Speaker 6 (00:48):
It's a little harder to do after watching a Monday
night game, you know, Thursday night.

Speaker 7 (00:53):
Thursday night talk about that game.

Speaker 8 (00:55):
Amazon and me were having disagreements. Yeah, I sent it
to the ladies. It was a little glitchy for Meat.

Speaker 6 (01:03):
Glitchy for the Washington offense.

Speaker 7 (01:05):
Jesse was not Christy got bars.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Okay, it wasn't glitchy for Green Bay though the transition
at times it was well.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Although the word came out this morning confirmed that Jaden
Reid their top receiver from Toler broke broke his collar bone,
and then Washington a big blow with Austin Eckler, who
we remember all those great years with the Chargers with
the torn achilles. So very costly, uh. Game for both
teams in terms of injuries and the star players.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yeah, well huh, it's gonna be a lot of fun
watching the other Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Let's let's switch gears go if you Cowboys play. They
take on the Giants on Sunday at noon.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
We have a special guest joining us, Shirley Giants team
host also CBS Sports h Q contributor as well.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Girl, how you doing?

Speaker 9 (02:06):
I'm doing well. Thanks so much for having.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Me, no problem.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I know you have a lot to get to so
we'll make it quick, but I'm going to start with
you know, do you have a quick injury update? I
know I saw Wandelle Robinson ankle limited in practice.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Darius Slayton with a groin limited.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
They've been out with their starting tackle and Andrew Thomas
as well.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Do you have kind of any concerns at all.

Speaker 6 (02:28):
On that injury report.

Speaker 9 (02:30):
Yeah, you know, it sounds like the way that Brian
d Able is talking about it that he's not particularly
concerned about those two. And then of course Andrew Thomas,
you mentioned he didn't practice on Wednesday, back on the
practice field Thursday, ext to be back out there today.
They're easing him back. Of course, that list Frank is
a tough one, and he had the list the list
Frank injury the surgery in October, so he's still kind

(02:53):
of working his way back tough, not rushing that one.
As far as the receivers, you know, with one day
on the ankle, Malik dealing with the backs, kind of
just pacing it and making sure that Relik especially just
game ready. But it doesn't sound like the coaching staff
has a lot of concerns about those guys being available
on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
I agree.

Speaker 8 (03:12):
I just had a quick question about what's happening in
your guys' cornerback room a little bit. I know Deontay
Banks was assumed to be the starter, it looks like
there's starting to be some competition with Cordell Flat a
little bit.

Speaker 7 (03:24):
What's happening with your CB two situation.

Speaker 9 (03:28):
Yeah, I think that was kind of a competition all
throughout the off season and spring and training camp and stuff,
and you know, the coaching staff has talked about how
having that competition has really elevated the play of both guys,
of both Tay Banks and Cordial Flat. And you know,
earlier in camp, Flot was dealing with an injury, so
Banks got you know a lot of playing time in

(03:48):
that first preseason game. Then Banks was dealing with an injury,
so Flat had a lot more playing time and opportunity.
And I think both of them played themselves into consideration
for that starring spot for the CB two role. And
I think now it looks like they're in a more
situational consideration, right, like what situation bodes best for which
player in which in which would consider who is on

(04:11):
the field. But you know, last year, Taybanks would admit
he had a little bit of a sophomore slump. He
you know, didn't finish plays the way that he would
have liked to. He wasn't kind of on top of
it the way that he needed to, and that kind
of opened the door for flot to come through and say, okay,
let's let's give this competition an opportunity. But again, having

(04:32):
both of them competing for that spot that spot has
really just elevated both of their play. I think from
an objective standpoint, you're watching like, wow, okay, both of
them are actually putting a little bit more out there
right now.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
I'd like to stick at cornerback with Paulson Adebo. And
one reason, Madeleine is he's a local guy from northech
Stacy's from Mansfield, which is just south of Dallas, and
went to Stanford, New Orleans Saints Now with you guys,
he traveled with Terry.

Speaker 10 (04:59):
Mc lauren in week one.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Are you thinking that they may have him travel again
this week with the Cowboys? And do you think that
he would travel with a CD or with pickens.

Speaker 9 (05:11):
That is interesting because it's tough with what the Cowboys
are doing. Kara McLaurin clearly the one receiver with a
paycheck he really got recently in Washington, and they really
other than in some pre set motion situations, Wilson was
really his kind of mirror in that it would be
interesting to see how they use him. Week two, do

(05:34):
they repeat that or do they stick with it again?
You know, he's, as you mentioned, a new addition to
this Giants roster, really incredibly talented player. I still can't
get over the fact that he had a broken leg
last year and is already back out there like you
wouldn't even notice. So, but with one week of tape
in the books, and you know, obviously the coaching staff
isn't quite putting their game plan out publicly for that consideration,

(05:57):
it's hard to tell what their plan would be and
who he would shadow if if he does. But I
wouldn't be surprised if they travel him. But but again,
you know, they're still kind of evolving, and there's gonna
be a lot of changes. I mean, if you look
at the tape and what we saw week one, yes,
the Giants defense was a bright spot, but there were

(06:18):
still a lot of opportunities for the Giants defense to
be a little bit better. So I would anticipate some
changes and that might be one of them.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
Yeah, and if he does travel, kind of pick your poison, right,
you know, right, yeah, doubles you know, uh, take out
CD and try and double pickings or you know what
if that will be interesting. I have one more question
about your defense, and that is, McFadden, what's one of
your linebackers to injury. How do you think they may
try and compensate for that, because that's a pretty big

(06:47):
blow in Week one.

Speaker 9 (06:49):
Yeah, that's a huge blow and you hate to see
that for a guy who has been playing so well
lately and is such a key part of that linebacker corps.
The good news for Michael McFadden, of course, if you
watched the game, he was carted off in an air cast,
I think everyone thought that it was a lot more serious.
Ex rays were negative, so it's not a break, which
is a huge positive. He still expects to miss several weeks,

(07:11):
you know, and so that's not great, But it could
have been so much worse, as we saw in the game.
Darius Muissau, the second year linebacker out of UCLA, kind
of stepped in in his stead. But you know, Jaden
Daniels targeted him right away and got to pick a
touchdown to Zach Ertz over the middle. So they're gonna
have to see how they can better prepare for that.
I wouldn't be surprised too, because there's been a lot

(07:32):
of conversation of hey abdual Carter was only on the
field for fifty percent of the snaps. How do you
get a dual Carter on the field more with Brian
Burns and cave On Thibodeaux and increase that pass rush.
Perhaps they put a dual Carter at inside linebacker the
way that he did at Penn State for a couple
of years before switching to edge. You know, he has
the ability to play a lot of different positions, because

(07:54):
we even saw on Week one he made some special
teams plays, So that could be an option. I don't
think think that's going to be the option, but I
think that you could see I wouldn't be surprised if
we saw that sprinkled in every once in a while.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
I want to go back to this offensive line, Madland obviously,
because that seems like, you know, one of the weak
points of the team right now. With James Hudson, he
had a bit of a rough out in last week.
What do you what do you anticipate the plans are
to maybe help him out over there or just to
set this offensive line up to have more success moving

(08:30):
forward in this upcoming week.

Speaker 9 (08:33):
Yeah, the offensive line really did struggle, and especially against
a lot of the stunts and twists that we saw
Washington pull on them, they just weren't They weren't reading it,
they weren't anticipating it appropriately, and especially you know, then
you see a lot of defenders get into the backfield,
which affected rus. It affected the ability to get the
run game going. The communication I think just needs to

(08:54):
be better in terms of what they are seeing as
a unit and how to adjust as a unit. But
you know, James Hunts is a very good player. He's
not new to this league, and he's very capable, and
you know, we've seen some good things from him, and
maybe it was just a bad outing of a day.
I do think that this is going to be a
point of emphasis that they are going to be harping

(09:14):
that that has to be stronger. I mean, the offensive
line was getting touted for such great play during the preseason,
right that first preseason game, fifty one pass attenpt not
at Seck. Oh my gosh, how great. But again, this
is against a very manilla basic defense. When you kind
of level up to the level of defensive schematics that
we see in the National Football League, that has to

(09:35):
be something that's continuing and it you know, Week one
was definitely not the performance that I think any of
those guys are proud of though, until Andrew Thomas is
ready to get back. James Hudson is a left tackle,
and maybe they'll see about, you know, down the road
making changes, but right now those five are the five
until Andrew Thomas is healthy, and so it's just I think,

(09:57):
you know, they all know it's got to be better
than week one.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah, I want to ask you about go back to
the receivers, real fast, malade the Neighbors specifically, and of
course everyone saw, you know, the sideline outburst.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
But he did, you know, tell the media, hey, like,
it just was about my performance.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
I wasn't happy about the way that I played.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
And that was something that kind of similar that happened
with you know, the Dallas Cowboys. See Lamb having four
drops against Philly and you saw him come in, you know,
get on the joke machine, take some accountability.

Speaker 9 (10:26):
Right.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Have you seen that from Malik Neighbors in terms of
you know, looking forward to kind of elevating and improved
from last week and what specifically have you seen?

Speaker 6 (10:37):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (10:37):
Yeah, Malik is such a competitive guy that you want
to see that, right, if things aren't going well, you
want one of your best players to be frustrated. You
want him to not be just okay with that. And
I think it was portrayed obviously because you see him
going to the sideline, you see his frustrations with Davil.
But he did things the right way. He went and

(10:59):
spoke to the coach. She didn't, you know, curse of
its teammates or speaking frustration to the quarterback or any
of that. He went to the coach and said, hey,
how do we figure this out. He actually joked about
it with the media later this Week's saying he's got
an NBF, which is a natural B face. I don't
know if I can say that on this show, but whatever,
instead of you know, the classic RBF, it's just an NBF.

(11:21):
He said, that's just what my face looks like. Maybe
I need to smile more, but you see when I'm frustrated,
and that's what it is, and you know that's what
you want. That's one of the strengths of any good
team is not just like accountability, but player driven leadership
and the players holding each other accountable and the players
expecting more from themselves and each other. Is a good thing,

(11:45):
and so that frustration when everyone can see that the
players aren't going the way that they wanted to, that
things aren't happening in a positive way. You don't want
a player who's just going to be okay with that,
and so I think internally there's not you know, it's
not like some sort of big feud or big toxic situation.

(12:05):
It's really just, hey, let's let's let's do better.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Madeline, do you think that there'll be a package for
Jackson Darter or that he would get maybe even more
than a series or two this week? The reports going
into week one were that there was, you know, some
certain packages for him, and yet he didn't play in
week one. What do you think is going to happen
with quarterback at week two?

Speaker 9 (12:29):
My impression is that the reports were accurate but misconstrued.
So Brian Dable whenever, you know, going into a game,
he puts together game plan for Russell Wilson right as
a starting quarterback, but also recognizes that Jackson Dart has
a different set of skills. So there were plays that
had been installed in the case that if Jackson Dark

(12:52):
QB two is going to come into the game, those
plays are also available, those plays are also installed. Those
plays are also to his strengths. I don't think that
it was intended week one to just kind of create
a self inflicted quarterback controversy by putting both quarterbacks on
the field and saying who does better. I think it
was more my understanding of what you know, Brian Dables'

(13:13):
approach is and always has been, is kind of curating
situations to the best skill set of the player. So
had Jackson Dart needed to go in for a second,
whether it was an injury to Russell Wilson or a
shoelace that needed to be tied, they would have plays
at the ready that the team was familiar with and
ready and installed to go. I don't think that down

(13:35):
the road that that's out of the question. I just
don't think that that's going to be something that we
are seeing at this point in the season, because you know,
we're hearing all those questions and it's yes, Russell Wilson
is very clearly the starting quarterback right now. Should a
situation call for a change at that quarterback or or whatnot,

(13:55):
Obviously Dart is the number two. But I don't know
that they're going to get cute with it. I don't
know that we're going to fee similar to what we
saw in New Orleans with Taysom Hill sprinkled in at
this point in the season until they figure out the
baseline of all right, let's get this offense working the
way we want it to with Russ and Company.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Yeah, I'm glad you clarified that, because going into week one,
the way they I think a lot of fans were
taking it is like a Taysom Hill kind of thing
where it comes out there yeah, a series or two and.

Speaker 9 (14:23):
Think and I think some yeah, and I think some
you know, media members might have interpreted it that way too,
But in the conversations that I've had with Dable, like
clarifying that and stuff, it's very I think it was
a sentiment that was perceived and in the wrong direction.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Got it, got it all right?

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Well, Madeline, we know you have a lot of things
to get to. We appreciate you so so so much
for joining the show and hopefully we get a chance
to have you back on.

Speaker 9 (14:47):
Thank you so much for having me and looking forward
to a good game on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
A right, thank you, thank you, Thank you so much. Ladies.
A lot to unpass the ladies. That's sick just talk
about you know.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Obviously the last thing she mentioned clarifying the whole Jackson
Dart situation. Yeah, I mean, what do y'all think about that?

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Well, that's crazy.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
I think If I'm Jackson Dart's mama, I'm fine with
wait in a few more weeks until Andrew Thomas comes
back that offensive line is a little more solidified before
putting my baby out there.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
That's fair.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
It's like a mom right right, Yeah, I mean, I
mean part of it though, is like it does sound
like there is some internal difference and who wants him
to start and who doesn't want him to start.

Speaker 10 (15:40):
I snooped around a little bit. I wanted to ask her.

Speaker 5 (15:42):
But yeah, it's from reports, it seems like there's folks
who are preferring that they start Dart, and then there's
folks that are more comfortable with Russell Wilson. Now, we
understand that this coaching staff is do a die time
for them, and so we know that it's very common
in the league for them to go with the veteran
to be more comfortable to do those things. But I'm

(16:04):
really curious if at some point in this game they're struggling,
if they decide to go with that dark and be
able to and see if they can get a little
bit more from him. And that's not to say that
Russell Wilson is still not capable. It's more so just
will they speed up the process or make that change
as a betterment for the veteran of their team and

(16:24):
the morale.

Speaker 10 (16:25):
Of their team, which is very important.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
So i'm i'm I think in this game, depending on
how it goes, we can see some changes.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (16:32):
Well, the only thing I didn't get to ask her
or would have asked, is the confidence in Russell Wilson
at this point, because.

Speaker 7 (16:39):
Even when they announced he was coming to the team.

Speaker 8 (16:41):
I feel like for this team that you know, they've
been struggling with the QB position for a while and
now they have that veteran. But I wanted to know,
like how much confidence there was when Russell Wilson came
and then what it looks like, you know, one weekend,
this is a Giants fan base that might be at
the same frustration level as the Cowboys fans basis well,
and I to your point, like, is this a if

(17:04):
it goes so wrong, break the glass moment?

Speaker 7 (17:06):
Which it doesn't seem like. But I also wanted to
see where those I've.

Speaker 8 (17:09):
Seen those reports too about you know, front office and
head coach having differences on who wants out there, and
I feel like she'd have more knowledge of the truth
the level of truth of that, absolutely, but it has
to kind of play into mind. Like you said, we
have a head coach who's on a hot seat. That's
very clear. So if I'm the head coach, do I
want the veteran, like you said, to be more comfortable

(17:30):
or do I want to show this franchise like, hey,
we have a fresh face. This is a direction that
we're going. We're gonna have a couple bumps and the
bruises here in the beginning, but there's a future with
this QB and there's a future with me if I stay.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
So I kind of see both on that. Yeah, well
I believe, Oh sorry, no, I believe. Shotty was actually
asked about that earlier this week and he had kind
of said regardless, like we're preparing for both. So whoever
they put out there, of course, it'll be Russell Wilson starting.
If they do give Jackson Dart a chance over the
course of the game, I feel like this team will

(18:03):
be prepared.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Well, they really don't have a choice, so there's that.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
But all right, we're going to take our first break
here on Girls Star Boys Stock presented by and Visit Line,
and up next breakdown a little bit more of this
Cowboys offense and how they can attack this Giants defense.

I feel like we don't have enough energy right now,
and I just I don't like it.

Speaker 7 (21:05):
Can we can we wait?

Speaker 9 (21:06):
Up?

Speaker 6 (21:07):
There?

Speaker 5 (21:07):
We go huh, I'm awake.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I'm thinking, mind it, thank it all right.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Well, the Cowboys take on New York.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
You obviously saw, you know, this defense really struggle the
Giants defense in the secondary. In particular, there was a
step that actually found shout out to the next gen stats.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
They'd becoming in clutch.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
But the Giants defense allowed fifty nine point one percent
of their deep passes face to be completed. That was
last season, the highest rate by a defense in a
season since twenty sixteen. They also allowed two hundred and
twelve passing yards to Washington. Just talk about, you know,
the ways that the Cowboys offense could attack this secondary
and which would be the biggest weakness on the secondary.

Speaker 6 (21:53):
Again, I'm just I'll go back to what we were
talking about with Madeline. Is is I'm just going to
be real interested to see if they take their top
corner a debot and try and match him up with somebody,
and if they go ahead and have him travel would
you have him travel with CD or would you have
him travel with Pickens? Question out there, which would.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
You do either?

Speaker 6 (22:13):
Because if you well, if you if you have him
travel with CD, then you're assuming that he can can
you know, shut down CD and double George, or do
you have him travel with Pickens, travel with George and
then you can double CD. I don't know.

Speaker 10 (22:33):
I think you better on.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
I think most people are going to try, especially with
you know, Pickens, and Dak's still trying to build that connection.
I think you you aimed to shut out CD, I think,
And furthermore, listening to his interview the other day, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
I don't know that.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
I feel like he obviously feels a way, he feels
like he needs to redeem himself prove a point. I
think the biggest weakness of Nicole to this coing up
against a Dak Prescott is the fact that, you know,
the giants feel like they don't trust their secondary a
whole bunch of shit, so they run a lot of
zone outside of even when they even when they let

(23:12):
Ala depot Aladevo shadow, the rest of the guys are
playing zones. So to me, that lets me know that
there's some there's you know, they're still trying to get
comfortable and stuff like that, and Dak Prescott loves that.

Speaker 10 (23:24):
Dak Prescott loves zones.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
And also to the wide receivers that you have in
the Pickens in a CD in a fer, those guys
know how to be patient and find those windows in
those zones, and that's something that Washington did not only
that it forces that defense to tackle and you know,
Dallas has guys that have yack ability, and so it's
it's really kind of to me. To me, it's not

(23:47):
that they can't cover their secondary I don't think any
of them are as fast as CD. But it's the
fact that it's the tackling that I think puts a
lot of stress on them as a defense to be
able to be able to deal with Dallas's ability to
have run after catch ability, because that's what that's what
the commanders took advantage of last week.

Speaker 10 (24:07):
What you got break.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
Yeah, no, I agree with that one hundred percent. I
think the George Pickens DA connection is still something needs
to be proven, if you will. I mean, four Targets
has kind of say so in itself compared to CD's
thirteen and listening to CD yesterday even Dak the way
I just laughed is how they laughed when they said, like,
is their trust loss or is this something that they're

(24:28):
like you'll see. That's literally how both of them ended.
It was like they like chuckled them, like you'll see
like CD has. It feels like a CD revenge game.

Speaker 10 (24:35):
I know, I'm scared.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
I feel bad, he said, wasn't he mad as somebody?

Speaker 10 (24:39):
You bo he?

Speaker 4 (24:40):
I think he was asked about him and he said
he hurt us something for that.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
Yoh, he said he hurt me.

Speaker 10 (24:45):
He tackled me and he hurt me.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
And I was like, like all barnacles not. They're being
blood in the waters there.

Speaker 8 (24:52):
They're acting like CD's going like one hundred and fifty
percent this week at practice and just being you know,
like he he's not letting that go.

Speaker 7 (25:01):
He said he couldn't sleep. I believe me too, the
vengeance in the high.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
But yeah, they're gonna if if they're what I'm thinking,
they're gonna shut down CD first and the one on
one with cde Lamb. Who see he's gonna win that
ninety percent of the time against some of the proven cornerbacks.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
In the league.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
He's done it basically his whole career.

Speaker 8 (25:23):
And then I think it's just dangerous because we like
we really didn't see what the Cowboys could really do
with this offense in Week one, Like I think Shody
has another game plan. I think he's gonna give this
team more opportunities and I just feel like that ball
is going to go downfield a lot more than when
we saw in Week one.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
That's just the feeling that I got if.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
It gives enough time, you know, Yeah, the Giants, because
the exactly, Yeah, they commit their resources to the front
line and the ass rush, and you would think that
that would really really help a defensive you know, backfield
that doesn't the resources that are committed to the front.
But what was happening was when they were getting pressure

(26:05):
and their Week one loss on Jaden Daniels, he'd run
the ball. He's just like sixty eight yards rushing. Now
we know, oh Dak, you know, he's you know, going
to run more this year than maybe previous years. But
we don't want him taken off the way Jaden Daniels
was taken off in Week one. At least, I don't,
I mean take off some you know, but have some discretion.

(26:27):
So yeah, I think that, yeah, I hit him with
the deep ball, but you've got I mean, the O
line played well for the Cowboys last week and pass
protection didn't allow a sack. But it's going to be
another tough test against this defensive front to make sure
that Dak has enough times for those long shots.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
Especially with the I mean, say what you want to say,
but we all know, like I don't know, A yeah,
we all know that Abdul Carter was heavily compared to
Michael Parsons coming out of the draft. His ability, his ability,
he's him being a linebacker and doing some edge things
stuff like that.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
If the Giants are opting to move him to linebacker.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
I do also express I expect for him to rush from.

Speaker 10 (27:06):
The linebacker position as well.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
With this Dallas interior last week, they did have some
issues Tyler Booker BB just some of those exchanges on
the inside with some of the stunts, And so I'm
looking at if Abdul quarter is rushing from the interior
up to A gaps and B gaps, how the interior
of the Dallas offensive line handles that, how they communicate well.

(27:30):
And even so when you talk about the pressure that
I think Dallas is gonna have to run, I expect
some d passes, but I do expect for them to
kind of slowly chip away and then hit them in
the mouth. I do think that this defensive line is
a defensive line that you have to wear down, attack
their edges similar to me. Have a similar game plan
to me. Brian Burnes is a little bit more active

(27:52):
and willing in the run game, but Kavon Thibodeau, you
can't catch him slipping. You can catch him getting caught
caught inside. Take advantage of those guys in the run
game and try to wear them down. So once you
get to the end of the game, you want to
start throwing those haymakers with these deep passes, hopefully to Pickens,
Lord Jesus please uh. Then then you know that, to me,

(28:13):
is really gonna open up your offense. I do expect
Bree as well for them to throw some things that
maybe they haven't seen. I think this is gonna be
a slow burn when it comes to how Shoddy decides
to implement the different tools on this in the in
this offense.

Speaker 10 (28:27):
As the season goes on, let.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Me ask you something, who on this offensive line do
you feel like has the biggest challenge at everybody.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
It's probably probably be by Secondly Burns.

Speaker 7 (28:42):
Yeah, that's Secondly Steal.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Yeah, that's going to be I'll be clutching my pearls.

Speaker 10 (28:48):
Not the Pearls. I don't got nothing.

Speaker 7 (28:51):
I know you do though, I yes, yes, I know
she does finance.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Uh no, I'm sorry, keep going bad. No, no I don't.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
It's a good point. They can they can bring they
can bring the pressure from different areas. Oh so when
you have the pressure coming up, what's the thing we
always say, the where the quarterback hates the pressure most
is coming up right in front of him, right in
front of his face. And they can do that with
Lawrence and then or even if they take up Duel
Carter and do some micro stuff with him and have

(29:21):
him come up inside. But yeah, Burns and Thibodeaux from
the outside, that is going to be tough for Terrence Steele.

Speaker 10 (29:28):
This what if we see a screen see love it?

Speaker 5 (29:31):
What if we see because when you have their defensive
line like the crash down, like they like to really
get upfield, and one of the best ways to deal
with people like that is to fall behind them, you know,
like make them have to chase you.

Speaker 10 (29:43):
And so I always see it.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
Yeah, I always see a screen this week, maybe a
successful screen will you know, show itself?

Speaker 6 (29:52):
Maybe don't see.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
That many of those?

Speaker 4 (29:54):
How much? Also can Jake Ferguson play a factor in
this game.

Speaker 6 (29:58):
Oh oh, get well, especially with their jury situation at
linebacker as well. So yeah, and I think that, you know, Ferguson,
there were a couple opportunities that he had last week
that one was a lot to nearly got beheaded on
one of them.

Speaker 10 (30:16):
But yeah, well, yeah, crazy enough.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
There's moss Out out of UCLA, the linebacker that filled
in last week for macfatt and had the pleasure of
seeing him at.

Speaker 10 (30:27):
The Shrine Bowl when he was here, And.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
This is a gentleman that actually like his coveragibility is
something that stood out the whole Shrine Bowl and the
practices and stuff. So I hearing that Jaden went at him,
you know, right away, and seeing Jay can go at
him right away, They're gonna test him. But I'm just
saying that that is something that he actually is not
bad at. And if Dallas opts to test him, why not.

(30:51):
I do think it's going to be important for to
get involved in this game and just to establish that, like,
you know, to get them in a rhythm. You know,
there were some misplays they left Dak and ferg admitted
that they felt like they maybe left some plays on
the field last week.

Speaker 10 (31:05):
How did they bounce back?

Speaker 5 (31:06):
And really, honestly, my thing is, you gotta play the
Giants this week. I'm not trying to.

Speaker 10 (31:13):
Short Traine the Giants. You need to take them seriously.
They have talent on this team.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
Selfishly, though, I'm looking forward to the other weeks and
I need you to put some stuff on film. So
these other teams that are you know, a little bit
different from a talent perspective, I guess, are ready or
respecting what you put on tape. I'm trying to have
people have to think about multiple, multiple things.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Now.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
I understand like the ambiguity of people not knowing that shot,
not knowing Shoty's offense and stuff like that is valuable.
But put some stuff on tape for people to have
to respect and have them have to game plan for
multiple things. Because that's what we saw last night with
Green Bay.

Speaker 7 (31:50):
That's what I was gonna say.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
They got so many pieces yes, I said, so many
guys to yes.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
And I think with this offense for the Dallas Cowboys,
you get.

Speaker 8 (32:02):
Caught up in the CD lamb and the George Pickens duo,
but you forget how deep this offense really could be. Really,
excited to see Jake Ferguson kind of get back to
the Jake Ferguson he was prior to last season. Obviously
that was down season's dealing injuries. You can argue a
bunch of things, but I liked yesterday when Dak said
one of the things he likes about Schottenheimer and how

(32:23):
he's doing his play calling and the differences that he's
noticed already is that shot.

Speaker 7 (32:27):
He's not afraid.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
And he did say last week like, hey, you kind
of haven't hit Ferguson in a while, Like he literally
said that to him. And I think when the game's
going and you have your number one and you're trying
to get Pickins involved, maybe you do forget about Ferguson.
Bigger target. You can hit him in the slant, just
mix things up a bit.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
So I thought that was interesting that when Dak said
that yesterday, and then maybe Shoddy sees what we see
from you know, it's easy to you know, be a
spectator from up top in the press box.

Speaker 7 (32:57):
And be like, well he's open.

Speaker 8 (32:59):
You don't always see on the field, but Schoenheimer's not
afraid to go in there, like, you know, let's try
to hit somebody else this isn't working or they're expecting that,
you know, switch it up. So I think that's what
makes this the potential of this offense. So deep in
watching Green Bay really maybe sait like, okay, yeah, and
I need.

Speaker 10 (33:15):
To put some stuff all the time.

Speaker 11 (33:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Well, we talked about the potential of this offense, rere
hinting towards that we got to see the potential of
this nickel corner and who will be stepping in at
the absence of Drawn Bland obviously hearing from Matt Eberflus
yesterday and he addressed some personnel changes. We're going to
break that down of the next young girl Stambolvestock.

And he has NBC studio again, Brionna Aldridge, Nicole Adgison,
Christy's Scales, Aisha Morrison, and as we mentioned in the
last segment at Eberflus did speak to the media yesterday
and I know we kind of touched on who the
possibilities were at Nickel Corner without Deron Bland. He'll be
missing a couple of weeks hopefully potentially. And Christy, you

(36:39):
obviously saw some personnel changes there. But you know, the
first Eberflus was asked about Bill.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Zion and both Ready.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
He had good things to say about both, but specifically
Ready Stewart. He liked that he's got really good quickness,
ball hawking ability, and you talk about his time at
Troy he had nine interceptions and three pick sixes and college,
so obviously it is there he's got a little bit
more experience than Zion Childers. But what have you seen
in practice from Ready Stewart, Christy.

Speaker 6 (37:09):
Well, you know back in camp he did get a
chance to play inside last week. And the thing is
he's on the active roster with Zion Childress, I expect
him to go ahead and be elevated from the practice
squad just to have an extra person to if he
could be the backup to Stewart if Stewart does in

(37:29):
fact start there in the slot at Nickel. Stewart only
played four snaps last week in the opener, and they
were all on special teams, so we didn't see any
work in the secondary with him. But there is some
familiarity with Iberflus's scheme because of the time that he
spent in Chicago when Flus was still with the Bears.

(37:52):
In fact, Ready only has one game entering this year
besides last week playing some special teams. He has only
one regular season game experience and it was in Chicago
for Flus, so he wears number twenty seven. I think
that what's going to happen. Yeah, sure, you're going to
have a Trayvon Diggs will be outside one side, and

(38:17):
you'll have kaye Elam on the other, and most likely
it'll be Ready Steward playing in the slot. But the
question is do we feel like Trayvon can carry the
full load on the outside played twenty seven snaps last week?
If he doesn't, you know, they are not sure that
he could play sixty sixty five snaps, which would be

(38:38):
about the normal number of defensive snaps in the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see number twenty five
out there tri Quoiz Bridges and he, in my mind,
would be the backup outside and then ready on the
inside with possibly Zion Childress being elevated to be your
backup on the inside.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
Which is malefadge is long, he longed, his arms is long.
I mean ready still better, Uh be ready to be ready.

Speaker 12 (39:07):
I mean.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
I definitely did not want to be that corny this morning.
Uh yesterday, I didn't want to have that spirit. But
but no, I do think like he does have a
little bit of a task this week. Yeah, I mean,
don't sleep on Wandelle Robinson. He was huge for them
on third down last week.

Speaker 10 (39:27):
Uh, he had five receptions for forty eight yards three
first downs.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
This is a guy that they will maneuver in the slot,
they will use out the backfield. He's kind of their
version of mc turpin. I wanted to ask Madeline about
him because he's been around for a while. He's been
on this Giant team for a while, but he's always
kind of been this Swiss army knife and that's it.

Speaker 10 (39:47):
But I wanted to it.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Feels like in this this year because of the needs
that they have and they're trying to look for explosiveness.
He's getting more of an opportunity to be involved in
this offense. He's their number two receiver come out of
week one and they saw success with it. I believe
that that's something that they're gonna continue to attack and
try to maneuver with him.

Speaker 10 (40:07):
So with Reddy Stewart, it's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Not only having to come up and tackle, but also
having to deal with you know them kind of motioning
him and moving him and stuff like that.

Speaker 10 (40:16):
How does he deal with that?

Speaker 5 (40:18):
And more importantly, man in that nickel spot does require
a lot of communication and stuff like that.

Speaker 10 (40:23):
How does he get the information to the other guys?

Speaker 5 (40:26):
So I do I do feel like And then also
to THEO Johnson, I don't know if Reddy Stewart is
gonna line up against him.

Speaker 10 (40:33):
With THEO Johnson can rumble. Got to watch him in Penn.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
State and in the blocking game he can rumble, but
also too as a receiver, he will dip his shoulder
and run through you.

Speaker 10 (40:43):
So the secondary as a whole has to tackle.

Speaker 5 (40:46):
I'm looking at Reddy Stewart to just play sound and
to keep things in front of him the best that
he can, because Windale will get behind you and make
you pay with his jack ability.

Speaker 6 (40:55):
And the other when one Dale's not in there. They
put elite neighbors in a lot in last week. Yes,
they saw a stat I think it was from the
Athletic that last year Malik lined up inside like twenty
four percent of the time. Week one against Washington, he
was inside thirty seven percent of the time. So that's
a very different body type than.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Going get that fail.

Speaker 10 (41:17):
Absolutely, So Yeah.

Speaker 6 (41:18):
Be interesting, a lot of moving chess pieces, I think
with ye Mike Kafka and Dayball and what they're trying
to do.

Speaker 8 (41:25):
Yeah, And I wanted to kind of mention some things
that came up when they were asking Matt e Reflus about,
you know, Treyon Diggs. Like you guys mentioned, it feels
like it's not being forced that he'll have to take
more snaps, because it seems like.

Speaker 7 (41:37):
Eb Reflus was leaning towards he was going to get more.

Speaker 10 (41:39):
Snaps regardless this week.

Speaker 8 (41:40):
So that part makes me feel good because you never
want to see anyone get rushed out there.

Speaker 7 (41:45):
But I liked the question I was asked.

Speaker 8 (41:46):
It might've been Joe Hoyt from Dallas Warning News, but
he was basically saying, you know, when you have all
these injuries in the group, do you kind of lean
towards zone or do you feel more comfortable leaning towards
zone and not switching things up because you can kind
of hide or disguise some of those newer pieces in there.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
And he said, at the end of the day, zone
at some point you're gonna have to cover. It doesn't matter.
That's how you know, that's how zone works.

Speaker 8 (42:11):
So I thought that was important because then I'm thinking
of a race word who's going to have to be
challenged in those moments because that's who you're going to
naturally pick on if your offense on the other side
looking at That's what they That's what everyone team. That's
what all the teams are gonna do us too, Like
when we vice versa, who you throw out there? Who's
a new guy who's unproven and Stewart is him Patrick

(42:32):
Patrick report of.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
Something will have the important and he said, I guess
Brian Schttenhammer was one of five on one of five
point three the Fan.

Speaker 10 (42:39):
He does his weekly show there.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (42:41):
He said the Cowboys planned to use some safeties to
help with the nickel cornerback position in the absence of
dorn Bland. Interesting with the foot one, ya, Thomas got
some reps.

Speaker 10 (42:51):
There in the off season.

Speaker 6 (42:52):
Yeah, play him down and.

Speaker 5 (42:56):
Cannot get him get Mark bip Oh, okay, can I
get a Marquis Bill? I that because that is that
to me?

Speaker 10 (43:06):
Like and this is again no, no to one Thomas,
But I thought one.

Speaker 5 (43:10):
I thought that Marquis Bell the week that I was
out there at training camp was one of your best
dbs the full time.

Speaker 10 (43:17):
So this is interesting.

Speaker 7 (43:20):
Also excited.

Speaker 6 (43:24):
One game is practiced yesterday for personal reasons. So yeah,
more you know, more reps in the.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
Week for And that's what happened during training camp is
that one a went down with the was it it
was just a lower leg injury for what what was it?

Speaker 10 (43:38):
I thought it was a person but it wasn't a
growing I don't know.

Speaker 6 (43:41):
They never say it was it was growing or hamstring.

Speaker 5 (43:44):
I thought, yeah, because he was doing that, you know,
but the growing and Markey's Bell stepped in and in
at rams practice. Yeah, so that's interesting. So I wanted
to you that's because we're talking about it.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
Go ahead, and that kind of brings me to my
next point, because Christy made a good point of how
they use Milik neighbors, how they use Wandale Robinson both
lining them up in the slot. But now that you know,
Shati says, hey, we're gonna use some safeties to help.
Could this be just match up situations of how maybe
Ready Steward get some opportunities if you're going to have

(44:18):
your a Wandale Robinson who's a little bit less physical
and smaller than a Milieue neighbors and then you kind
of put in a Marque spell. Uh, I mean maybe
he sion shoulders, but most likely a safety like he's
already mentioned or Ewan Ye, maybe in those situations when
there is a Laitue neighbors. So could this be maybe
like a situational type of thing.

Speaker 6 (44:39):
Absolutely, yeah, Yeah, it's all going to be based on
matchups for sure.

Speaker 10 (44:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:43):
Yeah, I like them, you know, brainstorming trying to figure
out what's best. It is a lot like again, like
that Nickel spot is a lot to man and and
we've been saying it on this show. We've been saying it.
I know you've been saying We've been saying it. The
loss of Jordan Lewis. Is is big, and it's gonna
be something that is gonna take some time to you know,

(45:04):
not feel the impact of him being gone that significantly.

Speaker 10 (45:08):
So I like that they just trying to you know.

Speaker 5 (45:11):
Super glue stuff together to figure out what they're gonna do.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
And you got you know Bell who played linebacker, who
obviously and switched to safe.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
You you know, he's done a lot of things.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
His roles has changed in the last couple of years,
but he's played multiple positions, so the IQ is obviously there.
It'll be interesting to see how the Cowboys plan to
uh the takeaways those safeties and.

Speaker 10 (45:34):
Get the takeaways.

Speaker 7 (45:35):
It'll be fun.

Speaker 4 (45:36):
This is gonna be great.

Speaker 5 (45:37):
I got excited just now, did you. I like indinuity.

Speaker 6 (45:43):
That's crazy like the puppet Master, and we'll moving all.

Speaker 5 (45:46):
Of the well in fairness too and Zimmer system and
dan Quinn's system.

Speaker 10 (45:51):
The safeties were intricate like.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
And not to say they weren't in but the big
nickel and all that stuff was something that gay guys like.
When you said twenty earlier, I thought about jay Ron
Curse and how his career was revived here in Dallas,
that that big nickel opportunity and being able to do
those things in the slot.

Speaker 10 (46:10):
It really gets guys.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
On the if you don't have a place for them,
it can get guys on the field. And Marquis Bell
is a guy that went from playing almost every snap
the year before to go in and playing obviously at
the injury last year, but playing very little last year
because he wasn't really a scheme fit in that sense.
So for him to get an opportunity, for Kanye to
maybe get an opportunity, I just like that the game
has that you can do that stuff within this game

(46:34):
and give guys a shot down the field, you know.

Speaker 8 (46:35):
And that's what a lot of the guys have said
this year compared to last year, is why they like
ib Reflus is because he looks at, Okay, what is
this player good at, what is his specialty and he
makes it work instead of the other way around. And
I think that makes the biggest I think'st of the
confidence and I think that's why the projection of what
this defense can do, even though again the takeaways they
lost that battle in Week one, there's still a lot

(46:57):
of optimism when when you're talking to these coaches is
that this is a group of guys who can get
that three takeaway goal at some point in this season,
sooner rather than later.

Speaker 6 (47:06):
Because against that that Giants office line that struggled in
every phase. Yeah, they should be able to get a
lot of pressure on Russell Wilson and there should be
some balls there for the taking for the ball hawks
in the secondary.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
All Right, who's y'alls farmer's dog dog of the game.
Huh yep, who's gonna be y'all's farmer's.

Speaker 4 (47:26):
Dog dog of the game.

Speaker 7 (47:29):
I was just about to do that. We be a
little bit better offense. Defense doesn't matter, no, just one
one player.

Speaker 6 (47:38):
I'm gonna go pickings, Okay.

Speaker 8 (47:39):
Come on, I feel like I have to go seeedee
Lamb because that man laughing he had watching.

Speaker 10 (47:44):
Seed like that attitude.

Speaker 7 (47:46):
He's about to be disrespectful and I can't wait.

Speaker 10 (47:47):
Yet attitude a little bit. I'm gonna go with mary
Leah foul.

Speaker 5 (47:50):
I think he's probably itching to get back on the
field like after like that one last week, and you know,
he a little bit crazy, and so I'm really I'm
really looking forward to seeing him get back on the field.
You could use his speed at the second level and
his attitude at the second level this week.

Speaker 6 (48:06):
Yeah, so let's uh win the coin toss defer kick
off and let Marris set the tone again opening blast.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
On he drugged that poor man, drunk that poor man
by his man, I said, he's crazy, indeed.

Speaker 6 (48:22):
Literally, So who's yours?

Speaker 4 (48:24):
Dang, I would have the answer.

Speaker 5 (48:26):
I want you to get lefted out.

Speaker 10 (48:27):
Thank you appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (48:28):
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
Dante Fowler someone who struggled to get pressure last week,
really struggled in general, that whole defensive line. But I
feel like he's going to come back. Of course, have
some opportunities to maybe uh get some sex on there.
But yeah, I think this defensive line is going to
definitely take that step forward and Dante Fowler is going
to have a great game.

Speaker 12 (48:49):
I like that.

Speaker 6 (48:49):
Yeah, that's a good one.

Speaker 7 (48:51):
Hopefully we're one and one the next time.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
That'd be great.

Speaker 6 (48:53):
We sit at the table, John know this is the
thousandth regular season game and yes, boys, Oh I didn't
see that. That crazy huh. This is the Sunday will
be the one thousandth regular season game in Cowboys history.

Speaker 7 (49:06):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (49:06):
Since they started teeing it up in nineteen sixty.

Speaker 5 (49:09):
Well, I feel like it should be more than it.

Speaker 7 (49:11):
Well, it doesn't come thousands a lot.

Speaker 6 (49:13):
Right, you know, back then they didn't play sixteen games
a year, you know, I mean it kind of Now
they're seventeen. But that doesn't include playoffs in preseason of course.

Speaker 4 (49:21):
But yeah, don't do you.

Speaker 7 (49:23):
Count to a thousand. Well, we're gonna be go ahead.

Speaker 6 (49:25):
In at our disk, Harry, and on Monday, Ayisha will
review all one.

Speaker 5 (49:32):
Bye y'all, y'all literally make fun of me.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
All right, it's a great Brianna Aldridge, Christy Scales, Aisha
Worris in the quadges.

Speaker 4 (49:39):
And we'll say all back here on Monday.

Speaker 1 (49:43):
She's been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and the
