Speaker 5 (00:37):
Welcome into Girls.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Talk Boys Talk, presented by Invisi Line. Here in the
SWBC studio, we back Baby Caprian Aldrich, Jess Navares, we
got Aisha Morrison.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
My name is Nicole Hutchison. Ladies, how y'all doing?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Hopefully?
Speaker 6 (00:52):
Boo?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
We got there.
Speaker 7 (00:55):
It is.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
Like, are we forgetting No?
Speaker 8 (00:58):
It sounds good to be back here.
Speaker 7 (01:00):
Yeah, yeah, Oh my god?
Speaker 5 (01:03):
What is happening? Are you okay?
Speaker 7 (01:07):
It's me okay right there?
Speaker 5 (01:10):
All right?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Two prices in games down the Rams Baltimore and a
lot of things to assess, and we are gonna call
today's theme. I thought about it, right, I was like,
what clicks?
Speaker 5 (01:24):
What the helly? Because it could be good or bad.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Right, We're gonna start off inside of the ball first segment,
break down defense in the second segment, and we're gonna
go with Joe Milton just you know, obviously still a
y'all figured.
Speaker 7 (01:39):
Out out, just like the Cowboys are figuring out.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
All right, It's fine, great Joe Milton. Uh, still a
lot of things to figure out, specifically with him in
terms of growth. You know, I think that people do
forget that he's not had a lot of NFL game,
real game experience, but he's certainly hitting it now. But
just talk about Joe Milton. He's now got his first
(02:06):
two NFL preseason reps. Thoughts on him and what he's
kind of put together so far, and Jess Holico to
start with.
Speaker 7 (02:14):
You look, I don't know what everyone was expecting. We're expecting,
like Dak two point zero to be flying out of
the gates with these livetime, real reps from Joe Milton.
But it's a slow burn process here. I mean, when
you look back to how the Cowboys have even gotten
(02:35):
in their quarterback situations in recent years, Tony Romo never
supposed to be the Cowboys starting quarterback, Dak Prescott never
supposed to be the Cowboys starting quarterback. You've always kind
of struck lightning twice when it comes to the quarterback situation.
It doesn't just happen overnight, and especially for Joe Milton, who,
like you said, Nicole, two games in. Yeah, there's a
(02:57):
lot of kings to work out. He's not having his
read options, he's taking his first read. His eyes are
giving up a lot, a lot of what his game
plan is. And guess who was taking advantage of that
fully the Ravens looking at where his eyes are. They
were rushing the gaps and trying to get to him
because his eyes were giving it away. That comes with time,
That comes with a lot of live time game practices.
(03:18):
On top of crowd noise, Nicole, I'm not sure how
loud it was in there, but that could also play
an aspect. So for me, I'm giving him grace, but
that doesn't mean both things can't be true. I can
give him grace but also be worried about the Cowboys
backup situation, and I'm both at this point.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
All right, Sorry, Brie, Simon nang, Okay, that's fine, that's well,
she would like that.
Speaker 9 (03:43):
It's very Simon says, I feel like Nicole said it
off top. He doesn't have a lot of experience. He
has one regular season NFL game under his belt. I
think there's kind of what Jess said, there was a
lot of maybe unfair expectations of a Joe Milton when
he could actually do. When you're an Oxnard, we're not
sharing the you know, balls being thrown around that are missed.
(04:07):
We're showing the good stuff, right, the exciting stuff, the
down the field stuff, him shooting balls sixty seventy yards
down with ease, him talking about, yeah, my longest throw
has been ninety yards, and you know that's exciting to hear, right,
But we're not showing the bad stuff.
Speaker 8 (04:21):
We're seeing the bad stuff now.
Speaker 9 (04:23):
So I don't think it's anything honestly different than what
I saw when I took over in that second half
in Oxnard. I think it's a lot of what you
see on his college tape, honestly, And he struggled.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
In New England.
Speaker 9 (04:36):
There's a reason why he was available to come here
after New England took come up. Those are all facts.
I also think it's maybe frustrating from a fan standpoint
because it's like it kind of feels like what happened
last year. You bring in Trey Lance, you give him
very limited opportunities. He has these couple preseason games and
he's not Dak Prescott, all right, now what Well, now
(04:57):
we just gave a fourth pick for him. Now he's
on another team where he's kind of thriving right now.
I don't know if anyone's keeping up with that. And
that's because they're developing him. He's got the experience. But
I don't want to see that happen with Joe Milton.
I think Joe Milton, I'll stamp it. In a couple
of years. I think he could be a starting quarterback
for another team. I think he has capa.
Speaker 8 (05:16):
He has qualities of a QB that cannot be taught.
Speaker 9 (05:19):
It's just in you and I think there's other qbs
that wish they could do what Joe Milton can do.
But it is, you know, I don't like to say
I don't know another word but concerning, but you know,
it's it's the simple stuff that he can't do. It's
just like when he was blitzed and it turns into
a safety.
Speaker 8 (05:34):
It's like he never saw it coming.
Speaker 9 (05:37):
A couple getting out of the pocket, taking a couple
of steps, making that slant throw. He struggles, but then
he can sling it down the field to Jonathan Mingo
like it's nothing, So I think the potential is high.
But yeah, I think it's also looking like we're gonna
have three quarterbacks that we're gonna have to figure out
which is gonna take away from other positions. And that
part is probably frustrating but definitely not fair to just
count out Joe Milton. But Joe Milton is giving what
(05:59):
he's been what he's been showing us.
Speaker 10 (06:01):
Yeah, I thought that you, especially Nicole, made a good
point about the fact that you know, there's a lot
to take into consideration with the playing time and things
like that. And then let me also say to fans
and football folks out there, we have become very microwave
when it comes to development in this league, specifically from
the quarterback position. There's an expectation that these guys come
in and they're ready, and then you listen to some
(06:22):
of the better you know, some of the legends you
look up to and Tom Brady's and those guys, and
they're talking about the lack of internal development and the
timing and all of those things. So I think that
comes into play as well when we talk about the
quarterback position as a whole. Some of your favorite quarterback
set behind somebody for a year, two years some of them,
and so the expectation for them to come in and
(06:42):
automatically just be this sharp guy that can read, that
can read the field. Also to college football, college football
is significantly different. There are some more similarities now, more
spread offenses and things like that, but there's a constant
back and forth the NFL adopting college and vice versa
and stuff like that. So I want to mention that
about the position in itself now in regard to him,
(07:03):
it's a lot of mechanical issues. So where the feet
are married to the upper body, so he's drifting in
the pocket, so that means he doesn't have a steady platform.
That means he's not setting his feet and making throws.
He's he There are times where he's a bit of
an upper body thrower, and that's why you'll see those
balls float on him.
Speaker 11 (07:19):
He has the upper body strength.
Speaker 10 (07:21):
And I remember talking to him at camp and asking him,
how do you stay disciplined in your mechanics with how
talented you are, and with guys that can just flick
the ball without having to use their hips or anything.
How how do you tell yourself to stay you know, grounded,
and that's something he was open with me, and that
he's still working on that internal clock and telling himself.
Speaker 11 (07:40):
I do think that it was hard.
Speaker 10 (07:42):
It's been hard to watch, it's been hard to you know, navigate.
But my last point will be is that Nicole, she
tweeted about the fact that you know, we expected for
this office to be vanilla, but bebe.
Speaker 11 (07:55):
It's in his freshest form. Yeah, it's I don't know, like,
what is it is?
Speaker 4 (07:59):
This don't want to give up too much and I
you know, and it's an awesome point.
Speaker 11 (08:03):
No, it's an awesome point.
Speaker 10 (08:03):
And I know I heard a shot he said an
interview that you know, that's an advantage for him, and honestly,
when you're going against a Philly that may be the
only advantage to to have going into that game right now.
Speaker 11 (08:15):
So I get it.
Speaker 10 (08:16):
But for that offensively, the stuff that you need to
do for a guy like Joe Milton, the motions, the shifts,
those give them information that allows quarterbacks to decipher what
defenses are doing. He's not being able to get that
information as well, So I think that plays a role.
But yeah, he has a ways to grow. I agree
with Breed that he has the natural talent. Now he's
(08:37):
gonna have to break some of those habits because some
of it is some of it is teachable, but some
of it is habit. So how willing is he to
break those habits is what we're going to be seeing
in the future.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
It's crazy you bring that up, because I got I
got a chance to talk to him yesterday and asked him, like,
you know what, how has this like simplicity of you know,
running things simple kind of hindered you a little bit
in terms of your performance.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
And he brought that up and he said that, you know,
like things like that, the.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Motions, the shifts does help me in terms of making
my decisions and keeping my eyes and my footwork, you know.
At the same time and sou he said he's gonna
be a little bit more intentional this week and kind
of getting that right. He said also something with you know,
like learning the place like something that's been a very
difficult thing for him. So again it's gonna take time.
(09:23):
But you know, unfortunately, Dak Prescott, which I'm knock on wood,
we don't want injuries behind you here, but I mean
it's it's a true fact that you know, Dak hasn't
been healthy, you know what twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (09:37):
Twenty twenty two, twenty twenty.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Four after week nine. Uh, but so you need that
security blanket for a quarterback to come in and fill
those shoes if something were to happen to Dak right now.
You have Joe Milton, you have Will Greer. Ladies, I've
got to ask you.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Know, where's y'all's confidence level in both of them?
Speaker 7 (09:54):
I want to I want to add on to your
point real quick, Nicole about Doub's not being healthy, because
here's the thing. If you don't set up the run
for your quarterback, that means inevitably he has to be
in motion more, he has to escape the pocket, has
to be a little more mobile. In turn, that puts
him at risk higher risk for injury than he would
be if you had a solid run game going into
the season set and ready for him. And do we
(10:16):
know if that's the case yet?
Speaker 12 (10:17):
No?
Speaker 7 (10:18):
Is it likely that it's probably going to take time? Yes?
And another point is he hasn't taken a live game rep.
Speaker 11 (10:25):
In sincerity last year in a minute.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
So not only is Dak working with a new offensive
scheme again, having to kind of relearn the playbook, get
George Pickens involved in the mix, get that chemistry going
with him, you know, get your tight ends involved a
little bit more in the passing game, gain that trust,
gain that I guess chemistry with that room as well.
But you also just have to remember, like historically, Dak
(10:52):
takes time to shake off the rust after not having
snaps during the preseason, and you know what, most quarterbacks will.
That's why these week one, week two, weeks three games
are a little slow setting and not actually telling for
what you're gonna see for the rest of the season
for these quarterbacks and these offenses in general. But you know,
to your point, Nicole, I just wanted to make sure,
like we emphasize, Dak has a lot of things stacked
(11:14):
against him already going into this game, Eagles game Week one,
considering you're playing the defending Super Bowl champions, but you
also now have to worry that if the worst case
scenario of him getting hurt again does happen, who takes
that lead and what does that do for your season?
Speaker 8 (11:33):
With the how many backup quarterbacks playing last year, it.
Speaker 11 (11:36):
Was a no, no, no, ye get to the middle.
Speaker 10 (11:45):
It was more than I think we've seen in recent years.
I have to go find the exact number. But even
with that being considered, ladies like the seasons are longer,
guys are game banged up. I do believe that the
backup quarterback position has become a little bit more important
as yes, it's become a little bit more glamorized, has
become a little bit more important that you do have
(12:05):
a guy because there are is we are saying it.
Last year we saw an influx of injuries at the
quarterback position, So I think that might be why fans
kind of have some of this angst too, because of
the things we've seen it so kind.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Of season, at least sixty six quarterbacks started at least
one game, and then this number includes both starting quarterbacks
and those who stepped in due to injury.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
And to be fair, I think to have a successful offense,
your backup quarterback, to your point, Aisha, is vital because again,
you need a quarterback that one can just jump in
easily to that offense. I'm talking chemistry, I'm talking knowledge
of the playbook. I'm talking you know, trust from his
other teammates that he can sling a ball just like
his starting quarterback. Right. So for me, it's also kind
(12:50):
of interesting to evaluate Joe Milton and Dak Prescott because
they're two different quarterbacks at two different phases in their careers,
and Joe Milton I think has somepe to his game
that Dak Prescott doesn't have, which is okay and vice versa.
But at the end of the day, I think Joe
Milton kind of has to strip down to the basics,
figure out new habits to get back to, I guess,
(13:14):
playing comfortably and having fun, as Seany would say, and
from there figure out how he can work into a
Dak Prescott centered offense. If something does happen to Dak.
Speaker 9 (13:25):
I feel like the biggest thing when I look at
the situation and a lot of people maybe are considering
because Dak looks good.
Speaker 8 (13:31):
He's saying he feels good.
Speaker 9 (13:32):
Remind you when we were talking about Michael Parsons and
why he was on his side is because he said
that he has a different type of position. He can
get nicked at any time. He's he's literally protecting his livelihood.
And he said myself, for what position I play, I
have the luxury where people are going to be a
little not softer, but they're gonna when when you have
a sixty million dollar guy, m h, you're gonna protect
(13:53):
him a little bit more.
Speaker 8 (13:54):
Right, we haven't seen Dak really what he looks like
in that live action taking hits.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
Oh, even if he feels good when he gets out there,
especially against the Eagles Week one for the first time.
Like jessaid, we haven't seen him play since last year
in November. How is he gonna feel, how he's gonna look?
And I think at this point from what we've seen,
it kind of feels like the Cowboys are gonna have
struggles winning football games if you throw in Will Greer
and Joe Milton, who we're all saying doesn't look ready
(14:21):
to be a backup QB in the NFL at this moment.
So at that point do you start shopping around, because
I don't know if I'm comfortable with Will Greer leading
this team in October for a couple of games until
Dak gets to where he needs to be In the reality,
like Nicole said, you know Dak has he's injury prone,
But then if you look at the other side, I've
(14:42):
heard people say, well, the facts are if Dak gets hurt,
that's the season and its draft.
Speaker 8 (14:47):
We're gonna be talking about draft.
Speaker 11 (14:48):
That's that scene though, Like what's happen shopping? We talking?
Speaker 9 (14:52):
It ain't bebe Cleveland got six quarterbacks they just got
floating around and the they.
Speaker 10 (14:57):
Got are air winner team that will remain unnamed.
Speaker 9 (15:02):
We will not, right, But I'm saying, just like, just
like we talking about the fact that there was injuries,
would you say sixty six quarterbacks suited up last year?
If they got one, you think that they gonna let
them go either?
Speaker 11 (15:15):
So I think what type of shop and we talking.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Are we talking about?
Speaker 9 (15:18):
Are we talking about what I've been talking about? Proven
veteran back of Higby who can get it done? Like
not saying I agree, but like you know, people have
thrown out the Teddy Bridgewater situation and Jameis Winston situation.
Can he Pickett is floating around like doing you know
what I'm.
Speaker 8 (15:34):
Saying, I know, I get what you're saying.
Speaker 11 (15:36):
I'm definitely it just.
Speaker 9 (15:38):
Feels like but how we felt when Dak went down,
it was felt like and even the confidence and Cooper
Rush being proven before it felt like the season was over.
Speaker 11 (15:47):
Most teams do them have to.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
Be intimidated by your backup quarterback. That's another aspect of
this is.
Speaker 9 (15:54):
Like just when, but I don't think these two could
keep is what I'm saying, Like, I think it's other
teams if and if you look around the NFL, I
think the Cowboys have one, probably not the They're at
the bottom of the situation of the backup. So what
I'm saying is I don't need Wilgred to be Dak,
I don't need Joe to be I just need them
to feel like, Okay, we still got Seed Lamb, George Pickens,
(16:15):
we got Turpin, gonna be using different ways, right, we
vote to have a run game.
Speaker 8 (16:20):
That's gonna look like something.
Speaker 9 (16:21):
I just need them to keep it afloat and I
just don't feel like that is where this team would
be at.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
That's really well, We're gonna keep this conversation going. You
see whether or not the Cowboys if they shopped at
Pigley Wiggy or did they go to Banana.
Speaker 8 (16:35):
I've never been there, by the way, for this new.
Speaker 11 (16:37):
Edition, actually a good time for this new edition.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
I love how we can say that.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
Yeah, all right, I love that.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
Okay, great, but switch it over to quarterbacks. Of course,
a lot of injury there. Bruce Harmon released the Cowboys
sign former Bronco cornerback Michael oh Oh Hemodia.
Speaker 11 (19:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (19:39):
There's the wrong way to sell home media.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Home media.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Yeah, o Homodia Hamodia, Michael Homemodia. All right, let's go
in a cole Jess, go ahead, what you got?
Speaker 7 (19:49):
All right? So, as y'all know, I was hosting a
podcast for the UFL during the off season and Michael
was part of the championship winning Defenders team, which, by
the way, is home of the Beer Snake. If you
guys have not seen the video of a beer snake.
Please go google that right now after you watch this podcast. Actually, Okay,
(20:09):
So I have a couple coaches that worked very closely
with him that I texted immediately after the news broke
to be like, hey, what do we need to know
about him in Dallas? Ease Cowboys fans worries just a
little bit given the cornerback room. So I'm gonna read
you this text that I got. Okay, this is from
a source who is a coach worked very closely with him.
(20:32):
He said he is a good teammate, good.
Speaker 8 (20:34):
Athlete, good player.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
He is a physical specimen. His height, length, speed, athleticism
at the position is an NFL prototype in the mood
that Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick Tree are always searching for.
He would have a full time job for probably any
UFL team, but for us, we had two other big
names in the cornerback room of the NFL caliber in
(20:56):
the CB roster. So he never complained or turned changed
his work habits. Every time he got a chance to play.
Every down, he produced and played big. I was very
proud of him on how he stepped in full time
in playoffs, and I think he belongs on an NFL
roster permanently based on all of those things. Another coach
basically said he's a producer and again steps up when
(21:19):
his number is called. So one thing to know about
Michael is yes, he didn't get the starting job throughout
the course of the season. The DC Defenders had some
stuff go down right before playoffs, right before, and their
cornerback room was kind of shaken up a little bit.
From there, Michael stepped up and was producing one of
the bigger reasons why the DC Defenders ended up winning
(21:39):
that championship. So for me having those names, Pete Carroll,
Bill Belichick, we talked about his familiarity with Matt Eberflus
as well in that influence. This coach specifically said that
that's gonna be very noticeable and the familiarity is going
to be there almost instantly as soon as he walks
in the building. So good news.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
There, all right, Well, talk about the state of the
cornerback room.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
Nervous laugh, Yeah, nervous laugh.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
And yeah you got between injuries, Well you got to
pick six from Andrew Booth, Kemon Hall interception. Israel Makwamu
as well has been kind of playing outside corner switching
in and playing some nickel just talk about you know,
as of right now, thoughts on the cornerback room, and yeah,
(22:26):
I usual I'm gonna go with you.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (22:30):
Well, I think you're still in a place to where
I think the kyr Elion, I know your guy. Uh
he's what you're looking for in campus consistency. And it
is something to be said about our guys showing up
every day and making plays or just consistently.
Speaker 11 (22:48):
Being there and not just getting beat.
Speaker 10 (22:49):
I know we're worried about I know I was worried
about some of the confidence and stuff. This doesn't seem
like a player that's not confident. This doesn't seem like
a player that doesn't feel like a scheme fit. I
think what he's being asked to do within Ebu Flu
the system might fit more what he is comfortable with
getting to see him out there. You know, for those
few reps the other day, it was like, all right,
sit him down because you ain't got no you can't
risk it for the biscuit. But him and Bland on
(23:12):
the outside is kind of what I expect at this point,
especially with the uncertainty with Ravel and Trayvon Dix, I
would expect them in the in the on the outside.
Speaker 11 (23:22):
Now when he comes to the slot I've been looking at.
I knew Keimon Hall.
Speaker 10 (23:26):
Was going to get a shot. He's a veteran, he's
been here. He has a nose for the ball. But
he did have some of the season the Rams game
with some of the motions. And when you talk about
the slot position, hey, y'all, I hate to say it,
but slot slot cornerback might be becoming far more important
than it was maybe in years past, with how offense
is are manipulating in the slot.
Speaker 11 (23:46):
That's one of the first things I do every week.
Speaker 10 (23:48):
I go look at who the slot corner is for
the team, and I'd be like, well, see that he's
gonna have a great day. And so if that's the
common thing in the NFL, it's like that position is
so intricate. So I think that we've been seeing some
good things from Zion Childress. Again, I was worried about
his size. He is a smaller like I mean, I
want to say a smaller, smaller frame, but he's what
(24:10):
two hundred and three pounds something like that. So he
what really has stood out to me is his ability
to come and fill in the run and to help
seal on the edges because that is what he's gonna
be asked to do as a nickel corner. Now in coverage,
there's a few times I saw him get lost and
stuff like that. I do think that that a lot
of that is because they're also being vanilla as well.
They're also just trying to pick up on their cues.
Speaker 11 (24:30):
And stuff as well. And the passwords wasn't helping me
in pre seasoning game. But but I will say.
Speaker 10 (24:36):
Zion Childress is someone that is he gonna is that
competition real is because what we've seen from Kemon Hall
wouldn't suggest at this point that there shouldn't still be
a competition. That's the most important position to me.
Speaker 11 (24:50):
Now, ladies do y'all?
Speaker 10 (24:52):
Are y'all more concerned about that position or boundary because Duran.
Speaker 11 (24:55):
Bland don't seem like he want real playing then the
Nickel would have them do all that. It's it's more
physically taxing, y'all. It is.
Speaker 10 (25:06):
It's more physically taxing to have to be I remember
Jordan Molist telling me about the corner nickel cornerback position.
He was like, you're an extension of both levels, first
level and third level, you have to communicate.
Speaker 11 (25:17):
It's a lot of responsibility putting on a rookie.
Speaker 7 (25:21):
But at this point, that's what they've done.
Speaker 10 (25:26):
I don't know, like it's it's that scares me, that's
that scares me. So I saw what I want to say,
the boundary corner position. It's not as stressful that nickel
corner position. That competition is important. What are you ladies
seeing what y'all thinking?
Speaker 9 (25:39):
I agree with a lot of what you just said,
mostly because when I'm looking at who's healthy, I just
can't help glance at who's not healthy, and it's you
can't get ahead of yourself because that's not who's going
to be available. And that's the hard part about this room.
I literally is like, you know, Jess is talking about
basically a UFL guy come back in the second chance,
and it's like, at this point what he got.
Speaker 8 (26:01):
Because they're still trying to figure it out.
Speaker 9 (26:05):
And I will say there was some good things or
from what I saw in game one to game two
again preseason backups. I don't even care. It's just the
fact that there was progress. Like we're focused on progress
because things haven't been that solid. So it's like, are
we are we kind of like, you know, I just
don't know. Yeah, dron Bland and Kyrilem that's pretty much
(26:26):
the only people that And that's me coming from now
seeing Kyer get some represent because I thought, I was like,
we got to see what he has because I've been
I've been the situation where he's going against the Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 8 (26:39):
And doing well, a little handsy.
Speaker 9 (26:41):
That was kind of the biggest thing when he first
got there, Like, yes, he was getting a lot of
flags thrown. That was just but anyways, that's good point
him having a good camp.
Speaker 8 (26:53):
I saw that. Yeah, him getting the takeaways.
Speaker 9 (26:56):
I saw that as well, and then it died out
and now it's too gay is he a super duper
camp player or can he?
Speaker 13 (27:04):
You know?
Speaker 9 (27:05):
And I saw he went out there again. These are backups,
so it's kind of.
Speaker 8 (27:08):
Like evaluate, Yeah, I'm giving him.
Speaker 9 (27:11):
The benefit of the doubt because I feel like we
do the same thing if they were to do the opposite, right,
like if that's the hard part about preason, Like when
they don't do well, it's like, oh my god, they're
just backups.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
But then when they do well, it's like a it's
just backups.
Speaker 9 (27:22):
Like he's doing what he's supposed to do, So I
have faith in what I'm seeing, you know, is he
had the big play Game one and I was I
was talking to him after that game. It yeah, I
was like, this is yeah, he's he's a character, just something.
Speaker 8 (27:39):
But it just seems like him.
Speaker 9 (27:40):
And I talked to Andrew Booth after against the Ravens
right after the way think thank you very much.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
Above those guys, they just feel like.
Speaker 9 (27:49):
Going from not putting anything against Zimmer but they just
both feel like Matt Eberflu's focuses on what your strengths are,
and he utilized or tried to right. He doesn't try
to force people to do things that they're uncomfortable with,
which these guys are. You know, not a lot of
Andrew Booth fans like let's be when we came even now,
(28:10):
like it's been a lot of inconsistency. Keem On Hall
has flashes and then there's some plays I'm like, eh,
and that's why you know, I's just talking about, well,
that's not that's not solidified, Like his Spie is not solidified, and.
Speaker 8 (28:22):
That's the problem.
Speaker 9 (28:23):
Like looking at those two like it's like sometimes they
look like liabilities, and then other times I'm like, I'm
in so it's like, I don't know. I think it's
just I think that's why the physician scares me.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
Who you're starting nickel ezers right now?
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Go why would you now? Right now?
Speaker 7 (28:38):
Hold on? I want to be a point too. I
want to make a point about Andrew Booth hole quick
because here, you know we're talking. Bree's talking about how
during preseason it's they're just back up, so it's like,
uh whatever, or they do really bad, it's like, oh,
they don't deserve to make the fifty three whatever. Like
it's both things at the same time. Right, So with
Andrew Booth, I understand the dismay, I understand the frustration,
(29:01):
to say it very nicely from Cowboys fans to him.
But I also will say that if Andrew Booth wasn't
producing anything throughout the preseason, if he didn't have that
pick six, if he didn't have that big moment, I
would be more concerned. What I am seeing from him
during this preseason is a confidence boost that you physically
(29:21):
can see on the field. Yes, he has too much
space sometimes between receivers. He's allowing too much space, which
is why he's giving up such big plays and these
receivers and these quarterbacks are just picking on him, picking
on him over and over and over. Don't think that's
not noticed. But what I will say is to your
point about what Eberflus is doing for a guy like
Andrew Booth is we're talking about the quarterbacks earlier. He's
(29:42):
taking time to invest in building these guys back up
from where they were previously. And that again is no
shade to the previous regiment of coaching over here, no shade.
It's just some guys require more work and more time
to grow into the kind of player you need them
to be on this team. And I feel like heber
Flus his system is bringing out these guys in ways
(30:04):
that are sparking confidence. So for me, all I wanted
to see from Andrew Booth this off season. The bar
was not high by any means, because it couldn't be right.
I can't just set this rocket high bar for any
of these cbs, but I wanted to see improvement and growth.
We've seen that It's not to where it needs to
be by any means, But I do want to give
him his flowers for at least putting that foot forward,
(30:27):
and in your interview with him, he talked about how
his confidence never wavered. Good put the.
Speaker 8 (30:32):
Confidence and to that point really quick, Kaye.
Speaker 9 (30:34):
Even going back to him when I spoke to him
at training camp, you know, like I said, I stood
there and I watched this rookie come in and you know,
I was his best SEGA season, his rookie season, and
then it just kind of went downhill.
Speaker 8 (30:46):
And he said, he's.
Speaker 11 (30:47):
Like, I was never their guy.
Speaker 9 (30:48):
I got opportunities because people were hurt, and I think
coming here, well obviously there's injuries, but they trust in him,
and he feels that he never had that in Buffalo,
and as I talk about like, oh, well he faded,
I kind of have to think about just the real
conversation I had with him, he was like, I had
three different DC's.
Speaker 11 (31:07):
I was never their guy.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
Like, yeah, that's that's the difference.
Speaker 10 (31:10):
That's how a draft b that's how that's how coaching
regimes work, that's how stuff works. I wanted to comment
just really quickly on the I think you guys were
talking about the caye Elm situation and the children's situation. Hey,
I will say in these last two preseason games in
the first game, I did feel like I wish the
secondary gave the defensive line like a few more ticks.
(31:31):
He saw Perry on Winfrey being able to break through there.
You saw a couple of Russians from Kneeling and.
Speaker 11 (31:36):
Some of those guys.
Speaker 10 (31:37):
But really the pass rush and some of these guys
that we've been seeing it has not been as effective
in these preseason games, specifically last week. So I do
think as well, past Rush gotta work out, gotta help
out that secondary as well. Outside started getting into the season.
Speaker 11 (31:56):
James cheating, he too his papers.
Speaker 8 (31:58):
I'm like, we have a problem.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
But you're gonna look at film on him.
Speaker 10 (32:04):
You like he's too them, Baby, I'm second stream thirst
string tackles.
Speaker 11 (32:08):
Don't know what to do with him.
Speaker 7 (32:10):
He was stressing them out.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
He stresses him out.
Speaker 8 (32:12):
Yeah, we're gonna stress.
Speaker 11 (32:13):
We're gonna figure out how the defensive end room is
makes deep. But that's a guy that can rush the pastor.
Speaker 10 (32:20):
But my original point was in the season that this
I do expect.
Speaker 11 (32:24):
Lord where's where is his number at? It ain't on
here right now on the wall.
Speaker 10 (32:28):
Hopefully uh the the e living is here, But that
past Rush is gonna have to come on as well
to help out the Nuggets. I am We're not a
dwindle on it. But when you bring it up, it's
just it's just secondary uncertainty.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
I know nobody can't say ouch.
Speaker 10 (32:48):
If somebody else say out, I'm gonna say out, I'm
out for the season.
Speaker 8 (32:51):
Like at this point, what we're gonna do?
Speaker 10 (32:55):
Nobody else like the second like seriously, And I think
that's why they brought in Michael's.
Speaker 11 (33:02):
We're going on, I R.
Speaker 8 (33:05):
We're gonna be in Walmart parking lot?
Speaker 7 (33:06):
Who plays by? By?
Speaker 5 (33:10):
Who's starting nickel?
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Because I do want to go back to make sure
that Zion children gets his flowers. I went back to
watch the tape. Excuse me, I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
I don't do that, don't.
Speaker 15 (33:20):
Even do it.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
But on that pick six, he gets through on a
free cornerback blues. So let's talk about it, Childrens. He
has been effective playing that nickel cornerback position as of today.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Who would be your starting nickel?
Speaker 7 (33:35):
Go?
Speaker 10 (33:37):
Ah, it's probably gonna start with key Mom because he's
a veteran.
Speaker 11 (33:41):
But it's what that nugget.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
But okay, you know what, Okay, you know what I'm
going I'm going Zion.
Speaker 8 (33:48):
I'm going Zion.
Speaker 7 (33:50):
I'm going Zion because I want to just be the
devil's advocate here. I'm gonna go Zion because, look, you
can have the veteran presidence. Blah. Do you want to
build up your young talent? What's a better way to
build up your young telling them giving them the in
game reps and giving them the opportunity to make that
name for themselves. You can't do that unless he has
that starting position. You can interchangeably work him out. But
like that's just me being devil's advocate. I think at
(34:12):
this point that room is what it is, no matter
who has that starting position. And that's the end of it.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Let's get this Shoty's mantra is compete every day.
Speaker 7 (34:21):
Compete every he has well, he has competed every year.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
Fairness every day, girl and fairness.
Speaker 11 (34:27):
I like you just energy, Okay, I like his energy too.
Speaker 10 (34:31):
He was like, hey, they told me I was gonna
be in a mix, and I said, oh, you told the.
Speaker 7 (34:36):
He he gives kind of barkie Jaylu vibe.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
You got it.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
That dog. You need that trash talking dog like Jaylu
was because otherwise, look, these receivers are not gonna take
you seriously. And that also goes with like being a
strategic and intelligent football player where you can draw penalties
that way from the other team, not for yourself, by
putting yourself in good field position, taking away field position
(35:03):
from opposing offenses. Again, you saw a lot of jlu
doing that, using like his words to upset people to say,
at the very least and get in their faces. I
want a guy like that. I want a dog in
my CV room. I need that dog. I need that
dog barking.
Speaker 10 (35:19):
I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say, just go with right now.
And I got a lot of love fakimah, that's my dog.
But I think I do think you just go with you.
Let him get let him get hit in the face,
let them get hit in the mouth, let him take
why what?
Speaker 5 (35:31):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Who else gonna do not me?
Speaker 11 (35:33):
You're no one else is gonna be able to do
it for a while.
Speaker 10 (35:35):
You might as well just kind of let him, let
him get out there. So what do you think, Brie.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
I see, I see what you guys are saying.
Speaker 9 (35:42):
Personally, I'm just thinking about there's a couple of positions
we're gonna get hit in the mouth, Like.
Speaker 11 (35:47):
Let's just put it out there, which one.
Speaker 9 (35:49):
Is offensive line? I think some people are getting hit
in the mouth, like you're going to get some Eagles.
This is Tyler Booker going against the Eagles, right, Yeah,
there's a couple welcome to the NFL's I just think
that even you know we're talking about Zion having this
dog mentality, I.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
This kind of messed up.
Speaker 9 (36:09):
I rather keem On Hall's confidence go a little down
against Eagles, because what are you gonna do as the
Eagles offensive coordinator? The same thing that you said that
you're gonna do when when you look at a film
and you're looking who's playing that spot in a CD?
Speaker 8 (36:22):
Shoot, they're gonna at this point, I'm gonna run the ball.
Speaker 9 (36:25):
I do think it's something where you split it like,
I don't think it should be on in one's shoulders.
I just personally would put Kema Hall out there, let
Zion sit back as a nugget, see what he's okay.
That's how I feel. I don't think you throw the
nugget out there right away.
Speaker 11 (36:38):
Ja'll want to kill his confidence.
Speaker 8 (36:39):
That's just why not ready for it?
Speaker 7 (36:44):
If it happens, then I think he's ready and it's
not gonna mess with this confidence. If it does, You've
seen that from the best. You've seen that from a
darn Bland and then look at the kind of season
he's had. You've seen that from a Jlu, even Jaylu
not even getting his flowers like he deserved for years
before the last couple of years. Like that's I think
part of this position is you almost have to be
(37:05):
stripped down to build the confidence up to have that mentality.
So if the coaches feel like he's ready and he
can bite back, do it.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
You're tachic. On that note, we got to take our
second break.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
We'll be back with more girls for our boys talk,
and I'm going to pose the question, if it's too
soon to panic?
Speaker 5 (37:22):
All right, well we're back, is it? Cowboys fans?

Speaker 7 (40:11):
I'm sure that convinced a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
I'm sure that the only way to go, all right, ladies,
too soon a panic Cowboys? I mean ties and lows
from both preseason games. A couple of injuries. Jonathan Mingo
with the PCL injury. He could miss some time obviously,
the ones that are already there, Tyler Gydond Charles from camp.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
All those guys talk about is it too soon a panic?
Speaker 11 (40:36):
Are you guys chilling?
Speaker 5 (40:39):
Very great?
Speaker 10 (40:40):
Yeah, there's some things I don't like, but yeah, I
know that we look at the Cowboys on a vacuum book.
Speaker 11 (40:45):
My god, have y'all looked at any other preseason games?
Speaker 7 (40:48):
R happening?
Speaker 11 (40:50):
I think it's I think it's I think it's.
Speaker 7 (40:52):
Joey b getting chased and almost.
Speaker 11 (40:54):
That offensive line is cooked.
Speaker 8 (40:56):
That boy Joe fighting for his life.
Speaker 10 (40:57):
Yeah, but oh my life, in my life I had
to find but I do.
Speaker 11 (41:04):
I will say, y'all take seriously, no, seriously, no.
Speaker 10 (41:08):
I feel like I think it's important to remember that
it's preseason. What is it like ninety percent of the
humans that are out there.
Speaker 9 (41:14):
Some of the people I'm not lie, I'll be like,
who is that?
Speaker 8 (41:17):
That's just where we're at. You're geting to I said
what I said, but I do think.
Speaker 10 (41:21):
But I will say I'm taking it in doses, and
when I look at preseason, I'm looking at individual play
in reference to what the scheme is. There's not really
any scheming being done. It is very limiting. There are
some things like we just talked about the nickel cornerback position,
the defensive tackle position, that stuff now that that make
me it a little bit, But the rest of it
is just kind of like everybody gonna look a little wonky,
(41:43):
just prite this season, and I want to give them
some time. But yeah, I'm chilling personally right now and
then we'll see what happens.
Speaker 7 (41:51):
Yeah, I think panic, isn't I think panics a strong
word for what I feel about certain aspects of the team.
I think I'm uncomfort bowl with certain position groups nose, tackle, DT,
c B. You know, there's different aspects I'm worried about.
But overall, panicking during the preseason is just a waste
(42:14):
of energy for anybody, if I'm being honest. Love y'all
Cowboys fans, but save your energy for the season because
there's gonna be a lot of highs and lows inevitably, Like,
save your energy for that, you know. So I think
pressing a panic button during preseason where thank god, the
injuries knock on wood have been pretty minor, you know,
(42:36):
to these players and you have a healthy QB one
going into the season, Like, you really don't have much
panic about. You have that wide receiver duo you've been
waiting for. You're gonna have the Great Wall of Tyler's
as Patrick Walker started to call them, you know, forming
throughout the season. With the bad also comes the good.
(42:57):
And I hate to be the there's a glass half
full kind of person, but there really is, because you know,
there was work put into position groups that needed it
and look, you're gonna see those pan out as well.
But no, no team is perfect right now, Like look
look at the NFCS with the Commanders in the situations
they have going on as well. So there's just no
(43:17):
perfect team in the preseason, and if there is, I
would love to see how they're doing week fourteen of
the season because inevitably the wills have to fall off
some point. You saw that with the Eagles, where you
can get the momentum rolling early, you could have a
little late start get the momentum rolling mid season. Like
you just never know. So for me panicking prematurely, I
(43:37):
don't have the energy for that and I don't want
to do that.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
All right, real fast, free what you got.
Speaker 8 (43:43):
I'm not freaking out.
Speaker 9 (43:44):
I think if you are a true NFL fan, you
know that this is the part where you're like, all right,
let's just get to these first three weeks and then
we'll see what the team looks like.
Speaker 8 (43:52):
Yes, that's just what it is right right now.
Speaker 9 (43:54):
It's about what Scott, what Shotty's been saying. It's about
individual stuff. Who's winning the one on ones. I will say,
there's a lot of guys unlike last what was the
route running? I've seen a lot of guys open. I've
seen a lot of guys missing catches and that's I
think it's a lot of miscommunication there. But I'm like,
you know, if somebody else was throwing that ball, that's
the touchdown.
Speaker 8 (44:12):
That's a big splash play. Little things like the running backs.
There's certain especially the last game, like I'm looking and
I'm just like, there's there's holes.
Speaker 9 (44:22):
They're not seeing them, they're not trusting blocks. Those are
type of issues that I'm like, all right, I don't
really care. Backup third string starters that that needs to
get fixed again early, not panicking, a lot of work
to improve all the position groups that you guys talked about. Again,
those are individual things. There's no scheme. Not freaking out.
(44:42):
We could start freaking out week five. We're not seeing
some changes.
Speaker 7 (44:46):
The best thing about vanilla is that it can change
flavor at any point. So we're gonna add some spice,
some flavor, some sugar, all the good things to that
vanilla pretty soon.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
But it was some strawberries, Oh sugar does.
Speaker 7 (44:58):
Some whip cream?
Speaker 5 (45:00):
No, I'm not panicking.
Speaker 11 (45:01):
Yeah, like I was never panicking.
Speaker 8 (45:03):
Yeah, it's this is not hanging out.
Speaker 5 (45:05):
Look the fun can tell.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
I was just asking the questions here for hosting.
Speaker 5 (45:10):
You know, that's it.
Speaker 8 (45:10):
I'm just starting stuff just during the pot my job.
Speaker 4 (45:14):
All right, ladies, this has been fun. We'll be back
here Thursday at ten am. So if you want to
tune into us.
Speaker 5 (45:20):

Speaker 4 (45:22):
