh, and so he was
very very active how to pass deflection off his head

(04:10):
but you know he never saw that coming. But but
I mean he was right there and in the passing lane.
And and if it wasn't for the skycam camera that
knocked the ball, there's a chance that could have been intercepted.
So which I've never said that one before, but.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Still I like what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Asaku, we did a story Tommy Yar short of story
with Donovan Azeraku yesterday. It's on the website now about
how he knows, he knows his time is coming. He's
gonna get that first sack, and when he does, he's
gonna he thinks he's gonna get a lot more.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
So hopefully that is the case.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
All Right, Davion and Illinois our second caller, Davion, what's up?

Speaker 7 (04:46):
What's going on? Big? What's going on with it? Good?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
All right? I'm doing all right? How are you?

Speaker 7 (04:52):
I'm doing well? A couple of things. Yesterday's a bashing
Cayle was a it was a great Kyle touch him
to hear that, hear hear from it and what he
said it was a kind of touched my heart a
little bit. Yeah, so shouts out to him. Uh yeah. Secondly,
got a p s A for everyone for the Cowboy Nation.

(05:13):
I want to say that we got to enjoyed the
moment now, uh we were, we got a quarterback to cooking,
We got a coach that is really looking like it's
gonna be found one. I think we need, really need
to try and enjoy the moment because I hear a
lot of people say, yeah, but wait till the playoffs
and all that kind of stuff. But right now we're
in a critical time to get some wins, can rack

(05:33):
up some wins hopefully and uh, get out and get
our team where we need to go. And then basically
if we do that every day, that everybody want to
see probably what happened this year. But it's just enjoyed now.
I mean, let's let's let's let's not try to look
ahead and we gonna know the four letter ESPN gonna
try to say yeah, yeah, but I'm dack a lot
and I'm like, I don't like, I don't really like

(05:54):
this focus that that that that cooks.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, for sure, Dave, you have kids, Yeah, I got
fun just one. You got one kid, so you usually
have a favorite, Okay, So I was gonna ask you
that you're not supposed to have favorites, right, you know,
if kids you have more than one kid, and that's
my favorites. But I'm gonna tell you this, David, and
you're becoming one of my favorite callers for sure.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Thank you for the call.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
And I'll say this why you know, it's off the
air because we've got to keep the lines going. But
I say that because I love you know, a healthy
mix of somebody that that can be critical at times,
but also you know can can kind of see the
big picture as well, and it's never just one thing
or another. It's always negative or it's always positive. I

(06:38):
mean because we had a lot of callers in here too,
and that's fine, always positive, always seeing you know, the
son's always out, which is great. But I like the mixture.
You never know what you're gonna give. Davion drop the
reference well, you know, a movie or reference. Other day,
Jared Maguire, You know, I thought that was that was funny. Uh,
you know, it surprised me. But but again, you know,

(07:00):
so that that was a really touching call. You're right
about that with with Sebastian, who's always really positive and
all that you could tell he was he had something
on his on his heart there. But so I love
about this show is very this this community, it's awesome
and it never ceased to surprise me. You're right about that,
enjoy it now type stuff. You know, it frustrates me

(07:22):
too when the national critics or whatever. Michael Strahan did
it the other day. You know, this team big win
against the Jets, and I think what was his first thing?
He said, Yeah, okay, well, you know, talk to me
about the playoffs. Well, then then give up your microphone,
you know, I mean, give up your seat. There's only
eight people, nine twelve people in that fox you know,

(07:45):
you know they won't miss you. And so that's why
I am with with a lot of people. And fans
do it too, you know what. Yeah, okay, that looks good.
Cowboys talk, you know, let me know what happens in
the playoffs. Well then why don't you just shut up
until until we get there? Then, because I'm sorry, because
that's the way it goes. No, there's never been a
playoff game ever in football, uh in October.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
That's not the way it is.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
So if you can't enjoy it, and and and it's
and if everything is, well, yeah, let's see what happens
in the playoff, then just shut the hell up until
we get there. I mean that, and let someone else talk,
because lord knows, there's a lot of people that want
to talk. All right, speaking up. I'm a in NAPA.
He's ready to talk. What's up?

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Man?

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Hey, what's happening?

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Nick?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Man?

Speaker 7 (08:24):
I love it? I love it.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
You're exactly right. You gotta where your feet are, Yeah,
you got to be where your feet are. Love the moment, man.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Oh yeah, I mean Dak can't win a playoff game tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
He can't.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
He's just all he can do is play well until
we get there. He gets there, and you know.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
It's it's just a it's just such an easy.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Low hanging fruit for for fans to be like, okay, nice,
but you know what happens then well then just shut
up until.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
We get there, right.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
I agree exactly. Man, I've been trying to get in
all week, or actually for the last couple of weeks,
but anyways, don't want to go back, only want to
go forward. Loving the running game. Obviously, there's tons of
talent on the offensive line. I think more than any
of us imagined. I mean I think we could picture it,
but obviously way better and man looking for just to

(09:14):
build on that. Yeah, keep the running game going. Obviously
the defense played against a bad team last week, and
I think they'll play against a better team but they
should still handle business. So man, looking forward to it.
And just one thing, you do you see Guyton when

(09:36):
he's better, just coming back in. It was one of
my questions I had earlier. Just him and Rob Jones
are not Rob Jones, Jones Thomas. I don't know why
I always talk about Rob Jones, but you see them
this flip flopping back once he's healthy, or do you
just ride the hot guy or I don't I know.
In the game before before getting got the concussion and

(10:00):
they had kind of like switched him in.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
At or Terrence Steele, Nate Thomas came in on the
right side for Terrence Steele. They want to get Nate Thomas. Hey,
I may thank you for the call. And you talk
about just even kill man. He seems he seemed chilled,
Like I kind of wonder I may like if the
Cowboys like got a big win and last second overtime
field goal and you know.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Is it like, yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
You got to have that though, you know what I mean,
I'm up and down all the time, but you like that.
Nate Thomas is becoming a really good swing tackle back up.
You see him on the right, see him on the left.
Let's make no mistake about it, though, Tyler Guyton is
the guy they want to be their left tackle. They
think he's got all the tools to do that. Uh,

(10:51):
he needs to play, he needs to line up right,
he needs to see this twist, this bull rush to
this move.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
He needs to keep doing that.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
He needs to be able to fight through some of
the injuries, fight through some of these things, not concussion.
I'm not saying fight through the concussion. I'm just just
in general, all players do. I was told that a
long time ago about there's a difference, you know, between
guys that are sore and guys that are really injured
and really hurt and so. And I'm not saying he
is or not. I'm just saying young players got to

(11:22):
keep playing and kind of develop that. He's getting there.
I'm seeing more dog in him Tyler Goydon and so
I think he'll be back. I think he's he'll be
really good.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Now.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
There may be a spot for Nate Thomas, you know,
down the road, who knows, but you know he needs
to get better too, and by doing that, he needs
to play. I like what shot he's doing about kind
of rotating those guys a little bit. It's not something
you normally see on the offensive line, but why not.
If you're not going to have, you know, a downfall,
then I like doing it. I like mixing these guys

(11:53):
in there, all right, champ In Nebraska's next.

Speaker 8 (11:57):
Hey, good morning morning.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
How are you.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
I'm well, man, Thank you? Hey, so real quick Now
to beat on the dead horse in the past that
Randy calling in and Dylan the other day. Hey, man,
when you guys talk like that, I know we're here
for cowboys stuff, but that's family stuff also, and we're
a family and I'm glad that those guys can reach
out to us or reach out on your show and

(12:24):
put themselves out there. So the guys that are faithful,
that believe in faith and all that, I'm praying for you, man,
all of you.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Thank you cowboys stuff. And you know what, Hey, you
know what.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Let me just interrupt one thing you said there, Sure,
and you get it. You're you're right, we're going to
talk football here, but you're not beating any dead horse
by coming in there and saying that it doesn't matter.
I don't give I don't give a crap says something.
I don't care if if every single person that calls
that says, hey, I want to give a shout out
to Randy or Sebastian or Dylan or whoever else, Irene,

(12:56):
I don't care about that, because that's that's okay. I'm
one of those of like let's go, let's go, let's go.
But like you just said, this is a family. This
is your moment to get in here and say something,
and it's never going to be overkill to be saying
that in my opinion.

Speaker 8 (13:10):
All right, I appreciate that I need to correct myself.
You're right, it was the best and not dyling. They
call this the best, and I'm playing for you, brother. Hey,
so cowboys related. When I called a couple of weeks ago,
it was Packers week, and I told you I kind
of felt like I was being a homer picking them,
But something inside me told me that we had a
shot in that game and we should have pulled that out.

(13:31):
Last week. I was really nervous because I thought this
is a type of game that the Cowboys played great
last week, and then they're going to play down to
the lesser team, and they came out and proved me
completely wrong. I'm expecting this week the exact same thing.
I think that this team is slowly starting to figure
some stuff out, and if they get on a roll,

(13:52):
watch out like it could have. I'm not saying the
super Bowl has been the limit. They could get really
good for us. A good season, and that's all I
want is get in the playoffs and then anything can happen.
My question is again about Lifty. You know, he got
one carry last week. I believe it was kind of
a garbage carry, but he made the most of it,

(14:12):
which was awesome. I don't think they expected him to
pick up a first down on that draw play, but
he did. And I'm just wondering, like, what's going on?
Do we just have too many playmakers and that's why
he's not getting the opportunities that we kind of thought
he was going to get when he got the extension
he signed. And last thing I'm gonna stay is you'd
be good in Carolina because we've heard those stories. Yeah,

(14:34):
take care go Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
All right, Champ appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
You know it did go back September twenty fifth, Thursday,
so Thursday might be your day to call or get in. Yeah,
you said all I have written down is Champ from
Nebraska plus one. I think you said the Cowboys are
going to win, find a way to win. Plus one
pretty close. Can't get closer than that Liftky's past. The

(15:01):
play you're referring to, I believe was a swing pass.
Now in the left flat on third and ten. Wasn't
the wasn't the play they were going for, but you know,
nothing was open. Pass rush was probably getting to him.
He dumped it off and Lifpkey did a great job
of getting straight up the field, putting his head down,
got ten yards exactly that. I thought that was one

(15:24):
of my five plays in the game that I put in.
You don't forget these five. It was one of them
because that kept the drive going and and they ended
up scoring their first touchdown that year. You don't get
that play, you probably punt. Now we're just sitting here
three to three and you know, everyoney, we got a
game here and so uh but Lipkey's a fullback and
he's he plays a lot on special teams. He's got

(15:46):
a good role. But you're right, there's a lot of
playmakers here, so that it's you know, he's not the
most dynamic runner, he's not the best tight end, he's
not he's definitely not the best pass catcher. But he
he can do a little bit everything. And you know
that's why I call him Thanksgiving because you just always
got a full plate. You know, you just put everything
on his plate. And the more you put on better.

(16:08):
It is all right, let's go to Ali in Florida morning,
their morning.

Speaker 7 (16:13):
How are you pretty good, buddy? How about you great? Okay?

Speaker 9 (16:17):
So a couple of things. What I love about our
storyline community, it's so different from other podcasts. Actually, your
sense of family value. Yep to me, you started it
and you give us. You and Chris give us a
sense of belonging. Yeah, and it would make a difference

(16:41):
in my week. It makes a difference in all of us.
Having said that, I want to give a few thanks
to and prayer for a couple of the people that
I know. Brandy, keep up the good work. Maybe I
get lucky one of these days you can hop in

(17:01):
and go on one of my photography for I'll show
you some of the wildlife and enjoy it. I pray
for Sebastian and every Cowboy storyliner. They might have a
little hard time and they're going to the episode. I
start my day with the prayer and with the prayer
every day. And I want to say thank you to

(17:25):
Irene personally, because what I know, she's taking of her mom.
Not because she's nice to open up the Twitter stuff,
but she's a very unselfish person. And that sacrifice her
life taking care of her mother, and to me it

(17:47):
means the.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
World to me.

Speaker 9 (17:48):
So having said that, you guys have an awesome captain.
And did you know dak fiance is from Tampa, Florida?
Have you did you know that? No, Okay, she's from here.
I've been through some of the family gathering in the stuff.

(18:09):
I cannot talk about it. But if any of the
cowboys and storyliners they want to take a little break,
you have an uncle Ali here. You send your wife,
your children, yourself. I'll make sure I throw a red
carpet treatment for anybody wants to come here. You have
the best beaches, including your children. And I love you

(18:33):
for what you do. Next. I really really appreciate this program.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
All right, thank you, brother.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Appreciate that you guys are showing the love today and yesterday.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
I love it. You know, it's it's great.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Also means the Cowboys are probably winning, you know, or
in a good, good spot where you know it's not
it's not great, it's right right at the you know,
even mark. But looks like things are looks like this
might be a pretty decent team, could be a good team.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
We don't know. Yet, but yeah, I love it. I
love you know it.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
There's some days, you know, some days are just you
got to like going number. For the most part, getting
in here and letting you guys just do your thing
is is fun. You know, at least said something about,
you know, belonging or whatever. It's just it's just a voice,
that's all it is. It says almost. I mean, Chris
is gonna start it up. He's gonna fire it up,

(19:31):
and I'm gonna, you know, and I'm gonna gonna drive
it and then we're just gonna pick up people along
the way, you know. And that's what it is. It's
just that he's got a bunch of co stars. So
that's what's awesome about it, all right, Michael in Ohio, California,
I say that right, Oh.

Speaker 10 (19:47):
Hi, yeah you got it.

Speaker 7 (19:49):
What's up just living the dream?

Speaker 4 (19:52):
How you doing living the dream? Well you're up early
over there in Cali.

Speaker 10 (19:57):
Well, teachers hours, gonna do what you gotta do.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
So this is like a break. Are you on like
a break? Are you what do you teach?

Speaker 10 (20:07):
Luckily I don't have a first period of classes where
I get to sneak in watching this stuff early on.
But I teach ap psych APUs and ap world, so
they keep me busy.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
So somebody smart, okay, I mean, I'm I'm gonna say,
Michael is one of the smartest guys on the you know.
The other day, Irene was saying she wanted to have
different categories for who's the most.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Likely to you know, uh, you know, save the world.
I'm saying, Michael.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
You know what's funny is I know I'm getting off
track here, but when I think of somebody with their
off period, you know, I think of them with the
with you know, an empty classroom, trying to grade those
papers and get everything ready. No, you're over here calling
the show lovey.

Speaker 10 (20:49):
Yeah yeah, Luckily, luckily I got all that done yesterday.
So I try to I try to sneak in my
free time in the morning so I can have a
little bit of fun. But you know, and I'm about smart.
My wife teaches physics. She's a smart one. She plays
kates me.

Speaker 7 (21:01):
I thank you, guys.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
I think the GPA in that house old pretty high,
all right.

Speaker 10 (21:09):
Yeah, I actually just wanted to jump on it. It's
something that was mentioned earlier, so I had one idea
to ask, but it got flipped when the conversation about.

Speaker 7 (21:18):
Geyton came up.

Speaker 10 (21:19):
Because one of the things that has stood out to me,
because I'm not going to pretend that I haven't been
one of those fans that got on him early about
you know, the standard was Tyrone Smith, and you got
to remember that the standard changes when you get new personnel.
But uh, what what what do you see as far
as like Schottenheimer's approach to competition and how you know
Geiton is being pushed I feel like by Nate Thomas.

(21:42):
But like early on in a different career that turned
out pretty much all right, was a Closeel Adams, right
like when he was playing left tackle. I remember being
really ticked off at all the false starts, but you
know that started to get corrected and he became somebody
that we could rely on and say, you know, it
was time for us to change the guard. And Tyron

(22:02):
Smith didn't start out smooth. You know, he had to
do his thing. And with that same conversation, right like,
Steel's being pushed and you can see the competition happening there.
And then even with you know, the conversations that people have,
you know, I know BB's hurt and you never lose
your shouldn't lose your position to injury. But even Hoffman
coming in and people like I feel like the rambling

(22:24):
short version would be the competition is showing us at
the offensive line that we were so worried about at
one point last year and even early this year. People
are rising to the occasion versus where it felt like
before we were just like, well, why does he still
have a job, right, And so even though Geyton has
had his struggles, I'm less concerned because it seems like

(22:45):
everyone's being pushed to get better versus just saying like, well,
what he's back, He's back, And I feel like that's
one of the things that I am really starting to
respect more and more from Schottenheimer, as far as just
the way that he not just conducts himself publicly, but
from what we understand, is happening behind the scenes that
we don't get to see, and that hopefully guys like
geton to know the other people who are trying to develop,

(23:06):
we'll get that opportunity because they're being pushed and it
forces you to rise to the top. And I just
wanted to get your opinion on that and what.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
You think, all right, Michael, I appreciate it's that right, yeah, Michael, Sorry,
I appreciate that. And I'm gonna call you a a
p Michael, because uh, I want the smaller, smartest cars.
We've got nothing, you know whatever, And what you know,
if you if you say something like that, I'm like, yeah,
probably probably. So here's the thing that we don't. We

(23:36):
haven't just seen it yet. If we have, it's it's
escaping me. But you're right in these guys when they
come back, what what happens?

Speaker 4 (23:47):
You know?

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Have we seen a scenario yet where the guy come
doesn't get his job back. We haven't seen it just yet.
I mean Tyler Geyton, I think's coming back to me
and he's gonna play left tackle. Baby, I would imagine
comes back but to to to take over the spot
with Hoffman. But you know, we'll see, We'll see how

(24:11):
how he's playing, how how Brock continues to play. I mean,
I would imagine Tyler Brooker is gonna come back and
take the job, you know back from TJ. I mean
from TJ. Bass Tyler Smith, you know, saying the same thing.
But you know, in some positions where there's rotation, maybe
maybe you see more of that. You know, maybe maybe

(24:33):
you see Flinoy, like now everyone's healthy again, they'll say
ceed if he is, he's not gonna play this week,
I don't think. But when he is back and turping
and all that, you're gonna see more of Flinoy because
he he he flashed when it was time. So I
don't know if we've we've seen it just yet where
a guy just comes back, it doesn't get his job.

Speaker 4 (24:53):
You know.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
That's a Miles Austin type thing, you know, where you
know Roy Williams was hurt and Creighton, you know, played
and then all of a sudden, I think Roy got
his job back, but Creighton didn't, you know, because Miles
Austin just proved he was. What are they playing? And
he proved it for a few years. So we'll see
when it gets to that point. But you're right about

(25:16):
everything's on the table. So I really I like that,
and I like that that Shoddy not only says compete
every day, but it does seem like they are competing
every day. Let's go to break here on Cowboys storyline.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Be right back, Cowboys fans.

This segment is presented by YETI officially licensed Yetti Cowboys

little bit ice in there. All right, let's go back
to the phone. Actually I want to do I wanted

(27:37):
to say one thing. Chris, when did a little research,
We talked about never want to see another tie again?
He said, not since nineteen seventy three the Packers had
two ties. Not since seventy three as a team had
two ties in one season. So cool, Maybe the Packers
could do it again, all right, Sergeant Sue in Fort

(27:58):
Worth is next at ease everybody.

Speaker 14 (28:01):
How you doing, Nick, Man, I'm loving I'm loving the
show today. A lot of love, a lot of shout
outs and everything like that. So I really like the
vibes and I just to kind of continue to piggyback
on that. If anybody has ever in the DFW area,
A lot of storyliners have come here and they've reached out,
and I'd love to, you know, meet up, grab some
lunch or whatever, you know. I mean, I've met Rick

(28:21):
and Davian. I've met Davian before Ali. I was blessed
to meet him. He's such a such a nice guy.
So if you guys driving the df W area, I
would like to hang out, you know, I'd love.

Speaker 15 (28:30):
Them to meet you.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Guys want to go to the gym with you? You know?

Speaker 14 (28:34):
Oh yeah, they want to go to the gym.

Speaker 8 (28:36):
You know what.

Speaker 14 (28:37):
I'm gonna be honest with you, man, I worked out
a lot, you know, to go to training camp. I've
been a little lazy ever.

Speaker 16 (28:43):
Since, man, So I might need I might need.

Speaker 14 (28:45):
Some encouragement to go into the gym, to be honest,
but uh, but yeah, and then uh, just a quick
shout out to the to the Alan in the YouTube
chat wanted me to shout out the YouTube chat as well.
They can't call in, but they feel like they're part
of the family as well. Someone has to throw that
out there. But as far as the I'm sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
No, I just said that's nice.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Yeah, that's that's something we don't see it all the
time and don't don't think about it as much. No offense,
but but I'm glad that you did that and shouted
it out to them.

Speaker 14 (29:09):
Yes sir, yes, sir, because you know, like you said before,
some people, you know, they can't get away from their
desk whatever, like I duck into a conference room, you
know what I mean. So we always make jokes like, hey,
that guy sounds like he's in the closet when he's calling,
you know, so you know, usually that's me anyway, So
about yeah, my bad about the game. So a lot
of people have been talking about Dak and his success
and how you know, he looks like twenty fourteen Romo

(29:30):
and stuff, And I think that this is something that
Davian had brought up, you know, for forever, since last year.
I think Prestat pre snap Motion has a lot to
do with that, you I mean, Dak's able to do
some pre stamp motion kind of determine what the defense
is in and then his hard count has gotten a
lot better.

Speaker 15 (29:45):
You know.

Speaker 14 (29:45):
That's something that actually Mike McCarthy had mentioned last last
year that, uh, you know, the cadence was kind of terrible,
and I think Dak has done a lot better at that.
So I think that's one thing that we have to
credit that to. And I credit that to, you know, Shady,
you know what I mean, another thing that we can
cre to Shody. And you know, I've really enjoyed Shody
me Like a lot of people maybe weren't really sure
about the higher but I've really liked what I've.

Speaker 17 (30:06):
Seen from him so far.

Speaker 14 (30:08):
You know, he takes blame and he feels like he
deserves blame. He self evaluates a lot, like as I
mentioned in other calls before, where you know, he kind
of overhyped like the Eagles game, and then he laid
down in bed that night and thought, you know what
am I doing? That's not me?

Speaker 15 (30:20):
You know.

Speaker 14 (30:20):
So a coach that can do that, a coach that
can self evaluate and kind of try to determine how
they should, you know, stay true of themselves or if
they needed to change up. If they need to, I
think it's really awesome to have just in case I
can't get.

Speaker 15 (30:32):
In the morow.

Speaker 14 (30:32):
I want to throw my score out there. I think
it's gonna be thirty to twenty Dallas, and I think
that twenty is gonna look, it's gonna be a late
score at twenty, So it's gonna be pretty pretty dominant
by Dallas. I do think that they're gonna show a
little bit of deficiencies here and there, you know, but
I think that ultimately this is Dallas starting to kind
of take off a little bit. So I appreciate you, Nick,
Sorry that I was a little long winded, but have

(30:52):
a great day.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
All right, Well, thank you. Yep.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
I mean this is this is one of those games
where you know that you're right. I think it's it's
gonna be it's gonna be a tough one. I mean,
just like the Cowboy fans are kind of feeling like
maybe this is kind of the start to something, you know.
I bet Carolina kind of kind of thinks the same way.
I mean, they were you know, they were one and three,
I believe, and and you know, and they they had

(31:18):
they had a big win, but then they lost the
two weeks ago, and then looks like they're gonna maybe
lose again at home to the Dolphins, and then they
find a way to come back, come back twice, you know.
So I bet you they're excited as well. It'll be
a nice crowd. I mean, it'll be a lot of
cowboy fans. Always will be a lot of cowboy fans
at Carolina. But you know, I think the Panthers have
something to get to be excited about, and so I

(31:41):
think that that's gonna be a fun game. And Rico talking,
you know, I mean he was talking trash or anything.
He was just kind of throwing it out there.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
You know.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
They know me, I'll be ready. Let's get ready, buckle up,
and so we ready, you know. I mean, I think
everybody will be all right. And you're right, Uh, Sergeant
Sue were talking about doc in you know, the free
plays he's getting with the hard counts and things like that.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
He's just seeing it more, he's seeing it better. It's
just the tenth year and so he's you.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Know, that's what happens when you have you know, ten
ten years of this you're going to see it better,
all right? Speaking of ten, how about Jr. And Avondale,
Arizona ten straight days of getting through to the show.
I don't Chris and I can argue about it a
little bit. I don't think that's ever happened before, he says,
maybe early on, but certainly not now when it's been

(32:33):
a lot tougher to get in.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
So very impressive.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
What's up man, how you doing?

Speaker 15 (32:38):
Yeah? I had to get up, I'm a retired guy
to get up at like seven twenty to get ready
to call in because I'm on the California time as well.
But it's all worth it, and I'm how.

Speaker 4 (32:49):
Do you get ready to call in? You just got
a leg Just get your phone, call out.

Speaker 15 (32:54):
My wife works from home. I do some things for her,
and I got a senior dog that some things for her,
and then then I get on the phone, go out
by the pool and I get on the phone and
start dialing. Anyway, I'm happy to be part of the community,
and I've listened for years, like I said, but there's

(33:14):
it's so diverse and so many different cultures and people
in England and Germany and Mexico and in Korea, and
in Robin Vegas. I mean, come on, you got all
the all the corners touched. But anyway, I wanted to
say about about the Cowboys offense, and I think it's
it's for their best part of the team right now.

(33:37):
I think the defense is getting better. I just don't
want them to see them go out and spend draft
capital if we're sitting in I mean, I think everything
changes throughout the year, but we're in at five three
and one. After this next run of games, which I
think will we'll we'll, we'll, we'll be there be at
six to two in one, do you go get somebody

(33:59):
and give up the draft capitals say they're already giving
up some for next year. That's something you can give
me your opinion on or your your answer to what
you think. I just think you gotta lay it rely
on this offense. I with the with the Panthers. I'm
a firm believer as a as a player and a
coach and a fan. You give teams the idea that

(34:22):
they can win and they play better. You need to
go in there and just crush, crush these guys. Get
that offense out on the field and just let them
know who is Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott, and I just
go with what one of my favorite sports movies is
The Major League, and low Brown said, forget about the curve, Ricky,

(34:44):
give them the heater, give them what you do best,
and bow these guys out. And that's all I got today.
And I'll try again tomorrow. But have a great and
go Cowboy.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
All right, thank you, Jay, I appreciate that. Go for eleven.
I'm gonna have to get that your on. Give him
the heater, give him the heater.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
I thought, you know, when you say what Lou Brown says,
I mean, there's only like ninety seven different you know
quotes in there. You know, I always just think Shout
of Dorn. I love that movie. I mean, one of
the best. And that's one of those things too, where
like you can really get into an argument with someone,

(35:25):
you know, and I have. I've done this before about
this particular movie and like the best baseball movie of
all time.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
And then people like to get.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Up at eat and say, wow, it's the Field of
Dreams or it's the Natural or whatever, and those are great,
those are the finn But I mean, it's not something
I'm gonna watch twelve times in a row like Major League.
I mean, so, whether it's slapstick or not, it's it's hilarious.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Anyways. If you haven't seen it, you should. You should
watch it. It's funny. It's the best. The best announcer
of all time in any sports movie is Bob Bucker
in that.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
There's no doubt in fact, Chris, I think we actually
still well. I stole a line from that when we
were in the Areas and Atlanta one time for Arena football.
I just I mean straight copy right one of the
lines and put it on there.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
All right, let's go to Josh in Chicago, say Nick.

Speaker 16 (36:14):
Josh from Chicago by way of North Carolina.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
So oh oh yeah, you know you're in North Carolina.

Speaker 15 (36:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (36:21):
I've actually been in trial all week in California or
two weeks, so we're finishing up. So I might be
able to go to the game this Sunday though, Okay,
we'll see if it works out.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
From lives in North Carolina. Been in in California, yes, okay,
and you might go.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
To the game.

Speaker 16 (36:38):
I might be able to make it. So if I do,
I'm gonna I'm gonna try to link up with you
because I gotta I gotta get my book signed. You know,
but if these walls could talk, it's just it's just
got so many good stories.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Thank you so much. I think I don't know, can
you can you? I guess you can bring a book
into the game. Yeah you can do that. This is
you know, it's it's not a weapon. But I guess
just get get kind of behind the bench area over there, and.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah we'll see people.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
You know, we wave the people over there so that
if they allow some some some people don't. I don't
know where your tickets are and all that kind of stuff,
but you know, if you're on the first level, you
could get down there.

Speaker 15 (37:19):
Sounds good.

Speaker 16 (37:21):
My My only thing about this game is, you know,
Donald's gonna be running mad. I haven't been able to
listen to what anyone said all week or anything like that,
so I'm super busy. But I just think, like the
key to this game is he's he's wanting to show
out and he looks good, and we got to stop
the run, keep stopping the run and have this defense
build up even more and hopefully we get a Cowboys
win calculator.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
Yeah, all right, thanks for the call.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
I mean, I'm trying to like have you know, create
any bullets and board material either. But you know, two six,
I mean that was that was an outstanding game. A
couple of big runs, but for the most part he
was he was running you know, consistent lee and and
really churning out some yards. And yeah, he's gonna be

(38:03):
mad and whatever, but I mean he had two hundred
and six yards in Week five and he is not
rushed for over three hundred yards this year, So I
get it. He wasn't the starter Juba Hubbard was whatever,
But you know there's still he's We've seen this at
a Rico.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
We've said some.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Nice games we've seen somewhere. You know, he gets thirty
yards or whatever. So the Dolphins are I mean, they're
not just the worst rush defense in the league now
because he did that. They were the worst going into it.
So the Cowboys I think are better than that. They
gave up a few runs to Breeze Hall as well,
So you know, it's all it's all gonna be about

(38:45):
how the offense does to be. If the offense can
go and really dominate early on and and do what
they've done and put up some points and do all
that stuff, then I think it's going to be a
challenge for them to just run Rico Dwell all day long.
That's just gonna be hard for them to do that.
Rice Young is the worst statistical quarterback in the NFL
of the of the guys who have started five games.

(39:05):
I mean, his quarterback ratings like seventy nine point nine.
Everything is short. He doesn't throw anything down the field,
so tackle just he's gonna dump it off. Make the tackle.
They do that put him in some third and long situations.
They'll keep the ball out of the running back's hands
and it'll force him to go make plays. And I
think that's kind of what you want. All Right, it's
go to break here on Cowboys storyline.

Speaker 18 (39:25):
Be right back, all right, Cowboys fans, this one's for you.

To Minnesota where Lester is Leter in Minnesota?

Speaker 4 (41:08):
What's up?

Speaker 20 (41:09):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Nick?

Speaker 20 (41:11):
Hey?

Speaker 17 (41:11):
Man?

Speaker 20 (41:12):
My shout I'm doing good man. My shouts out is
to all the cowboys storyliners. Man. I appreciate everything everybody's saying.
I leave, man, I was so great man, everybody saying
good and great things.

Speaker 5 (41:26):
My prayers.

Speaker 20 (41:27):
I'm also a praying man. My prayers go out to
Shabaskan and Randy.

Speaker 7 (41:34):
Man.

Speaker 20 (41:35):
It's just Nick, you you, you, you and you and
the storyliners.

Speaker 15 (41:41):
Man.

Speaker 20 (41:41):
You all have given me an outlet all as well
as to talk about the cowboys man, because man, in Minnesota,
ain't there's no cowboys up it? Well, some but not
many so. But I just wanted to get shouts out
to everybody. Man, Hey, and all I got to say,
oh my score, this game would be thirty four through

(42:02):
twenty one or seventeen, thirty four, seventeen cowboys keep running
the ball, play action pass, go to the ball, dack
go cowboys.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
All right, that's true.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Appreciate that you know that that actually with you saying.
You know people that have called in and said things,
and you can tell that you know they got stuff
on their mind, and it makes me it makes me
think about the ones that have called there, that try
to call in and have it haven't been able to
to get in. So, you know, because you know you

(42:39):
know that, you know that they got something to say too.
So there's a lot of people that probably have some
really cool things to say or stuff today they want
to they want to share, and they don't always get in.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
So it kind of.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Shout out to them as well. All right, let's go
to Zach in Atlanta, zach.

Speaker 17 (42:57):
Nick and Frisco. What's something, man, how are you? I'm good, man,
I'm good. Great show yesterday. Shout out to everybody. Good
stuff that's happening in storyline. Man, I need to clear
up my call from the other day. I made a
sideways question, got a sideways response about where to CD
fit in the offense, like it's justified. The way I

(43:22):
put it was justified. Your response. Obviously, CD is where
the offense flows through. I'm not worried about him and
Dack's connection at all. I think my thing is I'm
learning to trust Shody. I've seen previous regimes fumble it
with red zone issues or drive stalling out or abandoning
the run, and so I'm just like, hey, I'm learning

(43:44):
to trust Shody. I want to see him stack Uh,
you know, good good game plans, and CD doesn't complicate that.
He shouldn't at all.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
I'm just like, you know, what you're you're saying is
is we know where CD is going to be, But
who's who's gonna get less naps?

Speaker 4 (44:04):
Now? You know, like like where does it affect things?
Is it just Tolbert? Is it turpid flinoid?

Speaker 17 (44:09):
Right? Yeah, And I mean obviously it's not the worst
thing because I'd rather have CD out there than Tolbert,
but also Flinoid. Man, We've had a few sightings early
in the year and he broke out. I've got calls
sometime last year asking about Flinoy. So it's it's cool, man.
I love seeing the young guys get reps. But yeah, man,

(44:30):
uh we're still in the wood works.

Speaker 15 (44:34):
You know.

Speaker 17 (44:35):
It's like I saw a dominant performance on Sunday, but
let's stack it against these panthers.

Speaker 7 (44:41):
Okay.

Speaker 17 (44:42):
Yeah, So uh, I'm always gonna have a glass of
kool Aid in hand. I'm a Cowboys fand a delusion
is delicious. But you know, let let's let's keep the
cup overflowing for good reason. So with that, uh, my
score prediction for the week, Cowboys win. They shot, he
does what he does. Pickens is gonna ball out. It's

(45:03):
gonna be thirty one to twenty, but it won't. It
won't feel even that close. The Panthers are gonna get
a garbage time touchdown thirty one twenty. And my my
dual agent, my double agent for the week who played
for the Star, Near and Far, the bulletin board man
himself stories on rico' downell. I remember him in Hard

(45:24):
Knocks putting a contact in his eye, and it was
a really freaky, grotesque shot of him putting a contact
in So anything you got on him, man, And with
that go Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (45:35):
Talk y'all later, all right, you know, I mean the
play that I remember the most, he got lucky because
remember in Pittsburgh, Jalen Tolbert had that touchdown to win
the game, but he had the fumble. He's having a
nice game. He caught a touchdown in that game, but
then to go win the game, he gets hit, the

(45:57):
ball pops out, Dak jumps on. It might have been
a better play because the Cowboys now are back at
the four or five and that kind of opened up
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (46:06):
More for Tolbert to have that touchdown.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
But can you imagine what would happen if, you know,
he would have fumbled that right there to win the
game or lose the game. Really, that's one that I remember.
I also remember him with a kickoff return against the
Steelers back in twenty twenty. I don't even remember what
number he was wearing. It wasn't twenty three, but he

(46:30):
had a he had a kickoff return wasn't even supposed
to go to him, and it went like seventy or
eighty yards. That was a kind of a crazy game
because they were undefeated and Garrett Gilbert, your starter for
the Cowboys. I was just a forgettable year, But I
do remember that. All right, let's go to Jeremy in
Salt Lake City, last caller.

Speaker 7 (46:49):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 15 (46:50):
Nick?

Speaker 4 (46:50):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (46:51):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (46:52):
Good? Two days in a row?

Speaker 6 (46:53):
No, I'm not eleven, but you know, I kind of
rare for me too.

Speaker 4 (46:57):
You got to start it somewhere.

Speaker 6 (46:58):
Let's go right right. Yeah, A couple of things like
earlier we were talking about or heard you talking about,
like the tackles and guiding, and then I guess what
I want to add to that, And I brought it
up on the spaces last week, was like, how comfortable

(47:19):
or how I'm not nervous at all about our depth
on the offensive line. And I can't think of a
time when I can think back with this team that
I've ever felt like that, you know. I mean, we're
going back and you know the Chaz Green game, right,
one guy's out, our whole line is awful, right, Like

(47:43):
It's always kind of been that way. Remember when we
had Brian Waters and then he got hurt early in
the season that twenty thirteen season, and our offensive line
was looking great and we get this guy from Kansas City,
he gets hurt, and all of a sudden the wheels
fall off again, right, you know, go back to Torrin Tucker.
Like there's such a history with this team of having

(48:04):
you know, five really good linemen and then nobody to
back them up. So I feel more comfortable with this line,
you know, and its depth, and I have and I
can say at least twenty twenty years, you know. Yeah,
So that's one thing fun about you know, this team
is that you know, everybody's talking about making trades and
making moves, Like I'm enjoying the trajectory of this team,

(48:27):
watching it get better and better every year. And that's
a shout out to Shaddy, because every week this team
grows in a different way, and that's the type of
teams that really end up doing something in the end.
So yeah, I'm with you. Let's let's see where this goes.
Let's enjoy watching these guys get better, watching this young,
you know, team kind of grow and gel together, and

(48:48):
I think, you know, it's just going to keep on
getting better from here. And my prediction for the Cowboys
game fifty to nothing going to be my prediction every
week because I love my Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (49:03):
No Cowboys, all right, that'd be fun, all right, Jeremy,
thank you for the call. You know real quick on
that the offensive line is playing, is playing great with
all the injuries these guys are coming in. But I
think it's you credit a lot of people too. I mean,
I think you have to credit Dak. I think you
have to credit the wide receivers because and tight ends,

(49:23):
because that's not having to sit there very long. He's
getting the ball out quick and and by doing that
means these guys are getting open quick, they're breaking tackles.
I mean, that's the thing about Ferguson. It's a quick
little route, but it's still it's it's not a running play.
It's it's five, six, seven, eight yards and you can
just keep everything going forward. So, uh, the offensive line

(49:46):
when when they're here to move people back there doing
a good job. The backups have done great. Nothing against
them because I think they've been amazing. But I also
think I credit this Clayton Adams, Connor Riley the O
line coach, and of course Shot as well Dak for
kind of building this offense to the point where they
don't have to put a lot of pressure on anyone

(50:08):
except the defense because they're they're kind of they're not
keeping the ball too long and right now it's working.
There's gonna be some games where it's tough. There's some
better defenses coming out here that they're going to face it.
I think Carolina's got a pretty decent defense too, So
we'll see how things go. It's only we're only five
games in, but so far, so good, especially knowing that

(50:29):
you're going to get some of these injured guys coming back.
That's assuming they keep their job, and you know, we'll
find out if that is the case. But again good
problem to have, all right for Chris Beam, I'm nick
even will do it tomorrow. Cowboys storyline.
