Speaker 3 (00:08):
Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
This is Cowboys storyline presented by Gillette, the official shave
of the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Here's Nick Eatman.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (00:25):
Welcome to Cowboys storyline presented by Gellette.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
I'm Nick Eatman.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Let's talk little Cowboys football. We are into December now
for sure, playing four games to go, still in it.
Cowboys are still in this thing thanks to the Chargers
who knocked off the Eagles in overtime Monday night. Just
for a second, I don't know if anyone else did this,
but just for a second, I started.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Thinking, because what happens if the Eagles tie?

Speaker 5 (00:54):
Then you know what, we have a factor that is
and so it was actually probably pretty favorable for the
Cowboys because if they're going to do anything here, then
you know that they're going to have to If they
could tie, it would go down to division record. I
know the you know, Eagles have already lost to the
Giants and would probably have to lose another division game

(01:18):
as well.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
So it didn't happen like that.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Cowboys still one and a half games behind, uh the
Eagles now The Eagles do have a favorable schedule for sure,
raiders Washington twice at the Bills. The Cowboys are going
to have to win out. But you know what, we're
in it. We're in it here, We're still in this thing.
We're still going to talk about it. That's something you
know that that's what we wanted at this time of year,
and so that's definitely what where the Cowboys are. So

(01:43):
we'll talk about it. Eight eight, eight, eight, five, five,
two to nine seven. Let's start off Greg and Sacramento. Greg,
what's up?

Speaker 6 (01:51):
Hey, I'm doing Nick good?

Speaker 4 (01:52):
How are you all right?

Speaker 6 (01:53):
I'm doing good. What you mentioned the tie because I
thought that same to for a quick second tie? What
is that gonna do? But but but anyway, uh, you know,
I know I gotta be quick. So I just want
to say, you know, never give up on the season.

Speaker 7 (02:07):
You never know.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
I mean, I know we had that gauntlet right there,
and we beat two out of those three tough teams.
You know, the Lions always play us tough. But at
the same time, I feel like Washington always plays the
Eagles touff. Yeah, So I think those those games they
have coming up against Washington will be very very interesting
to watch. But I mean, like you said, we're not
out of it, so uh just want to you know,

(02:30):
post of the Life of the Cowboys nation is just
let everybody go. Don't give up on the season just yet.
You know where we're still We're still in it by
by far, so like yeah, and we're still rolling. You know,
we we can still we can still kind of win
some things. I feel like in the post union, you know,
with the defense, we can get it together. But that's
all I got for you.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Thanks, Thanks, appreciate it. You're right, I mean, you can't
give up on anything yet. And and and you know
Washington typically does play the Eagles well. But you know
that being said, they're going to play the Cowboys well too,
so you want them to keep playing. And they did
not do that last week. They lost on Sunday to

(03:09):
the Vikings thirty one to not think so, had the
Vikings turned it around, have has Washington quit? We'll see,
you know, you hope not on that. You hope not
on either one really, but that's kind of the way
it is. Let's go Sergeant Sue and Fort Worth. Sergeant Sue.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (03:26):
EDI's everybody?

Speaker 8 (03:27):
How you doing?

Speaker 9 (03:27):
Nick?

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Good.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
How are you.

Speaker 8 (03:29):
I'm doing great?

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Man?

Speaker 7 (03:30):
I hate the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (03:31):
Okay, so real quick question. Who is one player that
you feel has been playing maybe below expectations that we
really need to get back to par for this team
to really have a shot at running things during the
final stretch.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, go, yeah, picturious.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (03:46):
For me, it's Ferguson. He brought swagger, he brought attitude
to the offense. He was dacked security blanket, so to speak.
And now he's somewhat of a liability. He hasn't lost
all the fumbles, but he's had little problems with you know,
holding onto the ball. You know, I mean, he just
hasn't really been that guy. So I was wondering, you
know who you thought maybe and who the other listeners thought.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
That's a good question.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Yeah, you know, I I mean, Deron Bland is not
playing as well right now? Is I thought he would?
You know, that's that's one guy turping.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
You know, I.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Expect you expect a big player two here here and there.
I guess he had one game, was that where he
had one? Maybe Arizona? No where he had one you
know where he made a play over the middle.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Now they won that game.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
I think it was Philly, Philly where that he had
a big play right before halftime, and uh, you know
that that was big. But I mean as far as
in the return game goes, uh, but that you know, Ferguson,
you're that's not that's not a bad pick either there.
So I like that when you know the Ferguson kind
of it sort of is what it is. I mean,

(05:02):
you know, with him, he's got to hang on to
the football. He's fumbled some here. He had a huge
fumble against Detroit. He had a big fumble against Philly.
It just went out of bounds. They got very fortunate there. So, uh,
he's made some plays. He's not the most dynamic player.
You know, he doesn't have the best average in the world,
but he does have some catches career high and catches

(05:22):
and he's gonna, you know, that's gonna, you know, keep
going up probably, So I think he hits a big
incentive if he hits eighty five catches and so he
should be right around there as well. But Ferguson's a
good answer there, And I went with Bland. You know,
expectations in the season. I expected way more from Kenneth
Murray and so but you know, now you kind of think,
all right, well, that's probably what it is. Dante Fowler.

(05:44):
I expected a lot more from Dante Fowler too, So
you know, let's it's probably somebody on the defensive side
of the ball. For being honest, you know, Donovan Wilson, Hooker.
I mean, I think we all expected more from Diggs.
He's been he's been hurt and out, but yeah, you
expected more from that too. So all right, I'm a
in Napa, California. I'm ay, what's up?

Speaker 9 (06:05):
Hey, what's up? Nick? Just man, I know I've been
beating the drum about the linebacker situation, but do you
see you see Wilson getting the green dot and just
playing all of the game and moving Murray to special
teams and then also is Digs just an automatic plug

(06:27):
and play guy when he comes back like or is
he going to play this week? And that's about it. Man,
Thanks for everything that you do, and I'll keep on
trying to call in Let's talk to cowboys. You and
Chris have a good one.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Thanks.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Amy, appreciate that I'm done trying to guess on Trayvon Diggs.
I'm just this is what I know. If he plays again,
he'll wear number seven. That's it. That's what I got.
That's what I got for you. You can't get this
anywhere else. That's That's what I know about Trayvon Diggs
is he'll wear number seven when he does play again.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
If that happened other than that meant, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
I really don't, and I wish, you know, I know
I'm supposed to, but I just don't. I just I mean,
I don't know if he knows. I mean, he thought
he was gonna play and and it didn't. It didn't
work out. I mean, there are some people that have
told me he'll never play again, and right now he hasn't.
I still feel like there's a good shot for it.
But I'm just done trying to guess on the on

(07:23):
the Trayvon Diggs situation and what's happening and why he's
been out and what injuries you know, was the was
the one that kind of set him back the most.
I hope hope he comes back, you know, because I
think he really does help this team. And ask for
Logan Wilson, you know, I that's why they traded for him, right,
I mean, they traded for him so he could get
in there and play, and I think most people thought

(07:44):
it would be a lot.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Sooner than this.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
But this will be his fifth game since he since
he got here, and and you know, everything was moving
really fast, you know when he first got here, and
it's just been game, game, game. Now you get a
little bit of a break. I think this might be
a good time to do ask for Kenneth Murray on
special teams. I don't know if that's the best answer either,
but you'll see some changes on special teams for sure,

(08:06):
because what we saw the other night in Detroit. You
know that that basically lost from the game, just giving
Detroit so much good field position there. All right, let's
go Chris and Saratoga Springs. Chris, Saratoga Springs.

Speaker 10 (08:22):
You there, Hey, Nick, how are you good? How are
you not too bad? I just want to thank the
Chargers last night for beating down on those vehicles. Happy
about that? Yeah? I had a couple of questions and
I want your comments on him. As far as the
specialty is a kickoff, why don't we just kick the
ball through the end zone? And what do they get
the ball to thirty five when we kick it through

(08:43):
the end zone? That's one. I want your opinion on
that too, offensive line, what's your opinion on You know me,
I'm a huge brock Hoffman fan, and since he's been out,
I think our line has not done as well as
when he was in there. What are your thoughts on
putting Hoffman back, let's say, at center, moving b beat

(09:04):
to guard, and then moving Tyler Smith's the right right tackle.
I really think, I mean Tyler's I know how good
he is at guard, but I think we have more
of a tackle problem than than a guard problem. I
think Tyler could move right over there tackle division and
do a lot better than what we're what we're having
at that position right now. So those are my that's
my two questions for my prediction for the game. I

(09:27):
like the Cowboys beating the Bits. Thirty one twenty.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
One, all right, sounds good.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Thirty one to twenty one, I think, you know, as
far as kicking it off, now, I know, kick it
off like they do, they'll track, they'll catch it at
the one or two and then just go tackle the guy.
How about that? Say in your lane, go tackle the guy.
That's what they need to do.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
That.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
Go do that now, don't don't give them the ball
to thirty five yard line. That that's not what it's
designed to do. It's designed, you know. I mean the
thirty five yard line is very favorable. Obviously it's better
than the forty five, which is what you're saying. But
how about just go tackle the guy. You have to
work on it out here in practice. You know, it's
not it's not that hard. I mean, these these returnment

(10:13):
aren't cavantin interpet and they're still they're having all this success.
Stay in your lane, go down there and make the tackle.
And that's that's pretty much my take on that. Sorry,
and that's that's just plain and simple. But that's what
they need to do. It's what every other team in
the league is doing. I think there's a coaching issue there.
I think that there's a personnel issue as far as
coverage goes. I wouldn't get cute and say, oh, well,

(10:35):
just blow my hands up and I guess we have
to just kick it out of the end zone now,
thirty five yard line. No, just go tackle the guy.
All right, Let's go to break real quick on Cowboys storyline.
To be right back after this.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Welcome back to a Cowboys storyline and one of the
last callers here, we had Chris and Saratoga Springs. I
had to go to break but he had two questions.
The second the first one that he was asking was
like a lot of a lot of shuffling on the
offensive line there. I'm not a big fan of that.
I think that the coaches probably know their players more

(12:47):
than we do. I mean, I would hope, and you know,
evaluating personnel is a big part of it. But I
think that even though I don't see it that much,
I don't see Hoffman and BB being a huge difference.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
They obviously do. And and I.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
Don't think it's even down to who's who's drafted and
who isn't.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I mean, I don't.

Speaker 5 (13:07):
I don't necessarily think that shoddy and this staff does that.
I mean, I think that they're gonna play the best guys,
and I think you know, they they feel like that
that bebie is Is better, way better. Also from a
communications standpoint, just with making the calls and things like that.
Tyler Smith, I think is Is would be a pretty

(13:28):
good tackle.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
I think he's a phenomenal guard.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
And I think it's a situation just like Zach Martin,
just like Larry Allen, where you know, let's let's get
the guy where where he's, where he's dominated, let's keep
him there. You know, I'm not I'm not a big
hater on Terrence Steele. I don't think he played that
well against the Lions. But you know, I just I'm
not a big fan of of of making three or
four changes just for one especially at this point in

(13:52):
the season. All right, let's go to Chris san Angelo.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Man, how are you.

Speaker 13 (13:58):
I'm doing well? Thanks? Uh yeah, Speaking of coaching, I
just have a couple of things I was wondering if
there any other offensive coach on the staff, like Adams
or Dorsey, have they ever called plays before? Because to
that thinking, I'm thinking, maybe it'd be a good thing
to have Shottenheim or being able to focus on kind

(14:21):
of everything during the game, defense, special teams, and you know,
even I work on the rest a little bit. I
have that. And then on defense, do you think they're
just going to be a little more forgiving of coach Biebercluse,
just to give him a year and an off season

(14:42):
under its fout and hope that there's an expect big
improvement from him after that in the future.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
That's all I have better, Thank you, all right, appreciate it.
A couple of coaching questions here. First of all, my
opinion on head coaches that are calling plays. I never
really had much of an opinion on that until like
this year, and I've seen it a couple of times,

(15:10):
not just with the Cowboys, my college team's had that,
and I don't really like it anymore. I don't. I
don't think I love that. I think you can have
an offensive coordinator. He's got to be he's got to
be someone that the head coach trusts and they're they're
they you know, pretty much can finish each other's sentences.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I think that's very, very important.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
But I think sometimes it gets you in trouble when
you're the head coach. I saw it the other night
with the chiefs Andy Reid thinks that Patrick Mahomes is
going to make the play, and why wouldn't he think that,
But he put his team in danger by doing it.
And I think it happens so many times fourth and
goal down on the four, Like.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Dak he's got that.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
We run it and practice all week, Boom, it's going
to be there ferguson or pickings in the corner, and
it's not, and then you you waste a chance to
get a field goal. Sometimes it is, so I mean,
let's not say it doesn't always happen. Sometimes sometimes they
do convert all fourth down. But I just think sometimes
the head coach gets in the way of the offensive coordinator.

(16:15):
Really probably vice versa. The offensive coordinator gets in the
way of being the head coach. So I don't know
if I love that. I now changing it right now, Chris,
I don't know about that. And I mean, let's this
is the tweak season. You know, this isn't the This
isn't the head coach coming in in his first year
saying I'm not calling the plays anymore. I've got the

(16:37):
number one offense in the league and I'm not going
to call the play now. I don't think that's gonna happen.
I think maybe he's in, you know, something that you
look at maybe later on if that's something what he's
gonna do. But you know, I don't. I don't think
that's probably the issue.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
But I do.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
I do agree with you though. Overall.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
I think I like my head coach, you know, kind
of being a manager of everything more than just that.
And as far as Eberflus goes, yeah, I think Ibraflus
is gonna get them. You know, I think he'll get
another year. I think I think we saw give them
some players, and I think, you know, maybe a little
bit more time, but give them players more than anything,
and I think they'll be fine. All right, let's go
Michael Bowling, Green, Kentucky.

Speaker 14 (17:14):
All right, man, I'm gonna be kind of quick here.
But hey, I did one funny thing. I always imagine
Rob from Vegas working in like an office, having a
secretary like call you, hey, let me know when I
got storyline, and he turns out to be a phone
man just like me. That's kind of crazy. But now
I think they say, if we went out, we got

(17:39):
a forty percent chance of making the playoffs. But hey,
Jalen Hurts can't keep up with his helmets. He throws
the interception and has a fumble all in the same play.

Speaker 13 (17:51):
So I think I think we I think we got a.

Speaker 14 (17:54):
Pretty solid chance. I mean, probably won't, but I think
we got a pretty good chance.

Speaker 5 (17:59):
Well, I mean I think you know, you got to
beat the Chargers too. I mean, I know the Vikings
as first. I know that I'm not trying to jump ahead.
Gotta beat the Vikings, gotta be. But I'm just saying
the Chargers are a pretty good team too. So yeah,
you got some you got some games. I mean, the Cowboys.
You know, it's it's uphill. I mean, there's no doubt
about it. It's uphill. But you know, it's like if

(18:23):
you're playing golf, you don't it's not really it's not
a great shot. Okay, you can see it. It's uphill.
There's a bunker here and all this water right here.
But you can see the flag, you can see the flag.
Now you're gonna have to hit one hell of a
shot to get there. But at least you can see
that flag and you know it's there and and that's
that's the target goal.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
So I don't know.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
I haven't played golf in like three years, so I
don't know if that analogy hits, But seems good to me, right,
you know, because a lot of times, Believe me, I've
had a lot of shots where I can't see the flag.
I can I can see the green, it's right here,
but it's the wrong hole, you know what I mean.
I'm actually supposed to be hitting over there. All right,
let's uh, thanks for the call, Michael, appreciate that. Let's

(19:07):
go to another break here on Cowboys storyline and we'll
be right back after this.

wins in the season. I don't know if that's going
to be the case this year. I could see I
could see four or five guys making it for sure.
All right, let's go to Jeff in Salt Lake City. Jeff,
what's up?

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Man?

Speaker 7 (21:15):
Hey?

Speaker 6 (21:15):
Nick?

Speaker 14 (21:15):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (21:16):
I'm good? How are you?

Speaker 11 (21:18):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (21:18):
Good?

Speaker 17 (21:19):
I just just hearing the last call you had talking
about eber Flus and you think that he'll possibly get
another year. I know the front office wants some continuing
you know that word, but just a quick question for
you or your thoughts. We always hear about good coaches
or coordinators will adjust their scheme to the players. With

(21:39):
this defense, it seems like Eberflus wants the players to
adjust to his scheme. One issue that I have is
basically with the secondary. We have pressman corners and I
am so tired of seeing them playing ten yards off.
We drafted Revel as a pressman corner and he's playing
zone defense primary. So what are your thoughts on that.

(22:02):
We've always heard that you should adjust the scheme to
your players, but I don't see.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
It with this defense.

Speaker 17 (22:07):
Yeah, and i'd like your thoughts and thanks for taking
my call.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Nick, and you have a good day, all right, you too, well, Jeff.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
I you know, I wish I had a better answer
for you, because you're you're right. These guys, you know,
they they are especially like digs.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
And we didn't see that earlier in the season. Uh
there as well.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
Revel things a little different him coming off the injury.
And you know, I think now he still learned how
to how to play in this league, and so I
you know, I think sure he was a pressman coverage,
you know, at East Carolina in the American Conference. You know,
I mean like like he he could do that. I

(22:48):
think a lot of and that that happens a lot
with corners that that kind of moved to from any
any play. It doesn't matter you're playing at Ohio State.
I mean, if you it's going to be different when
you go to the league. And so you know, he
he hasn't seen that. These are his preseason games, so
he's still trying to figure that part out. So I
don't know if Revel is the best example there, but
you're onto something there for sure, and I think it's

(23:12):
got to be a little bit of a mix, you
know what I mean, It's not just all right, I
got to see these players and now here is the
you know, here is my game plan for that? You know,
you got you have to have a plan in place,
and I think that's what Ibraflu's does. And then you
make little adjustments here and there, and I bet you
there is some give and take to that. I mean,

(23:33):
I guarantee the players have kind of come forward a
little bit. They this is the scheme that they're in.
They need to adjust somewhat.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
And then I'm sure that that Eberflus has tweaked some
things as well to work with the personnel. So I
don't think it's just a black and white situation. I'm
pretty sure both sides have done.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
That, you know.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
But but again, I think he will get another chance,
assuming that they continue to play like they've done, and
maybe they'll have some you know, a few games here
on defense. But if it kind of keeps the arrow
moves forward a little bit, you know, knowing in the
offseason who you've got, who your your key players are,

(24:11):
you know that they didn't have that. I mean, he's
he built the whole defense for a guy that's now
in Green Bay. So I'm not saying built the defense.
I'm just saying, you know, had a plan in place.
Everybody thought that he was going to be here until
he wasn't. All right, let's stay in the state of Utah.
Let's go Ben in Utah.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Ben.

Speaker 18 (24:31):
Hey, Nick Kellory, sir, good, how are you doing excellent?
I apologize I've been able to listen to the show,
but I think what you were just talking about dove
tails into what I wanted to call on about. Just
I think some of our challenges with defense, I'm optimistic
that with some continuity we can get better over time.
I think it's hard when you change defensive coordinators every year,

(24:53):
but continuity is kind of a question I wanted to
bring up from a caller who was very passionate I
think was yesterday talking about and how Jerry is the problem,
and yeah, I always struggle with the comment of Jerry
needs to bring in a football guy, or Jerry and
Steven need to bring in a football guy. These times
have been doing it for forty years.

Speaker 7 (25:10):
Like if you just.

Speaker 18 (25:11):
Looked at a resume and said, Okay, this GM has
been doing this for forty years. He's got multiple Super
Bowl wins, multiple playoff runs, GM of the.

Speaker 19 (25:19):
Year, and also think that guy's an amazing GM.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
It also been It's like I've said the same thing before.
It's like, I need to bring this guy in. He's
done it in the NFL for thirty years, He's won
some super Bowls. He played in college. He was an
All conference player in college way back in the day.
That team won a national championship. So he's had some success.
I mean, if you wrote all that down, you'd be like, oh, yeah,
hire this guy. I mean, that's who it is. That's Jerry.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
I mean, that's absolutely who he is.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Dan, don't get me wrong.

Speaker 18 (25:47):
The last thing I'll say, I know twesdays are fast,
but I'll say this about Jerry. If I had a
gazillion dollars, I would probably do it exactly the same way.
Because I'm a passionate fan. I react emotionally. And I'll
say this last thing. Roster Jones, the man who let
me play football on his field without telling me. I
had to get off and I got to do that
with my.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
Wife and was amazing experience.

Speaker 18 (26:08):
Anyone who does that in their corner, So I'll say
that and get off.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
Okay, all right, Well then then there probably should be
a lot more Jerry Jones fans because I know every
single game there's people out there throwing the ball around
after the game. You know, totally get the frustration. Yes,
that that was a passionate call yesterday, and you know
that that's that that happens. I mean, that's people are frustrated.

(26:35):
But Jerry Jerry is GM. That's the title he has.
I think it'll be the first to tell you that
that they make decisions, you know, with in a collaborative situation.
I mean, there's a lot of people that that kind
of help with that. I'm sorry. I'm watching on NFL

(26:57):
Network here. They're showing this handshake between the Packers and
the Bears, and they've made this big deal out of
this handshake between Matt Lafleur and Ben Johnson, and I'm like, guys,
it's like twenty degrees outside and they've been out there
for like four four hours. I mean, who cares what
the handshake was? Was like, okay, cool, let's go get
out of there. I mean, the one guy's pissed, one
guy's not. I mean, man, i mean I've seen some

(27:18):
some some handshakes, that they weren't so friendly and that
one doesn't doesn't take it. Sorry to get distracted here.
Let's go from from passionate fans we're talking about.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
Let's go to Rob in Vegas. Rob, what's up?

Speaker 19 (27:31):
Hey?

Speaker 7 (27:31):
Nick?

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Hey, how are you doing?

Speaker 19 (27:33):
I'm doing good? You stop talking about Jerry. It changes
my whole money.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
I go back to what you have.

Speaker 19 (27:39):
I'm not I'm not I'm not doing it good good.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
I was about to say, Man, don't, don't revert.

Speaker 19 (27:44):
Man, no, no, I'll wait till a month from now.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Thank you, my thing.

Speaker 19 (27:51):
I totally agree with you and I we've had this
conversation before. I don't like a head coach who calls
the play, especially one like Shottenheim who's never been a
head coach. I I because what happens is other things suffer,
and what you see is penalties. We haven't fixed the

(28:13):
penalty issue since Mike McCarthy and he was a play caller.
They just you just can't focus on everything. The best
coaches growing up for me, obviously, Bill Parcells, Belichick, Jimmy Johnson,
all walk around coaches. They had their finger on everything,
and you've seen it. You see it in New England

(28:34):
right now. I I love that head coach. That was
the guy I wanted if they weren't going to go
for Belichick. I just think I just think, yes, Kansas
City did it, but they also had the best quarterback
in the NFL. You know, now you're starting to see
certain things happen. But I just think it's a it's

(28:56):
it's it. I don't like it. I just don't like it.
And I agree you can't change now. You got four
weeks left, and I don't think he's ever gonna change.
I think Jerry, for whatever reason, he likes that lately
ever since you know, uh, ten years ago, twenty years
or he he those are the guys he wants for,
you know, whatever reason.

Speaker 10 (29:16):
I don't know why.

Speaker 19 (29:18):
Uh it was great. Last night I was watching Philly
and I'm like, because if Philly wins, yes, say your
season's over. So it just gives us, it gives us hope.

Speaker 7 (29:30):
You know.

Speaker 19 (29:31):
Do I think it's gonna hurt me? I don't know,
Probably not good. The odds have stacked the gatches. I mean,
obviously I live in Vegas, arts or a big teams,
but but you don't know, you know, Philadelphia looks like
they're falling apart.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Can that team win a game?

Speaker 5 (29:45):
I mean seriously, can that team go cross country to
Philly and win a game?

Speaker 19 (29:51):
Well, what's what's crazy about Philadelphia is so the guy
that is bitching and moaning not getting the ball. Yes,
ever since they tried to get him the ball, they've lost.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
They've lost, I know, and he probably is. Okay, I
don't know this. I don't know this, but I just yeah.

Speaker 19 (30:08):
I always thought Jay, you know, Jalen hurts to me,
he is not a great passer. I always gave him
credit for winning. He would win because he would sacrifice
his body. But he's not doing that this year. He's
not running as much. I mean, he ran like crazy
against US, but in the first game, but he's not
running and I don't know if he's beat up or whatever.

(30:29):
He made a great throw on that third downplay. I'm like, oh,
he had to go. I don't know what he was
thinking when he was trying to squeeze that ball and
at the end, but I'm glad he did. But listen,
we got to take care of business against Minnesota. You know,
I don't know what Minnesota is. I know they got
a great wide receiver. And I agree with you about
dron Bland. That is my most disappointing player because with

(30:53):
this secondary being not very good, if I could have
one guy that I could count on to put on
maybe the best wide receiver of the other team and
just take away some part of the field, I could
help the other side. And right now, who do you help?

Speaker 9 (31:10):
You know?

Speaker 19 (31:10):
Right so, but listen, I'm just happy because it makes
Sunday night something. You know, Just give me something and
make it something I don't want. We're going to play
for pride, or we're going to play for it is
or you know what we're playing for next year. It
doesn't work that way. You don't carry over anymore free agency.
There's so much turnaround on these teams. What you do

(31:33):
is ue has nothing, no bearing on next year. It's
that team. It's not like the nineties Cowboys where you
could see them building. It was the same team coming
back every year, right, you know, so listen, just as
a fan, just give me another week, all right.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
All right? Good stuff.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
And that's kind of what they've done, you know, thanks Rob,
They've kind of done that, they've kind of you know,
extended it, and it helped that the Eagles lost that game,
and that's that's kind of what you want to do.
I mean, you wish the record was better, you know,
but it is what it is here and and but
but you're you're in December. There's four games to go,
and the Cowboys know exactly what they they've got to do,

(32:13):
and you know they're gonna need some help along the
way too. They can't just go win these these four games.
I don't think that's gonna work unless these other you know,
teams implode, but I don't feel like they will. All right, Uh,
looks like the lines are open here. This is probably
going to be the shortest show that we've done because
I'm not just gonna sit here and talk to you

(32:34):
guys and and and and come up with stats and
all that. So we, uh, let's go to break one
more time. Let's go to break, and then we'll go
in and I wrap it up. All right, be right
back here on Cowboy storyline.

Speaker 1 (32:46):

All right, welcome back to Cowboys storyline. Here, got a
couple more minutes to go. We do have another caller
on the line, so let's go to him.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
Jr. And Avondale Arizona Jr.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
What's up man, Good morning, Deck, How are you doing today?

Speaker 14 (34:20):
I'm good.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
How are you hanging in there? Hey, I'm with Rob
kind of said, well, I was gonna say. It gives
us hope for another week. I'm glad the Egles lost
and probably sad that I am almost as excited when
the Egles lose i am when the Cowboys win. But
it was a good night this game. I'm just a

(34:41):
little bit about that Vikings because they have Aaron Jones
and it seems like every time he plays us, he
just wears us out four three touchdowns. He's kind of scary, guys.
I'm opening the defense will step up and stop Aaron Jones,
and I believe that. I believe the Raiders are going

(35:01):
to beat the Egles, so so we I can't tell
you why, or I don't know if Picket gets in
there instead of Gino, but I just have a feeling
the Eagles are gonna lose again. And that's all I got.
And I couldn't get the show earlier, so I didn't
know what you guys were talking about. But have a
great day. Can go Cowboys?

Speaker 4 (35:19):
All right? I think appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (35:23):
You know, that would be pretty wacky if that happened,
if the if the Raiders did you know, did that
and and went to went to Philly, and you know,
maybe maybe if they do change their quarterback a little bit.
Pickett was in Philly. I think he played against the
Cowboys last year, so that would be uh, it would
be great. And and he's I think he's a you know,
Pennsylvania guy. Played it Pitt so be homecoming, sure, why not.

(35:49):
But you know the Cowboys have to take care of
their their business too, and and you know, we'll see
what happens, you know, on that Sunday night, you know
when they they take on the Vikings and and they'll
be a lot of games happening that that day. But
you know they can't they can't worry about that. I mean,
like like you said, Aaron Jones has been you know,
tough on the Cowboys for sure. And he's a good

(36:09):
player that you know out of the backfield that you know,
he's not Jamar Gibbs but Jamier Gibbs. But what we
saw in that game is a versatile player that that
can that can catch the ball out of the backfield
and run it. And he gave the Cowboys fits. Now,
Aaron Jones is not is not that that type of guy,
you know, I don't think there is anyone in the
league like that. But but he's still, you know, you productive.

(36:30):
And they got Jefferson and and and then they just
pitched a shutout, so we'll see. I mean, this is
this is the toughest challenge for the Cowboys because it's
the next one. But you know, like we said all
show long, they have a shot because they're still in
it here. It's four games to go, and that's all
you could really ask for them. All Right, It's been
a good show, guys, appreciate all all the calls and support.

(36:51):
We do it every day at ten am on Central Time.
So for Chris Beam, I'm Nick Eatman. We will see
you next time on Cowboys Storyline.
